DM Kathy Thursday August 5th, 2004 12:50:49 AM
"Hm. At this hour they're probably all still abed," the girl says with some contempt. She adds, "I don't know for sure who Jarvis's two friends on horseback were; he runs with several of the wealthy young people in the neighborhood. Most likely Bremton and Fansworth; they're not much brighter than Jarvis and could probably have been talked into something like this. I don't know who the footmen might have been. Hirelings most likely."
She can tell you where to find the estates of Bremton and Fanswirth.
Mira asks around and gets a description of Vecca--short, slender, red-haired, freckled. It doesn't seem to match anyone she's met.
Kadaz Thursday August 5th, 2004 5:51:12 AM
Kadaz listens to the information that Mira uncovers. "Let's be off and track down Bremton and Fanswirth. Not much more to be learned sitting here."
Arm Thursday August 5th, 2004 8:06:38 AM
"Aye," replies Arm after he thanks the barmaid profusely for her help, "Let us go and look for these two, and if we should happen across Jarvis in the process, so much the better...".
Evan Thursday August 5th, 2004 6:43:21 PM
Evan nods in agreement with Kadaz and Arm. He drops a coupld of silver coins on the table as a tip for the har working waitress then rises. Much like Conner, Evan is itching for some action rather than all this talk. At no other time is his handicap more emphasized as when its time to talk and it makes Evan uncomfortable.
Mira Thursday August 5th, 2004 6:53:14 PM
Returning to the table occupied by the party members, Mira remains standing, anxious to be on the go. "You coming too?" she asks fixing the newcommers with a green eyed stare. "By the way, what did you say your names were?" she adds.
Conner Thursday August 5th, 2004 11:31:21 PM
Conner shoulders his pack, adjusts his longsword, and makes sure that his beloved shield is firmly attached to his pack. The fighter readies to leave.
DM Kathy Friday August 6th, 2004 2:25:30 AM
"You may call me Seeker," says Devryn, "because I seek to return that which was taken from us."
You leave the inn knowing of three locations: Jarvis's house, Bremton's house, and Fansworth's house. Fansworth's is the closest, so you find yourselves there first.
There is a gatehouse, much as there was at Wycklea. The gatekeeper asks your business, and seems unsurprised that such an odd assortment of people has come to call on "Master Fansworth."
"He won't be up yet," the man cautions you, "but I suppose it won't do no harm if you wait for him. No weapons, mind," he adds, eyeing Conner and Kadaz. "I'll keep 'em safe for you until your visit's over."
Arm Friday August 6th, 2004 8:25:00 AM
Arm unslings his crossbow & unbuckles his sword, handing them to the gatekeeper, adding with a wry grin, "I hope ye will allow me to keep my lute, as even though it is possible to bean a person on the head with it, I hardly intend to do so.".
Shadow Friday August 6th, 2004 8:54:45 AM
Following the group to this other estate, Shadow is wondering what good any of this is going to do. Thinking to himself, 'How did I get into this?'
He hears the request of the gatekeeper, and reluctantly gives up his bow & quiver, rapier, and four daggers (that he had secreted around his body). He will not speak out during this even though he will slightly shake his head.
Wilfire Ironhouse Saturday August 7th, 2004 9:47:02 AM
Wilfire passes over his flail, but isn't overly happy to do so.
"Be careful with that. It is very special to me."
Uriel d20+2=13 Saturday August 7th, 2004 10:12:51 AM
Uriel looks hard at the gatekeeper, as if to read his intent (Detect Evil and Sense Motive:13).
If he feels ok about the gatekeeper, Uriel asks the gatekeeper where he can put his weaponry, intending on doing it himself. He gives up everything but his walking stick (staff) - longsword, greatsword, 2 daggers, bow and mace.
Conner d20-2=9 Saturday August 7th, 2004 2:01:04 PM
The fighter eyes the gatekeeper warily, but when he sees the others give up their weapons he does likewise, leaving his longsword and shortbow & quiver with the other weapons. He leaves his shield slung over his back and walks through as casually as possble [bluff=9]
Kadaz Sunday August 8th, 2004 6:56:41 AM
Kadaz feels like a piker next to Uriel has he has only a battle axe, light flail, dagger and cross bow to remove.
Mira Sunday August 8th, 2004 7:52:07 AM
The sorcerer smiles secretly, and hands over her shortspear, light crossbow, and even fishes out a dagger from where it is hidden in her boot.
DM Kathy Monday August 9th, 2004 12:16:30 AM
The gatekeeper accepts your weapons without comment, only raising his eyebrows a bit at the sheer number being left with him. Uriel detects no evil in the man, and senses that he is only doing his job--without a great deal of enthusiasm. He allows Arm to keep his lute and Uriel to keep his staff, and says nothing about Conner's shield. With some eye rolling, he will open the storage box and let Uriel place his own weapons inside. Once he is satisfied that the weapons have been handed over, he shuts the box and escorts you to the front door.
He hands you over to a butler, reporting that you are here to see "Master Fansworth," then abruptly turns and leaves. It doesn't take a Sense Motive check to tell that you are officially no longer his problem, and he's glad of it.
The butler looks a little nonplused, but ushers you into a small, uncomfortable hall to wait while he goes to fetch "Master Fansworth." You wait for quite a while, but eventually you are joined by a young man still blinking the sleep out of his eyes and lacing up the front of his tunic. Mira, Evan, and Arm recognize him as one of the men who was with Jarvis.
"What the deuce do you mean, calling on a fellow at this hour of the morning?" he demands.
Kadaz d20+1=15 Monday August 9th, 2004 5:45:41 AM
Kadaz leans against a wall keeping silent. He plays close attention to Fansworth trying to determine if what the young man says is true. (sense motive 15)
Arm Monday August 9th, 2004 5:54:30 AM
"My dear sir, we apologize profusely for waking you at such an early hour, but we wish to speak to you on a matter of utmost import.", Arm says to the young man. He then looks to Mira, allowing her to tell him as much or as little of their reason for visiting as she wishes.
Shadow Monday August 9th, 2004 5:16:07 PM
Shadow will follow quietly still trying to determine what this group of individuals is doing together and what they have planned for the future.
Once they are led into the hallway, Shadow will try and make himself seem non-interesting and interested as possible. He still does not know what exactly this individual will do to help with his current assignment after all.
Evan d20+7=25 Monday August 9th, 2004 6:44:29 PM
Evan hovers protectively around Mira despite being unarmed. As soon as they arrive in the small hall, Evan's eyes quickly sweep the room, looking for things he could use as weapons if needed. (spot-25)
Uriel d20+4=15 Monday August 9th, 2004 8:15:59 PM
Uriel does a thorough scanning of the room as well (Spot:15) but leaves the talking to others for now.
{OOC: Did anyone see in my participation post last week that I needed someone to do the participation for this previous week? I am away from home this week and I think I will be too busy to get to it.}
Mira d20+2=11 d20+5=13 d20+5=15 Monday August 9th, 2004 8:23:45 PM
Mira steps forward, and in a clear voice announces, "My friends and I are investigating a mystery surrounding an estate not far from here." The sorcerer pauses to discern how her announcement is received (Sense Motive=11) before continuing, "It is a mystery concerning a missing will, and two young women who contest the ownership of the estate for some months now." Mira tries to look mysterious (Bluff=13) and says in a conspiratorial tone, "I believe a friend of yours may know something of this mystery, and we would like to speak with him. Could you provide us with an avenue to speak with master Jarvis?" (Diplomacy=15)
(OOC: Sorry Brent, I've got my fingers in too many pies, including playing Al's PC in 'Floating City'.)
DM Kathy Tuesday August 10th, 2004 12:00:12 AM
"If one of these wastrels can get us onto the estatee," Devryn whispers to Shadow, "it'll save some time. If not," he shrugs, "there's always tonight."
Uriel and Evan scan the room. It contains a few uncomfortable benches, several small ornamental tables, a vase of flowers, and some similar small bric-a-brac. Improvised weapons everywhere.
"Jarvis?" Fansworth repeats. "Well why in the Wold aren't you at his--hang on," he pauses, looking more intently at Mira. "I know you, don't I? I've seen you somewhere...." He looks at Arm and Evan, and the pieces seem to fall into place. "You're those laborers, the ones Jarvis thought were spiriting away Lady Sarla!" He eyes you all with suspicion. "Have you spirited her away? Do you plan to ask Jarvis for ransom, because frankly....well, I don't think he could pay you."
Kadaz senses that Fansworth is sincerely irritated at having been awakened before the crack of noon, and sincerely at a loss for what you all want.
Conner d20-2=1 Tuesday August 10th, 2004 12:11:40 AM
"Relax friend" the fighter speaks up in as calm a voice as he can muster [Diplomacy=1]. "We have taken no one and seek no ransom".
Arm - agreement d20+7=14 Tuesday August 10th, 2004 5:52:39 AM
Arm agrees with Conner, and expounds on his explanation with a bit more calmness, "He speaks the truth, sir. We never at any time meant any harm towards Lady Sarla, and when last we saw her, she was alive and well inside her estate. All we seek from you is an in-route to master Jarvis. Perhaps what we seek and what he seeks can come to a mutual conclusion with our help.".
Evan Tuesday August 10th, 2004 6:28:17 PM
Evan slowly moves towards the table, postioning himself so that if he has to flip the table to snap a leg off for a weapon, he will be flipping towards the surly youth.
Wilfire Ironhouse Tuesday August 10th, 2004 6:42:15 PM
The burly dwarf's face goes red with insult. I mean it isn't everyday that one is accused of kidnapping. And kidnapping a woman at that.
"You do us no great honour by accusing us of being kidnappers", he says as he leans forward in his chair.
All the while I eyes Fansworth carefully. Any sign of trouble and he will start casting.
Shadow Tuesday August 10th, 2004 7:08:49 PM
Shadow gives a slight shake of his head to Devryn's comment, and then gives him a look as to say, 'be quiet!'
Shadow will remain almost against the wall waiting to see what this Fansworth is really made of.
Mira d20+3=22 d20+2=17 Tuesday August 10th, 2004 10:14:40 PM
"Silly boy!" cries Mira taking a step closer towards Farnsworth. "Haven't you heard a word I've said?!" (Intimidate=22)
The sorcerer is truly frustrated at this point and is having trouble reigning in her temper. "We know nothing of any kidnapping and as we've already told you and your friend Jarvis, we've seen the lady Sarla. What concerns us is a mystery over a missing will, and the two young women who contest the ownership of the estate. This Sarla, whom your friend Jarvis holds in such high esteem, and her cousin Avendri." Mira watches Farnsworth to see how the fellow reacts to the names. (Sense Motive=17)
DM Kathy Wednesday August 11th, 2004 1:44:39 AM
Conner's attempt at diplomacy seems to make the young man uneasy. "I say," he asks Arm in an undertone. "Is he...all right? Safe, I mean?"
"I meant no disrespect, I'm sure," he says hastily to Wilfire. "It's just that...well, you are a rather odd lot, aren't you?" He looks again at the three he saw earlier. "I don't believe you're laborers at all."
He takes a step back when Mira begins her tirade, but recovers his equilibrium nicely. "Wha--missing will?" he asks, baffled. "No such thing, my good woman. Daval's will was all in order, and left everything to Sarla. Avandri was none too pleased, I can tell you."
"Anyway," he says with a tremendous yawn. "If you want to speak to Jarvis, I suggest you go to his estate and roust him from his bed."
Arm Wednesday August 11th, 2004 5:40:56 AM
Seeing that the youngster will be of no further help to them, Arm says, "Please accept our deepest apologies for rousing you so early, and thank you for seeing us. We will take our leave now.". With a meaningful look at the others, he begins to head for the door.
Conner Wednesday August 11th, 2004 8:03:30 AM
Conner smiles to himself as he takes his leave, secretly happy that his presence made the fop so uncomfortable.
Shadow Wednesday August 11th, 2004 5:00:25 PM
Shadow will remain behind the group, thinking, 'what a waste of time', but he will not say anything.
Shadow Wednesday August 11th, 2004 5:01:01 PM
What I meant is that he will stay at the rear of the group. (just clarification.)
Mira Wednesday August 11th, 2004 7:24:45 PM
Mira exits the Farnsworth manor with the rest of the party. "This is one exercise in frustration, I tell you! The more we find out, the more I think this Sarla person is the rightful owner of the manor, and it's contents!"
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm of half a mind to return to the city and abandon this mission.
Uriel Wednesday August 11th, 2004 9:23:26 PM
Uriel shakes his head at the antics of the nobleman and follows the party from the estate.
Kadaz Wednesday August 11th, 2004 9:35:46 PM
Kadaz walks from the house feeling more frustrated than before. Everyone here feels Saarla is the rightful owner. But Avandri was very convincing.
Kadaz bends over and pats Birdie's head. "So, what do you think?" he asks the dog. Birdie wags his tail and keeps his own counsel.
DM Kathy Thursday August 12th, 2004 12:32:51 AM
With grave misgivings as to the legitimacy of Avandri's claim, the group makes its way to Jarvis's father's estate. There it a gatehouse here, as well, but it is clearly unoccupied and the gate stands open.
You proceed up to the manor house itself, and from here the routine is similar to what you encountered earlier at Fansworth's. A servant greets you and asks your business, you are asked to leave your weapons, and you are led to an even more uncomfortable hall to cool your heels until Jarvis's arrival.
When he does arrive, he is likewise disheveled. His doublet does not precisely match his hose, and his shoes do not precisely match each other.
"What do you want?" he demands petulently. "Can't you let a fellow sleep?"
Arm d20+7=10 Thursday August 12th, 2004 5:05:41 AM
Arm begins by saying, "Pardon the interruption to your sleep, sir, but we feel that we got off on the wrong foot with you the last time we met. We thought that we should meet with you and discuss the matter of Lady Sarla with you further, and that we might be of mutual help to each other.". Arm frowns inwardly after this speech, as the stress of the past two days is clearly getting to him (diplomacy=10).
Conner d20-2=13 Thursday August 12th, 2004 8:39:27 AM
Still pleased with his ability to intimidate these nobles, Conner crosses his massive arms and stands directly in Jarvis' line of view. [Intimidate=13; OOC It still bugs me that charisma is the ability used for intimidate - low charisma should be a blessing here]
Shadow Thursday August 12th, 2004 11:08:49 PM
Following along, Shadow still shakes his head and mutters, "What a waste of time this is." He will not really do anything to hamper the group, but is feeling more and more that he will need to go on his own for this job.
DM Kathy Friday August 13th, 2004 2:22:59 AM
"Lady Sarla," Jarvis repeats with a sigh, a wistful smile on his face. "How I long to see her again. What a tragic whatsit is Fate--" He catches sight of Conner and breaks off, paling slightly.
"But--er--" he begins, keeping a wary eye on the tattooed fighter, "what--er--matter did you wish to discuss? And what do you mean by mutual help?" His face grows petulent. "You certainly weren't much help last night. Making a fellow think you've got a lady with you when all the time--" Once again, he seems to get distracted by thoughts of his beloved. "Did you see her? Have you spoken to her? How did she look; did she look well? Did she--er--mention me at all?"
Arm d20+7=17 Friday August 13th, 2004 5:54:03 AM
Composing himself somewhat, Arm continues the dialogue, "Kind sir, at no time did we ever say that we had Sarla...matter of fact, we asserted from the get-go that we did NOT have her. Since both you AND we wish to speak to her, perhaps we could help each other out in that respect. As far as discussing her, we wish to learn more about her from you...to learn more about that woman that has so obviously captivated you so. To answer your final questions, yes we have seen her and spoken to her...unfortunately, she did not mention you, but then again she did not mention much at all...our meeting with her was brief to be sure, and she obviously has grave events on her mind. What say you, would you be willing to throw your lot in with us so we can BOTH be fulfilled?".
arm Friday August 13th, 2004 5:54:27 AM
sorry.....diplomacy=17
Mira d20+5=12 d20+2=17 Sunday August 15th, 2004 8:54:51 AM
Mira nods emphatically when Arm speaks. She bites her tongue to keep from saying what she really feels about the foolish young man. Arm seems to have the situation under control.
(Aid Another p. 65 PHB, Diplomacy=12, Arm gets +2 bonus to his check making it 19)
While the bard makes his pitch, the sorcerer looks around, taking in the state of the surroundings (Spot=17)
Kadaz d20+1=8 Sunday August 15th, 2004 2:16:23 PM
Kadaz stays in the background, looking around the room for anything that seems suspicious. (spot 8)
Conner d20-2=11 Sunday August 15th, 2004 5:20:22 PM
The fighter maintains his position and listens carefully to Jarvis' words trying to decide if he is anything more than the fool he appears to be [sense motive =11]
Uriel Sunday August 15th, 2004 11:10:36 PM
Uriel will stay close to Mira and Arm, ready to step in if this flake of a noble loses it.
DM Kathy Monday August 16th, 2004 12:43:32 AM
Jarvis sighs. "Yes, I was afraid so. Always working." He looks around at you. "Still if you've any suggestions for winning her over, I would love to hear them."
Seeming to remember the rest of Arm's question, he says, "What can I tell you about Sarla? She's the most wonderful girl in the Wold, of course. She works very hard on that estate of hers--always has, really. She's terribly clever, you know. And kind, and generous, and thoughtful, and just.....well, you know."
Arm d20+7=20 Monday August 16th, 2004 5:55:07 AM
An idea forming in his head, Arm continues, "I just had a thought...do you by any chance possess any singing talent? If so, I can provide backup on my lute, and perhaps you can convince Sarla of your intentions. I'd be happy to teach you a ballad or two, if you'd like. Here's a sampling of my work.". Saying so, he unslings his lute and and begins to play a soft, romantic melody (perform=20).
Kadaz Monday August 16th, 2004 6:09:15 PM Yea right, like this kid can sing. thinks Kadaz to himself. Maybe Birdie can howl along with him.
Mira d20+5=24 Monday August 16th, 2004 6:09:54 PM
Mira siddles up to Arm as he plays his melody and whispers, "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" With a raised eybrow she continues, "help lover boy over here win the heart of his true love, and he'll owe us a big one?"
Mira's eyes flash and she has trouble keeping her smile secret, as she claps her hands lightly in counterpoint to Arm's romantic melody.
When the music is completed, Mira volunteers, "perhaps I can help you with some poetry or other gentle words that might help persuade the reluctant maiden to be more accepting of your well intentioned advances?"
Wild Nights-Wild Nights! Were I with thee Wild Nights should be our luxury!
Diplomacy=24 (With a little help from Emily Dickinson!)
Uriel Monday August 16th, 2004 11:22:47 PM
Uriel watches the interaction with Mira, Arm and Jarvis, a slight smile playing on his lips.
Conner d20+3=9 Tuesday August 17th, 2004 12:17:07 AM
Not at all sure of what is going on, the fighter maintains a watchful eye on the proceedings [Spot=9].
DM Kathy Tuesday August 17th, 2004 12:45:18 AM
Jarvis looks up eagerly at Arm's suggestion. "I say, would you, would you really?" He listens to both Arm and Mira perform, and applauds. "Excellent. My word, how clever; did you just make that up?"
Then his face falls. "Still, in order to perform for her, we have to get onto the estate somehow." He seems to make up his mind. "Nevertheless, we must attempt it. Yes! I am determined. Faint heart never thingammy and all that."
With that, he begins to make preparations, and soon you find yourselves heading back toward the gatehouse of Sarla's (or is it Avandri's?) estate.
[OOC: sorry if I'm hijacking anybody, but I'm trying to move this along as quickly as I can.]
Arm Tuesday August 17th, 2004 5:54:16 AM
As he plays, Arm turns to Mira, smiles and winks. "Exactly," he whispers. Pleased with how his plan is going thusfar, he shoulders his lute and prepares to venture of to Sarla's/Avandri's estate once again, hopfully this time with better results.
Evan d20+7=27 d20+7=17 Tuesday August 17th, 2004 6:00:34 AM
Evan watches and listens, his eyes constatnly on his surroundings. As Evan watches Mira and Arm working together, he cannot help but wonder once again what Mira sees in a mute woodsman like himself.
(spot- 27 nat 20, listen-17)
Kadaz Tuesday August 17th, 2004 7:22:03 AM
Kadaz walks behind the puppy-eyed fop and shakes his head sadly. Puffing up this shallow nincompoop seems degrading. It's a good idea, but will she fall for it? This should be interesting.
"Arm, what should the rest of us do? Shake tamborines? Sing backup? Act like family retainers?"
Shadow Tuesday August 17th, 2004 9:50:41 AM
When the group and Jarvis are not looking Shadow will just roll his eyes and begin to wonder what has he gotten himself into.
Knowing that for right now he will not be able to do anything else, Shadow follows along.
Mira Tuesday August 17th, 2004 5:49:13 PM
Mira is glad that things seem to be picking up. She hangs back a bit, letting Arm accompany Jarvis.
Noting the newcomer is getting a little antsy, she addresses Shadow in a low voice. "If we can get inside Wycliff, why don't you hive off and do some reconaissance? You know, look for the artifact?" Signing to Evan*, she continues to speak to Shadow. "Why don't you go with Evan? He can be pretty sneaky, and he's quiet." Mira blushes a little after the last comment.
*Evan or anyone who can read Sign Language and sees Mira's gestures Highlight to display spoiler: {Keep an eye on this one. I don't trust him! Make sure he doesn't make off with the artifact, but cover him if there is trouble. Ooops! Sorry about that, luv.}
Wilfire Tuesday August 17th, 2004 9:41:03 PM
The red haired dwarf also rolls his eyes, and then begins to nervously tap is hands against his sides as his impatience gets the better of him.
OOC- Sorry about the bad week of posting. My computer at home is down.
Conner Tuesday August 17th, 2004 10:52:00 PM
Glad to be finally underway, the fighter takes the lead on the way to Sarla's estate.
Uriel Wednesday August 18th, 2004 12:27:15 AM
"Onward then, to Sarla and Wycklea!" Uriel is also glad to be heading towards a definitive goal.
DM Kathy Wednesday August 18th, 2004 1:43:29 AM
As the group moves along, Devryn takes the opportunity to lag behind a bit with Shadow. "This could be our opportunity," he murmurs. "One of us should try to get in and search, and the other should try one last time to convince this harridan to give up the artifact. Which task do you prefer?"
Soon the group finds itself in what is familiar territory for some of you--the Wycklea gatehouse. Josef comes out to greet you. "Lord Jarvis," he says with a sigh. "Lovely to see you, as always, but....well, I think Mistress was pretty clear last time. I'm not to admit you without an appointment." He glances around at the rest of you, then nods a bit when he takes in Arm, Evan, and Mira. "Thought there might be a bit more to you folk than met the eye." His gaze sweeps the party. "What is your business at Wycklea?"
Arm d20+7=18 Wednesday August 18th, 2004 5:44:26 AM
Arm holds back a bit, and places a hand on Kadaz's shoulder, whispering, "My suggestion is that you do what you do best, my friend...improvise.".
Upon reaching the estate, Arm, glancing at Mira & Uriel for support if need be, says "Well met again, kind sir. We were hoping that we would catch the mistress at a better time today, and we have an important message to deliver to her, something to perhaps lift her spirits.". (diplomacy=18)
Shadow Wednesday August 18th, 2004 11:35:56 AM
"Devryn, you might be known to the staff, and would be missed, so if I get an opportunity I will sneak off to gather intelligence." With that Shadow will remain quiet until the group moves on.
He will remain in the back of the group and wait for his chance.
Kadaz d20+1=7 Wednesday August 18th, 2004 9:23:21 PM
"Improvise" mutters Kadaz under his breath. He keeps his eyes open for an opportunity to do something useful but nothing comes up immediately (spot 7)
Mira d20+5=18 d20+2=18 Thursday August 19th, 2004 1:09:15 AM
"Appointment or no appointment, you've got to take us to see Lady Saarla" insists Mira. (Aid Another, Diplomacy=18)
The sorcerer squints her eyes and casts a stern look at the whispering rogues wondering what they could be up to. (Listen=18)
Wilfire Ironhouse Thursday August 19th, 2004 1:36:24 AM
Wilfire stands behind Mira to offer a little support. The tapping on his side continues as he grows more impatient.
'Cracking heads is a lot easier than all this waiting', he thinks to himself.
Evan d20+7=24 d20+7=15 Thursday August 19th, 2004 5:56:28 AM
A sudden smile brightens Evan's face in response to Mira's signing and he nods slightly to let her know he understands. He allows most of the party to pass him by, falling to the rear of the party so that he can keep an eye, and ear, on the two rogues. Its obvious they are up to something. (listen-24, spot-15)
Conner Thursday August 19th, 2004 7:39:56 AM
Conner stays by Jarvis' side in case the fop decides to do anything rash. Conner will attempt to subdue him if required.
Uriel d20+3=23 Thursday August 19th, 2004 10:26:27 PM
Uriel shakes his head at the gatekeeper's reaction to Jarvis.
He then stands up straight his full height a head above most of the party. He addresses the Gatekeeper directly. "Regardless of past history with Jarvis, he is also here representing us on some sensitive business relating to the late Master of the Estate. We have not been able to set up an appointment with Sarla, but find it expedient that we speak to her. Some of our business is time sensitive in nature and it would be in your current mistress's best interests if you found some way to facilitate a meeting with her..." {Diplomacy:23 Natural 20!}
DM Kathy Friday August 20th, 2004 2:11:58 AM
Walking behind the two rogues, Evan hears Devryn say something about searching and an artifact. He does not hear Shadow's reply.
Josef looks sympathetic but resolute as first Arm, then Mira attempt to persuade him to let them in. Uriel's speech, though, seems to do the trick.
"I think you may have something there, young sir," he says slowly, and frowns in thought. "I can't go against Mistress's orders, though...especially not now." He looks around at the group and seems to make up his mind. "Here's what I'll do. If you, young sir" (to Uriel) "will give me your word of honor that you all will wait right here, I'll go and fetch Lady Sarla so she can hear what you have to say."
If the group agrees [again, I don't mean to hijack, just move things along], he disappears toward the manor house. Some twenty minutes later, he returns with Sarla. The blond woman is wearing mud-spattered riding clothes and her hair is mussed. She catches sight of Jarvis and rolls her eyes.
"Well? What is it?" she demands of the group in general.
Jarvis gathers himself up as if preparing to launch into a sonnet.
Evan Friday August 20th, 2004 5:59:39 AM
Evan takes note of the mud-splattered riding clothes of Sarla's, making a mental note to himself to return later to try and discover where Sarla has been riding at on the estate. In the meantime, he keeps a sharp eye on Devryn and Shadow.
Arm d20+7=26 Friday August 20th, 2004 9:20:50 AM
Laying a hand on Jarvis' shoulder to silence him for the moment, Arm begins, "My dear lady, we happened upon this young man who seems quite enamoured by you, and we agreed to accompany him so that he may make his feelings known to you in song.". With that, he unslings his lute and begins to play a soft, melodic and romantic melody, while nodding to Mira to accompany Jarvis should his stylings stray too far out of key. (perform=26)
Mira d20+3=17 Sunday August 22nd, 2004 7:10:13 PM
Mira hands Jarvis a small piece of paper on which are scribed the words of a song. She accompanies the young man in a soft feminine voice (Perform=17).
You are the promised kiss of spring-time, that makes the lonely winter seem long. You are the breathless hush of evening, that trembles on the brink of a lovely song. You are the angel glow that lights a star, The dearest things I know are what you are.
Some day my happy arms will hold you, and some day I'll know that moment divine. When all things you are, are mine.
Mira glances once in Evan's direction, but when she looks a second time, the ranger is gone. Off after the rogues, no doubt!
Conner Sunday August 22nd, 2004 7:21:23 PM
Conner sighs. All this lovey-dovey stuff is wearing thin. Where is the thrill of adventure? The fighter looks at Kadaz, then smirks. The dwarf looks like he feels just as uncomfortable as Conner does.
Wilfire Ironhouse Sunday August 22nd, 2004 10:23:51 PM
Wilfire rolls his eyes and looks at Conner. Meanwhile he continues to tap his fingers against his side, growing increasingly impatient with every passing moment.
DM Kathy Monday August 23rd, 2004 1:16:15 AM
Arm's performance is very good, and Mira's is good enough not to detract from it. Jarvis, however, tries very hard and sounds utterly awful. He has trouble reading the words off the paper and keeping the rhythm at the same time, even with the musicians going out of their way to match his pace. All in all, it is an awful performance.
Sarla raises a haughty eyebrow in appreciation of Arm's skill, but during the main performance she exhibits the same type of ill-concealed impatience as Conner and Wilfire. When Jarvis at last stumbles to a halt and looks hopefully at her, she sighs.
"Jarvis," she says wearily, "for the hundredth time, you are not in love with me. And I am certainly not in love with you. Go away."
"Oh," says Jarvis, crestfallen. "Oh, I see. Yes. Right."
Sarla looks around at the rest of the group. "Josef said you had something important for me?" Her expression turns menacing. "I sincerely hope this wasn't it."
Arm Monday August 23rd, 2004 5:47:00 AM
Totally exasperated and impatient as well to move on, Arm looks to Mira for help in convincing Sarla that the group needs to speak with her. If they cannot achieve success this time, he is seriously considering abandoning this mission altogether.
Mira d20=4 Monday August 23rd, 2004 7:08:44 AM
All pretense gone, Mira locates the tag-along, Devryn. Grabbing the fellow by the shirt (Touch Attack=4) sleeve she attempts to pull him to the front of the group. She looks at some of the stronger members, imploring them with her eyes to help her should Devryn put up a struggle. "Okay. Now's your chance to explain yourself," she says to the rogue.
Kadaz d20+5=24 Monday August 23rd, 2004 5:23:00 PM
Kadaz exchanges knowing glances with Conner. By Domni's knees, I can sing better than that, he thinks. Kadaz looks down where Birdie has hidden his head under a covered table, trying to lessen the noise. Wish I could do that. Kadaz stoically endures the singing.
When Mira moves towards Devryn and ineffecually tries to move him up, Kadaz comes up and gives Devryn a little nudge (touch attack 24). "You're on" he whispers very softly.
Conner Monday August 23rd, 2004 9:57:50 PM
Conner waits for the newcomer to state his case. The fighter anticipates a cool reaction and readies himself to step between Sarla and any of the more hot-headed in the group if necessary.
Uriel d20+3=22 Monday August 23rd, 2004 11:52:58 PM
Uriel steps forward next to Mira, speaking politely to Sarla, "Lady, that was not at all the main purpose of our visit. Forgive my companions, some of them are shy," he looks towards Devryn.
"It appears that during your father's heyday, He acquired a magic trinket that this man's village realized later was very important to them. The village is willing to discuss this rationally." Another look toward Devryn. {Diplomacy:22}
DM Kathy Tuesday August 24th, 2004 1:16:54 AM
Pulled to the forefront, Devryn opens his mouth as if to plead his case, but Uriel gets there first. "We will discuss it," he says grudgingly, "but the item is rightfully ours and I will not leave without it."
Sarla frowns. "You were here before, weren't you?" she says to Devryn. "Something about the weather globe." She looks at Uriel. "My grandfather bought the globe from the villagers. The story of how he came to buy it is in one of his journals--I remember reading it as a girl. I'm afraid this gentleman has no claim on it," she concludes cooly.
Right about that time, Evan notices someone coming up the road toward the estate.
Arm d20+2=14 d20+2=13 Tuesday August 24th, 2004 5:46:13 AM
While the explanation continues, Arm looks around, lost in his own thoughts. If he sees the figure approaching (spot=14), he attempts to see if he recognizes him/her (spot=13).
Evan d20+5=21 d20+7=19 Tuesday August 24th, 2004 5:59:33 AM
While Sarla may not have enjoyed the song performed for her by Jarvis, Evan, having a fertile imagination, has no trouble imaging that Mira might be singing the song to him. He finds her singing voice even more lovely than her speaking voice. Unfortunately, with his attentions on the two rogues, he is not able to properly show his appreciation for the wonderful song.
Something down the road catches Evan's attention. Evan gives a very soft whistle, just enough to gain Conner's and Kadaz's attention. He nods towards the person coming up the road towards the estate, then begins to slowly move , trying to place himself at a point where he might be able to be hidden from the appraoch by anyone on the road, while also not alerting anyone else of the approach of another party. His hands drop to his weapons but he does not draw them yet.
(hide-21, move silent-19)
Conner d20-2=13 Tuesday August 24th, 2004 7:56:32 AM
Not prone to long winded speeches or fancy words, Connor suddenly finds his tongue and says. "Look, ma'am. This lad lays a claim to the device you call a weather globe. We have been sent to make enquiries of your estate as well. We may be the first, but you can be assured there will be others. Produce the trinket and your proofs of ownership."
(Diplomacy=13)
Mira d20+5=20 d20+3=5 Tuesday August 24th, 2004 8:03:36 AM
The green eyed sorcerer continues Conner's train of thought. (Aid another, Diplomacy=20) "If your claim to the the land, and to this artifact are legitimate, you have nothing to fear and everything to gain. We will bear witness to it's authenticity and make the information public."
Mira brings her hand up to shield her eyes as she looks at the approaching figure. She squints in an effort to discern who it might be, but is unable to do so (Search-5).
"See!" she exclaims, "even as we speak someone comes."
Kadaz d20+1=2 Tuesday August 24th, 2004 6:35:29 PM
Kadaz shifts his weight back and forth trying to bring some sensation back to his leg which has gone to sleep. He glances in the direction Evan indicates but sees nothing there. (spot roll 2, natural 1)
DM Kathy Wednesday August 25th, 2004 2:28:52 AM
"My claim to the estate!" Sarla repeats indignantly. She turns to Devryn with a sneer. "Is your village laying claim to Wycklea as well? Does your impudence know no limits?"
The figure on the road is now close enough to recognize as Avandri.
She approaches the gatehouse with a radiant smile. "Oh! You're all here!" she says, delighted. "I have such good news; I couldn't wait to tell you. I came out in hopes of finding you--" she breaks off, looking at her cousing. "Hello, Sarla," she says shyly. "It-it's good to see you again."
"What are you doing here?" Sarla snaps. "Am I to have no peace?"
"I found it!" Avandri cries, pulling out an old piece of parchment. "I found Grandfather's will." Eagerly, she turns to all of you. "I located his man of affairs at last, and look! Here it is! Proof that Wycklea belongs to me."
Sarla shakes her head. "I don't know where you obtained that forgery," she sneers, "but I want you off my property at once!"
Wilfire Ironhouse Wednesday August 25th, 2004 5:17:52 AM
Wilfire has seen and heard enough from this Sarla woman.
He stands up and moves beside Avandri and takes a quick look at the will. "I don't think anybody should go anywhere until we get the the bottom of this" he says as he moves himself almost between the Sarla and Avandri.
Evan d20+2=14 Wednesday August 25th, 2004 5:43:45 AM
Evan relaxes once he sees it is Avandri, although her claim to have the real will immediately raises tensions even higher. He shifts his position so that he is now standing between Sarla and the manor. Then he studies the expressions of the gatekeeper to try and determine where he stands with these claims. (sense motive-14)
Arm d20+7=24 Wednesday August 25th, 2004 5:50:14 AM
Arm, seeing that Avandri is here, and that hopefully this will finally come to a conclusion, says in his best voice to Sarla, "My dear lady...it is not this gentleman who lays claim to your estate, but rather Ms. Avandri here. We stumbled across this gentleman & his companion purely by chance, and he stated that you possess something that rightfully belongs to his town. There is much in dispute here, and we'd like to help iron everything out. Your assistance would be much appreciated, and all we ask is that you hear us and these people out before you send us on our way.".
Arm Wednesday August 25th, 2004 5:51:28 AM
OOC: Sorry, forgot the new lvl bonus...(diplomacy=24+1...25) :)
Kadaz d20+1=16 Wednesday August 25th, 2004 7:02:27 AM
Kadaz aalso moves towards Avandri. "Miss, may I look at that?" If allowed he will carefully examine the document to see if anything seems amiss. (spot roll 16)
Shadow Wednesday August 25th, 2004 9:36:24 AM
Shadow still hanging in the back tries to understand what is going on between the two women (Avandri and Sarla).
Past post: Shadow would agree with most of the group that the performance was terrible, and he would have winced whenever this Jarvis hit foul notes.
OOC: Sorry about the silence.
Mira d20+2=15 Wednesday August 25th, 2004 7:33:17 PM This should get interesting! thinks Mira as she takes a step back to watch the confrontation. She wonders how the sneering woman could have engendered such trust in her servants. She also watches the gate-keeper to gauge his response to Avendri. (Sense Motive=15)
Conner Wednesday August 25th, 2004 7:37:24 PM
The fighter senses trouble brewing. When the woman turns towards Devryn, he positions himself in such a way as to be opposite the silent ranger with the woman between them.
Uriel d20+4=9 Wednesday August 25th, 2004 10:53:54 PM
Having tried diplomacy, Uriel will hold his tongue while he waits to see what the two women will do. He looks around to see if either women have some guards waiting in the wings... {Spot:9}
DM Kathy Thursday August 26th, 2004 2:51:41 AM
Wilfire steps between the cousins, while Arm does his best at diplomacy. Shadow and Conner take up watchful positions, and Uriel looks around to see if anybody brought reinforcements (he doesn't see anything).
Kadaz asks to see the will, and Avandri seems to hesitate.
"I have heard all of this before," Sarla replies to Arm, "and I find it no more convincing now than I did the first time." She sighs, swayed despite herself by Arm's persuasiveness. "I suppose, though, that some sort of arrangement can be worked out with this gentleman. I'm prepared to be reasonable if he is." Her voice hardens. "As for my cousin..." she trails off menacingly.
"Now, Miss Avandri," Josef says, "what do you think you're playing at? Everyone knows you were the one disinherited."
"Oh, Josef!" Tears shine in Avandri's eyes. "Not you, too! Never say she's gotten you to believe her lies. Look!" she hands the parchment to Kadaz. "Grandfather's will."
Kadaz examines the paper, which seems authentic enough at first glance. Meanwhile, Evan and Mira each reach the conclusion that Josef is sincere in his believe that he is working for the rightful heir of Wycklea.
"They're not lies," Josef says firmly, "and I'm sorry to say it, Miss, but it's very like you to try to persuade me that I don't know night from day. But it won't work anymore--not on me."
"He's right, you know," Jarvis puts in unexpectedly. "Avandri got too wild for the old man's taste and was cut off without a copper. Everyone in the neighborhood knows it. You were, you know," he adds when Avandri turns to him. "Frightfully sorry and all that."
Arm Thursday August 26th, 2004 5:49:00 AM
After Jarvis' statement, Arm is at a total loss on how to proceed...it seems that they have made at least SOME inroads with Devryn's plight, but now it's possible that all of their efforts regarding Avandri have been for naught...she could very well be deceiving his party by brandishing an old copy of the will that still has her included in it. For the moment, he will remain silent to see how this recent turn of events turns out.
Evan d20+7=16 Thursday August 26th, 2004 5:51:41 AM
Evan gives a silent sigh of regret that they have been brought into what appears to be a sham claim. He glances towards Mira, wondering if there is some way for her to tell if the will is authentic. He glances over Kadaz's shoulder at the parchment, not so much looking at the words but rather examining the condition of the paper and the ink in an attempt to determine how old the parchement might be and how faded the ink might be as an indication of age. He signs to Mira to ask when the grandfather might have written the will. (spot-16)
Shadow Thursday August 26th, 2004 10:13:54 AM
Shadow looks on with a very confused look on his face, he is trying to determine just what is really going on here. He has some pieces of the puzzle, but is not sure of what the whole picture will look like.
Kadaz d20+1=16 Thursday August 26th, 2004 1:23:12 PM
Kadaz is becoming more convinced that Avandri hasn't been entirely truthful with them. Saarla's reactions to the group's intrusive behavior are understandable. Her willingness to discuss proper ownership of the weather item is to her credit. And her sneering attitude towards Avandri is understandable if the two have a contentious past. And Joseph and Jarvis seem to support Saarla.
But wait, each of them said the same thing....
"Joseph and Jarvis, excuse me. You both said that 'Everyone knows' that Avandri was wild and disinherited. Do either of you know personally this? Or were you told by someone else?"
As Kadaz asks this question he watches Saarla very carefuly to see her reaction. (sense motive 16)
Mira d20+2=19 Thursday August 26th, 2004 7:31:34 PM
Mira keeps her own counsel but listens carefully as each of the claimants state their position. (Sense Motive=19)
Conner d20+1=4 Thursday August 26th, 2004 8:17:39 PM
Conner stands his ground between Sarla and the others. Who to believe? wonders the fighter. Everyone seems so convincing... [sense motive=4].
Wilfire Ironhouse d20=11 Thursday August 26th, 2004 8:55:35 PM
Wilfire eyes each person suspiciously. 'What are their motives', he thinks to himself.
(OOc- sense motive check 11)
DM Kathy Friday August 27th, 2004 2:07:30 AM
Evan takes a quick peek at the will. It certainly seems to be the right age, but he doesn't have time to examine it minutely.
"Well," Josef replies to Kadaz, looking somewhat chagrinned. "Well, it's no secret, I suppose, that there's gossip in the servant's halls. And servants see a great deal of what goes on in a house--more, I think, than the lords and ladies realize. I've heard stories from maids and page boys of Avandri's arguments with her grandfather. I heard one such argument myself, when she and the old lord were walking on the grounds. She wanted a greater allowance, 'funds that befitted her station' I think is what she said, and Lord Daval was trying to caution her against frivolous spending, and taking her to task for pledging monies she could not afford to pay." Josef frowns at Avandri. "He never had to have such a conversation with Miss Sarla--excuse me, Lady Sarla--that I've ever heard tell of."
"Avandri was always quite the good sport," Jarvis puts in. "Cut quite a dash with the sharp set, you know. But her grandfather didn't like it, and was always complaining that the estate couldn't afford it."
"So I wasn't surprised to hear that he changed his will to favor Lady Sarla," Josef concludes.
"No. Nor was I," Jarvis agrees. "Nor was anyone really." The meaning of the conversation seems to dawn on him. "I say, do you mean to tell me that--Avandri, are you trying to steal Wycklea? Bad form, old girl."
"I'm not trying to steal anything," Avandri protests. "Wycklea is mine. Grandfather left it to me. Please, you have to believe me!" She looks at you with tears in her eyes.
Conner and Wilfire have a hard time telling whom to believe. Kadaz and Mira tend to find that Jarvis and Josef are pretty believable, and that Avandri's virtuous act is wearing a bit thin.
Evan Friday August 27th, 2004 5:48:22 AM
Evan signs to Mira and Uriel to translate for him. The solution seems simple although a bit costly. Would both women be willing to submit to magics that would determine the truth? I believe the Priests have magic that can determine if someone lies or tells the truth. I would think it would be in the best interest of the estate to purchase a spell casting to learn the truth in this matter.
Arm Friday August 27th, 2004 5:57:48 AM
More than ever, Arm is convinced that Avandri is at fault here, and that they have been working for the wrong side. Seeing Evan signing to Mira, he waits to see what those results are before voicing an opinion.
Uriel Friday August 27th, 2004 9:01:43 AM
Uriel translates Evans statements for the benefit of others, shaking his head in the affirmative. "You realize however, that some priests find such a thing to be an invasion of privacy," Uriel says to no one in particular.
He continues, "Avandri, could you not give us the name of the lawyer you found that had the will? That would also help us in believing your claim."
Shadow Sunday August 29th, 2004 10:19:59 AM
Shadow will continue not to add his thoughts into the mix because he is still very confused by this whole she said she said affair. If given the chance however, as the group really starts getting into the argument, appears he will sneak off to try and find the globe.
OOC: Sorry, but I will be out of town Monday through Thursday, and unsure of internet connection so this will probably be my last post until late Thursday (or early Friday). I am not sure how this works in the Wold, but let me know. Thanks.
Kadaz Sunday August 29th, 2004 11:58:58 AM
Kadaz is almost convinced that they have been played by Avandri. But there is one loose end. Who attacked them in Plateau City? Kadaz had assumed that someone was watching Avandri and the attack was a warning not to get involved. But if Avandri is in the wrong, who set those thugs on them? There is still something to figure out here.
Conner d20+1=6 Sunday August 29th, 2004 5:37:34 PM
The fighter is now thoroughly confused. Sarla seems quite genuine, but so does Avandri. If the fool Jarvis is anything other than he seems then he is hiding it well. Even the newcomer seems to have a rightful claim. Conner tries to dispel the conflicting thoughts from his mind and focuses on the gatekeeper Josef's story [Sense Motive=6]
Mira Sunday August 29th, 2004 6:33:09 PM
Mira nudges Uriel and once she has his attention uses sign language, in order to keep her question secret.
If you can read sign language Highlight to display spoiler: {"Don't you have a special aptitude for sensing how an individual aligns him or herself? Could you perhaps try to discern if any of the claimants are blackhearted?"}
Uriel Sunday August 29th, 2004 7:49:40 PM
Uriel signs back, Yes, I do. When we first met Avandri, I tried it on her without getting a reading. I can try it on Sarla also, although it will not prove which one has the legitimate claim to the estate.
Uriel calls upon Domi's senses to detect evil from the group of people before them.
DM Kathy Monday August 30th, 2004 12:17:10 AM
With an elegant gesture, Avandri lifts the soft cloth hood from her dark hair and lets it hang down her back. She clasps her hands pleadingly in front of her. "Sir Paladin, I beg you to believe me. My claim is legitimate. This will I obtained from Galiken, Grandfather's man of affairs--"
"That's a lie!" Sarla interrupts harshly.
"Oh, Sarla," Avandri says sadly. "Can you not try to put our differences aside? This is what Grandfather wanted."
As the conversation continues, both Shadow and Devryn drift gradually away from the group, looking for their opportunity to investigate the estate.
Meanwhile, Uriel tries to detect evil, but detects none in either cousin.
[Spot and/or Listen checks, please. :) ]
Uriel d20+4=23 d20+4=19 Monday August 30th, 2004 12:43:28 AM
Uriel signs, nothing on either of them to Mira.
He then takes another look around {Spot:23 Listen:19}
Wilfire Ironhouse d20=1 Monday August 30th, 2004 3:55:50 AM
Wishing he knew how to cast spells that detect lies, Wilfire stands in between the two women.
"Perhaps we should find a priest that can tell truth from fib. Would you both be willing to participate in such an invesigation?"
OOC- paying careful attention to how they answer, but the wax build-up in his ears makes it difficult. (sense motive 1)
Evan d20+7=8 d20+7=15 Monday August 30th, 2004 5:42:16 AM
(listen-8, spot-15)
Its fairly obvious to Evan that the cousins will not be able to work this out between them. His suggestion still lay out there. Perhaps there are some priests that would consider using magic an invasion of privacy, but if both cousins agree to the casting, there should be no harm and Plateau City is certainly large enough that finding a Preist to accomidate them should not be too difficult. And as he mentioned before, the estate should bear the cost of the casting as it is being used to determine the true ownership of the estate.
Arm Monday August 30th, 2004 5:52:57 AM
Resolutely, Arm says, "Well, I suppose we should seek out this Galiken in order to get HIS take on things.". After a moment's thought he continues, "Even this could be no avail though, if another will was drawn up after he received this one, as I believe that the most recent one takes precedence. Lady Sarla, do YOU by some chance have a copy of the will?".
Kadaz d20+5=18 Monday August 30th, 2004 12:26:17 PM
Kadaz is watching carefully the interplay between Avandri and Sarla as well as Jarvis and Joseph. He is not paying attention to what is happening elsewhere.
Birdie, on the other hand, is bored with this talking and is looking around for something to chase (spot 18).
Conner d20+3=15 d20+2=15 Monday August 30th, 2004 8:23:16 PM
The fighter remains vigilant as he watches over the family dispute and ponders the ugliness of inheritence, something he will surely never experience first hand. (Spot=15, Listen=15).
Mira d20+2=13 d20+2=19 Monday August 30th, 2004 8:28:42 PM
Mira pauses for a moment during the discussion to take in the view of the estate (Spot=13) ending with a study of each of the participants in the debate. She leans her head to one side, as she thinks she hears something.(Listen=19)
DM Kathy Monday August 30th, 2004 11:36:52 PM
Arm and Wilfire continue to try to resolve the situation, but it now becomes clear that Avandri was only stalling. A group of armed people wearing scale mail appears from the bushes where they'd been concealed.
Avandri folds her arms and addresses her cousin. "Very well," she says harshly. "If I cannot make you see reason, I shall take what is mine by force!"
The hirelings begin to advance on the gate.
Uriel, Evan, Conner, Mira, and Birdie saw or heard something as the group began to move, and can take an action during this next surprise round. The others are caught off guard.
Map is en route. :)
Wilfire Ironhouse Tuesday August 31st, 2004 12:02:26 AM
'This women is full of...' Wilfire thinks to himself as he stands there, completely unaware of those approaching from the bushes.
Evan (ac 16, hp 12) Tuesday August 31st, 2004 5:32:33 AM
Evan quickly palms a throwing ax in his left hand while stepping past Birdie to grab the nearest gate. He tugs the gate closed forcing the attackers to either stop to reopen the gate or bunch up to pass through the remaining open gate. (How tall is the fence and gate?)
Arm Tuesday August 31st, 2004 6:01:56 AM
Despite his previous suspicions, Arm is taken aback by the harsh tone of Avandri's voice as well as her words. He is unaware at the moment of the advancing group.
Kadaz Tuesday August 31st, 2004 6:53:24 AM
Birdie looks up and notices armed strangers advancing. He begins barking and dancing around Kadaz's feet like the good guard dog he is. Kadaz starts to shush the dog but glances up to see what is going on. He is taken aback by the oncoming line of warriors and stares at them in slackjaw surprise.
Conner [AC=20, HP 20 d20+7=16 d8+3=10 Tuesday August 31st, 2004 7:30:36 PM
Conner swings his shield around to the front and grips it firmly, it's spikes menacing the approaching warriors. His longsword in hand, he readies to strike the first combatant through the gate [Hit AC 16 for 10 hp]. "Hit them hard" he snarls.
Mira (AC13, 16 HP) Tuesday August 31st, 2004 8:57:29 PM
Mira retreats a step ending up between Saarla and Jarvis. She reviews the spells she has learned in an effort to select the best one for use in this situation. The tension is palpable and the sorcerer is nervous.
