Eye

The eye symbol is at the heart of the High Woldian concepts of Life and Death. By placing an Object symbol within the eye (as we shall see later, the Object symbol is imbued with powerful mystical significance), we get the Symbol for Life: .

By closing the Eye we get the symbol for Sleep:

We have already seen the symbols for Big and Small. There are two closely related symbols that combine with the Eye symbol variants to create new meanings.

Big	Permanent	Small	Temporary

Obviously Permanent Sleep signifies Death:

But the combination of Permanence and Life gives us a more telling symbol. Combining Life and Permanence gives the High Woldian word for Afterlife , which is also their word for Immortal. It seems the ancients believed in an immortal spirit, passing repeatedly through lives and deaths. This is the symbol that describes the endless circle that is Life and Death.

The addition of the Make symbol to Eye produces another important word: See .

By adding Path we get the Path of Seeing; Seek:

We saw the symbol for Tool earlier. By adding Tool to Death we get Tool of Death, or Weapon:

By combining Seek with Weapon we get Hunt , and by adding Man we get Hunter:
