The Elements
The High Woldians saw the Wold in terms of four base elements:
Air | Water | Earth | Fire |
These can be diminished to signify:
Gaseous | Liquid | Solid |
These base symbols combine with other core symbols to create a
bewildering array of additional words. We will touch on only a few examples
here.
We can add the Force symbol
to create:
Heavens | Nature | Gravity |
The base elements can be combined with these new words, for example:
Heavens |
Heavens and Water |
Lightning | Rain |
An important series of words is begun by adding the Solid symbol to Heavens:
Heavens |
Cloud and Path (literally, the Clouded Path) |
Mystery and Force (literally, the Power of Mystery) |
Magic and Nature |
Magic and Wold |
Cloud | Mystery | Magic (arcane) | Magic (natural) | Magic (Divine) |
Path can be combined with other symbols to give us:
Path |
Force and Wind |
Path and Water |
Wind | Storm | River |
We can add Elements to Body symbols:
Air and Head |
Water and Life |
Blood and Wold |
Spirit or Soul | Blood | Woldsblood |
By adding number symbols to the Earth symbol we get new meanings.
Earth and Two |
Earth and Three |
Area | Volume |
In this context the numbers indicate dimensions, ie Earth in two
dimensions or in three. The word of Area is commonly used to describe Land,
for example
Sleep and |
Lands of Rest |
