The Insane and the Hope. (DM Jim) d100=38 Monday August 2nd, 2004 11:03:31 PM
Everyone makes it into the cavern, well that is what everyone thinks. Brahmah spots the form of Kanchana stop outside the cave entrance and start a spell. He mutters but lets her continue what it is that she wants.
Kanchana smiles as the powers of nature answer her prayers. The rock slowly starts to loosen and then lengthen in the desired direction. Soon she has the hole down to a five foot opening but looking back she finds that she will never find cover before the red she dragon gets there.
The others will never be able to get to her in time and the only thing that will remain will be ashes. She finds herself paralyzed by the realization that she is about to die and has mixed feeling about that.
Suddenly from out of the corner of her eye she sees a golden streak broadside the red mother and carry her off to the side. A bellow of rage fills the air as the red turns to slowly wheel back to the sky and higher ground. Several drops of a red substance hit the ground and hiss, burning the ground in that area. A gold dragon has also taken to higher ground, but it seems slower as if the earlier hit took something out of it. Soon a graceful but deadly airial ballet is started as both dragons try to gain the upper hand.
Vasch d20+9=24 Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 12:08:23 AM
Vasch continues into the cave. He breaks beyond the cave and into the cavern, "THE RED IS HERE!!!" He yells. He looks for the children and their mothers.
[Spot DC24]
Brahmah Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 12:16:57 AM
"Is Kanchana alive?" He sees her, then the streak of Gold. "EVERYONE TO THE BACK OF THE CAVE. FIND THE CHILDREN!!"
He wonders who will come out on top, if there is such a thing.
Zeoll d20+6=16 Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 12:47:15 AM
"You arre SO lucky," Zeoll tells Kanchana. "I'm rreally glad you'rre not dead!"
Zeoll follows Brahmah. "Should't we help that gold dragon?" he asks. But he is still new to the land of the living, so he does as Brahmah asks. Zeoll does not know what these children look like, but children are children. He keeps his eyes peeled. [Spot check 16]
Leets Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 2:48:23 AM
Leets tries to get a look at the terrific battle that is taking place is the foggy spaces. Avoiding some red sparkles falling from the skies, he holds tightly his morning star.
"Oh! The golden one seems to need help!"
"But there is so little we can do!"
Flat-top Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 4:17:19 AM
Flat-top is looking for the mothers and the children, "Come out Children! It's Uncle Flat-top! I have a brand new Gold coin for each of you!" He looks around,"Kenisha! Vruht! bring Domisha and Melanim out here to meet our old Liontaur Zeoll, he's back with us."
Flat-top turns to Zeoll "Wait until you meet these beautiful Unitaurs! Two beautiful Girls."
Flat-top forgot that he has Kanchana's Pouch with Ilder inside...
Ilder(ceil) Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 4:28:54 AM
Idler is shaken up by all the jumps, bumps and handing the pouch to some one else, when every thing is back to normal, he pops out of his cozy home "Grrr! Click click?" looking for Kanchana. He jumps out of his pouch and runs around the cave...
Managram(ceil) Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 4:32:57 AM
Managram is so happy to see his master again, that he does not notice Ilder running around the cave. "Bark! Bark! (You made it! You made it!).
Gecktar(ceil) Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 4:46:45 AM
Gecktar Start to yell at Kanchana, byt then sees the gold streek go by, "Kanchana! GET in... here... this... instant???" Now he want to see more, he look at the now five foot opening and tells Brahmah "Captain! we Minotaurs can get through this opening and the Weinic can go out too. But the Centaurs might not be able too."
So Gecktar turn to Zeoll, asking "Hey! Zeoll! Your a druid, can you undo the spell Kanchana put on these rock? So we all can go out there ans see what's happening?"
Vasch Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 12:38:18 PM
With fear still flowing through him, Vasch listens to the chatter of the others. ...Kanchana, very foolish...
"Stop standing there!" He says at the idle conversation. "This is not a picnic. Get the children ready to move!" Being purposfully rude, "This is not a show. You want to see what outside...I'll tell you...Burning Death. That's what's out there. Now stop standing around and do something useful." He continues to gather up things.
Kanchana Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 2:05:33 PM
It actually takes Kanchana a few seconds before she realizes that in her haste to protect the others she was standing on the wrong side of her barrier! Kanchana hopes that Flat-top was carrying her haversack because the pouches were all left on her belt. The poor half frightened to death and befuddled Druidess realizes that she needs a rest period.
"Bother and be damned! Isn't there another exit out? Away from the fighting." Kanchana's voice is shaky. She is watching the fighting not the others.
"Luck. Yes for once I was lucky. By all rights I should have been visiting Gargul again." Kanchana sighs heavily after answering Zeoll. "Does anyone have my haversack??"
"We would be a hinderence to Rythiniag. It would be best to either stay here or to flee." She is fully aware that she most likely will not be listened to. She is probably considered quite insane now. "Did he leave any instructions on the where abouts of that city?" Kanchana still looks unnaturally pale. "We have very little time to make any decisions..."
Kanchana (addendum) Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 2:07:20 PM
Kanchana had only taken Ilder out of the pouch and told him to run like mad into the cave... Hopefully he was paying more attention than she was!
Brahmah Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 7:11:57 PM
Getting confused and befuddled himself, not the sharpest dagger in the bunch, the Captain just stands there blindly gazing around at his friends.
Gecktar seems to be confused too, but Brahmah chalks that up to panic. At least the Captain wasn't alone.
"Not helping Dragon. Not looting. Looking for kids." He says out of breath.
Then he gets a very scared look on his face, almost as if the dragons were right on top of him. "Pah'caw! Where's my eagle!!!" He yells, looking at Vasch.
Paw'caw(ceil) Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 8:25:04 PM
Paw'caw who is hiding in the cave of the Gold, is in an alcove high almost at the ceiling. She is hiding there, BUT what this a voice?? why it her master's voice, she answers "Shreeech!"
Why yes it it's him alive, she jumps into the air or space and glides down to Brahmah.s shoulder, look at him square in the face, then she rubs her head on his chin.
Elder(ceil) Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 8:35:55 PM
Elder is running around trying to stay out of the children way, because he has a go;d coin in his mouth and don't want to give it up to the children.
He spots Kanchana, he known her as mother. So he runs to her, wanting to get in to his cozy pouch. "EEK! EEK!" he tries to tell her to put him into his home.
Managram(ceil) Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 8:50:43 PM
Managram is so happy to see Leets all in one piece and no burns, He jump up and down several times, when ha got Leets attention, Managram led him to where the mothers and the children were.
Kale(invisible) Tuesday August 3rd, 2004 9:55:01 PM
still invisible, Kale moves to the back to the cave and remains silent, waiting for the outcome of the battle
The Battle of Terror. (DM Jim) Wednesday August 4th, 2004 12:20:46 AM
The battle rages on outside with neither dragon seeming to be able to get the upper hand. Fire lights the sky as each tries to use it's breathe weapon to bring the other one down. Droplets of blood lightly hit the ground and hiss as the two make passes on each other that make tears and rips in the others skin. With a last tyranical explosion of flame and voices the two great dragons come together, grappling for supremecy with the other. The plummet towards the earth from high up in the sky, neither wanting to let the other get an edge in the battle. The red seems to gain an edge for a few seconds as she maneuvers to the top of the plummeting dragons, but that quickly changes and the last thing you hear is the sound of huge bodies plowing into the ground at great speed. The ground shakes and you find it hard to stay on your feet.
The group seems to have lost thier minds as the two mothers and the little ones are further in the cave. Their shouts echo for some time through the cave but soon die out as the echoes spread. It seems that they are all safe for the time being and the battle maybe over, but the group is most definitely not together and that is a problem.
Leets Wednesday August 4th, 2004 2:52:28 AM
"There is nothing we could do!"
Says Leets entering further in the cave.
"Come on Managarm, it's no battle of ours, and our friends need us right now..."
"Come on!
Leets will join the mothers, and talk to the little ones.
"Have no fear younglings, for Domi still have his good hand upon us...The sky may rain tears of blood and the earth may shiver under the power of the great wyrms, but it is nothing compared to the Holy Father's powers!"
Gecktar Wednesday August 4th, 2004 2:58:22 AM
Hypnotized by the titanic battle occuring, Gecktar has troubles looking elsewhere. However, the orders of the Chosen leader resound in the ear of the faithfull follower of Domi, and the Minotaur shakes his head.
"Looking for kids...Looking for kids...Let's move!"
Gectar enters the cave, looking who's there.
Brahmah Wednesday August 4th, 2004 5:40:37 AM
Happy to see his bird, he scratches her feathers with a finger. "Thank Domi."
"We're not all here, where's..." He can't quite figure out who's gone and whose not. But as is his way, Brahmah shrugs and moves on, looking for the kids and the mothers. He hopes The Gold made it through.
Zeoll d20+6=15 Wednesday August 4th, 2004 6:29:38 AM
Zeoll has the sinking feeling that somebody (somebodies?) are missing. But who? The liontaur continues to search. He is looking for children (although he dos not know what they look like). He is searching for Kenisha (did he hear Flat-top call her?). He is doing a head count (is Kanchana around?).
[The spot check is 15.]
Flat-top Wednesday August 4th, 2004 8:23:35 AM
Flat-top was knock down on his roump, he rises onto his hooves, checking each of his legs. Looking around calling out "Kanchana! Where are you? Toros are you caught out side of the cave? Kale?? are you here??"
Flat-top comes apon Brahmah, "Are you alright? I see Paw'caw found you. I though I heard the children deeper in the cave? Look there Elder draging some thing shiny behind him, Kanchana should be around hare some place? You know she saved our lives by almost closing the cave's opening, don't you?"
Managram(ceil) Wednesday August 4th, 2004 8:31:05 AM
Managran sniff Leets to make sure that the paladin was alright. Then starts to sniff the ground to see where the children are. "Sniff - Sniff" on the rock bed floor, he follows an invisable scent.
Paw'caw(ceil) Wednesday August 4th, 2004 8:34:20 AM
Paw'caw just sit on his shoulder enjoying the attention of her master, to her all the Wold is in it's rightful place.
Ilder(ceil) Wednesday August 4th, 2004 8:42:56 AM
Ilder had a gold coin in his mouth but something else caught his eye. So he drops the coin and goes after the dimond, head back to Kanchana. Then he come across a shiny thingie on a shiny chain, he drop the dimond and picks up part of the shiny chain, pulling it along behind him. Trying to locate Kanchana, it's not easy when the weasel is walking back wards.
Kale(invisible) Wednesday August 4th, 2004 3:55:41 PM
not wanting anyone to go out and search for him, an empty space in back of the cave yells "Im here! Dont search for me!"
Kanchana d20+3=23 d20+5=20 Wednesday August 4th, 2004 4:05:55 PM
Kanchana shimmies herself halfway into what is left of the opening.
"Are we leaving through here or out another way??" Kanchana asks fairly loudly.
"I have to know whether I should enter or stay where I am." Kanchana scoops up Ilder and whatever he is carrying and lets him back into his pouch.
"Flat-top do you have my haversack?" She then disappears from the hole to see where the blasted dragons are now. She looks very anxious.
If she is told to enter the cave then she will do so pronto.
(Trying to see what the dragons are up to: Search 23, Spot 20)
Vasch Wednesday August 4th, 2004 5:23:50 PM
Ignoring the banter going on around him, Vasch continues into the cavern. With a heightened sense of urgency, he searches for the children and their mothers.
The Mothers and Children. (DM Jim) Wednesday August 4th, 2004 10:22:54 PM
Kanchana searches the area but can see nothing of the two dragons. They both fell to the ground some one hundred yards away and that was further up the mountain. She has seen no movement of anykind since then as well.
Kanchana pops her head and half her body through the opening to find many of The Chosen have moved further into the cave. Flat-top is still standing around near the opening though as he has just recently talked to the others.
Several of The Chosen move deeper into the cave to the area that they left the children and mothers at. They find them just where they were left at, unless they stop to listen to Kanchana or wait for her, but with a sense of sadness about them.
Zeoll d20+2=18 Wednesday August 4th, 2004 11:18:47 PM
Zeoll sees that the children and others are fine. He yells, "Kenisha!" and gives her a big hug.
Then he sees that Kanchana is not here yet. Running back, he calls, "Kanchana! Wherre arre you?"
He finds her sticking half out of the cave mouth. "Hey! Get in herre!" He grabs her and helps pull her through.
[Note, per the 3.5 rules, a large creature should be able to move through a 5 foot wide opening at half speed. Even a hole of 2 or 3 feet width can be managed with an escape artist check.]
Zeoll's str check to pull his new friend and fellow druid free: 18! Woo hoo!
Brahmah Thursday August 5th, 2004 2:19:23 AM
The captain is oddly silent through this portion of the search.
Leets Thursday August 5th, 2004 2:23:20 AM
The Centaur paladin is glad to find the children and their mothers.
He gets a look outside and thinks.
"Well, it looks like it's more quiet...We should use this time to move away...What do you think Brahmah?"
Gecktar Thursday August 5th, 2004 2:26:37 AM
Gecktar whispers prayers to Domi as the mnstruous battle seems to find an end.
"Is everybody ok?"
"Thanks to the Allmighty Taur this is over! At least we will remember this!"
Brahmah Thursday August 5th, 2004 3:45:59 AM
"I agree Leets. This is uncomfortable in this dank cave."
Flat-top Thursday August 5th, 2004 8:56:59 AM
Flat-top stand there looking at the Gold's treasure, not taking he eyes off the pile of coins and other valuables, answers Kanchina, "I over here Kitten! I have every thing that you threw at me, except you pet. Is the Gold comming back?"
Flat-top turn his head to Brahmah "Captain, you know that if the Gold does not come back, we have to haul all of this down to the village, Don't You!".
Paw'caw(ceil) Thursday August 5th, 2004 9:02:28 AM
Paw'caw tries her best to cheer her master up out of his gloomie mood.
Managram(ceil) Thursday August 5th, 2004 9:06:40 AM
Managram follows Leets to where the childre are, now the dog wants to play with them.
Ilder(ceil) Thursday August 5th, 2004 9:10:13 AM
Ilder feel very cozy in Kanchana's arms, munching on another yellow pine cone.
Kale Thursday August 5th, 2004 9:39:18 AM
"Has the fighting stopped?" Kale asks no one in paticular
Vasch Thursday August 5th, 2004 3:34:19 PM
Vasch is releaved to see the children. "Be ready to travel." He says to Kenisha and Vrurt.
Kanchana Thursday August 5th, 2004 3:40:54 PM
Now inside the cave the druidess looks a bit more at ease.
"The dragons fell from the sky and I have seen no movement from where they fell since then. I cannot be sure that either of the dragons will be emerging from the impact any time soon."
Kanchana gently scratches Ilder's head and behind his ears.
"Thank you for giving me a hand Zeoll."
Kanchana walks over to Flat-top, "thank you for taking my gear."
She reclaims her pack and slings it over her right shoulder.
"Rythiniag's hoard should be safe for now. After all the cave enterance is not as easy to see as it might have been before. We need to get the cubs to safety; and Kenisha and Vrurt."
Kanchana is still not too concerned with the gold dragon's hoard.
Zeoll Thursday August 5th, 2004 4:55:39 PM
Zeoll enjoys the reunion and then is amazed at the treasure lying around. "Huh!" he exclaims. "This is quite a hoarrd! Is it ourrs? Who is Rrythiniag? Why would we have to haul this to a village?"
Reunited with his old friend Kenisha and introduced to the children, Zeoll is happy. "What a glad meeting this is!"
"Can we rreturrn to Hearrthold Keep now? I am verry eagerr to see ourr home and gaze again on Domi's Sacred Hearrt."
The Reunion. (DM Jim) Thursday August 5th, 2004 9:22:29 PM
Kenisha and Vrurt are both very happy to see the group back and in one piece. The two kids skip around the group now singing out the same words over and over..."They are back." Kenisha takes the time to give Zeoll a hug in reunion with him and welcomes him back with enthusiasm.
It becomes apparent that you could leave the cave and head out if you wanted. Kenisha lets Brahmah know that she has the location of the arch marked on a map that she was given. It also shows the location of the village that the horde is suppose to go to.
Vrurt comes forward a little later holding Melamin in her arms. "Maybe we should stop off at the village and at least let them know of Rythiniag?" To her it seems the best idea, after all she got the feeling that he had a love in the village. "Maybe this lady he spoke of knows of his cave...she could lead them here." She is more than ready to go as soon as The Chosen are.
Brahmah Friday August 6th, 2004 2:53:57 AM
"Yes Flat-top, I know about the treasure. I DO remember the promise I made the Gold."
"Zeoll, the Keep isn't safe right now. Hearthold Keep was taken by a faction opposed to the Children of Domi. We're not sure about it's condition yet. Domi's Heart...is..."
"Let's move Chosen. To the arch. We'll get a message to the village somehow." He thinks for a moment. "Perhaps we should continue in the morning. We could take a message to the town by night, tonight, and leave in the morning. What do you think Chosen?"
Leets Friday August 6th, 2004 4:24:13 AM
"Good idea Brahmah..."
Leets smiles at Managarm and get a look at the golden dog's fur to check his wound.
"We probably need some rest now that imediate danger is away..."
Gecktar Friday August 6th, 2004 4:27:35 AM
"...But we also need to honor our word to Rythyniag...He fought bravely and those villagers need to know he gave his life to give an end to the red threat..."
Brahmah (Illegal Second post) Friday August 6th, 2004 6:03:47 AM
"We are going to honor the Gold's wishes, but I think we need to be sure that the danger is truly gone. We should go back out to the path where we left the red babies and be sure the job is done.
Then move to the village in the morning, giving them the message and then go to the arch.
I've been thinking though, that if Rathiniag is the towns closest friend and guardian, they might think we destroyed him. Then destroy us."
Zeoll Friday August 6th, 2004 7:36:37 AM
The liontaur shakes his head as he tries to figure things out.
"Hearrthold Keep is occupied!?"
He does not seem to know what to say to that.
After a moment he has more questions. "Let me get this strraight. You made a prromise to a gold drragon? What was the prromise, exactly? And that same drragon was just killed by the Rred motherr drragon? How do we know he was killed? Did anybody see him die?"
"And if he did die, that means the Mother Rred won the fight! And she's just now discoverring that we killed herr babies! So any second therre's going to be a wounded rraging rred drragon coming in herre?"
"Seems to me we need info asap! Is the gold dead? What about the rred? I think the first prriorrity is to get these childrren out the back doorr, and fast!"
Flat-top Friday August 6th, 2004 9:20:40 AM
Flat-top Hugs and kisses the mothers, the children, tell them "Now little ones go pack your things, we must be ready to leave at the orders of the Captain Brahmah" Flat-top stands at attention, bring his hand to his for head. "Now go pack and be ready to leave at amoment command." to the mothers he tells them "We'll leave as soon as it is safe, not to worry Domi has been with us, so far he has not let us down. We did the imposible we killed four red wyrmlings, just be ready to leave at any time."
To Zeoll He tells him, "when Kenisha's Colt was born, which was half center and half liontaur. Vrurt's calf, which is half minotaur and half liontaur, they were born almost at the same monent. Trouble is that her brother was a High Cleric of the village and hated all Weimics. He said that the girls were Monsters form Hell and should be distroyed at once. We escaped form the village with an Illusion of fire in hutts, But in the mean time Someone killed the high cleric, It was not Kale, he had Domisha and of course we were blamed for it. And had a hard time getting away, but we did.
But we went back to Hearth Hold, The Three Hight Cleric got them selves an army toghther and for once they had a common goal. The Minotaur Clerics,the Centaur Clericks, the Lointaur Clerics each wanted to have the Children to bring back to their own Island.
We escapet by the fur of our tail, we ask for help, we were told to see this Gold Dragon, he said he would help us but had to take care of a problem of his. And now you know the rest...
Domi's Heart is with us, we did not leave it behind. BUT we are being chased by Mercinaries for the reward of a lot of gold on our heads, By Minataur's Army, By Centaur's Army, By Weimic's Army, We have to hide the children is a safe place. Kenisha knowns of where the Portal is to go there.
But so help me Zeoll, I'm going back to Domi's Home. To put Domi's Heart to his rightful place again."
To Kanchana he ask, "Can I squees through that opening? I want to see if the Red still lives or if they are both dead... OH! yes check on the bodies of the four red Wyrmlings?"
Kale(invisible) Friday August 6th, 2004 10:36:28 AM
the invisible Kale goes up to Brahmah and says "Ill look around outside. No one should be able to see me." then, without waiting for an answer, Kale exits the cave and takes a look around.
Kanchana Friday August 6th, 2004 5:01:03 PM
"It is a slightly tight squeeze, but yes you can exit via the cavemouth still." Kanchana looks pensive and a bit sad. "I do not think that any of them survived that plummit from the sky..." She holds back a sigh, "we should concentrate on the children's safety first, the gold can wait." Kanchana did not make any promise to Rythiniag to haul his gold to the village. Kanchana will nervously wait for Kale's return.
The Search and a Wait. (CM Jim) Friday August 6th, 2004 9:48:34 PM
A little talk leads the group to gather some information to make thier next decision. While most of the group stays safe in the cave for now, Kale slips out to check out the situation. Though Brahmah may not be happy about it, it is too late to argue.
Kale slips up the side of the mountain with as much stealth as possible. He quickly locates the location of the impact of the two dragons. To his horror he finds both dragons caught in a death grip with each other. Though the red had landed on top of the gold, the gold had been able to impale the red on his tail. Both of them are beyond anykind of help it would seem without the proper time to check.
The baby carcasses are further up the mountain still and will take at least an hour to reach.
[Not sure if anyone else left the cave. Kale did say that he left to scout.]
Brahmah Saturday August 7th, 2004 2:21:36 AM
"Kale, be careful. Make it fast. Return safely." Brahmah doesn't seem at all upset, actually, that seems to be what he wanted to have happen.
"Zeoll, we have things under control. In fact, we should be on our way very soon. The town will be informed about the death of the Red and the Gold and they will be set up with the Golds treasure. The promise I made is that the gold dragons hoard would go to the town and the Red dragons booty would be ours." He looks at the liontaur. "Have Courage."
Flat-top Saturday August 7th, 2004 4:32:49 PM
Flat-top ask Brahmah, "Want me to go out there and check on the red Hatchlings?? It will take me about an hour or so?? I cannot follow Kale, because I can't see him! What do ou say? Want to leave as soon as Kale get's back?"
Kanchana Saturday August 7th, 2004 11:50:46 PM
Kanchana decides to sit and wait within view of the cave opening. She is thinking that she just as well could have remained outside with all the milling around going on here. She cannot help but feel that they wasting precious time...
"Brahmah, I certainly hope that you will not ask us to waste our time hauling Rythiniag's treasure down the mountain. The villagers can do that themselves." Kanchana does not sound irritated.
Vasch Sunday August 8th, 2004 9:00:01 AM
"Does anyone have an idea where this Floating City is at?" Vasch goes to Kenisha, "Did the dragon give you the information before it left? Heart-felt reunions aside, that is why we are on this mountain."
Kale d20+10=22 Sunday August 8th, 2004 2:44:06 PM
Kale will take about 5 minuets to search near the two dragon bodies. if he doesnt find anything interesting or if both of the dragons are dead, he'll quickly move back to the cave and tell the others what he found(search check of 22).
Zeoll d20+1=16 Sunday August 8th, 2004 8:00:23 PM
"Kenisha has a map that leads to an arrch that leads to safe haven forr the childrren, rright? Ourr firrst job is to escorrt them thrrough it to safety."
"Then we can rreturrn and discharrge whateverr debt we have to the gold drragon. Does that sound fairr?"
"But beforre that we have to make surre we arre not missing anything." Zeoll spends the time looking over the entire dragon lair. He searches high and low. He looks everywhere, even away from the sight of the Chosen. [His search check is 16, because he does not have the time to Take 20.]
Leets Monday August 9th, 2004 2:22:37 AM
"Vasch is right! We honored our part of the contract, and it wasn't an easy one...I hope the Gold is still alive to give us the info we are searching for..."
Gecktar Monday August 9th, 2004 2:23:33 AM
Gecktar will use this quiet time to check the Chosen health, possibly healing them if needed...
Brahmah Monday August 9th, 2004 3:21:17 AM
Looking at Flat-top, Brahmah says, "Nah, Kale's taking care of that." The minotaur grimaces, knowing exactly what's going to happen.
Ingores Kanchana, for the moment.
He peers at Leets with a bit of a scowl.
Looks at Zeoll and shakes his horned head.
Then he looks back at Kanchana. "I swore, on MY HONOR, that one way or another the village would recieve this treasure, and by Domi, if hauling it is the only way to do it, I will alone. If it takes me months. If you want nothing to do with the village that's fine with me.
Somehow, though, I think that the town elders must know about the hoard prior to a herd of taurs strolling in and dropping it at there feet. "Oh here folks, the Gold Dragon that has kept you safe for so long is dead. Here's his gold hoard! Have a blast!" Remember the village the night the Children were born? Well, I can imagine the impression that little village might have, never having seen a taur. I personally don't feel like being burnt at the stake this week.
I'm sure this next point Leets will agree with. In any city, hamlet or village, there are corrupt individuals. I feel it best not to say ANYTHING to the leaders until I'm sure their decent people.
There are always other options. Sealing the cave and letting the hoard lie until we are sure the village can handle this influx of cash. We could set up a trust with a local moneylender as well, so that the town recieves limited payment monthly (or some sort of vouchers) so it wouldn't get out of hand. Though, they might be taxed horribly. I don't feel right about taking the Golds hoard someplace where it might be put to use against us or the church. If Martaeus got wind of this gold, dark clergy would be here like flies on Flat-top." He grins at the centaur to lighten the mood.
"Right now... I just want some sleep." He walks over to the gold heap and lays his head back as Rathiniag did. "Aw. Nice. Chosen, take an opportunity for the simple pleasures. Fall asleep in a dragon hoard." He's asleep.
Flat-top Monday August 9th, 2004 6:30:56 AM
Flat-top watches Brahmah relax, Has a smile on his face, Flat-top goes to a wall, leans on it andcloses his eyes "Brahmah! Stop Snoring! Girls wake me in the morning!" the falls asleep.
Vasch Monday August 9th, 2004 8:38:15 AM
"Let's just inform those in charge at the village and be done with it. They can come and get it when need arises." He says. "That guarentees the village receives it, we've fullfilled our pact and we can be on our way."
Vasch tries to sleep, but can't get comfortable in the dragon's lair. He spends the night cat-napping for 10-15 minutes at a time as he moves around the cavern. He does take the time in the night to go view the dragon corpses. After being sure they are both quite dead he will remove a large claw off the red and tuck it safely away.
A Little Rest and Relaxation. (DM Jim) Monday August 9th, 2004 11:24:20 PM
The Chosen in the cave talk over alittle of thier plans and what to do next. Kenisha is happy to spread out a small map that she has in her hands. It shows the location of the black arch that they need to get too and just a short hike from the path they must take is the village.
Meanwhile, Kale outside finds that through careful observation that the two dragons are indeed very much expired. It would seem that the gold was able to make good his promise to do what he could but it cost him dearly. This is something that some of the other Chosen had already had figured out earlier.
Searching the cave of the gold over, Zeoll is able to find several little trinkets and lots of coins...all of which is part of the gold's horde.
If anyone wakes up during their rest time they will find Vasch is missing from the cave. Kale will have also returned to report to Brahmah but decides to wait a little for everyone to rest up some.
[Vasch - Be aware that anything you take from the mother red will only be good for a trophy. She was not your enemy persay, but you could travel the extra distance to find the babies.]
Brahmah Tuesday August 10th, 2004 12:24:38 AM
Brahmah rests, fully aware he needs to wake soon enough to make some distance between them and the dragons.
He wakes some hours later and looks at the Gold's hoard. "If anyone has taken a keepsake from this Gold's hoard, I'd like them to return it." Not accusing, just informing in an authoritive voice. "The wand of fire resistance should also be returned, I think."
Leets Tuesday August 10th, 2004 2:08:58 AM
The Centaur paladin feels sad for the Gold Dragon...
"There are so few on the Wold, and this one disapeared almost before us...I wish we could have done something...If we had more time I would have stayed here for a little bit longer, to keep an eye on the villagers. They have to be good folk if Rythyniag used to protect them..."
Gecktar Tuesday August 10th, 2004 2:11:31 AM
"I'll pray for the sould of Rythyniag...He fought bravely and his purpose was noble...Maybe Domi will meet a gold dragon tonight..."
Flat-top Tuesday August 10th, 2004 8:24:34 AM
"ZZZZZ! Snort!" Flat-top rubs his nose (once or twice) then drop off into a deep sleep again. "ZZZZZ"
Vasch Tuesday August 10th, 2004 9:45:12 AM
Vasch returns to the cave after getting the claw. By now it's close to morning, and he decides to try again to get some sleep. Before finding a place to rest, he goes a takes a look at the little ones.
Tomi, may we all someday know a child's peace.
[OOC: I wasn't thinking totem bag for the claw. I was thinking of a cool magic item for later. A flaming dagger made from a large dragon's claw. Now I know it's a trophy, but that's what I had in mind.]
Kale Tuesday August 10th, 2004 9:52:59 AM
"Why leave the gold's treasure here?" Kale asks Brahmah. "He certainly doesnt need it. Did he tell you not to take it if he died?"
Zeoll Tuesday August 10th, 2004 11:58:55 AM
Zeoll realizes that he is very tired too. He rests with the others.
Upon waking, he prepares spells and wonders what path Brahmah will pick. He asks if the group will bring the children and mothers to the arch first, or deliver the hoard to the town first.
[Considering that the four-footed Taurs can carry 600 to 1200 pounds on a heavy load -- minotaurs carry one third that -- what percent of the hoard can the group move per trip?]
Zeoll's druid spells:
Level 0: Guidance x2, Cure Minor Wounds x2 Level 1: Obscuring Mist, Cure Light Wounds, Produce Flame
Kanchana d20+7=27 d20+3=22 d20+4=18 Tuesday August 10th, 2004 7:03:23 PM
Kanchana will fitfully get some sleep and then pray to Mother Wold for guidance and assistence later. If she has any time then she will contemplate the mysterious sword that she picked up in the red dragon's lair. Kanchana recognizes that it must have some sort of importance otherwise Mother Wold wouldn't have had her pick it up.
Kanchana does not agree with carrying any of the gold down to the village. She would rather opt for informing the village council of the dragon hoard's where-abouts and leaving them to figure out the details and logistics.
Kanchana would have placed the borrowed wand of fire resistence back with Rythiniag's treasure before getting any sleep.
(Contemplating the mysterious sword: Spellcraft 27, Int check 22, Wis check 18)
The Following Morning. (DM Jim) Wednesday August 11th, 2004 1:27:24 AM
Everyone is up the next morning a little stiffer than they would have liked but feeling better. A quick decision is made about the treasure it would seem and they have a plan.
Kanchana spends some time early after her nature contemplation to look over the sword that she picked up. It is a well made sword that seems to be of excellent quality. It does appear to be of a different material than most of the swords and would most likely fall into the longsword category.
The children are up early as well and running around the cave. While the grown-ups talk they take time stacking coins and making buildings with them. Soon they have alittle village made out of the pretty coins.
Brahmah Wednesday August 11th, 2004 6:37:57 AM
Brahmah scowls at Kale. "You know better than to ask that. He was a law abiding creature and I gave him my word of Honor. He said take what we like from the Red's Hoard, but make sure the village gets his ENTIRE treasure. It's tempting I know."
"We'll hike into the village, tell the elders of the treasure and then make for the Black Arch a short ways away."
Then he notices the coin village the Children have made. "Domisha, that is wonderful! Where did you see that town?" Thinking that Domi is speaking through the kids.
Flat-top Wednesday August 11th, 2004 8:44:33 AM
Flat-top wakes up when the children are making noise by singing and running around playing. He tells Kenisha and Vort, "Gosh! How I missed that noise."
He escorts the mothers to the meeting. and listens to all the plans. But the last word as to what they do, will come from Brahmah.
Paw'caw(ceil) Wednesday August 11th, 2004 9:19:54 AM
Paw'caw comes down from the loft were she nested, land on the pile of gold coins. She start to rub herself onto the gold coins, as if she was trying to clean herself.
She don't mind Managram, but she would like to swip the little weasel of Kanchana's. But to please Brahmah she leaves the little thief alone.
Managram(ceil) Wednesday August 11th, 2004 9:28:25 AM
Managram runs and plays with the children, licking their faces(because they were alway smeard whit left over food). He spots Ilder around the gold coins. Managram goes and licks the weasel, then he's off to play with the children again.
Ilder(ceil) Wednesday August 11th, 2004 9:46:41 AM
Ilder Peeks out of the cozy pouch of his, and while Kanchana was asleep, he made his way to the Gold's Treasure. Once there he tunnels in all those coins. He even tunnels to the children, pops his head up, sniffs them.
Then takes off to go to his pouch,But Managram stop him and licks his face. Ilder is so suprised that he cherp at the dog, with a wet face he pick up his coin and ran to Kanshana's side 'Cherrp! Click!' (as if to say HE(Managram) tried to bite me!)
Zeoll the Bard d20+6=26 d20+5=24 Wednesday August 11th, 2004 10:06:17 AM
Zeoll takes a look at Kanchana's strange sword. The liontaur prays to Domi for help, then he examines it, if she does not mind, and tries to see if it triggers any story or song he might have heard.
[Casting Guidance and then using Bardic Lore: Holy Smokes! a 26! Rolled a 20!]
The bard also looks over the village created by the kids and tries to remember whether it reminds him of any place in the Wold.
[Regular Bardic Lore: 24! Wow! Zeoll is on a roll!]
On the way to the village, Zeoll wants to look at the place the dragons fell. As he looks upon the ruins, he remarks to Kanchana, "You know, I have hearrd that some drruids wearr arrmorr crrafted frrom drragon hide -- even banded and plate arrmorr. That's too heavy forr me, but you might be interrested."
Kale Wednesday August 11th, 2004 10:38:14 AM
Kale shruggs at Brahmah response and says "Thats fine. Remember, I never met the gold dragon. I dont know what kind of deals you worked out with him." then Kale goes over and looks at the golden village with longing.
Leets Wednesday August 11th, 2004 10:41:04 AM
"Managarm! Don't annoy Kanchana's friend! You're much bigger than her and you could hurt her while playing!"
Leets checks his equipment and his wounds, and walks to Brahmah.
"If you need another Centaur to carry the treasure to the village, I'm yours captain!"
Flat-top Wednesday August 11th, 2004 2:48:49 PM
"I bet I can carry more treasure than you Leets." Flat-top smiles at Leets. But where are we going to get saddle bags or sacks to put all this stuff in??"
Vasch Wednesday August 11th, 2004 5:01:44 PM
"We should go to the arch first. Put the children and their mothers through first and then I'll help take the treasure where ever the villagers want."
Kanchana d20+4=13 d20+1=12 Wednesday August 11th, 2004 5:39:18 PM
The druidess scoops up Ilder. She listens carefully to what the weasel is trying to tell her (wild empathy 13). "I think he was probably trying to give you a snuggle Ilder. Perhaps Managarm was a bit clumsy though because he is accustomed to dealing with only Taurs." She thinks about this and then adds absently, "of course he could just be tasting you." The she-wemic looks at Managarm with growing curiousity. She will gently pet the weasel until he feels safe again, and calm.
Kanchana will happily let Zeoll look over the sword she is carrying. She will gladly welcome any insights he might have about it. "I have no idea why I picked it up, I guess that Mother Wold wanted me to have it for some reason. Odd she would lead me to a weapon." Kanchana watches Zeoll try and figure out the sword. "Is it something that you have seen before? Or heard of?"
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
(Diplomacy 12) "Has it occured to you that the arch might close after the children have travelled through leaving us here?" Kanchana asks softly. "We only need to tell the village council where Rythiniag's hoarde is and then leave with Kenisha, Vrurt and the children." Kanchana's voice is not patronizing or reflecting any ill-will towards anyone. "Our duty first and foremost is to the children; not to be pack-animals." Kanchana looks concerned. "If we are to send the children ahead first then I would rather go with them than waste my time hauling gold. What ever you all wish to do is of course your business." Kanchana smiles a little. "Personally I think that Brahmah's idea has some merit." Could that be because it was what Kanchana wanted to do in the first place?
(wild empathy 13, Diplomacy 12)
Leaving and Findings. (DM Jim) Wednesday August 11th, 2004 9:46:52 PM
Zeoll looks over the sword as Kanchana hands it to him. The sword set his mind off on a legend that he heard a long time ago of swords made out a special material. It was used in one of the wars between the fays to be exact, a metal known as cold iron. The blade, hilt and guard is all done in a leaf pattern but not ornamental really. The sword is a large version of a longsword, specifically designed for a taur or large creature in mind. The village does not spark anything for him and it would appear that the kids are just building to have fun.
There is still some discussion about what to do first but it seems that most want to tell the village of the dragon's death and let them deal with it. A good point is brought up about the arch may only allow the children and mothers through if they do not all go through at once.
As the party leaves the cave to head out on thier way to the arch and village, poor Zeoll finds that they are heading down the mountain and he will not see the dragons. Down the mountain a good piece they come across a path that they had noticed earlier and they follow it as the map details.
The group has been moving several hours and making rather good time. They may reach the diverging path to the village by supper time. It is currently drawing near noon.
Leets Thursday August 12th, 2004 2:26:24 AM
The Centaur paladin, as he looks after Managarm, notice Kanchana's new wsword and hears Zeoll's comments about it.
"Oh! It comes from the Fay Wars?!? But how did it arrive here? My mother often told me about those legendary wars...I wonder who was carrying this sword..."
"Well...Wherever we go, I'm ready captain!"
Gecktar Thursday August 12th, 2004 2:29:37 AM
Gecktar, as he said eralier, found a quiet place in a dark corner of the cave, and prays for the sould of the Gold Dragon Rythyniag...
"May Domi welcome you, Rythyniag!"
Once his prayer is over, Gectar also gathers his gear, and joins the group...
Brahmah Thursday August 12th, 2004 2:59:13 AM
"Village then the arch."
Kale Thursday August 12th, 2004 7:19:28 AM
"I never promised not to take any of the treasure." Kale mutters to himself as he prepares to leave. "Im sure they wouldnt miss a few things...."
Flat-top Thursday August 12th, 2004 7:48:21 AM
Flat-top sees that Zeoll talking to Kanchana, he feel a little beside himself, So he'll go over to her and ask "Hello Zeoll! Kanchana the children want some food, they seem to be hungry again. Is there a patch of berries some where around here?
OH! What that sword in your hand?? looks beautiful, where did you find it?" then is suprised when Leets tell him about the A Fay Sword, he tell Kanchana "Kitten, you hold on to that sword, because I belive in Omans."
Paw'caw(ceil) Thursday August 12th, 2004 7:58:06 AM
Paw'caw who in on her master's shoulder, hear the Children asking for food. She takes to the air (without her masters orders) and flies down the mountain a little ways.
She comes back in a few moments later, droping two fresh water Trout at the feet of the mothers. Paw'caw head fot brahmah shoulder.
Managram(ceil) Thursday August 12th, 2004 8:05:55 AM
Managram fells as if he did something wrong, so he hunts for yellow pine cones. He come back to Kanchana's feet with two pine cone in his mouth. Waiting for Ilder to come out of his pouch.
Ilder(ceil) Thursday August 12th, 2004 8:19:02 AM
Ilder pop his head out of his cozy home, he sees that Mother is talking to Zeoll, Leets and Flat-top about a thingie in her hand. He sniffs at it, Now he knows it's not food, But look that dog is back with food in his mouth, maybe he can steal them while dog is looking at the thingie in mother's hands. So down he goes and takes the food away from the dog, turns to go back into his pouch. But Managram put a paw on the little weasel (not to hurt him) but to hold him as the dog washes the face of this weasel.
Ilder schreehes again "EEEk! He's hurting me again EEEEk!"
Vasch Thursday August 12th, 2004 4:15:39 PM
Vasch doesn't say anything as the Chosen travel. He thinks of the children being safe.
Zeoll d20+11=27 Thursday August 12th, 2004 6:24:05 PM
The liontaur is not worried. "If a gold drragon thought so highly of this village, they must be folk of good hearrt. Arre they Taurrs, these villagerrs?"
"Eitherr way, let me go firrst singing, and they will know frrom my song that we come with peace and open hands."
If the group gets to the village now, then Zeoll will go first. As they approach, he beats his fine drum and sings, in common and Taur, of friendship with the people of the gold dragon, and of notable tidings. [Perform check 27]
Moving on With Problems. (DM Jim) Thursday August 12th, 2004 10:18:04 PM
The group continues to move on for some time till the children drop to the ground and start pouting. It seems that they are upset about something. Just as someone is about to ask they both burst out cryiing and complaining about being hungry.
It would seem that they expect to have some lunch even if the grownups want to continue on.
Vasch Friday August 13th, 2004 2:54:35 PM
Vasch almost misses the sounds of the children having their tantrums, but soon he hears the cries for rest. He cannot help but chuckle to himself at their ravings.
"I suppose a rest would not be a bad idea." He says and says little ease during meal break.
Flat-top Friday August 13th, 2004 7:29:51 PM
Flat-top tells the children "Don't worry Uncle Flat-top will get you something to eatt, See what Paw'caw brought you, two nice fish."
To the mothers "I'm going to get some salads green and berries. I'll be right back!"
To Brahmah "The children are tired and hungry. I'm going to find some berries for them. Then I'll carry them on my bach the rest of the way OK? Captain?"
To Kanchana "Come Kitten! help me find some berries and something to make a salad. The children are getting very hungry and tired."
Brahmah Friday August 13th, 2004 9:05:27 PM
Brahmah sort of scowls at the childrens whining, not from the their intent, but because of the high pitched squeal Domi used. "Yes, yes, okay. Food. Anyone have any? Oh, wait, I have some oranges I think. Maybe even an old apple." He digs around inside his pack. "Eew! Um, the oranges are fine, but the apples seen better days." He offers up the old wrinkled apple to Ilder. And an orange to each Chosen who wants one.
Zeoll Friday August 13th, 2004 9:17:48 PM
Zeoll looks at the kids and blinks. It has been years since he dealt with young ones.
He pauses for a lunch break with the group, and he prepares to lead the group into the village, so long as Brahmah does not object.
[Hoping to still use the Perform 27 check from yesterday rolled to lead the group in singing and drumming a friendship song.]
Kale Saturday August 14th, 2004 11:02:41 AM
Kale just rolls his eyes at the complaining kids and pulls out his pipe and begins to smoke, blowing smoke at any kid that comes near him.
Kanchana d20+15=33 d20+5=9 d20+12=17 d20+12=31 d20+3=9 d20+3=13 Saturday August 14th, 2004 3:40:55 PM
Kanchana slowly grins, "I believe in some omens, and I firmly believe that the Great Mother meant for me to take this particular sword - even though it is not among my favored weapons."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kanchana moves along the path with the others. She is always looking for new and interesting plants and such. She absolutely knows what to look for as food sources for the children, but her weary eyes seem to fail to spot any useful plants (including berry-yielding plants). Kanchana takes an opportunity to explain to anyone else looking for food for the children what the best plants and berries look like. She will inspect any finds anyone else makes to see if they are what she described and whether or or the findings will be safe to eat. The druidess also looks for a source of water to get water to drink for everyone.
Kanchana completely ignores Kale's awful behaviour towards everyone; especially the children. She finds him to be rather disgusting. Not a "people-person" at all.
Brahmah Saturday August 14th, 2004 8:01:54 PM
Brahmah's head tilts as he looks over to Kanchana with curiousity and confusion. "You have favored weapons!?!" (;))
Brahmah finishes off his bottle of wine, out of sight of the children, a few oranges(finishing the bag) and his waterskin. He takes out his 3 days of rations and hands two days to the children's mothers and eats his final ration. He doesn't realize Kanchana is searching for food, he simply wants to continue onto the village. He then reaches into his pack for one of two remaining bags of meat for Pah'caw. He then feeds his bird and throws a scrap to Managarm.
Vasch Sunday August 15th, 2004 8:43:33 AM
Vasch eats quickly thinking they will be back on the road shortly...apparently he was wrong. He is finishing as he hears the sound of Kanchana's voice telling the children of edible things.
This is a bad time for a lesson on foods.
Realizing the futileness of any attempts to get things moving, Vasch follows Kale's lead and takes out his own pipe. He slowly draws in each puff on his pipe savoring the flavor of the pipe weed as he sighs.
The calm before the storm.
Ilder(ceil) Sunday August 15th, 2004 12:22:00 PM
Elder Takes the apple from the sreange Taur, Sniffs at it. *sniff* turns it this way and that way, Looks at MaMa-Kanchana tosee if she agrees that the apple is good to eat. Then Bite it. *chump* chew - chew, Thinking to himself 'Not like pine apple??'.
Paw'caw(ceil) Sunday August 15th, 2004 12:35:34 PM
Paw'caw Takes the meat from Brahmah, eating it in one gulp, BUT she none too happy when she see him give Managram HER food. So she lays a bird droping on the back of his armor.
Managram(ceil) Sunday August 15th, 2004 12:47:45 PM
Managram take the meat from Brahmah's hand, sits and eat the snack with great smacking of his lips. he sit , looks at the bird. With a gleem in his eyes, "He! He! I got the last snack of yours."
Leets Monday August 16th, 2004 2:47:48 AM
Leets searches in his backpack considering the kids, and finds the last piece of dried meat...
"Here is something young ones...You'll have to chew it for a while, but at least here is some meat..."
Gecktar Monday August 16th, 2004 2:51:24 AM
The Centaur priest listens at Kanchana.
"Well...I've been thinking about this sword thing, and I also think it is some ind of omen...But I would prefer to wait for a while before giving my opinion. Some wounds seem too recent to me..."
The Village. (DM Jim) Monday August 16th, 2004 4:57:25 PM
The group breaks out what little bits of food they have and the children are soon munching happily. The rest of the group breaks out and has a little lunch themselves.
A search turns up a source of fresh water that is more than drinkable. The edible items that are found seem to be not to the childrens likeings, onions and wild carrots.
Soon the group is on its way and when they come to the turn to the village they go ahead and make it. It is a little piece till they reach the village but you soon do.
The walls are made of large logs cut and dropped into the ground. It seems very defensible for most causes, but against a dragon it would be useless. The front gate is open and you see people moving around inside. The two guards look up as they hear the singing and their spears come to a ready position as they watch you approach. As you draw closer you notice that they are both minotaurs and this strikes you as sort of funny, well maybe.
Brahmah Monday August 16th, 2004 6:29:47 PM
Brahmah approaches the guards. "We are the Chosen of Domi. I'm Brahmah and I wish to have an audience with your village leaders. This is on behalf of the Gold Dragon Rathiniag, a message of sorts. We must speak directly to your council or mayor." He waits for a moment for a response. "Please, this is urgent, then we'll be on our way." Brahmah makes sure he's inbetween the Children and the taur guards, knowing what happened last time.
Flat-top Monday August 16th, 2004 7:27:54 PM
As Flat-top trots along with the unitaurs, the mothers and Kanchana, he tell the Little ones"Now children! you must eat your vegies, they are very good for you." They all follow the male folks down the path leading to the village.
When they come into sight of the village, Flat-top make the girls stop. "Wait for a few minuted!" he watches the open gate, but when the two Minotaurs Guards come out with spears in hand.
Flat-top tell the mothers "Girls Put the children on my back and if need be, we will run to the Black Portal. Kenisha you havd the map on how to get there? Then we will follow you."
Toros Monday August 16th, 2004 11:03:08 PM
OOC: Hi everyone, hope you are all well! Toros is back and will be properly posting soon.
Sorry to take time longer than expected.., ...our uncle passed away this monday...
Leets Tuesday August 17th, 2004 2:23:30 AM
OOC: sorry for your uncle...Glad to have you back among us...
IC:
Leets is more than surprised to see Minotaurs in such a place...
"For sure this is strange...I wonder why Rythyniag forgot to tell us about this...detail..."
Gecktar Tuesday August 17th, 2004 2:28:26 AM
Gecktar comes by Brahmah's side. He nods at the guards in the Minotaur's way, and will just stand, waiting for their answer...
Flat-top Tuesday August 17th, 2004 5:44:47 AM
OOC: Sorry to hear of the lost of you Uncle, BUT I did miss you.
Zeoll Tuesday August 17th, 2004 7:38:20 AM
Zeoll does not know why it is strange to see these minotaurs. "Arre we not in the Taurr Isles?" he wonders to himself.
He calls out to the minotaurs after Brahmah has his say ... "Hail and well met, fellow Taurrs!"
Kanchana Tuesday August 17th, 2004 8:52:57 AM
Kanchana hangs back in case the children need protection. She does not want to outright trust any Miontaurs that she doesn't know after what happened in the childrens' birth-village. She decides that a healthy distrust of strangers won't hurt her for awhile; at least until the children and their mothers are safe.
Vasch d20+9=16 Tuesday August 17th, 2004 11:32:23 AM
Vasch nerviously fingers his bow as they approach.
Let's hope they don't get much contact with the isles.
"Am I the only one who's hair is standing on end?"
