[Item Creation Feat]

With the Reformation of the Fey King, access to his home dimension, the Wold's Cradle, has gotten a lot easier. Some creators of magical items have learned how to enter a pocket into the Cradle, where time moves more quickly. This allows faster creation of mundane and magic items, because time flows differently in the Cradle.

You have delved into an underused art and made it your own. By entering a pocket of the Wold's Cradle, where time flows differently, you can create and craft items more quickly.

Prerequisite:

Spellcraft 4 ranks or Craft 4 ranks

Benefit:

You are able to dramatically cut the time that it takes to craft items. The use of this feat requires a vertical surface and a special wooden stylus made of the wood of the Ishgara Tree. Draw a portal on the surface with the stylus. The drawn portal becomes a real portal into an extra-dimensional space, like a rope trick, equipped with tables and a forge that can serve as a heat source. The portal is visible, and only the item crafter can enter. Within the space, time moves faster than that in the real Wold. While in the Forge, your body and mind are focused on creation thus no sustenance or rest are required.

If you are adventuring, you may spend up to four hours in the Forge per day, which allows:

  1. up to eight hours (one day) in the Forge crafting magical items; OR
  2. up to one week in the Forge crafting non-magical items.

If you are not adventuring, you may spend up to eight hours in the Forge per day, which allows:

  1. up to 16 hours in the Forge crafting magical items; OR
  2. up to two weeks in the Forge crafting non-magical items.

The portal is visible, and only the item crafter can enter. The only exception to this rule is another crafter who posseses both the Fast Forge feat AND the Cooperative Feat and is looking to aid the crafter. Those seeking to aid in item creation by casting spells but without both of these feats must cast them through the portal. If anyone, friend or foe, seeks to enter without both of these feats, the portal collapses and the crafters return to the Wold. Drawing the portal requires one minute, and during that time, the item maker is in a state of concentration that renders him helpless.

This feat lets you brew a potion or scribe a scroll in four hours if the value of the potion or scroll is 1,000 gp or less. You can brew a potion or scribe a scroll in 1 hour if the base price is less than 250gp.

There is always a very small chance (1% per item made) that some fey creature will be attracted to the portal. Such a fey might be friendly or hostile. You can also try to make time move even faster, taking one third the normal time with a 10% chance of attracting a fey, or faster still, taking one fourth the normal time with a 100% chance of attracting a fey. The fey may bargain for a fee, or introduce a quirk or curse to the item, or help out somehow. Fey are known for being unpredictable.

Special:

A wizard can take this feat as a bonus feat.

Cost:

The required stylus must be purchased or otherwise obtained by the item maker in game (not in the Catacombs). It may be more or less easily purchasable in game for a price of about 1,000 gp. It can be reused.

Note:

This feat does nothing to lessen the cost to create an item. This feat only effects the time that it takes to create one.
