The group only hears one set of feet running away and that is in the other direction, away from you. The others moved a little but then there was no more noise to hear.
Leets charges ahead with Managarm leading him by a little bit of distance. Suddenly from behind a tree flies a javelin that streaks towards Managarm (hit: 13, damage: 6). From another tree comes another jevelin that flies at Managarm (hit: 18, damage: 6). The last javelin streaks at Leets himself (hit: 18, damage: 9). Leets gets a quick glimpse of an orc as he throws the javelin at him.
The others are tailing him up and will also see the orcs throwing javelins at Managarm and Leets. You can only guess that the retreating person is another orc as well.
[Leets consider yourself flat-footed for this first attack. Managarm should also be considered flat-footed as well for this round.]

"Orcs! What do they do here? Another hunting for the Chosen or what!? Hope Managram is OK" Thinks Toros witnessing what has happened all a sudden. Initially he can not determine what to do, should he use the whip, draw another weapon, start one of his songs to encourage his friends or cast one of his readied spells. And they also do not know all about their opponents, maybe there are more to come. (listen 16 and spot 15)
Then he casts shield of faith on himself and draws the magical battleaxe. This is an unidentified arm but maybe it is time to use it.
He starts following his friends to fight against the orcs.

Leets Sunday May 2nd, 2004 2:44:55 PM
The Centaur paladin gets completely surprised by the sudden assault.
"Managarm! Oh! Where are you... Ouch!!!"
As himself receives a javelin that bites deep in his shoulder, he yells:
"Stop it! Stop it right now! NOW!!!We are Domi's Chosen and we search no troubles with you!"
However, he'll draw his morningstar.

The orcs take in the reactions of the group with better training than is expected of their kind. One of the orcs yells something in orcish at Leets and then throws another javelin at him (hit: 28, damage: 10).
The other two orcs lob their own javelins at Flat-top as he draws near and applies healing to Leets (hit: 13/17, damage: 8/6).
You hear the last orc, but cannot see him, slow for only a few minutes and then his running continues on.
As the others prepare for battle, Vasch pulls back on his bow and lets an arrow fly. It glances off the tree that the orc is partially behind. The orc that had yelled at Leets earlier finds himself smacked hard by the spiritual weapon that was summoned.

Brahmah reaches the closest orc and draws his sword, while going on the defensive. Suddenly Kanchana appears behind him and slashes him in the side.
Gecktar applies more healing to Leets and stares on at the fight. His hammer has little luck this time hitting the orc as it whistles harmlessly by his head.
Toros easily pulls the closest orc off his feat and much to his dismay or pleasure Flat-top steps in at that time and literally mashes the thing into mush.
Leets reaches the lead orc just as his friend, Managarm, pops up behind him and bites it on the tender parts.
Vasch finds one of his arrows flying wildly into the mountains, but his other one whistles past Brahmah as he moves to engage the orc. It strikes dead on, taking the orc in the shoulder.
Paw'caw is just barely able to strike the retreating orc as he is running somewhere. With reckless abandon the orc slips into a more rocky area that Paw'caw cannot fly into.
The orc by Flat-top and Toros is mash into a nice little stain on the ground, never to rise again.
The orc by Brahmah and Kanchana is hurt badly and seems to be maybe having second thought. Still he presses his attack as he draws his falchion. Seeing the one behind him as a block to his retreat he turns on her (hit: 25, damage: 11).
The orc by Leets and Managarm snarls in rage as he pulls his own falchion. He whirls on Managarm thrusting his sword at the dog (hit: 29*crit28*, damage: 13*crit15*).
[It is apparent that the orcs are very well armored: AC 17.]

Standing in position, flanking with Kanchana, Brahmah almost feels guilty cutting into the orc (almost guilty!). He then proceeds to hack into the orc that just beat on Kanchana. (Hitting AC miss[rolled natural 1] and 22 with his falchion, doing 12 damage) After striking the orc with a nasty blow using his own falchion, assuming he still lives, he then speaks. "If you wish to live, tell us why you attack?" He then draws his kukri.

As managram fall and is bleeding to death, Gecktar heals the dog Just in time, bring the dog back from the brink of death. the bleeding stops and gets up to lick his master hand.
OOC: Managram was hurt to start it, his hp was 21, the orc gave the dog two *crit hits of 13+15=28. The dog was dying at -7, BUT just in time Gecktar heals the dog of +26hp. Now Dear DM the dog now has 19hp right?? the dog is not dead Right??

Kanchana reels from the blow and bleeds freely from the sizable wound. She snarls at the orc as she takes a second swing at it with her scimitar. Her blow connects solidly, hopefully the orc is now hurting big time (hit AC 22, dmg 7). She attempts two claw attacks and misses badly; lucky orc!

Flat-top puts pressure with his hand on the wound on his flank. At the same time yell at Brahmah, "Hey! Captain! I think I hit this one a little hard, he's not getting up? If you don't need help, then I going to see if Leets is alright." But to Toros "Nice job Toros, that last hit of yours finish him, I wonder if he's has any infomation on him?".

Aftermath. (DM Jim) Wednesday May 5th, 2004 11:56:07 PM
Gecktar's hammer smashes into the orc nearly dropping him as he staggers. Gecktar meanwhile applies some healing to managarm. Toros moves in on the same orc and finishes him off neatly splitting him in two. The axe seemed to cut better than any other axe he has seen lately.
Brahmah slices into the orcs back as it turns and attacks Kanchana. He demands answers to questions in exchange for it's life. Kanchana follows up with her own attack and the orc drops his falchion, a scimitar neatly sliced into his armor. It gurgles once and then slumps on her blade.
Managarm is healed by the wand of Gecktar, much to the relief of Leets and the rest. Managarm is more of a comrade than a pet.
Vasch notches and arrow and scans the area further up for any signs. He sees nothing coming their way and the noises of the retreating orc have ceased.
Paw'caw circles trying to spot any sign of the orc that retreated but does not notice anything. It seems that the orc was able to slip away into the rockier area of the mountain.
You notice, with the fight over, that each of the three orcs is well armor and seemed to have been well trained. They wear chainmail of a nice make for goblins and their weapons are also too well made for orcs. Each one otherwise is dressed in black and an emblems appears on the clothing, that of a black slab of stone rounded at the top and flat on the bottom.
[Ceil - If the first roll you make will hit your target and falls into the critical range then you roll another d20 with all modifiers. If this roll will also hit your target's AC then it is considered a critical. Ex: Managarm's AC is 20 so a 28 would hit him and the critical for a falchion is 18-20. If you subtract the 10 modifier from that 28 you get an 18, that means that it falls into the critical range. The next roll of d20 also gets the +10 modifier. Since it also is able to hit Managarm's AC of 20 then I get to roll critical damage. Only the critical damage applies not the beginning damage. Hope this helps. This means that Managarm is most definitely not dead and actually has 27 hit points again.]
Leets Thursday May 6th, 2004 2:41:22 AM
OOC: Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Managarm also has a damage reduction, no?
IC:
As blows rain from here and there, Leets doesn't even has the time to act, lifting his morningstar just when the last one falls...
Understanding that the battle is over, his first thought go to Managarm, and he of course share his lay on hands ability so that his celestial friend heals up completely.
Brahmah (75/75, AC 22, no longer defensive) Thursday May 6th, 2004 3:03:40 AM
"Oops." He says, after the druid spikes the orc with her scimitar. "Oh well, he probably would have been more trouble than help." He glances at the emblem. "Leets, what do you make of that?" He slices the emblem off with his kukri and looks it over.
"I think Rathiniag failed to tell us everything."
He then picks up and stows the falchion.(What size is the falchion? Medium I assume?)
Gecktar d20+5=19 Thursday May 6th, 2004 3:39:50 AM
Gecktar is pleased to see that Managram is safe. He looks around him to see if any of his comrade is wounded. He sees that Flat-Top, Kanchana and Leets receives bad cut, so he asks "Flat-top ? Kanchana ? Leets ? Do you want some healing before proceding to the lair of the red one ? I think we have to be fully prepared before the confrontation..."
The failure before the gold dragon is almost gone in the thoughts of Gecktar. He has his place here among the Chosen and he has plenty abilities that can help them during their quest...
Looking at the orcs he says : "They are definately well trained and equiped... See these armors and falchions... and what is this emblem ?" (know religion roll 19)
Kanchana (AC 16, HP 42/44) d8+3=9 Thursday May 6th, 2004 3:49:12 AM
Kanchana looks pretty bad at the moment. Still she steps on the dead orc and yanks her scimitar out of him with a grunt. Kanchana meticulously cleans the blade before sheathing it. Next she draws one of her curing wands and uses it heal herself (heals 9 pts, leaving her with 2 left to heal up). "Is anyone else hurt? Does anyone need any further healing?" Kanachana looks around at the others as she bandages what is left of her own wounds. "Are we going to try and track the creature that fled?" If given a chance to rest for a bit then Kanchana will put on her newly acquired leather armor (AC 19). At the moment she doesn't feel much different from before, even though the Powers saw it fit to heed her prayers.

Flat-top Thursday May 6th, 2004 7:50:59 AM
Before Flat-top leaves to go to Leets. He remarks to Toros, "I really don't like this, well armored Orcs, having weapons that well made, and trained?? Toros see what he's carring, while I go get healed." Flat-top stops in frount of Gectkar, turns and show him a big gash in his rounp,"I need for you to close this wound, And please don't tell any one where I got hurt? Please!"

Kanchana (to Leets and Managarm) Thursday May 6th, 2004 9:28:53 AM
Kanchana doesn't get any immediate responses about healing, so she asks Leets and Managarm a question instead. "Leets, could you ask Managarm if he can help Pah'caw track that man that fled. Managarm would you help Pah'caw and I with that task? Maybe you could catch him and hamstring him so he cannot run away?"
Leets d20+4=12 Thursday May 6th, 2004 1:04:16 PM

Toros searches the three bodies and comes up with a few interesting things. He packs them away quickly and then follows the others.
Managarm sniffs around following the scent of the orc that run away. Pah'caw sees nothing from the air in the direction of the orc but she does continue to scan the area.
Kanchana finds little splatters of blood on the rocks at several intervals and then they stop. Still it is not hard to follow the trail with all the scrap marks and displaced rocks.
The monolith symbol has no religious meaning to anyone but that does not mean that it is not a clan sign. Maybe the sign of an army from somewhere even.
[The falchions are medium sized and there are three of them. You will also find one of the orc's chainmail is stil in useable shape as well. Getting approval on all the other treasure so be patient.]
[The orc also has a sizable lead on the group as well. Still you maybe able to catch him. :)]

Toros is amazed with the performance of the battleaxe. He becomes more amazed with what he has found on the Orcs and packs these away for later check... He also did not forget to take one small piece of Orc souvenir to be his next totem.
"Hey wait for me!! Give me a second to pack and place these."
Then Toros tries to catch up with the others, moving careful but fast.
Flat-top Friday May 7th, 2004 10:02:25 AM
Flat-top smiles at Gecktar, "It is not nice for a fighter to have a scare in the back rump, it looks like I was running away, BUT in fact... Listen to what Brahmah said! I think the Captain is right, the Gold (Rythiniag) does not know that the Red Dragon is backing the Orcs. What have we gotten ourselves into?? We have to get rid of the Red dragon and her four hatchlings, plus take care of the Orcs. This is one big problem, not imposible, but a big problem. Kanchana does her best to try and follow the scuff marks and blood spatters that the fleeing orc has made. She hopes that he doesn't come across any of his own people before the Chosen catch him, since it would be very bad to be hunted while trying to complete Rythiniag's quest. She keeps an eye on Managarm and Pah'caw occasionally as well. Kanchana still has her scimitar ready in her hand.

The trail is still fresh and easy to follow with ease. Pah'caw has little luck spotting anything from the air at this time, but she does keep an eye on the group as they move.
Though the going is ruff, Kanchana is sure that you are slowly gaining on the orc. It is also apparent to her that if Managarm was left to run full out that he could possibly overtake the orc, but would it be soon enough.
The idea of the red financing an orc army does have it's merits. This might be something that Rythiniag might have not noticed.
Brahmah Friday May 7th, 2004 11:43:27 PM
He keeps running.
"Should we let Rathiniag know about the orcs?!" He debates recalling Pah'caw to send a message to Rathiniag. Thinking to himself, I could tie a note to here neck, or an animal messenger.
"Kanchana, can you send a messenger to Rathiniag?"
Kanchana d20+15=29 Saturday May 8th, 2004 4:02:18 AM
Kanchana nods, "Yes Brahmah I know that spell, but I didn't pray to the mother for it. I didn't think we would need it." Kanchana watches the ground as she moves ahead. "I think we are getting close to our quarry however. Could you ask Pah'caw to send the message? I don't think there will be any resting to be prepared to pray for new magics." Kanchana gives Brahmah an apologetic look for not being better prepared.

Brahmah Saturday May 8th, 2004 7:09:57 AM
"My bird, come here." As Brahmah moves, he rolls up the piece of tunic(containing the symbol) he cut from the orcs clothes. Then he stops briefly, turning to the Chosen. "Keep tracking the orcs, I'll find you. I'll be a minute." He then thinks a moment. "Wait, I need a pen and parchment." When he gets one, he scribbles the following note in broken but legible Common:
'great one, this cloth remoovd from ded ork, well equipt ork. we think orcs suport red. red suplying orks. thowt to tell you. did yu forgit tell us.' Sined, Chosen http://www.woldiangames.com/high_woldian/images/courage.gif
He's not used to writing at all.

This time, the Centaur paladin wants to be sure to be ready. His shield in one hand and his morningstar in the other, he cautiously looks for hidden opponents, on the ground or in the air...
The Chase. (DM Jim) Monday May 10th, 2004 4:48:05 PM
Managarm waits for the others to catch up with him. He is mulling around, seemingly distracted by something. He has found a new scent that is not the orc, but is on the same path as the air floats down to him.
Brahmah sends Pah'caw back with a message that she dutifully flies for him. She is soon lost to sight as she flies on down the mountain and back to the dragon's cave.
The group hurries on, maybe a little slower with the way Managarm has been acting these last few minutes. The group has gone some fourty feet further up the mountain, still following the trail that the orc is leaving. Laying sprawled out under one of the pine trees is a large form. It is not moving and does not appear to be living at this distance.
Anyone moving close enough will start to make out the general form of a liontaur, laying under the tree.

Brahmah seems more worried about his bird than the seemingly mangled remains of some unwitting taur, however, being Chosen it was their responsiblity to find out what happened to the taur-kin lying there.
"Kanchana, go see what killed the poor taur. I wonder why it's here of all places? This doesn't seem right, not right at all. Expect an ambush."(He's expecting ambush, Listen 23, Spot 11, Search 19, Survival 10)
Seemingly mangled remains of some unwitting taur (actually Zeoll) Monday May 10th, 2004 9:42:16 PM uuhhhh.
mmmmuuu.
From the quiet moaning and movement of the liontaur's chest up and down. it would seem that this Taur isn't quite dead yet.
He is a big taur clad in leather armor, with beads braided in his mane. Even unconscious, his hand firmly grasps the hilt of a greatsword.

Kanchana quickly approaches the liontaur under the tree and immediately proceeds to check for injuries and life signs (Heal 29), also stabilizes him. Her touch is very gentle and careful. "He is still alive Vasch. You take a few others and go find that creature. I will stay here and see to our Brother."
If Kanchana sees or feels that he needs some magical healing then she will use the wand that Gargul gave her. She speaks to the unconscious liontaur in Wemic as she checks him for wounds.
"What brought you here to this fate Brother? You look like you had a very bad day on the battlefield..." Kanchana looks at the armor and the great sword. She rambles on softly, talking out loud to herself (mostly), "You almost met Gargul. I wonder who you were defending?" The myriad of beads, shells and crystals braided into her hair clack together as she works.
Deciding that a quick fix is the best idea Kanchana draws a wand and touches it to the hapless liontaur.
(If the wounds are serious enough; CSW 15th lvl - heals 22 pts, if not; CLW - heals 5 pts. Kanchana will not use any wand charges if it isn't necessary. Her healing skill should tell her just how badly off Zeoll is.))

Unknown Taur. (DM Jim) Tuesday May 11th, 2004 9:51:46 PM
A close inspection of the body reveals that he is only unconscious. He is neither injured, dead or even dying...just exhausted. Kanchana nor Leets either one can find a reason to use any kind of healing on him.
Vasch, Toros, Managarm and possibly Gecktar continue on to catch the orc before he can get any further ahead, especially since they were gaining on him.
Pah'caw continues on her path to the dragon's cave with some ease. Her keen eyesight allow her to notice little details that she had noted earlier by instinct.
Further up the trail you see a brilliant bit of light fly into the air and then burst. You are not certain what this means, but if it was the orc then you are closer than you thought.
[Anyone that has adventured with Zoell in the past as one of The Chosen will find this taur to be very familiar (intelligence DC 12). This will allow you to recall that this taur looks like an old friend, his twin even.]

Leets gets a look at the half of the group that is chasing the orc.
"I don't like the idea of splitting the group...He doesn't seem wounded, and carrying him would probably not hurt..."
"What do you think Kanchana?"
Kanchana Wednesday May 12th, 2004 3:03:32 AM
Kanchana laughs as she puts her wand away for now. "Oh typical! I am always assuming the worst! He is not injured, he just looks worst for wear and is unconscious." Kanchana starts to shake the unfamiliar Taur (Zeoll) to see if she can wake him up. "Wake up Brother! You have slept long enough, trouble comes." Kanchana continues to speak in wemic, except to tell everyone else: "He is not injured just sleeping." She answers Leets question, "I think we should try and wake him first. If he does not awaken then we carry him. I agree with you Leets splitting the group is not a good thing to do now."
Brahmah d20-1=13 Wednesday May 12th, 2004 4:57:02 AM
Brahmah's ear perks as he hears his old friends name mentioned by Leets. "Zeoll. It can't be." He looks again. (Int check again, 13) "I guess he does look a little like him." He says with a grin, happy to have a kin of Zeoll within the mix again. "You don't suppose he's another Chosen, do you?" He askes, more focused now than earlier. "Zeoll, or I should say, the Zeoll's are famous for being Chosen. Wouldn't surprise me if this one is kin."
Zeoll Wednesday May 12th, 2004 5:50:56 AM
Kanchana's efforts at revivification bear fruit -- Zeoll's eyes open, and he looks around. In wemic, he murmurs, "Thank you, great Tomi!"
"And thank you as well," he says, more clearly, to Kanchana.
Zeoll is a big liontaur, clad in leather armor, carrying a greatsword and wearing a backpack. There is a totem bag around his neck. The beads woven in his mane reveal clues to his identity -- Warrior to Pride Nonowla that is no more, and Son to Clan Aene. A priest and follower of the traditional ways.
Then he hears Brahmah's voice, and turns to face the captain of the Chosen of Domi. "Kin to Zeoll?" he says. "No indeed, this is Zeoll himself! My frriend, it is I, rreturrned frrom death. Leets! Flat-top! It is good to see you again!"

The Taur and The Orc. (DM Jim) Wednesday May 12th, 2004 10:04:57 PM
Vasch, Managarm, Toros and possibly Gecktar spot the orc ahead of them. He has turned and is waiting with his sword drawn. It appears that he has run about as far as he cares to. Toros holds his spell a little longer as they draw a little nearer, but cannot release it quite yet.
The others were in for an even greater shock as the unknown taur reveals himself to be Zoell. One fact remains, can they believe what he is telling them and will they be able to grasp what they have just found out. Little by little, Zoell feels his body infused by an outer power and his strength is returning.
Pah'caw has found the cave and swoops inside to deliver her message. Though the dragon is scary, she does not feel the fear that she knows she should.
Toros HP (41/41) AC (22) Wednesday May 12th, 2004 11:34:11 PM

"Well Vasch I am not sure whether it may be that much easy to go and get this orc after seeing theattack of the orcs, laying liontaur, the light and having no clue of what might be the relation among them. Perhaps it is better to make him come here and stay away from where he has positioned himself. I can "command" him to come here, what do you think?"

"Well, we'll have a lot to tell you, so many things happened, but maybe it's not the most perfect moment, we were attacked, and it sounds like we found one of our fleeing opponent. Let's follow Managarm!"
"We're arriving my dog!"

The minotaur slowly approaches the wemic, hand out stretched, then as if not expecting to poke anything, Brahmah's pointer finger jabs Zeoll's shoulder. "AcK!" The minotaur begins shaking, from delight more than shock. "ZEOLL!" The wemic is bowled over as Brahmah embraces his friend. "We have so much to tell you... it's ... well... there's hardly time now! We're evicting some red dragons from the area. It's so Kenisha and Vrurt can get to the Floating City safely with the Children, the Unitaur Children of Domi. The Children of Domi are arriving Zeoll." The taur is very excited to be telling his friend. "Oh, I almost forgot..." The leader begins to unbraid several familiar feathers from his hair (except the Quall's token), they are Zeoll's, retrieved from his body before his burial. Brahmah seems to have kept them for safe keeping... almost like he expected Zeoll to return. "...Here, I think belong to you." He grin stupidly. "So... are you Zeoll the Greater, the Lesser, or the Pheonix?? From the Ashes by Domi?! Domi's Pheonix." Proud of the nickname, and a very suitable nickname to be sure. "Come, Zeoll the Pheonix. There are new friends, further ahead on the trail for you to meet... as well as orcs."

To Confront an Orc. (DM Jim) Thursday May 13th, 2004 11:29:51 PM
While the group back with Zeoll go through thier reunion and greet thier brother back, the other group is confronting the orc.
Vasch decides that is is best to kill the orc now and not give him any time to do anything else. His first arrow skips off the orcs armor and passes harmlessly into the distance. The second arrow finds an opening in the orcs armor and drives him back a couple of steps.
Toros follows suit and fires off an arrow of his own. It buries itself into the orcs leg but seems to be not as bad as the earlier one.
With greetings accomplish the other group rushes to catch up with the group encountering the orc. They have gone a good distance but have not caught up yet.

She doesn't look dressed for rugged travel at all. Ekaeli frowns as the wind blows through her hair almost ruining her neatly done coiffure. With her keen Elven vision Ekaeli spots a group of Taurs off in the distance.
"Out of all the Gods-forsaken places in the Wold I have to make a delivery here... *sigh*. They couldn't be in a bustling city or a lush forest! Oh no, that is just too much to ask!"
The harried She-Elf hurries towards the Taurs picking her way up the barren mountain carefully, yet as quickly as she dares.
When she gets close enough to hail the group she calls out, "Are you the ones known as the Chosen of Domi? I have a delivery to make. A Brahmah ordered one Wand of Speak with Animals with 50 charges, two Oils of Magic Weapon, one pearl of power mounted into an earring - he took that with him actually, and one Quaal's Feather Token (Tree) - which he also took with him. Which one of you is Brahmah?"
Ekaeli speaks Common with a noticable Elven accent. She frevently hopes that she doesn't have to repeat herself. She stands there waiting for confirmation and identication from a Taur named Brahmah. The package is held firmly under her right arm. Ekaeli taps her foot as she waits; this is an old habit of hers when she has to wait for something.
"I need whoever is Brahmah to sign a slip confirming the delivery as well." Ekaeli has a pen to sign the delivery slip and the slip itself held in her left hand.
Flat-top Friday May 14th, 2004 7:11:12 PM
Flat-top look at the little pixie then to Brahmah, "Well Captain sigh for your package??"
Dead Orc, Dead Orc. (DM Jim) Friday May 14th, 2004 10:40:11 PM
The group is suddenly accosted by the arrival of a delivery person. Though what a delivery person would be doing up here in the mountains... Still she has something for Brahmah to evidently he order and needs to sign for.
The dead orc reveals the same symbol from earlier. That of a black round toped stone with a flat bottom. Zeoll looks over the marking carefully but does not feel that it has any significance to him.
Some scan the area for any signs of an ambush, but it appears that the orc had decided that he would not run any further. It could be that whatever sent the flare made him stop as well. But why? Fear? Orders? Or something else?
Brahmah Friday May 14th, 2004 11:56:15 PM
"Ekaeli. Hello. I'll sign." He signs. "Now you should be off, there are evil dragons about."
"Chosen, let's find the reds." The taur continues up the path.
Leets Saturday May 15th, 2004 3:18:20 PM
The Centaur paladin welcomes back his celestial dog.
"Come on Managarm, here is an old friend who came back, Zeoll! Good dog, you did a good hunt to find this orc, good dog..."
Ekaeli makes a CC delivery (CC Staffer Eunice) Sunday May 16th, 2004 6:54:35 AM
Ekaeli smiles slightly, "Trust me I have no intention of staying for long. I see one dead orc already, and where there is one of those filthy creatures many more are certain to follow." She doesn't mention anything about dragons but it is clear that she doesn't appreciate the presence of evil dragons either. When Ekaeli gets the necessary signiture she thanks Brahmah, "Thank you for your business Sir. Safe journies to you all." Immediately upon saying her farewell she disappears in a muted flash and more of those faint, sparkling motes of light.
Zeoll Sunday May 16th, 2004 7:09:59 AM
Zeoll introduces himself to the rest of the group. "Hello. I'm Zeoll, once and now again a Chosen of Domi. I was just brrought back to life. I'm a barrd and a drruid. I look forrwarrd to meeting you all."
As he says this, he follows wherever the group goes to fight whatever enemies they face.
Flat-top Sunday May 16th, 2004 7:28:48 AM
Flat-top Look at Zeoll with wonder in his eyes, Then make this remark to Zeoll "Wait till Kenisha See the look of you. And Oh! iI wonder what you'll say when you meet her colt?"
Flat-top turn up the trail, following Brahmah.
Managram(ceil) Sunday May 16th, 2004 7:39:30 AM
Managran sniff the dead Orc, turns his backside to the body and scratches some dirt on it. Managram run to his master, sits beside him. Then watches this new Taur.
Kanchana Sunday May 16th, 2004 7:44:44 AM
Kanchana comes back from studying whatever tracks and signs she could find. She just catches Zeoll's words about being a bard and a druid. "You are a Warden and you chose to return among the living? Your sense of duty to this wold must be very strong indeed!" Kanchana looks genuinely surprised, she has not heard of any Druids that have died and then returned before. Indeed she didn't think that any druid would want to return after death; you live you learn! "Welcome Zeoll - welcome back I should say - among the Chosen. I am Kanchana, a Warden of Mother Wold; or a Druid as you put it."
((Jim, did Kanchana find anything on her searches from the last post?))
Paw'caw(ceil) Sunday May 16th, 2004 7:46:41 AM
Paw'caw sits on the palm of the Gold One, she tries to undo the message and that bulky thing on her foot. She's having a little bit of trouble(she thinks to herself)'It's a good chance I like my Master, or else I would not do this!!'
Toros d20=9 Monday May 17th, 2004 1:58:42 AM
"This is Toros, Zeoll. It is a honour to meet you. I have heard heroic stories... the spikeball game,... and others. I am also a bard, but my skills cannot be compared with yours, of course. Actually I am a barbarian with some cleric and bardic skills."
After welcoming Zeoll, Toros will also find time to check the body of the orc and take anything valuable or interesting for group use. (d20, 9)
Vasch d20+9=11 d20+9=25 d20+5=12 Monday May 17th, 2004 9:06:11 PM
Vasch continues to keep his eye out for signs of additional trouble as they others catch-up. He attention seems to be drawn ahead along the trail.
He pauses briefly at the new arrival. With a out stretched arm he extends a gesture of greetings. "I am Vasch. It's good to see Tomi and Gargul have given another of the Chosen a second chance, welcome."
He turns and goes back to his vigilance.
[Survival DC11, Spot DC25, Listen DC12]
The Continueing Adventures. (DM Jim) Monday May 17th, 2004 11:49:33 PM
A quick scan of the body reveals only the sword is still in good shape. The armor has a fair sized hole in it from the arrow from earlier.
Kanchana searches again but comes up with nothing of note around the area. The trail ends with the orc and where he lays.
Pah'caw back with the dragon finds the string easily bitten through and the note delivered. The dragon seems to not want to send any reply, but it is evident that he is very angry. The rumbling starts out rather low and grows in intensity till it actually can be heard and felt outside, clear to The Chosen. She begins her flight back.
Traveling further up the path you get the feeling that you are being shadowed by something or someone. Not that you see anything but you just get this feeling a warriors's sixth sense.
[Sam - Kale is in the trees ahead, hidden in the shadows of one. You have been watching The Chosen move along the path for some time. You have been having a little fun doing it too, though you know that you will have to show yourself soon. They are after all getting nervous and suspicious.]
Kale Tuesday May 18th, 2004 1:37:39 AM
a minotaur, with no horns, dressed in a dark blue duster and a dark blue floppy hat just appears out of nowhere. the only other things visible on him is a shortsword on his hip and a quiver on his back. as soon as he appears all he simply says is "Hello."
Flat-top Tuesday May 18th, 2004 3:05:00 AM
Flat-top senses that there something or somebody else arrond here, an odd feeling, then out of nowhere this figure appears. Flat-top let the chain go on his morning star, when he reconises the minotaur. "Why you old Rouge! I could have killed you! But it's sooo good to see you again". At this point Flat-top approches and grabs the old friend, giving Kale an Hug and patting his back, "Welcome back friend! I missed you. I even got a couple of tatoos in you memorie." he whispers into Kales ear.
Brahmah d20+5=15 d20+5=7 Tuesday May 18th, 2004 4:09:57 AM
Hearing something and unsure what it is, the minotaur whips around drawing both weapons. "Wh.. oh, you must joking!? Kale! Are there any taurs left in the Isles, or are they all on the side of this mountain?" The taur grins in reaction to the urban ranger's sudden, and VERY welcome, appearance.
"Welcome back freind. Zeoll just returned no more than thirty minutes ago. Can you believe it?!"
"There's alot to tell you. Nows not really the time. We're hunting red dragons... and conspiring orcs seem to be massing. If we needed you, it's now more than ever. The Children are to be moved to the Big Float, some floating city where they'll be safe." He continues up the path, weapons still drawn, not knowing what to expect. (Spot 15, Listen 7)
"Domi's Children are being born, Kale. Kenisha has a beautiful girl. Their with the ancient gold back in that direction..." Pointing down the trail. "...I suppose you know that though." He grins, knowing the rogue must have enjoyed tracking us.
"How did you find us? Are we THAT easy to find friend?"
Leets Tuesday May 18th, 2004 4:12:03 AM
"Kale!"
"Nice to have you back among us! I feel like Domi is definitively gathering his Chosen before a great battle! For sure this one is going to be of epic scale with such a group of faithful defenders!"
Zeoll Tuesday May 18th, 2004 7:04:13 AM
When Kanchana asks Zeoll about coming back from the dead, Zeoll laughs. "Many of the dead in the Lands of Rrest felt the same way you do, good Warrden. They urrged me to be content with life's ending, and prreparre forr the next cycle of rrebirrth. But I was rrestless, always thinking of the mission to which I had pledged my life, and failed to achieve. Grreat Tomi himself charrged me with helping to unite the Taurr Rraces, and that task is still undone. How could I rrest and be content?"
Zeoll actually blushes when Toros compliments him. "I am just a dabblerr, rreally! Being dead forr two yearrs gave me the opporrtunity to rreflect on my flaws, and they arre numerrous. I was too prroud in life, Torros. I am trrying to be morre honest with myself this time. But thank you verry much forr yourr kindness to a strrangerr, my new frriend!"
Then Vasch mentions Tomi and Gargul, and Zeoll shudders with a convulsive reflex. "Yes, it was a prriest of Tomi -- a human prriest -- who brrought me back. And great Gargul himself questioned me and gave me a quest. I wish, trruly wish, I could rrememberr what it was!"
"But therre was a thirrd god as well -- the old enemy of Tomi, the god of sickness and disease, the foul lorrd of contagion and infection. Though I hate to rrecall it, he met me and gave me a message for all of you, my frriends."
The liontaur pauses, lost in thought -- unpleasant thought, judging by the look on his face and the droop of his tail.
Kale appears, and Zeoll's face brightens. "Hey! It is good to see you again, old frriend," he says. He does not realize that Kale is a recent returnee too, since Kale was still with the group when Zeoll died.
Looking at Brahmah, Flat-top, Leets, and Kale, Zeoll says, "I am looking forrwarrd to catching up, but what is this about an epic battle? Evicting rred drragons? Unless the Chosen of Domi have grrown mighty indeed, I wonderr how we can hope to evict morre than one rred drragon!"
Kanchana Tuesday May 18th, 2004 7:29:04 AM
"I have been to Gargul's realm, I do not blame you for not wanting to stay there Zeoll. Gargul is too intense... rather frightening at times I'd say." Kanchana remembers the look Gargul gave her and his command to her. She shivers. "I have just never heard of any Wardens returning from the dead before. I didn't think we would be afforded that chance really."
Kanchana was going to ask about Marteus' message to the Chosen when Kale shows up. She remembers Kale; he was so incredibly sceptical to her when she first showed up.
"Well met once again Kale." Kanchana returns to her previous topics, "Zeoll, they are only small cub dragons. 3 or 4 of them, try not to kill them; they are only cubs after all." With a sharper tone of voice she comments, "certainly a slaughter of cubs won't be epic at all." Kanchana's staunch disagreement with killing the young dragons bleeds through into her commentary. "What is the message from the Lord of Plagues?"
Paw'caw(ceil) d20+15=30 Tuesday May 18th, 2004 10:04:45 AM
Paw'caw jumps into the air before the claws can close on her. She flies around the cavern as the gold dragon rages. She glides low to see the little one are safe. The children point to the portal leading to the out side. Not a word was said BUT she knew the littles ones were safe for now. Shes finnaly out side, She climbs to her Spoting hight(30). She spots her master, dives and lands on his shoulder. For the first time in her short life, she is trembling with fear.
Managram(ceil) Tuesday May 18th, 2004 10:26:53 AM
Managran sits next to his master, when Kale jumps out to say Hello. The dog is starttle, starts to growls at Kale "Grrr! woof? Grrr!" Not too sure of himself since Leets is welcoming him to the pack?? the dog goes to Kale hoof, smells his scent?? then the dog tell kale what he thinks of him "Bark! Bark! Bark!"
Toros Tuesday May 18th, 2004 11:42:36 AM
Toros is surprised to see just "one more Taur" on the road. It seems that the pack is back but when he tries to connect with the dragons or orcs his mind starts aching refusing to proceed any thought... Can it be possible that the gold dragon has also forgotten to tell the Chosen about the taurs, this is both a joking and serious statement at the same time... And who are the Chosen after all...
Well, Managram seems to handle this better than him. Toros also wishes he would be able to smell his scent!!
Anyhow, he approaches and welcomes Kale and introduces himself with some short but sincere, warm and kind enough expressions. But he feels that Kale also owes an explanation to the group.
Vasch d20+9=22 d20+9=21 d20+5=22 Tuesday May 18th, 2004 2:18:17 PM
The sudden appearance of Kale and the ressurection of Zeoll put Vasch on edge.
This is NOT good...Kale intercepts us here and Tomi has decided to give back a Chosen...all before taking on a brood of dragons...this is definity NOT good...
As the reunions continue, Vasch keeps his vigil out and up the mountain an arrow still notched in his bow. His face carries a calm, but inside a great weight grows.

Gecktar... is back Tuesday May 18th, 2004 5:00:53 PM
Completly confused by what happened Gecktar can only says some words of welcome to Zeoll first as it seems the ancien Chosen know him and few minuts later to Kale that also seems to be another Chosen. "Well, my friends, if you allow me to call you friends, strange things happened here... Hope the enjoying time we have now will last longer than any of us imagine..." "I'm happy to meet you both... Chosen are always needed as I can judge by my little experience"
To Travel On. (DM Jim) Tuesday May 18th, 2004 8:39:49 PM
After a series of hellos and many hugs from all the group appears ready to move on. Pah'caw takes that moment to make an appearance on her master's shoulder as well.
Moving on the group finds that the path is a little easier to move along, as if it had been taken care of a little. It would appear that Domi has great plans for his Chosen and is giving them the weapons to use in this coming battle.
[Kale has the following information that he can pass on, should he be willing to. ;) There is an encampment further up the hill that has orcs stationed at it. It would appear to be a big camp set up as an advance scout for someone. He also saw a couple of ogres hanging around as well, but did not hang there long. He would estimate that they should reach the camp in about three hours.]
[Current time is around one.]
Kale Tuesday May 18th, 2004 9:56:06 PM
feeling a bit awakward at everyone's greetings and Flat-Top's hug, Kale quickly disengages himself from the centaur's embrace and dust himself off. "There is an orc encampment up ahead. It looks like either a small raiding group or a scout group for a large army. I didnt have time to count all the orcs, but there are at least two ogres, possibly more. Its about three hours away." then Kale pauses for a minuet, then he says, "Ive been asked to rejoin you all again, and I found that I couldnt refuse. Now, follow me and ill lead you to the camp." Kale then reaches into his quiver and pulls out a shortbow, then he takes his place at the front of the group and begins to lead them along the path.
Toros Wednesday May 19th, 2004 1:39:07 AM
"Cool!!"
"And Kale, we saw a light rising to the sky close to the place where we encountered that orc, do you have any idea about what this light could be related with?"
Gecktar Wednesday May 19th, 2004 2:49:49 AM
"Mmmh..., an encampment of orcs here... It is strange as there is a Great Dragon not far, maybe do they intend o assault him with a large force..."
"I think you are right Kale. We must investigate to see what they are doing and how many they are."
On these words he take a glance to his captain Brahmah for approval and prepare to follow Kale.
Brahmah Wednesday May 19th, 2004 5:45:01 AM
"Follow Kale, he's great at what he does."
He greets Pah'caw with a piece of meat from a baggy.
"Yes, Gecktar, I think the Red Dragon is guiding the orcs either to the village or to kill the Gold."
He moves in behind Kale. "Flat-top, take up the rear. Kanchana, can you cover our tracks behind Flat-top?"
Leets Wednesday May 19th, 2004 6:04:57 AM
Leets laugh and calls Managarm back:
"It's ok my dog! Just another friend! Kale is ok, and you would probably enjoy a hunting party with him, for sure!"
The Centaur paladin darkens when Zeoll talks of his experience from beyond...
"I would gladly ear what the lord of contagion wanted us to know...However, I feel like you didn't come back only to play the messenger Zeoll! So, as it was said, we have a couple of small reds to catch and bring elsewhere...Sounds like a challenge for the Chosen, isn't it!"
"As for the orc village, we should be careful about all this...Remember the test we passed recently: we would have failed if we had attacked the orcs...Maybe it was a warning from the old wise Zethen...And after all, those orcs could probably be valuable allies in the battle against the small reds..."
Flat-top Wednesday May 19th, 2004 9:20:43 AM
Flat-top answers Brahmah "Yes! Captain!" but would like to be up frount where the action will be. To Kanchana, he tells her "Well it look like your stuck with me, Kitten." Flat-top will stay ahead of her, so she can do her job.
Vasch Wednesday May 19th, 2004 9:34:30 AM An omen, has to be. Vasch thinks over and over in his mind.
Scouting party... "Kale what direction are they coming from and do we know anything about that area. It may help us determine if this is just a war party or a prelude to something larger."
"I would like to hear the message from the Diseased One." He says to Zeoll. "It was important enough for you to be detered on your journey back from Gargul's Realm."
Paw'caw(ceil) Wednesday May 19th, 2004 9:41:39 AM
Paw'caw is so scared that she almost refused the food, But she ate it anyway. She will not take to flight, staying on Brahmah's shoulder. Like an ancher with her claws into his padding.
Managran(ceil) Wednesday May 19th, 2004 9:49:29 AM
Managram tries to think(in a doggie way)what Leets has just said?? 'Hmmm! Scard Minotaur can hunt, Hunt means bones!! Hunt good! Bones Better!!' So managram will go in frount of Leets in the line of march.
Zeoll d20+5=12 Wednesday May 19th, 2004 11:25:09 AM
In answer to Kanchana and Leets, Zeoll says, "The foul lorrd's message was brrief -- simply that we Chosen arre to stay out of his way. I don't know what that means, though."
After listening to the paladin, Zeoll looks thoughtful. "I am not as eagerr for battle as I was beforre you all let me die, my frriends. I think talking is a good tactic to trry."
Zeoll tries to think about anything he might have heard regarding orcish parley customs. What do orcs use for a white flag? [OOC: Bardic Lore check 12].
[OOC: After being unconscious, does Zeoll have access to his usual spells? Outdoor set or indoor set?]
Toros Wednesday May 19th, 2004 12:46:55 PM
"I wonder the reaction of our gold dragon, too." contributes Toros to the discussion.
Kanchana d20+5=17 d20+15=22 Wednesday May 19th, 2004 6:19:34 PM
Kanchana smiles wryly to Zeoll and simply answers: "suits me." She of course means that staying out of Marteus' way is fine by her for the moment. Kanchana moves to the rear of the group and looks over the trail that they are obviously leaving. "I will try to cover our tracks Brahmah. I cannot remove our scent though. Unless we use that scent-breaker I made before; I don't think I have enough left though." She chuckles at Flat-top's comment about being stuck with him. "Of all of us I would rather be stuck with you Flat-top." She works as efficiently as she can covering the tracks.

Brahmah Wednesday May 19th, 2004 7:44:14 PM
"Just do your best Kanchana."
An Orc Encampment. (DM Jim) Wednesday May 19th, 2004 10:32:50 PM
You move out with Kale leading the group along to the camp that he found earlier. Kanchana easily hides your tracks from sight or at least she cannot tell too well that they had passed.
Zeoll thinks over what he can remember of orcs and their practices in war. He remembers that in most orcish tribes they have no word for parley or surrender. The will retreat if it is warranted but they do not call it that.
You have been traveling for some time. If estimated by the position of the sun you would guess it at about almost four. Kale calls a stop as he looks over some of the surrounding and then nods. Just around the bend in the road is the camp.
[Kale - You would classify the camp as more of an advance scouting party. The camp is a series of tents set up with a fire pit in the middle of it. The mountainal area is rough to traverse on the sides and this is a rather nice clearing. There is no real cover to advance from as well, just some scattered trees.]
AMMENDMENT [I have put up a legend for what all the symbols mean. I have also given the location of The Chosen on the map, not with a symbol yet. Everything else is there as well. We will be going round by round now as you are about to enter some kind of combat.]
Brahmah Thursday May 20th, 2004 2:38:48 AM
(OOC: While your map is wonderful, it is unclear where exactly the Chosen are. The lay out of the camp is also a little unclear. What do each of the symbols mean? What does a square represent?)
Brahmah deliberates tactics and movement. He's not sure whether the orcs and ogres are milling about or seem prepared for the pending combat.
He sheathes his kukri(Falchion remains unsheathed) and steps back from the mouth of the path. He then casts Detect Snares and Pits and concentrates.
He signals for the Chosen to move back several yards.
Zeoll Thursday May 20th, 2004 6:33:54 AM
Zeoll hears the captain of the Chosen and takes a move action back (40 feet).
"These crreaturres will not parrley unless we get the upperr hand firrst!" Zeoll tells the group.
Then, if the orcs and ogres have seen the group, and if the party is within 480 feet, then Zeoll casts Entangle centered on square J(Down)-N(Across).
Otherwise, the liontaur casts Message on Kale and Brahmah so he can communicate wth both of them no matter where on the battlefeld they go.
If he has time, Zeoll will cast both spells! (Are we going round by round, Jim?)
Kale Thursday May 20th, 2004 7:11:15 AM
before they arrive, Kale tells Toros "Its probably a signal light, so we should expect them to be aware of us." then he tells Vasch "Im certain its a scouting party." then, once they get there, Kale tells Brahmah "I can get behind the camp with no problem. Does anyone else here have the ability to keep up with me?"
Vasch Thursday May 20th, 2004 1:24:18 PM
"Kale, I'm coming with you." He says. "I would try and soften up those ogres with missile fire before getting in close on them." He says to the others.
Vasch will be drinking an Elixer of Hiding, +10 circ. bonus to Hide that lasts for 1 hour, when they move out.
Flat-top Thursday May 20th, 2004 4:17:22 PM
Flat-top comes up the rear of the party, ask in a low voice, "Ok! Kanchana is right behind me, What the picture down there Brahmah?".
Paw'caw(ceil) Thursday May 20th, 2004 4:20:50 PM
Paw'caw prems herself, and wait for her master to move.
Managram(ceil) Thursday May 20th, 2004 4:27:05 PM
Managram sit beside his master but is getting restless, He move to the other side on Leets, then wines a little. Move again the edge of the rocks. But goes back to Leets.
Kanchana (42/44 HP, AC 19) Thursday May 20th, 2004 6:06:46 PM
Kanchana chimes in, "since we are splitting our forces are we going to send a healer with Kale and Vasch?" After saying her piece she waits to hear from Brahmah or possibly Kale about where she will be positioned. "I have two mist spells, an entangle spell and a soften earth spell ready if we need any such spells. They might help to create confusion among those creatures." Kanchana holds her spells for now, instead she waits to hear a battle plan or the "right moment" to cast her spells; which ever comes first. She readies her scimitar.
Brahmah Thursday May 20th, 2004 9:00:02 PM
Whispering, "Remember Kanchana, we need to be able to see too. You could create a moat of soft earth around those ogres. Wait... mist... smoke... We need to see... but it's them we want blind... we can stay here on the path and kill them as the orcs flee. Kind of like a smoke charge shot into the hull of a ship... it gets the sailors to the deck, where they can be picked off while their blinded. Do we have smoke?!"
The battle seasoned taur shakes his head, frusterated with the set-up. "This isn't good, they know we're here." He sheathes his falchion and draws and strings his taur-sized bow. "We'll need our best archers... Vasch? Kale? What do you think? Cross-fire? They're boxed in, I think we have the advantage."
"We need to know who their commander is. We cut off the serpent's head and the snake will die."
(Arg.)
Toros Thursday May 20th, 2004 9:00:25 PM
Toros will cast "lullaby" on the orc encampment, targeting the ones in the range who seem to be in a guarding position.
"I hope this can ease our movement to the camp, especially if they are waiting for us." (-5 to the spot and listen checks of effected orcs and ogres) "Also, if any of us happen to have a sleep spell it should become more effective against the orcs now. Zeoll I wonder if you know any spell like that?"
"I have been thinking the same Kanchana. I can accompany Kale and Vasch but I neither know strong spells nor have a wand to use in urgency yet.
