Ilsidur d20+3=10 Wednesday May 22nd, 2002 11:03:27 PM
Ilsidur's awareness of the situation is overshadowed by his concern around his future in the next 10 minutes or so. [OOC: Spot check made vs DC10, not likely.]
The dwarf hears the priest(?) start to read the spell from the scroll, and recognizes it as the same spell that he has on the scroll that the party found at the tavern. He wonders why that priest is casting the spell? His understanding of the spell is that once cast, the machine could continue to power itself from nearby life forms, and would not need to be re-cast. He watches the party members move to attack the priest, and shouts, "Don't attack him until we know what is going on! Stop him from casting the spell, but don't hurt him! He could be trying to stop the machine! We need to find out who he is first!"
After shouting his warning from the doorway, and while all the commotion is taking place, Ilsidur moves quietly up to the balcony, trying to keep out of sight(?) of the machine. He whispers to Sly (who he assumes is following him up to the balcony), "Once I start casting this spell, I may not be able to afford to give any attention to what is going on around me. I need you to be my eyes and ears. I need you to let me know what is going on, and to try to defend me if anything comes our way."
Assuming nothing happens to stop him, Ilsidur moves within range of the machine, and starts to read from the scroll, to cast a counterspell to the Pour Life spell.

Shiraz stops running at the priest stopping his sword in midarc. "Lucky he was so far away" Shiraz says sheepishly.

Just running a test to see if something isn't working. Could we all post so that we know that the system works?

Jurgen [Jeff] Monday May 27th, 2002 11:58:39 PM Current Situation: Kim, our DM for the time being, is going to be missing in action for a few days. He mentioned this in the Loot and Booty, as well as a brief post in the Catacombs. This means that the game is on stand-still until himself or another DM, such as Cayzle, returns.
So, until he returns... We're taking a break. I will make a post tonight, not action, just something to read. It'll help me keep in Jurgen's mind. So, until our DM returns, we wait...
[Please take in mind that these are the thoughts of a single individual and are in no way the thoughts of the Wold. ;)]
Jurgen Tuesday May 28th, 2002 12:28:17 AM
While the young one moves, more hits him they he expected. This wasn't a battle for mear gold or glory. This was to save the souls of the mortals, whom the gods themselves didn't want to stay.
But who were they to mess in the affairs of the divine. Be it evil, good or something else... The gods knew the truth, how could simple mortals even begin to comprehend what was at stake. Even if they could, how would they defeat the gods? Unless mortals became immortal like the Dark Lord, as he was sometimes called, they would have no chance. Maybe that was the answer. Someone had to become a god. But who could take a risk that great?
Alas, he could not think of things so harsh. They were ideas that the wise probably couldn't find answers to. Right now he had to stop what he knew was wrong. If it defied the holy, so be it. If it defied the unholy, that too would be so. Focus on the task at hand, that was all that mattered now.
This machine had few obvious weaknesses. One was it's size. It was huge. So huge that something falling on it would not do as much damage as Jurgen wished. But it also ment that it would fall faster... If they could get it to a cliff and somehow get it to fall off? No, too difficult.
But what if they brought the cliff to the machine... Yes! And he had just the way of doing so. He smiled, finishing off the magic of the wand. He'd bring the cliff in mear seconds, but it could be troublesome for him... It didn't matter. He was a Child of Chaos and this moment had come to him in a flash of light. Now, he had to go!

I have no problem posting, but I'm the kind of player that takes her cues from other people or story line (some times). If there is no DM then where is the Asst. DM? Who is the asst. DM in this game Gregg? Gregg (Ilsidur Wayfinder) has not posted but once a week?? Well, that's my two cents for the day.
Oh! Yes! Luke said "Grrrr"
DM Cayzle Returneth Tuesday May 28th, 2002 9:55:29 AM
Hi Everybody!
I have talked from Kim and Jerry, and I will be posting regularly as DM henceforth. Both Kim and I are sorry for the delay (Kim told me so in an e-mail, so I presume to speak briefly for him).
Honestly, reading over the past posts, I'm a little confused about where we are. So I'm going to take it back a notch, place the party just inside the Concourse of Alemi's Desecrated Temple, and we'll just start from there and let event overrun us!
Thanks to all for your forebearance. After this message, do let's revert to in-character posts. If you have any game issues or questions, please write to me at cayzle at yahoo dot com.
