Justin Webber (DM) Ice Vein Tuesday June 1st, 2004 11:34:55 PM
The group go about getting to know and also prepare for their current surroundings. To get any dry and not frozen wood the group would have to travel back the way they came for many hours.
Jurgen and anyone elses turns up nothing other then the words on the ice wall. (Just a FYI, the wall is not huge, just a simple memorial wall like in size. I figure most of you have seen a memorial wall. Around 6 or more ft high and about 10ft with or so) The wall does not block your way on and before you is just as you seen before. A very large snow covered area with spikes of ice sticking up in the air.
Looking around also provides no track or anything of food, atleast where you at at the moment. The wind has began to pickup and howl through the area.
(Peerimus on a knowledge nature DC18 will know soon it will be snowing.)
The horses and yaks have started to complain some since it is slightly cold already to those who haven't been taken care of and the temperature is roughly -10 at the moment.
Ilsidur(ceil) Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 3:50:24 AM
Ilsidur come out of the snow bank,"Well I think I have solved our problem of shelter for the animals, Look!" He points to mound of snow and a opening just big enough for a horse or yak to enter. Ilsidur leads the yak into the mound of snow. "Bring your horses in here or they'll freeze to death, You Ninnies!" Ilsidur duck back into the mound of snow.
Niobe Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 5:47:13 PM
Niobe leads her mare over to the snow mound shelter. She looks it over to see if it will hold up. If it is satisfactory then she will lead her horse inside it. After all she can't have her investment just up and die on her can she? Niobe is surprised at Ilsidur for calling her a ninny, as well as the others. Still she brushes it aside chalking it up to dwarf humor or something of that sort. She wonders how they are going to take proper care of the animals in this harsh climate.
Peerimus and Yorrick d20+20=28 Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 5:59:42 PM
Peerimus moves about the animals adjusting blankets on the mounts. "We are going to need to set up camp, it's too cold or the animals to continue right now."
Peerimus will set about enhancing the snow shelter started by Ilsidur to provide the best protection he can manage for teh mounts. [survival 28]
Barnum and Edgar d20+6=19 Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 6:06:14 PM
Barnum sighs, "I thought we bought these animals because they were built to travel in the cold..." He shrugs, and goes over to investigate what the large spikes sticking out of the ground are.
Edgar flies up high and circles the area, to see if he can spot anything else of note in the area. (Spot 19)
Shiraz Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 9:20:38 PM
Shiraz becomes frustrated with himself after realizing his thought of firewood came too late. "Anyone have any spare torches? I have a few on me but thats no where near enough to keep us warm and comfortable."
Jurgen and Vus d20-1=7 d20+1=15 Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 9:25:45 PM
Jurgen, finding nothing of much use at the ice wall, lets Ilsidur handle the animals... Well. It was looking more and more like they'd be walking. And in the snow too. He sighed, wishing he'd bought a flying carpet or something worthwhile like that. "Worry not, Shiraz. We've got enough stuff to burn. We should be okay. Worse comes to worse, the wagon could be burned, eh?"
Instead of spending a lot of time worrying about the horses, he goes with Barnum and visits the ice spikes. He's curious as to what they are.
[Jurgen: Search Check - Success if DC 7 or less] [Vus: Search Check - Success if DC 15 or less]
Justin Webber (DM) Camping and Looking Wednesday June 2nd, 2004 10:46:26 PM
Everyone huddles in the tent with the animals to keep warm except Barnum and Jurgen who go to one of the 6ft ice spikes to look it over. When they reach it and begin looking it over the find at the very top is a large hole to one side, the ice spikes are also 4ft around clear to the ground.
Edgar as he flies and looks notices that the ice spikes farther into Ice Vein are a total of 8ft high and slightly bigger around then the outside ones near the entrance. Otherwise Edgar sees nothing else except the snow has began to fall and the temperture has began to drop some more.
Peerimus and Yorrick d20+20=24 Thursday June 3rd, 2004 3:06:55 PM
With the temperature falling more, Peerimus sets about to piling the snow against teh tents for further insallation and checks the animals with Yorick right on his heels.
[survival 24]
Sly and Luke Thursday June 3rd, 2004 4:24:27 PM
Sly walk towards Jurgen, "What do we have here? What's this a hole at the top or is it on the upper side? Do you think they are hollow? It's been a hard day Let's go eat and warm up for tomorow. Let's us all talk about this around the fire. It's getting even colder" Sly will lead the two children back to the tent, affter being in the weather at -10 degrees, going into a tenth at 30 degrees will seam like summer.
Luke stayed next to Ilsi dure and the fire.
Ilsidure(ceil) Thursday June 3rd, 2004 4:32:10 PM
Ilsidure take the rations and makes trail stew and dumplins, "Now I wish we had that boar to cook, Shiraz where did you et that wolf fur jacket? Look nice on you. Luke don't get under foot, you Hear?".
Luke responds "alright."
Barnum and Edgar Thursday June 3rd, 2004 6:32:36 PM
"Perhaps the spikes are like the Ice Vein's trees." Barnum surmises, figuring Peerimus might have a better insight into the situation. Barnum returns to the tent and huddles around the fire.
Edgar soon returns and reports his findings, "Those spikes get bigger, and go further and further up the mountainsides."
Niobe Thursday June 3rd, 2004 8:57:01 PM
Niobe will either help with the animals or with dinner, whichever seems the best thing to do for the moment. She listens to Barnum's report about the "ice trees".
Jurgen and Vus Thursday June 3rd, 2004 9:18:04 PM
"Assuming they get bigger the deeper we go, we could use them to chart our way. We'd nevre get lost, because we would know which way we came from. Couldn't ask for much more when visiting a snowy wasteland... Except maybe a path. And that is something I can provide." He smiles half-knowingly and half-wondering. A permanent path would definately be a good way for people to come back to Ice Vein later. He'd have to think on it for a while, then maybe put something into action.
"Tonight we'll need to have someome check for falling snow... Or maybe not. I think we could get out if we got caved it." He relaxes himself in with the party and pulls out of dried food and munches on it.
Shiraz Thursday June 3rd, 2004 11:28:34 PM
Shiraz begins to feel cramped in the tight space with all of the animals, his friends and smoke from the fire.
Justin Webber (DM) Camping Friday June 4th, 2004 1:22:43 AM
All the group comes back to the tent and relax some except Shiraz who is starting to feel abit crowded in the tent.
The couple who went off and looked at the ice spikes tell what they found and what they think the ice spikes might be.
Kulak has finally decided to talk now, he stands just outside of the tent since he is uneffected by the cold, "Daddy's and mommy. I feel that my journey begins now. I will be parting from you all and striking out on my own for awhile. Some day I think our paths will meet again." Kulak waits outside for any comments to him and such before he will head off, bidding a final farewell to those he calls his parents.
(OOC:I'm sorry for the lateness of this post everyone. I got caught up in somethings.)
Sly and Luke Friday June 4th, 2004 10:04:45 AM
Sly rushes out side, "Kulak my son, If you feel that you must go. Then you must do what you think is right, I wish you good luck and Keep out of the wat of the White Human he want to kill you. Know this, you are alwasy welcome in our circle. Now do the right thing and Good by." Sly steps back to let His big Iron Son go.
Peerimus and Yorrick Friday June 4th, 2004 3:29:56 PM
Peerimus will wish him well.
OOC sorry about teh short post
Niobe Friday June 4th, 2004 6:03:31 PM
Niobe doesn't feel as much of a connection to Kulak like some of the others obviously do. Still she wishes him well, "safe journies Kulak. Be careful who you trust." A cold gust of wind sends Niobe back into the tent/snow mound shelter. After Kulak leaves she will check her mare to see if she is doing alright and hopefully isn't cold.
Barnum and Edgar Friday June 4th, 2004 10:39:09 PM
Barnum walks outside and reaches up high to pat Kulak on his hand, "Kulak... My buddy, my 'son.' I am dissapointed to see you go, but happy to see you embracing your life's mission. But Kulak, your life is full of chaos, both literally and figuratively. However, you have great power, which gives you the ability to affect the world, either negatively or positively. I hope you lean towards the positive. If you ever get the opportunity, I hope you try and find a place in the church of Alemi. Of course, that is a decision that's up to you. Either way, Alemi bless you on your journey, son."
Barnum smiles, and hands Kulak a potion of Cure Light Wounds, "Perhaps this will aid you in your travels." He then pats Kulak's hand again, and returns to the tent.
With a reassuring look, Edgar says to those in the tent, "All birds must leave the nest, eventually."
Shiraz Saturday June 5th, 2004 1:53:09 AM
Shiraz happily leaves the comforts of the tent and walks to Kulak. "May you find no rain in the forcast," Shiraz says with a smile. "Be careful Kulak, there are things that even you should fear."
Jurgen and Vus Saturday June 5th, 2004 2:02:16 AM
Jurgen, not quite knowing what to say to Kulak, decides on nothing. He didn't know the iron golem so silence was the best course of action... Something it had taken him a while to learn. But he had. Well. Not quite. Silence wasn't a lesson, as a weakness. Knowing what to speak when, that was the lesson.
Jurgen blinked rapidly for a few moments. Then again. Was he rambling... in his head? That was kind of odd. Time to change lines of thought.
"Later days, Kulak. I wish you the best on your journey. And if you ever want to chat or something, give me a look-see. I'm always up for a good word or two." With his awkward farewell done, Jurgen heads off to preparing himself for the night. Before doing so, he changes his bald head to that of a well cut head of hair. With a rather fashionable feather in it. Cosmetics were so easy with a hat of disguise, he thought with a grin.
Justin Webber (DM) Camping Cont Saturday June 5th, 2004 12:42:28 PM
The group bids farwell to Kulak who leaves shortly there after and now the group is left to keeping their animals warm and getting some rest for the next days travels.
The animals are fairing somewhat well since the long hair helps retain the heat. The yaks are doing better then the horses. Everyone finds it alot warmer inside the tent then outside as the temperature steadly drops for awhile outside.
(OOC:Everyone, since I can not email you all at the moment I have to drop the news here. Coming soon from the looks I will be moving from this game and to Ice Vein when it opens and will be the DM of that. That means that you will have a new DM again. Till I get the complete word I will be moving the game on normally but to settle good byes now I want to tell everyone that I have enjoyed being your DM and hope that you all have enjoyed me being your DM. Hopefully sometime in the future I will be back. The change of DM's will probably come next week inless the powers that be decide otherwise.)
Niobe Sunday June 6th, 2004 2:02:46 AM
As long as they stay holed up in camp Niobe is either wrapped in her winter blanket, doing camp chores or helping to tend the animals. Conversation seems to be at a minimum at the moment.
Sly and Luke Sunday June 6th, 2004 8:14:57 AM
Sly enters back into the tent, He sit by the fire, he brakes the silance... "Well Kulak has left. In an odd way, I for one will miss him. Now! back to business at hand... What do you think of these spikes? They have a hole near the top and it's off to one side? I wonder if they are not air holes? I wonder what would happen if we should chop one down? Just to see if they are hollow? What do you think of them?".
Luke sits beside Sly asking him "Scratch ear!"
Ilsidur(ceil) Sunday June 6th, 2004 8:43:12 AM
Ilsidur stumps back into the tent (shacking the snow off his boots) "well big foot is gone. Now for a cup of Klaw." The dwarf takes a cup of klaw drinks all down, makes an ugly face, then asks "Now! What are we talking about now?".
Jurgen and Vus Monday June 7th, 2004 12:49:28 AM
"Airholes, eh? That's a scary thought. What kind of creature needs hundreds of air holes? Oh! Unless it's for caverns below. And it's easy enough to get through ice. We could just melt it with a few well placed fire spells. Then just hop on down, if they go somewhere. Or, we could just follow the spikes. I don't know. This place seems a bit," he struggles to find the right wording, "odd. I don't really know where to go or what to do."
While the group talks, Jurgen pulls out his dagger and picks at his nails. Sitting still in an enclosed area. He'd met this very group when a mountain had fallen on him. Fortunately, something or someone deemed his survival neccessary. And so, instead, he'd found himself held captive in a cage with a bunch of crazy priests around... That'd felt a lot less scary than the cave, Jurgen could remember. "Yeah. Lets hope we don't have to go through tunnels. Although it might make Ilsidur feel at home."
Savin Monday June 7th, 2004 4:09:48 PM
OOC sorry for the lack of posts. Computer problems, that are hopefull solved now.
Savin will listen to the others and smile to himself as the group complains about the lodging and animals. He is glad he purchased his boots and will enjoy the warmth they provide for his whole body.
He will pull out his panpipes and play a soft melody to keep everyone's spirits up.
When Kulak leaves, he will simply say, "I hope you find whatever you are looking for in the world. Find us again and tell us your stories. Good luck my friend."
Barnum and Edgar Monday June 7th, 2004 8:07:29 PM
Barnum sits back and enjoys Savin's music. "I'm all for chopping down a spike, but I'd still like to get Peerimus's opinion first." He looks to the druid for answers.
Justin Webber (DM) Night Talks Tuesday June 8th, 2004 1:01:18 AM
The group talks throughout the night about what they plan to do in the morning. The temp seems to stay at a steady 25 below outside the tent.
The night passes on with no problems and it seems to last longer then normal even as some people know morning has finally arrived. It is clear the darkness lasts just alittle longer here before the run really hits.
Peerimus and Yorrick d20+20=26 d20+20=23 d20+20=31 Tuesday June 8th, 2004 4:41:46 PM
In the morning, when it arrives, Peerimus will head outside to gauge teh weather over the next few days [26 2 days] and then make a thorough check on all the animals [23] before joining anyone else who now may be up.
"I can investigate some of the holes without detroying them as we move farther into the Ice Vein." Recasting his Endure Cold spell and sharing it with Yorrick he asks if everyone is good to get moving. Adding he and Yorrick will attempt to gather what passes for edible while the group continues. [31]
Savin d20+13=32 Tuesday June 8th, 2004 4:46:12 PM
Savin will go out into the night and check on things. He will look for tracks and other signs of life. He will also notice that the moonlight really reflects off the snow and things are easier to see than normal night vision.
Spot 32
Sly and Luke Tuesday June 8th, 2004 5:06:35 PM
I'll go with you Peerimus, after all we don't want Yurric to get lonely, now do we Luke."Smiled Sly as he packs away his bedrole, takes a wolf skin, lacing Luke in it. takes trail ration for the short trip.
"I'm ready to leave." Sly said as he put on the ast of the cloak. Luke looks arround "Come! Yoorick!"
Ilsidure(ceil) Tuesday June 8th, 2004 5:33:57 PM
That's right! run out when it's time to do the dishes!!" grumble Ilsidure, he pick up a couple of pots and throws then one at sly, the other at savin. "Make your self useful and fill these pot with snow, so we can have water in here." Ilsidure will do the dishes and study his spells and prays for those that go out into that cold.
Barnum and Edgar Tuesday June 8th, 2004 8:02:52 PM
Barnum warms himself up, casting Temperature Control on himself with the wand he bought in the Catacombs. Barnum steps outside with a few of the others saying, "I'm sick of being stuck here for so long, unless the weather shows any signs of changing, I think we should get going."
Shiraz Tuesday June 8th, 2004 9:26:20 PM
Shiraz wraps up in his heavy cloak as he peeks outside then ducks his head back in, "Whew! Cold indeed" the taur mutters as he begins to get dressed.
Niobe Tuesday June 8th, 2004 11:34:55 PM
Niobe is ready to continue travelling whebever it is decided to move on.
Justin Webber (DM) Cold toes and freezing noses Wednesday June 9th, 2004 2:27:32 AM
Savin finds no tracks of anything when he goes out to look. The snow that has been falling would of covered most tracks anyway but nothing shows itself in the snow.
Peerimus can tell in the morning that the temp will be a steady 10 below all day and that the sky is clear showing no sign of snow or freezing rain. It looks like it may snow once again when night fall hits and then be the same the next day.
The horses and yaks seem to be fine in the morning. They snort alittle and clearly prefer to stay inside the tent but who could blame them.
When the group breaks camp and starts moving again into Ice Vein they slowly notice that the ice spikes get taller as Edgar had told Barnum and Barnum had told the rest of the group.
(Spot DC12 do to the open ground beside the ice spike barriers in place. Listen DC10)
Those who succeed in the spot will notice in the distance two 4ft shaggy pure white spiders who are attacking and quickly kill a wolf. The wolf puts up a valiant fight but to no avail as soon the spiders over come it and with a quick, sharp yelp the wolf if killed. One of the spiders after the kill begins to pull the dead wolf to one of the ice spikes and up ot before squeezing into the hole at the top of the ice spike and dragging the wolf roughly through the hole. The other shaggy white spider moves off away from the group, clearly not seeing any of you. You can only guess that the mystery of the ice spikes have been solved.
Niobe d20+10=23 d20+10=11 d20+8=17 d20+7=26 Wednesday June 9th, 2004 4:49:49 PM
Niobe easily spots and hears the giant, shaggy, white spiders attacking and killing the wolf. She reigns in her horse and watches them intently; from a safe distance. The thief does not like what she sees! 'If those spiders eat wolves then people and larger animals are probably on the menu as well!'
Niobe calls softly out to the others, "Hold! Those spiders up ahead are probably still hunting for food. We could very well qualify as meals for them even if we are travelling in a group." She is certain that a warning to the others is reasonable enough to justify speaking loudly enough to be heard by the others. Niobe doesn't want to raise her voice too much since the spiders haven't noticed the group yet.
Niobe thinks that the spiders perhaps are either hunting for food or defending their territory. She thinks she remembers that spiders might possibly be able to detect fairly strong-ish vibrations in the ground near to their "burrows". She vaguely remembers hearing about something like that a long time ago.
In a semi-audible whisper Niobe asks herself, "by the Powers how do we get past that obsticle safely?"
Peerimus and Yorrick d20+12=17 d20+5=19 d20+17=24 Wednesday June 9th, 2004 9:12:33 PM
Peerimus notes the snow spiders down the wolf and while normally would create quite the curiosity Niobe is fully correct in her assessment.
"Taking the pack animals and wagon through there will provoke an attack. They are hunters, not spinners and will therefore 'feel' us walking and will be able to assess our number and basic weight rather easily. Larger prey must forray further in and that would necessitate larger mounds and possibly spiders to drag them in. We either look for another way or prepare for a probable extended attack. Is it possible to get us all airborne?"
Peerimus looks in Jurgens direction at his question.
Yorrick shifts as the spider is still visible and the scent of a kill is in the cold air. [Spot 17 Listen 19 Knowledge Nature 24]
Savin Wednesday June 9th, 2004 9:46:48 PM
Savin pipes in, "Where are we actually going? I know we are searching for Sly's family but where are they. Do we have a destination in mind or are we just wandering?"
Jurgen and Vus d20+1=12 Thursday June 10th, 2004 12:14:32 AM
"Lovely... Bugs."
[Spot Check - Success at DC 12]
Jurgen sighs at the sight of the spiders, not expecting them to be the occupants of the holes. Although it made sense now, having seen them. "You guys... Why haven't the spotted us yet? Maybe they can't sense the ground like we think." Pondering this, he rummaging through his scroll case and shakes his head. "Sorry Peerimus, I used to be able to. But I gave that up. Not entirely on purpose, but I did. Most can I do is get three of us in the air. And that's without worrying about our mounts. Realistically, if these things are coming after us, we're fighting."
He considers the options at their dispose. Limited as they were, a few might be helpful. He hoped as much, anyway. "Okay. Consider this. I've still got a few feather tokens. You know, the ones that we threw under the machine a-" He shakes his head, not wanting to bring those memories to life. They were horrifying enough at the time, no need to relive them. "Anyway... We could toss a couple and climb into the trees. Maybe not such a smart idea, considering the possibility of caverns underneath us which could collapse. Which brings me to another option, why don't we just cover the holes? Or flood them. Don't give them a chance to get out. Spiders aren't exactly creatures of the light and I don't think we should feel remorse at drowning a few of the bloody animals."
Sly and Luke Thursday June 10th, 2004 12:48:11 AM
Sly listens to what is being said "I never saw this kind of spider before, I'm trying to remember as to what the old hermit said. He said the he saw an encampment with elven slaves being held there. He also said that he never went into the camp, But a few of them look as if they were from my village. So if he can go through this land unharmed, they has to be a way into the interior if this land?? The trouble is that it has never been maped before and this compass is not magic any more." Sly look stump as he shacks the compass.
Luke ask "How many long legs?"
Justin Webber (DM) Planning Thursday June 10th, 2004 12:54:04 AM
The shaggy spider is quickly out of sight as it moved along, the other has vanished into one of the ice spikes. (A small comment here to let people have a good picture. In the current area where you are you can see alot of the ice spikes. There is probably a 20ft gap between each ice spike and they stretch for as far as the eye can see.)
The group discusses what to do, so far nothing has attacked but the wind has began to pickup and blow pretty good outside. You have seen no sign of any life beside the shaggy white spiders and the wolf. You can only guess that the spiders keep most of the population down but that is only a guess at best. The land is uncharted and nothing is known about it so your guesses is all you have to go with.
Ilsidur(ceil) Thursday June 10th, 2004 1:00:27 AM
Ilsidur takes care of the animals and this part of the care he not too fond of. But he does sweeps and saves the droping for fire fuel. But he does grumble, "Wouldn't you know it every body leaves, going to look at some silly collums and leaving me to do all the dirty work!" but comtinue to do the work anyway. He just loves being alone for once.
Barnum and Edgar Thursday June 10th, 2004 3:31:09 PM
Barnum looks around him, surrounded by ice spikes. Every spike around potentially has a spider in it. This does not bode well for the group. Barnum doesn't know if the others are at least the bit afraid of being killed and eaten by spiders, but he certainly is.
"Confounded Ice Vein, as if it weren't enough to be cold enough to freeze us all to death, we're surrounded by giant, murderous spiders! Do you think there's one in every spike? If there are, than we're in dire trouble, yet we haven't been attacked yet... Perhaps they are a rare sight, I hope."
Niobe Thursday June 10th, 2004 6:57:22 PM
Niobe mentally prepares herself for a fight against the giant, woolly spiders. "Is there any way to use the weather; and the snow, to our advantage against these critters?"
Shiraz d20=10 Thursday June 10th, 2004 9:28:10 PM
Shiraz looks around but doesnt see the spiders until they are pointed out for him. Stopping suddenly when he hears that they will "feel" the movement Shiraz looks concerned.
Jurgen and Vus Thursday June 10th, 2004 9:28:26 PM
"The advantage is to them, unfortunately. Unless we can make it extremely hot," He spares a glance at Peerimus to imply that there was nothing he could do, "they'll have us pretty much the home territory. But considering the fact that we've got more firepower, we'll be safer. I think..." If they spiders were poisonous, this was definately not the place to get biten. Peerimus and Ilsidur might be able to do something about it, but that was definately not a risk Jurgen planned on making a reality.
"Okay. Either we attack now or we wait for tehm to attack us. Either or... You guys can decide. I'm set for whichever.
Peerimus and Yorrick Thursday June 10th, 2004 9:57:43 PM
"Pity you do not Jurgen and no I have no qualms against reducing the vermin population of Ice Vein. There does not seem to be enough to feed on for there to be a significant spider population. Do not worry Barnum, we will not be facing hundreds of spiders. Unless there is a significant source of food under our feet and while they rarely hunt up here they are quite active down there. I think we need to drop a spike and found out how extensive the world under us is. I have but one fire spell and would rather keep it for a more demanding task then melting a stalagmite of ice." Peerimus again turns towards Jurgen with this thought and gestures towards the nearest Icecicle. "Care to do the honors?"
Justin Webber (DM) Planning&Surprise Thursday June 10th, 2004 11:18:56 PM
The group slowly comes to a plan of action involving one of the ice spikes but before much else happens a total of 4 of the shaggy spiders come at the party from the left side. These ones didn't seem to come from the ice spikes either.
Before the spiders get to far you hear and see a few different things. First down the ice spike not to far away where one of the spiders had dragged the dead wolf, you begin to hear what sounds like fighting noises between a spider and something else.
Out of about 8 ice spikes in unison around the incomming spiders pour large white ants. The ants are slightly shaggy and are about 6ft in length, they stand about 2ft. You can count a total of 20 ants that pour from the holes and jump the spiders. A large attack is going on and one icy looking ant turns to look at the group, it clearly interested in the mounts but turns to attack the spiders.
As the ant turns to attack Peerimus can swear he hears a voice in his mind, the comment quick and simple, "Do not attack ants." The battle is quite clearly short lived and the ice ants begin to pull the dead spiders off, some using their mandibles to tears the spiders apart abit.
Savin Friday June 11th, 2004 1:03:19 PM
Savin looks at the ants and spiders battling and then looks down at his own hands. He looks up at the mandibles on both creatures and then relooks at his hands.
He will look over to Shiraz and say, "I think I should have learned a pole weapon. Something to keep those beast away."
He will address the whole group and say, "I think we just need to go. We will have to be alert and wary but we aren't gonna find Sly's family just standing here. We will have to face those nasties soon enough."
Sly and Luke Friday June 11th, 2004 6:38:44 PM
Sly also watches, replies to his companions "Yes! I'm with you, we should brake camp and hurry out of this place. Come on Luke let's get the animals and wagon. then get out as fast as we can." Sly and Luke will go back to camp and help pack the wagon.
Luke follows Sly tells him "Take wolf skin off."
Ilsidur(ceil) Friday June 11th, 2004 6:48:44 PM
Ilsidur was taking down the last of the beef jerky, when Sly entered the tent. "What do you mean pack everything?? We're moving Now?? What happen out there?? A giant WHAT?? Being defeated by What??" The answers that Ilsidur got inspired him to pack up really fast. Infact he struck down the tent and into the wagon inside of half an hour. "Ready! Lets go" said Ilsidur as he sat on the bench of the wagon. "I don't drive!"
Shiraz Friday June 11th, 2004 11:50:00 PM
Shiraz chuckles softly at first then loudly as he looks over at Savin, "Yes something along the lines of a ten or eleven foot pole would have been nice to learn." Shiraz hotfoots it back towarsd the wagon and helps load, "OK lets go."
Jurgen and Vus d20-1=6 Saturday June 12th, 2004 12:28:09 AM
"So, no?" Jurgen almost outwardly sighs at the walking away. He and Peerimus both wanted to have some fun with it. But perhaps the group was right. Ants were no better than spiders. Dirty, crawly, nasty creatures. And most certainly they'd have to be dealt with. But the upper hand wouldn't be in their favour. Jurgen turns to Peerimus and gives a brief nod of his head. "Keep your eyes sharp. I'll keep mine too. They won't catch us like they did the wolf."
If Ilsidur will have him, Jurgen is more than willing to help put away the tent. As to continuing on, he'd leave that in Sly's hands. But he keeps his eyes peeled for any sign of the insects, mostly he's just working on the tent and has little chance of seeing anything of note.

(OOC:A couple missed posts this time. Peerimus might want to relay the message in his mind when he posts :) .)
The group quickly gets packed as the ants quite clearly ignore the group for the time being atleast and the group quickly gets on it's way.
Peerimus is happy to see that his weather prediction was right and no snow is hitting but the winds have picked up pretty high and snow is being blown around, causing drifts and snow banks that the wagon has to deal with, let alone the others on horses. The yaks being burden beasts plow through these pretty well though even with the wagon.
With the wind picking up a new problems beyond looking for spiders, wolves and ants shows itself. First the group is having a hard time seeing to far infront of them and two the animals are starting to get cold once again. It is quite clear that even knows the animals are better made for this weather that it still is harsh for them, let alone the people.
The group currently is pretty well in the open except the ice spikes dotting the area here and there. No spiders or any other creature has been seen, let alone tracks of any type do to the gusting winds and blowing snow. You can only hope that you find a place for shelter, find a city or town of some type or even some group of people who may beable to help you out.
Sly and Luke Sunday June 13th, 2004 8:03:15 AM
Sly while riding, make sure that his horse has anextra blanket,"That why I bought the extras blanket in the first place. I think I'll write more in my book." He takes out the book and starts writing...
Chapter two Ice Vain
After crossing the border, we set up camp, to the good thinking of our Cleric Ilsidur. He burried a big tent whith snow making a nice cool shelter, by keeping out that bone chilling wind we were saved from frezzing.
We explored the ice cones we discovered, they turned to be a entrence to some Giant white Spiders. These spiders seem to like warm bodied victims, they swiftly kill their victim and stuff then into the ice cones. They then enter the ice cone by the same hole. Pushing his meal down to his lair under the snow line, then dines on his victim uninterupted. We have also seem some great big white ants. These Ants are the enermy of the White Spiders. We have seen a hunting party of these big ants that killed ten of the great big spiders. The ants has seen us but chosed not to bother us, I guess we were not anything dangerous to them or they were not that hungry to bother with. But with these Monsters around we are now setting off to find safer shelter, the weather is very cold and the animals are getting tired. we must push on.
Niobe Sunday June 13th, 2004 3:23:28 PM
Niobe huddles down in her saddle; she isn't actually cold but the wind and weather is annoying. She is not happy about the over-large arachnoids and ants. She is worried that her mare will end up dead from the extreme cold and horrid weather. The fact that there doesn't seem to be any settlements anywhere nearby... things are looking bleak indeed. "I hope we come across some sort of humanoid settlement soon. There has to be something else around here other than wooly bugs if slavers are bothering to come here. Last time I checked bugs didn't bother with coin...", Niobe complains. Being in the middle of nowhere with seemingly only bugs around and no people is not Niobe's idea of a place to spend any length of time! "Hey Sly, does that fancy compass of yours show any directions to anything useful around here? Like a town? All this barreness and only all of you gentlemens' pockets to pick for entertainment... need I say more?"
Jurgen and Vus [Polymorphed] Sunday June 13th, 2004 7:02:48 PM
Jurgen, getting fed up with the weather and the entire lack of civilization, decides to take matters into his hands. Instead of continuing to sit around and become upset about the bugs, he plans on taking to the sky.
"I'll find us something." And with that, Jurgen brings his newest spell into effect.
When he changes into the owl, he flies up and begins to scan the ground as far as he can. He hopes to find a settlement or other people, knowing that just walking until they find something will end up getting them nowhere fast.
Savin d20+13=18 Monday June 14th, 2004 6:46:41 AM
Savin will trudge along keeping an eye out and for anything looking to jump them, (spot 18) and lead one of the yaks.
He will call over his shoulder, "Why did we come here again?"
Ilsidur Monday June 14th, 2004 12:32:42 PM
Ilsidur answers Savin, "We are here for the rejuvinating climate, and the wonderful ambience, or did you forget? Savin, you know that we are really here to try to find Sly's family. Let's hope Jurgen can find something in his new incarnation."
He calls out to Jurgen as the young owl flies off, "We will continue to travel straight in the direction that we have been following, so that you can find us when you return."
Peerimus and Yorrick Monday June 14th, 2004 2:15:59 PM
Peerimus sits in thought as the wind picks up and mostly concerns himself with driving the wagon. Do not kill the ants? Rather odd that, but the Wold is indeed a wondrous place and when Mother speaks it is truly in your best interest to listen. So no ant killing, but first thing first. Survival which means shelter from the elements or protective spells
As Jurgen flies off "Barnum, you have a wand of elemental protection correct? Use it on the animals."
"I hope so as well Ilsidur. Though I still place the suggestion of not discounting looking under our feet for shelter. But til he returns we should continue to move towards where he expects us to."
Sly and Luke Monday June 14th, 2004 5:30:24 PM
Sly ride along with the others, He's begining to get use to riding, He can keep his balance as his mount truges along. He not too far from Niobe. He answers her "The compass has not work since we cross the bounderies of Ice Vain. Just like the old elf said." He watches Jusrgen as he flies off, "I do hope he find some cave or village out there?" He turns to Niobe "I feel real bad to get this party come along in this waist land, just on a hunch of my mother Might be here."
Justin Webber (DM) Flight seeing&Cold trotting Monday June 14th, 2004 6:06:28 PM
Jurgen in his new form flies off to find what he can. As he flies off he gets nasty blast of cold air but as he climbs higher he gets out of most of the nastier blasts of cold air. He flies for quite sometime before his owl eyes pickup something. In a small area over a mile in the direction the party is traveling is a group of people. How many Jurgen can't be sure of but from the looks they are hunting.
(Jurgen makes out these details. The people he sees is a group of 6. The people look human, are rather tall for a human and wear wolfskin clothing along with some sea shell like ornaments.)
The party plods along on their animals, which complain less one the wand is used on them. Nothing attacks them and surprisingly they do not see another ant or spider yet as they move along.
A surpring and maybe alarming things is noticed by Barnum. The effects of his wand are blocking the blunt of the elements from him but yet a small cold feeling is getting to him. (Knowledge DC16 *Use arcane knowledge*) will tell Barnum that something about Ice Vein is interfering with some of the magic the wand gives. He can estimate that the wands normal effects will last around half as long as normal.
Everyone with magic gear that is providing relief find that alittle coldness can be felt by them also. The magic is blocking the blunt of the cold from you but not all of it.
Shiraz Monday June 14th, 2004 7:41:22 PM
Shiraz pulls his heavy cloak around him and helps with leadign the yaks through the snow, "Whew this is a bit colder than what I am used to will take several days to get used to this."
Ilsidur Monday June 14th, 2004 10:23:09 PM
Ilsidur is happy that he was able to purchase the magic cloak before they left for this travel to the frozen north? south? east? west? "Whatever direction, it sure is cold," he mumbles to himself. He hunkers down in the wagon, letting the much taller Shiraz lead the yak through the snow. He has yet to try out his new snowshoes, which will likely be an adventure all to itself.
Niobe Tuesday June 15th, 2004 4:47:45 PM
Niobe rides closer to Sly. When she is close enough she reaches over and pats him on the shoulder. Normally she would have given his hand a light pat or squeeze to be friendly, but she doesn't feel secure enough with riding to try that. "You have nothing to feel bad about. We came because we wanted to help. I have a feeling that we will all do what we can to find your kin." Niobe smiles a little bit to try and make Sly feel better. With an impish grin and a wink she quickly adds, "I just miss civilization - warm, cozy tap rooms; plenty of 'marks'..." Niobe laughs softly, "now I only have you all to practice on!"
Sly and Luke Tuesday June 15th, 2004 6:37:03 PM
Sly just rides along when Niobe come along, listens to her soft voice, encuraging him. So he smiles "I know all of you came along because of my problem. If you had not done so. I would have left all of you my friends, just to make sure that my mother is not there. But I'm so greatful that you all did want to see that I indeed have a Mother. Thank you Niobe, I'll try harder to find some thing warmer next time. Do you want an extra blanket??" he smiles at her.
Savin Tuesday June 15th, 2004 7:23:34 PM
Savin will look up at the others and smile. "You know, my master always said fighting warms the blood. I can go kick a couple of the spider mounds. If we tangle with a couple dozen of them, we will be plenty warm afterwards or dead. Either way, we won't be cold. Watdaya think?"
Justin Webber (DM) Moving Along Tuesday June 15th, 2004 11:11:17 PM
(OOC: Going ahead and moving the game along now. Jurgen, I'm having your character come back to help the group out some if you don't mind.)
The party keeps moving with various comments on how to keep warm. Niobe helps comfort Sly who seems to cheerup more with her comment.
Soon in the sky the party can see Jurgen in his owl form. He is in the distance a small ways now and circling in the sky as if pointing out something.
After a while long of traveling the party finally gets to a point where they see a group of six large barbarian looking people. The group is all men and each is covered in stitched winter wolves skin outfits along with a sea shell necklace and other decorations. Each have a spear that is noticeable and they must be able to use them well since near one barbarian is a small pile of four winter wolves that you can only figure is food.
(OOC: Everyone, from this point up till Firday of next week Al will be posting as DM of the game. I wanted to introduce him as my co-dm and this is a good chance to do it. So please give Al a warm welcome in your next post and now, take it away Al. You have the skills, the know how and now the chance so show us what you got :).)
Sly and Luke Wednesday June 16th, 2004 6:34:05 AM
Sly looks up, there is Jurgen is the owl armor. "Look! Neobe, there's Jurden, he found something!" Sly turns in his saddle and yells at the party, "Jurgen found something for us!!"
Sly will push on in that direction, untill they get to where what looks like barbarians hunting party. "I hope they're friendly" To Neoby, he tell her "Keep close, your the only female here, we might just have a little disagreement here??"
OOC: Sly builds a little fire under DM Al. Telling him "Welcome! a warm Welcome! here in Ice Vain" ;)
Luke Wednesday June 16th, 2004 6:37:00 AM
Luke ask of Sly, "Hey! Lunch I'm Not! Tell Them"
OOC: Luke tells DM Al "Hi!"
Shiraz Wednesday June 16th, 2004 7:39:05 AM
Shiraz assists Savin in pushing the Yaks in the direction of Jurgen. As the arrive the taur carefully watches the barbarians for any type of hostility and keeps his weapons sheathed...for now.
Peerimus and Yorrick Wednesday June 16th, 2004 12:45:36 PM
Peerimus gives a silent thanks to Jurgen for his assist. As the group moves in closer to the hunting party, the druid will get down from the wagon to stand along side Yorrick. Placing a hand on teh great bear he whispers to him and them both move forward a bit.
"Hello, I am Peerimus and these are my companions and friends. We wish to know where your settlement is that we could resupply and take shelter for a time."
Jurgen and Vus Wednesday June 16th, 2004 7:15:51 PM
To Peerimus' silent thanks, Jurgen gives a silent welcome with an exceedingly wide grin attached. Becoming an animal was certainly not the sorcerer's specialty, but it was something he would use whenever it was helpful. And likely, knowing Jurgen, many times when it would be helpful.
On the way along to the other group, Jurgen uses his hat of disguise to transform himself into a rather buff and fearsome man. Looking almost too large for life with with tattoos along his arms. He keeps the scar on his face. The more pain you went through the stronger you were. Yeah... Someone stupid once said that. But it seemed to hold true for intimidation. Still, that wasn't his goal. He just didn't want to look weak in case of an attack. So, he keeps up the gruff and strong appearance, but stays silent.
Niobe Wednesday June 16th, 2004 8:51:56 PM
Niobe watches Jurgen's return and his subsequent "transformation". She rides over towards the wagon and takes a position a little to the side and back of it just in case the barbarians decide to attack. Not knowing what the barbarians might think a woman's "proper place" might be is another reason for not being to the forefront of the group. She keeps her guard up but doesn't ready any weaponry. Niobe will let one of the guys speak for the group.
Savin Wednesday June 16th, 2004 9:08:04 PM
Savin will look the barbarians over and whisper to his friends, "Don't say anything to get them mad. I hear they get tougher when they get mad."
He will then move forward and keep his hands out in the open and say, "My name is Savin. As my friend has said," pointing at Peerimus, "we are just travelling through and would like to find some people to help guide us. We are strangers here and unused to your ways. Is it possible to hire guides?"
Men of Ice Vein (DM/Al) Wednesday June 16th, 2004 9:47:46 PM
As Jurgen returns from the air in a flutter of wings, a wind comes howling through the field of spikes, blowing a small storm of crystal snow flakes around you. The hard crystals stinging skin as well as eyes. It blows through your clothing. It blows through your magic. It seems, even, to blow through the very flesh of your bodies.
And, as you stand, contemplating the nature of your welcome by these barbarian men of this frozen land, each of you realizes that Ice Vein has been gradually, ever so gradually, been stealing your body's warmth. Slow degree by slow degree, it is the cool and not the harsh bite of cold that brings you death. Looking at your companions the signs are plain. The slight bluish cast to the lips. A slur to one's speech. "Exposure!" "Hypothermia!" The slow chill hand of the elements. The cold the steals one's memory. The cold that steals coordination. The cold that places teeth chattering numbness into the body. The cold that makes one wish for nothing more than sleep. A sleep from which one never awakens.
Niobe rides towards the wagon. Her mount's step is sluggish. And it stumbles, once.
Peerimus climbs down from the wagon, and calls out to the six. "Hello, I am Peerimus ... " His voice is swept up in the wind and carried across the frozen land. Then, just as suddenly, the wind stops, leaving a silence that can be heard for miles. " ... and these are my companions and friends." The words seem an intrusion into the fridge silence. Yet the druid, realizing the dire nature of their situation, speaks on. "We wish to know where your settlement is that we could resupply and take shelter for a time."
The six do not respond. They stand silent watching the odd collection of seven people with their even odder collection of animals, one a yak creature that stands on two legs; and ... wears swords.
Another human approaches, his hands raised in weakness. He offers sickening supplications ... and money.
A collective sneer appears on the faces of the men of Ice Vein. Five look to a sixth, who, up to this point, has had his back toward you. His long hair, shot through with streaks of white is bound at the back of his neck with a carved ring of ivory. He turns revealing a weather-worn face of strong lines. His skin is as formidable as the bark of a tree, tanned brown from sunlight reflected from ice and snow. His eyes are the pale blue of a crystal lake. He pulls his spear from where it sticks butt-down into the snow, and thrusts it's point in the direction of the pile of wolves.
"Carry," is the only word he speaks. Then he moves off through the plain of spikes. The others follow. None speak.
Shiraz Wednesday June 16th, 2004 11:03:40 PM
"Was he talking to us?" Shiraz asks, his frosty breath carried away by the winds. "Because if he was talking to us he can stuff it. I am not a servant nor will I beg."
Sly and Luke Thursday June 17th, 2004 6:24:15 AM
Sly watches the bunch of barbarians reactions, but when the leader turn to face all of you. Sly knew that they have to make an impression on this one or the party will die here in the ice.
When the leader pointed to the big pile of wolves bodies, and commanded them to 'CARRY', Sly has an idea. "This is a Do or Die Job, we have to do it, just to prove ourselves." Sly turns to his friends, "The big tent, bring out the canvase. Help me pile their bodies on the tent. Then I'll cast the Levetate Seal on it and it will look as if I'll or we'll be carring a very heavy load behind them. That should convince them that we are stronger than we are feeling right now."
Luke ask "Me help"
Sly smiles at Luke. "Yes Luke, You can help by watching for spiders and ants."
Peerimus and Yorrick Thursday June 17th, 2004 10:36:26 AM
Peerimus tries to disguise his thoughts and check his reaction. Given where they were and the group they had encountered it was not completetly unexpected by the druid. Nor was the reaction of his proud companion.
Peerimus instead moves to the wolves and says a small blessing, Father Wold lend me your infinite strength [Bull str share with Yorrick] the druid then reaches down and picks up one of the great wolves and carries it to the wagon. "A fine sounding plan Sly, but these four creatures combine to over 1500 pounds. Lesser magic like a Seal, will not be able to lift them. The wagon is fine. If the Yak has trouble, I will help push."
Peerimus goes back to the wolf pile and picks up another of the 400+ pound creatures.
Sly Thursday June 17th, 2004 12:02:54 PM
"Your right, Peerimus, Here let me Help you" He knows how the Druid feel, so He goes over to the pile, then pick up one of the smaller ones and puffs all the way back to the wagon.
Savin Thursday June 17th, 2004 1:26:41 PM
Savin suddenly feeling the cold decides to supplement his magic boots with regular cold weather clothing. He quickly retrieves them from his haversack, pulls them on and then helps move the wolf skins.
Niobe Thursday June 17th, 2004 6:13:05 PM
Niobe quickly grabs the saddlebow when the mare stumbles and holds on for dear life. She looks rather worried when the mare stumbles. Niobe doesn't actually notice the effects of the cold in a conscious way. She feels somewhat sluggish and like she has never felt warm but that is all that she can identify. She suspects that it is just the result of the extreme climate change; other reasons do not occur to her.
Niobe studies the strange men, but does not say anything or do anything at first. Initially she is relieved that she wasn't signaled out for any focused attention from them. However she is not too happy about the arrogant and generally unfriendly manner in which they have been addressed. The collective sneer certainly didn't improve her impression of the men.
Niobe grins at Shiraz's comment. "I agree with you Shiraz. I didn't come here to be commanded around by some boss-wannabe."
The offended thief calls to the leader of the pack of barbarians. "Hey old man! You could at least ask nicely."
She is practically staring daggers at the older man's back.
Ilsidur Thursday June 17th, 2004 10:00:42 PM
Ilsidur watches as his place in the wagon is taken over by dead wolf carcasses. He unpacks his snowshoes from the wagon, and puts them on. The next little while is spent trying to figure out how to walk in the crazy contraptions. The physical activity does little more to warm him, little more than his magical cloak. "I am going to have a word with those Catacombs staffers," he mumbles to himself. "Selling deffective items like this. I hope that I survive the deepfreeze so that I can go back and give them a piece of my mind.
Once the dwarf has figured out roughly how to walk in the snowshoes, he gives the companions some help moving the last of the carcasses onto the cart.
Honor and Favor (DM/Al) Thursday June 17th, 2004 11:49:13 PM
Peerimus dons a spell. And grasping the huge wolf carcasses in his bare hands, muscles them into the cart. Sly Foxx, Savin, and Ilsidur pitch in. Working together, they complete the task But the druid is disconcerted when he discovers that his spell fades away after less than only three minutes.
The still air in the wake of the departed winds lends a crystal clarity to your vision. All things stand out in sharp detail. Sounds too carry with amazing clarity, giving the illusion that they are much nearer than they actually are. You hear the soft crunch of snow under your boots as you shift unconsciously from foot to foot.
You hear the footfalls of the tall barbarian men of the ice as they walk away. Footfalls that stop suddenly as the barbarians hear you as well.
"No, Ragnar," one says, placing a glove covered hand on the shoulder of the gray streaked man, "why open your mouth to the cold for such as they?"
The gray streaked one says nothing in reply, but covers the hand on his shoulder with his own. The restraining hand falls a way and the man steps back. He nods as an understanding built from centuries of tribal organization passes silently between them.
The gray streaked barbarian returns the few steps to your group. He speaks, and his voice is like the warmth of the wood hearth.
"You come into Ice Vein, and wish to buy service," he spits the word like poison.
"You come into Ice Vein with these clothes. With these ... " He waves a gloved hand in a dismissive gesture. "With these magics. You come to die in the cold, and yet you demand from us honor? And ... 'nicety?'"
He gives you a long cold stare. "I have already given you the chance for honorable favor. If you wish to die instead. Let Ice Vein take you."
He gestures toward the now laden cart, heavy with wolf carcasses. He points in the direction they had been headed. Then he turns, and walks that way. The men fall in behind as he passes.
The cold closes an icy fist as you watch their departing backs.

As the Gray one turn his back on them, starting to go back to his men. Sly yell at his back "NO! Sir! I have come to Ice Vain to find my Tribe. They were taken from my village and taken as slaves to this Land. Too maybe your protection?? I ask nothing But common curtesy and maybe some knowladge as to where in this place are those Slavers. Yes! Sir! I am a fighter first, then I'm also a Wizard next, trying very hard to keep my people here from death. I remember a saying my mother was alway quoted to me, "A Man never stands so tall, as when he bends to give a helping hand."
Sly heart sinks as he watches the gray one walk away and leaves them to their death. He turns to his friends uttering these few words "I'm sorry!"
Savin boots of the winterland and winterclothes, no armor Friday June 18th, 2004 8:10:07 AM
Savin has a dark look at his face as he watches the form retreat. He thinks to himself, "I blundered."
He will turn to his companions and say, "This is a test and we are failing badly. I am sure when we were apprentices, our masters and teacher all gave us tasks to break down our pride. I know mine did. This is no different. Now swallow that pride and lets go. These are a proud people and if we are going to find Sly's family, we don't dare anger them."
Savin will shoulder his pack and start out after the barbarians, while leading a yak. He will call over his shoulder, "I would keep the talking down too. It is obviously dangerous. Sounds like you can talk yourselves to death out here."
Peerimus and Yorrick [Endure Elements Cold] Friday June 18th, 2004 10:08:05 AM
The druid mentally notes the magic draining effects and pulls the wolf skin cloak a bit tighter and looks to Yorrick for signs his friend is in trouble. Father Wold had a strong presence here and if they were not careful they could find themselves quite dead one morning.
As the banter fires away and the barbarian leader returns, the druids shoulders slump as most of his remaining hope is ripped away by arrogance. Peerimus well understood these people and could only now pray the rest of his companions would before Father Wold claimed them.
"Niobe, Sly, Luke, Barnum and Jurgen get in teh wagon and get as under the wolves as you can and as close to each other as you can." He then nods to Savin at the yaks lead rope.
Peerimus shifts to a great bear and assist the yak in pushing the wagon, Yorrick just behind his step as Savin leads to follow the men of Ice Vein.
Come (DM/Al) Saturday June 19th, 2004 6:36:38 AM
The half-elven wizard calls after the departing barbarians. "I'm sorry," he calls out.
The gray streaked one turns back, his pale blue eyes taking in the measure of the green eyed half-elf. His gaze moves to each one of you in turn. It lingers on Shiraz, and his eyes narrow, salt and pepper brows coming together as though puzzling through a question. His eyes move over Barnum, and then return.
Then he shades his eyes, turning them upward to gauge the position of the sun. When his eyes return, they rest again on Sly. The ends of his mouth pull outwards as they feel the touch of a tight smile. His eyes are still a cold pale blue, but the smile dances there as well. He raises an arm completely clad in furs, and beckons you follow.

Peerimus [Endure Elements Cold 81 HP] and Yorick [Endure Elements Cold 73 HP] Saturday June 19th, 2004 9:41:02 AM
Peerimus, now able to freely communicate with Yorrick as a fellow bear, tells him to stay close and that shelter is not far off. At least Sly's apology has seemed to have a partial effect.
With that thought peerimus throws his weight and strength against the wagon. to keep his blood pumping and his stave off the icey hand that is trying to tighten its grip as much to easy the addition burden on the Yak.
Niobe (HP 67/67, Ring of sustenance & Endure Elements (continuous), Studded Leather Armor, Boots of Elvenkind & Winterland ) d20+5=19 d20+7=27 Saturday June 19th, 2004 12:10:17 PM
Niobe looks at Peerimus as if he just fell off of the moon. "Won't the wagon be too heavy? I think maybe I had better just keep riding? Keep a close eye on my investment..." She pats the mare on the neck and hope that she isn't suffering in this cold weather. Thief doesn't mind huddling with others for warmth, but the wolf carcasses - that is a bit much for her.
Niobe isn't quite sure about those barbarians. Clearly they have a very different view of things than she does. She makes up her mind to say as little as possible around them so they won't get angered again. Niobe thinks over the episode that resulted in her becoming somewhat insulted. It wasn't necessarily so much the fact that the elder man was rude so much as the fact that a few of the others came to his beck and call without any questions. Sort of like servants. She chews her lower lip a bit as she thinks this over. 'I am reading too much into this. I should be thinking of 'one good turn deserves another' rather than pride. I really should apologize for being rude in return. That would be so embarrassing though!'

Ilsidur continues to follow along after the wagon, still trying to figure out the snowshoes. He is glad that no-one took offence to the ice people, and says to Shiraz, "I know how difficult it is for you to do what the barbarians ask. But please realize, we need to get somewhere warm, or we may be in serious trouble. And who knows what the customs are like here, let's wait and find out."

Noon Day Meal (DM/Al) Monday June 21st, 2004 11:20:57 PM
Some climb into the wagon with the wolf carcasses, huddling together for shared bodily warmth. The party move out after the barbarians. Morning proceeds in a silence broken only by the soft crunch of snow under boots, hooves, paws, and wheels. The wood of the cart rumbles. The bears speak in their throaty moaning calls every now and then. Occasionally, the wind returns to whip hard crystals of snow up into your faces. The bright sunlight reflected off of the ever-white snowy ground hurts your eyes. After a while, you almost regret not having the snow of yesterday. At least the clouds had blocked the sun.
And you plod on.
The field of ice spikes seems to go on and on. You pass between them until you no longer think of them anymore. They are no longer unusual. They are simply there. You see no more of the white hairy spiders, nor the ants, nor of wolves for that matter. The barbarians lead in silence. Occasionally, one or the other heads off at an angle, disappearing into the distance. After a time, he returns. They move very quickly. They are clearly slowing their pace for you.
And you plod on.
As the sun stands straight up in the sky, the men of Ice Vein stop. They sit in the snow in a small circle facing inward. They eat. You note that they pull their waterskins from inside their heavy wolfskin coats. Dried food, too, they have stored close to their natural body heat. The food and water that passes their lips, will not steal their warmth.
One of the barbarians, one of the youngest from the look of him, rises. He comes among you, and through gesture, offers food and water. He approaches Shiraz with a curiosity tempered by a liberal dose of caution. Niobe, the young barbarian eyes quite openly, and then looses interest. Barnum, and the dark bird Edgar in particular, he watches with fascination.
When he arrives at Sly, he claps the half-elven wizard on the shoulder with a gloved hand. His eyes are young and eager. "You will help us, yes?" he asks.
Half way through the rest stop, the cold descends upon Peerimus and his companion Yorick. Barnum, Edgar, and all of the animals under the Temperature spell feel it as well. The bite is like the crunch of fridge jaws. You all recognize the feeling. But it is far too soon. It should not be so soon. Your magic has given out.

Niobe isn't quite sure how to react to the young barbarian eyeing her, so she simply gives him a little, polite smile.
She huddles down in her cloak and shivers. The cold is really setting in. The thief reluctantly jumps down out of the saddle and checks the horse to see how she is holding up against the cold. Niobe notes that the shaggy mare is starting to get cold. Not really knowing what to do about that Niobe tosses her winter blanket over the mare, and secures the blanket so it does not blow off. Maybe not burdening the horse with a rider will help?
The shivering thief then ties the mare's reigns to the wagon and hitches a ride in the back of the wagon for a little bit; an hour or so. Right now the thought of huddling together with other warm bodies for warmth; and even those nasty dead wolves, is appealing. 'Nice of those barbarian fellows to slow down for our sakes. I am certainly going to remember to apologize for being rude and thank them for the courtesy; if I live long enough! Gods, it is unnaturally cold here.' When Niobe is done bundling up only her eyes can barely be seen peeking out from under clothing, a blanket, her cloak and a carcass or two.

When the young barbarian comes by, Savin will nod politely but not say anything. He will head over to the leader who told them to join them, bow deeply and say, "I am sorry if I gave offense earlier. It wasn't my intention. Thank you for your help."

Peerimus pushes on with the cart though the yak is doing a fine job without his assistance. Yorrick moves with him walking on the left and then the right at the druids command to use the exercise, body heat and friction to stave off the piercing cold. While not too important now, it could be life saving practice once his fears are realized, that of the protectional spell on himself and Yorrick failing.
Peerimus can see the penetrating cold and the effect it has on the other animals, humans and such are harder to read, but not the animals. He seriously doubts any will make it to the camp if they do not stop to warm up.
Midday. The trek halts and dried food is brought out. Peerimus shifts back and sets up a make shift canvass lean to off the wagon bringing Yorrick to sit beside him just as the spell fades and the cold settles deeper. Peerimus eats a few bites and drinks alot of water and gives some large portions to Yorrick, almost draining his supplies in the prossess. There was no use in conservation if in doing so kills you.
Keeping Yorrick in the canvas wrap, the sun should heat it for some comfort, Peerimus moves out to check on the others, both man and beast. Doing what he can to warm and help them. Encouraging any who have not had much physical activity to move about, if only pacing to warm themselves, to add any extra clothing layers they have and so forth.
For the remainder of the days walk, Peerimus will stay in human form to be able to help the others in hypothermia prevention.

Ilsidur's teeth chatter as the cold penetrates the magical cloak, and causes his armour to cool to the point of causing pain. He feels the cold sapping the energy from his body, and wonders how soon it will be until the Children can once again get warm. [OOC: Takes a further 10 hp subdual damage for being in the adamantine armour.] At the lunch stop, Ilsidur gratefully eats the proferred food, then approaches the head barbarian, and asks respectfully, "Can you please tell me how far we need to travel to get to somewhere warm? My friends and I are certainly suffering in this cold, since we are not used to it. We will need to get somewhere warm soon, or we will be as stiff as those wolves on the wagon."
Out of the Ice Spike Forest (DM/Al) Tuesday June 22nd, 2004 11:47:41 PM
The cold is the cold. And some of you find protection is not a luxury here. It is a necessity. Like air. Shiraz, the least heavily clothed, in particular begins to realize that the danger in the cold, is not in it's harsh bite. It is in it's relentless, unceasing, and uncaring assault upon the body.
Niobe, though safe behind her veil of magic, sees that the horses, especially the horses, do not fare well against the cold of Ice Vein.
Some of you emulate the barbarian ways as they have their own survival based logic.
The young barbarian looks puzzled when Sly about the kind of help they need. "You don't know?" Surprised, he replies with a question of his own. "But you came with us? Why would you come with us if you did not wish to help us with the Cache Tent? With the Twin Tusk?" His bushy brows meet in a frown of concentration as he tries to follow a train of reasoning. Finally, he shakes his head.
"You have powerful magics," he turns to Peerimus under the canvas ten with an enormous bear. Then to Shiraz, with the head of a bull and the body of a man. Barnum, half the size of any barbarian, and yet clearly not a child.
"He shakes his head. "I do not understand why you follow us if not to help."
Meanwhile, Savin approaches the leader. The gray streaked barbarian rises as the monk draws near. "I am sorry if I gave offense earlier. It wasn't my intention. Thank you for your help." he says.
The gray streaked hunt leader crosses his arms across his broad chest, and stands for a moment in consideration. Then he nods to Savin, and reaches out to grasp him by the shoulders with large gloved hands. He leans in, and the monk feels warmth against the side of his neck as the barbarian exhales a breath.
Ilsidur approaches and makes a case for speed.
Suddenly the hands stiffen on the monk's shoulders, and the barbarian pushes past him toward the dwarf. He examines the frost burns, and then moves to each one of you, stopping longer at Shiraz and Sly. He returns to Shiraz, and seems to come to a decision. He barks out several commands in an unfamiliar language. The rest of the barbarians, including the young one speaking with Sly, jump to their feet, and begin preparing to break the noonday rest camp.
"Quickly, we must go if you are all to survive."
"If we are fortunate, we will reach Smashed Teeth tonight," he replies to Ilsidur's previous question.
"If you cannot keep up, you must ride the wagon," he shouts out again.
With that, all of the barbarians get behind the cart and begin to push. The cart momentarily bogs in the snow, but slowly picks up speed until it is moving along at what is clearly the average speed for these men of Ice Vein.
Time and snowy distance pass with only the sounds of the cart propelled by straining legs. Suddenly you break from the ice spikes and the world is made anew with their absence. Ahead of you is a flat snowy plain, bright and glaring in the afternoon sun.

If it looks like the horse can hack carrying her then she will ride again, if not then she will walk for awhile leading the horse. "If you want to adventure with these people that is fine with me. I will follow you. I just hope we get paid..." Niobe is only speaking to Sly, and makes very sure that the barbarians cannot hear her comment about pay.
Niobe squints against the glare of the sun on the white, flat stretch of snow. She wonders if there is anywhere safe to leave the animals stabled and warm once they reach some sort of 'civilization'. She doesn't dare ask the barbarians since she is certain that they will only be offended by her questions. The thief considers asking Sly to inquire about longterm stabling of the animals since he seems to get along fine with them. Yet she doesn't ask.

Much of what Sly says to the young barbarian seems to flow through him without understanding. Strange words he has no reference for. But it is clear that he has understood the important part. "We head for Smashed Teeth now," the he calls back as he runs off to join his companions.
Ilsidur touches his minotaur companion with a spell. It helps. And who knows how long it would have lasted, as Savin takes the moment to give the minotaur his protective boots.
The gray leader nods silently as Shiraz and Ilsidur add their weight and muscle to the task of pushing the cart.
The cart rolls over the plains of ice and snow quicker than before. The yaks of burden strain less in their harnesses with the help from behind.
The animals follow along, without apparent problem. The horses appear dazed, or perhaps it's miserable.
As before, one or the other of the barbarians will abandon the cart. This time, they run at full speed into the distance. After a while they return.
One returns, but this time, instead of immediately joining those who push the cart, he puts a gloved hand to the leader's ear and whispers. The leader frowns. Seconds roll by, with the cart traveling over the ground. A minute. Two. The leader's face is drawn in lines of thought. At last, he stops and raises a hand, calling out in the language of the barbarians. He looks at Sly, then at Savin. He chooses Savin.
"Wolves," he says. "Twelve. My tribe must have food. Food and pelts. If we can kill them quickly ... " He looks at your sad eyed animals. He looks at the man before him and the minotaur, both ravaged by the cold. "It is this time we have left to reach Smashed Teeth village." He points one hand to the sky and the other at the horizon in an arc that represents time. You figure it's about four hours. "This much more maybe if we hunt." He holds his arms up again to give one more hour.
"Will you hunt with us?"

"Here's a thought. How about these gentlemen take a couple of us with them to hunt the wolves, and leave us at least one guide to show the rest the way to the 'Smashed Teeth'?"
Looking somewhat reserved she continues, "in a pinch I can help hunt if no one else; other than Savin of course, is in a state to go hunting. I mean the cold is really doing a number on some of the guys." Niobe is trying really hard to figure out why some of the guys are worst off than others, but she draws a complete blank! She knows that magic has some say, but that doesn't explain everything.
Niobe is aware that her suggestion about helping with hunting might not sit well with the men of the Ice Vein, but she had to make the offer anyway. She feels she sort of has to make up somehow for being rude at first.

Running On (DM/Al) Thursday June 24th, 2004 11:40:49 PM
The brief stop is, for some, a rest. Those pushing the cart have accelerated it's speed to over twice normal. For many this is slightly more than their normal walking pace, and they've had to trot occasionally to keep up. Not a hardship for now. But, as hours go by, it might become difficult keeping up with the barbarians.
For those who have joined the barbarians with the cart, this rest only serves as a reminder of how hard they've been pushing not only the cart, but themselves. Their muscles burn with the effort. As fit as they may be, pushing the heavily laden cart for two hours straight is a strain. And they feel it. In fact, they're glad that they are not now in combat, as each of them has the feeling that they may not be at their best. The barbarians seem unaffected by the effort. Perhaps it's true what is said about a barbarian's ability to shake off damage.
The barbarian leader listens to each of you as you speak. He seems confused by Sly's reference to returning his 'magic fire power.' He listens to first the slender woman who does not appear to feel the cold, and then to the man with the bear, and finally the short stout one. All speak of dividing into groups.
He looks around at the party. The yak-man has taken frostbite. The large muscular man who wears little clothing to show his tattoos walks the snows in silence. He walks as though he is stunned. So too does the little one who is not a gnome. The animals seem listless, and they shiver from time to time.
In the language of the barbarians, he gives a few terse commands, moving his arm in a circle and pointing off into the distance. The rest seem surprised.
"We cannot split. Twelve wolves is too much. Yours suffer from cold. We will go." He takes a deep breath before whipping off his coat and placing it upon the disguised Jurgen.
"We go!" he shouts.
You push on. Snow runs under the wheels. The sun sinks lower in the sky until it hangs, a yellow orb, just over the horizon.

Niobe doesn't have anything left to cover her mare with against the cold. These last two hours have been really bad on the animal. The poor mare is really starting to show the damage from the cold. Niobe will now lead the mare forward, she will not be riding anymore.
Niobe talks to the mare in a soothing voice trying to keep the mare pushing onwards towards what she hopes is some form of safety and warmth at Smashed Teeth. "Only a couple more hours. A little longer and you will be warm and safe with your herdmates. I sorry that you are suffering."
She would help push the cart, but there are already so many helping out that her help would probably be pointless. Luckily Niobe has the endurance to keep up the pace with the others, even if she has to run.
Niobe does try to keep a look out for any danger but the snow glare isn't easy on the eyes.
(Mare: Fortitude DC22 21 (+2? = 23; in which case this one wouldn't have failed but I don't know if the bonus included the animals or not), DC23 11 (+2? = 13), either 12 or 6 dmg depending on if Peerimus' bonus counts for the animals.)

Sly listens to Savin, "I did buy two sets of winter clorhes, two Cloaks of Comfort and two set of Boots of winter just in case I find my mother in this frozen land. He can have her set of Cloak and Boots. I also have bought extra blankets. I may have four or five left. For anybody who can use them. And I thought I over bought."
Luke has his head down, he want to go hunting with Sly and the barbarians.

Peerimus nods to the dwarf as he speaks of curative magic. "Ilsidur, remember we both have a healing wand we can use, I will monitor our animals and you can monitor us." Overhearing Savin, Peerimus moves over and gives him a pat. "Let me get those extra blankets to the animals friend." Peerimus will continue to move through the group giving what aid he can to warm both men and beasts.
Peerimus stays with Niobe's horse for some time talking in soothing tones and comforting the animal. He will then take out a wand and cast Cure Serious Wounds upon it. [for a wold stinkin 9]

Sly goes into his Little Ivory and Golden Chest, open it and it turns into a Big Ivory and Gold Chest. Sly gets out six extra blankets and gives them to Preemus, "I bought about ten blankets I gave Nioby one or two and I'm useing two myself. So here give them out to those in need." Then he closes the chest again, putting the little snuff box back into is pocket.
Hey! wait a minute, Why don't we put the dead wolves into the Chest and we can carry the whole lot in the palm of my hand?? There's a lot of room in there??"

As you run on, clothing is redistributed. An extra set of boots and an extra cloak that Sly has brought along now protect both Savin and Barnum.
The animals are padded with blankets. Blankets ill fit a moving animal and they don't seem to do much good. Niobe's shaggy haired pony whickers in the cold. She dismounts and walks next to it. She strokes it's neck, while tossing her head and making small noises by blowing air from her nose and mouth. Her mount responds, nuzzling her gently while they walk. It's spirits seem lifted, despite it's suffering.
Magic is employed as well, and the barbarians all watch from the corners of their eyes as the bear-man makes frostbite melt away.
The barbarian leader, having given up his coat for the disguised Jurgen, also seemed to take the cold. For the most part he shakes it off, but clearly not all of it.
And you plod on over the snow. The sun drops and hides it's bulk behind the curve of the Wold. Shadows grow long. Soon it will be dark and it is long past the time you would normally stop to set up camp. Traveling is dangerous at night. Even lantern light casts deceptive shadows that can lead to a sprained or broken ankle. The race becomes one against both the light and the cold.
Finally, however, a spot appears in the distance, a small darkness against the white. It grows as you near, and now that you see it, each footstep seems filled with that much more fatigue, that much more anxiety for your suffering friends and animals. Each footstep needs to be there now.
An age and a half that can be no more than twenty minutes finally brings you to the point at which you can distinguish the different structures that make up the village. Fur swaddled figures emerge as from nowhere, and approach you at a run. Soon you are surrounded by arms that support, hands that guide and relieve you of burden, eyes, that glance at you with curiosity.
Barnum and Edgar, as well as Jurgen and his blink dog are lead away. Amid the tumult, the gray streaked leader says something about healing and "Sweat Lodge." The animals are unhitched from the wagon, with it's load of wolf carcasses. And it is pushed off in a different direction.
You are all lead to a structure of what appears to be a frame of bone covered by layers of hides. It stands low to the ground, no more than five feet high. You make your way around the perimeter and judge it to be a rough circle of about 50 feet in diameter. As you round the curve of the structure, you come to a 20 foot extension that juts out of the circle at a perpendicular angle. As you approach the end of this extension, the icy ground slopes gradually away, clearly carved away by barbarian hands, until, as you reach that end of the extension, it is clear that it is a tunnel of sorts. and that the icy ground has been dug out to lower the floor and expose less of the structure to the air above. The tunnel is barely wide enough for a horse and a man to walk side by side. And it is blocked five feet in by a heavy hanging hide door. Pulling the door aside brings you into a dimly lit segment of tunnel that fits two horses end to end. Before entering the main part of the building, there is another hide door. You realize that this is something of an anteroom. An airlock to keep the heat of the main building from escaping.
Pulling away the second hide door, you enter the structure itself. It too is dimly lit, and after the run across the fridge landscape of Ice Vein, comfortingly warm. Several animals stand within the gloom. This is clearly some sort of stables. You are in Smashed Teeth Village. Your animals can rest and recover in here. You have arrived at a haven against the deadly cold of the plains of Ice Vein.
[[ OoC ]] It is two hours since last post. Last time, folks. Final damage for the past two hours. You have arrived!
** Next week DM Justin takes over again. Welcome back Justin. Take it away. ^_^ **
** Sorry Sly, I have no idea what this Chest does. On your character sheet it's described as a Gold Snuff Chest with the party's treasure in it. That's all. **

The barbarians are impressed and grateful. Even though they may not show it.

The mare is faring worst and worst with the cold. So arriving at the village is a relief for both Niobe and the mare. Niobe will take care of her mare before leaving her to rest and heal in the stables. When the horse has been groomed, fed and generally taken care of Niobe will leave the stables and carefully take a look around the village. She will be very polite, friendly and cautious around the villagers.

((OOC: I leave on my vacation today, so this is my last post for now. I will not be able to send in the ADM report for this week either. I hope that someone can do it for me for this previous week. Either that or I can do this previous week and the upcoming week in one report when I return. I hope that Niobe is either NPCed for the week or that someone can sub for me.))

Sly follows every body, when they arrived at what looks like a stable. He will put up his horse first. Will cast burning hands on his hands, then rub the horse down (with a blanket on the horse so that will get very warm also)
Sly then tales his Sleeping bag of Comfort (another Magic Item), putting Luke in side of it (to heal and warm up) "Now you wait for me to get back and we'll both take a nap.
Sly will go around to the others and help with their mounts, Yacks or wagon. If anything else is needed he will help there too.
After all this is done he will go and ask some of the barbarians as to what help is needed.
Sly Saturday June 26th, 2004 3:16:35 PM
As for resting Sly will right in his note book:
Chapter Three
We are in deep snow and slowly freezing to death. It seem that in this place our magic is getting weak.
We finally came across some Barbarians. They are bery hardy and very good looking, they were very werry of us. The leader ask us as to why we came to their land, I told them that I had heard that my trib was taken by Slavers, I also was told that they just might be here in Ice Vane. I also ask if they had seen some Slavers around here. Well these people don't give out infomation with out proving our selves. Now to prove ourselves we have to go on a quest for then. Their Moto is "A Favor For A Favor", it is a good one.
Sly
Savin Saturday June 26th, 2004 10:37:15 PM
Savin will look at the village with amazement, drinking in the details. He will have helped with the pushing of the cart, but not be as winded as some of his companions, (ooc endurance feat, shouldn't we have to make saving throws to determine if we are winded? That is why I took the feat.)
He will walk up to the leader who rescued them and say, "You have my thanks for saving my friends. My name is Savin. How can I be of service to you and your tribe?"
Al: The Endurance feat mentions Running and the Forced March. This is not a Forced March which is defined as a march over 8 hours in a day. It's not continuous running either which would have put you at four times your land speed. Rather it is a hustle, which is, essentially, continuous double movement. PHB page 164. There is no Fortitude check listed for a Hustle.
The points you took were only subdual. And would have been recovered with a few good hours of rest. In the spirit of the Endurance feat, however, if you'd like, you may go without having taken any damage from the hustle. Keep in mind, that this is not a precedent, however. This is a one time thing. In the future, should this become an issue, the rules in the book stand.
Ilsidur (Fatigued from the hustle, about -15 for the cold subdual damage) Sunday June 27th, 2004 11:15:53 PM
Ilsidur slumps down inside the doorway of the structure, trying to catch his breath. "Well met ... thank you for the warmth ... my name is Ilsidur Wayfinder ... and we are called the Children ... of Chaos ... We are here searching ... for my friend's family ... We were told that ... they were taken by slavers ... to the Ice Vein ... We thought we were ... protected from the cold ... obviously not well enough."
Completely out of breath from his panting speech, Ilsidur waits to see what their hosts have to say.

It is with a concerned eye, the druid works on keeping the animals warm and the frost bite from getting too severe. Smashed Teeth could not come soon enough. Even mighty Yorrick is showing the stress of this frigid walk and poor Luke. The destination needs to be soon. [Peerimus DC25..22, DC 26..26 1 miss 5dmg; Yorrick DC25..21, DC 26..17 2 miss 6dmg]
At last, Smashed Teeth and the promise of shelter from this cold. Peerimus notes the structure and its construction with a careful eye. If the group moves off into this frozen land he would benefit from learning all he could on constructing shelter for his friends if there comes a need. The druid moves among all the animals and inspects them. To any of his friends as he does so, "No offense to your skills." [Heal check 16]
Once the animals are taken care of, he will look on his friends [Heal 26] Finally he will approach the barbarian hunting leader, assuming he is still about. Clasping his hands together across his chest with his elbows perpendicular to the ground, he nods breifly. "Our thanks, we are in your debt." Peerimus will wait for a moment if a response is forthcoming and if one does not he nods again and moves to re-survey the animals.
Justin Webber (DM) Smashed Teeth Village Monday June 28th, 2004 11:03:57 PM
(OOC:Thanks for the welcome Al. Alittle late post here sorry about the guys and ladies. Congradz to Al on such good posting and descrption.)
After some much needed care the animals look to be doing better. Their spirits are up since they are now in a much warming place and most lay down to enjoy it.
Ilsidur's little speech cetches the hunting party leader's ears and he shakes his head before grabbing Ilsidur's arm and pulling him up to help, he issues a single word before walking out of the animal lodge, "rest."
Peerimus finds the barbarian leader outside of the animal housing lodge and the leader does clasp Peerimus's hand but says little, other then a simple nod to Peerimus and a small smile that shows the hunting leader's teeth abit.
Niobe's looking around the village turns up that some of the tents are in bad shape and a couple have even been blown over with snow and are partiually covered. The village people all are curious of Niobe but say nothing as she walks about, everyone seems to have their own jobs and tasks to do and are set in doing them.
Sly's speech to the hunting paty leader gets a simple reply also, "You speak with leader later...rest."
The group after a short time is lead to a building that is similar to the animal lodge. Only a few barbarians are inside the tent, most of females but a few males are in there. Each look at you with interest but say nothing as they go about their normal routines of a couple cooking, stitching, etc. It looks like the men are relaxing abit and probably are returned hunters or maybe guards off duty now.
Savin d20+9=18 Monday June 28th, 2004 11:21:33 PM
Getting no where in his conversations, Savin decides to leave off and get some rest. He will sit down and pull out his pan pipes and play softly (perform 18)
Shiraz Tuesday June 29th, 2004 2:02:14 AM
ooc Sorry Have an additional 3 people living in teh house for 6 to 8 weeks just got wore out.
Shiraz takes Savins boots and Ilsidurs spell with a slight nod and continues pushing the cart withthe barbarians. Shiraz agrees to hunt with the barbarians and look sa little down trodden that they dont but the undisguised look on Shirazs face as they enter a haven from teh cold is pure happiness.
Sly and Luke Tuesday June 29th, 2004 6:41:10 AM
As Sly finishs writing in his note book, putting the book away, will wash his face, take his cape off, crawl into his special bed roll, throws his cape over them. Them ask Luke "Are you Comfy?" Closes his eyes and fall to sleep wit his arms around the dog.
Luke answers "Yyyeeessss!" also falls to sleep.
Niobe (NPC'd by Al) Tuesday June 29th, 2004 7:46:39 AM What are these people looking at? On the one hand it's flattering. On the other hand, there are distinct disadvantages to attracting so much attention. When you don't want to, that is.
When Niobe returns from her walk around the village, she tells everyone about the wind damage. "Looks like we're not the only ones who have it hard here."
She's not really hungry, still, "Wonder what's for food around here?" she asks.
Ilsidur Tuesday June 29th, 2004 10:57:15 PM
Ilsidur takes the suggestion from the barbarian leader to heart. He pulls some rations from his backpack, and offers to share them around. Then he takes off his armour, unrolls his cloak, makes a simple pillow, and gets ready to rest for the night
