Onrad
Thursday September 9th, 2004 3:02:54 PM

Onrad will primarily block those to the right of the matron from getting to Gareth (seen the map now.) He'll work on the others to the left if he can from his position behind Gareth.

DM kent  d100=16 d20+8=11 d20+15=24 d20+6=12 d20+15=31 11d6(6+5+1+2+2+5+2+2+1+2+2)+15=45

(OOC: Sorry about lack of post last night I was having some personal problems last night)

Most of the male drow seem a bit unsure of what they should be doing and ho they should be doing it to, but the 9 young warriors that brough the matron into the camp seem to be following he orders and moving forward to help control the other drow and confront any combatants.

The Matron looks a bit unsure as Jandar attempts to turn her and she even takes part of a step away, but turns back at him with a mot feral grin. "Yes He said you were powerful. He also said that you will make a great ally."

As she finishes speaking Tericus' ray of light strikes her but seems to be shunted off in another direction. Again she shows that very feral grin.

She continues her move forward and stops as she meets Turian and he tries to run her through with his sword but misses badly. The Maton simply reaches out and give the drow commander a shove that sends him backwards 15 or so fet where he lies unmoving on the ground.

It is then that Gareth arrives, opening himself up to an attack of opportunity as she reaches out and touches him AC 31 Fortitude save DC 24 or be paralyzed.

Almost immediately following that a barrier of whirling blades springs up in front of her (blade barrier) Gareth needs to make relfex save DC 22 or take 45 points damage save for 22

Onrad arrives behind Gareth only to see that the other baddies are not closing on him or the matron but 5 of them seem to have dropped their swords, converged and surrounded Jus, where a glowing dome of energy seems to surround them all, while two other are facing Nonan and one while tossing aside three drow as if they were kindling arrives directly beside Tericus.

From Fai'fasal's hut you hear both a verbal scream and all hear a mental scream as well as Lisseth makes her displeasure known.

"What is THAT doing in MY camp!!!!!

suddenly Fai'fasal appears in his doorway sword in hand, eyes open as large as you have ever seen, nearly being dragged toward the Matron.

Tericus, Jus and Nonan all get an attack of opportunity.

(ooc: Can anyone play Jus this week?)

The warrior takes the Matron's touch without so much as a flinch. Focusing on her he misses blade barrier and gets hammered (45 DMG). He moves immediately to the side of the Matron out of the blades and proceeds to wail on her using double fisted blows with Max (Hit AC 37,32,43,26 for 21+27+21+29 DMG).

Jandar  d20+18=38
Friday September 10th, 2004 1:36:15 AM

Jandar smiles at the Matron and, seeing Gareth has her in close, he turns to focus on what is happening to Jus. He's unsure of what is happening, but knows it cannot be good. He casts 'Greater Dispel Magic' on the dome of enegy(DC 38, nat 20). He then will move as close as possible without inviting an attack of opportunity from them.

Addinein AC 32 HP 82  d20+5=7 d20+6=14
Friday September 10th, 2004 2:32:49 AM

Now in the middle of combat, Addinein takes care of himself. He pulls out his wand of Shield and taps himself.

Trying to think of ways to expose the Matron. Addinein tries to consider what spells are currently being used on herself, and/or the warriors that are accompanying her. (Knowledge (Arcana) =7 Spellcraft= 14).

Seeing Fai'fasal coming to the fray, Addinein adds, "Fai'fasal, command your troops, let them know what they are to do. The Matron has commanded that they should destroy the Storms."

Worried about his friends around the Matron, Addinein keeps his eyes on the drow that the Storms had just met. He'll keep an eye out for any of the drow that decide to attack his friends while they try to take out the drow.

Tericus  d20+12=32 d20+12=20 d8=5 d8=6
Friday September 10th, 2004 7:25:12 AM

swing out with his mace, Tericus connects solidly with the undead warrior(hit ac32, possible critical with a 20, for 5 and 6 pts of damage). then Tericus says quietly, "You dont know what your dealing with." then casts heal on the undead warrior, causing 160 pts of damage, will save of 21 to negate.

Nonam (AC29, SR19, globe of invuln, stoneskin)  5d4(3+4+3+3+4)+5=22 d20+19=29
Friday September 10th, 2004 9:51:41 AM

"Um, guys with swords attacking me!"

Nonam casts a quickened magic missile at irritating undead warrior #1, which in turn triggers his contingency spell and instanly protects himself with a stoneskin. (22dmg)

Then the wizard casts control undead on the two abominations standing before him, and he gives his first command, "Defend me."

[He can control up to 34HD, so if the two exceed that, he could only effect one of them. Will save DC25 to negate, overcomes SR29]

Jandar
Friday September 10th, 2004 1:53:47 PM

Jandar yells to Onrad,"Big boy can handle the wench, help Nonam! He's getting swamped and we don't want his robes to get dirty!"

He's grinning at Nonam as he says this, only because he hasn't been attacked yet.

Onrad [AC38]  d20+33=41 2d6(4+2)+14=20 d20+34=50 d20+34=52 2d6(2+4)+14=20 2d6(1+6)+14=21 2d6(3+1)+14=18
Saturday September 11th, 2004 12:06:36 AM

"Jus can melee for a bit. I'm clearing Nonam to act first."

Activating his boots of speed as a free action, Onrad turns racing to Nonam. He tumbles up onto the table thus taking a more direct line to get there.

Hopping down beside Nonam's left, he neatly pricks the closest one to him with his first attack and his second "boots of speed" extra attack.

He selects the closest opponent as his Selected Target for his Dodge feat adding +1 to AC vs. him [AC39]

The first stab hits AC 41 [d20+33=41] doing 20hpd [2d6(4+2)+14=20] if hit hits.

The second stab hits AC 50 [d20+34=50] which it if hits is a possible crit (possible crit roll hits [Woot!] AC52 [d20+34=52]. The damage if it hits is X3 doing 59hpd [2d6(2+4)+14=20 2d6(1+6)+14=21 2d6(3+1)+14=18]

[Boots of Speed Activated Round 1]

Nonam
Saturday September 11th, 2004 10:46:24 AM

Worried that Onrad's attacks might upset his spell, Nonam shouts, "Wait to see if my spell works!"

Jus [Sub Jay B]
Saturday September 11th, 2004 5:40:49 PM

As he is surrounded, Jus activates his glove and draws his sun blade sword. (He goes defensive for the round)

(Not sure of his AC, he has +6 shield on his PC sheet, but you can't use anything but a buckler when your two weapon fighting. I'm having difficulty deciphering his sheet too.)

he has a +5 mithril small shield and takes the AC penalty if fighting with two weapons, which is rare. -jk

Matron - AC 31 & lots of spells in place, Drow Vamps - AC26 & some spells in place  d20+4=10 d20+6=9 d20+6=25
Monday September 13th, 2004 6:03:24 PM

Addenien's perusal of the Matron is not as clear as he would normally expect, but he can tell that she has a number of precast spells cast on her person. The three he knows for certain as he has seen them on his fellows before are stoneskin, True sight and some sort of protection spell.

His call to Fai'fasal seems to get some response, though perhaps not the one he wanted, as the drow leader sword held at the ready is now running straight toward the matron.

Gareth strikes out at the matron apparently conneting with 3 of his strikes, but doesn't seem to affect her as much as they perhaps should have.

Jandar sees that Gareth seems to be at least holding his own for a moment and casts a dispel magic at the dome. It is obvious that it worked as suddenly there is a blinding light and it seems as theough there was another spell layered underneath as there is now a brightly shimmering multi-colored dome in the place of the other one.

Tericus turns at visciously attack the creature about to attack him and smiles grimly as he watches his attack and spell take effect. The creature is visibly shaken and before Jandar can think about acting again it turns mist-like and is suddenly out of range.

Nonan casts his magic missile and watches it strike #1 and then casts his next spell He feels the spell start to take hold on both creatures and then feels one snap loose from his hold. #1 momentarily stops still for a moment and then turns and takes a defensive posture as Onrad comes tumbling toward Nonan.

Onrad hears Nonan's warnings and at the same time sees one of the creatures truning to intercept him as he comes to Nonan's aid. Nimbly applying his rapier skills he lashes out twice and connects twice with his foe. who stands there with his broadsword held steadily in both hands.

Jus draws his sunblade and readies his shield wincing a bit at the sudden appearance of the bright rainbow colored dome.

The Matron smiles a smile at Gareth as if to wish him a nice day and reaches out to touch him and manages to grab hold of his shoulder AC 33. Gareth can feel the negative energy coursing through him. (Fortitude save DC 21 or die- Slay living if save 36 points damage)

Nonan, having dealt with one of his foes is facing his secon with a bastard sword that is being wielded in what seems to be a very professional manner. The Vampire lashes out with its sword and connects solidly with the mage and then just nips some of the hair off of Nonams head with his second swing. his final thrust goes wide as Nonan looks at his side where there is now blood flowing. AC32 Damage 18

Onrad is now faced with a vampire that is apparently trying to shield Nonan from him and is lashed out at several times. The first thrust is just wide of the mark and the return cut is actually quite clumbsy, however the third strike manages to find its way through Onrad's defenses (natural 20) for 17 points of damage

Jus is in a world of trouble as he faces five opponents in an enclosed space. For some reason however they have not drawn their swords and instead are attacking him naturally. As he is ready and waiting for the attacks his defensive readiness is apparent as three of the five manage to miss him and be turned away for a moment, the other two however slam into him extremely solidly AC 35 (possible crit)crit roll AC 30 for 13 points damage and AC 30 for 5 points. As he is struck though he feels a strange lethargy, as if the strength and power is being sapped from him. 2 Fort saves DC 19 or lose 4 levels

Fai'Fasal comes chrging toward the Matron and comes to a screeching halt as the sword realizes there is a barrier of blades and Gareth between him and her.

As the combat rolls around the compound many of you are aware that there is a lot more going on around you than you thought. It seems that some other shambling creatures are now attacking the drow that were starting to fight the Matron's forces.

The triplets have backed off and are in conference together obviously readying for an attack.

Wyx, Aexior, and Benric have move in along with some of their warriors to combat the warriors that came in with the Matron and two others are standing over the still prostrate Tomian.

"Sorry Nonam," Onrad chirps as one breaks free from Nonam's hold.

Onrad then continues to tear into #1 in front of him.

His first attack hits AC 43 [d20+33=43] doing 20hpd [2d6(3+3)+14=20] if it hits.

His second attack hits AC47 [d20+28=47] which is a possible crit [rolled a 19]. The possible crit roll hits AC44 [d20+28=44]. If this is a hit, but not a crit, it does 20hpd [2d6(3+3)+14=20]. If it is a crit it does 62hpd [2d6(3+3)+14=20 2d6(6+1)+14=21 2d6(3+4)+14=21].

His third attack hits AC36 [d20+23=36]. If it hits, it does 17hpd [2d6(1+2)+14=17].

His fourth attack hits AC20 probably missing [d20+18=20]. If that chances to hit, it does 24hpd [2d6(5+5)+14=24].

His fifth attack due to boots of speed hits AC51 [d20+34=51] which is a possible crit. The possible crit roll hits AC48 [d20+34=48]. If that is a hit, but not a crit, it does 21hpd [2d6(2+5)+14=21. If it is a crit it does 63hpd [2d6(2+5)+14=21 2d6(3+4)+14=21 2d6(6+1)+14=21].

Onrad then grins at #1 whether he is standing or dead again and motions to him saying, "What'cha got ugly. I got places to be."

Monday September 13th, 2004 8:25:06 PM

Nonam orders the vampire under his control to attack the vampire attacking him. "Ignore the human and
destroy this undead creature attacking me."

Then the wizard casts another spell, sunburst, centered between Jus and the matron.

(80 ft radius is probably going to hit everyone, creatures in the globe are blinded and take 21 pts dmg, undead take 65 pts dmg, any undead harmed by sunlight are destroyed if they miss the save - reflex save DC28 negates blindness and halves damage.)

(38 on concentration check, hero pt used after rolling a 1 (the 29))

(5 percentage rolls to cast in armor for this time and the few I forgot about before this round - all successful)

[is #1 or #2 under my control? It's probably the one Onrad just attacked, isn't it?]

[And was the stoneskin effective or not?]

Jandar
Monday September 13th, 2004 11:55:57 PM

Jandar, not wanting to take a chance on a spell not going right, whips out his rod of Negation and uses it on the multi-colored dome surrounding Jus. He yells out,"Keep me up on your condition. I can't watch everyone, and will heal you if needed! For now, Jus is in a tough spot."

Tericus
Tuesday September 14th, 2004 12:45:54 AM

(OOC, i think you put Jandar's name in Tericus's place)

seeing that Jus is easily in the most trouble, Tericus moves as close as he can to Jus and casts Holy Aura to help them fight off the vampires(kent im not able to open the maps you have sent so im playing blind here. if i dont have enough movement to get within 20 ft of Jus ill do a full move to get there, otherwise i cast Holy Aura, which will effect myself, Jus, and anyone else that is within a 20ft radius of me.it gives us +4 to AC and saves against evil creatures and spells, 25 spell resistance against spells cast by evil creatures, blocks possession and mental influence from evil creatures, and any evil creature that succeeds on a melee attack must make a Fort save of 23 or be blinded.)

The warrior grimaces at the attack and doesn't stop. He moves a bit to his side so Fai'Fasal can get in on the action. He takes 4 more swipes at her hoping Fai'Fasal will do some damage (Hit AC 37,38,32,42 for 27,29,21,22 DMG).

DM Kent
Tuesday September 14th, 2004 5:31:01 PM

(OOC: Ok guys, I have DM'd before and I have Dm'd you all before. I am aware of how spells work and their protections. If they are posted in your post somewhere or in the name field then the effects are noted and applied when applicable. If something's effects are not taken, then I expect there is a good reason and as often as not if you read my posts you will see the reason somewhere in there.

Also, unless I specify otherwise the spells you cast work as described. That said, there will be times where I make a mistake, after all I am human, However at this point I have made no posting or combat errors. So yes Gareth she has hit you twice because as I posted she has true sight cast on her, Though Gareth doesn't really knows that. And yes Nonan your stoneskin is working fine, so take the damage given and subtract the damage that the the spell protects for each attack.

As for the maps I am not sure what I can do. I am already converting them to word format, but I will attach both the word and the paint files and try to imbed it in the email itself and try things that way. Any other suggestions will be welcome.

Tonite's post will be a bit later than usual due to a dinner I must be going to.)

Under Onrad's onslaught Vamp#1 goes down in a pile of pieces parts however eerily the body parts are still twitching. As #1 falls Nonam feels his control spell dissipate.

Jus lashes out at #7 in front of him in order to limit the number of beasts flanking him down to 2 and connects with everyone of his attacks, but when done he is still facing 5 opponents.

Nonan casts his sunburst and everyone in the compound around the tables is blinded, with the exception of Jus and his opponents.

Onrad, Gareth, Tericus, Jandar, Addinien all roll reflex saves DC 28 or be blinded and take 21 points damage save for half damage and sight.

The matron winces for a moment as the burst of light goes off but obviously can still see and is still standing.

#2 in front of Nonan goes out in a blaze of glory and a peircing shriek.

The majority of the zombies also fall to the ground but so do many of the drow citizens.

Jandar whips out his wand and sends a charge zipping at the globe only to see nothing at all happen. (rod of negation only works on a specified magic item)

Tericus jumps up on the table and gets as close to the scintiating rainbow colored globe and casts his spell and all the Storms but Jus feel the effects of it.

Gareth attack the matron again hitting this time with all four attacks.

[OOC: As I am unfamiliar with this character and certain spells, I have no idea how they might function. I would assume Jus would know whether he could simply walk through the wall. If so, I'd say 'He passes through the Sphere.', instead of taking AoO fromt he vampires. Aw well. Hope John returns sooner rather than later.]

[Would his mantle of spell resistance make a difference walking through the Sphere?] Jus would be unlikely to walk through the wall. It's downright suicidal. No one in their right mind would do it. -JK/Nonam

Jandar curses his stupidity at using the Rod against a Prismatic Sphere. He reminds himself to brush up on spells later. But for now...then the Sunlight hits him, and his sight is gone. Luckily, it is momentary as he shakes the effects off, but just barely. He ponders for a second, then remembers a spell that will help all and hopefully hurt the undead. He casts 'Mass Heal'. (170 points restored to our guys if within 70 ft, 170 pts damage to them if they fail will save and spell res. I figure you know, Kent, but I thought it'd save you some time) Jandar now can see again, so he does a quick once around to see where everyone is.

Before he has a chance to act, Addinein covers his eyes as he sees the light to start to surround him.

With the stoneskin in place, Addinein is not sure what he can do to the Matron. But knowing that there are only two people attacking, Addinein offers himself up as another targer. Closing with the Matron, Addinein trys to throw his weight into the fray and see if he can help out.

Nonan casts his spell and watches as all the red seems to vanish from the dome. He then starts to make his way through the sphere wall readying himself for some major pain and suffering.

His first few steps into the wall are met by what seems to be a waterfall of acid pouring over him. His nimble ness allows him to avoid some of it as he makes his way along but causes him to walk into a bright yellow patch that literally sets his hair on end as he feels an electric charge go through his body. That electric jolt sent him carreening into a green patch that seemed to just sap his strength to continue, but he manages to continue on. Blue, Indigo and Violet each try and work themselves on him but just as he feels himself becoming one with the earthor thinks he is going insane, he thinks of Jus and somehow manages to walk on. After what seems like an eternity but was mere seconds Nonan finds himself on the inside of the sphere, next to Jus facing 5 vampires.

Sphere Nonan
Red - 22 - negated by Cone of Cold
orange - 37 - made save - 20 points of acid damage
Yellow - 29 - made save - 40 points electric damage
Green - 27 - made save - lost 2 points of constitution (as well as all associated HPs)
Blue - 36 - made save
Indigo - 24 - spell resistance effective
Violet - 23 - spell resistance effective

Tericus casts his spell and moves to aid Gareth and Fai'fasal but finds the blade barrier and Wyx in his way.

Addinien too finds his way blocked by The blade barrier and Wyx who is in combat with two drow warrriors.

Onrad waits for someone to give him instructions. Onrad if you move you need to roll for direction as you are very close to the sphere.

Gareth once again is very effective with his attacks onm the Matron and as his last one strikes he sees the shimmer of a stoneskin spell dissipating.

Fai'Fasal Sees the tell tale shimmer and attacks with a vengence but only connects with the his final attack (natural 20)19 points and fort save or die DC 23.

Jus contemplates trying to teleport out of the the sphere but does not do so as with his injuries passing through the sphere might be a sure thing, so instead flings himself into an attack on the vampire in front of him #7 connecting with his first two attacks for a total of 34 points.

-------
The Matron seems to be just about to cast another spell when Fai'fasal and Lisseth strike home and the matron collapses to the ground without a sound. (I can't believe she failed her save she rolled a 1)

In side the sphere is becoming extremely crowded as Nonan joins the other in the 20 foot diameter sphere. His arrival does not seem to aid much as the Vampires are very much focused on Jus, almost as if they were programmed to only see one person.

The five vampires continue slamming Jus with two more connecting this time, for an additional 12 points of damage and two more fortitude saves at DC 19 or lose two levels for each save missed.

Onrad  d20+6=20
Thursday September 16th, 2004 11:25:22 PM

Bemusement changing to frustation and perhaps a bit of panic, Onrad screams, "I need a voice a recognize to tell me what to do!!!!"

He makes a listen check to try and determine where combat is occuring. Rolled a 20 [d20+6=20]

He continues his Total Defense for the moment.

Jandar  d20+10=23
Friday September 17th, 2004 1:39:34 AM

Jandar yells,"Open your eyes! I cast Heal on everyone. Noone should be blind still! Nonam and Jus, if you can hear me...throw the undead through the prismatic sphere. We lack the spells to negate it!"

Jandar will then cast Dispel Magic on the blade barrier.(dc23)

Tericus
Friday September 17th, 2004 9:26:08 AM

seeing that all the undead are destroyed except the ones in the sphere, Tericus will cast Daylight on the sphere, then yells. "Thats all we can do out here!"

Nonam (AC33, SR25, stoneskin, holy aura)  6d6(5+3+4+3+5+1)=21 17d6(5+2+2+6+6+5+4+6+3+6+2+5+3+6+4+2+5)=72 d20+21=34 d100=56
Friday September 17th, 2004 12:12:10 PM

Nonam's ring of evasion helps him avoid most of the damage from the sphere, but he still suffers the con loss.

He looks at Jus with concern and ponders his next spell choice, "Drink a heal potion buddy! I'm here to help."

Nonam casts another sunburst inside the sphere.

(burst blinds and causes 21 dmg or 72 dmg to undead, undead harmed by sunlight are destroyed if they miss the save - reflex DC28 for 1/2 and to negate blindness/destruction)

(overcomes SR34)

(56% (successful) to cast in armor)

(hp=103/111 - I think. -8 from vampire with sword (stoneskin prevented 10), jumped through sphere before mass heal cast, evasion negates dmg from orange and yellow rays, then -17 hp from con loss. That sound right?)

Jus (Glove active 2 rounds; Boots active (+1AC/2hit/dodge); Displacement: 50% miss chance; AC 33; SR 21; 9 hero points; 75HP-41dam+10glove = 44HP; -2 levels = 33HP, -2att/sav/skill)  d20+10=11 d20+10=17 d20+10=20 d20+10=11 d20+10=21 d100=91
Friday September 17th, 2004 11:22:47 PM

Missed saves, two hero point rerolls, one still misses 2 negative levels

Jus curses as he realizes he won't be able to take much more of this pounding. With the globe around him, it doesn't look like he has much choice. That is, until Nonam makes his sudden surprise appearance.

"What took you so long, you crazy fool?" Jus quips, completely shocked that he is completely not surprised to see Nonam walk through a Prismatic Globe.

Nonam's suggestion concerning a heal potion sounds great, but Jus is more concerned about getting hit. If all five of these evil goons manage to hit him and drain levels, he is gone no matter how many hit points he has.

So, Jus quickly activates his Boots of Speed, using their boost to enhance his dodging. He then casts Displacement on himself, with hopes its benefit gives him time to heal soon [Displacement = 50% miss change on each attack; Concentration check made, no AoO; Armor check passed, spell succeeds].

Jus then has a horrid thought. Keiran, Jus quickly thinks to the dragon, hoping it is nearby. These spawn appear to be focused on me. I fear this may mean your mother or father has been killed by the lich and they are now after you. Be careful and hoard your trust!

Onrad
Saturday September 18th, 2004 9:10:54 AM

"Doh! I can see!"

Onrad seeing Jus dive through the sphere decides he can risk it too through some strange logic the universe will never understand.

So Onrad tumbles into the sphere trying to take up a position to protect Jus.

(Let me know what saves I need to make Kent. I'll check back periodically over the weekend.)

At the conclusion of Jandar's spell, all the indigo color dissipataes from the sphere leaving only orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet.

Onrad seeing this charges toward the sphere and hits it full speed trying to pas through it. Time seems to come to a stop for him as a number of things seem to happen to him at the same time.

[If Onrad has any spell resistance I need to know the amount and then I need him to make five saves; 2 reflex, 2 fortitude and 1 will, at DC 23]

orange - 40 points of acid damage reflex save for half
Yellow - 80 points electric damage reflex for half
Green - Death or Fortitude save and lose 5 points of constitution (as well as all associated HPs)
Blue - turned to stone or Fotitude sane and spell is negated
Violet - all objects within the sphere are destroyed and all creatures sent to the plane of shadow, will save negates effect.

Nonan casts his spell and three of the vampires scream in agony and become medium sized piles of ashes. the other two sream in agony but now look really pissed off.

Jus needs to ,ake reflex save DC 28 as well or take 21 point and be blind save for 10 points and vision.

Jus catches a sleepy tendril of thought from Kieran in response to his warning. Really? No, they're alright whereever they are. Hey, how did I know that? Do you need my aid?

Outside the sphere there are many wounded and even more dead filling the camp. Fai'fasal's clan now seems to number only around twenty or so now, and Tormain is still lying still on the ground. Wix Benric and Axior, while all wounded are still alive and they are starting to organize the rest of the camp attending to wounded and removing the dead.

Jandar  3d8(3+6+4)+17=30
Monday September 20th, 2004 12:21:19 AM

Seeing he can do no more for those in the sphere and that all the undead outside the sphere are gone, Jandar tuens his attention to the injured drow lying around the camp. He yells so he can be heard,"Get those who can be moved or move themselves in a semi close area and I'll heal a bunch at one time. First though, I need to know who is close to death and needs immediate attention, so, if you are still able to move, find your brothers and sisters who need it first."

While they are finding the really injured, he walks to an area that is closest to a large number and casts 'Cure Serious, Mass' on the area.(30 hp back)

Nonam (AC33, SR25, stoneskin, holy aura)  17d6(4+5+5+2+3+1+5+5+4+6+6+3+3+4+2+1+6)=65 d20+21=36 d100=48
Monday September 20th, 2004 10:49:21 AM

"Onrad, don't walk through this. I have it under control. Kill the undead out there."

Nonam casts chain lightning, but he utilizes his mastery of elements to shift the energy of the spell to fire. The flames burst from his fingertips and arc from one vampire in the sphere to the other.

[65 dmg to the first, 32 to the second, ref dc26 for 1/2, overcomes SR36, 48% to cast in armor)

[the prismatic sphere must be brought down in order. red then orange then yellow etc. So, as much as I'd like the indigo to come down, it shouldn't.
-Onrad has 25SR from Tericus' spell]

Kent (oops, see what happens when the DM is exhausted. As it was my error, It can remain as stated.)

Jus (Glove active 3 rounds; Boots active 2 rounds (+1AC/2hit/dodge); Displacement: 50% miss chance; AC 33; SR 21; 9 hero points; 75HP-41dam+10glove = 44HP; -2 levels = 33HP, -2att/sav/skill)  d20+17=29 d20+29=49 d20+22=42 d20+17=19 d20+12=20 d20+29=31 d20+29=43 d20+22=39 7d10(10+2+7+7+7+5+8)+13=59

Jus's attacks drops the vamp he is facing to the ground and Nonan's spell drops the other.

As the last Vampire drops to the ground so does the Sphere.

Onrad spell resistane fails for the first three colors but alows him to pass through the last two with no difficulty. I still need 2 reflex and one fort save at DC23 for orange yellow and green.

Gareth
Monday September 20th, 2004 10:11:41 PM

The warrior takes stock of the aftermath. He nods to Fai'Fasal "Nice weapon you have there. So what will it be? Do you take your family to the city or do you come with us to face Morlas?".

Addinein
Monday September 20th, 2004 11:04:19 PM

(busy weekend)

Feeling bad for this lack of usefulness. Addinein works on getting any drow that show any signs of life, and getting them to where Jandar can cast on them.

Onrad  d20+33=39 2d6(6+5)+13=24
Tuesday September 21st, 2004 12:04:03 PM

[Kent, please make the saves for me. I"m at school and in training at night last night an tonight. Not getting home until after 10PM. I don't have my character sheet here so i don't know my saves by memory.]

Assuming that Onrad is not turned to stone, (and he will use all but one hero point to help with the save vs. stone) he attacks once hitting AC 39 (rats) [d20+33=39] for 24hpd [2d6(6+5)+13=24] to the one that appears to be the most dangerous for Jus....if that hits.

Nonam (AC33, SR25, stoneskin, holy aura)
Tuesday September 21st, 2004 3:07:36 PM

Nonam looks over at Onrad, "Hey buddy, he's already dead. That's why he's flat on his back like that."

Then Nonam surveys the situation in the hall. How are his comrades? How are the drow? And are there any zombies left?

Onrad fails the first save and takes 40 points of acid damage, makes the second save and only ake 40 points of electric damage. He also make the last save and while he doesn't die he does lose 5 points of constitution and the associated hit points.

In his pain he starts hacking at the downed bodies until Nonan points out the fact that their are already dead.

With Addinien's help Jandar is able to get all the remaining drow on their feet with only some minor injuries remaining which their one remaining healer starts working on.

Fai'Fasal turns at Gareth's question and responds. "Both I think." I will come with you, But I think I will send the remainder of my people under Turian's guidance back to the city."

It is now about 2 PM.

Tericus  d4=3
Wednesday September 22nd, 2004 12:13:42 AM

Tericus walks over to Onrad and places one hand on his head and chants a quick prayer(lesser restoration, gains back 3 pts of constitution). then he goes over to Nonam and does the same thing(casts restoration, gains back all temporary ability damage), then he says "Anyone else need to be cured(get back levels loss or ability scores)?"

Gareth
Wednesday September 22nd, 2004 7:50:18 AM

The warrior nods to the dark elf. He places his hand on his shoulder. "I am truly sorry for your House's demise. I will see to it that your family is accepted in the city. Then, we will go and deal with Morlas. Once done we will help you and them get a new start in whatever life you choose for yourselves.". The warrior uses his Dragon ring to contact the Overlord and inform her of the newcomers. He makes sure and stand near the clerics as they perform their mass heals and such to have his wounds attended. He leaves instructions with Turian on how to get to the city and who to talk to.

"Gents, its time to go kill a lich or two. Maybe Nonam can write the last chapter in all those books he was reading about our enemies?".

Nonam
Wednesday September 22nd, 2004 10:12:37 AM

"I would prefer to have the chance to rest and memorize spells before we go looking for more trouble. I could go now if necessary, but it isn't advisable."

Gareth
Wednesday September 22nd, 2004 8:47:26 PM

The warrior nods. "Then we rest first.". The warrior begins to set posts for a nightly watch and oges around the camp to make sure there aren't any other enemies lingering around.

Jandar
Wednesday September 22nd, 2004 10:14:24 PM

Jandar will continue along with Tericus to heal and restore levels, until all are fully healed. Between them, they should have ample spells for any left. He offers to take first watch, as he really didn't exert any energy this day. A few spells, some walking, but no physical fighting makes him wonder if he'll remember how to handle his warhammer when he needs to.

Jus
Wednesday September 22nd, 2004 11:14:16 PM

Jus looks at Onrad as the fool tumbler joins Nonam and Jus under the colorful dome.

"Let me guess: some spellcaster feebleminded the both of you? Not that I'm ungrateful --although I did almost have them taken care of myself -- but are you two loony?" This is all said with a grin, belying Jus' words.

"Yea, Tericus," Jus answers his friend, "one of those things touched me a couple of times."

Jus checks the bodies for anything useful, and to ensure they are not vampires that will just regenerate back given a minute or two.

"Anyone know why someone would have a deathwish on me? Having 5 in a PSphere attack me seems like a personal vendetta."

Tericus
Thursday September 23rd, 2004 6:58:01 AM

"Well, they went after me with those giant scorpions last time." Tericus says as he casts restoration on Jus(i can only cast it once, so if Jandar cant cover the rest ill do it in the morning, you get one level back). "Maybe they just want to isolate us one at a time."

Onrad
Thursday September 23rd, 2004 9:31:46 AM

Onrad doesn't answer Jus. He just grins in a wickedly insane way and kisses him wetly on the cheek.

"You did good."

He does a flip up on the table and takes a pretend gaurd posture.

"Now rest. We have lich to kill.....again."

Onrad will take the first watch and then try to rest and sleep.

DM Kent
Thursday September 23rd, 2004 6:28:31 PM

During the late evening after Gareth has contacted the overlord and as much healing that can be accomplished is, Jandar feels like someone is trying to establish some sort of mental link with him. The touch is light, fairly familiar and definitely not evil.

Fai'fasl spends most of his time with his people issuing orders and expectations. Tormian was very badly injured and is not full strength yet, and may never be totally again, but he is confident that he can get his people to the city.

The rest of night passes without incident, Though there is a bit of a hullabaloo when Kirien asks to be let out so he can hunt. Before he leaves he sends a brief message Jus's way. I know you are not trying to use me, at least not purposefully. How did I know my parent were alright? How do I know that my mother is fairly close and that my father is not?

Gareth finds his quiet spot to watch and Max vies for some atention. "Um Boss? Sorry about all that nonsense before, but she can really get a blade steamed. Um, By the way, Lisseth seems to think that there are at least 5 more lichs, other than Morlas, within the region. She also feels them much more strongly than Morlas, whatever that may indicate.

As Tericus and Jus discuss why they seem to be the ones being targeted, Jus realizes that his opponents were not using the big ugly swords they had strapped to their backs, but instead were trying to weaken him and make him vulnerable for some reason.

Quite a few interesting things were found in the piles of ashes, bone, body parts and other remains.

All together left from what were the drowpires, there are 8 sets of unblemished black drow chainmail, 8 nice broadswords, and 8 rings.

Where the Matron was is a pair of bracers, a ring, and a very nice looking heavy Mace.

Addinein
Friday September 24th, 2004 10:07:40 AM

Looking around and listening to the others, Addinein wonders whether he should help out Fai'fasl and Tormain.

While the word goes out that the quickly diminishing drow population will be allowed into the city. Addinein decides to pass the word back to his family also, so that they may prepare a neutral greeting for the new drow. With no idea how long they've been on the surface in this area. They may have information that the city needs.

Not wanting to disrupt the current conversation, Addinein listens in without adding much on his own.

(sorry for my missing)

Nonam
Friday September 24th, 2004 10:08:29 AM

Nonam asks Faifasal if he recognizes the rings or any of the other items.

Jus
Friday September 24th, 2004 3:53:12 PM

[Keiran was already out, let out and not put back in when Jus talked with him before the fight.]

Jus considers the attacks and their focus on Tericus first and now Jus. Unable to come up with any plausable explanations, Jus stores it away for later.

Jus also stores away the information Keiran states that his mom and dad are alive.

Jus rests and reflects. Preparing himself for another day's castings.

Tericus
Friday September 24th, 2004 9:09:50 PM

after talking with Jus, Tericus goes over and eyes the mace. thinking how ironic it would be to use a liche's weapon against them, Tericus casts detect magic on all the items, then he'll cast detect evil on all the items.

Gareth
Monday September 27th, 2004 9:01:50 PM

The warrior looks over the situation and thinks the drow should have first choice on the items. He makes sure everything is in order before bed. He also asks Tericus and Jandar if there is any form of warning that can be set up to detect the liches getting close. And he asks Fai'Fasal to make sure his sword sounds a warning if they get closer.

As the evening winds down he finds himself with his closest friend and ally. "Max, I understand. I am glad you are my blade. I would appreciate it if you would warn me of any enemies that approach while we sleep...". The warrior sleeps once all the conversations are over.

Jandar
Tuesday September 28th, 2004 12:13:31 AM

Jandar responds to Gareth,"I have not memorized any such spell. I focused on healing and restoration, knowing we'd be up against undead. However, I will keep first watch and no undead will sneak in unannounced, I assure you. Sleep well."

Onrad
Tuesday September 28th, 2004 12:55:56 PM

Onrad says, "Jandar, I got first watch. Take the last half of the night."

Onrad stands near Gareth and Jandar standing vigil. He learned long ago it was easier to stay awake if you stood and paced while you thought.

When Jandar relieves him, he gladly goes to sleep.

DM Kent
Tuesday September 28th, 2004 6:10:31 PM

At Nonam's questions, Fai'Fasal looks at the armor and swords. I do not recognize anything as having belonged to any of us.

Tericus checks the items for magic and all 8 sets of unblemished black drow chainmail, 8 nice broadswords, 8 rings, the matron's pair of bracers, ring, and the very nice looking heavy Mace all radiate fairly strong magic of varying type.

With his second spell only the Mace comes back as radiating strong evil.

Jandar's apparent ignoring or rejection of whoever was trying to contact him stops after a while and he has no trouble drifting off to sleep. While asleep he has a wondeful dream filled with silver dragonletts playing in a meadow.

Onrad's watch is trouble free, he wakes Jandar and heads off to catch some shuteye.

Almost immediately upon being woken by Onrad for his watch, Jandar feels a distinct pressure in his head that feels like someone just yelled his name inside of his brain. Once again there is a fairly familiar feel and one that is definitely not evil.

Max's response to Gareth's request is a quick and positive assent, though he says he is pretty sure it will not be a necessity, as none of them are very nearby.

The remaining drow, under the supervision of Tomian, Benric, Axior and Wyx seem to be packing things up and breaking down camp far into the night. It seems that they are going to be moving out at first light.

Fai'Fasal, seesm to have attached himself to you all and has remained in your vicinity after packing a small and compact pack. He is different now than at any other time you have ever dealt with him. Not crazy necessarily, but there is a definite sense of the fatalistic about him and a broader sense of control, of some sort. He certainly is more determined than before and even more decisive, but there is something that just doesn't sit well.

The rest of the night passes without incident and there is a ral breakfast waiting and ready for you all as you wake: Hot clavat, some sort of dried meat and fruit mixture and trail bread.

Jandar
Wednesday September 29th, 2004 1:32:33 AM

Jandar, realizing he wasn't imagining things, concentrates on the contact and listens to any message they might have for him. He takes his watch and roams the camp checking on any who were injured.

Gareth
Wednesday September 29th, 2004 7:14:12 AM

The warrior sleeps and takes his watch when it is his time. He keeps an eye on Fai'Fasal and asks him for his thoughts when they are both awake.

Jus
Wednesday September 29th, 2004 9:23:36 AM

Jus, quiet and contemplative, eats his meal in silence.

Nonam
Wednesday September 29th, 2004 11:03:17 AM

Nonam quitely asks Jandar and Tericus if they can tell if Fai'fasal is in control of his own actions.

Onrad
Wednesday September 29th, 2004 2:15:14 PM

Onrad wakes and does his morning stretches to stay limber. He groans once or twice.

"Not as young as I used to be."

He helps steer folk away from Gareth and Fai'Fasal so they can talk. He says a quick prayer about him to Wardd.

Eventually he finds Nonam. "So which way do we go? I'm ready to end this."

DM Kent
Wednesday September 29th, 2004 8:52:41 PM

As Jandar aknowledges the contact thepressure releses and suddenly there is a bright flash of silver in his mind, followed by a very lovely and light sounding feminine voice. Ahh, Finally. I have been trying to contact you for hours. We... Um, I have discovered some information that you might like to know about. It has to do with the Lichs that Morlas has been accumulating over the last few years. I got a quick glimpse of them in a vision I had... I think what I would like to do is send you the images I recieved so you can see them for yourself as opposed to me telling you with possible coloring from my perspective. While not a painful process, it can be quite unsetting and uncomfortable, so you might want to lie down and let your friends know what is going on.Let me know when you are ready.

A soon as Jandar lets her know to proceed the is a brief acknoledgement and then the images start flowing.

It is very dark. Obviously a cavern like room there is some light perhaps coming from the walls. There is a Stone throne surrounded by dead bodies, mostly drow, many female. Upon the throne is seated your nemesis Morlas and facing him are 6 very large humanoid figures.

At this point the perspective chamges a bit to where it seems as though you are looking over Morlas' shoulder at the six but from a height ans a good distance. Things are a bit fuzzy but you get some good impressions.

To the farthest right stands a muscular tall robed humanoid figure with what appears to be the features of a large striped feline.

Next to him you get the sense of something monstrous and spiderlike but also humanoid.

The third figure has a rough humanoid shape but has no distinct features. No That's not quite true. The features just keep changing and for a moment you are sure you saw Jus' and Tericus' flow across the beasts face.

The fourth creature has extremly piggish features and at the same time appears to be very humanoid.

The fifth appears to be mostly snakelike but with a humanoid head.

And the one on the far left is huge and looks like a buffed up toad with humanoid features.

The Drow Matron is no where to be seen at this time.

Fai'fasal while not forthcoming during his chat with Gareth, seems to be very fatalistic about the upcoming sojourn. He is in fact extremely sure that he will not come back from this foray. He is also just as adamate about the fact that his matron is still alive and that he will be able to rescue her and possibly others. All of this is discussed in a very calm matter of fact flat, non-emotional, neutral manner.

As everyone finishes breakfast, things are cleaned up and the Drow, led by Tormian head out of camp beginning their new voyage to the city.

Addinein
Wednesday September 29th, 2004 9:16:32 PM

Listening intently to the things discussed. Addinein cannot figure out what he can do to help the blademaster of the remaining drow. Having been in the surface world, Addienin follows another example he's seen. He decided to walk around to the other drow and try to give them words of encouragement. He try to portray that the Storms will try their best to help in whatever way that they can.

It's rough going at first, because it is a foreign concept for his brain to wrap around. When everything is done, he's not sure if he has done any good.

sighing that the mace is unuseable, Tericus will gather all the items up and save them to be identified later. then, answering Nonan's question, Tericus says that he doesnt have anything that can tell who is in controll.

Gareth

The warrior recommends that the mace go with the drow back to the city for destruction. Hopefully it will not cause them to be attacked while in transit.

Jandar
Thursday September 30th, 2004 11:56:59 AM

Jandar explains to the group what's going on, then says,"I think Tericus and I should attempt to destroy it now, so that it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. At least, maybe we can get lucky enough to destroy he enchantments on it, so that it's just a normal mace."

"Oh yeah," the young cleric says,"the creatures Morlas has around him are obscene in the the extreme. These creatures will be extremely dangerous, from my viewing of them. We'll need more than one of us with true vision for one of them, poison protections from one, and another appeared to be a Naga, or resembled one, anyway. The shifting visage of the one implies the need for the true sight, but also explains the attacks centered on Jus and Tericus. It might be the one responsible for that."

Onrad
Thursday September 30th, 2004 2:17:40 PM

"So best if we find them one at a time and deal with them separately if we can. Let's destroy this mace and head out."

Onrad begins looking down various passages to see which one looks promising. He tries to remember which passage the matron came from.

Jandar says,"Tericus, if you have no objection, I'll try to dispel the evil on it first. If that doesn't work, we can cast Dispel Magic on it, if you have it memorized. Or, Nonam, if you have the mage version, you can join us. Of course, the magic will only be suppressed for a limited time, so we'll have to destroy the mace while it's not magical. Then, the enchantment will have no way to return. So, we'll need Gareth's muscles to bend it, or another spell to destroy it."

When all are ready and a plan is formed, Jandar casts Dispel Evil and touches the mace, hoping to remove any spell cast by an evil wizard. If that doesn't work, he waits until the others are ready, then he casts Dispel Magic on it (DC36). If noone has a better idea, he'll cast Shatter on it to finish the job. (destroy one solid object, up to 170 lbs.)

Onrad

Nodding and smiling to himself at the competence of our clerics, he crosses his fingers and says a prayer to Wardd.

"What about Disintigrate? I heard that's a nifty spell for such things."

Tericus
Friday October 1st, 2004 10:12:57 AM

Tericus nods in agreement with everything Jandar says, thens stands back as he casts his spells. he adds "Nonan can cast disintergrate. That might be the best way of doing it."

Nonam
Friday October 1st, 2004 10:20:24 AM

Nonam tells Onrad, "Go from here? I was hoping the drow would point us in the right direction... here let's see what Jandar has to say."

The wizard listens to the revelation about Morlas and his minions, "You know the thing that concerns me is who sent this message to Jandar. I have the feeling that someone else is playing us. Being a pawn is growing rather irritating."

"If that mace is powerful enough to a threat to us, then we probably can't destroy it, but since I'm about to rest and memorize new spells anyway..."

Nonam casts disintegrate on the mace. (DC26)

"Now I'm going to rest, so I can memorize new spells." The wizard turns to the triplets and asks for a secure, quiet place where he can rest.

Jandar
Friday October 1st, 2004 3:26:56 PM

Jandar replies to Nonam,"It was the lady we met at the Oracle. That much was obvious to me."

Addinien feels a bit uncomfortable as he talks with the departing drow but he gets the sense that his presence more than many others seems to help the Drow relax as they realize that there is life after the underdark and that there is some hope for them.

Between the three, the mace is irretrievably destroyed, although it took several different dispells, a blessing and disintigrate to irradicate it. Destroying it however seems to have been a good thing, as after further study it may have been the most evil weapon you all have come across in quite a while.

Afterwards Nonan and the others get thier final studying and rest done and by 10 AM are ready to move out.

Nonan can easily tell from which direction the Matron and the others came from and it seems to be inthe same direction that was discussed before where the last scouting party was ambushed.

Fai'Fasal tells you that he has had a long conference with his last scouts and has a quick and what seems to be a safe route to where they are going, but he also mentions that the netry way to the city below is at this point very very narrow and will in all likelihood only allow one in at a time. He also tells you that there is another more acseeible entry to the city below at the other end of the canyon, however that area was covered with hundreds of undead the last time it was scouted.

Gareth
Friday October 1st, 2004 9:22:55 PM

Hearing the options the warrior speaks to everyone. "Seems to me they will be expecting us to try the single file route. I wonder if there is a way we can bypass the undead at the other entrance? We have invibility, is that enough?".

Nonam
Saturday October 2nd, 2004 10:08:23 AM

"No, it isn't. Undead are not fooled by invisibility as it is illusion and they have no real minds to speak of. There is a spell that grants invisibility to the undead, but I do not know it... perhaps we could... no that's too dangerous."

The wizard thinks a moment.

"Faifasal, if I gave you my teleportation ring, could you teleport us to a safe spot inside the city? You don't need to be able to cast spells to use it."

Addinein
Monday October 4th, 2004 1:29:34 AM

Sighing as the other Drow depart, Addinein trys to put his mind back into what the Storms are currently doing.

Listening in to the others, Addinein realizes that he's going to have to depend upon them rather heavily.

Jus
Monday October 4th, 2004 9:46:56 AM

Jus winces with the thought of Poison -- he's always had trouble resisting that cursed stuff. Seeing that he has almost no money left, Jus has little choice but to go onward anyway.

It's too bad Keiran isn't pure in heart; he probably has more than enough money in his cave to help if he would just share. And there is no way Jus is going to kill that dragon outright, even if some may believe it is the right thing to do.

Jus stretches in the morning and begins a workout. He tries to get some time sparring with Onrad now that he's joined the group.

Then, "It's morning Nonam, we just rested."

"Or did I just pull 4 hours of guard duty for nothing?"

Onrad grins.

Then he goes patrolling. He enters each tunnel for a few feet and listens carefully as well as trying to spot things.

The warrior looks over to the priests. "What does that silver clawed wand do again? I forget...".

Jandar
Tuesday October 5th, 2004 1:53:58 AM

Jandar replies to Gareth,"It's for making a weapon into a holy weapon, or something like that. Of course, if we know we're about to go into combat, it's great. But I don't think it's wise to spend several rounds in a fight improving our weapons when I could be taking out undead in large numbers. But, if we get close to a fight, and I have time, I'll use it on everyone's weapons. We can go whichever way everyone wants to. I game for any."

As the Storms think about options Onrad gets bored and heads down the canyon a bit to check out the narrow entry slit.

It is very narrow, been barely 4 ft wide at the opening and after 20 feet or so it narrows down to 3. Onrad, being the careful and experience adventurer that he is does manage to spot a trip line that is right on the shadow line of the passages entry, though he is not at all sure ifit is a trap trigger or an alarm trigger. After proceeding to the place where the pssage narrows down to 3 feet he stops and listens. hearing nothing unusual at first he gets ready to move again when he realizes he is hearing wht sounds to be shallow quick breaths. Stopping again and listening more closely he no longer hears anything and starts to question whether he ever heard it at all. Onrad also sees that the narrow passage continues straight for at least 30 more feet where, he isn't sure but he believes, it bends. In the 20 feet that he has traveled and the further 30 ft that he can see, there do not seem to be any other openings or side passages.

Fai'Fasal thinks for a moment after being asked by Nonan about a teleportation location.

"Well there are a few possibilities. I am not at all sure where they are in location to where we are going as I do not know where it is we are heading. I also do not know if anything in those rooms or areas has been changed." My personal chamber is possibly a fairly safe bet, but it is on the third level and pretty far off the main passages. I would not call it very central. I suppose the throne room is another possibility, as would the war room. It is, however, highly likely that those rooms are either occupied or seen some fairly substantial changes. The other option might be the palace kitchen, though again i do not know what shape they are in or anything else for that matter."

Jandar
Wednesday October 6th, 2004 1:27:59 AM

Jandar says,"How long is the narrow walkway? And, can't Gareth fly overhead to make certain no one is following us or watching? I can cast Find Traps to make sure nothing is set to cause a landslide on us. It lasts several minutes, but it would give us a start."

Onrad
Wednesday October 6th, 2004 9:48:39 AM

Onrad, waits for a moment pretending he hasn't heard anything. Then he steps back quietly entering the room again.

He waves to get the attention of the group and puts his fingers to his lips pointing down the passage.

Then he takes an invisibility potion and returns....slowly and quietly.....listening, smelling, senses all alert.

He grins with the joy of the hunt. This is fun!

Gareth
Wednesday October 6th, 2004 8:03:54 PM

Listening to Fai'Fasal the warrior nods. "I do not relish wading through a sea of undead to get to what we came for. Let's go the throne room directly and take them out. That way the undead can't be controlled any more and will simply run off. We can deal with them more easily while they are not controlled.". He waits for Onrad to get done and for the others to get back. "Besides, we'll wear ourselves down if we fight the others first...".

Tericus
Wednesday October 6th, 2004 9:25:29 PM

"That sounds like the best thing to do Gareth." Tericus says as he prepares himself for the teleportation, "Though im sure me and Jandar can take care of any lesser undead without any problems."

Addinein
Wednesday October 6th, 2004 11:17:38 PM

"If we should do this, then do we want to get ourselves set up in a particular way?"

Seeing that Onrad wants the group to pretend about something, Addinein adds, "Should we take an inventory of what we're taking or might need?" Addinein does his best to pantomine for the group to play along with his request.

Nonam
Thursday October 7th, 2004 12:00:53 AM

"No. Teleporting into the Throne Room is too dangerous. That's probably where Morlas and his minions are. We could arrive facing the wrong direction and find ourselves with knives in our backs before we ever knew what was happening. Some other location would be better, even if it was farther away. Anything that got us passed the initial sentries would be bound to help. The kitchen sounds like a good idea. It would have been staffed with servants and could be the sort of place the undead would overlook, not to mention the fact that they don't have to eat."

"If only we could know where they were for sure... hey Jandar, describe your vision to Fai'fasal. Perhaps he will recognize the location."

Jandar
Thursday October 7th, 2004 1:22:31 AM

Jandar describes his vision again, in as much detail as possible. He then adds,"I think we need to be prepared to strike the first blow. And, if we face all of the creatures at once, we need to pair off with them to suit ourselves. I have a feeling that Morlas has prepared them specifically for each one of us, so we might want to consider which one for whom. Anyway, these are not orcs we're probably facing, and the first blow will possibly make the difference between someone dying or not. You know Morlas knows our strengths and weaknesses and will be prepared for us."

Gareth
Thursday October 7th, 2004 6:04:55 AM

The warrior considers the words. "I think the risk of going straight in is worth it because if we are discovered before we strike they will have time to prepare. Seems like we go in, the mage's and the clerics blast them a few times, and we engage them hand to hand after we soften them up a bit. Besides, I'd think Fai'Fasal would have us facing the right direction toward the throne. Other comments?".

Onrad [invisible]

Onrad continues to sneak up on the being he heard breathing being as quiet as he can.

Nonam
Thursday October 7th, 2004 1:43:34 PM

"We might go in facing the throne, but they could all be standing on the other side of the room. I agree that the first blow could be the one that makes the difference, but if we teleport straight into the throne room, then we might not be the ones making the first blow. If we arrive in some location that allows us to slip in unnoticed, and we don't alert the guards at the main entrance, then we can use stealth to arrive where we need to. None of our options is foolproof, but I'd prefer tipping the odds in our favor as much as possible. Just teleporting in and blasting is only going to generate chaos. Chaos might benefit us, but it might help them. It's sort of hard to tell. The more control we have, the better."

Jus
Thursday October 7th, 2004 7:37:21 PM

"Whichever way we go, I'd like to pump up on some defensive spells first -- especially if we go to the Throne Room. And I'm serious about the poison protection. I have little doubt we'll be hit by some type of poison, and almost as little faith that my body will resist it."

"Those draining hits were pretty severe, too. If we have or can buy something to help prevent drains, I'm all for it."

Keiran, Jus says, looking around for the loose dragon. Have you decided what you want to do? I don't know where your true parents are, or if they've succumbed to the Lich. Your feelings tell you they are safe, which I'm sure you welcome. I must ask: Are you planning to come fight with us, or do we part friends here?

OOC: Very tough few weeks lately for me. Work has been up to 70 hours a week and I've completely forgotten more than work/eat/sleep. I can't guarantee I'll be consistent in my posting over the next 2-3 weeks. Considering I don't know what my job will be after that -- or even if it will exist -- things may improve after that.

Nonam
Thursday October 7th, 2004 7:42:39 PM

Nonam hands Jus a potion of "neutralize poison." Then he points out, "I have 3 others. One for me and two more. Hopefully the clerics have something to protect us from the draining touch because I do not... save for wishes, and I'd prefer to save those."

Onrad, making his invisible self back down the corridor listening for the breather he heard before, he has a startling thought. As far as he or any of them know, there is no one down here that has to breathe. Since re-entering, Onrad has not heard any more breathing, nor has he heard anything like movement as he starts making his way into previously uncovered corridor. spot check please DC 18 or hit second trip wire

Fai'Fasal listens to the description and to the various plans, which seem to have boiled down to teleporting into the throne room, which he acknowledges is what Jandar desribes, and teleporting into the kitchens.

After a brief thought Fai'Fasal puts forth his opinion. "I think my suggestion would be to use the kitchen as the point of entry. While it is less direct, it is farily close to the throne room and their is a hidden servant's passage/entrance that may not have been discovered. There is of course another entry as well. It is very likely to be extremely well watched and defended as it is the main entry. There are three smaller rooms that are off of the throne room as well as two other doors that lead off to the family wings and the visitor rooms.

He then heads back to explain himself to the group.
