Rythiniag

The Meeting...The Doom. (DM Jim)
Monday April 19th, 2004 11:32:31 PM

Cautious as every those that are up early scan and check for possible trouble, finding none. When the last one is up the group looks back down and wonders at the distance. Looking to the tunnel that opens up before you, you are soon traveling down it. It makes a sharp turn to the right and then you see light ahead. The heat has been steadily increasing as you move as well.

As you enter the lair you come face to face with a venerable old dragon laying on an extremely large pile of coinage, gems and other equipment. Rythiniag swings his great head around to stare upon you with golden flowing orbs. His voice shakes the very wall of the lair as he speaks. "You dare to enter my lair unbidden...mortal creatures in my very lair." He will breathe out a blast of flame that slams into the far wall, but everyone can feel the intense heat. His eyes still seem to flow but with some curiosity as well this time around. "What is it you seek? It cannot be death for there are other ways to achieve that." As if growing a little impatient as you stand staring at him, he lets out a low rumble that shakes the treasure that he lays on. "Be quick or it maybe I have a snack." His eyes dance again with concealed mirth or maybe it is anticipation of a meal.

Vrurt places a hand on Melamin shoulder as she stands before the dragon. She does not look up but you can see her shaking a little scared.

[Just being in his presence will call for a Will Check DC 20, or be scared stiff or run. Anyone meeting the dragons eyes make a Will Check DC 24.]

[Note: The dragon is huge in size. It's head alone is the size of three eighteen wheelers side by side. It is as long as twenty such trucks put end to end.]

Toros  d20=6
Tuesday April 20th, 2004 12:44:07 AM

d20, 6 + 8, 14<20

The dragons lair and the dragon itself is too much for Toros at one time, he is totally scared, looking for a place to hide, at least with his eyes, so fortunatelly he does not meet with the dragon's eyes. However he definitely experience the consequences of the strong fear in his mind and body, hoping something or someone to rescue him from this emotional stage.

Brahmah  d20+2=22
Tuesday April 20th, 2004 12:50:07 AM

(Will save 22, 25 vs fear effect)

Brahmah is sure to keep his hands off his weapons when he first steps in to talk with the dragon.

Brahmah stands, perhaps meeting the dragons gaze, a bit 'puffed up' in front of the group, ready to be the first down the dragons gullet. He's sure the Children are out of sight of the beast at first. He shows little to no fear when presented with the dragons ferosity.

"Great and Honorable dragon, Zethen has sent us for you help, for he has said your wise beyond all else." The minotaur stands there, never having seen a dragon of such size before. "These children..." He points to Domisha and Melamin, "...they are really the ones that need your help, we are their Guardians. We are the Chosen of Domi and I am Brahmah, their leader."

"We seek the City the Floats and Zethen said you might know where it is."

"What do you wish of us in return for your hospitality, kind and noble... can I call you Rythiniag?" The minotaur seems almost reluctant to say the name.

Leets
Tuesday April 20th, 2004 2:27:47 AM

(OOC: Remember everybody within 10ft around Leets gains +4 to fear checks...)

Leets' mouth slightly opens as he considers with awe the mighty golden creature lying on the coins bed. His heart shared between curiosity and admiration, he slowly comes between the two children and puts one hand on their shoulder.

"Have no fear...It is Domi's path that led us here and the Allmighty Father watches us. The courage in the shrine of our hearts may be the first present to offer to this noble being..."

Leets bows and smiles to the dragon, sparkles of amazement in his own eyes.

Gecktar  d20+7=15
Tuesday April 20th, 2004 2:56:43 AM

The mere sight of the dragon paralizes Gecktar. Even with the strength of his faith he cannot control the terror that shakes him. Taking his hammer with two hands he walks backward from where they came to get out the presence of the mighty beast...

(OOC : Will roll 8 + 3 wis + 4 leets)

Kanchana  d20+10=27
Tuesday April 20th, 2004 3:01:53 AM

Kanchana leaves the climb area last. She takes her rope with her. Kanchana comes to the dragon's lair a little after the others. She has no real trouble being in the presence of the venerable dragon; or indeed meeting its gaze if necessary. She is content to let Brahmah talk, and has nothing to add.
Discreetly Kanchana 'studies' the gold dragon. She does not ready any weapons; in fact she keeps her hands well away from her weapons.

Flat-top  d20+4=19
Tuesday April 20th, 2004 6:15:03 AM

Occ: Will roll 15+4 will+4 leets=23

Flat-top enters the cave very carefully and comes to a stand behind Brahmah (but away from his weapon swing, if any). He look at the dragon from the top of his head, down to his huge chest, to his frount very sharp claws, down the lengh of his body, to the end of his tail. This dragon is the most beautiful creature he has ever seen, He is left speachless.
Flat-top elbows Brahmah, telling him "Abba! Ahhh! Err! Ask him??". Flat-top just stand there and stares at him.

Vasch  d20+3=22
Tuesday April 20th, 2004 10:03:41 AM

Vasch moves through the caverns ahead of the others. A sudden wave of terror washes over him.I-I-I...think I-I-I've found the dr-dr-dragon..."I-I-I think we're h-h-here-e-e..." Vasch forces himself not to look up at the great dragon.

Tomi give me strength

He lowers his weapons and places them on the ground in front of him, including his spear.

[Will save DC22]

Toros
Tuesday April 20th, 2004 1:59:12 PM

Toros comes closer to Leets in urgent need of dealing with his fear, his presence helps Toros to bear better the feling of fear, at least he is not scared to death any more, however still experiences the symptoms and consequences of seeing a very scary dragon in its own liar. (+4 to will check, being 10ft near Leets, 18, still < 20)

Rythiniag the Gold. (DM Jim)
Tuesday April 20th, 2004 11:28:46 PM

Rythiniag looks rather pleased at the way the group is cowering before him, though some are made of sterner stuff. He listens with what appears to be partial attention as the need is layed out before him. His eyes narrow as he takes in another breathe and then turning his head he sends another goute of flame slamming into the wall. It melts some of the coinage as well as four pieces of armor near the blast. "You would dare ask something of me...without even a tribute!" His liquid eyes swirl even faster as he swings his head back around. "Zethen has sent you to me without being prepared...that nut." His head comes down level with the floor as he comes within seven feet of Brahmah.

Then Domisha moves forward and holds out the flowers with her statement of them being for Rythiniag. He draws back as if shocked and then the lair shakes with laughter as Rythiniag roars in laughter. "The little one is most cute for a human pup." About that time Melamin runs forward with some of her own blue flowers, holding them out to the dragon. "For you Mister Dragon."

With a gentleness that belies his great size the dragon reaches out and gently scoops up both little girls. He brings them close to his face as he looks at both of them. They are dwarfed by his great clawed hand, almost as if they are ants. They laugh though as the dragon's breathe tickles thier skin and whips thier hair.

Looking back to The Chosen he gives them a great smile that is unreadable. Before he turns back to the little ones. "You picked these off of my mountain did you not little ones." It is a statement more than a question. The girls nod thier heads beaming with pride at thier accomplishment.

Brahmah
Wednesday April 21st, 2004 4:27:43 AM

"Kind Dragon, please don't think less of Zethen. He told us that we needed to bring tribute, but we were all at a loss. It seems that the little ones had their own ideas for a gift. However, if you are still in need of tribute, I'm sure we can come to some sort of arrangement." The Captain barters the way he has learned to, but has no clue how the Great Wyrm will take it.

Brahmah looks at the girls in the dragons claw, then realizes if the wrong thing is done or said, this whole situation could get ugly in a hurry.

He notices that most of the Chosen, with the exception of Kanchana, are taken aback by the dragons presence. Odd that she, of all taurs, would see no reason to fear this great being.

The Captain just grins at Flat-tops stammering. "Calm down friend. He seems kind enough."

Flat-top(Protection from Evil)
Wednesday April 21st, 2004 7:21:42 AM

Flat-top snaps to attention, "CALM DOWN! Captain! He has the Children in his Claws! Leets!Give me one of your spears." Flat-top advances a few steps touches his shoulder, mumbling "Protect".

Brahmah
Wednesday April 21st, 2004 8:04:31 AM

Brahmah gets quite frusterated at Flat-top.

"Friend! Don't do anything we'll all regret... Have Courage." He states this holy statement quite vocally as if to say to Flat-top, 'Domi is watching you.'

Kenisha and Domisha(ceil)  d20+5=21 d20+3=18
Wednesday April 21st, 2004 8:13:36 AM

OOC: Diplomacy 21 - Sence Motive 18.

Because she was in a state of fear, Kenisha didnot see Domisha go up to the dragon, untill it was too late. She jumps to action, runs pass Brahmah and the others, stop at the edge of the flooring. Speaking in Draconic she uses all the Diplomacy she can muster, "Sir! I beg of you do not harm my child, Domisha's farther died in battle even before she was born. She did not mean to pick your flowers, she only know that flowers mean friendship to her. I'll do or give you anything you want, just do not harm my child, please!"
Taking no chances, she will also do a Sence motive spell on the golden dragon.

Domisha who is in the palm of the dragon's hand, the girls laugh as the dragon lightly breathes on them "WEEeee!" they call out "It tickles! Do it again" and added"Please". When the dragon Rythiniag the Gold ask the girls if they pick the flowers from his mountain. Domisha with the blue flowers in hand said "Yes Sir, we did. They were so beautiful that we just know that they were for you?? We had some Golden colored Lillies for you," at this point her face turned sad,"But! you see there was a big storm out on the waters and a few of the sailors fell off the boat? they had a memo... menorail... speaches about how they did not have a family. So Melanim and I gave those sailors those lillies." Then she smiles again "When we saw these blue flowers, we pick them for you... Here for you" as she hold out her hand.

Managram(ceil)
Wednesday April 21st, 2004 8:29:23 AM

Managram tries to peek around the bolder, and sees the children in the palm of that clawed paw. *Blinks* back to Leets side, he will bark at the dragon "Bark! Bark! woof?"

Vasch
Wednesday April 21st, 2004 9:42:29 AM

Vasch stands taking his spear. Arms out-stretched he holds the spear outward and stepping forward.

"Great Rythiniag forgive our rudness. In the haste of our quest we sometimes forget the simplest of courtesies. Great Rythiniag, please accept this gift. This spear is of Wemic craftmanship and enchantment and a fine magical weapon. This is the greatest gift I am able to give."

Vasch continues forward and places the spear on the ground before Rythiniag the Gold.

Leets
Wednesday April 21st, 2004 11:00:42 AM

Leets tries to remain calm and to stop Flat-Top:

"Flat-Top...Keep your blade cold and your heart warm...Have courage, for it is with our hearts and not with our blades that we will succeed..."

Leets scratches Managarm behind his ear, and looks the dragon...

"See Managarm...Four-legged, like us two..."

Then the Centaur paladin clears his voice, and bows before the dragon.

"Great Rythiniag, don't blame the old and wise Zethen, for he talked about you with respect."

He gets a look at Kenisha, who has the children between her arms.

"It is not the sharpness of your claws nor the power of your flame that we wanted to challenge, but the maze of your tortuous spirit."

Leets walks thoughtful along the cave, a hand on his chin. Finally, with a sparkle in his eye, he smiles and says:

"Us Centaurs have a tradition of riddle around the fire when the first stars drive the sun away, and I thought you would be curious to share this with us, for even a great wyrm like you musn't have Taur visitors very often..."

"I was telling the story of Domi and the Dragon for the young ones as we were coming here, and it made me remember of another story, as I was looking them exploring this island, a riddle in fact."

"It's the story of two young Centaurs, foolish enough to explore alone an island. This island looked a lot like this one, but its guardian wasn't a noble dragon..."

"It was a brutal, harsh Minotaur, who was used to eat any Centaur who walked his island."

"When night came, the two young Centaurs only found a cave to sleep, but unfortunately for them, it was where the Minotaur used to sleep, like a savage beast. He caught them as they tried to flee, and tying their legs, he put them aside."

"The cruel Minotaur would set a fire, and brought a great cauldron, full of water. He then considered the two young ones, and wondered: 'I'm tired of eating Centaurs boiled in the Minotaur way...Maybe I'll roast you instead, the wemic way...'."

"As the Minotaur was pulling the cauldron out of the fire, the two young ones were yelling: 'No! Don't eat us! Nor boiled, nor roasted! Please mister Minotaur!'"

"The Minotaur considered them, his mouth already salivating at the sight of his possible diner"

"You Centaurs never know what you want, you know I'll eat you, but you don't want to be boiled, nor roasted. You always lie, saying you want peace, and then still attacking our people. No, you definitively don't know what you want..."

"However, I will give you a chance, you little ones, because you were brave enough to come here, and because you may be a new hope for us all if you stay alive."

"'Here is the challenge: your fate will depend on your next words...If you tell me a truth, I'll eat you boiled...'"

"'But if you lie, I'll roast you...'"

Leets stops walking.

"The little ones, Great Rythiniag, gave the right answer, and came back to Centaur Island, where they told their story. But the question Great Rhytiniag, is to know what answer was their..."

"What do you think?"

Kanchana
Wednesday April 21st, 2004 7:58:45 PM

Kanchana notes the reactions of the other Chosen and wonders why they are seemingly having some trouble just accepting him as part of the Circles. She admits to herself that she is not too pleased with all the flame-splitting, but it must be respected. After all Rythiniag is merely demonstrating his personal power. Typical male posturing; sigh!
Kanchana watches Rythiniag gently scoop up the children. "If Honorable, Wise, Gentle Rythiniag meant to do any harm to the cubs he would not have been so gentle when he took them in his hand. Like any decent Woldian being he knows the value of children." Kanchana explains patiently and calmly to the others.
Kanchana sits down and waits for the result of this unusual meeting. She is confidant that this will go well; after all Mother Wold and Father Tomi have guided her - them all - well so far so there is no need to worry now either.

Toros
Wednesday April 21st, 2004 9:31:07 PM

Toros will walk with Leets following him 1.5 steps behind. He is still terrified but trying to remain in control. This effort takes all his energy without letting him to do any further action or talk, but silently watches the girls and the dragon, preying for no harm.

Rythiniag the Gold. (DM Jim)
Wednesday April 21st, 2004 10:56:11 PM

Rythiniag never takes his eyes off of the children as he holds them before his great head. He smiles as they address him and he breathes on them lightly to ruffle thier hair with great delight.

Never looking away from them he speaks again. "Keep your measly little toys...for that is what they are to me." He uses his tail to push the spear back away from his own treasure. With a snort that once again ruffles the girls hair he smiles. "Your riddle would be interesting if I did not hold a greater one before me." He dismisses the riddle as of little consequence to him as he listens to them.

"You should listen to the Wold Mother's Child...she has great insight." He shakes his head and then turns back to The Chosen. "Zethen was wise to send you to me...you have passed several tests here this day." His eyes still swirl as he seems to hold back concealed mirth. "This riddle is great and I will follow it with great interest till it's conclusion.......as for my help, it cannot be freely given but there is something you can do for me." His lips curl back into a smile as he looks over the group. "A little eviction that I deem beneath me to perform." Watching with great interest as he tells you what you must do he seems to be weighing and judging you. "A red has moved onto my mountain and had some young...I wish you to go and take care of her young, then she will leave here."

Brahmah
Thursday April 22nd, 2004 12:49:23 AM

Brahmah smiles. "Dragon Hunt! I'm in!"

He looks at the Chosen, with a great grin on his face. "This will be a test for the ages. Red Dragons, dispatched by the Chosen of Domi. How many young and how old is the mother?" He askes with some hesitation.

Brahmah thinks, wrinkling his nose, and then again addresses the Gold. "Friend, were is it located? What has it done to you, besides being your kinds greatest of enemies, and disturbing your mountain?"

Brahmah (Additional)
Thursday April 22nd, 2004 12:52:35 AM

"Do you want us to return with their heads? I know this is a gruesome question, but it is a necessary one. How will you know we completed our task fully?" Brahmah seems concerned with the rules of engagement. He is very interested in tactics. "Are we to engage in the lair?"

Flat-top
Thursday April 22nd, 2004 7:15:40 AM

Flat-top look at the party, "Your all right! I must be more observing is the action of a would-be enermy, I must be more patent and most of all have more faith. But my heart is up there in his palm." Flat-top stop to listen to what Rythinag has to say, he feel alittle better. UNTIL he mention his little problem... AND Brahmah aggreed to do it??

"WHAT? Are you crazy?" He yells at Brahmah,"Do you know how big a newly hatch red dragonet is? IT"S a little smaller than me! but a young one must be taller and meaner than a rabid bear! Do You Know What that Mother size IS? A little smaller than HIM (Flat-top points to Rythinag), with a temper to match."
Flat-top calms down, then put a smile on his face,"But it would be fun to find out how good we are in giving her a eviction notice. I'm in!"

Domisha and Melamin(ceil)
Thursday April 22nd, 2004 7:32:59 AM

Dimisha and Melamin are having a wonderful time in the palm of the dragon. Melamin is hanging off one of his claw (swinging then droping into his palm again). Domisha is sliding down one of the claws the roll around like a top.
The girls go over to one of claws, hug it "Sir!we wove you!" they say in unison.

Leets
Thursday April 22nd, 2004 7:55:45 AM

Leets' heart goes on beating as the dragon seems to change his mind about the Chosen's presence. He doesn't know how they did it, but they did it...

"A red one...It is universaly known they are evil creature...I'll gladly face those things in Domi's name..."

"Let's go for the eviction!"

Leets smiles at Flat-Top, sure they'll have a great time at the dragon hunt.

Kenisha and Vrurt(ceil)
Thursday April 22nd, 2004 8:23:04 AM

Kenisha breathes a little easyer, until the dragon tell the party about his problem and solution that must be met. Vrurt runs to Kenisha, touching her arm, Tell her "We have a problem?" Kenisha knods a yes answer to her, she will turn to Brahmah(but stays near the Rythinag for him also to hear). "Captain Brahmah! We have a problem, you see Domisha and Melamin are not yet weined, in two or three months maybe. They'll be ready to leave us. But right now they need our milk. Is there a solution to this problem?"

Managram(ceil)
Thursday April 22nd, 2004 8:29:09 AM

Managram looks at the Golden Dragon, then back at Leets, he thinks to himself, ' That's a big dog! but he does look alittle like me?'

Kanchana  d20+2=17
Thursday April 22nd, 2004 3:28:30 PM

Kanchana shakes her head slowly at the bloodlust that is abounding here. She stands up from after sitting. Kanchana stares coldly at the beastial Gold dragon. "I am not your pawn. Whatever information you may or not have is not worth the price of murder and needless death. Your bloodlust is your own burden." Kanchana turns her back on the dragon and begins to exit the lair the same way she came. Suddenly she turns, and looking only at the dragon, adds: "If you harm those cubs the Powers will have your hide." (She is referring to the young Taurs).
Kanchana climbs back down the incline and looks for the little bat on her way out. The only things on her mind right now is how wrong it is to destroy children (no matter how evil they might become), and the fact that she is woefully under equipped and under skilled to deal with dragons of any sort. Right now Kanchana does not care for dragon-kind.
Kanchana is also very aware of the fact that she has decided to go against the others in this issue. She is not certain how they will take this though - probably not well, but Druids have a duty to preserve life and her path is decided.

(Climb check (for climbing down the incline) 17)

Vasch
Thursday April 22nd, 2004 6:01:37 PM

Vasch stands taken back by the comment from Rythiniag. ...a measly little toy... He turns from the dragon muttering "We've really no choice...I'll be waiting outside." Retrieveing his bow he leaves the cave; leaving the spear lying where Rythiniag left it.

Brahmah
Thursday April 22nd, 2004 8:14:52 PM

"Kanchana, these evil beings have willingly invaded this great wyrms home. We also have a great mission *He points to the children* and if Rathiniag wishes a price for his help, I'm willing to pay it."
He looks at the druid. "Do you think it's palletable to me to slaughter innocent children just to save our children?! Do you think I want to kill any of these great and ancient beasts!? They are a gift to the Wold, be them evil or good."

"If you don't want to follow us, then stay here. I'll understand. Watch the children and get to know Rathiniag, that's all I ask."

Turning back to the dragon. "Where is their lair?"

Kanchana (replies to Brahmah)
Thursday April 22nd, 2004 8:40:59 PM

Kanchana hears most of what Brahmah says as she is leaving. She calls back, "I see no invaders, the land belongs to all. The price is too high - be wary of what you agree to!" As she replies her voice can be heard receding; which of course mean the she hasn't stopped moving away from the lair. Kanchana will not be staying with any dragons at the moment. She doesn't trust it's motives.
She isn't walking away too fast though; just a swifter than normal walk.

Rythiniag the Gold. (DM Jim)
Thursday April 22nd, 2004 11:48:51 PM

Rythiniag listens to the banter of the group as he waits. He is happy to see that they are willing to do what they can and he sees no reason why they cannot do this thing. He snorts as the druidess stomps off somewhat upset at his task. "I can see trouble in the future for that one...he duties are divided." He leaves it at that as he swings his head back to Brahmah.

"She leaves every morning to go hunting in one of the neighboring villages...talking their livestock. The pups are left alone for great lengths of time and if you wait till the morn you can easily make it into the lair and evict the babies." He glances again in the direction that leads out of his lair and shakes his head sadly, she could have asked for details. "A days travel up my mountain will bring you to the cave that leads to the lair and from what I have gathered their are three to four of them."

Glancing back to the children he makes sure that they are safe, especially the way they are playing. He lowers them closer to the ground so if they fall they will not get hurt. "I have another reason for my task...one I had not been able to explain yet. I trade freely with the village...giving them gold for food and using my magic to see that they prosper." His eyes swirling you can see a sadness there that cannot be hidden. "A fight between us would devestate much...I thought this the better plan." Glancing down at the spear that was left he points to it with his tail. "Give that to your friend...with the treasure I have it would be wasted here...it would better serve him in the duty to come." He lays his head back on a pile of gold and then sits the girls down. They are soon stacking his gold in pile and doing their best to count them.

Vrurt comes forward as does Kenisha to stand before Brahmah, as one they speak. "I must stay here with my girl to see to her needs." They each kiss him on the cheek and smile sadly. Kenisha hugs him and speak softly into his ear. "My wishes and blessings go with you and let Kanchana know the dragons true reason for his request...I am not sure if it will mean anything." She then steps back to lounge on a large padded futon.

[Rythiniag gives you the name of the small village and its location. Though he lets you know that it will take three days to travel there.]

Brahmah
Friday April 23rd, 2004 1:46:17 AM

"That's truly a noble reason Rathiniag. Trade and contracts are binding, but reds, I'm sure, don't see it that way." He shakes his head. "Kanchana didn't mean anything by her actions, she's just one with nature and doesn't want anything to happen that might harm the balance. I see that. In fact, if she get anything in her head, she sticks to it, more often than not."

"As for travel and paths, can you tell us the easiest way their. Looking at the mountain earlier, it didn't seem like a promising trail from the mouth of your lair. Is there an easier way?"
He waits for the dragons reply, then pats the dragon on the foot. "Your unbelievable Rathiniag, I trust you, never having met you before. I knew we could come to an understanding. Did you want us to return to you after the deed is done?"

He gives Kenisha a great hug. "Be well. Take care of my little niece." He moves over to Domisha. "Mind your mother and look after this kind dragon." He gives her a peck on the forehead. "Be good." He taps her nose and turns to the Chosen.
"Chosen, lets move. We need to catch up to the druid before something happens."

Then something comes to Brahmah like a slap in the face. "What of the Floating City, will you take them there Rathiniag? Is that where we are to meet them later, if at all?"

Flat-top
Friday April 23rd, 2004 8:36:57 AM

Flat-top stands there in frount of the golden one, as the Dragon put his hand down and actuly let's the children play with his mountain of gold coins. Whith his head bowed Flat-top ask of Rythiniag, "Please forgive me for my reaction just then, You see these little one are like my own colts. So I reacted like the silly farther that I though I was."

Then to Domisha and Malamin, Flat-top kisses their cheeks telling them, Now listen to me now, Your have a great Friend here (pointing to the huge Dragon) be good, don't make him mad AND don't brake anything! you hear."

To Kenisha and Vrurt, who he hugs (one under each arm) and kisses them both on the cheek, "Take good care of the little ones and each other. Don't cry! We'll meet you both back here or at the Floating City soon".

Flat-top turns, sadly walk away to join the rest of the party. To Brahmah and the others, "We better catch Kanchana before she gets into trouble." Flat-top put a smile on his face, mumbling "Cute isn't She"

Kenisha (ceil)
Friday April 23rd, 2004 8:46:37 AM

Kenisha will take Domisha in her arm and nurse her. She does not want Domishe see the tears in her eyes, after all this is the first time that she will be seperated from the group. She prayes to Domi "Please take care of Your Children as they go to do your bidding". Vrurt silently agrees, "Amen" she whispers, "But how will they get down that rope??"

Leets
Friday April 23rd, 2004 12:36:03 PM

The Centaur Paladin can't help but feel bad about his own behaviour and Kanchana's reaction...

On the way to the exit, he thinks aloud.

"I don't think we're making a bad choice by helping Rythiniag. Red ones are perfectly conscious of what they do, and still they're cruel and...and...evil."

Leets then thinsk of what will happen when they'll have to fight Marteaus followers...

Toros
Friday April 23rd, 2004 9:13:39 PM

Toros remains silence, as he listens the Gold Dragon and the reactions from the Chosen.

Then he takes the spear that Vasch left to give it back, thinking what he is going to say to him. Following others he leaves the liar, having given one last look to the children, and Dragon.

Kanchana
Saturday April 24th, 2004 8:43:17 AM

Kanchana thinks about this awful dilemma she is in - on the one hand she has her duty to see to the well being of the children and then Chosen, on the other she has her duty to preserve life and hunting babies; or children, just comes across as immoral and wrong to her. Thinking of their mission and responsibility to the children Kanchana turns back for the lair to have words with Rythiniag.
Kanchana has a few ideas on how to go about this hunt. As she passes the others leaving the lair she doesn't say anything, she just looks determined and at the same time unsettled. Whatever reasons the dragon has for his request doesn't matter for Kanchana at the moment. Also she hates to admit to herself that she was rash for leaving, but she was upset and having a lot of trouble dealing with the request.

"Rythiniag, before we do anything of what you asked I have three things that I must ask of you. Maybe demand might be a more apt word?" Kanchana stares straight into the gold dragon's eyes as she speaks and her gaze does not waver.
"First. You gave no indications that you even possess the knowledge of the location that we seek. If you do know where this Floating City is then take Vrurt, Kenisha, Domisha and Melanin there forthwith." Kanchana takes a breather to steady herself; it takes a lot bravery to make demands of a dragon!
"When we either remove or destroy the mother's children, she will hunt us, and then our cubs will be in far more danger than ever before. Therefore they need to be made safe in the city first. *breather* Second. Is there any way to remove the dragon offspring without killing them? What sounds does a dragon mother make when she calls to her young? Maybe we can lure them out and away from the lair before dealing with them? I am certain that they have ambush places in the lair and that they will no doubt fly if they can."
Still bravely standing her ground Kanchana makes her final statement. "Finally, we will need some form of protection from the mother. If you have returned from the city and we have completed your task, then you will need to deal with her. She is most likely beyond our skills."

Now Kanchana waits to hear if the dragon agrees, or decides to have her for lunch.

Flat-top
Saturday April 24th, 2004 9:19:13 AM

Flat-top is about to Decend the rope, when along passes Kanchana them and into Rythiniag's Lair. Flat-top tip-hoof(as quitly as he can with those mithril hoof knuckle of his) over to the opening, peeking in on her. He motions to Brahmah to come over, "Captain! listen to the She-Weinic talk to the dragon". His jaw drops when She makes her demands. Flat-top ask of Brahmah, "Remind me to NEVER argue with that She-Cat!"

Kenisha and Domisha(ceil)
Saturday April 24th, 2004 9:26:15 AM

Kenisha is suprized to see Kanchana come back into the dragon Lair, She is even more suprized when she make her demands, She smiles whispering to Vrurt "I wish her luck, Go Girl!"

Domisha is getting sleepy ask her mother, "Mommie! Are we in trouble?"

Kenisha answers her, "No! Dear! go to sleep now."

Rythiniag the Gold. (DM Jim)
Saturday April 24th, 2004 2:35:54 PM

Rythiniag watches as the strange four-leggers perform some strange custom. He has seen it many times before but never done it himself. He swings his head back to Brahmah and nods in understanding. "There is a path that should lead you up to the lair, if it is not blocked. It is marked by the fairies tear." He shakes his head and then frowns, if a dragon can frown. "I did not take her actions wrong...she has morals. You will need to return here to pick up your friends as I cannot take them to the Float directly...there is a black arch that will lead you there. Even I cannot find the Float itself, just how to get to it." With this final confession he seems to bristle a little. "The Float has another arch there that you will appear at...the rune I will give you is only useable once for there and back." He watches as the group leaves and he sighs in consideration, hoping that they take some care.

Rythiniag turns back as he feels the return of the druidess. He swings his head back around and does not let his eyes leave hers as he listens. "I could take them to the arch good druidess, but then you would have to find it on your own. I will personally take all of you there if that will make you feel better." He does not even seem angry that she is making demands of him, just pleased. Very few people have what it takes to talk this way to a dragon. "You are right about them flying and they most likely will. As for the sound their mother would make to call them, that is something specific for every dragon. It could never be duplicated." With his tail he pushes a little stick out to the druidess. "This will help with some of your worries...fire protection it will give you." His eyes rove over to catch the male, Flat-top, at the entrance and he smiles again. "Please bring it back to me if you can."

With a sly smile the dragon looks to the druidess and then nods again. Taking a large skin he takes a claw and spikes his hand. Several drops of blood fall into the flask, filling it quickly. "After the task is done...splatter this around a little. She will not pay attention to other smells with mine there. I will do my best to deal with her far from the village." You can see something in his eyes and hear it in his voice that he may not survive this encounter. He is getting old and she is a lot younger than him. "I wish an oath from you druidess...one given to one of the ancient races and before Domi." He waits a few minutes to let this sink in before he continues. "If something should happen to me...get my treasure to the village somehow. I would see them prosper from it." It seems like a strange request from a dragon, given their greed for treasure. Seems he may have more of an interest in the town besides as a trade partner.

[Resist Energy, fire Wand - druid 2nd level caster]

Brahmah
Sunday April 25th, 2004 12:35:22 AM

Brahmah listen to the dragon give his ideas, and nods in agreement.
He looks at Kanchana, with an unreadable look, then back at the dragon. "I will make sure the town recieves it... if anything happens. On my honor. I feel that you will prevale." He looks back at Kanchana.

Kanchana
Sunday April 25th, 2004 3:55:10 AM

Kanchana continues to look only at the dragon as she thinks about his request. "You haven't told me if there is any way to remove the wyrmlings without killing them. Is there any way?"
Kanchana takes the wand and the vial of blood from the dragon. She feels some one staring at her and turns her head slightly as Brahmah speaks. She cannot figure out his expression and wonders what he is thinking about. When Brahmah finishes speaking to the dragon she continues.
"If I can return this wand to you I will. Regarding the treasure, I am not certain how we will transport all of this to that village. Would it not be better to show the elders of the village the way here instead?" She looks sad when the dragon says that he might die.
As Kanchana waits for the dragon to answer her question about the wyrmlings. She looks over to Brahmah with a neutral expression and tries to see if she can figure him out.

Flat-top
Sunday April 25th, 2004 8:04:29 AM

Flat-top enters with Brahmah, look at the mountain of treasure, "Oh! Great One! You'll survive after all you are a Gold Dragon." He thinking of months of back bracking hauling. He look up at the Dragon again, "What ever our Captain said, goes for me too."

Vasch
Sunday April 25th, 2004 2:11:52 PM

Vasch waits outside the cave for the others to finish their discussion with the dragon.

"Speak of gifts and then brush away those that are given..." He says looking out over the lands below the mountain. More blood-shed caused on this quest...more yet to be spilled...

Vasch looks down at his opened hands, So much blood... "Tomi we seek to unite all the taurs, but I fear that when that once done the blood on these hands will so great how could I..."

Rythiniag the Gold, amendment. (DM Jim)
Sunday April 25th, 2004 4:22:01 PM

The dragon looks to the lot that came back and nods his head. Turning back to Kanchana he shakes his head. "There is little other way to get them out. They would not willingly leave and tricking them out would be impossible. They are deep in the cave, much like you had to travel to get to my own lair." Shaking his head he once again tries to come up with something. "Aside from putting them to sleep and moving them, which would be nay impossible...after all we are all mightily resistant to magic. Still you are willing to try whatever you think may work, for if there is no killing than there will be no fight...well maybe." You can already tell what he is getting at, after all it is reasonable deduction. She will return to her lair with the kids and continue what she is currently doing.

Brahmah
Sunday April 25th, 2004 6:20:26 PM

As the leader of the Chosen, Brahmah knows life may not be easy if he doesn't take into account the entire group.
He looks to the druidess, who is seemly the most vocal about the situation. He says one word to her, "Coming?" He askes it in a non-judgemental, non-confrontive kind of way, with a look of concern and curiousity on his face.

Kanchana
Sunday April 25th, 2004 7:20:41 PM

Kanchana smiles in a sad sort of way at Brahmah; it is a reflection of the inner turmoil she feels. Hoping he sees her expression for what it really reflects she answers, "Yes, I will come. I have a duty to you all and I will not dishonor that duty. I cannot say that I agree with what we must do though." She fervently hopes that she is not going to cause any more problems for Brahmah and the others. She greatly appreciates Brahmah not judging her, especially since he would be in his full right to do so. Kanchana makes some small moves indicating that she isn't quite sure what to do with herself. "I do this only for the children and for the Chosen, not for anyone or anything else." Kanchana glances quickly and somewhat nervously at Rythiniag as she says this.
"Rythiniag, our time is not our own. I suggest that we show the elders of this village of yours where the gold is and how to defend it rather than moving it to the village directly and risking other tribes attacking them for their great wealth. Greed is a powerful vice after all."
Kanchana puts the vial of blood and the wand into her haversack. "Captain, you must know that I fear that we perhaps may die trying to destroy these little dragons. However these items from Rythiniag will help us greatly I am certain." She starts to inch her way out of the lair as she speaks; basically it is best to get going and get this all over with quickly. To the dragon Kanchana says in parting, "thank you for letting us take these items to assist us. May we all be blessed with good fortune."
Unless anyone has anything more to say to her she will leave the lair to meet up with the others. Kanchana wonders how everyone fared with the incline when she took her rope with her before they travelled to the lair on the way in!

Brahmah
Sunday April 25th, 2004 10:28:13 PM

"Kanchana, you can just support us. I don't expect you to carry out anything you don't feel right with. Leave the dirty business to me."

"We all die Kanchana. The only mystery is, how and when. I choose the way I go. This is a good cause."

Gecktar
Monday April 26th, 2004 7:21:22 AM

Back from the cave, Gecktar hear the Golden one speaking about killing young Red dragons. He is almost paralized thinking their presence will shake him as with the Golden, but he hopes his faith will help him to face the challenge.

Flat-top
Monday April 26th, 2004 7:28:42 AM

Flat-top listens with arms cross on his chest. "Well said Sweets(talking to Kanchana)We Do Need You, your a vital part to us. Come! trot with me as we inch our way to our faith." To Leet, Flat-top ask "Leets! Does your celestrial dog, disaper to another Realm? Or Does He Blink to another place on this wold? Maybe we can do this without spilling too much blood??"

Toros brought the spear back to Vasch, with the hope that he will take it.

"The Dragon wanted you to take it, Vasch." he said.

He will stand near Vasch, while they wait for the others.

Vasch
Monday April 26th, 2004 3:25:51 PM

Toros comes out and reaches out holding the spear. Vasch reaches out and takes it. "Thanks. What are they waiting for? It's not like we have a choice in this."

He looks back over his shoulder into the cave. "Toros, let me ask you something...do you ever feel like we're trying to do the immpossible?" He turns and stare back out over the landscape. "It's just that when I died Tomi said that I was too eager to spill blood. But when I look forward to what we have yet to do I feel as though I am going to drown in what is yet to be spilled."

Toros
Monday April 26th, 2004 7:34:45 PM

"It is same for me Vasch, in fact I do not have any clear idea about what is waiting us there, the blood spilled can be ours as well as innocents. But, I am going to follow to whereever we all go and do my best to do the right thing at the right time."

The Climb. (DM Jim)
Monday April 26th, 2004 10:46:08 PM

The group gathers back outside of the cave and look further up the mountainside. There is no apparent good course to take up the mountain. Brahmah remembers the words of the dragon though, "the crying fairy marks the path". That does seem a little cryptic but still maybe they should have a look around (spot check 16 or search check 16).

The Centaur paladin reamins thoughtful as Kanchana deals with the dragon. However, he can't help but smile at the Druidess' way of solving this situation...Definitively, Domi hasn't gathered all those Taurs for nothing, and all will have their part to play before all is over...
Finally, he answers Flat-Top as the group leaves:

"Oh...? I wonder if Managarm could bring such a big thing with him...How big did you say they were? Otherwise, I could try to tie them too...I used to do it with sheeps and sometimes cows when I was a herdsman...Maybe I could try to do the same..."

It was Managram that saved you by Blinking to you then blinking you both back to us. Since very young dragonetts are the size of Centaurs, we could get the one at a time and Managram could take them to either the celestral plain or some where far away from here and leave them there. Do you think he could do that?

All the time Flat-top is searching for something diffrent on the path or ground that might be Fairy Marks.

Kanchana looks around for whatever it is that most everyone seems to be looking for. She has no clue what it is so she just goes through the motions of searching! "What are you looking for? More traps? Tracks?"
Kanchana looks back to the cave they just left and fervently hopes that they will see the children and their mothers again. Her thoughts keep straying to thoughts about how hunting these dragons seems so alike to the Marteans hunt for the children, and what might happen to the children if the Chosen fail to return. She wishes that there were some plants to distract her from these dark thoughts.

Tuesday April 27th, 2004 9:28:54 PM

Managarm is the first to find the rock that is shaped like a fairy with markings on the face that look like tears. The rest of the group comes up to actually find him urinating on the piece of stone.

A search around the stone finds a path that actually leads on up the mountain and it is much nicer than the other climb would have been (climb check 12). Still the climb is a little hard on you and you are glad that the children are safe in Rythiniag's lair. You have started to notice a few more of those evergreen trees from earlier. It appears that they prosper pretty good up here, where it is getting colder.

Kanchana is happy to see the unusual evergreens again. She practically sprints up the mountain to the evergreens. For the sake of keeping herself preoccupied she picks up a few more pine cones and studies them to see if they are indeed the same species as earlier. On a whim she attempts to juggle three or four pine cones and does a miserable job.
Kanchana hasn't really registered the path as such yet or the fairy tear stones. She watches the others make their way up the mountain as she puts the few pine cones into her haversack.

He remembers what the gold told him, trying to stay on the path, or at least near.

The ranger, happy in his present surroundings, is nearly oblivious to anything unusual going on around him. Listening to the pleasant peace of the mountain is refreshing. He's happy to outside again, out of that confining cave.

He calls for Pah'caw. "Look ahead for us, would you? Watch for danger." He gives the bird a piece of meat from his pack.

Leets
Wednesday April 28th, 2004 6:10:38 AM

Leets cautiously follows the track, behind Brahmah since he is no expert at this kind of things. He will mostly be vigilant about any kind of threat, since they are probably walking near another dragon's lair...

"I would have prefered another sign to show us the way...It's never a good thing to see a fairy crying..."

Leets will cast detect evil regularly on the way, especially searching for...a red dragon.

As Kanchana stops and plays with the pinecones that are exactly like the ones that she had seen earlier, the rest continue on a little farther. Flat-top comes back to get his little kitten and keep her close to him. He also tries to eleviate some of her worries about killing the baby reds.

Brahmah moves on up the path when he stops in his tracks. In the somewhat softer area of the mountain trail he sees booted tracks. Vasch had been looking them over already when he came up but the others were far enough back to give him a little time.

Paw'caw comes flying down to land gently on Brahmah's shoulder and nuzzles his face gently. It seems that she is trying to tell him something.

Pah'caw's antics make Kanchana laugh.
Kanchana smiles just a little. "I appreciate that you are thinking of a way to avoid killing the younglings Flat-top. Sadly I fear that we might have to do just that; kill them, if we wish to see our cubs again."
Kanchana starts to quickly walk towards the others so she isn't lagging too far behind. "How do you plan to displace the wyrmlings?" Kanchana is absolutely interested in hearing Flat-top's plan.
She will walk beside Flat-top on the way up the mountain until he is needed elsewhere. "I want you to know that I will do what I can to help with this "quest" we are undertaking.
