DM George "Trust me"

The Bloodpack run up the path towards the cave entrance. The entrance looks to be around 12-15' wide and around 8' tall.

Grymash keeps an eye out on the Giant and he is looming even larger. He is carrying a giant morning star which he uses on a tree, blocking his path, snapping it like a twig.

As the group plunge into the cave, the last thing Grymash sees is a small smile on the giant's face.

The dwarven woman is no where to be seen, as the tunnel smooths out and shrinks down. It travels around a bend but light can be seen ahead.

Upon reaching the safety of the cave, Trellus pulls out his holy symbol. By the light of the small hammer (Continual Light), he counts heads to make sure everyone made it.

"Shady," he remarks satisfactorily.

Now, where did the dwarf lady go?

The cleric reaches out to Flea and lays his hands on her head.
"May Domi protect you," he intones. Trellus figures that since it was a dream before, he hasn't really used the power today.
[If he's right, Protective Ward on Flea, +6 on next save]

"Let's see those shady picks," he whispers to the gnome, indicating the tunnel ahead.

Once Flea gets ahead about 60', he asks Nain to lead the way, waves Gry ahead, and steps in behind the half-orc.
"Watch our back, Mac."

The small woman smiles at Mac's admiring tone and pats his hairy hand.

She takes a moment or two to allow her eyes to adjust to the darkness. While doing so, she puts away her crossbow and wand, and digs around in her satchel. "C'mon, Wart", she says, "it's time to help your mistress."

The rummaging produces a large, ugly looking toad that blinks several times, then settles down by resting half in, half out of the nesting satchel on the conjurer's hip. The toad croaks, ["you woke me up"] and Tishe' smiles and pats its back affectionately.

"Or he's just satisfied we ran like a bunch of those flightless bird thingies," Jake adds. "I think dwarves are supposed to be always trustworthy, especially when they don't like giants...right?" He looks to their newest member, pointedly.

Gilan slips into the cave with the others and then looks around for signs of the dwarf woman that waved them in. The sudden sound of the laughing giant sets him on edge as he suddenly suspects the worst. "Oh light." He starts scanning the area for signs of trouble.

Nodding at Gry's comment he shakes his head. "I believe that we may have been driven in here as Gry stated....we fell for it." He continues to scan the area as he slips the club out of its holder at his belt. Seconds later his shield also slips into his other hand and he waits to see what the others do.

His mind races over the spells at his command and wishes that they were more. "Wold Mother watch over us." He just wishes that she would have a little sooner.

Buoyed by the confidence entrusted to her by the cleric, Flea gives a 'thumbs up' and advances deeper into the cave towards the light. Knowing the pack depends on her skill, she moves without a sound (Move Silently=32, nat. 20), hugging one wall (Hide=31), her eyes open to the slightest foreign movement or sign of a trap (Spot=16, Search=28) and ears alert to any sound. (Listen=20)

If able, the rogue will backtrack and report to the pack any interesting discoveries.

Flea walks down the tunnel trying to move as quietly as possible. After about 10' the walls of the tunnel become worked and very smooth. When running her hand against the wall, Flea is amazed at how smooth they are. Either magic was used or 100's of man hours were taken to achieve this perfection.

The tunnel stretches around 150' before it disappears around a curve. Torches light the walls every 10' alternating on each side of the wall. Flea immediately understands that hiding in the tunnel will be very difficult, for there isn't any nooks or crannies to hide in and it is so well lite.

Flea travels 60' and back without any problems but sees no sign of the dwarven lady who beckoned them in.

Grymash will look around for traps but doesn't find anything of interest. When he does look back out the cave entrance, he notices the giant has stopped and is standing very still as if waiting for something. He seems to have a glazed look in his eyes and a little drool leaking from his lips.

The small woman tries to be as quiet as possible as she moves down the tunnel near Gilan and Mac. However, her mind is racing trying to weave the information they have into a whole cloth.

A dwarf who disappears, a smiling giant that only tries to get us to the cave like a herder of sheep, an unnaturally smooth cave, and a cleric that is locked in a gem somewhere.

She whispers to the nearby Gilan. "Father Dreem makes things happen in dreams when he's far away; could he not manifest his dreams to us while we're awake now that they are much closer?"

"And being trapped in a gem sounds like a wizard's spell I've heard of called magic jar. What if the evil wizard isn't dead, but trapped like Father Dreem and possessed the giant to drive us in here? "

"Grymash is never right..." Jake mumbles, angrily. He still has not forgiven his pack brother for beating him up. He glances to Tishe, and replies, evenly, "Then we'll kill him." Then, he heads after Flea, trusting that the little halfling has gone far enough ahead and will report back any troubles. In fact, that's what he says to Trellus, as he gets up to the front of the group. "Let's go, then."

Mac look about, but isn't too interested in the tunnel - his attention is pretty much all directed out the entrance at the giant. He sizes up the giant and the distance between them.

Figuring that if she can't hide in this place, than neither can anyone (or anything!) else, the rogue continues boldly down the tunnel. Looking back, she spots Jake, and signals him to be quiet by bringing her index finger up against her lips. Her eyes shine with the excitement of it all.

Hearing Gry's remark about the giant's attitude, Trellus purses his lips. He doesn't like getting herded like a prairie pig either.

"Flea!," he calls ahead softly. "Hold up a sec."

Shooting Jake a look -- if you didn't twist him, he wouldn't beat on you , he thinks -- the cleric squeezes his way back to the end of the line.

"Hey! Dude!" he calls out to the giant. "What's the deal?"

Gilan lookd to Tishe' and shakes his head slowly. "I am not too sure...it could have been him with the dwarf woman." He is at a loss seeing that this is not his area of expertise. He continues to take the time and watch the group as he tries to figure out something.

With Trellus deciding to make an attempt at talking to the giant he shrugs. At least there is someone that they can try to talk to...the woman has disappeared. He waits to see what Flea will report back with.

Flea goes boldly down the moving 60' in total from both rounds. She doesn't really see to much except the tunnel continues to be remarkably smooth.

Mac judges the difference from the giant and the cave entrance to be around 100'.

When Trellus hails the giant, the giant's eyes dart to the cave entrance and an dark look comes over his face. He starts striding towards the cave entrance, pausing long enough to rip up a medium sized pine tree, which he carries like a spear. "I will swat you! You should have stayed out of my valley!"

The Giant will reach the cave entrance next round.

Trellus turns around quickly.
"OK, dudes." He says brightly to his friends. "He's got a tree, and its totally time to go now."

The cleric swiftly jogs down the tunnel to resume his normal position behind Gry.
He encourages everyone to come along with him.

As she runs, she once again takes out the wand of enlarge person, just to be ready.

Grymash gives Jake a look as he runs by but chooses to not to say anything. He must still be 'sore' from their little squabble earlier. Gry thinks, "Half-breeds be soo sensitiivvee!"

Since everyone is getting behind him for protection, Gry decides to get behind his god as well. He mutters a few words of power and the barbarian becomes protected with the power of Lord Gargul. Is that Grymash's bones slightly glowing beneath his skin?

The group moves away from the entrance but look back when the crashing and snapping noise commences. The giant has plunged the tree halfway down the corridor and is waving it back and forth. He pulls the tree out and looks for bloodstains, grunts in disapproval and sticks back down the tunnel even farther.

Flea moves down to the bend in the corridor (aprox. 150' and peeks around the corner. The tunnel stretches on just like before but is intersected by another corridor another 50' down. She thinks she sees doors past the intersection but in the torch light isn't 100% sure.

Flea continues down the tunnels until she reaches the underground cross-roads. She takes note of all that she sees, including the possibility of doors, with excitement. It is so nice to be underground!

Backtracking, she approaches the nearest member of her pack (Jake?) or any others who are within a short distance and tells them of her discoveries.

"I'm for checking the doors!" she says, as she pulls her Masterworks Tools from one of her pouches.

Gilan races down the tunnel with the others, only looking back once to see a tree following them. If it had not dawned on him what was happening he would have stopped and tried to figure it out.

He pulls up short as the rest, most likely stop to hear Flea. He looks back down the tunnel to see if the tree is still following them.

Trellus looks back at the thrashing tree.

"Not friendly at all," he agrees with Mac.

Looking ahead, the cleric starts getting worried. There sure are a lot of places where nasty treadles could be hiding.

"Nain, could you watch the right hall, and Gry the left?" Trellus takes a moment to make sure the half-orc is pointing the correct way.
"Jake, watch Flea."

The young man parks himself right in the middle of the intersection, and waits for Flea to check out the doors.

Gry turns to face the other way after Trellus corrects him at which direction is left. "Gry know whut way is left!" mutters the half-orc as he now guards against anything coming down the left corridor.

He keeps repeating in his mind, "Lefty Looty, Righty Bitey!" However he isnt sure if that's how the saying goes, but that's what its mutated to in his mind. Then his eyes widen and he repeats, "Lefty Looty, Righty Bitey!" out loud as an idea comes to his fragile little noggin. "Yooz guys thinkin' whut Gry be thinkin' ?"

As Flea starts to cross the corridor, she feels the hairs raise on the back of her neck. She quickly looks down the left corridor and sees some doors and then looks just in time to see a large club smash into her chest. Tishe takes 18 points of damage and is pushed back into Nain.

The rest of the group hear a yelling in a tongue they don't understand, and see a huge 9' humanoid come to the corner. He is shaggy and wearing rotting furs on his body. He is carrying a huge club that he seems to be having difficulties wielding in the confined space.

OOC This corridor is 9' wide and 11' tall. One large creature can fight at a time and 2 medium sized ones could fight side by side. Large creature will take -2 to hit. 2 mediums will take -2 to hit if they both fight, while one person could fight without penalties. Please post spells, armor classes and hitpts. Yes combat has begun!

Grymash eyes turn wild and feral with his little friend getting hit so hard by the big treadle. Rage instantly explodes in Gargul's agent of death. Grymash charges with a bloodcurdling roar, full of spit and fury ablazed in hellfire. The Eye of Gargul on his buckler comes to life and shines with a brilliant white light as his menacing axe hacks into the beasts flesh. The barbarian revels in the spray of crimson. "GUTE, WEEZ GOTTA GUSHERRR!!"

(Rage. Charge. PowerAttack +5, doubles with a two-handed weapon +10. Hit AC 26. Damage: 30 points of damage.)

The rogue has a premonition of danger. As the club sweeps in her direction she arches out of the way and the club swings through empty space * [Effective AC vs Giants = 23].

As the ogre follows through, Flea tumbles past [Tumble=24]. From behind the monster she draws her short sword and slashes at the back of the ogre's legs [Hit AC=22; 3 dmg + 13 sneak attack].

Gilan watches as the club comes out of nowhere and Flea is the target. His face reddens with anger but he keeps it in check as he lets those more combat effective move forward. He goes through the few spells that he has but decides to hold off with Gry now in melee with the monster.

"Trellus...we may need some healing up here real soon or anything else that you've got." He glances behind them to see Mac taking up rear guard and smiles. They were working pretty good so far as a team.

Grymash's bloodshot eyes catches a glimpse of the gnomes acrobatics. He roars with laughter as Flea introduces her blade. "HAAAAHA HA HAAAA! TAP DAT LEG ... LIKE KEG!" With his berserkers morale being stoked to an even greater fervor, the voracious barbarian begins another dizzying revolution of his beastly two-headed weapon.

[OOC: Whew! for a moment I thought things were getting rough indeed!]

Shouts and clashing of weapons, wood, and stone are in the tunnel ahead, and the small conjurer can see the head of the ogre bobbing above the others like a evil jack-o-lantern.

But in the close-in melee, her crossbow or spells would be little effective. Nevertheless, she limbers her light crossbow [move action] and readies a bolt [free action], covering Mac and the cave rear.

"Tell me if my magic might help the fight ahead", she tells Gilan.

Trellus flinches as the, whatever it is, attacks.

But with the whooping Gry just laid on it, the cleric doesn't think its long for this world.

"I think Gry's got him," he responds to Gilan, but he pulls out his CMW wand, just in case.

"Keep watch on those other halls, dudes."

Flea tumbles nimbly around the first ogre and backstabs the beast effectively. Unfortunately for her, see notices several more in the tunnel.

The second ogre lashes out with an AoO (needed to roll dc 27 on your tumble to avoid it) at the same time she does and solidly strikes her for 15 points of damage (lucky missed critical!)

Grymash in his rage smashes Ogre #1 down and kills him.

Ogre #2 sees Grymash cut down his friend and takes a couple of steps forward and swings at him missing.

Flea can take an AoO on him.

Orge #3 swings at Flea but misses.

The other ogres hold off their attacks afraid of hitting their friends.

Grymash being raged you cannot hold your strokes and take no penalties but if you roll a natural 1-3 I will say you have a change of hitting your comrades.

Flea notices another ogre come out of the door an join the line.

Nain please make a spot check.

Grymash's coal black eyes turn toward the second ogre. A maw full of tusk and tooth opens wide to bellow out another deafening roar mixed with blood and spit. The barbarian steps on and over the fallen ogre to attack the other giant(ogre2) that's after Flea.

(PowerAttack+5, two-handed+10. HitAC: 30threat/22crit. x3 Damage 28,26,27=81.)

(If ogre2 drops and ogre3 is in reach...) Grymash cleaves through the second ogre and uses his momentum to strike the other.

"How many of them are there!", wonders the small woman. Her crossbow and spells are of little use in the melee, and though she feels she can get some shots off over Nain's head, she's afraid of hitting the raging Grymash.

"Gilan, Trellus, Jake", she calls, brown ponytail whipping around. "Can someone use attacks over Nain's head?"

The conjurer takes a five foot step backwards to leave space for someone else to see over the dwarf's head.

If it was just Gry in combat, Trellus would be happy to just stand there and watch his friend kill the whole crew.

But, Flea is in trouble.

"Coming through, Gilan," he says, squeezing along the wall past the druid and then ducking past the advancing Gry to slip into the side corridor.

"Flea!" he calls to the gnome. "Over here!"

[Moved through friendly occupied squares - PHB p147 - to slide into the side corridor that doesn't have any ogres in it.]

Having lots of experience with Gry's moods* and not willing to forge through the ogres that are blocking the tunnel in front of her, Flea presses against the side of the tunnel, craddling her wounded sword arm as the enraged barbarian crashes through. When the coast is clear, she follows the sound of Trellus' voice. "I'm okay, but there are more big uglies coming our way," she warns.

*(OOC: I figure Flea has witnessed enough of Gry's 'raging' in and and out of combat to know that no matter what, she is going to high-tail it out of his range.)

Gilan glances back around to the front of the battle and Gry's progress. He watches with a sickening feeling as Flea is hit by an ogre and falls back. He drops his club at his feet as he looks to the line of ogres that is forming.

Shaking off his nerves he lays a hand on the wall of the cavern and closes his eyes for a few minutes. He falls into the powers of nature as the hairs on his neck stand on end. "Russe tuulo moriloomir." As he nears the end of a group of words spoken in a strange language he brings his free hand up, thrusting it our palm open. For the briefest of minutes his eyes turn pure white as he channels powers through his body.

The furthest ogre from him is struck suddenly by a blast of lightning that appeared from nowhere. It leaves a burned ozone smell in the air as it disapates and the flash is sudden. A smile spread across his face as he looks upon his handywork. "Feel the power of Mother Wold."

Jake stands to the side, watching Nain and Grymash probably steal all the fun. After all, it's not like anything could get by that. He actually feels sorry for the ogres.

Grymash slashes O2 in front of him but the big ogre is still up. He is looking woozy but he is still up.

Flea tries to back away but O3 is pressing her and advances as she retreats.

Trellus moves up into the left hand corridor, and feels that the orge should have gotten a AoO on him but the beast is to hurt from Grymash's blow to carry through with it.

Gilan blasts O5 with a lightning hurting the beast.

Tishe moves back to give the others room.

Nain is stunned by the attacks and seems to be frozen into inaction. He stands there with his mouth open in shock.

Mac checks behind them but sees nothing threatening.

Jake looks on in amusement and pity for the poor ogres. His pity turns to concern as he sees Flea take another viscous hit.

O3 attacks Flea hoping to finish her off. He strikes a mighty blow smashing the poor gnome in the shoulder. (16 points of damage)

O2 attacks Grymash but misses to shook up from the last hit to be effective.

O4 takes a couple of steps forward and swings his huge club at Grymash as well, striking the 1/2 orc with a solid shot doing 14 points of damage.

Expecting that the raging barbarian would have decimated the creature he had attacked, and charge past her, the gnome is caught against a rock and the proverbial hard place when this doesn't happen. Craddling her injured arm, she is unable to dodge the creature and takes further damage when the ogre smashes her with it's club, breaking her collarbone and dislocating her shoulder.

She makes a feeble stab (Hit AC 8, ugh! Nat. 1) at the ogre (#3) as she continues her retreat.

(OOC: Getting maps, but I'm thoroughly confused. Gry and Ogre #2 aren't on the latest one. I thought we were lined up: Gry/Ogre #2/Flea/Ogre #3/more Ogres?)

The barbarian feels something assault his mind but he's able to fight it off. Grymash continues his cleaving of the ogres. He can tell that his foe isnt going to last one more hit. He steps 5-ft forward to position himself between both ogres (ogre2 and ogre4. Im assuming Im now within reach of both since they are both attacking me). With another feral growl, Gry swings a wild roundhouse slash with his double axe. He hopes it cleaves through the first ogre (ogre2) and then hacks into the other (ogre4).

The cleric's jaw nearly hits the floor when he sees Gry's victim is still standing.

"Light," he breathes. This could be harder than he thought.

"Mac! Squeeze in over here! We need help!"

Trellus drops his wand [Free Action], draws his mace, and whispers a quick invocation, "Domi give me strength."

With that, the cleric steps into O3, intent on aiding Flea. In fact, he's so intent on the gnome that he swings well before getting close enough to actually connect.

Gilan feels the influence of something as it washes over his body. He easily shakes it off and his eyes search the area for the source of the effect. He tries to search out the effect of the spell or whatever and see what it was.

With a smile at the attempt he unleashes another bolt of lightning energy into the ogre from earlier. He cannot help Flea without endangering her with his powers.

The ozone is once again alive with the crackling of a stroke of lightning that strikes the ogre and leaves behind another flash of light.

OOC Hey guys, several of you are complaining that you aren't getting the maps, the maps aren't complete and general problems so I am going to try to explain it as best as I can.

You are in a corridor that is around 9' wide and 11' tall. This corridor is intersected with another hallway. Figure you are moving north on the corridor and the other intersects running from west to east. You can see your hallway looks to be intersected again even farther up the hallway. Past the hallway are two doors on the right hand side of the corridor.

Looking down the right hand corridor, is a doorway where the ogres emerged from. There is also another door farther down same corridor which is currently closed.

Looking to the left the corridor continues and their are 2 doors here as well. I will explain where everyone is after this round at the end of the post. Now the corridor that has the 4 doors in it (two down the left and 2 down the right) is wider and taller than the corrider you entered from. It is around 10' wide and 13' tall. While fighting in this corridor, you will not experience the -2 for close quarters.

OK hope that helps, back to the action.

Grymash is surprised to see O2 slump to the ground succumbing to the earlier wounds and moves up and launches his attack against O4. He wicked blade slices through the abdomen of the nasty creature spilling his guts to the floor. O4 passes out in shock. Grymash follows through and lodges his axe into the back of O3, severing his spine and dropping him to the ground as well.

Gilan directs his lightning attack on O5 once more and the ogre takes full damage once again.
He is starting to smoke and looks a little concerned.

Tishe, seeing Grymash kill the ogre who was attacking Flea, redirects her damage to O5 and puts that ogre down as well.

Mac calls for the other to move aside and Nain who is still standing there in shock, looks up at him and presses himself against the wall so Nain can pass.

Trellus trys to help Flea but misses though his help isn't needed right now. Trellus notices farther down the northern corridor, two strange shapes. They almost look like giant insects...maybe ants but he only gets a quick look.

Flea darts away from the combat holding her wounded arm in pain. She puts herself behind Trellus down the left hand corridor.

Jake stays ready for combat but nothing seems to be coming his way. He thinks about turning around and facing the giant but quickly shakes that thought out of his head.

OOC Having some computer problems, hence the second post.

Grymash has decimated most of the ogres with a little aid from his friends. The last ogre (ogre 6) in desperation launches an attack on Grymash again landing a solid blow (16 points of damage)

Both Grymash and Gilan again feel something trying to enter their minds and need to make that saving throw again (will save dc 17 vs charisma)

Flea and Trellus see the door farther down the right hand corridor bang open and two tall but very thin creatures step out. They are extremely ugly and look very intimidating. Their hands end in very nasty looking claws and sharp teeth can be seen in their mouths. They start moving down the corridor eyeing Grymash in anticipation.

OOC update on positions...Grymash is in the intersection fighting O6. Trellus is 5' down the western corridor and Flea is behind him. The others are in the southern corridor with Mac trying to work his way up.

Flea calls out to the rest of the pack, letting them know the ogres aren't alone in the tunnels. She notices Trellus' wand on the ground, and picks it up. Pointing it at her wounded arm she invokes the name of Domi, Trellus' god who has protected or rescued the gnome from so many of her past scrapes. "Hope this works," she mutters, giving herself a mental kick that she didn't pay more attention to Sarlin's instructions when she had the chance.

Fortunately the rogue is able to "fake it" well enough to cause the wand to go off. (Cure Moderate Wounds for 10 pts.)

(OOC: Didn't know if I needed to, but I rolled Use Magic Device=26. P. 49 indicates "rogues can 'fake it' well enough to cast spells from scrolls, activate wands, and use just about any other magic item. I couldn't find any other reference to the ability and wondered if it was an inate ability or a feat (that needed to be aquired?!)

A bloody ecstasy enraptures the barbarian with all the gore and broken bone slathered about the cavern. Grymash is covered in it. Crimson thickly coats his blades splattering streaks of blood along the walls with every swing. He doesnt seem to even feel the ogre's club smash into him. The ogre is only a minor annoyance to him now as he spies the fanged creatures coming down the hall.

However, Grymash cant resist. With a gaping maw of grinning teeth, he turns his attention to the last ogre. Taking only a short moment to regard the ogre's final few seconds of life, he closes with the ogre (5-ft step) and lets loose a dual attack.

The first strike misses completely, but the second one lands true. Probably due to not being able to concentrate on his current foe. Something wicked this way comes and Grymash just cant wait!

"Cmon, Mac, pick your way through." She pulls the shocky dwarf against the wall and slams her own shoulders against the smooth stone to let the minotaur pass.

After Mac is gone forward, the small woman's ponytail whips around again as she watches with loaded crossbow the tunnel south.

Things are happening very fast. Trellus breathes a sigh of relief as Flea gets back and uses his wand.
How'd she weave that? The stray thought is gone as quickly as it appeared.

The cleric is definitely going to talk to Malafret about assigning them a packmate who freezes in the first combat.

"Jake! Just slip by Nain and join Gry! There's two nasty looking things over there!"

"Mac, there's something up this way." Trellus shakes his head up the north corridor.

"Gil, keep an eye on Flea."

The cleric casts a spell, and then puts away his mace while crossing the intersection to stand behind Gry. He's fairly confident the half-orc is gonna need healing soon. He also uses the opportunity to get a closer look at these other guys. Maybe they're undead?

Gilan feels the effects of another spell fall upon him, but knows that it is not harmful. He moves slightly tighter to the wall to let Mac by as he stays near Flea. "Am on it Trellus." He turns his eyes to the two newest creatures to join the fray.

He flexes the power of his spell again and feels the rapture of nature as it passes through him. Lightning arcs from the ceiling to strike the nearest toothy monster coming up the hall. "Flea, how you holding up?" He has the wits about him to inquire as to Flea's condition while helping out in the battle.

Grymash, with a mighty swing on his weapon, sends the head of O6 from his neck and bounces it down the southern corridor. The body slumps to the floor, adding more volume to the already spreading pools of blood, brains and intestines littering the floor.

Flea scoops up the wand and figures out how to operate it and recieves its healing benefits. She feels a little better, but gives a hard look at the doors on her side of the corridor now that Trellus left.

Gilan wants to fire his lightning's at something but is unable to this round as he can't see any of the foes yet.

Tishe lets Mac by and is disgusted with Nain, whose teeth are literally chattering in fear at the corpses surrounding him. Nain stares in horror as the head of the ogre bounces past splattering brain on his boats.

Mac sucks down his potion and feels stronger already as he moves past the others to get into better position to help in the fighting.

Trellus moves up behind the enraged Grymash wary of the swinging axes, but trying to support his friend.

Jake tries to support his friends and move forward.

The bad guys move forward in single file and one launches an attack on Grymash lashing out with his claws and trying to bite him. One claw hits and he bites the barbarian's shoulder. Grymash takes 16 points of damage.

The other creature swings around his friend with one claw attack but misses badly.

Everyone in the intersection must make a dex roll dc 10 or slip and fall due to all the blood and guts on the floor.

Grymash feels his mind assualted from many different sources. He must make 4 saves vs will dc 17

Trellus must make one save dc 17 and Mac must make one save DC 17. All are versus Charisma

The cleric doesn't bother getting up. He pulls out his CSW wand from his magic backpack and taps the back of Gry's leg.

Gilan will try and move just enough to get himself into viewing range of the creatures that are attacking Grymash. If he can then he will unleash his lightning from last round on the back on this time.

Grymash hits his opponent and takes a close look at this new monster. It is tall and muscular. Its skin is a greenish brownish color.
It has thick long hair and a very tough hide.
As mentioned before, its hands end in long claws and when Grymash looks into the monsters eyes, he sees someone as crazy as himself. A truely worthy opponent finally.

Mac pushes past Grymash, Trellus and their opponent but draws an AOO from Grymash's foe. He is hit for 8 points of damage. He notices several of the strange insects down the hall and starts moving towards them and can reach them next round. As he gets closer, he realizes that they are the biggest insects he ever saw. They are about the size of a small pony and have sharp looking claws and stingers.

Flea cures herself again and is feeling a little better. She notices nothing special about the door.

The monsters come into Gilan's view and he throws a lightning bolt at the one not engaging. He is afraid of hitting Grymash with the bolt. The monsters screams in rage and pain and seems to notice Gilan.

Tishe still sees nothing coming down the southern corridor.

Trellus falls to his knees and gets covered in even more gore, but is able to cast a cure on Grymash.

Jake moves forward from the round before and freezing at the sight of the powerful monsters, taking no action this round.

Nain completely breaks down and starts crying like a baby.

The other side:

Grymash's opponent seems has sure footing on his feet but seems be distracted by Mac passing and gets clumsy with his blows. He misses with his claws but takes a nasty bite out of Grymash for 9 points of damage.

The second monster trys to and succeeds in pushing past Grymash and his opponent but Grymash gets AOO against him.

Trellus looks up to see a very nasty looking critter looking down at him.

Mac must make 3 will saving throws dc 17 vs charisma

Jake finally regains control of his senses and jumps forward to attack the guy that Grymash got the opportunity to swing at. "Taste this, ya crumby smelling, dirt-eating grubsniffing..." he mutters, which always helps him fight monsters larger than he is. "Gry, you hang in there, ya smelly galloot."
(Swings twice, I'm using the power attack fully; and...misses totally. :P)
(Oh wait! Forgot the prayer bonus! Woo! So, I'm rerolling my attack... Yay! Hit AC 20 and AC 21. Did 11 and 20 damage, plus 3 and 4 cold damage respectively.)
(On reading this post over again, I realized that I could have just adjusted the numbers by the prayer and still missed. And taht I might have messed up by not doing so. I'll let the DM decide what to do.)

Grymash looks confused for a few seconds as these 'people' start moving through the area. (Wisdom 21) They seem familiar to him deep down, the goofy one an da demon taur!? Then one of the muscular beasties makes a run for the demontaur and he takes a swing, "sTupPiD piG gGIe!"

With no threats coming down the tunnel, the brown-haired woman turns to concentrate on helping her pack.

"Keep watch on the rear, sweetie", she tells Wart. "I've got to do something to help without taking up much space." The horned toad familiar croaks an assent and watches with huge eyes the tunnel exit.

A moments thought, and she weave's a spell with voice and hands, taking her time to summon her allies from the Blessed Lands. [Summon III: d4+1 level I creatures; Augmented Summoning] After the spell is complete, three Celestial Owls appear in the corridor and begin attacking the pack's enemies.

Mac looks again for doors on the east side of the north corridor, hoping to push or fight his way through to behind the monsters attacking Gry.

Getting no response from the doors, Flea's attention turns back to the combat going on up ahead. She catches glimpses of the others as they move ahead, but she is unable to fix their positions. Her view is partially blocked by the cleric standing in front of her.

When Trellus drops yet another one of his wands, Flea retrieves it and sticks it under her belt. As she straightens she spots the awful creature standing over the man in front of her. She keeps the first wand (CMW) in her off hand, and draws her sword with the other.

Gilan shakes his head as things seem to be fine for the moment anyways. Then one of the beasties is able to push past Gry and now stands over Trellus. He shakes his head as he is unable to hit that beastie with lightning without effecting Trellus as well. Still the one facing Gry is a worthy target as the bolt will come straight down on the target, Gry will be safe. "Lets cut these ones down as fast as possible guys...the bugs down the hall are the source of the mental attacks...I am sure."

He unleashes the bolt of lightning on the beastie still on Gry and does a quick mental count of how many bolts he has left.

Jake launches his attacks but misses with both swings.

Trellus activates his wand and uses it on Grymash. He then stands up and subjects himself to an AoO from T2. Trellus is hit and takes 11 points of damage.

Tishe casts her spell and 3 owls appear into the corridor and attack T2. One even does some damage.

Grymash uses his attacks effectively and strikes hard and true. He is amazed that this opponent is still up.

Mac suddenly stops his movement and turns around holding his weapons ready. He takes no other actions this round.

Gilan launches a lighting bolt at Grymash's foe and the creature falls to the floor and doesn't move.

Flea (Wandscooper) scoops up another wand and draws her weapon.

Nain stops crying and decides to put a protection spell on himself.

T2 launches into Trellus and just mauls him badly. He hits with both claw attacks and digs his claws in and rips the flesh right of the noble cleric. He then delivers a nasty bite. (T2 got additional damage rending Trellus) Trellus takes a total of 42 points of damage this round. OOC As stated earlier, I don't have up to date character sheets, due to computer change over. Last hardcopy I have of Trellus's character sheet shows him with 40 hps.)

Flea notices the door of the farthest door, in the western corridor, crack open and sees a dwarf stick its head out, look around and then stare at Flea with fear and indecision on his face.

Trellus sees Mac turn around. The fact the taur seems to be coming back, coupled with the spell the cleric's mind fought off earlier makes Trellus very concerned.

Very concerned.

So concerned he forgets about the big, nasty critter with the claws and teeth standing right next to him.

This ommission is rather quickly rectified.

"YEEEEAAARRRGH!" he screams, as tooth and claw rip through his armor and large hunks of his body. Searing pain races along every part of him and explodes in his brain.

Bleeding badly, Trellus retreats, withdrawing to put Jake between himself and those claws.

But still, he doesn't forget about Mac. Once he's backed up to relative safety, he raises his hands to cast a spell at the taur.

The pain. Oh, Domi it hurts.
"Light," he gasps between tightly clenched teeth. "Domi, help me."

[Trellus withdraws from the troll, moving around to accomplish the triple purpose of being at least 15' away from the troll, weith Jake between the two, but still in sight of Mac. I'm assuming that puts him in the south corridor somewhere.

Grymash isnt amazed, happy or even concerned that the beast just fell. His mind contains no record of how many attacks he's made or the foes he's dropped. He sees nothing but a blur of hostile and somewhat familiar images and waves of blood.

It's blood that Gry notices, dripping from its claws and teeth. Human scented blood, a scent familiar to him. Blood of a friend. The barbarian's axe beings its reckoning down upon the beast, a being unworthy to touch his friends blood. Grymash positions himself between Trellus and the beast(T2) and attacks.

"Trellus! Wait!" cries Flea as she chases after the badly wounded cleric. Flea will chase after the blonde man, tumbling (Tumble=22)to avoid any of the enemy in her attempt to stay close to Trellus. As soon as she is within reaching distance she expertly activates (UMD=29, nat. 20) the wand. (CMW for 12 points health restored.) "Is this thing fully loaded?" she calls out to Trellus?*

Flea looks around to see if she can manouvre into a flanking position when she spots the dwarves peeping out from the doors she had been checking out earlier.

*(Flea has used 3 charges of the CMW wand. The other wand is stuck in her belt. DM George, can we please have a map?)

The second beast falls in a flurry of swords and spells from Jake, Grymash and Nain.

Trellus is able to stagger away and cast his spell. When it washes over Mac, suddenly the controlling voices are gone in his head and he is free. He looks around in confusion and wonders why he is standing guarding the corridor.

Flea sees the dwarf beckoning to her but her loyalty to Trellus wins out and she scurries to heal him.

Grymash hears a voice in his head which says, "Come to me! Guard me. Why won't you listen." Grymash hears the voice but doesn't feel the need to follow it.

The owls flap down the corridor and try to attack the ant-like creatures. The ants fight back, and destroy the owls quickly.

Jake and Grymash are in the intersection. Everyone else is bunched up in the southern corridor. The ants are in the northern corridor around 50 away, standing in a corridor that heads to the left.. The dwarf is in the western corridor sticking his head out of a door that is at the end of the corridor facing the group. There is another unopened door in that hallway.

OOC Sorry guys, bought a new computer and it didn't come with a word processing program. Should have one loaded up tomorrow and will be able to update your map.

Flea reaches out and grabs at the bloody garments of the party leader. "It's okay Trellus, I'm here." The rogue chokes back the sobs, that well within her chest at the sight of torn flesh and exposed bone as she once again activates the wand (UMD=24) and provides some relief to her friend (CMW=14).

Flea stands protectively over her friend, a grim look on her face as she looks about for a possible means of escape. (Search=25)

The plain-faced woman doesn't notice the frantically waving dwarf (Spot: 9) and is momentarily overcome at the rapid demise of her owls.

"Trellus fall back! I'll get the next counterspell!", she calls to the blonde man.

With Trellus successful in breaking the spell on Mac, and further owls sure to become plant fodder quickly, the small mage goes back to her old reliable and takes up her loaded crossbow. Seeing any target of opportunity that will not hit her friends, she will fire. (AC 17, Dam 8)

Wart continues to watch the entrance tunnel to warn his wizard of approaching danger. "Rrrrckk."

Gilan weaves his way up to Trellus and kneels at his side. "Carry the fight to the ant creatures or try to retreat??" He looks around for any signs of other moving life besides them and the last of the enemies. He shakes his head at the carnage on both side and wonders how well Gry is holding up.

If he is within viewing distance of the ants then he will fire off a lightning bolt on one of them, most likely the front one. If not he will slip a potion from his pouch into Trellus's hands. "Here take this and drink it.

Grymash bellows, "GET OUT GRYY HEADD, AAAGGHHHH!!" The barbarian rushes ahead, past the demontaur, to get to the insect creatures. Gry is swift but obstacles slow his progress. He draws a dagger along the way and he sends it flying at the insect creature he precieves to be nawing on his brain.

(Thrown dagger. HitAC:23. Damage:13 points)

Suddenly the barbarian's starts to calm from his beserker rage. He feels his strength beginning to wane and the slowness of fatigue setting in. Grymash yells at the top of his lungs, "BLOODPACK ... BRING IT DIS WAY. WEEZ FINISH THEM NOWW!!

"Hah! Ah'll get 'em! Ah'll crush 'em like...er...ants!" Jake doesn't pause to consider his statement, instead fleetly racing down the corridor, his boots clomping on the ground.

"Yeeeeeaaaah!" Jake yells exuberantly, swinging his sword with all his might, ending his charge only to clang with his sword ineffectively. (Charging and power attack at 5, hit AC 11.)

Still in pain, but a feeling a whole lot better than he was 10 seconds ago, Trellus waves off Gilan's offer of the potion.
"Flea's weaving well," he says.

"Jake and Gry may be too shuttlecocked to pull back," he responds to the question about retreat. "Lets weave a bit longer and see what the shirt looks like."

The cleric takes a moment to cast a spell on himself [Owls Wisdom] that should help his next pick, whatever that will be.

Then, he steps back into the intersection in order to get a look around. Are any other critters coming? Is there a way out of here?

Seeing the dwarf, he shouts at it irritably,
"Dude, you just led us into one ambush. Why should we follow you now?"

He filters a little of Jake and Trellus' conversation.

Tishe shoots one and damages it.

Both Mac and Jake turn and start moving towards the ants. Mac charges up and cuts ones body right in half. (ant #5) He wasn't close enough to cleeve on but ant 5 is dead.

Jake moves up to them but is unable to attack as it took both actions to move that far. He sounded impressive though.

Grymash moves down the corridor and throws a dagger, but due to range and cover he misses. He will be able to close next round but he does have this big minotaur in his way. He does hear in his head, "Stop. Go back. Protect us!"

Nain's magic missile slams home.

Trellus yells at the dwarves and the dwarf yells back, "You have to kill the masters!" and then slams the door. The door closer to Trellus opens and out steps a monstrosity. It is 8' tall and 5' broad. It has huge claws and a bug head. It's head is dominated by huge mandible that look like they could bit a person in half.

The creature moves towards Trellus while staring at him and Trellus must make a saving throw vs will 15 dc. or be confused.

The other ants withdraw this round. The are heading down the northern corridor away from the group.

Flea needs to make 3 saving throws vs will and Mac needs to make 2 saves. All of them are vs charisma and you need a 17.

Grymash is drenched in sweat and slathered in floam. His chest heaves heavily with breath and drool flows freely from his gaping mouth. His double axe feels much heavier in his hands and all he wants to do is get some rest. But he knows the only rest he'll get this evening if he doesn't continue to fight will be a permanent one.

Grymash hears Trellus call for him. His raspy voice yells, "AUUGHH ... PIGGIE DUMPS!" The barbarian turns to Mac and Jake and says, "Go ... get thems. Da bugs talkin' in Gry's head. Thay's want Gry ta protect thems! Ya gots ta kill'em!"

Grymash takes a deep breath and turns back to the rest of the Bloodpack in the main corridor. He works up another warrior's yell as he charges at the big 'hulking' bug-headed knuckle-dragger. "AAAAUUUGGHHHH!"

Flea gets a creepy feeling and all her senses scream out a warning. She concentrates all her will on fighting off whatever is trying to invade her mind. She feels a burst of internal strength and momentarily resists the intrusion. As Domi's protection evaporates, she becomes vulnerable to whatever it is and looses the fight.

A smile moves across the small woman's face, pleased her archery did some good, but it is quickly wiped at Trellus' shout. Turning, she spies the hulking brute bearing down on the cleric!

(Assuming on seeing the monster and its eyes, Tishe' also has to make a Will Save: 22)

And then Grymash is there, dried sweat and froth about his large frame, and standing down the monster. "He is beside himself with fatigue!" worries the small brown haired woman. "And we need some serious help!"

Voice and hands again weave a pattern in the air which soon brings strands of light. Weaving the light into a form behind the hulking brute, Tishe' summons a Celestial Bison, which attacks the monster from behind. [Summon III]

Mac shakes the mind-losing feeling off again.

Once again Mac charges after the now fleeing Giant Ants.
"Demontaur..." he mutters under his breathe as he builds up speed. Then he brings the greataxe around and down upon the trailing Ant. Hits AC:19 for 30 pts. Cleave if possible hits AC:23 for 33 pts.

Gilan takes several steps back as the newest giant bug appears from behind a door. Taking the time he calls once again upon the powers of Mother Wold to answer his call. "Yala onna." The powers gather at his will and form into the large form of a dire badger.

The badger appears flanking the bison that was also summoned and tears at the bug with claws and teeth.

Once again, Jake charges after the ants. This time, though, he's not sure if he can get them...they ran away, too, and Mac is a big guy. But if he can, he swings at them.
(Hit AC 22, did 9 damage, plus 2 cold.) He says quite easily to Mac, "Yeah, he'll never forget, so ya's gotta find a good nickname to tease him back with," in an easy voice, despite charging down a hall...

OOC Sorry guys, couple of corrections. Mac your bullstrength spell is gone. It was dispel with the dispel magic.

The magic missile that Nain shot at the ant fizzled before it impacted. Doesn't matter because Mac kills it this round anyway, but wanted to let you know.

Mac charges forward and slashes at one of the ants and puts it down. Jake trys to follow but with Mac in his way and the others running away, he isn't able to close the distance close enough to get a swing.

With Mac's mighty swing, the voice in Grymash's head suddenly falls silent. Grymash stumbles forward to do battle once again but is met with an AoO from the monster which smashes into him and does 10 points of damage. Grymash connects with a solid blow but isn't happy with what is about to hit him as the hulking monster seems to turn his way.

Gilan summons a bison and it attacks goring the monster from behind for 10 points. OOC gilan you didn't tell me who your were gonna zap so I am holding off this round. You might effect others.

Nain seeing he can't even see an ant, shoots his crossbow at the monster 15' away scoring a hit.

Flea, with a glazed look in her eye takes the wand of healing and snaps it over her knee and then starts to walk towards the ants.

Tishe summons her badger and sends it into battle. It scores one hit.

Trellus summons his hammer and uses it to good effect scoring a hit.

The huge bug like creature tears into Grymash, rending him with his huge claws, and biting him savagedly in the chest with his mandibles. Grymash eyes darken and he slumps to unconciousness from the savage blows. Grymash was hit with a critical mandible bite for 22 points of damage and two more claws for a 10 and 11. Combined with the AOO he takes 53 points of damage this round

"i'll cut off their escape!" Jake tells the minotaur. And moving forward, he skirts right into the lead one's area (provoking an AoO), so that if it flees, he can try to hit it. (+10 to hit, 1d10+5+1d6 damage)

Gilan turns his lightning on the bug that just dropped Gry. The bolt flashes straight down to strike the monster. He glances to Trellus and wonders how they are going to get Gry back on his feet and take out this newest problem.

The dire badger continues it's assault on the bug as it turns it's attention to someone else.

Grymash gets ready to swing his axe once again and suddenly he finds himself back in the Sargrass Plains. All his friends are gone. He can feel the familiar dry breezes blow against his body. The grasses part in front of him to reveal his old manfri friend. The old withered blackened fingers of the manfri beckons him to follow. The manfri disappears into the grass. Grymash steps forward and grasses part of him too. "Strange," he thinks. This has never happened before. The strangeness of the situation continues to perplex him since the barbarian already knows where they're going.

He steps into the darkness of the deep grass and finds himself looking upon the big golden door in the cavern. The ancient manfri smiles at him so warmly. Grymash has never felt so much peace before in his entire life and can't help but smile himself. The manfri says a few words and waves his hands at the door. It begins to glow. "Whooaah! Flea would had likes ta see dis!!"

Trellus sees Gry fall and Flea break his wand. His mouth tightens. This is starting to get serious. He hopes the gnome forgets she has the other wand as well.

The cleric doesn't think he can get to Gry without joining him. Bug-head needs to go down. Fast.

The giant insect falls under the groups multiple attacks adding to the gore and clutter on the ground. Walls of bodies litter the area and it is tough to move around. (dex check of 15 needed to move or slip to the ground)

Tishe tries to dispel magic on Flea but the spell fails. (dc check is 20)

Flea starts to run down the corridor and zips by Mac. Jake is the only one who can stop her.

Trellus is excited about his victory when he suddenly cries out in pain and surprise. One of the downed, tall skinny creatures has come back to life and attacked him from behind. He is still prone but was able to sink one of his claws into Trellus's calves for 10 points of damage.

Gilan moves forward and finds his footing (dex 16) despite the debris on the floor. He pulls a wand as he moves and touches it to the downed Gry. He filters through all the knowledge that he has of creatures and finds that he is able to remember something about these creatures (wis 22). "Fire...we need fire."

The dire badger also moves forward to intercept the troll as it makes a grab at Trellus. It tears into the troll with tooth and claws.

Grymash walks through the door the manfri opened for him and suddenly ..."AUUGGHHH!" yells Grymash in pain as he springs to life! He suddenly remembers where he is and what had happened. It all becomes PAINFULLY obvious!

He is covered in blood and muck. Not all his own. So much so that he slips when he tries to get up. Grymash is relieved to see the hulk dead on the floor with him, but another sight catches his eyes. The tall smelly treadle that he thought he'd dropped earlier.

Grymash rolls over on his back and draws two daggers from his belt. He grunts as he sends them both flying at the beast behind Trellus.

Tishe' finds something blocking her spell to Flea, and as she concentrates, it is flung away and Tishe' watches the little gnome run away. "Flibbertigibit, please stop!" she calls forlornly. And sends a hearttouch to her packmate to try and break her out of the domination.

She is distracted by the fall of the hulking monster, but then a dead tall skinny creature which was dead attacks Trellus. She doesn't notice any regeneration or other special ability for the creature [Spot: 2]. "No, Gilan, it must have been playing dead, but we'll take care of that soon."

The wavy brown ponytail swishes across her back as she looks down the hall and calls to her summoned bison in Celestial. "Another enemy to fight. Come and help." The bison charges [Dex 14 to keep feet, plus any bonus for having four legs] and gores the monster if able [AC16, dam:19]

For her own action, the conjurer lets fly her own dagger to follow Grymash's [AC19, dam:3]

Coming! Coming! thinks the rogue as she runs down the corridor after those who summoned her. Mac and Jake don't even register in her conscious. She rubs her chest when suddenly she feels a flutter under her rib cage, but then it goes away and she continues to make her way after those who are now controlling her.

Trellus reaches for his potion out of his pack and he steps on something's intestine and his foot slides out from under him and he ends up doing an awkward split before he hits the ground.

Gilan safely keeps his feet and cures Grymash.
Gilan's badger is able to safely move through the area and attack and hurt the monster.

Grymash falls and is able to pull out one and throws it hurting the monster.

Tishe throws her dagger and wounds her target.
Then she has the bison charge. It really can't charge as it doesn't have the room to get up to speed but lumbers forward, trampling over Trellus and the badger to get to his target.
Trellus takes 2 points of damage and the badger takes 1. The Bison hits the monster and with all the other combined hits the monster again dies and falls to the ground landing partially on Trellus adding to the clutter and the gore.

Mac and Jake come running into the intersection and both fail their dexterity checks and fall flat on their backs. Mac takes one point of damage from the fall but Jake grazes Mac's horn and takes 6. OOC your were between 50' and 60' away so would have taken the whole round to get to the intersection.

Nain watches the confusion with a slight smile on his lips.

Tishe suddenly screams with alarm as the second monster rises before her and slashes a claw at her. He rakes her across the chest for 11 points of damage.

OOC To get an understanding of the situation: 6 dead ogres, one dead umberhulk, one dead troll,
share an area with Trellus who is on his face, Grymash who is on his back, Gilan who is somehow standing, Mac how is on his back, Jake who is on Mac and a celestial bison who is on all of them. {I won't even mention the badger}
The whole pile is covered with blood, gore, brains, bile and intestines.

Anyone above mentioned needs a dex check of 15 to even stand up. Another dex check of 15 to move and gets -8 to attack prone and -4 if they are standing. The other -4 is do to cover and concealment.

In the southern corridor is Nain, whose inactions is gonna get someone killed and Tishe, who is now facing an angry monster by herself.

Flea runs down the corridor and around another bend in the tunnel. She sees a hole in the ground and the "giant ants" starting to climb down it. She hears in common in her head, "Good little one. Stay here for now and guard the tunnel. Kill whoever comes down it."

Gilan curses under his breathe as he looks to the mess that is going on in this little area of the cave. He glances the way that Flea fled and makes a decision on what to do. "Trellus...handle this and I will find Flea." He reaches out for his own set of powers that make him unique from the rest and slowly starts his change to wasp form. His last words are ones that he hopes the group takes to heart. "Somehow...burn those two creatures."

The transformation fully achieved he zips down the hall and hopefully past the troll that is now standing up. The dire badger disappears on a mental command of the druids as he flies by.

The half-orc flounders around in the quagmire of muck and bloody gore. Fatigue and frustration seems to be gripping the barbarian even tighter. "Hurry, get'em ... AUUGHHHH!!" He does the only thing he knows to do. Throw the other dagger.

"Heyyyaaaiii!!" screams the small woman as the second skinny monster rises and rakes his claws across her body.

The Celestial Bison needs no urging as it lumbers forward through the guck and prone heroes(Stay on feet 14 + four legs) and attacks the monster (AC23, dam: 17)

Tishe' herself tries to step back into the southern corridor and give the troll some room, but she also slips and falls into the muck of what used to be a half dozen living creatures and contributes to the overall mess.

Covered in gore, she will continue to try and avoid the monster and crawl back towards Nain.

Noticing that the dead (again) teeth thing is lying on top of him, the cleric props himself up on an elbow, and pours the oil from his flask on the thing's face.

Dropping the flask, he reaches over his head to the top of his HHHaversack. The flint and steel he wanted to get is right on top.

Jake jumps up to his feet and somehow manages to retain them...perhaps by putting a foot on Mac's stomach as an anchor. But his foot skids, so he doesn't move this round.

Instead, dropping his shield, he draws forth his brand new bow, hoping he gets to use it for once...remembering how last time during that ship battle he never got ot use it.

Grymash is able to get a dagger off and wound the troll (figure everyone has figured that out by now)but only does 14 points of damage. OOC really shouldn't allow it as you tried to stand up and then drew your weapon but I allowed it last time so for sake of consistancy... critical hit does 7 x 2= 14)

Tishe tries to run away and draws an AoO but the troll misses. The bison is facing the wrong way and needs to turn around in the tight quarters before he can try and attack. He steps on every one still on the ground as his hooves thrash to get footing. Trellus takes 1, Mac takes 2, and Grymash has his hand firmly crushed taking 6.

Nain shoots but misses.

Gilan flies down the corridor and should get to Flea next round.

As Mac needs to stand up and swing at the troll, I am allowing the troll to swing first. Tishe disappears from his few, so he swings at Nain. He connects with both claws, but misses with his bite. The claws are bad enough. They seem to dig in and rip hunks of flesh from the dwarf, doing 33 points of damage.

Mac then hacks the creature down again..OOC need to roll damage Mac but since he had only 2 htps left, I am sure you put him down.

Trellus is successful pouring his oil and getting his flint and steel but he is covered with so much gore, he isn't sure he will make a spark.

Jake now has his bow out.

All of the bad guys are down and I am out of doors....wait! Still have one door!

The far western door opens again and a dwarf sticks his head out and looks around. He will stage whisper, "Did you kill the masters?"

The barbarian cleric remains motionless slumped over a dead umber hulk. His body is partially submerged in blood and gore. His body is battered worse than anyone has ever seen. Signs of life remain as his chest still heaves with breath.

Grymash maybe resting unconsciously with a battered and broken body, but at least the voices in his head have stopped. (Except for all the usual ones :)

Mac looks around to see who is most in need of healing - Grymash wins. He reaches into his pack and pulls out a Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds {2d8+3, yes?} and administers it to the clerbarian. "Hopefully he will then be able to help the rest", he says to no one in particular.

"If noone objects I'll head off after Gilan... and Flea."

The dwarf's appearance doesn't improve his mood.
"Yes!" he snaps in reply, having no idea if they've killed the 'masters' or not.
"You wanna help? Bring us a torch!!"

The young cleric works his flint and steel, trying to get a spark on the oil covering teeth thing.

Grymash's eyes flicker open and stare up at Mac with a bit of surprise. "Yooz, huh, OK?" he mumbles with a raspy and breathless voice. "Huh, huh, Mac all bloodied up! Grymash looks at himself and all the bodies. "Oh yeah! Right! Gry too. Did weez gets 'em all?"

Grymash struggles to his feet (Dex check 17). He uses his double axe for extra support and leverage in the slippery blood and gore. He attempts to make his way over to the second troll who collapsed in the southern corridor. Gry turns to Trellus and makes a simple request. "Trellus, can yooz pull out Gry's dagger befors yooz lite up da treadle?"

If Grymash is able to trudge out of the muck and mire (movement 40, 20 half) to the south corridor, he drops to his knees in exhaustion next to the second troll. "Nain ... Tishe; huh, huh, help Gry finish 'em. Gry gots oil an flint in pack." He slides his haversack off his shoulders and onto the floor next to him. The barbarian pauses only to hack, spit and cough to clear his throat.

The group starts to pull itself together and off the pile of bodies and gore.

Jake watches in fascination as he sees the troll's wounds start to close before his very eyes.

The dwarf ducks his head out of the door and reappears with a torch very quickly. He scurries up and says, "Yes you must burn the trolls but shouldn't you pulll them outside? You will fill the tunnels with smoke."

The dwarf looks to be middle-aged and has a wary frightened look about him as he glances at the bodies of the slain and the bloodsplattered and wounded Bloodpack. He asks again, "You really killed the masters? All of them?"

Gilan goes around the tunnel and sees an alert Flea guarding a tunnel heading down.

Flea feels something rumbling around in her brain, poking and prodding, none to gently. "Ahh your one of the sneaky ones. Why don't you hide and surprise your friends when them come by?"

Flea senses almost nothing but the desire to carry out the command given to her to guard the hole. Upon recieving a new message, she blankly looks about for the darkest side of the tunnel and shifts over to that side where she becomes one with the shadows (Hide=41).

She registers the flying insect, and wrinkles her brow in concentration and confusion that such a creature should have found it's way into the tunnel. The rogue raises her sword to swat at it, when deep in her unconscious there is a flicker of recognition. The cloud momentarily lifts, and Flea's eyes shine bright in recognition (Will Save=22!, nat. 20!)* and she cries,"Gilan!" as she quickly checks her attack.

*(OOC: George, p. 224 PHB 'Dominate Person' indicates "subjects resist this control, and any subject forced to take actions against its nature recieves a new saving throw with a +2 bonus.")

Jake moves cautiously forward to where the troll is, looks around for anything interesting (Spot 10), and stares as it regenerates. "We have to carry this thing outside? man, I can barely move through this goo without slipping. Wait, I have an idea...a gross one. Let's cut its limbs off."
With that, he gives it a swing, trying to hack off the head with his sword. (11 damage, 3 cold as well) In his other hand, he holds his bow still...

After hearing the dwarfs concerns, Grymash gets the same idea on how to deal with these regenerating treadles (Wis 12, Survival 19). "CHOP'EM UP! Gry bet them treadles heal slower when in pieces. Weez take thems pieces parts down dis cave," Grymash points down the southern corridor, "weez burn'em down dis way ... smoke leave out front of cave."

Grymash gets back up and takes his axe. He begins to chop away at the troll's limbs. First head, arms, then torso and legs.

(This action will take several rounds to perform. I don't know if we're still in combat. Helpless targets have a -5 Dex modifer and attackers get a +4 to hit. The trolls also get an additional -4 to AC for being prone. Attacks to Troll2. HitAC: 36head/33crit, 19arm, 27arm, 36torso/26crit, 33leg, 35leg)

"Nain, take yur axe an chop up dat one next ta Trellus an throws da pieces parts over here wit these. Tishe, in Gry's pack theres be oil an flint an uh big blankie. Weez can put pieces parts on blankie and drag thems to da front of cave. There weez burn 'em!" Grymash goes ahead and pulls out his big blanket. It magically appears at the top of his haversack when he opens it. He starts piling body parts onto it like logs for the fire.

The barbarian looks soo incredibly tired. He just wants to get this done and go to bed. It hasn't dawned on him that Flea is missing (Wis 9).

With the dwarf bringing a torch, and a plan on how to keep the teeth things -- 'trolls' he called them -- dead, and most importantly, that sunbaked hoofed thing no longer jumping on him, Trellus feels a lot better.

He directs Domi's Hammer at the troll to make sure it doesn't pop up and grab him before Nain shows up.
[Hit ac 16 on prone troll for 3 hp damage.]

"Shady, you guys chop and burn away," he comments.

"YOU," he commands, pointing a blood soaked finger at the strange dwarf, "stay here and help." The cleric ignores the question about the 'masters'.

Trellus crawls over to the northern corridor to get some footing. Calling down the hallway to Mac and Gilan, he yells, "You dudes shady?"

He comes around the corner to see Flea standing there with her sword drawn. Then he sees the sword start to flash towards him and he makes to move out of the way, but he knows that he is too late.

Suddenly she says his name out loud and he finds himself changing back into his human form at her feet. He drops to one knee and attempts to pull her into a big hug. "Flea...thought we had lost you there girl." He holds the hug for several minutes and finally lets her go.

A sudden holler from up te tunnel stops him from saying anything else and he silently wipes his face. Then his face hardens with a need for something. "The ants...do you know which way?"

"Right, Grymash." Still on all fours, the small woman crawls over to the haversack and pulls out the oil and the blanket for use on the monsters, wincing now and again when she twists against a wound.

Flea is able to throw off the spell and is engulfed in a huge and very long lasting hug by Gilan.

Mac comes around the corner and sees them and stops and wonders if Gilan is really smelling Flea's hair or is he just imagining it.

The main group starts their grisly task of chopping up the trolls into little pieces. What they are going to do with the pieces hasn't been determined yet.

The dwarf walks over to Trellus and grabs him, not threatening but more imploringly. "Please where are the bodies of the masters? I have to see them! You did kill them right?" The dwarf's head starts swivelling back and forth and the fear in his eyes are starting to mount.

The extremely disheveled woman takes the contents of Gry's flasks of oil and begins liberally spreading them on the chopped troll bits awaiting Trellus' torch.

She is distracted by the dwarf's insistant questioning, however, and pauses in thought.

"Trellus", she says tucking a wet strand of hair behind one ear, "the masters could be those ant-things you picked. They were the white hands enchanting Mac, Grymash, and Flea, weren't they?"

Jake looks over at the dwarf, then decides someone else will deal with him. Dwarves look funny, he thinks to himself, and chuckles while sidling on his bow. Sheathing his sword as well, he takes out a hand axe usually used for throwing and begins carefully hacking the troll to weaken it, then cuts off a leg. "I think we should begin to cart these outside to burn them. Er...maybe the giant will eat them?"

Flea returns Gilan's hug, a little surprised and a little frightened. "Wha...What happened?" she asks as a flood of images flashes through her mind...

Shadowy ant like creatures behind a veritable horde of attacking monsters. The sensation that someone or something was controlling her actions. Grymash and Trellus, both covered in gore and bleeding from ghastly wounds. Mac charging and hacking at the ghastly things. Nain caught in the fray, a look of horror on his face. Tishe' weaving magics. A pile of corpses. Jake running past her to help his pack.

When the realisation of what she has done and the role she has played in the Bloodpack's misfortune hits her, her face goes white, then suffuses with a red blush of shame. Short sword still in hand, she turns to the hole in the ground and points at it with her blade, spitting out, "They're down there ."

Trellus makes sure the torch gets to Tishe'. Then he makes sure Jake doesn't get too carried away.
"Just carry them near the cave mouth and burn 'em," he cautions, "That should chimney out the smoke without opening you up to the giant."

The dwarf's snivelling does not endear him to the cleric.
"By Domi, you whine worse than my sister."
Trellus shakes his head and leads the dwarf up the northern corridor.
As they get to the ant bodies he looks about, hand on hips. "Well, we cut three anyway," he states matter of factly .
"How many are there?"

Seeing Flea, Gilan and Mac coming back, he grins.
"Shady!"

"Let's all weave back to this dude's house and regroup."
He puts a hand on the dwarf's shoulder.
"C'mon"

Grymash finishes chopping up the troll and stacks the remaining pieces like logs onto the blanket. He turns around to see Trellus and the rest return from down the north corridor. "Gute! Every bodies looks ta be ok. Gots lotta work ta do befores weez rest." Grymash reaches down into his haversack and pulls out a shovel and leans it against the wall. Gry continues, "Sumeone needs ta loot da bodies an gets them ready for da fire. If pack is stayin' here, weez need ta get rid of thems before thay stink an draw blood flies and creepers. Da giant may likes ta eat'em. Gry not care. Also, weez need ta shovel a path through all dat blood after it starts ta thicken. Blood may look an smell pretty, but Gry not like walkin' though it."

Grymash then grabs both ends of the blanket and picks up the first load of troll parts to take to the cave entrance. He grunts with every other step.

Gilan looks to Flea and lays his hand on her shoulder. "Don't you fret it any." He follows along with Mac to the hallway of blood and gore. He tries not to think of his inappropriate actions earlier but he was just so worried about her, like a sister.

Listening to the comments about the mess and having to walk through it he ponders it for a few minutes. "Since this is not the plains maybe a little water spell would help out?" It is a question and a statement all at once.

Trellus finds his hand flying away from the dwarf as the dwarf swats it away. A terrible look of anger is on the stout ones face and his body trembles with rage.

"How dare you talk to me this way! My sister is in the bugs main hive and is forced to work day in and day out. Her good behavior is assured by me and her children who are held hostage here!"

A look of determination crosses over the dwarve's face and he continues, "My name is Crondarik Thickneck and I will bow to no one again even if it costs me my family." He spins and strides away with purpose towards the door he first came out of bellowing, "Clan Ironhook! Pack! We are getting out of here!"

The others keep chopping and bagging troll parts and Mac and the others rejoin them.

The small woman nods at the dwarf's words, not in agreement, but because it confirms her thoughts. "Trellus, perhaps he is weaving true, then we can help him with the ants, and he can help us find the gem."

Her suggestion done, her concentration moves to stabbing the occasional troll part looking like signes of life, and gathering torch and oil to burn the lot near the cave entrance.

"Hmmm. I'll bet the giant is controlled by the ants, too. If we kill the ants, the giant will go away and we'll be able to get out."

Hearing what the dwarf said, Jake frowns, feeling a bit of sympathy. Hacking the thing one more time for good measure (to keep it still just a bit), he puts aside his axe and speaks to the dwarf.
"I'm sorry if we offended you... We're not really sure where we are, or who you are, we're just here trying to understand what's going on. Sir Dwarf of Clan Ironhook, we have come here to accomplish a deed, and, if we can, to rescue and help out good causes. If we get the chance, we'll try to rescue your friend, and we will surely try to get as many of those ant things as we can."

Chastened, Trellus rubs his hand over the back of his neck as he quietly follows Ironhook and his packmates back down the tunnel.

One of his mother's favorite sayings floats through his mind - "Think, then talk."

I'm getting too shuttlecocked, he realizes with regret.

He approaches Crondarik.
"Dude, my bad. I wasn't thinking about why you'd all be weaving here. Like Jake said, we're looking for some red gem, and we're pledged to serve. Maybe the two of us can start over."
The cleric extends a hand.
"I'm Trellus of Rattledam," he says formally, and we're called the Bloodpack." He looks at the gore, before adding, "for obvious reasons."

Oh yeah
"Flea, can I have my healing wand back?"

Grymash dumps his pile of troll parts at the cave entrance. Since Tishe has already poured on the oil, he waits for her to light'em up. The fire seems to burn the troll flesh rather easily. It produces a foul-smelling smoke though. Grymash doesn't mind. He just smiles and says, "Heal yo'selves outa da fire, yooz tupid pugdung peegruba runtie treadle piggies!"

Grymash rolls up his blanket and heads back for another load.

With an abashed look on her face, Flea removes the wand* from her belt and hands it to Trellus. She doesn't look up or make eye contact with the cleric, while she mumbles something about "accidentally breaking the other one." (Bluff=17)

Gilan watches as the cleanup of the trolls continues. He waits to see what the dwarf has to say further on things but he keeps out of it himself.

When the trolls are gone he will concentrate on the powers of nature and call upon his power to create water. "Onta vasa." The water appears in the air above the mess and splashes down on it to run off down the tunnel.

Crondarik hears the group try to apologize and his face softens.

"I understand why you are untrusting, but yoiu don't understand what it has been like. I am gratefull for your assistance and this is the best chance what is left of my clan, has for escape. We have been prisoners for years, smoothing these walls and working the farms day after day."

The dwarf will enter a large room which is filled with other dwarves. You see one, the same one who lured you in, tied up, gagged, and blindfolded in a corner.

The room seems to be the dwarves' living quarters and is neat but over crowded. 19 other dwarves are here besides Crondarik. 12 are male and 8 are female in all.

The rogue looks around at the members of her pack. Some of them look pretty tired. Tishe' in particular. Seems to the gnome that those who create magic give a little of themselves in the process.

Figuring that the party is going to need to rest up a bit, and then discuss what to do next, Flea squeezes into the room already crowded with dwarves. As she passes by the one that is bound up, she gives her a spiteful kick, despising the dwarf for succumbing just as she herself had to the 'masters' domination.

Flea flushes in shame, and hopes no one saw her malicious gesture. She gives the room a quick search, looking for any doors that might lead of to other rooms. (Search=17)

"You must be the dwarves we hear of, in these mountains...shady. Ah've been wantin' to see what it was like here... But ah didn' know about those things. What were those bugs?"

Trellus takes the CSW wand back from Flea. She doesn't look at him.
The young man puts a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Its OK." he says gently. "We can always get another wand."

The cleric taps himself and Grymash with one shot each.
[Gry - 24 hp healed.
Trellus - 19 hp healed]
"Gry, use your feel good stick to make yourself better," he reminds his friend.

Nodding at Mac's reasonable suggestion, he turns to Crondarik.
"We're totally new here, so anything you can tell us or give us about this place would be waxed."
Looking at the blindfolded dwarf, Trellus gets a jolt.
"The Masters can see through those they've dominated? Uh, can they hear as well?"
