Ceira moves back toward the safety of the main body of the party. Leets thinks that he hears something, but then realizes that it's just the heavy panting of the Hellhound in front of him. Brahmah quickly dispatches Hellhound #8 to oblivion, and is met by Kenisha who offers him a potion. Zeoll, seeing that Brahmah has already killed Hound #8 switches targets as he sings his inspiring tune. His claws rip into Hellhound #7 with the sickening sound of ripping flesh. Out of the corner of his eye, Zeoll thinks that he spots some movement in the grass behind Brahmah. Zeoll shouts out a warning to his comrade.
As he is sneaking around in the grasses, Kale hears a very familiar sound.....the light tinkling of chainmail. Jerking his head in the direction of the sound, Kale spots movement in the grass just 10 feet in front of him. The movement is heading toward Flat-top. As he takes a look around, Flat-top also hears the noise, and sees something moving in the grass headed straight for him.
Sensing the eminent victory, Rhirehand and Ybirard surround Hellhound #7. Using his flanking advantage, Rhirehan's blow connects with the mutts hindquarters. Ybirard on the other hand, manages to miss once again.
The Chosen's sense of victory, however, is cut short. As Kenisha extends a potion to Brahmah, a blinding pain racks her swollen belly. Turning, Kenisha is stunned to find a dagger sticking in her side (13 hp). Even more surprising is the form of the lean Liontaur behind her who is thrusting his dagger in her side. At the same time, Ceira (5 hp), Brahmah (18 hp), and Flat-top (19 hp) also encounter the searing pain of metal entering their bodies. They also find themselves confronted by Liontaurs who appear out of nowhere (thanks to Zeoll's, Kale's, and Flat-top's keen senses, the party is not caught flat footed). Ceira's opponent looks solemnly at the centaur from between the now bloodied blades of his greatsword and longsword. Flat-top finds a rather bulky looking liontaur wielding a greatsword with engravings that are now covered with his own blood. The last thing that flashes before Brahmah's face before he passes into unconsciousness is the mangy hair and crooked teeth of a liontaur brandishing a gigantic axe.
Flat-top d20+12=25 d20+12=18 d20+12=23 d8+11=16 d4+12=13 d4+12=15 Friday September 20th, 2002 8:30:47 PM
"Ugh!" cries Flat-top as he is stricken, Look into the eyes of the Weimic that swing that sword, "Well if it isn't the coward of the road. They want to play. All right then take this!" Flat-top will swing with his weapon and try to get the coward with his hooves.
Flat-top hit with Morning Star (AC25) for 18hp of damage, and then he hit the Weinic with his hooves (with the +1 Hoof Knuckles) AC 18 & AC 16 for damages of 13hp & 15hp.
Flat-top holds his side, trying to stop the bleeding. Under his breath "Back Stabbing the females, how low can you coward sink?"
Brahmah, down and out (-4) d100=88 Saturday September 21st, 2002 12:43:33 AM
As Brahmah turns happily to Kenisha to retrieve a potion from her, he sheathes one Falchion, then stags the potion with the other hand. Just as he's doing so, he collapses to his knees just to see the smug liontaur on top of him. Before he goes unconscious, he hisses out an aggonizing sound of; "DiisssHonorable maaangyy kittteenn......" Then is silent. Falling in a puddle of his own blood.
Haziness fills the great warriors dreams. He's back celebrating victory, drinking with the Chosen and the Sandifurs, when, suddenly, protruding from his chest is a greataxe. The scene repeats itself, over and over and over.... his nightmares continue.....He's in his grave, he's very still, bugs and worms feed.... he's helpless.....
OOC: Didn't stabblize. He bleeds.
Kale d20+11=25 d8+4=11 2d6(6+4)=10 Saturday September 21st, 2002 2:35:19 AM
cursing himself for not spoting the wemics, Kale grips his longsword and charges the one on Flat-Top(#4, i think), stabbing the liontaur in the back(hits AC 25 for 11 pts of damage plus 10 for sneak attack for a total of 21 pts) as his invisibility dissapears, Kale simplys says "Your dead."
Leets Saturday September 21st, 2002 3:03:12 AM
"Oh no! Brahmah!"
Quickly seeing that Hh #7 is really busy with three opponents, Leets decides to help his friend Brahmah who fell just behind him. Calling for the holy power of Domi to bring back his powerful fallen ally, he used his lay on hands to cure 15HP, and now prepares for facing those new opponents.

Zeoll keeps singing: Go, Good Leets, and help the rest! Three now here will kill this pest! Put those traitors to the test!
Zeoll the Lesser continues to fight the hound he is flanking. He rips into the hound with both paws, inflicting 11 hp damage.

Kenisha screams in terror and pain as the dagger sinks in to her vulnerable side. "By Tomi, NO!!!!!"
She reacts instinctively and strikes out at the liontaur that strike her with both back hooves (I'm assuming they would be the right set of hooves given her position.)
(Natural 20 on one hoof (with a 15 for the second roll to confirma crit or not), 14 on the other hoof. Damage is 3 and 6 (and another 4 if it is a critical))

Caught off guard by the attack, the Chosen respond with different tactics. Flat-top and Kale focus on the bulky Liontaur #2. Flat-top manages to connect with his morningstar, but his other two blows are deflected of the warriors chain mail. Deciding to turn the tables, Kale viciously slices through the strong hindquarter muscles in that nice unprotected spot between the chain mail. The liontaur growls gutturally, and turns to sneer at Kale. In very thickly accented Taur he says "The one who puts on his arrmorr should not brrag. It's the one who lives to take it off who has the rright to brrag!"
Seeing Brahmah in mortal danger, Leets rushes to his side and smiles as the gentle healing flows from his body into Brahmah's broken form. The fog clears from Brahmah's mind, and he finds himself back in fighting condition, although still a little weak.
On the other end of the battlefield, Zeoll continues to hack away at the last remaining Hellhound. Once again, he tears into the mutt, which doesn't look like it can hold out much longer, as he continues to inspire the party with song.
Kenisha instinctually manages to land a blow with her first hoof, but her awkward center of balance makes her second kick ineffectual. The lean liontaur that faces her spits in her face when she calls on the name of Tomi. In Wemic he says "The infidel dares to speak the name of the blessed one. She will suffer greatly for her crime."
This time both Rhirehan and Ybi manage to land their blows. The beast staggers from Rhirehan's blow, and breaths its last as Ybirard's spear pierces its rib cage. The boy looks down at the dead hound with triumph.
Liontaur #1 takes a step away from Kenisha and Ceira and begins chanting and tracing symbols in the air. Kenisha attempts to make an attack of opportunity against him, but to no avail. Ceira's attack, however, meets with better results. Lashing out with a claw, she scratches the wemic leaving bloody claw marks. The chanting stops abruptly, and the wemic's face fills with rage. Kenisha and Ceira, I rolled your attacks of opportunity in order to keep things rolling
Liontaur #2 continues to press his attack against Flat-top. His greatsword slices down and barely misses the main artery in his neck (doing 9 hp of damage...rolled a crit threat, but not a crit!). He has better luck with his backswing however, and slices cleanly through the vein (10 hp). Flat-top crumples to the ground as his life blood squirts from his neck.
The solemn looking taur (Liontaur #3) continues its focus on Ceira. The moonlight glinting wickedly on his swords, the warrior brings them down in an elegant arch toward Ceira. The first blow from his greatsword barely manages to draw blood, and does a measly 4 hp of damage. Frustrated, the liontaur's backswing swipe misses her entirely. Drawing his breath, and focusing, the liontaur thrusts his longsword into Ceira's chest, slicing through several important arteries (critical for 12 hp of damage). Blood gushes from the wound as Ceira's dying body slumps to the ground.
The stange looking liontaur with matted hair and very crooked teeth (Liontaur #4) growls in frustration at Leets act of healing kindness. Once again he turns on Brahmah. He raises his arms which are covered in tattoos, and brings the huge axe smashing down on the stout fighter (11hp of damage).
Good luck Chosen! Just to check with your records. I show Ceira at --3, and Flat-top at --8. Brahmah, I calculate your hp at 12 after the healing, and then 1 after the attack...consider this you hp value. :)---Janell
Brahmah, The Underestimated (1of 49) d20=20 d20=2 d4+8=12 d4=3 d4=2 Tuesday September 24th, 2002 12:49:05 AM
Not having fully come around from being unconscious, the blow from the tatooed freak wakes him. With a sudden adrenaline rush, Brahmah stands straight up with a roar and brings his Falchion up between the liontaur #4's front quarters. "Forrrrrr Dooomiii!!!" The bloody warrior roars as he rips into the liontaur (#4) for 28 points of DAMAGE (15 roll +13 power attack=28) from his single attack. (Hitting a natural 20 using Power Attack *+13*, not a crit) "You've bit off more than you can chew KITTEN!" (Brahmah's AC on #4 is 22)

Kale d20+9=27 d8+4=9 Tuesday September 24th, 2002 2:16:11 AM
"Im not bragging." Kale says quietly. knowing that the best thing he can do for his fallen friends is to kill the wemic's quickly, Kale slashes at #4 again(hits ac 27 for 9 pts of damage)
Leets d20+11=25 d8+5=13 d20+8=9 d20+8=22 d4+3=6 Tuesday September 24th, 2002 4:06:39 AM
"You blind fanatics! How do you dare to speak such words to the leader of the Chosen! How do you dare to stab that cowardly! Those are not Domi's way, and you all failed him!"
Yelling such words to the liontaurs, Leets heads in the direction of Ceira at full speed to stand by her side, charging Lt #3. Since the opponents are striking to kill, Leets fiercely uses both his sword and hooves to neutralize his opponent.
(First roll, charging with the longsword 25, 13 damage, second roll for hooves 9, probably misses, third roll for hooves too, 22, 6 damage - corrected thanks to Cayzle note...)

Zeoll the Lesser (inspired, blessed, mage armor, endure elements, down to 11 of 28 hp) Tuesday September 24th, 2002 6:41:33 AM
Zeoll takes a five foot step forward, drags Flat-top out of battle, and feeds him a goodberry (heals the centaur one point and stabilizes him). Then Zeoll moves to Flank the one Kale is fighting. But since his action was to feed Flat-top the berry, the wemic druid/bard cannot attack this round.
Zeoll the Lesser is still singing. (remember everybody -- +1 damage and attacks. Leets and Kale, did you add in the bonus damage?)
Kenisha (Mage Armor - AC 22; Bull's Strength - Str=12, Endure Elements (Fire), Inspired, Blessed, 14 out of 35 HP left) Tuesday September 24th, 2002 7:25:34 AM
Maddened by the location of the wound, Kenisha spits out a venomous, "They seak to assassinate Kalon's unborn child! Kill them!"
She does however have enough presense of mind to take a five foot step west (so that she's just north of Ceira) and pull out her last potion of cure moderate wounds and gets ready to give it to Ceira.
She shouts, "Flank Right, Rhirehan and Ybi. And beware everyone, the coward that stabbed me is a caster of some sort."
Flat-top (-7) Tuesday September 24th, 2002 9:19:45 AM
Flat-top see the battle in slow motion, but never felt the pain of the death strike of the blade. The Wold start to go dark as Flat-top clutches his blessed Morning Star. "Thank-you Domi for giving ma a fighter death..." Flat-top slips into darkness and fall to the ground.
OOC: I calculated as being at -9, BUT the DM is always right so I'll take the -8 and Zeoll's Goodberry taking him up to a stabilized -7.
Ceira (-3 of 21) Tuesday September 24th, 2002 11:56:08 AM
Ceira's limp body gives an involuntary twitch of pain and is motionless again. Another gush of blood spurts from her mouth and trickles down her check as she dreams of the long forgotten peaceful days of her village in Wemic Isle.
(OOC: Kenisha gets ready but hasn't actually given the potion yet right? Geez, I never thought we'd take this bad of a beating. I'll remember to stock up on healing potions if Ceira manages to walk out of this with her head intact.)

Awakened by the painful blow from the axe wielder (Liontaur #3), Brahmah strikes back vengefully, and hacks into the wemic...though it doesn't look very wounded. Kale also connects with his foe (Liontaur #2...unless you changed targets). Despite his brave words, the chain mail clad warrior is beginning to look a little worse for the wear. Leets charges in and slices into the solemn looking wemic with the blow from his sword, although the blows from his hooves bounce of the figure's tough (perhaps too tough?) leather armor.
Meanwhile, Zeoll and Kenisha tend to the fallen. Since Flat-top is unconscious, Zeoll crushes the goodberry and poors the juice down his throat, stabilizing him. Satisfied that the warrior is safe for now, Zeoll heads off to rejoin the battle. Kenisha likewise pours her potion down Ceira's throat (since Kenisha didn't have to move, she is able to remove the potion from her pack and aid Ceira). Ceira regains conciousness, and feels weak, but capable of helping in the fight (Cured 6 hp...so 6-3=3).
Rhirehan and Ybirard move quickly to obey Kenisha's orders. Ybi strikes first, and his blows seem to bounce off of something in front of the lean Liontaur. Rhirehan moves from the other direction and flanks the figure. His longspear pierces the wemic's hindquarters.
Liontaur #1 looks highly annoyed at Rhirehan's attack. "I might have known it would be you Rhirehan....the infidels couldn't find a more weak and useless ally!" He completely ignores Ybirard and turns to strike at Rhirehan. His dagger weaves and bobs, and then slices a gash across Rhirehan's face. "No worry though." Says the hostile wemic "We shall soon rid the Wold of you and these infidels!"
The wemic in chainmail (Liontaur #2) remains unaware of Zeoll's actions as he turns his focus on Kale. Slipping in a puddle of Flat-top's blood, both of his swings go wide, and Kale is left untouched.
Liontaur #3 turns to meet Leets charge, but looks unimpressed by his dialogue. For a few seconds, the assassin almost looks remorseful as he aims his blows at the centaur. Both of the blows from his greatsword clang noisily off of Leets' armor, but his shortsword dishes out a glancing blow (5 hp).
The odd looking tattooed freak (Liontaur #4) licks its lips as he swings his large axe at Brahmah once more. A paw catches on one of the low lying roots, and the wemic stagers as his swing veers wildly off target.
Zeoll the Lesser Delays (inspired, blessed, mage armor, endure elements, down to 11 of 28 hp) Tuesday September 24th, 2002 4:47:36 PM
Zeoll maintains his position opposite Kale flanking the enemy liontaur. He will delay his action until after Kale strikes. While he delays, Zeoll continues to threaten the square in which the enemy stands, so that Kale will gain his sneak attack damage if he hits.
After Kale acts, I'll post again with Zeoll's action.
Janell, could you give us a rough sense of each of the enemies again, their identifying marks, and if they've been wounded yet? That would be a help. Thanks!
Of course, the bard is still singing. (Keep those plusses in mind, friends!)
Sure enough.... Liontaur#1-Lean, mean, and plays with a dagger....seems to be a spellcaster of some sort. Doesn't look very wounded.
Liontaur#2-Chainmail clad warrior with an engraved greatsword. Looks like he's been chewed on quite a bit.
Liontaur#3-Solemn expression, wearing leather armor, and carrying around a greatsword and a longsword. Doesn't look very wounded.
Liontaur#4-Motly looking wemic with matted hair, very crooked teeth, and tattoos all over his arms. Weilds that wicked huge axe. Doesn't look very wounded.
Hope this helps!---Janell
Brahmah Tuesday September 24th, 2002 6:27:51 PM
OOC: Is there a map for round 13 Janell?
As for Brahmah, this poor Chosen has actually had enough of this combat, believe it or not. Brahmah falls back (but ISN'T retreating) NORTH EAST 30ft (between Flat-tops body and Zeoll) in TOTAL DEFENSIVE mode to regain his sense (raises AC +4). The warrior merely wishes to re-access his situation. He thinks to himself. 'Where are my potions? Who's still up? Who looks dead? How's Kenisha, Kalon will never forgive if..... Oh! there's my potion of CURE MODERATE (2d8+3 JANELL??)! Right in my breast pocket.'
(OOC:His AC is 26 versus #4 and 25 versus all others. All he is doing is moving and defending himself page 127 phb)

Kale says to the wemic as his longsword yet again finds a soft spot in his armour(hits ac 2 for 13 pts of damage. plus 3 if i get my sneak attack)

Kenisha smiles as she sees the potion working on Ceira. "There are more potions in my pack, take one please dear friend."
(if she is outside any of the attacker's reach, if not she takes a five foot step away before doing the following) She herself reaches into a side area and pulls out a scroll and casts the spell on it. (Shield which she faces towards LT4 & LT1)
"Two can play at that game, you murderer of innocence!" she growls at the lean liontaur as the spell takes effect.
Zeoll the Lesser (inspired, blessed, mage armor, endure elements, down to 25 of 28 hp) 3d8(4+4+1)+5=14 Tuesday September 24th, 2002 10:31:04 PM
Zeoll stops singing and backs off about 25 feet -- preparing for a leaping charge back into battle next round. Then he drinks a potion of Cure Serious Wounds.
(The bardic inspiration bonuses will continue for 5 rounds. This is the first of 5.)
The magic brings Zeoll the Lesser back into fighting trim (25 of 28 hp).

Brahmah takes a little time to reassess the battle and to heal up a little. As he steps away from the battlefield, the axe wielding wemic (Liontaur #4) takes a swipe at him, but misses once again. Slurping down the potion, Brahmah begins to feel much stronger (10 hp restored...you may use a hero point to reroll if you wish). As he surveys the situation, he sees that everyone but Flat-top is at least conscious. Flat-top looks to be stable and in no present danger....though, if he were healed, he would be very helpful in the battle (hint, hint). He also notices that his backpack, which contains the rest of his potions lies on the ground nearby Kenisha.
Kale slices into Liontaur #2 with his dagger, and the wemic almost goes down to his knees. Meanwhile, Kenisha moves out of the range of Liontaur #4, and casts her spell. Ceira rises to her feet, but is dazed as she searches in Kenisha's pack for another healing potion.
In the meantime, Leets tries to bully Liontaur #3 into submission. The wemic does not seem frightened of the paladin's monologue, and deftly avoids all three of his blows. "Domi's true servants have no fear of death. We will do what we must to ensure that Domi's will is done. We know what we are, and we know what we must do."
Rhirehan roars in anger at Liontaur #1's words "Geaseth, I might have know it would be you. You traitor, you will die on the battlefield today for this injustice!" Rhirehan thrusts his longspear in a well-placed attack, but the spear seems to bounce off some type of field in front of Geaseth. Ybirard, caught off guard by his father's discovery of the assassin's identity, fails to connect with the opponent he is now flanking.
Geaseth (Liontaur #1) sneers at Rhirehan, "Yes, you weakling, it is I. But, know, playtime is over. It is time to end this little game." The lean wemic backs away from Rhirehan and moves into a flanking position with Kale. Both Rhirehan and Ybirard's attacks of opportunity fail to connect with Geaseth, and he casts a spell.
The wemic in chainmail (Liontaur #2) rears back in surprise at Kales' ferocious attack. Reaching back into his backpack, the liontaur pulls out a potion and quickly drains the contents. Some of the wounds that Kale just inflicted begin to close.
The solemn looking wemic (Liontaur #3) nods his head at Geaseth's mention of finishing the game. Once again he brings his swords down in a reign of blows, and once again he only manages to connect with the shortsword (5 hp).
The motley wemic (Liontaur #4) becomes enraged that Brahmah has eluded him, and begins to scream a blood curdling war cry. Spotting Kale, the liontaur moves over to engage, and smashes his axe into his side, opening a large, bleeding gash (17 hp...sheesh, what's up with all the low rolls?!).

While they fight, Leets and the solemn looking Liontaur still talk, or yells, to each other with voices full of religious wrath.
"The One who truly serves Domi should fear worst things than death! You came invisible to us and stroke in our backs! There is no bravery in your acts, and Domi would never have asked his worshipers do do such a coward thing! Whoever you are serving, it is not Domi, and the righteousness of my blows will convince you if my words don't!"
First roll 22 to hit with longsword, 6 damage, 25 to hot with hoof, 4 damage, 10 to hit with hoof (miss), and finally a diplomacy roll, which is first a critical failure with 1(+5), rerolled with 1 hero point, 16.

Ceira Thursday September 26th, 2002 2:57:47 AM
Not being very effective in melee combat, Ceira immediately retreats to the space between Kenisha and Brahmah's backpack.
Upon regaining her senses she thanks Kenisha for the potion, "I owe you one. Now let's see if we can rescue a few more." Ceira leans in close to whisper to Kenisha, "I would like to take all of your remaining potions. I will follow up with an Invisibility spell so I can walk around healing our warriors without detection. What do you think?"
(OOC: If yes, she'll dig around Kenisha's backpack. I'm not sure how this all equates to a move equivalent action though. If there are some partial actions leftover, I'll have Ceira dig around Brahmah's backpack to pick up any extra healing potions. I'll pay you back. ^_^)
Brahmah weighs his options d20+10=27 d4+8=11 d4=2 Thursday September 26th, 2002 4:49:20 AM
OOC: Ceira, healing others is a LOVELY idea. :)
IC: Brahmah, seeing that the battle has shifted, he looks to a different tactic than the standard attack. He focuses his gaze on the tattooed liontaurs (#4) greataxe and charges to SUNDER (using SUNDER feat)the haft of the axe. He's charging into FLANKING position as well (+2 charge, +2 flank) with Kale. Brahmah shifts his DODGE from #4 to #2 to raise his AC versus #2 to 20 (against an attack of opportunity he expects from #2), AC 19 versus anyone else for this round. (Attack breakdown, +11 Falchion, +1 Bless, +1 Inspired, +2 charge and +2 Flanking= +17 -7 from power attack= +10) Brahmah hits AC 27 (opposed attack rolls or Brahmah successfully strikes the haft), doing 20 points of damage (13 rolled +7 POWER ATTACK =20) to the haft (5 hardness, 10 hit points) of his great axe, sending splinters of wood flying.
(If the axe breaks) "Ooooh! Did I break your concentration?! AND your LITTLE toy?!!" As the cocky minoTaur taunts the tattooed liontaur traitor.
Wow, Jay, way to think outside of the box! 200 xp for this ingenious, creative tactic!---Janell
Brahmah (addendum) Thursday September 26th, 2002 4:51:21 AM
Brahmah as part of his movement draws his other Falchion as he charges.
Kenisha (Mage Armor, Shield - AC 29; Bull's Strength - Str=12, Endure Elements (Fire), Inspired, Blessed, 14 out of 35 HP left) 3d4(4+4+3)+3=14 Thursday September 26th, 2002 7:04:55 AM
Kenisha nods to Ceira, "There are 4 cure lights left in my pack."
She drops her pack to the ground and with wand in hand, charges between the two sides of the fight (doing a friendly move through Rhirehan's square) and loops back north and west so that she's now to the east of Geaseth and providing Ybirard flanking.
(Shield is to her front half which is facing Geaseth)
She points her wand at liontaur#1 (Geaseth) and hits him with 14 HP from all three missiles
Flat-top Thursday September 26th, 2002 8:11:09 AM
Still in the darkness of his coma, Flat-top lies there very still.
Kale 2d8(7+6)+5=18 Thursday September 26th, 2002 8:56:19 AM
reeling from the mad wemics blow, Kale fishes out a potion from his belt and downs it in one gulep(potion of cure moderate wounds for 18 pts) then he grips his longsword(i guess it looks like a dagger in his hands) tightly, knowing that the fight is about to end, one way or another.
Ummm...whoopsee...I must have been thinking of a different rogue! A thousand appologies.---Janell
Ceira Friday September 27th, 2002 1:34:11 AM
(OOC: No combat map or did I not receive one?)
Ceira pockets Kenisha's potions and takes one 5ft. step away from the nearest foe before chanting the magical words of Invisibility.
Ceira, Combat map 15 should be in your mailbox now, if not, please email me.---Janell

Zeoll leaps onto Liontaur #2 and his claws rip the wemic's flesh open. His first paw bounces off the chain mail, but the second claw slices the wemic's throat open. Gurgling a bloody cough, the liontaur falls to the ground as its life blood seeps from it's opened throat.
The debate continues between Leets and the solemn wemic (Liontaur #3). Leets manages to make a lasting impression on the wemic with one of his hooves, but his other blows continue to bounce off that pesky leather armor. The wemic looks on calmly as Leets yells at him. "So, you're friend over there." The wemic jerks his head in Kale's direction. "He must be a coward too...for he also struck in a cowardly manner."
Ceira loads herself up with the healing potions from Kenisha's backpack (does she drink another potion to up her own hp?). As she juggles the potions, she mummers a few arcane words and then disappears from sight.
Brahmah comes up with a brilliant idea, and instead of focusing on Liontaur #4, singles out that nasty looking axe. Sneaking up behind the wemic, he aims a tremendous blow at his foe's weapon. Surprisingly, the liontaur does not appear to be caught off guard, and he moves his axe away just in time to avoid the blow (opposed check=31).
Kenisha lights up the night with her magic missiles. They speed their way toward Geaseth, but fizzle into nothing a few feet from the wemic.
Kale prepares for the coming onslaught and drinks down his potion. The wound administered by Liontaur #4 heals completely.
Rhirehan pounces forward toward Geaseth, with a determined look on his face. "You won't get away with this, you coward. I'll see that you pay for the treachery of this day." Taking up a flanking position, Rhirehan swings his longspear with all his might....and manages to open a tiny cut. Ybirard follows his father's example, and thrusts his longspear at Geaseth, but once again misses (will someone please train him how to use this thing?!).
Geaseth smiles wickedly at Rhirehan, and then thrusts his dagger at Kale. Geaseth strikes with uncanny precision, as if he knew exactly where Kale was going to be when he struck. His blade slices into the tendons in the back on Kale's rear right leg (a measly 16 hp). Oddly, the lean wemic does not look thrilled at the outcome of his attack.
Liontaur #3 continues his debate with Leets in between blows (which all miss). "Tell me, oh centaur....where were your people when mine were being ravaged by disease?! Where were the noble centaurs when our people were starving to death?! Where were you when our mothers and fathers were burned alive by the hounds from hell?! It is by Domi's grace that we survived, and we will not allow you to pollute our people's minds with your heresy about joining with the centaurs and minotaurs. "
Liontaur #4 turns his rage once more upon Brahmah. "You want break axe? I break axe on you!" The large weapon of death arcs down and slices through Brahmah's body, almost cutting him in half (19 hp). Once again, the brave warrior's blood drenches the ground, and he quickly passes into unconsciousness. Jay, I rolled your stabilization for you...66. You don't stabilize, and I know show you at --9 hp. :(----Janell
Zeoll the Lesser (AC 19, inspired, blessed, mage armor, endure elements, down to 25 of 28 hp) d20+7=8 d20+7=27 d20+7=8 d4+3=7 Friday September 27th, 2002 10:03:39 AM
Zeoll the Lesser takes a five-foot step up and attacks the liontaur that felled Brahmah. As he does so, he yells loudly: QUICK! SOMEONE HEAL BRRAHMAH RRIGHT NOW!
Zeoll takes on the Liontaur, so that someone else can tend to the fallen minotaur. He tries to position himself so that his opponent is between himself and Ybirard (hoping for a flanking bonus).
He attacks, still feeling inspired by his own song. He trips on one paw and falls to one knee (rolled a natural one!). But this mishap gives him a great angle, and the other paw rips his foe's underside (rolled a natural 20!! no crit).
The wemic considers himself lucky just to do some damage to his foe -- a scratch for 7 hp damage.
[OOC: This is the third round since Zeoll stopped singing. His inspiration will last another two rounds.]
Leets d20+5=18 d20+5=20 Friday September 27th, 2002 3:10:04 PM
Leets wonders if they aren't all doing a terrible mistake, and if both sides aren't sheding blood stupidly...Deciding to give a chance to peace, he decides to only defend himself (Total Defense, now CA 29)as he sheathes his sword. He tries to answer while trying to avoid the blows of his opponent (if he still attacks him).
"Your words, Liontaur, resounds in my ears, as the words of the Minotaurs who killed my father! The disease brought away my mother as we were under siege, and still her last words were for Domi and the Taur race! See this sword Liontaur! It was HER sword! And I won't use it to spill the blood of another Taur, especially if he calls the name of Domi! I have seen, with my own eyes, the original Taur Domi gave to the Wold! I know our races will unite sooner or later, because it is Domi's will, and because we have to be one people once more to face the ultimate evil together! If today's Chosen, if I among them, don't manage to succeed in this holy quest, others will come and will succeed because such is the will of Domi!"
"Now, strike me once more if you think our words is heresy! But if I fall you'll soon have to remember me as the one who didn't want to strike a brother!"
(Rolling for Diplomacy: first 18, using one more hero point to reroll, 20).

Kale d20+9=28 d20+9=22 d8+5=13 d8+5=13 Saturday September 28th, 2002 9:08:33 AM
gripping his wounded leg, Kale drops to one knee. then moveing quickly he strikes at the wemic who stabbed him in the leg(critical hit of 28(19) followed by a 22 for 13 and 13 - 26 total if critical). "When I die, ill say hi to your friend to you." Kale says softly as he nodds his head at the fallen wemic
Kenisha Kenisha (Mage Armor, Shield - AC 29; Bull's Strength - Str=12, Endure Elements (Fire), Inspired, Blessed, 14 out of 35 HP left) 3d4(3+4+4)+3=14 Sunday September 29th, 2002 11:02:09 PM
Kenisha will ready an action to attack liontaur#1 after everyone else has gone.
If #1 moves his shield facing to the opposite of her, she will use the wand to attack (see damage below).
If he doesn't move his shield facing or moves it to face her, she will move away so that she can attack the opposite side of the shield facing (even if this gives him an attack of oportunity as she leave!) with the wand (see damage below).
Regardless, she will keep her shield facing towards liontaur#1.
magic missile damage from wand to #1 equal= 14 HP
Ceira d20+3=18 d20+1=2 Monday September 30th, 2002 2:31:22 AM
(OOC: No, Ceira didn't quaff any of the potions. She'll take her chances by staying invisible)
While invisible, Ceira hustles over to Flat-top's limp form and empties the whole bottle of Kenisha's Cure Light Wounds into her mouth.
While waiting for a response from Flat-top, she scans the area for any additional foes that may still be lurking. (OOC: Spot=18, Listen=2)

Zeoll launches himself against the mangy looking wemic, opening up a nice wound in his soft belly. While Leets once again tries for a peaceful solution, Ceira heads over to Flat-top's side, and pours the potion down his throat (2 hp healed). A couple of minor looking wounds close up, but Flat-top remains unconscious. Ceira scans the area, and notices movement in the grass near the downed Liontaur #2. The limp body moves rapidly away from the battlefield, as if being drug away, leaving a bloody trail behind. It's form quickly disappears into the undergrowth. She also notices Brahmah lying very still on the battlefield and that the blood has stopped flowing from the massive gash in his side.
Geaseth grins evilly at Kale's comment. "Oh, I don't think so. This isn't over yet...." Kenisha's magic missiles smash into Geaseth's body, and the wemic growls in annoyance.
Making good use of their flanking positions, both Rhirehan and Ybirard manage to connect with Geaseth. Eyes wide in surprise, Geaseth collapses in a heap at their feet.
The solemn looking wemic (Liontaur #2) gives Leets an appraising look. "Perhaps we are not as different as it would at first glance appear." Sheathing his weapons, the wemic reaches in his pack, and withdraws a potion. He then trots over to Geaseth's fallen side. Rhirehan and Ybirard both make attacks of opportunity against the liontaur. Rhirehan does not connect, but Ybi opens a large gap in the warrior's side.
The tattooed (Liontaur #4) wemic's face contorts with rage, as his blood curdling war cry continues. Grasping the axe so hard that his knuckles turn white, he smashes his weapon down on Zeoll, inflicting 11 hp of damage.

(OOC: Those who want/need healing should tell me their hp. Right now I don't know who is worse, Brahmah or Flat-top. If that's inappropriate meta-gaming then nevermind.)
Out of nowhere, a voice cries out, "Careful Kenisha! Something's in the grass near you!"
Ceira is unsure whether Brahmah has stabilized or has completely run out of blood. Not waiting for a response from Flat-top, she uncorks the next Cure Light Wounds potion and pours it down Brahmah's throat.
She continues with her scouting (Spot=21, Listen=19)
Leets d20+5=19 Tuesday October 1st, 2002 6:07:02 AM
"Rhirehan! Ybirard! Stop this!!!"
In the middle of the battle, Leets desesperatly tries to make the slaughter stop.
"Chosens! All the brave warriors who are now fighting, on both side, are doing a horrible mistake!"
(Diplomacy roll 19) "We musn't strike our kind, the blood of Taurs flows in the veins of those Liontaurs too!"
"Liontaurs brothers! Stop this battle now, and let's give a chance to peace!"
To end, Leets tries to place himself between Rhirehan, Ybirard and the solemn looking wemic, blocking their way.
Kenisha Kenisha (Mage Armor, Shield - AC 29; Bull's Strength - Str=12, Endure Elements (Fire), Inspired, Blessed, 14 out of 35 HP left) d20+3=16 Tuesday October 1st, 2002 7:22:44 AM
"That is true, Leets, but that frothing maniac over there" (pointing to liontaur#4) "doesn't seem like he's listening to anything right now but the blood in his ears!" Kenisha says as she scans the grass where Ceira pointed out after she moves over to Ceira and the fallen Flat-top.
She will keep her shield facing towards Liontaur#4 unless she spots something with her Spot check of 16.

A Fork in the Road (DM Janell) d8+1=9 d20+8=11 d8+1=6 Tuesday October 1st, 2002 11:00:23 PM
The invisible Ceira makes her way over to Brahmah, and from her up close perspective, she can see that Brahmah is still alive, but holding on by a thread. She gently pours the liquid down the minotaur's throat, and watches as the massive laceration in his side closes completely (9hp healed). His pulse becomes stronger, and his eyes flutter open as he regains consciousness.
Rhirehan and Ybirard are hesitant, but they lower their weapons slightly as Leets steps in to protect the solemn liontaur. They do, however, keep a watchful eye on the tattooed freak.
Kale's longsword (see I got it right!) connects with the freak (Liontaur #4), but the wemic spins in time to defend against the sneak attack. Kale gets the feeling that it would be impossible to flank the warrior.
Neither Ceira nor Kenisha see or hear any signs of trouble or movement in the grasses around them.
The solemn looking wemic (Liontaur #2) pours his potion down Geaseth's throat, and his wounds heal, although the wemic does not regain consciousness. For just an instant, Leets thinks he sees a glimmer of respect in the wemic's eyes. Jerking his head in the direction of Liontaur #4, he says "Yes, your companion is correct....Worgred is very unreasonable when he enters his battle rage. But I can guarantee that your friend's actions (motioning at Kale) will not help matters any."
As if in support of the wemic's words, Liontaur #4, face filled with fury, lashes out at Kale. The mighty axe swings just a few inches from Kale's ear, and manages to narrowly miss the minotaur.
Kenisha Kenisha (Mage Armor, Shield - AC 29; Bull's Strength - Str=12, Endure Elements (Fire), Inspired, Blessed, 14 out of 35 HP left) Tuesday October 1st, 2002 11:23:06 PM
Her voice as cold as death, Kenisha tells the solemn wemic, "Then I would suggest you do something about it."
To her fellow Chosen she says, "Back off. Death is no victory between Taurs. As much as I'd like to see these assassins burn for all eternity for what they've done to their brothren, their deaths will only widen the abyss that separates our peoples."
She turns back to liontaur#2 and adds, "But do not think that you will escape justice. The wrongs of this night must be judged by your own people."
Brahmah, back in the land of the living Wednesday October 2nd, 2002 12:39:49 AM
His eyes flutter to narrow slits, but he makes no sudden movement to stand as he did the first time he fell in this combat. Having heard Leets and Kenisha's negotiation tactics, Brahmah whispers to his unknown medic. "Whose the Taur who healed me? Give me another curative, so that I might stand on my own. Please. I will not fight, but I won't lay here either when the Chosen need me." The minoTaur gropes around in the dark red haze, blood filling his eyes. Thinking to himself and perhaps trying to convince himself; 'The HellHounds were NOT the things that fell me, it was the traitors! HellHounds, MERE pups!'
OOC:Brahmah is currently at 1 of 49 hit points.
Flat-top (-5) Wednesday October 2nd, 2002 12:45:38 AM

Ceira Wednesday October 2nd, 2002 2:05:43 AM
Ceira's floating voice whispers into Brahmah's ear. "Shh... It's me, Ceira. Lay still so you don't generate any attention. First, I must tend to our other friend Flat-top. I may need the last potion to wake him up."
She uncorks one of her two remaining potions and pours it down Flat-top's throat.
Leets Wednesday October 2nd, 2002 5:11:59 AM
"Kenisha is right, and justice will have to be made! Neither you nor us will find answers in blood!"
Talking to the solemn looking Wemic, Leets goes on:
"I don't know your name Liontaur, but I know we are a part of the same people. You may have been mislead, or maybe we misunderstood your own ways and offended you without even knowing it!"
"But from a Taur to another Taur I ask you, make this battle stop, so that we can work on this in a civilized way!"
Kale Wednesday October 2nd, 2002 9:06:35 AM
"This is ridiculous." Kale mutters under his breath, but none the less he follows his leaders orders and stays his attack
Zeoll the Lesser d20+12=22 Wednesday October 2nd, 2002 9:20:24 AM
Zeoll, having hung back, continues to be watchful. Then he has an idea. "Let my music calm this savage beast!" he declares, pointing to the beserking liontaur. "All otherrs hold yourr attacks!"
He uses his last bardic song of the day to try to Fascinate the beserker. ("The bard makes a Perform check, and the target can negate the effect with a Will saving throw equal to or greater than the bard's check result. If the saving throw fails, the creature sits quietly and listens to the song for up to 1 round per level of the bard.")
The liontaur bard whirls his bullroarer overhead and sings a calming song to the berserker. (Will save DC = 22)
[OOC: I'm really sorry, everyone, for not posting. I'm on vacation in Idaho and I thought I would post more, but oh well. I WILL post the rest of the week daily!]
Music Soothes the Savage Beast (DM Janell) d20+4=13 Wednesday October 2nd, 2002 11:38:26 AM
The solemn looking wemic finishes tending to Geaseth, and turns to face Kenisha. "What would you have me do about him...run in front of his axe?! Words will no longer reach him. I suggest that you have your companions leave him. His rage will subside eventually." The wemic nods as Kale backs down.
The berserk wemic begins to advance after the retreating Kale, but stops as he is caught in fascination by Zeoll's song. Lowering his axe, the anger begins to fade from the warrior's face, and he begins to pant as if out of breath. Looking exhausted, the tattooed wemic leans up against a nearby tree and begins to doze off! (Great job Cayzle!!!!!!!!!)
Liontaur #2 smiles at Zeoll and the sleeping barbarian. "Looks like your ally figured it out on his own." He turns to Leets as he flings Geaseth's prone form on his back. "It would appear that you have more wisdom than I would have previously ascribed to your race. My name is Tashmek, and I do not care about justice from my fellow Taurs. You claim that Domi wishes to unite all the Taurs... this is blasphemy to my ears, and many of my fellow wemics. Many fools like Geaseth would choose to prove their cause by bloodshed, but your words tonight have reached my ears. Make no mistake, Domi will make it known who is right. But now I must go, and you should too, for there are more swords that hunger for blood waiting in the darkness." Tashmek turns and runs off into the darkness.
Well done! No further combat maps for a while.---Janell
Brahmah d20=7 Wednesday October 2nd, 2002 4:42:10 PM
Tired of remaining on his back, Brahmah flops over on his side, then onto his stomach and slowly pushes himself up to his hooves. "Uurgf." He moans as pain shoots through his body, then he falls back onto his rump in a sitting position. "Well, this is better than being on my back!" Laughs the minoTaur. "Words as swords, songs as battle cries. That's what the bards and scholars will write about the Chosen when we are gone." The minoTaur says with a smile. "But I still trust the steel!" "How's Flat-top, is he dead?"
OOC:Which opponents are still hanging around that can be seen (Spot of 7)? OOC:How many potions were used? How many came from Brahmah's pack? Just curious. When battle started, potions started flying around. :) Who still has a spell left?
Flat-top (-5) Wednesday October 2nd, 2002 6:09:26 PM

Kenisha (Mage Armor, Shield - AC 29; Bull's Strength - Str=12, Endure Elements (Fire), Inspired, Blessed, 14 out of 35 HP left) Wednesday October 2nd, 2002 11:37:44 PM
Kenisha shaqkes her head sadly as the wemic disappears into the darkness. Surveying the area she asks, "Ceira? Do you still have any of the potions left? Flat-top is still down. He is still breathing, right?"
She winced as the pain came back to the wound in her flank. Adrenalin might be handy in a fight, but it could deaden the pain for only so long. "We need to get back as soon as possible. How is everyone doing? I myself will be in no condition to travel hard without healing."
ooc-I only used the one potion of yours that you handed to me, Brahmah; and at my last estimation, I should still have one cure light potion left in Ceira's hands.
Brahmah (Jay) Thursday October 3rd, 2002 12:31:29 AM
OOC: There were only ten potions in the potion box in Brahmah's backpack. I used my own potion of Cure Moderate myself, it was in my pocket. I count two that healed me both times I fell.
Who used the potions from Brahmah's pack? :) I don't want reparations or replacements, I'm just curious and trying to keep an accurate count. Seems to me, we used many potions in that combat.
Zeoll the Lesser Thursday October 3rd, 2002 12:56:41 AM
The liontaur feeds Flat-top four goodberries, healing him for four points. Then he casts a cure minor wounds spell on the centaur for one more point.
Ceira Thursday October 3rd, 2002 1:00:21 AM
(OOC: I only picked up four potions from Kenisha's pack so I didn't pick up any from Brahmah. I have two of Kenisha's potions left since the potion from my previous turn wasn't accounted for towards Flat-top's HP.)
Ceira pours one Cure Light Wound potion into Flat-top's mouth. If he still has not arisen, she will pour the second. She remains invisible for the full duration of the spell just in case.
As soon as Ceira is done, she slumps down to the ground and rests (others can only observe an indentation in the ground). Her intense focus on trying to heal her friends ignored the pain of her injuries. Now, the wracking pain from her injuries resurfaces and she cringes as she lies still. "Let me rest a bit." Ceira says.
Brahmah Thursday October 3rd, 2002 1:57:54 AM
"Feed Flat-top as many of my potions as you feel you need to, Ceira." Says the very unhealthy and sore minoTaur. "He's not to well. I think he should walk out on his own. Get him on his feet." (OOC:I refuse to carry his fat body around everywhere we go ;) )
Kale d20+5=12 Thursday October 3rd, 2002 4:31:30 AM
cleaning his sword on the body of a hellhound, Kale says "We are all beat up pretty bad. Though we are all tired and wounded, we need to leave here as fast as we can. Not only are there others around who want our heads, but there may still be hellhounds around." then Kale scans the area quickly to see if there is any immediate danger(spot of 12)
OOC the potion i used was my own
Leets Thursday October 3rd, 2002 9:03:42 AM
Not really satisfied with the last words of the Liontaurs, Leets still prepares for more danger...
"I bet this is only begining...Let's go back to the village so that we can think of all this."
He then trots to Flat-Top, terribly sorry not to be able to help his friend. He tries to lift him, and ask for Brahmah.
"Brahmah, let's bring him back, he'll be less heavy if we are two..."
Flat-top d8+1=7 Thursday October 3rd, 2002 10:43:04 AM
When Zeoll fed the Centaur Goodberries and cast the spell, Flat-top (0hp) started to move around a bit but was still unconscious. Ceira poured a CLW potion in him, Now Flat-top started to ster and get up on his hoves, "Thank you Fellow Taurs, I don't remember any thing. Is everybody alright?"
OOC: Ceira did not roll for the CLW hps. so I did it for her.
The Summons (DM Janell) Thursday October 3rd, 2002 1:47:14 PM
As the Chosen take a much needed breather, some get to their feet, while others find the need to rest. Brahmah and Kale survey the battlefield, and both notice that the backpack that was on Liontaur #2's body is now lying in the grass in a pool of blood. They also hear the obnoxiously loud sound of the tattooed wemic's snoring, which drowns out almost all of the surrounding noise. Kale goes over and cautiously lifts the flap on the pack. Inside he can see four small bottles of liquid. Upon inspection, he finds the bottles clearly labeled: Wisdom, Delay Poison, Reduce (at 5th level), and Jump. Enjoy! I won these potions for you in the DM lottery. :)
The party continues to scan the horizon for signs of trouble, but for right now, there are none. After a short amount of rest, it is decided that it would be for the best if you make your way back to the village. Besides, day break is almost upon you, and Rhirehan reminds you that the hunt will soon be called to an end for the night. As you struggle through the undergrowth, you come upon a horrific discovery. A few miles away from where the battle took place lies Tashmek's dead body. On first glance, it would appear that his throat has been torn out by a hellhound. However, closer inspection shows the wound to be too uniform. The edges of the wound are smooth, as if severed by a very sharp weapon. Startled by the discovery, Rhirehan urges the party toward the party at a faster pace.
Through much effort, you are able to make it back to the village before sunrise. Rhasa waits anxiously at the outskirts of the village, and runs to embrace Rhirehan upon sighting the party. Visibly relieved, she kisses Ybirard on the cheek. "My warriors have returned unharmed! Praise be to Domi!" Examining the severely wounded party, Rhasa says "It must have been a good hunt. I'll bet you finished off several whole packs! You can tell me all about it after we get you off to the priest's tent." Truly a mother at heart, Rhasa escorts you a small white tent set up in the middle of the fair grounds. Several priests of Domi bustle around, making there way among several wounded wemics, healing bites, and tending to burns. After a few minutes, the priests are able to tend to the Chosen's hunting party, and it is not long before you are restored to full health. Ybirard spends the time telling his mother about the bravery of the Chosen during the hunt and how he was able to bring down a hound by himself. "But the oddest thing happened, right after the last group of hounds attacked..." Rhirehan looks at his son sternly "Enough Ybi, the Chosen must report the other happenings to the Council of Elders. It is not right to discuss such things at this time." The party is tended, and is heading out of the priest's tent, when you are met by several well armed wemics. "Rhirehan, you and your party are summoned to the Council of the Elders. Please come with us. The matter is urgent, and the Elders wish to speak with you without delay."
Once again, well done! 200 xp each for Zeoll's and Leets creative problem solving!---Janell
Leets Thursday October 3rd, 2002 3:10:55 PM
"It looks like we won't have rest right now. I'm not sure our minds will be clear enough to meet the council, but we probably can learn more about those Liontaurs who tried to kill us..."
Leets was wondering which reasons could lead an entire group of Taurs to plan the Chosen murder...To his eyes, reuniting the Taurs was a holy quest, and he never thought this could appear as a blasphemy to others...It was only the proof that they still had to learn much about each other...
"How about you Flat-Top? You really scared all of us! And you too Brahmah! I thought Marteaus was the greatest danger we could meet, but I was really wrong..."
Flat-top [62] Thursday October 3rd, 2002 7:22:27 PM
Flat-top is talking to the healers (Priest of Domi), "Please in Domi's name (Flat-top put his hands together and bows his head at Domi's name) take extra care of our Leader Kenisha, you see she is with foal. And her mate dies in the Great Battle of the Gods to save the wold. Thank you, and I know you'll do your very best."
Then he goes over to Leet and the rest of the party , "Yes! I'm fine now, BUT I could have seen Brahmah all sprawl out on the ground." Then Flat-top winks at Ceira and puts his hand on his Brahmahs shoulder, "Well done Friend, Well, Done all. Now let's go see what the Counsel wants??"
Kenisha Thursday October 3rd, 2002 10:09:07 PM
Feeling much better now that she's been tended to and reassured that her foal has taken no harm, Kenisha moves over to the others.
"Everyone alright? Let's go see the council. And then I think we'll have to have a council of our own once we've rested."
Brahmah, Shaken Friday October 4th, 2002 2:51:47 AM
Since the fight, Brahmah hasn't been his jovial old self. The minoTaur seems thoughtful and reverant almost, if you didn't know better, he might be preoccupied by thought.
"Thank you Flat-top, but while I love a good victory, it seems almost hollow. We let the infidels go, alive none the less. They are disHonorable, and when I see our tattooed friend again, he WILL DIE BY MY HAND and sleep eternally, by the grace of Domi! Let Domi judge." He seems almost confused by his own words, but they just came to him. "I'm sorry! The hate almost consumed me just then. I'll control myself if we meet him again, in peace. I'm not Domi's Hand, not yet. If he attacks our Holy leader however (motioning to Kenisha), I will judge him. No one get in my way."
To Flat-top. "Friend, I was wrapped in shadow as I layed there dying. I heard whispers of ancesters calling me home. I was dead, traveling the land of shadow. I was in the footsteps of all fallen Taurs, I felt it."
OOC: What is the DM's count on Brahmah potions?
Ybirard and Rhirehan used up two of Brahmah's Cure light wounds. The rest of the potions still remain.---Janell
Ceira Friday October 4th, 2002 2:57:47 AM
"I'm glad we all managed to walk away from that fiasco. Especially for Kenisha." Ceira says with a wink. "I wonder what the Council wants with us? There are still more hellhounds out there."
Kale Friday October 4th, 2002 7:59:12 AM
before they go back, Kale takes the potions, but leaves the backpack behind, to be passed out later. once everyone is healed and headed to the council, Kale whispers to Kenisha "Ive seen things like this before. We're probably being set up as murderers of those wemics. Be on your guard."
Zeoll the Lesser Friday October 4th, 2002 9:07:06 AM
[OOC: There were four traitor wemics originally, right? Tashmek was the more honorable one who chose to stop fighting. Geaseth was knocked unconscious, but Tashmek stabilized him and carried him off. Presumably Tashmek also led off the tatooed barbarian. That left one traitor dead on the field of battle.]
Zeoll asks for the potion of Wisdom, "for it will aid me in my mirracle-worrking in Domi's name."
Zeoll looks at the corpse of his fallen foe. "He may be a traitorr, but we cannot leave his body as carrrion for hell hounds. Come, my frriends, help me carrry this body back with us." Zeoll also looks over the body for anything of value. "We shall claim his belongings as trrophies of war. Ceirra, Kenisha, can you tell if therre is any magic on him?"
Zeoll, alone or with help, carries the body back.
When they find Tashmek, Zeoll bows his head. "Herre we see morre signs of the corrruption of theirr cause -- they slay not only theirr fellow Taurr, but even theirr own cohorrts! Herre we see the shame of the liontaurrs in cold blood made plain!" The druid offers a prayer, which he did not for the other dead traitor. "May Domi guide his soul to the Lands of Rrest, wherre sweet gazelles shall fall underr his paws, and he can learrn the trruth of Domi's worrd."
"This one, too -- morre even than the otherr -- we cannot leave to be mauled by hell hounds. Come, frriends, and carrry this one back too!"
At the village, Zeoll thanks the healers and bows, but he refuses to relinquish the dead. "These fallen trraitorrs we must brring to the Elderrs, as prroof that the evil of kinslaying has come to us!"
Yes, there were four traitors. However, Liontaur #2 was dragged away by an invisible source. The only body that is available to bring into the town is Tashmek's.---Janell
Liar, Liar (DM Janell) Monday October 7th, 2002 11:01:26 PM
The guards stare at Zeoll as he drags Tashmek's body with him. The party is escorted into the center of town where a large thatch building is set apart from all the other structures. Two guards stand at the front doors with longspears baring the entrance. Your escorts nod to the guards, and they open the doors for you to enter. The breaking dawn sends golden rays into the interior of the massive room.
A raised platform is positioned at the front of the room, and five elderly wemics look down on you as you are ushered into the center of the room. Some of you may recognize one of the wemics as being the elder who made the announcement at the Hellhound festival. There is little time for reminiscing, however, as the elder in the center begins to speak as soon as you are all inside. "Let the Council begin. Bring in the accuser." A side door is opened, and a very familiar figure struts to stand before the council. It is none other than Geaseth!
The lean wemic struts cockily toward the council and bows his head. "Honorable Council, I would not have asked for an audience at this early hour if the matter was not extremely urgent. But the risk to our tribes are too great, so I thought that I should bring this matter to you as soon as I could." Geaseth takes a long breath and makes an effort to "compose" himself. "As with all of the able bodied warriors, I and my clan went out to join in the hunt tonight. All was going well, and we were beginning to head back to the village when they (Geaseth points to the party) appeared out of nowhere, and attacked my party. We were just barely able to fight them off, and made our way back as soon as possible to warn the Council."
Rhirehan's eyes blaze with fury as Geaseth makes his accusations. No longer able to contain himself, he advances toward Geaseth. "Why you lying coward, I ought to rip your throat out right here!" Two guards separate the two, as the center elder calls for silence. Murderous glances are exchanged between Geaseth and Rhirehan as the elder speaks. "Geaseth, I assume that you have witnesses to vouch for your accusation?" Geaseth nods his affirmation. "Your witnesses will be questioned." The elder turns his attention to the Chosen. "The charges leveled against you are serious. What answer do you have for these allegations?"
Brahmah, The Accused Tuesday October 8th, 2002 1:08:54 AM
Brahmah can hardly contain his anger which is very noticable. Speaking in Tauric. "Honorable Council, we're Chosen. We Honor Domi by telling truths and this Coward sulleys the good name of Domi by lying to you. This fellow (pointing to Tashmek's body) left the combat in peace, we some how reached him with Domi's words. We found his body awhile later after we left the hunt, now, I'm NO genious but I think he was killed for his apparent weakness. Geaseth, we left the tattooed axe wielding Taur sleeping in the battlefield, DID YOU GO BACK AND KILL HIM TOO??" He clears his throat. "I didn't have the opportunity to see alot of the fight. I was... out of commission, critically wounded by the tattooed Taur, who isn't currently present." He looks at Geaseth, then approaches the Council. "I have to admit, when my instincts took over, I began to strike back at these Taurs. Before I was Chosen, hate consumed me, now hate confuses me and I don't understand it at all. I fight for Taurs, not against them, not willingly."
Flat-top Tuesday October 8th, 2002 2:53:04 AM
Flat-top stand there next to Brahmah, "I cannot believe my ears, if it was not for Ceira, one of you own and a chosen one at that. We, Brahmah and I would be dead right now. If it was not for Zeoll, A Wemic I must remind you, and taur Kale who alerted us to the fact that those hellhounds WERE being herded to this village, Things would have been very different, my friend. We were back stab and I can prove that." Flat-top taking Kenisha's hand and showing the wounds in her side, "Here look at the wounds in rear side almost killing her unborn colt. If it was not for taur Leets here, talking some sence into the heads of our attackers. You people would have a lot of trouble on your hands." Flat-top turns and look to Leets and whispers to him, *Leets try to pound sense into him or we'll all dead I fear.*
Leets d20+5=23 d20+5=25 Tuesday October 8th, 2002 6:24:56 AM
"Not only those charges, venerable elder, are serious, but they strike my Taur heart as surely as any iron blade."
"There is much hatred, fear and anger in this whole affair, feelings that are a counterpart to our very Taur nature, made of powerful instincts and pride."
"The allegations of Taur Geaseth, of course, are his own version of the facts, and the wound in the side of our Leader, Taur Kenisha, can partially prove that we were attacked first."
"Attacked, venerable elder, by Taur Geaseth and a group of Liontaurs blinded by fanatism. Their motive, and those are their own words, are to make the Taur unification fail, because it is an heresy to their eyes. Taur Geaseth, am I wrong or not?"
"Cultural misunderstanding, venerable elder, is also at the very center of this. But the most sad thing to my eyes is the way Taur Geaseth opposed us in our holy quest. Wherever the Chosen have been seen, venerable elder, they have always been opened to diplomacy and always have been ready to talk. My only regret is not to have been able to talk with Taur Geaseth before he attempted this treacherous murder. Won't you regret too, Taur Geaseth?"
"I will remember this hellhound hunt for a long time, venerable elder. First because of those events, they will teach us much. Secondly because of the scars I will bear. Look at those wounds, Taur Geaseth. Those are not wounds made by your blades. Those are wounds made hellhounds claws."
"Venerable elder. I am sure you enjoyed those hellhound hunts too, and bear much scars too, like the chosen here and like any Liontaur who was hunting last night. But I am almost sure that Taur Geaseth, an experienced hunter, now before us, won't be able to show us any wound made by a hellhound claw. Taur Geaseth, could you? Of course not!!! Because in your cowardly plan, you prefered to wait for us to be weakened by a hellhound attack before attacking us! Didn't you plan to attack us last night Taur Geaseth? Weren't you there not to hunt hellhounds, but to hunt the Chosen, because you can't bear the idea of the Taur unification?!? I know, Taur Geaseth, why you did attack us last night, but could you explain why the Chosen of Domi would have done such a thing!!!"
"We Chosen, venerable elder, also have witnesses, hundreds of witnesses in fact, venerable elder, my Liontaur friends who are there beeing the first, who could tell you that we had no reason to do such a thing. I will now wait for your own witnesses, Taur Geaseth, and I want them to swear on this holy symbol of Domi that they will tell the truth."
Leets then offers Geaseth a wooden holy symbol of Domi he was wearing around his neck.
"I am, Taur Geaseth, the first to swear in Domi's name that I never wanted to arm you and that I tried to make this battle stop once it begun. Now could you say you can be the second and do the same?"
"Venerable elder, I have nothing else to add for now..."
(Rolled for diplomacy, first roll 23, spending one hero point to reroll, 25 with a natural 20.)
Brahmah Tuesday October 8th, 2002 7:11:56 AM
Clutching the symbol of Domi on his breast, the hammer symbol of Domi's strength; emblazoned upon his chain shirt, Brahmah says under his breath but loud enough to hear, "I so swear my on HONOR to Domi and those here present!" When he speaks the name Domi, Brahmah's anger lleaves and calms him.
Zeoll the Lesser d20+10=19 d20+8=27 Tuesday October 8th, 2002 7:41:40 AM
Hearing Leet's eloquence and the passion of the fellow Chosen, Zeoll simply sticks to facts and the evidence for now, speaking in the wemic tongue, in the fashion of liontaur bards in testimony:
"The Chosen came to fight the hounds. And we defeated them at last. Then we were hit by traitors foul. Who struck with blades from ambuscade. But we beat back these traitors too. And spoke fair words with Tashmek, here. Who then did part with us and go."
Zeoll brings forth the body and shows all the strange wounds on it.
"So then we walked back to this place. And on the way found Tashmek slain! Here look -- this wound did lay him down! A wound no Chosen weapon struck! A wound no hell hound bite could make! It was not we who killed Tashmek! Then we brought back his body still. To honor him with funeral rites. If Geaseth speaks the truth then, why? Why do we honor dead Tashmek?"
Then Zeoll repeats his words in Tauric for those present who do not speak liontaur.
[OOC: Perform Check: 19; Diplomacy check: 27]
[OOC: Rather than have Zeoll drag the body in, I would hope some Chosen would have helped him carry the dead liontaur in with honor.]
Kenisha d20+4=20 Tuesday October 8th, 2002 7:49:10 AM
Kenisha is proud as she listens to Leets. Then she steps forward after Brahmah swears by his symbol.
"Honored Elders," she begins, "The Taur Geaseth seeks to finish here in the light of day that which he and his fellow fanatics could not accomplish in the dark. He wants to assassinate the Dream of a United Tauric Peoples. Whether or not this is Domi's Dreams and Desires we can leave to a latter time when calmer and cooler heads will prevail. The facts remain that hellhounds were herded towards us and that the first blow between us and his group came from Geaseth's own hand and dagger.
I will admit that I did seek to kill Geaseth, but only as any mother will seek to protect her child. But my friend Leet's calming wards did reach my ears as much as they did Tashmek."
"We allowed Tashmek to take Geaseth's unconscious body away. On our way back to your village we found poor Tashmek killed, but it does not look to have been done by hellhounds to my eyes."
"Hatred and Fear are our Enemies, fellow Taurs, not each of us. My unborn colt is a union of love between myself, a centaur, and Kalon, a wemic. We did not care that we weren't alike physically, our souls spoke to each other. That our child is growning inside of me is all the proof I need that the Tauric races once were One and can be again. All that I have said I swear by Domi is true."
With that she will step back and wait calmly.
(diplomacy roll=20)
Kale Tuesday October 8th, 2002 8:46:14 AM
not seeing any reason to add anything to his friend's words, Kale glances around the council, counting the number of guards there are and where they are most grouped together, just in case he and his friends have to make a quick escape
Ceira Wednesday October 9th, 2002 12:58:18 AM
(OOC: In regards to who's supposed to be doing the hunting... I'm not sure how to say this without sounding like a fool in-character. Particularly since Ceira is supposed to be a wemic and is supposed to know this! Are there supposed to be more than one hunting party at any given time? Didn't the entire village see us off? If more than one, is there a record of the sequential order in which certain parties leave? If we leave before them and we bear hellhound injuries, then that's good evidence he were the first hunters.)
With much of the major arguments already spoken, Ceira remains silent and gives Geaseth a dirty look.
Flat-top Wednesday October 9th, 2002 9:58:15 AM
Flat-top is surprise that Ceira's silence, He sees that her eyes are very hard on Geaseth. Flat-top will motion to Brahmah to go and stand on the other side of Ceira, Flat-top will go stand on the other side of her and will ash her in a very gentle voice, "Dear Ceira, our little shy Chosen One, there's something you are not telling the Elder, that maybe should be said. Please tell them, you know we will always stand behind you and back you up all the way."
The Judgment (DM Janell) Wednesday October 9th, 2002 11:58:29 AM
The elders listen as various Chosen relate their side of the conflict. Rhirehan remains quiet until all of the Chosen have expressed themselves. "Most honorable elders, as the Chosen have so eloquently stated, we were not the ones to begin the skirmish." Rhirehan spits at Geaseth. "Those cowards tried to cut us down, but they failed." He glares murderously at Geaseth. "Tashmek was open enough to listen to reason, and he dragged your sorry carcass from the battle. And this is how you repay him...by slitting his throat like a coward?!" Rhirehan surges toward Geaseth, and the guards manage to subdue him before he reaches the lean wemic. Geaseth stands his ground calmly, apparently unmoved by the various speeches.
The center elder moves forward once more. "The allegations have been heard, and will be weighed. Geaseth, you will produce your witnesses now. Your wounds will be examined as will the body of Tashmek." The guards usher you to a small adjoining room, as Geaseth is moved to a separate room. Tashmek's body is taken from the Chosen by two guards and carried into yet another room. A few minutes later, all five elders enter the room, and carefully examine all of your wounds and scars from the hunt. A large platter of food is brought into the room, and several hours pass as the elders interview witnesses and examine the evidence. Finally, you are asked to return to the main judgement hall. Once again, the guards make sure that Geaseth and Rhirehan remain separated.
The center elder steps forward and looks down at Geaseth and then the Chosen. "The evidence and witnesses have been examined. It is evident that foul play has occurred tonight, though no neutral witnesses can be found. Therefore, according to custom, there are only two ways to determine the truth. Kayleb or Spikeball. Ordinarily, we would choose Kayleb, but considering the reputation of our guests, and since it is during the Festival, it is this Council's decision that a Spikeball tournament will be held. Domi will make it clear who is guilty and who is innocent. Since these are serious accusations, the tournament will be held in two days time. You will return to your accommodations, and on the morrow you will present a list of team members, a team captain, and any special requests." All five elder step forward and speak as one. "The Council has rendered its judgment, let Domi's will be done." The elders depart, and you are escorted back to Rhirehan's house. Two guards are placed outside the house, and although you are allowed free movement, you are watched constantly by your escorts.
Zeoll the Lesser d20+5=18 Wednesday October 9th, 2002 3:44:03 PM
Saying a prayer for Domi's guidance (a Guidance cantrip), Zeoll draws on his bardic lore to try to remember the stories of and rules for Spikeball (lore roll 18). He'll tell the Chosen all he knows.
Flat-top Wednesday October 9th, 2002 6:05:10 PM
"Yes! Zeoll, I wish to know about Spikeball. The Game sounds very familure. Some time before the War of the Gods, we had to play a game called Spikeball and it was weited heavely on one side." Flat-top turned to Zeoll, "That was before you came to us."
"Alright Kittens, lets go outside and play before we eat. Anybody else wat to play with the children, after all the Kittens did invit us here and if i read their faces right they feel bad about what is going on." Flat-top takes the little weimic for a game of kickball.
Kale Wednesday October 9th, 2002 8:15:52 PM
"More games." Kale mutters to himself. "How many people are on our team?"
Kenisha Wednesday October 9th, 2002 10:22:39 PM
Kenisha watches as Flat-top plays with the kittens. A whistful look on her face. She glances over at Kale at his murmured words and answers, "I don't know, but I am concerned about my participation in this game. I should not have gone out on the hunt. It was too dangerous in my condition. I am having serious doubts about my ability to lead at this stage of my pregnancy."
Brahmah Wednesday October 9th, 2002 10:23:35 PM
The warriors shines when he hears 'Kayleb', but then he begins to pout a bit when it's dismissed for the Kittens game. "How do you play? Spikeball.... sounds boring." He says with disappointment. "What kind of weapons are used?" He asks hopefully.
Brahmah (additional) Thursday October 10th, 2002 5:27:02 AM
Back in our room or accomedations. "Your quite right Kenisha, yur in NO shape for this type of game. I'm concerned that they may not except a substitute in place of you, they may expect the Chosens leader to play. They may say, 'Since she can't play, yur trial is forfeit... or she is afraid! she's not Chosen!' Of course, these aren't options I like." The large warrior has the look of fear in his eye for Kenisha and colt, not a look seen in Brahmah very often. "I have a feeling this ISN'T your run of the mill game! I suspect dishonorable actions will be taken by Geaseths team. I intend to follow the rules laid down by the Council though." He smiles from ear to ear, a fiendish look in his eye. "Let me be team Captain!" Leaning into Kenisha. "I have a... score to settle. Oh, I don't intend to kill Geaseth, just hurt him alot. Don't you agree Flat-top?"
Leets Thursday October 10th, 2002 7:08:54 AM
The Centaurpaladin considers the offer made by the elder once the Chosen are back in their rooms.
"At least it sounds like a civilized way to get rid of this...Or at least I hope so..."
"Zeoll, what do you know about this spikeball game? I think I've heard of it, but I don't know the rules at all..."
Zeoll Remembers (DM Janell) Thursday October 10th, 2002 8:22:13 AM
Searching back into is memory, Zeoll relates what he remembers about spikeball. "It's like soccerr/basketball except that things are much more deadly. Goals are trrapped. Either they arre in a pocket in the wall with a sharrp scythe that comes down when the ball is put in, or the hole in the wall is surrrrounded by poison or spikes. Crreativity in the way the field is setup is always in play and the rreferrees are in charrge of setting up the field."
Zeoll pauses...it's all comming back to him now. "Spells may be allowed. Lethal forrce may be allowed. Weapons may be allowed. Before the game, a meeting is held between the captain of each team to set the terrms of the contest. Norrmal rules allows spells that hinderr and damage spells of 1st level only. No teleporrting type spells are allowed. No weapons are allowed, but weapons will be attached to the walls around the arena. There will be pit trraps on the field that are not visible until stepped upon. Those who fall into a trrap must get out of the trrap by themselves. Usually, outrright combat is against the rules. However, hitting someone as you pass or to slow them down is allowed. Grrappling is allowed. Enlarge and fly and dimish spells are not allowed. Potions and magic items are not allowed."
Zeoll takes a breath as he continues filling in the Chosen. "Score is trraditionally to 5. To score you must put the spikeball into the goal. Spikeballs are like soccerrballs, except that they have 1 inch long sharrp spikes sticking out of them. Sometimes the ball is made of metal and heated so that it scorches one who holds it making it a hot potato type game. In some games, all 5 balls are in play at the starrt of the game, placed upon the center line. In otherr games, 2 balls are in play at a time. In otherrs, 1 at a time is the rrule."
OOC This is not today's post...just wanted to let you guys know.
Ceira Thursday October 10th, 2002 10:16:35 AM
"Zeoll, how many players will be on each team? It is clear that we outnumber Geaseth so I wonder what kind of wemics he will be rounding up? Since his lies cannot be disproved, there may be innocent wemics who be swayed by his influence so let's just focus on the goals. We also have the advantage of diversity amongst our team."
Zeoll the Lesser d20+5=8 Thursday October 10th, 2002 10:30:03 AM
The liontaur adds a few thoughts on strategy.
"It sounds to me like two Grrease spells and two Entangle spells will come in handy."
The bard tries to remember if the field is usually grass-covered.
Then Zeoll the Lesser laughs -- "It might be fun to cast Entangle prre-emptively rright in frront of theirr goal!"
"I could give up an Entangle for a Detect Snarres and Pits, but since the spell takes thrree full rrounds of concentrration to get useful info, I'm not so surre it is worrth it!"
Zeoll tries hard to remember if items and potions can be used BEFORE the match. "If we can use them, those Wisdom, Jump, and Delay Poison spells would be grreat to drrink beforre the game begins! The Wisdom would make my Entangles morre entangling. The Jump would help with pits and leaping overr foes. The Delay Poison would make ourr ball-carrrierr immune to poison forr a time."
[OOC: another guidance spell and bardic lore roll ... only an 8]
"We should have a strrategy," the liontaur continues, "two possible ball carrrierrs, a couple escorrts forr them, maybe a defenderr, and so on."
"Kenisha, I don't think you should get into the thick of it, but if you simply stood in a corrnerr and cast spells, maybe that would make the differrence?"
The wemic tries to remember if non-magic items can be brought into the game. "A couple tanglefoot bags would come in handy, especially with Trrue Strrike to guide the hurrler -- if anyone can cast the Trrue Strrike spell?"
Zeoll also wonders if the ball could be moved with a Mage Hand spell. How about two Mage Hands from two mages working together?
[OOC: Janell, sorry to be such a pest with all this "wondering"!]
Brahmah, Spikeball captain? Thursday October 10th, 2002 11:07:16 PM
Brahmah asks a few questions. "Zeoll, you said traps, spells and weapons? The traps could dispel certain effects right? Some traps can do that right?" The minotaur removes his gauntlets and wraps them up in his bedroll with his Falchions. "Kenisha, I'm not comfortable leaving my weapons alone, can you watch them?. No weapons, no magic items. Aw, that means no armor." He begins to take off his chain shirt.
Preparations (DM Janell) Friday October 11th, 2002 12:47:14 AM
Zeoll thinks hard and remembers back to the few Spikeball games he has witnessed. Potions before the tournament are definitely out. No outside equipment is allowed to be brought onto the field, although many different weapons and tools are sometimes mounted on the walls (contestants may even request a few non magical items). As far as he can remember, the fields are usually made up of sand, but there is a great amount of variation from game to game.
The Chosen continue to discuss tactics long through the morning, and by midday, you are completely exhausted from the long night. Shortly before you decide to turn in for some well deserved rest, a messenger arrives from the Council, asking for your list of team members, and a team captain. The young wemic looks truly honored to be in the presence, and is more than willing to chat. He lets it slip that Geaseth's team has settled on 6 members with Geaseth as the team captain. He also notifies the chosen that after the evening meal, the team captain is to meet with Geaseth to discuss the special requests, and the rules of the contest.
Ok folks, we gotta roll if we're gonna finish this up on time. Tomorrow you will meet with Geaseth and iron out any other problems/concerns/questions. Monday it's Spikeball time.----Janell
Ceira Friday October 11th, 2002 1:55:33 AM
"Alright guys, I can offer an extra ball carrier with my Unseen Servant so that will allow for an extra defender/escort. It's lack of weight will probably not set off any traps so we must still stay on our toes. My other spells that might be useful are Resistance, Silent Image, and the ever effective Magic Missle. I can conjure up some good tricks with some silent images too." Ceira snickers.
Brahmah Friday October 11th, 2002 2:27:41 AM
OOC: What is Kenisha's command for Brahmah and the other Chosen? I'll post after she does.
Zeoll the Lesser d20+8=20 Friday October 11th, 2002 7:08:18 AM
Zeoll engages the young messenger in conversation (in wemic) and tries to pry out of him what the filed will be made of (sand, grass, or what?). Or at least what it was in the past here. [OOC: Diplomacy check is 20]
Turning to Kenisha, Zeoll asks her to decide on a Team Captain to meet with Geaseth.
Kenisha Friday October 11th, 2002 7:30:48 AM
Kenisha nods to Brahmah. "You can be the Team Leader. I suppose it's a kindness that Geaseth chose six players."
Turning to Zeoll she says, "Mage hand can usually lift only 5 pounds. Two casters with it would have to work together, but that's a moot point unless someone else besides Ceira and I are mages. I don't know that spell. And with six players on the opposing team, I'm asking to be excused from play for.... obvious reasons." She smiles ruefully at that.
Kale Friday October 11th, 2002 9:07:37 AM
"I guess that means the rest of us are playing." Kale says to the others. "What are our individual rolls, Captain?"
Flat-top Friday October 11th, 2002 9:53:13 AM
"Well, done, Kenisha." Flat-top pipes in, "I was hoping for One of our two Minotaurs to be Captain. They seem to have a six sense between Sports and battles. If there's going to be any hanky panky (cheating) beginning to happen, Ceira and Zeoll will sense that too. And I know that there'll be pits for us Centaurs, I also have this feeling that this game is weighted on their side, Just like the last time we went into the arena. We won by default, the judges were honest."
Zeoll (with a forbidden second post in one day!) Friday October 11th, 2002 10:36:32 AM
"Oh, um, well, *I* can cast Mage Hand! Can you, Ceirra?"
"Brrahmah, please rrequest chains or rropes -- so that we can haul a taurr out of a pit if he falls in one."
[OOC: Janell, can spell casters bring in their components? Since they are allowing spell casting, probably they can, right?]
Brahmah Friday October 11th, 2002 5:34:06 PM
Somewhat excited that he now holds the title of 'captain', albeit, the short lived title, he begins thinking of things to request for the sport.
"Well, I need a list of the team and their duties....let me think. Kale, Flat-top, Ceira, Zeoll, Leets and myself. Wait... that leaves us one Taur short, because Kenisha is out. Aw, yes, I'll request that Rhirehan play in her place. It's for his Honor too, I guess. Besides, he's got no love for Geaseth. Now, ropes (50+feet on single lengths), a Falchion or two on the walls (He smiles saying this), some light weight armors for Leets and myself, long wooden(or iron) poles (15+ feet long)..... anything else? Maybe Kenisha would like to sit in with the referees or judges? Tactics.... casters should ready to Web the opponents spikeballs before they score, or cast something else to hinder their scoring. I'll request that points be taken to 5 like Zeoll mentioned."
OOC:If anyone else has ideas, let me know.
Zeoll the Lesser talks tactics Saturday October 12th, 2002 7:52:20 PM
"As I said beforre, if it is grrassy, I will use entangle in frront of theirr goal. I also intend to cast Grrease on any ball closerr to them than to us. If therre is no grrass, I will use a Detection spell to find snarres and pits -- If I say "invisible ball," I mean pit! If I say ""good guy," I mean trrap! By using code words we can confuse the enemy. Rrememberr! "Invisible ball" is pit! "Good guy" is trrap!"
"Note that my Grrease rrange is only 30 feet! My Entangle rrange is 440 feet!"
"If I see a Chosen nearr a grreased ball, wait forr me to say "Bomb! Duck!" -- that means I have reemoved the Grrease and you can pick the ball up!"
"If I am singing, I'll weave these code worrds into my song! So pay attention!"
"Brrahmah, who do you want on defense, and who on offense?"
[OOC: Folks, some advice: be prepared to use Readied attacks! Like these, for example:
-- I get ready to pick up the ungreased ball when I hear Zeoll say "Bomb! Duck!"
-- I ready a charge and disarm attack on the enemy ball carrier when he is within reach -- so I can knock the ball out of his hands!]
Brahmah (sorry, yet another post) Saturday October 12th, 2002 10:48:52 PM
"On defense, Ceira, Zeoll and Flat-top. On Offense, myself, Leets, Kale and Rhirehan. If they have more defense than us, I may change to defense in game. As for the codes, those might get confusing. We'll try to remember.
I'd like one ball, but two would be fine, not more than two. Kale, could you be a runner? I know your quick-hoofed.
For scoring, I'd suggest a formation using our defense, a 'X or V' formation with the scorer/runner in the middle of defenders. Don't be afraid to be aggressive, if you have to, sacrifice so your team can score! I know I'll be getting hurt, no doubt." He smiles.
"Kenisha, what do you suggest? We haven't heard much from you. Are you going to prepare spells we can use?"
Brahmah thinks hard for a moment if there is anything else before the meeting with Geaseth.
"Oh! Can you cast disturbing spells Zeoll? That bright one that flares in your face and stops you? And those dancing lights?" He gets a wicked grin of his face. "They said 'no potions', but do GOODBERRIES count? Could you make us a pocket full of those, just in case? Give each of us one or two."
He starts scribbling on a piece of paper, a list of things to remember for the meeting.
OOC: If anyone, like Kenisha and Leets (who hasn't said much), has plans I have no idea about, let me know. I'll take all suggestions into consideration. :)
Leets Sunday October 13th, 2002 8:16:32 AM
"I'm no expert in Spikeball Brahmah, I'll trust you about what we must do in this...I don't think I'll need armor during the game, particularly in offense, I'll need to run really fast. It's too bad potions aren't allowed before, I still had an Expeditious Retreat in my bag... As for the spells, calling Domi's holy name on our team is probably the best thing I can do..."
Flat-top Sunday October 13th, 2002 11:47:03 AM
"I think your right, the plans are forming fine, I light those ideas. Now I hope the other team fight err err I mean plays fair." Flat-top has this 'I'm Ashamed" grim on his face.
Rules and Limitations (DM Janell) Sunday October 13th, 2002 10:14:08 PM
Rhirehan smiles in appreciation as Brahmah decides to add him to the team. "Thank you, I'll try not to let you down" he says with a wink. The messenger disengages his conversation with Zeoll before answering his question and quickly jots down the team list, as well as noting that Brahmah is the captain. He then departs, mentioning something about many preparations left to be made. Rhirehan smiles at Zeoll. "It has been a long time since we have had a Spikeball tournament, but I seem to remember that the field is made of grass."
After most of the important tactics have been discussed, there is plenty of time for a short rest for those who are interested before the evening meal. Rhasa makes a sumptuous meal with an odd, but tasty assortment of some form of green vegetables and meat mixed together. Conversation is light around the dinner table as most are excited about the upcoming tournament. As usually, Sheras babbles on and on excitedly about how exciting it is going to be, while Ybi sits back and listens with interest at the discussion of various tactics. Soon after the meal is finished, the guards who have been watching you asks Brahmah to accompany them back to the Elder's Council.
Back at the building, Geaseth shoots an ugly look at Brahmah as he enters. An elder steps forward. "Team captains, we will now set the conditions of the tournament. You elders have decided that play will be to a score of 3. Due to the seriousness of the accusations in this case, your elders have also decided on the losers of the tournament will be taken out, whipped, chained and hobbled in the square for 24 hours. The graying wemic looks Brahmah in the eyes as he continues. "Since several of your party are not wemics, and therefore not subject to our laws, they may choose instead to be banished from the island for life...if you should loose." The elder pauses before continuing. "As tradition dictates, you are allowed four specific requests. In addition, you must determine how many balls will be in play. Since Geaseth is the accuser, he shall present his requests first."
Geaseth bows before the elder, and pauses before making his requests. "Most honorable elder, we wish for there to be three balls in play. As for our requests, they are simple...we ask for the following weapons on the field, a battle axe, great and longswords, and spiked chains." The elder nods his head as the young messenger from earlier in the evening jots down the requests. The elder turns his attention to Brahmah. "And what of your team, what are your four requests?"
Brahmah, The Chosen's Team Captain Monday October 14th, 2002 12:37:20 AM
The warrior ignores Geaseth's stoney stare. Brahmah listens with a smile then replies with the Chosen's requests. "Exalted Elder, our requests are also simple. We would like 50 foot lengths of rope, several solid wooden poles more than 15 feet long, a sack of tangle foot bags (which are not magical) and nets. As for the number of balls, I didn't want more than two spikeballs, but I'll happily agree to three." He turns to Geaseth and smiles. "We have a long day tomorrow, I'd best get off to bed."
Going back to meet with the Chosen, Brahmah states a few concerns. He makes sure he wasn't followed, doubling back once. "Okay, I requested nets, poles, tanglefoot bags and rope. They 'Accusers' requested their weaponry, a battle axe, long and great swords and spiked chains. Kale, I have a feeling that they will go there tonight to sabotage the field. I don't believe it's guarded. I would like you to go and stake out the arena without being seen so that we do know what has been done to it before we step one hoof on that field. Understand! If you don't want to, I understand. Kenisha, what do you want to do?"
OOC:Zeoll, I believe spell components are NON-MAGICAL until used for casting, they might be allowed without asking for them.
Brahmah (additional) Monday October 14th, 2002 12:42:52 AM
"Oh, the axe means the tatooed freak will be on the team, undoubtedly." He smiles as he tells his friends, laying back ready to rest.
Flat-top Monday October 14th, 2002 4:48:01 AM
After the wonderful meal, Flat-top smiles at the Captain "Your right,Brahmah, We should all rest tomorrow is a very big day." Echo Flat-top. But as he leaves for his room (that he shares with Leets) Flat-top stop in front of young Ybi, takes his Morning Star from around his neck, coils it and hand it to young Ybi "I would like for you to take very good care of this weapon, it was given to me by Domi himself. Keep it safe until my return (occ here Flat-top lowers his voice so only Ybi can hear) If I don't come back, Domi will tell you what to do with this special weapon. He always comes and tells you what he want you to do in dreams."
Flat-top is off to bed, BUT before he drops off to sleep, he look out side the window and prays "Domi, Please let me come back and retrieve my Morning Star."
Zeoll the Lesser 2d4(4+2)=6 2d4(1+1)=2 (goodberries) Monday October 14th, 2002 7:31:59 AM
In case they are allowed, Zeoll the Lesser casts two Goodberry spells before retiring for the night. He makes 8 magic berries.
He makes a mental note to ask if he can bring them onto the playing field before the bout begins.
The next morning he prepares the following druid spells: Entangle (x2), Cure Minor Wounds (x2), Guidance.
He reminds everybody that as a bard he plans to cast two Grease spells, and maybe Flare and Mage Hand.
He has some questions for his felow spell casters: "Ceirra, can you cast Mage Hand? Do you want to be rready to use it with me if we have the opporrtunity? You can only move a ball 15 feet at a go with the spell, so we cannot use it to do much -- but we could use it to put a ball in the goal. Or maybe to lift one out of a pit."
"Kenisha, do you know Mage Arrmorr orr any otherr spells you can cast on us beforre we get to the playing field?"
"And it may be that the numberr of weapons is limited! If so, rrememberr, everrybody, that even if you do not use a weapon, if you grrab one, that's a weapon ourr foes do not have."
"And if they do give us the tanglefoot bags, grrab those rright away! We don't want ourr enemies to use them on us!"
"And rrememberr what Brrahmah said: Defense: Ceirra, me and Flat-top. Offense: Brrahmah, Leets, Kale, and Rrhirrehan."
Kale d20+8=17 d20=10 Monday October 14th, 2002 9:23:37 AM
"Well, I can go look for a little while, but i dont want to play this game on no sleep." Kale says as he tries to leave(move silently check of 17) then he watches the fields until he gets tired and heads back(hide check of 10)
Leets Monday October 14th, 2002 10:39:09 AM
Leets prepares for the game as well as he can, not really knowing what it will look like on the field...He prays, trying to draw Domi's attention on the event that is about to occur, which is very important for the future of the Taur race. Wearing off his heavy armor, he also notice that his wounds are more serious than he thought.
"Zeoll, maybe you could help in some way. Although it's not that painful, it would be better if I had recovered my full health before the game..."
(Current HP 35/58, 40 in the morning, saving the lay on hands for the game and preparing "Bless")
Before you were summoned to the elders, you made a visit to the cleric's tent and were fully healed. You are up to your max hp.---Janell
Ceira Monday October 14th, 2002 11:09:27 AM
(OOC: How heavy is the ball?)
"No Zeoll, I do not have the ability to cast Mage Hand. But remember that I have a much stronger version through the use of Unseen Servant. I will be able to command it to carry 20 lb. or drag 100 lb. for 4 hours. Plus, I don't have to maintain concentration on him and focus on my defense.
(OOC: Can I cast three Unseen Servants? If I can, here are my tactics:
I would like to have three around me in a triangle. They stand 35 feet from me [I'm in the center] so each Unseen Servant stands 60 feet from each other [equilateral triangle]
If someone comes rushing after a ball, I will command the Unseen Servant to throw it to a different Unseen Servant farthest from the attacker. This will give me a chance to fight off the defender. If I fail, I will repeat my command to throw it to an Unseen Servant farthest from the attacker.
Rinse. Repeat. SCORE!!!)
The spikeball weighs 10 lb. If you wish, you may summon three unseen servants :)---Janell
Kenisha Monday October 14th, 2002 9:44:10 PM
Kenisha puts on a brave face, but throughout the meal and all the planning, she frets about the outcome of the game.
"Beware of Geaseth. I fear he will try something. If not before the game, then during. He is not one to be trusted to follow the rules. He feels that his cause is worth any offense. Ours is the harder way. We must prevail through fairness and truth."
"I think that it will be a very good idea if I sit with the judges. That way I can be close at hand if treachery happens."
ooc-Kenisha will ask if it is allowable and if she can cast Detect Magic on the teams and the field before the game begins.
