Numbers

One of the most fundemental building blocks of written language is a numbering system. It seems that the High Woldian numbering system predates the actual language by some considerable time. Tablets have been found that indicate this numbering system has been in use for millenia, and indeed it can still be found in use today amongst certain primative peoples of the Wold.

It is vital to understand this simple tally system, as it is used in combination with other symbols to create a complex range of meanings, as we shall see later.

In addition to the basic numbers, symbols representing 5 and 10 are also used. These are joined to other numbers to create multiples such as Forty:
