Feng Friday February 20th, 2004 11:31:48 PM
Feng continues to disarm the tables, lost in thought. He knew he was held to a higher standard but sometimes it was oh so hard. It was gaurenteed that the dark elf would show up again in force. There was a chance that he or somebody else could die. Yet he had to let her go.
Sarigar (HP 78, AC19) d20+13=31 d20+17=33 Saturday February 21st, 2004 12:11:21 AM
Hearing the thumping on the wall, Sarigar begins scrutinizing it, moving slowly along the wall trying to find the precise place the sound is coming from (Listen 31). Not wanting to give up completely on his discovery on the steps, he also carefully scans the area for recent movement (Tracking 33).
For the moment, he says nothing about the sounds, as he doesn't want to alert those making the sounds that he has heard them. His movements, however, are fairly obvious that he's looking for something in particular now, as before he was just keeping alert.
Arien (Mage Armor AC 21) Saturday February 21st, 2004 3:19:24 PM
As the rest of the party occupy themselves in one way or another Arien keeps watch, making sure nothing comes down the stairs. Then noticing the way Sarigar was behaving Arien moves over behind the feral man and watches what he does, prepared to blast anything that comes out of the stairs.
Draax AC25, HP89 Sunday February 22nd, 2004 1:56:13 PM
Draax tries to stay alert for any surprises; he continues to switch his eyes from watching the staircase to watching the kitchen area. When he notices Sarigar reaction and Arien's interest, Draax turns his attention to them and waits to see if the feral finds whatever his is searching for.
Setanos (AC 19 HP 83/83) [Extended Mage Armor] Monday February 23rd, 2004 7:14:46 AM
Setanos continues with the party, watching for signs from the tracker of anything curious. He continues to watch behind the party as well.
A Moment of Silence - DM Marcin Monday February 23rd, 2004 10:50:19 AM
The common room of the Inn of Silver Seagull is quiet for the first time in a very long while. Gone are its keepers and guests. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the dark menace lurking beneath it.
Even though so many hours have passed a thin wisp of smoke still rises from the funeral pyre that has been lit in the yard yesterday. Soon wind will scatter the ashes of the villains who made the last mistake of their lives by deciding to oppose the Hamleters.
Tratain and Rond look into the kitchen while Feng removes the last pieces of the wooden barricade. The way to the kitchen is now open. The rug is spread invitingly right in the middle of the mess on the floor.
Sarigar listens to the strange thumping sounds. Draax watches him in silence. Arien keeps an eye on the stairs leading above, but nothing dares to stick out its ugly head from the upper floor. Setanos watches the outside of the inn, but likewise nothing catches his attention.
Thump, thump. Even though Feng is moving furniture nearby Sarigar's keen ears recognize the noise. It sounds like footsteps - two pairs of footsteps, actually. Somebody or something is unhurriedly walking inside the building. One pair of footsteps seems to be growing fainter and fainter, while the other moves about a bit and then stops.
Silence.
Sarigar looks at the steps leading up. Sahuagin were here, many pairs of webbed feet. In the usual muddy mess left behind after their passing the beast man sees tracks of different kind. Three pairs of boots. Taur's hoofs. Strange imprints of skeletal feet, no doubt left behind by some kind of undead. A very faint stench of rot lingers in the air.

Tratain AC 24 HP 59/59 Monday February 23rd, 2004 12:10:29 PM
Tratain says to the others "Can either Arien or Setanos Move that run useing a spell? It's probably glyphed like last time, and I'm not sure what sets it off, The rug moveing or us getting closer to it. If I can see it I can attempt to dispell it and hopefully we can get in without them knowing we are here. If moveing the rug does set it off we'll need to hurry."
Setanos (AC 19 HP 83/83) [Extended Mage Armor] Monday February 23rd, 2004 12:50:26 PM
Setanos nods at Tratain with a simple "Lemme give it a try". He then casts a simple spell, and tries to push the carpet out of the way from range.
Sarigar d20=19 Monday February 23rd, 2004 2:15:49 PM
Sarigar barks out a command to Black Paws who begins sniffing around the room, trying to spot the people Sarigar believes to be invisible (19+ for Black Paws search, scent allows him to get general direction on even invisible targets and if within 5 feet, can pinpoint location. I don't have Sarigar's sheet here at school, but I believe Blackpaws gets a +3 to search).
"Hoof men, Shark men and skeletons have been walking on these stairs. I can still catch their scent."
Sarigar's places his back more to the wall and scans the room, as if he were trying to see the unseen. He waits until Black Paws finds him a target or determines that there is no longer anyone in here with them. He crouches low, ready to pounce or roll as the case may warrant.
Draax AC25, HP89 Monday February 23rd, 2004 8:50:42 PM
When Tratain speaks Draax turns his away from the feral and his companion to watch Setanos cast a spell on the rug. His attention is quickly returned to the wildman when he barks his command to the wolf. When Sarigar speaks in a language that Draax can understand the warrior readies his shield and draws his thundersword.
Draax stands perfectly still while following the wolf with his eyes. He balances himself on the balls of his feet, ready to sprint if Black Paws detects something or someone.
Arien (Mage Armor AC 21) HP: 41 Tuesday February 24th, 2004 2:12:51 AM
Arien continues watching the stairway as he works on an idea. Even if they go down the back way to the school there was nothing to prevent the Son's from coming up the main way and sneaking down behind them. After a moment, Arien voices his concerns, "Guys," he calls out just a bit louder than his normal volume, "We really ought to block off this stairway somehow so that they can't sneak up behind us. I for one would really hate to get attacked from behind again, last time almost did me in."
Searching the Inn - DM Marcin Tuesday February 24th, 2004 6:23:37 AM
Tratain advises to move the rug out of the way using magic. Fortunately Setanos has the right spell prepared.
The incantation is completed and the small carpet starts to slide away. No magic trap is activated; no glowing rune is revealed. The hardwood planks look nothing out of the ordinary. The trapdoor has been constructed so expertly that it actually takes some effort to notice its outline. It would be very easy to miss it if the party was not aware of its existence. There seems to be no handle and no other obvious way of opening it.
In the meanwhile Sarigar orders Black Paws to search the common room. The wolf starts to circle the chamber sniffing at the air. The wild man watches his friend carefully, ready to pounce. So does Draax, who quietly straps the shield to his arm and draws his blade.
Black Paws stops a few times, examining a dried up wine stain, a place where one of the mummies fell, and the stairs. Nothing seems to catch his interest for long.
Arien looks up the stairs and advises the party to block off the route that can potentially be used to strike at them from behind.
[Can I please have a list of tricks that Black Paws knows? 0:01]
Feng (Ac 23 Hp 96) Tuesday February 24th, 2004 10:07:48 AM
Feng kept on being suprised by this supposed inn. It was in the middle of knowhere but that was the point. Who would look at this place and think there were intricate and well crafted secret passageways. He wondered how long this inn was in operation before they got here and how many more like them are out there.
Draax AC25, HP89 d20+2=14 Tuesday February 24th, 2004 8:08:39 PM
Draax stands a little easier when he notices that Black Paws is not reacting to any unseen dangers.
When the trapdoor is revealed Draax moves to get a closer look. He wonders if door can only be opened from the other side or if there might be a pull out handle that is blended into the door or possibly a switch/latch that opens the door. He begins searching the kitchen for button or handle that might open it (search 14).
Hearing Arien Draax says, "I agree we should block the stairway, but lets see if we can find a way to open the trap door before we block it completely. We might have to go that way again if we cannot get this thing opened."
Rond Tuesday February 24th, 2004 11:40:45 PM
Rond watches warily as the others discuss what they would like to do. Rond decides to keep his mouth shut for now and see what happens.
Tratain AC 24 HP 59/59 d20+9=15 d20=4 Wednesday February 25th, 2004 12:25:13 AM
Tratain moves to the trap door and attempts to locate some way of opening it from the outside (15 Spot, 4 Search).
If no one in the group finds a way to open it from the outside Tratain will try and jamb a dagger or other flat item between the cracks and try to force it open.
Which way in? - DM Marcin Wednesday February 25th, 2004 4:18:23 AM
Draax and Tratain busy themselves searching the kitchen and examining the trapdoor while the rest of the party keeps wary silence.
The kitchen doesn't offer much information to Draax. He discovers that somebody spilled a bag of flour behind one of the cupboards and accidentally causes a cloud of cinnamon to rise to the air when he presses a small pouch, but no hidden handle, lever, or button is located.
Tratain has to actually hack away some wood to fit the blade of his dagger into the crack in the floor, but once he has made a leverage point he is able to crack the trapdoor slightly open. It seems that it is neither locked nor barred. Now that the panel can be grabbed by its side it could be easily flung open. [0:02]
Draax AC25, HP89 Wednesday February 25th, 2004 9:28:59 PM
Draax feel a little embarrassed that Tratain found such a simple way of opening the trapdoor. He was thinking some much about how the door was suppose to open that he did not even think about creating their own way of opening it. He hides his embarrassment behind a compliment, "Nice going Tain, we could have been here for hours and I would have never though about prying it open."
Remembering Arien's suggestion about the stairs, Draax goes over and begins moving some of the tables and chairs to block the stairs. He moves enough to slow down anyone trying to use the staircase, but not enough that the party cannot remove the items if the group find that they will have to go that way.
Sarigar d20+17=36 Wednesday February 25th, 2004 11:32:53 PM
Perhaps acting out of paranoia, Sarigar moves back to the entrance to the inn. Carefully, he attempts to see as much of the outside as possible, to the point of pressing up against the wall to either side of the threshold to try to look along the outside wall, from the inside.
If he doesn't see anyone of anything, he begins searching for fresh tracks just outside the door (36 Tracking).
Feng (Ac 23 Hp 96) Wednesday February 25th, 2004 11:37:48 PM
Feng wanted to take point but in this situation it wouldn't be best. There would be traps and other dangers besides men or monsters that would challenge them.
Tratain d20+9=13 d20+9=14 Thursday February 26th, 2004 1:03:21 AM
Tratain says "I'm going to open the trap door all the way now if I can. Get ready."
Tratain then opens the Trap Door and see's if there is anything waiting for them down there. (13 Spot, 14 Listen)
Arien (Mage Armor AC 21) HP: 41 Thursday February 26th, 2004 3:54:51 AM
As Draax begins to pile stuff in front of the stairway, Arien moves back so he can cover both the stairs and the kitchen should anything hostile present itself from either direction.
Precautions - DM Marcin Thursday February 26th, 2004 7:24:34 AM
Draax starts to put obstructions on the stairs until he is certain nobody can possibly charge down them anymore without breaking his legs. All the while Arien watches over him, standing silent vigil.
Sarigar looks outside and doesn't see anything out of the ordinary. He starts looking for tracks and finds that many feet have travelled in and out of the door. He doesn't notice footprints of any creatures that he didn't already find on the stairs. It would take about an hour to thoroughly examine the terrain around the inn for tracks.
Tratain slowly opens the trapdoor. A set of about ten stone stairs leads down into a narrrow corridor that continues into the darkness. Not much can be seen without some extra light. The walls and floor seem to be made of hewn stone reinforced here and there with wooden beams. The air coming from the cellar is stale and dusty. The stench of rot and undead is more intensive here. Sound of the sea can be heard faintly somewhere in the distance.
[Should you decide to descend this way I need a marching order. The corridor is so narrow that the party has to travel it in a single file. Characters without darkvision will not see much down there without some source of light. 0:06]
Setanos (AC 19 HP 83/83) [Extended Mage Armor] Thursday February 26th, 2004 7:37:02 AM
Setanos looks down into the black pit. "I can take the front, but I'll need some sort of light." If there's no objections, Setanos will take the lead and head down the stairs with the party.
Draax AC25, HP89 Thursday February 26th, 2004 9:56:05 PM
Draax lights and hands Setanos a torch if he needs it. He lets Setanos get a few feet in front of him before he begins to follow.
Tratain d20+9=18 d20+9=27 Thursday February 26th, 2004 9:58:30 PM
Tratain pull out his goggles of night from his magic pants and puts them on. He tries to see if there is any danger he can see or hear before moveing into the passageway with the rest of the party. (Spot 18, Listen 27)
Arien (Mage Armor AC 21) HP: 41 Friday February 27th, 2004 4:11:30 AM
Arien pulls a coin out of his pack and casts light onto it. Deciding he would rather keep his hands free for casting, he then drops the coin into a scroll tube and offers the light source to whomever would like it.
Corridor under the inn - DM Marcin Friday February 27th, 2004 9:25:08 AM
The party decides to descend down the narrow passageway. Tratain puts on goggles and for a moment listens in concentration to the sounds coming from below, but hears nothing but the distant music of the sea.
Setanos receives a lit torch from Draax and puts his feet on the cold stone of the stairs. Draax follows next keeping a few feet back. Tratain walks behind him, and after him Arien, who has cast a light spell on one of his coins. The rest of the group follows behind.
Light of the torch dances on the stone walls magnifying shadows of heroes into grotesque forms. The footsteps of the Hamleters resound in the corridor with faint echo. The air is stale, unpleasant, humid, and significantly colder than outside.
The passage is slightly sloping downwards. After about a hundred steps Setanos reaches what appears to be a dead end but his hand goes straight through the wall.
An illusion.
Peering through the segment of the wall Setanos sees a small rectangular cellar. Moss covers its walls, walls reinforced with dark red bricks. The floor is made of packed dirt. Several bundles of dirty old rags lay scattered on the floor as if cast aside by someone in a hurry. Otherwise the cellar seems to be empty.
Gagging stench of undead hangs heavily in the air bringing tears to the eyes. It is difficult to breathe in here.
A single door leads out of the chamber. It is made of bright wooden planks and looks as if it was a relatively new addition to the dungeon. There is a handle but no lock. It is closed.

Setanos (AC 19 HP 83/83) [Extended Mage Armor] Friday February 27th, 2004 9:43:02 AM
Setanos gags slightly at the foul air. "Those rags make me edgy. Good place for somethin ta be hiding there. Be ready.
Taking his greatsword, Setanos lightly taps the floor infront of him to make sure its real and not an illusion like the door. When the party is ready, he steps into the room.

Sarigar (AC19, HP78), Black Paws (AC17, HP33) d20+28=36 d20+23=40 Friday February 27th, 2004 10:41:19 PM
Seeing that everyone has begun to descend through the trap door and a search outside would be far too time consuming, Sarigar moves over into the kitchen and up to the trapdoor.
The stench arising from the pit causes him to gag and sneeze, but girding himself up, he begins stepping down into the darkness. He edges Black Paws ahead of him as he wants to provide a buffer for his companion should someone come up behind him.
Unless someone says not to, Sarigar will pull the trapdoor closed behind him.
He uses the light the others are carrying to allow him to see in the darkness. He begins prowling (Hide 36, Move Silently 40), knowing full well that the others are being far less stealthy, but he may still provide some form of surprise should the need arise.
Feng (Ac 23 Hp 96) Sunday February 29th, 2004 11:11:49 PM
Feng takes up the rear, double axe flaming to provide light to those that need it. While he doesn't the weapon is rather large and puts out as much light as a torch. The down side is that it lets their enemies know where they are.
Tratain AC 24 HP 59/59 Monday March 1st, 2004 12:09:56 AM
Tratain makes himself ready for battle if they should meet any enemies in the room.
In the cellar - DM Marcin Monday March 1st, 2004 3:45:20 AM
One by one the party steps into the room. With so many people wielding large weapons the small cellar suddenly becomes quite crowded. Setanos is the first one to enter, greatsword in hand. His probing of the floor does not reveal any concealed surprises. He casts a suspicious glance at the piles of rags but there seems to be no room for anything to hide under them - maybe except for a small mouse.
Draax and Tratain step in, followed by Feng, who is wielding his flaming axe. The rest of the party follows their steps with Black Paws and Sarigar bringing up the rear. Sarigar moves with great stealth.
Now that light is brought into the chamber it is possible to see its contents more clearly. Filthy straps of cloth can be seen trodden into the floor here and there. A blackened, broken spike has been tossed away to one of the corners. It looks deceptively like one of the metal grafts party has found on the mummies.
A moment passes and the only thing that assails the Hamleters is the unbearable stench. It appears that this room of the dungeon will not be contested for.
[Same map as in the last post. 0:10]
Setanos (AC 19 HP 83/83) [Extended Mage Armor] Monday March 1st, 2004 7:19:25 AM
Setanos looks back to the rest of the party. "Check the piles and move on to the door?"
If the party agrees Setanos will examine one of the piles with a few prods, and then move to the door, although he will not open it until the party is ready.
Sarigar d20+28=43 d20+23=41 Monday March 1st, 2004 11:10:14 AM
Attempting to keep his composure, Sarigar finds himself trying to keep from gagging and outright vommiting from teh stench. He takes a deep breath, through his hand, hopefully to keep out some of the stink, and holds it. Quickly, he removes his backpack and unlike the last time he dug into it, he pulls out a sack and tears it into a couple pieces. He ties one over his nose and mouth like a mask, places the rest of the peices back in the pack, and redons the satchel. Finally, he exhales and begins to breathe easier, though he's obviously still affected somewhat by the smell.
He slips back against the wall and attempts to start prowling again (Hide 43, Move Silently 41). He positions himself so that he can keep an eye on the rags that Setanos prods and the door leading deeper in to the dungeon.
Draax AC25, HP89 Monday March 1st, 2004 8:11:14 PM
Draax nods his head in agreement with Setanos, suggestion about the rags. He thinks about probing one of the piles himself, but decides not to. He keeps his thundersword and shield ready and watching the pile that Setanos touch while trying to look everywhere else at the same time. If they get no surprises he will follows Setanos to the door.
Feng (Ac 23 Hp 96) Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 12:15:13 AM
Feng looks around the room and notices that Sarigar is gone. He wants to ask where he may have gone but doing so could ruin everything if they were being observed. Feng closes his eyes and tries to feel any evil in the room.
OOC: Detect Evil.
Arien (Mage Armor AC 21) HP: 41 d20+8=12 Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 1:50:35 AM
Arien sticks close to Feng, knowing that where the Paladin went trouble usually followed. While the others examine the rags Arien takes a look at the room to see if anything interesting jumps out.

Rond departs - DM Marcin Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 3:50:45 AM
Rond has been nervously looking back for some time now. "Look, this simply will not do" he whispers. "I have a very bad feeling about leaving our backs unprotected as we are about to. It would be bad enough with the necromancers and their undead who could easily follow us and attack from behind, but with the dark elves we left in the cave it might prove downright suicidal. Somehow I don't trust her to keep the word she gave us."
"All my instincts tell me we need a sentry left behind. I'll be on the surface watching the inn. If any trouble comes my way I will lure it away from you, or at least make enough noise to warn you."
"You just keep safe, find Renik, and don't get yourself killed, hear?" With that Rond turns back and disappears through the illusionary wall. His steps can be heard for a moment as he walks down the corridor. A trapdoor is opened and, a moment later, slammed shut.
Setanos prods one of the piles, rising a small cloud of dust particles. Or at least one would hope it is dust. Then he and Draax move to the door. Sarigar makes a mask out of a torn sack and puts it over his mouth. It helps a bit, but Black Paws starts to whine quietly. The air in the cellar must be torturing his sensitive nose.
Feng slowly turns around the room, trying to sense evil. Arien stands nearby, attempting to see anything unusual. Neither finds anything new.
Lights of the torch and flaming axe dance on the faces of Hamleters as they gather by the door.

Setanos (AC 19 HP 83/83) [Extended Mage Armor] Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 7:35:57 AM
At Ronds words Setanos throws a look that can only be taken one way. Ronds decision to hide a few fights back and now this have made up Setanos's mind on the matter. Still he holds his tongue, for he understands that not everyone holds the same values he does.
Looking at his remaining companions, he gives a grim and determined nod. "We've no one to do any fancy lock fiddling with this door, so I'm of a mind ta just open er up and see what happens."
If the party agrees, when everyone is ready Setanos will open the door wide.
Tratain AC 24 HP 59/59 d20+9=28 Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 1:01:26 PM
Tratain follows close to Setanos listening at the door to try and hear if anything is behind it. (Listen 28)
Draax AC25, HP89 Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 4:07:00 PM
Draax does not understand Rond's decision, but hopes he knows what he is doing. Draax stands to the side of the door (D7) with his sword and shield ready. "I agree, lets open it and see what we've gotten ourselves into."
Deeper into the dungeon - DM Marcin Wednesday March 3rd, 2004 3:14:41 AM
Tratain puts his ear to the door and listens for a moment. The only sound that can be heard is the gentle talk of the sea.
Setanos decides to open the door. It swings inwards almost without a noise. Another corridor is revealed, this time more wide than the secret passage. It continues to both left and right, but to the left there seems to be a dead end just a few steps away. When Setanos looks to the right he notices that a small, pale, white glowing crystal has been set in the ceiling about 40 ft away to the right. Its dim illumination coupled with the light of the lantern reveals three more doors spaced evenly along the wall of the passage. From party's current position each looks very much like the one that has been just passed through. One of them is open, but no extra light is coming from the room it leads to. Just on the border of vision it can be seen that further passage down the hallway is blocked by yet another door.
This part of the complex seems to be well kept and does not reek as bad as the room the party is in. In fact, a hint of exotic and not at all unpleasant smell hits Setanos' nose. It smells like incense.
The walls here have been reinforced with bricks, but are dry and clean. The floor has been paved with stones. The voice of the waves is louder here.

Setanos (AC 19 HP 83/83) [Extended Mage Armor] d20+8=10 Wednesday March 3rd, 2004 11:58:04 AM

Sarigar(AC19, HP78), Black Paws (AC17, HP33) d20+28=34 d20+23=43 Wednesday March 3rd, 2004 1:23:10 PM
Finding that the smell in the hall is far less disgusting, Sarigar is more than happy to bring Black Paws into it to releive him of his sensory agony.
He follows stealthly through the hall, trying to stay at the light's edge or in any shadows that are cast by the party or other objects (Hide 34, Move Silently 43).
ooc: Didn't know if my other Hide and Move Silently rolls would hold up, so I rerolled them.
Arien (Mage Armor AC 21) HP: 41 d20+7=22 Wednesday March 3rd, 2004 2:18:59 PM
Arien also moves into the new hallway, sticking close to the wall. He definetly doesn't want to be attacked from behind again. Arien concentrates, trying to hear past the waves in case anything should be waiting further down the hallway.

Feng (Ac 23 Hp 96) Wednesday March 3rd, 2004 4:36:54 PM
Feng says a silent prayer for Rond as he departs. As they pass into another empty room, Feng begins to worry. Before they had been chased by hordes of enemies now there are none.
"I don't like this. It is too empty. Where are the forces that nearly overwhelmed us before?"
Draax AC25, HP89 Wednesday March 3rd, 2004 5:01:33 PM
Draax moves down the hall a couple of feet behind Setanos. He nods his head in agreement with Feng's statement. He stops a little away from Setanos and stands ready.
Advancing down the hall - DM Marcin Thursday March 4th, 2004 8:14:58 AM
Setanos strains his ears to hear something - anything! But the corridor is unnervingly quiet (if you don't count the sea, that is). Then he cautiously advances towards the open door. The rest of the party follows, with Draax staying just a few steps behind him, followed by Arien and Feng. Tratain brings up the rear.
Even as Feng voices his concern about lack of opposition Arien thinks he hears a noise somewhere far off. It echoes as if it was coming from another part of the complex. It sounds as if somebody just dropped a heavy crate or a large shelf was overturned.
Sarigar moves ahead of the party and goes through the hallway almost to its end. The exotic smell is more intensive here. It reminds the wild man of the aroma of the sap of cedars and pines. The pair of closed doors on the side of the corridor looks very much like the one that has been just opened - simple doorhandles but no keyholes. The one blocking the passage down the hall is more stout: oak braced with iron. There is some kind of iron lock on it that looks like a grotesque face of a daemon. The keyhole is its mouth and the doorhandle is its nose.
Both Sarigar and Setanos are in position to take a look into the cellar the open door is leading to. It is somewhat smaller than the one just left by the party. The whole room is cluttered with all kinds of magical paraphernalia. Shelves, tables, barrels, and bins are full of books, parchment, candles, jars with pickled who-knows-what, stuffed animals, and all kinds of other magical trinkets. It is hard to tell more after just a casual glance inside. Nobody seems to be in the room right now, but it looks as if it has been very recently rummaged through.

Feng (Ac 23 Hp 96) d20+1=8 Thursday March 4th, 2004 11:15:25 AM
Feng moves closer and runs his hand across the iron bound oak door. The more of this place he saw the more it puzzled him.
ooc: 8 on listen check
Draax AC25, HP89 d20+3=6 Thursday March 4th, 2004 5:07:49 PM
Draax moves closer to the door and looks into the cellar. He concentrates on locating any dangers and does not really pay too much attention to any sounds that he might have heard if he was listening. (listen check 6)
Setanos (AC 19 HP 83/83) [Extended Mage Armor] d20+8=22 Thursday March 4th, 2004 7:30:23 PM
Setanos looks back at his companions to see from their faces if any have heard anything, since he has clearly not.
He strains to listen again.
OOC: Listen check 22

Arien stops when he hears the faint noise and listens more to see if anymore noises are forthcoming. Arien then whispers to the party the about the noise he had heard and any more that he might of caught. Arien creeps along the wall after that still listening for any noises.

We are not alone - DM Marcin Friday March 5th, 2004 9:36:32 AM
Suddenly wary that danger might be lurking somewhere close the party starts to move with stealth. Tratain, Feng, Sarigar, and Arien advance to the oaken door. Tratain does not find any illusions on the way.
Draax and Setanos stay by the door to the arcane storage. Closer inspection reveals the room to be a magazine for spell ingredients, alchemical reagents, parchments, and such. Lots of components for low level spells are scattered on the floor. Nothing stands out from the mess this room is in.
Sarigar hears a muffled cough behind the door. It sounds as if someone or something was behind it, but not very close. In fact, it echoes as if the chamber the door was leading to was quite large.

Setanos (AC 19 HP 83/83) [Extended Mage Armor] Friday March 5th, 2004 11:52:47 AM
Setanos takes a moment whisper to the party "Should we prepare with spells before going further?"
He then moves to the door, ready to go when the party agrees.
Draax AC25, HP89 Friday March 5th, 2004 8:55:24 PM
Draax takes one last look into the storage room before joining the others at the door. "Yea, now would probably be the best time to prepare ourselves."
Arien (Mage Armor AC 21) HP: 41 Friday March 5th, 2004 9:19:52 PM
Arien considers a moment before saying, "I can make someone invisible and they will stay that way until the spell ends regardless of whether they attack or not. I can also enlarge two people making them bigger and stronger. I anyone wants one of these spells cast on them let me know now."
Feng (Ac 23 Hp 96) Friday March 5th, 2004 11:33:49 PM
"I will draw them. Hide yourself the best you can. When they attack we can try to flank them and hold this position. Even if they have a large force, only a few can get through the door at a time." Feng says quietly.
Sarigar(AC19, HP78), Black Paws (AC17, HP33) d20+28=32 d20+23=33 Sunday March 7th, 2004 9:22:18 PM
Sarigar steps to the side of the door and presses into the corner, trying to disappear into it (Hide 32, Move Silently 33). He gestures to Black Paws to guard near the door into this hall.
He gives a gesture to Arien that he wants not spells on him at this time. Then nods to Feng when he feels he's ready.
Tratain AC 24 HP 77/77 [Endurence] Monday March 8th, 2004 12:28:57 AM
Tratain quietly Casts Bear's Endurence on Himself as it seems that the party will not progress much further into the School without running into opposition. He then takes up position and waits for Feng to open the door.
A moment of silence before the storm - DM Marcin Monday March 8th, 2004 5:44:29 AM
Feng moves to the door and gets ready to open it, while Sarigar does his best to conceal himself in the corner. Setanos moves as close as possible to the end of the hallway, but the wide backs of the paladin and the wild man pretty much take up all the space there is in front of him.
Draax stands ready next to Setanos. Arien and Tratain bring up the rear, with Black Paws pacing nervously behind them. The wolf's instincts allow him to sense that trouble is coming.
The party discusses strategy. Feng readies himself to open the door. Tratain makes a complicated gesture and spends some of his magic. [Sorry friend, unless the spell is silent you can't cast it quietly. You need to speak in a firm tone of voice.]
Maybe it's just the imagination or adrenaline flowing through the veins of Hamleters, but the silence behind the oaken door suddenly becomes wary and tense, as if someone or something was intently listening.
Black Paws bares his teeth and quietly growls.

Setanos (AC 23 HP 83/83) [Extended Mage Armor, Shield] Monday March 8th, 2004 7:23:41 AM
Setanos notices the silence from the other side of the door, and figures the chance of surprise is gone.
Draax AC25, HP89 Monday March 8th, 2004 11:30:51 AM
Not really thinking that the party had any chance of surprising their host, Draax remains calm and ready. To Arien he say, "I think you should do the invis spell on yourself because of that big target that is hanging on your chest (says with a smile). I will take an enlargement once we find out what's on the other side of this door, but I do not want to be enlarged now and find out the space is too small to move in. If you get a chance once we know how much room we will be operating it, then hit me up with one, but if you do not get the chance that is OK too."
Arien (Mage Armor, Shield AC 25) HP: 41 Monday March 8th, 2004 2:21:04 PM
Arien takes the moment before the door is opened to fortify his defenses by casting an extended Shield spell on himself.
Spells Shield: 1/180 rounds Mage Armor: 18 hours
