On the road again

Parting is such sweet sorrow - Dm Ian
Monday October 20th, 2003 7:24:00 PM

Kiriani rises from her chair, and looks over the assembled group solemnly. At the last she gives Renik an impudent wink, and begins to speak.

"Unless there are other affairs to be dealt with, shall I transport you back out to the caves? I have taken the time to mark out a place just at their entrance for your convenience."

"I cannot speak to what may have passed between yourselves and Marcus, but I have been authorized to say that the government of Plateau City would be willing to continue your employment, and renegotiate position and terms. Please consider this when it comes time to make plans and alliances again."

Draax
Monday October 20th, 2003 8:38:21 PM

Draax waits to see if there are any objections to leaving now. "I have finished doing everything I needed to. I am ready to go."

Kylean
Monday October 20th, 2003 9:34:30 PM

Kylean nods. "As am I."

Renik (by Todd)
Monday October 20th, 2003 10:19:57 PM

"You will be our contact point through the communication device?

Assuming the DragonTurtle is the one scrying on us. Can someone pick up something against scrying for 24 hours or so. I'm sure he's trying to locate us as of right now."

As he finishes off the meeting a gleam comes into Renik's eyes. "As soon as we finish our business, we will come back and discuss the terms of our further employ. Maybe over a glass of wine, and dinner. hmm?" As he speaks Renik grabs Kiriani's hand and kisses the back of it and ends the interchange with a smile.

Rond
Monday October 20th, 2003 10:26:47 PM

"We do need to cover ground quickly and see if this infernal machine, or any other look alike machine is being built.

If Kylean is to be our guide, I just hope he has strong stomach. Most of what we've had to deal with has not been pleasant by any means. We've lost a lot of good friends."

Rond remembers some of his friends during the brief interlude. When he sees Renik be himself, Rond groans to himself. He wonders if this is a different sort of politics.

Feng
Monday October 20th, 2003 11:47:23 PM

The half-orc shakes his head subtly and rises from the table. With a potential threat that could endanger the entire wold, gold is the farthest thing from his mind. He wasn't sure if he could say that about everyone else.

"I'm going to grab my gear and check it one last time. It will only take a few minutes."

Tratain
Tuesday October 21st, 2003 12:18:12 AM

Tratain says "I am ready to go whenever everyone else is. Can anyone explain to me what this device is? I've never heard of it before."

Arien
Tuesday October 21st, 2003 3:19:16 AM

"The machine was something that was used to steal peoples' souls for the power of its owner. Everytime we've encountered one of the machines its cost us. The first time Damocles and Marcus' wife both banished themselves with the device forever. The second time was when Domi was killed. I can't imagine that it can get much worse than that, but then again, knowing how these things work it would be best to prepare yourself for the worst Tratain." Arien sighs as he thinks a moment before adding, "Well it'd best to get going as soon as possible, I hate leaving unfinished business and I'd like to finish this business up as soon as possible."

Setanos
Tuesday October 21st, 2003 9:05:17 AM

Setanos stands and straps his newly aquired greatsword to his back. He releases two small stones, which begin circling his head.

"I'm all set here. Lets go take care of business."

The lonely road - Dm Ian
Tuesday October 21st, 2003 6:34:41 PM

Kiriani raises an amused eyebrow at Renik's actions, and simply states, "I see we may have something to discuss when you return."

With that she incants a quiet prayer to Domi, and the group stands once again on the rocky promontory jutting out into the sea. A short distance to the north the cavern mouth stands empty, a bleak reminder of your recent struggle within.

Kiriani looks over the group and smiles.

"It has been an honor and a pleasure meeting all of you. Please feel free to consider me as a contact point, should you encounter insurmountable difficulties. Your coin will reach me."

In Domi's name, walk with the warmth of courage within, and the steely resolve of confidence guiding your steps. Be well."

With that, she taps her necklace, and vanishes.

Turning back to the road leading northward out of New Elenia, you make good time into the morning sun. At brief intervals for the first hour you catch distant glimpses of the vacated sea elven village on the beach, and wonder briefly about the former occupants.

However, the road beckons, and wandering northwards, the reddish colored hills that give the northern region its name, begin to come into view.

The night is quiet, uneventful, marked only by the wind howling off the sea onto the coast. Yet, being so close to the sea, shortly after the darkness falls, a thin layer of clouds rolls in, and traps a balmy, moist warmth near the ground, making a campfire doubly effective.

In the morning, after breaking camp, your walk takes you towards the indistinct northern border. The road here is open, wide, and beginning to show signs of neglect, winding through copses of trees and stone pilings made by massive hands. It is during one of these fields of stone and wood, that, about lunchtime, you begin to hear two men laughing. Caution being what it is, peering through the trees, you see a small camp to one side of the road about three hundred feet away. There is a small fire, and two individuals sit by the fire doing something involving a box.

(Spot check, please, if you spend a round looking at the scene.)

Feng  d20=10
Tuesday October 21st, 2003 11:26:57 PM

Feng is glad to be back on the road. It was good to see his war hoarse again. Degg had been gone for a few days and missed traveling from one place to another. While formidable in combat Feng and Degg both take pleasure in the simple things. Like riding down a road on a sunny afternoon. Hearing the laughter Feng looks in the general direction but doesn't see much. [spot check 10]

Tratain keeps an eye out for anything that may threaten the group while they are traveling. When they encounter the two individuals Tratain try's to see what they are up to. (Spot 27) He Readies himself just incase they turn out to be hostile.

The next morning, after memorizing spells and casting his ritual of medative fovus, Setanos takes a moment to cast a simple spell of protection. Feeling slighty more secure once the protective shell of magic armor is established, he makes ready and heads out with his companions.

At the sound of laughter, Setanos draws his attention to the two men at the fire. He tries to see what they are up to, and listen for anything out of the ordinary.

Kylean  d20+2=11
Wednesday October 22nd, 2003 8:22:32 AM

That morning Kylean does his job, leading the party along the road. Along the way he briefs the rest of the group:

"According to what I was able to learn before leaving, this school is located in the Red Hills. Be prepared, because the Red Hills are lawless region of brigands, giants, humanoid warbands, and worse. The few pockets of civilisation are halfling villages. Unfortunately, with the other inhabitants, these halflings are notorious for needing help, or rescuing from time to time." He pauses, thinking, then says, "Its fairly likely that some of the halfling families in the Hamlet have cousins or other relatives up in the Red Hills." He shrugs. "It's also worth noting that the giants have retreated into the northern section of the Hills for some unknown reason, and the Dragons of the nearby bay have been very quiet since the Sentinel was repaired."

He gazes down the road, and just before sighting the campfire, he murmurs, "Keep your eyes peeled for an Inn called the Silver Seagull." He falls silent as he sees the campfire ahead, squinting to see what they are up to (Spot Check: 11).

Renik (by Todd)  d20+10=17
Wednesday October 22nd, 2003 10:28:13 AM

As Kiriani leaves the group along the road, Renik smiles back at her. Seems my luck is up for now.

As the group wanders down the road, there is a pronounced swagger to Renik's walk.

"While we camp, I want two shifts of watches. We know we're going into an unknown danger, so I want us to not be caught unawares. Arien, Draax, Feng and I will be on one watch. Rond, Setanos, Kylean, and Tratain will be the other group. If you have any changes let me know. But we're going to have to keep our spell ability up, I think."

In the morning Renik stretches and grimaces with the effort to wake up under short sleep.

When the group hears the small camp, Renik motions for Rond to check it out. (spot 17)(sending Rond is only if the camp cannot be seen by the group. It sounds as if it shouldn't be necessary)

Glad to be out on the road again, even if it's only to chase after mages. Rond quickly scouts ahead and loses himself in the outdoors.

During the night Rond relays to the new people some more information about the machine. (I'm in a rush, see archives for information)

When the next morning comes Rond takes up his scouting spot.

Draax  d20+5=21
Wednesday October 22nd, 2003 12:36:22 PM

Draax is glad to be out in the open again and takes a moment to take in his surroundings. He listens to Kylean's information about the area and Renik's watch schedule.

When the laughter is heard, Draax turns his eye towards the campsite trying to get a better look. (Spot check 21)

From a distance - Dm Ian
Wednesday October 22nd, 2003 6:59:19 PM

Draax, Rond, and Tratain make out that the two men appear to be playing cards atop a crate of some sort. The wind shifts at this point, and a gentle breeze carries the smell of cooking seasoned venison to your nostrils.

You can see no one else, and no signs of ambush.

Draax
Wednesday October 22nd, 2003 8:28:59 PM

Draax silently motions everyone back far enough where their voices will not carry to the two men in the camp.

Not sure if everyone else noticed what he did, Draax says, "there seems to be only two men playing cards while cooking their lunch. I did not see any sign of anyone else, but I do not have enough fingers and toes to count as many ambushes that I have walked into.

Did any of you see anything different and do we make our presence known or try to avoid them?"

Draax waits for the others to respond and a plan to be formulated.

Feng
Wednesday October 22nd, 2003 11:43:56 PM

"If everybody will wait a few moments I will see if evil is present."

ooc: Feng will detect evil. If evil is present he will continue concentrating for two more rounds to get as much information as possible.

(OOC: Detect evil has a range of 60 feet. You are a bit too far away. - Dm Ian)

Setanos
Thursday October 23rd, 2003 7:41:00 AM

Setanos considers the men playing cards, and speaks to the group. "Ya know..maybe I've not been on the road as much as ye all, but may we be making a big fuss over this? Could be that they are truly dark fiends, even now plotting which of us to eat first. But they ah..could be a pair of travlers playing a few hands by the side of the road." Setanos pauses and grins slighty. "'Sides..dark fiend or simple travler, I'm still gonna say lets walk up right up and say hi."

Kylean
Thursday October 23rd, 2003 8:12:04 AM

Kylean grins at Setanos. "Sure. Could be. But if our friends here can determine more from simply watching, isn't that enough to offset the prospect of steel in your chest?" He winks. "Better safe then dead, I say." He returns his gaze to the stranger, waiting for Feng's verdict.

Rond
Thursday October 23rd, 2003 12:06:18 PM

"I'm half expecting that it might be our shapechanging contact and his friend. They did stay in the area, did they not?"

Renik (by Todd)
Thursday October 23rd, 2003 12:08:59 PM

"We've seen and done too much not to have some sort of caution on our part. Rond, Arien, and Senatos, who don't you go in and see what you can find. Call out if you need back up, or want us out in the open. We'll stay behind and see what you find. With the amount of noise their making, I won't be surprised if they're waiting for us. So we might as well find out if their friend or foe."

Tratain
Thursday October 23rd, 2003 1:28:56 PM

Tratain waits for the others to go talk to the two strangers, not really expecting any trouble from them, but prepared incase something happens.

Arien  d20+4=17

Wine, Cards, and song - 2 out of 3... - Dm Ian  d20+8=28
Thursday October 23rd, 2003 5:46:45 PM

Approaching invisibly, Arien discovers the scene to be two men sitting in a impromptu camp. The first is a human male about five foot seven, dressed in light brown leathers, with a shortsword at his belt, and a pendant handing from his neck with a symbol of wardd on it. This man is laughing at a recent card play with the other man, also a human. (description to follow).

The nearby campfire has a grill suspended over it from a tripod, and a haunch of venison is nearly finished cooking. Nearby is a single man tent, and a light riding horse has been tethered to a tree about twenty feet away, and is contendedly munching on some nearby grass.

As Arien moves in, the first male cocks his head, and looks around a bit.

Thelonious
Thursday October 23rd, 2003 9:51:51 PM

The other man is dressed as a noble, yet his boots bear a layer of dust
and mending that no self respecting noble would tolerate. The large jewel on
his pinky ring and the gold chains around his neck are obvious forgeries.
His hair is jet black with flecks of silver and falls in a wave across his
forehead. Above his black, finely waxed, handle-bar mustache his grey eyes study the cards dejectedly. His lips are turned into a slight frown, his hand tugging on his mustache in an act of mild distress. With his grey
flecked hair and young, piercing eyes, it is hard to place an age on him.

He is slender, yet underneath his silk shirt and black trousers you get a
sense of corded muscles and sinew that betray his hardiness, a hardiness
further betrayed by the rapier strapped to his belt.

Setanos AC 19 (Mage Armor)
Friday October 24th, 2003 7:50:12 AM

Confident in his friend ablities, Setanos walks up with the invisible rogue.

Seeing the man cock his head towards what he guesses to be a noise the Rogue made, Setanos trys to cover by calling out in a friendly voice 'Ho there, well met fellow travelers!'

He will then approach the men gregariously, with a smile on his face. 'Dont let me interupt yer game mates, just saw you there and thought I'd come over and say hi.'

Tratain
Friday October 24th, 2003 12:56:49 PM

Tratain watches to see what happens, and if and when Setanos gives the all clear sign he will head over to meet the strangers.

Draax
Friday October 24th, 2003 3:50:47 PM

Draax waits out of sight of the campsite. Not wanting to have all of the group's attention directed on the campsite, Draax keeps his eyes scanning the immediate area, making sure no one sneaks up on them.

Are you in? - Dm Ian
Friday October 24th, 2003 8:13:51 PM

The first man stands, and extends his hand, smiling.

"Good day! My fortune just keeps improving, thank Wardd. Feel free to come on in to the camp. Foods almost done, and the cards are hot. Any of your group happen to gamble?"

Arien
Friday October 24th, 2003 8:45:26 PM

When the stranger proves to be friendly Arien drops his spell while saying, "Only with my life, never my money. Forgive the invisbility but I like to know what the others are holding before I place a bet if you know what I mean. Anyway you can call me Arien, might I inquire after your names?"

Thelonious
Saturday October 25th, 2003 12:16:56 AM

The second man, looks up, suddenly seeing the newcommers. Looking thankful for the distraction, he slyly brushes the cards to the ground, erasing his loss. "Ah," he says, "Now it is time for a new adventure." Peering into the darkness he continues, "Are you alone?" Not waiting for any sort of response, he continues, "Thelonious Carlyle, most humbley at your service." The man bows a little too deeply to be genuine and a smirk plays on his face as if a grand joke has just been played.

((OOC, hello all, glad I could join you!))

Draax
Saturday October 25th, 2003 6:30:12 PM

Noticing the friendly atmosphere, Draax continues to waits for those that went into the camp to call him and the others to join them.

Renik (Carl back from holiday)  d20+25=30 d20+10=22 d20+10=19
Sunday October 26th, 2003 4:54:18 PM

From his vantage point in the foliage Renik keeps a close eye on proceedings as they unfold. He holds his twin shortswords low, nearly at ground level and behind him as he crouches, that no light may glint off them and reveal his position. He peers through the leaves, trying to catch the details of what is taking place (Hide 30, Spot 22, Listen 19). You never can be too careful, he think to himself. His eyes flick to his companions in hiding and with a subtle spread of a hand indicates they should wait for an all-clear.

That said, he hopes things do pan out for the best. It has been a while since he has had a chance to win a hand of cards...

Setanos (Mage Armor)
Monday October 27th, 2003 7:43:16 AM

Setanos doesnt see any danger, and waves the group on over.

Setanos takes the strangers hand and shakes it with a smile. 'Well met friend. Name's Setanos. I'm not much a gambler, but I've been known to play from time ta time. And no, I'm not alone.'

Kylean
Monday October 27th, 2003 8:07:51 AM

Kylean notes Renik's gesture and waits, following his lead.

Tratain
Monday October 27th, 2003 11:46:27 AM

Seeing that the two men seem friendly enough and Setanos wave the group over Tratain walks over to the two men and introduces himself.

He says "Hello there friends, my names Tratain. How are you doing this fine day."

Feng
Monday October 27th, 2003 2:43:33 PM

Feng rides into the campsite pausing a moment to let evryone see the armored half-orc on a large warhoarse. If there were any bandits around, the right look can often pursuade them to behave.

ooc: I understood the campsite was farther away. Actually I was trying to detect evil in the trees at the roadside. Checking to see if there were evil people waiting to ambush us.

Rond

(@#$@#$# computers) :)

Rond quickly brushes into the camp joining the others that are there already. "Though none of us here gamble. You two seem to be taking a big one by making such noise to be heard from the roadside. We just decided to stop and see what the ruckus was all about."

Banter, and witty banter at that - Dm Ian
Monday October 27th, 2003 9:59:18 PM

The gambler looks over Setanos and with a smile.

"Look like some manner of adventurer, eh? I can see the tug of fate on you, pulling this way and that. Of course you gamble!" he says with a grin.

"Whats your game of choice?"

Feng senses no evil from anywhere within detection range, including the trees and stone piles.

Renik
Tuesday October 28th, 2003 2:07:36 AM

Renik rises from the undergrowth, sheaths his weapons, and approaches the encampment with an easy smile upon his face. From his vest pocket he fishes out a pair of dark round spectacles, and puts them on. They seem a sensible way of avoiding the sunlight's glare, and have the added benefit of making him look rather cool.

He bows fancifully as he draws near, and says "Well met, fellow travellers. It is a rare and pleasant thing to meet someone on the road who isn't trying to kill us!

Rond
Tuesday October 28th, 2003 4:49:56 AM

Responding to Renik's comments Rond continues, "We seem to have started a career of doing that."

While various people of the party make their presence known. Rond decides to discreetly peek and poke around the campsite to see if there are any other tracks other than those he knows of.

Setanos (Mage Armor)
Tuesday October 28th, 2003 7:23:05 AM

Setanos chuckles at the gamblers remarks. "Well, ya put it that way and I suppos' I am a bit of a gambler then. Dont really have much a pref'rence when talking bout games that dont involve adventurin."

Draax
Tuesday October 28th, 2003 8:02:32 AM

Draax joins the others in the camp. "Well met, just call me Draax."

Feng
Tuesday October 28th, 2003 10:05:29 AM

Feng stands in the back waiting for some sort of signal that they will be staying or continuing on their journey.

Tratain
Tuesday October 28th, 2003 12:03:59 PM

Tratain asks the two strangers "How long have you been camped at the side of the road here, have many travelers come by?"

Thelonious
Tuesday October 28th, 2003 12:39:29 PM

"Actually I have just met the man myself. While I was much relieved to find him rather than a group of highwaymen, I've discovered my pockets are becomming just as light. I came upon his fire this morning and you are the first I have seen." Thelonious begins twisting his the end of his mustache as he sizes up the group.

Kylean
Tuesday October 28th, 2003 3:06:06 PM

Kylean follows a step or two behind Renik. He watches everyone to make their introductions, but does not do so himself. He remains a pace or so behind the cluster, not really trusting the situation yet. "Gamblers on the road. Smells fishy to me, " he mutters under his breath.

The gambler looks over the group again, as they emerge from the trees and stones. Renik and Kylean notice the man is actually looking past them as his gaze slides past.

"Very interesting... you lot have an interesting amount of luck, good and bad, wrapped around you, even for adventurers. Its like you've gotten tangled up in something bigger than yourself that keeps trying to drag you down,... maybe not to death though, just really bad luck. Haven't seen aura like these in quite a while."

He thinks for a moment, and then looks up at Setanos. "Ahh, but adventuring is the ultimate gamble, you might say. For instance, I don't know where you are going, but without someone like this man here, " he says, nodding at Thelonius, "Wardd judges your luck to be abysmal."

With this he turns back to Thelonius, and says, "Well, if the others won't join us, perhaps one last game between the two of us, and I won't even bend the luck this time."

With that, he grins, and offers a deck of cards in one hand, and some dice in the other.

"The rest of you are welcome to join, if you'd like."

Arien (mage armor)
Tuesday October 28th, 2003 6:48:48 PM

"Ah no thanks, I have better uses for my money than to give it away." Arien says with a smile. "My friends and I here are looking for a campsite though and this one seems suitable, would either of you object to having some company for the night?" Arien gestures the rest of the group in and takes a seat nearby on a rock, waiting for the rest to catch up.

Draax
Tuesday October 28th, 2003 9:37:29 PM

Draax looks hard at the gambler, thinking to himself that this man is obvious more than he seems to be. He wonders to himself if the man is a seer, a higher being, or just a con artist. He decides that it really does not matter, who or whatever the man is, it would probably be in the group's best interest to invite Thelonius to accompany them.

To the man Draax says, "I will decline your invitation to gamble also. If you can read my aura so easily, I would hate to gamble against you."

Thelonious
Tuesday October 28th, 2003 10:03:43 PM

Thelonious looks with a start at the gambler's comments about joining the group, but takes it in stride.

"I would welcome the company. The more the merrier, as they say. I think I myself am done gambling for one day."

Tratain
Tuesday October 28th, 2003 10:38:18 PM

Tratain says "I'd be happy to join you in a friendly game or two, I could use a little excitement without someone trying to kill me. I don't have much skill in most of the games of chance and I have very little in the way of coin i can afford to lose to you, but I would be happy to play a couple games."

Setanos (Mage Armor)
Wednesday October 29th, 2003 7:27:46 AM

Setanos shifts uncomfortably at the mans words, and surpresses an urge to draw his sword off his back.

Liking this encounter less and less, he politely declines the offer to a game.

Kylean
Wednesday October 29th, 2003 9:59:56 AM

Kylean frowns at the stranger's comments about bad luck, then smirks wryly at his invitation to gamble.

"Heh. No." He glances over at Renik. "We should be on our way." He eyes Tratain, clearly thinking that his joining the stranger is a Bad Idea.

Rond
Wednesday October 29th, 2003 12:21:12 PM

"We always seem to be working our way out of bad luck." Looking at Renik, Rond chuckles lightly as he remembers some encounters.

"Why whould Wardd want to help us with just one man? Wouldn't there be other things that he could do for us?"

Renik
Wednesday October 29th, 2003 2:48:56 PM

"Ah Rond!" chides the rogue cheerfully. "Who knows the whims of Wardd?" He looks askance at the stranger, and smiles. "Though I'd vouch this fellow might well do if anyone does. Unless I miss my guess he is a Luck Weaver my friends, sometimes called a Mendicant. They are favored by Wardd, and so (it is said) are those around them. Though I'll admit, sir, you'd not be my first choice of card opponent!"

He turns to Thelonius. "My name is Renik Dacour, and in battle I lead this band. If Wardd deems you our lucky charm I would welcome your company sir, but I would warn you also; the path we tread is a dangerous one indeed. It could very well lead us all to our doom. I would not see you go unwittingly into danger."

He turns back to the gambler. "I would hear more of your insights, Weaver, if you are willing to share them. If the price of that is a few pieces of gold I'll not complain overmuch!"

He turns to his companions, some of whom he is aware are keen to move on from this unusual encounter. But the call of Wardd has lured him, and he is inclined to tarry a while.

"My friends, If it makes you feel any better we might post a sentry or two. But I am inclined to hear more of what this man has to say, and to pit my skill at cards against his luck at them! Won't any more of you join Tratain and I?"

He considers Arien for a moment, and then speaks again.

"I'm not after your coin, and I'm just a man trying to make his way through the tests of the Wold. If you want to offer a trinket, information, an oath, or something else as a bet, I'd be happy to meet you terms, without using my powers."

"For what its worth, I don't want to join you. I just think your future will be... less prosperous if you don't talk to my taciturn friend here," he says, indicating Thelonius with a smile.

Draax
Wednesday October 29th, 2003 8:48:01 PM

"I do not know if it is necessary, but posting a few sentries would make me feel more at ease. Since I am not a gambler I am willing stand watch. As soon as I finish a little of that venison. That is if the invitation to lunch still stands?"

To Thelonius Draax says, "My friend Renik is right about the danger, but you do not look like the type that would shy away from a challenge. So correct me if I am wrong, but I guess we will be traveling together for awhile."

Thelonious
Wednesday October 29th, 2003 10:29:12 PM

"Well met, Renik. If I had any second thoughts about traveling with you, you have just dispelled them. I have unwittingly found myself in worse company, so you needn't worry about me. Whether it be doom or boon, my gypsy soul has forced my hand yet again. I'm afraid I cannot pass up the opportunity to travel with such an interesting mix." Thelonious greets each member into the camp, offering them a seat near the fire.

Feng
Thursday October 30th, 2003 12:01:47 AM

Seeing as they will be staying the night, Feng grabs the few supplies he will need for the night and pats his horses neck.

"Rest up my friend. I shall see you soon." With that said the black war horse fades away in a sparkle of light.

"I shall take the first watch."

Renik
Thursday October 30th, 2003 6:27:30 AM

The rogue grins at Thelonious. "You're of gypsy blood, then? You must tell me of your people, I hear wild tales from time to time, but never from the horse's mouth so to speak."

He pulls up a rock and sits at the fire, nodding in thanks for the invitation. Spying Thelonious' rapier he says "I used to bear a weapon very much like that one. But I eventually switched to the twin shortswords you see here. I still miss the finesse of the rapier though. Just so stylish, don't you think?"

He looks to the Mendicant and smiles. "Well sir, what's your poison? A hand of Three Man Spit? Royal Squares? Fizzban? Or do you prefer the dice? Devil Knuckles or Domi's Ladder, perhaps? I have to say, my own preference in card games would probably be Royal Squares. Though it's been a while since I played."

He fishes out 20 GP from his pouch and places it in front of him. The reflected firelight glints and dances in the black lenses of his glasses, and he grins a grin that can only be described as lupine.

(OOC: Renik will try to steer the game towards one which maximises the opportunity to apply skill and Bluff, and minimises the luck element)

Thursday October 30th, 2003 12:01:01 PM

Tratain says "What kind of information or oath do you seek, there are things I am bond by my honor to not reveal or to promise, but other than that what do you seek?"

When Renik begins naming off games of skill and change Tratain eye's glaze over a bit, having not heard of most of those games or having the faintest idea how to play them.

He says to Renik "You going to have to teach me these games as we go along, I spent most of my youth training with arms and armor, not learning to play cards."

Kylean
Thursday October 30th, 2003 1:40:05 PM

For his part, Kylean stays at the edge of the little gathering, watching his new companions. He seems to be observing how each of them deal with something unexpected, like this Mendicant. He raises a hand to greet Theloneous but says nothing, a small smile and nod of greeting headed his way.

Rond
Thursday October 30th, 2003 2:52:46 PM

"We have a large group here." Looking at Renik and the Mendicant, Rond sighs.

"It looks like we might be a here a little while."

Looking at Thelonius, Rond rolls his eyes as he says, "My name is Rond, and I welcome you to the group. I get this sinking suspicion that you and Renik will become like brothers now."

Looking at the Mendicant Rond mutters, "I wish I knew more about Mendicants. Knowing that Renik likes you, I think that spells trouble, somewhere along the line."

To no one in particular Rond says, "I"m going to must up some group, and make sure we're left alone."

With that, Rond wanders into the forest to look for game and tracks, and see what activity there might have been here in the last 24 hours.

For those that know Rond, he's doesn't appear to be upset. As usual you might say he's just being a fuss bucket.

An explanation - Dm Ian
Thursday October 30th, 2003 7:15:30 PM

As Renik sits down with the gambler, cards are shuffled, and some of the others disperse to check for tracks and enjoy a bit of the cooking venison.

The Mendicant deals one hand out for Royal Squares, and then raises his hand to forestall action.

"If you know of my... calling, then you know about our quests. Since you have proven willing to place yourself in Wardd's graces thrice since coming here, I'd like to show you something that few others see."

With this, the man begins disarming, placing a shortsword and dagger on the table over the cards, taking off a ring, placing a small pouch of coinage on the table, and producing an oddly shaped grey stone as a necklace.

"Its not enough for priests to preach and lead the righteous fight, I think. More than one god looks down on us, and shapes our lives, sometimes in blessing, sometimes testing. No, I think we need to live as examples of our faith and challenge others to think about such things."

"You alot are adventurers, but do you think about purpose? Do you acknowledge that luck as much as skill keeps you alive?"

With that, he states, "So, heres the game. I'm going on a luck quest. You have five cards there. Every card you draw thats two to seven, I keep the item for my quest, with Wardd's blessing. Every card eight to king, you keep the item, because I know you are going to need it where you are going. Every Ace you draw, you give me something of value to aid me on my way."

"Fair enough game, friend?" he says, smiling at Renik. "As agreed, no powers. Wardd would think less of the game, if I did."

(If you agree, roll a d20 for each card. 1 = ace, 2-10 equal card drawn, 11 = jack, 12 = queen, 13 = king, 14-20 reroll.)

Thelonious
Thursday October 30th, 2003 9:35:00 PM

When the question of gypsies is posed Thelonious' eyes seem to drift far away. "I've lived two lives it seems..." snapping to attention with a disarming smile he continues, "The gypsy life has its luxeries to be sure, but I left my troupe at a young age over petty squables. I came under the tutalage of a man by the name of Lord Carlyle, who treated me like a son and gave me a gentleman's education. I left there as well and have spent my days plying my trade, half gypsy, half gentleman," he says as his hand twists the large, gaudy ring on his finger absently.

Looking at his rapier he says, "She has guarded my life well. A gentleman's weapon to be sure. It is one thing to bash your opponents to a bloody pulp with club or oversized cleaver, quite another to be able to unlace his boots with the tip of precision weapon."

As the game begins, Thelonious finds an excellent vantage point to watch the game. He keeps a keep eye out for any sleight of hand or trickery on the part of either participant.

Draax
Thursday October 30th, 2003 9:58:45 PM

Draax sits in a comfortable position as he munches on some of the venison while he halfheartedly listens as the rules of the game becomes known. When he hears what's at stake, Draax puts his full attention to the gamers.

Now Draax knows why he has never heard of a Mendicant. It's because they are crazy. He displays a small smile as he thinks about his private joke.

Interested in the outcome, Draax waits to see if Renik agrees to the strange wager.

Rond
Friday October 31st, 2003 10:17:36 AM

Having done his duties (and presumably finding nothing) Rond returns back to the camp. Hearing the Mendicant talk, tickles Rond into talking.

"But luck is such a hard thing to define for people that have fine tuned their skills. Is it luck that brought the rabbit to my snare, and to get caught? Is it luck that allows my blade to be in the right place to parry a foe's blade? Is it luck to actually pierce a foe's heart when you are trying to kill him? Is it luck when I best my foe just before I fall from exhaustion?

Would an unnamed God like being told he was lucky to have made it? Would we really like to know that it was luck that put him there?

For me, I choose not to think about luck. Because I think I would end up being too sad about the things I would discover."

The rogue's eyes light up at this unexpected turn of fate. "You're on! Those are my kind of odds" he cries, beaming, and rummages through the pockets of his amazing (currently deep velvety maroon) pants. He pulls out a number of items, including a potion, a bag of gold and a pair of rather fine-looking bracers. He turns to Rond.

"Here's luck, my friend. Here, in the turn of these cards, is a power over which none but Wardd may claim dominion. And if the power of luck is alive in these cards, how can it not be so in the rest of our lives? Just because you can't see it, my friend, doesn't mean it isn't there!"

As he speaks he lazily flips a single gold piece. Then, with a sudden flourish and a flick of his wrist the coin vanishes (Sleight of Hand 25). He reaches up and with mock surpise plucks it from his companion's nose.

With a grin he turns back to the Mendicant. With his eyes never leaving the Mendicant's face, he shuffles the deck, and draws 5 cards.

"King.
Queen.
Five.
Seven.
Nine.

Well, my friend, it seems our luck is about even. Though with the odds you gave me I've done rather well out of the deal. I make that three items for me. I thank you for the game sir, most enjoyable!"

The essence of victory is Grace - Dm Ian
Friday October 31st, 2003 9:08:32 PM

The gambler listens to Ronds words with a quick smile, and replies, "Luck is the forces that move beyond our control, and how we hop across those stones in the river. I'll not argue the specific circumstances you found yourself in, but I'd place the division of luck being the success outside the realm of your skill."

With that, he turns to listen to, and watch Renik. The turning of each card widens the man's smile a little larger, and when Renik is complete, he pushes the oddly shaped grey stone necklace, the dagger, and the pouch of coins across the surface of the crate towards Renik.

"No, my new friend, this is but the beginning of the game. I have a wild quest to throw myself into, and you have sent me off in the style Wardd loves. In turn, Wardd has also smiled on you, but you should probably think about where you are going when Wardd sends a luckstone your way."

With that, he stands, and cuts himself a piece of meat from the spit, and gathers up the shortsword and ring. He then turns, and begins walking out of camp, whistling, and with an impudent wink towards Feng.

Feng
Friday October 31st, 2003 11:51:31 PM

Feng watches the man leave wondering just what was going on.

"That necklace should be magicaly identified before worn. Considering the things we have been through lately. Apparent friends have tried to do us harm. A side trip to get that necklace identified wouldn't be over reacting."

Draax
Saturday November 1st, 2003 12:20:25 AM

Draax feels a little disappointed at the card game, it was not as exciting as he thought it would be. He watches the man go and all he can think of is that the man is definitely crazy. He shrugs his shoulder, "Weird, but we all go through life with our own values and beliefs, if this man chooses to let his life be guided by luck, who am I to judge him."

Draax finishes his meal and relaxes before his turn at watch.

Renik

Renik grins at the Mendicant, and as he leaves calls after him "Wardd walk with you, my friend! May serendipity smile upon you!"

At Feng's words the rogue smiles. "I think our recent experiences have left you overly cautious, Feng. It's all right to show a little trust from time to time you know! If the Mendicant called it a luckstone then I for one believe him!"

And with that the rogue pops the necklace over his head, takes a big bite of venison, and winks at Feng.

As he chews he thinks about the daring and faith shown by the Mendicant as he undertakes his Luck Quest. There is a significant part of him that rather wishes he could do the same...

Passing on into the borderlands - Dm Ian
Monday November 3rd, 2003 7:40:47 PM

Setanos finds only the necklace to be magical, radiating a moderate transmutation aura.

Standing around the now empty impromptu camp, the woods and road is quiet around you. The venison is still sizzling on the spit, and nearby is a large loaf of sourdough, and a round of cheese.

Somewhere up the road comes the cry of a hunting hawk. That, and a gentle, wandering breeze reminds you of your proximity to the borders of New Elenia, and the wild, untamed lands northward.

How do you travel northward, and in what order?

Content to watch the banter, Arien leans back and relaxes. He knows that soon they will once again be battling for their lives and while combat was certainly exhilirating Arien valued these moments where he could simply sit down and stare at the sky.

Mr Blind Luck
Tuesday November 4th, 2003 5:07:02 PM

Renik smiles at Rond. "Love is blind, certes, and faith too, so I'm told. But luck? No, never luck, my friend! Fortune favors the brave, and those who would seek Wardd's favor go in with both eyes open!" and he winks, slowly and deliberately, as he wipes his mouth.

He burps softly behind his silk hankerchief, and looks at the sinking sun (OOC: Sorry, folks, I'm not sure what time of day it is!)and juggles his options. If several hours of daylight remain he will suggest they finish their meal and push on. If there is only an hour or two of light left he will suggest they make camp, get some rest (with sentries posted as before) and start early and refreshed on the morrow.

To Thelonious he says "The Mendicant spoke true, Wardd has clearly brought us together. The Silver Seagull Inn is our destination also, though I suspect things might prove a little more hazardous there than you might have thought. Do you mind if I ask what leads you there?"

Though inclined to trust this man, Renik is aware that, given the nature of their mission and their enemy, a degree of caution is advisable.

The area around you remains quiet. The trees are conifers, tall, needle laden and a lush deep green. Within sight are two of the stone piles, one up the road and one down, both clearly arranged by something far beyond human strength. This detail brings to mind stories you have all heard about ogres and giantkin living up north in the Red Hills.

Late afternoon camp - Dm Ian
Wednesday November 5th, 2003 6:13:05 PM

Seeing as how there is only two hours of daylight left, and the consensus of bandit activity and lawlessness north of the border is what it is, the party spends a quiet evening in the clearing with a premade fire, already gathered firewood, and a selection of good food. Short of the inns in Windhorn Hamlet, or Plateau City, its not a bad way to live.

The night itself is quiet, with the occasional animal call, but no other activity. In fact, checking around, Rond finds that the last traveller before the gambler and Thelonius must have been at least a week prior. This seems understandable to Rond, given the lack of places worth trading with up north.

In the morning, you rise, break camp, and head back on on the road. By noon you make it to the official border marker, which consists of a sign carefully lettered in Common, and a few feet away, an immense tree trunk driven into the ground by brute force alone. Carved on the broad face of the trunk are crude depictions of small humanoid figures being clubbed by larger humanoid figures. Charming.

What is the marching order for the last two days travel northward, and do you take any special precautions?

A grisley find - Dm Ian
Thursday November 6th, 2003 8:13:20 PM

Just about at dusk the second day, the vegetation about the road thins a bit, and just on the other side about eighty feet away, Rond can see the signs of a recent battle.

Looking around as the rest of the group moves up, Rond finds a set of tracks, four humans coming out of the wilderness to the west, and moving up the road towards the site of the battle. One was leading a small horse or pony, and the other three were walking in a protective screen. The three were heavily loaded, and their tracks reveal that their gear included plate sabatons strapped over the boots.

In the clearing ahead, Rond, as well as Feng and Setanos as they move up next, can see what remains of a flattened camp. A small tent has been annihilated by the tell tale crater of a fireball, and the pitiful, broken corpses of halflings lie scattered about.

More detail will require a closer search.

Slipping into the shadows he approaches the closest of halfling bodies to determine anything he can-- occupation, age, sex, or perhaps their reason for being here. Should things seem safe, he will search the bodies for marks, injuries, and items.

The storm, passed - Dm Ian
Friday November 7th, 2003 7:44:26 PM

Fanning around the destroyed camp, the group is able to piece the event together.

About eight hours ago, the four humanoids that Rond found tracks for earlier, entered this camp. They were met by about a dozen halflings just rising from slumber, with food on the campfire. The first event was probably the fireball that blew apart the tent and killed a number of the halflings. The halflings at this point seemed to bolt in all directions.

Some were brought down by bowfire. Some were fleeing at a dead run, and were stopped by something in their tracks, and then hacked down as they stood. The position of those bodies indicate they weren't running when they were killed. They were running, the froze in midstep, and then they were killed and fell directly to the ground.

The most disturbing part, even worse than the thoroughness the camp was dismantled and searched, is the dragging, halfling sized steps heading out of the fireball crater. The outline of where bodies had lay and bled out is obvious, but the corpses are missing, and the dragging footsteps start at that point.

Rond finds track, only about four hours old, leading northward. There appear to be the four humans, one leading a horse on the road itself, and paralleling the road on one side, a half dozen sets of the halfling-sized, awkwardly stiff footsteps.

There are no other signs around the camp, or indications of other parties.

Tratain and Setanos notice that there is no indication of the halflings fighting back. There are no charging footsteps, no missile weapon impacts towards the incoming tracks, and no groups of halflings fallen having defended something.

Arien continues to keep a look out while he waits for those who investigated the camp to come back and relay what they found.

"Clearly somebody has also discovered what has happened. I think we should venture north and find the creatures that did this and give them what they deserve."

Thelonious
Sunday November 9th, 2003 12:38:58 AM

Thelonious stays with Renik and Rond, his crossbow in hand. "What purpose would this serve? Why would someone slaugter a camp of halflings?" he says in a fierce whisper.

Renik
Sunday November 9th, 2003 4:45:35 PM

The rogue looks aboutat the scene of slaughter, his face distorted by anger and distaste. This is a low, low deed. He is glad his good friend Bill Troublefinder is not here to witness such carnage visited upon his kinfolk.

To Thelonius he points at the departing shuffling footprints of halflings supposedly killed in the fireball blast. "There's your answer my friend. The perpetrator of this act would appear to be some Necromancer in need of undead servants to complement whatever thugs he travels with. His ultimate purpose I cannot guess, but it is certainly nefarious.

He ponders a few moments, weighing their immediate mission with this new event. Though they have a job to do the sheer callousness of such an act makes his blood boil. For once he and Feng are of like mind on matters moral.

"I know we have a task at hand, but I suggest we put it aside for the present. I suggest we follow these murderous scum and put an end to their evil. And in truth we may not be deviating so much from our mission. Consider this; we come to the Red Hills seeking a school for dark mages. Here we see evidence of a dark mage at work. It could well prove that the two are linked. Indeed, if we are able to capture and succesfully question this necromancer, we may be able to learn more of our ultimate goal."

He waits to see if anyone is particularly averse to this plan, then suggests they move out in pursuit.

"Does anyone have the facility to scry or remote view further along the path? That way we might locate and keep tabs on our quarry. They can't be going that fast with a gang of undead halflings in tow."

Tratain
Sunday November 9th, 2003 5:01:31 PM

Tratain says "Aye Renik, I was thinking much of the same. It may be just a coincidence but the way the attack seems to have happened reminds me very much of how that Catacombs Caravan was attacked. And even if these men have nothing to do with our mission, I would be very uneasy traveling on when we are not so far behind those that did this so we can stop them from doing the likes of this again."

Setanos(Mage Armor)
Monday November 10th, 2003 7:35:33 AM

Setanos tries to remain calm despite the anger inside him at such a slaughter.

"If I be reading what you said right, they attacked about eight hours ago, but only left about four? Sides making foul things, I wonder what else the attackers were doing here."

He shakes his head at Renik's question. "I've no such magic's in me book, sorry. As for tracking them down, there's no question in me mind 'bout that. Lets go."

Kylean's face is impassive, but his jaw sets with resolve.

"I agree. Let's find this scum."

Rond
Monday November 10th, 2003 4:32:10 PM

(sorry for delay. Motorcycle accident Sunday night. I'm fine, a little sore. No major medical bills. :) Can't wait for new motorcycle! ;) )

Seeing all the details lying in the sand. Rond sighs at the carnage that was visited. When Renik mentions their old friend, Rond winces hoping that Bill has nothing to do with the group.

"Keep in mind that that is similar to what happened to the sea elves. I wouldn't be surprised to see that this might be the same person, replacing what they lost because of us."

And on to the destination - Dm Ian
Monday November 10th, 2003 6:03:42 PM

The group makes better time than expected up the road after their quarry, and by sunset, Rond believes the group is only perhaps an hour and a half, or two hours behind the marauders. The weather is calm, with a clear sky and light winds, so there is little danger of rain wiping out the trail. However, the moon is only the barest crescent, falling into the new moon tomorrow night.

According to the map from the sahuagin, Renik figures that if the group pushed on, the could get to the Silver Seagull by midnight. However, the road is increasing shrouded in pine trees, and the stone pilings are continuing to occur along the road. Night time travel would make it harder to anticipate a possible ambush.

Do you push on, or camp?

Draax
Monday November 10th, 2003 9:39:17 PM

Seeing how the night will make it very easy to set an ambush on the road, Draax hesitates a moment before voicing his opinion.

"I hate making it easy for my enemies and if the group we are pursuing has any idea that we are behind them. It will be easy for them to set up an ambush in the darkness.

We might lose the distance that we gained on them if we wait until morning. So, if we can still track them during the night I vote we take a chance and continue."

He looks around at the others waiting to hear what they think of the situation.

Tratain
Monday November 10th, 2003 11:39:31 PM

As it gets dark Tratain puts on his goggles of night so that he is able to see better.

He says "I think we should push on, if they know we are following it is possible that they will set up an ambush, but on the other hand, if it is thier plan to lay in waiting when we don't show up in a couple hours they may come looking for us. I'd say ambushed while we are all up and on the lookout is preferable to ambushed while most of the group is asleep.
Besides if we don't encounter them before too long we'll hit the inn we are looking for. It may be that that is their destination also, if they are not there then it probably means we lost thier tracks somewhere in the dark and we should get some rest before setting out again to find them."

Feng
Monday November 10th, 2003 11:57:20 PM

"The descision to stay or go both have drawbacks. I don't care either way since I can see just fine in the dark."

ooc: how many of the group posses low light or darkvision? since there is a moon out low light should work.

Arien (mage armor)
Tuesday November 11th, 2003 12:59:46 AM

"Well I vote for continuing on, I've little love for necromancers and I say the sooner the foul thing is destroyed the better, besides we may be able to get some more information on our destination from him or his belongings."

(ooc: Arien has low light vision.)

Thelonious
Tuesday November 11th, 2003 2:45:21 AM

Thelonious smirks and adds, "Count my voice among the chorus. Let us push on. Our enemy may not expect us to overtake them so quickly."

Kylean
Tuesday November 11th, 2003 8:06:53 AM

Kylean grins and whines like a little child. "But..but...my feet are tired! And I wanna sleep...!" He winks. "Just kidding, gentlemen. Pushing on with the only thing that makes sense."

Renik
Tuesday November 11th, 2003 9:16:10 AM

The rogue nods. "Very well gentlemen, let us continue. I want those with low light vision on point, everyone else keeps your ears open." He is not particularly pleased at being forced into such a vulnerable position, but if they are to stand a chance of catching up with their quarry they must act now.

Setanos (Mage Armor)

Setanos marches in line behind those with low light vision.

Rond
Tuesday November 11th, 2003 10:22:17 AM

Having heard where the majority are inclined. Rond patiently waits for thier leader to make a decision.

"If we figure that they know we are coming. Then we should take our time, and come upon them just before dawn, when they might be the most tired."

A unanimous, not so forced march - Dm Ian
Tuesday November 11th, 2003 7:20:46 PM

Grimly, the party marches on through the night, Tratain and Rond scouting to the sides, and ahead of the party, respectively.
The next few hours are tense, and quiet, but nothing leaps from the shadows.

Right at about midnight, the road begins to widen, and Rond, ahead of the group, hears a distant burst of laughter. Creeping ahead slowly, the party comes around the next bend, and gets a look arond a particularly large rock pile at the corner of the road.

About two hundred yards up the road in a clearing lies a well lit inn. The front door is hanging open, casting a semicircle of firelight out into the night, and illuminating a nearby stables. Behind the inn about fifty feet lies a cliff-like drop-off to the sea, the waves audible as a gentle thunder even at this range. Just over the front door hangs a colorful sign depicting a silvered bird soaring over blue.

Renik realizes in the dark that the scale on the map taken from the sahuagin must have been a little off.

Scouting around, Rond finds the trail the group is following leads directly towards the inn, with the dragging footsteps of the undead halflings peeling off about where you are now, to march towards the nearby cliff.

Faintly, the group can hear a song verse start up in the inn, a cacophony of drunken voices.

Feng slowly rides forward and stops infront of the inn. He dismounts but does not tie his hoarse off. One advantage of a mount provided by the gods is that they never run off. He stands and waits for the others.

Setanos tries to make out the door a little clearer, seeing if its in some way broken off its hinges.

"What do the tracks say Rond? Did they come ta the inn or go around?"

Rond
Wednesday November 12th, 2003 10:44:02 AM

Speaking lowly to the group, "hmmm. The halflings seems to have taken off in that direction (away from the Inn). I would guess that the spell caster is probably in the Inn. But that's hard to tell for sure."

Renik  d20+10=20
Wednesday November 12th, 2003 12:27:47 PM

Renik looks at his companions. A formidable looking lot to be sure. But right now he rather wishes that they didn't look quite so... noble. If they are to enter this place without attracting undue attention they will need to do something about their appearance.

"My friends, I suggest this; as we appear now we look like nothing other than a band of gallant adventurers. That look may not best suit us where we are going. If we are to learn anything of our quarry we need to blend in, seem a little less conspicuous. I suggest we roughen up a bit, disguise ourselves as a slightly less wholesome version of ourselves. If we can come across as rather disreputable swords for hire perhaps we can learn more of prospective employers in the area."

He looks with some discomfort at the assorted Paladins, Protectors and other noble warriors before him. "I know this subterfuge might sit ill with you, but it might well be our best chance to gain an insight into our foe. It might be best if you, um, perhaps hid some of those Holy Symbols?"

Renik changes the color of his pants to a tatty matt black, and works with his disguise kit for a few minutes. The effect is quite uncanny (disguise 20): although it is obviously still Renik, the addition of shadow around the eyes, stubble, yellow teeth and mussed up hair makes him look considerably less cultured. He stands, and even his stance and gait have changed. Gone is his normal elegance. In his place stands a rough, uncouth looking fellow, quite clearly some sort of mercenary.

"Right" he growls, spitting at the ground. "Let's go get us an ale!"

Tratain
Wednesday November 12th, 2003 4:03:45 PM

Tratain Says "We may want to consider going and destroying the undead before we go enter the inn. It may draw them out into the open so we can fight them, I'd rather not fight in the inn where innocents may be in danger."

Upon hearing Renik's Suggestion Tratain says "I think it will be difficult to disguise Feng and I, It may be best if we wait outside. If there's trouble we can be at the door and Inside very quickly."

Thelonious  d20+14=33
Wednesday November 12th, 2003 6:02:20 PM

Thelonious looks on with obvious disgust while Renik changes his appearance. "Make myself look like a common... commoner?" he asks almost incredulously. Despite his trepidation, Thelonious realizes that in this case, it is the will of the group and it's time to show how he can be useful. Thelonious pulls out his own disguise kit, and while he has no false teeth, he uses some polish to blacken a few out. With a long sigh, he combs out his mustache to make it look unkempt and instead adds his grooming wax to his hair to make it appear unwashed. He follows Renik's example, adding bags under his eyes and a yellow pallor to his skin. Grumbling during the whole process, phrases of his speech can be heard under his breath. Those close by distinctly hear words like "unnatural", "embarrassment", and "perfectly good facial hair." Once done with his face he stands there a moment, appearing ready... not realizing he still wears his silk shirt and black trousers. With a look down and a slight groan he quickly moves behind some shrubbery to remove these items, and reappears wearing only his traveling leathers. The whole process slowly transforms him into a man you hardly recognize. The disguise seems to cause him much discomfort, but only adds to the total impression of a man at the bottom rung of the social ladder. "Let's do this then," he says with a shiver, "It will be the first time I've ever used a disguise to fit in with the less fortunate."

(Disguise = 33)

Draax
Wednesday November 12th, 2003 6:05:37 PM

Draax listens to the suggestions and has no problem with the idea of disguising himself. His time working for Marcus has made going around in disguise almost second nature to him.

Listening to Tain and looking over at Feng, Draax has to agree. A paladin will always be a paladin no matter what he looks like.

"Sounds like a good plan to me, at least until we get a feel for the people that are inhabiting the inn."
