Early to Rise [DM Matt] Friday February 13th, 2004 4:03:42 PM
Welcomes and business are taken care of, people fed and you go to bed dreaming of your adventures from the past and your adventures to come. Grymash has a nightmare about a relapse of being a girl and Flea obsesses further on identifying magic items that you've already been told about. The Catacombs people confirm later they all provide the minimum about of offense/defense (+1) and will conform to fit whoever wears them.
You awake to a very hot morning. The sun barges in through the cracks of your windows and doors, heating up your huts.
Breakfast is made and more lookie-loos go by Gilan's abode. But the lookie-loos seem more distracted by things at the gate. Peering outside you already see people whispering (some still in their nightclothes) and pointing to the gates. Indeed monks can be seen going to and from the gates rather in a hurry.
Tishe' Friday February 13th, 2004 4:36:51 PM
Morning sun hits her eyes and the plain-faced girl awakens. She uses the early hour for mental exercise and reviewing her spellbook before dressing and coming to help Gilan with breakfast preparation and cleaning.
She is also wondering about why she came to Rattledam. "Gilan," she begins, "I came to find out how my mother got to Rattledam as a foundling and where her family might be. If I'm not allowed to ask questions or tell of a world outside of Rattledam, this is going to take longer than I expected. Please let me help with anything while I stay."
Not knowing the usual to's and fro's of Rattledam, Tishe' doesn't notice anything out of the ordinary until someone points it out to her. She'll then be most curious. "Let's find out what's going on."
Anuk Sunday February 15th, 2004 12:16:12 PM
When Anuk wakes, he goes through his usual morning routine, slow and groggy as he feels. (Prepares Endure Elements) Finishing up, he feels a start when he realizes Twinge is there with him. He looks at the snake with a smile and says, "So there you are...I wondered where you were hiding. Well...c'mon...we gotta go." The viper quickly climbs up Anuk's arm and rests around his shoulders.
As he leaves his own hut and heads towards Gilan's hut to meet the others, he sees the crowd gathering near the gates. "What are the beaters up to now," he wonders. He stops in with the crowd for a moment to see what's going on, before going to Gilan's to report.
Sterlin Sunday February 15th, 2004 1:11:33 PM
" Grymash, Its good to see you are yourself again. You may not be that attractive, but as a woman, you were just down right scary. "
Flea d20+7=19 d20+9=15 Sunday February 15th, 2004 8:01:14 PM
Flea wakes with a smile on her face. She had a most interesting dream of being forgotten, and locked inside the wondrous store called "The Catacombs" at closing time. After a night trying out different weapons, cloaks, boots, and gloves, and poking around magic items, she found a nifty bag that seemed to hold an infinite number of items. In her dream, she filled the bag with nifty things for her pack.
Flea has a stretch, jumps out of bed, then bounds outside for her customary run around Rattledam. She ends with a short swim in the large fountain. As she makes her way back to the hut she shares with Gilan, her curiousity is piqued by the assembling crowd, and she tries to get a better look and learn what they are discussing. (Spot=19, Listen=15)
Gilan Sunday February 15th, 2004 9:07:32 PM
Gilan is up early as usual to go about his morning rituals and spend some time communing with nature. When he comes back after a morning dip he finds that Tishe' is up and Flea is just getting up.
"Morning to the both of you." He glances around but does not see Mac up as yet. Taking the time he fixes up a larger portion of eggs and bread than he normally would. Smiling at Tishe' he nods in understanding. "I can understand...when I was found in the grasses I had no memory of my past life...the did help me out in getting my memory back." He ponders some things as he hands some dishes to Tishe' to put out on the table for breakfast. "We will have to see Malafret...she maybe able to help out." With that he looks to Flea and smiles again. "Want some breakfast before going to the Catacombs?"
He notices the commotion outside the window but shrugs his shoulders figuring that it will get around to him soon enough. "Lets not get involved at this time Tishe'...the news will reach us soon enough I figure." He goes back to cooking and humming to himself.
Trellus Sunday February 15th, 2004 9:51:38 PM
After waiting for a while with Gilan and company, Trellus finally decided Flea wasn't coming back anytime soon and went home.
The cleric got a good night's sleep and spent the early morning in communion with his god.
Humming happily, he takes a stroll back towards Gilan's, but he's also enticed by the activity by the gate. Spotting Anuk, he eases on up next to his friend.
"What's twisting them?" he asks with mild curiousity.
Jake Sunday February 15th, 2004 10:42:40 PM
Jake probably finds Gilan's hut too crowded and heads on home, despite the nasty homecoming he's bound to receive. In the morning, bright and early, he's off to the baths, then heading over to the pack's base of operations when he notices the crowd. Instead of asking what's going on, he immediately heads off to see what's going on.
Mac Monday February 16th, 2004 8:42:41 AM
The minotaur's eyes open, and his mind quickly runs throught the sequence of events that led him to be laying here, looking up at a ceiling. After getting his breeches back on, he systematically exercises - getting the blood flowing about his frame. He runs his fingers back through his hair and ties it into a long trailing tail.
"G'mornin'", he says with a grin. He pauses thoughtfully , though totally oblivious to the going on outside, before asking, "Did Gry e'er get back last night? He said he wanted me t'see something, then he left..."
Grymash Monday February 16th, 2004 9:59:22 AM
A dazed Grymash comes back to Anuk's place. He is dressed in what appears to be a simple priestly vestiment of Gargul (black with white trim and Gargul's holy symbol embroidered on his chest. He's also decked out in all his travel gear: backpack, weapons, buckler, rapke jaw-bone necklace. He's also sporting a pretty good sized lump on his head, which Gry appears to be nursing.
"Hey guys, Gry go ta cave ta get me things, but Gry decides ta sleeps down theres. Then alls uh sudden, Gry see Grymarsha, uh baron, uh bounder piggie, an uh rapke ... down in tunnel!!! Gry fight them ... Gry fight hard ... lots of pretty red blood every wheres! Then Gry bump head on cave wall an they all gone ... me in cave by meself all over agains. Rapke and Grymarsha run off, Gry guesses! Gry kills da baron and bounder piggie, buts thay gone too. Dis bumpy lump hurts. Gry not find any mores wounded parts."
Gry sets all his gear down and starts looking for his healers kit. Gry seems to have forgotten that the whole reason he went down to the caves was to retrieve his masterwork orc double axe and armor to show Mac. However trying to make sense of his ordeal and tending to his wounds has taken all his attention.
Just a SMALL mob [DM Matt] Monday February 16th, 2004 4:34:39 PM
"Mumble...Mumble...Mumble...Strangers!" "MurmurmurmurmurmurMonksmurmur OUTER GATE!" "WatermelonwatermelonShip!watermelon"
The crowds seem to be all a buzz as Trellus, Anuk, Flea and Jake try and see what's the buzz. Tell me what's happenin'. Up ahead a monk lectures the crowd to disperse as there is nothing to see.
Jake squeezes through this guy and that and works his way up to where the monk is and behind through the inner gate he can see an very unfamiliar person arguing with two other monks, one he recognizes from the council.
Flea d20+3=14 d20+7=23 Monday February 16th, 2004 11:42:23 PM
Flea hops and jumps (Jump=14, Ha!) in order to see over the heads of the taller folk blocking her view. If I can jump high enough, maybe I can see something? she thinks to herself. (Spot=23)
Tishe' Tuesday February 17th, 2004 2:03:56 AM
Tishe' smiles and offers a hearty breakfast to each person who comes to Gilan's, and cheerfully helps with the cleaning. "Only just to help out."
She is very interested in Gilan's past life and the help he got. "Must have been awful not knowing who you are: what a nightmare! If this Malafret could help you, maybe she'll be a good person to talk to. It seems like I'll have to be careful until I know the right people to ask questions. Certainly, these Monks want to keep everyone ignorant!"
When Grymash comes in with his story and bump, Tishe' forgets everything else. She takes a wet cloth and sees if she can dab his bump. The story has her more concerned. "It must have been a dream, but dreams are not without power. I know of these frightful beaters, and if they are down in these your secret places, it bodes ill."
Tishe' suddenly remembers she is not performing an oral exam. "That dream could mean the Barons are after your secrets."
Too Many Secrets [DM Matt] Tuesday February 17th, 2004 5:23:21 AM
"You can't treat me that way. " "Sir, you are in our city." "But we're lost. We only wish entry for our ship---" "You cannot have entry into the city and that is final. However you may stay as our guest in our outer guest area, but I am sorry to inform you that you may not enter our dwelling. If you will wait here, I will have someone come to attend to your needs and the needs of your crew." *BAP* The inner gate opens abruptly and Jake gets a little bap on the nose with it as the monk comes through. He frowns at seeing Jake there eavesdropping and shakes his head at all the crowd. "Please people go home." Some scatter at his scolding. He makes his way back to the temple, arms folded and tucked inside his sleeves, a troubled look on his face.
Trellus, Flea, and Anuk strain to hear or see anything, but now it looks like things are winding down. Still people all about are whispering.
"What do they want?" "Did you hear about them?" "I think they said they're lost!" "I heard they were pirates!" "Or thieves!" "What do you suppose they want?!" "Are they hear to fight us?" "Maybe they are here to live just like we are." "Did ya get a look at them? They sure are ugly!" "What if they tell people about us?" "Are they merchants?" "No one knows who they are." "We must get rid of them." "The monks don't want them to come in. I bet they are spies."
All the secrets. All the distrust. Most people you talk to indeed do not like the look of things and wish the strangers to go away. And what of their ship? Why aren't the monks telling you what's going on? You try and gather more information from others but most seem to be rumors and speculation.
Anuk d20+10=27 d20+10=15 Tuesday February 17th, 2004 4:20:21 PM
Anuk notices Flea and Trellus among the people gathered at the gates (spot 27)and makes his way over to them, listening to the whispers of the dispersing crowd as he goes, hoping to glean anything useful from the hushed conversations (Listen 15).
"Little strange that they won't let someone in even for a while, don't you think?" he says when he reaches his two packmates. "I mean, it's secretive here, but I always thought of this as a place people could come to get away. I mean, they let Mac and Tishe' in yesterday without too much fuss. I smell somethin' sunbaked here. Think we ought to gather the others and slip outside too see what's happening?"
Trellus d20+3=19 Tuesday February 17th, 2004 4:52:31 PM
Trellus nods as Anuk speaks.
An easy grin spreads across his face. "You'd think they'd figure out a mystery is like water in the grass to us," he laughs.
"Let's try the easy weave first, and see what happens."
Waving for the other two to follow, the cleric boldly walks up to the Inner Gate, and greets the guards on watch. "Good morning! Mind if we pay a call on the traders? Mom's birthday is coming up."
[Diplomacy 19]
Grymash Tuesday February 17th, 2004 6:25:03 PM
Grymash sits there and allows Tishe to tend to his wound. "Yeah ... dat wuz ah dreams. Dat make sense. Dream wuz so real ... Gry have hard time lookin' at whut is real an what not real." Gry abruptly stops giving any more personal information. Whenever he talks about such things people get that strange look in their eye that he doesnt like.
Suddenly Gry hears the commotion coming from the gates. "More visitors!" thinks Gry to himself. Grymash stands to his feet and opens up his vestment to reveal several daggers strapped to his belt. Taking out two, Grymash hands one to Tishe. "Always be ready for worst ... cuz nothin' in da plains ever looks whut they looks ta be!" Upon saying those words a grimacing toothy smile forms across his face. Gry's priestly attire quickly transforms to a dull metalic-green. A wonderous suit of breastplate, meticulously crafted from blades of steely grass, takes its place. Amid the armor, a slight glow of magic as it transforms. People from outside the Sargrass have rarely, if ever, seen such a suit of armor.
As quickly as his armor appeared, it morphs back to a priestly garment. However this time, the vestment becomes a robe with longer sleeves and a hood. Gry is easily able to palm the dagger in his hand underneath the "garment". "Come on, lets go."
Gilan Tuesday February 17th, 2004 8:29:59 PM
Gilan glances to Gry as he enters the house and shakes his head. He can already see that Gry has been down in the cave to get his gear...or at least part of it. "What happened Gry?" He listens as Gry describes what happened to him and he cannot help but get that look that Gry hates.
Gilan looks to Gry as he comments about taking a look at the commotion. He cannot help but nod his head at his big friends comment. "It may not be a bad idea...I saw Trellus and Anuk at there." He lays down the towel and the dry bowl as he makes to exit the hut.
Flea d20+23=27 d20+12=29 d20+9=16 Tuesday February 17th, 2004 11:07:48 PM
When Flea sees most of her pack congregate at the edge of the crowd, she lifts a finger up to her lips, then winks at Trellus.
The rogue disappears into the crowd (Hide=27) and weaves through the throng as quickly as possible (Move Silently=29). She moves past Jake, but as close as possible to the traders in order that she might overhear their conversation (Listen=16).
If the gnome learns anything interesting, she will sneak back to the pack, and report her findings to Trellus and the gang.
Tishe' Wednesday February 18th, 2004 2:21:15 AM
Tishe' is amazed at Grymash's clothing transformations, especially the grass-woven armor. She remembers a high feast day in HookCity where a Walker came close to her with similar protection, but it didn't move from one form to another!
She is less amazed (and a little hesitant) in accepting the dagger. "If I have to use this, the fight has weaved too close." She takes it anyways and hides it in her rainbow colored belt. Ensuring her pouch of spell components and satchel of scrolls are with her, she moves to follow the others to the door.
A muffled croak comes from her clothing. "Hush, Wart." says the plain-faced woman absently.
Jake d20+2=11 Wednesday February 18th, 2004 2:42:55 AM
The curious half-elf can't help but go up to the gate and look for any holes to peer through. (Spot 11. yay me)
Jeeper Creepers [DM Matt] Wednesday February 18th, 2004 6:43:06 AM
Even as Trellus starts to step toward the gate, the guards stare RIGHT AT HIM and shake their head.
"Unh-unh. We were told about you. You are not allowed past here. Sorry kids. This isn't for you. Now move along back to your houses. Galafar's orders. Move along people! Nothing to see."
Jake stares wide-eyed into a crack in the gate and stares straight at the robe of a monk on the other side. Flea does manage to sneak past Jake to get a better view as a monk reenters the outer area and starts to lead a stranger away. He is very tan and dark with long dark hair in waves and curls. He wears no shirt, is muscular and wears creme linen pants and a gold sash.
She can't quite hear anything aside from "This way sir. We'll see to your ships needs out here."
A ship? What kind of ship? And then she sees it. Quite an impressive site it is. Not at all like the normal merchant barges or flats that float in and out every week. A lot more curves and strange shapes in it.
"Alright you guys, enough!" Flea and Jake both each feel a hand grasp their shirts and yank them back. The guard leads the two peeping toms back to Trellus. "These yours? Now look you! No more snooping. Go home. You don't want to get into this."
Those guys are annoying. And they watch you all. VERY closely. All day. Like a hawk.
And no one seems to find anything out about the strangers. Actually it sure is hot out today. Many people give up their quest for gossip and retire to the shade of their huts, which doesn't sound like a bad idea. You take care of your in town business, although any attempts to leave today are strictly forbidden. Not having any better options, you spend the evening reconvening at your favorite cooldown place: the pool.
Mac Wednesday February 18th, 2004 9:53:19 AM
The minotaur chews thoughtfully on breakfast, until he sees the grass steel armour on Gry. It is a few moments before he begins to speak the words, "That's incredible!"
Grymash d20+7=19 Wednesday February 18th, 2004 10:23:10 AM
The large-framed cleric, dressed all in black, walks up next to Trellus and addresses the guard. A mild scent of blood waffs around Gry. It's a type of perfume that clerics of Gargul use to remind others of their mortality. The hood of his black robe hangs low over his head, obsuring his eyes in darkness. The only expression on Gry's face, that can be seen, is a Gargul-like crooked smile. Gry uses his imposing form and creepy atire to full effect when he tries to gain some influence over the guard. (Initimidate 19)
"Yous say yous not let Domi cleric an uh EYE of GARGUL from tendin' ta ours appointed works. Yous try an blind Gargul's eye? Maybe Garguls eye turn blind ta yous when yous stand in front of hims sumeday. An me knows sumeday yous will stands in front of Gargul!"
Sterlin Wednesday February 18th, 2004 4:24:14 PM
Sterlin stands near Gry, gathering his thoughts.
Flea Wednesday February 18th, 2004 6:16:15 PM
The collared rogue shakes herself to get free of the guard. While he admonishes the group she makes a frowny face and spends a great deal of time straightening her outfit, and dusting off invisible dirt.
When they are left alone, she will tell the pack what she saw and heard, including all about the guy with the wavy dark hair, light trousers, golden sash, and bare chest...and oh, yeah...the strange curvy ship
Gilan Wednesday February 18th, 2004 7:31:02 PM
Gilan smiles as he pulls up near the gate and waits for the others to do thier stuff. With a smile he looks around and pulls Trellus to the side. "If you can get me a comprehend languages spell I think I can get outside and back in." He waits to see if Trellus will ask him anymore about his plans but is keeping it to himself at this time.
He has a smile on his face that most definitely spells trouble for not only him but the others as well if he gets caught.
Trellus Wednesday February 18th, 2004 10:40:53 PM
Trellus gives Gilan a smile right back. "Sorry, dude. Don't have that one today."
The beaters seem particularly observant today. The young man reluctantly eases on over to the Rattledam for an evening dip. Maybe they can show the new dudes the caves.
"Hey Anuk," he says, remembering something, "Is that stone of yours empty? Maybe Tishe' and I can fill it up."
Anuk Wednesday February 18th, 2004 10:49:05 PM
Anuk rolls his eyes as the beaters drag Flea and Jake away from the walls and back to the pack. At the mention of Galafar's name, his determination to find out what's happening outside only doubles.
That evening as the pack hangs out at the pool, Anuk sends out a heart touch to everyone but the newcomers. It suddenly occurs to him that he can't send the touch to them. When a quiet moment presents itself, he turns to Trellus. "I was thinking we ought to slip down into the pool and then outside to get a better look at that ship, but, umm...well...Mac and Tishe'...they haven't taken the oath. Can we take them down there? Can we teach them the oath or is that a matter for Malafret?"
Tishe' d20=17 Thursday February 19th, 2004 2:51:22 AM
The small, plain-faced woman moves away with the rest, mumbling to herself. "Knowledge should be for everyone, and I really don't like Galafar." She looks around and gives a conspritoral smile. "What a beater."
Relaxing at the fountain is hardly relaxing, but the water is refreshing. She overhears Anuk talking to Trellus, and pulls herself out of the water to drip beside them.
"If you have a secret way out, why don't you use it?" She puts her hands on her hips and casts a challenging stare. "We need to know why a water-borne ship is in the middle of the grass and you get to tweak Galafar's tail at the same time. Mac and I can wait, or," she pauses thoughtfully, "I've got two Invisibility spells from those scrolls, Mac and I can meet you out there!"
She pauses and looks at the stares given to her by Trellus and Anuk. "You mean you don't know about 'curvy ships' sailing the water? HookCity is on the edge of the 'Plains and a navagable river. I've seen both. Most unusual a ship supposed to be on the water is out here..." She trails off into her own thoughts.
Jake Thursday February 19th, 2004 5:23:48 AM
"A ship," Jake breathes. "Ya know, pack, ah've always dreamed of sailin' the high grass, patchin' through a breezy tumble of shady wind, like tha master of the Plains, taking command of a vessel, seein tha crystal mountains an' tha great blue ocean an' even them things what's called trees. Ah wonder...y'all don't suppose we could borrow the boat, do ya? WHat a thing it'd be, ta have a boat..."
Rumble in the Fountain [ DM Matt] Thursday February 19th, 2004 7:59:50 AM
"Well, well, well, if it isn't da Mudpack!" comes a familiar raspily booming voice from across the fountain. It is an unkempt an crude Half-Orc some would call Malgo. "Hey I got em good with dat didn't I Fist. Mudpack! Dey's got mud on dere face."
"Probably." comes the more quiet and biting voice of a bald human with a close-cropped brown beard that steps into the water beside him, "unless that nasty old Galafar has grounded them again and given them a lecture....oh and loooooooook they've found themselves another whorenun."
"And she can turn them invisible, huh?" slinks a petite blonde fem from the side. "Ha! She can cast magic just like Dancer's a real blonde."
"Hey, you grite! Watch who you're insulting!" Replies a smiley twin of the blonde from the other side. The smiley blond catches sight of Mac and slinks over to him. "Well, is this her BOYfriend? Well, she could certainly grab the BULL by the HORNS with him," she says as she places a hand on his thigh and looks up at him. "It is good to meet you, Mr. Bull. I'm Dancer. But you can call me Dancer " (this last she whispers sultrily into his as close to his ear as she can manage.)
"So I said to myself," continues the young bald human which was called Fist by the half-orc "why is this same bunch of rejects still rumbling around town then I thought, 'Ohhhh! They must be all excited about the ship that's come in.' You kids really don't think you'll be able to find out anything about the ship do you?"
Mac d20+2=16 d20+2=20 Thursday February 19th, 2004 11:23:03 AM
The insults and innuendos fly. "Friends of yours?" he asks to the pack in general.
The slights to the pack and himself are like water off a ducks back (so to speak) (indicative Will Save = 16), though there will be a reckonning for the comments directed towards Tishe'. The promise he has given of his behaviour in Rattledam to the pack is the one thing that prevents Mac seeking an immediate 'apology'.
Dancer's antics, whilst amusing, result in no immediate response from Mac for her to play up to. (Indicative Will Save = 20) After leaving her without attention for a few moments, as he glances quickly about for Gry, Mac finally leans down a little, and in a most unexpectedly condescending tone says, "Hi Dancer. I'm Mac. So, ::drawn out pause for the eye contact:: what are you going to be when you grow up?!"
Trellus Thursday February 19th, 2004 12:02:38 PM
The young man grins happily as the Blackpack approaches. Its been forever since all he had to worry about were these piggies.
"Malgo!" he greets the half-orc with exaggerated happiness. "Scars healed yet?" Trellus stares at Malgo with knowing eyes over a false smile. The half-orc owes them his life, he needs to be reminded of that on occasion.
Casually turning to Fist, he hails the newcomer. "Dude. Nice hair." Trellus wipes his brow, giving it time to sink in. "So, you takin' over the Blacks? Is it too much for Malgo to handle?"
The cleric tries to ignore Dancer. She makes him way too uncomfortable. Way too many soft curves to keep his concentration.
Tishe' Thursday February 19th, 2004 1:25:05 PM
OOC: Sorry, the die roll from last post was to hear Anuk and Trellus. Didn't write it in.
The sudden arrival of the Blackpack is startling, but nothing compared to the poisonous words spewing from thier mouths. Tishe' turns white then red over being called... well, one of those!... and only Mac and Trellus' example of restraint allows her to keep her temper, promise or not.
Nevertheless, she doesn't trust herself to speak, but moves to hide herself more behind the others, half wishing she still had Gry's dagger in her hands.
Gilan Thursday February 19th, 2004 5:26:38 PM
Gilan turns with the appearance of the Blackpack and shakes his head as they begin thier usual taunts. With a smile he nods to each, but his eyes speak volumes. "I figured you guys would have been tired of bothering us all the time." With another twinkle in his eyes from laughter he cannot help but hold laughter back. "Seems the animals around here have been taking an exception to all of you lately." He turns back to keep an eye on Dancer and Mac.
He cannot help but suprese a bit of laughter as Mac just pretty much ignores her. She was always getting attention and few could resist her charms. His one exception is the naming of Tishe' the way they did.
His hands knot into fists as he starts to take a step forward, but catches himself. They had picked on poor Flea when she first arrived too. But he had other ways to get back at them.
Flea Thursday February 19th, 2004 6:17:12 PM
Flea turns her back to the Blackpack, trying to ignore the bullies. The gnome is shocked by the vulgar name-calling. Reaching into a pocket, Flea pulls out a little lump of wax and starts to mumble. Concentrating hard on how she remembered Galafar to sound, she casts her simple Ghost Sound spell so that it appears to originate close behind the nasty beaters Malgo and Fist.
Jake Thursday February 19th, 2004 8:02:31 PM
Unlike the others, Jake actually grins at the other pack. He's always liked them, especially Dancer, whose teasing nature always perked his interest. Even Malgo can be pretty amusing at times. He watches his pack get along with them, sticking in the background and smiling cocksuredly.
Grymash d20+7=21 Thursday February 19th, 2004 8:38:35 PM
From the back of the Bloodpack sounds off a series of knuckles cracking and neck popping. Gry pulls his hood back to reveal a grimace most foul. He pushes aside his own pack members to stand before the human who spoke so ill of Tishe. Small trickle of blood streams down his chin from biting his lip with his huge tusks. Grymash's breathing is heavy with disgust and a underlying rage. One deep exhale sends a little glob of drooly blood at the bald human face. (BTW, Do we know these humans?)
Grymash barks, "ENOUGH!! Yous make angry Gry! An yous better make good words wit new packers ... take back bad words yous say! Or Gry swear me add ya teeth ta Gry's collection!" Grymash presents to the Black pack his grisly rapke jawbone necklace. (Intimidate 21)
His dagger eyes stare hard at the bald human, only slightly distracted by Malgo. Gry grunts and growls at him in orc, "Does this jaw look familiar to you? It should! It came from the rapke that almost had you for dinner, you stupid, weak half-human. Keep it up with the insults and I'll tell all how orc blood doesnt flow through your veins. That a small human girl-child saved your life. You pathetic pup!"
Anuk Thursday February 19th, 2004 10:44:38 PM
When the Blackpack arrives, Anuk looks at them with mild amusement. So much has happened since that night Malgo and Blue dared them to find the glass grass pod. I can't believe I ever really cared about what these whitehands think, he chuckles to himself.
Then the 'whorenun' remark comes out and Anuk is up on his feet in a flash. With surprising speed he is in the water and right up next to the bald treadle. Through gritted teeth he says, "If I were you I wouldn't talk about your mother that way. She may hear you and feelings could get...hurt."
Gilan Friday February 20th, 2004 7:45:55 PM
Gilan lays his hand on Tishe''s shoulder as she mover behind one of the other pack members. With a shake of his head he can see it coming to blows again between the two packs, but this time he was kind of wanting it to.
Nodding as both Gry and Anuk step forward he smiles as he stares at the two Blackpack members. "You would do well to let this one drop Malgo...I think you have bigger fish to fry." Anyone should realize that there is a lot of things happening outside, unless Fist has kept his mouth shut to keep his disgrace from his pack. "Did not your pack member give you any idea of what is going on outside with enemies of Rattledam." His eyes flick to Fist with an appraising look as he waits to see Malgo's reaction.
Flea Friday February 20th, 2004 10:08:24 PM
Flea moves in to stand beside Tishe'. The gnome is trembling from a combination of fear and anger.

Dancer looks up at Mac slinkily and says with a wink "I'd like to raise cows. I'd milk the cows and then I'd eat the cows." She playfully paws his snout and catches Mac's glances to Tishe, "But I see you already have a dairy mai--" She stops dead as she sees Grymash wind up. SHe nervously laughs and running her finger down his snout smiles back to Mac.
"Yes maybe we should be a--" says Dalakite and turns. "Well, Jake, that's the nicest smile you've ever had. What you been horsin around with? So you ever want to be a memeber of a good pack?"
"Hey guys! Hey Guys! Guess what! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" Trips a halfling who has just sprinted into the water and then fallen flat in fear in front of Grymash. "DOn't hurt me. Don't hurt me Grymash. Trellus call him off!"
Malgo is actually backing up a step and then hears something and turns around behind him to see nothing there. Then grimaces in frustration. "Blue!" he snaps.
Mac (Graham) d20+4=6 Sunday February 22nd, 2004 12:27:45 PM
Mac listens as far as "then I'd eat the cows." and, realising Dancer isn't slow on the uptake, retorts, "Little Miss Cannibal!", calling her a cow, without calling her a cow, and still not wanting to break into the monkey jokes he learned when he was young.
Then (finally!) Mac starts looking at this from a warrior's perspective. This other pack is providing a distraction. A distraction for whom? Paying Dancer just enough attention to avoid a knife coming from her direction, he glances about left and right, trying to spot (Spot Check = 6. Oh well!) who else amongst the crowd might be with this other pack, just as Gry makes with the unfriendly talk. Trusting his training over his eyes, he catches Trellus' attention. "Who else is missi...", as the halfling splashes to a halt at Gry's feet. "Okay. Who ELSE is missing from this dance?"
Trellus Sunday February 22nd, 2004 9:57:29 PM
Trellus' grin gets even broader. It's just too funny watching the reaction of dudes who think they've just crossed the point of no return with Gry.
But, he'd better try to warp down Mac. The taur doesn't know the rules. "It's shady," he whispers quickly. "There's no fighting allowed. The beaters would be all over us if one started. So just warp down and be easy."
Not that it would stop Gry. Trellus can do nothing but hope his friend isn't REALLY shuttlecocked. Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time he had to clean the privies because of the half orc.
Back to Blue....
The cleric sighs deeply. "Well I'll try," he considers dubiously. "Maybe if you tell us your news, he'll get distracted, and forget to squish you." Trellus gives Anuk a wink. What a totally waxed game!
Flea Sunday February 22nd, 2004 10:27:53 PM
Flea snickers when Malgo is spooked by her little trick. Looking around at all her friends, and then the rather puny looking gang taunting them, she feels more confident.
The gnome keeps her place next to Tishe', and stands with one foot forward, her arms crossed over her chest, and her chin tilted up defiantly.
Jake Monday February 23rd, 2004 12:55:00 AM
"Oh, ah dunno. Ah don't know of any 'good' packs, ah guess. Besides, any 'good' pack'd be all boring, following tha rules, eating the dirt that them priests walk on... Gimme a glass-grass-swillin', trouble-causin', shadecruising pack lahk my own." But despite his words, which used to come easily to him, Jake looks over the rest of his pack and is startled at the changes. People come and go...most of his pack is there, but there's also new people, uncomfortably foreign. An uncomfortable look remains in his eyes, though his face remains solid.
Tishe' d20=16 Monday February 23rd, 2004 2:00:05 AM
The plain-faced woman takes a calming breath, and first notices (Spot=16) the stances of the Bloodpack against the Blackpack. Why, Trellus and Jake seem to be having fun! Hearing the Cleric of Domi speak about 'no fighting' reminds Tishe' of the admonition from the Monks, and she takes another breath.
"Sometimes, you can fight just as well with words, Trellus." she says, teeth tight, but trying to put on a nice smile. "Spellcasters know that better than most."
Tishe' is surprised and pleased the others came to her defense. In SkyHook, it would've been between Dancer and Tishe' and no one would have backed either person. But it is unfair for the others to defend her honor alone. She just can't think of anything good (or bad) to say.
She stands by Flea, keeping her temper under control.
Sterlin Monday February 23rd, 2004 9:33:51 AM
Sterlin in deep thought as usual stands and faces the blackpack. " Fools, bloodpack is no longer interested in children's games and mudslinging. We have spilt the blood of vile things much more intimidateing than your feeble attempt at bullying. Approach us as adults if you want respect. Your current behavior merely makes you look rather ignorant and immature. "
Grymash d20+5=15 d20+9=29 d20+9=24 d20+5=17 Monday February 23rd, 2004 4:09:35 PM
(Will save 15, to not totally lose it)
"GRY NOT HEAR SORRY WORDS FROM BALDY!!! BALDY GETTIN' IT!! AUUGGHHH!!" bellows the near-enraged half-orc.
Suddenly Gry's large hands thrust forward to grab the unapologetic Blackpacker (the bald human who called Tishe a whore). (Touch attack, hit AC 29, natural 20, Grapple check 24) Gry tries to pin the human over his large shoulder (strength check 17, if needed). Then Gry begins to stomp his way out of the water, with blackpacker in tow, and make his way up to the over-hanging bridge. "GRY GONNA TEACH YA HOW TA FLY NOW!!"
Anuk Monday February 23rd, 2004 7:18:24 PM
Anuk's slight smile acknowledges Trellus' wink and then he's back to staring down the bald human. His eyes grow wide as Gry unexpectedly grabs the hairless guy and makes for the bridge. Whoops, didn't mean for it to go this far, he thinks. This is certainly gonna make an impression on Malgo and the others. Well, if it's gonna be a fight, might as well go all the way.
With a grin, he moves to get between Gry and the rest of the Blackpack to make sure Gry's got time to get up to the bridge. Hoping to goad the treadles into doing something stupid, he looks Malgo and the others over and says, "You know, your friend's gonna look funny with no arms as well as no hair."
(OOC: Do we know the bald guy or is he new to us? How 'bout the halfling - he seems to know Trellus)
Gilan Monday February 23rd, 2004 9:44:37 PM
Gilan groans and grimaces inwardly as he sees Fist get grabbed by Gry. He knew that it would come to this, though he kind of enjoys it. "Well Trellus...might want to get ready for the worst." He is smiling as he says this and moves to position himself to move on any of the Blackpack.
He glances to Gry as he carries the man to the bridge. "Maybe Gry will just throw him in...but I would vote for a few dunks instead." He just cannot get the smile of his face. He wanted to be the grownup here, but still feels the Blackpack are in need of some serious payback.
ADM MikeS Wednesday February 25th, 2004 11:07:19 PM
As things between the packs begin to get a little noisy, the usual crowd of children and others gathered at the pool stops and looks to see what the trouble is. A few of the younger onlookers try to egg things on with cries of "Fight!" and "Black and Blood are goin' at it! Shady!". In the distance the bald heads of several monks can be seen, but they seem preoccupied with something else, and unaware of what's happening here.
Mac spends a moment looking around at the crowd, but sees no sign of anyone else who might be planning to help the Blackpack. Tishe' and Flea stand together to face down the others, while Jake and Sterlin each let the Blackpack know where they stand.
Then, just as Trellus is trying to get a bit of information out of Blue, Grymash suddenly lifts the surprised Fist into the air and over his shoulder. He moves easily toward the center of the small bridge overlooking the pool, and Anuk and Gilan move quickly to block it's entrance.
"Let go of me, you stupid, drooling son-of-a-prairie-pig!" shouts Fist from his perch. "Put me down!!"
Dalakite and Malgo move up toe-to-toe with Gilan and Anuk. "Tell your friend to let Fist go," says Dalakite, her eyes flashing with obvious anger. A low growl is the only sound that emanates from Malgo. Dancer backs slowly away from Mac and toward her sister.
Just as things start to get tense there is a sudden shout from the most unlikely place. "Will EVERYONE just WARP DOWN!!" shouts the usually gentle Blue, his face going nearly as red as his hair. His recent fear of being trampled by Gry seems to have been replaced by anger. "I've got news and it...is...IMPORTANT!"
Grymash d20+9=19 d20+5=13 d20+2=17 d20+2=5 Thursday February 26th, 2004 12:56:46 AM
Gry continues to stomp up onto the bridge with a grimacing scowl etched across his brow. "Wha?! Fist want down? Is dat all?!" Gry takes Fist in both his hands and lifts him high above his head (Grapple check 19). Gry lunges forward sending Fist over the edge of the bridge and down into the pool below (Strength check 13. Wisdom check 17 to be aware of where in the pool to throw him, in order to avoid injury)
"Haa haa ha ha ha HHaaahaa! Oh Gry sorry hee hee... did ya mean let ya down up here? Haa haa, OHHH! Gry not know..," says Gry as he chuckles uncontrollably. "Gry sorry ... me just stupid piggie! HAA HAA HAA HAAHAHAAHAHAA!"
Gry holds shakes his fists into the air in victory as he laughs. Only pausing to take hold of his gut. "Hee hee oohh oh ... dat makin' Gry hurt, hee hee!" (Listen check 5) Grymash doesnt hear Blue in all the excitement.
Tishe' Thursday February 26th, 2004 1:24:09 AM
The plain-looking woman hears the concern and urgency in the halfling's voice. Blue? Yes, that was it. And he's wearing the same symbology as Grymash; very interesting.
But despite her wavering interest over the news Blue has, Tishe' can't help wearing a satisfied smile at Fist's unfortunate predicament.
"Serves him right, getting his mouth washed out.", she says nodding in the pools direction. "Maybe he'll be more polite when next we meet." An ominous note in her voice promises Fist won't like the experience.
Tishe' now turns her attention to Blue and Trellus, and the important news the halfling brings.
Jake d20+9=27 Thursday February 26th, 2004 3:07:44 AM
Jake hops over to see Grymash throw the guy in the water. He laughs as the guy goes head over heels into the water. While Grymash is congratuling himself and laughing, Jake gets a look in his eye and says, "Good job Grymash!" while simultaneously patting the half-orc on the back just hard enough to send him sprawling right after Fist. (I guess it's a bull rush or grapple check..ac 27) Immediately after, Jake makes sure to back out of distance of being thrown in the water after him. "Whoops! Gry, you gotta be more careful with your footing."
Trellus Thursday February 26th, 2004 10:38:31 AM
Trellus' grin fades a bit as he sees how agitated Blue is acting. Its not like him.
The cleric is about to try and calm some people when Gry chucks Fist into the pool. Trellus's face scrunches up as he cringes.
Jake may have saved the day, though. A wet Grymash ought to lighten the mood with everybody but the half orc. "You might want to start running now, Jake!" the cleric calls out kindly.
Turning to Blue, he asks sincerely "What's weaving?"
Trellus has always liked Blue, he just can't figure out why the kind-hearted halfling sticks around with the Blackpack.
Gilan Thursday February 26th, 2004 12:24:55 PM
Gilan stands his ground to the two before him. "I would like to but Gry has a mind of his own." Not taking his eyes off of either of them he hears the splash and smiles. "Looks like he is down already so I don't think we have anything to worry about." His eyes flash but his attention is caught by Blue who suddenly lets everyone know that he has IMPORTANT information.
Then he hears another splash and turns to see Gry in the water. He then glances to the bridge but hears Jake first. "Hope he doesn't dunk you by your ankles this time Jake...he had a hard time decideing when to raise you last time." Then he pushes his way past Malgo and Dalakite to stop short of Blue. "I have always respected you as a person Blue...what have you got to tell everyone." Blue was the level headed one and the last to really pick on anyone...cruelly anyways.
Flea Thursday February 26th, 2004 6:05:08 PM
Flea clasps both hands over her mouth to stiffle her laughter.
Anuk Thursday February 26th, 2004 10:59:18 PM
At the sound of the first splash, Anuk grimaces, but continues to stare directly into Malgo's eyes. Gry's laughter lets him know that Fist got what he deserved, but it's sure to anger the rest of the Black pack even further.
Then there's the unexpected second splash. Anuk's head whips around in time to see Gry's head emerge from the pool and Jake looking down on the big guy. When Anuk turns back around, he's grinning from ear to ear. "Looks like everyone's learning to swim today," he says.
ADM MikeS Thursday February 26th, 2004 11:46:41 PM
When Grymash reaches the top of the bridge, the crowd suddenly goes silent. The splash of water as Fist goes into the pool and Gry's laughter are the only sounds to be heard. Then Jake pushes Gry and the big half-orc topples off the bridge, plunging into the water and narrowly missing Fist. After a moment of dreadful silence, the crowd erupts with laughter and then slowly returns to it's own business.
The bald monk sloshes out of the water, fuming and sputtering, but in no mood for further trouble. He tramps over to join Malgo and Dalakite, muttering and cursing under his breath the whole time. "Forget 'em," he tells his packmates. "They don't deserve our attention. Let's go."
Dalakite calls out, "Nice shove there, Jake. Thanks for giving us a hand."
Malgo looks at Gilan and says, "You and your pack are lucky today. We won't be teaching you the lesson you deserve...yet. Dancer, Blue...c'mon let's move!"
Blue looks up at Trellus and Tishe' and seems to shrink back into himself. "G-go?" he says. "But...but...there's a guy. He's inside the walls...we gotta find him. The monks are warped up tight about it."
Fist shoots Blue a fierce look and Malgo says, "Blue, I said 'let's move'. Enough with weaving your stories. It's always one emergency after another with you. Just shut up and c'mon. We've wasted enough time here with these treadles."
Blue looks nervously at the half-orc, then back at Trellus. With a resigned shrug, he begins to move off toward Malgo and the others.
Tishe' Friday February 27th, 2004 1:38:37 AM
Interested in the 'guy inside the walls', suspicious of the Blackpack, and still downright fuming over Fist's comment, Tishe' will let others do the talking.
She continues to stand by Flea and behind the others, her swimming shift slowly drying in the evening air.
Trellus Friday February 27th, 2004 3:00:53 PM
Dude inside the town twisting the monks? Shady!
Trellus calls everyone over for a quick huddle. He doesn't worry about Gry and Jake. Once Gry gets his revenge on the fighter, everything will be back to normal.
He surveys the drenched half orc and prankster with a grin. Actually, its pretty much back to normal already.
"Dudes!" he tells them excitedly. "While Gry was takin' his bath, Blue was sayin there's a guy in town thats got the beaters all warped up. How 'bout we do a little hunting?"
Grymash d20+9=20 d10=8 Friday February 27th, 2004 6:16:41 PM
Gry has that sinking feeling that he's also the victim of a joke! Gry also realizes he's not going to swim very well. Not only is he fully clothed but he's fully armored. Along with 10 daggers strapped to his body (one dagger with Tishe) he's got a little more than 25lbs. weighing him down.
Now that he finds himself standing on the bottom of the pool, obscentities spill from his mouth but they're all translated into bubbles. However the only word that is legible, to those underwater, would be "JAKE!!" (Heck, I'll give those above water a Listen DC of 25 to hear it too :)
Gry only pauses to watch Fist swim back to shore above him. He chuckles for a short moment until his mind quickly returns to thinking of his next act of revenge!
Gry then envokes the power of Freedom of Moment, granted to him by Gargul (spell-like ability of travel domain, 1 round only), and easily walks back to shore. The water doesnt seem to impede his movement at all. As if it werent even there. Not a splash or ripple he makes as he creeps up behind Jake and taps him on the shoulder. As soon as Jake turns Gry spits a large mouth-full of water into his face. (I think Gry's proficient with spitting, LOL. Hit touch AC 20, for 8 points of wetness!)
Gilan Friday February 27th, 2004 7:25:39 PM
Gilan is able to catch what Blue has to say till he is barked down. He gives Trellus that look and nods. "Someone sneaking in is not a good thing...usually everyone wants to sneak out." He glacnes around to the others his eyes narrowed in thought. He shakes his head at the idea that had come to him. "Without a description it would never work." Looking to the rest he poses one question that should be most obvious. "What is it that someone would sneak in here for...what do we have that an outsider would want?"
He can think of several little items of various power that are held by the monks and clerics here, but would they be that important. "Looks like the safety of Rattledam maybe at stack here." With a laugh he lightly speaks so that only the group can hear him. "The Circle rides again."
Anuk d20+10=26 Friday February 27th, 2004 11:39:28 PM
Anuk is walking over to join Trellus, Tishe' and the others when he hears a slurping noise that sounds a lot like 'Jake!' coming from somewhere near the pool (listen 26). "Gry?" he says, looking for the source of the noise. Then he spots Grymash emerging from the pool and sneaking up behind Jake. When Gry sprays Jake, Anuk chuckles to himself. "Shoulda seen that coming," he says under his breath.
ADM MikeS Friday February 27th, 2004 11:58:56 PM
While Gry gives Jake his just desserts, the rest of the pack gathers to discuss what to do next.
Meanwhile, Blue joins the rest of the Blackpack. As they start to move out, Blue suddenly stops and says rather loudly, "Fist, don't ignore me...I'm serious! Dancer? You believe me, don't you? He cut through the wall and now he's inside. I SAW him! He was over by the storage bins near the temple."
"Shut up, Blue," says Fist. "We've had enough false emergencies from you in the past. Malgo, pick him up."
The one-eyed half orc grabs the halfling and hauls him over his shoulder in a manner awfully reminiscent of Grymash and Fist. The Blackpack moves away and you hear Blue's voice trailing off in the distance, but all you can make out are the words "sailor", "black shirt", and "scar".
Tishe' Saturday February 28th, 2004 3:34:51 AM
The small woman chuckles. "I could actually get to like Blue," she says. "It seems like the information Gilan wanted is now ours for the weaving."
"Most of you have all your threads lived here. Also, few people come or go. Shouldn't a stranger be easy to spot for you? But first, I need to go back to Gilan's home and change." At this, she indicates her still damp swimming shift.
As she is walking back to change, she turns to Gilan. "Riding? I haven't seen any horses since I've been on the plains. What do you ride; Rapkes?"
Flea Saturday February 28th, 2004 10:11:22 AM
Having momentarily disappeared, Flea returns to the pack on the run. She has a huge grin on her face. Arriving just as Gilan speaks, she pipes up, "did you way sneaking?"
(OOC: As a result of the Catacombs transaction each member of the party who was involved in the battle to defend the cocoon is richer by 1553 GP, and change (Anuk, Flea, Gilan, Grymash, Jake, and Trellus.) There is also the 40 PP, 250 GP, 200 SP, and 5 CP that is the group/party treasure.)
Jake Saturday February 28th, 2004 12:02:25 PM
Jake takes the face-watering with grinning humility and wipes his face. Joining the group, he listens, and catches the last words of Blue. He looks at Tishe and somewhat jokingly says, "You don't ride Rapkes...unless you're one of the baron's men. Although..." He does silently admit it could be possible to tame one...and now that he thinks about it would be shady.. He looks to his packmates, and says, "I don't know about you guys, but I think we should go check out around the temple. Blue said something about a sailor...that's like, a guy who weaves on water, right? I wanna find out." And without further ado, he takes point on the way there and waits for others to follow.
Mac Sunday February 29th, 2004 8:05:52 AM
"We're gonna cross paths with that pack a often?", Mac asks with a regretful sigh, and looking at the soaked Gry adds, "Your Gargul is nae the only one who'ld see ser'ous amends made for his kinda language. Thank ye for steppin' in after I'd promised the pack not to give the monks a reason to make life worse for us all.", and offers him his hand to shake.
Tishe' Sunday February 29th, 2004 5:01:26 PM
Quickly gets back to Gilan's house, changes, and comes back to the group with her only weapon, Grymash's dagger, in her colored belt.
Sterlin Monday March 1st, 2004 5:51:09 AM
" Hopefully, they are wise enough to avoid actual combat with bloodpack. "
Trellus Monday March 1st, 2004 8:57:55 AM
Trellus waits with a patient grin while Gry and Jake finish up.
"OK dudes," he says, "Let's check out those bins. We're looking for a new guy with a black shirt and a scar. Me, Gilan, Jake, Anuk, and Gry know just about everybody in town, so it shouldn't be THAT hard."
The cleric starts trotting over to the bins around the temple.
Grymash Monday March 1st, 2004 10:31:36 AM "Wha!? Raider in Rattledam! Gry go gets axe." Grymash leaves for Gilan's house immediately.
DM George "Hide and Seek" Monday March 1st, 2004 4:26:54 PM
Several members of the group run to Gilan's house and return quickly with their weapons. Grymash feels much better now that he is armed.
The group starts heading over towards where the intruder was allegedly last seen. Activity in the area is more intense. Several people can be seen poking around the bins and looking under canvases. The group nears the wall and to everyone's consternation, there is a hole in it. Suddenly in the distance, you hear a bell starting to ring from the direction you just came from. It is an alarm bell. Several towns people start running in that direction.
Please roll spot checks
Trellus d20+8=24 Monday March 1st, 2004 4:55:12 PM
The blond man rubs the back of his head.
"Well, do we run back to the dam, check around here, or beat it down to the caves and get totally shuttlecocked for a fight?" Trellus wonders aloud.
He surveys the area, looking for inspiration. [Spot 24]
"If everybody else is weaving for the dam, how 'bout we stay here and see if one of you sneaky dudes can find some clues?" he offers.
Flea d20+7=8 Monday March 1st, 2004 6:38:01 PM
"Who? What?" questions the gnome, as she shakes her head from side to side trying to see what all the commotion is about. Flea is so distracted, she can barely see the members of her pack as they respond to the alarm. (Spot=8, ugh).
Anuk d20+10=20 d20+8=28 Monday March 1st, 2004 10:56:15 PM
When the alarm bell rings, Anuk looks up to see what all the noise is for (spot 20).
"Looks like everyone's headed that way. I'm with you Trellus...let's stay here for a bit and see what we find. Whatever came in that hole may try to get back out the same way."
Anuk spends a little time poking around the area looking for any clues that may present themselves (search 28 - nat 20!).
Gilan d20+6=12 Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 12:12:20 AM
Gilan glances around at all of the others as he searches the area. Then the bells start peeling and he knows there is real trouble about.
With a glance to Trellus he nods at the idea of staying where they are. With another thought he starts the words to a spell that will allow him to be in two places at once. "Fion ta glae." With a glance to his two wasps he talks to them in a series of hums and buzzes, then sends them off to report back on what they find at the bell. He also gives them a description of the man they seek, knowing that they are smart enough to fit the image he gives. "They will scout out the bell and report back to me."
[spot: 12]
Jake d20+3=16 Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 2:45:22 AM
"An alarm!" Jake can't help it...trouble always draws him, like those cookies Milo used to make... Without even looking to his packmates, he takes off towards the direction of the alarm, though his half-elven eyes do catch most things quite observantly (spot of 16).
Mac d20+4=24 Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 7:04:17 AM
Spot Check = 24 (natural 20 - Wow!)
Mac looks at Trellus and Anuk as Grymash run for his axe. "Would it be a good time for me t'gather my axe?"
Tishe' (MikeK) d20=13 Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 8:27:18 AM
The redhead spins around at the sound of the alarm. "Bells! Is that trouble?" She starts out after Jake, but only takes about three steps before realizing nobody else is going with him.
"Huh?" she says intelligently, looking back to the group.
[Spot 13]
Grymash d20+4=21 Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 2:25:12 PM "Ok, Gry back... where pack look first? Do pack splits up? Send heart tickles whens we sees sumethin'!"
(Spot 21)
DM George "What was that?" d20+17=23 Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 3:30:24 PM
The majority of the party decides to stay in the area and keep looking here. Only Jake gives in to temptation and runs off to see what the alarm bell is about. Tishe starts to follow but stops when she realizes that only she and Jake are going.
Several of the characters see smoke starting to rise from a different section of town. It must be some sort of fire. Could Rattledam be on fire, or worse under attack?
Trellus catches something in the corner of his eye and when he looks more closely he believes he sees a shadow moving through the hole in the wall. He only sees a glimpse and then it is gone.
The hole in the wall is not large. Only about one foot wide and two feet tall. The group is around 90' away from the hole and there are a few other citizens between the Bloodpack and the hole.
Trellus d20+8=26 Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 8:39:08 PM
The cleric's answer to the taur is to the point. "Yes"
"Something just went out that hole," he tells his friends.
Trellus jogs over to the hole, looks out to see if he can see anything [Spot 26], and then beckons for Flea, Anuk, and Sterlin. "Any tracks or anything?" he asks.
Gilan d20+6=23 Tuesday March 2nd, 2004 10:45:15 PM
Gilan moves off to follow along with Trellus. He feels rather naked without his equipment. "It is going to be hard to follow that man and still get our gear." He glances back in the direction of the swimming hole and grimaces. "Maybe a few of us could go down and get our gear then meet back up outside?"
He glances around to see if his wasps have returned with any new for him. He figures that they will be able to tell him something.

(Spot 8, Listen 22, Movement 40'/Run 120')
Anuk d20+12=26 Wednesday March 3rd, 2004 1:05:58 PM
Anuk follows Flea and the others over to the hole in the wall. He spends a few moments seeing if he can determine what came through the hole and what direction it went when it left (survival/track 26).
If he sees nothing they can follow immediately, he says, "I'm gonna need my bow. Gilan, mind helping me gather everyone's stuff? Where should we meet up, everyone?"
Sterlin d20+5=25 Wednesday March 3rd, 2004 2:24:32 PM
Sterlin follows Grymash to find the source of conflict. (spot check 25)
DM George "Tracks" Wednesday March 3rd, 2004 5:04:50 PM
The main party races to the hole in the wall and looks around for tracks. The are easy to see as the tall grasses are bent and pushed in one direction as if someone bulled right through them.
Anuk is successful tracking and notices that the footprint of the quarry isn't very deep and rather small. Either a child or maybe a halfling made them.
When Grymash stops running and listens he hears something crashing through the grass up ahead. Who ever is moving through the grasses isn't trying to be quiet.
Flea is looking around and something dawns on her. The direction the person is running to is toward the docks.
Jake is still racing towards the commotion and starts to see a lot of smoke. There is a major fire somewhere ahead.
Tiev and Zilia buzz on ahead and notice the smoke too.
Sterlin Wednesday March 3rd, 2004 7:14:03 PM
Sterlin says to Grymash, " Do you think maybe we are being led somewhere? The guy sure is being noisy."
Jake Wednesday March 3rd, 2004 9:08:51 PM
Jake abruptly realizes his pack has left him...but he notices the smoke. Fire can be dangerous in the plains, where there's very little water, and what's worse, this is unusual! So it's worth seeing, even if the others aren't there... He rushes on, listening for cries and trying to get a better view of what's happening.
Gilan Wednesday March 3rd, 2004 9:12:36 PM
Gilan glances to Anuk and shakes his head. "We will go get the gear and then meet you outside." He jerks his thumb back the way you came and towards the waterpool. "Where do we meet up?" Once he finds out this he will take off at a run for the pool. He has a nagging suspicion that something is wrong, but at least three of them are armed and ready.
Flea d20+7=9 d20+12=20 Wednesday March 3rd, 2004 10:31:03 PM
Flea heads off full tilt after Grymash. I wonder if the one we persue had anything to do with what is going on in the city? the gnome thinks to herself. She searches the grass for whatever it is that seems to be fleeing the place,(Spot=9) but looses her focus as she reaches for one of her daggers tucked in a sheath at the back of her waist. Despite her haste, her soft leather boots make no sound (Move Silently=20) as she tries to sneak up on the fugitive.
Grymash (Longstrider) d20+5=24 Thursday March 4th, 2004 9:28:13 AM "No Sterlin.. dat mean da treadle be runnin' away!" Grymash takes a short moment and mutters a few words of power. (Casting Longstrider) With that being said Gry takes off into the grass after the other. As he gives chase, the grass lashes against him making a similar sound.
(Listen 24, Movement: 50 feet)
Trellus d20+8=27 Thursday March 4th, 2004 9:41:32 AM
Well, this is unraveling rather quickly.
Trellus tries to take stock.
"OK. Me and Tishe' are stayin' right here, guarding this hole, and waiting for Mac. 'Nuk and Gilan, come back here with our stuff.
Sterlin, go with those two (Flea and Grymash), and try to keep Gry warped down."
The cleric continues to keep an eye out the hole. [Spot 27] He suspects Sterlin is right. The trail back is too obvious. Maybe somebody still wants to use the new opening to move about.
Mac d20+4=23 Thursday March 4th, 2004 10:44:36 AM
The Taur returns with full kit (such as it is) to find Trellus, Tishe' and a hole in the wall. He looks about, getting his bearings. [Spot = 23] "Who'd wanna breach the walls like this?" Mac gives Tishe' a slight smile, but despite it he still thinks certain members of the Blackpack could do with a lesson or three in courteous behaviour.
Tishe' Thursday March 4th, 2004 11:09:30 AM
Follows Trellus' advice and moves to cover the hole. Most her stuff is wherever Grymash took it, but she has her spells (and the half-orc's dagger for close in work)
"I haven't a clue, Mac, but our new friends seem to know what they are doing."
She turns her head toward the cleric of Domi. "If you need, I can seal that up tight. 'Course, that would put the others on the wrong side, but if you need to..."
Anuk Thursday March 4th, 2004 12:37:52 PM
Anuk says, "These tracks are small...could be that one of the kids went out. If one of the piggies is outside the wall, we better get 'em back inside quick. It's dangerous out there. Gilan and I will get back here as fast as we can." Then he runs with Gilan to retrieve the gear.
DM George "To Boldly Go..." Thursday March 4th, 2004 4:53:24 PM
Jake and the wasps get closer to the fire and see that a store was aflame. A bucket brigade has been formed and several of the monks are leading the effort. One of the bystanders can be heard to say, "I can't believe someone would deliberately do this. What a horrible thing. Imagine your whole life going up in smoke."
Annuk and Gilan are running to get their gear. The should be able to rejoin the group by the hole in a few minutes.
Trellus, Mac and Tishe are guarding the hole when a bald monk comes up to them. He asks, "What are you doing here? Did you make this hole?" He doesn't look to happy.
Sterlin, Grymash, and Flea are chasing the alleged spy. They have been moving for several minutes. When Grymash activates his spell he quickly outdistances the other two and seems to be catching up to the person running ahead of him.
Suddenly Grymash breaks out into a clearing. He can see a dock and a ship starting to slip away. He sees a diminutive person, a halfling, starting to climb a rope that has been lowered to him from the ship. The halfling and the ship are around 100' away.
Grymash (ac19, longstrider) d20+9=10 d20+9=29 d20+9=19 d8+7=11 2d8(8+6)+7=21 Thursday March 4th, 2004 6:24:51 PM
Grymash spys the halfling trying to get away. Anger boils up within him but he remains in control. "Dat lil treadle tryin' ta gets away, kill him, cut him down, No! not yet!," thinks the barbarian.
Hoping everyone would hear him, Gry shouts at the top of his lungs, "STOP YA SUN-BAKED PIGGIE ... CANT RUN FROM GRY ... GRROOWWWLLLL!!"
Grymash charges toward the halfling and the boat with all the speed he can muster. He swings back his deadly double axe at the final foot of his charge and coldcocks the halfling with the flat, broad-edged side of his blade.
(Charge: +2 hit, double move= 100-ft. Non-lethal damage: -4 penalty to hit. Hit AC 10. Hero point, Hit AC 29 crit threat. Threat hit AC 19. If no crit: 11 points of nonlethal damage. If a crit: 32 points of non-lethal damage. Doesnt someone lose Dex to AC when they run or climb?)
"GRY GONNA MAKE YA SQUEAL, PIGGIE!! AUUGHHHH!!" bellows the half-orc.
Gilan Thursday March 4th, 2004 7:03:02 PM
Gilan makes it to the pool and looks around to make sure noone is watching. He slips into the waters and dives down the long tunneling that leads to their gear. He comes out dripping wet but a whole lot better on the whole of things.
Glancing back he sees Anuk emerge after him and he points to the cubbies. "Guess we should get this stuff and make it to that hole in the wall." He makes to his hole and gathers his own gear after drying off as much as possible. He allows Anuk to grab half the peoples' gear and he gets the rest.
He will then slip out the cave and head in the direction of the hole in the wall to meet up with the others. He will pause only long enough for Anuk to keep up with him.
[OOC: The two wasp stat are still the same. Will send you an update when I reach level 6 though. Tishe will also find all her weapons inside of Gilan's house as that is where Gry put both new poeples' stuff.]
Mac Thursday March 4th, 2004 7:14:38 PM
OOC: Following on from Gilan's OOC: Mac would have have enough nouse to pick up Tishe's things at Gillan's and have given them to her when he caught back up with Tishe' and Trellus. Can we take this as read?
Graham/Mac
Flea Thursday March 4th, 2004 11:20:28 PM
Flea's regular training has made her lean and fit, but her diminutive stature does not allow her to cover as much ground as her larger friends. Regardless, she keeps running, taking her bearings from the lound shouting she recognizes as that of her pack-mate, Gry.
Not knowing what they may face, she mutters under her breath, "no friend of mine will stand alone!"
(OOC: base speed 20' x 4 running = 80 ')
Jake d20+3=19 Friday March 5th, 2004 12:13:19 AM
Jake runs up to the structure, and calls out, "Is anyone inside??? HElllllO?" Then, if there's no answer (Listen 19), he joins the bucket brigade. Otherwise, he charges in heedless of the flames to save whoever's in there...
Trellus d20+3=5 Friday March 5th, 2004 8:33:54 AM
Trellus looks at the monk in confusion. Half of Rattledam has been running like a runaway loom for the last thirty minutes. And this beater thinks they just created this hole?
Attempting to control himself, he answers. "No, Brother. My friends and I thought that the other attacks might be a diversion to allow more people through this hole. We're just guarding it too make sure no one else gets in or out."
[Diplomacy - 5]
Anuk Friday March 5th, 2004 2:31:52 PM
Anuk trails just behind Gilan, grabs his own gear and that of the others, then begins making his way back toward the hole as quickly as he can.
Tishe' Friday March 5th, 2004 4:56:16 PM
With everything going on, Tishe' completely forgot her equipment was stored at Gilan's. Seeing Mac bring her beloved staff and other weapons, makes her smile at her large friend with gratitude.
Tishe' quickly cocks and loads her crossbow, keeping it in the shadow of her cloak and guards the hole. The aggressive Monk makes her think of any craftsman who had his work ruined. And Trellus seems to have things under control.
"Warps a little tight in this town." she murmurs to herself.
Sterlin Friday March 5th, 2004 8:15:02 PM
Sterlin runs toward his old friend Gry to see what all the yelling is about. He hopes that gry hasn't raged and killed everything in sight just yet.
Gilan Friday March 5th, 2004 8:34:08 PM
Gilan slips up to the hole with the rest of the groups stuff, but what Anuk is carrying. He hears the conversation with the monk and stays out of sight. He glances back to Anuk and whispers. "They are being challenged by a monk." He continues to wait till everything is under control and the monk is gone.
DM George "Taunts" d20+1=6 Friday March 5th, 2004 9:55:08 PM
The halfling between climbing and someone pulling up the rope are out of Grymash's range when he arrives. To add insult to injury, an arrow is shot at him from the ship. It misses but thuds into the ground by his feet.
The halfling will look down at the enraged 1/2 orc and yell, "Sorry your are just to slow and dumb to catch the likes of me. Don't worry, I will be back and with friends. Lots of friends." Suddenly a hairy hand will reach over and pull the halfling on to the ship.
Flea and Sterlin arrive just in time to hear the taunts and wince at Grymash's expression on his face.
Jake runs to the burning building and yells for anyone inside. Suddenly he is hit with a bucket of water. Spluttering he looks at a his assailent and sees an apologetic man. "Sorry, didn't see you there at first. Don't worry, everyone got out OK. We are just trying to keep it from spreading. Shame, Justin is one of the best bowyers around. Wonder why his shop was put to the torch? He really didn't have any competition."
The monk looks at Trellus hard. Then he breaks into a smile. "Hmmmm you keep you head about you. That is good. Your tone needs work but it is good to see you didn't lose your cool." With these cryptic remarks, the monk gives a quick nod of his head and leaves.
Grymash (ac16, hp67, enlarge, longstrider, rage) d20+13=31 2d6(6+6)+12=24 Saturday March 6th, 2004 1:04:07 AM
Grymash can feel his rage well up within him. Grymash then moves out and positions himself in front of the boat. He reaches in his side pouch and takes a single vial of liquid. He then drinks it down in a single gulp (movement 50-ft, Enlarge Person Potion).
As Gry grows to a full 13-ft tall, his muscles bulge even larger as his rage takes over (Rage). His buckler becomes ablaze with white light and its symbol of Gargul gazes menacingly at the bandits. With a bloodshot stare and foam spitting from his mouth, Gry yells at the spies with his most blood-curdling and grisly voice, "GRROOWWWLLLLL ... YOUS TOO SMALL TA BE TALKIN' SOOO BIGGGG!!"
Grymash raises his enlarged axe and prepares to strike the craft. When the boat attempts to manuever around Gry and flee the scene, Gry will take his attack of opportunity. (Hit AC 31 for 24 points of damage.)
Gry's booming voice echos across area for everyone to hear. "SMASH BOAT, KILL PIGGIES ... DIE DIE DIE!!!!"
Flea Saturday March 6th, 2004 8:53:55 AM
The rogue stands, mouth agape, watching the half-orc as the plains-ship comes barrelling down on him. Before the moment of impact, the gnome closes her eyes and averts her face.
Mac Saturday March 6th, 2004 1:59:18 PM
With a puzzled expression Mac watches the monk depart. "I donnae get these folk - they're naught like the monks back home."
Jake Saturday March 6th, 2004 2:26:11 PM
Jake quickly joins in the bucket brigade, using his well-toned muscles to disperse as many buckets at the front as he can.
Tishe' Saturday March 6th, 2004 4:38:46 PM
Keeping her body between the Monk and her crossbow, the plain-faced woman listens to his words to Trellus.
"Sounds like you are not as much of the outcasts as Galadar would say."
Sterlin Monday March 8th, 2004 1:35:53 PM
Sterlin comes to Gry's side and begins analyzing the scene.
Trellus Monday March 8th, 2004 2:20:16 PM
The young cleric grins impetuously as the monk moves away and Mac and Tishe' make their comments.
"The beaters like secrets, and they love lessons. So he got to tell me we did good, and still bake me on respecting the monks of Rattledam." Trellus laughs. "They're like that all the time. You see he didn't tell us what to do next. 'Nother test, I guess. Well, let's wait for Gilan and Anuk anyway."
DM George "Rage" d20+3=20 3d8(1+6+4)=11 d20+1=5 d20+1=21 d20+1=2 d20+1=15 d8=3 4d4(3+3+4+4)+1=15 Monday March 8th, 2004 5:03:04 PM
As the ship bears down on them, a spear flies out from the bow striking Grymash in the chest. Grymash can see it came from a huge crossbow on he ship. It is followed by 3 other arrows, only one of which strikes the half-orc.
Grymash strikes the ship as it passes picking up speed. He is only able to hit the keel of the ship even with his great height and reach. The ship is floating on the grasses which are about 20' tall in this area. The axe buries deeply into the ship splintering a board badly.
As the ship passes 4 glowing darts zip down and also hit Grymash.
Balista bolt 11 points of damage Arrow 3 points of damage Magic missile spell 18 points of damage (sorry was supposed to add +4)
Grymash takes 32 total points of damage in the round but doesn't hear anymore taunts.
The ship will sail beyond axe melee range even for Grymash this turn. It seems to be moving quite fast for just starting to move.
Jake is able to help put out the fire but it will take around hour before he can leave if he wants to see it out completely.
The others stay and guard the hole. Nobody seems to bother them, until another very young monk comes up to Trellus. He will bow politely and hand the cleric a scroll. Without saying a word, he will bow again and depart.
Flea Monday March 8th, 2004 6:48:47 PM
As a burst of air from the passage of the ship causes the grasses about her to move, Flea opens her eyes. She is shocked at the damage caused to her friend, and runs to the half-orc's side. As the rogue tends to the horrific wounds and attempts to staunch the flow of blood, she unstoppers her one vial of medicine. "Here, take this," she says, as she holds the small vial up to the barbarian's lips, "it will make you feel better." (Cure Moderate Wounds 2d8+2.)*
Flea starts to shout, and call to her pack for help. When her voice fails her, she clasps her hands to her chest and sends out a 'heart touch'. As hot tears course down her cheeks, she tries to convey a sense of urgency to her pack-mates through the touch, but is unsure if her message is conveyed through the medium.
(OOC:* This is the potion given to Flea from Matt's version of the 6 potions found in the treasure.)
Gilan Monday March 8th, 2004 8:35:35 PM
Gilan pokes his head around the corner after the monk is gone. He just shakes his head at Trellus, his eyes sparkling. "Those monks sure like the secrets." He does not try to hide now as the other monk comes up and hands Trellus a scroll. He does give Trellus that, Now What Look.
Then he hears the cries of Flea, feeling the heart touch first though he turns to Trellus and then nods. He takes off at a fair pace following the touch and sounds as best he can.
Trellus Monday March 8th, 2004 9:43:27 PM
The cleric's grin breaks out even wider as the young monk hands him the scroll. "Totally" he answers Gilan.
Trellus starts to unroll the scroll, when he too feels the heart touch. His grin evaporates.
"C'mon" he tells the newcomers, and tears out after Gilan.
Grymash (ac16, hp35/67, enlarge, longstrider, rage) d20+7=9 d20+3=22 d20+3=11 3d8(8+3+7)+7=25 Monday March 8th, 2004 10:04:49 PM
A loud thud is the sound the giant barbarian makes as he is thrown back to the ground by the balista's missile. Almost staking Grymash to the earth. Yet he feels no pain. He feels nothing but his adrendaline-fueled rage. (Wisdom 9) A darkness from within full of malice, corruption and pure hatred. A deep recess of the soul so dark and potent that even the demons refrain from its cold embrace, lest it consume them whole.
Grymash hears not a word of his friend Flea. Instead of taking the potion, Gry pulls against the bite of the balista's bolt and uproots from the softened soil. "AAAAUUUUUUGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" roars the beast as he lifts himself to his feet. With lathery lips and nashing tooth and tusk, Gry winces only slightly as he yanks the huge bolt from his body. He continues to howl, as if that would spread his madness to the long shafted bolt. (Dex 22) Avoiding Flea, just barely, Gry takes a few steps backward and launches the missile back at the escaping ship or anyone unfortunatly visible on deck. (-4 nonproficency. Hit AC 11 for 25 points of damage. Pretty sure that missed)
The bolt sails wildly toward the ship. Grymash continues roaring but this time it's in frustration. He pounds at the ground with his double axe, kicking and stomping. Mounds of sod become airborne with every hack. Skin covered with a foamy sweat, blood and tears, quickly becomes matted with dirt and grass. He drops to his knees and continues to pound the ground with his fists. His rage still ablaze, it refuses to die. It must be spent, must be slaked of its need for destruction and chaos.
Grymash's voice, hoarse and raspy, bellows across the plains at the escaping bandits. "GRYMASH KILL YOUS ALL! GRYMASH IS WRATH OF GARGUL. GRYMASH IS DEATH'S BLADE! CUT YOUS DEEP, BLEED YOUS DRY!! >>I AM THE DEATH BRINGER,<< AN I WILL KILL YOUS A HUNDRED TIMES BEFORES I LET GARGUL HAVE YOOOUUUUU!! GRRRROOOOOOWWWWWLLLLL!!"
Grymash continues his rant from the ground. He looks visibly shaken, but not fear from the severity of his wounds or the bandits getting away. But from himself and what he has unleashed onto the Wold. What has he become? Only Gargul knows.
Jake Tuesday March 9th, 2004 3:26:30 AM
Jake, not knowing what will happen to his group, but hoping they'll be okay and not get into any trouble without him (It's his job to get them in trouble after all!), spends the hour dutifully making sure the fire is put out at the head of the line.
Tishe' Tuesday March 9th, 2004 5:48:54 AM
Certainly sees what Trellus and Gilan are saying about the mysteries of the Monks, especially with the scroll just handed the cleric.
What she doesn't understand is the terrible urgency suddenly instilled in both of them. Whatever, it is, she sprints after them.
As soon as she gets out of the hole, the roars of a giant assaults her ears. "That almost sounds like Grymash," she pants.
Mac d20+4=21 Tuesday March 9th, 2004 7:02:25 AM
Chasing after Trellus and Tishe', Mac slips through the gaping hole and tries to catch a glimpse or the direction of Grymash, and the ship (Spot Check = 21). Casting an inquisitive glance at the humans, he continues out beyond the wall.
Sterlin d20+5=23 d20=4 Tuesday March 9th, 2004 3:37:21 PM
"Gry, pull yourself together. We may not be out of trouble just yet."
Sterlin scans the area for more surprises. (spot check 23, search check 4)
Anuk Tuesday March 9th, 2004 7:09:04 PM
Anuk arrives with Gilan and begins to distribute the gear he brought with him. When the monk with the scroll does his thing, Anuk asks, "What was that all about? Is Galafar summoning us or something?" He looks at scroll in Trellus' hand, wondering what it could be for.
When Flea's heart touch comes to him, Anuk immediately follows Gilan and Trellus toward the trouble.
DM George "Together at last." Tuesday March 9th, 2004 9:02:59 PM
The majority of the group gather around Grymash as his rage consumes him. It slowly wears down and exhaustion sets in. Grymash seems spent both emotionally and physically. His potion soon wears off and he shrinks down to normal size.
They spy ship gets farther and farther away, and soon can't be seen anymore. A crowd is gathering on the docks looking down at you and at the shrinking ship. One woman says loud enough for the pack to hear, "The Baron's men have found us. We are doomed. Rattledam is doomed."
Gilan Tuesday March 9th, 2004 10:07:12 PM
Gilan looks to the rest of the group as he passes out the equipment that he collected. He looks to Trellus as they get Gry back to his normal self. "What is the scroll about?" He waits to see what Trellus has to tell them.
His concentration is broken as he hears a woman screaming about the Barons. He looks to the others his teeth gritted in a look of hate. "Seems the Barons have brought the fight to us...we may have to return the favor." He reflects on the fact that they may have lead them here to Rattledam. "We did not lead them here...." His voice trails off as he contemplates the idea.
Mac Tuesday March 9th, 2004 10:38:23 PM
Mac looks at everyone in turn, finishing at Gilan. Deep and soft he whispers, "but there will need to be a reason - people nae be happy 'less they can see the reason why... the blame. An' the blame in a tightly woven citylike this will fall first on the outsiders. I'm in for returnin' the favour."
Flea Tuesday March 9th, 2004 11:56:39 PM
Flea offers her vial of medicine to Grymash once again. "Take it," she barks at the wounded half-orc. "We need you healthy, Gry," she adds, her voice softer this time.
Looking at her pack-mates as they congregate near the site of the confrontation, Flea asks, "what were they doing inside the city? Did they attack anyone or steal anything?"
Grymash (ac20, hp57/57, longstrider) 2d8(4+6)+2=12 d8+1=7 Wednesday March 10th, 2004 1:19:52 AM
Grymash still on the ground, filthy with sweat, blood and mud, turns to Flea with sober eyes and accepts the potion (12 points of healing). He then put his hand over the balista's wound and mumbles a few words of power, and it too mostly heals Grymash completely(spontaneous casting Cure Light Wounds for 7 points of healing). Grymash repeats the process on his last few remaining scratches making him wound free (three spontaneously cast Cure Minor Wounds spells for 3 points total).
Grymash stands up and stares out across the horizon. He is calm and remains very quiet. "Gry's axe hit da spy solid ... but it pass right thru da halflin'... no hurt'em, shady magik," Gry turns back to the pack, "da spy wuz a halflin'." Returning to the horizon Gry continues, "Gry also chop hunks out of da boat... dat make'em shut up! Then thay hit Gry wit the big spear chucker. They comin' back ... wit friends. Dat whut the halflin' say."
Grymash bends down and picks up his double axe and finds a piece of the ships hull still stuck on its blade. He sniffs the piece of wood and holds it to a shaft of plains grass to see if it reacts like normal druid oak.
Tishe' Wednesday March 10th, 2004 1:28:29 AM
"The Barons! They are the ones picking the raiding on the Sargrass?" Tishe' doesn't need an answer, the looks of the others confirm it.
A look of doubt washes over her plain features. "Led them here? Outsiders get the blame? That will point to Mac and I before even any of you. That any one person led them here is unlikely; the merchants weave through Rattledam all the time. The barons could have had any number of leads."
Just as quickly, her energy turns elsewhere. "If that was a spy ship, Grymash damaged it. Perhaps it needs to stop for repairs and we can get it before it reports?"
"Grymash," the little woman says very buisinesslike, "if you have a piece of the ship laying around, I may be able to weave a location spell."
Trellus Wednesday March 10th, 2004 9:31:27 AM
Arriving as Gry is healing himself, Trellus waits to see if he needs further help. He doesn't, and the young man answers Flea's question about whats going on inside Rattledam.
"Looks like they burnt a building. Not sure what else."
At the mention of the Barons, the cleric's face sets. But he recovers quickly in the face of his friends' voiced concerns.
"Everyone just warp down for a minute," he says gently. "Nothing's gonna happen in the next five minutes, anyway. The beaters gave me this scroll, so let me read it, and we'll see what's weaving, and then we'll figure out our next thread."
With that, Trellus proceeds to unroll the scroll and read it aloud.
Sterlin Wednesday March 10th, 2004 7:41:14 PM
" Trellus is right. Lets see what the scroll says and then choose our course of action with a bit of intelligence. "
Gilan Wednesday March 10th, 2004 9:42:39 PM
Gilan nods as he turns to the rest. "Of course..we will need information to choose our actions." He glances in the direction that the boat was traveling and shakes his head. "Jake went in the direction of the building that was burning but from the location I would say the bowyers was the target." He shakes his head again not sure what that could mean but it could not be good.
DM George "The Summons" Wednesday March 10th, 2004 10:34:52 PM
Trellus breaks the seal and unrolls the scroll. It's message is short and to the point but still very surprising.
To The Bloodpack,
You are immediately summoned to High Council's Chambers. Come at once. Rattledam's safety is at stake.
Malafret
OOC Hey guys, I apologize if I don't play the politics exactly the same way as in the past. I have an imperfect understanding of them and have taken many DM liberties with the next scene.
Tishe' Thursday March 11th, 2004 1:06:41 AM
Mentally reviewing her location spell, she grimaces and realizes she gave Grymash some wrong information. "Oops," she says intelligently, "Never mind about the wood, I can't use it anyways."
Seeing Grymash's experiment, Tishe' looks on curiously to see if the ship was a Druid Wood ship, or sailed by means of magic.
Being the new one, Tishe' will follow the others leads in how they prepare for Malafret.
OOC Sorry missed that. The wood does act like normal druid wood. George
Trellus Thursday March 11th, 2004 10:33:22 AM
The blond man finishes reciting from the scroll and looks at his friends.
"Well, that's direct enough," he remarks.
"Let's get weaving, dudes. Gilan? Can you and the wasps check out the burning building and see if you can find Jake? We'll meet you at the Temple."
With that, the cleric turns and leads the Pack to the temple.
[OOC - George, I'm not sure of location of High Council Chambers. Trellus would know, but I don't. Could be either the Temple of Pantheon, or in the Caves beneath Rattledam.]
Flea Thursday March 11th, 2004 5:11:08 PM
Flea listens as Trellus reads the short note then says, "I'd like to see Malafret again. She was nice to me."
"We better find Jake, and bring him along, too," she adds.
Jake Thursday March 11th, 2004 6:01:58 PM
Jake continues to bucket brigade... (till someone comes to get him or the hour is up?)
Grymash (longstrider) Thursday March 11th, 2004 6:13:27 PM
Gry mutters, "hmmm," when the grass reacts to the druid oak. Grymash quickly turns to Trellus when the message is read and says, "Oks, but Gry need ta clean off befores we go. Gry feels icky sticky. Thays always sayin' ta Gry ta cleans off! Yous all go find Jake, Gry wash at duh pool an meet pack at Malafret. Knowin' Jake, me gets there first."
With that being said, Gry heads back to the pool, takes off his steelgrass armor, and hastedly starts rubbing himself down with the warm sand from the pools banks. When all the grime is scrubed off, Gry takes a jump into the pool and dunks himself a few times. He quickly stomps out and shakes himself off sending water every direction. After doning his armor, he grabs his double axe and hussles off to Malafret's council chamber.
Sterlin Thursday March 11th, 2004 6:41:16 PM
Sterlin attempts to rid himself of the image of Gry batheing in the past. He smirks a bit remembering it is a bit like watching a rapke roll around in dirt.
" I am going to retrieve my companion and then I will meet you all at the High Council Chambers. "
Anuk Thursday March 11th, 2004 7:35:52 PM
With the news of the Baron's men infiltrating Rattledam, the summons from the council feels irritating. "What's Galafar want with us now?" he mumbles as he stares off into the grasses. He reluctantly turns and joins the rest of the pack in heading to the temple.
(OOC: Sorry about missing a couple of posts there.)
Mac Thursday March 11th, 2004 9:56:29 PM
"Galafar or Malafret? Or both?" Mac says as he strolls alongside the pack. He ponders a few other considerations as they make their way.
Gilan Thursday March 11th, 2004 10:34:24 PM
Gilan simply nods to Trellus and takes off in the direction of Rattledam again. He slips back in through the hole and heads for the burning building, unless it is out.
Finding Jake he will slip up to him and pull him to the side. "Malafret wants to see us at the High Council Chambers." He lets that sink in thinking maybe Jake will take this one a little importantly compared to other times. He will wait long enough for Jake to get ready and then head to meet up with the others.
He will also take the time to hand over Jake's equipment to him, knowing that they maybe needing it all soon. "Was anyone hurt?"
Jake Friday March 12th, 2004 12:36:55 PM
Jake finishes one last barrel and then proceeds to dust off his hands and exits the brigade, glancing apologetically at the others as he does so. As he walks along with Gilan, he puts on his chain shirt and buckles his sword belt. "Doesn't look like it," he responds, "still, ah don't know who woulda caused it."
Ezra Friday March 12th, 2004 1:24:42 PM
As Sterlin turns to walk back with Grymash, from out of nowhere springs a spider from the tall grass. The spider, around the same size as Flea, jumps onto Sterlin's back with amazing speed and agility. It snatches a small insect from Sterlin's hair and quickly leaps off and scurries away a short distance in front of him. Pausing only long enough to allow Sterlin to catch up.
DM George "Timelines and Temples" Friday March 12th, 2004 5:28:28 PM
OOC I apologize for missing a post. Had to run down to my Dad's and help him with a project. When I asked if he had internet access, he told me no problem. He didn't mention that his computer is 7 years old, slower than molassas and keeps kicking you offline! Very frustrating.
I also want to clear up some of the timeline issues which I wasn't real clear with. Figure that you received the Monk's summons around 30 minutes after the Spyship got away. OK on to the post...."
The group successfully reunites in front of the temple after much running around. You all know that you want to go to the large administrative building down the block. It is where the high council meets but you have never been invited before.
You enter through large and richly carved doors doors and find yourself in a large foyer. The ceiling is 12' tall and it looks like this building was designed to impress people. Some beautiful tapestries hang on the walls and the whole room is light and airy. There are 2 monks on guard duty. One will raise his hand and say, "Good citizens, what brings you to the High Council today?"
You hear angry voices arguing from the inside.
Flea d20+9=20 Friday March 12th, 2004 8:02:53 PM
Flea makes a vain attempt to smooth down her hair. Ever since she has been out on the Sargrass Plains, it has been in bad shape...bleached blonde and to the consistancy of straw, by the fierce sun.
Suddenly, she forgets her plight as she is rivetted by the sight of the tapestries that decorate the chamber. "These weavers of Rattledam are truly gifted artisans," she murmurs under her breath. Her thoughts are interrupted by the sound of angry voices behind a door. She ignores the enquiring guards and tries to eavesdrop on the argument. (Listen=20)
Trellus Saturday March 13th, 2004 9:48:11 AM
Replying to the taur, Trellus says, "Malafret is shady. You haven't met her yet, but she looks out for us."
The young man takes in the magnificent hallway in admiration. "Shady," he breathes.
Answering the guards, he replies in a freindly tone, "We have been summoned by Malafret to appear before the Council." He shrugs with a 'who knows the ways of the Council' apologetic grin. "I don't know why. Here's the summons."
Trellus hands the guard the scroll.
Tishe' d20=16 d20+1=11 Saturday March 13th, 2004 4:04:26 PM
The small woman brushes a bit of dust from her clothing, but otherwise doesn't seem interested in fixing her appearance. "As beautiful as my sisters are, I could weave hours in front of a mirror, or forget about it and do other things more important," she explains to Flea.
Tishe' keeps close to Flea and Mac until they are inside the Foyer, then the tapestries call her. "Oh...my...". She studies weave and technique as much as she can (Knowledge Check 16 + 9 for skill = 25) until the others call her. While she knows of the raised voices (11), they are not as important as masterworks of her art."
Gilan Saturday March 13th, 2004 7:48:17 PM
Gilan glances to Jake and shakes his head. "It is good to know that noone was hurt." He glances back to his friend as he is strapping on his equipment and glances around. "Seems it was some of the Barons or thier men that did it...Gry said something about a halfling." He shrugs and then walks with his friend to the council meeting.
As he stands and waits he only glances at the tapestries, not really taken by them. Yes they are fancy and all but that is not his cup of tea. He lets Trellus take care of the speaking as he is the unofficial/official leader of the group.
Mac Saturday March 13th, 2004 9:35:56 PM
Mac looks about the foyer - looking at the ceiling from only 4' away makes the detail no less impressive.
He only looks away from the ceiling to admire the tapestries, and then only away from them when the way is pointed out.
Anuk Sunday March 14th, 2004 11:33:29 PM
Anuk shuffles nervously into the hall. Dealing with the authorities has always put him off, and right now his thoughts are on the ship that escaped. He thinks of the Baron's men and the pack's fight with them as the pack defended the drake. He thinks of the bodies of the manfri and others that littered the boneyard after the battle. If those men now know where Rattledam is located, Anuk would like to find them and deal with them sooner rather than later.
Sterlin Monday March 15th, 2004 11:21:19 AM
Sterlin enters with the others, giving Ezra, his cat sized spider, a rub on his back now and then.
Grymash Monday March 15th, 2004 6:18:23 PM
Grymash enters with his pack. But he seems more concerned with digging the water out of his ears than the tapestries on the wall.
Flea Monday March 15th, 2004 7:40:35 PM
The gnome siddles up to Anuk, and in a whisper enquires, "where's your, ugh, snake?"
DM George "Introductions" Monday March 15th, 2004 10:27:52 PM
As the group looks over their surroundings and admire the tapestries, the voices in the next room grow louder. Both of the voices seem familiar to Flea. One is female and the other is deeper.
The deep voice says, "I tell you it will be a mistake to trust the young hooligans. They haven't earned it yet. They are constantly brawling and sneaking around!"
The female voice will answer in a calmer but still sharp voice. "You can read the signs as well as I can. They are important to Rattledam's future and safety. We have to trust them."
With that a third voice speaks up, "Why don't we invite them in and have a look at them? Malafret, please invite them to join us."
Suddenly the wooden doors open and the friendly and beautiful face of Malafret is seen in the doorway. She strides out, her hands extended and grabs Trellus's hands. In a low voice, she says, "Welcome to the high council. Mind your manners! These people rule this town and have no patience for silliness."
In a louder and more formal voice, "Welcome to the High Council. We you enter and share your wisdom with us for the benefit of all?" Without waiting for an answer, she will turn and lead you into the council chamber.
Tishe will have to pull herself away from the tapestries. They are truly exceptional work
Gilan Monday March 15th, 2004 11:54:56 PM
Gilan smiles as Malafret exits from the chamber to greet them. His smile fades though as he ponders the upcoming events and he steels himself. With a nod to the others he makes his way into the room.
He is greeting by the smiles of some of the poeple present and scowls from some of the others. He is not surprised as they really have caused a lot of trouble in the past. Falling back on memories all but forgotten he cuts a deep bow to those assembled, one that leaves his ponytail sweeping the floor. "Much honor you show to those not worthy." He stands and then steps to the side to let the others do what it is they want.
Jake Tuesday March 16th, 2004 1:29:45 AM
Jake goes along quietly, keeping his thoughts (and manners) to himself.
Tishe' Tuesday March 16th, 2004 2:19:09 AM
So absorbed in the tapestries, Tishe' must be nudged to continue with the rest of the 'pack. Upon seeing the chamber, she realizes that she must use what her mother called 'guild manners' in order to show the best face.
She straightens to her tallest five and a couple inches, and paces unhurredily with her new friends while trying to keep her face in a look of respect and confidence. Pausing at Gilan's bow, she drops a passable curtsey, and stands, awaiting her elders to speak first.
Trellus Tuesday March 16th, 2004 8:11:02 AM
Trellus' initial grin fades at Malafret's admonition, and he nods soberly.
Entering the chamber, the young cleric echoes Gilan's bow and stands, attentive and silent.
Gilan's statement should suffice for courtesy, and Trellus well remembers 'Do not speak unless spoken to'. Galafar has told him that more than enough times in the past.
Mac Tuesday March 16th, 2004 8:14:01 AM
He follows, ensuring noone straggles. Once in the council chambers he bows at the neck - his chin resting upon his chest for a few moments. It was only yesterday that they had all been brought together by circumstance... here. Mac raises his head and eyes, looking straight forward and unflinchinghe awaits further questions or instructions.
Flea d20+7=18 d20-1=12 Tuesday March 16th, 2004 8:59:35 AM
Flea rolls her eyes when she hears the deep complaining voice, then she breaks out in a smile when she hears the calm female voice. As the door starts to creak open, the gnome pulls and pats at her leather armour, straightening it.
The rogue smiles some more as Malafret welcomes the party, and nudges Tishe' lightly, whispering, "Malafret's our nicest teacher. She always stands up for us." Despite the somber reception, Flea can't wipe the smile off her face. She bows deeply from the waist, brushing a loose bit of hair back from her face and tucking it behind her ear.
The rogue scans the room (Spot=18) trying to gauge the mood of those gathered there (Sense Motive=12).
Anuk Tuesday March 16th, 2004 11:54:53 AM
Anuk is still lost in thought when Flea nudges him. "Wha?...Oh, hi Flea. Where's my what? Oh...Twinge. He's right he--. Hm...I guess he's not." He looks about the room and then scratches his head, trying to remember the last time the viper was with him. More to himself than anyone else he mumbles, "Lessee...he was with me this morning. We got to the pool this evening...Black pack...fire...hole...gettin' stuff...here." There is a pause as a slightly confused look crosses his face. He turns to Flea. "You know, I dunno. He seems to come and go sometimes. I think he might have slipped away while when Gilan and I went to get the gear. Probably hungry, I guess. I'm pretty sure he'll be back."
When Malafret opens the door, Anuk is relieved to find it's her and not Galafar who's come to get them. When she looks at him, he clasps a hand over his fist and gives a slight nod to her. Then he enters the room with the others.
DM George "Inquiring eyes want to know" Tuesday March 16th, 2004 8:35:11 PM
The party is ushered into a elegantly decorated room. The room is large and circular. Large tapestries line the walls. On the back wall is a large tapestry that is also a map. It seems to have the entire Sargrass plains depicted on it. The group is to far away to make out any details.
The room is dominated by two large horseshoe shaped tables. The inner table has seven seats at it and all of them are taken, once Malafet takes a seat at the far right. The groups old nemesis, Galafar is also seating at this table.
The other horseshoe table is farther back and sits more people. Several of the seats are empty but others are filled by prominent people from the city. Several merchants for example are sitting at it.
The wandering eyes of the group all dart to the central figure sitting at the center seat in the table with seven seats. They are looking at an elderly man who is staring at them with a question in his eyes. He has a small smile on his face and when he speaks the voice is almost lyrical. "Hello my young friends. My name is Trenic and I speak for the high council. Before I get into your purpose here, I would like you all to introduce yourselves to us. We have heard many good things about you." The man's eyes slip to Malafet and some less complimentary." His eyes then slide to Galafar.
"Your presense was also reported at the hole in the wall and at the docks where one of you made quite an impression. I would appreciate it if you would tell me of your experiences this day."
Grymash Wednesday March 17th, 2004 1:01:54 AM
Grymash steps forward and addresses the council in the only way he knows how. "Uhh ... Hi! Shady place yous all got here. Name be Grymash Mountainback of da Bloodpack. It be Gry dat wuz out at da docks. Gry chase da halflin' folk dat runs from Rattledam. Gry heard him runnin' away in da grass. Me not know who make, uh, impression out theres but Gry make WAR wit thems. Gry make WARS wit them real gutes!" A smile forms across his face and he gives Malafret a quick glance for approval.
"Gry runs real fast an catch up to da halflin'. Me wants ta smack da halflin' and brings him back for questions but Gry's axe miss da lil treadle. Gry not know hows? It wuz uh real sure hit. Like da halflin' wuz not theres. Thens da halflin' gots hauled up by sumeone wit hairy arms," Grymash motions upward and stares up at the ceiling. Turning his gaze back down, Grymash continues, "Then thays say bad words an say thays return wit friends. Dat wuz the last thread, Gry's weave come undone! Gry got MAD! ... an BIG, an me beat an smash up da boat! See here uh piece of its." Gry presents the council with the chunk of the boats hull.
"Thays got quiet an chucked one of those big spear bolts at Gry. Shot sum stars at Gry too. Gry got staked to da ground. Then uhh, hmmmph, Gry no remembers too gute afters dat. Then Gry see them far aways, an da big spear bolt gone. Flea give Gry feel good juice an Gargul heals me too! Then Gry washed up for yous all, an stand here sayin' wut me sayin'."
Grymash looks at Malafret again for approval, quickly turns his head back to his pack to see if he said it all right, and then steps back.
Tishe' Wednesday March 17th, 2004 2:49:12 AM
The plain-faced woman takes a step forward, her short, wavy hair bobbing as she performs another curtsey. She is smiling slightly after Grymash's speech. Plain-spoken and direct, he's said everything that needs to be said, she thinks. Her north Sargrass accent is audible as she speaks slow and clear.
"My Gentles, I am Tishe' Spellweaver, befriended by the Bloodpack. I have lately arrived from HookCity to learn more of the weaving skills my mother imparted to me."
"As to the events today, I confess I did naught but stand by the hole in the wall, ensuring no beater may use it to escape the city."
Another curtsey, and Tishe' steps back to let the next member speak.
Trellus d20+3=22 Wednesday March 17th, 2004 10:15:21 AM
Trellus steps forward.
"Honored Speaker," he begins carefully.
"I am Trellus, lifelong resident of Rattledam. We of the Bloodpack have always considered ourselves outcasts from the normal life of Rattledam. Different somehow. We have ever sought knowledge of what lies beyond our protective dome. Some consider that a sign that we are unfit.
And yet, we love Rattledam, and we love the Plains, and we have sworn to defend them both with our very lives. Our search for knowledge led us to be accepted into the Second Circle, and led us out into the Plains to stand with those that defend her.
We were at the hole in the wall to guard against another intrusion, as no one was there when we arrived. We thought the fire might be a distraction, and sought to protect against that possibility.
As Grymash has said, we also tried to stop the strange merchants as they made their escape. We may have failed, but at least we were there to try."
The cleric can say no more, and steps back, hoping he did well.
[Diplomacy check 22]
Jake Wednesday March 17th, 2004 1:26:03 PM
Jake looks surprised at the mention of a hole. After the others have had a few of their says, he nudges forward, holding his hat in his hand nervously. "Uhhh...sirs, ah ain't never known there was no hole, ah was jes helpin' put out that there fire, at tha fletcher's." Having had his say, he nudges to the back of the group.
Anuk Wednesday March 17th, 2004 3:24:29 PM
When his moment comes, Anuk steps forward. He nervously twiddles his fingers, then quickly moves his arms behind him to hide his gloved hand.
"Um...I'm Anuk Greyhand. Some of you know me and some of you don't. I've, uh...I've been a resident of Rattledam for several years. As Trellus said, many of us here are part of the second circle now. We have seen some of the devastation the enemies of the Plains would wreak on us. When we learned of the hole in the wall we went to investigate as we would not wish anyone to bring trouble to Rattledam. While Grymash followed the tracks we found near the hole, Gilan and I," he motions to his friend, "went to get our gear in case we might need to defend our home as well as the rest of the Plains."
He stops speaking and an awkward silence follows. "Um...that's all I know," he says and steps backward to rejoin the pack.
Flea d20+23=25 d20+2=22 Wednesday March 17th, 2004 3:37:47 PM
When Grymash starts to speak, the rogue cringes and edges closer to the pack, trying to hide (Hide=25) amongst the bigger folk. When she realizes that everyone is going to have to say their piece, she takes her turn. Stepping forward through the group, she makes another stiff bow from the waist, "Furtif Aenora Flibbertigibit, recent transplant to Rattledam and member of the Bloodpack," she announces proudly. (Diplomacy 22, nat. 20!) "I was with Grymash Mountainback, Cleric of Gargul and first axe-weilder of the pack and can vouch for what he says." Flea pauses a moment, "I can only add that the ship was 'curvy' and was not like the regular trading ships of the plains."
Mac d20-1=17 Wednesday March 17th, 2004 7:54:56 PM
Mac clears his throat. "I knoo I'am still a stranger to ye'all, and tha' in itself wou' give yee nae reason t'put ye faith in me, but I'd consider myself a friend of and to the Bloodpack, and by my honour I will nae stand idly by while Rattledam is threatened. If it the role of the wise to look out for those less gifted, then it is the role of the strong to defend those less gifted." He nods a long bow and silently awaits the council's address. [Diplomacy Check = 17]
DM George Wednesday March 17th, 2004 11:01:03 PM
Trenic holds up his hand to stop the speaking and glances at one of the other at his table. That person nods once in ascent. Trenic then smiles and says, "We thank you for your effort's to stop the raiders. We have ascertained that the assailants..."Trenic voice trails of as he looks at Grymash's face.
He starts and stops again and sighs "We have figured out that the bad guys are either scouts and spies for the Barons. They have found our fair city and now we are are in trouble. If they can return to the barons with this information, we will be in the fight for our lives.
We need a group or pact to go after them and either destroy them or bring them back. After casting some auguries, it has been determined that your group, the Bloodpact have the most reasonable chance for success."
At this Galafar face turns stormy and he interjects. "Sir I must object! These are just ruffians and street treadle. To trust the saftey of all of Rattledam in their white hands is insane!"
Trenic holds up his hand and says, "SILENCE! You have had your say and it has been voted on. If they accept, they go."
He turns back to the group and continues, "Will you accept the mission? Will you run down the raiders? He stares intently at all of you.
Gilan Wednesday March 17th, 2004 11:28:47 PM
Gilan glances to the rest and smiles openly. With another sweeping bow he addresses the one called Trenic. "Elder Trenic...not to be obstinate, but we had intended to do just that anyways." As he stands he cannot but help smile still as he takes in the eyes of those present. "We could not in good conscience set back while our home was in danger...I do count Rattledam as my home, more than any other I may have had before this life." He could not help himself but to speak truthfully with the council and it was the truth.
As he steps back he lays his fist over his heart and then his palm over that. With another bow of respect to all those present he hopes that his words will not get them into more trouble. With a troubled look on his face he brings something to the front that he had just thought of. "We will be hard pressed to catch them with the lead they have....could we get advice from our elders and the wisdom of the Council." He bows once again hoping that he is not stepping too far out here, but he had to try.
Mac Thursday March 18th, 2004 2:05:47 AM
Meeting Trenic's stare, Mac staightens up his posture a little further, and replies, "Aye!"
Tishe' Thursday March 18th, 2004 3:12:31 AM
The plain-faced woman listens to the others with one ear while watching the High Council. I wonder what this Second Circle is?, she thinks.
She nods, pleased, at the Council tasking her new friends with the mission of tracking down the spies. As Gilan said, we were going to do it anyways, and with the Council's blessing, maybe her new friends won't feel so much the outcast when they get back.
When Trenic turns and asks the Bloodpack if they will go, Tishe' stands tall (well, sort of) beside Mac. "I too."
Flea Thursday March 18th, 2004 8:58:35 AM
Flea stands with her pack, trying unsuccessfully to suppress a gapped tooth grin. In response to the elder's question, her head bobs eagerly up and down.
'With our new friends, we're as good at weaving the last thread on these white hands. Lets hunt those sunbaked baron's men!' thinks the gnome.
Grymash Thursday March 18th, 2004 10:01:36 AM
Grymash's blank stare gives way to a toothy crooked smile when he realizes the council is sending them after the "assailants". His knuckles pop and crack as he grips his double axe a bit tighter.
However, a question curls up his brow. He leans over to Trellus and whispers in his ear. "Psst ... did Trenic jus call da bandits, 'asssailors' ?"
Trellus Thursday March 18th, 2004 10:38:00 AM
The young man bites back a laugh with Grymash's pronunciation. A good description, though.
"It means 'attackers'", he replies to the half orc.
Feeling a irrational surge of intense satisfation at the reprimand directed at Galafar, Trellus bows again.
"Yes, we will go. My friend Gilan raises a point, Honored Trenic. We will have great difficulty catching their ship on foot."
Anuk Thursday March 18th, 2004 12:05:16 PM
Anuk's broad grin opens across his face when they are asked to chase down the attackers. He steps forward with the others and says, "We are honored. We will fight for Rattldam."
As the proceedings continue, Anuk remembers that Mac and Tishe' have not yet taken the oath to protect the plains. He looks for a moment to discuss this with Malafret, hoping it can be addressed quickly. If a moment arrives he says to Malafret, "May I speak with you mistress? It's about our new friends."
Jake Thursday March 18th, 2004 12:50:41 PM
Jake accepts the mission with merely a bow of respect to his elders. He tries not to scratch his behind, which suddenly itches uncontrollably.
DM George The preparations Thursday March 18th, 2004 6:40:13 PM
Trenic smiles as the group accepts the mission. He will say, "I am heartened to see this reaction. We have made some arrangements to help in your chase. The tradeship Grass Swift has just put into dock. She is being quickly refitted and should be ready to leave in a few hours. The GrassSwift captain is named Pradnor. He is trustworthy and experienced. He isn't a warrior though and neither is his crew. The fighting will be up to you.
Trenic also holds up a compass. This has been enchanted to lead you to the raider's ship. It will always point in its direction.
Now I suggest you go and find the ship and meet Captain Pradnor. If the council can be of any futher help, please contact Malafet. Remember all of Rattledam is counting on you."
Malafet will rise and lead you to the door. "Come, We must move quickly. That ship is getting farther away every moment.
Gilan Thursday March 18th, 2004 10:49:57 PM
Gilan makes a last bow to the council as he follows Malafret and the rest of the pack out of the chambers. He blanches as he hears Anuks words and nods his head in understanding. "Anuk is right Mistress...they have proven themselves to stand with us in hunting down the halfling...they are in our care, so should they not be let into the second circle as well?" He keeps walking with the rest knowing the urgency of the mission, but interested in what she will have to say.
He mentally goes over all the gear that he has and finally shakes his head as he has everything.
[May add a couple of things to my character sheet George, but will send you it in an email. I am also curiuos as to how you want to handle steel grass armors. Can we buy it in Rattledam or is it a Manfri specialty item only to be given by them? Curious as I would like to possibly buy some for my character.]
FOR SOME REASON I THOUGHT YOU COULD BUY IT AT THE CATACOMBS...CHECK INTO IT. IF YOU CAN..COOL IF NOT LET ME KNOW AND I WILL WORK SOMETHING OUT.
Sterlin Friday March 19th, 2004 1:34:31 AM
Sterlin lost in thought as usual, snaps out of it and approaches Gry. " We have come far my friend. I'd truly hoped that the spilt blood was over. I suppose however, that bloodpack is destined to spill much blood in the future. "
Tishe' Friday March 19th, 2004 5:37:26 AM
The plain-faced woman walks with the Bloodpack, her wavy brown hair bobbing as she verbally checks her equipment. "Lets see...staff, dagger, crossbow. OK, camping gear, spell components... yes. Scrolls, potions, and Wart..." At the last a muffled croak comes from somewhere on her person.
She smiles and looks at Trellus (the de facto leader) "All ready."
Trellus Friday March 19th, 2004 9:07:44 AM
The cleric bows in acknowledgement of the task set before them.
Heading out the chamber, he answers Tishe's smile with one of his own. "Not yet," he says mysteriously. "You and Mac need to come do something first."
Hopefully, Malafret leads them all down to the caves. Regardless, Trellus will take the two newcomers (and whoever from the pack wants to come too) down to the caves under Rattledam for the oath.
Flea Friday March 19th, 2004 9:47:25 AM
The rogue follows the pack, lead by Trellus. She falls back a little, in order to walk beside the big taur, skipping every now and then in order to keep up. "Do you know how to swim?" she asks Mac, concerned over how he might get to the tunnels via the fountain.
"There is some magic about the place," she volunteers. "We put our gear in a cubby hole that we block up with a rock that bears a sign of our choosing. Mine is marked with a fancy cursif "F"." Flea pauses for breath, skipping a bit to keep pace, before continuing, "to get to the tunnels, you pretend that you're playing in the fountain, then you swim really far down and there is a kind of passage way. There's some squishy stuff at the end that you have to push through, and then you're through to the tunnels under Rattledam." Flea smiles up at Mac, adding, "there are cubbies just like above ground. Magically, our gear is always there."
Anuk Friday March 19th, 2004 10:03:36 AM
Anuk walks with Gilan and Malafret, nodding in assent when he suggests that Mac and Tishe' ought to be brought into the second circle. "They are willing to fight for Rattledam, even though they are new here. And, I...," he stumbles a bit over the words. "I would like to be able to communicate with them with the 'heart touch'."
He continues along, scanning the area for the presence of Twinge as they walk.
Grymash Friday March 19th, 2004 10:41:39 AM
The barbaric priest of Gargul looks at Sterlin with a smile and says, "No worry 'bout spilt blood ... it all flows ta Gargul. If it be some of Sterlin's blood, then part of yous goes home ta be wit Gargul. See bleedin' not so bad whens ya think of its dat way. Lots of Gry blood on way ta Gargul now froms da war Gry made earlier. Is dat not gute?" Grymash then gives Sterlin what he thinks is a comforting, yet hardy, pat on on the back.
Gry then comments on his feelings involving the tunnels. "Me not think Mac be smalls enough ta gets through underwater tunnel door. We can tries. But Gry not like keepin' everyday stuff down theres. Gry like keepin' axe, an armor, an gear wit Gry. Only like ta keep special secret stuff down theres."
Grymash continues to follow the pack. His only concern at the moment is his new gear he recently purchased.
Jake Friday March 19th, 2004 10:45:10 AM
"Magically, huh? Nah, ah just keep mah stuff stor-ed down there. Y'all scared me a moment there, Flea." Jake tussles her hair, grinning. Unbeknownst to him, Flea is probably right, though...Jake never bothers to take his stuff isnide the city, though. (Hence his current lack of weapons and armor) Jake giggles and whispers loud enough for at least Flea or someone else near to hear, "Oh, Ah bet he wants to do more than just touch her heart..."
Ezra Friday March 19th, 2004 10:50:23 AM
Ezra drops from ceiling as Sterlin passes by underneath. However at the same time Grymash is patting Sterlin on the back and accidentally lands on his arm.
Grymash Friday March 19th, 2004 11:01:48 AM "AUUGGHH!! Wut da?! Shooo, gets off!" Gry shakes his arm to knock the spider loose. "Piggie dumps Sterlin, tell ya creeper ta STOP doin' dat!"
Flea Friday March 19th, 2004 11:11:34 AM "Jake!" gasps Flea, looking mock-horrified, before continuing, "'Nuks not like that!"
She jabs a finger at the skinny fighter's ribs, since she can't reach high enough to punch him in the shoulder.
Tishe' Friday March 19th, 2004 4:10:22 PM
Everything is so interesting! "Second Circle? Tunnels? Oath? Heart Touch? Touching more than your heart?" Tishe's wavy brown hair bounces around as she twirls her head from person to person. "There is so much more of Rattledam and the Bloodpack I think I and Mac need to know about."
DM George "Deliveries" Friday March 19th, 2004 5:41:41 PM
The group is heading towards the fountain with Malafet when they notice a disturbance up ahead. In fact they see people running in all directions screaming. Feeling responsible for the town, the whole group surges forward to see what is going on. They all come to a skid very quickly and come to a complete stop. They then look up and then look even higher.
In front of them is a stone giant. How he got into town no one knows. He notices the group come running up and his face lights up. Suddenly he is striding towards the group. He reaches down and snatches up Grymash and lifts him to his face, where he studies him intently for a minute. "You Grymash?" he thunders spittle hitting Grymash in the face. Grymash can only nod. "I was sent to find you. You order so much stuff that they sent me to deliver it." He will put Grymash down and drop a large sack next to him.
"Where is your friend Flea? Why would you want a friendly flea? Is Flea here?" The stonegiant reaches down and grabs Grymash again and relifts him. "You sign for friends stuff?" again spraying Grymash. He will put down the half-orc again and drop another sack next to him. He will thrust out a bill of sale and have Grymash make his mark.
He will hold out his hand and look at Grymash with expectation in his eyes. Grymash is to flabergasted to respond. The giant then mumbles, "Orcs always stiff me." He then activates a ring and disappears from the area.
OOC. I need to do a little research to get my facts straight. Gonna hold off posting for tonight and will post over the weekend. Sorry for the inconvience. George
Mac Friday March 19th, 2004 6:07:10 PM
The taur attentively listens to Flea's question and comments. Before answering he offers her his hand. If she grasps it, then a moment or two later she is up on Mac's left shoulder (away from the axe) and balancing with the assistance of the near end of his left horn. Then, or otherwise, he speaks. "Aye Flea, I quite enjoy a swim, so long as I can get these through." Mac points at his horns (or taps the one in front of her if she look the lift).
Mac nods in agreement with Tishe' - there certainly appears to be much more to this city and this pack than meets the eye. "Lead on!"
Flea Friday March 19th, 2004 9:19:32 PM
The small rogue is surprised when Mac offers her a hand. "Whoa!" escapes her lips as she is quickly swept up to the large creature's shoulder. Grabbing hold of the taur's left horn, she steadies herself, then smiles from her improved vantage point.
"You're one of us now, friend" says the gnome. "As you know, we're called the Blood Pack. The fellows here, and now you and Tishe'. We have been learning about the grasslands and the ways of Rattledam. Shortly after I joined the pack I was asked to swear an oath to protect the plains." Flea pauses to catch her breath, then continues. "We took the oath, and were given a special gift. We can communicate with each other, and with other's who have taken the oath simply by sending them a thought." Flea lowers her arm from the taur's horn, and wraps it firmly, but gently around his muscled neck, "now we will teach you the oath, too."
The rogue remains on Mac's shoulder with her arm around his neck when the stone delivery person drops off her parcel from The Catacombs. She does not wish to subject herself to the same treatment that was delt the half-orc.
Tishe' d20=1 d20+3=15 Saturday March 20th, 2004 2:22:43 AM
Tishe has no idea a giant is in Rattledam (1) (oy vey! she doesn't notice SHE is in Rattledam with everything going on!)
"An oath? To protect these people from danger? Huh!" she says wonderingly. "I would do that anyways. But if it helps to do it better and have more legitimacy, I'm all too eager!" And her eyes dance with exitement.
And then the great giant speaks, freezing her tracks and thoughts. She reviews her spells to deal with the giant, but sees that nothing seems destroyed (15) and he's got Grymash in his hands. Thankfully everything is resolved, and Tishe' is able to think of other things.
Grymash Saturday March 20th, 2004 3:12:01 PM
With stone giant spittle still globbed onto his face, Gry just stands there motionless. He is completely dumbfounded, mentally shutdown. The anger within is just too much for him to handle. Like a chaotic horde of thousands of people rushing toward a single solitary door. All clawing and pushing against each other, trying to be the first to exit the room. There is no outlet for his rage. Gry still feels spent from his previous episode earlier today at the docks. So there he stands, frozen in place, with a grimacing facade that preludes an approaching malstrom of feral, blood-frenzed rage.
Grymash can only recall the last time he was man-handled in such a fashion. It would be the day of his birth, when yanked from his mother's womb. An event that earned the midwife a resounding slap across the face from a infant Grymash.
But no! this stony 'midwife' was gone. Disappeared into nothing! And Gry can only stand in place, unable to move. Suddenly Gry begins to shake. Slowly at first, but rapidly gathering up steam and becoming more violent and erattic. Muscles tense, veins pop and just as it looks like his head would about explode ....
"AAAAAUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH PA PA PA PIGGGGIIIEEEEEEEEDUUUMMMPPPPPPSSSSSS!!!!! What follows next is the foulist display of language ever spoken. Curses in both orc and common steam out and asaults everyones ears. Foul language so dire, so inherently full of spite (and spit), malice and bitterness that upon completing their utterance, Grymash falls to his knees in exhaustion.
Grymash appears winded on the ground. He shakes his head, wipes the spit from his face and says, "Gry feel better now. But me gonna have a talk wit those Catcomb piggies when pack gets back from chasin' barons."
Grymash - continued Saturday March 20th, 2004 3:37:04 PM
After Grymash gets up from the ground, he appears very refreshed and in better mood. Everyone could learn a lesson from Gry in how not to hold your bad emotions in. A good cleansing outburst of rage and foul language unburdens the soul and feels quite gratifying.
Grymash now turns to the sack left for him by the grabby stone giant. "Gry gots lot of shady stuff for da pack. Lookie see whut Gry got!" Gry pulls out a fancy backpack and nothing more. "Aint it gutes ... uh wait, lets Gry show." Gry opens the backpack and pulls out a cask full of water. Very strange, the cask looks like a tight fit for this backpack. Then Grymash pulls out two more casks of the same size! How can this be! Gry pulls out a 10-ft pole!!! He pulls out folded up tents, stakes and all their rigging. Pots, pans and bowls with utencils, along with other survival equipment. Out comes rope, shovel, crowbar, tender box, masterwork healers kit; the items just keep coming out of this little backpack!
"Oh, an theirs be somethin' Gry bought for each of packmates. We da Bloodpack, right! We should looks like da Bloodpack." Out comes blood-red silk sashes to wear around the waist. A small one for Flea and a large one for Mac. "Now everyones will know who be comin', we da Bloodpack, most shady pack of beaters evers ta walk da plains." Gry gives out a sash to each member and then puts on his own. "Whut pack think ... Gry do gute, right?"
Grymash - continued again Saturday March 20th, 2004 3:51:51 PM "Oh me forget, one mores thing!" He pulls out four strange-looking weapons. Each item looks like two pieces of heavy wood connected by a thick leather cord. "Thays called Bolas. Yous twirl these thangs like uh sling but ya throws them at sumeone an it trips and ties them up. Make those raiders fall ta ground, hee hee hee. Who want one, Gry got four."
(Bolas are exotic weapons and you'll get a -4 on your ranged attack roll, but you're delivering a ranged touch attack, so the lesser AC of the foe makes up for that. Great for tripping and tieing up opponents.)
Gilan Saturday March 20th, 2004 11:15:01 PM
Gilan stops dead in his tracks and just stares at the stone giant. As it lifts up Gry with ease he cannot but hope they do not run into something like this any time soon. He quickly glances left and right, maybe for a place to run.
Witht he things disappearance he shakes his head and wonders if what he just saw was real. "Did I just see what I think I saw??" He is so totally lost in wonder and amazement that when they do reach the pool, he actually trips and falls in to come up sputtering.
[Double check and it does state in the back posts in the Catacombs or maybe it was the Staff area that steel grass armor was Rattledam specific. I will also be stating spells with my next post as well.]
DM George Sunday March 21st, 2004 2:20:55 PM
Malafet looks at the newcomers and says, "I am sorry. I would like to bring you into the 2nd circle right now but there just isn't time. I must get council approval for that action anyway."
She looks around the whole group and says, "The Bloodpack is at a crossroads. You are at a point where you will have to start playing more by the rules. The barons are getting more aggressive and the council is reacting. You could be very useful in the future to both the council and Rattledam. I must get you in the black with them. If they think you are shady, then you can be brought in on even more secrets.
No.. go and prove yourself to the council. I trust you all and know you will succeed but if you want to really help Rattledam, you must become weavers in their eyes."
Malafet stops and smiles, she proceeds to give everyone a kiss on the cheek and says, "Now go find your ship and Captain Pradnor. Take the compass. Luck. I am counting on you all."
Malafet will then depart heading back to the council chambers.
Flea Sunday March 21st, 2004 7:52:21 PM
The rogue slides down from Mac's shoulder and retrieves the parcel delivered by the stone giant, giving a wide berth to the raging half- orc. She peers inside the sack, then smiles, and slings the bag over her shoulder.
Moving back to Mac's side, she looks up at the big taur and whispers, "don't worry about that second circle stuff. You're still one of us."
Flea looks around for Sterlin, then her eyes light on Gilan. "Who's going to carry the compass this time? Seems the monks favour your type for this responsibility," she says with a nod in the steady druid's direction.
Sterlin Sunday March 21st, 2004 9:21:06 PM
Sterlin looks to Gilan, " I personally would be honored to follow where the compass points in your hands. "
Grymash Sunday March 21st, 2004 11:45:38 PM
Grymash looks on with disappointment. He would have thought that the things he bought for the pack would make everyone happy, but it fails to get a single response. "Dont nobodys like da stuff Gry buy?! Pack not like da pretty blood colored sashes?! No ... nobodys thinks it ... it shady?" Grymash's proud composure becomes somewhat deflated and he turns around and silently begins to put everything back into the haversack.
After Grymash buckles up the largest pouch, he flings the magical backpack over his shoulder. Amazingly it magically adjusts to fit Gry's size. Gry turns around and address the pack. In a sharper and serious tone Grymash barks, "COME ON! Weez got sun-baked treadles ta kill!"
Tishe' Monday March 22nd, 2004 1:09:17 AM
"Grymash," calls the small woman in a slightly pained voice, "you never gave any of us a chance to thank you!" She takes the sting of her words out with a smile.
"I was very uncomfortable with being allowed into mysteries when I haven't done a pick to deserve it. I'm glad Malafret said 'no'." She lays a hand on the half-orc's arm. "Your gift on the other hand, I can accept gladly. The sash will make me feel more part of the pack. And the red goes well with my woven belt, too!"
When Grymash provides her a sash once more, the plain-faced wizard takes actions to words and entiwines the red sash through her rainbow colored belt.
"For who to lead, that is for you to decide, for I know nothing of who can best succeed on the Sargrass. Gilan and Trellus both seem like shady treadles for the job." She smiles, obviously pleased with being able to use the Rattledam slang.
Jake Monday March 22nd, 2004 4:39:05 AM
Jake is somewhat flabbergasted by the giant, and just grins dumbly as it leaves, watching Grymash as the half-orc falls to pieces and then gathers himself up. He can't help but laugh, but luckily, he manages to withdraw to the side and hold his hand over his mouth as he does so...
Flea Monday March 22nd, 2004 7:17:33 AM
Accepting the small red sash, Flea wraps it about her waist. She is careful to make sure it doesn't block access to her daggers.
She looks at Trellus and asks, "to the docks then? To find this Captain Pradnor?"
Grymash Monday March 22nd, 2004 9:12:21 AM
A big goofy grin returns back to Grymash's face as soon as Tishe' and Flea accept the sashes.
Trellus Monday March 22nd, 2004 10:21:12 AM
The cleric needs a few moments to recover from the sight of the stone giant.
Then, Malafret lays her news on them, and Grymash shows what he got at the Catacombs.
"Totally shady idea, Gry!" Trellus responds happily, as the half orc shows off the sashes. He gives his friend a solid thump in the shoulder and quickly puts on a sash around his waist.
Nodding to Flea, he says "Right. OK dudes, grab your stuff and let's weave! Gilan, looks like you're elected for the compass."
Trellus pauses long enough to give Malafret a bow of respect, then his grin is back in place, and he strides purposefully to the docks.
Gilan Monday March 22nd, 2004 2:59:53 PM
Gilan is finally able to shake off the surprise and all from the giant. He turns to Gry and pops him on the back. "Patience my big friend...patience." He takes the sash and ties it around his waist, letting about a foot of sash hang down his side. "A very good idea there Gry...will help us spot each other in troubling times." He cannot help but smile at his old friend as he pulls on the sash several times to make sure it is tight but not too tight.
Things get serious as they start to discuss the compass that they are to be given. With a shrug and a twing of pride at his friends reactions he steps forward to take the orb from Malafret. "I will guide them as best I can." He gives her a bow, once again laying his fist over his heart and then the other hand palm over his fist. "The land, my life."
When the others are ready to go he slips in with them, but soon pulls up on Trellus. "Ever been on one of those boats before?" He remembers his last experience and suddenly feels a little queasy. "Hope it is better than my last one."
Mac Monday March 22nd, 2004 5:14:43 PM
The taur 'gets' what the sashes are for. "A uniform Grymash... I am honoured... very shaedee. Thank yee." He ties the sash about his waist, the ends hanging loose over his belt pouch, and heads off with the pack towards the docks. "The bolas are int'restin' Gry, an' I hope they can be put to good use by the others, but they are a wee bit too small and light for me. That said, you've had a prof'table visit there."
OOC: He had to wait. there is a phrase that he had to make sure wasn't deliberately implied, and he's happy that isn't the case. "Like a red rag to a bull."
DM George "Ahoy ye Mate'es Monday March 22nd, 2004 5:44:39 PM
The Bloodpack travels to the docks without any more mishaps or adventures. The are passed through customs without any problems. They are expected.
When they travel down the pier, they see a barge like ship with 2 tall masts. It is floating none to gracefully at the pier. The name GrassSwift is written on the back. Their is much activity going around the ship, as sailors load and unload crates, boxes and casks.
As the Bloodpact walk towards the ship, a woman notices them and starts to walk towards them. She holds up her hand to stop the group. She is dressed in typical sailor's clothes and is of average height and looks.
"By the look of you, I would say your the Bloodpack. We were told to expect you. My name is Trina and I am the 1st mate of the Grass Swift. We won't be ready to ship out for at least 2 hours. The Captain asked me to greet you and get your stuff stowed. He requests you have dinner with him tonight but wants me to keep you out of the way for now. You will just slow the loading if you go onboard now."
Mac Monday March 22nd, 2004 8:34:32 PM
Mac with a confused expression, looks to the rest of the pack. "Two hours? How much of a head-start will the other ship gain in two hours?" He pauses for a moment. "If the captain is helping us, then can we be a help to the captain?" He raises an eyebrow in search of concensus.
Grymash Monday March 22nd, 2004 10:29:57 PM
Agreeing with Mac, Grymash pipes in, "Yeah ... two hours! Thems bandit treadles maybe eleventeen miles from heres by now! Maybe even twelveteen!"
Grymash clearly looks anxious and perturbed, but not anymore than usual. He at least tries to remain positive. Gry asks, "Well, Gry smash up da underbelly of dat baron barge. Will dat slow it downs any? Wills it drag grass?"
Anuk Monday March 22nd, 2004 10:50:57 PM
Anuk's thoughts of initiating Mac and Tishe' into the Second Circle disappear at the sight of the giant. He knows he should move...fight...draw his bow at least, but he just stands there. When the giant leaves, all Anuk can think is, Well, that's definitely going in my journal.
When Gry shows everyone the bag and the sashes and the bolas Anuk says, "Very, very nice, Gry. You did great!" He tries on his sash -- a nice fit, it seems. "Thanks for the gift. And the bolas are shady, too. Mind if I take a closer look at one?"
As the pack makes it's way to the boat, Anuk spends some time looking over the bolas and practices twirling them a few times. He likes the weight and heft of them. While he's practicing, it suddenly hits him. " 'Touch more than just her heart'?" he says aloud, turning a bit red with embarassment.
Flea d20+23=37 d20+7=16 d20+9=15 Monday March 22nd, 2004 11:01:40 PM
While the rest of the group stand on the dock figuring out what to do, Flea tries to catch the ranger's eye, and cocks her head towards the end of the dock. If she can catch Anuk's attention, she will whisper to him, "I want to snoop around and see if there is anything worth investigating while we wait." Flea will skulk around in the shadows (Hide=37), keeping her eyes open for anything interesting (Spot=16) and eavesdropping on any conversations amongst the loitering plains sailors (Listen=15). If the rogue learns anything interesting, she will return to the pack and report what she learns.
Tishe' d20+8=11 Tuesday March 23rd, 2004 1:26:57 AM
Tishe' is happy that she has a purpose to focus her energy on, and walks purposefully with the Bloodpack to the docks, customs, and the GrassSwift.
It is obvious the flat-bottomed merchant and the delay is causing some concern with her new friends. "I've gone sailing on Hook River and also on the Sargrass." She tries to guage the ship's speed, but is unsure (Sailing Craft Check:11) "On the 'Grass, a flat-bottomed would have less draft than the pirate and the damage Gry did should make it easier to catch, but I'm not sure how much faster. "
The small woman turns to Trina. "The pirate we're after swiftly outdistanced a very angry giant. How mush hope do we have of catching the... um... not shady beaters?"
Her focus changes as she knows how busy docks are. "Come on, Bloodpack, let's stow our gear and get out of her way. FirstMate's usually have a hundred other things to do and arguing will make it go that much slower."
She takes actions to words and holds her backpack for stowage.
Tishe' Tuesday March 23rd, 2004 1:34:18 AM
"In the meantime, perhaps we should plan our attack on the pirates once we get them." She looks around uncetainly, "I mean, how can my spells help everyone?"
"I'm a conjurer, and don't have many augmentation magics, though I've got those scrolls you gave me and some of my own. I've got two each of Invisibility, Blur, Mage Armor and Magic Weapon."
Trellus Tuesday March 23rd, 2004 12:21:41 PM
The cleric frowns at the delay. He's with Mac and Gry, they need to get weaving.
"Anything we can do to speed this up, let us know," he tells Trina.
'Not shady beaters'?!? ouch. Trellus leans over to Tishe' and says softly "'Bright'. The word you're looking for is 'bright'. Or maybe 'sunbaked'."
"What can you conjure?" he asks curiously.
Which reminds him.... "Anuk, what's in that stone of yours right now?"
Jake Tuesday March 23rd, 2004 12:35:38 PM
"Ah'm sure it will, bud," Jake pats the half-orc on the back, then heads over to grab his stuff. "Ah'll be back in a bit! Let's get 'em treadle-licking mudwallowing sunspotted piggiehumping fatheaded rumpfed miscreant grassbiting spitnosed bludgerers." With that, he's off... (And shortly back, I hope?)
