A New Greenmage

A Little Bit of Peace. (DM Jim)

The Hamlet

Gecktar sits down with the scrolls that are handed to him and starts to pour over them. After several hours of work he is satisfied with his findings. [baleful polymorph CL9, true seeing CL9, ironwood CL11, greater restoration CL13, wall of fire CL9, summon monster IX CL17] Gecktar finds it easy to organize a ceremony as the council has already started to put things together.

Flat-top moves too close to the woody vines that grow, intending to chop them down. They grasp at him with greed as they try to drag him in. He had gotten no more than five feet of them before them grabbed at him (Reflex DC 16 or be grasp in their clutches).

Kale leaves the potions and scrolls in the hands of those that can do the most good. He wanders through the hamlet and finds no other tracks of anykind. The only tracks that he finds are those that lead into the hamlet from those they have killed.

Brahmah turns the little wererat over to the hamleteers and then moves over to have a look at the loot, but sees nothing of over note. He does watch Solgrin and Gecktar as they work and smiles at the skills. He is glad to have them around.

Solgrin lets the whole group know that he can do some of the identifying and save the group a little money if they let him gain the spells tomorrow. With Kanchana gone for an unknown amount of time it maybe a wise idea. Solgrin does turn his attention to the potions and comes up with some nice discoveries. [neutralize poison, gaseaous form, magic vestment+3, fly, cure serious wounds, magic vestment+3] Solgrin is pretty sure that potion eight tasted and smell like potion one, the neutralize poison.

Zeoll lets Solgrin know that if he wants to identify anything for the group then he needs to catch Kale. He then turns to investigate this power thing with nature. A group of songbirds have been playing near where he is at when he casts a charm animal spell upon one of them. He feels a flare as natural power flows into him and soon not one but five little songbirds are seated on his arms looking at him expectantly. With a look of total surprise he calls upon the powers of nature again and finds that not one but five wolves have answered his call, they also sit looking at him for some type of orders.

Toros is taken back by the woody vines as he had thought it one of the druids doing, but now he is not sure. Even Horatio has asked about them as he is not responsible and it seems that noone else is as well. But who then...nature herself?

Horatio and the other council member have moved off to the council tree. You can hear a chant of prayers from inside the tree, the name of Wold Mother and Domi called out several times as well as Gargul. If anyone glances in they will find the bodies of the dead layed out on tables, naked, being washed and prepared.

The Hut

Kanchana agrees to help in cleaning up the little hut. She finds the work enjoyable and it also give her time to ponder what she is feeling from nature. She has an idea from Amada's reactions that she is feeling the same thing. Before Kanchana realizes it most of the work is done and Amada looks rather happy. Kanchana can tell that something has changed in nature, power is swelling through it. She feels drunk with the power that is flowing in her and giddy with the humm. It feels as if maybe the scales have tipped in natures favor in her fight.

Amada turns to Kanchana and smiles as she moves over to a section of her wall. She passes her hand over the wood and it seems to pull apart and expose a niche in the wall. "Please take the potion that is inside." If Kanchana does as she is told she will notice that there are four other potions in there as well, all the same it would appear. Amada walks out the back, where the door use to be, and stops in her garden a look of total disgust upon her face as she sees some of the wreckage. She shakes her head and moves off to the side where a large section of earth has been neatly tended. "Are you ready to experience something that you have never done before? To be closer to Mother Wold than you ever thought possible? To feel the power and anguish of our Mother as she struggles in this time?" Her eyes bore into Kanchana as she asks these questions. She points to a small cupboard that is attached to the side of the hut and smiles. "Please leave all you gear inside of there...it will be safe from all as it will only open to your hand...all you need do is lay your hand upon the doors and then will open." She watches with great interest as she waits for Kanchana to make her next move towards a new beginning. Her eyes catch the scimitar hanging from Kanchana's pack and her eyes widen in shock and then narrow to look at the sword more closely, though Kanchana may not notice it (Spot DC 14).

Brahmah
Saturday May 28th, 2005 9:22:43 PM

Brahmah finds a quiet place to sit and clean his weapons, and he takes a long look at the 'wooden' sword.
Finally, with no idea of what the sword might do next, he goes to the source of where he found it to begin with - Amada's.

He will knock on the hut until she answers.

Flat-top  d20+6=22
Sunday May 29th, 2005 6:46:33 AM

Flat-top Jumps out of the way (with all four hooves off the ground and that's no small feat!) He backs away, calling "Kachana! Zeoll! Anybody with knowlage of plants! Come over here and take a look at this tornny bush! It has a life of it's own??" Flat-top will wait for some one to come along to take a look at this plante, after all it is dangerious to children.

OOC: I made my Reflex Save 22 - Also before some one thinks I made a mistake, Flat-top did not see Kachana go off with Amada.

Kanchana  d20+5=17
Sunday May 29th, 2005 8:55:41 PM

Kanchana takes the exact potion that Amada tells her to take. Kanchana isn't quite certain what Amada has planned but will trust her since she did side with the Chosen against the were; and besides Amada does look genuinely happy so Kanchana must be doing something right.

Kanchana follows Amada outside and looks upon the wreckage of Amada's garden with noticable sorrow. Kanchana continues to look over the ruined garden as Amada speaks to her. At the question about the Great Mother's struggles Kanchana looks over at Amada and simply nods; offering no words in answer.

Kanchana just manages to catch Amada's shocked reaction to the black long sword strapped across her pack.
"Do you know something about this odd sword? If so I would dearly like to know what you know about that sword." Kanchana asks the centaur as she stores away her pack in the niche in the wall.
"I honestly do not know much about it, except that it ended up with me through no choice of my own..."

Kanchana closes the niche and stands there looking at Amada. The only things Kanchana has with her are the shirt on her back and the potion.
"I am ready."

Solgrin
Monday May 30th, 2005 2:17:16 AM

When Solgrin finishes with the potions he turns and looks at Brahmah and says "I am going to get some rest and prepare my spells. If I don't now I will be of no use to the rest of the Chosen."

Solgrin then moves off with the arcane scrolls and settles down in a quiet location to rest. When Solgrin is rested he will prepare his spells for the day. (list of spells to come later)

Brahmah
Monday May 30th, 2005 3:21:49 AM

Brahmah nods to Solgrin to let him know he heard.

OOC: Jim, I'm going to assume, now that the combat is over, you'll allow us to activate our purchases we made prior to combat?

Zeoll
Monday May 30th, 2005 9:59:15 AM

Well, lacking any way to speak with the creatures he has summoned and charmed, Zeoll figures there is just one thing to do.

"Follow me!" he calls out to his wolves and songbirds!

The liontaur sets off running, avoiding the entangling vines, as fast as he can. He runs around the entire village, maybe several times. He waits to see if the wolves follow, and if they disappear after three rounds, as they are supposed to.

Kale
Monday May 30th, 2005 11:03:30 AM

not finding anything of note, Kale returns the the hut where he and Brahmah and Leets were attacked and looks to see how badly damaged the hut is.

Flat-top
Monday May 30th, 2005 2:01:13 PM

Flat-top returns to the head leader Horencio and the other Counsil members, "I wonder is I can have one of you to tell me as to what kind of bush is in back of the Counsel's tree?" Flat-top point to the back of the bid tree.

Gecktar
Monday May 30th, 2005 3:01:00 PM

Gecktar lead the ceremony and asks Gargul to welcome these new souls. He also asks Domi to join Mother Wold and bless the village.

Toros
Monday May 30th, 2005 7:16:44 PM

Leaving the vine woods as they are Toros goes near the Cauldron and tries a bit himself the smell and taste of this strange liquid inside the metalic container. He will be happy to accompany this drink with some nice food to eat. In fact he realizes that he has got hungry already!

A New Power. (DM Jim)
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 12:20:49 AM

The Hamlet

Flat-top is able to avoid the plants once again and calls out for Kanchana to tell him about them, not knowing that she is not here anymore. He then goes into the council tree to inquire if Horatio knows anything about them.

Solgrin wanders off to study his spellbook but lets Brahmah know before he does. He finds that he is left alone even by the villagers that are curious, especially the kids.

Zeoll runs a circuit around the hamlett, checking things out. His songbirds and wolves follow him dutifully as if waiting for him to give them orders. Still when time is up on his spells he finds that the wolves do not disappear as they should, in fact they hang around for almost three times as long as they should. Finally they do disappear and the songbirds return to gathering seeds to eat.

Gecktar joins in the prays that are given to Domi and to Mother Wold though he feels a little uneasy with the last. She is not really a deity persay, but the Wold herself and that leaves him kind of feeling weird. Still he figures that not all follow the gods exactly, druids would seem to think of a motherly figure in the Wold itself.

Toros finds that the sappy type substance in the cauldron has warmed a little in the sun. He has not drank a whole lot of it when he feels a kick (Fortitude 20 or be drunk). Things seem to fall out of focus for a few minutes but the villagers seem to not care, maybe this is what is done with what is left.

The Hut

Amada looks to Kanchana and smiles. "Yes this sword...if what I think it is will be very important...the fact..." She breaks off as she hears a pounding on her front door and her brows furrow. "I do believe that is a couple of your friends...the one called Brahmah and Kale if I am not mistaken." Her mouth twists as she makes no move to go back inside to the door and greet them. "We will talk of the sword in a day...you have other things to see to at this time." She smiles what would be considered a motherly smiles as she leads Kanchana out to the manicured spot in her garden. "You will need to stand here and drink that potion...a tree for the whole day you will become and much knowledge will you gain during your transformation." She waits for Kanchana to fully turn into a tree before she makes her way back inside the house and to the door.

Kale looks inside the hut and finds that it has been cleaned as best as it could be. The floor is partly missing and things are still black from the explosion but some order has been restored. All of this he is able to gain from one of the windows.

Brahmah finds the door is not locked but does not open it but pounds on it instead. He finds himself still standing at the door some twenty minutes later when it finally opens. He sees much of the same stuff that Kale has witnessed inside.

Amada stands in the doorway a frown upon her face as she stares at the two males. "Yes." You hear no aggitation in her voice but maybe a little minor annoyance as if she had been doing something important. She holds the sword that Kanchana had picked up way back or at least it seems that way now. "Can I do something for the two of you?" Kanchana is nowhere to be seen unless she is outback of the hut in the garden or the like.

Brahmah
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 6:21:43 AM

The ranger holds out the wooden falchion and looks at the druid.
"Sorry to bother you.... I know you both have important things to attend to..." He looks over her shoulder at Kanchana. "... but, it should only take a moment.
When I was covering the retreat of your hut, just before I entered the portal, I saw this silver longsword... well, now its a falchion. But it was on the floor near the portal. I picked it up thinking, since I had no silver to fight the beasts..." He pauses, realizing he might be being rude. "...the lycans, I would pick it up and use it until I could return it to you or its owner. Then it shape shifted into a silver falcion as I was fighting and when I set it down after the fight, it immediately became wooden and has since stayed that way.
I was wondering, is it yours? And if not, why would something with these properties be on your... property?" He makes a confused face.

Brahmah  d20+5=9 d20+12=17

OOC: Forgot sense motive and spot against the centaur female.... 9 and 17 respectively.

Kale
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 9:23:02 AM

"Nothing really." Kale says to Amanda. "I was just seeing if your hut was still standing." then, not really wanting to get into a conversation with her, Kale leaves and just wanders around a bit.

Kanchana
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 10:33:18 AM

Kanchana didn't even realize that she had handed Amada the sword!

Still the druidess will be happy to finally, hopefully get some answers about the sword she didn't really want and cannot effectively use herself.

Kanchana goes to the patch of manicured lawn, makes herself comfortable and was just about to begin meditating before drinking the potion when Brahmah and Kale show up.

The druidess is practically drunk on the elation that she might at last achieve her only personal dream, the fact that Nature seems rejuvinated and empowered only makes it all more "heady". She barely notes her two companions presence.

She quaffs the bittersweet, earthy tasting potion.

Kanchana would probably have offered a brief nod and smile to Brahmah and Kale thus recognizing their presence here at the hut, if she hadn't already been busy mediating and assuming the shape of a massive, yet graceful willow tree.

The druidess lets herself be completely one with the flow of Nature's energies and the tree's natural and intimate connection to the essence and strength of the Wold herself. Kanchana feels herself drifting, afloat on the warm embrace of Mother Wold's love and oneness; yet also lost in all the of the multi-hued rivulets of the plants' life-forces as they flow to and from the larger streams of life-energies.

Kanchana sees both the under-currents of life energy and much of what transpires around her in the physical wold at the same time.

And the voices! All of the different voices that are singing and whispering; speaking of secrets and truths most will never be able to hear and understand...

This feels like home.

Flat-top
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 2:11:26 PM

Flat-top want to know about those bushes, but every one is at the funeral pyre, So Flat-top will go with them.

Gecktar
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 3:44:09 PM

Now that the prayers have been said, this is time to clean the area and continue the different tasks of the life.
Thinking about that he feels his stomac empty and groaning like a monster. He comes near Flat-Top and says "Hey friend, aren't you hungry ? My stomac is empty and it wants to be filled. I will fall down in the next few minutes if I don't get something to eat. Have you an idea where we could have a meal ?"

Solgrin
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 5:17:55 PM

Once Solgrin has finished his resting and studying of his spellbooks, Solgrin will cast Read Magic then review the scrolls that were found.

Toros  d20=9
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 6:51:34 PM

Waow, this is strong, but it is better if it does not wait under the sun. Unfortunately, Toros does not get drunk from what he has drunk. (Fort, 9+12, 21) Now feeling more hungry, Toros joins Gecktar for his quest for food.

Zeoll
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 6:52:53 PM

After running in circles, Zeoll sees that his Crocodile has gotten tired out chasing him as well.

"My frriend," Zeoll says to his animal companion, "I have tirred you out. You have fought well at my side. I think you deserrve a rrest."

As soon as Zeoll finds a place where he thinks Croc will be happy, he will release his friend from service and give him his liberty.

Do You Like Peace? (DM Jim)
Tuesday May 31st, 2005 10:36:21 PM

The Hamlet

Flat-top wanders into the council tree where the bodies are being prepared. He watches what is going on with some interest for a time then gives up on it.

Gecktar comes to Flat-top and complains about his stomache being empty and needing some food. He inquires of Flat-top is hungry and where he thinks they could find some food.

Solgrin pours himself into the scrolls and the last few potions with gusto. He is soon happy to have all the scrolls sorted out and the potions as well. *thank Cayzle for going ahead and taking care of this for the loot division*

Toros is able to shake of the effects of the sappy brew but finds it good, though a little warm. He is also starting to feel hungry, especially after having that nice drink. He goes off in search of food or the others to see if they have found food.

Zeoll is ashamed to say that he forgot about his croc that had been chasing after him all this time. He finds a nice pond that the croc can relax in but he gets the feeling that something is not totally alright with him. He senses dark feelings from his companion as if he is being bombarded by his natural urges.

The Hut

Amada glances to the wooden sword in Brahmah's hand and blushes noticable. "That was made for me by my father to play with...though I am not sure why it becomes real once in awhile." She looks to the remains of her floor and shakes her head. "It is a wonder that it survived that explosion." She ushers Brahmah and Kale if she catches him before he wanders off into the hut. She lays the sword that Kanchana had upon one of the tables and goes to a cupboard and lays her hand upon it. "Are you hungry or the like...your druidess will be some time before she joins you again." She pulls out several scrolls and moves to the table to stand unrolling a parchment.

Brahmah is there to inquire about the wooden sword and maybe a little surprised at the attitude that Amada puts on. Still he is able to get his question answered and an invite for food.

Kale excuses himself as he had not really wanted to know anything just see how the hut had held up. He had not been paying too much attention to it as he had fought and then ran through the portal.

Neither Brahmah or Kale can see Kanchana, now or earlier when they came. In fact the only sign that she even made it here is the sword that now lays upon the table.

Kanchana takes the form of the tree really well. She revels in the power that comes flooding into her and at the same time despair and fear. In her minds eye she sees a city being slowly tipped by what would appear to be rosevines, another city is slowly being flooded though she sees people trying to stop it and what must be a past even she sees the birth of a satyr to a halfling woman that grows way too rapidly. There is a fight between this being and another group of halflings that involves many denizens of nature. A feeling of nature going wild fills you up as you watch all these things and though it does make you a little sick it also feels you with exstacy as well. Then there is the flood of knowledge that seems to flow into your head about plants, many things that you did not know and some that you did.

And such is the passing of the first day in the groups vacation from all fighting. It is late the next day when Kanchana finally feels the spell lifting from her and she returns to herself. She will feel a loss but also a great gain as well.

All purchases from before the battle are now open for all to have.

Brahmah
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 9:36:53 AM

"Oh, food?" He scratches his neck and looks away from the centaur. "Thank you, but no. I think you have enough with Kanchana... whatever it is. I hope she is okay though." He turns and wanders away with a nod, leaving the sword with its rightful owner.

He finds a place devoid of humans to think and practice sword moves.

Kale
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 10:47:49 AM

after leaving the hutt, Kale goes back to the funeral pyre and looks to see whats going on.

Flat-top
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 5:36:50 PM

Flat-top Tell Gecktar, "Come with me, we'll ask Kale to come hunting with us to hunt."

The both taurs spots Kale coming to thr funeral, asking him to come along to find some food.

Toros
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 7:12:58 PM

"I am hungry as well, may I join to your quest for food, as well?" asks Toros to his mighty food hunters. The old man had offered some food to us, when we first arrived, but now as he has passed away with many others noone seem to consider this, as they are busy with the funeral and rituals.

Zeoll's Busy Day  d20+13=30 d20+20=40 6d4(2+4+3+4+1+4)=18 d20+11=29
Wednesday June 1st, 2005 9:03:15 PM

Since it is a new day, Zeoll rises with excitement in his heart. He feels the flow of nature, and he is eager to reach out to it in this natural place.

In the morning he pays a visit to Amada and asks how Kanchana is doing. He tries to be friendly to the centaur, and convince her that all wemics are not bad, and that most honor Domi. [Diplomacy check 40! natural 20!]

If it is not forbidden, Zeoll will go stand next to the Kanchana-tree and assume a tree-form himself for a few hours to keep her company. [casts Tree Shape]

Then he goes to visit the twisty vines he saw yesterday. He plays a soothing song to try to calm them -- he uses the slow beat of his drum to quiet them. [Bardic Fascinate ability = will DC = Perform Check = 30]

Then he will touch a vine and shape it into a wreath to wear on his head. [Cast Wood Shape, making an effort to tap into the force of nature he felt yesterday]

He has an idea on a way to enchant this wreath in the near future. [OOC: making mental notes for a visit to the BGC]

Then he will cast three extended Goodberries, in order to replenish his store. [6d4 = 18 berries that last 6 days]

Finally, he will seek out the leaders of the village and offer his condolences. He asks them if they know anything about the strange ways that nature has been behaving lately. [Gather Info check 29]

[OOC: Jim, one final change to Zeol's PC Sheet. He'll take Craft Wonderous Item, not Leadership. I'll send you a revised PC sheet.]

Strange Events. (DM Jim)
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 1:22:02 AM

The Hut

Brahmah bows out gracefully from the offer for lunch from Amada. He figures that she has her hands full with all the stuff that she is helping Kanchana with, whatever that maybe.

Zeoll arrives at the little hut of Amada's early the next morning to find Amada sitting at a table, well actually standing. Her head is laying upon it with scrolls spread out around her and a sword laying near the middle of the table, she is sound asleep. A gentle waking gets a bewildered stare from the centaur. "I am sorry...must have dozed off while doing some research." She hurries up and fixes a quick breakfast of light biscuits, jam, fresh fruit and an assortment of berries and nuts...along with an herbal tea. "Would you like some?" She makes the offer with a smile and it seems that maybe Zeoll has won her over.

After some breakfast and a little time spent chatting, Kanchana the willow finds herself joined by another tree...Zeoll the oak. There is a sudden connection shared between the two that goes beyond what most will experience in a life pairing. It is as if they are now one and the same, yet separate from one another and then whole with nature at the same time. Both find the ebb and flow on natures power as it flows through them to be intoxicating and the tree form is very tempting to keep (will DC 12 or want to change into a tree again when the spell stops). Zeoll finds that his tree shape spells ends exactly when Kanchana's does and it is late in the evening, in fact it is nearing suppertime...now how did that happen. It is so that Zeoll never makes it to the other things that he had planned for that day and he finds that he does not much care.

Amada appears shortly after the tree shape spells end and smiles at both of you with a knowing smile. "Exhililerating isn't it." She smiles some more and offers them supper as they both must be hungry by now. Though the allure of nature may pull them both back in and if it does they find that another tree shape spell is at hand...though neither may have memorized another one.

The Hamlet

Kale finds that the area that is set up for the funeral pyres is now set up with several large palets of wood. He figures that a body will be lais out upon each and then the pyre itself set on fire. Several people from the hamlet seem to be spreading some kind of herb upon the wood as well.

Flat-top catches Kale as he nears the area for the funeral pyre, whick is maybe one hundred yards from the hamlet..which would make sense with the smell. He sees if Kale would like to go hunting with them.

Toros offers to go with Flat-top hunting since he is hungry and it is well into the next day. He was happy yesterday when at last some food was brought out by some of the hamleteers and a big picnic was set up for everyone.

Though it should have been obvious that all the Chosen had to do was ask about food and they would have been provided with it...they do not ask. Still a hunt will keep some of them in shape and that is a good thing...then again whatever they cannot use maybe the hamlet can.

Horatio makes his way over to the Chosen that have come out by the pyres and smiles to them. "You have done our hamlet a great service this day...for that we are all thankful." He stares back at the pyres and shakes his head, then turns back with pleading eyes. "We are wondering when the burning begins if your group would lead the prayers to Domi and Mother Wold...that of course will not be for another day right before sunset." He seems to think this very important to the hamlet and also it appears that it would be an honor as well.

Cayzle - I will look for the update CS. There were a few things that impeded the rest of what you wanted to do in your post, hope you do not mind. You will also note that there is still time. :)

Ceil - This should have been a Wednesday post but got hung up with some personal business involving my grandmother...sorry to all of you for that.

Gecktar
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 3:21:27 AM

Gecktar happily comes with Flat-top to hunt and so have fresh meat to heat. But Flat-top and Kale rapidly realize that Gecktar is not a so good hunter, making much noise when approching the prey and unable to hide, not talking about is bow shots ...

If he ever should hunt alone they realize that he will certainly die of starvation....

Gecktar post for tuesday
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 3:28:01 AM

As soon as they had time to rest and pray Gecktar wll memorize cure spells to cure all chosen of eventual diseases.
I should have began by Zeoll but he is unable to catch him so he will begin by his two hunting companions Kale and Flat-Top. Other will have to wait one or more day.

Zeoll  d20+9=15
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 6:01:28 AM

In tree shape, Oak-Zeoll offers Willow-Kanchana his deep glad wishes. May your roots drink deep of the love of the Wold! May your branches reach to the sky as Domi reaches out to those who need him.

Zeoll feels the temptation to stay a tree, but knows that he has other things to do (Will save 15). But, huh! The day has advanced farther than he has expected!

But with luck, the liontaur will have time to visit the twisty vines. [copy and paste from yesterday] So he goes to visit the twisty vines he saw yesterday. He plays a soothing song to try to calm them -- he uses the slow beat of his drum to quiet them. [Bardic Fascinate ability = will DC = Perform Check = 30]

Then he will touch a vine and shape it into a wreath to wear on his head. [Cast Wood Shape, making an effort to tap into the force of nature he felt yesterday.] He has an idea on a way to enchant this wreath in the near future. [OOC: making mental notes for a visit to the BGC]

[If he has time in the day, Zeoll will cast his three extended goodberries as well.]

Kale
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 6:52:19 AM

Kale goes hunting with the others, but his heart isnt really into it. he seems distracted by his thoughts and isnt really paying attention to what is going on.

Solgrin
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 7:08:04 AM

Solgrin when finished looking over the spells he will then roll them back up and place themin a pile then Solgrin will look at Rozca and say "well Rozca, should I keep hold of the scrolls or not?" With that Solgrin then starts muttering to himself 'what is it that the Chosen want of me? Domi how am I to help them?' Solgrin looks for the younger council member and asks her "is there some place where I can make a few practice swings with my chain here and not risk anything or anyone's safety?"
Solgrin will then head over to where she tells him and practice with his spiked chain for around 1-2 hours giving himself a good workout.

When Solgrin if finsihed he will go find somebody from the village and see if there is a pond or stream near that he can go cleanup at.

OOC: sorry for missing my post yesterday.

Brahmah
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 9:54:16 AM

Brahmah tries to find his wayward Pah'caw and then treat her to some feeding and scratching under the winds.

He is happy to see her.

The rest of the day is spent hunting for the hamlet, as a thank you. He hunts mainly boar and game birds.

He doesn't do much in the way of Chosen' duties, but he thinks about combat teamwork and what ways the group can use their collective skills.

Flat-top
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 11:54:36 AM

As Flat-top gathers Wild wheat, witd rice, wild oats, for desert apples, pears and a fuzzie friut that had fuzz all over it. Flat-top takes a test bite, the fruit os very good. "Hmmm! I think I'll call this fruit Golden Peach." Here Kale have a new fruit, don't be bullheaded, it is very good!"
Flat-top turn to Gecktar, "My Friends Minotaurs, You cannot to hunting in the woods stumping the ground with your heavy hooves. Your scaring the game away. In fact Getcktar, remember the rabbit you were aiming at? well if you go behind that tree over there (Flat-top points to a tree, and yes the turkey was up in that tree) You'll see the turkey with your arrow in it! Now let's go back and cook all this stuff!"

Kanchana  d20+10=30
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 2:22:26 PM

Part 1:

Kanchana would have paid close attention to all she can learn about plants, trees, roots and their uses. She would also pay close attention to the city being attacked by over large rose bushes, the feelings of Nature going wild has a more deep effect on the wemic druidess; the events involving bipeds (halflings and nature creatures) she doesn't dwell on - she is now seeking to understand growing things better not societies and conflicts.
Kanchana-willow will share the feelings of onesness and Mother Wold's love that she first felt when Zeoll-oak communes with her and with Nature itself.

Part 2:

Kanchana-willow fairly radiates pleasure and contenment as Zeoll-oak sends her his glad wishes.

Kanchana returns to her regular form and feels excited, energized and rested all at once. She smiles widely to Zeoll before he leaves to go do his tasks.
"Thank you for joining me Zeoll. That meant more to me than you may guess!"

Kanchana easily overwins the temptation to assume tree shape again so soon (will 30; nat 20). Though she will certainly take tree shape again in the not too distant future.

Kanchana turns to face Amada and is still smiling, "yes that was beyond exhilerating! There was so much to see and learn; and I have not even learned near as much as I would have liked to!"

Kanchana's stomach growls and rumbles, so when Amada offers her dinner she thanks the centaur warmly and helps herself to some food.

"Amada, what do you know of Green Mages? Are you one? Do they have a Circle near here or on the Taur Isles?"

Some how Kanchana manages not to speak with food in her mouth!

After cleaning up the dishes and thanking Amada for the meal Kanchana retrieves her gear and lets poor Ilder out to "play".

Kanchana will take the black sword as well.
"Do you know anything about this "hunk of junk"?" Kanchana motions to the sword she is strapping to her pack again with a nod of her head.

Kanchana will spend the rest of the day talking with Amada unless Amada does not want to talk of course!
During the evening Kanchana will reflect over what she has just experienced and all that she has seen, felt and learned.

(If the tree shape is in a potion or a scroll Kanchana will gladly accept them if Amada offers them to her.)

Toros
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 6:20:26 PM

Remembering the initial difficulty they have when they first come to the Hamlet, Toros cannot help but have mixed feelings to realize that what happened last night is over and the life in Hamlet is getting ready to resume its normal routine. He knows people do not change easily, or sometimes they do change too easily, and humans like young Horatio make the picture more complex, giving him enough reason to get worried and sceptical again. Perhaps he and other Chosen is just an unbearable burden for the Hamlet, which is hidden behind all these sweet, appreciative and respectful words.

And So the Wold Turns. (DM Jim)
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 9:37:05 PM

The Hut

Kanchana reflects upon all she has seen and though the conflict with the halflings seems trivial she seems to come back to it again...that satyr seems to draw her attention. She thanks Zeoll...not sure if he realizes what it is that he just gave her by rooting that last bit of the day with her. At last she is able to talk to Amada but finds herself ravinous with hunger. As she eats she asks questions of Amada, though she somehow keeps her manners and not spit food.

Zeoll seems unable to do anymore than smiles and nod. He cannot find words at this time to express what he experienced with Kanchana and does not want to say something stupid. As he leaves he is still smiling and finds his way back to the hamlet. He sings his heart out to the vines and when he approaches he finds that they do not move...till he reaches out to them then they seems to lunge at him with one intention, capture and drink (reflex DC 16 or be caught in their grasp). If he escapes the vines then he goes about the business of creating goodberries...though as he casts the spell he finds that twenty five berries that hold the spell.

Amada smiles as she leads Kanchana back into the hut and puts food before her. She sits for a centaur and then listens as Kanchana talks, keeping quiet till she is done. "Yes I am a GreenMage and now you are one as well...you must feel the blessing of Mother Wold upon you now...the call of plants and the urge to join them again." Her face takes on a sad look as she shakes her head. "There are no circles around here that I know of...in fact the man that inducted me is now dead...his friend lead you here." A single tear runs down her face that she wipes away in a hurry. "He once told me that there is one near Plateau City...in the forest there I think it was." She seems to know little about the location of circles. "I am not sure that Harth new of many of them himself...I am thinking that our kind are very few in fact." With a look of surprise she shakes her head and then points to the sword. "That hunk of junk is actually an artifact of no little power...in fact it saved the Wold once before with the last conjunction and then was lost. Legend says that a Fae will appear once again and bring what appears to be peace to the Wold...defeating evil and bringing about a golden age of nature and elves." Her eyes narrow slightly as she grasps Kanchana's eyes with her own. "You know what you saw when immersed in the Wold...when you were one with Mother Wold. This is not natural...nature does not do these types of things...this kind of destruction is not of her doing." With a shake of her head she closes her eyes and picks up a scroll that she hands to Kanchana. "Your young bard that was here may remember some legends of the last Convergence...ask him and read that when you can....maybe you will understand things as I do." She looks back to the sword and then shudders as she thinks of what this can mean.

Scroll reads as follows:

The sword of elven war
To right will nature restore
Dark force of nature can destroy
Brought to power with song of fae
Return the blade of iron cold

Blade of leaf and tree
Once plunged Darkness into Light
Other items of old
The blade to help make them whole

The Hamlet

Gecktar comes with the rest to hunt but finds himself not good for the task. Still he soon finds that he did get something.

Flat-top points out that Gecktar is a little noisy but that he had a lucky shot as a turkey falls from a tree.

Kale is not into the hunt at all as his mind wanders. He does not even really try his hand at hunting.

Solgrin is pointed to an open area to the side of the hamlet, inside the walls. It seems that this was a field at one time but the crop has been harvested. He soon has an audience of hamlet kids watching him with ooohs and aaaaahs.

Brahmah ponders what to do with the group and how they can work more in concert. He absently scratches Paw'cah and feeds her some treats. Despite all his thoughts he is comforted by his companions presence and does still pay a lot of attention to her.

Toros worries and broods over the hamlet and does not seem to realize that life must go on. He does feel a little suspicious about the people that live here. What is it that these people are doing...do they really want the Chosen here or is it all a farce.

Those that are payng attention will notice that one of the moons has not set. To make matters worse it is black...as black as a starless night with no light at all. Something is really wrong here.

The hunters are somewhere near three hundred yards from the hamlet with in the sparse trees that surround the area. They cannot really see the hamlet anymore and that is ok as they know which way it is that they must travel. As they turn to go back with the turkey that they got the are greeted by a very strange and disturbing sight. Off in the distance is a large brown bear that is running as if being chased by something. He is being followed by six little white bunny rabbits...or at least that is what you though till you see the rabbits swarm over the bear. It roars in rage and then is soon not moving anymore as the rabbits seem to be feeding upon it. Suddenly the area you are in seems to turn very cold and a shiver runs down all three taurs' backs. The hairs on the back of your necks' are standing on end as well.

Zeoll  d20+4=9 d20+7=11 d20+7=19
Thursday June 2nd, 2005 11:21:32 PM

Zeoll tries to evade the wriggly vines -- and fails! Although entangled, he still tries to cast his Wood Shape spell [Concentration check 11] but that fails, too. Desperate, he tries to cast Entangle, forcing the vines to turn on themselves [Concentration check 19 may be good enough?]

If all else fails, he will shout out in a trained bard's voice, "Help! Help! Help! I am rrooted! And not in the good way!"

Toros
Friday June 3rd, 2005 3:58:24 AM

Refreshed and relaxed Toros thanks to Domi for all he has given to the Chosen and prepares his spells for the day.

When he hears the help of Zeoll Toros is collecting totems for his totem bag. He runs to his friend as fast as he can. If he is in a position to cast spells Toros will use his Sanctuary spell with a hope to stop the attack of the monster plant. He is also afraid of being caught by the vine woods - he will try to stay out of their reach, while he tries to use his 10ft reach to touch Zeoll.

Kale
Friday June 3rd, 2005 6:58:17 AM

"I think we better get back." Kale says to the others as he draws his bow and takes a bead on the rabbits. "I dont want to be dinner to a bunch of rabbits."

Flat-top
Friday June 3rd, 2005 7:53:18 AM

Flat-top look toward the little bunnies who are tearing this bear apart, tell Kale "No! Guennah! Kale. I never seen anything like this before!"
Flat-top drops the food he was gathering, then takes his Morningstar from arround his neck, "Gecktar! start backing up and we'll go back to the village. It's pretty dark about now, but if those bunnies should turn on us! Throw them the turkey! Now! Lets! RUN!"

Brahmah
Friday June 3rd, 2005 9:47:03 AM

Brahmah, never really the one for word in strange situations, hurtles off toward the bunnies and bear, drawing his swords as he runs.

He wants to help the bear.

He commands Pah'caw to hunt bunny.

Gecktar
Friday June 3rd, 2005 12:27:54 PM

Gecktar feels very unconfortable about the sight of the bunnies...
Then he hears Flat-top urging him to run and start to move as fast as he can.

Solgrin
Friday June 3rd, 2005 6:07:33 PM

Finishing up with his workout with the spiked chain Solgrin then gets cleaned up and heads off to see if he can find the younger council member. When Solgrin finds her he will ask "we are not an imposition on the hamlett I hope?"

Kanchana
Sunday June 5th, 2005 4:33:02 PM

Kanchana will dutifully copy down everything Amada says about the sword and it's history; and everything said about the fae. Kanchana will pocket the scroll for Zeoll, Solgrin and any other interested Chosen to look at later.

"I finally feel whole. All of Mother Wold's earth-bound children feel like a part of me and myself a part of them. I do look forward to communing with them again soon! If I find any Circles I will send you a letter about them, and you and I will have our own Circle now I would think?"

Kanchana takes a long sip of tea.

"You say that terrible sword is an artifact?!" Kanchana's eyes go wide.
"Why did I end up with it? I cannot even use it, and nothing and no one has even said who should have it... What precisely does this sword really mean, Amada?"

Kanchana studies Amada's face and posture to try and get an understanding of what she is feeling, "I should let you know that I never take a life wantonly. If this sword is meant to be the thing to murder some one; some fae or whatever, then I will not be the one to wield it."

Kanchana waits patiently for Amada's reply to what she has said.)

(Of course Kanchana will act in defense of herself or any other Chosen; even to the point of taking a life, but she will never instigate any attack.)

((James is the nearest neighbouring town Antioch by chance??))

Zeoll  d20+8=27 d20+11=24
Monday June 6th, 2005 8:58:21 AM

Zeoll continues to struggle with the vines, talking to them in Druidic.

"Oh, you silly plants! I am yourr frriend! I am a drruid, who loves all grrowing things! Why oh why do you attack me? Orr if you arre just giving me a hug, then please be morre gentle! Ouch! No, I said morre gentle!"

[Wild empathy check 27?]

"Maybe you just want to hearr a lullaby?"

The liontaur sings in Druidic:

Oh gentle rroots and peaceful stems
Please be at ease, and go to sleep.
Forr rrudeness all the Wold condemns
So quiet vines, and cease yourr crreep.

Strange Events. (DM Jim)  d6=4

The Hut

Kanchana questions Amada upon the sword further as she packs away and makes records off all that is said to her. She silently wishes that this sword had not come to her but it must be for a reason.

Amada smiles and shakes her head. "If I was to guess then the sword most likely came to you so that it could find it's true wielder or to get to someone that can use it." With a look of great concentration she ponders the question. "I think you will find what you seek for the sword in Plateau City and if not then the Gold Dragons live there and they can help you out...maybe it is to go to them." With a bigger smile she laughs lightly and then nods. "Please..if you do ever find another circle please let me know." She reaches out and gently touches the face of Kanchana but there seems to be more of a touch to her heart from Amada. "You are my sister now and I would be honored to be part of a circle with you...maybe you can also make that young liontaur that came to see you an honorary member." She sips her tea as she closes her eyes and smiles.

With a sadder look she shakes her head. "I believe from what I have been feeling...this sleeper...this fae is not what the Wold is needing...there is an undercurrent of evil in the way nature has been acting." She shakes her head not able to explain it better than that.

The Hamlet

Those that had been hunting take off at a dead run with the bunnies that attack the bear. Much to their dismay, Brahmah comes running past them heading for the bears defense.

Brahmah reaches the bear and the rabbits have backed off about thirty feet. They hiss at him, blood covering thier little mouths. The bear has been ripped to pieces in places and is beyond hope of survival.

Solgrin finds the youngest council member and questions her. He wants to find out if the Chosen are in the way or a burden upon the hamlet.

Zeoll is caught within the grasp of the vines, screaming for help. He tries to talk them out of what they are doing and it does not seem to be working. He has a hard time singing as he feels thorns dig into his body and little rivlets of blood run down his body (4 blood loss damage, reflex DC 20 to escape).

The yongest council member looks to Solgrin and smiles. "No...in fact if it would not have been for your presence here.." She shudders as the image courses through her mind. "We would have all been dead....or worse slaves." She looks to Solgrin who does not feel any lies from her, in fact she seems totally honest. "You actually honor use with your presence."

[Plateau City is the closest place Kanchana.]

Gecktar
Tuesday June 7th, 2005 3:32:30 AM

Gecktar comes back to the hamlet. There are strange things operating around here... And he sees Zeoll imprisonned by the vines.

"Hey ! Zeoll's needing help ! Come on !" he cries to the other. He goes to the large tree where they have seen pole arm and then cme ack to Zeoll handing him the shaft to help him to get out this situation without exposing himself.

Zeoll yelps as the vines rip at him. He convulses in an attempt to escape, but to no avail!

He uses his Pearl of Power to call back the Tree Shape spell he cast earlier in the day. Then he tries to cast it. The vines distract him, but not quite enough to keep him from casting the spell [Concentration check 17 is exactly equal to 15+spell level].

As he casts the spell and changes into an oak tree, Zeoll thinks, "I hope these vines do not hate trees, too."

Kanchana
Tuesday June 7th, 2005 3:18:44 PM

"Sister, I will try to visit again in more peaceful times and then we must bring new life and spirit to our little Circle. Now I fear that both Mother Wold and Father Tomi have other plans for the Chosen and myself."

Kanchana smiles at Amada, though her body language belies that the newly initiated green mage is not too pleased to have to be leaving so soon.

"I must confer with my fellow Chosen on the matter of this strange artifact that I have been burdened with for longer than I care to think about."

Kanchana finishes her tea.

"If we are going to this Plateau City then I will try to find out more on who if this sword belongs to, if not then who ever owns this mystery sword will just have to find me - and I hope that they are friendly towards Taurs!"

Kanchana makes ready to rejoin the rest of the Chosen.

"I thank you with all my heart for helping me my Sister. May our paths cross again soon and in more peaceful times."

Kanchana gives Amada a big, heartfelt hug before returning to the fort. Kanchana will head back to the fort at a flat out run.

***********************************************

If Kanchana gets back to the fort before Zeoll gets untangled she will use her newly aquired ability to speak with plants to request that the vines let Zeoll go. Kanchana will be standing just out of the vines' grasping range as she talks to them. (Green Mage ability Speak with Plants (at will)).

Solgrin tells the younger council member "Thank you for your kind acceptance of the Chosen. I must be going now, it seems that one of us has gotten attacked."

The Strange and the Weird. (DM Jim)
Tuesday June 7th, 2005 10:30:42 PM

The Hut

Amada returns the hug with muck appreciation. "We will be together always sister." She waves to Kanchana as she leaves the hut and then closes the door. She returns to her work to clean up the damage to her hut and to think over the council's proposal.

The Hamlet

Zeoll is trapped within the grasp of the vines and feels the vines sucking the very blood from his body. It is only with difficulty that he is able to take on the form of a tree, the same oak that he became with Kanchana earlier.

Gecktar makes it to the hamlet and finds that things are no better here. He takes the halbred that he owns and holds out the shaft of it to Zeoll to try and pull himself free but Zeoll has become a tree.

Rozcz relays the message that the one of the Chosen is in trouble and then falls back to sleep.

Croc makes no move to leave his new little woman. His master has released him from service and he no longers feel the great urge to protect him. Though his mating instincts seem to be well and working overtime about now. The female looks more than willing and impressed with Croc.

Kanchana makes it back to the hamlet to find a tree being entwined by some of those vines from earlier. She is not sure what is going on and she does not remember a tree there when she left. In fact that tree looks familiar to her, but more than that it feels familiar (wis DC 10 to recognize Zeoll in tree shape).

Solgrin comes out and looks to Gecktar and ponder how they will get Zeoll out of there and the fact that he is now a tree will make it harder. He does get Gecktar ready to heal Zeoll as soon as they can get him out.

Toros watches in horror and then also ponders what to do for Zeoll. He is a tree now and how can they move a tree?

Three Hundred Yards from the Hamlet

Brahmah is watching the rabbits with interest as he cannot see Zeoll. He does get the sense that something is wrong back at the hamlet and that it has to do with one of the Chosen.

Flat-top comes back to help out his captain but the rabbits are some thirty feet away watching them with some interest. They do not appear to be rabid but that is what Flat-top suspects.

Kale fires off an arrow at the rabbits. He strike one of them but it does not fall or even seem to care much.

The other five rabbits turn upon the injured one and are soon mauling him. It is apparent that something is not right here. What is up with nature?

Paw'caw cirlces the area above her masters head but makes no moves upon the rabbits. In fact she has the strange feeling that she wants to fly away and start a family but fights off the urge.

Sorry for the confusion. I have tried to clear that up with breaking the group up into the areas that each are in. Hope that helps out.

Zeoll Oaken-Head
Wednesday June 8th, 2005 1:01:58 AM

Zeoll waves his branches -- or is it just the wind?

But he has the senses of a liontaur (per the spell, can still perceive the world around).

So he knows that Kanchana is near. Kanchana, who can talk with plants! Oaken-Zeoll calls out to her, Highlight to display spoiler: {Hi! It's me! I turned into a tree to escape these vines that were strangling me. Maybe you could persuade them to be nice? Then I could change back to normal and walk out of the thicket? Thanks!}

Zeoll wonders how he got himself into this mess. Oh yeah! He had wanted a sample of vines for an experiment. Maybe Kanchana can convince them to surrender a sprig or vinelet?

Gecktar
Wednesday June 8th, 2005 2:46:47 AM

Gecktar looks at Zeoll amazingly seeing him changing shape. With his halberd in his hands, he is now of no need to Zeoll. But Kanchana is coming back from Amad's hut.

"Hey ! Kanchana, there is a problem with Zeoll. He has being entangled with those vines and, to escape their wrath, he takes the shape of this oak. Can you do something ?"

Toros
Wednesday June 8th, 2005 3:53:03 AM

Toros does not know whether he can hear but still concerned, asks, "Zeoll, are you allright?" Then waits to see what will happen next still without knowing what to do.

And You are the only one to hit a rabbitt with an arrow? Croc lumbers along the trail, BUT all of a sudden he does know why he is leaving the little lake. He looks back into the waters, he sees those beautiful yellow eyes.

He turn back and enters the lake, swins to the beauty asking her, 'GRRR! Hiss!' meaning 'Miss Me Baby?' Off the swim together in to deeper waters.

Brahmah
Wednesday June 8th, 2005 8:40:21 AM

Brahmah turns to get back with the majority of the Chosen.
"Geez, nature is crazy. We need to get our friends out of tree form before they wanna stay that way. I agree with Kale 'that we need to leave!' and very soon.

I think the dominant creatures have switched roles with the prey. Its very odd to see herbivores turn into carnivores, especially rabbits.

Maybe the werewolves had something to do with it. Or maybe something is in the water?

Who knows?! No one eat or drink anything from around here, survive on your rations.

Pah'caw! Damned bird. Hey, Pah'c..." He just shakes his head. "She'll come around later.

We need to figure this out before the animals start eating and drinking."

Solgrin waits to see what Kanchana has any effect on the vines around Zeoll.

Of Oaks and Vines. (DM Jim)
Wednesday June 8th, 2005 11:26:43 PM

Oak-Zeoll calls out to Kanchana as she enters the hamlet and draws near. He seeks her help in getting out of the situation that he has gotten into.

Gecktar withdraws his halberd not sure how to help out now. He does spot Kanchana and starts to tell her about Zeoll and how her was attacked. He does not know that Oak-Zeoll is already explaining to her as well.

Toros shows his concern as he speaks to Oak-Zeoll, trying to find out if he is ok or not. He is not sure if the tree can hear him but it is worth a try.

Kale takes off at a run to get back to the hamlet. He does not like the idea that nature is on it head and all. This is all just turning so strange.

Flat-top voices his own concerns as the rush back to the hamlet. He cannot figure out anymore of this mess or mystery than the rest. Maybe a drink will help out in that situation or at least take his mind off it.

Brahmah calls for his eagle to find her not there. He gets a sense that she is nesting and most likely going to seek a mate very soon. If he figures out who has done this he will most likely smack them around, nature is not right and that grates heavily on his ranger senses.

Solgrin holds his position to see what Kanchana maybe able to do for Zeoll. He does know that most of what he could do now would most likely injure Zeoll.

Kanchana gets close enough to call out to the vines in a very strange language. She has ignored everyone but Oak-Zeoll who she also speaks to. The vines talk back to Kanchana with abstract thoughts and pictures mainly. The jist is as follows: We are granted blood...take back to nature...kill opposition...the king has returned and we rule once again.

Paw'caw has started to build a nest when her other instincts take over. She suddenly realizes that she cannot take the nest with her, unless her master will carry it for her...maybe he could even take care of the future eggs. She feels a need to at least ask him this if she can find a way to communicate with him.

Ilder is chasing after his mistress who took off without him. Luckily she does notice before he is left too far behind and put back into his pouch.

Rozca sleeps on as she needs her beauty rest and there is nothing she can do right now.

Just so everyone knows...Zeoll has released his crocodile from his service, unless he changes his mind as he changed his mind on feats. Cayzle??

Zeoll
Wednesday June 8th, 2005 11:58:15 PM

Zeoll hangs tight as Kanchana talks to the vines. He's in no hurry, since the vines are not hurting any more.

[OOC: Yup, let Croc go! He served well and earned his lady-friend!]

Kanchana  d20+4=19
Thursday June 9th, 2005 12:19:32 AM

Kanchana calmly tells the blood-sucking vines, "the "king" lied to you. He seeks to enslave you not let you rule. When you with your great strength become a threat to him he will destroy you, the Earth Mother Herself has warnrd against it. Let my Brother go and we will help protect you from this false king."

Kanchana will not even attempt to ask for any twigs or parrings from the vine until Zeoll (and anyone else) are safe from it!

Kanchana will tell oak-Zeoll, "I am doing what I can to get the vine to release you and leave you be, Brother."

Kanchana did recognize Zeoll even in oak form (wis 19).

((I am putting Kanchana's "plant-speak" in italics in case no one else but plants can understand it.))

Flat-top
Thursday June 9th, 2005 6:36:21 AM

Flat-top enters the compound at a full gallop, he even beats Kale but not by much. Flat-top looking for the rest of the Chosen when some citizen points to the other side of the main tree.
Flat-top clops over the the others, asking "What going on?" Then he see Kanchana talking to the Vines?? "Kitten! Don't touch those plants! They'll try to drag you in there. They almost grab me a little while ago."

Flat-top look around, then ask "Where's Zeoll?" Things are getting a little too much for him, so he ask any one in the party "Does anybody have a cup? I want some of that Golden liquid in the Black Cauldrom."

Paw'caw(ceil)
Thursday June 9th, 2005 6:52:10 AM

Paw'caw has in her talongs some moss and a couple of twigs. Now she think of how to transport her futer eggs?? She must make her master understand that nature must be obayed!

She takes to the sky, high above the ground. there she spots her master. Down she goes and land on his shoulder. She give him the twigs and moss, she turns her back to peck at his back pack?? She trying to tell him something??

She pick up her supplies, then aranges the twigs and moss in his back pack. She turns, giving him a look in his eyes (looking for his OK?)

Toros
Thursday June 9th, 2005 9:07:13 AM

Toros thinks to offer some dry fruits to the vine woods with a hope that they will understand the Chosen are not bad at all and respect nature. Then he gives up this thought as the vine woods may find it insulting, as the fruit is from nature as well and when they are dried, actually they are picked up and left to death. So, still he waits and watch quietly, knowing that Zeoll is safe at least for now. Afterall it cannot be worse than that, right?

Solgrin
Thursday June 9th, 2005 5:37:02 PM

Solgrin continues to wait and see if Kanchana is able to help Zeoll out.

Of Oaks and Vines, I. (DM Jim)
Friday June 10th, 2005 1:03:07 AM

Zeoll hangs out and waits as Kanchana talks to the vines. He just hopes that they will let him go.

Kanchana pleads with the vines to let her friend go. She tells them that this king is lying to them. Nature would not have them doing this and that they will in turn be killed by this king. She speaks to Zeoll as well, letting him know that she is doing her best to get him let go.

Gecktar waits and trusts that Kanchana can take care of the situation.

Brahmah comes into the hamlet and finds a tree trapped by the vines. Kanchana seems to be talking to both the vines and the tree. He soon finds out that the tree is Zeoll, protecting himself from the vines.

Flat-top comes into the hamlet and makes it over to the vines where everyone is now standing. He warns Kanchana of the vines and that they had tried to grab him earlier. Still he looks for a cup or something to get a drink from that cauldron.

Kale stops with the rest to find out what is to be done next. It seems that they will most likely be needing to move on soon or so he thinks.

Toros was going to offer dried fruit to the vines but decides that this might offend them and that could turn out worse in the longrun. He figures that it cannot get worse or at least he hopes that it will not get worse.

Solgrin continues to watch and wait as he wonders what will happen next. Well at least things are interesting, he will not lack for entertainment right now anyways.

Paw'caw comes to Brahmah with some of the stuff that she needs to make a nest. She places it in Brahmah's backpack or at least on top of it. She seems to be trying to get an idea across to him.

Rozca finds that she is dreaming of being a real dragon. Mother Wold has sent her a nice little dream that fills her with longing and also a thrill with her newfound powers...at least in her dreams.

Ilder finds himself fast falling asleep in his little nest pouch. He dreams of nothing but his next meal and love from his mother.

The vines seem to pay attention to Kanchana, though they do not let go. "Fae King gives us power...he lets us free of our prison. If what you say is true then why did Mother lock us away...why did she not let us do waht it is that we are born to do?" Kanchana gets a sense of sorrow, hatred and maybe hope from the plants but they do not seem to want to give up yet. "Will you give us blood? Will you pay us the price that we seek to keep the peace? The vines slowly loosen their hold upon the Oak-Zeoll and seems to draw back from him a little. "We let him go but remember...cross us and we destroy the civilized."

It seems that a compromise will need to be met or these vines will take over the hamlet. Kanchana knows enough to realize that these vines will do just what they say they will and with the increased power in nature...could do it easily.

[knowledge(nature), knowledge(history) or bardic knowledge DC 26 to remember some obscure piece of knowledge that these are vampiric vines. A vine that has not been seen for some twenty years or better and were thought to of been killed out for good.]

To the Chosen, "We realy need to figure this nature thing out. Any ideas Kanchana?"

[OOC: I'm assuming that Zeoll can understand and join the conversation with the vines while in Oak form? Or maybe Kanchana can relay his ideas?]

Zeoll thanks the vines. "You are generous, children of the soil. Why don't you make a pact with the people of this village? Let them live in peace, and they will bring you creatures full of blood that you need. They can move and hunt easily -- why not let them work for you? In return, you can protect them from the tasty enemies that may come here to attack them, like wolves."

"You see how these people revere plants, like these beautiful Whistal Trees. Let them honor you and bring you the food you need." [OOC: Diplomacy 33]

Finally, the bard/druid has a request. "Great vines, you are strong and magnificent. To honor my meeting with you, may I have such a tendril as you might spare, a momento of our meeting?

[OOC: Diplomacy 30]

Note that in oak form, Zeoll has no accent.

Then, since the vines have pulled back, Zeoll changes back to a liontaur and walks out of the vine patch.

Kanchana  d20+12=21
Sunday June 12th, 2005 8:29:45 AM

Kanchana hears the vines request for a blood sacrifice, and listens to what they say about Mother Wold imprisoning them.
Obviously just attaining Green Mage status has no immediate effect on her knowledge of obscure plants; Kanchana just misses figuring out what type of plant this is! (knowl. Nature 21)

[Plant Speak]
"If I must give you blood from my body to secure the life of my Brother and these people my Spirit-Kin I will give it, but not so much that I must pay with my own life to grant your request."
Kanchana calmly continues her parlay with the vampire vines,
"Mother Wold wishes for balance in the Wold and taking more blood then is necessary to sustain life causes an imbalance. Perhaps that is why She made you sleep then, perhaps She wished for you to awaken in a time when you could use your birth gifts to defend all of Her Children - and not to invertantly destroy them? The Fae King only wishes to destroy and he wants to use you as a tool to spread destruction, when you are no longer of use he will destroy you as well."
Kanchana senses a little of the conflicting emotions appearent in the vines' voice,
"You can sense that these people live as close to Nature as any Wold-Child can without being born directly from the Great Mother's body. Perhaps you could work with them to defend this place which is sacred to Mother Wold? The King wishes to destroy this place of harmony, so there will be many enemies for you to take blood from. If you work with the people here your defence work will be praised and not feared. You will be honored for working with the Great Mother."
Green Mage Kanchana adds one last thing for good measure,
"I will not cross you. I have no good reason to make any enemy out of any of her Children."

Kanchana waits for the vines' reply and hopes that her words have some effect on the vines' decision.

The Question to a Question. (DM Jim)
Tuesday June 14th, 2005 1:53:44 PM

The vines seem to consider this for a few moments as Kanchana talks to them. It seems to like the idea but speaks to Kanchana for a minute. If the people agree...then we will relent. Upon talking to the leaders of the council Kanchana will find that they readily agree to take care of the plants in exchange for added protection. With a last little shudder the vines and the other three that had sprouted up in the village withdraw into the ground...only to reappear near the gates of the hamlet but off to the side. Left lying on the ground is a three foot long piece of the vampire vine...maybe a gift to Zeoll or an apology of sorts.

The next couple of days pass uneventfully though several times you see the white bunnies from earlier running around near the hamlet...three of them get caught by the vampire vines though. At last it is time for the ceremony to honor and burn the dead of the village.

The whole hamlet moves out to the enclosed area that they have the pyres set up in. The bodies are placed upon the pyres with many little tokens for them to take with them on thier travels to Gargul. Horatio leads the hamlet in a chant to Domi, Mother Wold and Gargul that breaks into singing at the last...though several villagers are unable to continue as they break down crying. The clerics and druids of the Chosen are asked to give their blessings to the bodies before they are set on fire.

Finally the deed is done and the hamlet seems a lot more somber as everyone returns. The winds have not blown for some time now and Kanchana gets the feeling that all the trees in the village are crying. In fact if she listens to them they are weeping in their own voices.

Horatio comes to the Chosen and takes them in at a glance. "I know that you must be going...for my reaction and words when we first met...I am deeply sorry." He holds out his hand to each of them and you see the beginnings of tears in his eyes. "We have gathered food that should see you back to Plateau City...but please come back and see us if you have the chance." The rest of the hamlet has come out as well and they all seem to be sporting small smiles dispite the funerals that just took place some six hours ago. "We are honored to call the Chosen our friends...without you we would have been in much worse shape...in fact this hamlet would no longer be as it is." Several large baskets of foodstuffs are layed out on the ground before the Chosen and you see many faces that seem to want to ask you to stay, but they know that you have a greater destiny.

At the gates as the group prepares to leave Kanchana is met with another surprise. Amada is standing there waiting. She embraces Kanchana in a great hug and whispers in her ear. "Take care my sister...keep them safe and always hold true to the Mother." As she steps back she gives a smile and nods. "Find the owner and release your burden." With a look to the rest of the Chosen she smiles again. "You have given me something beyond words...I never thought that all three races would get along...but you do." She glances to Horatio and nods to him as well. "Now I have an important job to do as well...I will keep this hamlet upon the path of Nature and Mother Wold."

Lastly is the appearance of Leets to see the Chosen off. "I am sorry that I cannot travel with you any longer...but our paths may yet come back together." He in turn grasps each one of them by the arm in farwell but also hugs each as tears appear upon his face. "My destiny is to walk the path of the Chosen and I may return to you when Domi calls for me to be a warrior again...but this hamlet will have need of me...Farwell my friends and comrades." He steps forward and kisses Kanchana on the cheek and gives her a wink as he steps back by Horatio and Amada.

So the Chosen move away from the hamlet and back towards Plateau City. Thier hearts are heavier than they have been for some time but you have the feeling that Leets will travel with you again.

Sorry for moving this along so fast, but I figure that some if not everyone is getting tired of sitting around. ;) Also sorry for no post yesterday but am being very careful with this computer...I like being able to post in the Wold. :)

Kanchana
Tuesday June 14th, 2005 5:40:00 PM

Kanchana takes part in the ceremony for the dead, then says her farewells. Kanchana returns Amada's hug and nods when Amada mentions the mystical sword artifact.
"May the true keeper of this sword be worthy to wield it for the greater good of Mother WOld and all of her children," Kanchana whispers to Amada.

Finally Kanchana will give Leets a good bye hug and tell him to be careful. She hopes that one day their paths will cross again and Leets will be ready to resume aiding Father Tomi's Chosen once again.

Kanchana will help carry some of the foodstuffs if necessary. She is not in any really hurry to go to another city though - even if the answers to the sword enigma may be found there...

Zeoll

Zeoll takes the tendril with respect, bowing to the plant. He says, "I will trreasurre this token." He weaves it in his mane over his ears like a wreath.

At the funeral, he offers his voice and drum for the ceremonies.

Saying good-by, he nods to Amada and wishes her well. "You have a good hearrt, daughterr of the Whistals. Domi bless you and let us meet again!"

On the road, he asks Brahmah, "Um, why arre we going to Plateau City? I must admit I have forrgotten!"

Zeoll (illegal second post!)
Wednesday June 15th, 2005 7:12:32 AM

[Omigosh! so much to respond to! I almost forgot the most important of all.]

When it is time to say goodby to Leets, Zeoll turns to the paladin in surprise. "Leets, no! You werre with us beforre I died. Finding you still among the Chosen was a trrue blessing. Us old-timerrs have to stick togetherr. I grrieve now at ourr parrting." The liontaur is visibly sad. He embraces the centaur paladin close for a moment, then holds him at arms' length, with his hands on his shoulders.

"Well, if I could rreturrn frrom death to rrejoin this grroup, then you can rreturrn to us as well when you arre done. I rrelease you, old frriend, forr a brrief time, but not forreverr!"

Zeoll lets go and steps back.

"Farre you well, Leets Talrric, and go in Domi's hand. Rrreturrn to us soon."

Brahmah
Wednesday June 15th, 2005 12:57:16 PM

The ranger watches the ceremony at the pyre from about a hundred feet off. His emotions are mixed.

The Captain of the Chosen is in shock at Leets departure and has little to say. "Goodbye my friend. Courage and strength be with you." His eyes tear up at seeing one of the greatest warriors among the Chosen leave after so long. He returns a very heart-felt and stiff hug to the centaur and quickly releases him, thumping him in the shoulder with a closed fist. Nothing is ever certain. We may or may not ever meet again. He thinks to himself.

After the Chosen get underway, Brahmah turns to Zeoll. "Honestly, I can't remember. Weren't we getting arrested? No, wait, the elves let us go.... hmmmm...." He thinks for several minutes and then continues. "... Aren't we supposed to return to the isles from there or something? To join the war?
I'm getting too old for this." He scratches his head.

About two hours pass before he goes to Kanchana. "So, your a plant-head now huh?" He smiles and winks. "As I understand it, you have a mission of your own now. Is it about your new found abilities? Or something else." He sounds inquisitive, but doesn't butt in if his questions are unanswered. He understands about religious privacy having been aboard ship with humans of several different faiths. "Well, we will help you quest... does it need to get done now?" He askes, curiously. "We could use a change of pace. Maybe we can take the 'long way' home."

Solgrin

Strange Weather. (DM Jim)
Thursday June 16th, 2005 1:06:16 AM

The Chosen have been traveling in the direction of Plateau City for two days. They find the going easy and much is talked over. Brahmah remembers that they must see the three taur scholars as they have something to tell the group...something that could bode evil for the taurs as a whole.

The evening of the second day you see some white areas in the distance as you travel. As you draw closer you notice that the area ahead is totally covered in white stuff. It just seems that the green ends and then the white takes over as far as you all can see ahead and two the sides. An inspection reveals that the white stuff is snow...but why here is your first question. Anyone passing over the invisible line is suddenly struck with the absolute cold that flows on the other side (Fort DC 22 or suffer 1d6 Con damage).

Kanchana is puzzled by the snowfall at this time of the year. She silently offers up a few choice complaints about the Fae King to any Power that cares to pay attention.

Kanchana listens to what the local flora has to say about this strange snowfall.

If the Chosen decide to camp then Kanchana will inform the others about what she has learned about the mystery sword. She will add that she believes that some one in Plateau City may know more about the sword, and that some one in said city might be it's "rightful owner".

From now on Kanchana will always pray for a Tree Shape spell each morning.

FYI, Kanchana will spend her part of the watch in her willow-form; therefore she will share her sword ingo with everyone of the Chosen before her watch or after breakfast the next morning.

((Please read the DM posts mentioning the Black (Long) Sword, for info; (sorry but) it is too much for me to want to try and repeat in writing. Most important points: 1. it is an artifact, 2. it is usuable against Fae Kings??))

Kanchana to Brahmah
Thursday June 16th, 2005 4:33:57 PM

"Yes I have a sort of quest, but it has nothing really to do with being initiated as a Green Mage. The "quest" has to do with that strange sword I inexplicably picked up from Rythiniag's horde. Answers will be found in that 'city-blight' we are travelling to; or so Amada told me."

Kanchana chortles and grins a little at Brahmah's "plant head" comment.

"The only thing I feel I have "to do" as a Green Mage is to find - or start? - a Circle; a ring?, that will accept Amada and I as members," Kanchana takes a short breather as she still has much to say, "Amada said that Green Mages are exceptionally rare here in the Wold... Since it took me the better part of two years to find any word about them - never mind the sheer luck of coming across Amada! - I am very inclined to agree that Green Mages are certainly few and far between!"

Kanchana politely gives Brahmah; or anyone else who wants to ask any questions, a chance to get a word in edge-wise.

Having been deaing with some other stuff recently. Toros tries to catch up with other Chosen finally. He follows the ongoing conversations, not entering the snowy area yet.

The Night Camp. (DM Jim)
Friday June 17th, 2005 5:59:29 PM

With little real travel time left before supper the group breaks down and sets up camp in an area of soft pine needles. The snow in this area lends many questions to the group that are not immediately answerable.

The group spends the time talking over thier destination, Plateau City and why they must go back. Some have some personal reasons to want to go there. Still the main factor is the war that is starting in the Taur Isles...the taur scholars at the city have an idea of what it is that Vargas is searching for.

For some reason a hearty stew is fixed up for the whole group in short order and they all share a laugh. It must have been the cold that prompted this meal, without any conscious thought.

The night is uneventful and you all wake the next morning feeling quite rested and alive. To your dismay the snow is still there but in the other direction of the hamlet is sand as far as the eye can see. Just how much weirder can this day get and how much more can nature take?

Brahmah
Saturday June 18th, 2005 1:20:28 AM

"Vargas is looking for a weapon I bet. But what might make this weapon so special?"

Kanchana
Saturday June 18th, 2005 8:44:03 PM

"The one I am carrying? I don't think it really has anything to do with Vargas. I think it has more of a connection to the vision Toros had at that inn."

Zeoll
Saturday June 18th, 2005 9:01:56 PM

The liontaur suggests to Kanchana that Endure Elements spells all around would be a good idea. "Togetherr we should be able to coverr everryone, rright?"

How far is it to the city?

Brahmah
Sunday June 19th, 2005 10:42:42 AM

"Oh, I know Kanchana. Not this sword..." He points to the sword Kanchana is carrying. "...I'm saying a weapon, in general. Anything. A person. Weapon. Item. Artifact. Whatever."

Solgrin
Sunday June 19th, 2005 2:54:46 PM

Solgrin spends a couple of hours resting then will take a guard watch and study his spell books.

When the group heads out in the morning Solgrin will tell Brahmah "I will be needing to spend some time at the Star Tower while we are in Plateau City."

Kanchana
Sunday June 19th, 2005 2:57:49 PM

"Oh," Kanchana answers Brahmah, "I misunderstood you. Do you have any information at all about what Vargas is seeking?"

Next Kanchana discusses spells with Zeoll.

"Hmm, that might be a good idea. I have never asked the Great Mother for that spell before."

Kanchana brings Solgrin into the spells discussion.

"Solgrin is Endure Elements a spell you know of as well?"

Solgrin
Sunday June 19th, 2005 2:59:16 PM

Hearing Kanchana, Solgrin smiles while saying "yes it is one I can prepare. I will prepare one for myself and another to take care of one of the others."

Gecktar
Sunday June 19th, 2005 4:28:54 PM

Hearing Zeoll, Kanchana and Solgrin comment about the spell smiles and says: <i>"If there is a need for this particular spell I could provide some if you want but for now Zeoll come close so I can cure any disease you may have. And Solgrin don't go away, come on, you too have to get my spell..."</i>

Toros
Monday June 20th, 2005 6:07:30 AM

"Dear friends, if you want I can also prepare the Endure Elements spell, I know it. One hour would be enough to replace them with my previously prepared spells."

"Kanchana is right to recall the meeting in the Giggling Ghost that my spirit was. There were many comments questioning about the awakening of the Sleeper, and I am afraid that what is feared by some Woldians is coming true: when the nature order is changed as such, you can never assure whether it will be for all good or bad..."

Flat-top
Monday June 20th, 2005 7:34:53 AM

Flat-top is running up the road, Yelling! "Wait for Me??" As he aproches the group He Tells them "Did I miss any thing? I went to answer the call of nature, When I turnd around every body was gone, then I got lost in the Forest."

Brahmah
Monday June 20th, 2005 9:55:04 AM

"I can prepare the endure spell too. Tomorrow though. I also have a scroll." Says the Captain.

Solgrin
Monday June 20th, 2005 7:10:09 PM

"Gectar, my friend, I am not in need of cure disease." Solgrin says.

Zeoll
Monday June 20th, 2005 9:05:13 PM

The druid bard is grateful for the Cure Disease. "Thanks! I have no desirre to be a werrewolf! Solgrrin, betterr safe than sorrry!"

Zeoll prepares one to four Endure Elements, depending on how many are needed to cover everyone.

After all are Endured up, he asks, "Shall we hit the rroad once morre, frriends?"

Kale
Monday June 20th, 2005 10:13:55 PM

while everyone discusses about preparing spells, Kale will walk 30ft into the snow. if he feels that he's in any danger he will activate his boots of levitation and float above the snow.

Brahmah  d20+8=28

As the other discuss their issues, Brahmah turns to watch Kale. (WHOOT! Natural 20, Spot 28)

Flat-top
Tuesday June 21st, 2005 7:46:47 AM

Flat-top follows his old friend Kale. He test the snow to see if it's ferm, also how cold it is. "Kale this snow is not normal is it? Where are we being led to?" He ask as he followes Kale. "Oh! Yes! I have an extra cape if your getting cold?"

Onward and upward. (DM Jim)
Tuesday June 21st, 2005 8:20:58 AM

The next morning spells are discussed a little before morning devotions and everyone is on the right page. Then each goes about his own little business as they prepare to push onto Plateau City.

Kale steps across the barrier that seems to separate snow from normal in this area. He is suddenly assaulted by the cold, that seems to seep into him even around the spell that has been laid upon him. Flat-top is right on his heels as normal and speaks to him as he also feels the bite of the freezing cold, that strikes so fast as you pass the barrier. Kale finds no immediate danger that he can react to...the most obvious being this cold.

Brahmah spots little tracks in the snow of wild animals, but they do not seem to stay in the area of snow for long. In fact this area seems to be a lot different from the ground and flora that should be here...namely there is no flora. If one had to surmise, he would guess that it is like someone took a bit of another land and put it here.

As everyone moves out into the snow you all feel the bite of the cold. Despite the spell that you have up it is permeating your bodies and seeping to the bone. You keep moving feeling that if you stop you may never start moving again. Five hours later you come to the end of the snow...it just ends and the land returns to normal...errhh as normal as things have been lately.

The open areas that surround and lead to Plateau City have big ditches dug into them and the reason is all to apparant....FLOODING. Great rivers of water are running down the plateaus though most of it is being controlled by ditches that have been dug to channel the water away from the city. In fact to get to the main road that leads towards Plateau City you will need to pass across one of these.

The water is at least eight feet deep and running really fast. Those with mariner in their blood will know that to try and cross normally would be fatal. Those more in tune with nature will also be able to suggest not wading out into it unless you want to visit the sea the hard way.

The travel through the cold zone takes a steep toll on Zeoll (missed three saves. takes 6 Str damge and 12! Con damage! Con is at 3). The liontaur is barely upright when he emerges from the cold.

"Thank Tomi we arre clearr of that! Any morre would have killed me!" Frost covers his fur and his paws are matted with frozen blood.

He looks out at the plateaus and the massive flooding torrents in the party's way.

Zeoll lays down on the warm earth. He eats a goodberry to fortify himself. He looks at the rushing river in his way. How wide is this obstacle? All he wants to do is sleep and rest for a few days or weeks.

Whether with the help of the spells or not, for a long time the cold remains bearable for Toros (1st and 2nd d20s 14+12, 26>20), however to the end it goes beyond his threshold to stand cold and Toros feels more tired and weaker (3. d20, 7+12=19<20, 3 strength, 6 constitution damage)

The running water seems to make things worse. How on Wold they will get to the Plateau City!!

"I get a funny feeling that that desolate piece of land doesn't belong there..."

Kanchana looks back at the frozen wasteland they just crossed. She then turns to face to floodplains that they must cross next. (Knowl. Nature 18, Survival 34)

"I second Brahmah on that. If we try and cross here now we will be swept down-river; and if we are lucky no one would have drowned in the swift waters."

Kanchana scans the areas above and below where they are now to see if she can spot a ford or a bridge where they can cross (Spot 14).

Thanks to Brahmah's guidance, Toros recalls a couple of critical rules for survival in snow and cold weather. (Failed for the 2nd, but made the 1. and 3. survival checks, 18 and 23) With the company of his friends Toros does not feel weak or tired anymore. (The 3rd survival check helps Toros recover from the effects of strength and consitution loss) He also tries to support as much as he can for anyone he sees that is having trouble. (For the first Fort check +2 to Kale and Zeoll - I think with also Brahmah's help Kale now makes the first save. For the third Fort Check +2 to Everyone)

Swept away. (DM Jim)
Thursday June 23rd, 2005 12:15:31 AM

Most of the Chosen feel the effects of the freezing cold as the pass through the area. You all make it through with some difficulty but at least you have made it through. Some of you just want a nice hot bowl of soup or stew and bedrest, but you are delayed by a flooded ditch that blocks your way.

It is easily decided that you should not try and swim across as the water is moving rather fast and it would be almost impossible. You do notice that the ditch is only about fifteen feet across...maybe it would be possible to jump across. There are no bridges or other ways to get across it that you can see...there are some trees nearby that could by made into a bridge, but they would have to be cut down.

Kanchana does remember some rumors...rumors remember...that tell of a land that is frozen over. The cold is suppose to be unbearable there and you could freeze to death in minutes. Still this is most likely a myth as noone has actually seen it, it is all second hand knowledge.

Gecktar
Thursday June 23rd, 2005 5:12:23 AM

"Well, I'm not very versed in jumping such gap. I'm almost sure that I will finish in the river." says Gecktar.

Looking around for some other solution he adds "Maybe there another choice"

Kale
Thursday June 23rd, 2005 9:41:53 AM

(OOC, by having help with my saves, im now downt to 12 str and 16 con.)

"I can get across." Kale says between chattering teeth, "But I cant do anything for the rest of you. Maybe we should rest here and think on it a bit."

Brahmah
Thursday June 23rd, 2005 10:18:56 AM

"Its times like these I miss my flying cape." He looks sad.

"We should look for another way. Kale, can you port us all across?"

Zeoll (HP 18 of 18, Con 3 of 15, Str 6 of 12)
Thursday June 23rd, 2005 11:06:57 AM

Beginning to recover mentally, if not physically, from the cold, Zeoll says, "Look! It is only 15 feet acrross! Why don't we find a few solid fallen trrees, haul them overr, and use them as a bridge. Maybe we can lash them togetherr orr use Wood Shape spells."

"If that takes a day, fine. We can use the time to heal up frrom this frrost. We could use some Rrestorration magic."

Flat-top
Thursday June 23rd, 2005 12:30:25 PM

Flat-top looks to the other side, then tell the rest of the party, "Do we still have a 50' rope? I think I can jump to the other side. If we can tie one end to a tree and over hand to the other side where I'd be waiting?
What do you think Captain? Are we strong enough to try? If not can we try tomorow?"

Toros  d20=1

"I have a rope and am thinking in the line of Flat-top's suggestion."

Brahmah
Thursday June 23rd, 2005 11:12:22 PM

"Someone is attempting to bar our way. We can not cross here. Kanchana agrees that this is a strong flow. We need to manage another way across."

Parting the Red Ditch. (JimW)
Friday June 24th, 2005 12:32:46 AM

Several ideas are thrown out by the group as to how to get across. Some would find it easy work to jump across the ditch but others may find it harder, especially in thier weakened state.

There are no downed trees that you can see about you, but there are trees that could be chopped down to make a bridge. Most of the trees are only about four feet wide and it would take a couple of them to at least make a suitable bridge.

The idea of a rope being spanned across the ditch is also thrown out to the group. This would also seem to be a good plan, but maybe not in the weakened condition that some of the group is in. Does the group want to risk this venture to make it across.

Resting has also been brought up and then tackling this job in the morning. It seems logical in that certain spells would allow the group to get across with minimal risk to anyone. No real decision are made right away as the group has many options that they have suggested.

One thing is for certain...someone does not want the group to get to Plateau City...or this all could just be coincidence.

As the group talks they suddenly hear several high pitched laughs that seem to come from all around them. Though you cannot see anything and there is very little to hide behind or in. Off in the distance you see a group of elves making thier way across the plateau heading in the direction of The Culverwoods.

Using rope to get across would be very difficult or slightly easier. It all depends on how you plan to do it. :)

Kanchana
Friday June 24th, 2005 1:33:17 AM

Kanchana looks at the laughing Elves across the way.
She takes a chance and hails them.

"Hello there Good Folk!" Kanchana waves at the Elves in a friendly manner.
"Do you know of any fords or bridges that can be used to cross the river?"

Kanchana is calling out in Common; she doesn't speak Elvish. Kanchana approaches the group of Elves at a walk. He movements and tone of voice indicate only friendly intent.

Solgrin
Friday June 24th, 2005 5:11:52 AM

Solgrin spends time trying to warm himself up some then looks over to Brahmah and asks "why not do a combination of the bridge and the rope? This way going across would be easier as there would then be a hand-hold for people to use on the way across."

Kale
Friday June 24th, 2005 7:16:52 AM

"No, I cant 'port everyone across." Kale tells Brahmah. "Just myself."

Brahmah
Friday June 24th, 2005 1:00:15 PM

Knowing the answer before he even askes, Brahmah asks Kale, "I don't suppose we each, in turn, could use your boots?" He smirks at the minotaur with a wink.
Thinking to himself. 'I'd say no personally.'

Toros
Friday June 24th, 2005 9:06:13 PM

Wondering if his newly discovered affinity with them would do anything, Toros also waves to the Elves together with Kanchana. Then he hears Brahmah's suggestion to Kale, which reminds him the seal of flying he keeps and shares this information with others. " I also still have the seal of flying. If you want to use it now, we can. We can all fly over the land for 10 minutes, if it would be enough."

Giggling innocence. (DM Jim)
Saturday June 25th, 2005 1:09:30 AM

Kanchana and Toros both try to get the elves attention but to thier amazement the elves do not seem to notice them. Even at the two hundred yards away that they are they should have seen you. There are several ditches in the way of them getting to you but what is going on.

Kanchana and Zeoll feel a reverberation throught thier bodies, as if someone or something was talking to them. Highlight to display spoiler: {"Sister...Brother. Join us. Power is yours. Take it."} The voice is persistant for a time as it keeps echoeing in your bodies. You feel a pull to do what it asks and it has the taint of nature around it.

Once again the giggling is heard and a voice like bells rings out. "They will not hear your calls. They will not see you either." The voice giggles again and you have a sense that something is out of place.
