The Red Dirt Road. (DM Jim) Wednesday January 5th, 2005 8:50:31 PM
Mikal looks to Kale and shakes his head as he laughs some more. "You will be surprised to know that I walked here by myself." He goes into no details as to how he came to be able to do that. He just nods to Brahmah and makes off to get a wagon. He soon returns with a rather large wagon drawn by six mules. "I think that this will do for the purpose of this journey." With that said he starts out on the dirt road that lays before them.
The time reaches noon and the group has been making fairly good time on the road. Mikal keeps glancing around as if expecting to be ambushed at any moment and you will notice that he keeps hands near his weapons. If you did not know better you would think he was a seasoned warrior.
Zeoll d20+8=22 Thursday January 6th, 2005 12:40:11 AM
With Croc at his side, Zeoll walks along. He sees that the small two-legger is nervous, so Zeoll keeps his eyes open too. [Spot 22]

Kanchana d20+3=4 d20+5=8 d20+4=7 Thursday January 6th, 2005 1:33:19 AM
Kanchana doesn't walk on the road she walks parallell to the others but in the woods off to the side instead. Because she is a druid of some skill the forest is easy to walk through for her; even brambles and such things (Woodland Stride). The Warden leaves no trace of her passing through the forest either (Trackless Step).
Kanchana doesn't want to be too close to the bandit magnet (read: the wagon). She pays attention to her surroundings; supposed to be searching for the afore-mentioned bandits. But Kanchana is easily distracted - she is too happy to be back in the forest and is instead looking at all the plants she passes.
Toros d20=17 d20=14 Thursday January 6th, 2005 2:26:08 AM
Toros also concentrates his attention on the surroundings, walking close to Mikal. (spot 17+3=20, listen 14+4=18)Intitively his hands go to his whip (draws the weapon) and readies to use it against any hostility that targets the page boy.

What vegetation is about? Trees? Grass? Shrubs?
Brahmah is also of the notion that an ambush is imminent. (Listen 11, Spot 27) He remains alert. He also realizes that perhaps the guide could be a plant into the group to see what weaknesses they might have. The minotaur makes a point to descretely tell the other this too and not to tell the young man much. 'Marteus knows no bounds.' He will tell them.

As Solgrin and Leets are trotting next to him, Flat-top speaks to the both of them "I really don't trust a boy who woun't ride a Centaur, but want to get a wagon big enough to put bodies of Taurs in it? If that boy is seventeen I'll eat my shirt! Just watch him."

Lunch comes and goes with the group eating on the move. Mikal keeps up his visual of the surrounding area, as the group starts to have a few doubts about their guide. All that is spotted along the road as you travel are three rabbits that look up and then scamper away as you approach and a deer, a large male.
True to his word Mikal leads the groups straight and true as the sun begins to dip in the sky. Ahead is a clearing off to the side of the road surrounded by some boulders and shrubs, what would appear to be an ideal place for a camp or ambush. The day is fast waneing and supper is approaching as the group feels a little weary.
The road is lined with spotted trees, shrubs and large boulders. These would make perfect areas to spring an ambush from but the group has made it through this first day without incident.
Brahmah Friday January 7th, 2005 1:11:05 AM

The First Night. (DM Jim) Saturday January 8th, 2005 6:41:42 PM
Brahmah calls a stop for camp as the night starts to sneak up on them. Mikal looks around as a comment is made about a different place and shakes his head. "This is where most caravans stop for the night...though that may not be a good thing." He once again thinks of the bandits but shrugs as he is with The Chosen.
Flat-top puts up a little bit of a fuss to begin with and the guide boy just shakes his head. He figures that it would only be natural for them to be distrustful of him...they just met him and all. Flat-top finds nothing hiding around the immediate area.
The animal companions go about thier own little business of wanting food, getting into mischief or just getting ready for the night.
Kale slips off into the surrounding area to see if he can find any signs of an ambush or the like. He finds nothing of over interest but some tracks that belong to some wild animals.
Solgrin is quick to volunteer for a watch as he only needs a few hours sleep and he wants to be of more use to the group. He does stare in wonder at the egg for a few minutes, trying to figure out when Roz could have gotten pregnant.
Kanchana slips off into the surrounding area as well, but gives a warning about not cutting down any trees. She finds plenty of dead wood laying about that she is able to collect. As she moves along she comes upon some tracks in the soft dirt of the surrounding grasslands. She mutters to herself about there being wolves around, at least she hopes they are wolves.
Toros takes the time to help in sitting up the camp but then slips to the ground as he plans to get a little rest. He yawns a couple of times as he looks to the rest, hoping that if they need his help they will ask.
Zeoll moves off with Kanchana and holds most of the firewood for her as they move around. He stops when she does and takes note of the tracks but does not know what they are. He looks to Kanchana with a quirked eyebrow.
Mikal makes himself useful around the camp as he brings some larger stones over to make a circular pit for cooking. He looks around at the others as he moves off to the wagon and takes out a cooking skillet and utensils. He also brings along some of the foodstuffs that Master Dunkirk gave to them and lays them out on the clean rocks. "I have enough stuff here to make a little wilderness mix and warm some of these biscuits one the surrounding rocks." He points back to the wagon as he gets stuff ready. "There was a large wheel of cheese and some dried fruits and nuts too." He just has to wait for firewood to get started cooking, that is if everyone trusts him enough to do it.
Let me know what the order is going to be for the watch this night and if you want to use the same one for the next night as well. Do anything that you think your character would need to do...such as any rolls or eating and getting some rest. :)
Brahmah d20+8=20 Saturday January 8th, 2005 9:59:29 PM
Brahmah suggests a cold camp. Reason being the fact that a fire would be a beacon to bandits. He ties all their food up in a nearby tree, hearing rumor from Kanchana about the animals being nearby. (Survival 20) His experience says its the safest way to avoid random animal threats.
He'll take a middle watch shift, second or third.
Flat-top Sunday January 9th, 2005 7:23:46 AM
Flat-top agrees with Kanchana, Dead dry wood is perfect for a quick camp fire. He'll volentier to take first watch, and does not need the light of the camp fire, a cold camp is best (like Brahmah said), he's not worried after all he has night vision.
He'll eat, sleep after his watch or when he get a chance, wash when they come across water. He'll march by Kanchana side(He'll be on the outside of her) or where ever Brahmah tells him to. This will be the patern that he'll follow, changes if he is ordred to.
Leets Sunday January 9th, 2005 7:53:16 AM
Leets will search for dries wood with his friend Flat-Top, looking over his shoulder to the camp from time to time...
"This looks like a quiet evening..."
"Flat-Top, what kind of news is waiting for us in the city, to your mind?"
Zeoll Sunday January 9th, 2005 9:19:43 PM
Zeoll and Croc will take first watch. They stand guard together, and are vigilant and alert.
Gecktar d20+3=5 d20+3=18 Monday January 10th, 2005 5:13:09 AM
Gecktar is proud that his captain had given him a task an will do his best to stay near Mikal. Even if Brahmah stay suspicious about humans, he agree Leets when he says that this one will not turn against them. But care is necessary as Marteus tortuous will can't be understood. So an eye on Mikal an an eye on the surrounding Gecktar helps to build the camp for the night. He will take the last watch (fourth) with Toros if his friend agrees.
(Spot 5, Listen 18)
Kanchana Monday January 10th, 2005 10:54:53 AM
Kanchana will take last watch since she prays at sunrise and will be up anyway. She will forage for some food for Ilder before joining the others at the campsite.
When she returns she tells the others,
"there are animal tracks all around here, probably wolves. Starting a fire will keep the wolves away, but possibly attract brigands or sentient creatures."
Kanchana isn't worried about wolves unless the number of tracks indicated a very large pack.
"It is probably best if no one leaves the campsite alone during the night, especially if we have no campfire."
Kanchana then takes care of her personal needs like eating, seeing that Ilder is fed and writing notes in her herbal compendrium. Her warnings given, the Warden is content that her duty to the others is done for now. She will go to bed early unless anyone intends to discuss anything she needs hear.
Kale Monday January 10th, 2005 1:42:29 PM

She then deposit the egg into the young man other hand. She sits on the shoulder of Mikel humming, witch grow in sound by the minute. "Hmmmm! HMMM! HMMM!". Then the eggs crack out come a little golden wyrn just like her mother.
(Now if the startle young man feed the little dragon, she will bond with the young man and never leave him. But if he does not feed the newly hatch little dragon, she'll fly off and find other dragong like herself. DM. You make the choice as to what happens)

After the camp is finished getting setup Solgrin will make some tea to drink then eat lightly. Afterwards Solgrin will settle down an sleep for about 2-3 hours then will wake up and do some studying of spells. Solgrin will help out with watch after prepairing his spells for the next day.

Brahmah Monday January 10th, 2005 6:26:27 PM
"Maybe a small fire wouldn't be too bad, not for heat necessarily, but for a little light for the young human."
He lays down some wood. "No damp logs on the fire. Smoke would attract things." He thinks for a moment. "But it keeps away bugs, one damp log wouldn't be bad I guess." He shudders at the thought of bugs.
The Night of Terror. (DM Jim) d100=7 Monday January 10th, 2005 6:51:40 PM
Mikal nods as the comment of a cold camp is brought up and he packs away all the stuff that requires cooking. He instead breaks out the dry type rations. "So we eat the other stuff instead." He just shrugs as he takes a bite of one of the pieces of jerky and a chunk of bread.
As the night starts to set in and the group starts to talk over what was found out with the search, it is decided that a small fire would be best. Watches are assigned and each person is awakened for thier watch.
Mikal looks to the rat that is dropped in his lap and then the egg as it is placed in his hands. He shakes slightly with excitement as he listens to the little dragon hum on his shoulder. As the egg hatches he gasps and almost drops the little hatchling as he gets more excited. He looks up as Solgrin approaches and cannot keep the smile from his face. "For me?" He is quick to take up the instructions that are given to him by Solgrin as he sings a soothing lullaby that he was sung as a child, he also feeds the little hatchling a little as well.
During the watch right before the last one that night glowing eyes appear in the perimeter of the firelight. Toros shakes Gecktar as he points out to the eyes but Gecktar had already heard the low growls. A quick count puts the number at at least fourteen wolves mulling around the camp area.
Toros d20=19 d20=8 Monday January 10th, 2005 9:56:41 PM
Noticing the approaching wolves Toros tries to warn others, "Wake up! Wolves!" and waits to see how his friends will be able to react before the wolves attack....

Gecktar Tuesday January 11th, 2005 3:54:08 AM
Gecktar's senses are alert. He firmly take his weapon and shield, and with slow moves goes to wake up Kanchana and Zeoll. As he knows, they are those that know the best all animals roaming on the Wold.
He then take his place near the young human to protect him.
"Mikal, Mikal... wake up..." he says "Stay near to me so I can protect you. Come close to the fire because usually animals fear it"

Zeoll (AC16, HP46) d20+8=16 Tuesday January 11th, 2005 5:36:15 AM
Zeoll thanks Gektar and Toros as he wakes up. He is glad that he sleeps in his light, magic armor. He tells Croc to stay.
He quickly moves next to Brahmah and joins him in trying to calm the animals and change their attitudes from hostile to friendly. [Wild Empathy Check 16]
He tries to pick out the biggest wolf to target with a Charm Animal spell if diplomacy fails.
"Don't attack yet," he calls out to his friends.
Kanchana d20+5=11 Tuesday January 11th, 2005 5:41:40 AM
Kanchana awakens immediately; adrenalin pumping, as she hears the urgency in the voices of the others - and in Brahmah's call to the Chosen.
Kanchana does her best to 'read' the wolves, but doesn't do too well (wild empathy 11). She must still be tired?
(NOTE: Kanchana will only do this last part if Brahmah's and Zeoll's efforts fail. If their efforts succeed Kanchana will back them up in any way she can.)
Failing to understand why the wolves are being hostile she opts to do something totally out of character for herself.
She stands up to her full height, roughs up her hair (making herself seem even bigger), gives the wolves a really mean glare - making herself appear to be meanest, biggest predator around.
And then... she lets out the loudest, most vicious, predatory, leonine roar she can muster. With any luck it should make everyones', and every wolves, blood run cold.
Kanchana is doing her level best to make it seem to the wolves that they really don't want to mess with an irate she-wemic.
She continues to keep her strong, predatory posture, her hind paws are tamped and she seems ready to pounce on them, as her loud roar echoes off into the night.
Kanchana considers what spells might help, but those thoughts are at the back of her thoughts. She subconsciously hopes her trick works.
(Wild Empathy 11)
Brahmah Tuesday January 11th, 2005 6:22:30 AM
Speaking quietly, Brahmah tells Zeoll. "If you cast, hit the Alpha." His eyes remain fixed on the creatures.
The minotaur can't help but to glance at the she-wemic and smile at her attempt.

After his watch, Flat-top will go to a nice strong tree and scratch his back and rump. Then lean on the tree, falling fast asleep. But just the word "Chosen" from Brahmah, is enough for him to awaken to danger.
He look around to see where the danger is coming from, then he will trot around where the mules at teddered. Flat-top will swings his morning star, stomp the ground with his for legs and kick up his back hoves. He hope that this will discurage the animals to try to eat the mules.

Feeling relief that the Chosen are quick to get ready to face the wolves, Toros will also step backward and come close to where Gecktar and Mikal stand. He is in full defense and does not remove his eyes from the alpha, if he can notice it (spot 8+3=11).
Leets Tuesday January 11th, 2005 12:50:41 PM
Although not really surprised by the wolves, Leets considers the attack seriously. He faced the situation many times when he was a sheperd, but the beasts seemed to be many this time...
He grabs his club, and whispers:
"Kanchana, do you have a way to make this end without violence?"
"Managarm, Managarm! Stay here!"
Solgrin (HP 26/26 AC: 20 (mage armor)) Tuesday January 11th, 2005 4:39:46 PM
Solgrin casts mage armor on himself then readies his spiked chain.
Lions, Tigers and Bears....no WOLVES. (DM Jim) Tuesday January 11th, 2005 8:47:45 PM
Toros yells a warning to the others as he watches the wolves circleing the camp. He steps back to have a better position to help out Gecktar in protecting the human Mikal.
Brahmah comes awake as his warrior instincts register the warning. He rolls to his hooves with weapons drawn and he also makes a call to his Chosen. The wolves seem to be in a fit of somekind and not to agreeable at this time. Brahmah suggests that Zeoll try and hit the alpha of the pack to get maximum effect.
Gecktar moves to wake Kanchana and Zeoll so that those most knowledgeable of things wild can maybe help out. He then moves over the short distance to stand by the young human that has came awake. He gives the boy some advice and then goes back to watching the wolves.
Zeoll wakes and gives thanks to Gecktar and Toros for thier warnings and waking. He moves up to stand by Brahmah and makes an attempt to change the attitude of the animals. He finds that it does not seem to do much good as they still pace back and forth as if waiting for something. He asks for no attacks till he can try and get them out of this without fighting. Zeoll sees no wolf that he would count as the alpha male yet. {figured you would want to hold your spell}
Kanchana finds out mostly the same things that Brahmah and Zeoll would of from the wolves. They are agitated by something or something along those lines. Kanchana decides to make herself seem to be one mean wemic as she postures for the wolves. She is just hoping that this display of aggression and strength will convience the wolves to retreat.
Flat-top comes to as the Captain hollers at his group to prepare themselves. He makes his way over to the mules and stomps the ground, making a display much like Kanchana is doing for the wolves. Intimidation may just be thier friend on this one.
Kale makes himself ready with his bow as he comments about the group should have been more careful. The fact that animal tracks were seen was brought up but seemingly ignored to a point.
Leets would not have had a problem with this little display of the wolves if the numbers would not have been rather large. He looks to Kanchana for a solution that will not involve violence. He commands Managarm to stand his ground and stay where he is at.
Solgrin casts a single spell upon himself, increasing his own protection as he looks to the wolves. He pulls out his spiked chain and makes ready to attack if he has to.
------------------------------------------------
Mikal comes awake with all of his wits about him, much like a seasoned warrior. He comes to his feet with a sword in his one hand and a dagger in the other. He had slept in his armor not really feeling comfortable without it. He nods to Gecktar and then to Toros as he looks over the situation. "I will stand with you...you are as much my responsibility as I am yours." This statement seems to ring true in your ears as he turns slightly to keep himself back to back with these two taurs.
The mules would have spooked but Mikal had hobbled them and put blinders on them for the night. The fact that they are cut off one direction from the wolves by the wagon also helps. They calm down even more as the centaur moves over to stand near them, but they bray lightly.
The wolves look up as a howl comes from a little ways away. Then you see a larger gray male step into the light created by the moon and fire. The first thing that is noticeable is that something is not quite right about any of these wolves. They seem very angry and almost chomping at the bit for the hunt.

(Spot of 27)
Brahmah notices the disease. He drops his kukri AND falchion, retrieves his wand of speak with animals and tap himself with it. He speaks to the wolves. "My lupen friends, you are ill. We help you. We aren't your enemies." The minotaur looks genuinely concerned for the animals welfare.
He turns slowly to the agressively sized wemic Kanchana, "Stop. They are sick."
He then hands to wand to her. "Use this and speak with them too. Tell them your a friend!"
He suggests that the Chosens animals stay clear of the wolves. Brahmah tell Leets to be aware of Managarm. "We need no rabid friends among the Chosen."
Gecktar d20+3=14 Wednesday January 12th, 2005 3:22:13 AM
Gecktar feels unconfortable to sleep with his armor so he don't do it but this was the last watch turn and his night is over since a moment now. So he has already dressed his armor.
Staying near Mikal and Toros, he calls for the power of domi and touches the shoulder of the young human saying "The blessing of Domi is on you".
(Protective ward from protection domain for Mikal who receive +4 for his next save)
(Spot check 14)

OOC: Spot 16
"Whoa! There! Easy There!" Flat-top tries to calm the mules, but cannot miss the foaming drool.
"Zoell! watch your Pet, these wolf are sick. That goes double for you Leets! Managram has a habit of blinking in and out of trouble."
Flat-top keeps stumping the ground to keep the wolves at bay.
Paw'caw(ceil) Wednesday January 12th, 2005 5:09:02 AM
Paw'caw is asleep in the tree top and will stay that way for now.
Managram(ceil) Wednesday January 12th, 2005 5:14:21 AM

Elder(ceil) Wednesday January 12th, 2005 5:25:03 AM
Elder is sleeping peacefully, after all he had a long day hunting and looking for treasure. When his den is being toss and sways around. He sticks his head out of the pouch, And??
There are Wolves out there! He burries his body into his cozy den and hold on.
Crock(ceil) Wednesday January 12th, 2005 5:31:43 AM
Crock (who is next to Zeoll) sences the danger, he growls "Grrrooolll!" and whip whips his tail 'Swish! Swish!'
If you could read his mind, you would hear *If I was in water, I'd drown the lot of you!!*
Kanchana d20+5=19 d20+12=26 d20+5=23 Wednesday January 12th, 2005 6:07:50 AM
Kanchana stares at Brahmah for a second, nods quickly and then takes his wand and uses it on herself. She hands the wand back to Brahmah immediately.
Now she studies the wolves physical characteristics with her training as a healer. She sees that they are indeed rabid (Spot 19, Heal 26). Sadly when the disease has come as far as foaming at the mouth she doesn't know any mundane cure for it. The wolves will eventually die.
"Chosen, these are not common wolves, they are greater wolves. They have the foaming-sickness; it is an ultimately fatal sickness at this stage." (Taurs speak Taurish, not Common among themselves, so the dire wolves won't know what she is saying I hope.)
Kanchana takes a breath, "at the stage they have the sickness they cannot be healed mundanely. We will need to call upon the grace of Father Tomi to heal them. Only the magical cure for sicknesses might help."
Kanchana keeps her intimidating/dominant posture, she is hoping to convey to the wolves that she is the alpha female of their pride, and therefore must be listened to.
Kanchana addresses the alpha male of the wolf pack. Speaking their own language now. She tries to use Wild Empathy again, but this time to emulate her favorite skill of Diplomacy (Wild Empathy 23).
She feels that this is going well for once, normally she doean't always feel much kinship with animals. Maybe it is because they are hurting and need help?
"Hunt leader; and pack-mates, you are gravely ill with a sickness that will be your deaths unless healed. If you stand down and do not attack us we may be able to heal you," Kanchana keeps her voice steady, but sympathetic, "if you attack us we will be forced to defend ourselves. You will also make The Mother of All Life sad if you do not try and seek healing."
Kanchana feels confident that her words might calm the wolves and make them inclined to accept healing. Hopefully someone actually knows a spell or prayer to heal sickness, Kanchana cannot cast it herself.
(Spot 19, Heal 26, Wild Empathy (used as Diplomacy) 23)
Toros (HP 47)(inspire courage +1) d20=12 Wednesday January 12th, 2005 9:50:38 AM
(spot d20+3=15>13) Toros does not understand what others are talking with the animals, and this makes him uneasy, not knowing what to do. However, his trained eyes can notice that there is something wrong with the wolves, and he keeps his position. Then, he starts singing a simple song to increase the morale of the Chosen, and their animal friends, as noone knows what will happen next. (Inspire Courage+1)
Kale d20+7=12 Wednesday January 12th, 2005 10:10:41 AM
not seeing the foaming mouths at first, Kale realizes whats wrong with them once everyone starts trying to make friends with the wolves. "Ive seen these type of wolves before." Kale says to the others "Ive seen goblins ride them. Your wasting your time, They are evil." then Kale pulls out a potion, drinks it, and floats up 10 ft in the air(drinks potion of levitation)
Solgrin (HP 26/26 AC: 20 (mage armor)) d20+2=7 Wednesday January 12th, 2005 2:58:14 PM
Solgrin remains ready incase the wolves attack. Solgrin will move slowly towards Kanchana to help her if she is attacked.
**** spot 7 ****
Zeoll (AC16, HP46) Wednesday January 12th, 2005 6:26:19 PM
Zeoll tells Croc to stay back for now.
The druid/bard whispers to Kale -- "You'rre thinking of warrgs! These arre just big wolves, and no morre evil than you orr me, I think."
He waits to see if Kanchana has any luck. If not he casts his Charm Animal spell on the one he thinks is the Alpha (the biggest). (That's a readied action.)
Dire Wolves, but not the Leader. (DM Jim) Wednesday January 12th, 2005 6:52:56 PM
Brahmah drops his weapons to pull out a wand and taps himself with it. He pleads with the dire wolves to please stop and that they are friends. He tosses it to Kanchana so that she can also try and plead with the dire wolves. He also suggests that they keep their animals away from them to keep them safe.
Gecktar had put on his armor as he had the next to last watch anyways. He lays his hand on Mikal and casts a spell into the young man.
Flat-top continues to calm the mules as he keeps up the intimidation. He also warns the group about watching thier animal companions and familiars.
Paw'caw continues to sleep on in the tree that she bedded down in.
Managarm barks in defiance to the dire wolves, while continueing to keep his place by his master.
Roz is happy, warm and snug alseep in his masters hair when she is awakened a little. She inquires of Solgrin if he will be needing any help.
Elder peeps out for just a second and then hides back in his little pouch.
Croc makes a show of aggression of his own as he swishes his tail. He voices his own unhappiness about and at the dire wolves. He just wishes he had some water so that he could show them a thing or two.
Kanchana takes the wand and tries to talk to the wolves as well. Though she does take the time to let the Chosen know that these are not normal wolves but dire wolves. She also lets it be known that they have a serious disease that is fatal and may have gone too far. She feels that she has had some success with the dire wolves as she talks but it is hard to tell with the more intelligent races.
Toros starts to sing an inspiring song as the others go about thier own business. He knows that the others are trying to talk the wolves down and this does bother him some, mostly from not knowing what to do.
Kale makes ready with his bow as he lets them know that dire wolves are an evil race and cannot be trusted. He drinks a potions and slowly floats up into the air, some ten feet that is.
Solgrin slowly moves over to stand beside Kanchana in case she is attacked. He is ready for anything.
Zeoll lets Kale know that he thinks he is thinking of the wrong type of wolves here, but he is not totally sure. He hopes that Kanchana has luck as she talks to the dire wolves, but keeps a spell ready just in case.
------------------------------------------------
The mules are quieted for now as Flat-top talks to them and calms them. They still have nowhere to go anyways and noway to escape.
Mikal accepts the spell that is cast upon him as he looks to the wolves. He hopes that a fight can be avoided but he is still prepared.
The large gray male seems to get a sick smile upon his face as he listens to what is said. To your amazement he speaks in a throaty growl. "The one that gave us this gift will not let us die so soon." He looks around to his packmates and seems to nod as he pulls back and lets out a howl. It appears that the attack is about to start and there will be no more talking. "The Silver Pack serves without question." ------------------------------------------------
{Zeoll - Will set up your spell to happen the first thing in my next post. You can go ahead and set yourself up a different action. :)}
Kanchana d20+12=14 Wednesday January 12th, 2005 9:11:40 PM
Kanchana isn't that surprised by the talking great wolf; anything is possible if the Powers will it.
Suddenly the Warden looks aloof, maybe even condescending. There is a certain coldness evident in her demeanor.
"You allowed the Vile One to defile you? To poison your bodies?" she sneers vehementally.
"The Vile One promised you that He might let the sickness leave you living. He forgot to mention that the Chosen of Father Tomi would not suffer you to continue your cursed lives in order to defile others," Kanchana says with utter coldness and contempt.
The alpha male's clear indication that he serves Marteus has sealed his; and his packs, fate as far as Kanchana is concerned. She no longer considers the dire wolves natural creatures; now they are an affront to Mother Wold and her true children. They are almost as bad as Undead in her view.
"Pest vermin," she snarls under her breath.
Kanchana prepares to cast Entangle, centered behind the wolves, so it won't hinder the Chosen as well.
(Concentration (Combat Casting) 14. Just in case.)
At the moment that the wolf speaks, Zeoll's mind becomes clear, and he knows that he was wrong about this creature at least. "These Wolves serrve the Sick God, I believe!" he cries.
He know that his Charm Animal spell won't work on a talking beast. So he immediately casts Entangle on as many of the beasts as possible (standard action). [Reflex save 14 partial] -- he tries to target a different area than Kanchana, but if there is overlap, that's okay too. Maybe they will have to make two saves in the overlap area?
Then the liontaur steps back 10 or 15 feet, putting Croc between himself and the wolves (Move Action). "Defend me!" he orders Croc (PHB page 75).
[OOC: Ceil, did I ever give you the combat stats for Croc? I'll e-mail you! Thanks!]
Brahmah (AC 21, 83hp) Thursday January 13th, 2005 2:30:22 AM
Brahmah reaches out for the wand, then the wolf speaks. The wand remains in Kanchana's hand.
Brahmah sort of shrugs. "Well, can't say we didn't try. But now we know that even the animals aren't free of Marteus' diseased grasp." He bends over and retrieves his weapons.(Two Move Actions, AoO)
Gecktar (AC22 hp49) Thursday January 13th, 2005 3:10:20 AM
Gecktar stays side by side with Toros and Mikal. He then calls for protection from his Patron to escape from the sight of the asaillants. Muttering some strange words, a pale aura surround him for a instant and then disappear.
He also says to Mikal : "I'm a healer, if you are in dire situation during this fight, don't keep it for yourself. Call me and I will heal you the best I can. And please no foolish bravery... We need you alive as a servant of the light as well as for guide"
(Cast sanctuary on himself DC14 Will save)
Kale(ac 20, hp 60) d20+7=26 d8+3=9 Thursday January 13th, 2005 6:58:30 AM
"Told ya." Kale says as he shoots at the first wolf(hit ac 26 for 9 pts of damage). Kale says floating where he is and counts the number of wolves he can see.
Flat-top swing his Morningstar back anf forth, Kale start shooting at the wolves?? "Kale! Did Brahmah give the order to attack??."
If the wolves comes to attack the mules, Flat-top will discurage them buy attacking the nearest one to the mules.
Leets Thursday January 13th, 2005 1:47:46 PM
Leets grins as he also understands what's happening. Thightening his grip on his club, he prepares for the assault...
"Managarm...They 're a lot...Wait for them and stand near me my dog..."
Toros(HP 47)(inspire courage +1) Thursday January 13th, 2005 8:30:41 PM
Seeing Gecktar and Mikhal are well-prepared for the fight, Toros will climb onto the Wagon to get a better position for the coming battle. (Assuming that the place of the wagon is at back and next to or near to where Gecktar and Mikhal are; and he can climb on it). Then he will draw his longbow and ready an arrow targeted against the first wolf that will attack. Meanwhile he continues singing and inspiring the Chosen. (+1 on damage and attack rolls, and fear saves I guess)
An Ammendment. (DM Jim) Thursday January 13th, 2005 9:16:52 PM
Sorry for no battle map. I am sending out one tonight for all of you to have a look at. It will show how things are with the current set of posts that you have made.
I am giving you a chance to change your post if you want to fit in with the map. Think of this as a freebie chance to make a bigger impact.
Think of it as a late X-Mas present from your DM. :)
I will of course give out a real post tomorrow that will indicate all attacks and movements of both The Chosen and the Wolves.
Toros - OOC Thursday January 13th, 2005 9:42:44 PM
I was hoping like, "there is no battle map yet, thus there is no battle set". However, now I can see that the war is inevitable :-)
And I think now it is not meaningful for Toros to go near the Wagon, and I will rethink my posting and make a change. Thank you for this chance!
Zeoll (AC16, HP46, Inspire Courage) Thursday January 13th, 2005 10:16:58 PM
OOC: Zeoll definitely casts the Entangle, for sure. Does he have time to do anything else? Oh, and nice map!
His next action is to move 40 feet southwest and then cast Charm Animal on Dire Wolf da (range 30 ft). He tells Croc to follow and defend.
Brahmah (AC 21, 83hp) Friday January 14th, 2005 1:21:00 AM
Brahmah is upset that the negotiations with the wolves went poorly, but is even more upset at the attacks laid down by the Chosen. "Defend yourselves Chosen."
Brahmah turns and activates his tattoo. His artwork glows and sparkles as he points to (on the axis of W/X-7/8) casting Entangle. He tries to keep Solgrin out of his tangle.
Solgrin (HP 26/26 AC: 20 (mage armor)) 2d6(5+5)=10 Friday January 14th, 2005 2:47:48 AM
Solgrin casts Flaming Sphere (appears at R11) then moves it to S11.
De needs Reflex save DC 16 or take DMG 10
Gecktar (AC22 hp49) Friday January 14th, 2005 3:19:03 AM
Gecktar continues to cast spells that will give them potential advantage. Dropping some silver powder around him he calls for the goodness of Domi so that he will be protected against evil.
(OOC cast protection from evil)
Active spells : - Sanctuary (DC14 will save) 3 rounds - Protection from Evil 40 rounds - Morale bonus (Toros Chanting)
Flat-top(AC21 85/85hp)Tattoes-Heal & Protection from Evil Friday January 14th, 2005 5:00:18 AM
Move Flat-top from G-6 to either H-5 or I-5 to battle Wolf d-8 and Wolf d-9 at H-3 and I3.
Flat-top can only see the wolves that are coming for the mules. Those are the ones that he's fighting.
OOC: Can I keep my last roll there too good to pass up. They were Attack AC 35(critical) & Ac 30 - Damages 9=10=19. And since Gecktar cast Protection from Evil, Do I add +1 to attack and damages?? Thank-you for the late Christmas Present.
Toros AC 26 ( +3 from defensive fight) HP 47 Friday January 14th, 2005 5:56:51 AM
Noticing that there is no meaning to reach the wagon at the moment, Toros maintains his position near to the fire place. He stops his inspiring song, knowing that its morale effect will remain in the ears and mind of his friends for longer. Now he has the time to create the opposite effect on the wolves and worg, and once more, he relies on his magical abilities so that he can demoralize the enemies who will attempt to attack Chosen. (cast bane, 50ft radius, will negates)
Then Toros withdraws his weapon and readies for the next round of fight. He is fighting defensively and may make a 5-step move to better position himself against any opponent.
Active spells -Inspire courage for 5 rounds (+1 to attack and damage rolls for all allies) -Bane for 1 minute (-1 to attack rolls for all enemies)
Kale(ac 20, hp 60, levitate 10ft) Friday January 14th, 2005 7:17:28 AM
OOC, my post stays the same, my arrow being directed at wolf de
Kanchana (HP 44/44, AC 19) (Inspire Courage) Friday January 14th, 2005 6:14:23 PM
Kanchana would still have cast her entangle spell just behind the wolves. However she will take one step back, so she isn't quite on the very front row of the 'pitched battle'. She does this in case anyone near her will need healing or back up. Kanchana slides Brahmah's wand into either her belt or a beltpouch depending on what would be quickest; she does this as she steps back. She draws her scimitar at the same time, albeit slowly.

Zeoll fires off his spell and then starts to move towards the rear area of the camp. He calls for Croc to defend and follow as he moves. He hopes that Croc will be able to keep up with him but knows that the crocodile is slower. He also hopes that his spell has effect upon the dire wolf(da).
Brahmah turns and activates a tattoo to send his own spell towards the wolves off to the side of them. His positioning is to keep Solgrin out of it and safe from being caught.
Solgrin also casts a spell from where he stands and sends a flaming sphere moving towards a dire wolf(de). The ball slams itself at the dire wolf and solgrin turns his attention to all around him.
Gecktar casts another spell that radiates out from himself. It settles in around him and he smiles a little with the new protection.
Flat-top moves and cuts off two of the wolves from being able to approach a little farther into the camp. Well at least without getting by him without causing an attack on them. His attacks smack into the dire wolf(d8) with some authority and the wolf flinches under the assault.
Toros casts another spell this round to hurt the enemy during their battle. He then draws his weapon and makes himself ready for what is to come.
Kale fires off an arrow from his floating position at the closest of the dire wolves(de). His arrow is true and finds a niche in the dire wolves heavy fur.
Kanchana sends out a spell that calls upon the powers of nature as several others have. She then takes a step back so that she is in a better position to give aid to the others. She also slips Brahmah's wand into he belt till later.
Croc moves on along to follow Zeoll but is left behind as his land legs do not allow him to cover as much ground.
Leets and Managarm maintain their ground against the beasts. Their thoughts at this point are for defense more than anything. Let the enemy commit itself to an attack and then cut it off.
------------------------------------------------
The worg is able to escape the entanglement that sprouts up and moves out of the area.
Dire wolf(d1) is able to escape the entanglement and escape out into the open area.

Dire wolf(d8&d9) fling themselves at Flat-top as he pulls up to mix it up with them. Both of the wolves become snapping jaws as they try to bit into Flat-top(hit: 30 and damage: 10 / hit: 17 and damage: 13).
Dire wolf(da&db) move forward and bite at Zeoll as he takes up a position by Gecktar. Both wolves snap and snarl as the bite at Zeoll with much ferocity (hit: 26 and damage: 17 / hit: 15 and damage: 15).
Dire wolf(dc) is able to escape the entanglement spell and moves out to attack someone next round.
Dire wolf(dd) is caught up in the writhing branches of the bush that he is standing by.
Dire wolf(de&df) are both able to escape into the clear area that the entangle spell has no effect upon.
------------------------------------------------
Mikal moves down and a little to the side so that he can move into a better position to attack a dire wolf(da). He brings his sword and then his dagger slashing in at the dire wolf trying to lend aid to those that he is leading.

Toros AC 26 ( +3 from defensive fight) HP 47 d20=14 d8=7 d6=1 d6=6 Friday January 14th, 2005 11:29:12 PM
Toros will shoot a masterwork arrow at the dire wolf at D11 (d7), finding it the easiest target, as it struggles with the grasses (-4 penalty to its effextive dexterity), distant from any Chosen.
Without waiting to see the consequences of his attack and maintaining his defensive posture, he will quickly move to K5 so that he can assume a supportive role for Flat-top or Mikhal, if it becomes necessary. If he finds time, he will be placing another arrow to his longbow for the next round.
Active spells -Inspire courage for 4 rounds (+1 to attack and damage rolls for all allies) -Bane for 1 minute (-1 to attack rolls for all enemies)
OOC: I have two questions, if you may answer Dear DM, and Chosen:
1. Can Toros shoot two arrows as a full round action with a penalty for the second arrow? If not, shoot three arrows in two rounds...
2. And for large creatures, does the damage of longbow arrow is d8 or 2d6? And who do we mean by large creatures - the shooter or the target?

Kanchana has her scimitar ready, but makes no attack. She tries to keep an eye out on the wolves approaching both Solgrin and Brahmah. Kanchana decides to prioritize Solgrin since he might be more likely be attacked; and injured. She really would love to erradicate these corrupted wolves, but knows better than to let emotion guide one's actions in combat.
Suddenly Ilder does something to make her very proud. He jumps out of his pouch/nest, runs over and attacks one of the wolves. She smiles.
Kanchana mulls over what she knows about great wolves, and canine creatures in general. She is trying to remember if they have any vulnerable spots, or weaknesses. (Knowledge Nature 30, Survival 28)

Zeoll (AC16, HP 46 of 46) (Inspired) 2d6(1+4)=5 Sunday January 16th, 2005 8:56:34 PM
[OOC: Jamie, you said "hit: 26 and damage: 17 / hit: 15 and damage: 15" -- Zeoll is AC16, so I'm assuming one hit and one miss -- is that right? Also, what happened with the charm animal spell cast on wolf da?]
Zeoll yelps, "Ow!" as two wolves rush him. He takes a five-foot step back northeast, so that his back is to the fire and he is standing between Gecktar and Croc.
Gecktar taps him with the wand, and heals him! Zeoll says, "Thanks!"
Now out of range of those jaws, he casts an extended flaming sphere on wolf db (reflex save DC15 for 5 or none if save).
As two of the dire wolves jump into the melee on his right, the centaur paladin moves quickly to stand on their way (I11) and slams his club at the first one (d4, 22 and 16 to hit, 5 and 8 damage).
"For the Glory of Domi! Marteau's beasts shall not see another night!"

Zeoll finds himself under attack by two wolves. One he had hoped to of turned to a friend, but it looks like that will not happen. He backs off to put himself in a better position and thanks Gecktar for the healing. He then summons up his own flaming sphere and sends it after dire wolf(db). The sphere throws itself at the wolf to miss much as Solgrin's flaming sphere had missed earlier.
Brahmah moves in on the worg and slashes into it with his weapons. He finds that he is only able to land two blows with his falchion. Still they do some pretty good damage on the worg.
Solgrin directs his flaming sphere to chase after the dire wolf(de) it had hit earlier. The sphere throws itself at the dire wolf and misses by a scant few inches.
Gecktar senses that Zeoll is in trouble and moves to his aid with his curing wand. He gently taps the taur for a nice amount of healing.
Flat-top slams his morningstar into one dire wolf(d9) with much success. He then rears up to attack the other dire wolf(d8) with his hooves and finds both attacks connecting with the things body.
Toros fires off an arrow at one of the dire wolves(d7) that is caught in the tangling grasses. He then moves to take a defensive position to cover Flat-top or Mikal as needed. Though he does not watch his arrow it does hit the wolf doing some damage.
Kale fires off another arrow at the dire wolf(de) that he had shot earlier. His arrow literally punches through the wolf and then out the other side to bury itself into the ground.
Kanchana tries to keep her eyes on all those around her, but especially on those that are most obvious targets. She is surprised and proud of her Ilder as he attacks a wolf. Though she racks her brain she comes up with nothing specific on fighting wolves that may give them the advantage, though she does know that usually wolves of all kinds are pack hunters.
Leets jumps into the attack now swinging his club at the nearest dire wolf(d4). He gives a yell as he attacks for the glory of Domi. His first attack lands on the wolf but the second ruffles the wolf's fur and nothing more. He calls to Managarm to attack with him.
Croc catches up with his master and makes ready to defend him as best he can with the wolves that are hurting his master.
Paw'caw sleeps on unaware of the battle that rages around her, but below her as well. Though with the first sounds of combat she dow wake and look down at the ground, it is just too dark for her to even think of flying.
Managarm follows his master's lead and blinks in to attack the same dire wolf(d4) that his master attacks. He finds his teeth tasting flesh and then blinks back to his original position.
Raz sees what is going on but decides not to but in as long as she is not told to.
Elder slips out of her pouch and runs across the ground to run up one of the dire wolve's legs(df). He is only able to get half way back though as he slips down the things leg and takes off at a full run.

The worg accepts the hits that fall upon it from the taur and growls in anger back. Then the jaws come in snapping at the taur with feriocity(hit: 26/15 and damage: 16/miss).
Dire wolf(d1) throws himself at Brahmah as he moves forward. His jaws snap shut as he tries to rend flesh and bone(hit: 22 and damage: 7).
Dire wolf(d2&d3) find that the grasses will not relinquish their hold upon them.
Dire wolf(d4) growls and then bites back at Leets as his steps to the side of the second club swing. It goes for the nearest piece of flesh that it can reach to cause damage(hit: 25 and damage: 11).
Dire wolf(d5) moves forward and sends itself snapping at Brahmah being the first one that it comes across (hit: 14 and damage: 9).
Dire wolf(d6&d7) find the grasses wilting away around them and they are soon able to move. They both race into the combat before them. Dire wolf(d7) bodily throws himself at Leets as he jumps at his legs(hit: 30 and damage: 15). Dire wolf(d6) does more or less the same thing as it's partner, but it's attack is aimed at Managarm instead(hit: 18 and damage: 13).
Dire wolf(d8&d9) continue to press thier attack on Flat-top, trying to drive him back or better yet...kill him(hit: 21 and damage: 16 / hit: 13 and damage: 14).
Dire wolf(da) turns it's attention to the young man that had hit it earlier with the sword (hit: 25 and damage: 12).
Dire wolf(db) continues to chase down Zeoll and then snaps at him again(hit: 13 and damage: 15).
Dire wolf(dc) chases down Zeoll as it sees no other nearby enemy to attack...the closest is floating in the air(hit: 17 and damage: 10).
Dire wolf(dd) continues to fight the grasses as they hold him tight.
Dire wolf(de) chases down the little rodent that just bit it. It figures to catch it and kill the little pest since it is with thier enemy(hit: 18 and damage: 17).
Dire wold(df) races forward and springs at Solgrin with all intentions of biting the taur, maybe something lethal(hit: 22 and damage: 14).
------------------------------------------------
Mikal continues his assault on the dire wolf(da) that had attacked Zeoll earlier and now turned on him. He brings his sword and then his dagger slashing in at the dire wolf trying to end it's life and save his own.

He directs the flaming sphere at Wolf da (Refx save DC 15 or take 8 damage), then he steps back five feet (to the square north of Croc and west of Kale). Out of reach again, for a moment, Zeoll casts Hideous Laughter on wolf dc (Will save 12 (reduced by 4 from the usual 16) or fall prone in laughter).

She touches it to Solgrin healing him the worst of his injuries, lowly muttering a few words as does. She prays that Gecktar can help Zeoll just as quick. "Gecktar, to Zeoll!" she calls out.
Kanchana snarls defiantly at the circle of great wolves.

OOC : Here are two courses of actions depending on the state of Zeoll.
Zeoll, I think only dire wolf (dc) bite you for 10 damage. Dire wolf (db) hit AC 13 and you have AC 16. So its a miss. Jim could you state about this please.
1) If Zeoll is not badly hit (maybe he don't call for help) Gecktar says "keep on Zeoll, I keep an eye on you!" That said he calls for the battle prowess of Domi as with such numerous enemies he will have to fight and not only act as a backup healer.
(Cast Divine Favor)
Active spells : - Sanctuary (DC14 will save) 2 rounds - Protection from Evil 39 rounds - Morale bonus (Toros Chanting) - Divine Favor 10rd
2) If Zeoll is badly hurt for some reason (hit by both dire wolves)
Gecktar hears at the same time the call for help of Solgrim and Zeoll. At the moment he wants to alert Kanchana, he hears her call for him to help Zeoll. With no more hesitation he taps Zeoll with his wand (healing him 26 hp)
What follows will happen in both cases : Gecktar also sees Mikal being hit by one of the wolves. He asks him "Mikal! are you all right ?"

Seeing that the Chosen near the fire are in fierce attack and dire trouble, Toros wants to help them. However, as his friends are standing between him and his targets Toros hesitates to shoot from where he stands. On the other side, next to the wagon and mules, Flat-top seems to be doing all right by himself, at least for the moment. Thus, Toros passes safely through Mikhal and Flat-top and comes near bushes (Q3), while he watches that Chosen responds to the attacks of their opponents, and identifies a clear target for him (de). Then he sends his masterwork arrow to the dire wolf and looks behind it, hoping that it will have a strong impact on the dire wolf.

"Holy Father of the Taurs! Lead my arm and let your righteous wrath crush the evil's bones!"
"May Domi's power shine through my fist!"
Chaneling holy energy through his attack( smite evil), the Centaur paladin focuses on his first opponent (d4), with 24 and 23 to hit, and 14 and 10 damage.

Brahmah tears into the worg once again trying to cut it's ties. He hits solidly with his first two attacks but finds only a little fur with the last two.
Solgrin sends his chain out to hit the dire wolf(df) as it moves into his range. He yells about almost being dead and then strikes out at the dire wolf(df) with his spiked chain.
Gecktar calls to Zeoll to keep up his fight and he will keep an eye on him. He then hits himself with another spell so that he can join the fray.
Flat-top swings his morningstar at dire wolf(d9), striking it for some good damage. He then rears up and brings his hooves crashing into dire wolf(d8) as he yells for them to just die already.
Toros sees how dire things are and moves to get a better position to use his bow. He finds a nice opening and fires off an arrow into dire wolf(de). Though the shot is good it does not do as much damage as he would have liked.
Kale drops down behind dire wolf(dc) and stabs it in the hindquarters. His attack is on it's mark and finds a good spot in the soft parts.
Kanchana steps over and lays some healing into Solgrin as he is the closer taur needing healing. She then reminds Gecktar that he needs to try and help out Zeoll if he can.
Leets channels divine power through his body to end in his club. He then smashes it into the closest dire wolf(d4). His club smashes in twice with great success and does some decent damage.
Croc brings his jaws snapping down on the dire wolf(de) that just moved into his range.

Everyone - I would like to apologize for some rather lousy posts here lately. I have made some rather bad choices in information and stuff given out. For that I apologize to all of you and will do better in the future.

Zeoll lets those with the healing ability know that he was not hurt as bad as he though. He then sends his flaming sphere after dire wolf(db) which hits and burns the dire wolf. He then casts a spell that leaves a flame in his hand, which he throws at dire wolf(db).
Brahmah staggers back as he is dropped low with all the sudden attacks upon him. He calls out for healing from Kanchana if she hears him.
Solgrin directs his flaming sphere to attack dire wolf(df) as it makes another attack, missing as the dire wolf moves.
Gecktar analyzes the battle as it stands at this time and shakes his head with all the confusion. He moves forward and pours some healing into Mikal as he fights on with the dire wolf.
Flat-top swings his morningstar at dire wolf(d9), striking it for some good damage. He then rears up and brings his hooves crashing into dire wolf(d8) as he yells at both of them to not mess with taurs and die already.
Toros fires off an arrow into dire wolf(da), plunking it directly into it's butt. He then moves back into a better position near the fire.
Kale rips back into dire wolf(dc) with his sword. His attack is a success scoring some good damage on the dire wolf.
Kanchana sends healing into Brahmah as he takes a step back to stand near her. She also makes a suggestion about trying to regroup near Flat-top.
Leets just turns into a dervish as he lays into the dire wolf(d4) with his club. The attacks have set him off and he wants to end it quickly.
Croc snaps his tail around to connect solidly with dire wolf(de)'s face. He then opens up his mouth as if inviting the dire wolf to hop inside.
Paw'caw sees the light start to slowly rise up from the east. She lets a little poo fly as she waits for her moment.
Managarm does his little teleporting trick and bites in at the dire wolf(d5)'s backside. He then blinks back to his normal position and growls.
Raz pops out of her hiding place and hisses at the dire wolf, trying her best to be a real dragon. Unfortunately for her she has not breath abilities to speak of.
Ilder lays on the ground and continues to bleed out his lifeblood.

Kanchana hasn't been able to keep track of poor Ilder, so she most likely hasn't realized that her little companion is dying.
Then she finds one of those cursed abominations right up in her face. Kanchana is furious. She lashes out with every weapon she has (Taur multi attack). Her scimitar draws blood but her claw attacks miss. Kanchana makes a disappointed, rumbling, growling sound. It sounds awful primal. She eyes the blighted wolf menacingly.
(Fort check 21, attack (scimitar) AC20, does a mere 5HP of dmg; Attack claws (x2 paws, both at -5) AC 7 and AC 12, both miss.)

Zeoll worries about Flat-top. "Flat-top! Withdrraw! Come overr to us!" he shouts.
He directs his flaming sphere to wolf dc (reflex save DC 15 or take 6 damage) (move action). Then Zeoll throws another flame at the same wolf dc, but that misses (hit AC9, which fails even for a touch attack).
[LOL! My to hit roll last time was 2d6+3 instead of 1d20+3! No wonder I missed! What an idiot I am!]
[Jim, what's the wolves' AC vs a ranged touch attack?]
Finally, Zeoll encourages his Croc -- "Good boy!"

Toros Wednesday January 19th, 2005 11:09:03 PM
Having noticed that the poor weasel lays on the ground and is almost dead, Toros uses his magical skills to lift the tiny animal from the ground and move to a safer place so that it can be healed. (use mage hand to move Ilder to K9) Meanwhile Toros will make a 5-step move to K8 so that Ilder will be at his reach, when it starts landing. When it safely lands on, he will ask Kanchana's help to heal it.
OOC: I have no sense of the weight of Ilder and assume that it is less than 5lb. and "mage hand" can lift it. If it is not I will have to change my post. Could you please confirm that Toros can act like that? Also is the 15ft movement range limit ok, or the spell ends, when Ilder is still on the air? If so Toros will have to ask the help of Zeoll to catch Ilder on the air!!

OOC: Thank you Ceil. So, I hope Mage Hand can lift Elder without any problem.
The magical force lifts Elder and carries to the maximum distance (K9). Meanwhile Toros will call the attention of Kanchana to care and cure the poor weasel:
"Kanchana, Elder is at your back... needs your healing!"
Until Kanchana can take care after Elder, or Toros can safely move it to where he wants (K9) Toros will concentrate on the spell he has casted. Toros will also make a 5-step move to K8 so that Ilder will be at his reach, and, if, for some reason, Kanchana cannot cure Elder, he will try to catch and hold Elder to protect from any more damage. If Elder can be cured, he will let it go freely.
Toros still keeps a defensive posture (+3 to AC) and feels the tunes of his inspiring chant (+1 to attack and damage rolls), althought it has started to slowly fade away.

Kanchana heard Toros, "Toros I cannot back up nor turn around. I cannot help Ilder, because of these cursed creatures." Kanchana doesn't 'ignore' the wolf for very long; a second or two, she sees Zeoll directly behind her. "Zeoll, can you bandage Ilder please? I cannot reach him yet." Kanchana hopes that Zeoll knows a little bit about bandaging wounds to stop the bleeding.

Zeoll sends his flaming sphere after dire wolf(dc) which misses the wolf this time around. He then casts another flame at dire wolf(db). He misses with the flame. He does take the time to encourage his croc for his success.
Brahmah calls for them to hold their ground by the fire and then splits his attacks between the two targets before him. All of his attacks are on target this time and he sends out a prayer and thanks to Domi.
Solgrin directs his flaming sphere to attack dire wolf(df), this time it hits the wolf. He then throws one of his more potent spells into the fray. A large fireball impacts into the ground sending flames all about, but not touching The Chosen.
Gecktar slams his own attack into the dire wolf(dc) and seems to have hope that it is just about done in.
Flat-top jumps over the newest dire wolf to have come up behind him. He moves over to help out Leets who seems to be in trouble. He brings his morningstar to land heavily upon the dire wolf(d7)'s body.
Toros is able through the use of his magical arts to move little Ilder up behind Kanchana. He calls out to her so that she knows that her friend is behind her and in need of help.
Kale stabs back into dire wolf(dc) with his sword. His attack combined with Gecktars is enough to put the wolf down and out of the fight.
Kanchana rips into the dire wolf(d1) with her scimitar, doing a little damage. Her claws are another story as she misses the big wolf. She then inquires if Zeoll can help out her poor Ilder who is hurt and bleeding to death.
Leets takes out as much of his anger on dire wolf(d4) with his club as he can. His attacks send the dire wolf to the ground, beat and bloody.
Croc's jaws snap shut on the dire wolf before him with the power of his kind. It neatly takes the dire wolve's head off, sending a spray of blood to the right.
Paw'caw now has the light that she needs to at least fly around. She is more than happy to be able to finally help out in the battle.
Managarm pops out of the battle to not return as he has taken all that he cares to take in this fight.
Raz takes to wing and buries her claws into the dire wolf(df) that would dare attack her msater.
Ilder slowly floats through the air to land behind Zeoll, but is still bleeding out.

Solgrin is bitten so he sends a burning hands spell into the two dire wolves(df&d1), causing pain for the one but the other is already dead.
Gecktar pours healing into the labored Mikal who is showing signs of wear.
Flat-top finds his tattoo out of magic so he slams his morningstar into dire wolf(d7). He then rears up and strikes with one of his hooves successfully.
Toros heals up little Ilder and then pulls out his melee weapon after dropping his bow.
Kale moves over and aids Kanchana with the dire wolf(df) that stands near her. He stabs it in the hindquarters for some damage that puts the wolf in bad looking shape.
Kanchana gathers up little Ilder and secures him in his nest. She then taps Solgrin for some healing. She thanks Zeoll for his healing but did not notice that Gecktar helped out as well.
Leets applies a little healing to himself and then turns to start another fight.
Croc snaps his tail into an already dead dire wolf(de).
Paw'caw pulls out of the dive to find that she missed the dire wolf(d5) as it falls before she gets there.
Managarm does not return.
Raz surprises everyone as she kills of dire wolf(df) with her claw attacks.
Ilder stands weakly after what little healing he has gotten(2hp).
------------------------------------------------
The worg lets out a howl of rage and then another howl right after it. He then takes off at a dead run away.
All the living dire wolves also start a full retreat making good their escape. The dead ones still lay about on the ground where they fell.
------------------------------------------------
Mikal leans heavily on his sword and breathes heavily. "That was interesting." He looks to the Chosen and laughs lightly. "Well things are never dull around you lot I suppose."
------------------------------------------------
Congratulations, some experience will come soon. :)
Brahmah (48/83hp) Saturday January 22nd, 2005 1:03:06 AM
Brahmah sheathes his swords and starts issuing suggestions. "Clean up, heal, feed and we move. We've slept enough this day. Marteaus has the Wolds best trackers on us. The wolves merely regroup and return."
Gecktar d20+7=25 d20+7=13 d20+7=16 d20+7=9 d20+7=27 Saturday January 22nd, 2005 3:30:47 AM
Gecktar immediately asks someone to start a fire so they can make some water boil. Taking his newly acquired healing kit he begins to take every chosen and Mikal and clean their wounds to avoid the disease to take place.
some healing checks (25-13-16-9-27)
Toros 5d20(18+15+1+2+3)=39 Saturday January 22nd, 2005 5:11:16 AM
Toros collects his used arrows and some fur of the dead dire wolf for his totem bag. Then he tells his admiration to all, who fought very well against the dire things. Especially Kale's levitation, and Mikhal's fighting skills and Solgrin's fire bomb have impressed him a lot. While he is talking with others, he also helps Gecktar for his healing checks, (first 2 >10, other three < 10).
Toros will also check whether the dire wolves are still living or not.
(OOC: Are there any still alive dire wolves?)
He also asks Kanchana whether they can do anything for the diseased dire wolves, if they are not dead already, perhaps they can be healed also from the disease of Marteus.
OOC: DeaR DM. Perhaps I missed a previous point but could you please explain the reason that the biten ones had to do fortitude checks. If they would have failed what would have been the consequences? Also the entangle spell has ceased to exist where there were d6 and d7. Was it because of some spell affect or just the wolves managed to get rid of from the affect of the spell?
Used spells: bane, mage hand, cure light wounds (instead od domain spell), inspire courage.
Flat-top (AC22 23/85hp) Saturday January 22nd, 2005 10:37:50 AM
Flat-top yells at the retreating Wolves, "RUN! you bucket of Puss! Run back to your Yellow bellie Master!" Then he look at Brahmah, "Well I'm glad I got that off my chest, Oh! Yes the mules are alright."
Flat-top walks over to Kanchana, "Kitten! WOUld you please hit me with your healing wand, not too hard now!" then steals a kiss from her.

Kanchana set to healing those who have asked her for healing. She will leave others to Gecktar to help, so the duty will be divided some between both healers. Kanchana still hasn't realized that Gecktar has helped to save Ilder's life, because that was done behind her, so she couldn't see that. Kanchana will take Ilder out of his nest to see if he still has any serious injuries or any deep bites (searching for signs of infection.)
"Anyone who was bitten, I need to know if you feel sick at all. You must not hesitate to tell me or Gecktar. The sickness those great wolves have is ultimately fatal."
"Toros, the great wolves cannot be healed. They have only a long and painful death to look forward to; and Marteaus to thank for that."
(Search 10, Heal 21 (searching for signs of infection on/in (?) Ilder.))

Zeoll (AC16, HP 36 of 46) d20+5=24 Saturday January 22nd, 2005 8:56:06 PM
Zeoll takes a look at the fallen wolves. He wonders if their pelts are in good shape. If so, he skins and prepares them. (Survival 24, woot!)
He lets Croc have his wolf. "Good boy!" he tells the reptile. "You earrned yourr lunch!"
Zeoll asks Kanchana to take a look at his wounds. "I fearr that a wolf-bite might have given me a disease." [The liontaur missed a save or two.]
Questions and Answers. (DM Jim) Saturday January 22nd, 2005 9:14:30 PM
None of the dire wolves that remain are alive. Even the ones that had been trapped in the entangle spell somehow have gotten away.
Dire wolf(d7&d6) got out due to some unknown force that acted upon only a piece of the entangles area.
The fort checks were there for a purpose in that rabies is highly contagious, but I gave a low DC due to the influences of Domi on The Chosen.
Toros Sunday January 23rd, 2005 6:36:10 AM
OOC- Thank you Jim
Having moved around the battlefield Toros has noticed that the piece of land that has seemed to be suddenly separated from the entangled area. He speculates on that..:
"The area where the wolves that attacked Leets and Managram has come, seemed to be under some strange force that has ended the affect of the entangle spell on that piece of land... As this cannot be done by the wolves and the worg I think we have had some other guests around us together with the wolves...
It is really a disturbing feeling when I think that these dire things were acting together with some capable spellcasters. Perhaps these were also the ones who infected the wolves with that disease and caused them to attack us.
Can anyone understand what might have happened here, from the remainings of magic and trails ...
And perhaps if Paw'caw flies over the area we can learn some more about what has been happening tonight??
Does anyone have a suggestion?"
Leets Sunday January 23rd, 2005 1:06:57 PM
Leets falls on his back legs, and gets a dirty look at his wounds. The wolves have been biting him deeply, and he will soon have new scars...
"I have no idea about the one who influenced the flight, but he sure doesn't want us to arrive in this city..."
Solgrin Sunday January 23rd, 2005 3:07:03 PM
Solgrin looks around at the campsite then starts to agther up everyones gear so that the Chosen can break camp quickly. Solgrin separates everything into individual piles based upon where the items were found. He then checks his gear o see that everything is ready then pulls out his spellbook and finishes his studying.
Kanchana d8+3=4 d20+12=14 d20+15=20 Sunday January 23rd, 2005 3:27:33 PM
Kanchana goes to Zeoll and checks his wounds. She notes that he will need a little magical healing as well (Heals Zeoll 4HP). She uses her healing skills to check Zeoll's wounds for signs of infection (Heal 14).
"Zeoll, tell me immediately if you feel ill, dizzy or feverish - and especially if you see any signs of redness or puss where you were wounded."
Kanchana will get all of her gear together and be immediately ready to leave.
"There might be a problem with us travelling and not having many spells left, but we will have to take the risk I suppose."
Kanchana walks off to the direction that the wolves escaped to. She looks for tracks (Survival 20).
"I am going to follow these tracks for a little. If they head in the direction we need to go then I suggestion we hunt these abominations down and destroy them before they do more harm," Kanchana announces resolutely.
Kale(ac 20, hp 60/37), 2d8(2+5)+3=10 Monday January 24th, 2005 10:53:36 AM
annoyed that no one offered to heal him, Kale doesnt even ask anyone, he just pulls out a potion and drinks it down(heals back 10 pts). then, seeing Kachanga getting ready to leave, Kale starts to go with her, but changes his mind at the last second and sits down for a moment and watches her leave.
((Kanchana: OOC, Healing)) Monday January 24th, 2005 2:40:11 PM
((Oops, so sorry Sam. Kanchana wouldn't have missed Kale's very noticable wounds (37/60HP), since he crossed her line of sight during battle. I will certainly fix that next post!))
Brahmah Monday January 24th, 2005 5:56:16 PM
The minotaur gathers his gear and waits for the others to do the same. He watches the human carefully.
Flat-top Monday January 24th, 2005 6:46:36 PM
"Ah! thank you Kanchana, I fell somuch better!" he tell the female weimic. But he does notice Kale as he sit down.
Flat-top trots over to him, "Did you get hurt, Kale? Why did you not ask Kanchana for some healing? Are you strong enough to go after her? Maybe I should call her back!" Flat-top is consern for his friend.
Following the Path to Platueau. (DM Jim) Monday January 24th, 2005 9:20:07 PM
The others go about getting packed up and healed as Mikal leans on his sword. He looks to the Chosen as Brahmah regards him and give a weak smile. "Did I do something wrong?" He does take the time to pull out a potion and drink it down with a sigh.
Kanchana finds that the dire wolves have traveled off to the right of the direction that they are going. Though she does not follow the tracks too far as it would not be wise.
Mikal looks to the group as he gets the mules ready to go as well. "I have a few extra healing potions if anyone is interested?" He holds out his hand which holds four potions. "Do we leave now?"
Toros d20=17 Monday January 24th, 2005 9:32:57 PM
"Mikal, I would be happy, if I can get one of these potions, unless anyoneelse does need - just in case... Thank you."
Before packing up and leaving, Toros will also spend time to look around for anything that does not fit to the natural setting surrounding them. He is still suspicious and uncomfortable about the fact that some spellcasters may be or have been around to direct the dire wolves to attack Chosen. He wants to be prepared to the next counter as much as he can.

As Kanchana heals some of the Chosen, Gecktar heals the other.
He calls for the energy of Domi to heal Kale (healing 13hp), Leets who probably needs some healing too, and at last Zeoll (healing him 11 hp)
(OOC spontaneously cast cure moderate wounds)
Now everybody seems to be healed, (Gecktar takes a look around to see if he forget someone) he pack his gear and ready himself to leave.
"Now my friends, I just hope that we don't find to much troubles as I don't have any more spell ready for now. Just have to be confident in the ways Domi shows us"
Gecktar (continue...) Tuesday January 25th, 2005 3:07:01 AM
Just to say that Leets is healed of 17 hp and Zeoll only 10
(the last roll should not have been rolled)
Brahmah (fully healed) Tuesday January 25th, 2005 3:57:43 AM
Brahmah answers the human with a sigh. "Nothing wrong, lets move." Brahmah says little more to the boy.
The leader takes point as they move, he would like Kanchana to take up a position behind him.
"Mikal, stay with Toros and Gecktar." He says, not looking at the human.
Solgrin Tuesday January 25th, 2005 4:05:54 AM
Solgrin shoulders his pack and the rst of his gear thn heads off following Brahmah. Solgrin stays towards the middle of the group so that he can support everyone if needed.
Zeoll (AC16, HP 46 of 46) Tuesday January 25th, 2005 7:07:49 AM
Zeoll bundles up any wolf pelts he was able to salvage (see previous post). He thanks Kanchana and Gecktar for the healing.
Kanchana d20+12=25 d8+3=9 Tuesday January 25th, 2005 7:48:11 AM
Kanchana returns from following the tracks. She looks disgruntled, then she sees Kale and Flat-top talking and approaches Kale sheepishly.
"I am sorry Kale. I meant to heal your wounds but in my fervor to rid Mother Wold of those plagues I forgot my duty to you," Kanchana apologizes as sincerely as she can, "I hope you can forgive my horrible lapse."
She checks Kale to see how injured he still is (heal 25), then takes one of her wands and heals Kale a little more (Heals Kale 9HP).
Kanchana sizes up the marching order and notes that Brahmah is taking point.
"Brahmah, the tracks deviate from the path we need to take. I still say that we hunt the diseased wolves if the opportunity arrises. Will Kale be taking point with you, and I flank?"
Kale(59/60 hps) Tuesday January 25th, 2005 9:21:15 AM
"I always take point." Kale tells Kachanga and Brahmah, "But this time im going to stay a bit behind to make sure the wolves dont trail us."
Flat-top Tuesday January 25th, 2005 10:19:53 AM
"You going behind the party? Well I think that I'll keep you company, OK!" ask Flat-top. The centaur also ask the Captain, "Captain! I'll be back here with Kale if you don't need me up frount, OK!" Then Flat-top trots along with his long time friend.
Paw'caw(ceil) Tuesday January 25th, 2005 11:16:45 AM

Leets (HP 48) Tuesday January 25th, 2005 11:43:58 AM
Leets thanks Gecktar, considering the valuable help Domi sent to his Hosen by sending this holy servant to the group.
After checking if everybody is ok (Leets still can heal 1 HP if needed), the Centaur paladin will unpack his obsidian statuette, and will offer some prayers to Domi for this victory of the Chosen...

Now! he tells himself, I'll have something to eat when we come back this way. He Now follows his master.
Two days and nothing good. (DM Jim) Tuesday January 25th, 2005 11:43:53 PM
The group has been traveling for almost two days now to their destination of Plateau City. Mikal has been doing his best to make himself useful to the group but feels that he has done something wrong.
The scouting out to both sides of the road have revealed nothing of great interest. As it moves into the late night of the second day and it appears that they will stop, Mikal gets the mules ready for the night.
He takes to himself as he has been for the past day, seeking his own company near the wagon.
[Toros - CMW potion from Mikal]
[How far to each side has the group been searching the roadsides?]
Gecktar Wednesday January 26th, 2005 3:24:56 AM
Gecktar stays not far from Mikal, talking with him from time to time. His duty is to keep him alive and seeing his discomfort, he stays with him.
One time, when Brahmah is far enough to not ear he says : "You know Mikal, Brahmah is not very found of humankin. I think he had very bad experiences with them, and I must agree with him on one point. You can expect the worse from them. But I know that you can expect the better from other. He will certainly don't agree with this until some of them will conquer his confidence. But this will be hard work to do this. So don't worry about the dark mood of the company. I'm one of the younger in it and I don't have their experience. So I don't share their feelings about humankin."
"If you enjoy my company... then stay with me we will talk about everything, and build another world as we see fit." says Gecktar smiling gently to the human.
When time to stop comes, he will help to build the camp.
Leets Wednesday January 26th, 2005 4:53:46 AM
Now, the Chosen know that danger is lurking around on their path to Plateau City, so Leets will take care of the front side of the road, in the case something evil would suddenly block the way...
He has his shield and his club in hand, and will wisper prayers to Domi as he trots forward, aware of any strange noise of movement...
Flat-top Wednesday January 26th, 2005 5:09:02 AM
Flat-top makes sure that Kanchana has a soft bed of moss for the night, he tell her that He'll be on first watch tonight. He bids her good night.
As he coil his morningstar and put it around his neck, he trots over to Gecktar, Mikal and the mules. "Hello! I'm just checking on the mules, after all then saved my life a few days ago by warning me of the wolves. Besides I was wondering how the little lizard was doing? Is she alright? How are you doing? Do you mind if I take my watch around the mules? they seem to relaxe when a centaur is around then." Flat-top pats the mules.
managram(ceil) Wednesday January 26th, 2005 5:13:46 AM

Kanchana will take last watch. She will pray for her spells at sunrise.
As the Chosen travel to their destination Kanchana will flank one side of the group and travel as far out from side of the road as she can; that is until she barely has the others in sight. How dense and tall the foliage is will determine how many meters away from the road she can go. Of course Kanchana still looks for tracks and signs of the wolves as she travels.

Brahmah Wednesday January 26th, 2005 7:35:15 AM
The ranger continues forward, having heard everything Gecktar and the human's every word.
Fact is, Gecktar doesn't understand anything about what Brahmah went through while he was younger, none of the Chosen truly understand that. The tavern fight reminded Brahmah of human arrogance, concete, greed and stupidity. He would have killed those thugs, if given opportunity to do so. Then this human is dropped in his lap and told that he is to guide us to the Plat? Brahmah felt this was a bit odd and none to comfortable. Humans, as a community were untrustworthy.
In the evening, he lets Mikal sleep, not really trusting him on watch. The week wasn't going to be easy.
Why did the Chosen trust this boy so openly, so unconditionally?
The minotaur is quiet into the next morning.
Toros d20=15 Wednesday January 26th, 2005 8:45:37 AM
Toros will search the 30-60 feet distance on the left and right roadside, if it is plain ground and there is visible sight between him and the other Chosen. If someone accompanies him he can go further or enter places with poor visibility. (search 15)
Kale d20+7=26 d20+10=29 Wednesday January 26th, 2005 9:31:25 AM
as they travel, Kale will periodicly go 40-50 into the woods to search for signs.(spot of 27 and search of 29)
Solgrin Wednesday January 26th, 2005 2:34:38 PM
Solgrin travels along listening to what the others talk about. While traveling Solgrin will ask Mikal "how is the hatchling doing? Have you been carefully feeding it and giving it lots of attention?"
When the the Chosen stops for the night Solgrin will help setup the camp then will get a couple of hours sleep then begin preparing his spells for the dy.
Zeoll d20+10=11 Wednesday January 26th, 2005 6:52:37 PM
Zeoll spends the two days with a growing sense of uncertainty. He tries to spend time with this two-legger, getting a feel for him. [Sense Motive check fails on a nat 1.]
Zeoll does not get a sense of what is going on at all.
[OOC: How about those dire wolf pelts? Was Zeoll able to salvage any? How much might they be worth?]
Fifth Morning. (DM Jim) Wednesday January 26th, 2005 10:37:55 PM
Kanchana and Kale flank the group on both sides and both find evidence of the pack having come this direction as well. It would appear that the pack had turned after going out so far in the wrong direction to try and throw you off, they now are following the road but at some distance(300ft or so). Still you are not bothered as you decide to make camp or before that.
Mikal looks to Gecktar as he comes over to talk to him and smiles openly. "I suppose that I should have expected it...I mean I could very well be one of your enemies planted to get close." He sighs as he pets the young pseudodragon that lays in his lap. He pulls out some soft meat and slowly feeds some to the little dragonkin with motherly care. As Flat-top comes over and inquires about the little lizard he gently holds her up. "I have been taking real good care of her...though I have to admit that I was surprised to be given her." He lays the little lizard back in his lap and strokes her back and head just so. "I think the mules enjoy your presence as well."
The rest of the group go about thier own business as the camp is set. The surrounding area is looked over with great fevor to find any potential threats. It does not seem that the dire wolf pack has been in this immediate area and you cannot be sure they know where you are at.
Zeoll spends time with the human as well as with Gecktar who is hanging out near the human boy. You find out that the boy is actually nineteen years of age and his family lives in Plateau City. His father is a weaponsmith and mother a royal guard for the royal library. He was apprenticed to the three researchers that you go to see but was trained to use a sword and dagger by his mother for many years.
[Zeoll - You were able to salvage four large pieces of pelt. Appraise check for estimated value please.]
Brahmah d20+7=20 d20+8=17 Thursday January 27th, 2005 4:15:01 AM
Through the days up to this one, Brahmah watches Pah'caw in the sky, hoping she finds no sign of trouble ahead. Today, and for the past four days, she saw nothing of major interest. That made Brahmah happy.
Night falls on the fifth day and he finally speaks after a long bout of silence. "Tonight will be the night. If the wolves decide to attack they'll choose this night, because tomorrow, we'll be in the City. We must be mindful and alert all night. At least two taurs, err *looking at the human*, folks on watch at a time."
On his watch, likely the 3rd or 4th, Brahmah tries to stay focused on sounds of the night. (Listen 20 and Spot 17)
Two mornings ago, the ranger prepared two Charm Animal spells and has been doing the same every morning since.
Leets Thursday January 27th, 2005 4:33:33 AM
The Centaur paladin is glad to find back his friend Managarm.
As soon as it is made sure that no threat is around, Leets will spend some time with his celestial dog, throwing a stick of wood here and there as the dog runs after it...
Flat-top Thursday January 27th, 2005 6:56:37 AM
Flat-top tell Mikal, "I don't know much about these little dragons, But you see the the gold color, means that she is a breeding Queen. Two Gold Queens cannot stay in the same pack, so Solgum's dragon saw something special in you. That is why she chose you to be friend her gold Wyrm. In a few days we'll all part and go our own ways, I know that you'll find her very loveable."
Flat-top ask Brahmah, "Captain! which watch do you want me on?"
Kale Thursday January 27th, 2005 6:59:49 AM
"They will come." Kale tells Brahmah. on his watch, Kale will try to get into a tree near the sighns he saw earlier, then keep watch, hoping to see the wolves before they are on top of the group.

Kanchana d20+5=23 d20+5=24 d20+5=7 d20+5=15 Thursday January 27th, 2005 9:00:19 AM
Kanchana notes that the wolves were trying to out smart them. Therefore she will keep vigilant watch each night for the wolves when her turn to guard the others and the camp comes up. Kanchana would prefer to take either first or last watch so she can get enough sleep to be rested enough to pray to Mother Wold for divine assistence. She doesn't scold Ilder for taking the egg since Nature takes care of its own. She makes a mental note to some day teach Ilder to be more stealthy. The bird will just have to take better care of her other eggs, she thinks pragmatically. As a safety precaution Kanchana crafts a few traps in the perimeter around the camp. The traps are designed to be noisy and cause pain when they are sprung. They should give five minutes warning of an enemy approach. Kanchana tells all of the Chosen which areas to avoid. (Craft trap 23, 24, 7, 15)
Kanchana clearly believes that the wolves will be back tonight. She intends to not get caught sleeping this time.
Toros d20=18 d20=18 d20=9 d20=16 d20=8 Thursday January 27th, 2005 10:56:22 AM
He will be on alert all the time (spot, listen 18+4 = 22, 18+3 = 21) but he is also getting tired and needs some rest too.
In proper times Toros will have time to talk with everyone in the group and try to spend time with the animal companions as well. (d20, 9)
For some time he will also enter the wagon and see what is in there. He is thinking to organize the interior place as a good defending place, especially for using ranged weapons. Can it be, by any chance, something that can be useful for defending the campsite? (d20 = 16 search)
(the last roll is by mistake, not necessary)
Gecktar d20+3=10 d20+3=19 Thursday January 27th, 2005 3:59:12 PM
Gecktar stays alert as he takes his watch turn. (Spot 10 Listen 19)
Solgrin d20+2=21 d20+2=13 Thursday January 27th, 2005 8:11:38 PM
Solgrin rests during the first couple of hours then is up te rest of the time preparing spells and taking his watch.
A Good Morning. (DM Jim) Thursday January 27th, 2005 9:57:20 PM
Toros checks out the wagon though it is not much use for much but carrying. He does find out that the dried pork is starting to go bad. The cheese and bread is moldy on the outside as well, but the fruit and nut mix is just fine.
This night everyone is on edge and though the group gets their sleep, it is not the most restful. There are no incidents though and the group wakes to a nice morning with the day starting to get warm.
Mikal looks to Brahmah and then indicates the firepit that he has made. "A warm breakfast this morning or a cold one?" He seems maybe a little miffed that he was left out of the watch but is trying to be understanding and make himself useful to the group. He already has the wagon ready to pull out as soon as everyone is ready to leave.
[The wagon is large enough to hold about two taurs comfortably, but the sides are only about a foot high. This would make it ok for some defense, but not against missile fire.]
Zeoll d20+1=3 Thursday January 27th, 2005 10:11:36 PM
[D'oh! Just missed posting!]
Zeoll senses the undercurrent of stress, and wonders about its source.
"Why do we think the wolves arre going to rreturrn? Has anyone seen trracks? Hearrd howls in the night? What is going on?"
Zeoll wonders if they need some information. "Wolves can't fly. Could we send an animal companion to scout arround?"
[OOC: Jim, what kind of terrain are we in? Is it forest, or farmland, or what, between South Harbor and Plateau City? We are headed to Plateau City, right?]
Meanwhile, Zeoll looks over his wolf pelts (untrained Appraise check is 3), but he has no clue. "Does anyone know how much these fourr pelts might be worrth?" (anyone else want to try Appraise?)
Kanchana d20+3=20 Thursday January 27th, 2005 10:30:15 PM
Kanchana takes a look at the pelts (Appraise 20). She has a good idea of their worth, but needs to mull over the numbers before telling Zeoll. "I saw the tracks double backing and such Zeoll. The wolves where trying to confuse us I think. I wasn't taking any chances last night."
With some sorrow and a bare hint of revulsion she strokes her hand through the last pelt.
"Give me a moment and I can give you an estimate of the pelts' values."
(Appraise 20)
Brahmah Friday January 28th, 2005 3:14:41 AM
Brahmah askes the Chosen to eat a cold breakfast so that they can move out soon.
"Zeoll, I'll ask Pah'caw to scout ahead." He askes his eagle to scout. (Ceil?)
Gecktar Friday January 28th, 2005 4:06:39 AM
Seeing that the food is begining rot, Gecktar cast a purify food and drink on the maet the bread and the cheese so they could take a cold breakfast without harm.
He then gather his gear and prepare to leave as soon as possible.
Flat-top Friday January 28th, 2005 5:39:10 AM
Flat-top goes to the wagon and gets his breackfast of fruits, nuts and bread, trots over to Mikal, "Good Morning Mikal! How's you little one today? You don't look happy! Why? We wanted you to be fully rested after all we did have a bad fight the other night! And you do care for the mules. So we thought we let you rest! Here have an apple!"
Paw'Caw(ceil) d20+10=15 Friday January 28th, 2005 5:46:21 AM
Paw'Caw wakes at the brake of dawn,Flie down to her master, Brahmah feed her, then ask her to scout the path ahead of them.
She finishes her food, them takes to the skies, triyng to spot anything harmful to her master.
OOC: Spot 15
Managram(ceil) Friday January 28th, 2005 5:58:30 AM
Managran is happy with a bone for breackfast, any kind of bone. His favoret meal.
Managram growls at Elder as runs by.
Roz(ceil) Friday January 28th, 2005 6:06:24 AM
For a rare moment Roz emerge from Solgum's shoulder, yarn "HO Hum" she look at him as if to say "Well! what's for breackfast?"
Elder(ceil) Friday January 28th, 2005 6:10:55 AM
Elder thinks he's a great provider, he has his cheeks full of nuts and berries. Althe while he is rolling an apple to Kanchana for her to eat. Put's the fruit in frount of her, then jumps into the pouck to eat his meal.
Croc(ceil) Friday January 28th, 2005 6:14:43 AM
walks around chewing what left of a rabbit, thinking to himself 'not soft enough!' But follows Zeoll anyway, maybe he has something better?.
Kale Friday January 28th, 2005 7:09:10 AM
climbing down from his tree, Kale takes a piece of the pork Gecktar purifiedand begins to chew on it. he nods to Gecktar in appreation and says "You want to watch the back with me today?"
Toros Friday January 28th, 2005 10:22:06 AM
When Toros smells the food that has already started to spoil inside the wagon, he thinks that it can be good to use this smell to keep the wolves away. However he enjoys the taste of the food purified by Gecktar as his breakfast, although he feels a bit sorry that the Chosen may have lost a good defensive weapon.
After the breakfast, having spotted some space in the wagon, he will leave some of his unnecessary gear in it, leaving them to be carried by the mules, but not by his lazy self.
Then he will accompany Mikhal, trying to cheer him and himself up.
Leets Friday January 28th, 2005 12:52:46 PM
Leets checks his wounds in the fresh air of the morning. He will clean them with purified water (that he will create if nedded), and pieces of clean cloth.
Later, after wearing his while gear, he will take part to the breakfast.
Seeing that some of the food the Chosen brought with them is going badly, he will say:
"Maybe we could hunt for a while, I'm sure Managarm would like it, and those woods seem to be full of game..."
"Anybody?"
Flat-top Friday January 28th, 2005 2:37:21 PM
"Sure I'll go!" Flat-top wants a change of scenery anyway. he trots of with Leets.
Solgrin Friday January 28th, 2005 2:38:02 PM
Solgrin pulls out a small piece of meat that he keeps for Rozca incase she has not gone hunting for food, and gives it to her. Solgrin then says quietly to Rozca "if you want you can go hunting for a short bit just don't go to far from us and come back quickly if you get into any trouble."
The Last Leg. (DM Jim) Friday January 28th, 2005 7:47:36 PM
This fine morning finds the group ready to move out after a few things are done, that is. Zeoll calls upon some help on getting the pelts appraised and Kanchana is quick to help out. Everyone goes about getting breakfast rounded up and eaten as they talk.
Mikal eats as well but not before he feeds the little queen to be some soft meat. He is content to sit and humm to her for some time, as he leans against the wagon's wheel.
Soon the group is ready to move out along the road. The going is easy as the road is well kept up and the group makes good time. At one time Leets, Managarm and Flat-top slip off when the stop for a rest to do some hunting. They come back with a buck and six rabbits for their efforts.
[The terrain is fairly open with trees, shrubs and rocks dotting it. Some of the rocks are actually boulders that are some eight feet high. The trees are still full of leaves and just starting to turn in color. Plateau City is your destination.]
[Kanchana is able to appraise the pelts at about 125gold per pelt. The disease that the wolves are infected with does not seem to have effected the hide.]
[Marching order please as you travel along the road.]
"Those pelts smell Kanchana. I hope we can sell them soon, in the city."
Kanchana d20+3=22 d20+5=12 d20+12=31 d20+12=26 d20+15=29 Saturday January 29th, 2005 4:56:09 PM
Kanchana chuckles. "Talk to Zeoll Brahmah. They are his wolf pelts."
Kanchana grins as she turns to Zeoll. "You can get around 125 gold for each pelt."
Kanchana looks around at the thinning forest and frowns slightly. She reminds herself that she needs to find a circle of Druids. She needs to find out more about the Greenmages; especially if they actually even exist!
The Warden returns her focus to the here and now. "I suppose the wolves will wait and regain their strength and numbers before trying to ambush us again."
If given any time Kanchana will use any rest stops to gather herbs and berries and such. She will also take notes and make drawings in her Herbal (herb book).
Solgrin d20+2=8 d20+2=22 Saturday January 29th, 2005 4:56:31 PM
As the Chosen start to move out Solgrin tells Brahmah "I will be in the middle near the wagon" then will take upthat position in the marching order.
********* Spot 8 Listen 22 *********
Kanchana (marching order) Saturday January 29th, 2005 4:59:04 PM
Kanchana will continue to flank one of the sides. She will simply refuse to remain on the road proper as long as the Chosen are in the forest. This is her chance to learn and study before being confined in a useless city again.
Kanchana will tell Solgrin; whom she thinks might be vulnerable to attack, to stay in the middle near the wagon.
Toros Sunday January 30th, 2005 12:27:02 AM
If the mules would not mind Toros will have some time to sit on the wagon and study a spell that he would like to use for the next encounter for the first time - Deathwatch.
He had felt the need to know the health condition of living creatures, while he was trying to save the little Ilder from the hard-dying dire wolfs. He did not mind much that he did not receive any appreciation for being the person who helped Ilder. But, next time he wants to better track the battleground so that he can provide faster help to the most needed place.
OOC: Dear DM, for the deathwatch spell, how specifically can the caster understand the remaining HPs: During the fight we can see the HPs of Chosen from the post but with this spell could it be possible to understand the HPs of NPCs like Mikhal or those of the opponents like dire wolfs?
Gecktar Sunday January 30th, 2005 1:19:46 PM
Gecktar smiles to Kale, when he offers to do some way with him. "Well, I would have appreciated, but our captain has more experience for tactics than I. So I prefer to listen to him. Next time maybe I would be happy to have some chatting with you."
Leets d20+3=9 d20+3=15 Sunday January 30th, 2005 2:16:25 PM
Leets follows the captain's orders, and closes the marching order. With Managarm by his side, weapons in hands, he stands ready for any tracherous threat (or at least he tries: listen 9, spot 15).
At some point of the walk, Leets gets a dirty look at the pelts, and he gives a friendly hug to his celestial dog, with a sad look.
Zeoll Sunday January 30th, 2005 2:31:57 PM
Zeoll listens to Kanchana tell the group that she has reason to think that the wolves will return.
That being the case, Zeoll changes the spells he prepared that day.
Druid spells prepared: Cure Minor Wounds x4, Hide from Animals, Longstrider, Obscuring Mist, Fog Cloud, Barkskin
He offers the opinion that in a fight, at least some of the party should be hidden from animals (via spell) so that they can use wands of healing on the others. In a pinch, the whole group could hide that way if others have the spell. Fog and mist could cover a retreat. Also, you can summon animals to fight for you and still remain hidden, which is another good way to fight or retreat.
Zeoll knows Kanchana has a wand of healing. Does anyone else, who would rather fight? Zeoll can use a wand if there is one extra.
As for the hides, Zeoll strongly disagrees, laughing. "I did a good job with these pelts! They don't smell! Much!"
Marching Order -- Zeoll (with Croc) stays in the middle of the group. He tries to keep an eye out for big rocks -- in a fight, fighting on top of a rock might be a bonus. From time to time he climbs one to get a good view. (taking 10 on climb check.)
Flat-top Monday January 31st, 2005 3:59:34 AM
Flat-top trots along where Brahmah told him to be, singing "Dum de Dum Dum."
Kale Monday January 31st, 2005 6:41:00 AM
Kale nods in Gecktars direction and then begins to lead the others out
