Cutting Crew: I just cut off your arm tonight! (DM Stephen) d100=67 d6=6 d100=53 d100=40 d100=67 d20=5 d20=13 Tuesday February 4th, 2003 2:31:12 AM It must have been something you said. With the uttering of Sly's words, the maidens suddenly stop screaming and stare at him. They look slack-jawed with expressions of bewilderment that he would "hit on" them while they were slicing into one another. The scene wasnt meant to be sexy or alluring. A hack saw rests half way through a wrist. A gouge has a bloodied eyeball partially plucked from its socket. A pair of pliers pull on a tongue. After being frozen in place for about 10 to 15 seconds they continue cutting and screaming in pain.
Ilsidur notices the 6th maiden. When he asks about her sudden appearance. Her eyes begin to glow. "We deceive you all this time .... we had to in order to remain hidden from prying eyes." Suddenly the beautiful maidens that have kissed and fondled you all this time become old, gray and wrinkled. Their soft sweet voices become hard, raspy and coarse.
Before the end of the grizzly scene of mutilation, artifacts are passed around, inserted in place, removed again and given to another. The sixth crone had a wooden hand, clinched in a fist, and added it to the set of artifacts. Each time an artifact in joined, the crone glows and receives its power. When all is over each crone has a single artifact. The Crones stand before you in a order of status or hierarchy. A Crone on one end has only one hand severed and is replaced with the wooden fist. While on the opposite end the (highest level) crone is heavily scarred and mutilated, missing both hands, nose, ear, eye and tongue. They appear not to be in pain, but seem to radiate immense power (epic level power)!!!!
"How now you secret and midnight hags!! May our voices sail among the air and show reverence to yond peeping moon." With that being said, they all face skyward and sing into the breeze. The winds blow and push away the clouds. The stars twinkle with a brilliance that you have never seen before.
One crone speaks again to the group. "Heroes you are. You defeat no mere child. Be proud in your victory. Learn from this night. Rest assured the land will not fall. The Dark Lords of Kosh-Marr have no more power over this land and their armies will not invade. Though dangers still exist and the Children of Chaos need not allow your blades to dull. There is much need still. Our work is never ending. We must ask to keep a large sum of Tumults treasure. Protective wards must be errected and fortified. So we will take what we collected (10.6 million in gold and platinum). You may keep what you collected. Farewell heroes. We will most certainly need you again."
After there final words, they disappear!! Suddenly you wake from sleep??!! It is morning ... you were dreaming!! The crones are gone. Everyone is resting quietly (out of your armor and comfortable and fully HEALED!). The sun is shining for the first time in over a week. All your belongings is next to you. Everyone is accounted for, sans the horses the maidens bought for you. Your treasure, that Sly mostly collected, rests on a rock next to him.
14 gems, 137 gold and a tiny ivory and gold chest (about the size of a snuff box).
When Sly inspects the tiny chest and opens it, He will sees a tiny key resting inside. When you take the key out, you feel owner ship pass to you (magically, you just know it). Suddenly a very large ivory and gold chest appears next to Sly. You know the tiny key locks the tiny chest.
The large chest opens and it is full of treasure. You all spend the day going through it all. It contains many wonderous things. (Im assuming your going to cast Detect Magic.)
Money: 36,000 gold 2,000 platinum
Gems: 30 assorted gems (total).
Art Items: (Non magical) Brass Mug with Jade inlay Jeweled and gold crown 5 large spools of platinum thread Ivory pan pipe Woolen tapestry
Magical weapons and armor: Short Sword Large Shield with a angry face on front. Mithral Chainshirt Tiny dagger scabbard with massive sword handle sticking out of it!!
Misc Potions, Scrolls, Rings and Wand: 14 potions, 13 scrolls, 2 rings and a wand.
Wondrous Items: A clear empty bottle with a cork A colorful bottle with decorative stopper A single glove Pair of leather Gauntlets Rust colored bag Bag of dust Deck of Cards Reptile-skin belt Wedding Dress Darkwood mask with elven face Pair of goggles with lenses made from the base of wine bottles A hair brush! Who is most deserving? Party's Initiative)
Trace and Radiant Tuesday February 4th, 2003 3:15:22 AM
Trace awakes and is excited to see the treasure and gold but cant help but feel a bit cheated with loosing 10.6 MILLION gold. They could at least left the .6 with us so that we could advance ourselves to be better in the future when they need us. This was an expensive fight and we didnt even make our money back let alone advance or prosper. I thought the benifit of killing a dragon was its horde in return. Oh well, Trace fights off the frustration and begins to look over the items that were left.
Sly Foxx and Luke Tuesday February 4th, 2003 8:37:38 AM
Sly watches as the scene unfolds and even at the end when the Maidens disappears with the 10.6 million in treasure. Suddenly Sly wakes up, and yes the Maidens are gone with a chunk of their treasure. Standing next to Sly Is Trace, Sly picks up that tiny ivory and gold box, look at it, sees a key in side, takes the key in his hand, it is warm to the touch. Magic! Sly just know it, But what kind? He must find out. Sly speaks those words "Armor Off." His armor disappears and now peaks in Draconic "Magicum Showum Moi" casting Detect Magic. And there next to Sly and Trace is a large Chest made of Ivory and Gold (It Glows good magic). Sly opens the chest pick up the Mithral Chainshirt in one hand and gold coins in the other, with open mouth Sly Look at Trace, "Hey! Big Brother! Do you see what I see? HEY! PEOPLE! LOOK WHAT WE GOT HERE!"
DM Stephen ooc Tuesday February 4th, 2003 10:00:05 AM
(BTW, minus the millions in gold, you all got a massive treasure!! You know the crones took a lot of money, but not the exact amount. I just told you that for out of character knowledge to torment you sadistically. :)
Shiraz Tuesday February 4th, 2003 12:54:04 PM
Shiraz rolls over and smacks his head on a rock,"owww" the taur mutters getting up and rubbing his head. "What are we doing now? WOW!" Shiraz shouts the last part looking at Sly's chest, looks like Trace can finally upgrade those swords and his armor Shiraz says with a smile, reaching out and grasping Trace on the shoulder.
OOC Hero Point Nominations : Jurgen: 7 points for total disregard of self in the entire combat. more to come as I reread the battle.
Jurgen and Vus Tuesday February 4th, 2003 9:00:02 PM [That was mostly french Sly :p]
When Jurgen rises again, from the horrid grip of death, he rubs his arms and legs. Tears dripped down his eyes, as he shook and had some trouble breathing. He started to hit his legs hard. There was little feeling in them, as if he was undead again. But slowly, as a breeze brushed against him, he found that he was indeed alive. Giving a short prayer to every god he could name, meanwhile, he thanked the Crones profusely. They had given him life again...
Suddenly, Jurgen realizes that his clothing had been burned away. Grabbing his backpack, he quickly pulled out of his black robes. Luckily, he hadn't needed to use them. He blushes for a couple of seconds and then grins widely. "I'm... back!" He does an elaborate bow and tries to get the wrinkles out of his robe. Standing there, he hoped he didn't look too much like an evil priest. If he did, there wasn't too much he could do about it.
Except...
Jurgen gazed at the gathering of treasure and almost fell to his knees. There was enough here to keep him going for a steady year or so. The whole group could settle down and be happy...
But that would not happen. They were heroes. And although rest may be called for, they would not receive it. He had died and returned from the grave. No longer was he concerned with the petty problems of his past. Now was the time for his blade to become sharper, even though he rarely used a blade. His magic was stronger, he could feel it. There was a use for it... Good. And Jurgen and seen what evil could do.
No. He would not be able to take a break. No rest for those who sought to fight the unstoppable, rarely got a chance to stop. But Jurgen didn't care, because at this moment, he was happy. He was alive, the group was alive and Tumult was slain. Apparently, he had a very angry mother, but they would have to face her when she came. And they would defeat her.
"That was... a long fight. But Tumult is dead? Then it was worth it." Eventually, Jurgen talks to everyone and hopes to get out the whole story.
He begins to check through all the items that the group has gotten, inspecting them and then trying them out [even the dress]. "Someone wanna take a few hundred gold identify these items? You know, at the Catacombs..."
Greg d8=6 Tuesday February 4th, 2003 10:33:12 PM
[OOC: Hit point roll for Ilsidur going to 7th level cleric. Stephen, I will send you an updated character sheet in a couple of days.]
The Morning After (DM Stephen) d100=92 d6=4 Wednesday February 5th, 2003 12:49:56 AM
Sly holds up the mithral chain shirt and it glistens in the morning sun. It is soooo light in weight and vibrates with magic. Sly also notices when he closes the mini chest, the big chest disappears. Sly feels around for the disappeared chest and nothing is there. Sly quickly opens the mini chest again and thankfully it reappears. Like Magic!! A disappearing chest!!
(see, even the chest is a treasure!!)
Party looks around at one another ..... hmmm what to do. You realize your stomachs are grumbling. Some feel nature's daily morning wake up call (if you know what I mean). You're faced with a bounty of mysterious magical items, money and jewels ... just sitting there ... in the chest ... so lonely. What to do.....?!
(party's initiative. Lets have those nominations. you can nominate yourself!!)
Trace and Radiant Wednesday February 5th, 2003 4:14:29 AM
Jurgen needs his hero points maxed for his unselfish play wich enabled the rest of the group to keep dishing out the damage while he passed on.
Sir Thomas needs one for putting his life in danger to flush out the dragon when no one could see through the illusion at the river of lava.
I also think Shiraz and Savin both did somthing but I cant rember why I had thought that. If someone knows why I was thinking that please jump in.
Sly Foxx and Luke Wednesday February 5th, 2003 8:26:28 AM
Sly closes the big Ivory and Gold Chest, POOF! it turn in to a very small snuff box of Ivory and Gold, to which he puts the silver key back in. "Hey! This is better than a bag of holding and you can even carry it in you pocket. Big Brother! Do you want to carry our treasure box?"
Sly get a view of Jurgen in the Bridle Dress, "Little Brother! Take that female dress off before Sir Thomas sees you." Sly walks over to Jurgen grabs him by the shoulder, "I'm so glad to see you alive [at this point Sly hugs the halfelf.] Now the next time I get you some potion and you don't drink it, I'll hit you!"
Sly rubs his stomach, "In my backpack there's a week worth of trail food, that should take care of breakfast until we get to another town. Right now I need to clean up and wash my clothes and under ware."
Luke help himself to some jerky (the dog knows that for him anyway). Luke stops eating and comes to sit next to Sly. With tail a wagging, waiting to go play in the water.
OOC: I cannot say witch one did the most, Jorgen and Shiraz died for the cause, every body else was fighting tooth and nail which should earn them hero points, Sly came out of this mess healthier than the rest so he don't deserve any.
DM Stephen: Magic Treasure Chest Wednesday February 5th, 2003 9:21:12 AM
(There are two different chests. One is a tiny, itty bitty chest (5" x 3" x 3.5" inches). There is a large chest too. It is BIG (5' x 3' x 3.5' feet). Both chests are identical. The mini chest controls the big one. When you close mini chest, the big chest disappears into a extra dimensional space. When you open the mini chest, the big chest appears. )
OOC: Clay Wednesday February 5th, 2003 9:28:56 AM
I'm in with the rest, Jurgen should get MAX hero points.
Savin should get one for charging the dragon when we were in the trap.
Ilsidur for trying to distract Tumult from Jurgen when we were in the trap.
Ilsidur for trying to save Shiraz from the sleep gaze and putting himself within a few feet of the dragon's jaws.
Thomas for flushing out Tumult at the river of lava
Shiraz for making a stand, knowing he was going to die, with Tumult's FULL attention on him in the treasure room.
Sly for standing in with the dragon after using the wand. FUlly intending to accept the dragon's full attention after using it.
I cannot think of any more right now.
Sir Thomas Wednesday February 5th, 2003 9:32:35 AM
Thomas too feels the sense of pride at their accomplishment, and he spends some time laughing at Sly teasing Jurgen about donning the bridal dress.
He adds his rations to the offering table for breakfast. "Let's fill up. There's no sense in going hungery. We are kings today. Tommorrow we can be humble heroes, but today we are kings. Besides, since Pryte-Honos still has those shoes, I can go to town this afternoon and be back before night fall."
Thomas starts pigging out on what they have for food. "Mmmmm, it's been toasted. Not a bad touch for your normally bland trail mix."
Wedding Bells (DM Stephen) d100=36 d6=6 Wednesday February 5th, 2003 12:25:07 PM
When Jurgen tries on the Wedding Dress, his hair all of a sudden becomes fashionably groomed. His face tastefully covered in makeup. Jurgen has never looked sooo beautiful or smelled so nice!!! A bouquet of flowers appears in his hands.
Sly finds one more item in the treasure that he didnt see before. A silver figurine of a Ferret. Scratched into its back are the words, "Don't pet the Ferret!!"
Sly Foxx and Luke Wednesday February 5th, 2003 1:19:02 PM
Sly let's go of Jurgen, "You better take that dress of before I KISS you on the lips! After all I am Half Human." Sly turns and goes over to Savin and want to give him a hug, "I'm so glad your back, Savin. I don't know what we would do with out you. Here take this statue of a Ferret it even say 'Don't Pet The Farret'. That's funny, I wonder what would happen if you should pet it??" So like the over grown kid that Sly is, He pets the ferret.??
Savin Wednesday February 5th, 2003 5:10:11 PM
Savin watches the antics of his new companions and wonders who he has joined up with. They are quite the fighting team but the master would be slapping their thighs with his bamboo cane for all of these antics. When Sly comes over and greets him, Savin is confused. "Aaaah Sly. I haven't gone anywhere. I have been here all the time. Are you not feeling well. Here sit down and rest. You are obviously disoriented." He will take the ferret statue and look at it. He will then slip it in his pocket. "I will explore this later." he murmers. To the others, " I am willing to take all of this to the local magic store it you want and have it identified. Just give me some of the gold to cover the costs and I will be on my way. That is if no one has any objections."
Jurgen and Vus [OOC] Wednesday February 5th, 2003 8:19:59 PM
Hero Point Nominations
Sir Thomas: The dragon would have drawn the Children of Chaos into his firey doom, if Sir Thomas had not warned the group. In doing so, he incurred the full force of Tumult. He even came onto the verge of death, many times, by putting himself in harms way for his friends. So, I nominate him for 2 Hero Points.
Ilsidur: When Jurgen was assured to die, Ilsidur went into harms way to save the boy. He also did the best he could against Tumult, even getting within the dragon's mouth, to grab a comrades weapon. For this, I nominate Ilsidur for 2 Hero Points.
Shiraz: To stand before your enemy, knowing that you will live is very little. But to stand in front of your enemy, weapons held high, while sure you face death, is true bravery. Shiraz is, therefor, nominated for 1 Hero Point.
Sly: Using his strong magic of ice storms, Sly caused Tumult to face him many times. This causes me to nominate Sly for 1 Hero Point.
Savin: He tried to take the fury and scorn of Tumult, all upon himself, multiple times. And he managed to live through-out, with the cunning and will power that the dragon could not meet. I nominate him for 2 Hero Points.
Trace: Even though it put him in danger, Trace saved the dogs. This may not have brought him great power, or done damage to Tumult, it proved that a death, no matter how small, is uncalled for. That's 1 Hero Point nomination for Trace.
Jurgen: I don't nominate myself for anything. I don't believe in nominating ones own character. Still, I'm loving all of these "max hero points". I think it's funny. Someone had to die, or the 'rage' and realization of death wouldn't have been there. At least, in my mind, Jurgen just had a crazy plan. It just happened to involve the toasting of a sorcerer.
Also, out of curiousity, how much damage did the "Sonic Breath" weapon do? Also, how many hit points did Tumult have total?
Shiraz Wednesday February 5th, 2003 8:22:34 PM
Shiraz laughs at the antics of his young friend and smiles at each of them,"My friends, Savin is right. We must have this treasure identified, so that we may better equip ourselves, but also that we may help others." Shiraz motions over to his pack, I also have rations in my pack for any that are running short, but we should make haste to return to a city or town, so that we can prepare for the next whatever." Shiraz calmly starts putting his armor back on and as he finishes,"I cant help but feel naked without it on."
Jurgen and Vus Wednesday February 5th, 2003 8:24:34 PM
"Take what you need and return quickly, I don't believe we'll hvae nothing to do for very long. Even if Tumult's mother doesn't come looking for us, the Wold is always in need of Heroes, which we happen to be... And I think I'd like to test out some of these items myself." He laughes, curtsying to Savin.
"If it's cheaper, buy some Identify scrolls, enough to find out what all of our items are. Then Sly and myself can begin the casting..." He promptly begins getting out of the dress, tossing the flowers into the air as he does so. "A very... useful item, would you not say so, Sly?"
Shiraz Wednesday February 5th, 2003 8:33:47 PM
OOC forgot to add this to post had a angry child to contend with. Jeff well posted on hero points.
Shiraz then walks over to the treasure chest and looks at the pile of treasure, "Sheesh there is so much of it," the minotaur says with a look of bewilderment. Shiraz slides the goggles over his head and looks at Sly, "How do I look? I feel kind of silly with these on" Shiraz lets out a long heartfelt laugh,"I havent felt this silly since my brother and I were young and got caught in the barn jumping from the loft." Shiraz then picks up the hilt of the sword sticking out of the dagger scabbard and draws the weapon out,"This looks a bit strange, lets see what comes of it."
Savin Wednesday February 5th, 2003 10:26:11 PM
OOC Hero points. I believe Jeff said it all. I concur on his nominations but would like to give him 2 hero points for his actions and sacrifices in the battle.
If no one objects, I am going to go to the Catacombs and get a jump start on getting the stuff identified. Know we aren't in a town yet but it takes several real time days to get this done so I will try to be efficient.
Ilsidur d20+3=16 Wednesday February 5th, 2003 11:20:56 PM
Ilsidur walks over and puts his arm around Jurgen, in a fatherly way. "Jurgen, son, let me tell you a little story about a young dwarf adventurer that helped his friends defeat a dragon. When they found the dragon's hoard, there was this shiny new belt sitting right on top. This dwarf was so taken by the belt, that he put it on straight away. And where moments before stood a fine young male dwarf, now stood a fine young FEMALE dwarf. The change had such a terrible impact on the dwarf that he/she ran out of the room, and right into the killing trap that the rogue had recently led the party safely past. I don't want to curb your wonderful curiousity, but just be aware that curiousity cursed the cat."
[OOC: I concur with the hero point recommendations from Jeff, and I agree with George, that Jurgen deserves 2 points. I would also bump Shiraz up to 2 points, for his selfless heroism, and for standing toe-to-toe with the dragon, knowing full well it would mean his end. I think that he recognized he needed to continue to do damage to the dragon instead of backing off and healing himself; he and his sword were our best option.]
He starts to gather the treasure together, putting the coins in the chest. "Let me have a look at those gems; I have some small ability to evaluate those [OOC: Appraise roll of 16]. Can anyone else appraise these other non-magic items?"
"Savin, I propose we all head to the nearest town for some much-needed R&R, and we can find the entrance to those strange Catacombs there as well, I would imagine."
Sir Thomas Wednesday February 5th, 2003 11:32:23 PM
With his armor on and astride Pryte-Honos, Thomas laughs and laughs at his friends. He too agrees that they should get to town, and he leads the way ... happy to be alive and in good company.
"Domi is good!" Thomas shouts to the wind. "and so is life!"
Love ... lifes sweetest rewards (DM Stephen) d100=27 d6=6 Thursday February 6th, 2003 1:21:19 AM
Sly takes the ferret and against the better wisdom etched on its back goes ahead and pets the ferret. Nothing happens. Savin takes it and puts the figurine into his pocket.
Shiraz takes the strange dagger with the massive handle. Shiraz pulls at the "dagger" from the scabbard. The blade pulls out ... but it keeps coming out. Longer and longer the blade becomes. Much larger than what the scabbard lets you believe. After the whole thing is out, Shiraz has before him a sword of gargantuan porportions. Its blade is more than 25-ft long and weighs close to a 800 pounds. It looks to be a giants weapon. Shiraz has to work to get it back in (with some help from the others). After putting it back, its no heavier than what the exposed handle weighs.
Shiraz puts the goggles on and everything has a rosey appearance. One look at Sly, and you have to admit that he is soooo wonderful. He's the best pal in the whole Wold. You just want to take Sly into your arms and give him the biggest warmest hug. Shiraz feelings are sooo strong, he cant help but tell Sly how much he loves him and how great he is. One look at Jurgen in the bridal dress, and Shiraz sees the worlds most beautiful woman he has ever seen. He usually not attracted to non-minotaurs but Shiraz feels his heart racing and is "drunk" with ecstasy. (Everyone who is looked at with the goggles recieves a +20 bonus to all Charisma checks and skills with the wearer.)
Savin begins to feel some strange vibration from his pants. The ferret starts to make a strange low pitched sound. You all hear high pitched squealing from all around you in the distance.
(We will handle all identifing in the game. The Catacombs would have to hound me for a list of the items. Many are non-traditional and I have my own prices. You can do your purchasing in the Catacombs though. Play with the treasure, some things you can identify yourselves. Dont deny yourself the fun of rumaging through a dragon treasure. Party's Initiative.)
Sly Foxx and Luke Thursday February 6th, 2003 7:33:07 AM
As Shiraz let's Sly go, and moves in on the love of his life. Sly goes back to the chest and wonders what else that Wrym was hoarding away. Sly tips the chest over, letting every thing fall out. "WOW" Sly look at it all." Sly spot a lone glove, picks it up and it look odd. Sly cannot tell which hand it goes on?? but puts it on his left hand. Then He look at Luke sniffing at a hair brush. "Well, Luke! Would you like for me to brush your coat? Come here and I'll make you fur and skin gleam, yes sir your going to be one good looking dog." Sly brushes away.
Savin Thursday February 6th, 2003 7:52:22 AM
Savin feels the vibration in his pocket and pulls the ferret statue back out. If it is still a statue he will examine it more closely. If it is something that is moving and hissing he will place it on the ground.
Savin then looks around and settles himself into a comfortable stance with his arms raised in front of his chest ready for anything.
Ilsidur Thursday February 6th, 2003 5:55:14 PM
Ilsidur laughs at the beautiful Jurgen. "Where is the handsome groom? Is it going to be you, Shiraz?"
Against his better judgement, his curiousity is piqued, and he goes over and picks up the large shield. [OOC: Stephen, I presume it is steel?] He takes a close look at the face on the front, and if he doesn't feel any negative vibes, tries it on his arm.
Jurgen and Vus Thursday February 6th, 2003 7:26:35 PM
Jurgen pulls the bridal gown off, setting it nicely on the ground, so that it will remain clean and ready for the next use. If the make-up remains, he attempts to rub it away, the best he can.
"Hey Savin, is that a ferret in your pocket? Or are you just happy to-" Looking aruond, he sees that it may very well be a ferret. "You... rubbed it? And now we hear the squeals from all around us. Yeah, that's a smooth move. Real smooth." He rolls his eyes and hits his head against his hand. "Well, we'll deal with the problems that may come of it. Meanwhile..."
Jurgen grabs two of the rings and puts one on each finger, twisting them around and playing with them. Then, he takes one off and runs around for a bit. After a little while, he switches to the other ring, running around a bit and stuff.
Ilsidur Thursday February 6th, 2003 7:30:34 PM
Ilsidur calls out, "Before we go too crazy trying everything, I suggest that no-one open the bottles or the bags. One never knows what might jump out. Also, many magic items like that are one shot items. Jurgen, that means you!" [OOC: I presume you have all heard the one about the wooden match tester...Whoosh, 'well, that one works', whoosh, 'so does that one'...as he lights each match to see if it is going to work.]
Shiraz Thursday February 6th, 2003 9:10:04 PM
"Whoops!" Shiraz says as he pulls the goggles off of his eyes,"that makes Jurgen too pretty for me," Shiraz turns and looks at the others, "I am ready to return to prettier places, and away from the spot of my recent demise."
Sir Thomas Thursday February 6th, 2003 11:49:57 PM
Thomas, though he gains immense pleasure from watching his friends do such silly things, does not see the wisdom in activating all of this magic at one time. "Do you guys really think you should be doing that?"
But it's too late. Thomas cringes and just waits. "I think Ilsidur has the best idea yet, and possibly the most wisdom. And I agree with Shiraz, if we start walking now, we can sleep in beds tonight."
Quality Tested, Ferret Approved (DM Stephen) d100=21 d6=6 Friday February 7th, 2003 2:20:32 AM
Jurgen takes off the dress and puts it away in a safe place. The makeup stays and the flowers remain, but rubbing your face removes the makeup. You no longer look as beautiful as you did. Putting on the rings, Jurgen begins to prance to leap about the camp. After leaping off an old rotten log, Jurgen feels himself float gently to the ground (like a feather).
The squeaking gets closer and louder. You all suddenly see a swarm of frenzed ferrets racing toward the silver ferret figurine. The wave of ferrets hit the little statue and it rolls about whirling in the chaos. Are those all female ferrets ... why are they bug-eyed and drooling!!!? The ferrets continue to rush in. They run around and climb all over you. They dont seem to be the slightest bit interested in any of the party. There are soo many ferrets that you cant see the figurine anymore. Slowly the mass of polecats begins to move away from the camp. They seem to be dragging the figurine with them. They eventually disappear back into the forest and peace finally returns.
Sly puts on the single glove, but nothing seems to happen or does he feel any different. He also combs Luke with the brush. Nothing happens except a better looking coat (hypro-glow). However the effect doesnt seem magical, just the normal effect of using a brush to the dogs hair for the first time.
Ilsidur picks up the large steel shield. It is light, yet strong. You get no negative feelings from it. You do sense magic flowing though it. There is a humanoid face molded onto the front. It has a grimacing expression of anger or disgust. After you strap it on, the face art and the shields general appearance takes on a dwarven's style of craftsmanship.
Sir Thomas, not wanting to stay out in the wilderness any longer than he needs to, decides to get everyone ready to return to town. However, the trip will take longer without the other horses. It will take several days to make the journey.
Everything is packed up, Sly closes the mini chest and the big chest disappears (that's sooo convenient!! Better than a several bags of holding). Sly can easily put the chest back in his pocket.
The party travels the whole day with no problem. By night fall, you are all exhausted. After a little dinner by a roaring camp fire, you all go to sleep. The next morning Savin wakes up and becomes startled by another set of eyes staring back at him!! IT'S THE FERRET FIGURINE!!! The ferret sits there, frozen in silver and surrounded with nuts and berries!! A big toothy smile is on its face. Besides the mischievious grin, he looks exactly the same way he was before. You now have a better understanding of the words, "Don't pet the Ferret!!" You're then alerted to several dozen other ferrets sleeping around the camp. They look soo content!! Strange!
(party's initiative)
Sly Foxx and Luke Friday February 7th, 2003 9:50:05 AM
Sly with the others Children of Chaos, they put away all the treasure back into the chest, except the deck of cards. Sly takes the silver Key out of the Chest. Puff! It becomes a little snuff box again. As Sly puts the box back into his pocket, Sly will hand the Deck of Cards to Ilsidur, "Looks like we have another deck of cards, I cannot tell if they are magic, Since you handle the last deck, I thought you might check this deck out."
They all camp out and Sleep soundly for the first time in a long, long time. They all wake to see A ring of females ferrets and the Ferret Figurine with a smile in it's face, looking at Savin. Sly is laughing and tells Savin "We were so tired that we slept through a Ferret Love Feast, And the girls brought back the Statue back to you." Sly is laughing so hard the his sides hurts.
Savin Friday February 7th, 2003 7:36:26 PM
The monk seems slightly embarrassed as he looks around. "I wonder if these ferrets are going to follow us around or they are just sleeping it off." He points to Sly and says to the ferrets, "He rubbed the silly statue. Follow him around!"
Sir Thomas Saturday February 8th, 2003 1:19:07 AM
Finished with the amusement, Thomas spends his time thinking, occasionally laughing at the antics his friends continue to produce, and praying. He knows a great favor and weight has been placed upon them, and he is greatful. Thomas is tired ... oh so tired. he does not withdrawl from the group, but he no longer joins in the antics as if he were of school age again. And Thomas is himself again.
Shiraz Sunday February 9th, 2003 10:00:02 PM
Shiraz smiles at Sly's comment on the chest,"Thats gonna come in handy if we ever need to hide something well." Sleeping soundly at night Shiraz doesnt even notice the ferrets return until the group makes comment.
Jurgen and Vus Monday February 10th, 2003 12:29:22 AM
Although he wants a word with Thomas, Jurgen gives the knight his space. He needed to think about what he wanted to say anyway. And there was treasure-a-plenty to mess with, anyway. In fact, that painting there looked mighty interesting.
Grabbing it, Jurgen decides to examine it extensively. He sits down and looks at it, trying to figure out what exactly it is.
Sly Foxx and Luke Monday February 10th, 2003 8:18:12 AM
"Ilsidur my friend, Do you have an identify spell? I would like to know if this Mithral Chainshirt is curse? Please?? "Sly ask Ilsidur. "Is there an Identify Scroll among the treasure we have here?"
Sir Thomas Tuesday February 11th, 2003 2:11:08 AM
Thomas takes a deep breath and appreciates the wonderous scent of nature ... happy to be alive, the paladin just enjoys the riding time.
DM Stephen Tuesday February 11th, 2003 10:08:45 AM
(Sorry for the delay. Writing module and preparing to go on dm vacation. Greg has agreed to DM for the next 4 weeks. I will have one last DM post before Greg takes over. Just running short on time folks.)
Sly Foxx and Luke Tuesday February 11th, 2003 1:02:29 PM
"Gentlemen! I need your help. In the chest I pick up this Mithral Chainshirt, being a half/elf, I know that it is magic, BUT I would like to know if it is curse. Because there is also a large shield with an angry face on it, a magic short sword and as we saw before a magic Giant size sword. That be wonderful for you Shari my minotaur friend. If it's curse and I wear it, I'll be curse forever and I'll will have to leave all of you. But if it is not curse, I'll be able to wear it and give one of you my magic Chainmail of Teleportation one word on then one word off. Can you help me at all? Ilsador your a priest, Savin your a monk and you Jurgen are a sorcerer, Can anyone help me??"
On the way home (DM Stephen) d100=71 d6=3 d4=1 Tuesday February 11th, 2003 6:10:54 PM
Sly takes the tiny chest, that is the SIZE of a snuff box (the tiny chest doesnt turn into a snuff box) and latches it shut. The identical BIG chest disappears into a dimensional pocket.
(The tiny chest and the big chest are perfectly identical except for size. The tiny chest is the device that takes the big chest between dimensions. Open tiny chest, big chest appears. Close tiny chest, big chest disappears. The key only allows you to lock the tiny chest, if you wish to do so. If you break the tiny chest, you lose the big chest and whatever is within it. A Wish spell may bring it back.)
Sly studies the mithral chainshirt a little longer. Is it cursed he asks himself!! Sly doesnt feel any ill will coming from the armor. Its construction is of the highest quality. Someone spent a LONG time making it. Mithral is soooo hard to work with and sooo pure a metal. Why would anyone curse such a glorious treasure.
Sly then gives the deck of cards to Ilsidur.
Jurgen takes the small portrait and looks at it closely. Why ... its a portrait of an adorable little wyrmling ... a baby dragon. It has the cutest little smile and wide eyes filled with wonder!! Wait a sec .... it's a baby RED dragon. The frame has the name Tumult engraved into the top (in draconic). At the bottom it says, "My First Flame!" When Jurgen reads that, the little smiling baby Tumult becomes animated from within the art. It gurgles and makes a cute little giggle. Then suddenly Tumult hic-ups and a little ball of flame comes bursting out at Jurgen (1 point of damage). Tumult giggles a little more then settles back in the painting and becomes still again. As Jurgen sits there with a blackened face and charred goatee, he realizes that this painting must be showing Tumult's first breath of fire. Ahhh how cute ... precious moments!! :)
Later as the party continues to travel home, they meet up with an exhausted kobold. He uses his spear to help hold his weight as he tries to head back to the mountain. Looks like he has been walking day and night without sleep, food or water. He doesnt know of Tumults demise and he attempts to take an defensive stance as the party approaches. He is near collapse. "Paa... Prepare to too to feel Tu Tumult's Wrath ... Itty Bi Bittiessss!!!" With those last words he collapses from exhaustion. He lays on the gorund breatheing heavy and looks to be near death.
(party's initiative ... Greg can now take over if he is ready.)
Jurgen and Vus d20+3=22 Tuesday February 11th, 2003 7:35:14 PM
Cursing the painting silently, Jurgen sets it aside and begins the journey again. He does so with high hopes. He was alive, Tumult had been defeated and nothing could get him down today. Dragons, Giants, Evil... Nothing. Life was, indeed, good.
"Today is a wonderful day. We are good. Let us enjoy it, while it lasts." He breathes in the fresh air and begins to stretch out.
At the sight of the Kobold, Jurgen's first reaction is one of attack. Nearly letting off a spell, straight towards the exausted creature. But then, he gets a vision of himself dying. Falling to the ground, a crisp and burnt, lifeless. Only because he was fighting for good. This creature... however twisted and wrong, was only that way because of Tumult. The dragon had used his power over the kobolds. No, it didn't deserve to be killed. Unless it still held grudges towards them.
With that decision, Jurgen rushes forward and grabs a chunk of meat from his bag and puts it to the kobold's mouth. With his other hand, he rolls the spear away from the downed creature.
"Eat... Tumult has been slain. We..., Jurgen ponders for a moment, "... have taken his place. I am of dragon's blood. So his namesake belongs to me." Jurgen waits, hoping that his bluff will work.
[Bluff Check - Success if DC is 22 or Lower]
[Do we have a Hero Point tally, Stephen?]
Savin Tuesday February 11th, 2003 10:15:55 PM
Savin is quiet on the journey home. He just doesn't know how to cut lose yet. He is interested in playing with some of the magic items but isn't impressed with what he has seen so far. He hopes that some of the items have a more tangible value to them. He quickly looks around to see if any ferrets are chasing him.
Sir Thomas d20=5 d10=1 Tuesday February 11th, 2003 11:21:16 PM
Thomas draws his sword in response to the kobold's threat, but allows Jurgen to try his bluff. Thomas will not stand by for long if the kobold decides to attack his friend. (Readied action, Rolled 5 + 12 = 17 to hit; 1 + 4 = 5 dmg) Thomas will strike the creature with the flat of his blade to get its attention ONLY if it makes a move at any of his friends. [OOC: I rolled a normal attack and dmg roll even though I want the special ... less life threatening attack option. I didn't really know how to treat that.]

[OOC: Hey guys, I am taking over DM duties tonight. I will post sometime after supper.]
Sly Foxx and Luke Wednesday February 12th, 2003 8:48:42 AM
Sly ponders Should I wear this Chianshirt or should I just sell it? I don't want to curse any of the others. Then he remembers what his mother said 'Son! If you don't try, You'll never know.' "All right Mom! I trust you." With this said Sly does his morning duties and takes his old Chainmail of Teleporting off, look at it for a second or two, then put the Mithral Chainshirt on. He waits to see if it's curse.
But along Kobold which fall on his face, Jurden goes to his aid. Sly will cast a Charm person on the Kobold, hoping that he is not curse.
Shiraz Wednesday February 12th, 2003 12:07:05 PM
Shiraz will stand as close to Jurgen as he can without trying to appear as menacing. "What should we do with him?" Shiraz asks Sir Thomas and awaits teh paladins response.
Jurgen [OOC] Wednesday February 12th, 2003 6:50:11 PM [Hey Sly, if you decide to use one or the other sets of chainmail, would you mind if Jurgen got the other tossed his way? It'd definately be useful, instead of that crazy sorcerer dying so much.]
Sir Thomas Wednesday February 12th, 2003 11:07:07 PM
"I don't know what to do with him ... I think Jurgen has the best idea. Let's see if we can't change his mind about working for minions of evil."
Thomas gives Jurgen a thumbs up.

Ilsidur Thursday February 13th, 2003 11:37:55 PM
Ilsidur smiles at Jurgen's attempt to sway the kobold to his service. "It seems like most of the others in the party have a pet, so why not Jurgen?," he thinks to himself. "Oh wait, he already has a pet. I wonder if his dog will be jealous?"
He turns around just in time to see Sly slip the mithral chain mail over his head. "Sly, don't you think you are being a bit impetuous? I hope that armour doesn't end up turning you into a toad, or something equally warty."
A new pet? (Back-up DM Greg) d20=9 Friday February 14th, 2003 12:03:57 AM
The kobold wakes up at the smell of meat, and takes a small bite. "Water...", he says. Assuming Jurgen gives him a little water, he sits up, looks up at Jurgen, and says, "You dragon too, like Tumult, you say? You don't look like dragon, you look like Itty Bitty!" He sniffs a bit and says, "You smell like Itty Bitty, too! Wait, you say Tumult ... dead? You kill Tumult? I know someone who be VERY unhappy with you! I bet you be sorry some day!" Then it seems the exhaustion and discussion overcomes the poor little dog-face, since he slumps back into unconsciousness. [OOC: Ceil, I figure this happened so fast, Sly didn't get a chance to cast the Charm Person.]
Meanwhile, Sly talks himself into taking a big chance, and tries the Mithral Chain Shirt on. Steeling himself for the expected evil curse to hit, Sly feels...nothing. The shirt feels incredibly light, almost as if Sly was wearing nothing at all. [OOC: Ceil, I suggest you look up mithral chain shirt in the DMG for the stats. If there are other powers to the shirt, good or bad, you are going to have to wait to find out. ;)]
Savin has kept his eyes open along the way, and has noticed no further signs of ferrets, either male or female.
The party continues to make its way back to Heranmar. After an uneventful night and day of travelling, you arrive at the gates to the town.
[OOC: Let me know if you plan to take the kobold with you. The intent is to enter Heranmar, and spend a few weeks in down time. I expect the posts to take until the middle of next week. I haven't received the new module from Stephen yet, so we have a few days of posting to 'use up'. I'm sure that you can put them to good use!]
Sir Thomas d20=11 Friday February 14th, 2003 12:20:33 AM
Thankful that he does not have to use force on such a pitiful creature, Thomas addresses the kobold with the utmost respect in his voice. "Kind sir, I do not follow your line of thought. Tumult seems to have been your master, so isn't he the most powerful creature you know? I mean, who ... what ... is more powerful than a red dragon? We do have more food and more water that you are welcome to eat and drink. Please, travel with us after you have gained some strength. We would seek your council."
[Rolled 11 + 10 skill modifier = 21 for diplomacy]
Savin Friday February 14th, 2003 10:52:56 AM
Savin pipes in, "Jurgen, I doubt that the kobold is worth the trouble. Leave him some food and water if you want, but let's not take him with us into town. We already know the townsfolk are shy to non humans. Bringing a kobold is most likely to set them off."
After the group returns to Heranmar, Savin will say, "Let's get some rooms and start experimenting with some of those items. I think we should get the one shot items identified. We can play with the others. I am curious about the elven mask."
Slay Foxx and Luke Friday February 14th, 2003 11:15:26 AM
Sly feel the lightness of the Chainshirt, noe he'll opens his eyes (this is the test is it evil or not?) and look around from face to face of his companions, he fells admeration and pride. "I don't think it is curse, because I still look up to you, my little Friend. I even like Sir Thomas." Sly picks up his Chainmail of Teleporting and walks to Jergen, hands him the Armor, "Wear this armor in good health. I show you how it works later."
OOC: Scott I posted the Armor's Stats in the Loot'n'Booty last night. ADM Gregg I have look it up in the book, when i knew it was Mithral Shirt, Sly has been looking for such a armor for a long time, the armor has no penalty check and only weight 10 lbs (spell failure is only 10%)
Jurgen and Vus d20+3=20 Friday February 14th, 2003 9:35:09 PM
Jurgen lets Sir Thomas explain to the kobold, the logic that he can. There was much more to be said, but it could wait. This creature was in no condition to go anywhere, so they were safe... For now.
With Savin's words, Jurgen looks astonished. "You doubt that he is worth the trouble? Or is it that you don't wish to take the time to learn that. All creatures, great and small, deserve a chance at life. This one, misguided by Tumult's evil, now has a chance at a new life. If I can show him the way, then he is worth all the trouble in the world. Who cares what the townsfolk say, we are the Children of Chaos. This entire land is safe because of us, so I doubt that any will question our behavior and if they do then we can simply explain, for we have nothing to hide." He smiles at Savin, hoping that his friend wouldn't try and take it further then that. Jurgen would do his best to keep this kobold alive and place him on the path of good.
"Ilsidur, can you heal him a little bit. Not a huge about, but enough to help him stay up? I would appriciate it." He nods to the dwarf and then returns to the kobold.
When it awakens again, Jurgen speaks to it once more, this time in Draconic. "I look like Itty Bitty because I want to. This is my form, for now. Something that Tumult couldn't teach you, is that dragons come in many shapes and sizes. Dragons can be huge towering beasts, if they dare, or they can be kobolds. He was weak and his blood tainted. No... Tumult was a simple beast. I have power that he could only dream of. Many people will be unhappy with us for causing the dragon's demise, but even more will rejoice. Your people did, for I am Jurgen. I have the blood of a dragon running through me. If I wished, I could become like you. But obviously, you are fascinated with the simple tricks of an unworthy dragon... You have a choice. Since Tumult, your weak god, is dead, you have two places to go. One is with me, to learn from us and teach us. Tumult made the mistake of learning nothing from his kobold brethern. The other is to be left here, where any number of things would get you. And you would die an unworthy death. Only you can choose..."
[Bluff Check - Success if DC 20 or lower]
Ilsidur Sunday February 16th, 2003 11:32:56 PM
Ilsidur watches with confusion as Sir Thomas and Jurgen discuss bringing the kobold with them. "Why do you want the dog-face to come with us? He will be totally out of place in Heranmar, and will likely feel very uncomfortable there. If you want to help him, lets bring him with us for the rest of the day, and I can tend him until his strength comes back. Then we can give him some money, and send him on his way. I'm sure he will be happier finding some of his own kind, rather than trying to fit in in a xenophobic town like Heranmar. Also, can we trust him? Are we willing to be responsible for him? Will you watch him every waking moment, Sir Tom, Jurgen? Let's make a simple travois, and pull it behind your horse, Sir Tom. I will help him as we travel."
At the gates of Heranmar (Back-up DM Greg) Sunday February 16th, 2003 11:59:40 PM
The party (mostly) decides to bring the exhausted kobold along for the ride. As they near the gates to Heranmar, Ilsidur's healing arts pay off, and the kobold sits up. He listens to what Sir Thomas and Jurgen have to say. "You want Mappo to do what? You want to talk to me? You want to teach me? Teach me to do what? You go to Harnmar? Mappo not go to Harnmar! Harnmar people hate kobolds! They hurt kobolds! Mappo go home, OK?"
Looking at the town gates, the party sees the odd cart and traveller entering. There are also two guards at the gates, who seem to be asking every traveller a few questions, and carrying out a cursory search of the wagons and carts.
Sly Foxx and Luke Monday February 17th, 2003 6:58:54 AM
Sly (who is standing not to far from Mappo and the others)tells the little kobold. "You are very smart, here take some food and water. we are going to have enough trouble getting Sharaz through the gates with those guards on duty" Sly goes into his back pack and gives little Mappo his trail blanket, "Here take this too, Good Luck"
Sir Thomas d20=19 Monday February 17th, 2003 11:06:29 AM
"Good luck on your journey Mappo." Thomas states wihtout much feeling. He is not sad to see the kobold go, but he, like Jurgen, feels a sense of hope that this creature can successfully create a new life for himself. Thomas does not feel even a spark of optimism that the Wold will allow that end.
Once the kobold has gone, Thomas speaks more freely to the group. "I don't really think we'll get much grief at the town gates. Everyone in town knows us or knows of us ... surely that hasn't changed in a week. Let's go to the inn and see who's around. I wonder if Holly or Donk are in town. I bet those gnomes of Alemi are still around too." Thomas looks at the town critically to see if the destruction that was wrought has been replaced, even if only somewhat.
[Rolled 19 + 2 WIS = 21 Spot check]
Shiraz Tuesday February 18th, 2003 8:43:40 AM
Shiraz quietly walks behind the party, listening to his friends but mostly lost in day dreams of other happy times. The taur scarcely notices the leaving the kobold, and only nods at teh suggestion of finding Holly or Donk.
Jurgen and Vus Tuesday February 18th, 2003 12:14:48 PM
"If you wish to go, then I wish you the best of luck Mappo. May the Wold shine on you brightly." Jurgen pulls out some food and hands it to the kobold. "I hope to meet you another day." He smiles and waves as Mappo goes off.
He continues along with the group, with only a little anger towards Ilsidur. That dwarf needed to learn that not all were evil and some who appeared evil, weren't. But still, there was time to learn. Now was a time to celebrate. The city awaited them and they had a fine sleep coming to them.
Savin Tuesday February 18th, 2003 2:59:57 PM
Savin briefly wonders in Jurgen's experiences had addled his mind. What was he thinking. The kobold was an obvious ally of Tulmult. He tried to attack the group before he collapsed. Savin shakes it off. He is ready to go to town, find a nice bed and a hot meal. Maybe even a bath and start experimenting with the magic items they recovered
Ilsidur Wednesday February 19th, 2003 12:46:24 AM
Ilsidur watches the kobold depart, and nods his head. "Good riddance; I only forsaw trouble if we had tried to keep him around. Hopefully he makes it back to what is left of his group."
Then Ilsidur follows the party as they head to the town gates.
Entering Heranmar - back to civilization (Back-up DM Greg) Wednesday February 19th, 2003 12:56:47 AM
The party approaches the main gates to the town, and come to the notice of the two guards. One is an older veteran, and the other is a teenager, barely old enough to shave.
The older one addresses you, "Halt, all of you. The gate passage fee is 1 sp per person, and 2 sp for your horse, young man (looking at Sir Thomas). Your weapons will be required to be peace bonded, by order of the city council."
"And you," he says, looking at Shiraz, "make sure you behave. We don't want your kind causing problems in our fair town." Then he turns to the rest of the party and says, "State your business in Hernamar. How long do you plan to stay?" He and the younger guard move towards the party, with a number of pieces of twine in hand.
Sir Thomas can see through the open gates that the rebuilding of the town has started, and is moving at a very quick pace (perhaps those gnomish Fixers of Alemi really are helping out).
