Setting Up An Ambush

Orcish Camp. (DM Jim)
Thursday May 20th, 2004 10:23:08 PM

The two ogres appear to be in deep conversation with each other. They seem to have not heard you or seen your approach as of yet.

The two orcs closest to the ogres seem to be lookouts that are not doing too good of a job. Their heads are drooped a little as if they maybe asleep or near it. The rest of the orc are pretty much gathered by the fire.

Brahmah casts his spell and scans the area for any signs of pits or other traps that the orcs may have laid out for them. He finds nothing in the area of any kind, though that does little to ease his mind.

Zeoll casts his own spell and finds that he can now communicate with both Kale and Brahmah with ease. This should allow for easier planning on the fly.

Kale and Vasch both decide that they could sneak around the camp and hit from the side or the back. A question of healing to assist them is immediately brought up by Kanchana, who sees thier safety as he prime concern.

Brahmah grows frustrated with the setup that the camp is in. It is easily defendable and hard to get at, but it still may have it's weaknesses.

Toros casts a spell of his own too, that will assist them in getting close to the camp; or so he hopes. He knows thought that he must decide where to place his spell as he can get one of either of the two orcs or both ogres.

[Toros - Need to know where you want to place that lullaby spell.]

[Kale/Vasch - Need to know which side you would like to go up through the mountainal area. You could cross over to the left side of the map. You are currently on the right side and could go up that way too.]

Brahmah (AC 22, 75/75hps)
Friday May 21st, 2004 1:30:28 AM

Active Spells-
Detect Snares and Pits: 2rnds(concentration, 30mins)
Message(Zeoll): 1rnd

Brahmah concentrates for one more round to be sure there are no traps. "I'm pretty sure they have no traps."

Talking quietly to Kale and Zeoll.
"Kale, skirt the camp, come in behind those big tents.
Zeoll, get to where you can cast a few strategically placed spells.
I'll be going in through the front door, but only when we're place.
Everyone, spread out. Get set up, to attack, cast or whatever, then when you hear the word, we all charge."
Brahmah gets set to move in behind a tree(r/y axis), closest to the Chosen. He plans to fire from behind it.

(OOC: Are there any weapons visible to the Chosen? What is near the ogres?)

Gecktar
Friday May 21st, 2004 3:29:50 AM

"OK captain" says Gecktar. "I will follow you and support you for healing and fighting."

Flat-top
Friday May 21st, 2004 7:09:42 AM

Flat-top look at the clearing below "Alright then I'll folow you up the center , I'll hide behind that tree across from you(M/V) and use my bow??"

Kale  d20+8=26
Friday May 21st, 2004 7:10:18 AM

"Dont worry about us." Kale tells Kachanga "Ill take care of Vasch for you" then the tells Vasch and Brahmah "We're going for the third tent on the left(f-g on the map) then we'll work our way to the rear tents." then he looks at Vasch and says "Lets go." then begins to work his way around the mountains towards the intended tent(move silently check of 26)

Kanchana (42/44 HP, AC 19)  d20+5=15 d20+5=23 d20+6=23 d8+2=3
Friday May 21st, 2004 7:12:33 AM

Kanchana shakes her head as she sees that Brahmah is splitting everyone up again. She remembers how bad that went last time. 'Warriors never learn.', she thinks rather unhappily. She does not understand Brahmah's reasoning for combat planning.

"You do realize that the guards are half asleep or just chattering? Look at them. I am not so certain that they know we are here yet." Kanchana tells Brahmah (though not in a loud voice). She sounds frustrated as well. "And charging... what a wonderful idea." Her voice is dripping with heavy sarcasm. "That makes easy to hit individual targets," the upset Liontauress concludes dryly.

Kanchana sheathes her scimitar as she moves into position, she draws her composite long bow instead. She will stay in the mountainous area, but within bow range of one the orc guards (QK) and one of the ogres (OM). She finds concealment behind some rocks or boulders she hopes (area W/XL).

Kanchana will not cast 'Soften Earth and Stone'. She would have to to be within plain sight to cast that spell (range 35 ft). If she sees plants growing around the the two ogres she will cast 'Entangle' centered in between them (range 560ft, 40 ft radius, 4 min. duration).

(Spot (looking for grasses or any other plants around the ogres) 15, Spot (see what type of ground it is and how effective a SE&S spell will be) 23)

((Jim, if there are enough plants around the ogres then she will cast 'Entangle' centred between them first. If not she will not waste a spell and will fire an arrow at orc (QK) first (Hit AC 23 for a whopping 3 pts dmg). NOTE: Keep in mind that I may have written the map coordinates wrong. Kanchana is in the rocky area on the right side of the map, 8 or 9 squares away from the right hand ogre.))

Brahmah
Friday May 21st, 2004 7:54:49 AM

The leader tries to explain why he is using the judgement he's using, to Kanchana.

"I say 'charge' for one reason this time.
First, they are sleepy or distracted, as you said. We'll have confusion on our side.
Besides, the fact is, we're armed with bows and with a few strategically placed spells, the orcs won't stand a chance.
I trust the casters judgement. I, for one, would simply fireball the whole lot if I could and be done with this.
I'm going around front because I'm a decoy. We split their group up, all coming for me, then the spells go off.

We could wait until their asleep and go in at night?

Of course, I've always listened when taurs had stuff to say. If you have a smarter way, let me know." He looks at her and places his hands on his waist.

Kanchana (to Brahmah)
Friday May 21st, 2004 8:31:34 AM

"We will be charging straight into an entire area filled with entangling plants", Kanchana points out, "we would do better to use ranged attacks while they are trapped. Charging just isn't worth the energy expenditure and the lack of accuracy." Kanchana looks less upset now, "of course if you want the warriors to charge in then I have my bow ready. Attacking at night is even better if we remain concealed now. That should scare them half to death seeing Taurs emerge from the darkness beyond their firepit." "Thank you for trying to explain this to me Brahmah." Kanchana smiles to the Captain before walking away and taking up her position.

(If Zeoll cast his Entangle spell then it would cover the north half of the encampment while Kanchana's would cover the south part; over-lapping with Zeoll's spell in some places, and cutting off any retreat the orcs and ogres might have into the "forest".)

Toros
Friday May 21st, 2004 8:41:09 AM

"We should attack in the day time, as orcs have light sensitivity but can see as good as us at night, or do I know wrong??"

Vasch (AC20, 32/32hp, Elixer of Hiding)  d20+16=31 d20+11=27 d20+9=21 d20+5=22
Friday May 21st, 2004 8:44:19 AM

Vasch doesn't appear amused with being 'taken care of', but instead focuses on the task at hand.

"Why not soften them up with as much arrow fire as we can." Vasch says feeling like he's talking to himself. "Keep shooting until they come to you. Those that flee can be picked off by Kale and I." Vasch looks to the others.

"I'll bet the ogres will charge. Brahmah you could have the opportunity to take an ogre in single combat. The orcs may return fire, but after the first few volleys and spells should just be clean-up." Vasch waits for opinions.

[Hide DC31, Move Silently DC27, Spot DC21, Listen DC22]

Toros
Friday May 21st, 2004 9:04:10 AM

"Vasch, I agree with softing them up with arrows as much as we can... But, I suppose there is at least one more orc in the tents. We killed 4 orcs and here I can count 11 orcs and 16 tents, if the last two big tents are for the ogres. And what if any@of them are spell casters..."

<<Dear DM, can we understand from their appearances that any of the ogres and orcs look like spellcasters rather than fighters?>

<By the way, Toros will have casted his lullaby spell to the place of the ogres>

Zeoll (AC15, HP36)  d20+6=8
Friday May 21st, 2004 10:17:41 AM

Listening to the quick quiet debate, Zeoll nods at Kanchana. He moves close enough to cast his spell, but does not cast it yet.

He waits and watches [spot 8] as Kale and Vasch sneak into position. That might take a few rounds, the liontaur figures.

Zeoll is worried that the orcs and ogres might be alerted. So he Readies An Action: If the orcs/ogres notice the Chosen, then Zeoll will cast his Entangle spell covering the north part of the camp.

He will center it on N-Across-F-Down, but not yet, unless the orcs are alerted.

If Zeoll is on the map, he'll be at Y-Z-Donw-U-V-Across. (But maybe he is still farther back? The spell has a loooong range of 480 feet.)

As a free action, the liontaur will relay any short whispers that Kale and Brahmah offer him.

As he waits, Zeoll's tail lashes nervously.

Toros  d20=7 d20=1 d20=15 2d6(2+5)=7
Friday May 21st, 2004 11:23:56 AM

As decided Toros will concentrate on his spell untill Kale, Vasch, Kanchana, Flat-top and others are in position. He will carefully observe the ogres to notice any change in their actions. << Can Toros understand whether his spell is successful or not? (d20, 7 spot check? +5 = 12>>

However, while concentrating he can not pay much attention to other happenings in the surroundings and ceases talking (d20 +6 = 7 listen check).

If his spell is succesfull, concentrating on his spell, after Kale and Vasch Toros will also move towards the left handside of the map and target the lookout orc standing at the left side with his longbow. He will send a masterwork arrow, when the attack of Chosen begin. (d20, 15 + 5, 20) (7 hp damage, 2d6, 2+5)

(Dr DM, Passing from the X line would be enough for not being noticed by the ogres and then hiding behind the tree at U-H would be enough for using longbow without any significant range penalty, do you think so??)

Toros 41-41 HP, 22 AC
Friday May 21st, 2004 11:33:54 AM

<<And Kanchana, shouldn't the damage of longbow be 2d6 rather than 1d8, as it is a large weapon on the hands of taurs, I might be wrong but, just wanted to ask...>>

Kanchana (OOC)
Friday May 21st, 2004 12:50:01 PM

((Toros I have no clue what so ever, it is a composite longbow +2 strength bonus, and it is sized for Taurs. That is all I know. Don't ask me about weapons and combat. (LOL) Those are the two things that I know the least about.)) ;)

Brahmah
Saturday May 22nd, 2004 1:27:57 AM

The taur listens and nods at Kanchana's and the others suggestions.

"Okay. Here's how it'll go. No night assault, we attack soon.

First, the spellcasters determine when we attack, Zeoll, Kanchana, maybe Toros, cast their Entangles or any other spells. I'll back you guys up if one of your Entangle miss or go off center.

Then only after the spells go off, the archers, ranged spells (magic missile or whatever) and other area type (tanglefoots, thunderstones) attacks go off.
No one is to charge in. If it's necessary to go into hand to hand, make sure a partner is nearby. When you meet an attacker, make sure your close to another Chosen that can back you up. No running away to heal, depend on your Chosen.

Only the major fighters should confront those ogres... and Vasch, I'll take an ogre one on one only as a last resort. No one should go toe to toe with them unless they have a partner close by.
Besides, we need the ogres seperated so they don't team against us.
Flanked by ogres is not going on my epitaph!"

He looks around.
"Kenisha and Taric aren't here anymore to help in the retreat calls.
Kanchana, you should be our battle medic and call for regroup if we need it. Hopefully no one will run off and need to be healed."

"Combat partners. Flat-top and myself, Kale and Vasch, Kanchana and Zeoll, Gecktar and Toros, and Pah'caw and Managarm. Those sound good? Suggestions?

If you see your partner in jeopardy you go and help them! That's the only order I'll give to you, everything else is 'use your own judgement'. If you can't take care of your partner for some reason or other, leave them to Domi. Have Courage."

(Iff any of you have a major issue with my ideas, just email me, I'll read them and consider options. :) I do read all my emails.)

Vasch (AC20, 32/32hp, Elixer of Hiding)
Saturday May 22nd, 2004 11:57:57 AM

"That's fine, but my point was an ogre riddled with arrows...nevermind..."

The troubles with our peoples are becoming more clear...eyes down, horns forward...

"Alright, Kale shall we? We will be moving on your charge, captain."

Orc Encampment. (DM Jim)  d20+5=25 d20+5=17
Sunday May 23rd, 2004 1:12:50 AM

Brahmah moves forward after running over the area again with his spell. Satisfied that he has found nothing he slowly moves forward and behind a tree as he watches the other Chosen make their own moves into position. Pah'caw is still perched on his shoulder and he finds it a little hard to pull the string on his bow with an eagle on his shoulder. Brahmah is able to make out a couple of clubs by the ogres and each of the orcs has near them or on them a falchion. They are all dressed in the same type of chainmail and wearing black clothing otherwise. Gecktar pulls up alongside of him and then both use the tree for cover.

Flat-top moves up to a tree just a little further up than his captain and takes out his own bow and prepares for what it about to happen. He looks back to make sure that everyone else is moving along just fine.

Kale and Vasch race across the ground to reach the other side of the opening. The make it to the last tree right before the ground start to turn back into mountainal area again. They take the time to catch their breath and make another dash for it in a few. It appears that they have not been spotted.

Kanchana and Zeoll slip up into the hard ground and mountainal area of the side they were originally on. They find the going a little harder and slower but still make it a good ways without making too much noise. Zeoll nor Kanchana find that much vegetation that would help them out with an entangle spell. There is a little grass but as to how effective it would be in slowing their enemies is to be seen.

Leets hugs the rougher ground as he makes his way forward a little. He uses the cover of a tree to mask his approach on the camp. His faithful hound is right at his side to lend a helping hand as needed.

Toros is not sure if his spell is very successful on the ogres but he cannot worry too much about that as he slips across the open area as well. He turns before actually reaching Vasch and Kale and positions himself behind a tree to hide with the others. Toros can tell easily that there is no arcane caster among the orcs, but that does not mean there is not a divine caster there.

The orcs and ogres continue on with what they were doing before. They seem to have not noticed any of the group as they move into position. The two ogres continue what seems to be a discussion of some kind. Some of the orcs seem to be playing some kind of game and are intent on it.

[Some of you moved a little less distance than you had thought, this is due to reduced movement speed for the terrain. Complaints, let me know. Had to do some editing so am sorry about the lateness of this post.]

(OOC: The Entangle Spells won't effect the trees in O/S or N/G axis, closest to the camp? The spell says it can effect trees, but the spell also says DM discretion. :))

Active Spells-
Magic Fang(scroll): 1rnd(Brahmah[horns] and Pah'caw[talons])
Message(Zeoll's): 2rnds(Brahmah, Zeoll and Kale)

While waiting for the others to get into position, Brahmah removes a scroll from his scroll case and casts Magic Fang then commands Pah'caw to move off his shoulder and find a tree.

Whispering as they move up to the trees, "Sorry Leets, I almost forgot you, cast Bless now. (Hopefully prior to seperating from the group!)"

Once the group is broken, he whispers to Kale and Zeoll.
"Get into that camp quickly. Hit'm hard and fast. Don't give'm time to think. It's your call Zeoll! Tell Kanchana to focus on healing and to stay out of the orc's way!"

He fumbles a bit with the bow, trying to get it ready, only accustomed to swords mainly.

Toros HP (41/41) AC (22)
Sunday May 23rd, 2004 3:56:45 AM

Assuming that his spell is in effect Toros will continue to concentrate on his "lullaby" to ease the positioning of others. He will also ready his longbow and arrow for the beginning of assault (not sure whether rolls from the previous round apply?)

Kanchana ((OOC))
Sunday May 23rd, 2004 6:05:51 AM

((In case James doesn't get my e-mail until late, Kanchana has NOT cast any spells due to an inaccurate placement on the map. If she is as far away as the DM has indicated, then she hasn't done anything but wait. Just an FYI. Also James has noted that there is very little grass and such to make an entangle spell questionable to cast at best. Kanchana doesn't waste spells so don't expect an entangle spell to be cast from her unless we have to retreat. Can anyone answer Toros' question about damage from Taur sized composite long bows with +2 strength bonuses?))

Kanchana (HP 42/44, AC 19)
Sunday May 23rd, 2004 6:14:24 AM

If Zeoll gives Kanchana Brahmah's message about just healing paople and doing nothing else she will growl very lowly and look very peeved.

She has her bow ready and intends to try and help out so that people might not need so much healing; especially since we are so very spread out and wands of healing are touch-based.
Kanchana would spend the whole battle stupidly running around trying to keep people relatively wound free. That would be very ineffective...

((P.S. I thought that James has said earlier that we were coming from the right side of the map? It looks more like we were coming from the bottom. See comment on placement (right hand side) in DM post 20/05-04. Maybe I misread that?))

(OOC) Brahmah
Sunday May 23rd, 2004 7:15:37 AM

(See page 114 in the PHB)
Regular large(or taur sized, called large for game mechanic reasons) longbows do 2d6 damage and have a range of 100ft.
Large composite longbows also do 2d6 damage, but they have a range of 110ft.

Regular large shortbows do 1d8 damage(rather than 1d6) and have a range of 60ft, however, composite shortbows have a range of 70ft.

Only masterwork composite bows can add a strength bonus to damage.
------------------------------
To Eunice... nope, I think you read that DM post from the 20th correctly, unless I misread it too.
Trust Brahmah, we're going to need a field medic, I feel. :) Sorry if I upset you, as a player.

Zeoll
Sunday May 23rd, 2004 8:58:38 AM

Zeoll listens to Brahmah and relays his words to Kanchana and Kale. He thinks to himself for a second. "The captain wants us to get in fast, but he said it's my call. Kale and Vasch are not in position yet. Okay. Take a deep breath. My call."

Then Zeoll whispers (so Kanchana, Brahmah, and Kale can hear), "Brrahmah says it's my call. So Kale, take Vasch and get into betterr position. Let me know when you arre rready to fight. Therre's not enough grrass to Entangle an ogrre, but maybe therre's enough to tangle the orrcs. When Kale is rready, I'll cast Entangle at the back. Then we can all focus ourr attacks on the Ogrres."

Zeoll readies his Entangle, centered at O-Across-A-Down, to be cast if Kale says he is ready or if the enemy realizes what is happening.

Zeoll and Kanchana move further into the rough area and get a lot closer to their goal. They can make out the orc standing guard and the two ogres talking, though they cannot catch anything being said.

Kale and Vasch move further in the open area, using the trees to cover thier movements. Before long they find that they must also move into the rougher area as well to keep from being spotted. Moving into the rougher area Vasch catches sight of movement in some of the bigger rocks, looking closer reveals two orcs.

Everyone else holds their positions but Pah'caw who flys into the tree further up. She stays there looking out at the camp before her.

[Made an ammendement to the starting position of the group. It was my bad wording that fouled that up, but it will all work out.]

[To get to the point that Vasch indicated you will have to move through the non-mountainal area and that will not get you to that position. Remember that movement is decreased in the rougher area. I gave Vasch and Kale the maximum distance possible without being seen.]

[Have gotten no posts from Leets it looks like. I think he took some time off and was suppose to get someone to RP for him. Anyone know anything about this?]

[The trees could very well entangle the orcs and or ogres, but you must remember that it would be hard for a pine type tree to reach very far to grab something. Anyone making a survival check 14 will realize that there is enough grass in places to catch orcs, but not enough to hold an ogre.]

[Anyone that made an attack roll for thier last post for when the fighting begins. I have kept that number along with damage if you want to use it. I will need a new damage number from Kanchana though for the Taur sized weapon. Also, there have been no spells used by anyone yet; besides lullaby from Toros, bless from Leets, magic fang from Brahmah and message from Zeoll.]

He signals to Pah'caw(free action).

Zeoll tries to spot any lurking orcs. [OOC, Spot check 25]

Thus Toros will stop concentrating on the ogres (the lullaby spell has 1 more round in effect with the end of concentration) and cast another "lullaby" on the orc, left at K-J, in order to ease the actions of Vasch and Kale to move without being noticed.

She listens for any sounds from any possible nearby enemies trying to sneak up on them.

Most of The Chosen holds their positions and wait for the command to fire. Brahmah spends his time spelling up himself to communicate with his eagle and send her on a scouting mission.

Toros hits the closest orc with his lullaby spell and it seems to sink deeper into it's relaxed position.

Pah'caw circles high in the air and surveys the area closely for any other signs of trouble. She spots several more orcs in the rough area to each side as she slowly circles the area.

Zeoll and Kanchana quickly scan the area as Brahmah gives them the news and they spot three orcs hidden among the boulders as well as an ogre. Kanchana had been intending to shoot the orc in camp, but the sudden appearance of orcs in their area and charging them made her change her mind. It instead thuds into one of the charging orcs.

Kale has a quick discussion with Vasch and the agree to try and take the two orcs out. But Vasch notices another two orcs hiding in the rocks as well. Still he lets a pair of arrows fly into the closest orc.

The orc that Vasch just shot lets out a scream of pain as both arrows enter his body. He has enough energy to pull up a javelin and send it flying at Vasch in retaliation (hit: 17, damage: 5).

The other three orcs turn to face Vasch and Kale with a look of delighted glee in their eyes, as they hoot and holler. They charge at the two of them with falchions pulled. The first two stop to engage Kale as he is closer (hit: 12, damage: 9 and hit: 20, damage: 14). The last skirts him and heads for Vasch, his falchion cutting low (hit: 20, damage: 11).

The ogre moves slowly towards Zeoll and Kanchana as it starts to shake. Spittle flies from it's mouth as it grinds it's hands around the handle of it's greatclub.

The three orcs on the other side by Zeoll and Kanchana seem to have been watching you as they are not surprised by your sudden spotting them. They charge forward with all intents on killing you. The first two swing their falchions at Zeoll as he curses (hit: 13, damage: 11 and hit: 24, damage: 11). The last steps up to make a swipe at Kanchana, an arrow of hers sporting from his chest (hit: 12, damage: 9).

The orcs in the camp start mobilizing with the scream from the left. The two ogres start moving forward and side by side at that. The hold greatclubs and have started to shake as they move forward. Their eyes are wide and they have started to foam at the mouth.

Both of the orcs in the very back of the camp start to chant and they slowly move their arms as they prepare to cast spells.

[Pah'caw will need to fly back to Brahmah to report what she has found out.]

[Zeoll, give me a quick idea of what you want to do. Cast the spell as the orcs had charged or hit a charging orc instead with a weapon. I will administer this as a held action for the last round. I will also need a held action from Flat-top and Gecktar that will have happened last round. More or less give me two actions, one for last post and one for the post to this DM post. Thanks.]

[Be aware that the above actions may make changes to the battle map. Escpecially if the entangle spell is cast by Zeoll.]

Toros HP (41/41) AC (22)
Wednesday May 26th, 2004 2:46:38 AM

Realizing that their ambush plan has failed, Toros will stop concentrating on his lullaby spell (lasts 1 more round).

Rather, he will use his readied longbow. However, rather than the relaxing orc he will send it to the chanting spell caster at E-K. ((Jim, we can use the rolls in my previous post but I have not added the attack bonus from "bless", could you please add it))

Leets
Wednesday May 26th, 2004 3:33:18 AM

(OOC: sorry, I couldn't have access for a couple of days. It's ok now...Let's see what's happening...)

Leets watches the two ogres coming closer side by side. He considers Brahmah's and Flat-Top position, who are both hidden, and calls:

"Managarm! Let's go, we'll face some ogres!"

Leets will move next to the tree on line S, not hidden. He will stand weapons in hands, but will nod at the ogres:

"Do you really need to remain together not to forget what you were doing! I wonder if you even get an entire brain by adding both yours! Come on!"

Waiting for the strange couple, Leets hope that by making them closer, it will help Brahmah and Flat-Top attacking.

Zeoll (readied action)
Wednesday May 26th, 2004 6:02:00 AM

Zeoll casts his readied Entangle the moment that things start to go belly up -- before the two orcs advance on him to take their swings. He centers it, as previously planned, at O-Across-A-Down, with a 40-foot radius.

Brahmah lets out an 'eagle screech', meaning 'Fly away!'(free action to speak).

Brahmah thinks to Kale and Zeoll, "Talk to me friends, combat started! Let me know whats happening up there!"

From behind the tree(using it for cover and hiding 12)Brahmah then lets his arrows fly, aiming at the ogre (in O across, O down), realizing that both ogres are headed for Zeoll and Kanchana.
(Bless included, hitting AC 18 and 22, for 6 and 10 damage.)
The attack is intended to draw them off.

Brahmah's face is curled up in disappointment and also confirmation. He knows that the only reason their ambush attempt failed was because of the flare earlier down on the path.

(BTW, when we all get into melee combat, the 'G' representing Gecktar might get mistaken for an ogre. Just FYI. I suggest using 'R' for Gecktar. :))
(OOC: How much damage will you allow a large longbow to do if it is used as a club, Jim? ;))

Zeoll (bless, message, AC15, HP14 of 36)
Wednesday May 26th, 2004 6:35:48 AM

With a gasp of pain, Zeoll realizes that he has been badly wounded. In a flash, he imagines how the dread god Gargul would react if the liontaur returned to the Lands of Rest less than an hour after his ressurection. This prompts Zeoll to do two things he never did before when he was alive.

He curses with the fluency of one who has been listening to the dead lament their fates -- "Duck a Shun, you Simple Prratts!"

Then he backs off, turns tail, and runs away! [Withdraw action, PHB p143] "Get out, Kanchana!" he calls over his shoulder. Then he whispers, "Brrahmah, Kale, thrree orrcs and an ogrre on this side. Kanchana and I arre wounded."

Zeoll flees to U-Down-P-Across (counting the first two squares as double cost, I think that's 80 feet).

Kanchana (HP 42/44, AC 19)
Wednesday May 26th, 2004 11:28:30 AM

The orc's blow actually flies wide, and Kanchana is no worst for wear from earlier.

Kanchana takes her a hint from Zeoll. She also withdraws quickly. ([Withdraw action, PHB p143]Straight back 80ft.)
Just before she withdraws she yells at the top of her lungs: "REGROUP! REGROUP!" The she-wemic is fairly certain that there are others who have been ambushed as well.

When she catches up with Zeoll she says, "Zeoll I was not injured by that creature." With a big grin she says, "he missed." Kanchana is no longer grinning as she looks at Zeoll, "You look terrible though!"

If Kanchana has the opportunity she will sling her bow across her back as she retreats. This way her hands will be free to use the CSW wand on Zeoll. (Next round Kanchana will take out the CSW wand and heal Zeoll. I will roll for that next post.)

Thursday May 27th, 2004 1:34:00 AM

Toros fires off his arrow at the orc spellcaster as he takes a step from the cover of the tree. His arrow flies true and strikes the caster dealing some damage.

Leets moves forward into the battle area and taunts the two ogres as the move down towards the group. It is evident to him that they had been expected by this little group and they are well armed for an advanced scout. Managarm follows along with his master and then blinks out to appear by an ogre that had just been struck by a bolt, biting him hard in the leg. He then blinks back to his master's side, hackles raised and growling.

Zoell gets out his entangle spell before the orcs and ogre had a chance to move and to his amazement two of the orcs are suddenly grappled in the strong grass that grows sparsely on the mountain. He accepts the blow of one of the orcs as it is able to avoid the grass and then backs off to ready himself for the next encounter.

Gecktar takes the time to cast a spell of his own before any of the monsters could move and then fires off an arrow of his own. He picks the same spellcaster orc that Toros shot, trying to put it down. He has much luck and the arrow sinks deep in orc flesh.

Brahmah screeches a warning to his eagle as he pulls back and lets an arrow fly into the furthest ogre to the right. It buries itself into the tough flesh of the ogre, that continues to foam at the mouth. Though it seems to have had little effect at all. He suddenly realizes that he was wrong, the ogres are moving in his direction and should reach Leets first as he has now moved forward. Pah'caw dives at the ogre that her master shot but pulls out of her dive when she only catches a little of it's black clothing.

Flat-top fires off a bolt into the ogre to the left and then smiles in satisfaction as it slams into it's shoulder. It does not slow though as the bolt hits and even the sudden appearance of Managarm biting it does little to slow it.

Vasch rears back and swipes at the orc with both front claws. His claws come away bloody as he draws red lines across the orc's face. It does little more though than superficial damage to the orc.

Kanchana finds that her orc did not get to her after all as it got caught up in the grasses. She is free to move back to safety and beside Kale with little difficulty. She puts away her bow as she moves and prepares to give him some healing.

Kale curses the fact that Vasch did not wait for him to cooridinate their attacks. He takes the hit from the orc and then returns it in kind. His own blade cuts deep and blood sprays as he hits something vital. The orc collapses at his feet and is not going to be able to continue the fight.

Two of the orcs on the right hand side struggle in the sparse grasses as Zeoll's entangle spell takes effect. They continue to struggle as their fellow orc and ogre move on by them. The orc that was able to get by continues the chase on Zeoll and Kanchana though it stops short of being able to attack. The ogre also continues on with it's pursuit of the two though it seems to waiver on what to do.

The orc that Vasch had wounded before things turned ugly pulls out another javelin and throw it at Vasch (hit: 26, damage: 5). One of the orcs had fallen to Kale's blade and it was out of the fight. The other orc snarls in Kale's face and launches another attack on him with it's falchion (hit: 25, damage: 8).

The two ogres coming down the middle split up as they see no real threats anywhere. The one ogre goes after Leets and due to his greater reach swings his club while staying out of range himself (hit: 22, damage: 18). The other ogre, that Flat-top had shot, heads to confront Toros and Gecktar. It also stops and uses it's greater reach to take a swing at Gecktar (hit: 23, damage: 17).

The two spellcaster orcs move forward as they finish off their spells or sort of. The one orc finds that his spell is no longer there as he tries to finish it, he had lost it in the attack. The other orc gets his spell out though it is not apparent what spell he cast.

The rest of the seven orcs slowly move into striking positions further down towards The Chosen.

With his opponent out of range, Leets will fight defensively while moving to the right side of the battlefield. He hope it will force the orcs to run under Flat-Top's and Brahmah's arrows...

"Fall back!" Yells the leader, hearing the druids call.

Thinking to Zeoll and Kale, "Can either or both of you make it to the casters?! One of the them might be the leader."

Brahmah is not thrilled at what has transpired here today, but THIS time, the Chosen hadn't made many mistakes.
The enemy was ready.
But how? The flare? Did the scout make it back or have a spell on him that allowed for information to transfer quickly? Oh well. We'll never know for sure.

Still using the tree for cover, Brahmah fires again at the same ogre(Qa/Pd?)(Bless, hitting AC 24 and 9, 8 and 8 damage)

Toros reaches out and touches his friend, Gecktar, and heals him of some of the damage that the ogre inflicted on him He stays where he is at as Gecktar makes no move to retreat but continue to go toe-to-toe with the ogre.

Leets beats a retreat as he takes a strike from the ogre that had moved in on him. It is evident that on his own he is no match for the ogre. He hopes that the others can hit it with missile fire as well as the orcs as he moves back. Managarm blinks out to appear behind the ogre again and takes another bite out of the things leg. It only seems to enrage the ogre further.

Zoell steps back to give himself some distance to work with and pulls out a small rod. He hits the orc before Kanchana with a spell and waits to see its effects. He is happy to see the orc double over as it gives off what can only be perceived as laughter.

Gecktar finds himself facing off against a single ogre, but that is more than enough for him. He drops his bow at his feet as he is struck with the ogre's club and pulls out his own hammer. He strikes the ogre hard as possible as he watches the rest of the creatures close in.

Brahmah mentally files it away to have a talk with Vasch at a later time about his actions. He pulls back and fires off a pair of arrows at the ogre that he had shot earlier. The first arrow slams into the ogre but the second goes bouncing off the things armor. Pah'caw under her master's orders swoops down on the caster to the left. Her claws strike true and she takes the time to peck at his eyes before starting back up.

Flat-top fires off another bolt but this time into the ogre that is following Leets. He then drops his crossbow and starts to draw his morningstar as he moves to come up alongside Leets.

Vasch has made no attack yet. His attack will be added if he gets it in before the end of the day.

Kanchana pulls out the smaller of her wands and hits Zeoll with some healing. She finds that in the heat of the battle he is less hurt than she had first thought. This is a relief as far as she is concerned.

Kale shrugs and then slips around behind Vasch to get in a flanking position on the orc that is attacking Vasch. His sword slips in between the things back ribs and through his armor. The orc convulses and then slips to the ground as Kale pulls out his sword with a smile.

The two entangled orc continue to struggle in the sparse grass and still cannot get enough leverage to pull free. The orc that was able to get free continues the chase after the two retreating taurs. It pulls up within range of Kanchana and had been just ready to attack her when it fell into a fit of laughter. The ogre just smiles as it pulls up within its own range for an attack. It swings a mighty swing at Kanchana as she is trying to back off (hit: 25, damage: 12).

The injured orc pulls out its last javelin and throws it at Vasch (hit: 16, damage: 5). The orc that had decided to attack Vasch suddenly finds itself flanked and then dying from inflicted wounds. The other orc takes a step forward on Vasch and take a swing at him with his falchion (hit: 26, damage: 11).

An a stubborn ogre continues his chase after a retreating Leets and takes another swing at him as he draws near (hit: 17, damage: 24). The other ogre grunts under the assault from Gecktar, but seems to be little effected as it retaliates with a swing of its own (hit: 23, damage: 16).

The spellcaster on the left finds himself slumping to the ground as an eagle slams into his face. As the eagle starts to fly away, you can see a half torn up bloody mess where the orc's face used to be. The other orc smiles as his spell finally goes off as he releases it. There is a loud explosion in the air by Pah'caw, who is fourty feet in the air, as a sound burst goes off near her (damage: 6, Fort check 18 or be stunned for one round).

The rest of the seven orcs move even further down and they are not well within striking distance of many of The Chosen.

Thursday May 27th, 2004 9:35:43 PM

Once again Kanchana is not going to be a fool and withdraws. ([Withdraw action, PHB p143]Straight back as far as she can move, as fast as she can move. Another 80ft?) As she withdraws she sheathes her lesser healing wand.
Just after she is hit badly and decides to withdraw again Kanchana says to Zeoll in Wemic, "I need to leave here. I cannot take another blow like that. You might do likewise, or be left here alone! I worry for your safety." Kanchana certainly sounds as bad as she feels.
Next chance she gets she will draw her greater wand of healing and apply it to herself. The druidess certainly does not look very well, she is also feeling dizzy and sick from the internal bleeding the ogre's blow caused.

Kanchana notes with extreme dismay that the Chosen still do not really fight as a team; just as she feared would happen. She suddenly feels a strong sense of impending doom; if and when, they face off against the dragon offspring.
She frets over how the others must be faring. She is beginning to feel overwhelmed and inadequate again. Kanchana is very worried that someone will die here. She discovers that she often worries and thinks that that might happen. She realizes that she needs to get a chance to draw a weapon and contribute to combat, or offer healing to any injured Chosen that she might come across, if they are to come away from this without having to face Gargul again! Kanchana feels even more sick and weary when she thinks about Gargul.

(Next chance she gets, CSW wand 1 charge, heals 19pts on herself.)

Toros 41-41 HP, 22 AC
Thursday May 27th, 2004 10:00:09 PM

Watching the improvement of enemy Toros asks these as if talking to himself:

where should Gecktar and I move to regroup, to the side of Brahmah and others or that of Kale and Vasch, they may be in need of help...

why they couldnt use entangle to stop the movement of these orcs, they just come in front of us...

Zeoll (bless, message, inspire courage, AC15, HP31 of 36)
Friday May 28th, 2004 12:37:14 AM

Zeoll sees the mass of orcs in the middle and really wishes he had another Entangle to cast. But he senses Kanchana's worry and decides to lift the group's spirits. He takes a five foot step back to be out of the ogre's reach and sings as he draws his greatsword.

Come Chosen and rrally! To honorr! To arrms!
Now gatherr togetherr and make us a stand!
Have courrage! Ignorre all yourr fearrs and alarrms!
Come fight! And we'll win now as Domi's fairr band!

[OOC: Bardic Inspire Courage gives everybody a +1 to attack and damage. Does not stack with Bless, unfortunately, but since bless gives no damage bonus, the bard song adds that, anyway.]

Brahmah smiles, as he sees Pah'caw's orc's bloody mass crumple. "That's my girl." He thinks.

Thinking to Kale and Zeoll, "Keep me updated! It's getting ugly down here."

The minotaur considers his position, relative to the others. He debates, ever so briefly. Thinking to himself, This whole thing is wrong, the orcs... the ogres... seemed prepared for everything.

Seeing Leets, Managarm and Flat-top with the ogre, Brahmah decides it's time for a strategy change.
He shifts his attacks toward the ogre(Sa/Xd) in the rocks, chasing Zeoll and Kanchana. Fires, twice.
(Hitting AC 11 and 24 threat(crit 17), for 9 and 7(crit 16)).

Gecktar (AC20 hp 16)
Friday May 28th, 2004 5:47:40 AM

One more time the giant strikes hard on the armor of Gecktar. Even the cover of the tree don't help this time.
He suddenly realizes that they will be separated from the rest of the Chosen if they don't move immediatly.
"Toros ! We must join the other ! Let's move now !"

He will withdraw from the fight and move with Toros (if Toros moves) to go by the side of Brahmah.
He will wait for Toros. So if he don't move, Gecktar will stay side by side with him.

When Withdrawing Gecktar retrieves his shield.

Toros HP (41/41) AC (22)  d20=3 d20=11 2d6(4+6)=10
Friday May 28th, 2004 7:41:22 AM

For one second Toros will think to move towards left side, worrying about Vasch and Kale, but he is not that much capable of determining their situation, from where he stands (spot, d20, 3 +5, 8). Thus obeying the call of Gecktar he will start to move toward Brahmah. However, while he moves backward he still faces the orc and ogre, and he will place one more arrow to his longbow. When he come next to the tree at line W he will stop for a moment, target the other spellcaster at Ga-Pd and make his shot. Motivated by Zeoll's inspiring poem and Leet's blessing prayers he hopes that Gods will be on his side and he will be lucky enough to hit the spellcaster; he knows that this time his shoot is not as good as his previous one. (d20, 11 +6, 17) (damage, 2d6, 10 +1 = 11). After his shoot he will quickly retreat with Gecktar towards right-hand side.

However rather than going next to Brahmah, Toros will move behind the tree at level Z (I am sorry that this means to be out of map), he still hopes to make another shoot, before the orcs can catch him.

Kanchana (addendum/correction)
Friday May 28th, 2004 8:20:40 AM

Kanchana withdraws from (down) X (across) U to (down) U (across) Y (near to Brahmah) moving a total of 35ft. Avoiding all orcs and ogres in the process of her withdrawal.

Friday May 28th, 2004 10:00:14 AM

(OOC: Sorry about missing yesterdays post, computer issues.)

With heavy weezing in his voice Vasch says, "Fall back...Kale." Vasch bears down low to the ground and make a great leap back away from the fighting, landing in Q/E, and finishing his move in V/E. He will then reach for a potion.

Toros follows along with Gecktar as he retreats but stops long enough to fire off an arrow at the last remaining spellcaster. His arrow slams into the orc who has turned his attention to Pah'caw.

Leets to be added later along with a post for Managarm.

Zoell moves back to get himself out of the ogre's range. He starts an inspiring song about The Chosen and how they can win the day. In the process he draws his greatsword and prepares to do battle.

Gecktar can see that they will soon be cut off from the rest of the group. He comments on this to Toros and then moves away from the current combat that he is engaged in. He comes to stop by Brahmah and prepares to continue the good fight.

Brahmah decides to change his game plan and turns, firing off two arrows at the ogre that is pursueing Kanchana and Kale. His first arrow flies wide of the ogre but he second buries into the things leg, but only slows it for a second. Pah'caw post to be added when I have one.

Flat-top post to be added after a question is asked by the DM.

Vasch makes several small leaps that puts him a good distance from the orcs that he and Kale were fighting. He reaches into a pouch and retrieves a potion that he plans to drink next round.

Kanchana pulls back even further to Brahmah's side and pulls out her bigger healing wand. She is not feeling all that great after the ogre's clubbing blow.

Kale is about to comment about the retreat of Vasch and then just shrugs it off. He fires off an arrow at the healthy orc and then retreats to stand before Vasch. His arrow is true and drives itself through the orc to end with over half of it sticking out it's back.

The two entangled orcs still cannot find the leverage to break free of the grasses and they are getting tired. The orc continues to have a fit of laughter caused by the spell from Zeoll. The ogre steps forward and takes a swing at a singing Zeoll (hit: 26, damage: 14).

The injured orc pulls out it's falchion and moves after the retreating Vasch and Kale, it does not look too well. There are three dead orcs still in the rough area on the left side.

The ogre takes another swing at Leets as he gets reinforcements from some of the other Chosen (hit: 24, damage: 13). The other ogre moves down to where he could possibly cut Toros off from the rest of The Chosen to the right.

The orc by Managarm takes a swing at the dog as it stands guard for his master (hit: 29*crit27*, damage: 9*crit12*).

One spell caster is dead, clawed to death by Pah'caw. The other spellcaster pulls out a falchion of his own and moves towards the bird.

The last seven orcs start splitting up to engage The Chosen directly. Kale finds himself engaged by one of the orcs as it moves over to hit him (hit: 23, damage: 14). Vasch also finds himself being assaulted by another orc (hit: 19, damage: 13). Toros finds two of the orcs have come up beside him as he hides behind the tree, both of them try to skewer him on falchions (hit: 16, damage: 8 / hit: 30*crit22*, damage: 9*crit15*). Brahmah finds himself with an orc at his own door as he looks over the situation of the others (hit: 15, damage: 11). Gecktar looks up in time to see an orc close on him as well with a drawn sword, that is soon swinging at him (hit: 17, damage: 10). The last two of the seven orcs flank Flat-top where he stands to aid Leets, both cut at him with a ferocity unknown to some (hit: 17, damage; 10 / hit: 28, damage: 13).

(Vasch, I think you can drink your potion as a part of the previous round, Jim has let you to add your missed post to the previous round!?! )

Toros is very happy to see that his arrow also has found its place at the second spellcaster. Hiding behind the tree he thinks he has found a secure place away from the Ogre and the orcs at least for a short time. Using this time, he tries to evaluate the situation. (7+5 = 12, spot check). Then he tries to understand why the Chosen has not used "entangle" to stop the approach of orcs. He comes up with the conclusion that there is not enough vegetation (d20 + 5, 12<DC14 to realize there is enough grass to entangle the orcs).

Then he notices that all the orcs are spread to confront one Chosen. He wants to go to the help of Vasch but he is also attacked by two of them, and he realizes that the approaching ogre is most likely to attack him, too.

The attack of the first orc is ineffective but that of second finds its target on Toros. Fortunately the tree protects him from getting a critical damage.

He tries to maintain his composure (will save against 18 < D20, 19 + bonuses) and retreats further towards the other Chosen. As in the previous round he will move 2 steps back, facing his opponents, and placing one more arrow to his longbow. Then he will send one more arrow to the remaining spellcaster. This time his sight is open and Toros knows that he made a good shot that can find its place inside the orc's armor(18+6, 24 against 17, damage 6+1 = 7, total damage of the two arrows on the spellcaster is 18hp).

After his shot, he will move backward from under where Gecktar stands, staying away from any AoP. He will come to the square of ZzVd.

Glancing toward the spellcaster, Brahmah realizes that his feathered friend is in peril. He screeches out to her. "Pah'caw! The dark one! It approaches!"

AoAAs he finishes speaking to his friend, he notices how small the orcs actually are up close. He smiles, teeth bared.
Bow in hand, the mintaur looks at it and then at the orc. Sliding his hand down the length of the bow in a single fluid motion, and with no hesitation, he grabs it with his other hand and swings with all his might.
(Using the longbow like a club, Brahmah swings with intent on the orcs head(Xa/Rd), with both hands, base melee, +bless, +damage from inspire, Hitting AC 29, for 17 damage)

Full Round
Brahmah drops the broken bow, simotaneously drawing his Falchion and Kukri (move action drawing both light/one handed, two weapon style).

He then head butts the same orc, using his horns (standard single attack,(AC 23 for 13 damage, magic/inspired horns)).

If the orc fall his chest broken under the impact and probably lungs perforated, Gecktar will do the following

Taunt the ogre so it doesn't take Toros as target "Come on mummy ! You're as nimble as a mountain and maybe as strong as human wizard ! Let face your doom with me and feel the wrath of domi on you bones !"

Saying that he knows that another strike from the ogre will probably put him out of fight. So he takes his CSW wand and apply it to him regaining much energy. He then ready himself to engage the ogre.

She repeats that particular action once again, except this time she draws her scimitar afterwards and slips its lanyard around her wrist. Kanchana grips her scimitar tightly. She waits as she surveys the battlefield (looking for Chosen who obviously need healing, or for anyone needing assistance).

The druidess watches everything begin to unravel, seemingly the Chosen are losing this battle. 'too disorganized, not a team... too disorganized' she thinks dejectedly. She feels her willpower ebbing.

Kanchana yells to Leets (in Tauric of course), "Darn language! I said REGROUP not retreat! That means quit meandering around and come together as a group to protect eachother!" Kanchana is in no way angry, she is only yelling to make herself heard.

The wavering and tired she-wemic looks over at Flat-top and gives him a weary smile. "I think I am fine... I am fine now; for however long that might last. Do you need any healing? Are you alright Flat-top?" Kanchana asks her last question with more than a hint of worry in her voice.
She is beginning to outwardly show small signs indicating her declining will to keep on 'fighting'.

Once again Kanchana surveys the battlefield and sees that they are not doing all too well. Kanchana sees a lot of blood caked on some of her comrades. In the back of her mind she wonders how much of it is their own?

Watching and hearing all the battlefield from behind Toros rages (+2 str. and con. - AC) with anger, if not fear. With full concentration and adrenalin he takes one step, chooses his target (The orc in X down R aross) and sends his arrow, hoping it to be a last deadly blow. Then he drops his bow, and takes his glaive on his hands. And readies himself for the next attack (spot d20, 16+5, 21). But what happens to all these orcs and ogres, they suddenly fall and disappear!!

All the orcs fall to the ground around Vasch and Kale. "By Tomi!" Better take advantage of this.

Vasch moves up to the standing orc and swings his sword at the standing orc while keeping up his guard.

He swings but his sword glances harmlessly off the orc's armor.

[No replies to Kanchana's surveying the Chosen for injuries, so...]
Quickly regaining her wits she moves to assist either Leets or Zeoll if necessary; since no one seemed to look seriously injured to her - just covered in rapidly coagulating blood.
She still has her scimitar readied.

OOC:Toros You ask me 3 question on my play, here's my answer.
Keep in mind that this is DM Jim story and he has given me an out line of what I have to bring the story to and time table on which to bring you people there.
#1- If the orc is an illusion you cannot harm it. It's an allusion.
#2- The real orc have a saving throw. you see you had 2 illusion orcs and one real one.
#3- If you got hit by an Illusion and you think the orc is real, than you add the damages(but the DM does not tally the hit points against you)
Now if all of you can still see the illusion orcs (no matter if they are moving), that means that the magic user is still alive (No matter how low the his hit points are) right now only Zeoll knows this.
Also you didn't tell me where you are on the map. Seeing that you used a d8 die, you have to have made body contack with that oger. Since you used a d8 you are using a sword of some kind?? Expect a suprise.
Any more question??

Kanchana watches the still wounded Leets charge off into combat again. She looks plainly shocked that he ran off to get beat on without getting at least a little more healing. With all of the blood everywhere it is increasingly more difficult for Kanchana for see just how badly off her comrades are. 'If I even live to become as old as my parents I will never ever really understand warriors!'
Kanchana watches numbly as the broken and bloodied arrow falls to the ground in front of her. She takes a 5ft step back and readies her CLW wand. The Druidess holds her arms up to Pah'caw hoping that the eagle will understand that she wants her to come. Kanchana speaks calmly to Pah'caw: "come to me Pah'caw. Come here and I will help you as well." She tries to show Pah'caw through bady language that she wants to help and means well.

Toros... not all large sized creatures have reach, thats a misconception. :) The Wold site also very clear whether they allow reach for Taur races as a house rule. So I looked up the info in the PHB.

Centaurs have 10ft/5ft base(due to their body length, quadreped), no reach.

Wemic/liontaurs have a 10ft/5ft base(due to their body length, quadreped), no reach.

Minotaurs have a 10ft/10ft base(due to their height and general girth, they have reach.

It slows down But attack anyway. He uses his Morning Star twice for 21hp of damages. (On the other oger)

Vash takes his chance at the oger, seeing that Flat-top got hurt, He jabs at that ugly face doing 7hp of damages.

Leets is mad because Managram is not back yet, he swing his sword, spliting his helmet. Doing 8hp of damages, that was enough to kill the orc. Out of his pouch rolls a cystal orb the size of a med. grapfruit.

Toros will move in to attack Oger (at Ua/Qd), Jabs him doing 8 hp of damages.

Kanchana finally get the Eagle down from the tree, softly talking to her she cures the bird for all of her wounds.

Paw'caw is happy once again and rubs her head into Kanchana hand, almost like saying Thank you

Zeoll how cast magic sees six bodies almost transpatent, Six solid bodies( one leets just kiled Two who got out of the trap and one body that is next to the fire pit that's solid.

Now the ogers hits brahmah for ac22 for 22hp of damages, Next orger hit Flat-top for 12hp of damages, one of the two orc who were in the trap swings at Flat-top for 12hit points of damages. the last orc will attack in the next round

OK! Kiddies Do your worse, well at least try...LOL!

Ok, to deal with the HP discussion in that has broken out. I want to see AC and HP in the post name field, along with spells or other effects that on your character. If you cast a spell you can list that spell in your message area with duration but please put the spell name in your post name field as well. This allows for a DM to see exactly what is happening to his players and not have to dig through a lot of back posts to find it or check his notes every time. The HPs in the post name field I see as a way for a healer type to make a heal check to see how your character's health is going. So please be kind and put these things in your posts, thanks. ~~ Vacationing DM

The club momentarily knocks the wind out of Brahmah, causing him to faulter slightly, but he presses his attack on the same ogre (S across/T down).
(AC 32 crit threat(14 no crit), 24, 17(miss) and 22... for 12, 7, 0(miss) and 7 damage)
(Totaling 26 damage.)
Again, some attacks swing wide, missing critical openings in the ogres armor... but still landing a vital blow or two.

He probably missed striking the ogre when the half dead Leets pasted into view of Brahmah. He shakes his in annoyance of his friends noble effort to help in combat, but also grins at the young centaurs eagerness.
'That'll get a young taur killed!' He thinks, Zeoll and Kale may hear this too.

Kanchana heals the wounded Pah'caw with a touch of the CLW wand. "you're welcome Pah'caw." Kanchana smiles as Pah'caw rubs her head against Kanchana's hand and then assists the eagle in getting airborn again.

Pah'caw will have to clean all the blood out of her feathers before she can fly well again.

Kanchana's stomach feels like it is tied in knots when she thinks of Leets. She knows that he is still badly wounded. She slides the first wand into her forearm-sheath and pulls out a new wand.
Kanchana will move over to where Leets is standing after Pah'caw has flown back up into the trees to preen the blood out of her feathers. The she-wemic has her wand in hand, and her scimitar hanging from its lanyard around her wrist.

Next chance she gets Kanchana will heal Leets by touching the CSW wand to him. ((This will only be carried out as an action if I get confirmation that Leets is at 11HP!))

(Heals Pah'caw 6HP, Heals Leets 25HP)

((OOC - IMPORTANT: I presume that Leets is down to 11HP out of a total of 40HP, i.e. seriuosly wounded. If he is only missing 11HP (i.e. 29/40HP)I need to know very quickly, because that only warrents the use of a CLW wand!))

I have made some guesses on the placements for the group. Things are a little hectic and I am not sure if you are placed right. If a placement seems incorrect then add an attachment to your post to let me know.

I would also like to point out the ogre that is off to the side of the group in the rocks. Is it dead or just standing around doing something dumb. For an ogre that would be appropriate but not battle wise.

Gecktar then move to the back of Kale (Qh Rv) staying out of the reach of the ogre and use his wand of Cure Serious on him (heal 26hp to Kale)

MY My My we were busy this week-end.

Brahmah swing, hit the orger, thn has to duck missing a hit, but all in all he does alot of damages on the oger.

Kale hits the orger and give him the fatal stab in the back.

Flat-top hit his orger and he staggers.

Leets give the final blow to the orc in frount of him.

Zeoll Still looking around sees that the illusions are solid now and rising andheading toward Kanchana. he also spots an orc(Pa/Gd) sneeking for the rocks, He's still alive.

Kanchana has just release Paw'caw and now healed Leets.

Varch notices movements of some of the dead orc are now moving.

Toros want to check the tents and spots an orc sneeking towards the rock.

Paw'caw preem her feathers and now ready to fly...

Now The orc near the fire pit and the tents is badly hurt, he's trying to sneek away without being seen, if he could only make it to the cliffs and rock.

The oger#2 after fighting with the Chosen, he finally takes the final blow and drops dead falling towards Brahmah, But his body missing him only by inches.

Oger#3 is bleeding and a little mad, He yells "Ogzits Brggzust!". He jabs Flat-top with his javalin, Hurting Flat-top for 15 hp.

The two orc that were trap are now Surounding Flat-top, they both Have javelins (attact 19 miss & ac20 bearly missinf him)

But out of the rock rises a third Oger(we'll call him oger#1) at Wa/Td, rubbing his eyes, look like he was napping. He yells back "Yoh! Hogert!" has a rock in one hand. Throws it at Kanchana, it was close But he misses her.

Now the bodies that you though were odd looking are now rising and going to suround Kanchana.

He screeches one final command to Pah'caw to finish off the "dark ones that sparkle".

Finally, he steps upto the ogre (Sa/Ud) and attacks, blades twist and whirl over the minotaurs head.
He cuts into the ogre with two harsh, vertical strokes, one with the kukri, the other with the falchion, the falchion digging deep into a chink in the armor causing blood to pour onto the blade.

Maybe we can get information from this one...

With any luck Kanchana spots; from the corner of her eye, the seemingly dead enemies getting up and moving towards her. The Warden is no fool so she tries something she has never done before.

Kanchana burns her only 2nd lvl spell and spontaneously casts Summon Nature's Ally II. Kanchana choses to summon 3 creatures instead of just one. She decides to summon three wolves to her aid. The wolves will attack immediately upon Kanchana's turn.

Kanchana slides her wand in the forearm sheath and prepares to defend herself. Kanchana hopes that the wolves do a go job with their defense. The flying rocks make her antsy.

(See pg 283 MM 3.5 for stats on wolves, see pg 288 PHB 3.5 for Summon Nature's Ally II, see PHB 3.5 pg 139 for decsription of free actions. Now I'm a little confused, Here's the way I see it...

Brahmah is about to get hit by the oger in frount of him. He slices into him doing 37hp of damages. but still stagering on his feet...

Kale come from behind of this oger(With the club in hand, ready to strick Brahmah!)Kale strike him his fatal blow. Smiling at the body as it goes down.

Toros (Sorry the orc made his save, but you did scare him out of 2hp) gets buzzed by Paw'caw and that throws you off.

Flat-top attack hit his enermy very badly (for 20hp), but does not die.

Leets hits the same oger(for 9hp), the orger staggers, dies and falls toward Flat-top and hit him a glancing blow doing 10hp of damage.

Varch starts to go the the escaping orc but thinks better of it. Insted he will face the orc facing him hitting him for 9hp of damages.

Zeoll run and attack the orc in frount of Flat-top but slips on a lose rock, Sending himself off ballance, but misses the orc altogether.

Kanchana Call on her spells and bring fort three big wolves, But who do they attack? the only enermy they see is this oger throwing rocks and ahlf dead orc facing Varch, they want to attack something they wait for orders??(you didnot make it clear as to who to attack, Sorry)

The Shawman runs for the coveer of the rocks (beyond Za?Gd,off the map)

the orc in frount will attact Flat-top (AoA) hit ac 27 - damage 10hp on Flat-top.

The oger like the way that he is scaring Kanchana and will throw another big roch at her, attack ac 24, doing damages of 13hp.

The somewhat flattened she-wemic takes a 5ft step in Flat-top's direction (Unless there are enemies between herself and Flat-top. She is not dumb enough to step into range of a new enemy! I have given up reading Jim's map, it is too confusing now.). She readies her scimitar in case she needs to defend herself against enemies closer by than the rock-pelting ogre.

Kanchana has no clue what this illusion and dead/not-dead orc (very confusing) mess is but the three wolves were summoned to defend her from the now mobile; appearently weird, orc bodies trying to surround her. Consider the wolves more bodies to take the brunt of the damage from the orc enemies instead of herself. The ogre obviously is an entirely different matter!

The wolves will attack the three enemies trying to surround Kanchana, if they cannot see these enemies then they will attack the enemy/enemies that is/are in range and which is most likely to try and attack Kanchana, or shows intent to attack Kanchana or themselves only.

The wolves will not defend anyone else unless Kanchana somehow manages to tell them to do so.

Kanchana is not able to speak with animals in their own tongue at the moment.

(Wolves attack and damage: Hits AC: 16, 16, 19; Damage: 2, 5, 6.
If a wolf is successful with it's bite attack then it also gets to trip the enemy (free action without having to make a touch attack, no AoO is provoked).)

((ADM post: "Monday June 7th, 2004 7:03:53 AM: Now the bodies that you though were odd looking are now rising and going to suround Kanchana." This is what the wolves will attack.))

Brahmah move to check the body of the dead sharman at(La/Gd). when he spots the battle between Paw'caw and the second sharman(in yhe boulders and cliff)

Toros is mad at the rock throwing oger. He's not only mad BUT down right raging mad. He attacks with his cleave, he hits the Orger in the adam's apple, Doing damage (of 51hp). the orger staggers but does not drop down.

Kanchana patiently tells the wolves; as best she can through wild empathy, that the quadripeds and the bull-faced creatures are friends - the big rock throwing creature and any pig-faced creatures are dangerous enemies and need to be attacked.

(Heal check 26, Spot 17, Wild Empathy 22)

((Important! Ceil I stated that if the wolves could not see those three orcs that are/were trying to surround Kanchana then they would attack the next nearest enemy threat(s) to her alone that they could see. Use the rolls from my previous post against any immediate (to the wolves) visible threat against Kanchana. Therefore the wolves would not be snapping at thin air! If the ogre is the only obvious enemy left then the wolves will attack it.))

OOC: I know dear but I have a time table to keep, I'm giving you the credit now. I did not forget you or I notice your play.

Brahmah went to Check the Shaman? Whitch one? there was two of them? And you were Close to either one of them. So If you look at both bodies this is what you find on them,
Sharman #1; A Glass globe (the size of a grapfruit, a bag of white powder and six copper coins.

Sharman #2; A smash glass globe (shartered in the fall, a bird seed rattle and one silver coin and three copper coins.

Geckar heals Flat-top (who is greatful)

Toros is so happythat he dances a jig and that's not easy when you have four paws, but that's the first time I see a liontaur doing the Irish jig.

Kale feel lucky and shoot a arrow at the raging Oger, Hits his foe foe 8hp of damages, (the orger is now staggering)

Kanchana points to the oger, showing the confused wolves the other enerny. The wolves tear into him, doing him in. They disappe when the oger dies and they are no longer needed.

Leets shoot an arrow at the oger , but the oger is in the motion of falling toward Flat-top. He bearly misses that oger.

Flat-top steps outof the way of the falling Oger. The look at Kanchana and vows never to make her mad. "So Help Me DOMI"

Zeoll serches all the bodies of the enermies (except of course the two that Bramah serch) he uses magic (I hope I get this right) to find magic?? Well here is what he finds;

On the orc he finds six more of those glass heavy globes (Not magic), four Falcons and four Javelin for weapons, eight Chainmail for armor. Nothing else.

Oger #1 a Magic Potion of Charm Person in a vile with ametal stopper that stinks (really bad). this is the one when Kale killed him the oger Called out his beloved name"Glichoggie!"
Great Club +1 for a weapon, a Hide Armor +1 and a ring of Protection +1.

Oger #2 five silver coins, nine copper coins and a metal tooth pick (Not magic). A javerelin for a weapon, Hide Armor +1 and a Ring of Protection +1.

Oger #3 two gold coins, four silver coins, six copper coins and a mirror on a chain. (all have some blood on them. A Great Club +1 for a wapon, Hide Armor +1 and a Ring of Protection +1.

Varch is looking for a trail or some thing.

Thursday June 10th, 2004 10:52:21 AM

(OOC: I emailed you about which shaman.. I didn't want to private post it.
I also never said I was 'searching' anyone, I said I was surveying the scene for wounded, dead or other enemies or Chosen.)

Active Spells-
Message(Zeoll): 1 min, 4rnds (Brahmah, Zeoll and Kale)
Bless(Leets)[+1 morale to attacks and saves vs fear]: 1 min 3rnds(party)

Brahmah will now search the tents for survivors or other information he might find.
Brahmah wouldn't know what was magical or not, so alot of the knowledge of the items alludes him.
"We should gather the bodies and put them somewhere. The tents, if dismantled, might come in handy. I personally wouldn't mind a large tent for myself.")

(I'm assuming that the ogre's weapons and armor are large sized and the orcs items are medium sized?)

Zeoll
Thursday June 10th, 2004 1:53:41 PM

Zeoll concentrates to Detect Magic on the bag of white powder and the bird seed rattle -- are they magic?

Zeoll organizes all the things he has gathered, plus the stuff Brahmah picked up, if that's okay. His magic reveals IF they are magic (yes or no) but does NOT tell the kind of magic.

Then Zeoll casts a Prestidigitation cantrip to clean up his friends and the gear they have gathered. Here is the loot he puts together.

NOT MAGIC

seven heavy glass globes (each the size of a grapefruit)
four medium falchions
four medium javelins
eight suits of medium chain mail
one large javelin
metal tooth pick
mirror on a chain

24 cp, 10 sp, 2 gp

MAYBE MAGIC?
bag of white powder

3 Large Bipedal Hide Armors [OOC: +1]
3 Rings [OOC: +1 Protection]

Zeoll asks his friends, "Arre we going to attack the drragons today? If so, I need healing. Is the drragon nest nearrby? Wherre the heck arre we, anyway?"

Kanchana (31/44HP, AC 19)
Thursday June 10th, 2004 7:59:28 PM

"I certainly hope that we can rest up before moving on. Too many of us need to rest and heal. We are simply not fit to travel too far today, nevermind fighting dragons!"
Kanchana hopes that there will be others who support her view.
"I say we salvage what we can from the dead and then find a suitable place to camp." She feels as bad as she looks, and it is beginning to show. She sheathes her scimitar and sits down for a breather before doing anything else.
Kanchana will not help heal anyone or help with the treasure until she feels calmer again.

((I didn't intend to sound rude, upset or mean Ceil. Forgive me if I sounded rude, upset or mean. I was just trying to clear things up on my end just in case my posts were vague and messy.))

Flat-top
Thursday June 10th, 2004 8:07:46 PM

He jokes with Kanchana, He laugh "Your getting good, Yes I'm proud of you." Then Flat-top spot Zeoll comming their way, counting the things he pick up and counting the coins.
"Hail! Zeoll! Let's see what you pick up Your Old Liontaur, Hmmm! We can sell the weapons, the armor Is nothing I would ware, What is this white powder?" Flat-top opend the packet and stick his finger in the powder, then into his mouth, "Pawtooie!!" Flat-top spits it out, "Cornstarch". He look over the treasure some more then spots the rings " Look! Kachana a ring for you??" He smiles at her some more.
"How much gold did these dumb one have? Hmmm! how odd for a bunch of orc and ogers, they did have alot of coins??" Flat-top look at the coins, "Some of these coins don't look right??"

Toros
Friday June 11th, 2004 12:01:14 AM

"Hey, do not forget these as well"

Saying these, Toros will provide all the stuff it collected from the four orcs they killed previously. (OOC: Jim was waiting for confirmation for the treasure at that time)

Then he will travel around the battlefield to get his longbow, any reusable arrows and a memory from the ogre for his tattoo bag. Then he will help Brahmah in searching of the tents.

Well! you vanquesh all the enermy.

Toros want Zeoll to know the items that he has taken off the enermy he vanquest.

Varch has a skip in his steps (and that's tough to do with paws), as he pick up his sword and look for a trail that will take them to the Red Ones. None that he can see, looks like you'll have to double back as to the part of the trail you came from.

Kale once he found out that the rings are magic, he makes it known that he would like one. It would look nice on his finger.

Brahmah examins the tents, they are all empty and nothing inside is usefull. The eight small tents are in disrepair, they will not bring any value in the Catacumbs. The five larger tents are more useful to you, they are in good repair and just right for Minotaurs and Weinic. They are so odd that they will not be worth for anything. Be happy your bow is alright.

Kanchana is hurt and tired She what to crawl in one of the large tents and takes a nap. which she deserves.

Flat-top puts a hand on Kanchana shoulder, mumbles a few words, healing her for 9hp of damages. Flat-top look over Zeoll's shoulder at the treasure at hand, but there's something odd about some of the coins??

Geckar and Leets They gather around Zeoll to see what Flat-tops is talking about but one coin look like any other to them??

Zeoll is all for going on the quest, When Flat-top comments made the rest of the party surrounds him, he cast a spell again but it come out the same as the last time he did it. The none magical items are still not magical, even the pack of white powder (Cornstarch) and the Bird Seed Rattle are none magical, even the coins are not magical.
The only magic items are the Great Club, the Hide Armor anf the three rings.
Zeoll shows all the items to everybody.

I wonder if someone will be smart enough to solve this puzzel??

Kale
Friday June 11th, 2004 10:17:53 AM

Friday June 11th, 2004 10:40:45 AM

Zeoll takes the suit of chainmail and four falchions from Toros, with thanks. He adds them to the loot.

[OOC: On May 6, DM Jim said, "Toros searches the three bodies and comes up with a few interesting things. He packs them away quickly and then follows the others ... [Getting approval on all the other treasure so be patient]." Ceil, do you know what those "few interesting things" are?]

Somthing about the coins strikes Zeoll as funny too. He looks at them to see what marks or images are on them -- but since he cannot read, he shows them to the other taurs.

He tries to remember if he ever saw anything like them before, or heard any stories. [OOC: Bardic Lore check 18]

Then he thinks about the other things. cornstarch. a rattle. a metal toothpick. a mirror on a chain. Hmmm.

Well, while he is pondering, Zeoll helps around the battlefield. He drags corpses off to one side, wrapped in shabby small tents. Then he wanders off alone for a while.

I recommend that everyone who is wounded gets some rest as well. Healing of anything less than serious wounds can wait til afterwards."
Kanchana takes time tend to the superifical wounds of everyone including herself before resting.

Kanchana will find the cleanest of the big tents and tend to her wounds before hopefully getting enough sleep to be refreshed enough to ask Mother Wold to replenish her spells.

When she has rested enough Kanchana will look at the puzzling items that the others have found.

Ready, No! Not yet?? Well take a nice rest (While you can)...

Kale chooses one of the biger tent and crawl in,(he is very tired)Going to sleep almost at once. dreaming of red DRAGONS.

Brahmah sits there out side (going to do first shift), he fells bad because Kanchana is not there to heal him. But when she does make him all better. His sprirt soars higher that Paw'caw can fly to hight of the sky.

Leets will lean on the wall (because Centaurs sleep on their hooves) and take a long nap.

Toros watches the coversation between Zeoll and Flat-top. He is gwetting intrested in the eye glass on a chain and those coins.

Varch will take a watch. But in the mean time will see if they can find some berries to pick.

Kanchana is flattered by what Flat-top said, but she's so tired that she passes on a kiss on the cheek. She chooses a large tent starts to enter it for a cat nap, but remembers that Brahmah is more than a little hurt. So true to her nature, she goes to Brahmah and cures him for most of his hit points. Then she goes for a well earned rest.

Gectkar seeing that Kanchana is very tired, will help with all the healing. When finish will take a well earned rest.

Flat-top watches Zeoll as he once again uses a spell in the coins and mirror.

Zeoll to make Flat-top happy he again cast a spell and once again there is no magic either the coins or the spy glass on a chain. But now Flat-top has a very sly smile on his face.

Now the sun is setting, and soon it will be dark.

Your turn!!!

Kanchana is going to get all the rest she can; especially since she needs to replenish her spells. She will not volunteer for any watches, but sort of expect that she will be woken up for watch if the others find it necessary.
If no one has any objections Kanchana would like to have one of those fancy rings.
She happily suggests that any medium sized, non-magical items be sold off rather than lugged around.
Kanchana doesn't have the slightest clue about the odd items that Flat-top and Zeoll are studying.

((Ceil, did the healing due to resting (see my previous note on this) help cure the wounds, or did Kanchana have to use the wand?
(Using a wand to heal when resting might work just as well is an emergency measure. After all wands are expensive to replace once they are used up!)
Please let me know if I have to remove charges from the wand Ceil. I need to know so I can update Kanchana's CS.
Oh, and shouldn't Gecktar have rolled a healing skill check to help Kanchana with her task?))

OOC from Ceil: No you did not use the wand, Just your soothing and healing hands will do. Your better than you think.

As the night progresses and the moon is hight in the sky, all is very very peaceful. Almost too peaceful. The guard are glad that there's no danger of big night animals or even small animals (like a mouse or two, even no owls). The guard on duty are somewhat on edge, because no night sounds means trouble?

The one on the tents are either snorting or purring. Then a shadow flies accross the moon, A big shadow. It's out line of a dragon and is gliding on a spiral pattern, Down... Down... it comes, It is getting bigger... And Bigger... It's a huge Red Dragon With something in it's claws. As the dragon come down to about 75 feet above the guards heads or above your tents. Now you can see every scale on her body, the evil in her eyes, and in her claws is dinner for her clutch. The victim is a mountain Giant (dead ofcourse), She glides around the mountain to the other side of the rocks and boulders, disaperring from view...

While on his turn on guard, he sees the great beast and remember what happened when he trieds to come close from a "good" dragon and don't want to imagine what will happen if he ever meet this one...
Even if Domi is always present in his heart he cannot goes against pure primal terror...

AAAH! I think I have your attention now!

The night passes slowly, Some are so tired that they don't even wake up, Some are ready to go to do the job, but too dangerious in the dark and some of you are still in shock at what went by.

It's almost dawn and the light is getting stronger now, there is a great schreek echoing around the mountain, as you see Mama Red climb to the top of the mountain (It's only a few hundred feet to the top). Once at the top of the mountain, she launches herself into the air, then makes a circle around the top and heads north. Then she's off hunting again.

Alright Kitties, Ponies and Calves, She gone for the day. See what a good heart I have, but i don't know when she'll be back?

Brahmah
Wednesday June 16th, 2004 7:02:29 AM

"Let's stay here for awhile and see if a pattern appears to her hunting cycle. I want to keep track of the time it takes for her to come and go a few more times."
He sticks a twig in the dirt and marks where the shadow is each time the Mama Red appears and departs. (Like a Sun Dial.) He's very patient watching for the mama red and the shadow or the twig.
If he seems to be making a mark at equal points around the stick, he considers that a pattern.

Flat-top
Wednesday June 16th, 2004 7:04:18 AM

Flat-top goes over to one of the tent, Yelling "Varch! Tell me that THIS is one of you Illusions, a trick to scare us. We'll make it go away!!" Flat-top Look up and see that the Big Red Dragon is now flying North ward." Them tell Varch(in a softer voice)"Thank You"

Flat-top trots back to the meeting.

Paw'caw
Wednesday June 16th, 2004 7:09:27 AM

Paw'caw stays on Brahmah shoulder, no matter what anybody says or do will make her move from that spot on his shoulder.

Kale
Wednesday June 16th, 2004 1:38:56 PM

Kale looks at Zeoll and Leets and says "If that thing is there when we get up there we can kiss ourselves goodbye. Do we have any way to make a fast exit if we have to?"

Zeoll
Wednesday June 16th, 2004 3:45:40 PM

Zeoll grins at Kale's comment. "Rright you arre, old pal! So that means we had betterr not get caught!"

"I've got no 'fast exit' spell, alas."

Seeing that Captain Brahmah seems ready to wait quite a while, Zeoll has two suggestions. "Brrahmah, if we wait forr herr to come back, that might mean hourrs orr days. And what if she discoverrs us when she rreturrns? My firrst suggestion is to go now, take advantage of herr absence and then get out. My second suggestion, if we arre to stay put, is hide among the trrees and get away from these tents. She flew only 75 feet overrhead beforre -- she could easily land and kill us all!"

"So I say, 'Go now orr hide!' "

Vasch
Wednesday June 16th, 2004 7:11:26 PM

Vasch wakes abruptly from his sleep with the shouting from Flat-top. "Varch! Tell me that THIS is one of you Illusions, a trick to scare us. We'll make it go away!!"

Vasch stubbles out of the tent still weary from the night. "WHAT are you talking about, my illusions? What is going on?" with a bewildered look on his face. "Hide??? Could some one please fill me in?"

The word dragon sends shivers to the very core of Vasch's soul. He quickly scans the area for a good place to hide.

That cursed gold said he would handle the mother...not good, not good, not good...

Vasch snaps out of his thought and looking to Brahmah he waits for some order to give direction to his clay paws.

Kanchana
Wednesday June 16th, 2004 9:04:57 PM

After Flat-top calls to Vasch Kanchana is certainly awake enough to get up and leave the tent.
"Illusion? What; whose illusion?"
Kanchana looks over at where the mama dragon was just recently flying. She frowns as she thinks things over and still finds this to be a fool's errand.
"I still think that even with the mother gone we shouldn't go through with this quest. The "reward" isn't that good! I do not think that we will have very good odds at surviving this whole thing."
Kanchana will wait to see what Brahmah councils the Chosen to do. While she waits she checks to make sure that her equipment is in place and secured. She wouldn't want to forget something here or be ill prepared.
Kanchana moves a little bit away from camp and 'communes with Nature' while praying for her daily alotment of spells.

Leets (Armored Pony)
Thursday June 17th, 2004 3:36:39 AM

Leets ponders Kale's words, and asks the others:

"Well, wasn't there something about the Gold One making the Big Red busy while we were doing our job, something like that???"

Adm Ceil
Thursday June 17th, 2004 9:34:25 AM

Hmmm! we have a conflick here??

Brahmah has a very good idea, Find out how far she has to go for food. Then makes a crude sundial...

Others want to forget the whole thing and go home...

Others prepare to hide, Trees?? Rocks?? a blade of grass??...

Zeoll want to do the job now! Before she comes back again, it seem to him that she is now brining bigger size food suppies for her young one. Because she has to go farther to get it....

Others are getting ready to go and fight...

Kanchana's thinking is sound, The job (as much as she dislikes it) has to be done or nothing will be left alive around these parts. She now prepares for a lot of healing to do...

I wonder what this band of Domi's pride will decide...

Go ahead and tell me what you want to do now??? Your Play.

Kale
Thursday June 17th, 2004 10:22:21 AM

Kale moves over to Zeoll and says "I agree with you. Lets get this over with as soon as possible."

Zeoll
Thursday June 17th, 2004 10:52:55 AM

Zeoll agrees with Kale and walks over to Brahmah, hopefully with Kale coming along. "Captain Brrahmah, of courrse the battle is yourrs to plan, but we think that it is betterr to sprring now than wait forr the adult to rreturrn."

"Do let's take advantage of this chance to get this rrisky mission over with rright now."

"But, um, since I was not arround when you decided to take this job, let me ask, arre we kidnapping the drragon pups alive orr killing them? Do we have to brring the bodies back? Do we have rropes or chains to bind them? Arre we seeking any drragon trreasurre as well? Do we have any info about the layout of the lairr, orr what to do to get in and out?"

Flat-top
Thursday June 17th, 2004 11:54:59 AM

Flat-top trots over to Brahmah, "Captain! I go along with anything you say. I'll be there right behind you."

Brahmah
Thursday June 17th, 2004 4:58:56 PM

"I want to know if Big Gold is ready to help like he said he would. If we somehow knew when the dragons were going to tussle, I'd be more sure when I want to go in. I have no plans to go in or fight when the Big Red is home! I don't want any of us to go in unless we're all sure about it. If one of us backs down in the middle of fighting, it could mean our whole group will die. We all have to be sure about this. I thought we had decided to do this? Was I wrong?"
The minotaur isn't upset or angry, just confused.

He looks back at his sundial.

Vasch
Thursday June 17th, 2004 5:36:05 PM

"Of course we're not sure about this. I didn't need to see it the looks on your faces enough, but that doesn't change the fact that to be able to go on the offensive against our enemies it must be done."

He looks at Kanchana and then to Zeoll. "I'm sorry, Kanchana, but I don't think we can relocate or use anything less than deadly force against those young. If the mother is as great as threat as the Gold says then we cannot allow the young to reach that point. I don't know anything about dragons and am not willing to take the chance."

Changing topics briefly, "Do we know how long before the army will arrive? 'Cause if we have the time, we should get into position gauge the time she is gone and then do the job. Otherwise we get into position and the next we see her leave make our move. I don't see any other options at this point."

Kanchana
Thursday June 17th, 2004 6:29:20 PM

Kanchana rolls her eyes in frustration. *sigh* "If we go in now without a plan we will be wyrmbait. I think Brahmah has the right idea to study the mother's time away from the cubs. Then we will have a general timeframe in which to complete our task."
She frowns at Vasch. "If you want to kill children then fine. It is your immortal soul you imperil, you will get no aid from me to kill cubs."
Kanchana has not considered that it might sound like she won't heal people, what she really meant was that she would not attack or kill any cubs; if it can be avoided at all. She is having a lot of trouble resolving personal issues about merely defending herself against the dragon cubs' possible attacks.

"Brahmah, the only one who truly did not agree with this task; to my knowledge, was myself." She adds a personal opinion to the debate about going about the task now or later. "Charging in now will be unwise and probably fatal. If we wait we have a chance to see what type of food mamma brings home. That would be knowledge that we might be able to use to our benefit."

Bad Zeoll (Making an illegal second post for the day)
Thursday June 17th, 2004 8:54:19 PM

Zeoll nods at this. "Yes, you make sense. But if we arre going to take the time to prreparre, let's do it rright. We need to scout the entirre arrea. We need to know the entrrances and exits frrom the lairr. We need to find out morre."

"And who werre these orrcs and ogrres with the rrounded boulderr symbol? Did they worrk forr the drragon?"

"I suggest that we take a few days, maybe a week, to obserrve, spy, and watch. We need a safe place to do that frrom. I suggest that we searrch forr animals who live arround herre. Using Speak With Animals we can find out morre. Maybe local bats know wherre we could find a cave in which to hide. Maybe wolves or foxes or other clever animals know about the drragon's rroutine."

"Kanchana, you and I arre drruids, but we do not have animal companions. (at least, not that I have seen.) We could take a day to summon animal frriends, who could aid in spying and fighting."

"We could think of otherr ways to get inforrmation and to fight. Rred drragons brreathe firre, rright? Do we have any cold spells to fight with?"

"What about fighting the drragon cubs? Surrely we would be betterr off taking them alive -- to use if we need to barrgain with the motherr. Or to give to this Gold Drragon to use as a leverr."

"But firrst we need to set up a secrret camp, ideally in a cave. We need to set up blinds frrom which to watch. We need to rrecrruit local animals forr info, surrveillance, and fighterrs. We need to Detect Snarres and Pits, and use other divinations."

"Otherr ideas?"

Brahmah, who is just as bad as Zeoll!
Thursday June 17th, 2004 9:20:58 PM

"This is why I'm sitting here, watching the stick. I'm devising a plan. Each mark in t he sand is a time when the mama arrives, then departs."

"I'm not worried about you Kanchana, you'll do what you must when you feel it's right. I too, don't like the fact babies are going to get killed, but they are inherently evil at their core. So I made a choice.
My goal is to protect those Children of Domi, the Unitaurs, and the best way is to follow the Golds suggestions.
I don't want to deal with dragons, period. They're dangerous, even the Good ones."

"Zeoll, Pah'caw can help you. I can speak to her and so can you." He smiles. "She's very friendly.
Zeoll, a week maybe too long, but I agree that observation is important."

"Kanchana, what was that wand Rathiniag gave us?"

He looks back at his sundial.

Adm Ceil
Friday June 18th, 2004 8:29:54 AM

Well we want to talk alright.

The dawn is about to brake, It is still dark. The sounds of cherping birds stops?? even the crickets stop their summer songs?? All is still-- Then there just like the last time, come this shadow of the dragon.

Only now you know who it is the RED. She starts this spirol down ward glide. Down down she come with in eighty feet above your heads (even thow you hiding behind trees) You duck your heads any way.

For those that look to see what kind food she is bringing to he clutch this time. It is a whale (an Orca) Black and white whale with bloody bite marcks on its head. She passes, riding the air curent to swoop up and disapper around the mountain again.

There you see her again, But how long will it take before she need more and more food? Will she thens go after the village people??? I wonder???

Your turn to talk about it.

Vasch
Friday June 18th, 2004 10:37:27 AM

"Save you self-rightousness! Keep your aid." He says to Kanchana. "What I care about are the two young and the survival of our people! Maybe you forget what we fight and bleed and die for. I have done them all and if those young dragons are price that has to be paid, so be it. And if that means my soul...i am willing to pay it..."

Vasch circles the camp area looking at each of the chosen in turn. "And let's forget, those "babies" ate a giant yesterday and a whale today. I don't think there is anything "baby" about them. This is going to be a fight whether you want one or not. So when the time come, you will need to decide, because if your not willing to take the neccessary actions then you are a liability to us all. Make no mistakes...this will be a fight."

Kale
Friday June 18th, 2004 11:08:39 AM

Kale sits back and listens to everyone argue about what they should and shouldnt do. "For once im not in the middle." Kale thinks to himself

Kanchana
Friday June 18th, 2004 5:55:02 PM

Kanchana actually has a sort of aloof look about her.
"Tsk, Vasch. You are obviously not thinking. You will die. Again. Due to your rash actions. Pity."
Kanchana pauses in thought.
"I was commanded by Gargul himself to see to the Chosen's welfare. Something I try to do as best I may. Also I suppose that you forget that many thought our wards were born evil; or was it tainted? You really should think before you speak."
As she decides that she really doesn't have time to argue with a 'blood-thirsty battle-monger' she says,
"realize that I have an even higher duty. Mother Wold reguards life higher than death, but you don't care one wit do you? You need to curb your blood-lust. Incedently it is your lack of forethought that is the liability not my right to not take the lives of children."
Kanchana senses that she is becoming rather annoyed with people who seem to think that the stroke of a sword is the answer to every 'problem'.

She turns to Brahmah and answers his question.
"Brahmah it will help us resist flames."
Kanchana offers a few suggestions, whether or not anyone wants to hear them.
"Before we rush off and do something ill-planned, I think we should at least make a semblance of a proper battle plan. And we need to figure out some way to keep ourselves from getting isolated from eachother should killing become necessary. We now know; more or less, how long the mother is away for hunting I suppose."
With a slightly annoyed tone she points out to Brahmah; and Vasch,
"no child is born evil or is inherently evil. They are raised to be good people or bad people."

The druidess is well aware that she is going out on a limb with her words and opinions since she knows little about dragons.

((OOC: Richard (especially) and Jay I hope that you don't take Kanchana's comments in a personal way. It isn't an attack on you or your RP styles. Vasch just got Kanchana's hackles up, and Kanchana can't resist countering some of Brahmah's comments at times. All in all she really does mean well.)) ;D

Brahmah
Friday June 18th, 2004 8:20:57 PM

"Vasch! Stop it." Almost feeling challenged by the circling wemic. His hand twitches toward his falchion's hilt.

"Kanchana has at least 'one' point right. Combat, war, battle or conflict, no matter what you call it, needs some order and we have not had that in at least the last three skirmishes. One of which should have been a lesson, to at least one of us." He looks pointedly at Vasch. "You died."

"Kanchana has her charge from Gargul to watch over the Chosen. It's far from self-rightous, Vasch. It seems more selfless to me."

He pauses to ponder the next statement he is about to make, he makes it with a heavy heart.
"Several of us have been more than impatient to get into combat, rarely think and have caused others to be hurt.
Chosen or not, I don't think that was Domi's plan. I think one or two of you may even question my leadership in secret." He looks at Kanchana. "And it's not Kanchana, as you might believe. She's gives important council to me."

He pauses again, still not quite stating his point. "I guess what I'm trying to say... is... if I'm not a good leader, say so. If I'm too demanding, say so. If I'm too soft, say so.
I take criticism from taurs that have 'the horns' to tell me what they think.
If this female can do it **pointing to Kanchana**, then I'm sure all of Domi's Chosen can."

Brahmah, still watching Vasch pace, he raises an eyebrow, sneers and approaches the liontaur with his head down.
He then ponders how to state the next question, diplomatically, but then just decides being forward is best. He tilts his head inquisitively, not making eye contact.
"Am I too soft for you, Vasch? Should I be more blood thirsty, Vasch? More willing to die because I'm the leader of the Chosen, Vasch? More willing to sacrifice, Vasch?"
He pauses, chest heaving more and more quickly, veins visibly throbbing on his neck. Gritting his teeth. "It's simple. Perhaps you should lead the battle with the Reds, Vasch. Would you like that?" His eyes are still faced down.

Zeoll
Friday June 18th, 2004 8:23:04 PM

"Kanchana, Vasch, Domi would not want us to to quarrrel. I know Kanchana will help when the time comes, of courrse. We will be a team."

"We have a mission. I think we have to be smarrt about it, but we should not despairr. Have courrage!"

"And I think we should try to take the drragon cubs alive, if we can. It will give us morre leverrage."

"What do you think of my otherr ideas? Summoning Animal Companions? Establishing a camp? Scouting the arrea arround the lairr? Talking to local animals for info? Maybe we can find a bearr orr two to charrm beforre the attack?"

[OOC: Ceil, maybe we can plan with a extra posts over the weekend?]

Kanchana (to Zeoll)
Saturday June 19th, 2004 12:20:08 PM

"I am sorry Zeoll. I forgot to anwer you as well." Kanchana has the good grace to look sheepish. "I think it is a good idea to ask the local fauna about the caves, scouting and such. However I not very good with animals. How do you propose we go about that task?"
Kanchana thinks about the wolves she summoned. "I had to sacrifice a spell to summon those wolves. I would rather not face the dragons with no spells and only a few animals to rely on. Also I have no use for a companion animal; I prefer the earth-bound childer of the Great Mother."

Zeoll
Saturday June 19th, 2004 12:51:24 PM

Zeoll smiles at Kanchana. "I too do not generally have an animal companion. But with a day of mediatation, any drruid can summon one, and then dismiss it a day orr a week orr a yearr laterr, as desirred. Just as you might take seconds to summon wolves that stay forr a verry shorrt time, we can take a while to summon animals that stay a while."

[OOC: I'm saying you can look at an animal companion as a summon nature's ally spell with a day casting time and a duration of permanent until slain or dismissed.]

"As forr talking with local crreatures, we can use Detect Animals and Speak With Animals to find local bats, foxes, hawks, etc -- these can tell us what we want to know. I rreally wish I had not yet prreparred my spells, since I did not prreparre those. If you have not prreparred yourrs, maybe you could do that."

"My suggestion is that we wait two days and attack on the morrning of the thirrd."

"On the firrst day we camp and watch. The sneakiest of us get a feel forr the arrea. Kanchana and I would use the day to summon animal companions."

"On the second day we get morre info. We find creaturres and talk with them. We considerr alterrnate ways to enterr and leave. We prreparre a hiding place to flee to if we arre pursued. If we arre seperrated, we know to meet at the hiding place. We also find out if therre arre any bearrs or mountain lions or wolves arround herre."

"On the morrning of the thirrd day, we go to the bearrs or wolves or mountain lions and use Charm Animals to befrriend some. When we see the motherr dragon leave, we sprring into action."

"That's my idea for a plan. I don't know you all well enough to suggest individual ideas. Brrahmah and Pawcaw could scout the area. With his ability to get away, Mangram can scout closer and then blip away. If anyone can cast Identify, these items need to be figurred out. Any otherr ideas?"

Flat-top
Saturday June 19th, 2004 3:12:18 PM

Flat-top Stand there Listining to all that is said. He knows very well how Kanchana feel about animals and of all that is nature. As for Brahmah, He's a very strong leader, he tries to see everything, he even know the real reason as to why we are here, The Little Ones, the Unitairs.

Zeoll is right on several counts, the biggest lesson Zoell learn by his own death in battle is Stick with the Plan, Stick with the others.

So Flat-top turn to Kanchana, smiles at her, "You know I watch you with Paw'caw, you got her out of that tree when she needed healing so bad. That bird came to you, trusted you to heal her. And you wonder why I kind of... err... like you. For you I'll try not to kill the wyrms, BUT if I have to do that job for the little one to live. Then I'll will kill those pup of thr Red One. Remember Domi's wishes comes first!"

You wnat more time?? Alright Here goes...

You all talk through the night, Weird sound come from in side the mountain. Nothing moves, not a sound, not any kind of amimal, bird or insect. Not even the wind stirs the trees.

Untill almost Dawn, when the light starts to peak over the crest of the mountain. There's something scratching the rock and bolders. Little by little up the side of the mountain, you see the Red Dragon slowly climb up the side of the cliff, up and up she goes, untill she reaches the top.

There she launches herself into the air, then makes a large circle almost as if she is looking for something or someone to move. She does not spot you and does not find what she is looking for. So she direct her attention West and flies in that direction, into fading stars for another hunt.

Alright you have a repreve for another day.

Your Turn.

Brahmah
Saturday June 19th, 2004 5:32:50 PM

Brahmah shakes his head in frusteration and goes off to the tents.
"We should hide out one more day. So that we can carefully plan the assault. Until then, we shoulc hide in the rocks just above the tents. I might find a small bird or rat to befriend and I could use my wand to speak with them. I can also Charm them, but not until tomorrow. Kanchana, you should find some fungus or something." He grins, and blushes. "Plants."
"Anyway, I am willing to go anytime. Everyone must feel right about it.

Curious though.
If the orcs had a mission from the Red for several days now, the Red hasn't checked up on them and the mission..." He pauses, some fear in his eyes. "Those glass globes!? What do you think they are for?! Do you think they were talking with her, and we are what she is looking for tonight?"

He looks at Kanchana, "Pah'caw likes you." He says boldly after she states that 'she's not good with animals.'

Zeoll  d20+6=8 d20+6=16 d20+6=19 d20+6=16 d20+6=16 d20+6=18 d20+6=7 d20+6=24
Saturday June 19th, 2004 11:54:10 PM

YESTERDAY! After talking with Kanchana, Zeoll spends the rest of the day concentrating and meditating. He sends his mind roaming into the wilderness. He imagines having four legs but no arms. He imagines running, hunting, with a pack. The moon pulls, and Zeoll howls. Deer sprint away, then fall, pulled down by his brothers. The blood runs hot in his throat. In this way Zeoll calls to a wolf.

TODAY! Zeoll spends a little time with his wolf, teaching him to attack on command. He prepares three spells: Detect Animals and Plants, and Speak with Animals x2. He casts the Detect Animals and spends 40 minutes searching with Brahmah and Kanchana for animals such as bats, foxes, hawks, wolves, bear, racoons, owls, and cougars. He uses his Wild Empathy ability so that animals do not flee or fight. [rolls if needed: 8, 16, 19, 16] He uses speak with animals to ask these questions:

Are there any caves nearby? Where?

Where does the dragon live? How can you get there? How else can you get there?

What creatures live with or serve the dragon?

Where is a good place to hide from the dragon?

What predators live nearby? Bears? Wolves? Mountain lions? Boars? Snakes? Where?

That should take care of all Zeoll's druid spells. (Cast with rod of extend, by the way.) He also prepares four cure minor wounds, which he uses on any injured animals he meets.

"Tomorrrow," he tells Kanchana, "I was thinking I would prreparre a Detect Snarres and Pits and two Charrm Animals."

"I am worrried that the mama drragon, with a keen nose, will trrack us down. May I suggest you prreparre two orr thrree Pass Without Trrace spells? That might let us get away. I am surre you can affect morre of us with each casting than I can."

[OOC: ooh! later, I remembered that Zeoll has ranks in Gather Info. That's really what he is doing. Here are some Gather Info checks: 16, 18, 7, 24]

Day 1:
Kanchana spends the entire day trying to summon a companion animal. She concentrates on a larger stronger version of a common burrow-dwelling animal known for its cunning and tenacity. She prays to Mother Wold to grant her request for an animal companion large enough and wily enough to defend her while she sees to the health of others. Kanchana feels that she has enough skill to successfully summon a such a special creature; Mother Wold willing!

Day 2:
With any luck her summons worked and a noticably larger than normal weasel will come to her. She will spend most of this day using her Wild Empathy and handle animal skill to explain what they are trying to do and how this will be beneficial for everything living around here. Kanchana will at the same time teach the weasel to specifically guard her.

(Wild Empathy 15, Handel Animal 22)

If everything works out she will assist Zeoll with his info gathering forrays.
(On Zeoll's first and last gather info checks he gets a +2 from Kanchana trying her best to aid him.)

Day 3:
The Druidess makes her final preparations to confront the dragons.
"Zeoll I can only cast two "pass spells", effecting only one taur at a time. I hope that I will be able to find some plants that might work as a scent-breaker though. It worked well last time I tried that."
She also seeks plants found around here that might work as a new type of scent-breaker. She prays for a few pass without trace spells just in case.
If she finds any useful plants she will quickly make up as much of the scent-breaker mixture that she can.

[OOC: This make the game more fun and challenging. I don't take any offense nor do I mean any by my posting. It's all for fun and the enjoyment of the game.]

Brahmah flinches towards causing Vasch to leap backwards away from Brahmah his hand instinctively reaching for an arrow. He catches himself and stops. "Do you want to do that..." His eyes never leave Brahmah.

"Keep your pity woman! You have your commands and I have mine." Vasch's tail twitches back and forth all the while still keeping his eyes on Brahmah. "And save your surmon, not interested[i]."

[Kanchana]:[i] 'You need to curb your blood-lust. Incedently it is your lack of forethought that is the liability not my right to not take the lives of children.'

"I would expect that from a she-lion! What would you have us do? We're here because we can't take care of the two we have! And it's not liability, it's life. We are hunters, I would expect you to know that!" His tail is really snapping back and forth. It is very apparent to other liontaurs that Vasch is VERY upset.

[Brahmah]: 'Brahmah, still watching Vasch pace, he raises an eyebrow, sneers and approaches the liontaur with his head down. More willing to sacrifice, Vasch?"'

Vasch backs away a low growl can just barely be hear at Brahmah's approach. In a low gutteral voice, "If you're going lead, figure it out yourself. I don't have answers..." In his mind, to show doubt is weakness... "I won't lead..."

Vasch moves off from the camp. He spends the next days away from the others. He will sleep during the day and watch at night. He will spend much of his time when not at watch praying for an answer or some sign from Tomi.

Tomi, I know I've seen your signs. The return of Kale and the ressurection of Zeoll all worry me. We cannot take the dragons alive...they won't see...they're so blind that it will cost us all...if I fall again...I don't think I have the strength to return...Tomi give me courage...

Kanchana (OOC)

((Oops! Yes I somehow missed the /level thing... Thanks foe pointing that out Cayzle.))

Brahmah
Sunday June 20th, 2004 7:04:01 PM

Brahmah's eyes get wide and he looks up, meeting Vasch's gaze. He doesn't look at all amused and steps up face to face with Vasch.

To Vasch~ "You WILL respect that 'SHE-LION' and everything she has to say! You WILL respect each Chosen... including me. 'Doubt is a sign of weakness? I was always told 'Doubt gives us strength, for we question ourselves and our goals.' My father told that to me.
Are you telling me my father was weak?"
He steps closer, literally hoof to paw.

If Vasch attempts to leave the camp, Brahmah says, "Sulking is a sign of pitty. I don't pitty the foolish!"

As the day(s) go on, Brahmah waits for the others to get ready. "What spell should I prepare?"

Flat-top
Sunday June 20th, 2004 8:23:15 PM

Flat-top listens to the both of them, Just before Vasch walks off, So he tells the both of them, "I hope you two got everything off your chest. Before we go into that cave. It will be almost inpossable job to start with, if nobody watches what their doing or watches their buddies back, We Will die for sure. That people is how Zeoll died the first time. He went in to fight the enermy with his own plans and he paid the price.
If we fight! we fight as brothers. Brothers don't fight each other. Kanchana do your thing, you were wonderful the last time. What ever you have planed, go to it girl.
Brahmah! Know you one of the best Leader I ever saw or work under. What ever you say, I'll obey any orders you tell me to do, just let me know.
Varch I'll protect your back anytime with my hide, you can count on that.
Now good Buddies let's make the best of the rest of the day."

Zeoll
Sunday June 20th, 2004 9:52:57 PM

Zeoll says "Hmm" and looks annoyed when Flat-top says Zeoll went to fight on his own. But what he says is, "Flat-top is exactly rright. No one looked out forr me, no one watched my back, and I died. Now, I know that Kanchana will watch my back -- because that's what she did in the last fight. I rreally appreciate that. Vasch also fought brravely, and I know he will again. If we arre a team we will win!"

He suggests that Brahmah take a Pass Without Trace, so that three of the spells (two from Kanchana and one from Brahmah) will let the entire party get away undetected.

[OOC: How about the gathering info? What did local animals say? Is there a cave or good place to hide after the fight? Are there multiple exits from the dragon's lair? Can we find wolves or bears or some big animal to charm before the fight? Any other info?]

Adm Ceil
Monday June 21st, 2004 8:14:04 AM

OOC:My my dear playmates, I see why you wanted another day of Play. But you see our Dear DM Jim only gave me a little bit of infomation,(and that is running out fast), The info that I do have I'll give you willingly (Yeah Sure!). But I cannot OK the permanent pets or companions. You'll have to ask DM Jim about that. I will role play all NPC side kicks.
Now let's Play...

Hmm that's odd, She never circle this little spot before?? I wonder why?? I'm sure we'll find out soon, Real Soon.

Brahmah goes to his sun dial and put marks that only he knows what they mean. But you can see that he is still hurt and mad about the little disagrement, because steam is comming out of his nose.

Kanchana goes about her business of spells, chants, plantes and herbes. Oh! Look she just found some green tea. And a weasel sneeking around.

Varch goes off to cool off, but he does think back to the battle in which he died. he WAS too far ahead of the party and never saw the trap untill it was too late. Even then he was surrounded and even thou he fougth very well, he never had a chance. But his friends did come through for him.

Zeoll meditates, humes and chants, opens one eye and there in frount of him is a mouse (right color, wrong animal) Zeoll ask the mouse about the Red Dragon. The mouse hair stands up on end, his eye bug out and then drops dead (with out saying a word). Zeoll Consentrates alittle longer, opens his eyes again there is an old gray she foxe there. She listen to what he wants, she Tells him I have noot lived this long messing around with Dragons. She turns and goes away. Zoell cannot under stand as to why this is happening, but in the thickets there's a Big gray wolf. (Like I said we'll have to role play)

The rest of the party (Kale, Gectkar, Flat-top, Leets and Toros are trying (very, very hard) to stay out of the storm of two very good fighters.

Now it's your turn.

Vasch
Monday June 21st, 2004 9:39:15 AM

[OOC: Vasch's doubt comment was him thinking not aloud. I think I wrote it that way. He wouldn't directly say that to Brahmah.]

Vasch gets as Brahmah fronts him. "RESPECT is earned. The only reason I'm here is Tomi. I fight for him, not you. I came back because of him, not you...AND IF YOU DON'T GET OUT OF MY FACE...WE CAN DO THIS!!!"

Unless Brahmah does something there will be a staredown and Vasch will gather his gear and head back towards the village.

[Brahmah]: "Sulking is a sign of pitty. I don't pitty the foolish!"

In a calmer tone with slower and steady breathing, "It's not foolishness nor fear, Brahmah. Taking the dragons alive is a deadly mistake, and since I'm the only one who thinks this I'll be a liability, so it's been said. I've decided to go back to the village. Should you fail, someone will need to help the village against the army. Not to mention keeping Kenisha and the young safe. I will not leave them in the hands of a dragon no matter how friendly or helpful it may seem. So you see Captain I do what I have always done...what was needed...good luck to you all, and may Tomi keep you safe." Vasch walks away leaving the others to think on what he has said or dismiss it as foolish banter, he cares not which.

Kale
Monday June 21st, 2004 11:49:39 AM

after Vasch leaves, Kale tells Brahmah and the others, "Just hold your tongues. Whether you like him or not, we need him. Ill bring him back." then Kale leaves and catches up with Vasch. "Im not sure what has happened between everyone in the past, but you all accepted a task to do, even if everyone doesnt agree with it. If you leave not, you break that agreement, and everyone shall fall." Kale says seriously. then, his tone a bit lighter, he says "Except meof course. I always have a way out."

Kanchana  d20+3=19 d20+4=16
Monday June 21st, 2004 12:36:12 PM

Kanchana looks at the tiny weasel and is surprised that Mother Wold would send her something so small to help defend her against a large enemy like dragon young appearently are.
The druidess considers possibly dismissing it, since she doesn't want to cause the death of the little critter.
Kanchana asks the weasel, "do you really want to stay?? We are going after creatures even larger than I am. It could be deadly. If you would like to leave then I do not mind. I would rather see you live than maybe die..." Kanchana uses every resource she has to explain all this to the weasel. She will hold it (if it lets her) and scratch it gently on the back and near the ears as she speaks with it.

After returning from her failed foraging attempt to find plants that might make a good scent-breaker Kanchana hears the ongoing conflict with Vasch.
She thinks to herself, 'and he thinks I am a liability. I wonder if he even realizes who it was that demanded that we take him with us to the temple even though he was dead? And who it was that helped carry him all the way there? Maybe I should have explained that self-defense against the dragon childer is fine, but not outright killing them as a first resort??'

Kanchana will not spend much time contemplating Vasch's words. To her they were a lot of anger and harsh words; nothing really to ponder. She was not expecting much, if any respect from a male wemic. Not all prides practice equality between males and females.
She is glad that she has Nature to turn to when she needs to calm down and think.
'I wonder why there is little pride-thinking among us? Maybe we are not yet ready to fight for Father Tomi's goal of one People? Hmm, no... I think it is more the burden of trying to find sanctuary and aid among strangers. But a schism among the Chosen must surely represent one among the Taurs? Vasch doesn't stand much chance in protecting the cubs and their mothers alone. Humans don't seem to be overly fond of Taurs, and dragons cannot be trusted.'

Kanchana watches Vasch do; in her opinion, yet another rash, ill-thought through action. She doesn't say anything to him, Father Tomi will guide him right in the end. When Kale leaves to follow Vasch Kanchana wonders if he will have any success. After all Vasch more less 'said' that he didn't care for the Chosen.

Weasel(ceil)
Monday June 21st, 2004 5:11:48 PM

The weasel stops and watches Kanchana, Suprised that he can understand her, He listens as he is getting scared because she said animals bigger tha her?? He starts cry "MaMa! she want my pelt! Mama! shhhe want to kill me Help!!" at this point Kanchana pick up and starts scratching his tummy. "HELP!! HelP!! OhHh! Yesss! Scratch right there and right here." He arches bis bach and neck, "Don't forget the ears?"

Zeoll
Monday June 21st, 2004 10:26:32 PM

Zeoll thanks the fox for the help. The next day (the morning of the third day since the orc fight), the liontaur (with his friends, at least ranger Brahmah and druid Kanchana) visits the thicket where the wolf lives. Zeoll tries to find the wolf and casts Charm Animal on it (Will save DC14). If the wolf saves, he'll try again (same DC). He'll use his special rod to make the spell last twice as long.

If the wolf is charmed on the first try, Zeoll will use his second Charm Animal spell on whatever other animal or bird he can see.

Zeoll asks Brahmah how his study of the dragon's habits has gone. Does he think he can pick a good time to invade the lair with a fair chance of getting out before the mama gets back?

Druid spells today: Charm Animal x2, Detect Snares and Pits, Cure Minor Wounds x4.

Brahmah
Monday June 21st, 2004 11:21:21 PM

Brahmah just watches Vasch leave in anger. Makes a brushing motion in the air and makes a sound. "Accghh. Who needs him? Let 'im wander to the village. I hope the mama red isn't hunting for Taurs this day."

Thinking, Perhaps Domi has a mission for Vasch, but he seems to lack something. Stability, maybe?

Looking at Kale, "This is the first issue I've openly had, but its something that is an on going problem, Kale. He is brash and young.
He is right though, I have NOT earned his respect yet and don't think I ever will now.
Chosen have it rough. Vasch may not like me, but I have no problems with him. I like him. He's like I was after my father was killed... arrogant, brash, young, defensive and angry at everyone and everything.
Most of you might remember how rude I was when I came to the Chosen. I listened to Kenisha, learned and changed. Hopefully Vasch will come around. Domi chose him for his strong will and his stronger arm. He is Chosen, like us. We'll meet up with him in the village after the fight."

Brahmah
Monday June 21st, 2004 11:22:05 PM

OOC: Oops. Spell prepared: Pass Without Trace.

Flat-top
Tuesday June 22nd, 2004 6:59:05 AM

Flat-top watches as Varch turns and goes down the path to the village. Flat-top goes to Brahmah "Good job, Captain. You taught him a very good lesson, think of the problem and win with out shedding any blood. That to me is a sign of a great Leader." then pats Brahmah on the shoulder.

Toros
Tuesday June 22nd, 2004 7:35:55 AM

Toros is sick and does not have any energy to pay attention to what is happening around him. Maybe this is the exhaustion after all those events without proper rest, and perhaps he did not eat right enough recently so his body became vulnerable to any negative impact that would not harm him at all normally. He is sorry for his situation, and even this may make him worse...

Brahmah
Tuesday June 22nd, 2004 7:44:25 AM

With Flat-top's praise targeted at Brahmah, the minotaur flinches slightly, releasing tension and finally releasing the hilt of his Falchion.
"I don't know Flat-top. I have a bad feeling, that this thing with Vasch isn't over."

Turning, he notices several Chosen are not around, or are gone entirely.
"See, see that Flat-top, I scared them all off! Where's Leets and the other one, Gecktar? Toros, is he okay?
And Kale's here then he's gone... that's no surprise though, that's just Kale."

"By all that is His Courage, let's get this crap over with." He prepares his gear and tightens his buckler.

Tuesday June 22nd, 2004 8:56:21 AM

Zeoll comes across an older she wolf, She tries to back off and run away, but her paw is caught on a small snare trap. She growls "Grrr" she shows her teeth, she snaps at him "snap snap". But the trap hurts her paw She whines and give out a small yelp.
But his voice is soothing to her and will let Zeol take the trap off.

Kanchana charm her weasel at once, he is happy in her arms, then he find an empty pouch on her belt and make himself a home there. As she goes on gathering ingrediants for the potions she will make.

Toros feel sick, or is it something else?? a bad omen?? A fight among the Chosen a bad omen??

Varch going down to the village, mumbling all the way.

Kale hot behind him he'll be cathing up to him soon.

Flat-top is packing his extra stuff, and is very glad that they will be on the move. This place give him the shivers.

Gecthar and Leets do the same thing, for almost the same reason, this war place is cursed the faster the leave the better.

The plot thickens, is this the end of the Chosen of Domi?? Has evil finnaly split them?? Only time will tell, Maybe??

Alright your turn to play.

Vasch
Tuesday June 22nd, 2004 12:30:07 PM

Kale catches up to Vasch and talks to him down the trail. "We had no choice!" Vasch shouts. He stops in mid-thought and composes himself. "I'm sorry Kale. Things feel much more grim lately. Gods and their servents plotting against us, children we can't protect...and being dead...it's just been a lot to deal with." Vasch throws his arms up, "I'd kill every enemy...every last one... if it meant that our people would be safe. It's not that I enjoy the death...we don't have many options..."

Vasch's face loses all expression and turns serious, even more so than before. "Kale," he says placing a hand on Kale's shoulder, "Leave me dead next time." He leaves it that.

He turns back towards the others and starts back to the camp. "Let's deal with those dragons.

He returns to camp and neither speaks or response to any of the others. He keeps out of the way his mind deep on thought of things as he looks off towards the dragons.

Tomi.........

Leets
Tuesday June 22nd, 2004 3:14:51 PM

"I'm here Brahmah...I had found a quiet place to summon Managarm back, but I've seen Kale and Vasch walking away...I'm not worried by their act, they are faithful followers of Domi although they have their own way to serve him. Maybe sometimes the best way to keep a friend is to let him go...I'msure they will be there when Domi needs them..."

Leets checks his backpack, and ask:

"So, what do we do with this dragon?"

Tuesday June 22nd, 2004 5:50:31 PM

Kanchana takes some more time searching for plants that might be of use to the Chosen now. If just wouldn't do to succeed with the duty they have undertaken only to die at the hands of the mother afterwards.

She searches for as long as she can. Kanchana doesn't have to worry about her gear since she never unpacked anything. If the others decide to move on then she is ready to leave at a moments notice.

Kanchana takes her little weasel friend with her on her forray. After all maybe he can help? She converses with him about her plans for the future, and also tells him about the plants that she comes across and what properties they have.

The she-wemic thinks the mission through again as she searches. She is certain that the mother will hunt out either what stole or destroyed her babies; or the next best thing... the village. That is what moderately intelligent predator mother would do if she were powerful enough. She certainly looked powerful enough. Kanchana's stomach feels like it is tying itself in knots.

Zeoll
Tuesday June 22nd, 2004 11:22:06 PM

Zeoll charms the wolf and releases it from the trap. He brings it back to camp.

"Now is the time forr us to go on ourr quest. Is the motherr drragon away? If she is, let's go now!"

Flat-top
Wednesday June 23rd, 2004 7:05:43 AM

Flat-top packs the rest of his snacks, apples, pine nuts and a few cherries. "alright I'm ready. Let's go. Wait! A minute where's my mirror on a chain?? Oh! Here it is around my neck. Alright Now I'm ready to go!"

Brahmah
Wednesday June 23rd, 2004 10:28:08 AM

"It's great your still here Leets."

"Let's move, to the dragons lair! Courage."

He looks around, embarrassed. "Hmm, which way?" He grins and rubs the back of his neck, roaring with laughter.
