Welcome to Burnt Eldor

Bad Apples (DM Stephen)  d100=33 d6=5 d100=46 d6=3
Friday May 9th, 2003 12:55:13 AM

Ilsidur sighs for he feels his speech didnt produce the response he was hopeing for. Instead of embracing one another as brothers and reveling in the glory of their quest, they continue to bicker and act all lethargic. (lol, ive never been known for my motivational speaking. Im going back to my van down by the river!! :)

Ilsidur continues, "Trace, there is still plently of Dragon treasure left unclaimed. How many cursed items can their be? We may have just found the bad apple in the bunch ... so to speak. All the items cant be cursed. Just call me an optimist!"

Sir Thomas looks down at the dwarf from his mount. "You're words werent lost on me. I'll always consider you my brother and your words of wisdom are always appreciated. You may have a point about the apples!!"

Sly gathers the cursed gloves and places them in the magic chest. (sorry Jeff, Ceil did post first.)

As everyone makes they're way down the path, Savin comes to the tree that he recognizes. He is drawn to a little gash on its trunk; a very old gash, barely noticable. Why? You would have had to be knowing what to look for to even notice it. However, you dont know what it means (unless you make your WL check), but you know it means something ... second hand knowledge! (The elves in the group can make a Wilderness lore check DC 15, while others can make Wilderness Lore checks 25 to figure it out. Its a culture thing.)

Savin still feels he knows which way to go.

(Party's Initiative. Ok, now both Clay and Greg are unavailable to play for a short time. Does anyone want to play Sir Thomas or Ilsidur until they come back?)

Trace and Radiant  d20+10=28 d20+10=26
Friday May 9th, 2003 2:26:57 AM

Trace continues to look and search down the path for any and everything. (spot check 28 and wilderness lore 26). Trace sees the gash and moves up to inspect it. Once he realizes what it means he relays it to the city folk in the group.

As Trace wiats for the others to catch up he begins to pick a sore left behid by one of the wolves. A fruit fly quicly flies into Traces left ear and gets lost and Trace fuirously squishes and scrapes at it to kill or heard the demon out. Radiant tilts his head down a Trace wondering what in the world he is doing.

Sly Foxx and Luke  d20+6=25
Friday May 9th, 2003 7:25:59 AM

Sly hugs Ilsidur, Telling him "I don't blam Trace to much, he's very disapointed in himself right now. After all he is a full blooded elf, they are a very proud race. Now let us catch up with Savin."

With his gear all on his back, marching along. Thowing a branch for Luke to fetch. Will walk up to tree, Reconises the gash (made Wilderness Lore- 25), "Yep! that's what it is alright."

Shiraz
Friday May 9th, 2003 9:01:49 AM

ooc. Sorry about missing yesterdays post I am having a bit of a problem with my computer and I am in the process of fixing it.

Shiraz smiles at the dwarfs words and his vigor this morning, letting that be his guide Shiraz quickly follows Trace and Savin down the path to the tree smiling as he walks.

Peerimus and Yorrick  d20=5
Friday May 9th, 2003 3:26:19 PM

Yorrick sniffs the air and sits down as everyone gathers about the tree. Spying the flying stick he races Luke to it and tries to start a tug of war.

Peerimus moves up to look as well (wilderness Lore 5+14=19)

"An old wound to be sure. I could ask the tree if we feel we need more information."

Savin  d20=10
Friday May 9th, 2003 4:38:52 PM

Savin walks up to the tree and feels the scar on the tree. He knows he should know something about it, but that knowledge is eluding him. He continues down the path.

OOC I can take one of the characters if you wish. Just send me one and I will do my best.

Jurgen [Koboldian] and Vus [Blink]  d20+3=10
Friday May 9th, 2003 10:15:11 PM

Jurgen continues along the path that Savin is leading. While the group chitters and chatters, he tries to catch a noise from around him. Finding little but the sounds of his friends, a quicker pace comes in order.

[Listen Check - Success if DC 10 or lower]

"I'm not even going to ask..." He smiles as Savin rubs the tree. "Maybe your body hasn't been your own for a tad too long." He winks and lets the group keep up their wondering.

"Lets move quickly. Staying in one place for too long could be deadly."

Greg OOC
Friday May 9th, 2003 10:41:04 PM

I'm back, so Sly, can you take over Sir Thomas for a little while? Thanks for filling in for me, Stephen. That was quite the soapbox you had the dwarf climb onto!

Sir Thomas {Ceil}
Saturday May 10th, 2003 9:55:50 AM

Sir Thomas rides along, with Ilsidur sitting behide him, "You know my dear friend, we are growing closer together. Have you notice we act almost as one when in a fight? Yes! my friend WE have come a long way and have a long way to go?" They ride along the trail that Savin is leading them.

Welcoming Committee (DM Stephen)  d100=78 d6=3
Saturday May 10th, 2003 3:35:11 PM

Trace and Sly, the only ones with elven blood have little to no problem recognizing the small marks on the tree. A village is nearby. The gash in the tree was made by an arrow from long long ago. A hardened wooden arrowhead to be exact. The direction in which the arrow was shot directs an aware elf of the proper direction. The arrow head was never pulled out but allowed to waste away over time, leaving a distinct mark.Trace conveys this information to the group.

Funny, the direction Trace says the gash indicates is the same direction Savin wants to go. However, what little there was of a trail is now completely obsured by the forest. All the party can do is follow the direction the mark on the tree directed.

After a quarter mile of so in the same direction, three arrows suddenly fly out from somewhere (spot check 20) and land in the ground directly in front of the lead party member. The arrows are precisely shot in a straight line, 6 inches apart.

In the distance, everyone hears a voice shout down in common. "Halt!!! State your business, outlanders." (Listen check 15 to hear movement in the surrounding foliage)

Trace and Radiant  d20+10=22 d20+6=21
Saturday May 10th, 2003 11:11:11 PM

As Trace moves forward pointing out the signs he is following, he sees three arrows slam into the ground in front of him. He points out to the others where the arrows came from and holds his hands up in defensive manner.

As he starts to state there reason for being there he hears others starting to surround them. Trace quickly relays the postions of the newcomers and how they are surrounding them.

Again Trace raises his hands, "We are not bandits or raiders, we have been given permission to travel these woods. Our mission is a rightous one. Please dont attack, we will not show agresson here."

Trace continues to study the targets and decide wich would need to be eliminated first if they do not have a friendly outcome.

Sir Thomas {Ceil}
Sunday May 11th, 2003 8:12:49 AM

Sir Thomas ride up next to Trace, holds his hands up to show no intent of trouble "We come To help." bur to Trace he ask "how many do you think are out there and where do they come from?"

Sly Foxx and Luke
Sunday May 11th, 2003 8:26:04 AM

Sly touches the scar on the tree, and tell Peerimus "Look an old arrow wound, must be close to a village. Hmmm! Funny it looks like the village might be in the same direction as Savin in heading to?"

Sly follows the path Savin going along, But when the arrows fly. Sly drops next to and get a hold of Luke by the collar, "Peerimus! hold Yurric back until we know what there intention are. I don't think they are going to fight??"

Jurgen [Koboldian] and Vus [Blink]  d20+3=4
Monday May 12th, 2003 2:10:53 AM

Jurgen, while obviously seeing the arrows in front of the group, cannot find where they came from. No matter. They were hiding in trees. When what your hiding in catches fire, you usually try to get out... That was just Jurgen's experience though. Maybe this was just a misunderstanding. Sure... That could be it. But it wasn't bloody likely. Odds were that these people were working for whatever Sayra felt was in this forest. "Wouldn't it be nice if everyone didn't automatically jump to the conclusion that people were out to hurt them?" Jurgen smiles, quoting Sir Thomas, not too long ago. In fact, last time they were threatened by elves, this same thing occured. The only difference was Jurgen sung. And now was the time to be careful.

[Spot Check - Failure with a 5]

Still... Cautious was one thing. Twitchy to the point of throwing spells around was another. It was time to let Trace do what he could. Obviously, he wanted to lead and that was his choice. But now, Jurgen had a few words. There was power in a sorcerer's tongue, just as much as in his spells.

"King Farnolis has given us permission to walk these forests. We bear his golden crest of holly proudly! As long as we are in Dremoria, he says we are welcome. We have with us an Elven death-mask and we are to return it's spirit to the Lands of Rest." He kneels down, his head low and leaving his neck exposed. Now, he had to hope.

Two fingers lay on Jurgen's hand, while his eyes twitch softly. He begins to recite the first fews words of Flaming Sphere. It may not be needed, but he gained a sense of comfort in having the power right there. Begging for him to use it.

Peerimus and Yorrick  d20=10 d20=2
Monday May 12th, 2003 9:39:46 AM

"ah that is what the marks are. A very ingenious method, though in this case I am not sure I like the implications. We walk further into the enemies lair and it would now appear an elven village lies within it."

Peerimus follows up and walks with Sly occassionally asking questions on the elven people in general. Until recently he had never seen any other race but his own let alone travelled with them and now here he was with an elf, a half elf and a dwarf. 'Pines would truly be jealous.' he thought.

The arrows impact the earth just in front of the groups lead. Being too far back, the young druid has no indication of where they came from and taking Sly's advise and laying a restraining hand on Yorrick the bear drowns out any other slight noises the opponents may be making in the nearby wood.

As Trace informs of teh surrounding movement Peerimus will turn to the left flank with Yorrick.
"Sly I have left, watch the right. Elves or no I will teach them quickly the dangers of attacking a druid in the wood if they do."
He says softly over his shoulder to his friend.

Savin  d20+8=20 d20+10=22
Monday May 12th, 2003 11:31:19 PM

Savin, leading the group, sees some branches move just before the impact of the arrows. (spot check 20 successful) He also hears the more movement in the brush though it is faint. Savin will listen to his companions' reactions and when Jurgen speaks, he will show his pin that the elf king gave to each member of the group. He is also ready to spring away if any arrows come in his direction.

Ilsidur
Monday May 12th, 2003 11:55:50 PM

Ilsidur frowns as the arrows thud into the ground in front of the party. "Outlanders indeed," he thinks to himself. "I wonder who belongs to those arrows? It seems that Trace and Jurgen have the conversation well in hand."

He leans over to Sir Thomas and whispers, "Young sir, depending on how this discussion takes place, I suggest you keep your detect evil ability at the ready. Although they may seem friendly, these arrow throwers may not actually be so nice."

Greetings (DM Stephen)  d100=90 d6=2 d100=31 d6=6
Tuesday May 13th, 2003 1:10:00 AM

Savin and Trace spot the archer up in the trees. His head then hides back behind a branch.

"King Farnolis..." yells out one of the archers?! Another one yells out from another location closer to the ground, "Yes, I see they wear his mark." The commanding elf you heard first then responds, "Careful with those weapons outlanders ... we are coming out ... no sudden moves."

Two or so dozen elven archers come out of the forest. Their hiding places were masterful. There silence and skill of blending with the forest is almost unnerving. The one Savin and Trace spotted floats down to the ground, softly like a feather. He is dressed different from the others. His bow is covered in arcane runes. He wears a light robe with similar runes embroidered on its trim. On the way down, you can tell he has studied each of you very carefully, fully aware of what you might be capable of.

"So you bare the mark of King Farnolis. Quite an honorable possession. The way things have been developing for the past 80 years, we cant be too careful with visitors who wish to visit our cursed village." The elf turns to his troop and in elven tells them to lower their guard and show proper respect. The other archers obey. "I beg your forgiveness for such a greeting. The evil that roams these woods have almost extinguished our hospitality." He reaches out an open hand and the three arrows fly up from the ground and back into his hand. "You speak of a death mask, then the prophecies are true. We must hurry back to Burnt Eldor. There are several who been waiting a long time to meet you." He shouts out more commands and several archers take up their positions, on guard hidden in the woods.

The elf is quick to turn and lead you to Burnt Eldor. Its hard to tell, you only just met him, but his attitude seems to have become more upbeat. Like a wave of optimism just rolled over himself and the other elves.

Jurgen [Koboldian] and Vus [Blink]
Tuesday May 13th, 2003 2:14:41 AM

Jurgen's mouth twitches to a brief smile, as he raises himself up. The elves didn't trust their group. That much was obvious. No reason for distrust was given, yet still it happened. What a sad state of affairs the Wold was in, when such heroes had to stand with a bow to their heads and give these complete strangers a chance to shoot. "Sigh..." The Noble Races just weren't as noble as they had been made.

At the comment of being careful with weapons, he turns to Savin and raises his eyebrows, with a grin. "What about those of us whose weapons are a part of us. Without sudden moves, I'm sure we could get them." He laughes faintly, to show that he is joking and not hinting at anything. Truth was, he respected Savin's skill with both his body and mind. He was in tune with the two enough to be a fighting force, by himself.

"As you wish. But we are not fate's puppets. I control my own destiny. What people commonly call fate is mostly their own stupidity." He rolls his eyes at the very thought. To be a useless tool in some greater power's chess game was not Jurgen's life. He was no pawn! His life was his own. Destiny wass no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice: it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved. These people had waited for heroes instead of become heroes themselves. That was the way of the Wold. That was why people like Sir Thomas stood up. To fight for those who wouldn't. "Regardless, let us not keep them waiting another 80 years."

Jurgen admires the bow and the man's robes. Both told wonders of his skills. In fact, the sorcerer believed he knew something of them. "You are one of the legendary Masters of the Mystical Bow, are you not? Although I believe they are known as another name. Arcane Archer, or the like. I have only heard stories of you... Every arrow to let fly is both accurate and deadly. You have found how to infuse the great magics of the Wold into your weapon." He rubs the tips of his fingers, feeling the magic right there. Ready to be flung. "But do you train further in the arcane arts? That would be the greatest cost, I could see being paid. Letting the magic that flows through your blood just lay there. Untapped and meaningless."

Trace and Radiant  d20+10=16 d20+10=27
Tuesday May 13th, 2003 2:15:05 AM

Trace pats Radiant on his head as he looks back to the others. He simply shrugs his sholders and begins to follow the flying elf. Trace continues to look around the are just in case (spot 16 wilderness lore 27). As he walks along he checks his tatoo to see if anything has changed. In the past the tatoo sometimes changes shades with diffrent situations. He is not sure if it is a refelction of him or his surroundings.

Sly Foxx and Luke
Tuesday May 13th, 2003 7:30:57 AM

Sly smiles then telling Peerimus "It' the local Elves, The one who came floting down is a Master of the Mystical Bow. We will be led to the village to meet with their leader, just be your self and let Yurric roam. We'll be alright, They already know everything important about us anyway."

Sly get up, lets go of Luke, raising his tattoo hand and bows. Sly will follow the rest of the party, but he will also keep an eye on Jurgen *that boy can get into more trouble.* he tells himself.

Sir Thomas { Ceil }
Tuesday May 13th, 2003 7:48:43 AM

"Yes, Friend Ilsidur, I was thinking just that very thing, although Trace and Sly Don't seem to be borthered to much, even these elves attitude a has changed. Don't you think?"

All the time he peting his horse, keeping an eye on the elves and flashing his famemus smile of his.

Shiraz
Tuesday May 13th, 2003 12:46:24 PM

Shiraz follows the party down the direction the arrowhead indicates, stoping suddenly when the arrows come whistling out of the wilderness. Have drawing his weapons as he hears Trace call out the group comes in peace the huge minotaur slides slowly backwards towards Jurgen knowing if there is going to be trouble it is as likely to come from the boy as those who stand on the wild around them. Shiraz resists the inpulse to backhand Jurgen out of his saddle as the young sorcerer begins his grumblings about the state of the wold. "What does a pup like you know of the state of the wold? Hmmm young boy, you had best mind your manners and your elders. I have had enough of your impudence, either you act accordingly or I will end up having to act as a parent rather than a companion and teach you thanose manners." Shiraz says the last softly so only Jurgen may hear.

Peerimus and Yorrick  d20=1 d20=3
Tuesday May 13th, 2003 1:25:46 PM

Peerimus gives a short nod to Sly, but can not easily hide his upset state. Giving Yorrick a rough scratch to the ear and back of his head he follows the elf.

AS he follows Peerimus talks to Yorrick as he often does. 'Is everyone like this I wonder. Humans at the city gates, the elves on the mystic road, these here now. Seems everywhere I have travelled I have started off on the recieving end of violence. Sly said they knew all the important things about us, but if they did why start the conversation with weapons fire. Oh I know things quickly were sorted out. Yes, I know you are right. I just think a hello would have worked better. I'm sure explanation will be given.'

The movement of Shiraz to Jurgen stops Peerimus's soft chatting to Yorrick for a moment.
'Wonder what that was about?'

Peerimus falls silent and begins snacking on some berries in his pouch. Alternating between giving himself some and Yorrick some while looking about and taking in teh beauty of the wood.

Savin
Tuesday May 13th, 2003 5:52:51 PM

Savin will follow the elves wondering what is instore for them next.

Ilsidur
Tuesday May 13th, 2003 11:47:08 PM

Ilsidur shakes his head at the volatility of elves, young mages, minotaurs, and the Wold in general. "Next time, we are definitely taking the dwarven road," he thinks to himself.

Rage mage!! (DM Stephen)  d100=26 d6=6 bad roll.
Wednesday May 14th, 2003 2:53:08 AM

The elven archer with the runed bow stops in his tracks after Jurgen opens his koboldian mouth. The air seems to sizzle with energy of the rage that begins to boil within the mage. The light around him slightly dims as the shadows in the folds of his robe look to turn darker. In fact, his hair and clothing become more animated in the breeze, giving off a rather sinister appearance.

He turns to face the young sorcerer. Everyone can tell he strains to hold back his rage caused by the words of Jurgen. "You .. are addressing an Arcane Archer and Archmage of Burnt Eldor ... Alstan Moonbrook. It is my charge to protect the citizens and the sacred tree of Burnt Eldor from the growing evil that permeates through our woods. It has been my charge FOR OVER 400 YEARS AND I DONT NEED TO BE TALKED TO IN SUCH A WAY BY A CHILD!!"

Alstan pauses to calm himself. The other elves look almost shocked at his outburst. It is evident in the expressions of the others that this is not the kind of response any of them have witnessed very often. "Would you have us just lay down and let the evil overrun us? Just let anyone walk in and out of our village with all the death we have experienced over the past century! Did we not accept you once we determined that you werent threat."

Alstan holds up his hand to show a ring on his finger. "See this ring, it is the mark of my family." He then pulls out a necklace from under his robes and shows it to the party. The necklace is a thin silver chain holding 2 to 3 dozen rings of various sizes. They all appear to be rings like the one on his hand. "See this ... this is what remains of my family. Here is my father, my mother, sister and brothers, aunts and uncles ... most are here ... those we could find!!! Many of these were slain by the evil that infects these woods. Many turned into the spawn that killed them. How would you feel if you had to stare into the face of your own mother and be forced to fill her body with your arrows?!! IN FACT ... WHY DONT YOU WEAR MY NECKLACE SO YOU CAN FEEL THE WEIGHT OF THE BURDEN MY SHOULDERS MUST BEAR!!! We wait not for heros. Many heros of our village have already died trying to defeat this evil and locate the mask. Even though our witch spoke the prophecy that outsiders would find the mask in the mouth of Hell and bring it to us, that never stopped us in our tireless search. Now that our numbers have dwindle so ... all we can do now is try and protect the sacred tree of our village and hold off the evil as long as we can. My sole responsibility now is to keep my village alive as long as I can. SO DONT LECTURE ME CHILD ABOUT OUR WAYS!!! THIS IS NO PLACE FOR HURT FEELINGS AND WOUNDED PRIDE BECAUSE WE DIDNT GREET YOU WITH HUGS AND KISSES."

A single tear begins to stream down his cheek. Alstan quickly turns back around, wipes his face and continues back toward the village. "Please ... um follow me quickly." It is evident that the stress and pressure is getting to him. He has the presence of having great power, but looks drained of energy and spirit. The elation he felt is replaced with anger and extreme sorrow.

Savin feels a stiring within the mask, but nothing urgent. More like an awakening. Another thing is strange. After the arcane archers long speech, you seem to recognize his voice now. Like a long long lost friend.

(party's initiative)

Savin
Wednesday May 14th, 2003 6:44:32 AM

Savin steps forward and says, "Sir, a moment of your time. My friend can be rash and ill spoken but he is of true heart and will lay down his life for his comrades. I have witnessed this with my own eyes. No one wants to question your loyalty and courage. It just seems that though we only have the purest of thoughts in our heads and hearts, we are often greeted with suspision from those we strive to help.

Savin pulls out the death mask. He kneels and says, "I believe Sayra wishes to speak with you. I must lend her my body to do this. Please be brief. I find the possession uncomfortable." Savin will then place the mask over his face and let Sayra take control.

Sly Foxx and Luke
Wednesday May 14th, 2003 7:34:41 AM

Sly walks up to Jurgen and whispers into his ear, *Little Brother, take that belt we found in the treasure chest OFF. It does not become you, your acting very ODD almost insane.*

Sly will take hold of Jerden elbow and jerk him around, Looking into his eyes, Sly ask again, "Please take the belt off, I've seen you change ever so slowly and I want my friend back."

Sir Thomas
Wednesday May 14th, 2003 7:42:14 AM

Sir Thomas will follows Savin and the other elves, But first he'll turn halfway around in the saddle and point to Jurgen. Speaking softly "I want to have a long talk with you Son!" And this is the first time Sir Thomas has very hard eyes and knitted eyebrows, out side a fight.

Shiraz
Wednesday May 14th, 2003 8:59:05 AM

Shiraz doesnt bat an eye at the elven mages outburst in fact there seems to be a slight smile on his face as the elf justly vents his anger and sorrow onto Jurgen,"Maybe now you will learn not to be so rash young one. Hold your tongue for a while so he and his kith may regain their composure or as Imod is my witness I shall let him have you!" Shiraz says the last with a strong note of finality. Walking away from the sorcerer Shiraz shakes his head.

Peerimus and Yorrick
Wednesday May 14th, 2003 5:50:34 PM

Peerimus is taken back by the seemingly sudden and unjustified outburst of the elf towards Jurgen. Motioning to Yorrick not to tear the mans arms off Peerimus quietly waits and observes the others' reactions.
Perhaps elves are more emotional then he originally believed of the stoic race. Perhaps it is as the archer said the stress and burden of time and the situation has worn the man down. Still it is not an excuse to berate the young man so, thinks the druid and to call him child seems an overly aggressive postition.

Peerimus moves with the group and makes his way to Jurgen and as he passes places a hand on his shoulder saying "They are wrong Jurgen." and keeps moving by the young arcane weilder.

Ilsidur
Wednesday May 14th, 2003 10:41:17 PM

Ilsidur waits to see the outcome of Savin donning the mask. Never having heard of Arcane Archers and Archmages of Burnt Eldor, the dwarf is not terribly impressed. After defeating the might of a huge dragon, and seeing the form of an even larger one, it will take more than an elf in a cloak with a bow to awe him. But he feels for the elf as he describes his family situation. He waits to hear exactly what is going on in this section of the forest.

Trace and Radiant
Thursday May 15th, 2003 2:07:27 AM

Trace only sighs at the retoric beging thrown this way and that, too much drama for one day. Trace notices the druid reassuring Jurgen and leans in to give Peerimus word or two, "You have a good heart and a good soul and it shows when you back Jergen. On the other hand, dont stoke the fire that is in him right now. It is only hindering our movement to our present goal. But him feeling agrivated at the constant missturst from people we are trying to help, I agree with yall. Although when you get older you learn to see the situation thorugh other peoples eyes and hold your tounge when it serves no purpose and only agrivates the situation. What I am trying to say is, It is normal to have certain feelings but there comes a time to keep your mouth shut no matter what.

Trace stands and wait to see what the mask has to say on their current situation.

Advice from the Son! (DM Stephen)  d100=79 d6=3 d100=33 d6=2
Thursday May 15th, 2003 12:49:03 PM

Savin puts on the mask. Sayra does not come. You feel she is not yet ready, emotionally, but will soon be able.

The mage continues back to the village at a quick steady pace. He doesnt look back or wait for you.

An elven male steps forward while the others return to their posts. His dress isnt much different from the other archers but he appears to be a higher rank. He has long flowing dark hair. You can barely see his pointed ears poke through. He has a calm, yet serious, demeanor about him.

"Hello, my name is Savinollis Moonbrook. You probably already guessed by my resemblance that Alstan is my father. I have never met humans before and I like to give you the benefit of the doubt. I am unaccustomed to your ways. I have to stand by what my father said. The comments said by that one (pointing to Jurgen) were unexcusable by our standards. However, I dont approve of my father's outburst either. Such an emotional response in public is not civilized behavior and shameful. I fear, as well as other do, that my father may be going mad. Do not get me wrong. He is a brilliant man and a great wizard. He has protected our village for a great many years. However, lately he's been at his wits end. He has a brilliant intellect. So great that he never forgets a single thing. Its also his curse. He remembers a time when our condition wasnt so dire and happiness and prosperity abounded. I am fortunate to be young and not remember such a time. I know not of what Ive been deprived."

His eyes widen when he sees the mask. Pure amazement fills his face when Savin puts on the mask. "By the gods, has the spirit picked you to be the Living Receiver? Astounding!! I never imagined the mask would be so beautiful."

"Again I would like to reiterate, we here in Burnt Eldor take great insult when you question our intelligence, our way of life and insinuate we are incompetent at taking care of ourselves. Especially with the use of such vulgarity, like the word stupidity and all its forms. This may be common terms for your kind, but here it is a great insult."

"Also reframe from inciting further outbursts from my father. Treat him with the respect he deserves and bring no more shame upon him. Follow me, I shall take into Burnt Eldor myself."

Savinollis motions for you to follow and he will lead you into Burnt Eldor, if you choose to go.

Peerimus and Yorrick
Thursday May 15th, 2003 1:37:59 PM

Peerimus listens carefully to not only what Savinollis said but Trace as well. To Savinollis's words he merely nods his head and waits to follow the man.
To Trace, "Sometimes all one needs to calm down is to know friends stand by you. That is what I did. Shiraz and Sir Thomas could use to hear your words or Jurgen himself far more than I."
Peerimus motions that Yorrick go with Luke and follow the elves and sees if thier is more discussion forthcoming.

Thursday May 15th, 2003 11:10:21 PM

Savin is surprised that Sayra doesn't come but doesn't want to force her either. When he hears the comments from the younger elf, he will respond from under the mask, "Yes for some reason Sayra has chosen me as host. I hope I am worthy of the task. I want to set her free. I also want to help your people. I am curious why you haven't asked for help before this.
Why have you taking the burden of fighting this evil upon yourselves alone. There are many other good people who would have joined you in your fight, I am sure."

Jurgen and Vus
Friday May 16th, 2003 2:02:35 AM

At both the outburst of the Arcane Archer and that of his friends, with the exception of the newest to the group, Peerimus, Jurgen turns his head away and resists the urge to speak. He pulls off his belt that, as Sly believed, was driving him to insanity. We all go a little crazy sometimes, it keeps us from losing it completely.

He continues with the group and smiles at Peerimus. A nod of his head is all that he needs to tell this friend.

Finally, when he has a chance to speak he so. Returned to his normal voice and a calmness in his veins. "Standing as a hero, as I have learned, is both a virtue and a poison. For in one hand I hold the hopes and lives of all, but as it is, I also hold the ability to let it be. In the alchemy of man's soul almost all noble attributes- courage, honor, love, hope, faith, duty, loyalty, and such can be transmuted into ruthlessness. Compassion alone stands apart from the continuous traffic between good and evil proceeding within us. Compassion is the antitoxin of the soul: where there is compassion, even the most poisonous impulses remain relatively harmless." He rubs his eyes, as if to remove some bit of dirt or dust that is plaguing him. "I am young and as my," he resists another urge to scoff. He may not have been right in their eyes, but he was in his own. The true tragedy was in what they were teaching. They were telling him not to doubt. That was the most disappointing thing. "friends have said, new to this world. My words are ment not to harm, but to be a voice. I am like a fire. I burn and continue to do so, as long as there is fuel. But keep the fuel too close, and I will burst into a brilliant blaze. This is my greatest flaw. I apoligize for it. If you wish, I can go elsewhere until you have concluded with the group." He nods his head downward and lets Savinollis choose.

Trace and Radiant  d20+10=12
Friday May 16th, 2003 2:53:41 AM

Trace puts his arm around Jurgen. "Brother, you stay with us. You have fought with us and died for us. We only scold to help you grow and understand when to vent. Your efforts in the past holds stong with me and you will allways come before anyone outside this group. You shall stay with the group because we are not a group if we split. Now what was said is done and everyone has said their peace, even me. Lets move on and try to bring chaos to the evil that pleagues this land."

Trace seems to have a bit of spring in his step. An allmost giddy feeling, even though this land is haunted by evil and seem to find mistrust at every corner, it has been ages since he has been in an elven village or even been around this many of his brothers in ages. Even before coming to this cursed land. Trace like the company of his human brothers as well as dwarfs and so on but to be around his own kind seems to do the body and mind good.

Entering Burnt Eldor (DM Stephen)
Friday May 16th, 2003 2:58:16 AM

Savinollis speaks to Jurgen, "A flame is a beautiful and necessary element. It sheds light in the darkness, it provides warmth in times when it's cold, it purifies by comsuming imperfections. However many become seduced by its dance and it can be a destructive force. You are welcome in Burnt Eldor as long as you can control your fire. You will learn the elves can be a very understanding people. I only ask that you respect our ways."

"Yes, lets go... Burnt Eldor is not far. We can talk along the way. However, keep an eye out. Even during the day there are dangers present. A strange sort of vampric plant creatures can roam the day. They are practically indistinguishable from the other plant life. Of course, until they leap out from their cover and attempt to make you their meal! We have named them Twig Blights. I know not what spawns them, however the council might be able to enlighten you."

"To anwser your (Savin's) question. Many have tried to help. However few return. Most have become mad from what they experienced. Those who can articulate what they witnessed saw horrors unimaginable. They talk of the very forest striking out at them. And now the Elven Trails refuse to come our way because of the danger that is present. That alone is enough to deter most from coming here. The last expedition to leave Burnt Eldor was to take the young, elderly and anyone wishing to leave to a neighboring village outside of the danger."

You all pass by strange carved stone pillars with runes carved into them. You feel the slight electrical charge coming off them. Its easy to realize they are magical wards.

Within the magical barriers, the woods still look the way they should. Its a stark difference from what you have seen over the past few days. Nature is beautiful again, no longer dulled or muted. Colors are vibrant and lively. You all realize this is how the forest is meant to look.

The trees are majestic and tower above. Many are ancient and their trunks are great and wide. Everything is a wonder to behold. Then you come to a great massive tree whose appearance is very dark, almost black. It is the greatest of them all. It towers higher than anything you have ever seen. It is extremely thick. Its shear size is unimaginable. You have never seen a tree so huge. You realize that this tree must be the oldest Darkwood tree, or any tree, that still exists. You easily understand why this tree is sacred to the locals.

Looking up the towering trees it is easy to become dizzy from their size. You seem so tiny in comparison. You also see structures and people walking among the branches ... yes the village is up above the ground atop the trees themselves. You wouldnt have noticed the village if you didnt know where to look. The elven-made structures blend in with the normal foliage.

Sly Foxx and Luke
Friday May 16th, 2003 7:14:11 AM

Sly puts his arm around Jurgen shoulders, "When I call you Brother, I mean it. Your like a brother to me. Look I'm not much older than you and I'm trying to control my magic too. Put the Belt in your pack, when you feel you can control the power, put it on." Then lets jurden go.

When Sly passes through the magic barrier. Sly is so taken with the view, that he hardly hears the warnings of Savinollis about other parties that come and gone. All his eyes are on the beautiful trees but the giant one just takes his breath away.

Sir Thomas (Ceil)
Friday May 16th, 2003 7:33:03 AM

Sir Thomas rides along, listening to the young elf, very intrested. When bothe paladin and horse passes through the magical Stone Pillars, he feels a little electric charge, suprising him but no harm come to them.
Once in side the view is beautiful, noe Sir Thomas understands the pasion of the Elder Elf. They come to the Sacred Tree and as Tom look up into this most beautiful Tree, he can swear he can see some elves in there??.

Peerimus and Yorrick
Friday May 16th, 2003 1:35:06 PM

A vast change comes over Peerimus as he moves from through the pillars into the lush wood of Burnt Eldor. His step lightens, his eyes sparkle and heart leaps at the glorious sight before him. An ancient Darkwood of such size and majesty. All other distractions fade as the druid basks in the sheer volume of splendid life that is about him. Shortly before the tree he spreads his arms wide and throws his head back, take long deep breaths. Looking farther and further up into the tree and bright sky he falls over backwards onto the ground with a starteled cry that quickly turns to almost giddy laughter.
"I have only dared imagine til now that I would ever be blessed enough to see such a place and stand before Her in all Her majesty."
Yorrick seems to fully sense it as well and moves to butt his head into Peerimus and gives a short bass filled growl of approval. He then sits upon his haunches. The bear looks up the tree and growls once again.
"Yes my friend I do think we shall."
Peerimus props himself upon his elbows and throws a couple berries in his mouth as he continues to look about grinning ear to ear.

Jurgen and Vus
Saturday May 17th, 2003 2:30:08 AM

"Rarely do great beauty and great virtue dwell together. Yet here, in the great halls of trees, where no beast dare raise arm against those who live in peace, they seem to bind it together. The great pleasure I gain from watching these massive forms of nature is only bested by the feeling of safety I recieve while standing in these magical walls." He takes time to touch the grass below his covered feet. To breath in the fresh air. It was amazing to stand here. All your troubles melting away, into the infinite treasury of the forest. Life was good here...

But still, beyond the wards of protection there did dwell beasts that would crush this place and all who lived in it, had someone given them the chance. That would not be allowed. Could not be. "As long as I can stand, with my head upon these shoulders and my mind within that head, no evil shall befall this town again. The tortured land will be freed and I, like a fire, will exaust myself if I must to do so."

Shiraz
Sunday May 18th, 2003 8:40:53 AM

Shiraz can only shake his head at teh actions of Jurgen, puzzled by the young sorcerer's fits of rage and anger that quickly change to understanding and compassion. "What my dam and sire would have done to me..." the rest gets lost in the stillness of the woods as the party and elves walk towards Burnt Eldor. Shiraz turns and looks behind the party as they approach the pillars, the electric charge startles the taur and a cut off oath is heard from his direction. "Sorry," the redfaced taur mumbles.

Sir Thomas (Clay)
Sunday May 18th, 2003 11:44:09 PM

[OOC: Thanks again Ceil. You're a sweetheart.]

After passing through the magically warded stone gates, Thomas askes, "Does the warding magic prevent entry of the vampiric plants? Are there other evils that plague this land? Does the warding keep them out?"

"This is truely a beautiful place. Much prettier than the lands from which I normally travel. I hope we can help to keep it this way."

Trace and Radiant
Monday May 19th, 2003 2:06:56 AM

Trace sits ontop of Shadow and waits for the others to make there way in to the area. He takes his time at looking at the surrounding area and rembers how his own people liked to live in the safty of the trees.

"Do yall think the the mgaic of the warding stones could be cast upon items that you could carry? Maybe a shield for our group."

Ilsidur
Monday May 19th, 2003 11:04:11 PM

Ilsidur looks around at the elven tree village, and shakes his head a little. Why anyone would want to live so out of touch with the earth was beyond him. Although it was beautiful, in its own way. "Oh well," he says under his breath, "Another trip into the sky. I sure hope these elves won't take offence when I ask to sleep on the ground."

Savin
Monday May 19th, 2003 11:33:03 PM

Savin keeps the deathmask on until he passes through the pillars. He murmers, "Sayra, I know you made a huge sacrifice in helping us battle the wolves. Look at what we are fighting for. Take heart in you helping in the struggle to preserve this." Savin will give the dryad a chance to respond and then take the mask off and put it away.

He will to Savinollis, "I am in awe of this beautiful home that you have. It and its people are worth fighting for. We shall try to help you."

The monk will take a few more steps and add, "It is interesting what you said about the forest coming to life to fight you. We had a similiar experience recently." Savin will go on to explain about the battle with the woods and how Sayra was able to summon help from the trees in the forest.

"We also experienced another interesting creature that came to our aid. "When the magic of the ferrets threatened to overwhelm us, a magical ghostly stag appeared and was able to dispel the magic around us. He glowed green and had an impressive display of antlers. He helped us and then just faded away. Do you know who or what that was?"

Welcome to Burnt Eldor (DM Stephen)  d100=59 d6=2 d100=80 d6=5
Tuesday May 20th, 2003 12:02:42 AM

Savinollis answers Sir Thomas. "Yes the barrier repels evil. It has been rather successful all this time keeping the vile creatures of the night away. However, with the encroaching of more and more evil, the barrier's magic is becoming stress. We are currently looking for ways to fortify the barrier with more magic."

Savinollis stops next to a large tree that stands beside the great darkwood. The tree is hollow, but its not dead. There appears to be a spiraling stairway going up inside the hollow. The very steps you walk upon are alive. "Your animals friends must stay below on the ground. Its not that they arent welcome, its been our experience that animals dont particularly care for being up so high. They tend to panic and endanger the citizens. They are quite safe down here and fresh grass and other food and water will be provided."

When you make it to the top ... it is very high. Its easy to experience a little vertigo if you down stare off the edge. The town has everything you'd expect a town to have. Taverns, shops, library, temples and homes. All structures built onto the tree seem to blend in with it.

You follow the young elf and you all come to a large covered balcony. Many other elves are present. Several look to be town elders and they wear white ropes. Alstan is present and he whispers to a beautiful female elf wearing silvery robes. Her hair is elaborately made up and she wears a garland of holly.

A darker figure stands next to her. He looks to be a ranger. He has two master quality swords and an elegant composite bow. His armor is black leather that blends with his black robes. You see the presence of a holy symbol of Gargul sewn into his clothing and hanging from a chain around his neck. His frame is very thin and his skin is pale. Cold dark eyelids containing expressionless eyes watch you as you approach. He appears almost sickly looking but he stands there like a perfect example of health and vigor.

Alstan continues to speak to both and when he spots you coming, he quickly exits through a door.

Savinollis speaks up, "Everyone, I bring to you the Keepers of the Mask." Everyone turns and looks your way. Most remain expressionless. However the woman, smiles slightly. A smile that almost stuns you ... she is so beautiful!

(party's initiative)

Sayra (DM Stephen)
Tuesday May 20th, 2003 12:09:02 AM

Savin feels that she is listening and he knows she is beginning to stir about. When you mention the glowing stag ... you almost feel her shutter. "You saw a glowing stag ... a ghost-like figure in animal form? By the gods ...," she mutters, "My crime has awakened the spirits!!"

Sir Thomas  d20=20
Tuesday May 20th, 2003 1:05:30 AM

Thomas returns the expressionless face of the elven population with a stoicness of his own. He remains silent, but mostly because he does not want to offend anyone. Thomas searches the crowd as they pass toward the beautiful elf, but mostly, his attention is on the dark ranger. [Rolled 20 + 2 = 22 PERFECT ROLL!! I should go away more often!] Thomas' intent is to try to divulge as much information about the social habits of the people as possible.

Before the group comes to a stop, Thomas concentrates on the ranger and tries to discern if he possess any evil intentions. (Detect Evil)

Trace and Radiant
Tuesday May 20th, 2003 2:30:56 AM

Radiant flaps his great wings to balance as Trace moves him to his hand and steps up in front of the group next to Savin. He looks to the elves and sees the ranger and sizes him up as one of the same skills.

Trace speaks up first. "I am Trace of New Ellana, a distant land to the North. Me and my brothers have traveled this land defendind the needy from the evil that plagues this land. We defeated a red dragon named Tumlut and we found a mask. The mask has led us here and we have sworn to help in it's request to be freed." Trace pats Savin on his back and makes a bow keeping his eyes on the group, even more so on the Ranger while stepping back with Sir Thomas.

Sly Foxx and Luke
Tuesday May 20th, 2003 7:06:23 AM

Sly steps forward and Luke sits by his side. "It is good to be back home again. I was raised not too far from here, a small village that has disapered." Sly has a lost look in his eyes. "The village was north-east of here. But we are here now, to help as much as we can." Start to turn, then as an after though adds "I'm Sly Foxx, son of Red Foxx who died defending the village, my mother was White Foxx a full wood elf, she disapered along with my sister Ruby." Sly hang his head low and retuns behind Sir Thomas.

Luke follows and sits next to Sly's side.

Peerimus and Yorrick
Tuesday May 20th, 2003 1:01:40 PM

As the elf explains that perhaps it would be best if the animals did not ascend Peerimus's smile fades and his brow furrows. 'Tend to panic indeed.' he thinks.
Peerimus gets up and pats Yorrick and casts a spell (Speak with Animals) and tells Yorrick,
"I'm afraid the elves do not quite understand but after our first misunderstanding we should follow thier wishes and not debate them. There are plenty of places to sun and here is some meat and berries."
Turning to look at Luke, the druid smiles, then dropping to a knee by the dog, "I suppose your coming whether anyone says so or not."
Walking through the village Peerimus looks about in wonder and appreciation for the care given to the tree by the elves in the construction of thier homes.
After trhe introduction by Savinollis, Peerimus clasps his hands and gives a short nod. The others are more gifted then he at speaking. 'Observance of others and listening to ones heart.' He remembers the words of his Mentor. He would have loved this place, but then again as he was now the sun upon the land, the wind upon the trees and the oceans roar he is here. Peerimus snaps himself away from his musings. Important information is surely about to be imparted by the elves and he may have questions for them.

Shiraz
Tuesday May 20th, 2003 2:26:56 PM

Shiraz walks out of the stairwell and his breath catches in is chest. The majestic splendor of the tree top town amazes him as much as it surprised him to be here. "I am Shiraz the minotaur, come here from across the seas and companion to this party."

Savin
Tuesday May 20th, 2003 9:56:33 PM

Savin steps forward and bows to the Lady and the Ranger. "I am Savin. I have been blessed with the responsibility of keeping your deathmask. It currently houses a dryad named Sayra. She tells me that her spirit was thrown out of her tree and it is at the root of this spreading evil. We know that a vampire is part of this but is just the henchman of a greater evil."

Jurgen and Vus
Tuesday May 20th, 2003 9:58:21 PM

At Savinollis' request, Jurgen kneels down to Vus and whispers softly to his canine companion, in their own language. He needed a break anyway. That last fight against the wolves was probably hard for him. They may not have been the same creatures, but they were related.

"Vus... Go for now. The elves request that you not come up, we'll find out why. But have fun. Run around a bit. It's a very beautiful part of the forest." He rubs his friend behind the ears and then gets up. It was time to go up this wonderous tree. Definately an interesting trip, regardless of whether Vus could join him.

As they climb higher, Jurgen tries to avoid looking down. He had been a miner. He liked closed spaces. To be "trapped" in a cave, with no light except for that which you make. Up here, you could fall to your doom. And you'd have to think about it all the way down. Well... Not Jurgen. The ring that he had on his finger- He quickly grabbed at his hand, trying to feel for it. He took a deep breath as the cold metal ran through his joints. He was safe. Even if he fell, he wouldn't fall to his death.

"The Keepers of the Mask? Well then. I am Jurgen Sturmjager, Magus and bringer of good. We make up the group known as the Children of Chaos." With that, he returns the woman's smile and watches the surroundings a bit nervously.

Ilsidur
Tuesday May 20th, 2003 11:02:06 PM

Ilsidur steps forward and introduces himself in his turn, "And I am named Ilsidur Wayfinder, a cleric of the good gods of the Wold. As my friends have said, we are here at the urging of the lady of the mask, and we are here to help in any way that we can. We have been waiting for someone to tell us what they know, and I hope that you will be able to fill us in."

DM Stephen
Friday May 23rd, 2003 1:59:41 AM

(Thanks for everyones patience. Been dealing with a really bad case of food poisoning since Monday. Been preoccupied!! Dont eat "Deli Express Sandwiches" sold at gas stations!! Oh boy!! A DM post will follow.)

Alassë Eärfalas (DM Stephen)  d100=81 d6=2 d20=11 d20=13
Friday May 23rd, 2003 4:04:04 AM

Back track: Savinollis turns to Peerimus before they climb the stairs. "Peerimus, no need to worry. We elves have no prejudices toward your animal friends. Its just been our experience that most animals prefer to keep their feet firmly planted on the ground. Animals in the past have become frightened at such heights, paniced and caused injury to themselves and others. We only wish to make their stay here as comfortable as possible. In case of an emergency we can bring them up to a safe place. The stairs however would be a difficult climb for the horses. We have other ways of getting them up here."
----------------------
Sir Thomas keenly observes that everyone is focused on Savin and his mask. Some have the slight flushed expression of shock and amazement to be actually looking upon the item that they started to disbelieve from ever existing. Others who have "kept the faith" finally feel vindicated for keeping their hope alive. However all these expressions are very hard to notice through their stoic facades.

Sir Thomas concentrates his divination abilities upon the "dark ranger." Thomas detects no evil from anyone in the area. However the ranger seems aware of you and your party. He switches his gaze upon you as your eyes concentrate on him. You can tell he may suspect that you're a paladin and what your capable of doing. A very very slight sly smile curls up from one corner of his mouth, but it was only for a second.

After everyone greets the woman, the dark ranger and everyone present, the beautiful elven woman steps foward and greets you all as well.

"Greetings adventurers ... We are so glad to finally make your acquantance: Sir Thomas, Trace, Sly, Ilsidur, Jurgen, Shiraz, Peerimus and Savin." She addresses each one of you by name. With the utterance of your name, you feel a warmth fill your bodies. "Of course, lets not forget Sayra. Long lost friend of Burnt Eldor, Guardian of the Darkwood Groves and faithful druid of the Immortal Fey Ring of Deep Londo. It is so wonderful for you all to be here. My name is Alassë Eärfalas, head of the elders council and resident witch of Burnt Eldor."

She motions to the dark ranger to her left. "This is Caelmus. He too is a visitor to Burnt Eldor like yourselves. He has come to help in our time of need. Caelmus is not only a talented ranger but also a priest of Gargul. However, most prestigously, he is known as an Undead Hunter. His knowledge of those foul creatures has been most valuable. He has also destroyed many in the service of Burnt Eldor." Caelmus turns to face Alassë and gives her a slight bow.

After introducing each of the council members she continues to talk to the party. "Ahh Trace, you defeated a mighty dragon to save the mask. You all are surely noble souls." She seem truely impressed.

"Sly, you are from around here!? Really ... which village are you from? I would like to welcome you home. If your village no longer exists, then feel free to call Burnt Eldor your new home. There are no homeless amongst the elves."

"Shiraz, you are the first minotaur any of us have ever met. Your size and strength is most impressive, not to mention so well spoken. Taurs are ones who truely deserve the respect and honor of the elves ... welcome again to Burnt Eldor."

"Hello Savin. So you have the honor of being the Living Receiver for Sayra. I was thinking that the honor would be bestowed to me, but she has made her decision. I am sure she chose wisely. Much has happened since she was stolen from the Soulseekers by Tumult. There is much to discuss. For our only hope of saving Burnt Eldor and ourselves is now directly depends on the release of Sayra. We have much information to give thanks to the sacrifice of many brave souls, and of course, Caelmus here. May I see the mask?"

"Jurgen, that is a fascinating name you call yourselves ... the Children of Chaos. Hmm ...what makes you all so chaotic?"

Turning to the dwarf Ilsidur, Alasse forms a very warm smile. "Yes, my dear Ilsidur. Im so glad we have the Gods of Wold on our side. Ive always adored the directness of the dwarves and I see you have not been deprived of that wonderful characteristic. Yes, we have much to discuss." Turning to servants posted at a door. Alasse claps her hands. "Bring to our adventurers a feast. Our best wines and spirits." She turns back to the party. "Lets all sit around the great council table and discuss this over a good food and fine drink. I always find information is better shared with a decent meal."

The great council table already has place settings being prepared by unseen servants along with wine and other liquid spirits magically appearing. Candles automatically light on the great candelabra that floats over from a side table and lands in the center of the council table.

(party's initiative)

Sly Foxx and Luke
Friday May 23rd, 2003 7:23:32 AM

Sly follows the others as to where are going to sit around this Feast on the Counsil table. Luke follows Sly and lays down at his feet, in his rest position.

When his turn comes around, Sly looks into Alsse eyes, telling his story "Yes I was brough up north east of here on the Mount Verdi, our village also had a special tree. It was a Blue Sprouce in the center of the village, did you ever hear of the Blue Sprouce of Dremorah?" Sly's eyes grows sad and now look at the glass of wine. Now it's gone. . . All gone. . . the people, the trees, my mother, my sister. All gone nothing left."

Sly look up into Alasse eyes again, "Thank you for adopting me, I pledge my life, my magic and my sword. To protect my new home, friends and the trees."

From under the table at Sly's feet, Luke relpies "Woof!"

Shiraz
Friday May 23rd, 2003 8:40:31 AM

Shiraz bows slightly as the Alassë Eärfalas mentions his name, not knowing what to say the taur wisely keeps his mouth shut and studies those around the party.

Peerimus
Friday May 23rd, 2003 5:43:45 PM

Peerimus sits at the table as much as he can to have elves on both sides of him unless it appears that there is prearranged seating. Saying a short blessing, mostly to himself teh druid goes into full out feast mode. Nothing on the table is not sampled or asked for and his glass is never less than half full.

Peerimus will wait for another to turn conversation to business. He will talk idlely with his neighbors on the forest and the creatures that used to live there and live still within the magical barriers of Burnt Eldor.

Sir Thomas  d20=9
Friday May 23rd, 2003 6:20:41 PM

Thomas bows slightly, but respectfully to all after the introduction. He then addresses a seat at the banquet table and waits for all to be seated. Thomas is working hard to discern the social politics of this society in order to know how to proceed with any discussion.

[Rolled 9 + 10 = 19 Diplomacy]

Thomas does as Peermius at first, striking up small talk with anyone who will speak back, but once he feels confident that he is not breaking any rules of ettiquete he addresses Caelmus the ranger - undead hunter. "It is very lucky for all involved that you have arrived with your skill. I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I am eager to learn more about all at this table in order to be better acquainted friends. I am curious sir, from where do you hail, and how have you learned to fight such undead and evil creatures?
"For us, once we heard of the evil here we consulted a priest to inquite about vampires and the evil with which company they keep. Unfortunately, we were only offered general information. We prepared based upon those recommendations. If you don't mind, will you please council us on what we are facing, and what approaches have proven to work?
"As to your inquiry, Lady Earfalas, we have been designated the children of chaos because of our spiral mark and our destiny to be curse and cure to the lands of the Wold. As you can see, we are an ecclectic gathering ... all walking an individual path, but very much in the same direction."

Thomas smiles and allows himself to be caught up in the conversation with the elves of Burnt Eldor. He eats very little, which is unusual, but his appetite has gone with the uncertainty evident in the future. He forces himself to eat enough to prevent hunger from hampering him later, but he'd rather be conversing than chewing.

Savin
Friday May 23rd, 2003 10:58:28 PM

Savin listens to the different speeches and then silently pulls the death mask out. He will hold up the mask for all to see. "Let me see if Sayra is willing to communicate with you. She has been very upset on having to raise the forest and killing the wolves. I hope she has snapped out of her funk." Savin will put on the mask and murmer, "Sayra, Please come and talk to these nice elves. They want to help you and I think you know some of them."

Trace and Radiant
Sunday May 25th, 2003 1:19:33 PM

Trace only nods and answers questions that are directed to him. He waits listening for the number of foes and where they are located and what the cause of the whole situation is. Sitting back listening he feeds and absently strokes Radiants feathers as he listens.

Jurgen and Vus
Sunday May 25th, 2003 11:25:00 PM

"Children of Chaos. A name bestowed on us by powers greater then ourselves. For each of us the reasons are different. I stand before you because there are those in the Wold who need help. I have been given the ability to do so and have the opportunity to assist. And so, that is what I do." He eats as always, as much and as many, as he can. Just because you were worried was no reason to starve yourself. "It isn't that we are so Chaotic, but that we fight against a powerful force in the Wold. A force that many follow and few can escape from. Evil." He shakes his head and sighes while allowing himself to relax a bit.

He was safe, if not for a long time, at least until they left. Or until this save haven was attacked by undead. That was a pleasent thought. Sigh... "Stop being stupid an idiot Jurgen and just enjoy yourself."

Ilsidur

Ilsidur also partakes in the feast, enjoying the food, although the elven wine is a little too light for his taste.

Sometime during the meal, he approaches Caelmus, and asks, "So, what exactly is an Undead Hunter? No offence intended, but what makes you any better at hunting undead than any one of us, with our spells and weapons?"

Dinner and a show (DM Stephen)
Tuesday May 27th, 2003 2:10:10 AM

(To answer some of your questions, I need to talk to a few people with some questions of my own. Questions about the nature of the new Wold and so on, because I have to protray everything accurately or my head will be put on a stick.)

Shortly after the main course is put on the table a quartet of musicans start to play. Before any of you can speak, you realize right now is not a good time to talk. (I'll treat everyones questions as if they were asked after the show.)

Another beautiful elven woman comes out of one of the doors. She is wearing a delicate skin tight dancers outfit. She starts to perform a graceful fluid type of dance. Much like ballet. Its a bit too formal for some of your tastes, but she is very nice to watch. Her features are very elegant and comely and she almost appears to float on the wind with her dance.

(Will have more tomorrow. this is the difficult part of the module.)

Sly Foxx and Luke  d20+6=10
Tuesday May 27th, 2003 6:23:40 AM

Sly sits back in his seat, with a glass of wine in one hand (all tough he would perfer to have goats milk) and a cookie or two in the other. Enjoying the music and the dance.

For a half-elf like himself, Sly tries very hard to stay in tune with his sences of danger.

Luke sleep at Sly's feet.

Rolled a 10 for wilderness lore.

Peerimus  d20=5 d20=20
Tuesday May 27th, 2003 10:04:55 AM

When the music begins and the dnacing starts Peerimus gets comfortable and makes sure he has a full glass. He has seen nymphs and other fey dancing in the mushroom circles and under the light of the full moon and often there are messages and meanings in the actions of the dance and that of the music. Peerimus watches intently going through his Knowlegde of nature.

Trace and Radiant  d20+10=29 d20+10=26
Tuesday May 27th, 2003 3:24:07 PM

Trace continues to pet Radiant's feathers as he watches the elven dancer. He is somewhat taken aback by the sight of her. It has been so long since he has seen another female elf let alone one with this much beauty. In fact the last time he tried to even think about companionship was with the Maiden Loria Mistwalker. Since then it has been arrogant humans and nasty orcs, oh and a big wyrm. (spot 29 wilderness lore 26) As he enjoys the entertainment Trace keeps a wary eye about to make sure no one is taking advantage of the relaxed situation.

Sir Thomas
Tuesday May 27th, 2003 6:05:05 PM

Thomas simply enjoys the beauty of the elven maiden and of her dance. He tries to take in as much as he can into his memory, but is troubled by one thing that keeps him grounded in the moment. He wonders to himself, "how in the name of Domi will I be able to describe this to my family when I return?"

Shiraz
Tuesday May 27th, 2003 10:20:39 PM

Shiraz eats sparingly during the feast neither endulging himself nor starving, and drinks no wine or all asking for water instead. As the show starts Shiraz, settles in against the back wall and hardly keeps an eye on the dancer.

Savin  d20+6=20
Tuesday May 27th, 2003 10:55:06 PM

Savin can't believe that the elves are feasting and dancing while evil threatens their families, homes, and very lives. He starts getting angry at the lack of seriousness on the whole situation. Then the music starts to effect him. His foot starts tapping to the music and he can't refrain. He pulls out the pan pipes that he got from Tulmult and stolls over to the musicans and raises his eyebrows in question and holds up the pipes. If they nod their agreement, he will join in and start playing. He will play several more songs before taking a bow and rejoining the feast. He will eat a hearty meal and listen to the conversation feeling more at peace with himself.

Ilsidur
Tuesday May 27th, 2003 11:28:30 PM

Ilsidur feigns interest in the elven dancer's show. However, he can't take his mind off the coming conflict that is brewing somewhere in the forest nearby. He hopes that the feasting, dancing and celebration will soon be over; he feels that this kind of celebration should occur upon the successful completion of such a major task, not before it takes place. He also hopes that this will not cause a distraction to others in the party.

Reunions (DM Stephen)  d100=54 d6=5 d100=16 d6=2 d100=31 d6=6 d100=92 d6=1
Wednesday May 28th, 2003 3:07:10 AM

As the dance starts, the story of the dance wasnt lost on Peerimus. If was a dance of the coming of Spring. Sadly, Peerimus understands that the dancer performs the parts of many different type of fey; each having the responsiblity of for a certain job. Tasks included opening flower buds, growing mushrooms and spreading morning dew, etc. The performance once required multiple dancers. However now there is only one and she performs well as she transitions between one character to another.

No one notices anything else going on to be alarmed by.

Savin motions to be allowed to join the other musicans. They nod as they play their insturments. Savin begins to play the pipes and the sound they make seems like an old friend. Playing the song feels natural and you do it with little effort. Funny though, you've never heard the song before and yet you know it. One musican raises an eyebrow as if he recognizes the stylings of the player. A look of pure surprise flashes across his face when he looks upon the pipes .. they spark a memory and he nearly loses his timing but he continues to play. (Savin gets 3 ranks in the Perform: Pan Pipes skill) Savin feels something awaken within him.

When the performance is over and after the applaud dies, the musican looks over to Savin and says, "Sayra... is that you? Its you isnt it." He appears almost shaken but he maintains his stoic demeanor.

Alassë shows her appreciation for the performance. She smiles after getting the desired response she was expecting. It becomes evident that Alassë had an alternative motive for having he dance and music performed. She now knows that Sayra has left her mark with Savin. "My dear Living Receiver ... my dear Savin. I just knew you couldnt resist. You must realize by now that the song you play and the dance performed here was the creation of Sayra."

(From your previous post) Savin has a strong urge to put the mask and so he does. Sayra lets her presence be known. Sayra looks down at the pan pipes in her hands. She runs her fingers across them. She then whips her head around and looks at the musican that noticed her. "Methos, Ive missed you so!" She rushes over to the musican. He instantly drops his instrument and stands to his feet. They both embrace in a long hug. Savin realizes with the flood of emotion that these two have made "beautiful music together" many many times before!!!

Sayra pulls away suddenly ... "Sorry so sorry that thing got to me. All these wasted years apart. Im so sorry." Methos, with his eyes turning red and teary, tries his best to maintain his composure. He says, "It wasnt your fault ... its no ones fault but that beast who stole you from me. Dont worry Sayra ... we will soon be together. When you get to the lands of rest I will meet you there. I promise .. I will be there."

Sayra slowly pulls away. She stares into his eyes and runs her hand across his cheek. "Oh Methos ... that sounds like a dream. Im afraid ... but with these heroes I have hope and Savin has given me such strength." With saying Savins name she pulls away from Methos' arms. "I hope Im not embarrassing him ... he has been so good to me." Methos smiles, "I understand. If you have such confidence then so do I."

The party looks on in amazement and a bit perplexed! (Im assuming this! :) Savin was hugging that man a little too long!!

After a place is made for the Methos at the table, next to Savin/Sayra, the meal continues. Alasse is almost beaming with elation as she observes everyone. Methos and Sayra pay little attention to the food but seem lost in each others eyes. However she choses not to eat things that Savin would object to.

Alasse turns to Sly and answers his question. "Yes, I remember the village you speak about ... and its tree. It is a shame. With all your help, we shouldnt suffer the same fate."

Sir Thomas and Ilsidur ask questions to the silent Caelmus. He takes his napkin and lightly taps at his lips. Caelmus then speaks in a slow slithering voice, "Yesss ... we servants of Gargul have many sects. More than likelyy you spoke to one of our clericss. However ... I dont preach... I do! I belong to a sect of Undead Hunters. We are elite hunters who strive to destroy our prey. That being the undead in all its vile forms. What the priest had told you is techically correct. However very few know undead like the Undead Hunter... not without getting into their rotting skins. We Hunters have developed stronger defenses and immunities to the effects of the undead. Effects like aurass of fear, life drain, possession, domination and paralyzation. Wee simply know how best to attack these creaturess." Caelmus turns to Ilsidur, "There are some undead whose power is so great that they are above simple turning or rebuke. That would then be our speciality. Tomorrow, we start to finish what my brothers in Gargul started so long ago. Yess, tomorrow we shall travel together and put an end to thisss once and for all. I will inform you more once we get on our way. There is much to discusss."

Sly Foxx and Luke
Wednesday May 28th, 2003 8:38:22 AM

Sly sits there watching the dancing elf, the music. The memoried come flooding back to him, the music of Spring, the dancing females then joined in by the male elves, all around that blue Spruce.
Sly's eyes are misty, but like his elven training not one tear falls. He pets his dog very lightly so not to wake him.
When Alasse breaks into his though, She remembers their village and their Tree. So Sly answers her in elvish, "Yes! I will defend my adopted tree with my life, so nobody else can lose their trees."
Sly turn silent again, not seeing anything but old memories, old friends and other times.

Peerimus
Wednesday May 28th, 2003 1:51:15 PM

Though not as beautiful and playful as it could have been, Peerimus finds himself greatly enjoying the dance and music and of course the food and wine. After all what was the point of making the Wold a better place and in even being alive if you did not take advantage of living when you could.
At the conclusion, Peerimus will rise from his seat and applaud appreciatively of the effort put forth from the elven maiden.
As conversation looks as if it will turn to business he fills his glass again and turns his full attentions to Alassë and Caelmus.
"Master Hunter as you have obviously been in the cursed areas I would like to know more of the dangers we might expect that I may properly prepare in the morning during my meditations and prayers. It was mentioned the forest itself alive and aware with evil intent with these Twig Blights, are there other such plant creatures? Also, the wolves we encountered should have folowed their prey, but have remained. Could the vampire be so powerful to control so many or have we glimpsed the surface of this greater evil that has settled into the wood?"

Savin
Wednesday May 28th, 2003 8:22:08 PM

Savin is slightly torn in his feelings. He feels the love Sayra has for this elf. He understands that these two were very close but feels uncomfortable at the same time. He feels attraction for this Methos. He knows he is feeling Sayra's emotions but he has never been attracted to a man before. He has never been in love before. He doesn't like the feeling at all.
Savin then steps back from the situation and looks at it from Sayra's eyes. She has been trapped in a mask for years. She deserves some happiness. "Grab what you can Sayra....but no kissing!" he thinks to her.

Jurgen Sturmjager
Wednesday May 28th, 2003 8:51:43 PM

Memories of the ending of the previous Woldian Age flood through Jurgen. The battle with the fowl machine that turned one into undead with it's touch, after giving them the pain of death. He had defeated the machine. With his friends, of course. And the wonderous arch that flew upwards through the sky, bringing a path for the saviors. Would these undead hunters make the destinction? The difference between sinner and savior. They turned into strange living dead creatures, but saved the Wold.

"Caelmus... Most of us here have been to the Realm of Shadow. We became undead to fight and save the Wold. So we know what their rotting skin feels like. I want to follow your path. That of an Undead Hunter, but I am more likely to join the ranks of the Grim... Regardless, I stand with my friends now. We will not let the fowl creatures of darkness harm this land any further."

Ilsidur
Wednesday May 28th, 2003 11:20:30 PM

Ilsidur's eyes light up as the Undead Hunter mentions the coming day, and its opportunity to get moving, and find out more about the undead problem. This evening in the elven village has been...interesting, but it really wasn't his idea of fun. He is happy, though, that the lady of the mask was able to reunite with her 'friend'. He smiles at poor Savin's situation, and thinks, "I hope the monk understands that the trapped spirit is just grabbing hold of a few minutes of joy, before we take her to meet her fate."

Trace watches Savin hug on to another male and stares blankly at the situation. Not sure of how to respond or think Trace tries to reafrim his prefrance and begins to flirt with the female dancer when she is finished. "Hello there, my name is Trace, I come from the North far away. This is my friend Radiant, I met him here on this land. I was on a quest and he came to me for some reason and we havent seperated since. Would you like to pet his feathers?"

Trace tries his best to impress the dancer while keeping an eye out on the area. He is sure that the others will key him in on anything important. He is not sure why but he dosnt seem to care for the Ranger. Maybe it is just that there is enough roosters in the hen house allready for there to be another, or is it something else. None the less he tries to enjoy his company for it has been a great while since he has had something this beautifull to talk to. (spot 30 nat 20 I see all :) )(wilderness lore 15)

Insight of whats to come (DM Stephen)
Thursday May 29th, 2003 2:39:49 AM

Methos and Sayra rise from the table. As the music continued to play, they walked together and walked away from the group to talk by themselves over at the edge of the balcony, overlooking the vast forest. Even though Sayra has taken control over Savin's body, he now feels like he's intruding. They whisper sweet nothings and speak of time gone by.

Conversation continues back at the table between the men and Lady Alassie. Caelmus turns to the druid, Peerimus. "I suggest prepare spells that cure poison and disease if your able. Where we are going, we are going to need it. The area, where we are going, is now walled with briars, littered with pitfalls and other nasty overgrowth. Expect the worst of nature. The very air seems stale and sickening. Smell of death is worsened the deeper we travel inward. Along with the stench of death comes pesty vermin. You will be eaten and suckled every step of the way. If you have some way to repel vermin for any great length of time would be most appreciated. The very ground in some places will reject your step. The soil is loose in places and seems to be saturated with some thick black sticky oil. A substance I have only seen in mounds of rotting flesh. An putrid oil secreted from a corpse's coagulated blood, body fat and other fluids. Its everywhere!!"

Caelmus refrains from speaking more about it for it is bad manners to bring up such horrid things at the dinner table. "I beg your apologiess Lady Alassie." Turning back to the party he contineus. "Also prepare spells that can detect plant creaturess. Vampiric plant creatures roam the land as well. Twig Blights truely live to their namess. They blend in with the environment and have a taste for blood. They come out of no where and are upon you before you can react. We have lost many to them. Ive learned piercing weapons arent too useful against these plant creaturesss. We havent been able to get too far in. We have always been forced to turn back. Too much losss, why too much losss."

Caelmus looks out over the horizon. The sun is going down and nightfall is upon you all. You all have been eating and talking a lot longer than you realized.

"We'll discuss more about this tomorrow. For now I must prepare. Id advise you all to rest well tonight. The Evil must certainly sense the presence of the mask. For the evil and Sayra are definitely tied in some way. We will need to act quickly. Good evening." Caelmus gets up from the table and disappears through a door.

Alassie's expression turns to a saddened and concerned. "Whatever happens over the next couple of days, tomorrow means both the beginning and the ending of our lives." She stares at the couple across the floor. "There needs to be an ending to this constant tragedy." A single tiny tear runs down her check. "Its to the point now where many.... even myself included... just wish all of this to be over. Not caring what happens anymore... just letting go... just letting it end. It becomes a little harder every passing day. My people have been tested so."

Alassie wipes the tear away and regains her composure. "If you require anything, feel free to ask of our servants for anything. They can show you where we have prepared for you a place to sleep and relax. Tonight I shall pray for you and my people. I bid you farewell. I shall see you in the morning."

Elven flirting! (DM Stephen)
Thursday May 29th, 2003 2:47:26 AM

(we posted at the same time)

Trace begins to flirt with the young dancer. She returns his smile. She seems interested in Radiant and marvels at being so close to the animal. The thing you notice is that there are precious few females. With the exception of the dancer and Lady Alassie, there have been few other seen. Except for an older female with long silver hair. The male servants and guards posted around the entrances seem to be watching you with the dancer. Could it be elven jealousy?

Shiraz
Thursday May 29th, 2003 3:12:46 AM

Shiraz listens carefully to the undead hunters list of likely prey,"Are my bastard swords's acceptable weapons? What kind of attacks can we expect from these plants and vampires? What is the best type of attack to make as a group?" Shiraz asks in rapid succession to Calemus, scarcely stopping to breath.

Sly Foxx and Luke
Thursday May 29th, 2003 5:52:07 AM

Sly sits and listen to the music, lost in his though and the beautiful scenery. then all at once he's on his feet, turns and putting a hand to his chesr, bows to Lady Alassie "I bid you good night. Sly ask a servant to show him to nitch where he could sleep. When he was alone Sly takes out his magic book and read for a few hours, after all he only need four hours of sleep.

Luke followed Sly and curled up at his side going back to sleep.

Sir Thomas
Thursday May 29th, 2003 12:00:25 PM

Thomas accepts Caelmus' answers and descriptions with an almost unconditional trust and acceptance of the ranger's expertise. Thomas nods and expresses his appreciation, "Thank you for your help and advice. We will be faithful and helpful companions on the morrow."

Thomas sits quietly until excused. He then retires to his given bed and removes his armor and cleans himself. He then attends to his prayers. Once finished with his prayers, he requests an unseen servant to guide him to the stables and his friend Pryte-Honos. He helps his friend become comfortable and finally retires to sleep.

When stirred in the morning, Thomas takes a few quick moments for praying to Domi again, then dresses and prepares to go. If up before expected, he will go tend to Pryte-Honos to prepare his steed for the day.

Peerimus  d20=6 d20=14
Thursday May 29th, 2003 2:20:32 PM

Peerimus listens carefully to the Hunter nodding repeatedly at the description of the forest terrain and possible attacks.
When Caelmus excuses himself he turns to Sir Thomas and Ilsidur, "I have many spells i can prepare to deal with a hostile forest and I also have the ability to cure both disease and poison, but I will not be able to adequately do both. I will also be able to keep the vermin at bay for a limited time in a limited area. So if it is a matter of comfort I beleive I will forego anything of that nature in favor of more direct intervention. Can either of you contend with poisons and diseases in the rest of the group?"

AS the group breaks up Peerimus will take an armful of fruit and meat and descend to where Yorrick is and stretch out on the grass with one of his great paws as a pillow.

The morning will find him in meditation crossed legged in front of some mud and staring into the sky to get an idea for the days weather. (Know Nature 6+10=16 Wilderness Lore 14+14=28)

Assuming someone else can cure poison and disease Peerimus will not prepare these, if no one else can he will.

Trace and Radiant #2 post
Thursday May 29th, 2003 4:28:03 PM

Trace hears Peerimus and without taking too much attention away from his new friend he calls out, "I will prepare two spells, delay poison wich will delay it's effects for 7 hours and detect pits and snares and I will be able to find them for 70 minutes."

Trace quickly returns his attention on the dancer without reguard of the onlookers.

Savin stays in his small corner of his mind and lets Sayra have her space.

Ilsidur
Thursday May 29th, 2003 11:14:30 PM

Ilsidur answers Caelmus, "I can ask the Woldian gods to give me a number of fix poison and cure disease spells. However, I don't think that I have much ability to deal with the insects. Peerimus, maybe you can do something? But my experience is that regardless of what spells I start the day with, most of them end up becoming healing spells, trying to keep these brash youngsters on their feet."

The Morning After (DM Stephen)  d100=92 d6=5 lucky Trace
Friday May 30th, 2003 5:34:59 PM

Methos and Sayra are starting to say goodbye to one another. Even though Savin's face is covered with a wooden mask, all Methos can see is the living flesh of Sayra. He eases in closer for a final kiss. Although Sayra would normally welcome it, she puts her gentle fingers up to his mouth and stops him from coming any closer. Tears stream down his face as it reminds him of their special situation. This was certainly Sayra in spirit but not in body. Savin sighs in relief!! Methos and Sayra say goodbye one last time. As Methos leaves, Sayra watches him until she can see him no more. Before taking off the mask, Sayra says, "Thank you, Savin." Once the mask is removed from his face, Savin takes control again.

Sly asks a servant to show him to his quarters. Sly and Luke is lead down a hallway and motioned through a door. Sly notices Sir Thomas across the hall in his own room. The room is nice and tidy. A nice single bed with fresh sheets. Lanterns are already lit. There is a wardrobe, a chest, table and two chairs and a nightstand. There is nice leather bound book on the bed. Its in elven. "Ancient Lore of Dremoria." There is a bookmark. If Sly turns to that page, it is the beginning of a chapter about his old village and the spruce tree. (If you read this book it will give you a free rank in Knowledge skill. Not sure which one. For now, we'll just say, Knowledge - local history. Its worth 200gp.) There is a little note inside the pages, it reads, "Please accept my little gift. I hope you find this book most enlightening." Signed, Lady Alassie Earfalas.

The dancer seems very receptive to Trace's advances. (Thats all Im saying about it, come up with your own conclusions!) However the next day the male guards arent very polite to Trace.

Peerimus is out meditating on forest floor. All signs points to a clear day with calm breezes and a fair temperature. The sunrise was quite colorful and vibrant. Shafts of light come streaming through the canopy of leaves and branches. The forest comes alive again. Birds chirping, small woodland creatures gathering things, all the splendor of nature in perfect harmony. Much unlike how its like outside the villages magical wards.

Trace wakes the next morning with a smile and is fully refreshed. It seems that it has been ages since he has felt this alive. He gathers his things and kisses the dancer goodbye, "Thank you for a wonderfull evening. You have given me the strenght of 10 elves. That is a good thing too, I leave today to hunt down the evil that haunts this village and these woods. Me and Radiant hope to see you again soon my dear." Trace makes his way back to the group trying his best to conceal his smile and ignore the snears from the guards.

Trace walks to Sir Thomas, "Well my good friend, are you ready to rid this wood of the evil that huants it so? Cause I surely am." Trace claps Sir Thomas on the sholder and then begins to look for a way back to the ground in order to get Shadow ready to and make sure that he has plenty of supplies. Trace turns to Sir Thomas and asks, "Do you think that the local shops would like to donate some supplies on our journey, to free them of the terror that threatens this very place? I was thinking some cure poison potions would do well." (spot 25 wilderness lore 21) Allways on the lookout.

Sly Foxx and Luke
Saturday May 31st, 2003 8:14:50 PM

Sly wakes up again and it's almost sunrise. He pick up the book again, cannot help turning to the chapter where his village is writen. It tells how the village came to be, how they evolved into the elves they really where. Sly learned that these wood elves almost always welcome families of mix races, learning and teaching them.
No wonder he loved his village so much that he went to the five witches for advice as to where and why the village, the Blue Sprouce and it's inhabents disapeared. Now he had a very good idea.
When it was time to go to breakfast, He pack both book he had read into his backpack. Left his his chambers and walk down to meet the others (followed close behind by Luke). Comming apon Trace and Sir Thomas Talking about shopping for cure poison, he ask them "Good Morn! Brothers, Can I go along with you to the shop? I would like to get a few things too."

Ilsidur
Sunday June 1st, 2003 6:22:05 PM

Clearly out of his element, Ilsidur wakes up, and prays to the Woldian Gods for strength this coming day. [OOC: Stephen, I will send you the new spell list by tomorrow night.]

He eats a light breakfast, drinks some water, and makes his way down to good old earth. He meets up with Peerimus and says, "No matter how many elven villages I visit, I still can't get used to sleeping so high up. There is something very comforting about feeling the hard earth below you as you drift off to sleep. Those tree villages always seem to be swaying and moving with the wind."

Jurgen Sturmjager
Monday June 2nd, 2003 1:57:54 AM

Jurgen lets the night pass, without much comment. His dreams are calm and serene. Ideas about battling vampires dance through him, but nothing that would scare him. He imagines dancing with a beautiful vampire woman and then letting her spin into Sir Thomas' waiting stake... It was strangely pleasing, even if disturbing. He wakes and decides to return to his meditation. It had been many weeks since he had let his mind attain the perfection of the void. The chaos that was his life.

Calmness became him. All the raging emotions that he held inside of him. Finally, he gets up and he joins the group. "How is your new home working out for you, Sly?" He grins, not pointing out that Trace probably had a nicer night.

Savin
Monday June 2nd, 2003 8:45:15 AM

Savin removes the mask and goes to bed, even more quiet than usual. He lays awake for quite a while even though the pillows and mattress are soft. When he awakens, he seems even more determined than usual, almost short tempered. He will plow through his breakfast and spring from the table. "Let's get started. It is time for this evil to end."

Peerimus and Yorrick
Monday June 2nd, 2003 3:31:56 PM

Peerimus has more fruit and water for breakfast and stays on the gound with Yorrick relacxing on the fresh dsewed grass under the rays of the morning sun.

"Ilsidur, Good morning." he calls out from his reclined position as the dwarf exits the stair.
"A tree so large does not sway with the wind,' then with a wry smile crossing his face, 'she moves purposefully to the enchanting rhthym of the Wold itself. Or you could think of it as the arm of the earth reaching up and holding you."
Peerimus gives him a wink and adds, "Of course I'm sure you noticed that I spent the night firmly on the ground. I thought Yorrick would get lonely you see."

Peerimus will be waiting at the base of the tree relaxing till the group is ready to depart.

Onward to Deep Londo (DM Stephen)  d100=93 d6=4 d100=3 d6=5 d100=89 d6=4
Tuesday June 3rd, 2003 2:00:06 AM

Trace shops around the stores. Almost all contain mundane items and some fine clothing, weapons and armour. However you are informed that all magic in the village is being used to fuel the wards, because the its protective magic is becoming more taxed each day.

You each have a good breakfast and a large group of elves gather on the groud to see you off. Caelmus has prepared and looks ready to go. Each one bows to you as head head for the gates.

Caelmus speaks up, " I hope each of you slept well. Today we head to a place called Deep Londo. I see you are all well equiped. We can talk along away. We are a day or two away depending on how well you all keep up. I travel rather quickly and I know the fastest trails. To bad not all us know the secrets of the druids." Caelmus gives a quick glance to Peerimus. "Ive always envied the way druids just seem to effortlessly move through the brairs and overgrowth."

Alassie gives each of you a tiny leather pouch stuffed with fragrant herbs. You smell the strong odor of garlic. The small pouch hangs on a thin leather cord and she places it around each of your necks (like a necklace).

With music beginning to play, you all know its time to leave. The young female dancer comes running out to Trace and puts a flower in his hand. She gives him a big kiss. Trace can see many of the young males elves become very red in the face as they glare back at you.

(Ok, here are your Dragon Battle Hero Points that most of you've been waiting for. Jurgen and Shiraz get 8 hero points. Sly Foxx and Luke
Tuesday June 3rd, 2003 4:19:39 AM

Sly Smiles at Jurgen's remark, telling him that Elves don't fight over Females. the female elf choses witch male she wants, the males accepts it.

After the meeting and breakfast, Sly feed Luke, as Alassie gives them some pouches of strong garlic oder. Sly will thank her, bow with cross his open hands on his chest (showing great respect) and ask of her "May I ask of my new village only one thing? May I have a little package of salt?" (Sly will wait for an answer if yes, Sly will take the pouch and put it ono his belt, If no He will return the his Brother at arms.)

As they march (in no sencerble order) Sly walks next to Trace's horse, "Big Brother, I don't think that some of our brothers back there are unhappy to see us leave?" Then sly look up at Trace, smiles and gives him a knowing wink. "I was given an intresting book last night. . . Very intresting,"

Luke follows not too far away from Sly and close to Yorrick.

Peerimus will give a nod at the compliment from Caelmus and smile. "I have prepared some spells that will make it easier for all us to if the need arises Master Hunter." Peerimus pats Yorrick as the bear slips back to find Luke.
As soon as the group exists the protective Elven area Peerimus will begin looking for signs of danger. From foliage in incorrect areas, such as a full sun shrub in an area of deep shade, to signs of wolves.

Trace and Radiant
Tuesday June 3rd, 2003 5:25:42 PM

Trace accepts the flower and puts it under his armor over his heart. "Thanks my dear, I hope to see you again soon." Trace pulls himself up on to Shadow and gives Sly a wink in return. He then moves up to the wards and waits for the others to head out. He slips the garlic medalion over his head and gives it a good pat.

Shiraz
Tuesday June 3rd, 2003 6:34:45 PM

Shiraz takes the small pouch, tucking it inside his breastplate,"Thanks mi lady and may the gods bless you." Rechecking his equipment for the umpteenth time, the taur takes the time to get as close to Calemus as he can,"Tell me more of our new foe."

Savin
Tuesday June 3rd, 2003 7:54:41 PM

Savin excepts the pouch and murmers his thanks. He is anxious to be off and find this evil. It has to be easier than dealing with Sayra and her paramour.

Ilsidur
Tuesday June 3rd, 2003 11:11:49 PM

Ilsidur bows back to the elves, and thanks them for their hospitality. He takes the small garlic sack from the lady elf, thanks her, and places it inside his breastplate. "My lady," he asks, "what is this sack? Does it contain magical properties? I only ask to know how to use it, or to know how it can help us in our task."

He smiles at the interplay between Trace, the elven dancer, and the other elves. "Trace, I don't think that you made any new friends among that bunch," he says, indicating the angry young elves.

As they travel, Ilsidur approaches Caelmus, and asks the undead hunter, "What is this place that we travel to? What is Deep Londo? Does it contain Sarya's tree? What can you tell us about what is going on there?"

Sir Thomas  d20=3
Tuesday June 3rd, 2003 11:51:49 PM

Thomas politely accepts the pouch of garlic along with his friends. He too notices the now overt actions of Trace and the young female dancer. He shutters inside slightly and thinks, "we can't go anywhere without automatically stepping on someone's toes. We have clown's feet. As a matter of fact, we are just a bunch of giant shoes walking around with hands made of all thumbs. What I wouldn't give for an index finger or even a pinky finger."

Thomas continues with his fun little metaphore while the group starts their journey. He remains very quiet, taking in as much as he can of other's conversations and the surrounding area. He doesn't hope to notice anything that Caelmus, Peerimus, Trace, or Sly won't first point out, but at least he is on his toes.

Jurgen Sturmjager [Koboldian]
Wednesday June 4th, 2003 12:20:07 AM

Jurgen, while he walks, places his belt back on. This time, he puts it on underneath his robe and attempts to make sure Sly cannot see it. It wasn't a matter of the belt controlling him, it was a matter of him being angry. He snickers quietly at Sir Thomas' comment, even as he realizes it partially was directed at him. Not at this moment, but it was...

He accepts the pouch with thanks and lets it stay on his neck. Now he was filled with the pungent odor of garlic. "Time to head out, I suppose." And he follows Caelmus with enough distance to hopefully take the rear of the party.

Deeper into Deep Londo (DM Stephen)
Wednesday June 4th, 2003 2:58:48 AM

Alassie, bids you one final farewell. She says the pouches will help protect you. Their fresh herbs infused with a little magic. They will operate continously for the full duration of its magic ... about a week.

The party passes through the barriers of the magical wards. The forest turns to a very drab place. Colors are muted. The plants appear sick and wilted. Vines twist and wind around trees. The air instantly tastes stale and the normal sounds of nature are left behind you.

Caelmus tells the group where they are going. "The place we are going is called Deep Londo. Its where the Darkwood groves are located. The home of Sayra, your friend there in the mask. There in the Darkwood groves is where her oak tree was located. We suspect it to be the center of the problem. However we have never been able to get close enough to it."

Caelmus stops when he hears the last question from Ilsidur. "I am not certain what is there. Whatever it is, it keeps Sayra from leaving this realm, the Living Wold. It is a growing death that spreads like these vines. Choking the life out of everything they entwine. If you didn't know, dryads have a symbiotic relationship with their tree. When one dies, so does the other. She died, but she is not gone. Her soul still exists here. That is why the Soulseekers gathered her into the mask. To keep her from being blown around in the etheral winds."

Caelmus gets back to walking. "We know this for certain ... she was taken by a vampire. Sayra died and so should her tree, but it too is still there. We've scryed the tree, but our eye was quickly blinded and we've never been able to see it again."

Turning to Shiraz, Caelmus finishes by saying, "Be prepared to fight with the undead ... vampires to be more precise. We dont need to worry about those until nightfall, but there are plant creatures that may be watching us right now... Twig Blights. Thats what we have named them. When you meet one, you will understand why. But prepare for nature being our enemy now. This environment is against us and will try anything to stop our progress."
