The mage helps the the Talon's new elven ally - at least apparent ally - into the ruined building once it has been checked for "vagrants". Once they set camp he shares some of his gourmet rations with her. "I make these for the trips. I am a chef of sorts, but have no real way to pursue that passion but to make the travels of the group here a bit more comfortable - at least in a culinary sense.". He watches the woman carefully, appearing interested in her from more than just a casual way. "So what brings you to this place?".
Ingrge 3d8(1+8+8)+5=22 3d8(4+8+8)+5=25 Monday January 19th, 2004 9:03:10 AM
Ingrge happily accepts two more wand applications and is soon no longer limping and looks almost cheerful.
Listening and watching Ingrge stays near but doesn't intrude on Figment's conversation with Elise.
Olana Monday January 19th, 2004 1:43:48 PM

A little disconsolate that Gimp has taken Orson away, Olana gives a big sigh and then hugs Milo tightly. "You know for a moment back there.."

Looking up at Olana, "I'm only sorry I wasn't more help. Something about the undead that still creep me out... remember my first adventure with the Talons? I do... that house was... unthinkable."
Brother Bertram Monday January 19th, 2004 9:52:43 PM
Bertram keeps a sharp lookout while waiting for healing.
(OOC Bertram had taken 56 points of damage but cast a cure Crit that was dampened. I am not sure how many that healed Kent. Just let me know!)

Elise seems to meld into the group fairly smoothly and as the group starts setting up camp see immediately starts helping out where she can. She is very aware of Lian's where-abouts and keeps half an eye on him wherever she is. her other eye is kept on Figment and she stays engaged with his conversation.
"Oh thank you. It has been a while since I have had anything other than dried trail rations and water to eat and drink. And I an hardly what you could even pretend to call even a campfire cook."
As Figment asks what she is doing here, her face goes dark and cold for a moment and then there is a slight sad , stoney look on her face.
"I guess I am the last member of our group to remain. We came seeking some of the treasures of our ancient ancestors. I lost my two brothers and a cousin two days ago to a Fang Dragon, while I watched, helpless to aid them."
As she relays this tale several tears escape the corners of her eyes,, but she blinks them away almost immediately.
"So how is it that you come here seeking, using a, device made by those who once lived here?"
[b](OOC: Ok all you have four hours of game time. Let me know what you are planning on doing during this time or if you are going to make any specific plans for your Holee descent)

The mage nods and sympathizes as she tells her tale. "We have come here on a mission to retrieve something for our government. We chased another group in who stole the 'compass' and we recovered it. Now we must get the object and get out. Pretty tough assignment so far...". As they dine he offers "I'm sorry about your group...So where are you from?".

Olana gives herself another couple of healing hits with the stick (32HPs?), then asks Bertram if he needs any.
She smiles at Milo. "It was okay, I was glad you weren't getting hurt."
After munching on some rations, she looks over toward the hole, glad her eyes are drawn that way, for it avoids her having to look toward Elise, who was beginning to irritate her. Why? She doesn't know. Was she taking that battering from the skeletons personally? After all - if they hadn't rescued little Miss Batting Eyelashes here - WHO incidentally had forced them to come here, then they'd be in a lot better shape. Ooh my, she thinks, shaking her head. This is not like me. This is not like me at all.
"I wonder what could have made a hole like that?" she asks the others, squinting toward the Maw for another look. ((Spot DC26, Survival DC 29 for any hints as to what could have made it and how deep it might be.)) "How much rope have we got? I've got 50ft."
Ingrge Wednesday January 21st, 2004 10:27:28 PM
Ok all I think it is necessary that we do a little planning over the next few hours. I can't speak for Figment but most of my offensive spells are used up so we need to take stock of what we do have so we can best use our resources in what lies ahead. I took a bit of time before we left to purchase quite a few scrolls and perhaps Figment and I should cast them on the people who might benefit the most from them.
I have 4 stone skin, 4 foxes cuning, 4 bear's endurance, 6 cat's grace, 2 eagles spleandor, 6 bulls srtength 4 owl's wisdon and six haste spells.
Milo Wednesday January 21st, 2004 10:28:23 PM
Looking earnestly at Olana, "That hole? Groudhogs... big ones." Milo's face breaks into a grin, and the halfling rogue keeps both eyes on Olana, drinking in the sight.
DM Kent Wednesday January 21st, 2004 10:39:10 PM
Again glancing over at Lian, Elese answers Figment's question. "Oh, we were all from the area around Tumblevoid in New Ellena. We recieved a message telling us what we were expected to do and we went."
As Olanna asks her questions Elese turns to the young ranger.
" Oh I expect that we will all to soon be finding out what made that hole. But judging by the size of it, I would have to say it was something quite large. Oh and judging by the drop, it can probably fly too. Don't you think?" sending a brief condescending smile Olanna's way, she turns her full attention on Figment for a moment.
"Sooo, Tell how did you manage to make this travel food so absolutely divine? I have never had any quite like this before. I think you could truly make some good money just opening a shop and selling these."
After Figment's reply, Ingrge strides into the middel and in is gruff manner makes his thoughts known. He then awaits input from the others.
Elese appears to be some sort of mage as she is wearing no armor and carries a staff. She to all appearances looks to be an elf
Lian Thursday January 22nd, 2004 3:06:56 AM
Lian returns Elese's glance.
He goes to Ingrge and asks for a Bull's Strength and a Bear's Edurance. A Haste spell later if we enter combat.

The mage rolls through his geography to see if he's ever heard of some place named Tumblevoid... He explains his method of preparing rations - with a few hidden secrets all chefs have and decides to engage in conversation and not give any indication he is suspicious. "I am not looking forward to meeting anything that might be in that hole. Maybe we'll be lucky - but I doubt it...".
Milo Friday January 23rd, 2004 12:56:49 AM
Milo closes his eyes momentarily, thinking of the last time he slept well enough. Then opening his eyes, he pops up from where he is sitting, he moves over to the hole and peers down in.
Olana Friday January 23rd, 2004 7:51:29 PM
Olana's grin at Milo's joke fades, and with a sigh, the elf responds to Elise - "I was hoping to try and be more specific than that."
She asks Ingrge for Cats Grace and Bulls Strength, trying to shake off her growing feeling of animosity to the newcomer. Something quite large, my left pointed ear.... Oooh dear, now she was starting to behave like her cousin.
Ingrge Saturday January 24th, 2004 2:02:24 PM
waiting to see what else people might request from his stash of scrolls, Ingrge adresses those still in the building.
"We will wait for Milo to return to give us an idea about the hole and the best possible way to descend. Meanwhile is there anyone here who has a method of flying still available and can carry another person with them?" I also have a couple of potions that aid in climbing if we can't all manage to fly down." I also think that depending on what we find down there we conduct a methodical and efficient a search as we can. I would again suggest that we work in pairs Milo and I will take the front Gigmant you will be behind Milo and Lian behind me in the middle and Bertram will be behind Lian and next to Olanna bringing up the rear.
Ingrge - Milo Lian - Figment Bertram - Olanna
If we get the chance to spread out I would suggest an arc with Bert and olanna at the center with Lian and Milo at the two ends and Figment and myself between.
Lian,Ingrge,Bertram,Olanna,Figment,Milo
We don't know what we are to face and we are low on spells so it is likely that we may need to try some out of the ordinary tactics. Keep on your toes and don't be afraid to try something new and different."
Turning to Elese he continues.
"Now jabbress, I know not how, where or even if we should include you in this forray. I don't like unknowns and you are if nothing else a noamuth. I don't want any brorna as we join in combat. There is an old saying that has long proven to be true, that goes like this. Sarn lil velg'larn's inthen. That being the case, how is it that we should best use you."

DM Kent Monday January 26th, 2004 9:10:07 PM
Milo's journey over to the hole is somewhat fruitful, as he is sure that the only two ways that anyone is getting down that hole are by climbing/rapellig or flying. and while breathable the air emanating from the gaping orafice is not at all what you might call pleasant.
Figment has heard of Tumblevoid in his travels through the middle plateau and seems to recall that it is near or in the monster preserve.
Lian catches Elese's eye a few times and is rewarded with a wink and an ocassional nod and smile.
As Ingrge begins his piece he captures everyone's attention and then befuddles most of you with his use of several apparently nonsensical words during his comments to Elese.
It is possible that the elven lass looked up a bit suprised when these words were used, but it is hard to say.
When Ingrge finishes with his saying, she blankly looks him in the eye and asks.
"And what does that saying mean, if I might ask?"
"Now, as to how I might be of aid in you upcoming endeavor? I am very capable with my staff and I have the use of several other suprises as well, including a spell or two that I have remaining."
Milo Monday January 26th, 2004 10:08:31 PM
Milo comes back slowly from the hole holding his nose, "Oy it smells something horrible. I'd recommend flight for those of you who can, as it doesn't look an easy climb. If you have some long ropes perhaps rappeling would be safer." Plopping down next to Olana, Milo begins digging in his backpack and quickly produces a pair of fine black leather slip-on shoes. He pulls off his elven boots and puts them into his backpack, lacing it down tight, and then puts the leather shoes on in their place. "As for me, I'd prefer not to be tethered down, if we can work that out. It'll be easier for me to protect ya'll if I can let my spider shoes here do the walkin' while I keep an eye on our... interests... if'n ya know what I mean."
Brother Bertram Tuesday January 27th, 2004 10:08:56 AM
Bertram listens to the exchange between Elese and Ingrge thoughtfully as he sharpens his axe, checking for any notches in the blade after the encounter with the undead creatures.
Olana Tuesday January 27th, 2004 7:28:32 PM
The elf nods at Ingrge's suggested battle order, then raises an eyebrow at some of his words to Elise. Was that drow she just heard? Maybe he was feeling a bit weird about this person too. "Nice shoes," she whispers to Milo. "How far down did it look? I expect we'll need more rope."
She asks the others if they have any, and then - if she can get Ingrge out of Elise's earshot, she'll ask him about what he thinks of their rescuee.
Figment Wednesday January 28th, 2004 12:00:19 PM
Pondering things that have been said and unsaid, Figment stands. I have a flying spell left which will let me carry one additional person down. Milo has his boots. Ingrge you said you have two spider climb potions. That leaves two if we are including Elese in this venture. Ingrge, I will aid in casting some of the scrolls when we get ready to head out.
Lian Wednesday January 28th, 2004 12:06:40 PM
Looking around at the others Lian's eyes keep being drawn back to Elese almost as if he can't help it. There is just something about her..., she's not what you would call beautiful, and yet....
Lian comes out of his reverie to find Elese's looking at him with questioning look upon her face. Quickly, as if to hide his uncomfortableness, Lian ads to the conversation. "I am afraid that I have nothing to aid with our descent."
Lian (Jay B) Thursday January 29th, 2004 3:57:46 AM
OOC: I have a new machine, I should not have problems for awhile.

Taking a quick peek shows a group of five 2-foot tall, green pustulant, spikey horned, winged humanoids with very long clawed hands and feet. They are hunting for something for every now and then several put their noses to the ground and sniff like they are trying to find a scent.

After having cast the appropriate scrolls on the proper recipients, Ingrge waits for the right moment and sends everyone to the hole's opening to preare for descent. Keeping one of the spider clmb potions himself, he hand the other to Bertram and waits for Figment to cast his flying spell.
Ingrge also takes this time to set a rope firmly around a tree and then sets a spike into the tree to hold it firmly for anyone who may need to climb. Looking around he motions the group foward and down.

Figment Tuesday February 3rd, 2004 8:24:32 PM
"And one other thing. I can come back up and get someone else if we wish to risk being split a few moments. Risky but possible...".
Ingrge Tuesday February 3rd, 2004 9:46:37 PM
Ingrge and Figment finish up their scroll reading.
Olanna - cats grace, bulls strength Lian - bulls strength and bear's endurance Ingrge - cats grace and stone skin, spider climb potion Figment - Bears endurance snd foxes cunning Bert - owls wisdon and stone skin, spider climb potion Milo - Bears endurance and stone skin
"Figment, why don't you take Lian down and then if needed you can come back and aid the ladies climbing the ropes." While I would rather not split up..." he trails off.
DM Kent Tuesday February 3rd, 2004 9:59:34 PM
The climb down is 60 feet so there is a 15 foot drop once you reach the end of the rope ladies.
Bert and Ingrge drink their potion and are endowed with the spider climb ability for 30 minutes, and along with Milo start their way down the sides. The sides of the hole are quite strange feeling and every so often pieces of the walls crumble as if ash under your fingers. As you each descend the light gets dimmer and dimmer until you reach the bottom where the humans cna just barely make each other out in the dim light.
Figment flies down with Lian and is soon joined by the spider climber and then aids the ladies down the last 15 feet safely.
The temperature down here does seem slightly warmer and there is a slingt sulphuric smell as well.
There are small brittle things under you feet as you walk, and if you investigate them, you find a multitude of small skeletal remains.
Through further exploration you also find that there is only one passage forward and it is almost 30 ft wide and as far as you can tell, nearly that high.
Olana (Cats Grace, Bulls Strength) Tuesday February 3rd, 2004 11:13:30 PM
Hiding her irritation at being such a klutz at climbing down the rope, Olana gratefully accepts any help given, so she'll arrive at the bottom of the hole with minimum cuts and bruises.
Crouching, she examines the floor of the cave in an attempt to assess what kind of small animal remains these are - and what beast would like to eat them. "Before we go any further," she asks quietly, "if this a dragon or something, down here, do we have a plan? I mean what if the thing we're after is part of its treasure horde? That suggests a direct confrontation, or being extremely sneaky. Thats 'if' its a dragon of course."
Milo (bear's endurance, stoneskin) d20+23=34 d20+26=38 d20+14=26 Wednesday February 4th, 2004 12:17:33 AM
Moving up next to Olana, "If it is a dragon, I'll be sure to give you fair and proper warning my sweet. My screams shall by sufficient... yes?" Elese Wednesday February 4th, 2004 8:26:04 AM
While not quite batting her eyes, as that would not be dignified, Elese almost simpers with pleasure as Lian offers his aid with the holes descent. "I see that chivalry is not totally nissing from this world after all. It is so nice to see in these uncivilized times. She punctuates her speech with a light kiss on Lian's left cheek.
Brother Bertram Wednesday February 4th, 2004 1:41:55 PM
Bertram keeps an eye ahead and his axe readied, searching for any signs of recent movement in the remains below his feet.
DM kent Wednesday February 4th, 2004 9:43:37 PM (Ok everyone we are now dealing with nearly no light now so unless you have a way to see your vision is now ranging from limited to negligable.)
Olanna takes a gander in the low level light to try and determine what she can from the plethora of skelatal remains and find that there are any number of different type of animal remains to be found, but the super majority of them seem to be mammals ranging from rat to small humanoid. Many of the bones are extremly brittle and disintigrate on contact, as if they had been baked in an extremely hot fire or bathed in very potent acid.
For the first time in a while Bertram gets no sense of any sort of undead beings any where close by.
Milo starts down the passage with Ingrge at his side with the others following behind in the double column order only Elese steps into the middle rank between Lian and Figment. while Bertram and Olanna bring up the rear.
The passage is littered with what apparently are more bones, but you can't tell for sure without stopping to check. the passage remains the basically the same size as far as you can tell and goes straight for nearly 100 feet in the direction of where the white tower was located. The passage then takes a very sharp ninety degree right turn, and then continues on into the dark.
Figment (Fly) Wednesday February 4th, 2004 11:13:37 PM
As they move into the darkness the mage whispers "I have torches, do we risk them? I know some of you can see without them. I cannot. Maybe someone go forward first before we continue...". The mage looks at the compass in the failing light, hoping it will help them a bit more...
Lian Thursday February 5th, 2004 6:04:18 AM
"Figment, perhaps a low light spell, like those dancing lights?" He says quietly.
Brother Bertram Thursday February 5th, 2004 3:57:36 PM
Bertram stoops, picking up a handful of the bones as they walk, eyeing it to see if anything looks familiar. Upon hearing Figment and Lian's discussion, Bertram moves closer to the front, trying to allow the others behind some light without giving up any advantage he might have in this strange underworld.
Olana (Cats grace, Bulls Strength) d20+13=17 d20+17=23 Thursday February 5th, 2004 7:42:58 PM
"Fire.... or acid," whispers the elf to the others after a look at the ground. "That would explain the damage on the tunnel walls, too."
She gives a sigh. Great.
"I think a bit of light won't do any harm. Whatever is down here might be able to smell us already."
Staying to the rear, she keeps her eyes and ears peeled, looking up and down as well as left and right.

Ingrge Thursday February 5th, 2004 10:05:26 PM
"Ok then, lights front and rear. We all need to see, and all of us can with light. Olanna is right, whatever is down here seems to be a carnivore, and as such probably has all ready sniffed us out. There is no need for us to be stumbling around in the dark, so lets get a few torches or lanterns lit."
DM Kent Thursday February 5th, 2004 10:18:30 PM
Figment gets out a few of his torches and pases them around and then they are soon lit.(let me know how many are being lit.
The licking flames cast dancing shadows across the walls and floor making the scene even more macabre than realized. The number of skeletal remains is truly unfathomable and every now and again something shiny is seen mixed in with the boney remains.
The right turn where the group stopped is actually even more than a 90 degree turn and also takes a turn downward at about a drop of 2 feet every step you make, so it is now quite steep. The passage goes on for as far as the torches allow you to see, straight and down.
Milo finds what might have been the remains of a trip line that at one time might have bee run across the passage way but there isn't really enough of it left to tell.
Elese is keeping up well with the rest of the party and about every 10 feet or so brushes up against Lians hand or arm.
Olanna hears nothing outside of the noise the group is making and sees nothing else out of the ordinary either. except that just past the area that Milo is perusing seems to be some remains a bit fresher than the rest. They are also a bit larger than anything else seen so far.
Brother Bertram Friday February 6th, 2004 9:36:14 PM
Having no luck examining the remains, Bertram reaches down for the next shiny thing attracting his attention while still puzzling over what destroyed this many creatures. Judging by the layers, it looks to be something horrible; something ancient.

A fairly tall but slender human dodges in and out of the shadows around the white tower. Somehow he manages to avoid direct confrontation with the critters that are hunting him. He always knew the lack of control on his temper would get him into trouble. I mean, I was only telling the Heirophant how I thought things could be done, perhaps a little differently. I was only tying to be helpful..... Helpful, I can't believe he sent me here.. who am I supposed to help here?
Moments later he comes across a dark gaping hole in the ground with two new ropes tied to trees dangling down into it. (Welcome to the game Simon)
Down below Elese stays close to Lian and still occassionally manages to brush up against his arm or leg.
Bertram picks up a shiny and finds it is a strange irridescent metal disc roughly 2 inches in diameter.
Milo finds nothing more unusual in the passage and makes the final turn and finds 20 ft in front of him a solid smooth, alabaster, white wall.
Both Lian and Olanna spot several more shiny things mixed in with the boney trash.
Bertram and Olanna at the rear aren't sure but they may have heard some sort of scabbling way behind them.

Lian brushes past Elese as he goes to examine the 'shiny bait' among the bones. Curiousity is still his strongest sense.
Athalorn Tuesday February 10th, 2004 4:04:32 AM
Looking up to the sky, the druid sees Glannath circling overhead. Looking back to the ground, he realises with a sigh that this was probably the path he had to take. ~I hate going underground. Why should I have to do this. Who are these people anyway?~
Turning again to the Eagle, who was now descending rapidly to investigate what the druid was up to, Athalorn speaks softly. "Glannath, my friend. The underground is no place for a free spirit such as you. Wait here for my return." The bird understands the words, and glides around looking for some suitable place to settle.
Turning back to the hole, the druid focuses on his inner thoughts. A surge of energy courses through him as he feels the transformation (Wildshape -- Eagle). ~Climbing was never my greatest strength.~ With that, he hops over to the edge of the hole. Leaning slightly to peer into the gloom, his vision aided by his new form, he jumps into the air -- his wings pushing him from the ground. After circling the entrance once, to enjoy the feeling of being in flight, he descends into he darkness...
Brother Bertram Tuesday February 10th, 2004 9:42:39 PM
Bertram looks to Olana warningly and nods back the way they just came. He raises the axe and steps quietly away from the torch light and waits to see if anything, or anyone comes out of the darkness towards them.
DM kent Tuesday February 10th, 2004 10:17:49 PM
Athalorn changes shap and drops into the hole. As he reaches bottom it gets very very dark. While still able to see the darkness and the land above seems to be pressing down on you. There is a passage that leads off to the left and in the distace that way you hear some sort of scraping noises. (It will take you about 2 rounds to catch them, with out risking yourself.)
Lian grasps the shiny thing and looks at it closely and sees that it is a nearly circular perfectly smooth, silvery metal disc with a slight concavity.
Elese follows him over and looks at what he has found. "Oooh, Isn't aht a pretty little thing. It reminds me of something, but I don't remember what right now."
Bert and Olanna turn to look behind then and to listen more closely for what they heard behind them, but can hear ABSOLUTELY nothing coming from that direction any more.
Figment and Ingrge hold their torches closely so that Milo can work his particular form of magic.
Milo finds absolutely nothing interesting on in the hall before the wall. and when he inspects the wall he is truely awed. The white wall is pristinely clean and no dust is on it at all and it seems to be of one solid piece. At this point that means 18 feet wide and thrity feet tall. There do not appear to be any seems, nor notches, nor dimples, nor divits, nor anything else what-so-ever that might mar the perfection of this wall.
Milo d20+8=9 Wednesday February 11th, 2004 1:12:43 AM
Milo stands back from the wall, a look of skepticism on his face, "This wall is too perfect... I think its either some kind of illusion, or it was created by magic." (OOC: Disbelieve Will save DC 9. 'icky')
Athalorn d20+18=32 d20+18=32 Wednesday February 11th, 2004 1:19:56 PM
Landing softly on the ground, the druid immediately begins to feel claustrophobic. Although there was enough room in the corridor to stretch his wings, the sense of not having the open sky above was uncomfortable, especially in his current form. COncentrating once again on his body, the druid feels himself reverting back and grwoing in size (ooc: wildshape - return to human form).
Athalorn listens to the scraping noises as he begins to make his way carefully down the corridor, looking and listening for anything unusual as he goes.
(Spot 32 Listen 32)
Brother Bertram Wednesday February 11th, 2004 7:55:49 PM
Bertram picks up a larger bone quietly then slings it back up the hole as far as he can. He listens to hear any sounds resulting from the throw.
Olana Wednesday February 11th, 2004 9:16:17 PM
Olana shrugs at Bertram as no other sounds are forthcoming from behind them. 'Odd,' she mouths at him silently.
If nothing comes of the 'bone throwing', she'll go at see what Milo's up to.
Figment (Fly) Wednesday February 11th, 2004 10:59:40 PM
As the mage flies along with the party he examines his compass to see if it gives him any indication of which direction they should go - now that Elise is not interfering with it any more. (Note: The 2 torches have Continual Flame on them - in case that wasn't clear).
Lian d20+18=26 d20+13=27 Thursday February 12th, 2004 4:57:39 AM
Lian caresses the shiny disc with his thumb. "Hmm. Ingrge? What is this?"
He remains alert. (Listen 26, Spot 27)
DM kent d20+13=33 Thursday February 12th, 2004 8:37:21 AM
The bone is tossed back down the passage and rattles a bit as it bouces down along the floor rattiung through the other debris.
Athalorn is progressing down the passage when he suddenly hears something making a disturbace rustling through the floor debris, coming towards him.
Milo disbelieves that the wall is there and is in true disbelief when he checks again and sees that it is still there.
Figment checks the the compass and it shows that the direction they need to go is straight throught the whilte wal that Milo is staring at.
Lian shows the silvery disc to Ingrge, who in turn looks at it very closely. (natural 20 knowledge roll) and looks back at Lian in suprise. Almost casually he answers. "That my friend is a scale from one of the small toes of a dragon. From the color and translucence of it I would say it is from one of the lighter colored metalic dragons.
Athalorn Thursday February 12th, 2004 2:21:30 PM
Hearing the noise approaching, and unsure of its source, the druid makes a snap decision. Reaching into the pouch on his belt, he feels the sprig of culverclove leaf in his grasp, and begins rubbing the leaf between his fingers. At the same time he moves to press himself against the side of the tunnel wall, and whispers softly to himself. He can feel an energy drifting to him from the air, and pushes harder against the wall, hoping that the magic will come to him fully now...
(ooc: assuming the wall of the cavern is stone, casts Meld into Stone)
Lian d20+8=11 Thursday February 12th, 2004 4:51:40 PM
Lian thinks a moment, then looks back at Ingrge. (Knowledge Arcana, 11) "I am not sure, but metallics are often good, right?" He says with some uncertainty. "I shall keep hold of this for now." He pockets/stows the scale.
Brother Bertram Thursday February 12th, 2004 8:57:12 PM
Bertram whispers to Olana. "I thought mayhaps a spell of silence had been cast upon the tunnel, allowing a creature to creep up on us."
Olana d20+12=23 d20+13=32 Thursday February 12th, 2004 9:14:18 PM
Olana nods at Bertram and then moves up to the front to take a look at the wall. Winking at the halfling, she asks him - "Found anything interesting?"
The elf gives it a good look over, wondering if it reaches to the ceiling or not.((Search DC 23, Spot DC 32))
Milo Thursday February 12th, 2004 10:40:45 PM
Milo turns to Figment, "Something is strange about this wall... It's... too perfect. Is there anything you can tell about it? Maybe it is a magical construct of some kind."
DM Knet Friday February 13th, 2004 1:03:48 PM
As Figment moves up to take a closer look at the wall with both Milo and Olanna, Ingrge thinks a moment before answering Lian's question. Yea most all of the metalics are good, but I am not sure that they are always predictable.
Athalorn hears the commotion come to a stop just as he starts melding with the wall.
Bertram listening hears no further noise from the hallway after his bone stills.
Back in the ruins above ground, yet another human stays hidden from the things that lurk. Having watched another, harried toward a hole in the ground and then change into an eagle and disappear below, Gunther works up his courage to make the quick sprint to the hole and the awaiting ropes. (Welcome Nellie to the Talons)
Figment agrees with Milo that something is not quite right with the wall, and as the compass is marking the way as continuig through it He has the suspicion that there is magic of some sort involved. Remebering that Ingrge has one of the parties dispell magic scrolls, he contemplates asking him for it, but first, without saying a thing he walks straight at the wall. (will DC 20 please)
Athalorn Friday February 13th, 2004 3:11:24 PM
The druid finishes the merge into the wall, despite the ceasing of the noise. He remains where he is, hidden and conscious, listening to the noises from the corridor. He waits a moment longer until curiosity gets the better of him, and when sure of the silence he pulls himself from the stone back into the tunnel.
Gunther d20+1=4 d20+11=19 d20+1=2 d20+1=8 Friday February 13th, 2004 5:41:27 PM
Gunther looks down the hole suspeciously...but again his curiosity gets the best of him. "De old man said I vas needed here. Hmmm...O vell, who vants to live forever!"
After peering down the hole for a few more minutes to make sure it isn't an obvious trap (Spot=4), Gunther begins to quickly climb down the ropes into the hole (Climb=19). Once at the bottom he listens and looks for signs of passage from a large group (Spot=2...sheesh!, Listen=8).
Milo Saturday February 14th, 2004 3:53:54 AM
Perplexed, Milo is surprised as Figment simply marches toward the wall with no sign of stopping. The halfling cringes slightly, waiting for the coming 'thump'.
Brother Bertram Saturday February 14th, 2004 8:07:49 AM
Bertram waits quietly, listening for any indication that the creature was again moving in the tunnel. Whatever crept there, it would not get by him.
DM Kent d20+9=11 d20+4=7 Saturday February 14th, 2004 2:43:03 PM
Figment walks toward the wall and at the very last instant puts out his hands and meets the solid wall. (Will DC 11)
Gunther gets to the bottom of the rope and realizes that the end of the rope does not allow him to touch the ground. There seems to be about a 10 foot drop below his feet. Taking a deep breath he goes for it and tries to keep his feet as he lands (Dex DC 10) (rolled a 7 total)but manages to not quite land evenly and he tumbles to the ground with a mild curse.(No Damage) Gunther feels around on the ground around him and in the extremely dim lighting realizes that all the debris around him is skeletons of all sizes and forms. After brushing himself off Gunther finds that there is a one way passage ahead of him, but it is Very dark.
Athalorn is no longer one with the wall and just as he moves out he hears a crash/thud followed by a soft curse coming from the entry hole behind him. He realizes as well that he can only see about 5 feet in front of him at best due to the lack of light. Up ahead it could be possible that he hears some muffled voices, but it is hard to be sure.
Bertram waits quietly listening and is rewarded with the sound of something heavy falling, though it is much further back than the last sounds he heard.
Elese cozies up to Lian with a quiet question.
"Do you truly think that there is a Dragon down here? I'm not sure whether to be excited or frightened."
Ingrge joins Milo, Olanna and Figment in assessing the wall.
"Milo my friend, I too think this wall is just too perfect, and though hardheaded, I am not willing to trust to that and walk into it. At the same time I do not know what might happen should I cast a Dispel Magic on the area either. If the compass is showing the correct way which I believe it is then there has to be a way through. If neither you nor Olanna can find a normal or hidden way through then it must then be magical. The two options would be a knock spell if there is a door of some sort, or the dispell magic. If neither of those works then we back up and Figment and I try to blast our way through. Either way I expect we will be anouncing our presence, so I want everyone ready for anything."
Brother Bertram Saturday February 14th, 2004 3:16:02 PM
(OOC Kent, I realize its a tunnel but maybe a map would help a bit if possible)
Gunther Saturday February 14th, 2004 5:26:09 PM Well, now everything in this tunnel will now where I am!! thinks Gunther. He picks himself up and dusts himself off. Looking at the skeletons he comes to the conclusion that something has been very busy. He drops into a crouch and begins to travel slowly down the tunnel. He briefly considers lighting a torch, but decides against it since that would further serve to loudly announce his presence. Better to go slowly and somewhat quietly...
Athalorn Sunday February 15th, 2004 3:48:41 AM
Hearing the noise behind him, the druid assumes that someone, or something, has followed him down the hole. Readying his spear, and crouching amongst the bones, he waits silently for the creature to catch him up
