The Other Side. (DM Jim) Wednesday August 25th, 2004 11:26:49 PM
Those that chose to go right away find themselves in a deadend alleyway that leads out onto the streets. It is busy ahead with many people passing by, but most evident is the body of a centaur blocking the alleyway. The alleyway is only big enough for you to advance one by one.
Those that stayed on the otherside for a few will notice that the redness of the high woldian letters is starting to fade and the portal shimmer. You also notice that the letters seem to change places on the portal as if rewriting the code for its use.
[Dominic - This is your chance to make a big splash with the group. Have fun.]
Brahmah d20+4=21 Thursday August 26th, 2004 1:18:33 AM
Brahmah steps forward and attempts to determine whether this taur is waiting or just someone who watched the Chosen enter.
(Sense Motive versus centaurs, 21)
Leets Thursday August 26th, 2004 2:07:29 AM
"Last time I used a portal, it was to face Marteaus' legions...I hope we'll be welcome this time..."
"Come on Managarm! Let's go!"
Leets jumps through the gate...
...Once on the other side, just after Brahmah, he keeps ready for an ambush, and when they both see the Centaur blocking the way, the paladin tries to detect evil in the soul of the new one.
Gecktar Thursday August 26th, 2004 2:39:43 AM
Now he is certain that everybody will cross the gate, Gecktar jump through.
Arriving on the other side, Gecktar is surprised that the other end of the portal leads to a place not isolated...
This makes him think about stories of cities on other planes that are focus of many gates.
Toros d20=13 Thursday August 26th, 2004 3:21:19 AM
Toros will move to the other side, stepping forward with his right foot, which comes from an old belief for good luck. He will try to make sense of what is going on around and be a bit wiser than his usual (wisdom check, 13+2=15)
Strange Centaur.... Thursday August 26th, 2004 3:47:27 AM
Standing just a head of you blocking the alley is a centaur with a dark grey coat that has black splotches on his hind quarters. You see wht you think is a chain of some sort on his right side. With surprise and a little shock on his face he is looking from the mothers and children to the others that have just come through the portal.
After a few moments of silence he says hesitantly in tauric "You are the ones known as the Chosen." A couple of moments later with a more confidant voice he says "My name is Solgrin , I had been informed that there was more of you coming."
Flat-top Thursday August 26th, 2004 5:34:00 AM
Flat-top has not taken the trip very well, his stumack is up set. As the others enter this ally Flat-top has his head in a trash can, hurling up his apples (Remember he had eaten Two apples). When Brahmah bumps into him, them Leets and his dog Managran, followed by Gecktar, Not to be left out Toros.
With his hind end to the opening of the alley, Flat-top hears a voice?? he takes his head out of the trash can and wips his face with his sleves, turn to the voice, greets him with the only thing he can think of "Hello There! I'll be with you in a minute."
Paw'caw Thursday August 26th, 2004 5:48:00 AM
Paw'caw flies through the Gate and lands on Brahmah's shoulder. Then the Golden Eagle watches the new centaur with her eagle eyes, waiting for a command from her master.
Zeoll Thursday August 26th, 2004 2:07:58 PM
Zeoll steps carefully through and blinks as he takes in the urban setting. He hears the centaur's words and answers in the same language (Tauric? Common?), "Hail Solgrrin and well met. I am Zeoll. We are ten adult Taurs and two children. How many did you expect? And how did yu know we were coming?"
Zeoll is a male liontaur, dressed in leather armor and carrying a greatsword. The beads and feathers braided in his mane reveal his classes (bard and druid), his pride, and clan.
Kanchana Thursday August 26th, 2004 3:33:17 PM
Kanchana entered the portal not too long after Flat-top. When she exits the portal she hurriedly steps away from it and nimbly steps around Flat-top. The flashing red symbols had her worried, but it seems to have gone well.
The wemic druidess studies Solgrin and finds herself silently chuckling at Father Tomi's mysterious ways. She wonders what he will think of the cubs.
"Are we all here? Is everyone alright?" Kanchana asks as she looks around to see if anyone is missing.
Flat-top Thursday August 26th, 2004 5:46:09 PM
"Ahh! I feel better, Where's Kale??" Flat-top wonders?? He trots out of the alley and he advances to meet this strange Centaur.
Flat-top pull himself up to full hight of 8'6"he is a piebald in color with dark skin with White hair, mane and tail. His striking features are his ice-blue eyes, he wear Chain mail +1, through the shirt you can see two Tattoos (one on each shoulders, a Morningstar +2 hangs around his neck (ready for a fight), but on his frount hooves there are hooves knouckels (and they come to a point OUCH!). On Flat-tops back is a large shield, under that shield are a Bow, and a sword. His personal things are in a couple of saddle bags on his back.
Flat-top sort of trot around this Taur, giving him the once over. Flat-top extends his hand, they grab each others arm in a Centaur greeting, "Greeting I'm called flat-top, Also a fighter in this group. Can you tell me where we are?? And how come you knew we were The Chosen of Domi?? We just got through Killing four Red Dragons, I didn't think that news got around this quickly??"
A Chance Meeting. (DM Jim) Thursday August 26th, 2004 8:13:44 PM
The group exchange pleasantries with the centaur as the portal closes behind them. The passerbys stare at the group as they stand around near the alleyway, but they soon pass on thier way. Most of what you see are humans with a slight mix of dwarves, elves and halflings.
The buildings are all of medium sized style as far as you can see from the outside and you suddenly realize that it will be hard to find anything here to your size.
[Solgrin - You know of the new location of the orphanage if it is asked for by anyone in the group. You will have also had a dream, as you mentioned in your background, of The Chosen. You would have also seen the children in it as well with a sense of mystery about them and a need to protect them at all costs. If asked you also know that the old orphanage was burned to the ground by an unknown group, but that a man named Gordo has taken up as headmaster of the new one.]
Brahmah Thursday August 26th, 2004 8:49:28 PM
"Well met Solgrin. Has Domi left you a message for us? Do you know where we're supposed to go?"
Kale Thursday August 26th, 2004 9:18:12 PM
Kale doesnt say a word to the new centaur. If anyone looks at Kale carefully you can see that he's gripping his shortsword tightly and looks like he's ready to pounce on the newcomer
Toros Thursday August 26th, 2004 10:30:23 PM
Hello Solgrin, this is Toros, a barbarian, who get the chance to learn a little bit about the inspiring art of bardic music and blessing spirituality of Woldian clergy. It is nice to have a welcoming one like you in a place like this. Here does not seem to be very well fitting to a Taur-style life. How did you find your own self to be here, perhaps you may like to tell more about this on our way, if we know where we are going?
Gecktar Friday August 27th, 2004 2:40:50 AM
"Well met Solgrin. My name is Gecktar and I'm a devoted cleric of Domi. One who follow the true faith. I don't know why but I'm not surprised to see you here. Domi watch on us, I'm sure, and he want us to be able to face any dangers. Are you here to join our group ?"
Gecktar is a powerful Minautor standing 7'10" high. He is clad in a full chain armor with a metal shield. He seems that he as some figthing capabilities as well, and bear many symbols of Domi on his shield, around is neck and if you watch carefuly on the mighty warhammer hanging on his side.
After introducing himself to the taur, he watch around to see what direction to take.
"Well friends, now has anybody an idea about how can we find the woman we see in our dreams ?"
Solgrin Friday August 27th, 2004 4:21:54 PM
Looking up at Flat-top to look him in the eyes Solgrin says "You are in the Floating City. I was shown images of each of you in a dream by a kindly old taur that called you his Chosen. I had no idea of the red dragons, how did you survive? What brings you to the Floating city?"
Looking at Brahmah, Solgrin says "I was given the feeling that I was to join you and use my arcane abilities to help with protecting the children."
Noding to Toros, Solgrin tells him "I came to the Floating City serveral years ago to continue my apprentiship as a wizard. My first teacher brought me here to finish my apprentiship with a friend of hers and since then I have not been back to where I was born on centaur isle."
"Follow me and I will show you to a place where we can continue to talk in private." Solgrin tells everyone.
Solgrin will turn and start to walk to his teachers (Randrac) home. As he is walking Solgrin will make sure his pace is so that the children and the other Chosen of Domi can follow with out getting lost.
Kanchana d20+5=18 Friday August 27th, 2004 5:09:04 PM
Kanchana sees the move that Kale has made towards his weapon, and sees that he is making ready to "hunt". Remembering the suspicions he had towards herself when she first came across the Chosen she wisely places herself between Solgrin and Kale.
If Kale tries to pass her she will move to whichever side is necessary to block Kale from coming close to Solgrin. This will include "squashing" the Minotaur rogue against walls if necessary.
The druidess wants to fully give Solgrin a chance to prove himself.
Kanchana does her best to take note of the buildings while always keeping an eye on Kale. She takes an instant dislike to the city with its cramped, 'claustrophobic' buildings.
If Kale goes invisible at any time Kanchana will loudly warn Solgrin that the 'a-social' rogue is invisible and to be wary. If she thought that Kale would be a danger to the cubs then she would warn their mothers likewise.
Unfortunately Kanchana never really got to know Kale from before he left and she only really remembers his clear dislike and 'bad attitude' towards her; thus she can never bring herself to fully trust that his motives are "good".
(Spot 18)
Zeoll Friday August 27th, 2004 5:55:09 PM
Zeoll begns to realize that he is in an actual "city" -- the very first he has ever been in. Are the streets cobbled? Just full of dirt and filth? Is this a tawdry ugly city or a more beautiful one?
"All this stone!" he marvels. "Even in the afterrlife it was not like this!"
He follows the new centaur, gawking as he goes.
Flat-top Friday August 27th, 2004 7:55:44 PM
Flat-top sputters, cough acouple of times, But in a low voice "The Mother Red was intruding on the Gold's space, to take the children and their mothers to a safe place. We had to evick the Mother Red Dragon and the four hatchlings, those Red Wyrms almost killed us, to the point of having to kill them. We were bracing to take on the mother when the Gold Dragon engaged the Red Dragon, they fought to the end, They both Died. We will miss him, the children will miss him also. He left direction to come here to save the children.
You say that this is Floating City? I though that the City was a mith? But it's so cramp, how are the children going to run and Play??"
Flat-top will follow with the children and the mothers.
Paw'caw(ceil) Friday August 27th, 2004 7:59:13 PM
Paw'caw rubs her head against Brahmah's cheek, She wants to fly But affraid to leave him.
Managram(ceil) Friday August 27th, 2004 8:06:46 PM
Managram is so happy to be with Leets again, that he marks the teritory as he follows the party.
Ilder(ceil) Friday August 27th, 2004 8:12:19 PM
Ilder stick his head out of the pouch and cherps, takes a good look around. There's not a tree around, just brick building and stone streets. He yelps, then dives down into the pouch again (shivering).
A Place for Quiet Talk. (DM Jim) Friday August 27th, 2004 9:46:19 PM
Most of the group follow along with Solgrin as he makes his way back to his masters house. The cobbles streets leave most of the group making clopping noises as they travel and the children have fun with this.
Buildings of all sizes loom up around the city and most of you find it stifling. Still the streets are wide and easy to navigate. Solgrin soon has you at his master's house and put up in a comfy room that is made for taurs it would seem. You talk for quite awhile and you find that the master is away on business in another part of the city.
Later that night as the group sleep in a large room of the master's house they all have a dream of a man standing outside of a building. Though this is all strange to most of you, Solgrin knows of this new building and that it is an orphanage. On the front of the building is a glowing symbol of Domi's that marks the house as a safe haven for those in need.
[Solgrin - You know that the old orphanage was burned to the ground by someone and the headmistress killed. You also know the new headmaster, Gordo, and he is a good man that cares deeply for the children of the orphanage.]
Brahmah Saturday August 28th, 2004 12:14:27 AM
Brahmah goes happily along with their guide.
Flat-top Saturday August 28th, 2004 3:08:54 PM
Flat-top follows the party, But makes sure that the Children are Safe, it is hard to keep the little ones in line, after all they have been pen up in a cave for so long.
They arrive at what Solgrin said that it was his master's house and showed then a very nice room. the little one were very tired because they fell asleep as soon as they had eaten a meal. They were put to bed.
Flat-top was also tired from the trip and is the first time in months that he can really relax. He leans against the wall and falls to sleep, he dreams of a man, (Human he thinks how odd!) standing in frount of a building. The building has a symble of Domi. Now he knows that this is Domi's wishes, That is the way Domi works.
Zeoll Sunday August 29th, 2004 4:15:55 PM
Zeoll realizes that he has been on a knife's edge ever since he was brought back to life, without a moment of time for peace. "To finally rreach a safe place is verry rrefreshing," he tells their host.
He asks if this orphanage is the place for the mothers and children.
He wonders if this is a good time to pause and assess their winnings and finances. And maybe get some training.
Kanchana Sunday August 29th, 2004 6:32:26 PM
Kanchana is relieved to be a place where she doesn't feel like she has to belly-crawl to move around. She is not pleased to be in a city and within confining stone walls. There is so much to think about that she opts to listen to other talk rather than do any talking herself. Kanchana retires early for the evening. She has the same dream as everyone else. What she has seen in the dream does not really set her worries at ease. The human (?) man certainly didn't make things better; humans haven't proved to be very trust-worthy in general as far as she is concerned. The symbol od Domi marking as a safe haven only adds to her doubts, since the information from the dream doesn't seem concordant to her. Kanchana makes a point to question Solgrin about all this around breakfast time.
Kanchana will politely ask Solgrin if there is a garden (preferably) or a room where they may speak with some privacy. If he agrees to talk with her she will ask him if Father Tomi spoke with him last night. If he admits that He did then she will ask him if the house and the human (?) and the symbol of Tomi made sense to him. She will quietly admit that it has her confused. Kanchana will of course introduce herself to him first; including her vocation of course.
Solgrin Sunday August 29th, 2004 10:22:41 PM
Solgrin makes sure that all of the Chosen, mothers and children are sleeping before he will get some sleep.
Waking up the next morning Solgrin meets with the Chosen. "Did each of you sleep fine? Did you see a building in your dreams lastnight?" Solgrin asks the others. "The building in the dream is the new orphanage as the old one burned down mysteriously. The man is the new head of the orphanage."
Gecktar Monday August 30th, 2004 2:33:35 AM
Gecktar is satisfied to get some rest. Last day have been a long day, with the battle with the reds and the escape from their mother. Thinking about the fight of the two great dragons, Gecktar feels that their mission is above all very important for Domi. A golden dragon that gives his proper life to save them... And this small village called One. An interesting one if it is.
A the Chosen are in a quiet place, his thoughts wanders and after a while Gecktar fall asleep, exhausted...
He wakes up to see Solgrim taking care of them.
"Yes" Gecktars anwers, "I had a good night, the best since several days in fact."
And as Solgrim speak about the ubilding he has seen in his dreams, Gecktar remember well now, that he also made a dream of this building.
"Maybe it is the orphanage we are seeking. But, if I remember well, this was an old lady that we see taking care of the Children."
On these words, he goes in a quiet place and begin his daily prayers and memorize some new spells :
0- Create Water, Detect Magic, Light, Purify Food and Drink 1- Divine Favor, Magic Weapon(d), Detect Evil, Shield of Faith 2- Bull's Strength, Summon Monster II(d), Hold Person
Leets Monday August 30th, 2004 3:12:35 PM
Leets is worried by the dream when he wakes up...
"We didn't have much time to talk Solgrin since we met...I'm Leets Talric of the Talric tribe, son of Stallion Cyrus. I try to be a faithful follower of Domi and also a paladin..."
Leets is a young Centaur, not even 20 years old yet, with mid-long blond curled hairs and green eyes. His mane is white like his whole body, with blue-grey shades. He wears a blue tunic with a chainmail, and simply has a morningstar at his belt. He also carry a big backpack.
He's always folowed by a golden "german" sheperd who wants to play with him.
"I'm glad we have a new member among us, and I hope you'll find friendship among us as easily as I once found brothers-in-arms. However, I have to say I'm not surprised to see that Domi sent us an arcane specialist since we lacked your magical skills a lot!"
The Orphanage and Gordo. (DM Jim) Monday August 30th, 2004 6:12:09 PM
The group wakes up refreshed in the morning to find that Solgrin is up and getting something for the group to have for breakfast. He is not worried even though his master has not returned yet as he said he maybe gone for a week or more.
The group gets to know each other a lot better as they sit around talking and the like. Kanchana is able to pull Solgrin off into the inner garden that he shows her to, for a talk.
It appears to Zeoll that they know have a lot of time on their hands as they quest is coming to an end in Big Float. He ponders the loot and gains they have gotten with a slight itch to his hands.
Later, after lunch Solgrin leads the group to the new site of the orphans and this Gordo guy. You come to a large building though it is obviously new with a group of kids playing outside of it. They are all under the watchful eye of the human that you saw in your dreams. Though you see the face of the building that you saw in your dreams there is no Domi mark on it, but you know that was a sign from Domi himself that he approves of this place.
[Carl - You can make a post as soon as you want today. If you would rather wait for the group to initiate something then you could wait till tomorrow. Your choice.]
Brahmah Monday August 30th, 2004 8:57:43 PM
Brahmah moves quietly along, trying not to step on any humans. A dwarf nearly gets stepped on in Brahmah's avoidance of a human, and the dwarf is less than happy about it and makes verbal insult, but then quickly collects himself and apologizes. He moves on. Brahmah just simply watches the dwarf have a fit then leave just as quickly. "Quick tempered fellow. Wow."
Gecktar Tuesday August 31st, 2004 2:11:27 AM
Gecktar follows Solgrim in the streets of the city. "So, you know this orphanage Solgrim ? What about the man that is at the head of this institution ? Do you know anything about him ?"
Kale Tuesday August 31st, 2004 7:13:01 AM
not liking this city at all, Kale feels on edge as they travel to the building in his dream"I hate being manipulated." he mutters to himself
Toros Tuesday August 31st, 2004 8:26:48 AM
Last night Toros has slept in the wrong position and when he get up he was not really in a good situation. Still he tries to feel good and get accustomed to this new environment.
Toros-OOC Tuesday August 31st, 2004 8:31:17 AM
I also wonder about the XPs. Can it be possible that Toros has become 1 level up with the final adventure?
Flat-top Tuesday August 31st, 2004 9:15:00 AM
Flat-top is greatful for being beside Kale, "I wonder how they can live in such a cramp space. I'll have to see this safe place, Taurs need space to grow?"
After the night's rest (and the dream of course), Flat-top feel better, he has a full breackfast. He ask Solgrin if he could take a look at this place before the little one are to go there? Then He turn to the children asking them "If your done with breakfast, ask mommy real nice, We can have a game of Kick Ball??.
Flat-top stand there with a silly smile on his face.
Solgrin Tuesday August 31st, 2004 5:37:04 PM
Solgrin will talk with Kanchana about the dream that he had the night before. "I don't know who it is that I keep dreaming but he is a very kindly taur" Solgrin tells Kanchana.
Solgrin will tell the others as they head to the new orphanage "the old one burned down not long ago and the head mistress was killed. The replacement is run very well and the gentleman running it is good with the children and cares for them."
Solgrin tries to lead the chosen and the children to the orphanage quickly and tries to avoid the busyest routes.
Gordo Tuesday August 31st, 2004 5:38:54 PM
As the Taurs approach a big man is visible in the courtyard. Though his head is shaved bald, he has huge bushy red sideburns that join into a thick moustache. He is barrel-chested and thick of limb, his whole body covered in thick red curly hair. He wears an open leather waistcoat, a pair of dirty old tan pants held up with a broad leather belt and a pair of large hobnail boots that have seen better days. He is surrounded by a swarm of kids of various ages. The youngest cling to his knees as he strides about chatting away cheerfully to the chaotic and deafening maelstrom that seems to have gravitated towards him.
As the group grow closer a small girl sees them and shrieks, hiding behind his legs. "Gordo! Monshters!"
"Now you hush yer worrying, littlun'. Those aren't monsters, those are Taurs, lass, blessed of Domi himself! You younguns should be proud to have visitors like these. Did I ever tell you the story of how Domi made the Taurs? Quite a tale, I'll tell you it you all before bed tonight."
Gordo turns to the approaching party and grins cheerfully at the newcomers, beefy hands on his hips.
"Come to lend a hand, friends? Or is there something I can help you folk with? Lad, you take that out of your mouth right now 'afore I come down on you like a ton of bricks" he continues without losing the grin or turning his head. Behind him a sheepish looking boy extracts a 4 inch worm from his mouth and places it gingerly back on the ground.
Zeoll d20+6=8 Tuesday August 31st, 2004 7:12:42 PM
The liontaur takes a good look at the big -- seemingly almost Taur sized? -- human. Zeoll pauses for a moment, and then casts a Guidance cantrip to jog his memory. He thinks hard.
[OOC: Guidance used to aid Bardic Lore roll ... but he only rolls an 8.]
Zeoll shakes the idea that he might recognize this person. "Crazy idea," he thinks to himself Instead, he just bows and then speaks.
"Grreetings, good Gorrdo, if I hearrd yourr name correctly frrom yourr human girrl-cub. We arre indeed the Taurrs who have been Chosen by Domi." His accent is thick, perhaps due to his lack of facility with Common, or perhaps due to the big canine teeth you see set in his jaw.
"I am Zeoll, once student of Shaman Frrith, then warrior to Prride Nonowla that is lost, but still loyal to Clan Aene of Wemic." The beads and feathers braided in his mane reveal to those who can read them that Zeoll is both a druid and a bard.
He pauses to let each of the others introduce themselves.
Zeoll adds, "We have come herre seeking sanctuarry forr motherrs and childrren of ourr kind, the firrst of theirr herritage, and beloved of Domi. In sacrred drreams we werre told to come herre. Can you help us?"

2 small black round gems 2 small red star gems 185 platinum 145 gold 445 silver 77 copper 914 copper
Identifies
There are 11 potions in all. Kanchana has already tried to identify them via Spellcraft, with no luck. If anyone else has ranks in Spellcraft, please roll 11 times, trying to hit DC25. Any hits save us the cost of an Identify spell!
Speaking of which, do we have anyone in the group who can cast Identify? We can do it ourselves for 100 gp; the Catacombs charges 110. Also, does anyone have Detect Good/Evil or Detect Poison? Let's use those if we have them. And could we get casters to try to read the scrolls? Zeoll can't read, so that gets him out of that job, sorry.
Does anyone have Appraise ranks? Jim, could we get a gp value estimate on the non-magic stuff?
Brahmah Tuesday August 31st, 2004 9:25:42 PM
"Hello Gordo, I'm Brahmah!" That's all that seems to need saying.
Attention to Details. (DM Jim) Tuesday August 31st, 2004 9:54:49 PM
These posts from me right now will deal around the treasure for a time. Carl will be doing a lovely job of keeping you hopping as Gordo. Do try and be nice. :)
Appraise checks can be made as anyone sees fit. Just let me know what you will appraise and in what order. The same goes for the potions and anything else that you would like to attempt.
Kanchana Tuesday August 31st, 2004 11:13:00 PM
Kanchana does not approach either Gordo or the human children, She seems content to find a place to observe them all first at a distance. She isn't sure what the humans will make out of all of her small wooden talismans and such. A correct guess or a little imagination will correctly reveal that she is a druid; and maybe even reveal that she doesn't care for being in this confining city! Kanchana keeps an eye on both of the Taur cubs as well. The druidess would not be displeased if they began to play with the little human cubs; provided that the play goes well.
Kanchana has to bite her tongue not to tell the little boy that the worm is nourishing to eat ("it is protein") if he isn't being fed well enough. She stops herself from blurting it out in the nick of time!
((Kanchana has the Appraise skill Cayzle. If Solgrin can maybe cast Identify then it would be nice of course, but I am certain that he does not have any 100gp pearls to cast it with; those would have to come from the collective treasure I would suggest...))
Gecktar d20+4=7 d20+4=22 d20+4=23 d20+4=24 d20+4=5 d20+4=8 d20+4=18 d20+4=24 d20+4=16 d20+4=10 d20+4=23 Wednesday September 1st, 2004 2:39:19 AM
Gecktar looks around and tries to imbue himself with the serenity of the place. Indeed it seems to be a safe place for the children. If the director accept to take care of them, Gecktar is sure that this place will be the good one... For some time.
But there is one thing that deeply hurt him. This is what Solgrim says about the ancient orphanage. It had burned... Was it an accident or a deliberate action of some obscure persons.
Gecktar decides to talk to other Chosen when they will be in a quiter place.
"I'm glad to meet you Gordo. My name is Gecktar, follower of the true faith of Domi. As Zeoll says we are seeking for a haven of peace for the young. I feel we maybe have found it, but you must tell us what are you feelings."
(OOC : Gecktar has spellcraft but cannot beat the 25. But he can help someone giving him +2 if he succesfully roll vs DC 10 if I remember well. Also he can detect evil/good and read magic. Detect evil can be cast during this day the two other next day, because he must prepare the spells Help for spellcraft : only potion 1,5 and 6 will not receive the bonus)
Brahmah's description Wednesday September 1st, 2004 6:32:31 AM
Brahmah wears a heavily worn tunic, breeches, gauntlets and a very weather worn leather cloak. He has a feather once worn by a friend (now deceased), braided into his long black fur. Over his tunic, Brahmah wears a chain shirt emblazoned with Domi's holy symbol of strength, the hammer. A falchion hangs from one hip and a kukri hangs from the other. He's mid to late 60's, looking rather young under the scarring. With his weaponry and his dirty, musty clothes, it's likely Brahmah is a scout or ranger type. His tattoos seem to suggest he was at one point a sailor.
He is physically dominating and intimidating, not to mention rather ugly. He's brimming with muscles, covered with scars and has engraved horns. The engravings are those of sea life, nature and female minotaurs. The warrior is missing his tail and most of his left ear. But under the scruffy tough exterior, lies a soft teddy bear.
He has dark eyes, black fur, stands almost 8 feet tall and weighs nearly 800 pounds.
Flat-top Wednesday September 1st, 2004 7:11:33 AM
Flat-top look at this human, he know that this man has dreams about the Chosen of Domi, But the thing is that the Chosen's dream was a woman with the children. Something is not right.
But to the children first, the human children are thinking as the tauts are monsters. Flat-top get an idea, he takes his chainmail off with the rest of his weapons. Then goes over to Kanchana, giving her a little kiss on the tip of her nose, whispering to her "Kitten! would you please watch my things for me? While I give the human children a ride to calm their fears"
Flat-top trots over to Gordo, "Sir Gordo, My name is Flat-top, A former Royal Marine and now working for Domi. May I give these children a Centaur ride on my back? To ease their fears of our strange shape. I'll even give our little Unitaurs a ride first, if they are still afraid?"
Flat-top will wait for an answer. He stand erect like a former miletary Taur, he's what you would call a piebald hide (Black with white spots), He's dark-skinned, white hair/main/tail, he also has Ice-blue eyes, he also has two tatoos one on each shoulders. They are different from other tatoos, they look magical (I wonder what they are??). Now he is flexing his arm, just showing the boys what real mussels looks like.
Zeoll (Cayzle OOC) Wednesday September 1st, 2004 9:53:39 AM
Hey!
He has a feather once worn by a friend (now deceased), braided into his long black fur.
Isn't that my feather!? I'm not deceased any more! I thought Brahmah gave that back to me!
LOL!
Kale Wednesday September 1st, 2004 3:07:44 PM
looking at the little boy pull a worm out of his mouth, Kale gives a shutter and tells Flat-Top "Have you noticed that humans are really ugly? And why do they put vermin in their mouth? They are certainly a disgusting race."
(OOC, i have apprasial, but thats it. my use magic device skill is too low to even attempt)
Gordo Wednesday September 1st, 2004 4:34:49 PM
The children huddle behind Gordo, all wide eyes and gaping mouths.
Gordo himself grins up at the imposing group of Taurs. "Chosen of Domi, eh? Well that's quite something. Any who walk his path walk mine. You're welcome here, friends." A close look reveals a fist and anvil tattoo on his bicep, an unarmed variation of the more usual hammer and anvil symbol of Domi.
He spreads his brawny arms wide in greeting "So, welcome to Mama Fl... sorry, Gordo's Orphanage." As he speaks these words his cheerful demeanor slips, and you see a brief flash of deep sorrow, coupled with an angry scowl. Whether it is at himself for his slip or at some other party is impossible to say. The impact on the children is the most marked, however; there is a sudden group intake of breath, and more than one bottom lip begins to wobble. The big man recovers swiftly however, bustling into action.
"Right, who's first for a centaur ride? Line up behind William here, no pushing, no pushing I said Bub Scrotchit! Back of the queue with you! Hokey doke, up you go William, Sally, Rosko, Bert. Careful now! Hold on tight!" He nods at Flat Top in thanks.
Once the children are restored to their former happy chaos (the majority of them race after Flat Top yelling and screaming joyfully) he turns back to Zeoll.
"Lad, (the big man seems to show no discomfort in calling the gigantic Wemic "Lad" instead of a more formal greeting. In fact looking at him it's hard to imagine the man saying anything formal.) I hate to disappoint you, but this here's an orphanage. Bub Scrotchit you put Lizzie down! If I have to come over there you'll feel the wrath of Domi, my lad! You say these younguns of yours are here with their mothers? That don't make 'em orphans in my book. And even if their mothers happen to be orphans, they're a tad older than our usual intake. Then again, a sacred dream is a sacred dream... let's take a look at yer nippers."
Peering behind the ranks of the Taurs he finally spots the two Taur children and his eyes open wide in surprise. "Well now! Hoom! There's a thing! So, you two, Unitaurs, is that right?" He kneels so that his head is closer to their level. "Pleasure to meet you. What are your names then, younguns?"
Zeoll Wednesday September 1st, 2004 5:26:04 PM
Zeoll listens to the big human and cannot help but chuckle at his casual love of the children under his charge. He senses deep reservoirs in this person, and his suspicion is fading.
He watches Gordo make friends with the young taurs.
At a natural break, he continues. "Let me explain, good Gorrdo. We arre not seeking a perrmanent rrefuge. Ourr home was taken frrom us by forrce of crruel warr, and ourr quest is to rreturrn home, defeat ourr enemies, and rrestorre it. Then we will be able to safely brring ourr beloved childrren home. We arre only asking forr temporrarry sanctuarry forr these prrecious childrren and theirr motherrs. As you see, these childrren arre unique of theirr kind, and they arre morre prrecious to us than life. But Domi has told us that we can trrust this place as a haven, until we can take them home."
"I suppose that if this place is trruly only forr orrphans, that these childrren in need of prrotection must go elsewherre. But I cannot believe that one who honorrs Domi would turrn away weak innocents like these on a technicality!"
The liontaur smiles when he says that, since he is trying to tease Gordo a little.

"Good sir, I believe that we all have been having the same message to bring them here for safety. Living here in Floating City I have heard that you are a kind man and care greatly for the children. Please in Domi's name take them under your protection." Solgrin asks Gordo.

Brahmah Wednesday September 1st, 2004 6:43:30 PM OOC: He DID return the feather! Zeoll! ;)
Brahmah's eyes get very wide, setting down a little girl that had started climbing his leg. He looks at Kale and gets quite loud. "Kale, we're GUEST's here! Keep your opinions on this subject to yourself.... we need these people."
He turns back toward Zeoll and Gordo. "Actually, an orphanage might be the best hiding place for his Children." He then lowers his voice not wanting to upset the young children that are all around. "The Martean clergy and the Black Armored fellow expect that we're still milling about the Taur Isles, I'd assume. Fact is, being exiled might be the best thing for us and the Children."
Brahmah (additional) Wednesday September 1st, 2004 6:46:01 PM
"Now, I'm curious about this fire and attack?! What happened and when?" Brahmah seems very interested.
Kanchana Wednesday September 1st, 2004 8:43:37 PM
Kanchana simply, and casually, watches Gordo interact with the different children (including the taur children).
"I hardly think that someone who so obviously cares so much for cubs would let mere rules or customs get in the way of an opportunity to teach tolerance through experience. Also never mind the fact of gaining two perfectly good teachers as well."
Kanchana is smiling warmly, and unwittingly begins to stare at Gordo.
She is quite certain that he will always put childrens' best interests ahead of rules, traditions and customs. In fact his last words just strengthen the Druidess' opinion of the man.
Kanchana completely avoids breaking off her staring to give Kale a withering stare for his comment. In fact she manages to avoid looking Kale's way without any trouble. Though she privately admits in her thoughts that humans do look rather thin and scrawny while they are cubs. She is amazed that so many even live to reach adulthood. Nevermind that general human hairlessness often reminds her of Taurs with severe skin diseases!
Gordo however has a respectable amount of 'pelt', and the curliness and color makes it sort of exotic in her opinion. With immense and sudden embarrassment Kanchana realizes that she has just been staring at the man; studying him she justifies it with, for far longer than polite behaviour would ever condone! With the speed of thought that the realization of staring rudely dumped on her she takes an instant and highly unusual interest in the local roof tiling styles.
A Simple Introduction. (DM Jim) Wednesday September 1st, 2004 9:48:42 PM
The two taur children do not shrink back as most would expect, but even move forward to greet the hulking man. Domisha lays her little hand in Gordo's big one and smiles at him with the deepest of innocence, not faked but real. "My name is Domisha...boy you sure are big." She stares at the big man as the other little girl cub steps forward and reaches out tentatively to touch his arm. She breaks into giggles as she puts her hand over her mouth. "Your almost as hairy as my mommie." She starts to giggle again and this time Domisha joins in.
From the side a taur female speaks up with a clear voice. "Now Melamin that will be quite enough of that." She smiles at the large man with apologetic eyes. "Please...she meant no offense." The little girl named Melamin scuffs the ground and hangs her head. "Yes momma...my name is Melamin sir."
Both girls look longingly at the other children, seemingly more than wanting to play. They hang back for they do not know if the can or should. They both look to Gordo with a pleading look in their eyes but say nothing.
[Chosen - I will take care of the potions with the next post. Anything else that you decide on I will take care of as well.]
Toros Wednesday September 1st, 2004 9:49:57 PM
"Hello Gordo, you may simply call me Toros, happy to meet you", greets Toros, smiling at Gordo :-)
Gecktar Thursday September 2nd, 2004 2:38:34 AM
Gecktar looks at Flat-Top an think he definitively has the feeling with children. Gecktar feels not so easy, he had a martial education and then a monacal one. No time to spend playing or thinking to simple enjoyements.
He feels as if he forget to be young... And thisis certainly the reason why he is so uncomfortable with children.
He looks at Gordo, sure that the large man would seek the best interest of the children.
(OOC : Gecktar give Solgrim any help he needs for identifying the potions so only 4,6,9 fails)
Flat-top Thursday September 2nd, 2004 9:55:42 AM
Flat-top trots back with giggling and shouting. "Alright! you littlte one get off and I'll take more for a ride. Malamin! Come along to show the playmates how to ride on a Centaur." But to the little boy (the one who tried to eat a worm) Flat-top pick him up, tell him "Worm tast better with fruit juice." Then put him behind Malamin. Flat-top takes on a few more children. Shouting at all the children "Domisha can tell you all about the Taurs." Withh a wink he take the children for another ride."
Kale Thursday September 2nd, 2004 10:37:59 AM
rolling his eyes at Brahmah's comments, Kale none the less keeps his mouth shut. he doesnt want to offend anyone who might take the kids off their hands.
Leets Thursday September 2nd, 2004 10:53:50 AM
The Centaur paladin smiles at the scene that is occuring, and looks around him.
"So, here we are finally. The big city. I guess we have much to do here...Brahmah, where would you like us to begin?"
Solgrin Thursday September 2nd, 2004 1:37:01 PM
Solgrin whatches as the others deal with being in the Floating city for the first time remembering what it was like when he first cam eto the Floating City.
Brahmah Thursday September 2nd, 2004 3:19:41 PM
"Well Leets, we need to find a place for the Children and then, I for one think we should find out where the command to burn the original orphanage came from. Then deal with those people accordingly! I feel they meant for us not to come here and were hoping if the orphanage wasn't here, we would continue to wander." The minotaur seems rather unsure where this idea came from, but he smiles anyway.
Gordo Thursday September 2nd, 2004 3:41:37 PM
The big man's grin widens, and he begins to chuckle. Pretty soon he's laughing, a great big infectious belly-laugh.
"Enough! Enough! I yield! You're worse than a horde of toffee-apple-crazed younguns! Heh, Domi chose well when he picked you as his champions! You're right of course, you're right. Need is need, and right is right, and if I can help I will. And you lass" he says, winking cheerfully at Kanchana "are too clever for your own good! Or is that my own good? Ah well. As you say, sometimes rules are made for breaking. Melamim, Domisha, welcome to our orphanage, you'll fit in here just fine." He waves at Melamim cheerfully as she rides off on the centaur's back.
"Ah. Now did you see that? Bub Scrotchins is giving little Lizzie Wormwood a piggy back. Heart of gold that boy. Mind full of mischief, but a heart of gold. Domisha, would you take Bub this here piece of candy and tell him I said he's a good lad, and while yer at it take a bit for yerself. Off you go then." And he shoos the little taur towards the gaggle of children still chasing after Flattop.
Gordo turns to the two mothers and extends a big ham-like hand. "Welcome, ladies, all help offered here is gratefully accepted. In truth we're short of volunteers, and we can certainly use your aid. Welcome aboard."
Zeoll Thursday September 2nd, 2004 7:46:58 PM
Gordo's laugh is infectious, and Zeoll finds himself joining in.
"Thank you, frriend! You have lifted a heavy burrden frrom the hearrts of us rrefugees."
Toros 3d20(17+8+5)=30 Thursday September 2nd, 2004 8:47:14 PM
Aftar Gecktar's try, Toros also tries to give help for the remaining potions, 4, 6, 9. (17, 8, 5 against d10) His beginner's luck helps at the first potion, but that's all.
Identifications and New Friends. (DM Jim) Thursday September 2nd, 2004 10:14:48 PM
Melamin slips up on Flat-top's back and holds on as he takes off across the yard. She squeels in delight and waves to the others.
Domisha takes the candy and looks to Gordo with a big smiles. "Thank you sir." She takes off at a fair pace as she heads for the other kids. She stops and passes out the candy with a big smile. She is bombarded by questions about her family, herself and the people she is with. She takes it in stride and to most everyones' amazement she is an excellent storyteller.
Both mothers come forward and take Gordo's hand as the nod. Vrurt speaks up first as cannot help but feel relieved. "Thank you...my name is Vrurt and I can teach and tend kids to help out." The other mother nods and comments. "I have some abilities in the magical area..the arcane kind that I can use here and there." She smiles to the Chosen with a bit of sadness. "We both can also teach anything about our races that we can."
Items * What items will we identify and in what order?
Brahmah d20=3 Thursday September 2nd, 2004 10:34:24 PM
[Wisdom check 3] Brahmah misses the joke and wonders why several are laughing. Oh well.
Brahma hugs the kids and mothers to say good bye. "Kenisha, be safe. Domisha, lil'one, come here." He picks her up and kisses her nose. "Be good, mind mom. She's your Herd leader now. I'll miss you." He gives Domisha his colorful bead necklace he won from Hellhound hunt Festival at the Pin the Tail game. He gives Melamim a dented silver coin from his pocket so that she doesn't feel left out. "Be good girls."
Zeoll Friday September 3rd, 2004 1:22:17 AM
Zeoll sees that the group is getting ready to depart. But he feels that the group is imposing on the orphanage.
In Tauric, which he hopes Gordo cannot understand, Zeoll says to his friends, "Surrely we should make a donation to the orrphanage! Orr volunteerr ourr serrvices in some way. Orr both!"
==========
OOC: Zeoll cannot read, nor can he cast Identify. So he must rely on others for that.
Of course, anyone who can cast identify would be recompensed out of the value of the loot before we divide it.
Solgrin Friday September 3rd, 2004 2:36:24 AM
Solgrin carefully walks over to near Gordo and asks "Sir, is there something that we can aid you with to help with the orphanage as you are taking in the little ones?"
When the chosen leave the orphanage Solgrin will show them back to his mentors home.
Later Solgrin will ask the Chosen "I see that there is no other wizard in the group, are there items that I should identify for the group?"
Solgrin will prep then cast read magic and look at all the scrolls that the Chosen have. Afterwards Solgrin will prep and cast 4 identify spells each day untill all items are identified.
Gecktar Friday September 3rd, 2004 2:56:06 AM
A burden on the shoulders of Gecktar has disepeared since Gordo accepted the children and their mother.
It seems that one more time they are ready for new quests. And the first, agree Gecktar is to solve the enigma of the first orphanage that has burned. Gecktar feels this was not accident but a deliberate malovelant act.
"I agree Zeol, I think we need give some donation to the orphanage. Please Gordo, accept this gift for the children." Gecktar search in his backpack and gather some coins, about 200 gp that he hands to Gordo. "In the name of Domi's True Church. This is a personnal donation an this only involve myself, but maybe the group could afford something else but before we must discuss about that and all must agree."
"I am personnaly favorable to give some part of our treasure" says Gecktar to the other Chosen.
He turns to Kenisha and Vurt and approches them. He gives each a clumsy hug and says "Will you have any means to contact us ? I will be glad to regulary have news about both of you and the children too. You'll be missing me, as do the children."
He then goes to see the children : "uncle Gecktar is leaving, as will the other. Be proud of what you are as you're blessed by Domi. Learn well and be good with Gordo, your mum and the other children. Goodbye blessed ones"
OOC : identifying the scrolls will be done tomorrow because Gecktar must prepare the read magic spell. As well as casting detect Evil/Good on the magical objects.
Flat-top Friday September 3rd, 2004 9:40:24 AM
Flat-top comes back with the last of the orphans that wanted rides. He look to the other Chosen and knows that it's time to leave. Flat-top walks to over to Kanchana, he dresses in his armor, takes his weapons, his saddle bags, belt, the money pouch he opens takes out five copper coins and the mirror on a chain. "Thank you for holding my things for me, Kitten."
Flat-top goes to Gordo, asking him "Don't Children ever get tired? I'd rather fight a dousen Orcs. But I very happy that our little treasures will be safe here. So I have discovered these Coins (Flat-top gives gordo the copper coins) I reconised these coins the first time I saw them (flat-top take the mirror with the chaine and open it into a little spy glass)Look here these coins are called Collector's Coins, they are very old and very rare they are worth 200gp each coins the last time I had them appraised. Please take them as a donation to this wonderful place. I know our little one will be happy here and every one of these orphens will have an open mind about some one different" Flat-top hands over the Mirror and the five coins.
Flat-top goes to Kenisha and Vurt, hugs them both, kissing them both on the fore head, telling them "Take care of all our little treasure here and may Domi always be with you, Good-by for now. We'll meet again when every thing is safe."
Then to the girls, then kisses them both on the head Telling them, "Be good to your mothers, the Gordo and all the children here, tell them about the ship and the adventures at sea, tell them about the old blind Centure who help you find this wonderful place, tell them about the times you had with the Golden Dragon and playing with his treasure. But most of all remember your Aunt and Uncles that love you always. Now go to your new playmates."
Flat-top watches the girls wave good-by. then he returns to the others,"Sorry that I did not tell you about the coins before, but I had a dream that it was to be used for the children. Now I'm ready to go! Just don't hit me Brahmah."
Kale Friday September 3rd, 2004 10:11:28 AM
Kale stand on the outskirts of the orphanage, waiting for the others to leave. he stiffens up when there is mention of sharing their treasure with the orphans and mutters something about getting underpaid, but he doesnt move to stop anyone from doing it.
Leets Friday September 3rd, 2004 2:29:11 PM
Leets considers the two paths ofered by Brahmah.
"We'll have to investigate about the orphanage, and considering our usual modus operandi, it could possibly end with a...well...confrontation with the people responsible for all this. So I propose we first find a safe place for the kids, and a temple of Domi could probably fit this role - tell me Gecktar if I'm wrong...Now, it's true that the young ones are not common ones, and it could be more complicated..."
"Solgrin, since you are more familiar with the city, what do you think of Domi's local clergymen?"
Kanchana Friday September 3rd, 2004 6:25:43 PM
Kanchana hears the debate about helping to find out who burned down the orphanage. She sighs in frustration.
'There they go again getting sidetracked, the guardians of the city should be doing the evil-do'er hunting here not us!
Kanchana has one of those long suffering looks (due to the goody-goody snoop around suggestions, and magnanimosity with the scant monies the Chosen actually have).
She would prefer to leave this cramped, ugly city as fast as her paws can carry her. Also she is not pleased about parting with sorely needed funds; if she had heard Kale's muttering about getting underpaid then she would agree whole-heartedly! In her opinion it should be enough that the orphanage gained two new teachers, two more adults to help out and keep watch, and one of them a very skilled sorceress to boot!
"My pleasure, I have gladly done so since it made the cubs happy to play with you." Kanchana smiles to Flat-top.
Before leaving Kanchana will smile knowingly to Gordo and tell him, "I would probably have to say 'for both our own goods'!" She chuckles. Kanchana will give Vrurt, Kenisha, Domisha and Melamin blessings from Mother Wold and Father Tomi, making certain to include that the Great Mother and Father protect them and guide their actions.
Once back at Solgrin's mentor's home she will offer to assist with interpreting the scrolls as best she can. However she has to wait for the next day, as she needs to rest first.
Brahmah Friday September 3rd, 2004 9:18:37 PM
"Say, Gordo, how capable and willing, are the authorities around here in doing the investigations into the fire and the murders?" His face gets grim. "I don't really want to know if any of the children were harmed."
Toros Friday September 3rd, 2004 9:58:27 PM
Feeling the relief that finally the children will be safe, Toros gets some time to rest and reflect. While sitting on a quiet corner, he empties all his pockets looking for interesting, attractive or worthy stuff that he can leave here. As he is a good walking recycle box, he finds some nice stuff and with gratitude, offer them to their Host, together with a good amount of gold money, paying attention not to pay too much or little than other Taurs. He feels a big load has gone away from him, he was carrying so many - so much heavy stuff!! He can even now try to fly!
Some Final Matters. (DM Jim) Friday September 3rd, 2004 11:21:06 PM
Gordo will be able to let the group know that the local authorities are after those that burned down the old orphanage. It is also known that a group of do-gooders is also after them as well and handling the problem as well. Gordo refuses any funds that the group may offer as it would not be right to take thier money when they have important tasks to complete.
Back at the house of Solgrin's master the group is able to get a little more rest and maybe a snack.
[Chosen - Where do you want to start on the magical equipment? Or would you rather me go down the list piece by piece. By the way, how many pearls does the group have for identifying?]
[Chosen - I will be mailing out experience tomorrow for each of you. I am going to try something different for the XP. A suggestion by Jerry and a few others.]
Brahmah Saturday September 4th, 2004 12:46:26 AM
Brahmah suggests...
"Rings, amulets, weapons, armor, cloaks and potions and scroll in that order. Of course, the arcane caster might have a better way."
"I only have irregular pearls."
Kanchana Saturday September 4th, 2004 4:56:42 PM
"We need to work on anything to protect the weaker; less protected ? members of our pride first. As far as I have taken note our warriors are actually fairly well armed as it is. But then warriors and more or less non-warriors will never see eye to eye on armament." Kanchana feels no need to downplay her partial lack of agreement with Brahmah's priority list. "Solgrin I will help you with the scrolls as best I can. I have no pearls at all, but I thought that we had found a few in the dragon hoard?" Kanchana finds a decent spot to work in; perferably outside. She does tell Solgrin also that she regrets not being able to help any more with any of the potions. As soon as she can she will do whatever is necessary to work with any divine spell scrolls.
((James it is basically the same for me if you take the list item by item, but we need to make sure that the "weakest" members of the Chosen get a helping hand, especially since it won't be getting any easier for us all I presume.))
Zeoll Saturday September 4th, 2004 6:09:09 PM
"If we need pearrls, let's use the loot to buy them. And thank you, good Solgrrin, for casting the spell."
[OOC: Can we just subtract 100gp from the party loot for every Identify cast? Or should we go to the Catacombs first to buy pearls? I'm looking forward to getting everything identified.]
Kanchana ((Eunice OOC)) Saturday September 4th, 2004 8:32:42 PM
((There is an email that Dominic sent about the identifying issue. He has some very good suggestions mentioned there. So maybe we can just briefly move the Identifying 'logistics' discussion over to that e-mail?))
Amendment. (DM Jim) Sunday September 5th, 2004 11:36:19 AM
The five coins that were offered to Gordo are the only things that he took. Flat-top's reasoning for him taking them was beyond fault and Gordo had to honor his wish.
Solgrin Sunday September 5th, 2004 4:12:01 PM
When they get back to his teachers home Solgrin will prepare and then cast his spells. Solgrin starts with the scrolls by using read magic. He will then start on the items beginning with any cloaks, rings, amulets, miscellaneous items then the weapons and armor.
Solgrin will see that the others know where the food is and tell them "the city has a group investigating the orphanage fire and the death of the head mistress. There is some normal everyday food here in the pantry or you could go a couple of buildings down the street to the north and there is a tavern that my teacher and I would goto every so often for our meals. They have some very nice food."

Gecktar Monday September 6th, 2004 5:25:30 AM
Gecktar cast detect evil on the items of the loot to see if there is some that radiate such aura. He will take some time to pray Domi, thanking him for lightenning their burden and showing them the way.
If he can have some rest he will prépare read magic spell to identify the scrolls.
Gecktar Monday September 6th, 2004 6:25:25 AM
Gecktar cast detect evil on the items of the loot to see if there is some that radiate such aura. He will take some time to pray Domi, thanking him for lightenning their burden and showing them the way.
If he can have some rest he will prépare read magic spell to identify the scrolls.
Kale Monday September 6th, 2004 9:28:42 AM
letting the others deal with the treasure, Kale walks down to the tavern and orders himself something to drink(ale) and daydreams about his share of the dragon's treasure.
Leets Monday September 6th, 2004 4:37:15 PM
Leets will use this peaceful time to take care of his own wounds. He will also pend time with Managarm.
Brahmah Monday September 6th, 2004 7:44:31 PM
Brahmah will take this time to think about the Quest and Children and whats best for everyone.
He thinks about the little village they left and Vasch. 'Could I have been more of a friend o Vasch? Seen eye to eye with him?'
Flat-top Monday September 6th, 2004 8:06:46 PM
Flat-top fell really down in the mouth, to cheer up he trots over to Kanchana, "Kanchana! want to go to have a little bite at the Inn?? Since I left the Colts, I don't want to be alone."
A Vacation of Sorts. (DM Jim) Monday September 6th, 2004 10:20:23 PM
The Chosen go about there own little bits of business and enjoy a little freetime. Some of the group spend their time going over the loot that was gained from their last little adventure.
For most it feels good to just not have to worry about life and death for some time. Though a few of you would rather be somewhere that was not a stuffy city, the gardens do supply a great relief.
[Identifications to come in the mail along with the Hero Point awards.]
Brahmah Monday September 6th, 2004 11:13:51 PM
After a day in the city, Brahmah starts feeling stifled and oppressed. The city to the ranger and former sailor seems small. 'I'll take the open sea anytime.'
He makes sure not to look, sound or seem depressed, he wouldn't want the druidess to come 'sing' to him again. So, he journies out to get a bite to eat. He tries to avoid any potential fights or bar-brawls. But, if one should just 'happen' to start, he'll make a point of finishing it.
Gecktar Tuesday September 7th, 2004 2:35:08 AM
After dealing with the loot and replenishing his strength, Geckatr is curious to see why this city is called the Floating City.
"Anybody wants to explore the city and make some tourism ? I'm curious to see why this city is called the Floating City. Is really the entire city in ythe sky ? I want to go to the borders and see by my eyes. Anybody wants to go with me ?"
Whatever the answer of the Chosen he will go to seek a border of the the city. Of course he will be happier to share some time with the others.
Leets Tuesday September 7th, 2004 3:46:16 AM
"I"ll gladly come Gecktar. And maybe on our way we can find some clergymen of Domi, who knows..."
"And Managarm can do some exercise at the same time!"
Flat-top Tuesday September 7th, 2004 4:18:31 AM
Flat-top Not wanting to go with Brahmah, He know (being an Ex sailor) if trouble should break out, that he would be in the center of it. Kanchana is busy identifying to treasure to take time out to has lunch with him, So He'll go with Gecktar to see if Floating City really Floats. "I'll go with you,Gecktar! I want to see this too."
Brahmah Tuesday September 7th, 2004 4:56:21 AM
OOC: The last time Brahmah was in a city of humans, alone, he was 'recruited' and became a pirate against his will. Some Chosen might know the story already. :)
Solgrin Tuesday September 7th, 2004 6:54:19 AM
Solgrin looks to those helping him and says "thank you for the help, you sure have alot to be identified."
Solgrin will take and study each item as he identifies them (spellcraft check take 20 (33 for check)) before he casts identify.
Kale Tuesday September 7th, 2004 10:34:02 AM
Kale stays at the tavern for the rest of the day drinking his cares away.
Kanchana d20+3=23 Tuesday September 7th, 2004 5:16:02 PM
Kanchana smiles when Flat-top asks her if she would like to join him, then she gestures at all of the work she volunteered to help out with to him. "I am sorry dear, but I promised Solgrin that I would help out." She frowns just a bit wearily, "I would love to have joined you, but I see that Gecktar wouldn't mind your company either." She gives the centaur's hand a gentle squeeze, "enjoy yourself though. Please tell me if this city is as bad as I think it is!" She gives Flat-top a quick, mischievous wink.
Kanchana laughs mirthfully at Solgrin's comment about the amounts of stuff to be identified. "Yes, we finally "got lucky". Usually it is not so much - so it is us who should be thanking you for the help friend!"
(Appraise check for the loot, 23 (nat. 20)) :)
((OOC: sorry if I have missed any posts; school work has been eating into all of my time!))
Zeoll Tuesday September 7th, 2004 9:52:51 PM
The liontaur has a favor to ask Kanchana.
"When we have some time off, would you walk with me in the garrdens they have herre? I would value yourr insights into philosophy and Naturre. I have much to learrn."
[OOC: Zeoll is gaining his third druid level.]
Otherwise he awaits the results of appraise checks, scroll readings, and appraisals. He is looking forward to the results.
"I alrready have my eyes on those potions of Eagle's Splendorr!"
More Time in the City. (DM Jim) Tuesday September 7th, 2004 11:29:08 PM
The days wear on with the identificatin done and most of the group having done their own little things. You are finding it a little better in the city. Most of the people are tolerable of taurs in the city and most inquire about you with curiousity.
It is soon discovered that the city is actually called Big Float due to the fact that some of it is underwater. With some talk to the citizens you find that the city has never really seen much from the outside world. It seems that the city is hidden by some means from the outside, though a recent event has occured with a few other new faces coming here.
Brahmah finds himself in one of the more seedier bars in the Float. The drink is the sort that burns as it goes down and would most likely peel the paint off a ship. Well into a few mugs he finds himself embroiled in a fight that he is not sure who started. To his credit he held his own for most of it till six burly dwarves ganged up on him at one time. Though not seriously injured he still got a black eye, fat lip and a busted rib out of the deal. Though the dwarves are no scene of roses themselves.
[Chosen - You are getting something good in the mail.]
Brahmah Wednesday September 8th, 2004 8:41:34 AM
[OOC: Ha!:) Thanks Jim.]
The battered and bruised, but VERY happy minoTaur returns to he group without saying a word.
"So, have we decided what to do with the magicks?" He pauses. "Why are you all staring at me?"
Gecktar Wednesday September 8th, 2004 9:20:17 AM
"Mmmm... What have you done Brahmah. Is this a giant that walks on your face ?"
Gecktar welcome Brahmah take by the shoulder and begin to examine the contusions.
"Well, let me watch to your wounds..."
Coming close from Brahmah he can smell the odor of alcohol.
"Is it serious Captain to put youself in such state ?" says Gecktar a smile on his face.
Leets Wednesday September 8th, 2004 9:51:14 AM
The Centaur paladin smiles at Brahmah's face...
"You know Gectar, for some it's the sea and sailing, for others the forest and wild spaces, and for others dales and sheeps...For Brahmah, a good bottle or two and a handful of alcoholized dwarves will just do fine..."
Kale Wednesday September 8th, 2004 10:24:28 AM
once he's finished doing his business at the bar, Kale stumbles back to the others and immediatly goes to sleep
Flat-top Wednesday September 8th, 2004 11:39:28 AM
Flat-top knows Brahmah very well, if Brahmah goes to a tavern alone he'll end up in jail. So he ash him "You know a drink sound good to me, cna I come along, I can see the edge of the wold later." Flat-top is off, next to the Captain.
Solgrin and Rozca Wednesday September 8th, 2004 11:39:31 AM
Solgrin looks at Brahmah when he gets back to the house then says "I should have warned you, the Float is a rough place at times. I have the items sorted out for the group thanks to the help of Kanchana and Gecktar." When all of the Chosen are around Solgrin asks "with the children now at the orphanage what are the plans of the Chosen?"
Rozca looks at Brahmah then makes a strange hissing sound as if she is giggling at Brahmah. Rozca will stay perched on Solgrins shoulder watching what is happening around Solgrin.
Flat-top Wednesday September 8th, 2004 12:24:50 PM
"Oh! Kanchana! I think your needed here? Look like our leader had a good time!" then to Brahmah, Flat-top ask " want to go to another tavern? for food this time?"
Zeoll Wednesday September 8th, 2004 6:34:06 PM
Zeoll takes advantage of the chance to relax. He visits the gardens and meditates [OOC: going up a level]. he practices the new, less flashy spells he can now cast. And he takes a whole day to summon an animal companion.
[OOC: Hey! Everyone else has one! Why not Zeoll! LOL!]
Zeoll also visits the Catacombs, if no one objects, to sell the nonmagic treasure. Did Kanchana want that cold iron sword? Or should Zeoll sell it?
Kanchana Wednesday September 8th, 2004 7:21:15 PM
Kanchana will eagerly and happily accompany Zeoll to the gardens. She will answer any questions that she can and will also share whatever druidic knowledge she has with Zeoll. Kanchana will point out that Gecktar seems to be managing Brahmahs injuries quite well alone, so she will go and discuss druidic thngs with Zeoll instead.
((The cold Iron sword was given to Kanchana as some sort of story line element by the DM (I think it is a storyline element anyway), so she will be keeping it.)) ((Are you going to pick up any "party treasure identification pearls" for some of the party monies Cayzle?))
Another Day Another Party. (DM Jim) Wednesday September 8th, 2004 9:30:53 PM
Brahmah is more than happy to have had something to keep his mind off the city for awhile. The fact that he spent the last hour of that day drinking with the dwarves, after the fight also helped to brighten his mood.
The rest give him a knowing look as he comes back in while Gecktar makes it to his side to check his wounds. The are all minor little things that should heal on thier own in the next couple of days.
Zeoll spends much of his time in the garden with Kanchana as they talk druidic knowledge. Kanchana is quick to help Zeoll get himself set up to summon a companion for himself, but beats a retreat when he is ready. For most this is a sacred and personal event, though some share it openly.
Later that day Brahmah goes back out to a different bar with Flat-top and who ever else would like to go. The intent is to have food and talk while they have the time for such luxuries. Brahmah notices that the group of dwarves are in this bar this night as he enters. The hoot at him in greeting and then turn back to their own mugs and food, while the bartender scowls and pulls up a club.
[Cayzle - What are you looking for in an animal companion? We can talk it over in email if you want and then play it out in game. :)]
Brahmah Thursday September 9th, 2004 1:46:34 AM
Brahmah seems, even after healing, to be bothered by his aching rib.
But he goes back out bar hopping with the centaur friend.
Kale Thursday September 9th, 2004 7:04:35 AM
the next morning, Kale dissapears again. he seems to be looking for something
OOC, looking for sighns of the local thieves guild
Flat-top Thursday September 9th, 2004 8:00:17 AM
Flat-top reminds that He has the possestion of the Morning star +2 and that he also had taken the Ring of Protection, witch he gave Kenchana for her protection.
Flaty-top want to fight the 'Small Fries dwarfs But want to eat first. He tells Brahmah to hold him back, after lonch he's going to whip the floor with them.'
Paw'caw(ceil) Thursday September 9th, 2004 8:02:21 AM
Paw'caw flies to brahmah to see if he's alright, She smells his breath, then flies off.
Managram(ceil) Thursday September 9th, 2004 8:06:54 AM
Managram follows Leets around as if Leets had an extra four paws. The dog wonders if there's another Big Bone in his futur.
Rozca(ceil) Thursday September 9th, 2004 8:12:22 AM
After going through the Gate, He has been a little con fused?? He does not know where he is? or what he is any more?? But what are those other Animals?? He hopesw tha his master will strainten thing out??
Elder(ceil) Thursday September 9th, 2004 8:16:00 AM
Elder watches this huge Liontaur and he's talking to his mistress, he thinks "He better not come closer or I'll bit him on his paw!' he watches Zeoll closely.
Leets Thursday September 9th, 2004 3:02:07 PM
On his way while visiting the visit, Leets will try to find a butcher and will buy one big bone or two...(If Managarm is a nice dog...)
Kanchana Thursday September 9th, 2004 6:00:15 PM
Kanchana will take some time; while conversing with Zeoll, to 'play' with Ilder. She will also make sure that Ilder and Zeoll are properly introduced. She explains to Ilder that Zeoll is a druid like herself. Kanchana would rather remain here to take her meals than go to any cramped, stuffy taverns. However she is; as almost always, open to persuasion.
Solgrin Thursday September 9th, 2004 8:43:07 PM
Solgrin stays around the house so that if any of the chosen need him he can be found. Solgrinwill give Rozca small bits of rabbit a couple of times during the day when she gets hungry.
Zeoll d20+7=9 Thursday September 9th, 2004 9:38:26 PM
Zeoll tries to convince Ilder that he is friendly, with little success (Wild Empathy check 9!). Smiling ruefully, the liontaur thanks Kanchana for her help. "You have truly helped enlighten me," he tells her in wemic.
When he is alone to meditate, Zeoll concentrates on Nature and sends his thoughts wending through his memories. He follows the mental tracks laid in his brain by animals he has observed and hunted. His memory unravels around the lore he had heard from the old shaman who taught him.
His thoughts, his emotions, his meditations, his prayers all twist and in a tangle. He follows them in his head, snaking through the tales and experiences of his life, twisting and wriggling, crawling and inching, looking for a choice thought, stabbing forward like lightning to grab the essence of his imaginings.
When he opens his eyes, he finds himself staring into the reptilian gaze of a viper.
"Ah. Naturrally," he murmurs in druidic. He acquaints himself with his new companion.
As the Wold turns, very slowly. (DM Jim) d100=3 Thursday September 9th, 2004 10:18:28 PM
The dwarves do not start a fight this night, but the do send over some very nice ale to Brahmah's table. The part of the group that went had a good time and ate their fill, though they had no other entertainment; unless they make it.
Kale finds out some info on the local thieves guild but to his dismay it is a group called the Anvil Heart. He recalls the name from the talks with Solgrin and Gordo...they burned down the old orphanage. Still there is talk that the leader and part of his group was taken into local custody.
Zeoll wakes from his meditation to find himself looking into the eyes of a viper, but something does not feel right about it. He finds a sudden urge to go for a walk and finds himself in what he would call the sewers of the city. There he finds a crocodile that has been living in the sewers for some time. It eyes his suspiciously for a few minutes as Zeoll takes in the sight.
Brahmah Friday September 10th, 2004 1:17:22 AM
Brahmah excepts the drinks but doesn't start any 'entertainment'. He talks to the dwarves about anything they want to converse about.
Gecktar Friday September 10th, 2004 2:35:49 AM
Gecktar search the city for any trace of Domi 's church. If he finds something, he will stay meditating and praying here. If his research are unsuccessful, he will go back to Solgrim's master's home and pray in any place relatively calm.
Flat-top Friday September 10th, 2004 7:59:28 AM
Flat-top Looks to Brahmah and ask "You going to accept this beer from these pipsqueeks?? I think I'll go back to Kanchana, she much better drinking companion..." Flat-top turns to go and find his weimic.
Leets Friday September 10th, 2004 2:07:03 PM
As soon as one or two big bones have been packed in a piece of paper, Leets follows Gecktar to find some holy place of Domi's clergymen. He would be really happy to find such a place, because it has been a long time since the last time he could talk with Domi quietly...
Zeoll d20+7=17 Friday September 10th, 2004 2:11:25 PM
Zeoll watches the viper slither away into a tunnel. "A Tunnel!"
The liontaur follows his instincts and makes his way underground. Snaking his way through twisty sewers, he finds a crocodile. Trying to make friends with the reptile, Zeoll wonders if this is his companion! [Wild Empathy check 17]

[OOC: Waiting for the Catacombs ... soon I'll have a loot report for us!]
Zeoll d12=4 Saturday September 11th, 2004 9:32:11 AM
Zeoll returns to Solgrin's house with his new crocodile in tow. "Don't worrry," he says, "This is my frriend."
Then he takes all the loot and the gold he got from the Catacombs for the mundane stuff and divides it all into eight piles.
"Each of these eight piles is worrth 7,291 gold pieces, give or take a few silverr. I want all of us to rroll this die in turrn (he shows a twelve-sided die) -- the highest rrollerrs pick firrst."
"Note that the two best weapons are so valuable that whoeverr picks them will owe someone else some gold to make up forr it." He seems to have had some help in writing out I-Owe-You's -- since he can't read or write.
Here are the eight piles. [The numbers in parentheses are the gp values]:
Loot Pile Five: ring of feather fall (2200) hide armor+1 (1210) heavy steel shield+1 (1190) cloak of comfort (1000) neutralize poison potion (750) blur potion (300) gold (641)
Loot Pile Six: ring of feather fall (2200) ring of protection +1 (2000) pearl of power - 1st (1000) cloak of comfort (1000) eagle's splendor potion (300) gold (791)
Loot Pile Seven: amulet of natural armor+1 (2000) ring of protection +1 (2000) gray bag of tricks (900) warp wood scroll - 3rd (125) fire trap scroll - 3rd (125) euphoria scroll - 3rd (125) hornet's nest scroll - 2nd (50) obscuring mist scroll - 1st (25) gold (915) Loot Pile 2 owes me (1025.4)
Zeoll picks up the die and rolls a 4. "Looks like I'll be picking nearr the back of the queue!"
Leets d12=1 Saturday September 11th, 2004 9:50:21 AM
The Centaur paladin, who found no church of Domi, finally join the group at Solgrin's house, and will take part to the loot sharing.
(OOC: Doh! 1...)
Brahmah d12=9 Saturday September 11th, 2004 11:37:40 AM
(Rolled 9)
Gecktar d12=1 Saturday September 11th, 2004 1:25:35 PM
Like Leets, Gecktar is disapointed for not having found a holy place of Domi. But maybe they have searched the wrong way.
Back to the house of Solgrim he too roll a dice. He looks at Leets and then laugh out loud. This is not their chance day. Maybe they should return tomorrow to find a holy place of Domi in the city.
(Roll ... 1)
A Turn by a Turn. (CM Jim) Saturday September 11th, 2004 2:19:42 PM
Leets and Gecktar are both able to find a temple of Domi in the city, in fact it was easy to find. They unfortunately find out that there is a matter at the jail that is being attended to and the temple is closed for the day. Seemed like important business was being taken care of.
The dwarves talk about weapons and armor along with the insides of caves. Some of the stuff is interesting but others are not for an outdoors man. Still Brahmah is surprised to find out that all of the dwarves like to sail as well and that topic takes up many hours of talk...talltales and all.
Zeoll finds that the crocodile is more than willing to follow him about. Though he does get some funny looks for passerbys and some even take of screaming. He only has one altercation with the city guard, but they let it go with a warning as the creature is a friend and under control.
It is getting late as everyone returns to Solgrin's master's house. A nice meal is already prepared as the group enters and Zeoll has other good news as he enters. He has been to the mysterious Catacombs and gotten some money for the group.
[Sorry for a late post on Saturday.]
Flat-top d12=4 Saturday September 11th, 2004 3:01:59 PM
Flat-top is suprised that dwarves can sail and wonders if they use very small boats. He no longer want to fight, "Come on Captain! Let's go back to the err, to meet with the others."
Flat-top rolled a 4, are we going to fight over the piles of treasure Zeoll??
Kanchana d12=11 Saturday September 11th, 2004 3:55:06 PM
Kanchana will spend her time learning about this city and its inhabitants and getting to know Solgrin better as well. She will be bold enough to ask him about the dreams that Domi has sent him. Zeoll's crocodile alarms her and she makes sure that Ilder is nearby her in case the croc thinks of smaller animals as food.
((Cayzle I do not understand this treasure splitting of yours, in particular the "Loot Pile # owes me (#)" stuff. Please explain this strange system. Also please explain how you came up with these odd groupings (piles). I hope the Fey Sword thing isn't figured into this since it is a DM device for storyline, as far as I know since Kanchana would never have picked up a long sword, and James had suddenly posted at one point that she mystically had it for some reason or other!))
((ROLLED 11))
Zeoll Saturday September 11th, 2004 4:34:43 PM
Zeoll laughs at Flat-top. "No, my frriend, you don't have to fight! That would not be fairr to everryone else, since you would beat us all and win everrything!"
Zeoll finds a length of rope and puts his crocodile on a leash to reassure everybody.
==========
OOC: Here is the story behind the treasure. I took all the cash and the gp value of all the items and added it together (after paying for Identifies, and not including the cold iron sword). That totalled 58,325 gp. I divided that by 8 and got 7,291 gp. So everybody should get a pile worth 7,291 gp.
Then I divided the loot into eight piles.
But the +2 weapons are worth MORE than 7,291 gp! So if you get one of those, you are getting more than your fair share. You owe some gold back into the pot. SInce a +2 weapon is worth more than 1 share, if you take it, you then also get an IOU. I hope that is clear.
Since someone who takes a +2 weapon has to give an IOU, that means someone else has to get the IOU. So Loot Pile 1 has an IOU to Loot Pile 8, and Loot Pile 2 has an IOU to Loot Pile 7.
If Brahmah takes Loot Pile 1 and Zeoll takes Loot Pile 8, then Brahmah owes Zeoll 1,209 gp.
I hope this explains the IOUs.
As for what items went into which piles, I just tried to spread things out so that every pile has useful stuff. I did try to make the first four piles to be fighter oriented, and piles 6, 7, and 8 are better for spell casters, but I hope there is something for everything.
After you get your pile, there's nothing to say you can't trade with a friend, if someone else got something you like.
It is a little better to use things than to sell them to the Catacombs, since the Catacombs only gives you 9 silvers on the gold in trade in value.
Please let me know if you have questions or comments.
We are rolling for the right to pick a pile. If Kanchana's 11 wins, she will get to pick which of the 8 piles is hers. Then the next highest roll will pick from the remaining 7 piles. So far the pick order is:
Flat-top and Zeoll and Leets and Gecktar are tied -- please reroll to see who is ahead for these ties.
Zeoll d12=12 Saturday September 11th, 2004 4:36:24 PM
Rolls again to break his tie with Flat-top -- 12!
"Ha! A Twelve! Orr you could fight me! Me and Crroc!"
:-)
Solgrin and Rozca Saturday September 11th, 2004 5:06:53 PM
Solgrin sits back and watches the Chosen go over the loot.
Rozca sees the croc and curls up tighter around Solgrins neck hiding.
After a while Solgrin decides that the croc is not going to be of any real problem and tells Rozca "I don't think it will try to eat you."
Brahmah Saturday September 11th, 2004 5:47:08 PM
OOC: I suggest that Zeoll and Flat-top flip a coin (roll d2). Who ever gets the 2 picks first between the two. ??
Brahmah Saturday September 11th, 2004 5:47:57 PM
OOC: Rolling a d2 should break the tie.
Kale d12=2 Saturday September 11th, 2004 6:31:23 PM
"At last, treasure." Kale says with a clenched fist as he looks at the piles of loot(rolled an 2)
Zeoll d2=2 d2=2 Saturday September 11th, 2004 7:29:20 PM
Zeoll likes Brahmah's idea to resolve ties! "I'll flip this coin to see who wins. Of Flat-top and me, heads [even] is Flat-top!" ... he flips the coin ... "heads is "Flat-top!"
"And now between Leets and Gecktarr ... heads is Leets ... and heads is Leets!"
The picking order is now:
Kanchana -- 11 Brahmah -- 9 Flat-top -- 4+ Zeoll -- 4- Kale -- 2 Leets -- 1+ Gecktar -- 1- Toros -- gets the last remining pile.
"Kanchana, you get first pick, then Brrahmah, Flat-top, me, Kale, Leets, Gecktarr, and Torros. Take yourr pick!"
Brahmah Monday September 13th, 2004 4:26:03 AM
OOC: I choose Loot Pile #1.
On Brahmah's Honor, he'll pay back Pile #8 upon returning from the Catacombs.
Kanchana Monday September 13th, 2004 6:26:45 AM
Kanchana carefully looks over the piles of loot and finally after a long bout of thinking decides to take pile # 7. Her reasoning? It seemed more suitable for a druid...
"I have decided to take the pile listed as #7. Whoever is next doesn't have to wait for me to make up my mind any more."
The druidess seems happy with her choice.
((I choose:
Loot Pile Seven: amulet of natural armor+1 (2000) ring of protection +1 (2000) gray bag of tricks (900) warp wood scroll - 3rd (125) fire trap scroll - 3rd (125) euphoria scroll - 3rd (125) hornet's nest scroll - 2nd (50) obscuring mist scroll - 1st (25) gold (915) Loot Pile 2 owes me (1025.4).))
Zeoll Monday September 13th, 2004 6:39:18 AM
"My guess is that Flat-top will take Loot Pile Two -- the morningstarr!" Zeoll smiles at his friend as he says that.
"My prreferrence is for Loot Pile Six -- I would love that pearrl and that rring of prrotection."
Choices so far:
Kanchana -- 11 -- Loot Pile Seven Brahmah -- 9 -- Loot Pile One Flat-top -- 4+ -- Loot Pile Two? Zeoll -- 4- -- Loot Pile Six Kale -- 2 Leets -- 1+ Gecktar -- 1- Toros -- gets the last remining pile.
Flat-top Monday September 13th, 2004 7:15:26 AM
Flat-top Pick up The Morningstar ang rubs his hand all over it. "Yes! Domi want me to have this weapon." Flat-top chooses Pile #2 with the Morninstar+2 and will owe Kanchana 1025.4gp.
Flat-top opens his money pouch and gives the gold to Kanchana "Here! Kitten is your money." Smiling all the time. But as he look back into his money pouch and see only 5gp a few silver and copper, thinks to himself 'Females are sure expensive'.
Gecktar Monday September 13th, 2004 11:54:49 AM
Gecktar waits for Kale then Leets to take their loot. Whatever they'll leave, he will be happy to have some magical items or cash.
Leets Monday September 13th, 2004 2:12:46 PM
Leets waits for kale, and tells Gecktar:
"You can take any one of the two that will remain my friend...Both seem to have good things, and anyway, as long as it remains in the party, I'm happy..."
Zeoll Monday September 13th, 2004 7:36:36 PM
After dividing the loot, Zeoll spends the next couple days visiting the Catacombs again and training his crocodile. He makes sure it knows how to heel and not fight with or eat his friends!
Toros (the recent fugitive) - OOC d6=6 Monday September 13th, 2004 9:07:51 PM
Finally I am on computer and line again. Hope for a long time I will not have any more computer issues, more than I can handle, since I have spent so much time recently dealing with several of them, trying to make use of the comparatively free time. Again thank you for your patience.
Also thank you indeed Zeoll and Cayzle for this arduous work about the loot and the suggestion about how to be a good Bard. For the loot, I am happy to take the remaining pile, as from the previous Loot the sharing was very generous for me. For the Bard spells, I am still thinking to take the illusion (L1) and ghost sound (L0), assuming that the Chosen Party may need them, and there is noone among us who has these spells. For the second L1 spell, I still do not know... but here in front of you I roll my next level Bard hit die, 1d6, 6. Hope this makes it harder to die.
Another Day Older and Deeper in Debt. (DM Jim) Monday September 13th, 2004 11:31:39 PM
The group has taken care of the loot and divided it up among their number. The days wear on and the group find themselves stifled a little in the big city. There are many things to distract them though.
The temple of Domi is not too far away and now open for business. The gardens are a nice place to spend time relaxing and getting ready for whatever maybe next for the group.
Kale Tuesday September 14th, 2004 12:51:24 AM
looking over the remaining piles, Kale says "Ill take pile #4."
Leets Tuesday September 14th, 2004 2:08:02 AM
Leets considers piles #3 and #5...
"Gecktar...I already have the shield Domi offered me, so I leave you #5..."
Leets takes pile #3...
Gecktar Tuesday September 14th, 2004 2:21:11 AM
"Its fine for me my friend" says Gecktar to Leets. And he takes the pile #5.
"I need some time to train and maybe do some exchange in the catacombs. So see you later my friends"
First Gecktar goes to the temple of Domi to see if it is open and will pray for a while, and thanks Domi for his help in giving him these magic stuff. Second he will maybe go to the catacombs to see if he can buy some new stuff.
Solgrin and Rozca Tuesday September 14th, 2004 4:31:07 PM
Solgrin spends the day in his teachers library doing some reasearch.
Rozca tells Solgrin "Boss I think they are all done with the pretty things."
Brahmah Tuesday September 14th, 2004 5:25:16 PM
Brahmah walks the cloisters of the Temple and sits in on a service or two (He disarms within the temple out of respect, leaving his weapons and armor in a safe place in the foyer). He ponders many things of the past weeks and soon finds peace in the situation.
OOC: He also can't wait to spend his portion of the booty. :) Tell me when we can spend our share. ---------------------- Loot Pile One: composite longbow+2 (8500) I Owe Loot Pile 8: 1209.4)
Pile #8 not claimed.
Kanchana Tuesday September 14th, 2004 6:52:17 PM
Kanchana will pull Solgrin aside for a private conversation. Other than that she will be counting the days until they can leave this unnatural place. Kanchana will spend some free time trying to train Ilder a few useful things as well.
Zeoll d20+6=20 Tuesday September 14th, 2004 8:33:11 PM
Zeoll spends today looking for other Taurs in this town, starting with Solgrin. "My frriend," he asks the centaur, "I am interrested in Taurrs acrross the Wold, since Domi tells us that we arre all brrotherrs and sisterrs. Could you intrroduce me to any you might know?"
Zeoll follows up on any leads, looking for Taurs who have ended up so far frrom the Taur Isles. Or maybe their ancestors came from the lost Taur homeland?
[Gather Info check is a 20!]
Toros Tuesday September 14th, 2004 9:21:55 PM
Pile #8 is Toros's then.
Toros starts to play with his new gear, almost droping and breaking the blur potion while he was shaking and throwing it to air in order to make better sense of it.
The Long Wait. (DM Jim) Wednesday September 15th, 2004 12:22:10 AM
The day wears on and on. The group maybe starting to feel a little sick for the open and maybe a little adventure.
Zeoll finds out that there are several taurs in The Float and with many different jobs. He is able to track down a merchant, weaponsmith and even a baker with Solgrin's help and talking to the locals.
[Keep up the good roleplay and will be looking for character sheets in the email from some of you soon. :) Let's say to try and have them in within a week from today, if that seems no problem.]
[You may also head for the Catacombs to sell off any of your booty that you wish and purchase different items.]
Flat-top Wednesday September 15th, 2004 10:10:29 AM
Flat-top is very restless, he practice with his new weapon and likes the balance of it. He spends the rest of the day eating, running and staying in battle shape.
He misses the Uni-taurs, he would like to see them one more time, but he knows that they must get use to their new home. All is left for him is to wait to be called by Domi.
Solgrin Wednesday September 15th, 2004 4:48:03 PM
Solgrin spends part of the day with Zeoll as Zeoll goes around the Float meeting the taurs living here. "What has it been like for you as on e of the Chosen Zeoll?" Solgrin asks.
The other part of the day Solgrin will spend some of it talking with Kanchana.
Afterwards Solgrin will talk with those Chosen that return to the home for a meal asking them as a group "Where shall we go now?"

Elder(ceil) Wednesday September 15th, 2004 8:03:45 PM
Kanchana is trying to teach her pet on how to wash his face and paws before he eats, then how to groom himself. Which berries to pick for himself. The littla weasel sit up with a look of intrest on his face and listens. But all the time wodering when is mama going to feed him??
Crock(ceil) Wednesday September 15th, 2004 8:16:42 PM
In the under ground lakes the crock listens to what Zeoll is trying to teach him. He think 'Oh! sure, don't eat the dog, don't eat the weasel, don't eat the fork tung slimer. I wonder what I can eat? How about that black and white Centaur? He look bad enough to eat!'
Toros d20=10 Wednesday September 15th, 2004 8:43:43 PM
Zeoll, may I ask a question that I always want to ask you, if you dont mind:
I noticed that your saying of "r" is a bit different, longer than usual. For me it is something verry nice of you, although for a perrson that has heart about your stories - like me- at firrst it was something I would neverrr thought, but now I feel I have also sometimes started to do like that. I wonder how you do think about this characteristic of yourrs...
I hope I did not offend you, it is just curriosity of mine, that I ask this question.
Toros tries to be charming enough not to make a big mistake against Zeoll. (d20, 10 + 2 = 12)
Kanchana Wednesday September 15th, 2004 9:17:30 PM
Kanchana continues her talk with Solgrin.
Zeoll d20+20=23 Wednesday September 15th, 2004 9:38:52 PM
For a moment Zeoll looks discouraged at Toros's questions -- his tail drags on the ground -- but not offended at him or angry at all. He answers Toros in wemic, in which he has no accent at all.
"Forgive me if I seem sad, brother. Even among our own people, the stories have faded and memory dwindles. Long ago we were a noble folk, living not on a small island but on vast plains. But we sinned against Tomi and our fellow Taurs, and our penance now is to be the least of the three kindreds, the least in numbers and majesty. Many of our people do not know this, and many have chosen to forget it, or to deny it. They do not accept that we sinned."
"Part of our mission under Tomi's will, I believe, is to face our past and make peace among our fellow Taurs."
"In the heart of Liontaur Isle, away from the alien shore, some of your kin have tried to keep to the old ways. They hunt and live as nomadic a life as they can, dreaming of gazelle and rhino, then waking to rabbit and fox."
"Those are my people. They hew to the old ways, not reading or writing, not engaging in trade, not sailing away. But their numbers have been greatly diminished -- both by the fierce attacks by hell hounds that plague them, and by the flight of young ones to the civilized coasts, where many become merchants and sailors."
"I won't say that modern liontaurs have lost their way, but ai think there is a truth in the old traditions. So you see that in my mane I wear the old-style beads and feathers that reveal me as a priest, of the Nonowla pride that has been destroyed, and of the Aene Clan." He shows Toros the beads that mean each of these things.
Zeoll switches over to common. "And we of the hearrtland seldom speak in the common tongue of men. When we do, we twist it arround ourr pointed teeth and it comes out as you hearr me speak it. I think it's a naturral accent, since it suits the shape of ourr mouths. Even those brrought up away frrom theirr kin speak sometimes speak with the brroaderr sound."
[OOC: My other liontaur character, Vauhwyt, was seperated from her family and all other Taurs at a very young age. But she still speaks with the broader R from time to time, especially if it appears at the end of a sentence.]
==========
Zeoll is glad to engage Solgrin in conversation, and seems happy to hear the questions. "You must know, my fellow Chosen, that I was only rrecently rreturrned frrom the Lands of Rrest. I died beforre the Yearr of Ascension. But I well rremeberr the wonderrful days when the Chosen werre firrst drrawn by Domi to his serrvice. It was not easy forr us, racial enemies of old, to learrn to worrk togetherr, but Domi inspirred us. Then we werre rewarrded with a home on Brridge Island, and we werre honorred with the Healed Hearrt of Domi, which had been sunderred. In those naive days we thought that healing the Sunderred Hearrt would heal ourr peoples, but alas, afterr I died the Hearrthold Keep fell, and we became rrefugees."
A cloud passes over his face. "I have forrgiven my frriends, but I still feel in my hearrt that they let me down when they did not rraise me. Who knows? Maybe in defense of ourr home I might have helped turrn the tide? But that is now past."
He continues, with determination in his voice. "It is still my goal to rreturrn home and set things to rrights. That's why I trry to seek out Taurrs wherreverr we go, to sprread the message that all Taurrs arre one kind, one rrace."
Zeoll tells Solgrin the stories of the early days of the Chosen. He especially enjoys the story of how Domi Himself took this greatsword -- he displays it -- blessed it, and gave it back to Zeoll. The Wold has moved on, and priests like Zeoll no longer use such weapons, but through Domi's grace he has kept the gift and still uses it. [OOC: that's why Zeoll -- a druid -- can use a greatsword!]
Zeoll talks to the Taurs that Solgrin introduces him to, and offers blessings and stories [Diplomacy 23]. He asks for the names of the Taurs he meets, and hopes to see them again in the future.
[OOC: Ceil, thanks for helping play Croc. Remember that he is brave and stupid!]
Brahmah Thursday September 16th, 2004 12:54:25 AM
He feeds Pah'caw whenever she returns.
Brahmah ponders life.
Leets Thursday September 16th, 2004 2:20:01 AM

"Here it is, my dog, you did a good job!"
Gecktar Thursday September 16th, 2004 2:49:03 AM
Hearing the speech of Zeol with Solgrin, Gecktar realizes that the he has still in charge the Heart of Domi. Thinking that this is the right of every Chosen to see it, he take it from his pack and the bring it in the light putting it on a table.
"Here's the Heart of Domi... and buy our actions should it never fade."
He pauses for a moment giving the time for other around here to see it and maybe send a prayer to Domi.
Flat-top Thursday September 16th, 2004 7:03:40 AM
Flat-top steping around the Croc, watching him. "I wonder where you came from??". As he watch the Croc, Flat-top swears that he saw the big lizard lick his teeth. But as he come accross Zeoll and Torros, he tell the both of them. "Zeoll, I must tell you that it was not our idea to try to bring you back. By the time the battle was over, we had to your body to rest. We never forgotten you, we missed you greatly. But when we saw you back with us, to help battle those four Red Wyrms so our Taur mothers and Unitaurs to be safe from all three High Cleric. They united to put a price on our heads for something we never did. Those cleric still want those Children and kill us all if they can. Domi want you back here for a reason, your job with us is not done yet. And as for Toros! you do slur you 'R's' every now and then and you don't notice it, don't stop I like it."
Kale Thursday September 16th, 2004 10:23:46 AM
"When are we going to leave this place? Im tired of looking at all these ugly humans." Kale says to no one in paticular.
Zeoll Thursday September 16th, 2004 1:46:20 PM
Zeoll goes off to visit the Catacombs, and comes back almost as fast.
"Hey everrybody! Gosh darrn it! Turrns out Brrahmah's Bow and my so-called Rring of Featherr Falling are currsed! We have to take all the items to the Catacombs to find out if any of the rrest arre currsed. The Catacombs will tell you forr frree if they arre!"
"I guess it is only fairr to rredivide all the loot again afterr that! What a pain in the rrump!"
