JK Monday July 22nd, 2002 1:43:53 AM
OK gang. Here's what we have to do.
1) Figure out what to do next. The DM driven story is over. Now the players get to pick. So what do you want to do? Treasure hunt? Dragon killin? Exploring? Let's hear it. I'd sort of like to do something out in the desert for a change of pace. But let's see what you guys want.
2) I need new character sheets. We can't reopen the game til Kent approves all of our postYOA sheets. Jerry also insists that all new sheets include a double listing of your magic items. First they should be listed by location. Then all magic items should be listed together at the end of the sheet. That's the way they're supposed to be now, but not all of them are. I didn't have much luck getting character sheets last time I asked a few weeks ago, but this time we don't get to play til they're in. So, do it.
Town Crier (MDM Jan) Monday July 22nd, 2002 1:37:18 PM
Drifting in on the mists of the New Wold up ahead, the urgent bell of the Town Crier is heard pealing in the streets. Lundy the Boomer brings news.
"Hear ye, hear ye!
A frantic search has begun for the Floating City - which is currently nowhere to be found! Did the City and its inhabitants drown beneath the lake? Was it destroyed in the cataclysm? Did the mysterious Teucri rescue their creation and take it with them? No one knows! So far, there have been no survivors from the lake, and dives are taking place in an attempt to establish if the Big Float should now be renamed the Big Sink!
Reports from far and wide indicate widespread destruction and damage to buildings and structures all over the Wold! Miraculously - most people appear to have been left unharmed, and are beginning the enormous task of rebuilding what was damaged or lost!
Clerics all over the Wold are proclaiming the existance of new Gods! These Gods have been named the Gods of Testing! They are- Marteaus, the God of Disease Ga'al, the God of Domination Caeroldra, the Goddess of Lust and Passion Jancassis, the God of Revenge Warrd, the God of Luck, and Chance Gargul, the God of Life, Death, and Souls!
Temples and other places of worship are changing hands, being rebuilt, or being created to worship these new deities! It appears that two major pantheons how exist - the Gods of Testing, alongside that of Alemi, Domi, Flower, Pantheon, and Ffloy - the already established Gods of the Wold. Some say the God Gargul either belongs to both, or that he transcends them all!
Everything appears to be in a state of flux! There have been reports of new Sects being formed, and of strange abilities manifesting amongst the populace!
Are these abilities a gift from the Gods? An appeasement for the Godwar, as some say? Or are they a curse, and something to be feared?
In Plateau City, some members of the high council have allegedly gone into hiding! Those who remain have released a statement, proclaiming they were misled, charmed into actions against their own natural will, and remember little of past events. They say they are drawing up an amnesty proposal for certain groups and organisations who are currently banned from the City as outlaws and renegades!
Sturtavent will be reinstated, and the council is at a loss as to explain why he was originally removed from office in the first place! A persistant rumour - that he merely had the wrong haircut, is just that - a rumour. In truth no one seems to know!
Elsewhere, news has arrived of a new eastern pass through the treacherous Scab, created by the upheavals and earthquakes of the Godwar! Adventurers are said to be already flocking toward the area, in search of new lands, new riches, enlightenment and knowledge!
Hear ye, gentlefolk! Take note of the bell - for there will be more!

Well, the Storm Dragons could go on a quest to find where the Floating City went. It might be handy to find their house again.
John Tuesday July 23rd, 2002 3:22:12 AM
I say go find a treasure. Unless someone else plans to give us a house. ;)

CDM Jerry Tuesday July 23rd, 2002 12:39:26 PM
Your situation is this: The Jericho has seen fit to move the Floating City. The rub is that no one was notified of where it went.
When the game starts on Monday, The Storm Dragons of Game 1 have been placed in your manor house in The Floating City. The Floating City Orphans of Game 8 have been politely returned to their beds in the orphanage.
So the question begs, "Where in The Wold are we?"
Both the Storm Dragons and the Floating City Orphans are the center of the first major thme of the 5th age, "Where did the Float go?"
In an effort to make this a bit more fun, we've closed off reading access to these games until found. :)
I also am making a decree that the players from these two games are as of now, forbidden from talking of what they are doing, etc. on their "lost games" in such places as the RWI and the Loot 'n Booty.
If someone asks you in the RWI where you are, say you don't know. It will be the truth. As the RWI is considered to be current with all the games, we're again going to have some fun with that.
Here's what I want to happen. Next week when we begin, someone will inevitably ask, "So what are you doing there to be found and what have you discovered as you've looked about?"
"When you begin to answer, "Well we went out to the docks and looked around and we saw...."
Whoosh! A magical force grabs the Floatite and drags them out of the door!
-------
If this happens several times, in various ways, they will stop asking about the City.
Just a fun little twist. :)
Send any questions my way.
Your DMs are being given the low-down of your situation and will be ready to go by Monday.
Now, I feel a bit of an apology is in order for Games 1 and 8 in that I promised you could choose what you wanted to do for the next module. You still can, but you'll probably want to react to the interesting happenings in your hometown.
Send any screams, frustrations, and standing ovations to me via email. ;)
Starting Monday you can begin to look about and see maybe see where you are? Muhahahaaaa!
Sam Wednesday July 24th, 2002 9:03:27 AM
i guess that answers what we are doing. ill get you my CS friday JK. it seems i have alot of work to do on it with my goddess dead and everything
JK Wednesday July 24th, 2002 4:55:58 PM
Well, I know what we're doing, so get the sheets to me. I have Nonam's.
DEH Wednesday July 24th, 2002 11:06:12 PM
I'm FINALLY back online. I cannot check the boards from work so I will be constrained to post at night. JK, I will be getting you my CS soon. I am going to Fairfax tomorrow for the day so I may not be able to get it done until Friday. I have some questions I'll send via email. I think we ought to go after Trantellia and get her treasure. She killed the Underlord and as such has declared herself an enemy of the state. We can then get the gold we need to build a castle. That sounds like a good way to spend a year - if you wanted my opinion... :)
John Thursday July 25th, 2002 6:09:22 AM
I'd love to get a Prestige Class, but haven't found one I like yet. I hope to get my character sheet done, but I'm still reading.
John
JK Thursday July 25th, 2002 1:33:09 PM
DEH, Jerry decreed that we get to deal with the Floating City's new location before we do anything else.
BigTim Thursday July 25th, 2002 1:37:47 PM
sorry for my tardiness in responding, took until thursday to figure out where we were. i'll send in Clangden's character sheet friday. Clangden sure would be the kind to wonder where the heck the whole city went to before worrying about anything else in the wold. of course, not until he had breakfast and a few pitchers of ale...anyone wanna join me?
DEH Thursday July 25th, 2002 7:17:19 PM
JK, I was assuming we look at my suggestion following the Big Float issue. So did the turtles come with the city? Gareth would be stressed if they didn't.
Tim, I'm sure Clangden won't have any trouble getting Gareth to be his drinking buddy - except maybe at breakfast.
Lok forward to the game starting back up!
Sam Friday July 26th, 2002 4:49:43 AM
JK, my CS is done but i cant find your email address anywhere
JK Friday July 26th, 2002 1:14:45 PM
email= jkf@grm.net
however, I'm going to be stepping down as DM for a few weeks because the baby is nearly here. Jerry's looking for a replacement now. You can send me stuff, and I'll forward it on to whomever. Or you can just hang on to it.
JK Friday July 26th, 2002 5:21:32 PM
On second thought, send them to me. The game won't reopen til Kent approves the sheets, and there's no sense in waiting.
Sa,m Monday July 29th, 2002 9:03:30 AM
baa
BigTim Monday July 29th, 2002 11:10:26 AM
ok, sent JK my updated sheet...Congrats on being a new dad soon, JK, best of wishes.
Gareth and Clangden are now drinking comrades, I have a pitcher of endless dwarven ale, output- 3gal per hour. we can get plenty ripped on that.
JK Monday July 29th, 2002 4:26:50 PM
Jerry hasn't approved the module yet.
DEH Monday July 29th, 2002 11:53:29 PM
I sent mine to JK already and to Kent. So Clangden has a magic pitcher of ale. I see Gareth getting a lot of trouble in the very near future.
BigTim Tuesday July 30th, 2002 12:00:06 PM
yeah, in 2nd edition Jerry gave Clangden the pitcher and a cup of holding that looks like it holds a pint of liquid yet holds a quart. and the ale aint the watered down {censored by Jerry) stuff too. it's the good stuff his father used to make.
Jan Thursday August 1st, 2002 1:09:16 AM
I have the following character sheets -
Jus Nonam Clangden Tericus
Who am I missing?
Gareth? Addinein?
I'm hoping to have the Module okay'd by tomorrow :)
Also - is anyone thinking of taking up any of those druid PrCs?
Todd - Addinein Thursday August 1st, 2002 7:47:01 AM
I am still working on the hard drive issue. Jerry might not have sent you an e-mail about it at the beginning of the week Jan. But Addinein's character sheet is on the hard drive that went down over the weekend. I can post, but I cannot update him just yet. :( ;)
BigTim Thursday August 1st, 2002 11:10:18 AM
i´ve looked at the druid PrC´s and as anyone can tell you, im not big into the treehunging granolaheads. the Gnome Necro i´m playing in the saturday game is a big stretch for me, matter of fact, i´ve made my paladin for when my gnome bites the dust. if he lives past 5th level, then i´ll play my gnome seriously.
JK Thursday August 1st, 2002 12:54:51 PM
Jan, David only sent Gareth to Kent, so I don't have it. I do have an email that says he sent a copy to Kent in case you want that. Maybe DEH will send it directly to you. :)
Sam Thursday August 1st, 2002 6:41:12 PM
i havnet read any of the druid stuff since im not playing a druid
DEH Thursday August 1st, 2002 9:58:06 PM
Not true JK, I attached it to the email I sent you telling you I sent it to Kent. So now, somebody give me an email I can send it to so I won't be on everybody's blacklist! :)
Jan Thursday August 1st, 2002 10:20:44 PM
Todd- yes you're right I'm sorry - you've got a waiver until you've got things fixed.
Thanks JK! David - I've just got a copy of Gareth's sheet from Kent, so we're cool.
Just waiting for the module okay now and we're good to go.
Everyone ready to rock?
BigTim Friday August 2nd, 2002 11:17:51 AM
yeah, i´m ready to rumble.
JK Friday August 2nd, 2002 1:16:55 PM
Hey I do have a copy of Gareth's sheet. How about that?
I'm ready to roll.
Sam Friday August 2nd, 2002 6:39:15 PM
i just remembered that ill be out of town from the 9th till the 13th, so i guess ill need someone to cover me
John Saturday August 3rd, 2002 12:10:36 AM
I'm going to be out for a while too. Thanks for the reminder Sam.
BigTim Saturday August 3rd, 2002 1:23:52 PM
just a bit of info, shouldnt bog the game down any, but the weekend of the 17Th i will be in Amarillo for my Nieces wedding. will leave the morning of the 17th and return on the 18th. but just in case the wife wants to spend an extra day on the road, then i might miss the monday post of the 19th.
DMJan Saturday August 3rd, 2002 5:09:05 PM
This coming Monday - we switch to 'in character' mode, and start playing.
Before we do, we need to decide on something. In the first half of the following week 12th - 16th August, some of you are going to be missing. John's moving, Sam's not in till the 14th, and JK - is your new addition to the family due about then? We could be cut down to half until around Thursday.
The question is - what would you rather do - carry on posting - those remaining pick up the slack and play an extra character? Or would you rather we paused for three days, say Mon/Tue/Wed - and start again on Thursday when we should have a full contingent?
Under normal circumstances we'd do the former. I don't like pausing a game unless absolutely necessary, but we're gonna have quite a few missing. Has this happened in the past for you guys? If so - what seemed to work best?
David? What's your posting schedule, with all the intergalactic travel you're having to do? It might be another factor in how we decide.
Sam Saturday August 3rd, 2002 5:46:20 PM
there has been a couple of times we have just not posted for a couple of days
DEH Sunday August 4th, 2002 11:49:48 AM
Jan, I'm good to go now. I can post at night M-TH and then work in a post over the weekend before Monday. I'm pretty flexible. I'll be glad to post for another character or I'll be just fine with just letting the posts happen as people can do them for a week or two. No problem either way. After the Woldian shakeup it might be better to let folks play their own characters because they may have some new things in mind for them.
