The Hellhound Hunt

And So, It Begins (DM Janell)
Wednesday September 4th, 2002 2:01:49 PM

Rhirehan does his best to answer Brahmah's questions. "Oh yes, my brave fellow, the beasts are quite tricky. And immune to fire too. Quiet as a whisper, they are, and smart too. They work in packs, trying to hunt us down, and basically, that is the way we operate too. They usually send out a scout or two in front of the pack, and if we're lucky, we'll be able to isolate and kill them and then surround the pack." Ybi laughs when Brahmah asks about the hounds ability to fly. "I don't know where you heard that from, but I wouldn't buy any land from him!"

The Chosen prepare themselves for the hunt, sharpening weapons, oiling armor, and casting defensive spells. Soon, the time for the hunt is at hand, and our heroes head out into the wilds by the light of a full moon. Rhasa, looking slightly anxious, kisses her husband and son as they leave. You travel a few miles out into wilderness, when Rhirehan calls the party to a stop. He concentrates on the brush up ahead, his breathing slow and controlled. Spot and Listen checks, please.

Boy howdy, I hope you guys are ready, this is going to be a blast! Kenisha, let me know whether or not you want to join the hunt. Also, include any spells that are affecting you in the post name field.----Janell

Leets - casting Bless
Wednesday September 4th, 2002 4:27:59 PM

The centaur paladin checks his armor one last time as all hunters have gathered. Although he carefuly oiled the plates, he isn't fully used to his new barding and he wonder what it will look like to fight with such an extra weight.
On the other hand, he thinks it's better now than when they will - once more - have to save the Wold.

During the evening he crafted three javelins with wood, basically woodcarved with Taur patterns he saw at the Heartkeep.

"Don't forget, my friends, from where those beast come from...Maybe we will proceed as for the hunts we are used to, but those creatures still be among the most evil."

"And since it's better to prevent than to heal the work of evil, may Domi's strength flow in all your souls and muscles so that his courage bring us to victory!"

Zeoll (Mage Armor, Endure Elements-Heat)  2d4(4+4)=8 goodberries
Wednesday September 4th, 2002 6:17:18 PM

After casting two protection spells on himself, Zeoll talks to Kenisha.

"How can the Chosen sally forrth without theirr leaderr? Let me cast this Mage Arrmorr spell on you," Zeoll the Lesser offers, "and then a spell to let you endurre theirr flames. With the prrotection of the magic and taking carre to avoid combat, surrely you will be safe. You know all of us will fall beforre we let any harrm come to the baby. And we will not fall!"

[OOC: I'll use one or two first level druid and bard spells -- either Endure Elements and Mage Armor on just me, or else one set on me and one set on Kenisha.]

[Still OOC: Zeoll will pray for these druid spells:
Prepared:
Level 0: Cure Minor Wound, Guidance x2
Level 1: Endure Elements Fire x2

He also has eight goodberries from the day before.]

Kale  d20+5=23 d20-1=11
Wednesday September 4th, 2002 6:38:55 PM

(spot check of 23, listen check of 11)holding his bow in front of him with an arrow knocked, Kale says "Ill scout ahead a bit and see if i cant pick up their trail." then he moves forward30 ft and stays ahead of the others

Kenisha (Mage Armor & Bull's Strength on herself)
Wednesday September 4th, 2002 8:08:32 PM

"Oh okay, I'll come along, but you don't have to cast Mage Armor on me, Zeoll. I have that spell." Kenisha relents and joins the hunt.

She casts Mage Armor and Bull's Strength on herself and offers to cast the same on any who want it.

Brahmah, The Hunter  d20=19 d20-2=18 d20+2=12 d20-2=-1
Wednesday September 4th, 2002 11:42:49 PM

OOC: WOW! 19 Spot and 18 Listen, that'll never happen again! :)

Blissfully ignorant of the danger that actually lay ahead, the warrior isn't remotely quiet. He's not really accustomed to 'hunting' as their calling it. The minoTaur is just happy to finally see action after so long. (Move Silently 12, Hide -1 ;P )

Whispering, Brahmah asks; "What is this 'mage armor' you speak of? I know that Bull Strength, that makes my muscles bigger, right? Zeoll, would you make me endure the fires of the hounds too?" The minoTaur smiles his toothy, cheesy grin.

He walks up to Leets; "If I should fall in this hunt, I've purchased some of those healing type potions. They're inside my pack, in the wooden potion box." He thinks a moment. "Also, there is one of stronger potency in the outside pocket of the pack." He grins again.

Flat-top  d4+1=4 d20+8=25 d20+5=6
Thursday September 5th, 2002 6:03:27 AM

Bull strenth is now 21[+4]And Mage Armor brings Flat-top ac to 23. Listens at 25 and spot at 6.

Flat-top turns to Kenisha,"I don't think we should go off on out own like Kale is doing. I think Rhirehan is right, we should hunt in pack like they do, After all they treat this hunting like it was a sport. For us this is the first time we face some Hell Hounds." Flat-top listens but cannot see anything. "Oh! I almost forgot, here's another Chocolat Covered Pickle."

Zeoll (Mage Armor, Endure Elements-Fire)
Thursday September 5th, 2002 11:51:25 AM

Zeoll casts Mage Armor on himself and Endure Elements (fire) on himself and Kenisha.

"Sorrry, Brrahmah," he apologizes to the minotaur, "but that exhausts my firre-endurrance magic for today."

The Hunter or the Hunted? (DM Janell)  d20+13=19 d20+13=16 d20+11=23 d20+11=17 d100=57 d20+2=3 d20+2=18 d20+5=11 d20+5=23 d20+8=19 d20+8=12
Thursday September 5th, 2002 4:46:44 PM

The Chosen are comforted by the knowledge that Domi has blessed them for the hunt. They head out and follow Rhirehan (I assume that Leets and all the other spellcasters did their preparations before you were out in hellhound country).

Rhirehan looks a little concerned when Kale decides to go it alone, but says nothing. From his lead position, Kale spots motion in the tall grasses up ahead. Focusing his attention on the spot, the warrior sees two of the scroungiest looking animals crouched down about 30 feet ahead of him. Two sets of beady red eyes scan the horizon.

The rest of the hunting party freezes in their tracks when Rhirehan motions for a stop. Pointing to the east, he signals that he sees a hellhound. Brahmah also spots the creature about 60 feet ahead of the main party. Even above the clang of Brahmah's armor, Flat-top and Brahmah are able to hear the slight panting and sniffing of the beast.
From his up close and personal position, Kale notices that the both of the beasts turn their beady eyes toward the direction of the hunting party. Whining slightly, the pooches slowly begin to stalk through the undergrowth, on a direct coarse for the party.

Rhirehan and Brahmah also note the motion of one of the hounds, and alert the rest of the party.

Parties initiative.

Combat map should be in your mail boxes folks.----Janell

Kenisha  d4+1=4 d4+1=4 d4+1=4
Thursday September 5th, 2002 9:09:40 PM

"Let's be alert here folks! There could be more of them lying in wait!" Kenisha says as she prepares to cast a spell.

"Brahmah, you, Flat-top and Leets close in, try and flank them. Ceira, you I and Kale will do the ranged attacks of our own choosing. Zeoll, keep yourself back here with Ceira and me just incase there are more. Wouldn't do to leave ourselves open to attack from behind."

Kenisha then casts Magic Missile, shooting all three missiles at Hellhound#2 (for 12 pts of damage).

Brahmah, with the assist  d20+11=23 d4+7=9 d4=3
Thursday September 5th, 2002 9:51:32 PM

With Kenisha's words in mind, he strides up to the beast Kenisha hit with her bolts (#2). Somewhat over confident and cocky, Brahmah smirks at the beast and says under his breath; "So your a 'hellhound' huh!?" He swings at the monsterous dog with little effort (hitting AC 23, for 12 DMG).

Brahmah shifts his focus to Hellhound #1, his Dodge AC versus #1 is 22.

Thinking to himself; 'Well, these things DO look nasty, they smell worse than old Captain Cochrane.'

Kale  d20+5=25 d6=5 d20+5=12
Thursday September 5th, 2002 9:54:55 PM

seeing that that the hounds dont seem to notice him, Kale aims carefully and shoots his arrow at hellhound #1(critical hit, total damage 15). then he prepares for for the other hound to come after him.

Sam, note that the 25 is not a critical, it is a critical threat. I rolled for you to see if it is a critical. It is not, so your damage is 5 hp. If it was a critical, then you would roll your damage three times, and add them together. :)---Janell

Ceira  d4+1=5 d4+1=2 d20+3=18 d8=1
Friday September 6th, 2002 2:00:19 AM

(OOC: It seems others have received the combat map except for me. Double check to see that you have my correct e-mail address as paladin_slayer@hotmail.com Until then...)

Ceira fires off a crossbow bolt at the nearest Hellhound who is clear of any Taur standing in her line-of-sight (hitting AC18 for 1 damage).

If there are no Hellhounds with a clear shot, then she will cast a Magic Missle spell at the nearest Hellhound for 7 damage.

Yes, that's the address I sent it to. Let me know if you haven't gotten it by my post today. I'll go ahead and resend it.---Janell

"Alright I'm glad you girls will be backing us up, Come on Leets, let's flank them to the west, that should bring us towards the back of the second one and you get him toward the frount of them." And off Flat-top goes slashing then rearing to fight with his hooves. To himself * I hope there no more of them? How can we strike them and be quiet?" Flat-top wonders.

Ceil, as I understand it, you can only attack with weapon and hooves on a full attack. Since the hounds are more than 5 feet away, you cannot make a full attack yet. You certainly can next round! I will go ahead and apply the damage from your morningstar.---Janell

Zeoll the Lesser  d20+2=4
Friday September 6th, 2002 3:07:32 PM

Zeoll nods to Kenisha, although his paws are itching to rip into hellhound flesh. He begins to chant a rousing song taunting the dogs and raising the spirits of the Chosen.

[OOC: Bardic Inspire Courage -- benefits begin next round.]

He also keeps his eyes open for any enemies that might be sneaking up [spot check 4! oof!]

Friday September 6th, 2002 9:39:55 PM

Kenisha's and Ceira's magic missiles streak across the night like fireflies on LSD and rip into Hellhound #2. The mutt growls angrily, and rushes forward to meet Brahmah's advance. Hellhound #1 yelps when Kale's arrow lodges itself in his neck (nice critical!), and snarls weakly as Flat-top pummels him with his morningstar.

The hellhounds respond to the attacks by launching themselves at Brahmah and Flat-top. Both mutts grab a hold of their opponents and begin belching a 30 foot cone of fire out of their mouths. Flat-top takes 4hp of damage from Hellhound #1's bite, and 3hp of damage from the fire. Brahmah takes 5hp of damage from Hellhound #2's bite, and 3hp of damage from the fire. If you make a reflex save vs DC 13, you only take half damage. The smell of singed hair fills your nostrils, which is moderately better smelling than the fetid breath of the hounds.

Rhirehan nods at the Chosen's tactics, but winces when Brahmah and Flat-top get toasted. He whispers to the few who remain behind. "Alright, let's close up those ranks. You can bet your tail that their are more out there trying to flank us. These two are just to drive us into the others. Keep a sharp eye out, and hopefully we'll find them before they find us." He steps back a pace or two to help close the holes as he searches in the darkness for any other hounds.

Spot and Listen checks please.

Everyone please indicate in your post name any spells which are affecting you, otherwise, I might overlook it. Also, don't forget to add your +1 to attack from Leet's Bless spell and the +1 from Zeoll's song :)----Janell

(Reflex save of 15 to take 1 or 2 points?)

Brahmah is a bit upset that he got toasted by his foe. He realizes now that the cloth tail he has been wearing since he played the 'Tail Game', is on fire. As the cloth tail burns, he turns to the beast with his eyes lowered. "OKAY! now I'm NOT happy!"
Brahmah takes a 5 foot step inbetween the beasts.
The minoTaur unleashes on #2 with two attacks (full round), twisting and turning the Falchions like a thresher harvesting wheat, Hitting AC's 20 and 22, for 16 and 12 respectively, totaling 28 damage on #2.
(thanks to Zeolls damage bonus', Leets too :D).

Spot 7, Listen 2... Brahmah's busy :)

Leets  d20+11=27 d8+4=8 d8+3=10
Sunday September 8th, 2002 4:57:47 PM

A little bit hesitating in his whole new armor and also remembering of the wise advice he was given, Leets arrives by Flat-Top and Brahmah's side only after the attack.
Charging with even more weight thanks to his plate barding, Leets attacks Hh2 with his longsword high over his head and his shield on the other arm (Base+7 + 1 song +1 bless +2 charging= 27; damage D8+2s+2charging=8).
Trying to reequilibrate after the charge, Leets notices nothing as he finally stands by Brahmah's side, facing the beast...

Is That All You've Got?! (DM Janell)
Monday September 9th, 2002 12:09:31 PM

As Kale sneaks up on the mutt and buries his dagger between its hindquarters while Flat-top pummels the front end. The beast howls chillingly, and gurgles out its bloody last breath. Meanwhile, Brahmah, discovering that his new tail is now charred beyond recognition, takes his frustration out on Hellhound#1. His falchions glimmer eerily in the moonlight as they arch downward and decapitate the hound.

Find his new armor a little more cumbersome than he anticipated, Leets arrives in time to find that the others have already finished off both of the hounds. Kenisha also holds her attack when she sees that Domi's warriors have easily polished off their foes.

Zeoll, through his years training, sees motion in the grass, and spots a hellhound moving in the grass about 20 feet in front of him.

Note, this is a surprise round. Zeoll is able to perform a partial action. All others, hold your actions for now, as you are unable to see the hounds. I will post again after Zeoll's partial action, then you may post. Thanks!----Janell

With this golden opportunity, Zeoll leaps!

[OOC: a partial charge]

His standing jump easily carries him 20 feet through the air and onto the hiding beast! [OOC: Jump check 52 would have carried him up to 31 feet, so no problem there.]

Zeoll the Lesser lands on the dreaddog with both paws, hitting AC 21 and AC 13. He does 6 hp damage if one hits, 12 if 2 hit.

As he leaps into the fray, his song swells as blood flows under his feet ...

Look frriends! Herre lies anotherr foe!
They cannot hide, though low they slink!
No hiding now those eyes that glow --
They can't conceal theirr noxious stink!

Be sharrp of eye, be keen, alerrt!

Brahmah, The Confused  d20+9=10 d20+9=22 d4+8=10 d4=2
Monday September 9th, 2002 4:39:26 PM

Thinking he had #2 well in his sights, (I stated I was attacking #2, because it's the one that scorched him, #1 was his next target to be flanking with Flat-top) Brahmah lops the the head off #1 in a fit of rage and confusion.
With a dumbfounded look on his face, he turns on #2. "NOW, that was supposed to be you! But I guess he was just practice."
Hitting AC's 10 and 22, the 10 won't hit (auto miss), but AC22 will for 12 points of damage.

Sorry, my bad...us DM's make mistakes too. Both hounds are now dead. Please hold your action until I can post again, in the next 1/2hour----Janell

As Zeoll flies through the air toward his target, several cones of fire light up the night. It is now very obvious where the rest of the hellhounds are as they breath fire down upon the party. The hound in front of Zeoll snarls viciously.

Rhirehan and Ybirard manage to duck in time to avoid some of the flames. Ceira, Kenisha, and Zeoll also find themselves in the line of fire. Ceira takes 6hp of fire damage, Kenisha spell absorbs the first 5 points, but she takes 15 more (ouch!) and Zeoll's spell manages to protect him from all harm. If you make a Reflex save vs. 13, you take only half damage.

Thanks for your patience. The surprise round is over. You may now post your action for the next round. Good luck!----Janell

Zeoll's song soars above the fray.

Come hounds of hell! Come dogs of death!
I fearr you not! Not tooth norr brreath!

The wemic grins broadly as he lashes out again at the hound he attacked before. His tail whips back and forth, and his bullroarer whips around and around. The sound of his laughter mixes with his song. His paw sweeps out, and connects. [7 hp more damage]

The wemic also takes a step five feet to the south and west, edging around the side of the beast.

Flat-top is shaken when Kale yells "back to the others". Flat-top on a full gallop (he can run up to 50 feet in one round) to the group, passing between Rhireham and Ceira, then between Ybirard and Kenisha. Then strike Hellhound#3 in a passing attack.

OOC:Passing attack 37 Critical hit, for Damages of 15+13= 28 hp.

Kenisha yelps as she is hit from all sides. But she doesn't let the pain keep her from thinking on her hooves. She trots up and around (avoiding hellhound #3) and moves behind him (using her movement of 50).

Wand still in hand she aims it at #3 and hits him with all three missiles for 11 HP of damage)

"Oh no!"

Leets turns backward, hearing Zeoll's call more than guessing the hellhounds presence.
Now knowing which behaviour his comrade in arms have in battle, Leets draws a javelin. As he thought, Brahmah and Flat-Top charge #3. He decides to aim at #4, to support his attacked friends.

(However, he doesn't do well, only 14 on his attack roll...)

Tuesday September 10th, 2002 1:50:25 PM

Ok folks, a couple of up front notes before we get started. I'm only human, so if I make a mistake, let me know, and please pardon me. Sometimes I don't know exactly where you want me to move your character. If I have to make a judgment call, I will place your character in the most advantageous place for them that I can find. For example, I went ahead and moved Leets so that he wouldn't have to worry about hitting any friendlies when he threw his javelin. Also, please remember to roll twice to determine if you have a critical. Thanks!---Janell

Hellhound #3 howls in pain and frustration after being assaulted from multiple sources, but looks like he's got a lot of fight left in him. Hellhound #4 snarls menacingly as Leet's javelin whistles by its ear. Flat-top runs to the rescue, and smashes into Hellhound #5 with a particularly nasty critical hit (Ceil, you forgot your second roll, so I rolled it for you. You got a crit!). Zeoll pounces on Hellhound #6 once again, and rakes his side with a claw. The burning grass and trees around you provide ample light for you to notice that these Hellhounds look to be in much better shape than the ones you polished off earlier.

Rhirehan and Ybirard, inspired by Zeoll's song and the bravery of the Chosen, advance upon Hellhound #4. Both liontaurs thrust at the creature with nasty looking longspears as they shield themselves with their large, spiked wooden shields. Rhirehan misses completely, and Ybi's spear clips the hounds shoulder, doing little more than angering the mutt.

Hellhound #3 lunges for one of Brahmah's legs, but only manages to snag a mouth full of grass. Hellhound #4 pounces upon Ybirard and ribs a large chunk out of the youth's unprotected flank. The beast facing off with Flat-top barely misses him, while Zeoll's opponent meets with better luck as it wheels around and sinks its fangs into Zeoll's neck (16hp damage).

Wednesday September 11th, 2002 9:26:21 PM

Brahmah slices into the beast, his weapons leaving two sections of the hounds flanks hanging loosely off the animal. The hound howls in pain as it tries to turn itself to attack Brahmah again. Flat-top rips into Hellhound #5 like some sort of twisted piņata. His morningstar smashes into the mutts head, making a sickening crunching noise. As blood and gray matter spatter onto Flat-top's face, he knows instinctively that the beast won't be bothering anyone any more. Hating to waste an attack with his hooves, the centaur does an amazing 180 and smashes into Zeoll's foe with a vengeance (Hope you don't mind Ceil ;)).

Using his dagger, Kale plays cut the tail off the Hellhound as he backstabs the pooch. Ybirard looks insulted at the order to move out. "A warrior does not run away from a fight after only the first blow!" Both he and Rhirehan look determined to stay put, despite the wisdom of Kale's council. Kenisha takes a few moments to put herself at a tactical advantage and then weaves her magic. He missiles strike the beast in the chest, but it doesn't even turn to acknowledge that it's been wounded.

As Zeoll tries to maneuver himself away from those nasty teeth, he manages to connect with both claws. His opponent, though, strangely seems more interested in Flat-top. Taking advantage of the Hellhound's distracted state, Leets slams into his exposed side, knocking the breath out of the creature with a loud Ooof. Ceira fires off a couple of bolts of energy at the mutt, which, after the combined onslaught, is beginning to look much worse for the wear.

Perhaps in response to see his son grievously wounded, or maybe in response to Kale's command to retreat, Rhirehan growls and thrusts his spear at the hellhound. This time he connects, but like Ybi's last attack, only manages to clip the monster. Ybirard, despite his brave words, looks like he could use a little more practice with his spear, as he almost jabs Kale with his wild attack. Clearly frustrated, the youth smashes at the hound with his spiked shield and rakes its neck.

Hellhound #3 musters the courage to try to attack Brahmah again, but his battered body doesn't follow through. Sensing an easy kill, hound #4 continues to concentrate on Ybirard. It connects a second time, and this time wraps its jaws around the taur's neck and punctures a large vein. His blood flowing freely, Ybi slumps to the ground unconscious. The final remaining hound spins and clamps onto Flat-top's leg doing 10hp of damage.

In your minds, you think you hear, just for a minute or two, the sound of a bell being rung far way, and strange sounding names being called. Your hearts feel heavy as if remembering some great tragedy, but then the grief is replaced by a firm sense of resolve.

Parties initiative. Two Spot Checks and one Listen check, please.

Determined to save his prideful escorts, Kale slashes once more at Hellhound #4's flank, carving a nasty cut on it's hind leg. This time, Rhirehan takes heed of Kale's advice, and picks up his son, and runs over to Kenisha for healing. Annoyed at the nip by Hellhound #6, Flat-top pops the mutt on the head, knocking it unconscious. From behind, Zeoll rips into the beast with his claws, and mercifully ends the creature's wretched life. Expertly wielding his weapons of death, Brahmah quickly dispatches Hellhound #3 into oblivion. Seeing no opponents nearby, Leets rests a little. Ceira's missiles rip two holes in Hellhound #4.

As Rhirehan lift up his son, Hellhound #4 makes an attack of opportunity. Concerned soley about his son's state, Rhirehan doesn't even seem to register that the hound has opened a nasty gash in his leg. Howling insanely, the hound turns and attacks Kale, inflicting 13 hp of damage.

From your differing positions on the battlefield, most of you either see (DC was 10) or hear a large group (15 or 20, it's hard to tell) of Hellhounds passing north of you. Four pairs of beady eyes break off from the main group, and begin making their way towards you. Even though he is engaged with the only remaining hellhound, Kale notices something odd about the movement of the four advancing Hellhounds. Although he can't make out what it might be, he sees motion in the grass near the hounds. It looks to him as though something is guiding the group of hellhounds toward you.

Kale, if you choose to try and pinpoint the location of the thing that is guiding the hellhounds toward you, make a Spot check DC 25. If Kale announces what he sees, all others can try and locate the movement vs DC 30.---Janell

Sunday September 15th, 2002 9:23:55 PM

Being the killing machine that he is, Brahmah observes as he slices into the hound that it will probably only take a blow or two more to kill it. Kale points out his discovery, and everyone regroups as best as possible. Flat-top and Leets move to the front to form a deadly welcoming party for the new hounds. Kenisha tends to the almost dead Ybirard, and bestows protection upon Rhirehan who, although he doesn't say anything, looks like he is worse off than Zeoll. Zeoll takes the time during the pause in the hunt to down a healing potion. Ceira, heading Brahmah's warning, heads to safer ground.

Rhirehan thanks Kenisha for her kindness, and sprints forward to take up a position near Flat-top. Ybirard is barely able to stand after Kenisha's healing, and although it clearly frustrates him not to be out with the others, he stays by her side. Looks like a small breeze could easily take him down again.

The hounds hold their ground, and greet their advancing foes with a wall of fire. Leets takes 9 hp of damage from fire, Flat-top takes 11 hp (Reflex vs. 13 and save for half). The flames wash over Rhirehan, but thanks to Kenisha's spell, he is undamaged by the assault.

She has her suspicions, but does not wish to voice them, especially with the injured wemic beside her. She didn't want to hurt his pride.

Brahmah easily (with your first blow!) dispatches his opponent, and makes sure with his second swing that the creature will never again walk this earth. Thinking quickly, Kale fires off an arrow which lodges itself in the hound's right foreleg. Ceira and Kenisha fire off another volley of magic missiles which light up the night, and cause the mutts to growl as the bolts smash into the beasts. Zeoll, hoping to make things tricky on the pyromaniac dogs, casts his grease spell. Leets hacks into Hellhound #7 slicing a big gash in its hackles as he calls on the name of Domi to lend assistance. Suspicion rises, and Kenisha asks Kale to scout out the area.

Both hellhounds (7 and 8) caught in Zeoll's spell manage to keep their feet. Flat-tops little ruse appears to work as Hellhound's # 8 and 9 takes special notice of the brave centaur. As Hellhound's #8 and 9 pass between Leets and Rhirehan, Rhirehan makes an attack of opportunity on Hound #9, spearing his hindquarters as he passes by. Flexing his powerful legs, Rhirehan pounces forward 5 feet and engages Hellhound #10. "You hungry? Snack on this!" Rhirehan growls as he thrusts his longspear in the dogs face.

Hellhound #7 slowly works his way out of the grease field, and attacks Leets. The mutt connects with the paladin, and causes 8 hp of damage. Hellhound #8, also slowed by the grease spell, is only able to make it to a position between Leets and Rhirehan. Hellhound #9, however, pounces on Flat-top, but only crunches on his armor. Hellhound #10 lunges at Rhirehan, and latches onto his arm.

Party's initiative.

To Ybirard she says, "Get out some of those healing potions from Brahamah's pack and be ready to give them to whomever needs it. That includes yourself."

Brahmah howls when he's chomped on, but as always, he continues his devastating assault.

Flanking with Zeoll, Brahmah takes full advantage of the opportunity. Attacking #8 again, hitting AC's 27 amd 16, for 13 and 12 damage respectively.

"I have my own teeth to bite with HOUND!" Brahmah hisses out in pain at the hell beasty.

(OOC: Spot=5, Listen=8)
Seeing Hellhound #9 back away Ceira yells, "Oh no you don't!" and unleashes her last array of Magic Missles at the beast for 4 damage. She is intently focusing on her target and is oblivious to her surroundings.

Zeoll the Lesser (inspired, blessed, mage armor, endure elements, grease, down to 11 of 28 hp)  d20+7=12 d20+7=20 (two claw attacks) d4+3=6 (one claw damage)
Thursday September 19th, 2002 11:35:30 AM

"YOUCH!" Zeoll yells as the hellhound bites him. He lands on one hellhound with a solid blow (thanks for the critical, Janell!). And in the next round, seeing that he and Brahmah now flank Hellhound 8, Zeoll the Lesser turns and claws at that one. He lands one blow for 6 hp damage.

Then, since he himself will be flanked if he stays put, Zeoll takes a five-foot step towards Brahmah.

As he does so, Zeoll the Lesser resumes his bardic song, hoping to keep everybody inspired about the fight.

--------

Status:

Since Zeoll is singing again, he resets the clock on the inspiration. He has used two of three bardic songs today.

"You still want to bite a chosen?!?"

Says Leets struggling with his hellhound.

"Just try once more after this, burning evil!"

Flat-top smashes in the skull of Hellhound #9, preventing escape and dispatching it to the afterlife. Ceira, seeing that Flat-top has already taken care of Hound #9, focuses her attention on Hound #8 instead. Brahmah and Zeoll gang up on the beast (Hellhound #8). It howls in pain as Brahmah once again carves into its flesh while Zeoll rakes its back with his powerful claws. Hellhound #10 yelps when Kenisha's magic missiles slam into its body. Meanwhile, Hound #7 looks snarls when Leets sword slices the tip off his ear.

Kale's keen ears pick up sound from the Southwest, and he moves toward the direction of the sound. With all the sounds of battle around him, it's hard to identify the source, let alone the precise location. Kale, please make spot and listen checks please.

Ybi picks up Brahmah's pack, fishes out one of the potions and downs it (you want to help me out with what type of potions they are?). Then he trots toward his father and hands him a potion.

Rhirehan turns at the sound of his son's voice. He quickly gulps down the contents, never taking his eyes off of the mutt in front of him. Strengthened by the potion, Rhirehan attacks his opponent with renewed vigor. His spear pierces through the mutts skull, and the pouch collapses lifelessly to the ground.

Hellhound #7 growls and launches himself once again toward Leets, but again, only connects with his armor. Hound #8, however, meets with better luck against Brahmah. It's massive jaws rip at Brahmah's neck, inflicting 15hp of damage.

Spot and Listen checks from those that care to.---Janell

BTW, Bless is still in effect!---Janell

Friday September 20th, 2002 1:55:02 AM

(Spot is a botch...1+3. 14 to listen check)

Feeling that something is happening around when he see his friends manoeuvring, Leets tries to locate the reason of those moves. This seems to draw his attention, and he both fails at finding something in the middle of the battle and to hit Hh #7 (who is pretty tough!).

(1+8...to hit, fumble too!)

OOC: THE POTIONS ARE CURE LIGHT WOUNDS.

Brahmah reals at the beasts blow. Severely wounded, Brahmah's first instinct is to grab the wound where it's bleeding, however, that same instinct tells him to keep fighting. Brahmah does just that.
(OOC: Another blow like that might finish our intrepid hero. ;) )

Brahmah attacks #8 with a roar that the Gods, including Domi himslef, might even hear.
Hitting AC's 23 and 21 for 15 and 12 damage, respectively.

"Hell beast, you've met your match!!"

Kenisha (Inspired Blessed, Bull's Str, Mage Armor)
Friday September 20th, 2002 7:19:05 AM

Seeing that Brahmah has been hit again, Kenisha fishes out 2 potions from his pack and trots up to his left side (ie away from the hellhound) and hands them to him.

"Even the bravest of the brave know when it is time to heal, my friend." she tell him. "Back off until you've taken your restoratives, I'll guard your flank while you do."

(ooc- I'll be gone gone for the weekend until sometime late sunday, in case there is still another turn before then, consider Kenisha on the defensive if Brahmah does move back and she does move in to take his place. If not she'll fire her wand at #8)

Zeoll the Lesser (inspired, blessed, mage armor, endure elements, grease, down to 11 of 28 hp)  d20+7=14 d20+7=27 d20+7=18 2d4(1+2)+6=9 d20+2=20
Friday September 20th, 2002 10:38:42 AM

Zeoll continues to attack the one he and Brahmah are fighting.

He hits once and criticals on the second swipe! nine hp damage!

Since the bard is still singing, he does not hear anything (foregoing the Listen check). His spot check, however, suggests that he sees something!
