Trace slams the dragon with a vicious attack however the frost damage doesnt seem to affect the Tumult.
A wing of the dragon causes Savin to flip wildly in his flight to the fight. His attack misses.
Sly lets loose another Ice Storm. The hailstones slam into the dragon, but again, the frost damage is absorbed by magic. There is a loud growl from behind the dragon. Its Luke!!! He wasn't in the falling rock and he comes racing toward the dragon with a mouth full of slobbery sharp teeth. (Bite attack. Hit AC 23 ... CRITICAL THREAT!! Hit AC 8, no crit. 5 points of damage) Luke actually connects with the tail and latches on!! He shakes his head back and forth grinding his teeth deeper into the dragon's tail.
Ilsidur casts Dispel Magic on the dragon. The dragon's body begins to shimmer from the divine assault. Then the shimmer dies ... Tumult looks shocked, "NOOOOO," he shouts!! It is apparent that whatever spell(s) he had cast upon himself are no longer functioning.
Sir Thomas comes swinging in a blinding rage. All attempts fell short of connecting with the dragon.
Shiraz, with the blessed dragonbane weapon slices into the dragon once again. Each cut slicing deeper than the one before. After these strikes Tumult shutters in pain. He roars in an agonizing rage.
Tumult, who is visible shaken and sobered of his rage from the last attack answers with a series of attacks of his own. His eyes focus on Shiraz. He knows that he would surely fall if he took anymore attacks like that from the minotaur. Tumult lashes back at Shiraz with both tooth and claw. (Bite. Hit AC 31 for 23 points of damage. Two Claws. Hit AC 21 miss, Hit AC 31 for 13 points of damage. Tail Slap. Hit AC 39 crit threat, Hit AC 28 no crit. 21 points of damage. Total: 57 points of damage)
The attacks rip into the minotaur almost leveling him. Luke continues to hold on to the tail as he is swung around.
Tumult still has one last trick. He starts to cast a quickened spell like ability. His eyes begin to glow and you all hear him say the word (in draconic) "LOOK AT MEEE AND SLEEEEPP!!!" He focuses his glowing eyes directly down at Shiraz (Will save DC 13 or fall asleep for a long time!!)

Thomas sees the fury with which the dragon lashes out at his friend and he feels rage and pain like nothing he thought possible as it adds to that he feels from the loss of Jurgen. He hovers over the dragons back (as previously stated; away from his eyes) and tries to cripple the wyrm. Raising the mace of icy burst above his head Thomas comments, "Domi's justice is upon you! You should have been more reasonable!" Then bringing the weapon down upon the dragon's back, between his shoulder blades (where Thomas is hovering; no called shot), Thomas invokes the power of Domi. [Smite Evil power; Rolled 15 + 12 melee = 27 to hit; Rolled 5 + 6 + 3 + 1 magic weapon + 4 STR + 4 CHR Mod (smite evil addition) + 7 (Smite evil modifier = Thomas level) = 30 hp dmg]
As the mace connects with the dragon's scales, Thomas feels a surge of energy equal to his rage flow from his body into and through the mace.
Being an astute warrior, Thomas does not let the opportunity to strike again fade from his grasp. He raises the weapon again while the dragon shirks from the pain of his first attack, and then brings the weapon down again in the same place. [Rolled 16 + 7 = 23 to hit; Rolled 4 + 4 + 6 + 1 magic weapon + 4 STR = 19 dmg]
A battle cry like that heard from a ruthless barbarian elicites forth from Thomas' soul and escapes through his mouth. The dragon would pay for his confidence and his actions of evil.
[Total dmg if both attacks make = 49 hp dmg. Luck smiles on Thomas tonight. Luck be a lady you know!]

Trace taunts Tumlet, "Ha another strike, hurry and die, I am having to tear you up too much. I want to use as much of you as I can to make weapons, shields, and armor so that I can buy a great castle! Die wyrm, hurry and die!"

Savin connects with an unarmed strike. He can feel a bone crack but it doesnt the amount of damage that he would have hoped.
Sly lets loose another Ice Storm across the side of Tumult's head. Ice cakes across his face and neck as hail stones pound into him. Tumult grunts in agony. Luke hangs on and does automatic damage. (Sly can only use the rod once a round)
Ilsidur sees Shiraz fight off the gaze attack and he finds himself fight it off as well. You all realize it is a continuous Sleep gaze attack. If any of you look at the dragons eyes will need to make a will save DC 13 or fall asleep. Ilsidur turns to cast a healing spell on Shiraz and draws an attack of opportunity from Tumult. (Bite. Hit AC 25, natural 1, miss. lucky. no damage) Tumult bites into the floor and comes up with a mouth full of rocks. Ilsidur successfully heals Shiraz.
Shiraz strikes twice with his bane sword. Tumult shrills in pain!!
Sir Thomas summons the holy power of his God, Domi, and transforms it into a devestating clap of divine energy as it strikes the dragon. The cold damage from the weapon was the "frosting" on the cake!! His second strike misses however. The dragon begins to sway back and forth! "Momma ... HELP ME, MOMMA ... IT HURTS!!!," shouts Tumult!!
Trace also manages to slice into Tumult. The dragon doesnt seem to know what to do. His mind is completely frazzled. --------------------- (Tumult's turn) Tumult looks around wildly. He stares into space as if he is looking for someone or something. "Momma .... Momma, what do I dooo!! Yes Momma .. yes!! With a frantic expression still frozen on his partially frosted face, Tumult inhales and breathes directly down onto the floor. Hot searing flame rolls out and up engulfing the dragon and everyone closed with him. (Sly is only one not needed to be closed with the dragon to attack.)
(Fire breath. 52 points of fire damage. Reflex DC 24 for half. If you fail save and take 50+ points of damage, then you must make a Fort. Save DC 15 or die instantly from massive damage.)

[Thomas is unconscious, but rather than automatically dying, I rolled a fortitude save 13 + 11 Fortitude = 24 SUCCESS I'm hanging on but dying fast!]
Thomas has -3 hp. He falls from the air where he was hovering above Tumult's back and lands first on the dragon's back itself, and then slides off and onto the ground beside the gargantuan beast.
[OOC: I have a question. Thomas was hovering directly above the dragon. Tumult spewed his fire down, at the ground. That means Thomas would have been protected from most of the effects of the blast because he would be shielded by the dragon. Do I get any large bonuses to my reflex save for being so hidden from the blast? Think of it like drafting in a car race or a cycling race or any race where two competitors can travel very closely to one another and the second competitor has to produce much less energy (force, wattage, etc) to travel at the same speed as the first competitor. Do you see what I'm asking or trying to point out? If you grant me some extra bonuses ... which, I know I'm biased, but I think I deserve, I'll use a hero point to reroll that dismal 2 and try to save my life. If I successfully save, then I'll attack Tumult again with the mace ... twice.]
[Rerolled Reflex save 9 + 5 + any bonuses for being shielded that I am granted for being hidden from the blast = ????]
[Provisionary attack rolls. I didn't get a stellar save, but you never know. I missed both attacks anyway. Rolled 5 + 12 = 17 and 16 + 7 = 23]
Good luck Southern Lights!

Quenching the Fire (DM Stephen) d100=98 d6=5 very very good Tuesday January 28th, 2003 2:31:21 AM
The howl and screams of pain and rage echo throughout the cavern. The crackling hiss of fire and ice. The bellows of pain ... the hacking sloshy sound of steel into hide ... the gush and spray of blood .... the sizzle and sickening smell of searing hair and flesh ... the battle blazes on to its epic conclusion.
The brave Shiraz meets his forefathers and is greeted into the afterlife as a hero among heroes. He died well ... this was a good honorable death. As he passes over to the other side, he didnt forget his friends. For even in death, his arm reaches out with his weapon offering it to whomever will take it.
You all feel his vision leave your minds and your awareness seems to be failing. (-2 AC).
Sir Thomas falls to the flame. (Sorry, I understand what you mean but couldn't think of a situation that would justify a +10 to your roll. Tumult lowered his head to the floor to breath his fire so that it would disperse around him at a greater speed. Let's just let it ride for now :) Thankfully, as Sir Thomas fell the body of the dragon took the brunt of his fall to the floor and he takes no extra damage. Everyone lose more awareness (-2 AC) but you all continue to see through the eyes of Sir Thomas. Sir Thomas sees a light in the distance and feels wrapped up in warmth and love of his god and family.
Savin bludgeons the dragon with another solid strike. This time you hear a bone crack and break into. Tumult grunts with a sharp pain as his leg goes limp.
Sly pounds the dragon again with the rod of Ice Storms. The dragon screams in pain. Luke hangs on and contines to reduce the beasts tail into a chew toy.
Trace grits his teeth and slices into the dragon. Cold damage seems to make the dragon's flesh brittle and it begins to crack and break off. Dragon blood pours and sprays from frost burns and gaping wounds. Those surrounding the dragon fail not to be covered in it.
(Trace's Resist Elements (Fire) spell kicks in. Ilsidur failed his save against the fire. You can only reroll a bad roll with a hero point once. Or you can use a hero point to raise a roll by +2, which you can use as many hero points that you have. You're down to 10 hp and your fire protection is spent.)
Tumult stumbles to the floor. His eyes roll in their sockets. In one last act of defiance, he roars and shows his teeth at the dwarf. Ilsidur grabs Shiraz's sword, swirls it around and stabs it soundly into Tumult (Critical hit). Tumult screams in pain. A shrill so sharp and loud that it hurts your ears.
Tumult, grunting and choking on his own blood, tries to crawl toward the pool of water. His claws slip and slide through the crimson wash all over the floors. He tries to roar again but it becomes garbled with fluid. His wings flop around as it he is trying to take to the air. However there isn't enough strength left. He only accomplishes the slinging of more blood around the area. He reaches the water's edge and collapses. Tumult is motionless and the fiery glow from his eyes and mouth fade to nothing.

Awakenings, part 2 (DM Stephen) d100=94 d6=3 another great roll Wednesday January 29th, 2003 12:43:44 AM
Ilsidur casts Locate Object and he uses the memory of the kiss to focus on the artifacts. (YES ... you remembered!! yeah!! :) Almost instantly, your forced to turn around and face the area with the statues. The spell focuses your sight and you see a red and white marble statue. Mounted on the statue is a metalic tongue, nose, eye, ear and hand. You then remember the marble hand, nose and ear from the wash bucket. You realize that Tumult must have replaced the statues parts with the artifacts. The unseen servants must have picked up the marble statue parts thinking they were garbage. (that was my little hint of their location from before)
A translucent image of the maidens appear in the cavern floating above the floor. They all speak in unison. "Yes... those are our artifacts ... hurry retrieve them, we sense a great and evil power approaching."
Suddenly a dark deep echoed growl fills the cavern. A sound that, even in this heat, sends a cold chill down your backs. The sound of an ancient and powerful evil. The sound did NOT come from the body of Tumult!!

Sir Thomas (AC 25(17 usually), HP 5/59, Darkvision, Fly) Wednesday January 29th, 2003 1:50:29 AM
After Tumult's flames engulfed him and his screams were raised to the heavens, Thomas feels no pain. He stands in an endless hall divided by nothing. On one end is a white, comforting light. On the other is the pain and torment of life ... wonderful glorious life. Thomas tries to fight his way back to his body and the pain with which it is wracked. With Sly's help, Thomas is successful!
His eyes flutter open and he weakly thanks his friend with a smile. He moves to stand, and does so with a great deal of pain and effort. Seeing Tumult dead, Thomas sees no need for his will power to supercede his strength and he sinks back down to the floor. Just before he mentions to look on the statues for the artifacts, Ilsidur finishes his spell and locates them. [OOC: I got your reference before Stephen ... I just couldn't do anything about it. It was a nice touch.]
Thomas states weakly, "let's get out of here. Trace, can Radiant get those artifacts back to ..." and then he exclaims, "the maidens?" as they appear to offer their warning.
His heart sinking in his chest, Thomas listens to the growling of something more fowl and evil than Tumult. "Nothing can just be good in the Wold, can it?!?" Thomas forces his willpower to take back over as a sense of fear creeps into his being. "We must hurry to complete this task." Thomas stands almost as if he had the strength of the mighty Shiraz.
He hurries over to the charred remains of his friend and picks up what he finds. "We'll burry you properly friend." Thomas makes for the door and if he has the hands and the ability, grabs Jurgen's charred remains also. "All fallen heroes will be raised to the heavens and properly buried."

Savin looks at all the treasure while moving around and sighs, "This could really help feed some starving children." If Savin sees any promising items he will grab them if they are convient to get.

Otherwise, he flies down and quicky gathers whatever items were Shiraz's, and places them on the minotaur's body. Then he helps Sir Thomas carry minotaur out of the cavern, hopefully to safety. He calls out to Savin, "I suggest you leave the treasure. It seems to be disappearing, and probably should be left alone!"
On the way out, he calls to Sly and Trace, "Can you pick up Jurgen's body? We have his backpack already."
Sly and Luke (by DM Stephen) Wednesday January 29th, 2003 1:21:28 PM
Sly continues to shovel hand fulls of gems and gold into his pack and pockets. Loyal Luke looks on in bewilderment as normal. Sly comes across a tiny ivory chest that is small enough to fit in his pocket. Sly quickly stuffs it away without paying too much attention to it.
Luke's attention is drawn away from Sly as the pool of Tumult's blood continues to flow and spread outward into one big oval. He starts to bark at it.
"Trace can you get Jurgen's body, my hands will be full with Luke."

Trace drinks down a potion of cure moderate wounds potion and then calls for Radiant who should still be withing listening Range. (gains 16hps.)
Trace looks around for anything valueable that he can quickly stick in his belt then waits for Radiant to arrive. Once Radiant comes into the room he will heal any heat damage his friend has taken and then put in his claws the bucket of metal human parts, "Radiant, take this back to the sisters at the inn."
"I hate the fact that we are being rushed away from our bounty. Heck why dont we attempt a stand for a bit and if it gets too hard then we can flee."
Endgame (DM Stephen) d100=53 d6=3 Thursday January 30th, 2003 3:39:39 AM
(The bucket contained marble pieces from the statue. The actual statue has the artifacts attached to it.)
Suddenly the water from the pool begins to quickly drain away. As the water sinks below the water line of the chamber wall, you all realize that the lake was an underwater entrance into the lair. You hear the roar of the water draining deep down into the volcano and the mountain begins to slightly shake and rattle.
Radiant has no chance of hear Trace in all the chaos. (you dont have a magical bond do you?) Trace notices that the body parts in the bucket are just marble chunks from the statue. At the statue, Savin has little trouble breaking the artifacts off the marble. He has more time to collect a few other things in the area.
Sly continues to stuff everything he can grab. Luke barks at the pool of blood that now has expanded to a oval with a 60-ft diameter.
Those still in the air notice an image appear in the blood. Looking into the blood is like gazing through a crimson stained-glass window. Flames and steamy mist can be seen through the portal. Suddenly the head of a colossal beast appears and it stares back at you. The translucent head of the beast passes through the portal and into the chamber. The ancient beast remains incorporeal as it passes through, not yet solid within this location. It stares at the body of Tumult and roars a deafening cry. A sound that shakes the mountain even more. Tumult was a HUGE dragon. However, the head of this beast is almost as big as Tumult's body. Luke stops barking with a yelp!! He retreats to Sly wimpering.
With the entrance of daylight through the drained pool of water, the maidens appear in the new opening and shout a word of power focused on the great beast .... "DICTUM!!!" The word seems to burst all around you like a sonic attack. It knocks everyone to the ground (except the maidens) and forcefully pushes the beast back through the blood portal. The beasts rages with a hellish fury and rams the closed portal with its claws and head. The mountain begins to shake more violently.
The maidens continue to shout, "Everyone, gather your dead ... QUICKLY ... our magic wont hold the beast for long." One maiden opens a bag and a whirl wind comes shooting forth. Wherever the whirl wind hits it gathers what treasure is left and scoops back into the bag. Hundreds of thousands of gold coin fly into the bag.
Rocks are now begining to fall from the ceiling. The mountain shakes even more violently as the beast pounds on the blood portal. The floor is becoming very warm to almost hot. Whaa ... is the mountain beginning to erupt!!!! Steam comes pouring in from both entrances now. The maidens snap their fingers and cast Mass Teleport.
In a streak of blinding light you all find yourselves in a meadow facing the quaking mountain lair of Tumult, in the distance.
Radiant is perched on a tree and he flies to Trace. Vus lays down next the body of Jurgen. You all watch several explosions billow out of several places on and around the mountain.
(You're all at a safe distance. Party's initiative)
Savin Thursday January 30th, 2003 9:17:29 AM
Savin looks at the erupting volcano with wonder in his eyes. As smoke and ash shoot up into the sky he wonders to himself what in the name of all that is holy was that big monster.
He shakes himself out of his wonderings and heads over to the maidens. "Ladies, I believe these belong to you. Use them well and keep our world safe with them." He hands out the artifacts to them. "I want to thank you for your magical help in fighting Tumult and aiding in our escape."
Sly Foxx and Luke Thursday January 30th, 2003 12:46:13 PM
After the mass Telepot out of that cave. Sly find himself down on one knee, next to the body of Jurgen and look around to see the body of Shiraz. "All right every body made it out in time?" Them holding Luke in his arms, Sly ask "Trace Please Tell Me That Was Not The MOTHER."

Ilsidur [AC20, HP 10/69, fly] Thursday January 30th, 2003 6:51:29 PM
Ilsidur watches Savin present the metallic body parts to the five crones. He wonders to himself, "I sure hope the reward was worth the cost," looking at the two dead comrades. Then he moves over to Shiraz and Jurgen, and arranges their bodies into restful positions.
He looks around at the rest of the group, and says, "As a cleric, I know that it is possible for some characters to return from the dead, but I am not powerful enough to carry this out. But I STRONGLY suggest we try this for Jurgen and Shiraz." Then he watches the crones, to see what happens next.
Sir Thomas (AC 25(17 usually), HP 5/59, Darkvision, Fly) Friday January 31st, 2003 12:22:59 AM
Thomas killed the cure moderate wounds potion that Savin gave him quickly while all of the confusion took place. [OOC: I don't know the rolls for that.]
He prapares to fly Shiraz's and Jurgen's remains (if someone else doesn't grab the young mage's body) out of the cave when the maidens arrive and save the group.
Upon finding himself in a flowery field, covered in blood, soot, tears, pain, and only a few know what other manner of dirt and grime, Thomas places a hand on Shiraz' huge chest and kneels before the body. He watches the mountain quake and shake and cry in the rage of it's eruption. He then looks to Jurgen and knows of the multiple acts of heroism that the man endured before his death. Thomas considers the same for Shiraz. "You will not sit in the halls of heroes for long. We still require your services my friends. You are both heroes of MINE. ...... Domi, give them back." Thomas commands the god as if requesting a possession to be returned froma dear friend.
He does his part to help arrange the two bodies into restful positions and the approaches the madiens, "we are eternally grateful for your help and for the help of our endowment. I think Savin said it well, use those items wisely dear maidens. We are going to go find someone who can return our friends to us."
Thomas then gives a VERY respectful bow to the maidens and goes about 30 yards off into the field to pray to Domi. Once alone, the paladin begins to cry for his friends and the experience that he and the other Southern Lights just lived through. It will mark his manhood for the rest of his living days.
Once finished with his prayer of thanks and honor toward Domi, Thomas returns to the group and gives each individual a hug while taking the opportunity to speak soft words of endearment into each of their ears.
"I love you" are the words spoken by the young human. "Thank you for your friendship and support my brother."
Trace and Radiant Friday January 31st, 2003 12:40:37 AM
Trace moves Radiant over to his sholder and stabs his sword into the ground as he slumps against a tree while he watches the fireworks in the distance from there victory.
We need to make our way back and find a preist and see if they can bring our friends back. I would truly want you to do that for me. We might also have to be prepaired for who ever that was trying to come through the spilt blood of Tumlet. We have this hard of a time with him I think we need to be more ready for any other situations that arise. My sword here was servicable but not good enough to keep us from loosing friends and allmost my life as well.
Awakenings, part 3 (DM Stephen) d100=99 d6=1 Friday January 31st, 2003 1:30:38 AM
The volcano continues to violently shake. Then with one massive explosion, the top of the volcano explodes. A mushroom cloud of fire, smoke, and ash billows up into the air. The sound of the explosion washes over you like a wave. You feel the heat from the blast, even from this distance (no damage).
Like a infernal devil from the deepest pits of the planes of torment, a massive beast comes flying out of the fiery plume. A collossal red dragon of epic porportions hangs suspended above the volcano. It flaps its wings and roars into the sky. Its shrill echoes across the Grey Tooth Mountain range. Suddenly it takes the sky and begins to fly away. Its hard to tell, but you can see the limp body of Tumult clutched in its claws. As it flies away it vanishes from sight and then there is no more. It makes you wonder where this beast came from. Were you all merely pons on a massive chess board that it played from some other dimension or plane of existence? Why in the Wold did it want to come here?
Whatever happened you can rest assured you are true heroes. You fought the good fight against unlikely odds and saved the land and everyone within it from a fate worse than death itself.
The maidens hear the words of Ilsidur and Sir Thomas. One maiden says, "You wouldnt think we would allow your two friends here miss this wonderful occasion. They are true heroes and deserve to bask in their glory. Its time we wake them up, if the gods will allow."
Two maidens pull out scrolls and begin to chant. One maiden takes out a flask of fragrant oil and starts applying it the bodies. The other two fish through the magical bag and locate a small pouch of diamond powder. They sprinkle the bodies with the powder. Shiraz and Jurgen glisten in the sunlight. Then all five chant like a choir. After a few minutes, the bodies begin to float up off the ground. The winds pick up and blow around the group. The blustery currents blow against the maidens and they start screaming the words to their chant in order to be heard over the wind. The clouds above swirl in a circular path. The eye of the rotation opens up and a shaft of light shoots down upon your fallen friends. Before your eyes, the bodies begin to glow. You see their charred bodies slowly heal. Gapping wounds close, new skin and hair grows where it had been burned away. The maidens are showing a great deal of stress. You dont know if they can take much more.
Suddenly, the winds die and the shaft of light fades to nothing. The maidens collapse to the ground. Their fair skin drips with perspiraton and breathing is labored. Finally one maiden stands up and says, "Uh Ari..Arise my champions ... Shriaz and Jurgen!!" First there is nothing, then you see your friend's eyes twitch. Suddenly they gasp for breath, their lungs begin to accept air. Then their eyes open. Shiraz and Jurgen look to have merely awaken from a deep sleep. The crones did it, Shiraz and Jurgen have returned to the living Wold.
(True Resurrection ... no level loss. You're as good as new. Congrats. :)
The lead maiden walks over to greet the reborn heroes. "Get your rest gentlemen, you've traveled a long way. Tonight we may need your help again to finish this. Tonight we perform the Joining Ceremony with the artifacts. We may not be strong enough to do this by ourselves. To become a Crone, you usually have a life time to prepare for the task. We didnt have that luxury. We may need your precision and skill with a blade. We'll explain later but for now we need our rest. I advise you do the same."
(party's initiative. Shiraz and Jurgen may start anytime.)
And more (DM Stephen) This message will self destruct. Friday January 31st, 2003 1:54:03 AM
Some of you feel weighed down with treasure. Especially Sly. -------------------------- (Great Job everyone. Will have treasure amounts, experience and hero points figured out soon. Start thinking about hero point nominations. Expect a new player as well (looks like it might be a druid, great timing for next module). Greg, Im going to email you soon. I may be scheduled for a DM vacation this next month. Ceil, I want to run by a few ideas about Luke.
Sly Foxx and Luke Friday January 31st, 2003 5:43:22 AM
After the explosion from the volcano and that huge beast flying off in to the distance. Sly hugs Luke, but fell something hard in his clothing but thinks nothing of it.
When Sir Thomas comes back from his prayers, Sly will accept a hug and again the slight pain from one of his pocket, this time does not over look it. He retrieve the small Ivory Chest, looking to Sir Thomas, he ask "I wonder where this comes from?"
As Luke and master watches the Resurrection of Jurden and Shiraz, all he could do is tells them "Welcome Back, Let's get some rest."
Ilsidur [AC20, HP 10/69] Friday January 31st, 2003 11:20:14 PM
Ilsidur stands in awe at the power that the crones are able to summon. It is the most powerful divine spell that he has ever seen, and he knows it will be a very long time, if ever, before he can even hope to command such awesome power.
When he sees the results of the spell, he snaps out of his trance of wonderment. "Jurgen, Shiraz! Welcome back to the world of the living! You briefly left this world, but the crones were able to summon you back. We managed to slay Tumult, thanks to both of your help. However, he apparently was only a young dragon, and his mother lived deeper in that volcano you see erupting. She is truly colossal, and makes Tumult look as small and harmless as a field mouse. She took off that way." He points in the direction the massive dragon flew.
"I realize that we are all hurting, but the ladies have said that they need our help tonight in protecting them when they carry out the Joining Ceremony. Since I will not have access to my spells until the dawn, I plan to keep them in my memory. I do have a cure moderate wounds scroll, and two cure light wounds potions that we can share. I personally am in some serious pain, but I can function, if someone else needs help worse than I do. Let me know what you think."
Savin d20+5=16 Friday January 31st, 2003 11:26:35 PM
Savin bows to the maidens after they perform their miracle. "Thank you for your gift. The gift of life is the most precious of all.
Savin will accept Sir Thomas's hug and congradulations awkwardly. It will almost seem like he hasn't been hugged very often and doesn't know what to do. He will murmer back, "Your welcome Thomas."
Savin will then pull out his flute and start to play a merry tune. He wonders what his part will be in the joining ceremony.
Trace and Radiant Friday January 31st, 2003 11:29:22 PM
Trace moves over to Shiraz and Jurgen and hugs them tighly each. "Thank the gods you have made it back. We have won! Your brave actions kept the beast from me and Sly to keep pecking away to finnaly outlast the beast. I belive we were all on our last leg when the wyrm fell. Thank you two very much for your unselfish actions.
We need to get back to town to rest and celebrate! Oh and we have a wonderfull bonus, besides saving the land and the people, returning the metal parts to the maidens, we have escaped with a dragons horde so we might be set for the rest of our lives. Hopefully we can use this bounty to better equip ourselves for future task. Tonight we celebrate life. I belive we have earned that.
Trace moves around to each of his friends giving hugs and laughing with relief.
OOC: Clay Saturday February 1st, 2003 10:48:49 AM
I'm sorry I missed the last post ... I would have liked to greet our fallen heroes who have returned. I would have liked to "emotionally" express my appreciation toward Jurgen for all of his heroic actions.
I believe I have turned in my background with it added to my CS. I did it on the 15th or maybe 16th of January. I did not receive any signs (i.e. emails) that it was received. However, I did have to send it in four parts. Please have Carl email me if he did not get it and I will resend it from a different computer as an attachment.
Thanks
Greg - with apologies Saturday February 1st, 2003 6:15:40 PM
OK - I admit - it was me. I was late in getting my info for Ilsidur to Carl for the Adventurer's Repose. Everyone else's character in the group seems to be up and running at the Repose. I sent my info to Carl and Stephen tonight, so we should be good to go in a day or so. Again, my apologies.

Sir Thomas (AC 25(17 usually), HP 5/59, Darkvision, Fly) Sunday February 2nd, 2003 8:04:27 PM
[OOC:READY! SET! GO!!!]
Thomas feels a great sense of relief and assurance in the return of his friends. "Thank you Domi" Thomas says with relief. When his friends have revived and seem to be realize the safety of their surroundings, Thomas approaches both and gives each a big hug. Thomas says to each, "your bravery more than matches that which is talked about in legend. I am proud to call you friend."
To Jurgen Thomas adds, "I know you stepped in front of that fireball for me. I probably owe you my life. I am eternally grateful to you friend. I hope to repay the favor some day."
Thomas then waits patiently while the others welcome back their friends and then walks with them toward the nearest town. He knows the must rest, and he remembers talk of a town at the base of the mountain. As he walks, he anxiously searches the horizon for Pryte-Honos who should be on his way to meet the group. Thomas occasionally tries to estabilsh a mental link with his steed to expedite their reunion.
Cuts to the Bone (DM Stephen) d100=13 d6=1 Monday February 3rd, 2003 12:11:53 AM
To the south everyone hears a galloping sound. Sir Thomas turns to see his steed, Pryte-Honos, running in full sprint toward the group. The magical horseshoes make the horse more swift than the wind itself. Thomas empathically gets the feeling that Pryte was trying to herd back the other horses. They were frightened off by the explosions. Apparently, he wasnt successful. With the magical horseshoes, they scattered and covered too much distance. --------------- As time passes, everyone feels the exhaustion overtake them. Fighting and killing dragons and coming back from the dead can take a lot out of a person. By the time night falls, all of you are either asleep or resting heavily. Suddenly everyone is woke from their slumber from the cries and shills of pain. The maidens have built a fire not too far away. They've drawn symbols with colored sand on the ground and hung banners with bizarre symbols from poles. Each one his holding serrated knives, gouges and hack saws. One maiden has her arm pressed firmly down on a large stone. Several other maidens hold her down while another cuts on her wrist.
(parties initiative. we will have treasure amounts and experience very soon. Continue and think of hero point nomintations.)

[OOC: Stephen, I know you're very busy with a lot of things, but I stated earlier that I drank the cure moderate wounds potion given me by ... Savin. I didn't roll becaue I'm not sure of the dice designation of the + value of that particular potion. Help? Savin? Stephen?]
Thomas awakens from his sleep, but doesn't feel rested. He had been sleeping in his armor with his back against a small rock because he knew the maidens would call for them soon. However, he didn't expect to be startled from his slumber, and as such is on edge. Having previously returned the mace of icy burst to Ilsidur, Thomas draws his bastard sword +1 in preparation for a fight he is not rested enough to finish. He quickly surveys the surroundings to be sure it is only the group [Rolled 1 + 2 WIS = 13 spot check], and being satisfied approaches the maidens [OOC: or not being satisfied, investigates the source of his suspicions].
Thomas asks the maidens to explain their actions in a very odd way, "I guess this is part of the ceremony during which we are supposed to protect you? In the future you might try being sure we are prepared before you start attacking each other."
Thomas believes this to be "normal" for the maidens based upon his experience with them in the past .... crazy young crones!
[OOC: They aren't pretty by chance are they? Maybe one would like to accompany Thomas to a local tavern for a friendly drink ...! Maybe I should just stay on task.]
Sly Foxx and Luke Monday February 3rd, 2003 5:28:38 AM
Sly is in his sleeping bag, Nice and cozy with Luke of course. When he is awaken, draws his sword. He just stand there trying to get his mind out of the fog of sleep. It takes a few minutes just to see strait, he looks around and there in the sleeping bag is Luke now taking up the bag making himself very much at ease. "What's going on?"
OOC: Cure potion are usually d8+1 for cure light wounds, and then they go up like Cure moderate wounds d8+2 and so on. I think Sir Thomas.
DM Stephen ooc. Monday February 3rd, 2003 9:18:44 AM
(Ceil, Im affraid you are incorrect. In the local game we have always treated cure light wounds potions as a 1d8+3 because you have to be at least 3rd level to brew a potion. We treat Cure Moderate Wounds potions as 2d8+5. Wands are much higher because it takes a high level person to make a wand.)
Savin Monday February 3rd, 2003 9:47:43 AM
Savin hears the noise and puts his hands above his head, pushes up and springs to his feet. He sees the maidens cutting on each other and is horrified. He hurries over and asks, "Ladies, I am sure you are doing this to attach the artifacts. I have some training in the healing arts. Can I be of assistance?"
Sir Thomas addition d8=6 d8=7 Monday February 3rd, 2003 10:46:29 AM
[Rolled 6 + 7 + 5 = 18 hp returned to Thomas' health status. Whew, that's a load off of my mind. Total is now 23/59.]
Trace and Radiant Monday February 3rd, 2003 1:49:55 PM
Trace makes his way over to Sir Thomas as they watch the crones and ask if there is anything they can do or what they should do to protect them.
Trace then turns to Sir Thomas and hands him a cure light wounds potion (1d8 + players level). "Here ya go Sir Thomas, drink this cause you look like youve been on the grill too long. Or maybe just hell warmed over. Anyway drink in good health."
Trace cracks a smile as he returns his attention to the crones and there task at hand.
A slight observation (DM Stephen) Monday February 3rd, 2003 2:32:24 PM
"Wait a sec ... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6!! There are now six maidens!! What the!! Where did the 6th one come from?"
Sly Foxx Monday February 3rd, 2003 5:37:43 PM
Sly looks over to the Maidens, "Boy What a reward! We did such a good job with the dragon. That we got an extra Maiden." Sly takes his hat off and bows to the maidens, "How Do You Do?"
Ilsidur [AC20, HP 22/69] 2d8(4+2)+6=12 Monday February 3rd, 2003 10:34:28 PM
No matter how much Ilsidur tries to remain awake, the actions of the past how many hours haave caught up with him. He sits down, leaning against the rock, casts a healing spell on himself [OOC: Convert find traps spell to cure moderate wounds spell, healing 12 hp], and falls asleep.
He awakens, not very well rested, to the screaming coming from the 5...no 6 crones. 6 crones? He scrambles to his feet and hurries over to where the crones are carrying out their questionable rites. He carefully peers at each of the crones, looking for the one that is out of place. [OOC: Having had them kiss him and such, he should be able to recognize the ones that they have been working for.] If he discovers which one is the new one, he confronts her, and says, "Who are you? You aren't one of the ladies that asked us to help them? Prove yourself to us!"
Shiraz Monday February 3rd, 2003 10:38:37 PM
"I uhh... ohhh...my head..." the huge taur sits up and looks at his friends. "We did it? Thank Domi, little one" Shiraz looks over at Jurgen, "How are you? I see Domi blessed your return to us as well." "Is everyone ok? The maidens have recieved their artifacts? What do you mean they are cutting themselves? Is this normal?" Shiraz grabs his swords and relizes that he isn't wearing his armor, "Ladies!!!" he bellows "What is the meaning of this?"
