DM George Tuesday June 22nd, 2004 4:41:48 PM
Galafar trips over the axe and stumbles but catches himself. He spins to glare at the group, but isn't sure who did it.
"You all think your so shady. We will see. Your all on your last threads. Those misguided fools think they can trust you. I know better. The other packs are more loyal and you will soon be discovered to be a bunch of bouncers. Then I will have my revenge. Enjoy the limelight while you can."
Galafar will spin away and stalk out of the building.
As the Bloodpack reenters the chamber, only Trenic and Malafet are there to meet them. Trenic smiles and says, "Your loyalty to Rattledam and your skills are going to be tested once again. The monks have scried a strong source of magic very close to Rattledam. It has appeared suddenly and we can't penetrate it to find out what it is.
We would like you to take The GrassSwift and go investigate the strange occurance and report back to the Council. It could be a Baron plot or something else. We don't know and need some human eyes to to find out?
If you are willing, take three days to enjoy Rattledam and spend some of that hard earned money. The economy could use the boost. It will take that long for the Grass Swift to reprovision anyway. Do you accept?"
Gilan Tuesday June 22nd, 2004 11:07:05 PM
Gilan only hears Galafars words but does not stop to say anything. As he stated earlier, it is obvious that he hates the Bloodpack and would see them fail. The real question would be how far would he go to see that happen.
Gilan takes in the request of the councilor with a nod of understanding. With a glance to the others who are most likely as interested as him, he smiles. "I am in coucilor." He looks to the others to see what they have to say and then indicates Nain, Mac and Tishe' with a nod of his head and hand. "With the time and ok of the council we would like to get our new friends initiated into the circle." He waits to see if this is acceptable before he says anything else.
After an answer is given he looks to Trenic and Malafret with curiousity and concern. "By any chance do you have an idea of what type of magic...arcane, holy or nature?" Though it seems academic and a little bit of a strange question it has merit.
Jake Wednesday June 23rd, 2004 1:36:19 AM
Jake reenters after the others, smiling at Galafar's expression when the man can't see him. He hopes Flea isn't successful, because attacking a headmaster is one crime that not even he is sure he could stand the punishment for.
Tishe' Wednesday June 23rd, 2004 7:25:08 AM
The energetic woman listens to the councillor's words, and nods excitedly as Gilan accepts the mission. She rushes to join his assent.
"Certainly I would be part of any quest to keep Rattledam safe," says the plain-faced woman, as she paces next to Gilan.
Then she cocks her head and whispers, "what is 'the circle'?"
Mac Wednesday June 23rd, 2004 9:08:53 AM
"Well, yoo can count me in too!" adds the taur
Trellus Wednesday June 23rd, 2004 9:18:40 AM
Trellus remains stone faced as Galafar trips, but inwardly cringes. As the man leaves, he mentally goes through a list of who could have done that. Jake, Gilan, and Gry are out. Despite what Galafar may think, none of the old pack are stupid enough to publicly humiliate the Headmaster of Rattledam.
Tishe and Mac couldn't have pulled it off, and Nain is too new to try. Which leaves....
As they enter the Hall, the cleric whispers quietly to Flea. "Don't do that again. He has the power to lock us all up or banish us from Rattledam. And I kinda like seeing my family once in a while." He would have said more, to soften that a bit, but they enter the Hall too quickly.
In the Hall, Trellus nods in ready agreement with Gilan. "Mistress," he says, "The GrassSwift is unarmed. Maybe someone could move one of those big spear chuckers from that warboat to it before we set off?"
Flea Wednesday June 23rd, 2004 10:55:21 AM
Hidden from view by the legs and robes of the taller folk surrounding her, Flea goes with the flow, as the group returns to the council chambers. She hangs her head, when the cleric reprimands her.
Any feelings of remorse are quickly forgotten however, and leaning over to whisper conspiratorially with the lanky Jake, she volunteers, "seems the guys are on to your tricks. Maybe we can find someone from the Black Pack?"
Grymash Wednesday June 23rd, 2004 12:24:15 PM
Grymash responds to the Baron Plot idea. "Dat musta be wut Galafar be talkin' bout whens he left. Galafar says he will get his revenge on them, uhh 'misguided fools'!" The perplexed half-orc scratches his head. "Gry think dat whut he say. Galafar also say dat weez Bloodpackers should enjoy da 'limelight' while weez can. What is 'Limelight'? Weez not got any yet. Is it like Green Gnomish?"
Grymash turns to Trellus and whispers, "Why do thay only wants 'human' eyes ta look at da magik? Half-orc eyes are better ... Gry eyes can see in da dark too!"
Nain Wednesday June 23rd, 2004 12:39:08 PM
Nain listens to the other's responses and then steps forward to give his own. " I accept the task and look forward to spilling blood along side my new companions. "
DM George "Preperations" Wednesday June 23rd, 2004 10:30:20 PM
Trenic beams as she hears the group agree to the mission. "OK you have 3 days to prepare. I am sorry but we won't be moving the war equipment to the Grass Swift. We need to get a crew trained on its use to help defend Rattledam. Remember, you are only scouting the area. If you find the Baron's men, try to find out their intentions. You don't have to attack it alone.
If it is something else unrelated, then I trust you to use your best judgement. Enjoy your few days." Trenic bows and you can tell you have been dismissed.
OOC You have 3 days to prepare. As I have hinted before, prepare wisely.
Gilan Wednesday June 23rd, 2004 11:40:09 PM
Gilan gives a bow to Tenic and then turns to Malafret to address her specifically. "Mistress...about the others and the circle." It would help if they were endoctrined into the circle that is for sure. His hearttouch would have led Mac to him easier. "If we have three days, it would be ideal to see about them and bring us closer together." He bows again as he waits to see what she has to say on this and how she wants to go about it.
When he is able to finally leave the council chambers he pulls off a brand new pack and shakes his head. "Got some goodies at that Catacombs place and a Gry...you forgot this." He pulls out a small chest and hands it to Gry. He will notice that it is the one he got his reward from the council in and that he left in the Catacombs. "Do we have someone in the group that can cast identify? It does not have to be one you can memorize, just be able to cast." He pulls out a set of rolled parchments from the pack as well. "Identify scrolls." He winks to Gry and Mac as he pulls out a wand as well. "For making you two big in combat...your favorite tactic." He lets out a light laugh as he waits for it to sink in.
With another thought he makes another comment to the group as he is walking along with them. "I also got 16 days of rations and 3 more waterskins...though I would like to distribute it among us if possible." He waits to see what else is decided as they walk away.
Tishe' Thursday June 24th, 2004 1:41:13 AM
The energetic woman pulls at her wavy brown hair thoughtfully. Nain seems a lot more bloodthirsty than she first figured, but that may be formalized heritage speaking. She seems to remember something about that in dwarfish society. And Malafret chose him to help, so that has to account for something.
She smiles at Grymash's misinterpretations, and threatens to a grin at some secret thoughts.
Gilan's prizes come as a welcome surprise. "I know the Identify spell," she says with assurance, "and those scrolls would be quite handy to use 'just found' magic."
Jake Thursday June 24th, 2004 6:42:02 AM
Another job already! Jake is slightly bouncy with excitement from all this, and can't wait to leave when Malafret gives him permission. "Guys, lets go shopping and stuff. Man, ah can't wait ta see Dancer's face when ah pay her back for tha two hundred twenty three beers I owe her." Jake grins and looks down at Flea, and nods at her. He leans down and whispers, "Yeah, they're fun ta pick on, we should go bug 'em while we have the time too. Say...ya wanna try on this cool belt ah have? It makes ya super strong..." he offers invitingly in a voice that only Flea can hear.
Trellus Thursday June 24th, 2004 12:28:12 PM
Trellus just shrugs at Grymash's questions. He doesn't know what "limelight" is either.
At Nain's "spilling blood" comment, the cleric grins. "We're gonna get along fine," he whispers to the dwarf.
Nodding his understanding of Trenic's instruction, he leaves with the rest of the group and listens as Gilan and Tishe plan. "Yeah, I got some shady stuff too," he responds. "And I've got some waxed spells if we get in real trouble."
"Does anyone NOT have a healing potion? And can anyone think of a way to speed up the Grass Swift in case we need to weave a way out in a hurry?"
Grymash Thursday June 24th, 2004 1:05:01 PM "Gry knows how weez speed up da Grass Swift! Weez leave it tied to da dock and weez travel on feets, Hee hee hee!" The half-orc then digs into his haversack and pulls out two pouches. "Gry gots sume gold ginglies an sume colored shiny trade rocks for da Catcombs ... Sevenhundrie an seven tens an four ginglies wurth (774gp) ! Anyones need help buyin' stuff?"
Grymash pulls another thing out of his haversack. Its quite large, and it puts a smile on Gry's face just as big. It's a green cask with a dancing gnome painted on it. Around the gnome are the words, 'Red Wyrm Brand - Green Gnomish'! It's easy to see the barbarian's intentions for the cask.
Tishe' Thursday June 24th, 2004 4:18:21 PM
"My brains been warped up trying to find a way on speeding up the GrassSwift myself, Trellus." responds the conjurer. "There isn't a spell available, but a Feather Token: Fan would help."
DM George Thursday June 24th, 2004 9:54:52 PM
The three days pass quickly and the Bloodpack find themselves on the dock in front of the Grass Swift. The familiar face of the Captain is smiling down at you and he is much better dressed this time.
"I thought I was rid of you, and here you are back on my ship again. Well it isn't boring with you folk but it can be tough on the crew. Try not to get them killed off this time."
The Bloodpack boards and the ship pulls away and out onto the grasses.
Nain Thursday June 24th, 2004 10:06:52 PM
Nain holds his tongue for awhile, but once upon the ship he speaks to the group, " I have not provided a great deal of information about myself just yet, but because secrets will only get us killed, I will tell you now that I use both blade and spell. I am able to use identify as well, though I'd not suggest the scrolls go to the rookie rather than the known friend. Typically, I deal in magic that improves upon the beauty of a blade, but I am able to use other magic if needed. "
Grymash Thursday June 24th, 2004 10:43:54 PM "Yeahh! Time be goin' by so fast. It like da past threez days never happen! Dat Green Gnomish have uh kick! Good thang dat Gry go gets nuther cask!"
Jake Friday June 25th, 2004 12:57:07 AM
Jake comes dashing on board the boat. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, let'sgoalready." He looks somewhat anxiously back towards the huts, and gives a most un-manlike giggle. But he can't help it.
Trellus Friday June 25th, 2004 9:21:16 AM
Apart from drinking with Gry, Trellus did take some time during the interlude to cast Continual Light on his silver hammer (holy symbol).
In response to Nain, he grins. "You must be new to Rattledam. Questions about a dude's past are totally discouraged."
"Looks like we got four warriors now -- Gry, Mac, Jake, and Nain. Flea does the sneaking, and the rest of us fling spells. Shady."
As Jake comes dashing onto the boat, the cleric shares a look with Gilan and shakes his head in resignation. "Who's daughter this time, Jake?"
Tishe' Friday June 25th, 2004 11:43:02 AM
The small woman smiles at Grymash. "These days have flown by for me as well! One day scribing some scrolls, one day washing and mending, and a day of relaxation and shopping and it's all over!"
She hefts her pack and staff to the deck and looks at the Captain. "Permission to come aboard!" she says with a grin.
Gilan Friday June 25th, 2004 2:30:01 PM
Gilan had a very eventful three days as he prepares some more potions to take with the group. He finds himself with little time to drink with the group, but does make it to the last night of partying.
Making his way to the docks to board the ship he smiles at the Captain and shakes his head. "We will do our best Captain." He looks around the dock and then is caught around the neck by a pair of arms. He wraps his own arms around Kaili as he kisses her lightly to say goodbye. "You take care my love and keep up with your training." He quickly wipes away a tear that starts to slip down his face. "You will always be in my dreams and thoughts my love." He then gets up on the ship and takes his place near Trellus to talk to the man.
He cannot hide the smile as Jake comes running up in a hurry to leave. Trellus's comment only makes the smile go wider as he laughs. "Last time I saw him...he was with the baker's daughter." He shakes his head as he figures that Jake is running again.
[OOC: If anyone would like to pick up some extra scrolls or the like before we leave let me know and I will help in buying as well. Just email me, jade_dragon_1974@yahoo.com.]
Flea Friday June 25th, 2004 4:31:13 PM
Flea declines Jake's offer of the belt. "Why not give it to one of the big fighters, like Mac?" Flea giggles.
During the days of preparation Flea gives her leather armour a working over with cleaners and soft oils. Her morning jogs around Rattledam are made all the more fun as she experiements with the magical properties of her nifty new boots. The gnome also gets in a little practice with her various weapons; bow, sword, daggers, and hooked hammer.
Before the group's party, Flea seeks out a woman skilled in the arts of beauty and self care. She gets her shaggy mop trimmed to it's customary chin length bob, and submits to the application of some smelly concoctions that restore some lustre to her dried out locks. She enjoys herself greatly at the party, inflicting a fair amount of damage on herself with the help of Gry's cask of gnomish.
The following day, a subdued rogue boards the Grass Swift, acknowledging the rest of her pack with a wince, as she puts her hands to her ears at the noise of their excitement to be off.
Jake Saturday June 26th, 2004 12:39:51 AM
"It wasn't just tha baker's daughter," Jake mumbles, grinning widely. His eyes go a bit dreamy. "Well, ah mean, there was both of his daughters...and then, there was Yenelle, and Tania..." Jake glances around and sees Tishe asking for permission to get onto the ship. He smiles at her warmly and takes her stuff on board the ship. "Didn't see you around, Tishe...you musta been locked indoors."
DM George Saturday June 26th, 2004 7:44:39 AM
OOC I would love to induct the new members into the second circle. Can anyone lead me to the ceremony? Thanks
If someone does, I will post it next post and get on with the killing....I mean adventure. I am holding off posting for Friday to get this done, so please help out.
DM George "The second circle" Saturday June 26th, 2004 10:29:01 PM
The bloodpack is enjoying their breakfast on the day they are getting ready to leave when each of them is contacted a monk with the simple message, "Malafet bides you meet her by the fountain at noon." The monk, who delivers the message, will quickly depart not waiting for a response.
When the party assembles at the fountain, Malafet will be waiting. She will be smiling and hold her finger to her lips bidding the group's silence. She will lead the pack down into the caves, where some of the older Bloodpack will recognize a golden door shimmering.
Out steps the ancient Manfi who was there for the original oath. Malafet will speak in an oddly formal tone, "Nain, Mac, and Tishe, please step forward. Mac and Tishe, you have travelled with the Bloodpack for a while now and have been found worthy by deed and attitude to join their and our brotherhood.
Nain, you are new to the pack but have also been watched and are deemed worthy to join the second circle. Your friends can tell you that the second cirle are the protectors of the Sargrass Plains. Protectors of its secrets. Some you will be trusted with, others withheld for now. Do you wish this responsiblity? Do you accept it? If you do, cover your hearts with your right hand and repeat this oath to the Mankife while bowing..Talki Fresal, dondit liki: the land, my life
Mac Monday June 28th, 2004 9:06:45 AM
OOC: Thought I'd posted already... &^*& computer!
IC: Mac raises his right hand to his chest. 'This isn't just another city watch...' he thinks to himself. His bow drops him down to a crouch, with two feet and one hand on the deck(?), but not on his knees. He thinks the words and the strange tongue, and then he says them as best he can. He awaits some signal as his tethered tail of hair falls off his back.
Flea Monday June 28th, 2004 1:44:28 PM
Flea will wait for the new inductees to pledge their lives to the cause of the plains, like she and her pack-mates had so long ago.
She will then bow her head, clasp her right hand in a fist to her chest, cupping her left hand over it and speak the strange words taught by the Mankife, "talki fresal, dondit liki."
If everyone gets this right, the heart tickle should be good!
Flea tries to keep a serious face, but her light eyes sparkle brightly as the new guys make their pledge and join the pack.
Trellus Monday June 28th, 2004 4:22:53 PM
As each of the three join the Second Circle, Trellus claps them on the shoulder with a grin.
"talki fresal, dondit liki," he says, sending them a heart touch. "Welcome to the Bloodpack."
Tishe' Monday June 28th, 2004 5:04:44 PM
"I was weaving like a bespelled loom to get everything done in three days." the small woman responds to Jake. "Some things are better done inside is all."
And then the monk comes and she meets Malafret with the others by the fountain. Her mouth quivers with unasked questions as the cavern and golden door is revealed.
Her brown eyes shining, Tishe' recognizes the solemn moment and the significance of circles of protection for the only permenant foundling town. Why is Rattledam so special? Why are the Barons after its secrets? And is the mystery of where her parents came from have anything to do with the other questions?
None of those thoughts seem particularly important now. Now, there is a chance to learn more and to protect these peaceful people from bullies, and that is enough.
She looks at the faces of the Bloodpack, her companions. The anticipation and encouragement and most of all the acceptance convinces her that though she feels like she has done little, they feel she is worthy. And thier confidence firms her resolve to never let them down.
"talki fresal, dondit liki." She smiles, then gasps in wonder at the heart touches shared by her freinds. Her pack. A bit of concentration, and she sends one out to all the Bloodpack, and is home.
Nain Monday June 28th, 2004 9:21:58 PM
Nain places his hand over his heart and repeats, "Talki Fresal, dondit liki: the land, my life" A smile comes across his face as recieves a feeling in his heart which he has never felt before.
Gilan Monday June 28th, 2004 10:10:25 PM
Gilan follows the others down into the underground cavern and watches silently as the others are explained of the duties of the second circle. When the moment comes he places his own fist over his heart, his other hand palm open on that and bows his head. Just loud enough so those around him can hear he speaks lighly. "Talki Fresal, dondit liki: the land, my life." He sends out a responding heart touch to the new members, then to the old pack and finally to them all at once.
Everytime he utters that phrase he feels the connection grow between him, the pack, Rattldam and Mother Wold herself. For him, the land was his life...as the pack and Rattledam has become. "Welcome to all of you...it is good to have you among our number." He waits to see what will happen next.
Jake Monday June 28th, 2004 11:13:43 PM
Jake sends for the heart pulse along with the others, but looks somewhat impatient to go on their next adventure. He says the saying quickly, and nods...looking to the next person.
DM George "Jumping around" Monday June 28th, 2004 11:18:22 PM
The Bloodpack jumps forward in time and have boarded the ship and have set sail. The Grass Swift sails steadily towards their destination, but is plodding along like usual.
The Captain looks at the charts and estimates it will take a few days to get where they are going. He says, "Relax and enjoy the ride. You have earned it. Hopefully we won't run into any raider ships but if we do, I am confident my passengers will be a nasty surprise for them."
OOC You have a 3 day journey ahead of you. Post for today and tomorrow but not tomorrow night Da.da DAAAAA!
Trellus Tuesday June 29th, 2004 11:04:40 AM
The young cleric of Domi wanders around the ship. He looks in the hold, checks out the galley, and tromps up to the bow to gaze on the open plains.
He lasts about 90 minutes.
Trellus finds the captain. "Give me something to do," he pleads. "There's gotta be some kind of heavy work that nobody else wants to weave. Anything that'll work up a sweat. Please. I'm twisting in the wind, here."
For the next two days, Trellus dives into every menial, back breaking task he can find, praising Domi all the while.
Nain Tuesday June 29th, 2004 11:08:22 AM
Nain helps however he can around the ship. He also sharpens the blade of his axe and any other blades that might need sharpened.
Jake Tuesday June 29th, 2004 2:35:30 PM
Unlike the others, Jake has no inclination to aid the crew whatsoever. Instead, he seems determined to play poker, which takes at least four of his friends. With a solemn vow now to cheat, of course. If he can, he will draw Flea, Gilan, and Tishe into it. During the course of the game, should they decide to play, he will ask Flea and Tishe to tell him of the places beyond Rattledam, especially anything about oceans, mountains, horses, cows, or famous heroes.
Later on, feeling bored, he will wander around Tishe, and finally approach her and ask her (while flashing his handsome smile and those warm half-elf eyes) if she wants to join him down in the quarters in a great way to waste time...half expecting a slap.
Mikey Tuesday June 29th, 2004 4:07:52 PM
(What is the DM's email address? I need to email an updated copy of my character.)
Mikey. You can reach me at Jasjen577@aol.com My name is George Nemeth
Flea d20+7=12 d20+11=17 d20+2=13 Tuesday June 29th, 2004 4:18:35 PM
Flea will orient herself on the Grass Swift going below decks to poke around in the stores. If confronted, she will say she is 'taking inventory'. She will pay particular attention to the victuals and drink. (Spot-12, Search=17)
The rogue will readily accept Jake's invitation to play at cards, during which, unencumbered by any childhood indoctrination from the Rattledam monks, she will blather on about the comparative merits of life in a countryside burrow vs. life in a city townhouse. That topic exhausted, she will go on for a while about the mysterious mechanical devices she used to mess with in her dad's shop. When she senses she is loosing her audience she will volunteer some stories from her experiences at a little tavern called The Giggling Ghost. She will tell about a cooking contest she entered with an elf and his dog, how she heard several famous speakers debate the relative merits of their gods, including an articulate rogue and a loquatious halfling. She will tell a tall tale about a fierce druid and his mighty bear companion, followed by a story of a young mage and an infestation of ferrets. Explanations will follow about magical tapestries and how adventurers can come and go through the wall hangings, although some return with broken bodies and hearts, while others return victorious. The gnome will gesticulate and dance about as she describes a great magical mid-winter's feast with a tree and presents, then, lowering her voice, her eyes wide, she will confess, "and once, I even saw the great heros Valdor and Myrridan." (Perform/untrained=13)
Tishe' Tuesday June 29th, 2004 6:13:29 PM
Tishe' takes to the life of a sailor with ease. Again she strips down for the voyage, with things like weapons and too much clothing a bother in sailing. She keeps her sage pants with a halter, and prominently displays the red sash around her waist.
The small woman is a bundle of energy aboard the GrassSwift, learning ever more grassmanship and helping the Captain manage the ship. But all her time is not spent in shipboard duties. Though backing off from playing poker or any other game of chance, she will sit around Jake, Flea and the others spinning, weaving, and telling her share of stories of life growing up in SkyHook, the magical city north of the Sargrass. "The city is separated by a river, and the bridge spanning the water is held up by four enormous Hooks that aren't attached to anything!" and "Everyone born in SkyHook can perform a minor magical spell, no matter thier profession. That's why our money is based on chits to exchange magic."
She is unaware of Trellus' need for backbreaking labor, merely smiles at the cleric as he goes about his duties. "Nice to know he can keep himself occupied."
Similarly, Jake's handsome smile and dancing eyes don't seem to produce the expected results. Instead of flirting or a slap, the plain-faced woman takes the fighter seriously! "Learning something is never wasted, Jake", she admonishes with a smile in her guileless eyes. "I'd love to learn some pastime that whiles away the hours." And with a flip of her ponytail, she heads into the lower decks.
Needless to say, Tishe' is not expecting Jake's activity to be amourous. Any advances on his part in that direction, and he'll be trying to avoid being trapped against the bulkhead with a Web spell:)
DM George Tuesday June 29th, 2004 9:47:41 PM
The Bloodpack spends the first two days enjoying the ship, doing domestic duties, playing cards and generally enjoying each others company.
Jake takes being webbed to the hold wall well and doesn't complain to often about it.
While sleeping on the 2nd night, Flea experiences a strange dream. Flea will see a beautiful church with strange animals surrounding it. She will enter the church and see a kindly looking man bent in prayer. He will look up at her and smile and say "Yes little one, you are coming to me. Thank Alemi for his kindness. I wish to be free. Please free me."
Flea will awake from a start and not feel threatened or worried. She remembers seeing this kindly man in a dream before.
Flea Tuesday June 29th, 2004 10:53:39 PM
With a start, the gnome wakes from her unusual dream. Usually she dreams of mechanical things, opening locks, trunks, and such. Once she had a bad dream about turning into a rapke, but that was after drinking too much glass grass juice. Recently her dreams have been about a red-headed sorcerer with a diamond patterned cloak...but this recent dream was different.
In the early morning light, the rogue seeks out the party's de facto leader, and asks, "Trellus? Who's Alemi?" She will then proceed to tell him about her dream, with as complete a description of the little man, the temple or church he was in, and the creatures that surrounded it. As the other members of her pack wake up, and approach, she will repeat the story to them. "I had a dream about this guy once before," she adds with a solemn face before adding, "what do you think it means?"
Grymash Wednesday June 30th, 2004 12:21:24 AM
Spends his day sleeping off the previous three day drinking binge. He doesnt have much to say. He gets up occasionally to stretch and flex. He reads a little (literally) from his Book of Gargul. He still compares Mac to the demon illustrated in its pages. If there is enough space on the GrassSwift, Grymash will perform some training exercises with his double axe.
Mac d20+10=27 Wednesday June 30th, 2004 10:51:49 AM
The taur watches Nain's blade-sharpening - trying to spot something new in his technique. [Craft(Weaponsmith) Check: 27] Eventually he sits down with the Dwarf and begins to sharpen and oil the two 'working edges' of his great axe. With regular strokes of metals on stone something vaguely akin to music happens. Most might not find it pretty, but it is a part of a greater work: the music of the forge at work - a praising of Domi. And as a child who grew up around the forge, it goes some way to remind him of home, and why he spoke the words. I'm no sure how the Heart Touch works, or how much it conveys about the sender, but here is serenity and contentment
Trellus Wednesday June 30th, 2004 11:03:06 AM
Trellus rubs the back of his head thoughtfully as he listens to Flea's tale. "Hmmm. Well, Alemi is a god. The god of healing, peace, general good and all that. It sounds like you got a vision, and that our 'investigate' mission may become a rescue. But I don't know who the man is. Can you remember what happened the last time you saw this weaver?"
He rubs his head some more and looks out over the expanse of the Grass plain. "This could get interesting," he muses.
Tishe' Wednesday June 30th, 2004 1:46:01 PM
Tishe' idly braids her wavy brown as she watches the almost mesmerising skill that Mac and Nain, without words, ply thier trade. Strope, strope, the rythym reminds her of a loom, and lulls her to think of her pack.
Fond for them all, and she smiles. Yes, even Jake, who would stand up to any bully. Flea and Trellus' words flow across the deck, talking of the gods. Grymash exercising and reveling in life (and, admitidily, death), and the composed Gilan, all woven into the pattern of the pack.
Gilan Wednesday June 30th, 2004 2:29:42 PM
Gilan wiles away his time in games with Jake, though he refuses to play for money...knowing his friend all too well. He volunteers around the ship to do odd jobs of different types, that he knows he can perform well.
This morning he finds himself sitting at the front of the ship with eyes closed, feeling the wind whip through his hair. He is doing a little extra communing with nature and Mother Wold. He does not get into any of the conversations going on around the ship as he does his thing.
He smiles as he watches his wasps play in the sky before the boat, chasing each other.
Nain Wednesday June 30th, 2004 3:55:58 PM
Nain nods to Mac, " Well met friend. The blade is a beautiful thing, is it not? Not many see beyond the blood it sheds. It is a thing of beauty though, forged by hands and hammer from metal given by the earth. "
(Mac will notice that Nain definitely knows what he is doing and that he is useing typical and trustworthy dwarven means of careing for his blade. He would also see that Nain's dwarven waraxe is masterwork and done in the simple but strong style which has been used by dwarves since ancient days.)
