DM Jamie d20=15 d100=16 d20=10 Friday January 14th, 2005 6:32:17 AM I have emailed a map out. And as you progress I will add to it in more detail and continue to email out. If, for some reason, you don't reveive it let me know
Everyone makes it down the rope without incident. It is cold down here. Not enough to be uncomfortable, but there is definetely a chill in the air and their is a breeze coming from the opening in the south.
The walls all have a glow to them and upon futher inspection you find that it is a plant growing on the walls that provides the light. It is bright enough for the humans to see, but only at half their normal vision if they choose to go without torches
And for those of you that might have missed it before... You all hear the torchered screams of a child. Then you hear something like the crack of a whip... You no longer hear the child, but you can hear a shuffling from down the passage.
Dietrich AC 19, HP 26/29, shield, bless, fire protection Friday January 14th, 2005 2:39:00 PM
DIetrich shivers at what he hears and also feels angry.
The warrior says: "Let's go. Maybe it would be good to have one of our feathered friends scouting ahead. Olyn and Berlon, could you sense if there are other undead ahead? Rose, could you check for traps plesae? Then let's continue in the current formation."
Berlon [AC 20 HP 19 - S.O Dietrich, fire res 2] d20+6=19 Friday January 14th, 2005 5:40:48 PM
"I am sorry, Friend Dietrich, but I have only the simplest of my spells left. I do, however, still have some healing available to me. I also hope all Friends have the items I gave out earlier..."
"I will be happy to go forward with Friend Olyn, although I must say you are likely to see a side of me you are unlikely to see again any time soon. Back in my Home Glen the Goblin force that invaded had Shamen with Undead at their beck and call. That past experience tends to make me... impatient with the Undead and those that consort with them."
"Speaking of which, I have given Friend Theodore two parts of a concoction the Wood Elves used to call a "Gnomish Grenade" It is not often used, as it is a rather... painful... weapon, but against undead I relish the thought of using it. If we come across a group of Undead Friend Theodore can launch that small bag I gave him, we can wipe out many Undead at a time."
"I just want everyone to be aware of that option, Friend Dietrich can instruct us when and if we choose to use it. If we do, all Friends please keep your distance."
Berlon then realizes he is babbling, and quiets himself so he can listen for any cries. (Listen check 19)

She pulls a full hooded lantern out of her bag and uses a tindertwig to light it before looking for traps. if she has the time she quickly casts a spell (temperature control, casts centered on rose's belt going from ground to 5' up and encompassing the square she's in and the one behind her set at about 67 degrees)

Olyn's detection reveals 4 undead about 50 foot ahead of medium strength.
Rose, your spell goes off without a hitch and you are instantly more comfortable that you were. Anyone standing within 5 feet of Rose instantly feels more comfortable.
When you talk down here you can hear a slight echo as if someone were mocking you. You also hear a shuffling coming from down the hall. It does not appear to be getting closer, but the way sound has been acying down here so far you don't know if you can trust your ears.
DM Jamie Tuesday January 18th, 2005 6:09:37 AM Wanted to let everyone know that the military can be very unpredictable. With my selection to represent my squadron in a competion, extra duties, an upcomming move, and subsequent deployment I have opted to spend as much father daughter time with my two kids as I can muster. I have give Jerry my two weeks notice. I will be finishing out this module and will write the next one, but will no longer be able to give the kind of time to D&D like I want to. You have all been great for the few short weeks I have been with you and I look forward to the next few. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

The tunnel winds on for about another 150 feet. It is starting to become more humid in the tunnel. You can hear the water slowly dripping from the ceiling and you can feel the rise in humidity in the air.
Vorelle, as you come around one of the bends in the tunnel you see 4 shambling humanoids about 40 feet in front of you. Then the smell hits you. Talk about rank, the smell emanating off of these 4 is worse than a spoiled green gnomish.
The 4 have not seen you yet. As you look closer at them you see that they are half decayed and consumed by worms. They have some tettered remains of clothing across their gaunt frames.

Dietrich is not very pleased by the cold and humid underground tunnel and even less by the undead's smell.
He waits for the clerics to use their holy powers and than fires an arrow at the enemy posing the biggest threat.
hits ac 19, damage 9
The fighter drops the bow and fastdraws his masterwork greatsword.
"Fire your missiles! (looking at Vauhwyt) Wait with your charge!"
The group should still be positioned like that: armoured clerics ahead, Dietrich and Vauhwyt (getting ready for hand to hand), Rose, Theo and Vorelle (shooting, magic till enemy is too close)
Vorelle d20+7=17 d8=5 Wednesday January 19th, 2005 5:22:19 PM

Clicking her claws against the cavern floor in frustration, Vauhwyt nonetheless holds her position at the front and prepares for the undead to approach.
"Mookie, get ready to distract it when it gets in close," she tells her familiar. "Okay, Boss," he replies.
She sets her spear, expecting the undead to charge.
[OOC: She is readying an attack with her longspear, which has a 10-foot reach. So when the enemy is ten feet away, she gets her readied attack. If they charge, that's with double damage charging into a spear. Then, as they move from 10 feet away to five feet away, Vauhwyt also gains an Attack of Opportunity (AoO). Mookie (small size with the enlarge spell grants 5-foot reach) readies an Aid Another action to help with the AoO.]
[Vauhwyt's Readied Attack: hits AC9, a miss]

Rose pulls out a holy water and holds it in her left hand as she draws her sword with her right. She gets ready to attack any goulish thing that comes near her.
DM Jamie Thursday January 20th, 2005 6:02:14 AM
As Berlon holds his holy symbol high and casts out the undead a wave of holy goodness extends out from him. The wave fills the tunnel and radiates out as if it were a fireplace heating a cold house in the morning. Everyone can tell that, for the time being, all of the jittery feelings that had gotten comming down into this hole have been dispelled.
The undead only look up for a moment before turning to flee from the party. They were about 20 - 30 feet away when Berlon turned.
Dietrich's arrow has no problem finding it's mark (AC of the undead is 11) in the back of the creatures neck.
Vorelle strikes the same one and there is another arrow sticking out of it's back.
With the arrival of a challenge that the party can seem to overcome all thoughts of the dread that has fallen upon the city and, to some extent, the group are forgotten.
The tunnel is starting to widen up and you can see that there is a glow comming from farther down the tunnel past the undead.
Olyn *ac23, hp32* d20=19 Thursday January 20th, 2005 11:18:32 AM
pulling out a large flask from his backpack he turns and says to Vorelle, with my torch light up one of your arrwos and shoot it after i throw this flask.
turning back to the fleeing undead, Olyn rears back and with all his might throws it at the little mob of creatures. AC:19, large flask of oil, double normal capacity.
squatting so Vorelle can fire her lit arrow past him, he yells: Light em Up!

Berlon makes a silent, satisfied smile after turning the undead. Berlon will take a shot at the injured one with his crossbow. After that he will drop the crossbow at his feet, draw his mace and shield for the following rounds.
Berlon fires his crossbow (range 120') and hits AC 11 for 9 damage.
(ooc: Dietrich don't forget that in addition to taking half your dge for you, you also get +1 deflection to AC and +1 resistance bonus to saves. I always forget that last part.)
Dietrich Thursday January 20th, 2005 2:18:02 PM
Dietrich is almost disappointed as all four undead turn to flee, though he grunts satisfied at the sight of holy power and his own shot.
Nodding in approvement to Olyn's and Vorelle's fire action, the warrior keeps his greatsword ready to intercept any burning monsters possibly running at the party.
"Continue fire! Hold your places and don't waste magic or holy water yet."
OOC: Hi Berlon, I counted the ac bonus, but good to remember the save bonus. Also forgot to add the bless bonus...
Vauhwyt and Mookie Thursday January 20th, 2005 2:34:20 PM
Vauhwyt continues to prepare for an attack, although that looks very unlikely now.
"Ho hum," says Mookie.
Vorelle d20+7=9 Thursday January 20th, 2005 4:33:36 PM
Vorelle looks from her arrow to the torch in helpless confusion. The steel arrowhead won't burn, and if she lights the wooden shaft, she will burn her hands and possibly her bow. She opens her mouth to tell Olyn that flaming arrows need some advance preparation time, then decides she'll never get the words out in time.
Instead, she simply sights and fires again. It's a terrible shot that flies wide of its target.
[Hit AC 9]
Theodore and Macaw HP 13/13 AC 16 (mage armor) Thursday January 20th, 2005 6:17:21 PM
Theodore stores his holy water back in his backpack and looks on as the undead retreat from the group. "Shouldn't we be a little quieter? Perhaps we shouldn't announce our presence until we know what else is down here." Otherwise, he holds his staff tightly and waits for the group to move forward again.
Rose d20+7=12 d20+6=11 d20+7=19 d20+6=11 d20+5=12 Friday January 21st, 2005 3:23:02 AM
Rose hands her torch to Vauhwyt (or someone else) and quietly follows the gouls. She goes for as far as she can see by any light that is in the tunnel.
DM Jamie d100=79 d10=7 d12=7 d4=3 Friday January 21st, 2005 6:33:20 AM
Olyn and Berlon each find marks with their missile weapons. Berlon attacks the one that has been hit already and it drops t the ground. Olyn hits one of the undead at the front and soaks it with oil. There is some splatter onto the other two remaining undead.
Rose, as you follow the undead (ahead of the rest of the group), you begin to see that the tunnel is widening out into a room up ahead. The room looks imense. From the bend in the tunnelapproaching the room you can't make out a whole lot, but you know that you can see shadows moving. The shadow are being created by a light coming from the other side of the room (where you can not see). You also feel great evel coming from the room. You may not be learned in the holy ways of a cleric, but you know evil...
As you are sitting there listening you hear some people talking about their dark queen. You also hear a child crying softly.
Olyn Friday January 21st, 2005 8:48:44 AM
walking over to Vorelle, Olyn reaches in his waistband and pulls out a bandage, pulling out an arrow from her quiver he wraps the bandage around the tip and ties it, then, putting the tip in the flame, the bandage lights up and then Olyn hands the arrow to Vorelle.
pointing at the one soaked, he says: can you put this arrow into that creature?
Dietrich Friday January 21st, 2005 3:06:03 PM
Dietrich sheaths his sword and takes the longbow again. It's a pity some of the undead could flee and he shares Theo's worry about the lost of any surprise element, but then it probably was lost with the fireball before and anyway if the monsters get away.
The warrior sighs when Rose follows the undead on her own, worrying about her safety, and suggests the group moves after her, keeping some distance in order not to call attention to her.
He also begs Vorelle to follow the Halfling and protect her if necessary.
"By DOmi, let's finish this business!"
Vorelle d20+7=10 Friday January 21st, 2005 4:29:10 PM
Vorelle takes the proffered arrow, lights it, and fires at the oil-covered zombie. Her shot is a bit rushed, though, she misses again.
Then, seeing that the action is continuing forward, she hurries down the hall after the others.
Vauhwyt and Mookie (AC25, HP24 of 24, shield, mage armor, 2 hp fire resist) and Mookie (AC17, HP12 of 12, enlarge, mage armor, 2 hp fire resist) Friday January 21st, 2005 5:41:55 PM
Vauhwyt does as Dietrich directs, moving forward with the group. She stays near the front, behind Vorelle and Rose, near the clerics.
Theodore and Macaw HP 13 AC 16 (mage armor) Friday January 21st, 2005 5:51:34 PM

Rose d20+7=17 d20+6=7 d20+7=19 d20+6=20 d20+5=24 Friday January 21st, 2005 9:49:46 PM
Rose is upset at the sound of the crying child I have to get him out of there she thinks. Although afraid she moves forward, trying to stay in the shadows of the room.
DM Jamie d20=15 d20=19 d20=20 Monday January 24th, 2005 5:20:38 AM
As Rose continues to sneak, inching ever closer to the room, the rest of the group catches up to her.
Everyone is now creeping toward the entrance to the room. Everyone can hear talk of a dark queen and sacrifice. From time to time you can hear the sobs of a child.
You hear a voice yell, "What are you three back for?" "Intruders?" "The rest of you go... I will deal with the girl and with our visitors."
There is some shuffleing comming from the room and then a great burst of cold air comes from the room through the door. This air chills you to your very core. It is not a natural cold, but in a way it beckons to you to curl up and just enter a sleep that you would never wake up from. It is almost, for lack of a better word, seductive.
You can tell their is undead and great evil right around the corner. You can feel it without even having to cast any spells.
Olyn *ac23, hp32, Bless* Monday January 24th, 2005 9:24:13 AM
immediately when the blast of unnatural cold air hits the group, Olyn drops a pair of dice onto the ground and cites these words:

Dietrich is worry that the enemy knows about their presence, but feels good with the new blessing.
As there is no time to discuss a proper plan, the warrior says:
"Let's enter, kill anything hostile and save the kid. Form the basic defensive formation, that is: D and Vauwyt as interceptors (line 1), Clerics shooting/casting (line 2), Theo Rose casting (centre), Vorelle shooting (line 2). Concentrate your fire on magic users. If necessary some of us can change functions later, like rescuing the child, but for now keep together and wait."
Then he does as said, entering the room and shooting at the source of the voice.

Theodore and Macaw HP 13/13 AC 16 (mage armor, resistance, & bless) Monday January 24th, 2005 7:36:01 PM
Theodore weaves his hands and incants a spell before the party moves forward. He retains the rod clutched in his left hand and the quarterstaff in his right. His eyes are saucers as he tiptoes after the others.

Vauhwyt listens carefully to Dietrich, but she is a little confused when he refers to himself as "D."
"Is he talking about himself?" she whispers to Mookie.
"Got me, Boss," the raven answers, "but don't worry about it! Attack!"
"Right!"
Vauhwyt moves forward, looking for an enemy. If she can get to one in 40 feet, she will move and attack. If she has a straight line within 40 to 80 feet, she will charge.
If she cannot engage an enemy, then she moves up to 40 feet and sets her spear for an attack.
In any event, with her reach weapon, she does not get closer than ten feet from the enemy. That way she gets an AoO as the enemy closes, maybe.
If possible, Mookie uses an Aid Another action to help distract the enemy and help Vauhwyt hit.
Mookie's Aid Another roll: 17.
Vauhwyt's attack: hits AC17 (AC15 without the Aid Another, optional +2 if charging? might hit AC19)
Vauhwyt's damage: 10 (+2 = 12 if charging)
If Vauhwyt gets an Attack of Opportunity, then she hits AC11 for 9.

Unless Dietrich raises any objectives, Berlon will grab and sling his crossbow, then follow Vauhwyt and make a melee attack if a foe is in range. He'll attack whoever he can reach, targeting any wounded foe first.
If he gets an attack with his mace, he hits AC 24 for 8 dge.
If he can't attack with his mace, he'll draw and load his heavy crossbow.
