DM Bob & Carla Sunday June 5th, 2005 5:57:10 PM
Ashalan consoles Villimus as he laments the loss of life, while Bralin points out that the half-elf captain had her chance to surrender and chose not to take it.
Harvest Moon watches closely as Lorth interrogates the reeve. The attractive woman nervously twists the ring about her finger. It resembles those worn by the Flett family and the captain, in that it is wrought from heavy gold and is of exceptionally fine workmanship. Pointing a finger at the lieutenant, the half-elf's lower lip trembles, "he struck me!" she says, her eyes brimming with unshed tears, "I was only coming down from the great hall to see what all the commotion was. I heard voices. When I followed the source of the sound, he was in the vaults trying to steal the artifact! When I tried to stop him, he struck me down!" The curvy female brings a hand to the side of her face, hiding the purple-blue bruise that is starting to form. Harvest draws a blank and is unable to get a fix on the reeve's temperament.
Arminus' ears prick up at the sound of "artifact", and he questions the lieutenant. Without taking his eyes off the reeve, Kelesh Orrin responds bitterly, "I did not ever see what was in the chest. It was entrusted to us by the Pitchfork Counsel with the admonition not to open it, for it contained a powerful stone from the Tower of Cnut. We were told the Sons of Dread might try to take it, perhaps to power a new soul forge." His weapon held tightly, the rough man looks at the various members of the Swords of Light before he takes a step closer towards Lorth and the reeve the paladin is protecting. "When we were attacked, I knew it must be the Dread come for the artifact. The captain and I hurried to the vault with my best men to guard the thing. As we waited in the shadows, she arrived, leading agents of the Dread! We would have overthrown them, but for the captain's betrayal! A dread mage survived and escaped with the chest. "The lieutenants face darkens with emotion, "the Pitchfork Council must be informed of the loss of the artifact. Leave this one to me!"

Harvest (AC22 HP 21/28) d20+9=20 d20+9=20 Sunday June 5th, 2005 9:06:03 PM
Harvest Moon dispels the Disguise and becomes, again, a short girl with a brown crest of hair hanging over her forehead.
"Lieutenant Orrin," Harvest Moon interjects, "please explain to us exactly what you mean by 'Leave this one to me,'" she asks. "And please also explain why, if you observed a Dread Mage escaping with the chest, why you have not yet pointed out the direction to us in which he escaped?"
"Recovery of the chest would appear to me to be of paramount importance. Far greater than restraining the Reeve which may be accomplished with a simple length of rope."
"Madam Reeve," Harvest turns to the bejeweled woman, "Please tell me where you received that gold ring. And explain to me how it is that the Captain comes to wear one that is identical to it. Also please describe how Captain Greenblade came to be down here. These two fallen guards as well. Also, explain how it was that you, an unarmed woman, intended to stop the armed Lieutenant from making off with the chest."

Merryn Sunday June 5th, 2005 11:25:31 PM
Merryn is confused by the allegations thrown from each party. Who is to be believed? The talk of the artifact interests Merryn as well, who steps closer to better hear the discussion.
Lorth Monday June 6th, 2005 8:21:08 AM
Lorth listens while Harvest speaks, he keeps himself standing between the Reeve and Orrin. Then he adds, "Could you remove that ring from your finger please, m'lady. And can someone fetch the ring from Greenblade's body?"
Ashalan d20-1=18 Monday June 6th, 2005 9:49:56 AM
The others having the matter well in hand, Ashalan searches for a way to make himself useful.
Deciding to search the body of the fallen blackguard, Ash kneels down, stifling his desire to retch, for the aura of evil still hangs heavy on this minion of the Dread. Carefully combing every inch of the corpse looking for items of import, or if clues to the Dread's plan can be found. (Search 18, Take 10 if needed)
Arminas Monday June 6th, 2005 10:42:29 AM
Arminas looks at the interplay between Lorth, the Reeve and Orrin, and decides that politics are not his strong suit.
He walks over to where Greenblade lays on the ground, and he spits on her body.
To nobody in particular he says:
"She is a traitor, and deserved no mercy. Bad enough to turn on your employer, and to seek gain by theft. She turned on the elven race, and helped the Dread. The Dread seek to destroy all that is good and natural. All that is important."
With a tear in his eye he turns away, standing in silence.
Villemus (AC 18 , HP 21/26, Mage Armor) d20+10=17 d20+6=22 Monday June 6th, 2005 12:28:42 PM
As long as there aren't wanton slaughter, Villemus ignored the entire exchange. Laws should be followed but proving the guilt of anyone isn't his problem.
"Let's leave her guilt for later consideration, we should go after the thieves now. They can't be far.", the drow ranger-necromancer bend down and searched the place for tracks and clues.

Bralin Monday June 6th, 2005 8:48:48 PM
Combat is over, negotiations have begun.
Bralin can't stand negotiations.

DM Bob & Carla Monday June 6th, 2005 9:47:53 PM
A thumping and a thudding on the stairs signify the party will not be alone for long. Some questions are asked, but before they are answered, a dozen soldiers in the uniform of the guards of Strongwind Castle make their appearance.
At Lorth's request milady recoils, emitting a little cry, but with the appearance of the guard, her strength fails her and she does not attempt resistance. Removing the ring, she hands it to Lorth. As if an opaque curtain had been drawn back, the monk sees the reeve for the self-serving liar that she is. Envious of others and jealous of authorities her soul has been sold to the highest bidder. Lorth detects a dark shadow cast irrevocably over her fair form.
"Collect her ring and remove the baubles on her person!" commands lieutenant Orrin. "Make sure she is bound and gagged so that she can not employ her magics!"
Shaking his head as the false blackguard becomes a small girl garbed in brown robes, the lieutenant volunteers humbly, "I am but a plain soldier, raised from the ranks to become second in command of this garrison." The man's eyes slide over to the remains of the once handsome captain, now a gory corpse, before he continues "familiar with all standard weapons and armors, but not with the conjury encountered this night!" Locking eyes with Harvest, he continues, "As I fought the enemy soldiers the black mage snatched the chest. I made for him, but was blocked by the captain. From the corner of my eye I could see the sorcerer conjure a circle on the ground with some amber dust, then he, two dread soldiers, and the chest were gone." Shaking his head, he repeats, "The Pitchfork Council must be informed. They will know best what to do.
Arminus laments an innocence lost, while Merryn is mute witness to the proceedings. Villemus confirms that there are no tracks leading away from the vaults.
Ashalan gags, but is able to retrieve a thick gold ring of fine craftsmanship, a wicked looking dagger its blade lacquered with a green tinged substance, an equally wicked looking long sword, and a medium sized steel shield. After fumbling a bit he is able to remove Greenblade's breastplate. Although damaged by Bralin's axe work, it appears salvageable.
A thin ensign speaks out, "Lieutenant, sir, the attackers have been repelled. The company surgeon and clerics are looking after the wounded. Some of the townspeople wish to return to their homes. We can spare only a small party of soldiers to escort them. What is your command?"

"If no one is in need of healing I will put this away and retrieve my instrument and gear, I will rejoin you as quickly as possible, I see there is still work to do for those who are willing to oppose evil in this world. Aside from that, I still owe you a debt of life for your rescue of me in the foyer above."
Any will quickly go upstairs and get his pack, lute, and staff. He finally sheaths his weapons as he does this.
OOC sorry for the late post, I was detained in town earlier.
Harvest (AC18 HP 21/28) d20+3=19 Monday June 6th, 2005 11:43:34 PM
Harvest Moon nods at the description of the Dread mage's escape via some form of magical translocation. (Spellcraft 19)
"Many men of Stormwind Castle have fallen in the courtyard above, Lieutenant Orrin."
Harvest watches, as the Reeve is lead away. The Contested Kingdoms have many such as her. And yet, to have been so close, to peer so intimately into such a soul. The brown girl frowns deeply, and turns away, bitter words on her tongue.
Suddenly, Harvest wants very much to be gone from here. Away from the death and treachery. Moving on again. Out on the clean and open road. That alone would provide a healing balm to the wounds of both body and soul.
"We must return to Magpie Crossing as well. We could accompany the townspeople, Lieutenant Orrin. I think that you will need your men here for some time."
"Lorth Jeradosta," she asks quietly as she heads for the stairs, "what is the 'Pitchfork Council?'"

Lorth Tuesday June 7th, 2005 8:15:22 AM
Lorth is saddened that he was correct and the ring hid the reeve's true nature, he had hoped it was some sort of curse she was under. He says nothing as she is lead away. "We should keep an eye out for any that wear such rings, in magpie crossing." To Harvest he says, "The Pitchfork council oversees the government in cinnamon valley. It has representatives of the various peoples that live in the area on it. Other than that I don't know much else."
Merryn Tuesday June 7th, 2005 8:54:28 AM
Merryn nods in agreement to Harvest's proposal: "Aye it would be good to be on the road again and away from all this bloodshed. I would certainly help escort the townspeople back to the Crossing."
Harvest (2nd Illegal Post) Tuesday June 7th, 2005 9:10:10 AM
Harvest glances about at the guards, all engaged in the sad and laborious task of cleaning up after the battle.
"Might we not help as well," she asks the Paladin, "in taking this news to the Pitchfork Council?"
Arminas Tuesday June 7th, 2005 9:39:58 AM
Arminas comes out of his depression when talk of leaving Stormwind Castle is heard. He still has a look of sadness upon his face, but a look of determination is also there.
"I am ready to go. While my whole being wishes to go back to the Culverwood and forget the treachery I have seen this day, I cannot. We must stop the Dread from spreading thier poison. Now I see that they not only poison the land, but souls as well. They must be stopped."
Ashalan Tuesday June 7th, 2005 10:47:57 AM
Listening to the others, Ash removes his bedroll from his backpack and wraps the Blackguard's wicked looking weapons and ties the bundle together with a sash removed from his arm. Packing everything away, Ash stands and addreses the group.
"Warning the Council seems like a wise course of action, and they may have some idea as to what we can do that would be of most help against the Dread."
"Beyond that, I for one could go for one of Hildy's meat pies, being healed that much always makes me hungry. All in all it sounds like we still have much to do, should we not be on our way?
Bralin Tuesday June 7th, 2005 9:04:36 PM
Pull caravan duty for the townsfolk, or carry urgent news to the leaders?
Bralin's mind leaps to the obvious choice.
"Aye, we must take the message to the Council, ere other calamaties fall," he states.
Villemus (AC 18 , HP 21/26, Mage Armor) Tuesday June 7th, 2005 9:24:17 PM
"I am ready.", the half-drow spoke simply.
DM Bob & Carla Tuesday June 7th, 2005 11:15:14 PM
The half-elf newcomer dashes out of the room and up the stairs two at a time. When the rest of the party emerges from the castle and into the courtyard, he is standing there ready and waiting, his pack on his back, holding the reigns of a fine horse loosely in one hand.
With one last piteous glance over her shoulder, the former reeve of Magpie Crossing is lead away by the guards. Kalesh Orrin follows the Swords of Light into the yard. The sun is just starting to push back the blanket of stars overhead. In the grayness of pre-dawn, there is much activity as the soldiers of the garrison set the place to rights, and village folks and local farmers prepare to return to their homes. A caravan of wagons and carts queues up in front of the gate. There are no signs of enemy bodies, however a brisk business is going on at the infirmerary, testament to the night's events.
Caerthon runs across the yard towards the party, and salutes the lieutenant, before reaching his arm out and grasping the man's shoulder. "Well met, Kelesh. Though I hear the artifact is gone, the Sons of Dread have been sorely set back in their plans." Gesturing beyond the gates, he continues, "their army has been decimated, and those who were part of the conspiracy have been found out. There will be no foothold for agents of the Dread in the Cinnamon Valley!"
Turning to the Swords of Light the paladin speaks, "if I could ask one more task of you?" He looks hopefully from face to face before continuing. "See these good people home. Rest and tend to your wounds. At tomorrow's sunrise I will call for you at the inn and ask that you accompany me to Jarlwolf. This..." the paladin pauses, "this activity on the part of those from the kingdom to the north must be reported to the Pitchfork Council . I would ask that you make a report of what you know of the Crimson Fort in person."
Andrath Tuesday June 7th, 2005 11:31:50 PM
[OOC: I can't remember, did we remove the valuables from the real blackguard? If not...] As they are getting ready to head upstairs, Andrath quickly strips the blackguard's body of its valuables. "These will help us later, I am sure."
Upstairs, he listens to the request from the old paladin. "We can escort these people home, although I don't think that we want to split up, unless absolutely necessary. We can certainly escort them from the castle back to the town, and then to their houses, if that would help."
Harvest (AC18 HP 21/28) Wednesday June 8th, 2005 12:21:29 AM
Harvest replies to Paladin Caerthon with a smile. "I have never been to Jarlwolf," is all that she says.
The road outside Stormwind Castle. How long ago it seemed, when they had marched off in the direction of the Crimson Fort. Harvest hikes the straps of her haversack higher up on her shoulders. The oversized sleeves of her robe slide down her arms.
They would return to the Shadfly Inn. Where this had all begun for her. Where young Kiel now had her room. The oddest feeling comes over Harvest Moon, a feeling like passing through one's self and beyond, on the way to other things.
The feeling brings a smile to Harvest's face. And as she walks along side the miniature caravan of residents bound for their homes in Magpie Crossing, Harvest Moon begins to whistle a tuneless tune. Whistling as she walks, up the road on the way to other things.
Any (Sub-Kelly) Wednesday June 8th, 2005 10:01:04 AM
Any swings into the saddle of his horse and moves along with the group. The going seems slow, since everyone else is walking. The whistle from the small girl has caught is attention.
"Harvest is it? May I call you that? You musical ability, that is sure. Mind if I play along?"
Any then starts to strum the lute as he rides.
Arminas Wednesday June 8th, 2005 10:03:48 AM
Once outside, Arminas gives a whistle and starts to scan the horizon. After what seems like an eternity, an eagle drops from high above to land on the shoulder of the small elf.
Arminas seems to once again to have found joy in this world. There is a smile in his eyes that has been missing.
With new purpose in his step, Arminas moves along down the road.
Lorth Wednesday June 8th, 2005 10:04:30 AM
"Of course, Caerthon.", Lorth replies. He salutes the man then turns to leave with the rest of his friends.
Ashalan Wednesday June 8th, 2005 10:23:20 AM
Satisfied with following the lead of the others, Ashalan lets a small smile creep onto his face. Feeling a sense of camaraderie with his fellows that can only be brought about by tribulations and accomplishment.
Catching up with Arminas, Ash ducks and covers his head as the eagle drops from the sky.
"Whoa, I forgot about your friend Arminas. For a moment there I thought he mistook me for a mouse!"
Enjoying the dawn, the music of Any, and the feeling of stretching his legs on the road before him, Ash chats with Arminas of the Culverwood of the ranger's youth. Content to while the time of the journey getting to know his companions better.
Villemus (AC 18 , HP 21/26, Mage Armor) Wednesday June 8th, 2005 12:16:04 PM
After spending an eternity coaxing his familiar to wakefulness, Villemus shrugged and ambled along with the rest of the party to wherever that is.
OoC erm... I am confused. Are we going back to the town or are all of u assuming it is the next day already?
Merryn d20+6=13 Wednesday June 8th, 2005 7:09:55 PM
Merryn falls into marching order as the group accompanies the townsfolk back to Magpie Crossing. Vigilant, he keeps an eye out for anything untoward (Spot: 13).
Bralin Wednesday June 8th, 2005 7:47:42 PM
"Hold," Bralin commands. "Tis the dawn. I must commune with The Chamber."
The dwarf pulls out a black fist sized sphere of obsidian and stares at it for a full hour. He makes no sound. He doesn't move. He barely even breathes.
At the end of the hour, Bralin rises, places the orb back into its pouch, and joins the group as if nothing occured.
DM Bob & Carla Wednesday June 8th, 2005 10:55:58 PM
The sun peeps over the edge of the Wold, as the good folks of the area direct their wagons and carts out through the gate of Strongwind Castle. Andrath has time to strip the dread mage of a wicked looking rapier, a cloak, 4 vials containing potions of some sort, and two scrolls. Bralin is almost left behind as he stares raptly into his dark stone, however the Swords of Light wait for the dwarf and form up at the rear of the small caravan.
Fires here and there on the plains surrounding the fort send up smudges of grey smoke. There is a sickly sweet smell coming from the fires, and those who tend them wear scarves tied across the lower part of their faces. The ground is churned, broken, and burned. As the light of day grows stronger it can be seen that nature is reclaiming the battlefield, revolting against the violence, tender green shoots unfurl. It is as if Nature is alight, abounding and rejoicing with an uncontained energy. Some slumbering power has awakened, perhaps disturbed by the strife of men, and elves, and dwarven kind?
As the caravan approaches the village, farmers veer down side roads choked with growth. Thorny brambles laden with juicy berries and ropey vines of morning glories make passage difficult. A flock of woolly sheep block the road for a while, and refuse to move. Then, just as suddenly, they move off the road and into a nearby field, where they munch grass and watch the procession.
Folks disperse for their homes, and Hildy can be seen wrestling a large pumpkin through the kitchen door at the back of the Shadfly Inn. She calls a greeting to the party, and then disappears inside, having finally managed to manoeuvre the enormous gourd through the door. Lincoln waves to the party from the front door. "Come have some breakfast. Kiel's been makin' hiself useful, an' your stuff is all piled neat and tidy in the back room, an' some folks have been here leavin' messages fer some of ye!"
Harvest (AC18 HP 21/28) Wednesday June 8th, 2005 11:49:55 PM
Harvest Moon looks up at the horse-mounted man. Her eyes are wide and her mouth open, her face frozen into a startled mask.
"Y ... yes," she stammers out a reply. The short journey continues, but for Harvest it proceeds in silence. She finds that it is nearly impossible to whistle when one is overly conscious of being watched.
++++++++++++
The smells of the Shadfly Inn come to Harvest Moon's nose, steeped in a feeling that whispers Home. And yet everything here now seems smaller in a way that it did not before. Approaching the pile in the backroom, of items that they had captured from the Crimson Fort, Harvest places the unused wand of Enlarge Person on the pile. The Ioun Stone she plucks from it's place, spinning about her head, and lays that down as well. Bralin Stoneminder would help barter these things for them. Perhaps the things taken from the Blackguard as well.
Then Harvest Moon rummages into her haversack and removes a leather pouch. From it she extracts five gold coins. With the coins clutched in one small fist she lets the cuffs of her oversized robe fall over her hands.
"Hello, Kiel," she greets the boy with a quiet smile, and then asks, "have you given thought to what you would spend five gold coins upon?"
Lorth Thursday June 9th, 2005 7:55:02 AM
Lorth sits at a table and prepares to eat some good homecooked food. He is tired and it is good to be able just to sit down for a while.
Arminas Thursday June 9th, 2005 2:39:18 PM
Arminas takes care of his bow, unstringing it and oiling the wood. He counts his arrows, and realizes that he still needs to replace some. Before rest comes prepardness, he walks to the weapons shop and buys 20 arrows.
He then finds a place in the shade of a tree, and collapes after the long night. Rest finally comes. Ewan, the eagle perched above as if on guard.
Merryn Thursday June 9th, 2005 2:54:01 PM
Having arrived at the Shadfly Inn Merryn feels relieved and safe once again. The smell of breakfast makes his stomach rumble, but he cannot help his expression of worry and doubt. Though I have helped these people, how much closer am I to my goal? I have not found any evidence of those whom I seek in my journeys. I must seek them out and exact my revenge. No, perhaps revenge would be too much. Revenge would mean killing the criminals' families. I cannot do that. I will be satisfied with their heads alone. Merryn gazes off at the path from which they have come, shifting anxiously from foot to foot. Soon ... soon.
Ashalan Thursday June 9th, 2005 3:55:04 PM
Mingling through the group, enjoying their company, the appearance of the town catches him by suprise. He recovers quickly at the sight of the Shadfly Inn, and the warm food waiting for him inside.
Greeting Hildy with a warm hello, Ash takes a seat next to Lorth to wait as patiently as he can for the food he can already smell from the kitchen.
A loud growl eminates from the direction of his stomach. With a sheepish grin Ash utters a barely audible "Excuse me..."
Any Thursday June 9th, 2005 6:59:46 PM
Any cares for the stabling of his horse and gear, then goes to the Inn. He approaches the Innkeeper and asks if he can play for his supper and a room. If the answer is yes he will find a quiet corner to play and amuse those around. If no, then he will ask for a room and supper and pay for the privelege.
Bralin Thursday June 9th, 2005 9:02:31 PM
The dour dwarf warily eyes the exploding foliage, and he frequently glances over at how the elves are reacting to it. Clearly, powerful magic is at work here.
At Shadfly Inn, Bralin gathers up all the magics that had previously been portioned and disappears into the Catacombs. He returns in short order, and hands Arminas, Andrath, Merryn, and Harvest their agreed upon shares. [Sold all goods we agreed upon earlier]
When complete, all that remains is the locked and magically trapped chest, the black spell book, and everything gathered from the battle at the castle:
a gold ring of fine craftsmanship, a wicked looking dagger its blade lacquered with a green tinged substance, an equally wicked looking long sword, and a medium sized steel shield.
After fumbling a bit he is able to remove Greenblade's breastplate.
Andrath has time to strip the dread mage of a wicked looking rapier, a cloak, 4 vials containing potions of some sort, and two scrolls
At that point, Bralin is ready for some food, and does his best to empty the pantry.
Villemus Thursday June 9th, 2005 10:13:38 PM
Exhausted and blood splattered, the half drow necromancer stumbled into the inn and collapsed into the nearest chair. "What's for breakfast?", Villemus queried before returning to his dramatic moaning.
And then after pausing awhile, he decided to cast a cantrip when the dwarf spread out the loot. His eyes enchanted to see magic, Villemus glanced at the items.

Arminas - additional post Thursday June 9th, 2005 10:22:59 PM
OOC: My first post was from an internet kiosk that you feed dollars into, and I had limited time. Didn't really have time to read the DM post properly.
As Arminas travels back towards the Shadfly Inn, he marvels at how the plants are growing. A wide grin appears on his face, as if the treason of Greenblade never happened.
"There are stories from the elders, of the days of the birth of the Wold. Plants grew and flourished, before the eyes of those who were not yet men, elves, dwarfs or any of the races of men. Yet it was not looked upon with wonder, as it was natural, it was right. Only when the the people of the Wold multiplied and divided, seeking to take from the Wold and not give in return did Nature shrink back. I did not think I would see the return of Nature to its fullness. It is a good sign."
Looking around, Arminas sees that the others do not seem interested in his speech. Especially Bralin.
"Master Bralin, forgive my words and emotions. I promise you that this will benefit all."
DM Bob & Carla Friday June 10th, 2005 12:11:24 AM
Inside the Inn the halfling hosts have set up a smorgasbord of breakfast delights. "'Tis self serve this morning. As you can see, we're pretty busy." Indeed the room is full to capacity. Every chair is taken and the benches along the walls of the room are full of guests balancing plates on their knees. Spot DC 12 to Highlight to display spoiler: { notice that everyone, other than the hosts and the Swords of Light are of elven blood.} "They started arriving last night, and have been comin' inta town all mornin' . All come up from the Culverwood along the Fairy Trail. If it hadn't been for the sudden burst of growth in the gardens, we wouldn't be able to feed them all! Chickens have gone crazy too! Eggs bigger 'an usual, and all with double yolks!" Before bustling off, Lincoln points to a door in a back corner of the room, "the back room is set up for ye."
The small room is bare except for one wall with a shelf holding a modest collection of books, and a small dresser under a single window. An old door set upon two wooden crates and covered with a red and white checked cloth stands in for a table. A collection of empty casks and wooden crates are set about the makeshift table. The party's gear, including anything left in their rooms has been piled neatly in one corner. There are two pieces of folded parchment on the table, and a card. The card is addressed to Andrath, and bears the logo of Sarah's Potions and Salves. When the elf turns the card over the note confirms that his order is ready for pick up at his convenience. One of the parchments is for the elf as well. It is from Feorges, bidding the apprentice to hurry back to Jarlswolf with the supplies. The remaining letter is to Merryn, from the younger sister of his dead wife. She begs him to come to Rowena, where she now lives. She has come upon a sword, much like his missing family hierloom, and the merchant possessing it has agreed to hold it for a fortnight."
Kiel enters the room, with a pitcher of water and a basin. A cloth is draped over one arm. As he sets the basin and pitcher on the dresser by the window, he answers Harvest. "I work for my coin now. Lincoln says I can have a place to stay and eat in the kitchen, an he'll pay me if I stay with him 'n Hildy and help out around the inn. I figger I'll save up for a bow and some arrowheads, and maybe a dog.
(OOC: Merryn/John is leaving Cinnamon Valley and the Wold for other adventures. We wish him well.)
(OOC: There will be another post again over the weekend to respond to things not addressed in this DM post (including Villemus' detect magic.) Any, please roll a perform check.)
Merryn Friday June 10th, 2005 8:46:28 AM
Addressing as much of the group as possible, Merryn holds up the letter and announces: "My sister-in-law has written me concerning my quest. She has found new information for me that I might use to track down those who so violently ended my chance of having a family, and of happiness. While this news is certainly good, it also saddens me - for I shall have to leave the good company of the Swords of Light and seek out my vengeance on my own. I am forever indebted to your group for allowing my to assist you in your mission against the Dread. I can only wish you luck in the future. As for me, I depart immediately for Rowena. I must see this sword for myself."
His speech concluded, Merryn heads for the door and turns in the direction of Rowena, looking back once at the Shadfly Inn with a smile and a tear in his eye.
OOC: Thank you everyone in the game who, with the assistance of the DMs, has made this an enjoyable experience. Good luck for the future, both in the Wold and in the World! :)

"You have earned these coins," she says. "Let wisdom bring wisdom, and in the bringing let there be peace." Perhaps the boy will understand. Perhaps not. Someday. Maybe. It is enough now, though, that Harvest Moon understand the words given to her so long ago by another.
The brown girl cocks a brow at the curious sight of the many elves outside the door in the common parts of the inn. (Spot 13) But Merryn Blackbride break's her train of thought with his announcement.
Harvest Moon touches the druid on the arm, letting her eyes speak the goodbyes. Then she bows her head, the crest of hair obscuring her features as she steps away.
Ashalan d20+3=20 Friday June 10th, 2005 10:44:57 AM
Entering the room after refilling his mug in the from the common area up front, Ash has a quizzical look on his face. (Spot 20)
"Is it just me, or are there a whole lot of elves here? Now I know I'm not too smart concerning the way's of this land, but isn't that not normal?"
The oddness of the elves leaves him as he spots Merryn preparing for travel. Not knowing the druid as well as he might like, Ash makes his goodbyes with the hope of a meeting in the future and a prayer for "Alemi to guide your steps, and live in your heart."
Any d20=3 d20+5=7 Friday June 10th, 2005 11:52:14 AM
(spot check +4 forgot to add it in the roll for a 7)
Any is occupied with his lute in the corner of the room, strumming quietly to himself. He will casually stroll from group to group, listening as he strums, trying to gain more information to the situation(gather info, another lousy 7). If someone asks him for a song he will oblige, otherwise he will try to remain in the background.
Arminas d20+8=19 Friday June 10th, 2005 5:47:41 PM
Arminas says good-bye to Merryn.
"I am sad to see you go, a druid can accomplish much as Nature renews. Good luck in your travels."
Arminas listens to the music of their new friend, and enjoys some pie and eggs at the table. Looking about (spot 19), he notices that many elves are in the great room. A day ago, that would have filled him with joy. Then there was the treachery of Greenblade. Now, Arminas looks around the room with suspicion.
He notices Harvest and the boy she rescued from the street. It brings a smile to his face. There is still goodness in the Wold.
Villemus d20+8=21 Sunday June 12th, 2005 12:28:12 PM
"Although it had been just a day, I felt that we are friends for a long time. Take care and may Gargul watches over you.", Villemus said somberly.
Noticing the unusual number of elven bloods, the half-drow shrugged and greeted the travellers, "Greetings! I am Villemus and dying for news!"
Rolls Spot: 21
Bralin Sunday June 12th, 2005 9:53:03 PM
Bralin raises a mug in a silent toast to the departing Merryn. A good comrade, but time goes on.
The high number of elves in the inn does not go unnoticed.
The dwarf sits, and eats, and watches, thinking of elves, and plants, and the undead.
Andrath d20+17=18 Sunday June 12th, 2005 11:04:19 PM
Still wiping the sleep from his eyes, and heading directly for breakfast to sate his noisy stomach, Andrath pays little attention to the other guests at the inn. [OOC: Rolled a natural 1 for the spot!]
He fills a plate and sits down, then reads the notes from the apothecary, and his wizardly mentor. To no-one in particular, he says, "I will need to return to Jarlswolf, to bring some items to Feorges."
He looks up as Merryn announces his intent to leave. "We will all be sorry to see you go. Safe travels, and I am sure that we will meet again. Good luck with your search."
DM Bob & Carla Monday June 13th, 2005 12:21:25 AM
Merryn takes his leave of the Swords of Light and heads off to Rowena to settle a personal score. Andrath reads his notes and voices his desire to return to Jarlwolf as soon as possible. Lincoln shows the group to a back room where the party can discuss their affairs in quiet while they wait for Caerthon. Bralin piles up the recently acquired loot and Villimuth gives it a quick scan. The entire lot glows with magic.
Equipment and weapons are left behind as the party heads for the breakfast buffet. The full house so early in the morning is a bit of a surprise, but the fact that all the guests are of elven blood is a little unusual. Most have an air of having been up the night, without the opportunity for meditation or rest. They are a cautious lot, and some even look a little afraid. A little girl with pointed ears, and silver hair whines, "can we go home now?" and is shushed by her mother. At Villemus' joyful greeting the room goes quiet, then a quiet murmur as a few return to their conversation. Most have their eyes on their plates. One young elf stands, leaving a silver coin on the table. As he passes the half-drow, and the rest of the Swords of Light he pauses. "The Culverwood is no longer safe for those of elven blood who value their freedom!. The ruler of, the Emerald Kingdom has seen to that!" He shakes his head, a bitter look on his handsome face as he exits the inn.
Lincoln approaches Any, a pint of ale in his hand. "'Tis to early for that, lad!" He says, then with a chuckle, "they're a morose lot. Can't rightly tell what's up, but seems they had to leave their forest homes!"
Lorth Monday June 13th, 2005 8:34:17 AM
"Andrath, can we not leave after breakfast?", Lorth chuckles. "Regardless, I'll go with you, whenever your ready." Lorth then finishes what he is eating and if he has times, lays all his equipment out to clean it.
Andrath Monday June 13th, 2005 10:20:27 AM
Andrath, his stomach now successfully full, walks over and asks Lincoln, "Why have all these elves shown up? What do you know about the Culverwood? Why is it not safe for elves anymore?"
After hearing the answers, he turns to Lorth and says, "I expect we can leave shortly, although I am a little worried about all these elves."
Ashalan d20+4=15 Monday June 13th, 2005 10:36:28 AM
Letting the others break their fast, Ashalan decides to satisfy his curiosity regarding the gathering of elves.
Making his way to the front of the inn, Ash walks from table to table, quietly chatting with his half-brethren. Quick to share a laugh, and even quicker to offer a word of support, the innocuous questions he asks about the troubles in the Culverwood are hardly noticed. (Gather Information: 15)
Any d20+5=20 Monday June 13th, 2005 11:03:59 AM
Any takes the tankard of ale from the innkeeper, and carefully puts away his lute. Hearing the questions that his companions are asking around the room, he sees that there is more going on in the world than he ahd known. He begins to move about the room, doing small bits os sleight of hand to amuse the few children, and perhaps gain some knowledge of what has happened. His questioning is kept discrete, but pointed.
Any Monday June 13th, 2005 11:05:27 AM
OOC Sorry the roll was for gather info.
Harvest d20+3=10 Monday June 13th, 2005 4:20:31 PM
Harvest Moon selects a slice of chicken pie. Then, glancing cautiously about her in case someone else might be watching, she takes another.
On the way to a nearby table, the brown girl takes an uneaten crust from an otherwise empty plate, munching at the delicious, flaky butter-rich goodness. Pulling herself up into a chair, she listens and watches the goings on.
There is little mistaking the look of refugees. It is, however, a look so familiar that, for Harvest Moon, it goes near unnoticed. Harvest cuts a small corner of chicken pie with the edge of her fork, and, eyes still on comings and goings of the elven group, lifts it to her mouth.
"The ruler of, the Emerald Kingdom is a dragon, is he not?" she asks all and none at the same time. (Knowledge History 10. That's a simple question, isn't it?)
Bralin Monday June 13th, 2005 8:27:05 PM Backtracking to the detect magic Bralin approaches Villemus. "Yon chest is warded with a glyph," he says, pointing to the chest. "Can ye remove the spell?"
Back on the inn floor, Bralin continues to sit and watch. He was about to go back upstairs, but the question regarding Parnoth and Culverwood may prove interesting. The dwarf stays a bit longer.
Villemus Monday June 13th, 2005 10:20:42 PM
"Are we not resting first? I hadn't the time to recover my spells yet...", a draply Villemus commented.
And in response to Bralin's query, the half drow wizard replied, "There is indeed a spell to remove a ward, but I never did manage to learn it. However, I believe there is a clerical equivalent."
DM Bob & Carla d4+1=5 Monday June 13th, 2005 11:56:53 PM
Bellies full, curiosity gets the better of the Swords of Light. While Lorth interviews Lincoln, Ash and Any work the room. Customers come and go, and five hours, and several tankards of ale, later they have learned that elves and those with elven blood are pouring out of the Culverwood. Rumours of inhabitatants of the ancient forest having been taken into slavery by the minions of Parnoth having spurred an exodus. It turns out the green dragon has cast his eyes northward beyond the edges of his kingdom and further into the magical forest.
Harvest remembers some old bits of history. It is enough for her to remember that a green dragon by the name of Parnoth made his appearance in the Wold a very long time ago. He spent a long time cultivating the Emerald Kingdom in the north of Izen and the fringes of Culverwood.
Bralin is curious about the neglected chest in the party's possession, and Villimus starts to feel the effects of 24 hours without repose. Andrath visits Sally's Potions and Salves and returns with the parcel for Feorges, arriving at the door at the same time as the paladin, Caerthon.
Lorth Tuesday June 14th, 2005 8:09:17 AM
Lorth continues to clean his gear in the back room.
Ashalan Tuesday June 14th, 2005 12:14:03 PM
Stifling a yawn with the back of his hand, Ash rejoins his companions in the back room.
"From what I can gather it seems to me that there is more trouble abroad than what the Dread is stirring up. But right now *yawn* I am too tired to face a fieldmouse, much less the evil that walks the land. Hildy does have some beds available, right?"
Harvest Tuesday June 14th, 2005 12:53:51 PM
The morning passes. Harvest listens and watches as Ashalan Lathanyel and ... the new one converse with the elven refugees. The little monk quietly observes the new one as he goes about his task. He has an ease about him. And yet, there is a reserve that indicates he is, even yet, about a task of some sort. (OoC: Have we gotten Any's name IC yet?)
From her seat at the table, Harvest turns to one of the elven refugees.
"What will you do now?" she asks. "Will you attempt to settle here? Is there still hope that you may return home?"
After a moments reflection, she continues. "We have recently engaged in a battle ourselves. Against an invasion from The Dread. Many at Stormwind Castle were slain. Perhaps, if you seek employment, they would have positions there. I am sure that there is much work to be done."
Bralin Tuesday June 14th, 2005 8:00:51 PM
Bralin returns to his rooms to ponder the problem of the chest. The Swords of Light require funds to identify the recently won items. The chest likely holds thoses funds. And yet, the ward prevents all from opening it.
Mayhap the two scrolls contain some help.
The dwarf casts Read Magic, and examines the scrolls.
Any Tuesday June 14th, 2005 8:27:01 PM
Any gathers his gear and says, " I agree with my worthy friend here, it is time for rest, especially if there are still more tasks ahead of us. From what we have learned this day from these poor folks, I can see that there is much to do. If this company will have me I would join with you to settle this conflict once and for all, otherwise a poor craftsman will never be able to earn a living."
He then retires to a room if one is available, the stable if not. He is careful to care for his weapons, making sure of their edge and location before he retires.
Villemus d20+13=29 Tuesday June 14th, 2005 9:51:39 PM
Totally exhausted, the half drow begged the matronly inn keeper for a place to rest, for five silver pieces are all he owned at the moment.
While stumbling about for a resting place, Villemus gave some thoughts on opening that chest. "If the warding isn't set by a very strong cleric, our rogue or monk should be able to avoid the effects of the trap."
Rolls Spellcraft: 29 to see if it will trigger the ward if we cut a hole at the base of the chest instead of opening it (what is the exact trigger conditions of the warding). And what type of glyp it is. (is it a simple Blast warding or a stored spell)
Andrath Tuesday June 14th, 2005 11:29:14 PM
The elf returns with the package for Feorges, almost running into Caerthon at the door. "Good to see you again, sir. It may be difficult finding a seat inside, what with all the elven refugees. You can join our table, if you would like."
He joins the party, and listens closely to the discussion regarding the magically-protected box. "I could try to remove the ward using my mechanical skills, but it is likely in no way a certain thing."
DM Bob & Carla Wednesday June 15th, 2005 12:36:41 AM
Harvest Moon attempts to engage a slender elf in woodsman's garb in conversation, but the fellow only stares into the bottom of his mug of ale in a vague way. "I've lost everything!" he lets out, a catch in his voice. "The tree house was completed a fortnight ago, and I was to collect Zisstre at her father's house. We were to be wed." Turning mournful eyes on the monk, he continues, "when I arrived there was naught but the family's halfling cook, and I had to search her out, for she was in hiding. She told me a party of slavers had taken the family to the south." At the suggestion of work at the garrison, he nods his head, and rises to leave, a little unsteady on his feet. "Yes! Better to die for a noble cause then to live and mourn that which is lost!"
Lorth, Ashalan, and Any retire to the back room when they learn the inn is filled to capacity and their rooms have been let out. Lorth cleans his gear, while the half-elves descend into a trance like state.
Bralin understands the scrolls to be Confusion and Web . They will be no help with the chest. Villemus figures physical of magical probing are unlikely to bypass the glyph, and tampering with the chest might just trigger the glyph.
Andrath enters the back room and volunteers to check out the container, although he makes no promises regarding his abilities.
Entering after the elf, Caerthon addresses the group brusquely. "There will be time enough to rest and play with your trinkets once we get back to Jarlwolf. A wagon waits. If we leave now, we can arrive shortly after nightfall. I must call on the Mistress of the Coven of Weal before the meeting of the Pitchfork Council. Caerthon turns on his heel and exits the back room, and then the inn.
+++++
Outside there is a large wagon drawn by two heavy horses. Caerthorn's gear is stored under the seat, and Tangiers, the paladin's war horse is tied to the tailgate of the wagon. It is an old hay wagon, long and large enough for the entire party with room to spare. A layer of fresh hay pads the bottom of the vehicle. The sun overhead is bright and high in the sky. The day is warm, but there is a gentle breeze keeping it from becoming too hot. Hildy hurries after the party and hands a large bundle wrapped in a checkered cloth to Harvest, with the admonition to "comeback to Magpie soon!"
Lorth Wednesday June 15th, 2005 9:39:36 AM
Lorth stowes his gear in the back of the wagon. "Caerthon, if need be I can drive the wagon, so you can get some rest.", Lorth offers, "I've rode and driven horses since I was a young boy."
If Caerthon agrees, Lorth takes up the reins, skillfully.
If Caerthon refuses Lorth says, "Well, if you change your mind, wake me, I'll be attempting to nap." He then does his best to get comfortable in the wagon.
Any Wednesday June 15th, 2005 9:57:39 AM
Any puts his gear into the bottom of the wagon, tethers his horse to the back, and using his saddle as a pillow, makes himself comfortable. Those who are paying attention might notice that he slides his dagger free under his cloak, and places it under the edge of the saddle near his hand.
Harvest Wednesday June 15th, 2005 11:12:05 AM
The elf and his lost bride, turned to slavery, remain with Harvest Moon for a long while after the conversation ends, and the elf, himself, departs.
Talk of the chest, a glyph, opening, and such momentarily pierce through the shell of her thoughts.
"I can bring an Unseen Servant to open the chest," she says in a distracted voice. "We may watch from a safe distance. 25 feet, perhaps. Is it locked, Andrath Silverhand?" she asks. "Have you tried reading the glyph?" she asks as well before wandering off with a frown upon her face.
Still wrapped in thought, the brown girl shoulders her haversack as the call comes to leave for Jarlwolf. Outside the Inn, she wraps the halfling woman in a hug that lingers with the affection she has come to feel for Hildy, Lincoln and the little Inn itself. "Take care of Kiel," she says as she takes the cloth wrapped bundle. "I very much believe that he is a good boy at heart."
Climbing into the wagon, Harvest waves goodbye, continuing until the Inn fades into the distance.
Harvest Moon gazes in a vaguely southern direction as the cart bumps along the road, crooning its soothing song of motion.
"Where is the Emerald Kingdom?" she asks off hand.
Villemus Wednesday June 15th, 2005 1:58:10 PM
Weary beyond belief, Villemus dragged himself into the wagon and fell into a dead stupor.
Ashalan Wednesday June 15th, 2005 2:18:12 PM
Helping the others load their gear, Ash climbs into the wagon. His eagerness to travel at odds with his need for rest, the gleam in his eyes soon fades as the gentle movement of the wagon coupled with the sweet smell of hay lull him to sleep.
Bralin Wednesday June 15th, 2005 8:18:24 PM
Bralin silently regards the space vacated by Caerthon for many long minutes, before following the paladin out of the room.
The dwarf scrambles into the wagon and also looks for a place to sleep.
Arminas Wednesday June 15th, 2005 8:26:39 PM
OOC: Sorry, could not get an internet connection from Lake Powell, an unexpected event.
Arminas climbs onto the wagon and looks for a place to rest against the sideboards. A sad look is on his face.
"The Culverwood unsafe for elves, I never thought I would hear that said. We must find a way to stop the green dragon."
Looking around the group, he adds:
"Has anyone here ever killed a dragon?"
DM Bob & Carla Thursday June 16th, 2005 1:11:59 AM
Caerthon jumps off the wagon after handing the reigns over to Lorth. A moment later and he is beside the vehicle astride Tangiers. Exhausted, Villimus, Any, Ashalan, and Bralin succumb to the gentle sway of the wagon and fall asleep. Their curiosity overcoming their fatigue, Harvest and Arminus give voice to their questions.
Caerthon overhears the small monk, and falls back until he is abreast the wagon. "The Emerald Kingdom is in the north of Izen and the very southern fringes of the Culverwood forest." The paladin waves left hand vaguely towards the forest to the party's south. "It would be a trip of many days through the Culverwood before you would reach it." The paladin shakes his head, "Either Parnoth and his minions have expanded deeper into the Culverwood or these elves have ventured very far indeed."
The paladin shakes his head at the ranger's question. "I have not even seen a dragon, although I would like to meet a gold. I have heard the metallics can be good conversationalists!" Caerthon smiles at his joke, then adds, "I heard tales of an adventuring group that encountered a red dragon. Several of the party were lost before it was subdued, and it was only a wurmling."
The wagon makes its way along the well established trail that hugs the base of Wolf Hill with Mint Tree Creek on the left. Periodically the party passes small groups of elves or half elves making their way in the direction of Magpie Crossing. These are not the regular travelers encountered on this road, but families, clans, and even small communities in some sort of an exodus. At one point, where the road from Merrydale (really an extension of the Fairy Trail from the Culverwood) connects with the road to Jarlwolf, there is a small village of hastily assembled tents around what appears to be a medical station. Youngsters run about unkempt and unattended. Adults appear morose, a vacant look in their eyes. The wagon pulls aside to let a delivery of barrels of water pass by. A soldier bearing the insignia of the militia smiles apologetically at Lorth, "they started arriving last week," he says shrugging his shoulders, "one of 'em had this." The soldier hands a ragged scroll to Arminus.
************** By the will of the mighty Parnoth, ruler of the Emerald Kingdom and Dragon of Ancient Rank, it is forthwith decreed and made into law that any of elven blood must heretofore carry upon their person legitimate authentification that they are either citizens of an alien land or legally the property of an Emerald Kingdom non-elf, otherwise said elven-blooded individual shall be declared to be in violation of this law and shall immediately become the property of Parnoth.
Legitimate authentification includes: birth certificates (duly sealed by the officials of the alien country); citizenship papers (likewise sealed); and the wearing of a closed bracelet upon one wrist of the individual--said bracelet bearing the seal of his or her owner.
Anyone of elven blood not bearing any of the above, or found to be bearing falsified authentification shall immediately be seized and become chattel of Parnoth, to be cuffed with Parnoth's own seal without hesitation.
So it is decreed from this day forth! Hail the mighty Parnoth, terrible and benevolent! May he reign over the Emerald Kingdom forever!
************
Lorth Thursday June 16th, 2005 7:40:54 AM
Lorth drives the cart a a safe pace, avoiding all the people on the road. When Arminas shares what the scroll says, Lorth asks, "Was slavery always the norm in the emerald kingdom, or is this something new?"
Greg d6=5 Thursday June 16th, 2005 10:24:19 AM
Hit point roll for Andrath going up a level in rogue.
Any Thursday June 16th, 2005 10:59:31 AM
Any sits and stretches, then lightly climbs down from the wagon, as it rolls slowly along. He lifts his saddle out and throws it astride his horse, quickly and efficiently cinching it down. Then he catches the wagon and retrieves the remainder of his gear, again settling it with the ease of long practice. Finally finished he rides up alongside the wagon. "I know I have never seen a dragon, but my master Westar told me tales of them. They can be potent enemies, or invaluable friends, according to their inclination and type. He spoke of one Golden Dragon that he met years and years ago, who went by the name of Shampta." "As for this Green Parnoth, I do not believe he will be welcoming to anyone."
As Any rides along, he is watching the refugees, and shakes his head, wishing that there was more that could be done to help them.
Ashalan Thursday June 16th, 2005 11:04:46 AM
Feeling a tad bit more rested, Ash opens his eyes as the wagon pulls to a halt on the side of the road.
The memory of dreams fighting mighty dragons with flaming fists and magical bolts of energy quickly fade as he rubs his bleary eyes and takes in the scene around him. His generous heart going out to the bedraggled refugees as he scans the makeshift village.
Arminas' words make it to his ears and he listens to the full decree of this Parnoth.
His face twisitng in disgust Ash speaks more to himself than to anyone in particular, "Ruler of the Emerald Kingdom he may be, but Alemi do teach us that all creatures are free of body, mind, and spirit. He has no right to do this!
Villemus Thursday June 16th, 2005 12:29:47 PM
Looking at Arminas, Villemus commented, "Any life or death shouldn't be made slight of. We kill because we must, not because we can." With that the half-drow turned over and was soon fast asleep.
The light sleeping necromancer soon awake as the soldiers handed a parchment over to Lorth. After reading the proclaimation, Villemus shook his head sadly, "I wonder if this have to do with elves joining the Dreads."
Taking out his spellbook, the necromancer began memorising his spells for the day.
Harvest Thursday June 16th, 2005 1:42:32 PM
A tent village.
Harvest Moon has the strange sense of her old life moving in to impose itself upon these green hills and valleys. The children who run about, unattended, any one of them could be her.
In silence, she reads the scroll as it is passed from hand to hand among the Swords of Light. She reads it once. And then she reads it again.
"Paladin Caerthon," she asks, "how long will we be with our business in Jarlwolf?"
Arminas Thursday June 16th, 2005 2:01:01 PM
After reading the scroll, Arminas is silent for a long time. No doubt a surprise to Bralin.
He looks upon the throngs of elves who have fled the Culverwood with sympathy and concern. Finally, Arminas can bear it no longer.
"I know now that not all my people are good. Slavery though is never acceptable."
Looking at Villemus, he adds:
"I agree that death should not be dealt out without reason, however I believe you are missing an important point. If we are to try and stop this dragon, we are likely to fail, and it is us who will die. Yet we must try. We should attempt to kill because we MUST, though most likely we cannot."
Looking at Any, a smile plays upon the face of Arminas that has been missing for a long while.
"Yes, I have heard of this Shampta, dragon of gold. I wonder if we could encounter a dragon of goodness that could help us in our cause?"
Andrath Thursday June 16th, 2005 10:49:06 PM
Andrath stashes the package for Feorges in the wagon, and then catches a rest like everyone else.
When the party stops at the medical station, Andrath looks around, a little bit upset. He approaches one of the leader elves, and asks, "My family lives in an elven village at the north edge of the Culverwood. Has this Parnoth exerted his pressure all the way to the top of the forest?"
DM Bob & Carla Friday June 17th, 2005 1:34:27 AM
The sight of the displaced clearly unnerves several of the party. The wagon stalled temporarily, a few questions are asked and answered. Lorth learns that slavery per se hasn't been the norm but to maintain his beautiful kingdom and the exquisite Emerald City, Parnoth was known to tax the citizens ruthlessly. Andrath learns that most did not think the green dragon had made incursions far beyond the southern fringes of the Culverwood, however it had been rumored that the suspicious ruler employed an intricate spy network. The Culverwood just wasn't as safe as it used to be.
The road once again open, the wagon continues the journey to Jarlwolf. There are refugees along the route, but not so many as were encountered north of Merrydale or heading towards Magpie Crossing.
As the party approaches Jarlwolf, Caerthon answers Harvest Moon. "We must report to the Pitchfork council and inform them of the activities of the Dread, the rearming of the Crimson Fort and the incursion into Cinnamon Valley of their servants." Pointing to the scroll in the monk's hand, he continues, "I'm sure what has been going on to the south is no mystery to the council. We may learn more if we are permitted to stay though the proceedings."
The long day comes to an end, and the wagon enters town. It is not quite night, but the windows glow with lights, and those who walk abroad carry lanterns or torches. A slender female with longish straw-colored hair stands alone in the square, not far from Jarlwolf's famous Adventurer's Board She is wearing a matching green top and short skirt over leggings and practical soft boots. There is a longbow slung over her back, and she holds a stick with a lantern at the end. Lorth, Andrath, and Bralin recognize the witch, Cassandra, from the Coven of Weal. She frowns as she tries to make out the group in the shadows and then a smile brightens her face. "The Swords of Light" she cries, "and you have Caerthon with you!"
The young woman gives the greying paladin a hug, and ignorant of his embarrassment turns to the group. "You must come up to the house. There are no roms at any of the inns. Between the notaries and their entourage here for the council meeting, and the exodus of elves from the Culverwood, all the inns are full up. Walking backwards up the road towards the northern edge of town, Cassandra asks, "and who are your new friends?"
+++++++
Once arrived at the manor a small feast is quickly laid, in a private room. Wine is served, and cheeses and bread. There is an abundance of fruit spilling out from an ornamental cornucopia. Caerthon departs, informing the group he will see them later the next day. Cassandra reminds him that the mistress of the manor, Dulcet, wishes to meet with the party over dinner the next day, to debrief them before the council meeting. Cassandra is curious about the newcomers, and doesn't volunteer much information about what has happened in Jarlworlf during the party's absence. Late at night when the celebration is winding down, a servant shows the weary adventurers to a small walled garden in the middle of which is an enormous cauldron from which steam escapes into the cool night. The servant smirks and says, "I'll take your clothes. There are robes for afterwards, and we'll have beds made up. The clothes will be cleaned and ready for you in the morning." Before he leaves, the servant takes out a wand, stirs the warm water in the cauldron and it starts to roil and bubble gently.
(OOC: Post for the night, through to the morning. Do you go back into town to explore? Do you work on the chest?)
Lorth Friday June 17th, 2005 8:11:03 AM
Lorth bows deeply to Cassandra when he sees her. "It is good to see you, dear lady.", he says. "We have had quiet a few additions to our party since last we met, but I will let a better storyteller give you the details."
Following Cassandra up the road and to the manor, Lorth eats a small dinner, then says, "After washing up, you must excuse me as I will need to go straight to bed."
Harvest Friday June 17th, 2005 1:38:10 PM
"My name is Harvest Moon." The small brown girl bows to Cassandra, from the Coven of Weal. She follows along with the others as they are taken through a whirl of feasting and introductions.
"Bralin Stoneminder," she pulls the dwarf aside during the festivities, "if you wish, we can place the chest in a room. I will summon an invisible servant, and with the door closed, have the servant open the chest. I think that should be safe enough. Though the contents of the chest may suffer."
Later that night in the garden, Harvest pulls the bulky folds of her rough home-spun robe over her head and carefully folds it on the grass. Underneath, her breasts are small, her body thin, and her skin is very pink. She climbs into the cauldron, completely unabashed by her nakedness.
Sitting in the deliciously warm water, she slowly sinks down until she is just barely submerged. Then she rises back up with only her head exposed. The brown crest of hair that normally rides over her forehead now drapes down, covering one eye, plastering over one cheek, to tickle the corner of her very broad and happy grin.
Arminas Friday June 17th, 2005 1:49:38 PM
Bowing to Cassandra, Arminas adds:
"I am Arminas, from the vicinity of Merrydale in the Culverwood, presently a member of the Woldian League of Adventures and recently sent to help the Swords of Light with their quests. The events of the day have me very concerned. How is it that Parnoth is able to gain strength so quickly? Are there none to stand against the Emerald City?"
Looking to also cleanse himself, Arminas goes to the cauldron to find the young girl almost completely submerged.
"Perhaps if I were to aquire some potatoes and carrots we could have Harvest stew."
He smiles, knowing that his attempt at humour in these dark times was weak. Yet an attempt he made.
Arminas then rests, trying to regain his strength and think through the trials before him.
Any Friday June 17th, 2005 2:57:51 PM
Any looks at the tubs prepared for them and says, "I could use a bath, but will care for my own clothes, I'm afraid too much lye soap and scrubbing might be more than they can handle. Thank you for the offer though." He then slips his clothes from his body, standing tanned and unabashed before those present. Then he too sinks into one of the hot tubs of water, and luxuriates in a good soaking. When done, he will don the clean robe and carefully clean and brush ou his clothes and gear, and then retire for the night.
Villemus Friday June 17th, 2005 3:34:07 PM
In reply to Arminas's answer, Villemus replied, "I've no doubts about your good intentions, but I still do find you guys kill too easily."
Shrugging his shoulder, the wild drow continued, "Had anyone considered why did the ruler of the Emerald Kingdom suddenly had a sudden change of policy? Mayhap there is a strong reason behind? Someone or some incident triggered this change?"
"Perhaps we should find out more. Perhaps there are better ways. Killing shouldn't be the first option."
~~
When the party finally reached Jarlwolf, the refreshed half-drow hopped down the wagon. Noticing the young lady's query, Villemus gave a overly dramatic bow and said, "Greeting milady! Villemus of House Bralfah at your service."
~~
"A bath! A bath!", the tattooed half-drow screeched happily before jumping into the tub.
After spending almost an hour washing away the travel stains, Villemus emerged refreshed and ready to take on the world.
"Are we going to open the chest or not?"
~~
After fooling around for awhile, Villemus retired to his bed and prepared the spells for tommorrow.
Bralin Sunday June 19th, 2005 7:09:50 PM
The dwarf nods a greeting to Cassandra, but says nothing.
Later, he also nods in agreement with Harvest. Her plan to open the chest has merit.
The dwarf eyes the cauldron skeptically. However, it appears bathing is required. He disrobes, climbs in, scrubs himself, and climbs out. The entire procedure takes perhaps five minutes.
Bralin is leaving when Villemus asks his question. Silently, the dwarf regards him for several moments. A wizard should have better memory. "Did ye not have The Dream?" he asks. "The Dream of the Laughing Eyes foretelling the destruction of Parnoth? Elves have freed the King. Parnoth now strikes back." Bralin looks to all the elves. Elves who freed this Fae King. Elves who do not appear to understand actions bring counteractions.
"Mayhap this King brings a new Age. Mayhap tis an Age for Good." The dwarf seeks the eyes of each of the Swords of Light. "E'en if true, tis folly to believe all the Powers of this Age will readily give up their place. War comes. Beyond e'en The Dread, War comes."
Bralin returns to his room to wait for Harvest and ponder a troubling thought.
War comes. As yet, tis not clear which side he should be on.
DM Bob and Carla Monday June 20th, 2005 7:39:28 AM
Engulfed in fluffy white cotton robes, each member of the party is pointed in the direction of a door off the walled garden. The rooms are small, but comfortable. The beds made with clean linens and ample covers. The night is quiet and most of the party sleeps a deep, dreamless, and restorative sleep. The paladin however tosses and turns as he dreams. Highlight to display spoiler: { In his dreams, Lorth is visited by a magical beast in the form of a glorious horse fully 16 hands tall the color of grey shadows. It looks at him with dark intelligent eyes, before tossing its thick grey mane, and racing ahead a pace. It stops, looks over its shoulder, and waits for the paladin to follow, before racing off again. }
On waking, each party member finds his or her clothes cleaned, pressed, and mended hanging neatly from a hook on the back of the door. Outside in the walled garden, three gnomes are busy pruning and clipping the vegetation that seems to have doubled in size from the night before. After an early breakfast, Harvest and Bralin place the mysterious chest on the floor in the middle of Harvest's room. The monk summons a magical servant, who slips through the door quickly before it is slammed shut. Shortly after there is a KABOOM! and then the sound of tinkling metal as 200 platinum coins pelt the ceiling and walls before falling to the ground.
The explosion rocks the small manor house, but fortunately the only damage is to the inside of Harvest's room. The servant from the night before raises his hands to the sky and rolls his eyes then pulls his wand out from his pocket. With a few waves and some arcane words he conjures up a few ghostly servants of his own. Obviously, explosions are not an uncommon thing in Dulcet's manor house. "Off with you now!" he scolds, as he shoos the party off, "but remember to be back for dinner. Mistress is expecting you!"
Lorth Monday June 20th, 2005 8:10:49 AM
Lorth wakes bleary eyed, he spends the entire day in solitude, cleaning and repairing his gear and contemplating his dream. If the horse comes again in his dreams, he will follow it.
Thoughts weigh heavy on his mind, like Bralin, he is not sure what side of this coming war to be on. The elves care not for anything but other elves and their personal views. In their smugness they cause problems for all other races. In fact one could say they are bringing these problems with Parnoth upon themselves. Yet the dragon is taking free beings and making them slaves, and usually that is a bad thing, although life servants are not unheard of. Lorth decides that he will have to learn more.
Any Monday June 20th, 2005 10:39:36 AM
Any awakes in the morning, dresses, and carefully checks all of his gear. When satisfied, he venture out into the castle in search of the company and breakfast, his lute slung across his back. This business of slaves has troubled him deeply. He has seen bonded servants and slaves often in his travels, and has never agreed with the practice, and this time he likes even less. If they continue, will this small group of adventurerers be forced to carry papers to remain free, or will it matter to this Parnoth?
Ashalan Monday June 20th, 2005 11:23:27 AM
Ash wakes feeling truly clean and refreshed, perhaps for the first time since leaving the monastery, which he is indeed thankful for.
Though his night was not all filled with pleasant dreams. The dwarf's foretelling of war is disconcerting to the sheltered monk. Moreover, Bralin's thoughts on actions and counteractions have filled his head with questions, questions that have been hard to shake.
All of his life Ash has let Alemi fully guide his steps, trusting that his God would transform his natural instincts into the pure will of Alemi. His master, Brother Ly, always taught of the need to clear the mind of all conscious thought, only then would one become open to that godly will. Of course this leads very little room for consideration of action and reactions, but is that the right way?
Shaking his head to see if he could physically shake these troubling thoughts loose, to no avail. Ash goes in search of the dwarf to seek answers to his questions.
Bralin Monday June 20th, 2005 11:51:32 AM
As the night passes, Bralin puts away thoughts of war and sides. Tis too soon. He must wait and learn more.
In the morning, the dwarf contemplates The Chamber. He is pleasantly surprised to find his attentiveness has been rewarded, as new powers are revealed.
Bralin rises and joins with Harvest in opening the chest. He nods at approval at the result, and, oblivious of the servant's reaction, joins her in gathering up the platinum. Then, the warrior/cleric tries out his new found skill. He casts a spell and carefully examines the golden ring. [Identify(divine)]
A thought. Mayhap Villemus is capable of this spell. Bralin seeks the drow out. Can he cast Identify? If so, the dwarf has 7 pearls from the party for just such a purpose.
Harvest Monday June 20th, 2005 12:43:05 PM
The early morning is devoted to Gargul. The brown girl turns the rough wooden carving of the eye over in her hands. She sighs, reflections of three nights past coming back to her. The powers of the unblinking eye are undeniable. And yet ... Doubts nibble at the edges of her faith. To serve a god of death. Surely there is a higher calling.
Still, she prays.
Later, Harvest Moon looks with dismay a the devastation that the chest has wrought of the room given to her. Her heart beats in a flurry of anxiety at the way in which their hosts might react to the destruction of their property. Less the prospect of physical retribution or monetary recompense, than an ill-defined fear of rebuke.
"The wisdom of consequences, Boo."
"I cannot apologize enough for the inconvenience I have caused," she says. "I submit myself for your censure."
"Always consider the consequences."
Harvest bows to the servant as he arrives, called by the noise and commotion.
Harvest breathes several sighs of relief as the reaction of those from the House is less disapproving than anticipated. She hurries about the room, helping with the clean up in any way she can, before presenting Bralin Stoneminder with the coins from the chest.
"I go to aide the refugees from the Culverwood," she announces. She spends the day, mostly with the children. There are many games that can be played with no more than what is at hand. Small stones. Drawings in the dust. There are also fine points of scavenging to be taught. There is a fine line between scavenging and thieving. And, it is in her experience that Harvest Moon has found, the better one learns such a lesson, the longer one may wear one's welcome within a new community.
As she works with the refugees, she listens to the many stories that they have of their displacement, wondering what might be the nature of this threat from Parnoth, and, whether or not something might be done about it.

Arminas Monday June 20th, 2005 1:37:15 PM
Arminas awakes from a long needed rest. While his body is rested, his mind is still in turmoil. All night, the dreams of the past came back to him, colliding with the reality of recent events.
The dream is good, and nature is rebounding. Parnoth the oppressor was there too, yet in the end he is defeated. Since Greenblade shared the dream and turned traitor, no doubt other traitors have shared the dream with Parnoth. I should have guessed he would try to hold onto power by any means.
I sense that the paladin and the dwarf do not understand that what befalls the elves will befall all races. Parnoth is a disease, to ignore it does not cure it. Sometimes the cure is painful, yet necessary. So it is now.
An explosion rocks Arminas from his thoughts. With a shrug of his shoulders, he prepares for the day. Arminas eats a light breakfast and goes into town to gather information and to purchase a few items.
Days spells - entangle
Villemus Monday June 20th, 2005 1:56:28 PM
Awakening to the explosion, Villemus swiftly scrambled to his feet and grabbed his snoozing familiar, before dashing out of his room. "So, ye finally opened the chest?", the half-drow remarked as he sees the mess and the coins.
In reply to Bralin's query, Villemus answered, "Well, my master wasn't really interested in divining. So I never did learn how to cast that particular spell either." The necromancer shrugged as a painful looks brushed briefly through Villemus as he mentioned his master.
"So where are we going next?", the now beaming drow queried.
Harvest (2nd Illegal Post) Monday June 20th, 2005 2:31:56 PM
Harvest Moon shoulders her pack as she readies to leave for the elven camp. She cocks her head to one side at the drow's question.
"Where would you like to go next, Villemus Bralfah?" she asks in response. "We are here now. Why would you wish to leave?"
Any (2nd Illegal Post) d20=12 Monday June 20th, 2005 10:25:31 PM
Overhearing Bralin, Any says, "I have the ability to possibly identify that item." He will do so.
Andrath Monday June 20th, 2005 10:31:09 PM
Andrath rises in the morning, refreshed after the meal, bath and good night's rest. As he is getting dressed, he feels the shaking of the house from the chest being opened. "I could have removed that trap, ... , well, maybe I could have anyway. I sure hope no-one was hurt," he thinks to himself.
He takes a few minutes to feed his rat leftovers from last night.
Andrath gathers up the package from the apothecary. On the way through to the main room, Andrath says to whomever from the party is around, "I am taking the parcel to Feorges; I will be back by lunchtime."
The elf makes his way outside, waving to anyone that he sees and recognizes. He walks quickly to Feorges' residence, and approaches the door. Raising his fist, he knocks on the door, and calls out, "Feorges, are you here? I bring greetings and a package from Magpie Crossing."

Arminus covers the short distance from the manor house to the town center. The morning still carries the chill of night, but the sun overhead promises a pleasant day to come. The wood elf soon finds himself in front of the famous Jarlwolf Adventurer's Board. A young human yanks and pulls at the large star-shaped flowers and leaves that threaten to overcome the notice board. It seems as if the vines have grown from the dead wood of the worked logs that support the board. Arminas can read the notices posted on the board.

Bralin is able to surmise that the heavy gold ring shields the wearer's mind from probes to detect thoughts or discern lies or any magics to discern alignment. Unable to enjoy his solitude for long, the dwarf is joined by a reflective Ashalan, and the inordinately cheerful Villemus. He soon finds himself following the long-legged elves into town.
Lorth tends to his gear; his mind returning to his dream of the night before. Harvest learns of a small camp of refugee elves on the outskirts of the town. She learns from the youngsters whom she entertains that they came out of the forest via the Sojourn Trail . They tell the monk stories about monsters in the forest, and being chased by dragons, and how the pixies would steal you away if your parents weren't careful. Harvest gets the impression that these elven tots only experienced the creatures of which they speak in poems, songs, and dreams.
Feorges admits Andrath without ceremony. "It's about time you came back with my supplies!" he says relieving the rogue of his parcel. "Greeting from Magpie, eh? Sally?" Pointing out some parchment and ink, and very old looking scrolls, he asks, "how's your penmanship?"
Having left for a solitary venture into the countryside, Any circles back to Jarlwolf, arriving at the Adventurer's Board at the same time as Bralin and the half elves.
Lorth Tuesday June 21st, 2005 7:41:57 AM
After Lorth finishes with his equipment, he heads to the woods to visit his mother. When he gets there, he tries to keep his composure, while relating the story of finding his father. He makes sure to emphasize the fact that his father is now buried with heros and the recovery of the family sword. He then sits with his mother a while before returning to town.
Harvest Tuesday June 21st, 2005 11:13:13 AM
Harvest Moon tells the children of a small band of adventurers who meet a paladin and take up a mission to travel to rescue the paladin's two companions. They enter the terrible blasted lands of the Dead Zone and journey to the Crimson Fort. On the way, they lose a brave little halfling witch and a gnomish sorcerer. But they also meet a staunch elven ranger and a druid who decide to join their quest.
Under the cover of fog, the valiant heroes sneak past an army of orcs. Within the terrible walls of the Crimson Fort, they find two captive paladins put to torture by a Dread Mage and a Blackguard. A deadly battle ensues in which a wight also appear. The fighting is fierce, but the heroes prevail. The paladin of the group strikes the final blow against the undead wight only to find that it is, in actuality, his long lost father who had fallen in battle years ago and had been turned into an undead creature.
The group escapes the Crimson Fort from a secret exit. Their triumph is bitter sweet. But when they emerge, they find that the Dead Zone has become miraculously green. Flowers bloom everywhere and it lifts their spirits greatly.
Harvest ends her story there and proposes a trip into town. Gathering the children around her, (some as tall as she) Harvest tours the shops of Jarlwolf. At each place she introduces herself and the children to the proprietors of the shop. Introductions and a mutual recognition of each other may, hopefully, help prevent friction between the two communities in the future.
While touring the stores, the brown girl also keeps her eye open for maps. Of particular interest is a map of the area between the Culverwoods and the dragon Parnoth's Emerald Kingdom. Maybe even the Sojourn Trail ...
Any Tuesday June 21st, 2005 11:46:12 AM
Any turns to the others around the board and says, "So what think you my new friends. What news will the mistress of the house have for us, and what more can we do to stop this war against innocents? For myself, I feel a need to do something about the enslavement that is taking place, before it extends to areas that will more closely effect our own lives, else how long will it be until we too are carrying papers which allow us to live and breathe." Any takes his lute from his back, and lightly strums as he walks along.
Ashalan Tuesday June 21st, 2005 12:46:20 PM
Listening with amazement to the sweet sounds that Any so effortlessly creates on his lute Ash givs his opinion to the bard.
"I no have a clue to what the others may think is the best things to do, but my heart wants to help those of the Culverwood."
Squinting up at the board Ash mumbles to himself, "But I really think that someone should go help that poor little girl find her kitty..."
"Here kitty kitty..."
Arminas Tuesday June 21st, 2005 3:28:22 PM
Arminas reads the posts, and decides there are a few items he needs in the Catacombs. Shortly he is back, his purse a little lighter, but he seems to have an added grace in his step.
Seeing the others come up to the board, Arminas mentions:
"Not sure what you want to do, but if the caravan is headed where we are going perhaps we could sign on as guards. That may hide our real purpose. And I am very good with live stock. Actually, animals like me much better than people, especially dwarves."
Looking about at the fugitive elves, he adds:
"We have to stop this! Parnoth has no right to make slaves of the elves. I have the ability to find my way through the deep forest of Culverwood. Perhaps I could even guide the group through safely. No one would expect a group coming through those woods."
Bralin Tuesday June 21st, 2005 9:03:14 PM
The dwarf puts down the ring. Tis a useful magic, if one desired to move amongs one's foes. Bralin has no such desire. Mayhap one of the others would wish it.
He readily accepts Any's offer to identify something, and offers the cloak.
All too soon, the tacturn warrior finds himself in the company of elves wanting to march into Culverwood and free there fellows. He says nothing. He will follow where Andrath leads.
"We cannot go anywhere til the morrow," he does point out. "We are summoned to Dulcet House tonight."
In the meantime, Bralin will make sure to attend the Weapon Proficiency class offered by the Woldian League. He immediately makes for Jarlwolf Yard.
Andrath Tuesday June 21st, 2005 10:33:42 PM
Andrath sighs and heads over to the writing desk. "My hands have mostly been full with sword hafts these past few days, so my penmanship may be a bit rusty."
The elf takes a seat at the desk, and starts the chore of copying. Quickly, his mind starts to wander as his hands carrying out the copying almost on their own. Partway through, he looks up and says, "I have plans for lunch, but I can come back afterwards, if I haven't finished. By the way, what was in the package?"
Arminas Illegal second post Wednesday June 22nd, 2005 12:39:56 AM
Arminas sees Bralin headed towards the weapon proficiency course, and decides to go along.
"Can't have dwarves be the only ones who know how to use the weapons. Seems like elves have greater need than any in these days."
Villemus Wednesday June 22nd, 2005 2:08:14 AM
"Yes, indeed we should help look for the lost kitty!", Villemus proclaimed loudly despite the protest of his raty familiar.
And in response to Arminas's suggestion, Villemus remarked, "That is a great idea! But I feel alot safer if we can get some official looking papers first. Just in case."
And turning back to Ash, the bubbly half-drow gestured wildly, "Com'on! You coming to look for Fang?"
"Now, who or where is Kari?", Villemus mumbled to himself before deciding to ask the passerby. "Hi there, good fellow! Do you know where can I find Kari? The one that lost his/her cat."
DM Bob & Carla Wednesday June 22nd, 2005 7:37:16 AM
Standing in front of the Adventurer's Board the Swords of Light of elven blood wonder if a visit to the Emerald Kingdom might be in order. Bralin meets up with the weapons teacher from the Woldian League of Adventurer's. Turmoch is impressed with the dwarf's skill with his axe. He takes a personal interest in the taciturn fighter, enquiring after his proficiency with other weapons, even sparing with the initiate after the session is over and the other candidates have departed. Arminus takes in the program as well, while waiting for delivery of his goods from the Catacombs.
Harvest's search for maps doesn't yield much. A local offers to draw a map of the Cinnamon Valley for the small monk, but volunteers that The Culverwood is and ancient forest with a power in its own right. It can confuse those who enter its boundaries, for the paths are always changing. In this way it acts to the benefit of the natural and fae creatures in it, and resents incursions. "Parnoth hates it and all its inhabitants for this independence, and its refusal to submit to his will."
Lorth pays his respects to his mother, while Andrath toils under Feorge's tutelage. Ashelan and Villemus joke about searching for "Fang", while Any ponders the party's next action. As the time to return to the manor approaches, the bard sums up the thoughts of many, wondering aloud about the pending meeting with Dulcet, and whether Parnoth's policies will personally affect him and his new friends.
(OOC: Bralin and Arminus, see WLA list of favored weapons for Weapon Proficiency.)
Any Wednesday June 22nd, 2005 11:55:05 AM
Any, not feeling in the mood for marshal training, or hunting for stray cats, tells Bralin he will attempt to identify the cloak. After doing so, he will while away the afternoon by walking among the townsfolk and refugees, playing his lute (and trying to gather more information ). Come time for the appointment for dinner he will return, clean himself up, and present himself with the others.
Harvest Wednesday June 22nd, 2005 12:54:18 PM
"Thank you," Harvest Moon inclines her head in a bow as she holds the map drawn by the helpful shopkeeper. Her smile is genuine. "It is a beautifully drawn map. You are very skillful."
As the afternoon draws late, Harvest rounds up the children and heads back to the camp. Along the way, they collect firewood. The whole squad troops into camp, some with armloads, others with but a stick held in hand.
Harvest waves goodbye and returns to the manor for the meeting at Dulcet House. Once there, she shows off her map, and shares the information about the rocky relationship between the dragon Parnoth and the Culverwoods.

Ashalan Wednesday June 22nd, 2005 2:08:57 PM
Ash spends the day wandering the streets of Jarlwolf, doing more window shopping than buying, and only half-heartedly looking for Fang.
Spending much of his youth in seclusion outside of Rowena, Ash has never really become comfortable with the economic theory of supply and demand, and as such has no real concept of the true value of his meager stash of coins.
All in all, the day spent wandering the markets is quite an education for the innocent half-elf. By the time Ash meets his fellows back at the manor, he is full of curiosity at the purchases of his fellows.
Bralin Wednesday June 22nd, 2005 3:09:44 PM
Bralin is grateful that the weapons expert spends more time with him. The dwarf looks over some of the other weapons on the field, and decides that Bastard Sword possesses enough steel to make learning to weild it worth the effort.
He launches into his training with gusto.
Arminas Wednesday June 22nd, 2005 7:14:02 PM
Arminas picks up a short sword at the WLA training, and gives his best effort to using the sword designed for close fighting.
"All I know about weapons is based upon the premise of keeping as much distance between you and your enemy, while still able to attack him. Lately though, I have found myself in close combat quarters. This weapon may come in handy someday."
Arminas is amazed at the lightness and quickness of the sword.
Back at the manor house, Arminas visits with the swords of light.
"Perhaps we will get information at dinner tonight that will clearly point us in a direction of greatest need. If we need to move through the Culverwood, I have been trained in forest walking, and should be able to lead us through that forest. If you stay close, and keep axes hidden."
Andrath Wednesday June 22nd, 2005 9:51:37 PM
His right hand cramped from the copying, Andrath looks up from his work and says, "Feorges, it seems that I have worked right through lunch. These scrolls were very interesting, and give me some good ideas for the next time I want to expand my training in the magic arts. But now I need to go, and meet with Dulcet for supper. Have a good day."
Assuming Feorges doesn't need him for anything else, Andrath heads back to meet up with the rest of the party, and to dinner with Dulcet.
Villemus Wednesday June 22nd, 2005 10:48:28 PM
Unlike his companion, Villemus was seriously looking for both Kari and his/her cat. The half-drow spent the rest of the day searching for the missing cat, before retiring back for the meeting.
Lorth Thursday June 23rd, 2005 8:03:54 AM
Lorth heads back to town, heading for the adventurers board, no doubt some of his friends will be nearby.
Any Thursday June 23rd, 2005 7:57:39 PM
Any will attend the dinner party, seeking to further his knowledge. He will offer his services as an entertainer, if the host so desires. Otherwise, he will quietly listen to what is said.
