OOC: Very tough few weeks lately for me. Work has been up to 70 hours a week and I've completely forgotten more than work/eat/sleep. I can't guarantee I'll be consistent in my posting over the next 2-3 weeks. Considering I don't know what my job will be after that -- or even if it will exist -- things may improve after that.

Onrad, making his invisible self back down the corridor listening for the breather he heard before, he has a startling thought. As far as he or any of them know, there is no one down here that has to breathe. Since re-entering, Onrad has not heard any more breathing, nor has he heard anything like movement as he starts making his way into previously uncovered corridor. spot check please DC 18 or hit second trip wire
Fai'Fasal listens to the description and to the various plans, which seem to have boiled down to teleporting into the throne room, which he acknowledges is what Jandar desribes, and teleporting into the kitchens.
After a brief thought Fai'Fasal puts forth his opinion. "I think my suggestion would be to use the kitchen as the point of entry. While it is less direct, it is farily close to the throne room and their is a hidden servant's passage/entrance that may not have been discovered. There is of course another entry as well. It is very likely to be extremely well watched and defended as it is the main entry. There are three smaller rooms that are off of the throne room as well as two other doors that lead off to the family wings and the visitor rooms.

Onrad manages to avoid the trip line and is suprised to see that it is very, very recent, as there is no dust accumulated on it and there is dirt all over the floor. He also notices that someone has been through here very recently as while there is dirt everywhere, it has obviously been fairly well swept to erase any tracks that might have been left by the person's passage.
In his wanderings, Onrad went far enough to learn that the passage bends around for about another 50 feet of so and opens into a very large chamber, with a 20' diameter hole in the floor and at least 5 wide passages raiating from aroung the chamber.
Fai'Fasal looks momentarily shocked by the temerity of Addinien asking about a map to his family enclave, and lloks like he is about to have words with the young drow, but after a moment, it is almost as if he is listening to someone, he shrugs.
"I suppose it would not hurt to draw up what I know of the Palace level as it has already been invaded. I warn oyu though, I am not extremely familiar with that level of the enclave, though I have been along some of the main passages. There are many parts of the level which I know nothing about. I can most certainly get us a route from the kitchen to the Throne room, should that rumored passage not actually exist."
Looking around he takes out some paper and finding a hard flat place he starts scetching out a map of what he knows of the area you all wish to go. There is a huge section in the middle of the map that is empty and other areas that are only partially drawn in. He explains that these are areas he has walked by but never gone into, so he knows the passage is there and where is heads but not what is along it. He is able to get a workable map just about the time Onrad finds his way back to the group.

Trying his best to commit the new map to memory, Addinein will ask, "What should we plan on if everything fails and we need to fallback and regroup. Both inside the compound, and if we have to go back even futher?"

Returning, Onrad listens for a bit to get caught up.
"I went looking for a second and found something. First, I heard breathing and then found a trip wire. I returned, signed to you that there was something up the hallway, which, evidently none of you saw, and then went invisible. I found wiped tracks, a second tripwire, very recently placed and no dust on it. The room beyond has a hole in it, more like a well opening--like 20' around. I didn't go near. Time to return.
"We should be good here for the time it's going to take us to teleport. We do need a exit plan though, in case things go wrong."

"I'd say a teleport out would be a good way. I think we should simply go in directly and face our enemy. No need to mess with all the underlings first. Let's go in, maybe Tericus and Jandar can wipe out as many lessor beings as they can, and we can then go for the real threat. And Onrad, anyone waiting in the cave is not who we want to fight. It's important, but not as important as taking out the big guys.".

"And, I memorized a few extra Restoration spells, so yell out if you're really hit like that and I'll hook you up.

Well, my knowledge of this level is limited and I am not at all sure what we will find, but I am willing to lead you through here as well if that is what you decide. I expect that it will not be as much of a suprise than if we use the kitchen route, but I could be wrong."
Max sends a thought Gareth's way. "Liseth is getting ummm, how should I put this....hmm testy I think is the word Nonan might use. She is also saying that something evil is on the move."
Jus feels Kieran sending a message his way as well. "I will accompany you if I can and how I am able, I think this is partially might fight too. Keep my cave for me for now, that way I will know where you are."

"Keiran must have decided to go on his own. He appears to be out of range," Jus tells the others. Unconsciously, Jus probes with his mind, wondering where the dragon has gone. I'm sure he'll be back, Jus thinks, considering the, now empty, portable cave in his backpack.

Jandar says,"Before we go, I will cast some spells to get us ready. Some of these spells, however only last a few minutes, so we must hurry once we are there. I also suggest, if we can get a look into the throne room before they detect or see us, Tericus, Nonam, and I should cast some damaging area of effect spells, like Firestorm.
If you all are ready, I'll begin now."
Assuming there are no disagreements, he casts, in order and with no delay, Freedom of Movement on himself, Tericus, and Nonam, Delay Poison on the remaining members of the group who don't have a potion(which should cover everyone then), Hide from Undead on everyone(one spell), Bless, Cat's Grace-Mass, Bear's endurance-Mass, Bulls' Strength-Mass. He uses then Wand to cast Holy Sword on Onrad's, Jus's, Tericus's, and his own weapons. He then casts Disrupting Weapon on Gareth's sword.
When he's finished, he quickly says,"Gareth, I doubt your sword would have liked the Holy Sword spell, as it would override any other abilities your sword has.
We must now hurry. Nonam, take us to re-kill the undead. And remember, some of these creatures might not be undead that we are fighting, and some definitely will be."

Fai'Fasal gets any final instructions on how and what he needs to visualize where they are going. He Waits for the last of the spells to be cast on people and then takes the ring. At that moment, it finally registers in your minds that you all just saw what appeared to be a drow teenager darting out of the passage where Onrad was just a few moments before. As the last hand is linked and Fai'fasal takes the ring Gareth sees a small quick movement darting toward the group and Addinein feels a tug on his backpack strap just as the group feels the all to familiar feeling of dislocation and inner ear dizziness associated with translocation. Somewhere nearby you get the sense of some one screaming in abject fear. and you actually, for the first time you can remember, see something during your journey. You each see an non-descriptive dark shape moving parallel to you. You have no idea what it is, but you are very aware that it is radiating an evil stronger than anything you have ever even thought about facing. This vision lasts for only a second and then you are sunddenly standing in the center of a very large kitchen. Even in the moment you arrive, you can tell the kitchen is a mess. And there is the rankest of smells. You look around and make a quick count, to see that everyone is there, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.....
Wait a moment there are only supposed to be 8 of you.

Expecting that some fool kid just wound up where he's not supposed to be, Nonam points a wand at the 9th party member, "You're lucky that you aren't already dead. Now, explain who you are and what you're doing right now."
Nonam keeps his focus on the newcomer, but still has time to give some orders, "Gareth keep him from running. Jandar keep him from making noise. Onrad check the room."
Finally, the wizard uses his arcane sight to examine the new party member to see what sort of magics he might be using or under the effects of.

If anyone bolts, he attacks to overbear if he can't quickly move to block the exit. Too much weighing on this to take any chances.

If no one bolts in the room, he begins herding them away from exits and glances about for a small closet or something to put them in.
If there is no one in the kitchen, he checks out exits quickly without opening doors, if any, locking exits if possible.

As Nonan points his wand, Gareth grabs the child, Jandar moves in on it and Tericus questions it, the little half starved drow child clings to Addinein's leg and buries its face in Addinein's side. There is no abnormal evil coming from the child, it just looks more than half starved and scared to death. Addinein barely hears the child whisper. "Please protect me," as it is spoken into his cloaked side.
As others look around the kitchen, they can see it has not been in use for some time. There are 13 dead and decomposing drow bodies strewn across the kitchen. The odor is really quite bad. There is a line of tables running down the middle of the room and two other tables next to you running to the wall. There are 2 large storage bins in the northeast corner of the room and six smaller bins along the eastern wall. Between the two tables and along the south wall are several tall storage closets. Near the north western corner is an oval dining table. On the north wall is the cooking fire place with several differet spits and pot hangers and grills. Along each side is a small table with several shelves above and below. There is kitchen trash, food, and utensils all over the floor and tables.
The three doors, all of which are broken, are wide open. The two larger doors are open on to hallways that run about 20 Feet and end in another halway that parallels the kitchen. The third and smaller door is open showing several steps that lead downward into the darkness. You are fairly confident that this leds to their cold storage area.

Hearing Tericus comment about their arrival, Addinein comments, "We know our female friend can sense the dead, can they in turn sense her?"

Fai'fasal is looking around as the child goes off and then for a moment stands there stunned as if he had just been slapped by two tons of rock. After that brief second he drops to his knees in deference and obeisance to what may apparently be the last house female.
In response to Gareth's query he answers after a moments thought. "I do not know exactly. It is said that there is a secret servant's passage from the kitchens to the throne room.Where it is exactly I do not know. If you want to go through the normal passages, then we go out there and turn left. " As for Lisseth she does not believe the Lichs can sense her as yet."

Having not been around a female for some time. It takes Addinein a second to realize the sudden change in the situation. Bowing to the female
Addinein comments, "I am Addinein of house (insert house name, not on character sheet)(my bag). We are here to see what damage we can do to your enemies, as they are ours currently. We do not have much time, so I apologize for my shortness. As you can hear from my companions, we must move quickly to throne room. Do you happen to know of this secret passage? We cannot help you to get out at this time, and I am unsure how well we can protect you if you come along....."
During his list speech, he'll keep an eye out on Fai'Fasal to see if he's mis-stepping, or if Fai'Fasal has anything to add. Addinein does not know the motivations of the young girl, and hopes that Fai'Fasal may be of some help there.

Just about the time Yelrith is asked about the secret door and points it out, Onrad finds it on the North wall just east of the fireplace. A check reveals that it is not trapped or locked and the opening mechanism is found in the left most bin on the eastern wall.
Yelrith watches each of the Storms as they discuss what needs to be done and then her eyes open wider than any might seem possible. "Where is your army? How do you expect to defeat such an awful and powerful force with only eight people?
Pausing for a moment as if she is listening, her eyes go even wider if it is possible.
Turning to Fai'fasal she speaks.
"W-w-ho i-i-s Liseth? And why is she speaking to me inside my head?" She says you are of my family's house, and that you are MY champion? She also says that I should listen to what you say.
If I stay here like these people suggest, will you come back for me? I don't think I cam last much longer here on my own."

Onrad finds no traps near the beginning of the passage and noone hears a thing other than their own brething and heart beats. As everyone enters the passage they all realize that when the door is closed it is going to be pitch black in the passage. and even if they leave it open darkness is soon going to prevail.
Before heading into and locking the cellar behind her, Yelrith told them that the passage is nearly 200 feet long and is never wider than 6ft the entire way. She says that it was once lit with candled wall sconces but she is sure they are no more.
Fai'fasal takes Yelrith asside before leaving her and has some sort of conversation with her and then rejoins you as you enter the hall way. He looks as if he is a bit unsure that he is doing the right thing now that Yelrith has surfaced and keeps looking back over his shoulder.
Jus gets a mental nudge from his black friend. Hey, did you go underground? Somehow this place seems a bit familiar. Why?
Max gets Gareth's attetion as well. Umm Boss? I am getting a bad feeling about all this.Something somewhere is not right.

The trip through the dark passage, even with the lit coin is nerve wracking as every so often you come across a decomposing body covered with rats and other vermin. Amazingly Onrad does an outstanding job spotting irregularities and manages to warn you about possible traps and allows you to avoid several questionable areas. (26, 23, 26, 35, 26) and after a few tense moments you find yourselves at a wall. There are no obvious latches or mechanisms visible. (search DC 22) for the front two people.

He also gets out his vial of neutralize poison potion so that he can drink it before opening the door.
[If anyone has cast spells on group members, could you list them again? I know some were cast, but I lost track. All I've cast is light, shapechange, and this stoneskin. Plus the normal permanent effects, like see invisible.]

The warrior removes his infravision ring seeing how there is plenty of light with the elemental around. He then activates the ring of fire resistance and goes invisible as a last act before drawing Max. "Last preparations before we go in, make them now...".

Well, I had not planned on returning from this venture when I started out with you, but it seems that I must now. So, If you have a spare stoneskin spell that I might avail myself of, it would be most appreciated.
The throne room is a large oval, I would assume that we are on the northern end of the oval. In the center rear wall there is a large raised dias, that has around 8 steps leading up to it. On the dias are two thrones. In the past other than a floor rug and several wall hangings, there was nothing else in the room.
There are four other entries that I am aware of. the smallest will be directly across from us I believe and the three main entries should be immedately to our right, directly across from the dias, and then further down on the right hand wall. I do not know, but I am fairly sure there are other means of egress that I am unaware of.

Jus activates his Glove, then casts Shield. While listening to the drow, and taking a gamble that the short duration spells won't be wasted, Jus also casts Displacement. He hasen't been buffed up like this in ages, but Jus has little doubt the Storm's will need all they can get.
Jus prepares his bow, knowing his invisibility to mundane eyes and the undead may buy him a little time to by careful with his shots.
If combat unsues on the other side of the door, Jus will immediately activate his boots of speed. He also makes sure his Seals and Potions are ready for use.

Two things occur as Onrad opens the door. First, he and then everyone else is litterally knocked back by the wave of nauseous small that rushes into the passage. It smells like the worst charnel house you could ever imagine fortitude save DC18 or be incapacitated for 2 rounds throwing up.
The next thing Onrad notices is that he can see absolutely nothing. Everything is absolutely black. Even the light coin doesn't penetrate the darkness. It is in fact so dark that Onrad is quite unsure whether there is a room, let alone a floor, in front of him or not.

The warrior is a bit taken aback by the smell but shrugs it off without much concern (DC 31). He decides to not wait on the casters before moving into the room with his eyes closed, quietly thank Patrark the Sapphire dragon for his improved blind fighting abilities (e.g. Can pretty much 'see' even though blind). He moves into the gloom and off to the side seeing with his ears - and wanting to avoid the spells he knows are coming.

Jandar immediately steps into the black room and off to the right a few steps once Onrad opens the door. He keeps his guts in place, but is appalled nonetheless by the smell. Knowing that this is the fight he's come to help the Storm Dragons with, he's pumped and ready. He casts 'Greater Dispel Magic' on the darkness in the room, knowing it's a spell effect.(used hero point got nat 20 on second roll)
He's miffed that he can't cast an offensive spell at the onset of the fight, but the darkness has to go for the party to have any success.

Jandar's spell dispells some darkness and lightens up the area the party is standing in, but it is still quite dark and though the fire elemental sheds some more light into the area his light suddenly ends and disapears intomore pitch blackness.
Fai'fasal joins the group in the room and everyone can hear the hum suddenly emmanating from Lisseth.
Nonan flies upward to a near the ceiling, which is 35 ft up and sees a wall of darkness facing him.
Gareth listens hard and along with everyone else realizes that they can hear absolutely nothing. Not even their own footfalls, heartbeats or breathing.
In this round Tericus can definitely sense that there is evil somewhere in the room.
Onrad tumbles in and is awarded by nearly falling on his face as he slips and slides through the numerous rotting bodies, body parts, blood and gore literally covering the floor where you are all standing.

The warrior wonders if the liches can see them. He is horrified and appaled at the rotting bodies but they simply reinforce his resolve to find and kill this evil and disgusting creature. He hopes Nonam and the others can give them their sight back. He also activates his boots so he doesn't have to wade through the body parts.

Having seen his spell won't work, Jandar realizes there are probably more than one spells of darkness in place and more being cast. He casts 'True Seeing' on himself so he can see through the darkness and find their enemy. He then looks around, up and side to side, very quickly to figure out where the enemy is.

Onrad gives Gareth a significant look to see if there are any nonverbal instructions and begins moving forward. He trots so as to reach the edge of the darkness and stops there maintaining his total defense for the moment.
He attempts to stay aware of anything coming through the wall.
He looks at Jandar and Tericus and mouths the words "Dispel again" to them. He over emphasizes the mouth movement of the words hoping they can read his lips.
Turning back, he concentrates on the area in front of him.

Jus begins to say 'Curse it all' and cast Fireball at the end of the room -- after all, there is little chance the Storms will surprise anyone in here now. But before he finishes his sentence, Jus realizes they are in a silence spell.
This is not good news! Jus soundlessly says out loud. Somebody is expecting us.
Pointing to his mouth in frustration, he hopes someone does something with the silence, let alone the darkness. Then, like Onrad earlier, Jus realizes he is now invisible and silent, and drops any attempt at communication.
Thankful that Jandar cast the Invisibility to Undead on him, Jus tries to stay away from the others to minimize grouped targets, and keeps his bow ready. Unfortunately, he can't do much more since all his spells have a verbal component.

If it doesn't dispel the darkness, he doesn't know what will.

Jandar goes to cast his true sight spell and realizes that he can not verbalize the necessary parts in the silenced area.
Nonan too goes to cast his spell and realizes that he is also in a silenced room and cannot hear his verbal components.
Tericus concentrates on his spell and is just about see what is out there and where when.....
Four fireballs (wand fired) come blasting into the area you are occupying. 100 points damage Reflex DC 22 for 50 points. Spell resistance (30)is applicable.
As the fireball fades away the darkness in the room disapears and In front of you you see an array of foes that gives even you pause.
Mixed in amongst what looks to be 35 vampires are the Lichs described ealier in the vision.
About 15 feet in front of Gareth are a large Boar-like figure and to its left is the larges and ugliest looking frog-like critter you have ever seen.
About the same distance in front of Nonan is the even larger snake bodied creature.
About fouty feet in front of Onrad and on the dias is the foul Abbot, who with his cowl pushed back looks like a humanoid tiger.
But formost in Onrad'd mind is the fact that he is faced with someone who looks an awful lot like Jus who is in the middle of swinging a very familiar looking sword at him AC 38, AC 50, AC 42, AC 36, AC 37 missing each time as Onrad fights totally defensively.

(made saving throw of 23, ring and shield absorb 20 hps of fire damage). realizing he's the only one that can speak, Tericus directs his fire elemental to attack the two vampires near Nonan, then he casts greater dispel magic agains the silence spell(since my detect evil spell went off, im assuming my spell goes off too. remember, i havnt entered the room yet - dispel magic roll of 34 against the silence spell)

Jandar says,"Holy cripes! Look at all the undead to destroy!" just to see if the silence is gone, since the darkness is gone. He dodges nimbly away from the area of fieballs(ring of evasion), and, if he can speak, he casts 'Firestorm' starting right at the first lich, spread out and deep enough to get just about all the creatures(36, 10' squares)(damage 65, reflex half, used spell penetration against spell res dc37 after using hero point to reroll the 28)
He then moves 5 feet to the right, towards Gareth's location, but away from the main group, to keep area of effect spells from hitting them all.
(Kent, if the silence spell is still present after speaking, Jandar will retreat out of the room to cast from outside the room. He would have moved immediately last round, but we didn't really get a chance to react to our voices not being heard)
