To the Island through the Swamp. (DM Jim) Wednesday August 27th, 2003 2:00:39 PM
You are all relieved to find that most of your travel is just more of that deep mud. Though it slows you down, it is not as bad as swimming.
You have been traveling for several hours now, most of the time carrying little Domisha who is fastly tiring of this. What had started out being fun is slowly losing its appeal to her and she starts to complain. You realize that you will make slower progress now, but you are getting closer to the island.
You have also noticed that the bugs are fewer in this area, but a few still bother you. It is as Vasch is swatting at one of these few biting bugs that his hand comes away blood stained. Anyone looking will notice a large blood gorged leech hiding in the hair of his mane, near his neck.
[The island would be estimated at about 3 miles away from where Brahmah flew up to have a look. Brahmah, Ceira and Vasch have started to feel a little warm lately.]

"Kenisha! Put Domisha on my back. Look at Vasch has pick up a leech or two." Flat-top will put on a harness so that Domisha can ride on his back. "We should have build a raft like Vasch wanted."
Brahmah (still flying) Wednesday August 27th, 2003 7:45:18 PM
Brahmah offers to ferry those across who trust his grip. ;) He'll fly one or two Chosen over before offering to take Domisha. "I'd hate to see someone drown or be bled further when I'm flying up here fancy free." He says smiling.
OOC: (Lets see, 90 feet or 360 at full movement(run) unencumbered. Encumbered with a heavy load is 270 feet, I'm assuming all the Chosen exceed 550 pounds except Domisha; who MIGHT weigh 130 maybe. Three miles, 15,840 feet, figures to about 59 minutes per taur for the one way trip(if you exceed Brahmahs 520 heavy load minimum). Figure Brahmah would take about 44 minutes to return for another load. I think if taurs swim part way, it might cut time in half (fishing them out as I go), otherwise we're looking at between 7-12 hours to ferry everyone. Remember, this will avoid water, leeches, gators, drowning, lessen the bugs and move things along. When all is said and done, the only Chosen that might be fatigued is Brahmah. :) )
Leets Thursday August 28th, 2003 2:19:31 AM
"Brahmah's right..."
"Vrurt is probably seeking for such a place. It's worth getting a closer look..."
Leets also begins to remove his full plate armor.
"It's all wet, and it will soon begin to rust if we go on this way."
"And I can't swim correctly with this..."
Kenisha & Domisha Thursday August 28th, 2003 7:15:00 AM
"Brahmah's right." Kenisha says trying to comfort her tired child.
(sorry for the skimpy post but I'm trying to gt over a nasty cold.)
Vasch d20+7=27 d20+7=9 d20+7=21 Thursday August 28th, 2003 10:12:14 AM
Vasch removes the leech and looks for more attached to his body. (Search DC27) "The rest of you might want to check for leeches as well."
Later Vasch looks up and checks the sun then looks around at the others, "Domi, this day's getting warm." Vasch seems to be distracted by the increased heat and seems unable to concentrate on the trail. (Wilderness Lore DC9)
When the Chosen arrive at the water's edge, Vasch begins to look around for trees that may hold enough weight to get him and others across. (Spot DC21) "That's a long swim. Do you think Vrurt's there. I mean I can't make a swim like that and carrying a child."
The Island and Getting to It. (DM Jim) Thursday August 28th, 2003 2:21:46 PM
You have finally reached the large body of water that surrounds the island. A guess would put the water at about 200 yards from the land you stand on to the land of the island. A extremely large tree stands in the middle of the island, surprisingly it is in full bloom with a mixture of colored leaves. You notice a foot wide tree that stretches across the water, obviously not a natural thing.
The water is crystal clear with lots of colored fish swimming in it. This is rather strange in many ways for a swamp, but you do get the feeling of peace surrounding this island.
Vasch takes the time to search himself and finds another four gorged leeches that he quickly gets rid of.
Brahmah (still fllying) d20=11 d20+1=5 d20+2=10 d20+1=20 d20=16 d20+2=4 Thursday August 28th, 2003 4:36:29 PM
"Chosen, not to sound like a father, but stay here. I'll return in a minute."
Brahmah takes off into the air, circles(within 50 feet) the island and tree three times and looks for ambush sights or the like that might be suspicious. He also looks for anything out of place, aside from the island/tree itself. How tall is the tree, how old? What kind of fish? (knowledge nature 11, wilderness lore 5) Tracks on the island? (spot 10, wilderness lore 20) Are there any fallen leaves? If there are fallen leaves Brahmah wishes to return to the group with a hand full for study.(knowledge nature 16) Before leaving the island, Brahmah takes a minute and looks carefully at the island.(taking a full round to catch what he may have missed, 4, seeing nothing different) When he returns, he tells the Chosen anything of note.

"Vasch! this is all the salt I have left, But it does maje the leeches let go. I hope I'm not hurting you? Wow look at that big tree." Flat-top watches for Brahmah, he cannot wait for the Captain B. to get back. From where he is Flat-top cannot see or hear anything.
Kenisha and Domisha d20+3=14 Thursday August 28th, 2003 11:00:01 PM
The moment Kenisha makes it to the island she is busy checking Domisha for leeches (Search=14), but the little tike is not cooperating, she wants to trot about and play.
"Hold still for mommy, dear" Kenisha pleads as she searches.
Kanchana Friday August 29th, 2003 1:49:08 AM
Kanchana trudges through the mud and stops at the waters edge. "I guess we will have to take a look at those leech bites once we get to the island. In case there might be an infection starting. Vasch do you want any help removing those leeches?" Kanchana asks.
Meanwhile she looks at the island and into the water (as best she can without walking out into it). Kanchana wonders if this might not be a grove. "I wonder if that log bridge is safe to cross on?" Kanchana asks with curiousity.
Taric Friday August 29th, 2003 3:17:08 AM
"Finally, a place away from the mud and stinky swamp!" exclaims Taric upon sighting the island. He then realizes they first have to get there. Almost impatient he moves to the treelog, but then waits, realizing it might be a trap. Noticing Brahmah flying around Taric folds his arms across his chest and waits, all the while muttering under his breath: "Faster Brahmah, faster. That islang sure looks good."
Vasch d20+5=10 d20+5=23 d20+5=23 d20+5=24 Friday August 29th, 2003 10:09:11 AM
"Thanks, Kanchana I would appreciate the help." Vasch says standing near the waters edge. He seems to be looking quite intently at the water, or more importantly at the fish under the water. "Fish...yum..." he says and takes out his bow. A few shots into the water (AC 10,23,23,24) and there may be fish on the menu tonight.
