(DM) The Next Morning
Wednesday September 10th, 2003 10:00:36 AM

All of the group arise with out much disturbanceand greet the new day with great noise and busy people running this way and that. There is a band playing and somewhat of a fair enviroment about the area. A Gnome attendant named Ozzmand Bitterwill arrives at your tents and introduces himself and allows the greeters that are with him to cast spells on the group so that they present well while the day begins.

Ozzmand begins to describe the rules of the race and begins to point out the other players that are involved with the race as well. These first gents here are the Minotaur Express. A quite fearsome bunch but a noble competor. Looking over them there is another group, They are called the Mystacial Racers

Wednesday September 10th, 2003 10:58:20 AM

Sly wonders about the other teams as he gives them the once over and wonders what was takes from them to make them Fight Or race. But still his though wanders to Luke. Is he all right? Is he safe?

Didnt mean to hit post yet......lol the rest will be there soon.

(DM) The Next Morning Cont.
Wednesday September 10th, 2003 3:59:12 PM

The Mystacial Racers are made up of magic users and will be a real challange to get by. Next we have the Lotto's Irritable Berserkers. They can be quite a handfull when there not done for the day and drunk. They seem to have the same pattern day by day. Run full speed all day and hit dead stop at night and drink like there is no tomorrow, quite a sight I tell ya. Over here there is the Halfling Hellions. Not much background on them. All seem to be quite athletic when I met them. Now finnaly we come to last years winners, Then Gnomish Brigrade. There wagon last year was quite a sight and I would think that they plan on useing the same design this year as well.

Ozzmand sets a chest on the table before him. He then opens it and turns it to the others. You see a chest full of gold. Ozzmand pulls out a paper and hands it to you. These are the rules. This is 100,000 gp to build your racing wagon. Not many rules. You can use magic to make the wagon and you can use your own money to go past the 100,000 if needed. There will be check points along the way and they are safe zones and will be no attacks while in the safe zone. Now you have one week to build the wagon and buy horses.

Good Luck to you all, if you cant find it here in mud city, then you might try going in to the big one over there. Pointing at Hook City. But I do suggest you do that on a last resort basis. They are a bit upity there and many are wageing bets on this race and there might be some outside influance against you. So choose your buys wisely.

Wednesday September 10th, 2003 4:49:46 PM

Sly sit there watching and listening, after Qzzmand and his magic casting Greeters leave.

Sly get up and goes over to Trace, "Tell me Big Brother, did you get the gems to open the warehouse from Sir Thomas before he left for the Temple? If I remember right we have a couple of wagons there. Among other things, we better make a list of what we need. With safe Zones and anythings Goes Zone.

We will need wood, wheels, horses, halters and reins. Most of all Magic. Should we go and see if we can salvage anything from the warehouse first then get the horses. What other ideas can we use?" then Sly gets real quiet, a evil smile crosses his face and ask " I wonder if we could use the Ferret Statue as a last resort. Hmmm! I wonder?"

Savin
Wednesday September 10th, 2003 7:27:46 PM

Savin goes over and looks at the list of rules. It might effect wagon design so he is very interested in what the rules say. As he glances at it, he will say, "Do we have to even use horses. Maybe we can rent a dragon and fly the wagon around."

Shiraz
Thursday September 11th, 2003 8:38:54 AM

Shiraz looks at the man with a bumbfounded look on his face. As the man finishes, "Do you work for the man that took my friends companions?" Shiraz asks calmly. "What I mean to say is do you know where the theiving son of Marteaus is who took my friends companions and now expects me and mine to calmly design and race a wagon?" Shiraz takes another deep breath and expels it forcefully, "Because as a point of honor, if you do then I suggest you tell me where he is or have him brought here, dragged preferably in chains!" Shiraz looks at his friends, "Soryy I am fed up with games already. Shiraz makes no pretense and sits on a camp stool, calmly sharpening his swords.

Peerimus  d20+4=19
Thursday September 11th, 2003 10:49:11 AM

Peerimus also asks to actually see the 'rules' "I would ask if we need to even race the wagon. The wagon needs to be checked in at these locations. Why not just transport it to each one and be done with this nonsense."
As Shiraz speaks up the druid quickly looses interest and turns an attentive eye to Ozzmand searching his face and mannerisms when faced with the question.
(Sense Motive 19)

Trace
Thursday September 11th, 2003 3:04:28 PM

With Shiraz taking the lead in calling for the head of the theif, Trace leaps in to give his two cents as well. "Yeah! Where is this fool, I would like to change his mind about holding our friends hostage!" Trace says this while resting his hand on the butt of his swords.

After realizeing that it is not going to happen Trace will join the others in looking over the rules. "I think we have plenty of armor we could sell or use to armor the wagon. I am pretty sure that they have allready thought of teleports but it is worth a shot. Rember this is not the first time they have had this race.

Here Sly, take the gems for the wharehouse. We could split up and start looking into things. half could go to the wharehous and see what we have left to use. The other half could go and find out what we can buy to pull the wagon. Meanwhile I will take the ring of invisability and with my silent moves armor I should be able to sneak around and check out what everyone else is doing as well. Even more so check out last years winners.

(DM) The Hunt for supplies
Thursday September 11th, 2003 4:31:38 PM

As Shiraz and Trace seem to get heated over there held friends, Peerimus notices that Ozzmand get extreamly nervous with quick looks around and quickly moves his hand over his mouth. "Please, I wasnt asked to do this job. I am at the same situation you are. I was told if there was any upriseing with the racers I would pay for the delay in the race. Please, I dont think there is much you can do except cause harm to me and other innocent people.

After that he leaves the group to mull over the task ahead.

Barnum Berrybrawn
Thursday September 11th, 2003 10:06:56 PM

"As Peerimus said, must it be a wagon, as pulled on land. I'm sure with THIS amount of money we could hire someone to teleport us from place to place. Or perhaps, we could enable the wagon to fly?"

Savin
Friday September 12th, 2003 12:05:59 AM

"Shiraz! Trace! This is counter productive. Think this through. Who ever organized this event just gave us 100,000 gps! I am sure the other groups have received the same amount. Thats 500,000 gold pieces. He or they also had enough magic to spirit our friends away while we slept. I am assuming they are powerful magicusers or priests. I don't think it will do any good for our kidnapped friends. Besides, these nice people are at best servants or at the worse pawns. Let them be."

The monk turns and starts scanning the rules again.

OOC Could you please post the rules of the event

Shiraz
Friday September 12th, 2003 9:17:00 AM

"By the love of Imod!" Shiraz curses and turns to his friends, "You may jump through hoops at this beings command but I dont. I am willing to pu tmy life at risk for others, honor and friendship but I have only seen deciet here. AS for 100,000 gold pieces or 1,000,000 gold pieces or even 1,000,000,000 gold pieces for a wagon, are they worth the part of missing companions?" Shiraz turns back to the man and seethes.

Sly Foxx
Friday September 12th, 2003 10:21:48 AM

"Thank-you Trace, I'll go to the warehouse as soon as I can." Shy replies to others, "I notice these people are just pawns in this race game of this Ego Inflated Wizard, and He's strong enough to get his way. I'll bet that this race is for his ego. In fact if you should talk to the people arond here, that we are replacement to a team that have either Died or Killed.
But that does not reduce the fact that our companions are in danger. In order to know what we need from the warehouse, we better read the list of rules and make a list." Sly still has a frone on his face that tell every body that he is not very happy."

Peerimus
Friday September 12th, 2003 11:57:11 AM

A feeling of powerlessness washes over Peerimus as he obsrves the reaction of Ozzmand and listens to him. This spans far beyond Yorrick and himself, everyone else in the group and possible the inhabitants of Dirt City as well. Peerimus' gaze moves upwards to the great 'hook' that supports the city high overhead.
Those living in glass houses he muses. The tirade streaming from Shiraz breaks him from contemplative thought. His initial reaction he quells, it would do no good but increase the tensions and fuel the fires
Stepping between Shiraz and the truly terrified Ozzmand Peerimus turns to face teh pwerful Taur. "Shiraz, you may be willing to risk your life and the rest of us ours as well, but I am not willing to risk Yorricks or the others. Headstrong actions will get them and judging from the scope of this once personal issue, many other innocents as well. You will control yourself. We will 'jump through hoops' if we must. I would clean the sewers on bended knee with a maple leaf for a month if that is what it took. We have no position of authority or power from which to strike and until that changes contemplation and action towards such is an excersice in futility and waste of energy." The druid then turns over his shoulder to Ozzmand and thanks him and sends him on his way.

Trace
Friday September 12th, 2003 12:02:53 PM

Trace takes his hands off his swords and backs up. "I guess this falls under the, dont shoot the messanger area."

Trace tells the others that he will be back in the afternoon to tell what he has found out. He walks into one of the tents out of sight and then puts on the ring of invisabilty and makes his way back out and heads for a way around the area to the other groups.

Sunday September 14th, 2003 9:07:50 AM

Hey Guys and Gals, I still need two sheets from you all. I need 3.5 versions from Trace and Shiraz. Please send them in.

Shiraz
Monday September 15th, 2003 8:11:39 AM

"I will control myelf?" Shiraz thunders, "I will do what I feel needs to be done druid and you would remember well to not tell your elders how to act. I will not jump through hoops. I will not dishonor my family nor my friends and I will not be told when to calm down. I am Shiraz the Minotaur and I will have my words marked. I am not bound by this, this, this whatever it is and I will not be spoke to as a child." Shiraz watches the back of the messenger grow smaller as he walks off, "I have lost or had everything took away when I came to this land, I remember only parts of my youth, my family, my home. I have my honor and this little group of friends. I have my swords and my shield. I am a simple taur and I have simple rules."

Peerimus
Monday September 15th, 2003 3:34:24 PM

"Then stop acting like a child." the druid snaps back. "The random act which caused you to be born before myself does not place you at a higher station and I will suggest you calm down everytime when it seems that your anger seems to be overwhelming your senses. Was it so long ago that have forgotten what Jurgen's words on the Elven Highway could have come to? Yes you have your honor and this group of friends which includes those that have been taken by power far beyond you, us the elves and likely any we know. What would you lead to Shiraz. Perhaps we should tear Dirt City apart? Perhaps we could beat every citizen we come across til they falsely confess having willing taken part?" With these words, Peerimus has flung his arms out wide and turned in a slow circle indicating all around himself as he awaits the expected retort.

Barnum Berrybrawn
Monday September 15th, 2003 7:30:36 PM

Barnum is taken aback a bit, looking at the druid and the minotaur. There are things he wants to say, but he feels he is still too much of a stranger and the two of them are a bit too fierce at the moment for him to get anything out. So, for once in his life, Barnum Berrybrawn holds his tongue.

Sly Foxx
Tuesday September 16th, 2003 6:08:53 AM

Sly steps between Peerimus and Shiraz, looks at the minotaur with warery eyes, "I know what it is like to have everything taken away from you, I had a beautiful village, with friends, I had a mother, a sister and a Home. Now it's all gone, nothing is left, all most as if nothing living ever existed there. If we would have had a little more time, before this happen, I would have taken all of you where the birds sing and the game are plenty. But Luke come first.
Shiraz why don't you come with me to the warehouse and see what we can salvage?"

(DM) The Clearing of the rules
Tuesday September 16th, 2003 2:26:24 PM

As Ozzmand starts to leave he hears the questions of teleportation and flying. As he continues to leave he speaks over his sholder, "All flying spells and teleportations will be canceled if found out about and the racer will be sent back to the last check point. The true spirit of raceing must be maintained."

As the Minataur and the druid start to argue, it seems to have captured the attenion of everyone in the area and a large group seems to be gathering to watch and see what happens next.

Shiraz
Tuesday September 16th, 2003 3:38:41 PM

Shiraz seems torn between two emotions as Sly steps between him and the druid, anger and frustration. "I dont know you very well druid and maybe thats the reason you feel you can speak to me any way you see fit. Be advised that though we share a bond in our tattoo's and this group of friends that you have steped over the line twice now. You need to make a decision if you choose to make it three, because I will not allow it again. I will go with Sly to give you time to think." With that said Shiraz turns abrubtly and weaves through the crowd.

Sly Foxx
Tuesday September 16th, 2003 5:08:37 PM

Sly turn to the Ozzmandand tell him, "Don't push him, he'll slice you in two with with blinking. After all he did fight a dragon almost by himself.
Sly runs after Shiraz,"Wait! Shiraz let me lead you to the warehouse, I'm the one who knows the way." Sly pays the entry tax and gets some money exchange. Then he takes Shiraz over the Hanging bridge, with all the merchants stalls doing business, and weaving through the all the people, untill they get to the other side of the bridge, down the steps and on the way down the street to the ware house.
Sly look at the warehouse, it has not change much, Sly takes out the gems keys and put them into their asign slots. They Open the door and it is very dusty and dark. "Well! Shiraz! What do you think?"

Peerimus
Tuesday September 16th, 2003 5:32:44 PM

"You do that." Peerimus watches as Shiraz departs. 'That may work on the peasants my friend, but I will not cow to veiled threats.' he says to himself. 'But now is not the time or place to finish this.' he continues softly. Noticing the crowd he dismisses thier existance with a wave and moves to leave the city.

Barnum
Wednesday September 17th, 2003 7:48:51 PM

Barnum lifts up a few pieces of gold, and lets them sift between his fingertips back into their proper chest. One hundred thousand gold pieces was quite a sight to behold, especially for someone with a moneylust like Barnum's. He is a bit miffed about the fact that he has to use all this money on a wagon for a silly race, but Edgar was more important than any amount of money, even 100,000 in gold...

Barnum murmurs to himself, "No teleportation, no flying..." He then speaks up to the rest of the group, "Do you think we could use that Elven Highway for this race? That would give us an edge, I believe. Perhaps we could build... A wagon with a great sail, and some magic device that would emit very powerful winds, stronger than any horse could pull us. Or maybe... Horses with magical horshoes... Or..." Barnum trails off, lost in his thoughts.

Savin
Wednesday September 17th, 2003 11:15:19 PM

Savin will run to catch up with the departing servant. "Excuse me kind sir, Is there any other rules we need to be aware of?"

Shiraz
Wednesday September 17th, 2003 11:39:33 PM

Shiraz pauses for a second allowing Sly to catch up then blindly follows Sly around as they do whats neccessary to gain access to the city and the warehouse.

Sly Foxx
Thursday September 18th, 2003 10:17:27 AM

"The warehouse is wide and long. down in the back is a room with six cots, indoor previee too and also thats where the two wagons are. Follow me, lets hope their in good shape." Sly tells Shiraz.
They start to go down to the back end of the warehouse, WHEN they hear a noise. The Stop and listen "I hope that a mouse?" Sly whispers to Sharaz.

Peerimus
Thursday September 18th, 2003 10:32:42 AM

Moves off from the city and distractions that have arose. I need meditation time, the flight did nothing Finding a quiet babbling brook he climbs into its center and sits cross legged letting teh water calm ad wash over him.

(DM) The wagon salesman
Thursday September 18th, 2003 12:47:45 PM

Ozzmand turns one last time and address Savin, "Well this will be a judgment on a case by case situation. The race will be constantly watched and anything deemed unfair or cheating will be delt with right away. No hardened rules will be laid out in order to prevent the loop hole effect. Good luck sir!" Ozzmand runs away now so not to be bothered by more questions.

Sly rembers all the pains in entering the city and is able to manuver into and arond the city with little problem. Before they reach the wharehouse a middle age human walks up to them and introduces himself, "I am John, I couldnt help but notice yall are in the great race. Later this evening if your interested I would like to show you some wagons for sale that were used in some previous races. This might help you get started and maybe an advantage rather than starting from scratch.

As peermius sits down to relax at the stream he notices a halfling across the way near a trail working on something.

Barnum stands there fondeling and looking at all the gold, when he looks up he notices that everyone has seemed to slip away. He is left holding the chest of gold by himslef.

Peerimus  d20+17=31
Thursday September 18th, 2003 2:46:32 PM

There is a halfling team in the race. Relaxation will have to wait, besides doing something constructive towards getting Yorrick back will help remove the pwerless feeling.

Peerimus shifts to an eagle and takes wing climbing out and away from the stream as if he had just attempted a catch and was now moving back up to circle. His flight path will of course, take him directly over the halfling to get a good look. Peerimus takes up a circling path 50' up that crosses the halfling and teh stream to keep his pretense of an actual eagle.

Shiraz
Friday September 19th, 2003 8:39:37 AM

As John the Used Wagon Dealer made the sudgestion of showing them some used wagons that night, "Alright John! come to the camp site in mud city. We'll see you later."
Sly opens the warehouse and shows Shiraz around, the back room, the boxes of armor and weapons of all kind, "That's all thats left just about a twelve to fifteen boxes of armor and Weapons some blankets and cooking stuff! But over here is the wagons I was talking about."
Sly and Shiraz walk around the wagons, kicking at the wheels(which almost falls off the shaft). The two of them goes looking for the leather haulters, bit, rains and some coupleing chains.(whitch was in prety good shape.)
Sly look at Shiraz asking "Well! What do you think? Does John the Use Wagon Man deal sound good by now?"

Savin
Saturday September 20th, 2003 7:25:16 PM

Peerimus looks closer and sees the halfling working with rope and tree branches. The sun is starting to settle in the West and the woods are becomeing dark quicker than every where else.

Sly and Shiraz find that the wharehouse have virtually been untouched since they last left it. Their reputation must have guarded it well. They find a large cache of weapons and armor and two wagons with tack. The tack and leads are all useable but the wagons have seen better days. If time permitted maybe the wagons could be rebuilt and serviceable.

Barnium continues to wait at the site and sit on the chest of gold.

Savin finds a stable on the edge of mud city. When he ask of hireing Centaurs for the job, the man scratches his head. "I dont think they would much care for pulling a wagon. But then agian enough money useally gets most things put in the right direction. As he shows you this he shows you a varity of horses that are available. Some have enchantments cast upon them.
