The group gathered on the forest floor blends well with the surroundings. Four halflings stand barely taller than the ferns, while the two dwarfs stand a head taller. Perhaps the standing out the most is the half elven bard. Even though he stands at the same height, the wild look of the shape shifter makes him seem more a creature of the forest. After waiting patiently for what seems a long time, Kendry, the small bard, moves a fern from in front of his face and suggests that they move on to the Red Wyrm Inn.
With the impatience of a wild animal, Gilan paces the forest floor. When Kendry suggests that they move through the mist to the Red Wyrm Inn, Gilan immediately moves through the mist. The mist wavers, and you can see Gilan step through the door of the Inn.
Soon, the rest of the group follows.
Entering the Inn, you see that it is busy, but that a table in the back of the room has recently been vacated. Mugs and greasy plates cover the table. A young, buxom servant girl is busily trying to clear the table, though she is clearly overwhelmed by the amount of dishes and the scattered food on the table and floor.
You are met at the door of the Inn by a large man, whose ancestry looks like it may have included an orc or ogre in the distant past. Though large and unkempt, he has the appearance of wealth and power. Looking down at all of you, he says:
"Well, don't just stand there, what do you want?"
Gesturing over at the table, with a spray of spit, he adds:
"Corela will have the table ready soon, if she wants to keep a bed and a bite to eat that is. Well, what will it be? We have drinks, food, rooms, and a roll with Corela if ya want."
Patterton Sunday August 7th, 2005 1:31:17 AM
The large Hobbit pulls on his short beard for a moment, giving the barmaid a once over. After a heartbeat of hesitation, he turns to the huge man.
"Tempting as that may be,sir, I think I'll just take a tankard of ale...and while you're at it, pour one for each of my friends here. Say, what do you know about the temple of Gargul here in town?"
Kendry Sunday August 7th, 2005 1:33:50 AM Outside the Inn Kendry chuckles at Gilan's jest. "I should like to see the quality of the writing in these prayer books, in any wise." At the mention of Gargul, he says, "I prayed to him about someone recently." He notes the fellow's use of the term 'packmates.'
The halfling returns his friend's robust hand shake. "Alway glad to have you watching my back, Rainbow Kid," he says in an obscure reference to the part of the Culverwood Patterton hails from. "Oh, and prestidigitation does wonders. Remember Mayzie's dress? ... Good idea, that - let's grab a mug."
In the Inn "Yes, a buttered roll with jam would be pleasant for starters," Kendry answers the powerfully built man. "Although with all the work - Corela, is it? - has to do, we are in no rush. So, food, yes, and drinks, yes. Might you have a private booth or room for me and my friends? And a room for the night - or a few rooms, depending on how many might sleep in one."
After a brief look about at those within in Inn, he inquires congenially, "Are you perhaps the manager or proprietor of this fine establishment?"
Nezamil d20+5=14 d20+5=11 Sunday August 7th, 2005 10:32:09 PM
"yeah an ale sounds good Patterton " grins the dwarf " lets take the table near the back "
as Nezamil reaches the table he fishes out a gold piece and slips it to the buxom serving girl " this is for you keep up the good work and a round of ales for us " smiles the dwarf "oh and a glass of cold milk for him " as Nezamil jerks his thumb in Wilfires direction and chuckles
As the rest of the the traveling band settles in at the table " we shouldn't talk to loud about we're doing " says the dwarf in hushed tones " we don't know what we're up against so lets not draw attention to ourselves "
Nezamil settles in his chair and leans it back on two legs against the wall and slowly observes the activity in the Red Wyrm Inn

Podo Monday August 8th, 2005 12:39:36 AM Outside the Inn Podo listens and waits for the group to get moving. Once , they finally move, he'll follow bringing up the rear.
At the door of the Inn "Say, what's the going rate these days for a roll with Corela ?" asks Podo of the big man at the door. "I'll have an ale, and a booth with my companions here and perhaps a room as well." "If you need me, I'll be over there, points Podo to the big man at the door.".
Podo joins his friends at the booth even if the proprietor doesn't answer him about Corela.
Airin - Crescent Valley d20+10=26 Monday August 8th, 2005 2:08:44 AM ooc : AT LAST ... I'M BAAAACK ... >:-X
Catching up with everyone Airin shakes hands with the other warriors she has never met before. Nezamil, Wilfire, Gilan and Arm ... well met my friends. I am Airin Moondancer Turnbell. Her dark grey cloak somehow seems to cover Airin in shadows. It's obvious being sneaky is one of her prefered tactics. On her back she has a light crossbow attached, and the bastard sword in her hilt sure looks keen to hurt a few mosters along the way.
Going with the flow for now Airin follows the rest into the Inn. Right ... noon hour ... prayer book ... chapter six ... temple of Gargul ... Do we have time to be here at the inn ?!?
Returning to her own self Airin starts to examine the inn ... looking for whomever might show intrest in the newly arrived group. Probably everyone here i the inn, but some might be "over"- interested ...

Arm - Plateau City Monday August 8th, 2005 5:50:04 AM
Arm smiles at and greets all those present. Once they enter the Inn, he orders an ale and joins them at the table in the rear, still wondering what has become of Wilf, "He'd best hurry before we end up leaving him behind," he thinks.
Patterton Monday August 8th, 2005 3:03:55 PM
Patty slugs back the drink and licks the foam off of his upper lip. "Good stuff." He proclaims, "Right then, should we get something to eat while we're at it? No telling how long it will be untill we get another chance to have a "sit down" meal, eh? After that, what say we head to the market and pick up what we need? It must be coming up on noon by now."
DM Kelly Monday August 8th, 2005 5:52:37 PM
The table at the back of the room is sooned cleared, and the large man walks you to the table. As he walks, you sense that he has not always been at the Inn. He has the grace and movement of a fighter, and the scars of many battles are evident.
"Ale for all it is then."
With a sneer, he adds: "What was that? A milk for the dwarf?" Gesturing at Wilfire. "I'll see what we have left after the children and women have had a go at it."
With a roaring voice, he yells to Corela: "Brings some Ale, quickly now. Oh, and if we have milk bring some of it too. Bread and jam too. Hop to it now!"
Further questions aimed at him are answered: "Me, my name is Dander. Yea, I run this place, but I don't own it if that's what you mean. Still, what I says goes around here. As for a room, we have two adjoining rooms that are available, they should fit you all. Coming to think of it, maybe you could all fit in one room if you share beds. Rates are 10 silver a piece if you share one room, double that if you want two rooms."
Soon, Corela arrives with the Ale, some bread and jam, and a tanker of milk. The milk seems to be a bit sour and warm.
"Corela, this small one here has taken an interest in you," he says, gesturing at Podo. "Tell you what, for 20 gold you can have her all night. That's half off for you."
The man now breaks into a fit of laughter as Corela slams down the remaining Ale, and gives a deadly glance at Dander and the halfling. She stalks off and soon disappears into the kitchen.
As his laughter subsides, he says: "I guess you are not her type, but for 40 gold I'll see to it that you are. Now, what was that about the temple of Gargul?"
As Airin and Nezamil scan the Inn, they see that the incident at the table has brought the stares of many in the room. Many are smiling and laughing. One person near the door however is also staring, but no flicker of a smile plays on his face. Upon eye contact, he quickly slips out the door. You notice that he was dressed in a dark robe with a red Eye of Gargul upon the sleeve.
Wilfire Ironhouse Monday August 8th, 2005 6:15:22 PM
Wilfire took a large swig from the tanker of milk. "Ahhh... stuff of deh saints this is," he said as he wiped the white liquid off his red beard.
Wilfire took another swig and continued speaking- "One room might be a wee bit small fer all of yue, but it'll do me jus' fine."
Kendry Monday August 8th, 2005 6:35:15 PM
"Don't rise to false bait, Podo," Kendry says. He dashes out the door to catch up to the man with the Eye of Gargul on his sleeve. He places his hand just under the neck of his clothing, and moves with speed [longstrider, movement 30 - moving with haste within the Inn, and, if necessary, running to catch up outside].
"Sir - this is not who we are. My cousin - well, I'll not explain further. Such transactions as the innkeep suggested are vulgar and unwarranted, not to mention cruel. My name is Kendry. Judge not with too much haste. How might we serve him who watches over the departed?"
Gilan Monday August 8th, 2005 8:38:49 PM
Gilan stalks along with the rest and sits at the table with his back to the wall. His eyes dart as he watches everything and his nose seems to wrinkle way too often. He slides the mug close and then sniffs at the contents and then sits it back down, pushing it far away. "Clean water for me." He looks to the man named Dander and smiles his canines more pronounced than in a normal human. "I would also like a large chunk of meat...kind of bloody if at all possible...bread and cheese as well." He slides a single gold upon the table in the large man's direction. "For starters."
Looking to the others he smiles as Corela had slammed the stuff down earlier and laughs lightly. "Spirit...I like that." His eyes flash with something akin to lust and respect at the same time. Looking to Dander he nods in the direction that she had went. "Can she use a dagger and well?" With a thought as he waits his smile widens. "I can sleep in the tiniest of places if it suits me or is needed...one room or two does not bother me...I could even spend a nice night in the stables." You notice a low rumble in his throat that seems to be part laughter and part growl.

Patterton Monday August 8th, 2005 9:56:07 PM
Patty cocks an eyebrow as Kendry suddenly darts out of the Inn, noting which direction the bard turns as he exits the door. With a heavy sigh the halfling pushes himself away from the table and weaves his way through the crowd quickly.
As he exits the building he breaks into a run, wondering what kind of trouble his cousin is digging up this time. 'Oh, well.' he thinks, 'prehaps this priest knows something.'
"You there!" The stout Hobbit hollers as he approaches his cousin and the robed man. "Halt! Halt, I say!" Patterton does not draw his blade yet, but is prepared to do so if things get ugly.
Podo Tuesday August 9th, 2005 12:24:12 AM
Podo grins, saying "Wow, I've never been...aye first time for everything. I hope I didn't insult her with my inquiries. Oh well, another time then."
Podo return to his friends to consume drinks and the food.
"I don't take too much room, I try to live simply."
Nezamil d20+3=18 Tuesday August 9th, 2005 12:32:22 AM
The dwarf returns the stare of the dark robed man then lets his eyes come to rest on his sleeve " red eye of Gargul? " murmers Nezamil as he searches his memory (d20+3=18 knowledge of religion ch) " wonder what that means "
The dwarf glances at the faces at the table " we're supposed to meet at the Temple of Gargul at noon aren't we ?"
" and now a member of Garguls temple finds us here ?.......how did he know to look for us ?"
Nezamil watches as Kendry and Patterton head out after the Red Eye of Gargul "bold move " remarks the dwarf as he sips his ale
" we should get a room for the night and head over to Garguls temple before noon tomorrow to get a feel for whats shaking over there ....but first we must make sure our friends are ok " adds Nezamil as he awaits to see if all chaos breaks loose from the quick footed duo's dash after the dark robed man
Airin Tuesday August 9th, 2005 5:42:08 AM
The moment both Nezamil and Airin notice the figure that was observing them Airin grabs Kendry's sleeve to make him alert that the walls have ears in this inn. Kendry simply dashes of to grab the man ...
Airin nods to Nezamil. There's something about that red eye ... she has seen symbols of Gargul before but never a red one. But these are not her gods so she doesn't care about it too much. Still she's a little worried about her friends, and slowly turns around to see how they are doing. Instinctively her hand fumbles with the hilt of her sword.
Unless if things get out of hand, Airin signals the barkeeper.
"Did you notice that fellow that was staring at us with the red eye of gargul on his sleeve ? Anything you can tell us about him ..." while saying that she rolls a couple of gold pieces in her hand . Maybe he can be persuaded to tell them something usefull.
Arm - Plateau City Tuesday August 9th, 2005 5:53:40 AM
Arm smiles at his friend's arrival and claps him on the shoulder, although waiting first so that he doesn't choke on his milk.
At the sight of the stranger and the duo's departure, Arm glances questioningly at Wilf, wondering if they should follow or not.
DM Kelly Tuesday August 9th, 2005 5:51:18 PM
Kendry quickly rises and moves through the crowded Inn towards the door. The door that the priest with the Red Eye of Gargul on his sleeve went out.
There was something about the Eye of Gargul being red. What was it?
As Kendry moves toward the door, the answer comes to his mind.
The Red Eye of Gargul is used to worship the evil side of Gargul before the Year of Ascension. Somehow these followers think Gargul has been corrupted, and now they follow Marteaus.
As the thought comes to his mind, he slows with his hand on the door. Patty bumps into him.
At precisely the same time, Nezamil bangs his fist onto the table.
"That's it, the priest is up to no good. He is a follower of the old Gargul, the evil one."
Airin signals Dander, who slowly comes over.
"What is it? The Red Eye? Aye, I have seen them about. Stay out of their business and they will stay out of yours, that's what I think."
A slab of red bleeding meat soon arrives, to the delight of Gilan.
Podo Wednesday August 10th, 2005 12:23:38 AM
"Wow, Gilan, that looks freshly killed. What kind of food is that exactly?"
Podo finishes his food, and slowly nurses his drink waiting for his companions to make a move.
Nezamil Wednesday August 10th, 2005 1:13:42 AM
The dwarf leans in on the table looking his fellow travelers in the eye one by one "The Red eye's of Gargul are from the last year of Ascension " remarks Nezamil softly not wanting other nearby tables to overhear " but so is the Fae king there must be some connection" the dwarf lets that statement settle in " so we should be on our toes when we visit Garguls temple tomorrow at noon " adds the dwarf as he sips his mug of ale slowly and takes a peek in Patterton and Kendry's direction
Kendry Wednesday August 10th, 2005 1:27:18 AM
Recalling this fact - oof! - Kendry holds up his hand, and signals for Patty to follow him quietly. He opens the door and stands outside briefly, watching to see what direction this follower of Marteaus goes as he heads out into the night. He then returns to the inside of the Inn and the table with his friends, and new acquaintances.
"The ol' Dark Lord - one of his followers," he remarks to Patty as they go to sit down again.
As he sits the table, Kendry looks around. "I find it difficult to accept that any of my friends would entertain such a proposal as Dander just offered. It was a shameful thing that he did. And for any of us to indicate an inclination to go along with such a foul suggestion, at another's expense, gives me great pause." He hesitates a moment. "I, along with some of my cousins here, and other friends, was there at Ebryon's birth. As he grew from babe to youth to young adult over the course of a few hours, his lascivious ways were evident in abundance. He took unfair advantage of a beautiful elf who was trying to help him. And he - sported, shall we say, with many fey.
"There is nothing wrong with one making love to another - in the right time, and place. It is wrong to sell - or buy - another's body, and to make light of it, and to show little care for the feelings or dignity of the object of lust.
"I will see this thing through - the task that has been set. I think that I would be impressed, though, if any here were ... if any chose to offer the lady an apology."
He then clears his throat. "I've a means that will allow quiet communication among us, even from a bit of a distance. It's a little spell called 'message.' It will allow us to communicate discretely about the matter at hand. I think we need a fair gauge of each other's skills, abilities and resources. It will last about an hour and a half. Just whisper the words you wish to say, and all of us you want hear - among the eight of us - will hear. If there are observers who can read lips, then we would do well to mind line of sight, no? If none object?" he questions. If no one appears to object to his casting of the spell... Kendry pulls a small copper wire from a pouch at his waist, and touches it to his mouth, whispering 'oyez' and touches the copper to his ear.
"Shall we begin?" he whispers - but all at the table can hear him clearly. "I am a bard, and able to cast spells to the third order. Among my spells are these of lowly order, of which I can use four on any day: Detect Magic Know Direction Mage Hand Message Prestidigitation Read Magic
"These of the first order, of which I can use four each day: Cure Light Wounds Expeditious Retreat Feather Fall Grease
"Of the second order, four can I use of: Cure Moderate Wounds Detect Thoughts Glitterdust Mirror Image
"And three uses from the following each day: Blink Clairaudience/Clairvoyance Good Hope
"I can purify food and drink at four meals a day
"My languages are: Auran, Celestial, Common, Draconic, Duncan's sign language - quite handy in situations where discrete communication or handsigns at a distance are needed - Dwarf, Elfish, Giant, Goblin, Halfling, High Woldian, Orc and Sylvan.
"My composite shortbow is magicked against the fey. In my quiver of Ehlonna are some normal arrows, as well as some of cold iron, of adamantine, and a few with alchemical silvered tips. My bastard sword and rapier are both made of cold iron, as are my darts and a couple daggers, and a light mace - oh, and a sap, and some excellent manacles.
"Among my alchemical items are three to six each of acid, alchemist's fire, antitoxin, holy water, tanglefoot bags, and thunderstones. And two containers of universal solvent.
"In my haversack also are Quaal's feather tokens - the anchor, fan, swan and whip.
"Two each of scrolls of Alarm, Mending, and Protection from Chaos. One each of scrolls of Comprehend Languages, Diminish Plants, Hold Portal, Identify, Greater Invisibility, Knock, and Touch of Idiocy.
"In my quiver also are wands: With a brown tip: Bear's Endurance, with 8 charges Silver tip: Cat's Grace, 6 charges Light blue tip: Cure Light Wounds, 50 charges Blue tip: Cure Moderate Wounds, 10 charges Rainbow tip: Dispel Magic, 3 charges White tip: Invisibility, 5 charges Pink tip: Levitate, 5 charges
"Anyone who wishes to know, I will tell the command words for the wands." If any ask, he tells him or her.
"My belt, Ishgaran, enhances strength. My gloves, Ishgaran, improve nimbleness."
As he offers his inventory, he also quickly, in a fair hand, writes out the things he says, allowing the scroll to roll over the earlier things he has written. If any wish to look over the list, they may.
Gilan Wednesday August 10th, 2005 1:36:05 AM
Gilan smiles as the meat is delivered. He looks to Podo as he picks it up and tears into it with his teeth. He chews for just a few seconds before swallowing. "Roan buck maybe or it could just be from a tender cow....either way it is good." He offers a piece of the meat to Podo, holding it out to him. "It is just cooked on the outside lightly and very tender." He does look up as the comment is made about the evil Gargul...that was not something Grymash had ever mentioned to him, but it would make sense why. "Do you suspect trouble from them?"
He tears another large chunck off the bloody chunk of meat and swallows almost immediately. He drains part of the mug of water that was brought and then nods his head. "So we make it quick and if they bother us we make them bloodier than this piece of meat." As if that was a reminder he tears into the meat again and then shakes his head happily. Looking to Podo he smiles, with blood on his teeth and running down his chin. "The kill before the feast though is what you want...you will have to come with me sometime and we will hunt a roan buck." His eyes flash with the thought and he does not even seem to notice that he asks the next question to good Podo. "Do you like wolves...for that is what we will hunt as." The smile that spreads across his face is one of pure animalistic pleasure as he remembers the hunt.
Airin Wednesday August 10th, 2005 2:50:00 AM
"So there are more ..." Airin thinks to herself as Dander advices her to stay out of their way. We're not following them though, they appear to take an intrest in us ! And ... most likely this was the scout of that group ... "
Making use of Kendry's message spell Airin talks to the group :
"I suppose we best take one room, so we can set a guard. I know I am paranoid to the extreme sometimes, but we don't want these Evil Gargul followers to come and slice out throats allready right ? They probably won't hurt us here in this crowd though. But do you think they know why we are here ?!? "
Arm Wednesday August 10th, 2005 5:55:46 AM
Arm agrees that taking one room would be best, "It's best that we not split our forces up...at least until we know what we are up against.". He remains silent on his information for the moment until he sees if others are willing to volunteer such personal details about themselves.
Patterton Wednesday August 10th, 2005 6:18:35 AM
Patty returns to the table as well, glad to be able to finish his drink. As he stuffs some food into his mouth, he says to Airin. "Well, I'd be happy to take the first shift if you think it's necessary to post a guard, but I think we'll be fairly safe here. I'm more worried about the kind of welcome we're going to receive at the temple tommorow."
DM Kelly Wednesday August 10th, 2005 10:20:55 AM
Talk of the visitor with the Red Eye of Gargul has everyone on edge. Deciding that rushing after the priest may be unwise, everyone returns to the table. After some discussion, it is decided to take a room for the night.
Dander comes back and arranges two adjoining rooms. The night is quiet, and you awake just before dawn.
OOC: Sorry, short post. Leaving on a trip. Have had some trouble with the modem log in, in case I don't post that is why. No AIM or anything of the type.
Kendry - Activities fastidious, assiduous, melodious and informative Wednesday August 10th, 2005 3:22:30 PM
Kendry enjoys a meal. If such is possible, he avails himself of an evening bath.
Once in the rooms, Kendry asks, "Would any others care to tell what you bring to our task? Podo, Airin and Patterton I know pretty well."
[OOC: If any want, I can email you a copy of Kendry's character sheet. Inge (Airin) and Ryan (Patterton) and I already have swapped CSs. I'm at kimmccoy52 at gmail dot com.]
He uses prestigitation to ensure his clothing is spotless and neat, and offers to clean any other's clothes with the magic who so desire. While, and a bit after, waiting for others to let the party know of their resources, Kendry writes a few notes in a large book, which he places back in his haversack. He sometimes sets down his pen, takes up his lute, and plays a quiet song or two, and asks Armathen if he would like to join him. "Most of my brothers and sisters play instruments or at least sing. It's great to be able to play with another bard. What are some of the popular songs here in Plateau City?"
He asks Gilan and Nezamil what kind of music they like.
He also gets out the map of the city, and has a number of questions for Wilfire and Arm about different spots on the map, and the route to Gargul's skull-shaped temple.
"Good night, all."
In the morning, he arises, takes a few minutes to check over his gear, and offers to help anyone who needs assistance donning their armor.
"Let's get breakfast here, then head over to the shops near the temple - get what we need in the way of prayer books, garb, and information, take second breakfast, then an early lunch, then be at the temple at noon?"
DM Kelly Wednesday August 10th, 2005 7:23:56 PM
OOC: Sorry to rush you. If you had any discussions over dinner that were unfinished, go ahead and post for those. You may post twice this time, since I did.
Podo Thursday August 11th, 2005 12:54:51 AM
Podo accepts the food offering from Gilan and following his example, tears at the meat allowing the blood and other liquids to run down his face and in between his teeth. "Hmm, this is good Gilan. I'll aave to try this again soon. Wolves, are a very wise breed, so yes, I do like them, but I have never eaten one." says Podo to Gilan.
"Oh, by the way, Kendry, what makes you think I would make love to that woman? I would think that for that amount of coin, she would deserve a nice night off and some good conversation. I tell you, you have really strayed from the path of decency. I think you should take a sabbactical when this is over and go find yourself somewhere" whispers Podo to his cousin Kendry while spraying little bits of seared meat in his direction.
"This is really good food, Gilan...I'd like the opportunity to dine with you again sometime" Podo nods with great hope. "Dander, water please!" "I need to cleans my mouth so I can savor the next morsel." mumbles Podo to no one in particular.
Nezamil Thursday August 11th, 2005 1:21:43 AM
Nezamil joins the rest of the weary band and heads to their room and grabs a blanket "i think i'll grab one of the corners to snooze "
After taking his chainmail and other equipment off and stacking them neatly on the floor he settles down into the corner and observes his fellow travelers
" Kendry right? " questions the dwarf as he looks at the halfing " well as a Cleric of Domi i'm granted the ability to cast many of his spells......most of them i plan to use to help everyone in some form or another "
"As for my weapons and armor the chain and shield have been magically improved along with my heavy mace and my new heavy(repeating) crossbow " Nezamil grabs the crossbow(repeating) and holds it up " this is a new contraption that i'm training with"as he grabs a 5 round clip of bolts "with this i can fire several shots at a time " grins the dwarf " good firepower at a distance "
Setting the crossbow and clip down Nezamil taps his belt pouch " i have a few potions and scrolls of various spells plus a wand of CMW fully charged for when things get rough "grimaces Nezamil
with a nod at Kendry " good to see you have a good selction of wands will give our band plenty of options "
Pausing a moment to brush some dirt of his boots " these beautys help me move faster " grins the dwarf as he takes great care to clean his boots "plus i have a few trinkets to help magically protect myself"
" if anyone has a question on what spells Domi grants me just ask and we can discuss them "
With that the dwarf leans into the corner and observes his cohorts reaction and any input they offer.
Airin d20+1=21 Thursday August 11th, 2005 11:11:24 AM
Waking up the next morning Airin is happy nothing has happend to them during the night. Carefully she get's dressed again, putting on her jet black armor and elven cloak and boots :
"These have been given to me by my Elven mentor and will greatly help me to sneak in and out of dangerous areas to gather intell."
"I barely use wands, but master the powers of nature up to shape changing once a day. This can be most helpfull" she grins.
She observes Nezamils chainmail with dismay ... "yet another walking disco ! How do can we possibly use stealth with all that noise ?!?", she thinks to herself, yet tries to force out a lovely smile saying : "Wow that armor sure looks tough !"
"I'm hungry !"
Out she walks, going down to the inn again, joining her friends at the table preparing for another day ... in trouble ...
Rolls : Bluff : 21 (nat 20 !) vs Nezamil to persuade him she really likes his armor ;-)
Gilan Thursday August 11th, 2005 4:06:36 PM
Gilan smiles at Podo and nods his head. "Yes wolves are one wise creature and more family oriented than most other races." He tears into the meat again and swallows after a few chews. "I would never hurt another wolf...but I would love to be able to hunt in thier skin once more." You get the feeling that he was offering to turn you into a wolf earlier to go hunting.
With a puzzled look to Kendry he shakes his head. "If she so chose I would not be above spending the night with her...but I will not pay her for that." He looks around to see if she is about and smiles. "She has spirit and fire...two qualities that are most desireable in the animal kingdom." A low rumble starts in his throat and comes out as a laugh...well maybe.
With the addition of the new spell he relays the following information to the group as a whole.
I pack mostly transmutation spells...enhancers for my animal forms and the like really. My other spells are weakened due to my preference for animal forms. Now if you need a fighting form or something that is beyond the norm...then I maybe able to help out. You will be surprised what I can become.
------------------------------------------------
Later that night he lays curled up in a ball upon the floor...in front of the door leading into the room. He is up early the next morning and could be found outide upon the roof of the Red Wyrm Inn, seeming to be communing with the rising sun.
He will go with the rest to get the needed gear to go to the temple at noon. Spending time in the inn afterwards he spends some more time eating a nice big breakfast that consists mostly of meat.
Would some of you like to exchange character sheets? I am not above doing this if some want to. Just let me know with an email and I will be more than willing to make an exchange. :)
DM Kelly Thursday August 11th, 2005 6:46:11 PM
You all rise early, donning your clothing and armor in preparation for what may be a long day. Upon the suggestion of several in the group, who seem to focus more on eating than anything else, you all go down to the dining area for breakfast.
On the way, Airin compliments Nezamil on his choice of fine armor. The sincerity in her voice touches the dwarf.
The dining room is empty, as other guests still sleep. You gather at a large table and await service.
Soon, the kitchen door swings open, and Corela comes out with a tray of pasteries and boiled eggs. Upon sight of the group, she stops in mid-stride, the tray tilts precariously, but she does not drop it. Her dagger like eyes are focused on Podo, but seem to take in the whole group.
"Oh, it is you. Let me clear this up right now! I am not a whore, no matter what Dander implies. If you think I will wait upon you, laughing and turning your little noses up at me you can think again. I've better things to do."
She then turns and disappears into the kitchen, with the food.
OOC: I will post again in the morning, and again tomorrow evening, to help speed this along.

Arm looks on in bemusement at the attitude of their now "non-server", and hopes that the attitudes from now on will be better.
Patterton d20+2=14 Thursday August 11th, 2005 7:59:38 PM
Patty chuckles as the barmaid spins on her heel. "Well there goes our breakfast. I'll go sort this out." Patty walks off towards the kitchen and peeks in the door.
"Ma'am? May I have a word? Errr...I think there may have been some sort of misunderstanding. My friend made a comment that may have hurt your feelings. Now, I know him rather well and I'm sure he didn't mean it as anything but a joke. Why don't you join us for a spot of breakfast? I'm sure Dander won't mind given the circumstances."(Cha check? 14)
Kendry Thursday August 11th, 2005 10:28:10 PM
"Podo, I don't doubt that your intentions were kind and honorable - but the way you phrased it - publicly - did honor to no one, especially yourself and Corela," Kendry explains, with some hesitancy, to the son of his father's oldest brother.
"Now, will you apologize and eat the humble pie that your quick, but perhaps not altogether fully considered, words might merit? Make it up to her. Tell her you had no intention of dishonoring her - but things just tumbled out of your mouth the wrong way. Beg her pardon. Be prepared to be pelted with breakfast, if necessary - and if she does that, stand there and take it like a hobbit. Now, if she brings out knives, then it's time to dodge and exit. I'll bet a tanglefoot bag, though, that if you explain what you explained to me a little earlier, and tell her you were all wrong the way you went about it, and you know she's an honorable woman ... well, then," he says with a smile, "You might turn a foe into a friend - and, we might get breakfast. Quick. Talk to her before Patty makes it worse." With a nudge, he adds, "Brave the kitchen, Podo, brave the kitchen!"
Podo Friday August 12th, 2005 12:40:24 AM
Podo awake, dressed and walking with his companions downstair for a meal, sees the reaction lady Corela gives him and his group. Listening to the footsteps of his friend Patty, and then his kin berate him in front of others, Podo looks at Kendry and mumbles quietly as he walks towards the kitchen "If we weren't kin...Domi give me strength and wisdom, my kin can be so trying at times!!"
Podo Danderfluff Pipewood heads to the kitchen to catch up with Patterton and to resolve the issue apparent. Upon arriving at the door, he quietly pushes it open and pokes his head inside. "Er, Patterton, I'll take it from here. And would you mind allowing us a moment? "
After Patterton leaves, Podo takes a deep breath and begins. "Lady Corela? I apologize for whatever insults or embarassments I may have caused you. I meant no disrepect to you. My friends and I have journeyed long and hard to arrive here. When the big man called Dander may the suggestion, I mearly thought that you would like some time off from being a waitress and would care to be an information guide for a time. Not knowing much about the area, I thought that I would kill two birds with one stone. Give you some time off work and offer you some monies in exchange for a conversation. As a simple monk of Domi, my intentions were never anything but pure of heart. In the monastery, I took a vow of chasity, so you see, I never meant to demean you."
Podo turns and walks out of the kitchen back to his friends. If the lady turns to hit, so be it.
Nezamil d20+1=7 Friday August 12th, 2005 12:48:24 AM
Nezamil smiles at Airin " thats mighty nice of you to say " as he brushes some invisible dust off his chainmail " yep its very tough " grins the dwarf " Domi's blessing and this beautiful chain has saved my soul many times "
"I'll thank you for your kind words by buying ya breakfast " adds Nezamil
After sitting down at the table and observing the waitress's reaction " this oughta be fun to watch " laughs Nezamil " my gold is on the young lady " as he sits back in his chair " ya better be nice to her cuz i'm hungry " smirks the dwarf.
Wilfire ironhouse Friday August 12th, 2005 1:56:58 AM
"Milk sure would taste fine wit these eggs" Wilfire muttered as he gobbled up his breakfast.
OOC- sorry about the slow posting. I've had 3 interviews this week.
Airin d20+25=41 d20+10=19 Friday August 12th, 2005 3:13:36 AM
Airin's happy Nezamil did not see through her apparent amazement of his chainmail, and the fact that she's not getting a free breakfast ... euh ... if anyone can quiet down the lady that is :-)
She sits next to Nezamil at the table and while the others try to calm down Corela, Airin chats a bit with Nezamil hoping to learn some more about his past.
"Where do you belong in the Wold ? Have you really been in that many fights for you to need such a powerfull armor ?"
"Now could you turn your back to the windows ? I'd like to get to the windows unnoticed to see if someone is keeping an eye on the Inn"
Slowly the paranoid Rogue/Druid sneaks away from the table, and tries to take a peek through the windows looking for signs of those Red Gargull worshipper ...

DM Kelly Friday August 12th, 2005 8:20:46 AM
Patty disappears into the kitchen, and is soon followed by Podo. After just a few moments, Patty comes out of the kitchen shaking his head.
"She sure is mad, I hope we get breakfast."
Podo remains in the kitchen for a while longer. You hear Podo speaking, then he quietly walks out of the door. Silence, that is all you hear from the kitchen.
CRASH
The sound of dishes breaking comes from the kitchen. Your hungry bellies seem to turn, the anticipation of breakfast disappears.
Silence
Slowly the door opens, and a tearful Corela comes out, laden with a tray of meat, cheeses, bread, eggs, milk, fruits and even some Ale. She staggers under the weight of the load, but makes it to the table and sets it down with a thud.
Through her tears, she manages to get out:
"I'm sorry .... Dander, he is so mean. He says all I am good for is two things, and when I drop dishes he smiles and leers and says 'Well, I guess its the bed for you then.'"
Sobbing, she tries to compose herself.
"You seem good and decent. I should not have looked at you as I do Dander. All are not alike I guess. If you truely need a guide, then I humbly submit myself to your service. I know the city, especially the stalls and markets. I used to live on the street, and will be better off there again. I quit."
She then pulls up a chair and starts to eat, tears streaming down her face.
DM Kelly Friday August 12th, 2005 8:25:13 AM
Airin moves silently to the window, and looks about. She sees no spies in the dim predawn light.
Airin Friday August 12th, 2005 8:40:00 AM
Slowly Airin returns to the table, joining the others to finally start eating.
"No one appears to be checking out the inn. No sight of that Red Gargull follower."
"It's still early, and we only have to be at the temple by noon. Exactly how far is the temple from here Corela ?"
Gilan Friday August 12th, 2005 3:40:13 PM
Gilan watches as Podo marches into the kitchen to lay his life on the line. When he comes back in one piece he chuckles lightly to himself.
He is glad to see food come out a few minutes later but the dishes breaking had set him on edge. When Corela starts to talk he feels his hands grip the edge of the table and a low rumble growl starts low in his throat. All those around get the impression that he maybe doing something foolish in the next few minutes as his eyes narrow and the growl increases. "I will make him even less of a man than he already is." He starts to rise from his chair with a purpose.
Kendry Friday August 12th, 2005 8:32:22 PM
Quite proud of his cousin Podo (whom he knows he has irritated), his respect for him goes up even another notch. "You're a good guy, Pode."
He listens to Corela as she pours out her story. He takes his share of breakfast.
"Good Corela, we should be pleased to have you guide us in your city, and place our trust in your hands. If you will do this thing for us, we will see that you do not lose for quitting this place."
He acknowledges Airin's announcement of all clear outside the inn.
Kendry approves of Gilan's instincts. "I'm with you on that, Gilan. But I wonder at the timing. What say we travel with Corela, and do nothing that would slow us from meeting at the appointed time? She can tell us more of the story along the way ... and we can plan a suitable comeuppance - that is, a good piece of justice, when the time is ripe. Mmmm - this cheese is exquisite, Corela. The whole breakfast is great."
Once done with breakfast, Kendry pays for it for the party, and waits to make sure all are ready. "Nothing forgotten upstairs?" he asks.
"Shall we be off, then? Corela - to the market, if you please!"
Only when the group is out the door and well away from the Red Wyrm Inn will Kendry add, "We need black robes, such as might be worn by a supplicant at the temple of Gargul. And prayer books, for the same place. Would Skull Market be the best place for such acquisitions, or do you think it best, Corela, to acquire the robes or books from a place farther off?"
Patterton Saturday August 13th, 2005 12:12:37 AM
Patty smiles at Corela as she sits down, trying to cheer her up a bit. "Don't let that ugly brute get you down, ma'am. We'll pay you well for your time and that Dander can see how HE likes wearing the apron for a change." He gives her a gentle pat on the shoulder then scoops up his bastardsword and tightens the scabbord to his back. He cocks an eye at Gilan, wondering if the strange man will follow through with his intent.
Nezamil d20+12=17 Saturday August 13th, 2005 12:37:29 AM
Awaiting the outcome of Podo's excursion to the kitchen Nezamil chats with Airin "well i was born and raised right here in Plateau city down in the Dragon quarter" replies the dwarf fondly " just an amazing city to grow up in , the stories that all the travelers and adventurers would tell made me want to follow in there footsteps to see the excitment of the wold " Nezamil has a faraway look in his eyes as memories flood back " but me dad's and brothers gambling at the Golden Arena on the Gladiator matches put the family deep in debt and we lost the family black smithing business " answers the dwarf sadly " but shortly after that i found the War Cathedral of Domi and found a sense of direction and purpose among the Clerics and monks that train there "as a smile comes to Nezamils face " and ever since i've wandered the wold working in Domi's name "
"I found the courage to help and protect others and Domi in his wisdom has let me leave my footprints all around the wold "
As the scene of the waitress and Podo unfolds " there ..there Corela that was very couragous of you to make the decision to move on in life , lead us to the market and help us gather what we need and we'll see that your courage is rewarded to help you start a new path to a better life " (d20+12=17 dipomacy ch) adds the Cleric in fatherly tones
Podo Saturday August 13th, 2005 1:37:25 AM
Podo stands up when the Lady Corela arrives with food. "Glad you decided to move on with your life, Corela. You deserve much better than this, although I must say, you're food is very good; wouldn't you say Gilan?" says Podo to Corela and Gilan. "On behalf of my friends and I, We are very greatful that you, Lady Corela, have accepted our offer to guide us in the city. You will not regret this as we will do our best to help you start anew."
Podo sits down after his speech to eat some food. With all his belongings sitting by his feet in case this meal was a quick one, Podo enjoys the food, his friends, and especially their new companion.
