Mac Tuesday May 18th, 2004 7:54:14 PM
"Gry, how d'ye fare?"
The taur looks about as the calls of "Fire!" go up. He looks form Tishe' to Trellus and back, as if expecting a change in orders (again).
DM George "Only humans start forest fires" d100=2 d100=20 Tuesday May 18th, 2004 10:17:09 PM
OOC Folks, I am not running this as combat rounds as of yet. Please list the different actions you might want to do, and when it gets nasty, I will switch over to combat rounds if necessary. Figure 5 minutes have passed since Gilan unleased his fire elementals
Gilan's scene: Gilan looks around with dismay as the ship starts slowing and comes to a stop. The crew is able to eventually beat out and the flames but the sails are totally gone and the spars damaged.
The crew looks on in panic as grasses around the ship start catching into a bigger flame. There is much running around and even the Captain looks worried. He calls out for poles to be used to push the ship away from the flames.
He yells, "Get the spare sails from the hold! Hurry up or we will all fry!"
The Grass Swift: The smoke seems to be getting thicker.
Annuk does see a natural fire break but and it might help the Grass Swift but he wonders if it can help Gilan.
Tishe' d20+8=22 Wednesday May 19th, 2004 2:45:41 AM
The energetic woman continues to use all her skill to bring the GrassSwift towards the fire, the other boat, and Gilan (Craft:22) Perhaps it is the thought of fire on the plains that actually settles Tishe' down and concentrate on what she's doing. The conjurer has seen fire on the plains near HookCity once, and can only imagine the horror of it unleased with nothing to stop it.
Reviewing her spells and possessions, she ruefully knows there is nothing she can do about the fire. She will have a web spell ready for the other boat's steering poles in case they are still running.
Jake Wednesday May 19th, 2004 6:37:57 AM
"Ah hope the fires 're Gilan at work. Should we be worryin' bout the fires gettin after us?" Jake calls loudly to the captain.
Trellus Wednesday May 19th, 2004 10:16:18 AM
"Gilan might have woven too tightly," Trellus says in agreement with Jake.
The cleric can only watch and pray as the Swift gets closer.
Gilan - HP: 43, AC: 18 (spider climb) Wednesday May 19th, 2004 1:52:26 PM
Gilan keeps an eye on the lot as he peers over the side of the railing. He takes the time to check out the location of sailors. Especially near the steering poles and where the captain locates himself on the ship.
Using his ability to hang on the side of the ship and move. He slowly makes his way towards the steering poles from the outer-side of the ship. "Come on guys...we maybe able to stop the fires if you hurry along." He glances to the fires on the plains and shakes his head. It was just a little bit more than he had wanted, maybe one elemental would have been enough.
[Are the poles situated that Gilan can get to them from the outside of the ship? How badly is the fire spreading?]
[Spider Climb - 45 minutes: based on 5 minutes passing.]
Tiev and Zilia Wednesday May 19th, 2004 10:13:02 PM
The wasps fly over and around the ship, trying to act as normal insects would. They check in on their druid friend, but do not dally overlong in order not to draw any undue attention to their friend.
DM George d20=1 d100=97 Wednesday May 19th, 2004 10:14:00 PM
Gilan climbs to the back of the ship. He is still unseen as the crew is still scurrying around putting out fires and getting new sails. The fires on the plain seems to be a distraction as well.
The fires are still burning but their hasn't been much wind so they aren't spreading very quickly.
The ship is a dead stop so the polemen aren't doing very much but looking at the fires. Gilan can try to affect them but it will most likely draw attention to himself.
Flea d20+3=13 Wednesday May 19th, 2004 10:18:02 PM
Flea stays at her post and tries to discern the size, speed of the fire as well as the direction it is taking.
(OOC: Don't really know what to roll here. Knowledge check? d20+3(INT)=13 DM apply any penalties you see fit since this is an untrained check.)
Grymash Wednesday May 19th, 2004 10:34:11 PM
Grymash looks up and sees the smoke. "YEAHHH!! Way ta gooo Gilan!! Maybe da fire do packs wurk for uss!! BURN, PIGGIES, BURNNN!!"
Grymash begins to prepare for battle. He starts to gather his things together. Gry kneels and prays to Gargul for guidance, thanks for the priviledge of life and his daily spells. ----------------------- Spells: Insight Domain - True Strike 0 Level - Water (3), Detect Magic 1 Level - Protection from Evil, Doom
Anuk Thursday May 20th, 2004 12:38:56 AM
"Captain...Tishe'...Trellus...over there! I think there's a spot where we can wait out the fire if we need to!"
From his perch in the rigging, Anuk points in the direction of the fire break he has seen.
Tishe' d20+8=9 Thursday May 20th, 2004 2:13:28 AM
Distracted by the fire and Anuk's discovery of a fire break, Tishe' runs to the ranger's side completely forgetting to steer the ship.(Craft: nat 1)
It takes a little while for her to understand what Anuk is pointing at, not having any expertise about the Plains (Take 20 for Knowledge?), but finally nods. "Good eyes Anuk, you're a sweetie."
She turns her thoughts back to the growing fire ahead of them. "I wonder if Gilan has any druidic picks to suppress the fires, like weaving water or a fire elemental or a sandstorm."
At any look about her choice of fire extinguishers, the plain-faced woman explains. "Well, water of course. A fire elemental can supress fire as well as create them, and sand or dirt can put out a fire as well if there is enough."
Trellus Thursday May 20th, 2004 9:46:26 AM
Trellus steps up next to Tishe'.
"No water unless we're at the last thread," he instructs. "Water attracts all the Plains creatures."
"Now lets get to that boat and Gilan, then we'll worry about the fire."
DM George Thursday May 20th, 2004 10:31:59 AM
Grass Swift scene: The ship is making good time towards the smoke and fire. The Captain is also helping run the ship and tactfully covers some of Tishe's flubs and gives her encouraging smiles.
Flea believes she is seeing more smoke but the distance is too great to be able to tell if the fire is growing or spreading.
Gilan - HP: 43, AC: 14 (spider climb) Thursday May 20th, 2004 11:38:29 AM
Gilan calmly keeps up his position near the steering poles waits for the GrassSwift to catch up. He will take stock of how fast they are getting things set up to move again. He gently moves his muscles so that they do not cramp up on him as he hangs on the side of the ship. "Come on guys."
He also keeps an eye out for his friends and the ship as well. He knows that he may have to stop them from moving again if they do not hurry or they try a run for it when they spot the GrassSwift.
[Spider Climb - 45 minutes: based on 5 minutes passing.]
Jake Thursday May 20th, 2004 2:24:05 PM
Jake waits, patiently chewing on a stalk of grass.
Grymash Thursday May 20th, 2004 5:27:58 PM
An impatient half-orc proclaims, "Gry wish me could reach out an grab da tiny boat from here. Gry would crush it in hands until nothin' left!"
DM George "Sail ahoy!" d100=92 d100=82 d100=24 d20+5=22 d100=38 Thursday May 20th, 2004 6:08:13 PM
40 minutes have elapsed and Gilan's spiderclimb spell is starting to wind down. The crew on the raider's ship has been very busy, removing old burnt sails and ropes, repairing spars and getting the ship back in shape.
Things are starting to look better for them and they are preparing to get underway again. They have been drifting in the wind or at a complete stop for the last 45 minutes or so.
The fire is still going but really hasn't taken off. Seems to be a lot of smoke, but not a lot of flames. In the last 20 minutes, a slight breeze has picked up and the fire is starting to spread again.
Neither ship is threatened from the flames though.
Gilan hears a scream from the lookout. "Ship of the stern Captain!" Many rush to take a look and one looks down right into Gilan's eyes. "Hey!" he yells. "We have a stowaway!" pointing at Gilan.
The Grass Swift sees the other ship and is steadily gaining on it.
Flea Thursday May 20th, 2004 9:13:37 PM
The gnome's palms start to sweat, in anticipation of the pending attack on the enemy vessel. Flea secures herself at the top of the main mast, and strings her bow.
Tiev and Zilia Thursday May 20th, 2004 9:15:54 PM
Tiev and Zilia hover protectively about Gilan, ready to attack the druid's enemies at the slightest provocation.
Tishe' d20+8=17 Friday May 21st, 2004 2:40:57 AM
"Really?" the conjurer says brightly. "Didn't know that about water and Sargrass creatures." She pats Trellus on the forearm. "You're a sweetie, too." Satisfied, she goes back to running the ship.
Tishe' smiles back at the Captain, glad that more experienced hands are at the steering oar, so to speak. But that won't stop the small woman from doing her part! (Craft: 17)
Calling over the sound of ship, wind, and other voices, the plain-faced woman speaks to Trellus. "I don't have spells effective at further than 150 feet. Perhaps if we're close enough, the sorceress' flying spells would be helpful on Grymash and Mac!"
Trellus d20+8=18 Friday May 21st, 2004 11:26:22 AM
"Get ready Gry!" Trellus calls. "As soon as we're close enough, we'll fly you and Mac over to keep them from going anywhere."
Trellus eagerly tries to gauge the distance between the two ships. He also tries to spot Gilan. [Spot 18]
"Come on, dude. Where are you?"
Gilan - HP: 43, AC: 14 Friday May 21st, 2004 1:17:04 PM
Gilan smiles at the man and then gives him a salute. "Actually...I flew here and did not stow away." With that he slips down the side of the ship, feeling that his spell is about to run out. He slips into the grasses of the plains and moves along beside the ship.
He stops at the side of the ship feeling that it will be less likely that they will look for him there. "Well at least the GrassSwift is catching up with them." He breaks into another smile as he falls into the powers of nature for another spell.
DM George d100=10 Friday May 21st, 2004 3:19:04 PM
Gilan drops to the ground and feels his ankle buckle under him. He falls to the ground and when he stands back up, he has a slight limp.
The raider's ship is a buzz with activity. The sails are being raised and it starts to get underway. Gilan can easily keep up with it and he can see the steering poles quite clearly.
The Grass Swift closes to about a 1/2 mile but the other ship is moving again and is trying to get away. Smoke from the fires obscures sight occassionally.
Grymash d20-2=18 Friday May 21st, 2004 3:40:29 PM
Grymash yells, "Hit Gry an Mac wit duh Flyin' magik. Even Jake! Weez can catch'em!!"
(Intelligence check 18, natural 20)
(At half a mile [2,640ft] it would take Gry and Mac 22 rounds [2 minutes and 12 seconds] to catch the other boat if they fly 120 feet a round [double movements]. 5 extra rounds if the other boat starts moving again at 30ft a round [3 minutes, 6 seconds tops].)
:-)
Jake Friday May 21st, 2004 7:56:50 PM
Jake elbows Trellus in the side, none too gently. "See, ah told ya she liked ya. Now, all ya gotta do is wait till after the battle's over, then catch her alone in the captain's quarters..." Jake's amused smile waits to see Trellus' reaction.
Tishe' d20+8=18 Saturday May 22nd, 2004 3:54:50 AM
Eking out every knot from the GrassSwift is hard work, and Tishe' keeps looking for more ways to go faster. "Oh, piggies! If only I could find a spell to bring wind to the sails..."
The small woman gauges distances and speeds, wondering if they will be able to overtake the raiders barge.
Flea Sunday May 23rd, 2004 8:46:07 PM
The rogue takes inventory of her arrows noting that she has 24 of her favourite arrows (the ones from her friend Gilan)* left, while there are 20 of the ordinary ones available.

Mac Monday May 24th, 2004 8:57:20 AM
"Right then!" Mac looks to Trellus and Tishe'. "Just bring 'em to a holt - noo unnecessary carnage." He looks to Gry and adds, "Ye ready?" Mac draws the greataxe and loosens up his shoulders just a little.
Trellus Monday May 24th, 2004 10:21:05 AM
Focused on the other ship, Jake's comment doesn't register for a little while.
The cleric brings Gry and Mac over to the sorceress. "OK, weave that Fly spell," he tells her.
THEN, the young man's eyebrow shoots up as he shoots Jake a look. An easy grin quickly fills his face. "As long as you're on board," he replies teasingly to the fighter, "I doubt I'd ever find her alone."
DM George "Flirting" Monday May 24th, 2004 10:28:54 AM
Trina looks over at Trellus and says, "Well, a couple of things have to happen first. You have to untie my hands and then return my spell components to me. I can not weave spells with my hands bound or without my components."
She looks up at Trellus with a pouty little smile and batts her eyelashes at him.
Gilan - HP: 43, AC: 14 d3=1(ignore:did not even push) Monday May 24th, 2004 5:34:47 PM
Gilan stumbles a little as he lands a little wrong on his feet. Moving a little he finds that he only lightly sprained it and it will cause him little trouble.
Gilan watches as the ship starts to pull away and wonders if it will have any luck outrunning the SwiftGrass. With a shrug of his shoulders he calls upon the powers of the Wold Mother and grins as a deluge of water splashes all over one of the men steering the ship. "Hope you like the insects." He laughs as he keeps up with the ship.
Grymash Monday May 24th, 2004 10:30:38 PM
Grymash pulls out a dagger and hands it to Trellus. "Here, cut her ropes." Grymash then holds his axe in a threatening manner toward the witch. If Gry not feelin' like me flyin' when yooz start weavin' da magik, Gry will lob off ya head wit me axe. No be castin' wrong magik!"
(Readying an Action: If she casts a spell other than Fly, Grymash will strike.)
DM George "Insults" d100=8 Monday May 24th, 2004 10:45:18 PM
Trina will rub her wrists and take her components and then snarl at Grymash, "You stupid beast. You couldn't tell if I was casting a fireball or a fly spell."
Trina then pulls out some components and starts casting a spell. Mac starts to feel light on his feet. Grymash soon follows. "I keep my agreements, lets see if you are honorable enough to keep yours." she adds with a sneer.
Gilan casts his water spell and suddenly the grasses around him start stirring. Hundreds of flying insects seem to be flying up onto the deck and he can hear screaming from above.
Suddenly a swift and strong breeze start to pick up and in the distance the fire seems to flare back up and starts to spread towards the Raiders ship. Smoke starts to bellow and flames start to crackle.
Mac Tuesday May 25th, 2004 12:40:42 AM
"Thank ye Trina" says the taur. "Gry, catch me up." He pauses before getting away and asks, "How long will this flyin' last?". Once he has an answer he is happy with he heads out over the edge of the ship and in pursuit of the raiders.
Tishe' d20+11=15 d20+8=18 Tuesday May 25th, 2004 3:12:13 AM
The conjurer carefully watches the spell preparations of Trina. (I can tell, she thinks to herself, and Gry isn't the dumb beast the sorceress thinks, either) (Spellcraft: 15) Satisfied she is staying shady, the plain-faced woman concentrates on sailing the ship.
The flare of fire ahead has Tishe' worried, but she keeps her warp down and provides calm direction (Sailing: 18)
The brown haired girl is oblivious to Jake and Trellus' byplay.
"Show them the light, Mac and Gry!"
Trellus Tuesday May 25th, 2004 8:33:27 AM
Trellus looks out at the other ship. Something is going on out there.
"Careful dudes!" he calls to the two fighters. "Just slow 'em down till we get there. And remember there's a prisoner on board!"
As the two depart, he turns back to Trina. "Thanks. But I don't trust you just yet." He glances at Flea. "Tie her back up," he says.
Jake Tuesday May 25th, 2004 8:59:58 AM
Getting out his bow and some arrows, Jake takes a position near the front of the ship, ready to open fire when they get into range, though he doubts it will be very necessary.
Grymash d20-2=7 Tuesday May 25th, 2004 11:38:05 AM
Grymash lowers his axe after the spell activates properly. He turns to Mac and says, "Gry think (Intelligence check 7) dat she say magik lasts, uh, eleventeen minutes!? If Mac ready, Gry ready too!"
The half-orc looks to Trina and says, "Yoouz talk tough for uh girlie dat was squealin' like uh baby piggie, dat been squeezed out by it momma, just yesturday!!" Grymash turns away with a big satisfying grin on his face, thinking his remark was about the funniest thing he had ever said. If no others have any enchantments for the two warriors, Gry will take off for the other boat.
(Double Move, 120 feet)
Flea d20+4=16 Tuesday May 25th, 2004 4:08:29 PM
The rogue answers Trellus' call, and scrambles down from the main mast. Taking up the regular rope that previously bound the mage, she knots it about the woman's wrists, and then wraps it about her waist then winds it about the base of the mast. (Use Rope=16)
When she is done, she holds her waterskin up to the woman's mouth so that she can take a drink.*

DM George d100=24 Tuesday May 25th, 2004 6:38:11 PM
Mac and Grymash take off and start flying towards the ship. They have to pass near the fire which seems to be spreading and growing in intensity even more as the winds keep blowing. The flames are spreading quickly and racing towards both ships. OOC both make fortitude checks dc 15 vs con
It will take several minutes to get to their destination but they are travelling as quickly as they can.
Flea climbs down from the mast and goes to tie Trina up but finds her missing. Flea does a quick search but can't find her. She hears Trina's voice, "I have been playing it straight with you since my capture. I will still keep doing so, but refuse to be tied up again. If you insist on trying, I will defend myself. You wouldn't like that."
When Flea turns around to locate the voice, she still can't see Trina.
Gilan - HP: 43, AC: 14 Tuesday May 25th, 2004 7:00:03 PM
Gilan mutters under his breath as the fires start to be pushed further into thier rapture by the winds. With a muttered curse he feels the forces of nature flow through him as he concentrates on yet another spell. He cannot help but think that he is making great use of his spells, as long as it is enough.
Looking to the fire elemental that crackles into exhistance he keeps his tone neutral as he speak. "Great One of flame...I ask a boon favor of you...please quell these flames that threaten the plains." With a last nod to the elemental he speaks again. "This one task I ask only and then you can return to your home..." Looking to the ship he smiles again. "or you could burn the sails of this ship for a little fun, just try to control the flames that may hit the plains again." He figures with the idea of fun for the elemental and the chance to burn something it may help him out. "Or could you somehow command the flames towards the ship and then onto it?"
[burn Barkskin for Summon Nature's Ally II - fire elemental] [Speak W/Animals]
Tishe' d20+8=27 Wednesday May 26th, 2004 1:01:20 AM
Tishe' pulls at a stray lock of wavy brown hair as she guides the GrassSwift around the fires, and upwind of the enemy barge. (Sailing: 27) "Captain! Please take over for my pack will need my skills!" She is still clothed only in her loose trousers and halter, but, she reflects, wizards don't need armor.
A fact which is admirably demonstrated by Trina, as she used her moment to turn invisible. Tishe' thinks hard, and calls to Trellus and the nearby Trina. "Getting her cooperation at this point in the battle is more important than ensuring her enmity, Trellus. Perhaps she has a solution that would ensure our security and her freedom at the same time?"
Jake Wednesday May 26th, 2004 3:54:17 AM
"Ah hope this is easier than last time," Jake mumbles, staring into the distance.
Mac d20+8=24 Wednesday May 26th, 2004 9:53:14 AM
Fort Save: 24
The dark taur keeps a pace with Gry. "Slow 'em doon. Aye! What were that 'bout a prisoner?" He reaches into the backpack and grabs the only full flask. "For landing... hard!" he replies to Gry.
Grymash (Fly) d20+10=22 Wednesday May 26th, 2004 11:12:54 AM
Gry turns to Mac with a bewildered expression. "Yooz be talkin' funny. Wut yooz say... 'show'em ... doom'!?" The barbarian's eyes widen with excitement! "YEAH, Weez show'em DOOMMM!" Grymash gives Mac a big toothy grin as he nods. However, he instantly calms down when he sees the flask. "Hey, wut is dat?"

DM George "Getting a trifle hot around here" d100=4 Wednesday May 26th, 2004 4:26:50 PM
The wind around the plains whips up even further and now several acres are quickly on fire. Thick smoke is billowing up and the fire is starting to cause its own breeze as it sucks in oxygen.
The Captain of the Grass Swift turns the ship away from both the raider's ship and the fire. "If we go in there, we might never get out! That ship is in real trouble. You should call your friends back. They might die of the smoke if they aren't careful.
The elemental seems to be in his glory as he attacks the new rigging. It quickly sparks up and goes to flame much to the horror of the crew, who see their deaths coming.
Gilan notices many more animals and insects suddenly around him as they flee the fires and he realizes his own danger as the flames race towards his position. Mainly he notices Praire Swallows but is surprised and scared by a Rapke as it rushes by. The smoke is getting thicker and Gilan needs to make a saving throw dc 15 vs con or suffer some ill effects.
Mac and Grymash race towards the ship and travel around halfway there, but are put off by the smoke and burning embers flying by them. They also must make a fort save dc 20 or suffer some ill effects.
OOC so you understand what I am rolling. When I roll the 100 sided die, I am rolling for conditions for the fire to spread. Anything under 25, means the fire grows. The rolls haven't been going your way, and the fire has been growing very rapidly
Anuk Wednesday May 26th, 2004 7:50:18 PM
Anuk jerks as he suddenly wakes. His head is sore and he is disoriented. The sun seems far away, sunlight coming at him in thin stripes. He squints, trying to make sense of where he is...what's going on. His head pounds with the effort.
Grass...light...I'm in the grass...what happened? He tries to kneel, but collapses back to the desert floor. Musta fallen off the boat somehow. H-how'd that happen?
He rolls over and looks up toward the sky. With his left hand he feels a lump on the crown of his head. It's big. And painful. He wonders where the others are...how they're doing...how long he's been here. The last thing he can recall is smoke on the horizon. He sends out a heart touch, hoping to feel something in return.
Well...gonna be a long walk home, he thinks. At least, it will be when I've got the strength. And with that thought, he blacks out again.
(ooc: hey everyone...my apologies for disappearing suddenly. Life kinda came down hard on me recently and I will be taking a couple of months away while I regroup. I hope to be able to return to the game at a suitable time. You guys are great...Bloodpack rules! See you in a while... --MikeS :-)
Flea Wednesday May 26th, 2004 9:41:02 PM
The rogue looks around where'd she go? she thinks, the rope hanging in a jumbled mess from her hands she was here just a minute ago?
Fearing to report the loss of the female mage to Trellus, and seeing that things are going from bad to worse, on the ship, Flea retreats to the side farthest away from the fires. She tries to take note of her friends, Mac and Gry going after the enemy ship, Gillan on the plains weaving fire spells, Tishe', Trellus and Jake on deck waiting for their chance to attack, and 'Nuk...where's 'Nuk?
'Nuk! Where are you! 'Nuk! Noooooo!
Grymash (ac19 hp57, fly) d20+10=30 d20+7=23 d20+2=13 d20+5=21 Wednesday May 26th, 2004 10:24:11 PM
Grymash coughs at the billowing smoke. (Fort save 30, nat. 20) But he doesnt allow it slow him down. The half-orc from his vantage point can see the fury of the fires. "Mac, lets go higher. Dis gettin' too sun-bakin' hot!" (Survival check 23) Grymash has to yell, the roar of the fire is deafening. The winds are whipping the flames into little cyclones in the tall grass. The heat is intense. Waves of heated air rise and distort the shape of the bandits boat. They're on fire as well, and that gives Grymash a big smile, until he remembers that Gilan caught in it too.
Grymash yells, "Hey, Mac! Dis be too hot! Gilan be down in dat! Weez need ta find Gilan too!" Grymash continues full speed forward (120-ft). He yells, "GILAN, GILAN!" Grymash sends out a heart touch as he continues on over the tempest of flame. (Spot 13, Listen 21)
Tishe' Thursday May 27th, 2004 12:14:00 AM
With the GrassSwift angling away from the fire, they won't get to the enemy immediately (If at all, she wonders). It does give time for Tishe' to run down the hatch and retrieve her weapons and equipment.
Gilan - HP: 43, AC: 14 d20+3=10 d20+2=6 Thursday May 27th, 2004 12:32:35 AM
Gilan coughs and sputters in the smoke as he rubs at his eyes. He looks around at the spreading fire and curses under his breath. With a look at the enemy ship he can just barely see the elemental on deck.
Summoning up as much will as he can he yells to the elemental. "Fireborn...your aid has been very helpful. Now go back to your realm of fire and rest easy." He sucks in another breath of smoke and falls into coughing fits again. He thinks that he hears someone calling his name but he is losing his bearings to the smoke.
[burn Barkskin for Summon Nature's Ally II - fire elemental]
[Edited by Me: Just found out that the fire elemental cannot control or put out fire so changed my post to reflect that. Figured this is information that my character would know for obvious reasons.]
Jake Thursday May 27th, 2004 6:09:23 AM
Leaning over the edge, Jake yells after Grymash and Mac, "Get Gilan and get back here, quick!" Then, Jake looks confused at this mess. Gry and that minotaur gone after Gilan, the captain saying they can't go any farther, and now Anuk's gone...it's all confusing. He goes over to the captain. "Don't get us too close, ah agree...but we've gotta get Gry and the others when they come back."
Trellus d20+8=15 Thursday May 27th, 2004 9:21:20 AM
With the fire problem, Trina's issues don't seem all that important.
"Fine," he snaps at her. "Stay untied."
Trellus turns back to the fire. He can probably create a wind break some 50' long, and tries to figure out both the wind direction, the width of the fire, and the range needed to get a wind wall on the downwind side of the fire. [Thinking about wind wall - range 150']
"Do the best you can," he replies to the Captain.
The cleric continues to look for Gilan. [Spot 15]
Machesthai d20+8=27 d20+4=17 d20+1=18 Thursday May 27th, 2004 9:52:11 AM
Mac thinks back to what Gry called things earlier. "Grow Big Potion - just incase!" The smoke and heat bothers Mac little [Fort save: 27] - growing up around the forge has some benefits! He keeps pace with Gry whilst keeping an eye [Spot check: 17] and an ear [Listen check: 18] out for Gilan.
DM George d100=100 d100=96 Thursday May 27th, 2004 2:29:41 PM
Mac and Grymash arrive near the boat and can land next round. They might be fearful to do so as the ship is well on fire. Between the elemental and the grass fires having caught up to the ship, the ship is well ablaze and the crew is abandoning ship. They can see the captain on the deck holding a young looking woman, who is cupping something in her hands very protectively.
The Captain's eyes grow wide with the appearance of Grymash and Mac and he draws his sword and seems to be threatening the girl.
Mac does spot Gilan on his hands and knees coughing and rubbing at his eyes. The flames are only feet away from him now and he looks to be in great danger.
The winds are whipping the grasses back and forth as gusts push the Grass Swift around. The crew looks up in amazement to see the sky changing. Huge billowing clouds roll in and lightning can be seen dancing from cloud to cloud.
Trellus is surprised when he feels something hit his face. He reaches up and feels a bead of water rolling down his cheek.
The Captain walks over and says, "I don't think any rain is going to save that ship or your friends. The winds are really pushing that fire along."
Gilan, Mac, and Grymash need to make another fort save dc 18 vs or experience smoke problems.

(Fort save 22)
Grymash halts his advance when he sees the captain grappling with the female. He quickly hangs his double axe on his shoulder harness and takes his bow. He draws an arrow from his quiver and begins to mutter words of power. The arrow begins to slightly glow. (Casting True Strike)
Grymash yells over the roar of wind and flame. "LET HER GO ... NOW! ME UH EYE OF GARGUL. YOOZ WILL DIE DIS DAY. GARGUL IS WATCHIN', JUDGEIN' YUR DARK DEEDS. DONT MAKE YA TORMENTS, IN DA AFTERDEATH, MORE GREAT BY KILLIN' HER!!" Grymash takes the arrow and pulls it back on his bow, ready to fire. With the power of his magik, he can see hints and possiblities of what will happen with his next shot. Grymash silently sends out another heart touch for Gilan.
(Attempting a called shot this next turn. Aiming for his eye socket. Give me whatever penalty you see fit.)

The small woman rushes to the side of the ship closest to the blaze. Not being able to stop the fire, she quickly loads her crossbow (Quick Reload Feat) and is ready for any danger.
Gilan - HP: 43, AC: 14 d20+3=21 Thursday May 27th, 2004 7:55:34 PM
Gilan wipes away the tears that are stinging his eyes from the smoke and gets his lungs cleaned out to a point. He feels the heart touch and returns it, though softer than he had planned.
His eyes blaze with anger, at himself and the situation, as he takes in the fires not too far away from him. "Blast my hide...I endangered the whole mission." He continues to curse as he scans the area for a means of escape.
Gilan scans the skies as he tries to think of a way out of this mess. He glances to the enemy ship and then shrugs as he runs towards it. He will find a way up it as fast as he can, if he can reach it. He sends out another heart touch to Gry but with a little more urgency behind it.
Sorry Gilan, I am not going to allow you to summon a water elemental. I believe you have to summon it form some sort of water or have a water sourse to summon it from. If you would like to repost I will give you until tonight, otherwise the spell is gonna fail
[Updated as DM has allowed it.]
Mac d20-1=15 d20+8=21 Friday May 28th, 2004 3:24:55 AM
"DROP... YOUR... SWORD!" Mac commands the captain. [Intimidate check: 15 +4 (size difference) = 19] Taking care not to cross through Gry's line of sight, the taur drifts towards a section of deck not currently alight.
[Fort Save: 21]
Trellus d20+8=26 Friday May 28th, 2004 8:54:40 AM
The cleric frowns in confusion as he looks to the sky. Water?!? Is Gilan crazy? Trellus instinctively assumes that somehow his druid friend is causing the effect. After all, there's no other way water could fall from the sky.
He barely hears the captain as he continues to look for Gilan.
[Spot check 26 to find Gilan]
Then, he turns back to the fire, and tries to figure out a way to contain it.
[Is the fire less than 50' wide? Can Trellus cast a spell effect on the downwind side of the fire if his spell range is 150'?]
The ship is never going to be close enough for a range spell of 150' and the fire covers several acres of grasslands at this point and is spreading fast in the wind.
DM George "Rain on the Plains!" d20+6=19 d20+4=23 d20+1=21 d20+4=7 2d6(6+6)=12 d100=96 Saturday May 29th, 2004 10:21:01 PM
The scene: The raiders ship is on fire and most of the crew are trying to abandon ship. Many of them are catching flame from the ship and grasses around it. Several are succumbing to the smoke and collapsing only to be consumed by the flames. The grasses around the flame is also on fire and Gilan is in the middle of it.
The Captain is holding the girl and both he and the young women seem unaffected by the smoke or flames. The Captain hears Mac yelling at him but seems unaffected by the minotaur's intimidation. Distance could be playing a role in that as well as the situation. The Captain take a swing at the girl but misses badly do to all the distractions.
Grymash puts his axe away and pulls out his bow and draws an arrow. He will not have time to cast the spell as both putting away a weapon and drawing a weapon take up both his actions for this round. He can still try his called shot but will get -8 to attempt it (-4 for shooting while he holds the girl, and -4 for his called shot.)
He feel Gilan's heart touch and senses the druid is in trouble.
Gilan rushes towards the ship and closer to the flames. Suddenly a gust of wind blows flaming grasses down upon him scorching him and setting his clothes on fire. He takes 12 points of damage and screams in pain.
An amazing downpouring of rain suddenly hits both ships and the plains around them. Lightning flashes across the skies. The fires are slowed but still raging pretty strongly as the wind gushes and pushes them around.
The folks on the GrassSwift can hear screams of pain and agony, but between the smoke, rain, and fires can't see much from where they are.

Grymash speaks his words of power and the arrow begins to glow. (Casting True Strike.) Since the magik he casts doesnt require any somatic components, Gry doesnt drop his bow and keeps the arrow tightly pulled back. "Weez can make dis easy or sun-dried hard. Eithur way, yooz be dyin' dis day! Gargul demands it. Yur dark deeds muss be paid wit yur blood! Yooz lost dis day. Better ta die by me arrow than by da fire. Yooz not gettin away!"
(If you choose to allow! Since all he has to do is release his grip on the bow string and let go of the arrow, would you allow it to be shot as a move-equivalent action. With -8 penalty he hits AC 27. 9 points of damage. You decide whatever damage modifer you see fit. Even if it only stuns the captain with pain. Whatever it takes to kill him or let the girl go.)

Tishe' Monday May 31st, 2004 11:17:58 AM
The small woman whips her head between the burning enemy boat, the pitiful screams of the trapped crew, and Trellus talking about the rain.
"I don't know if it is usual or not, but the rain is helping to put out the fire, and for that, I'm glad!"
Gilan - HP: 31/43, AC: 14 d20+6=9 d20+2=20 d20+2=10 Monday May 31st, 2004 4:43:05 PM
Gilan grits his teeth under the sudden pain of getting caught on fire. He takes a chance to drop and roll to smother the fire while avoiding the rest of the flames. With all the action going on around him and the fact that he is on fire he does not hear Mac calling.
He is screaming himself and sends out another heart touch to the whole group this time. He can see that things are getting desperate and he silently hopes that the rain will help him out. He gets out the words for a spell, but is not sure about his control on the spell. It had been more of a snatch and force into the form he wanted. He casts his light spell on his shield, hoping it will aid in the pack finding him.
DM George d100=48 2d6(6+5)=11 Monday May 31st, 2004 9:11:38 PM
The storm still rages sending high winds and heavy rains onto the plains. Creatures and insects both rise up to recieve this unexpected bounty, but also shy away from the flames. They are very torn with the desire to get to the water and not burn to death.
The fire rages still but hissing can be heard from the fire as the water starts to extingish it.
Grymash casts his true strike spell but can't fire until next round. He takes careful aim only to have it spoiled when the Captain and the girl are buried in flaming rigging and masts that are collasping from above. Grymash can hear both scream in both terror and pain.
Mac spots Gilan even before the druid casts his light spell and is horrified to see his friend rolling around on the ground in burning grasses trying to extingish himself.
Gilan rolls on the ground trying desperately put out his flames as he screams in pain. Somehow he manages to cast a light spell through the pain. Everyone feels his hearttouch and sense his fear and agony. Gilan takes another 11 points of fire damage.
The Captain of the Grass Swift angles the boat in towards the other ship trying to cut the distance and takes advantage of the winds, which push the ship swiftly. He yells to Jake and Tishe, "Let me know if we get to a bald spot! We can't fall in it. If we do we will be stuck! Then we will all die."
Mac, Gilan and Grymash need to make fort saves dc 20 or take smoke damage 1d6
Everyone else needs a dc 15
Flea d20+3=18 Tuesday June 1st, 2004 12:08:22 AM
Flea pulls her cloak high up over her nose and mouth and thus avoids the worst of the smoke and heat. She senses Gilan's distress and sends a heart touch in return by way of encouragement. She attaches her silk rope to the side of the boat and tosses it over the side hoping the druid will be able to use it to climb aboard. [+2 to climb checks w/ silk rope]
Grymash (ac17 hp57 / 67 with rage, fly, RAGE, true strike) d20+12=22 d20+7=19 Tuesday June 1st, 2004 12:19:37 AM
The eyes of the barbarian grow wide with shock as the mast falls down on both the captain and the girl. "NOOOOOO!!!" roars Grymash. It was all too much. Gilan in trouble. The fire! The rain! The hysterical shrills of the dying! The smell of burning flesh! His rage reacts as his fragile mind sinks into an abyss of sensory overload. (Rage. Fort save 22 against smoke)
Casting his bow and arrow aside (free action), Grymash races toward the two as they lay beneath a burning timber. The barbarian's adrenaline rush numbs the searing pain from the flames. He feels no pain. Only one single thought remains, save the girl. Grymash grabs the fallen mast with both his huge arms and attempts to lift it from the girl and move it far enough to free her. The flames lick his flesh and still he pushes harder.
(Strength check 19, burning a hero point to add +2 to the roll for a total of 21. His strength is now 25, he can lift a max weight of 1,600 pounds. He can drag or push 3,200 pounds.)
How many hero points do you have left. You have been using them quite frequently. Just curious.....George
Tishe' d20+3=23 d20+1=12 Tuesday June 1st, 2004 2:20:40 AM
The Captain shouts to watch for bare patches as the smoke from the fire billows across the deck. Tishe' is engulfed in a acrid cloud, but her sense of purpose is strong (Fort: nat 20!)
She puts the scarlet kerchief that Grymash gave her over her mouth and places herself on the starboard side, motioning Jake to the port. "Didn't think of that!", she yells over the crackling flames. "If there isn't grass, the 'Swift won't move and the fire will have us! You check that side!"
And the small woman turns to scan the starboard side for any 'holes' in the ocean of grass. (Spot: 12) She keeps her crossbow ready in case of any animals are trying to get away from the fire (or at the water) by climbing the 'Swift.
Mac d20+8=21 Tuesday June 1st, 2004 3:08:20 AM
Mac takes one huge, last gulp of fresher air [Fort Save: 21] and dives down after Gilan. Given the opportunity he will grab Gilan by a lesser burned part (under one arm seems appropriate) and, muttering "This'll hurt." drift upwards and away from the smoke, patting anything still alight with his free hand.
Trellus d20+6=14 Tuesday June 1st, 2004 8:32:54 AM
The smoke is overpowering. [Failed Fort check - 14]
Trellus feels Gilan's heart touch, as well as Flea's response. He sends his own back to his friend. The cleric coughs, and hacks, and grinds his teeth in frustration. His friends are in trouble and he can do nothing.
The rain, which should be a stunning development, is completely ignored as the young man searches fruitlessly through the smoke for his friends.
Gilan - HP: 14/43, AC: 14 d20+3=13 d6=6 Tuesday June 1st, 2004 6:11:37 PM
Gilan sucks in another lungful of smoke and falls into a coughing fit as he lays on his belly. The light from his shield on his pack is a good beacon but he would not know it at this time.
Suddenly he feels a heart touch from Flea and Trellus. He takes some heart and reaches out to them in desperation, though they are not there. "Wold Mother...if it is my time see that my friends get away." He almost feels as it he is reaching for the sky as he blindly flails his arm in the air. He returning heart touch is weaker than his last, but one of peace in ones purpose. They had reached the enemy ship and they would save the druidess, that was all that mattered. Rattledam would be safe, even though he had to destroy so much to do it.
DM George "Rescues" 2d6(2+2)=4 d6=3 2d6(4+1)=5 d6=3 Tuesday June 1st, 2004 10:23:14 PM
Grymash with a cry of rage attacks the fallen rigging and rips it away from the girl. He sees her lying unconcious on the ground, with a piece of burning mast protruding from her stomach. She seems to be clutching something in her hand. Grymash takes 5 points of fire damage.
He can see the Captain thrashing around on the ground engulfed in flames. Suddenly the Captain lies still, as his skin blackens.
The rain continues to pour down and the fires on the plains seemed to be diminishing quickly but the raider's ship is a total lose as it blunders into a fire cleared spot and crashes to the ground.
Mac soars down and scoops the coughing and hacking Gilan up in his arms. Gilan screams in pain as Mac does this, but Mac lifts him from the fires and starts putting him out. Gilan takes another 4 points of damage from the flames and 3 points of damage from Mac scooping him up for a total of 7. Mac takes 3 points of damage from scooping up an on fire person.
Flea looks on in horror but something else catches her eye. She sees a lot of thrashing on the plains and then realizes the storm is somewhat local. Creatures from all over smell the water and are hurrying towards it. She sees Rapke and bounders heading towards the storm and clouds of insects.
Trellus doesn't see much as he is trying to catch his breath.
Grymash (ac18 hp52, fly) d8+1=9 d20+4=12 d20+2=14 Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 1:42:18 AM
Grymash instantly calms from his rage after his over-exertion produced the desired results. He pulls the final piece of mast from her stomach and casts his healing magic. (Spontaneously Casting: Cure Light Wounds. Woot, 9 points of healing.)
Grymash grabs hold of her, being careful not to drop what she has clasped in her hand (Move-equivalent action, Str check 12, Dex check 14). As the ship falls into a hole in the grass, he remains hovering in place. Thanks to the fly spell.
The rain pours across down his face. He finally realizes what the wet feeling is. He turns his head to blow water from his snout. The water feels good against his burnt skin. He stares down into the face of the young girl and looks for signs of life stiring within her. Grymash can feel everyone's heart touches. It creates a calming affect over the barbarian cleric. He mumbles through the rainwater, in a soft deep voice, "Hey yooz! Yooz be livin'?"
Tishe' Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 1:53:55 AM
Searching the starboard side, the small woman keeps watch to ensure the GrassSwift doesn't fall to the fate of the enemy ship. Her heart soars as she sees both Grymash and Mac emerge from the flames alive and both with a person-shaped bundle.
Wringing water from her brown pony tail, she (assumedly) hears Flea's shout of warning from the mast about the oncoming horde of rapkes and bounders. Composed, she turns to the Captain. "I suggest we start moving away."
And then she turns back with her crossbow.
Mac (AC:17?, HP: 45/48, Fly) Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 5:06:13 AM
Rushing as carefully as he can, Mac makes for his ship. "Speak o' the creatures down in the grass. Keep talkin' 'til we get you back t' the ship. You did good work - now we just have t' put you back in less burnt stuff."
Flea d20+11=24 Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 12:21:13 PM
Pointing a finger at the approaching plains wildlife, Flea cries out in horror, "by Domi, but we'll be pig-meat if we're not careful!" The rogue looks about, then yells again, "up on the boat! Get everyone up off the plains!" The gnome strings her bow and knocks an arrow scanning through the shimmer caused by the heat from the fire for any signs that her pack-mates might be under attack. (Search=11)
Flea will provide cover in the event of an attack.
Trellus Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 1:52:05 PM
The young, blond cleric spends the next several moments on his hands and knees on the deck of the Grass Swift.
Tears flow from his eyes as he tries to cough out the lungful of black smoke he inhaled seconds earlier.
Catching his breath in great gasps of air, Trellus slowly rises and tries to figure out what's been going on while he was busy trying to breathe.
Gilan - HP: 26/43, AC: 14 d20+2=5 2d8(6+8)+5=19 Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 2:08:57 PM
Gilan looks to Mac with drooping eyes and gives a weak smile to him. The pain is starting to subside a little but it is still painful on him to be held this way. "To...the...Swift...Grass....please...Mac."The last few minutes of his ordeal has put a serious round of hurts on him and he is feeling close to falling into the blackness.
Fighting back the pain he finds himself coughing again and when it ends he falls into the powers of nature. He is not so sure if he can handle it at this time but he knows that he must try or possibly perish here and now. He mumbles under his breathe as he touches his chest lightly and winces.

Temp ADM Carla "Escape from the Maelstrom" Thursday June 3rd, 2004 9:17:53 PM
Plumes flare up in places as fuel is consumed in the hungry wake of the fire. Flying monstrosities appear ominously through the clouds of billowing smoke as first Mac and then Grymash make their appearance, each flying rescuer bearing the tormented remains of a victim rescued from the plains.
Mac is first to approach the Grass Swift . The 'taur gently deposits the almost unrecognizable form of the Blood pack's druid, Gilan, on deck at the feet of a dazed and coughing Trellus. He is following by a surprisingly calm Grymash bearing the remains of a young woman, blood oozing from a horrific abdominal wound, who miraculously maintains a death-grasp upon some object hidden by her fair, now blood stained hands.
Jake spots a bare bit of ground and calls out to the captain. There is a horrible grinding sound as the ship momentarily bottoms out (Reflex Save 15 or be dashed to the deck), but the captain is able to steer clear of the bald spot and set a new course.
Flea and Tishe' are on guard, but the plains animals are diverted from any rain soaked victims by the fire that still burns to the side of the plains-craft.
A faint heart touch recognizable as belonging to the ranger Anuk is felt by the pack, but it is acknowledged that although he is alive, he is lost to the pack as they sense he is borne away by some unrecognizable power.
Ever so slowly the captain of the Grass Swift is able to steer the barge away from the burning and doomed wreckage of the enemy ship as it up-ends, and disappears into the smoldering grasses the last screams of it's crew muffled by the roar of the all consuming fire.
Gilan - HP: 26/43, AC: 14 Thursday June 3rd, 2004 10:40:13 PM
Gilan at last finds himself upon the deck of the SwiftGrass, though he is very tired. He is able to glance for a few seconds at those that gather nearby, giving a weak smile to Trellus, and then he nods off. His chest slowly rises and falls as he lays on the deck. He does not even notice that the ship suddenly rocks or anything else, there is only one thought in his mind...did he endanger the lives of his friends and how many has he lost.
He has a fleeting thought of the druidess as he dreams also of the burning ship, all agulf in flames. He whimpers in his sleep and then he is laying in the grasses of Rattledam, beside Kaili and he feels peace.
Tishe' d20+3=4 Thursday June 3rd, 2004 11:33:26 PM
The small woman is looking in the completely wrong direction when the Grass Swift scrapes across a bare spot and is violently thrown from her feet (Reflex: nat 1)
Not being part of the Circle, the conjurer cannot feel the heart touches of Gilan nor Anuk, but from her dazed sprawl can only stare at the fire and the last blackening body of the enemy sailors. Pity and satisfaction war in her mind, for though they but reaped what they had sown, it is a horrific way to die.
Trellus d20+1=19 2d8(7+2)+3=12 Friday June 4th, 2004 8:56:09 AM
The blond cleric rises from the deck of the ship to see Gilan and Mac come in. "Light, Gilan," he says softly as he rushes to his friend, "I said 'slow them down', not 'burn them down'".
He pulls out a wand and taps the sleeping druid with it. [Cure Moderate Wounds - 12 hp healed]
Some instinct must have warned him, because the normally clumsy cleric manages to keep his feet when the Grass Swift shifts suddenly. [Reflex 19]
Trellus takes in the burning wreck of the other ship with a sigh. You weave it, you wear it. His mother's favorite admonition works its way into his memory.
"Captian, let's go to that camp you mentioned and drop these two off. Then, we're going home."
The young man turns back to his friend, checking if his wounds are all healed.
Grymash d20+7=14 d8+1=5 Friday June 4th, 2004 12:13:44 PM
Grymash finally makes it back to the GrassSwift and he gently lays the girl down on the deck. The charred black and runny ash that covers most of his body also stains the girl as he tries to check her vitals to see if she's still alive (Heal check 14). Without thinking about if he felt a pulse are not, Grymash sends another healing burst into the girl, right over her wound. (Spontaneously Casting: Cure Light Wounds. 5 points of healing)
"Come on Girly ... wake up! Yooz be livin'!", demands the half-orc.
Flea d20+8=22 Friday June 4th, 2004 6:52:36 PM
Flea lowers her bow and arrow, and watches in gapped mouth terror as the enemy ship goes down in flames. As Mac deposits his precious human cargo on deck, Flea rushes over, managing to stay upright despite the rocking of the ship (Reflex Save=22).
"Oh Gilan! What have you done!" she says, staring down at the charred body of the druid, tears welling in her eyes. "Somebody, please help him" she cries in anguish.
Clasping one hand close to her chest, and covering it with the other, she bows her head, "Talki fresal, dondit liki" she murmurs as she sends out the secret signal, "the land, my life."
Gilan - HP: 38/43, AC: 14 Saturday June 5th, 2004 9:05:54 PM
Gilan feels another sudden rush of energy enter his body and he gently moans as he comes around. His skin has started to take on a slightly pinkinsh tone from all the healing, except for a six inch patch of skin on his right shoulder. It has retained its burnt lizard skin appearance from his ordeal and it is most likely to stay that way.
Letting his eyes flutter open he closes them slowly to the light and coughs. "Did we make it...everyone I mean." He glances around the ship but is unable to locate all the Bloodpack. Looking down at himself he cannot help but swallow hard. His cloak, gloves, boots and pants are ruined by the fire and smoke that he had caused. "Seems I am a mess." He returns the heart touch to Flea and gives a smile. "Hope you don't mind if I hang around for awhile." He glances around for his pack that he had left with the group, thinking that maybe new clothes would be in order. "I could use something to drink...maybe a bite to eat as well." He lays back as he waits to see what happens.
Then it hits him and he sits bolt upright. "Tiev and Zilia...where are they??" Panic rises in his voice as he looks around for them and it is evident that he will not relax till he knows something. "Wold Mother..please... no.." He is unable to end the sentence as if saying it will make it so.
Mac d20+4=16 Sunday June 6th, 2004 10:22:00 AM

Tishe' and Trellus contemplate the fate of the enemy ship and its occupants when the Grass Swift hits the edges of a bald spot. The curly haired first mate rights herself, while the cleric hastens to tend the pack's druid. Flea and Mac look on and fret over Gilan's state. Trina becomes visible once again, and stands over Trellus watching what he does for Gilan. The sassy Halfling, Driblin stands at the rail, watching the smoke from the ruined baron ship become a smudge on the horizon. The sun hangs low in the sky, heavy and red tinged.
Grymash tries his utmost, but the girl is unresponsive. The young woman he hoped to save has heeded the call of Gargul, and started a voyage that will take her into another realm of existence.
The captain of the Grass Swift frowns at the mention of seeking out a camp for the captured mercenaries. "See here," he says, "I'll not be goin' near any baron camp!" As the wind picks up, he turns to his remaining crew and shouts orders, before succumbing to a fit of coughing. The crew responds, scurrying up the rat lines and working to lay the after-yards square and hauling up the courses. "Furl them! Away aloft, and roll'em up, boys!" continues the captain. Then, after the men have descended as quickly as they had got up he adds, "a tote of glass grass juice for all hands," he eyes Mac and Grymash, before adding, "'an two for the big'uns."

As Gilan calls for his wasps, Trellus can only shake his head helplessly. He never saw them. He never saw much of anything, really.

(OOC: DM George-did the attendance tonight and sent to players and Al. Would you like me to continue until you have an ADM?)
that would be great! thanks
Grymash Monday June 7th, 2004 7:19:08 PM
Grymash realizes he is staring down upon the face of death. If her eyes are still open, he gently runs his fingers over to close them. He arranges her arms and legs in a more dignifed pose. He notices something clutched in her hands. Grymash tries to loosen her grip to see what it is. All the while, he mutters scripture in his orc tongue. He wishes not to tarnish the words of Gargul with his broken common.
Grymash looks inward and asks Gargul, "Ohh Gargul, please tell me her name."
Tiev and Zilia Monday June 7th, 2004 7:39:44 PM
Two tiny shining insects trail after the ship. They do not come too close, nor do they stray far from it's wake.
DM George Monday June 7th, 2004 10:29:39 PM
Grymash holds a pretty but teenaged girl in his arms. She is just a slip of a girl but has potential for great beauty. As he holds her and sends his healing energies into her young form, her eyes open and she gasps in a breath.
"I heard you calling me." she whispers. "Thank you for bringing me back. You have one of the kindest souls I have ever seen." She then leans in and administers a kiss that seems much beyond her years.
Tina smiles at Trishe and says, "No, I don't think so. Your people would never truly trust me. That's ok. I am not that trustworthy. I just want to head back to civilization. I would appreciate that letter of recomendation though. Gonna have to earn a stake. Losing all my magic items stings but to the victors go the spoils."
As Flea talks to the halfling, he replies much in the same way as Trina. "I conducted an act of sabotage against your city and have paid a steep cost. Still I am tempted see Rattledam under less stressful circumstances." He pauses and continues, "No, I will go to this settlement your Captain spoke of. I really don't want to end up in prison.
The Captain sets sail toward the settlement that he spoke of earlier. The fires seem to be dampening down and the rain after pouring for 10 minutes comes to an abrupt halt.
The two wasps eventually land on the ship seeming to be tired from the days activities.
Gilan - HP: 38/43, AC: 14 Monday June 7th, 2004 11:17:57 PM
It had been a grueling ordeal for the young druid and he finds himself slowly getting to his feet. He wobbly makes his way over ot Grymash and looks down upon the druidess. His eyes swell with tears as he looks upon her lifeless body and he suddenly feels an overwhelming sense of despair. "I have killed a fellow druid...an act that I will stand trial for...not only before the Rattledam Council but also the Wold Mother." He slowly sinks to his knees and takes his head in his hands, weeping openly.
Then the girl speaks out to Grymash and his head jerks up. He stares at her for several seconds as she gives a kiss and kind words to Grymash. He stands up quickly and then moves off to the far part of the ship. "The Wold Mother be praised...you to Father of the Dead." He leans on the railing as he watches the dying fires and feels a sudden loneliness, though he is not sure why.
His two wasps land on the deck near where he is standing and he looks to them, smiling. His eyes take on a haunted look as he watches them and then he moves towards them slowly. Taking a seat near them he gently picks both of them up and cradles them in his hands. "My little ones...I endangered you as well as everyone else...I have learned a hard lesson this day." He looks to the others and cannot help but wonder if they will be able to trust him or even if he can trust himself in the future.
Flea Tuesday June 8th, 2004 12:30:27 AM
Flea nods to the halfling, acknowledging that she will press him no further. With a small bow, she takes her leave, and crosses the ship over to where Gilan is slouched. Hunkering down, in a crouch, she gingerly puts a hand on the druid's shoulder.
"You saved us, friend! Almost singlehandedly you killed the barons men! Sunk their ship!" The rogue makes a low whistle, and shakes her head, before adding, "no more playing with fire for a while, though. Okay?"
Flea sits down, legs folded tailor style, "Sterlin's gone again, it seems, and this time 'Nuk's gone too." Looking into the druid's dark eyes, she adds, "that leaves you, me, Gry, Jake, Trellus, and the new ones." Flea looks over her shoulder at Mac and Tishe, then hooks her thumb in their direction, while turning back to Gilan, "figure we ought to teach them the 'heart touch'?" she asks.
Jake Tuesday June 8th, 2004 5:24:55 AM
Jake has somehow managed to avoid seeing most of the stuff that happeneed on the boat, due to his concentration on their own. So, now, he nonchalantly pops over and pipes up, "Great job, y'all. Now, let's shuck these treadlesuckers and get back to Rattledam. Ah 'm thinkin' there's some other thin' to be done, and we're wastin' time dawdlin' about here."
Trellus Tuesday June 8th, 2004 9:09:45 AM
The young blond man places a hand on Gilan's shoulder, and sends him a heart touch. "I'm glad you're OK," he says quietly, and then he's off to see the young girl.
On the way he passes Jake, and can't resist. Pointing out the girl, he grins slyly at the fighter. "You know you just lost another pretty girl? And to Gry of all people. Need to work on your touch, dude."
Chuckling to himself, the cleric reaches Grymash and the girl and squats down to get to her level. "I'm Trellus," he says simply. "He's Grymash. Are you OK? Can you tell us how you ended up a prisoner on that boat?"
Grymash Tuesday June 8th, 2004 4:17:40 PM
Grymash looks down in pure and jaw-dropping shock at the young girl coming to life! He receives the kiss and he still has no compacity for movement. Just a frozen expression etched into his face of disbelief, horror then wonder and joy! He looks up at Trellus. His friend witnesses something most will never see ... a single tear running down his soot-smeared face. The only words Grymash can say is, "My God!!"
The ecstasy and passion he feels for his god is too much for him to bear. Grymash falls faint to the deck. His orcish eyes still wide and beaming as he stares up into the heavens.
Tishe' Tuesday June 8th, 2004 4:45:56 PM
The small woman shrugs and nods. If the two captives want to disappear for a while, that is thier concern. "I'll have a letter for you before Trellus is ready to drop you off."
She then moves over to the growing group by the miraculously recovering druidess. Tishe' is less curious than is her wont, but miracles are Trellus' department, and the conjurer would rather know how things work.
Brushing a lock of wavy hair that refuses to stay in her pony tail, she comes over to Gilan and rests a hand on a sleeve for a moment. "Excellent work, Gilan," and she smiles, "I'm proud to be working with the Bloodpack."
And then Grymash faints.
Tishe' rushes to his side and pats the great head worriedly. "Grymash, are you OK? Trellus, what's wrong with him?"
DM George "Balina" Tuesday June 8th, 2004 9:38:33 PM
The young teenager introduces herself as Balina. She starts to explain that she was travelling to Rattledam with her special acorn when her ship was attacked and captured.
"I thought I was going to die for sure. I thought about killing myself but had to protect my Acorn. Then he showed up, isn't he wonderful!?"
Grymash then falls into his faint and a look of shock crosses her face. " No my beloved! Are you all right!" Balina hurries to his side and cradles his head in her lap and starts stroking his brow. "Please come back to me! I would be so alone without you."
Gilan Tuesday June 8th, 2004 10:32:20 PM
Gilan gives Flea a small smile as he continues to stroke the two little wasps. He takes in a deep breathe and then lets it out. "That it true...but did I go too far...slowing them down might have been enough." He seems conflicted with the act that he has commited, though he has to admit that if he had to do it over...he would not change a thing. With a little bit brighter smile he nods to Flea again. "Deal on the fire." He shivers at the thought of being trapped in a large fire again and burning. It leaves him feeling slightly sick.
Glancing to Trellus as he comes over he cringes in a little as he looks at the blonde cleric. With another sigh of relief he nods to the cleric as well. "Glad I was able to come back to you...I might not have if it was not for Mac there." He thinks for a quick second and then nods his head. "Flea has brought up the idea of initiating Mac and Tishe' into the circle...I cannot disagree with the idea, they have both proven themselves...especially Mac." It seems that the druid has taken a great liking for the big minotaur.
He glances up after a few minutes as a new hand it put on his shoulder to stare into the face of Tishe'. Her words touch him more than she may know and he feels the beginnings of new tears forming. "It has been a pleasure for me as well...you have handled this ship and your part in the fight with equal aplum." He watches as she runs off to see about the now fainted Grymash and he smiles again, then breaks out laughing.
With the druidess's confession he cannot help but smile at his big friend. It would seem that Gry had found something that he would not have expected. He would have figured that the big guy would have figured out by now that druids are fickle creatures, much like nature.
With a last look to his wasps that have taken to sleeping it would seem, he makes his way over to the young druidess. "My name is Gilan and a fellow druid...when Grymash is revived I would like to hear all about your special acorn...if you can talk openly about it." He cannot hide a glimmer in his eye as he speaks. Trees fascinate him and he would love to hear her tales if she would relate them. "That is if you are able and want to." He just hopes that she can forgive him for the fire and her almost death. "I should warn you though that I am the one responsible for the fire...I seek your forgiveness if you find me worthy of it." He bows to her as he waits for a few minutes, he will move away in a few though to give her space.
Tiev and Zilia Tuesday June 8th, 2004 11:32:48 PM
Tiev and Zilia act in a most unusual fashion as they permit the petting. A strange light rumbling sound comes from Tiev, last heard when the Mankife had caressed the striped insect. Tiev sounds like he's purring!
After a while the tired creatures find a place to doze deep in a pocket, hood, or deep fold of the druid's clothing.
Flea d20-1=4 Tuesday June 8th, 2004 11:42:05 PM
The gnome stands up when Gilan rises, a happy smile on her face.
When she sees Gry laid out, and the pretty female crooning over him, a frown creases her brow as she tries to figure what the woman is about. (Sense Motive=4) The gnome senses little as a flicker of jealousy flares in her breast.
Jake Wednesday June 9th, 2004 2:38:39 AM
Jake removes his hat and scratches his head, looking at the unconscious half-orc and the druidess bemusedly. "Ah have no clue what's going on..." he mumbles. Nudging Trellus, he poses, "We got their ship, right, and the problem's over?"
Trellus Wednesday June 9th, 2004 8:56:47 AM
The cleric turns away from Grymash and Balina, his right hand over his mouth as he hides his laughing grin.
"Gry's fine," he chortles at Tishe'. He looks back at the fallen half orc and the druidess, and chuckles again. "He's totally shady," he repeats.
Grinning happily, the man moves to the bow. He's in a great mood. As Jake asks his question, he laughs with joy. "Welcome back," he teases. "Yeah, problem's over. Now we hit some trading village, drop off the treadles, go home, and tell Galafar we saved the town, rescued the druidess, discovered the Baron's plans, and captured a war boat full of druid wood."
He smiles broadly at the thought.
"Then we get to watch his face."
Mac Wednesday June 9th, 2004 10:31:56 AM
"So, let us be 'bout it then!" says Mac, like everyone is actually paying attention to helping the Capt... yeah, Captain get his ship underway.
Tishe' d20+8=27 Wednesday June 9th, 2004 11:45:03 AM
Perhaps thankfully for Gilan, the small conjurer is totally oblivious to any of his conflicting emotions. She dismisses his thanks with an uncomfortable wave, "I really didn't do much. Mac has been so much better than me."
Once Trellus pronounces Grymash is fine, Tishe' is satisfied and gets up. Looks like the girl will help the sweet half-orc. Good. And Tishe' moves to the sound of Mac's voice and attends once again to the ship (Sailing: 27)
DM George Wednesday June 9th, 2004 9:43:58 PM
The ship travels for around a day and you see a small settlement in the distance. You come to a rest at a common dock, and the Captain expertly brings the ship to a stop. The crewmembers with some aid from Tishe tie off the ship.
Trina and the halfling come up to Trellus and Trina says, "Thank you for keeping your word. Now if you could give us our 50 gps each, we will disembark and you can continue your journey"
Gilan Wednesday June 9th, 2004 10:23:14 PM
Gilan walks over to Trina and the halfling as they stand talking to Trellus. He inclines his head to each and gives them a smile. "Thank you for all your assistance Trina...I heard that you helped out my pack admirably." Glancing to Trellus he nods to thier sometimes leader. "We may face some stiff questions when we get back to Rattledam, but we are doing the right thing." He cannot help but feel that in his heart, after all thier word should not be given if they do not intend to keep it. Integrity is a rare trait and seldom seen.
It would appear that they are no worse for thier experience, though he will carry that one scar for the rest of his life. He absently wonders if thier luck will hold to its current course. With another look to the pair he holds out his hand in friendship. "I hope that you find the quiet that you said you are seeking and maybe we will meet again under different circumstances." It is a heartfelt gesture to the two that could have been thier worst enemies.
Trellus Thursday June 10th, 2004 11:19:50 AM
Trellus' left eyebrow shoots as he tries to recall a promise of 50 gp to these guys.
He can't, but Gilan's right. Trina did cast the Fly spells that let Mac and Gry do their thing, and the halfling did give them decent enough directions to find that boat.
"Might as well weave the whole rug," he comments to Gilan, and gives the two the money. "I really hope I never see you two again," he tells them.
Once the two depart, he turns back the captian. "Lets get out of here. I gotta go home and get yelled at."
Jake Thursday June 10th, 2004 3:48:49 PM
Jake sighs and looks over to Trellus as the two depart, gold in pocket. "Ah think ye're makin' a big mistake, Trell...them two's nothing but trouble. An' who knows if'n they're tellin' tha truth?"
Flea Thursday June 10th, 2004 4:18:10 PM
Flea keeps a wary eye on the young girl fawning over her barbarian friend.
Grymash Thursday June 10th, 2004 8:37:10 PM
Grymash jerks back to life to find himself (well, just the head) cradled by the young female druid. He quickly sits up and looks at her. "Tell Gry! Tell Gry what yooz saw. Yooz see Gargul, right? How it feel ta come back ta life. Yooz say yooz hear Gry callin' ya!" The half-orc cleric continues with his questions until he can't think of any more. He eagerly listens to every word.
Over the next couple of days, as they travel to the settlement to drop off the treadles, Gry spends most of his time in quiet contemplation and prayer. His mood is very pleasant. There is a calmness in him that none of you have ever seen before. He didn't even get mad when Jake flicked a bean at him while he was praying before dinner last night.
DM George "Homecomings" Thursday June 10th, 2004 9:15:26 PM
The Grass Swift has an uneventful trip home as the group celebrate their victory and get to know the young druid Balina.
With Gilan's questions, she will look around and then pull him to the side. "I guess it is permitted to show you this. I have been given the honor of being named a caregiver." She will open her hands and show him a rather large acorn. She will smile up and him and say, "Yes, it is a druid's oak. I am to raise it and with its aid, help push back the grasses."
The ship after 4 days of sailing sites Rattledam and you start to pull into the harbor.
OOC Feel free to post what you are going to do in the four days. I have only recieved one email on hero point nominations. We are about to start a new module, but it still needs approval from Jerry, so you will have a few days to go shopping, get things identified, etc.
Gilan Friday June 11th, 2004 12:49:33 AM
Gilan listens to Balina as she tells him about the acorn. He smiles at her and nods in understanding. "You have my support in any way that I can." Taking and closing her hand back over the acorn as he squeezes it gently. "May the Wold Mother watch over you in your mission." He spends much of his time speaking to Balina about the druid tree and what it will intell. He tells her of his own plans of becoming a GreenMage and how he hopes to help in the very fight she is starting.
The rest of his time is spent in silent meditation with the Wold Mother about what he has done and his direction. Glancing to the harbor as they near it he swallows hard and looks to Trellus. "Well...ready to be put through the shredder?" He looks to the rest of the group and then back to Trellus. "I will take a lot of the responsibility for this one...it was my recommendation to take Trina's help and I almost burned down the plains." He scans the dock area to see if there is anyone that he knows on it. He is paying especial attention for Kaili, Malafret and Galafor...the last for other reasons.
Trellus Friday June 11th, 2004 11:27:37 AM
The cleric can only nod in agreement to Jake's assesment. "Won't be the first time," he grins. "Remember when we wove Milo's spices into the beater's lunch? Galafar was SO twisted."
Trellus spends the intervening days laying out the treasure taken from the Baron Ship and seeing who wants what. The pile consists of:
He asks the mage, "Tishe', can you figure out what any of this stuff does?" [OOC - Identify?]
"Anybody want any of it now? Anything nobody wants?"
"I want to see what that armor, shield, and dagger can do before we just sell it."
--
As they sail into Rattledam, Trellus claps Gilan on the shoulder. "Someday," he grins widely "we're gonna cure you of this 'I'm responsible' piggie poop. We're the pack, we weave together. I mean, if you hadn't got 'em with the fire, Mac and Gry were gonna kill 'em all anyway."
"Besides," he adds "we did what they sent us out to do. We stopped the bad guys, and saved the secret of Rattledam's location. We wove some shady picks out there."
DM George Saturday June 12th, 2004 9:19:11 AM
OOC I am holding off on posting til I see more posts...George
Mac Saturday June 12th, 2004 10:24:50 AM
"Well", adds the taur to Trellus and Gillan, "I've have settled for being convincing enough to scare them all overboard - was even considering dismasting the boat."
"I've been wearing the bracers - they fit kinda nice. Not sure they're much benefit though."
Gilan Sunday June 13th, 2004 1:19:12 AM
Gilan smiles to Trellus and then shrugs. "Maybe...but this time I was mostly responsible." He grins at his friend as he looks out to the docks, then he snaps his fingers.
He will find both Jake and Tishe', knowing that they cannot get away till they get to the docks. "Hey Jake, I have something for you." He will hand Jake back his invisibility potion and shrug. "Never had a chance to use it or the need." He then wanders off to find Tishe' and pulls out a pair of bottles for her as well. "You loaned me some alchemist fire and I did not use it...though you might want it back." He smiles at her and hide a grin slightly as he hands her the bottles.
Making his way back to stand by Trellus he lays his hand on his friends shoulder. "So...how much trouble do you think we are in." He sighs and then shakes his head once again. "You know that Galafar, he will not rest without finding something wrong with our mission." His eyes sparkle as he thinks of punching the sod in the face and then he breaks out laughing.
He thinks of the captured loot they have and tries to see if anything would be useful, by his standards. "Well I am not really sure if anything fits for me...metal armor and shields are out and my weapons are limited by my order." He shrugs about the last knowing that he has to live under some penalties, but what he did to the other ship is proof that he has power. "Maybe the boots or the cloak...but I would rather see those in more desperate need have them...and depending on what they can do for us." His thinking maybe a little singleminded but he does have a point on much of it.
Flea Sunday June 13th, 2004 9:19:35 PM
Flea pokes around looking at the treasure. The boots seem a good fit, and she asks Trellus if he thinks she can keep them.
She waits until Gilan is ready to head back to his place, and follows quietly behind him when it is time to turn in.
(OOC: Flea doesn't level up, George. Do you still want a new sheet? i.e. any new gear, and minus equipment, potions, etc., used?)
Sorry you didn't go up. You must be close. Please send a new sheet anyway. Thanks.
DM George Monday June 14th, 2004 7:16:22 AM
The ship pulls up to the dock and the sailors tie the ship off and lower the sails.
Balina will come up to Grymash and puts an arm through his and smiles at him and says, "I have never been here before. Can you lead me to the Council chamber? I have to tell them what happened. I can't wait to introduce you as my hero."
Jake Monday June 14th, 2004 9:42:53 AM
The taciturn youth merely nods at the return of his potion, somewhat doubting whether he really wanted it back after all. He claps Gilan on the back and cheerfully intones, "Good ta see ya not thin and crispy, ya crazy walker." He eyes the girl druid appreciatively. Now, her and Gilan, those are magicians he likes...mean, he respects sorcerers and all, for protecting the plains, but heck, druids're the reason it's so neat and varied here, and their magic ain't magic! It's that nature stuff, which is all right by him. But, seeing she's already attached herself to Grymash, and he admits Gry does have a certain charm...in a barbaric, brutish, half-orc sorta way. As opposed to me, Jake thinks, adjusting his hat. He rubs his chin, seeing if he's yet to grow a beard, and sighs, as even though he hasn't shaved since, well, since they left Rattledam on that little nature tour, he has little more than a faint stubble appearing there. The half-elf doesn't say very much, though he looks like by now he's finally gotten used to the sailing and seems more at ease.
[Hero points nominations: I think each player should automatically get one...because otherwise, how do they get the chance to do something heroic anyways? But further nominations are for Grymash, for obvios reasons, for Mac (he went down valiantly), for Gilan (heaidng off on his own), Trellus (taking charge). I'm afraid we the rest of the group haven't had the chance to do much, since it is a boating expedition, and it's hard to do s tuff on boats.]
Trellus Monday June 14th, 2004 2:04:03 PM
The cleric's head pops up, and he looks around, remembering something.
"Hey, did that war boat and all that druid wood get here? Where it go? We get that wood, right?"
Regardless of whether he sees the boat, the cleric bows to Balina's "suggestion". "We probably should go see the Council. For sure they know we're here."
The cleric disembarks and starts for the Temple.
Gilan Monday June 14th, 2004 4:40:42 PM
Gilan slips his arm over Jakes shoulder and smiles back. "Glad I made it out uncrispy myself." He laughs lightly as his friend rubs his chin. It is no secret that he wants to grow a manly beard. "Give it time Jake...just a little time." He lets his arm slip off his friend but not before squeezing his shoulder lightly.
He moves up beside Trellus and nods to him. "Off to make a report and see what the council has to say." He cannot help but smile as he disembarks from the ship and moves along with his pack.
He hears a voice call out his name from the crowd and as he looks around he is almost bowled over. He receives a kiss on the cheek as a young monk girl wraps her arms around his neck. "Kaili." He pulls her in tight as he hugs her and then lets her feet touch the ground again. He cannot hold back a smile as he walks along beside her, holding her hand.
After speaking to the council he will slip back to his home with the others that are staying there. He will gather a few things and move off to a corner where he falls deep into some work. He will let everyone know that he is working on something important and to please not disturb him.
Grymash Monday June 14th, 2004 10:08:20 PM
Grymash turns to Balina and explains, "Thay's got sun-baked rules here. Weez should wait untils thay be askin' for Bloodpack ta come. Gry for sure Malafret be waitin' for us here at dock. She wills takes us to council. She be deep-soiled as thay come!" However, Grymash cant help but feel it strange that this girl would become so attached to him. His appearance and brutish mannerisms usually scare off her kind.
Grymash scans the "harbor" for the presence of their captured battleship. "Hey guys, where be da big boat weez sent back?"
(I agree, everyone deserves at least one hero point. I also agree with the nominations so far. I will also add Flea did do a tricky acrobatic jump onto the battleship from the GrassSwift mast, right into the heat of battle and took out several gnolls.)
DM George " Reception" Monday June 14th, 2004 10:54:21 PM
As the crew disembarks they can see the captured warship docked on a different pier. It is being swarmed by sailors repairing battle damage and some familiar Swift Grass faces can be seen working on it as well.
The crew is met by a pretty but severe looking monk at the end of the pier. She will bow low to you and say, "My name is Sasha. I have been ordered to greet you and bring you to the high council to report on your mission. Please follow me."
She will wait for all of you to disembark and give Balina a strange look but then lead you off to the council hall when you are ready.
Flea Monday June 14th, 2004 11:03:08 PM
The rogue can't believe the pack isn't more interested in the loot than they appear to be. While her friends mill around the dock sorting out their affairs, she sits down, removes her own plain soft boots, and pulls on the boots abandoned by the halfling mercenary.
Flea admires the handsome footwear, then takes a trial jog down the plank, along the deck, and onto the streets. Very comfortable. I wonder what they do? she thinks as she jumps to one side, and clicks her heels together before sprinting down the street.
Returning bright-eyed and breathless, and overhearing the query about the 'druid wood', the gnome volunteers, "didn't Gilan bring it on board and stow it down below on the Grass Swift?" Flea looks genuinely puzzled, and asks, "Is it all that valuable?"
When the one called 'Sasha' gives Grymash's new honey an odd look, Flea follows suit, trying to replicate the same expression.
(OOC: I have no problems with Flea's status. I'll surely level up after the next adventure ;-) Just keep them coming!)
Trellus Tuesday June 15th, 2004 10:35:11 AM
Trellus takes all the stuff nobody else claimed and carries it with him. "Doesn't anyone want this ring or cloak? Mac? Gry? Jake?" he asks.
[OOC - I'm sending emails with the equip list, are you getting them?]
The cleric dutifully falls into line behind Sasha as he answers Flea. "Its totally valuable. Druid wood makes the grass boats sail on the Grass. What Gilan found is worth a fortune. And no, we didn't have time to bring it over to the Grass Swift, so we left it on that boat for later. Well, now I guess.
Gilan Tuesday June 15th, 2004 2:20:36 PM
Gilan falls into step with the others and slowly moves his way up to walk beside Flea and Trellus. "Strange that Malafret did not meet us." She has always been the one to do these types of things.
Taking a glance around at the people they pass he reads reactions and moods as they pass. He finally looks to Trellus and shakes his head. "This does not seem too good...or hopefully she had more important things to do." He smiles as he walks on but is a little sad that Kaili had to leave. Still duty was duty and that was something he understood. "By the way, if noone is interested I would not mind having the cloak...it could come in very handy later."
[OOC: Sent a reply as to the cloak in email. Not sure as to who needs the real boost in their saves though, so will defer to someone that needs the help from the cloak.]
Flea Tuesday June 15th, 2004 7:39:39 PM
Flea walks beside Trellus, still wearing the new boots, since no one has asked her to take them off. "I've just got a regular short bow, but Gilan gave me some nifty arrows. If'n no one wants the bow, I would like it." Flea quickly adds, "'course I wouldn't expect much else from the haul..."
She looks around at the pack with hopeful eyes, trying to judge her friends' response.
Jake Tuesday June 15th, 2004 8:37:05 PM
Jake walks along, then notices the shield and fine sword sitting among the booty. Unable to help himself, he picks them up and looks them over, admiring the fine work, far better than anything he's ever seen or made... Afraid to ask if they're magical or not, he takes them along, his share, if anyone asks.
Grymash d20+2=10 Tuesday June 15th, 2004 11:08:22 PM
Grymash turns to the others with a hard look and a heart touch. There is just something about this girl that doesnt seem right. Da monks weren't expecting her. They always know when to expect someone. She seems pleasant and all, but that's just it ... she's too pleasant. Strangers aren't pleasant to Grymash. They never are at first. Grymash isn't sure if his feelings are based on his lack of trust of strangers or his own poor self-image. People who are nice to Grymash are either wanting something or up to no good. The whole idea of this person trying to take advantage of the half-orc makes him growl inside. His expression turns sour as he tastes bitter deception in the air. (Wisdom 10)
"Wait," halts Grymash as they walk to the Council Hall. "It be ours way dat Gry's carry da belongin's of visitors before meetin' da council. Gry carry belongin's of Mac an Tishe when thay arrives here in Rattledam. So must Gry carry's Balina's stuff too. It ..uh, tradition." Gry holds out his hand for anything she is carrying.

Flea looks at the boots and experiments with them a little. Suddenly she is running much faster than she can normally.
Balina looks at Grymash with concern in her eyes at his strange request. She replies, "I am sorry my beloved but I can't relinquish my sacred trust to you. I am sure your worthy but it is my responsibility. I must carry it and protect it alone."
The monk Sasha leads the pack to the outer room of the council chamber and says, "You will be shortly summoned." She gracefully departs.
Almost immediately the elegantly carved doors open and Malafet can be seen with a big smile on her face. "I am sorry I couldn't meet your ship, but my new duties on the council have been keeping me very busy.
Come in, we must not keep the council waiting." When the Bloodpack enters, they only see two other councilors. Trenic, the head of the council, and their old friend Galafar are sitting. Malafet soon is sitting beside them. Trenic will rise up and say, "Balina, We are so happy to see you. How did you arrive with this group? I hope you are well.
She will then look at Trellus and say, "Please deliver your report young man."
Grymash Wednesday June 16th, 2004 2:36:51 AM "Hmmm," the half-orc thinks, "da council know Balina!" Grymash finally relaxes and suddenly feels comfortable about bringing the girl to the council. In fact, the cleric of Gargul stands a little taller ... being a hero and miracle worker after all. He feels proud and more in touch with his god. Gry is amazed that he was given the gift of restoring life after so many deaths by his own hands.
Trellus Wednesday June 16th, 2004 8:17:34 AM
There are times when Trellus wishes somebody else was in charge, and this is one of them.
As the three monks stare at him, the young man becomes acutely aware that they're all at least twice his age and have likely forgotten more than he's ever learned.
The cleric swallows involuntarily, sends a quick prayer to Domi, and steps forward.
"Master Trenic, we succeeded in stopping the location of Rattledam from reaching the Barons. We pursued and caught the warship, and destroyed the crew. The ship was crewed by gnolls, and carried the mercenaries who invaded our home - a warrior, a thief, and a sorceress.
From a captured mercenary, we learned that the warship had delivered this druid, and Rattledam's location, to another boat. That boat was heading for a Baron camp near the Crystal Range.
We chased down the other boat, destroyed it and its crew, and rescued Balina.
Master, the Barons are building a fleet of those warships. They plan to go after the traders and cut us off. Maybe even get our location out of the traders. They're collecting druid wood by the boatful. The war boat we captured holds a mess of it."
Trellus finishes with a duck of his head toward Trenic. He does everything he can to avoid Galafar's gaze, and waits.
Mac d20+5=11 Wednesday June 16th, 2004 10:13:13 AM
The taur waits in silence as Trellus addresses Master Trenic. He wonders why the cleric makes the whole thing sound so simple and easy, but considers better of asking here and now. It will be good when this meeting with the bea.. monks is done and we can rest on solid ground, but he's sure that won't happen. He attempts to keep an eye on things [Spot check = 11], but there is too much to see.
Flea d20+5=16 Wednesday June 16th, 2004 7:30:31 PM
The gnome stands beside her packmates, shoulders back, and head held high. (Bluff=16) She is proud of her pack-mates and their response to the challenge posed by the Barons and their allies. She hopes that Malafret is proud of them, and that they have showed up that beater, Galafar.
(OOC: Still negotiating treasure distribution, George, so haven't updated character sheet yet.)
Gilan d20+13=25 d20+13=23 d20+13=31 Wednesday June 16th, 2004 8:05:13 PM
Gilan walks in with the rest his head held high. No, they had done things right and a good job at that. He looks to poor Trellus as he has to step forward and make things known. He sighs with relief as he leaves out the fact that two of the mercenaries were let go.
He watches the expressions of each of the council members as they hear what the pack has done. His eyes lock with Galafar for a few seconds though he sees no admiration in the man's eyes. He simply shrugs it off and looks to the other two...the more important ones as far as he is concerned.
[Did not know that brewing a potion required a craft check of anykind. Still made them anyways for you George. craft(alchemy) 25, 23, 31]

Balina will look sternly at Trellus and step forward and say, "Good sirs, they are being way to modest. My beloved stormed the ship by himself and saved me from the fire." She grabs Grymash's hand and continues, "And they showed mercy too! They even gave those mercanaries a new start! They game them gold and put them a shore in a nice little town...." Balina trails off as she sees the shocked expressions on the councilors faces.
Galafar stands up with rage in his eyes and yells, "You let them go! How...Who gave you the authority to let them go!" He turns to Trenic and says, "I told you so. I told you they couldn't be trusted!"
Trenic says, "Sit down sir!" to Galafar. She turns a concerned expression onto Trellus and the rest of the Bloodpack and says, "Please explain this."
Malafet looks at the group with concern in her eyes and her hands over her mouth.
