Andrath leads the group in a southerly directon along the Spice Trail. The elf maintains a steady vigil as they travel and no threats emerge. Lorth follows some 40 feet behind at the front of the main party. Elerinn, Alkali and Cassandra stay in the middle while Cadmar and Kedarn trail behind, watching for stragglers.
[OOC an initial set of spot and listen rolls is fine. Re-roll for posted watches and the beginning of a new day etc.]
The trail winds through forest, following the topography, slowly climbing through mixed forest and finally into coniferous forests by late day. The snow is deeper now and without Lorth breaking a trail for them, Alkali and Elerinn might have trouble making their way through it.
Temperatures start to drop as the sun begins to fall towards the horizon. The warmth created by your own physical exertions throughout the day turns to chill. Cassandra begins to lag and those close to her can see her obvious fatigue.

Lorth says, "Perhaps we should find some shelter for the evening. It looks like Cassandra is weary, and I could use some rest myself."

Elerinn agrees with Lorth and is glad someone proposes to find some shelter. Cassandra is not the only one who is weary, the short gnome has had a hard time making his way through the snow today.

"Lets make camp and get some shelter up. We need to find some dead wood for a small fire so that we can get something warm to eat and drink." Kedarn calls out.
Kedarn will set up his tent when the group has found a place to camp. When finished Kedarn will start to help wiht the small fire and heat some food and water.

Feeling tired, Alkali lightens up at the sound of camp. "I'll help make camp, but about the fire... will that attract unwanted attention? After all, the Satyr's came before."

Feeling a little sheepish, Andrath puts away his longsword, and readies his longbow and arrows, as he moves on ahead of the party.
As the sun starts to go down, Andrath looks to the outdoor enthusiasts in the party to find a safe place to set up camp. He wraps his cloak more tightly around himself, and moves off in search of downed wood for a fire. "I sure hope that someone here can magically start a fire, or we may be in trouble."

The ranger takes his backpack and other gear off his back and stretches. "Its winter time, I'm afraid we have to light a small fire. The temperature might drop even more during the night."
"Let's find a sheltered area, preferably somewhere where the ground is lower than everywhere else, and try to start a fire that doesn't produce too much smoke."
Having said what came to his mind, Cadmar offers his spare cloak to Cassandra and busies himself with collecting dead wood.

A small clearing is located and Lorth stands guard while a weary Cassandra, Elerinn and Alkali wait. Kedarn sets up his tent, then searches along with Andrath and Cadmar for dead and downed branches to make a fire.
Kedarn boils a small pot of water, and cooks the modest meal, while Cadmar shows concern for the silent Cassandra.
As the sun sets, the temperature dips further. A slight wind picks up, making it feel colder than the actual temperature. The trees stand out darkly against the snow, as the moon starts it's ascension.

Elerinn suggests he takes the first watch, he feels cold but not really tired. The poor gnome tries to sit as close as possible to the fire and wrabs his sleeping back around him for some more warmth. He holds Qamaro close to his body, afraid the small raven is even more touched by the cold. Looking at the moon, he hopes tommorow will bring more fortunate weather.

"Lets take the same watches as last time." Kedarn suggests to the others. Afterwards Kedarn will have some warm food and drink then wrap himself up in his bedroll and get some rest until his watch.
Kedarn will walk around the edge of the camp every so often during his watch.

Andrath takes his turn on watch, keeping moving to keep awake and keep warm. He continues to feed wood to the small fire, and knocks the snow off the tent, if it builds up. If his watch in uneventful, he quickly makes his way back to his spot near the fire, huddling into his cloak and trying to keep warm and dry.

Cadmar stands silent during his watch, mesmerized by the silent forest resting under the blanket of snow. Every once in a while he steals a glance at the sky, trying to recognize familiar constellations. It's been a long while since he spent a night in woods during winter - last time it hs been with his dad and older brother and -
Cadmar shakes off the stirring memories, tosses another small branch in the fire, and concentrates on keeping watch.

The small halfling requests his hawk to keep watch. Then coming close to the fire he falls fast asleep.
