The torn map. (DM Jim) Wednesday August 10th, 2005 1:19:56 AM
Captain Lira and Yandana look up as the Chosen enter and then address them. Captain Lira looks to the small taur that is seated at the table and her brow furrows. "I am doing well...but Master Grith here has been trying to get me to go out on a fools errand to confront a ghost ship." Her first mate lets out a snort and then shakes her head in annoyance, as she speaks. "Fools errand is right...ohhh it is true enough of a tale...but to fight undead is someone else's job." She turns her back on the whole idea as she looks to the map once again and traces a route with her finger. Captain Lira just smiles as she looks to the Chosen again. "The young centaur here...Rill has been trying to convince us that this is a mission that they need to do to save the Taur Islands." She looks to the other Chosen for help or to see if they think this maybe the case.
Grith stands up on the chair that he had been sitting in, his tiny hooves clacking on the wood as he does. He glares at Captain Lira and then turns to the Chosen. "Fine let the piece of the map slide through your grasp...then when Vargas finds his sword then we all will be in trouble." He crosses his little arms across his robes and shakes his head in obvious exasperation. This last little bit of his speech had been said in a louder voice than would have been suggestable, but it seems that those patrons in the bar are not paying attention. It would seem that this little taur has been spouting this out so much that noone is listening...well maybe Captain Lira is. You can notice a slight show of interest in her eyes as well, but she seems reluctant to commit for some reason.
Yandana lets the others talk as she turns to Brahmah and shakes her head. "No...we have actually been here for the length that you have been gone." She grimaces at the little taur and shakes her head again as she jabs a thumb at him. "This one has been keeping the Captain busy with this ghost ship business." You can see an odd sparkle in her eyes as if she would like to at least investigate, but she is not Captain.
Over the past few days all of the Chosen have been getting the feeling that a new Chosen was to be joining them. A beautiful young filly to be exact from what little snips you got in your dreams. Seems that Domi is occupied with other things as well lately and being a little more cryptic.
Flat-top Wednesday August 10th, 2005 7:43:10 AM
The baloon of Flat-top's ego, as Brahmah ripples his bisepts. Ofcourse his bird (Paw'caw) is preeming her self, as she listens to her master voice.
But all the same flat-top will go and kiss the hand of Captain Lira, "Ahh! greeting Captain, to answer your question, Yes! we had a dream to meet a new Centaur here in port."
Flat-top pat the Goattaur (Grith) on the head,"And he also told us some thing like the black sword, that it was very important?"
To Captain Lira, flat-top ask "Maybe we could do two jobs in one ship??"
Kale Wednesday August 10th, 2005 9:32:03 AM
Kale remains sitting at the bar, observing the new centaur and the captain. when the map comes out, Kale lites up a cigerette, but remains at the bar, looking for any trouble that might disturb the conversation.
Gecktar Wednesday August 10th, 2005 10:06:41 AM
The minoraur lend a hand to the female centaur "So, be welcome among us. As said my friend Zeoll I'm Gecktar and I'm a priest of Domi. I was asking myself where I should have seen you, but now, it's clear, Domi send us dreams about you."
Phaerill Wednesday August 10th, 2005 12:12:17 PM
Rill takes Gecktar's offered hand with a smile and nod in greeting. "So now will you help me and Grith talk the stubborn captain into doing what must be done?" Her voice was light and playful, she even gave the captain a saucy wink.
Kanchana being a druidess and now a Green Mage isn't all that concerned with outward appearence; though she does keep herself lookng well kempt and clothed tidily (for phyiscal description see: www.woldiangames.com/repose).
((Welcome Julie))
Zeoll d20+20=27 d20+9=29 Wednesday August 10th, 2005 6:47:48 PM
Zeoll bows to the unusual taur. "Hello, sirr Grrith. The taurr sages of Plateau City -- Trriag, Brretch, and Otilia -- told us to seek you out. I am pleased to hearr that we arre all opposed to that foul Varrgas."
The liontaur bard/druid greets Captain Lira warmly. "You have been a grreat frriend to us in the past, Captan Lirra. I hope we can convince you to help us one morre time."
He tries to entreat the captain into bringing the Chosen to the place they have to go. [Diplomacy 27]
He also listens carefully to Grith, trying to get a hunch about the creature's character and motives. [Sense Motive 29! nat 20! Woot!]
Toros Wednesday August 10th, 2005 8:26:13 PM
Toros feels very happy to meet with old and new friends, while introducing himself. Later on, out of curiosity the barbarian/bard/cleric liontaur cannot help but give little looks at the beautiful centaur and the interesting goat-taur.
Well come Julie! Enjoy!
Solgrin Wednesday August 10th, 2005 9:43:51 PM
Solgrin looks at the ship then shudders at the thought of climbing onto a ship. Looking at the others Solgrin follows.
Solgrin turns and says to the Centaur "Greetings Phaerill." Solgrin then nudges Rozca telling her 'say hello to Phaerill.'
Resigned fate. (DM Jim) d4+4=7 Wednesday August 10th, 2005 11:29:48 PM
Captain Lira shrugs her shoulders and then points her dagger to the map of the surrounding area that lays upon the table, her dagger circles a rather large area to the east. Yandana shakes her head and then heads towards the tavern door. "I will let the crew know to be ready to sail at first light." She leaves out the door and does not look back. Having gotten later into the night the crowd in the tavern is thined out to just the barkeep.
Captain Lira smiles at her retreating first mate and laughs lightly. "She knew we would do this no matter waht." She jabs back at the invisible circle she made. "Master Girth wants us to set sail to the east and find this ghost ship...it is known to be hitting trader ships in that direction." She closes her eyes and shakes her head in thought. "We will make sure the Chosen get there but it will be up to you to do the fighting...Master Grith has agreed to pay us to get you all there...rather handsomely really." She then sits back into the chair and lets the little taur talk.
As Flat-top had reached out to pat the little taur upon the head he slams his head up. Little horns mostly hidden bite into your hand and come away bloody(7 hp damage). "Show some respect...I am old enough to be your grandfather." He smooths out his robes and then turns his attention to the group, having checked out the room already. "Part of a map that leads to the sword Vargas is looking for lays in the ghost ship Captain's hands. The other part we will talk about when we have the first piece." He looks to each to see if they have any problems with that. "Now you all know that once Marteaus and Domi fought a great battle and that Marteaus sucked the life from all those around him. Well while doing this the sword, held by one of his Captains, was drawing upon this same energy and making itself stronger. The Dark One was not aware of this at the time but with his defeat those still loyal to him hid the sword...the only way to find it was a map that they tore in half. That is what we search for at this time and if we succeed we will at least slow Vargas down." He sits down on the chair and sighs heavily. "Through the use of arcane arts that I wish I had not had to use...I found all this out." He shudders as he remembers long nights spent talking to the dead...a lot of his energy went into those sessions. "I have not found a way to destroy the sword...but it was originally made by elven hands of the blackest kind...a gift to Marteaus from those drow in the underground...for more power and to show thier support for the Dark One." He shakes his head again as he clenches his fists. "It has to have a weakness."
Zeoll finds his motives true. He really wants to help out the Chosen. There maybe an underlying reason but you feel that it might have something to do with reuniting his race with the rest. There is also the feeling that this is a test for the Chosen and though this taur may go with you...the real work will be to the Chosen alone.
Julie, will get the CS to you ASAP.
JayB, Catacombs stuff approved.
Tunc, commission from philters is also approved.
Brahmah Thursday August 11th, 2005 12:14:02 AM
The facts roll in and Brahmah is simply stunned by the amount of information everyone seems to have.
"Master Grith, I'm sure Flat-top respects you, but truthfully, your the first... gnoat? goat-taur we, I mean to say, I, have ever seen." Brahmah looks sharply at Flat-top.
"As for destroying the sword?! I say we break it over Vargas' head! That taur's head is thick enough, I'm sure."
Gecktar Thursday August 11th, 2005 3:43:42 AM
Gecktar smile at the mention of breaking the sword on Vargas head but adds "Dear Captain I don't think that his head will be sufficiently hard to break this sword. But if it has been made by the undergrown drow it shouldn't like direct exposition to sunlight. Maybe searching in this way we will find a mean to destroy it."
He turns to their new companion : "Dear Rill, if you allow me to call you Rill, what kind of skills do you have to be sure to be at you side when times will need. You will soon understand that the life of the Chosen is not a restful life" he adds with a smile.
"We should know the skills of each other so as to act as a team and exploit the best part of each. Our captain Brahmah and Flat-Top, here, are our fighters, Kale is our skillful and ressourceful taur, Zeoll has both mixed powers of arcane and divine and is a good diplomat, Toros also has mixed powers of bardic and fighting and maybe divine, please correct me Toros if I'm wrong, Solgrin is a mage, Kanchana is our mistress in healing, sister of Nature and I second her as a cleric of Domi."
"Here is the team... Hope I forget noone"
Phaerill Thursday August 11th, 2005 4:24:23 AM
Rill smiles at Gektar, "'Course you can call me Rill, I meant that all of you could call me Rill. I am a warrior....." She trails off and smiles sheepishly, "Well, maybe only a little..it has been hard to train and my sire always says I am too small to be a warrior." A small flicker of shame and regret passes across her face, but in the next moment it is gone. "I can wield magic much better, but not like a wizard who has books, it's more of a natural thing with me."
Flat-top Thursday August 11th, 2005 9:02:34 AM
Flat-top look to his bleeding hand, But to the Goat-taur named Grith, "Ahh! Yes! You may be old enough to be my grand-sire, at least He would have shaken my arm, and not butt me."
To Brahmah he tell him "Captain Lire and Captain Brahmah, I will follow First Mate Yandana to the ship, to get help fthis hand and to see to our accomadations."
Whit this said, Flat-top leaves the tavern and follows the first mate.
Zeoll Thursday August 11th, 2005 10:00:46 AM
Zeoll looks at Flat-top's wounded hand, and after the centaur retreats, says to the aged goat-taur, "Well, I am glad you arre on ourr side. If you do that to frriends, I'd hate to be yourr enemy!"
He listens to the Goat-taur's story, but it just does not ring true to him, especially the part about the creation of the sword by drow. For now, though, Zeoll holds his peace and does not contradict Grith. Maybe he is afraid of getting butted!
[OOC: Look for my e-mail on this subject.]
But Zeoll certainly agrees with the elder taur about one thing: the Sword must be destroyed.
"Let's get going," the impatient liontaur says.
Brahmah Thursday August 11th, 2005 5:46:58 PM
"Okay Flat-top." He smiles at the young centaur.
The Captain of the Chosen perks up when he hears that Rill is a warrior arcanist. "I'm truly glad you have your with the Chosen, Phaerill." His dark skin deepens in color. "I'm a warrior and I can help train you to improve your current skills... if you like."
Taking his eyes momentarily off Rill, Brahmah turns to Lira. "Looks like you saving our bacon again Captain." He smiles.
"I am completely aware that a head isn't suffiently hard enough to break a heavily enchanted, and dare I say, likely an intelligent weapon. Both must be destroyed, the weapon and Vargas alike. If I were Vargas, and the Chosen of Domi destroyed my God's legendary artifact, I'd look for them and destroy them. So the the weapon IS the PERECT bait." His expression grows darker. "I'd suggest creating a replica of the sword, using the evil sword as a template of sorts..." He stops talking, and shakes his head. "...nah, thats too complicated."
"Where was the weapon forged again? Does anyone know that?" He asks Master Grith.
Planning. (DM Jim) Thursday August 11th, 2005 10:46:53 PM
Flat-top takes off after Yandana and catches up to her a little ways down the street. They both head off to the boat to let the crew know of their mission on the morn.
Master Grith looks to Brahmah and huffs. "I will apologize to the young colt when next I see him...just tired of youngsters patting me on the head like a young gnoat." He shakes his head in annoyance and then gets back to business. "The idea of breaking the sword on this Vargas's head is appealing...but as your Captain points out impossible and just a joke." He does chuckle slightly as he thinks over something else said. "I am not sure about light...that sword has been in the world of light for way too long...gathered way too much power...I doubt that that frailty would still hold." He looks to Brahmah as he speaks to him and shrugs. "You know the spirits that I talked to would not reveal the location of the swords birth...I have often wondered about that...guess the Dark One still has a little sway over them even in death." Grumbling he nods his head with most of what is said. "We are in a race to get that sword...but I would guess that Vargas has a jump on us in this one...the sword would call to him maybe if his master willed it." He does laugh again then and wipes a tear from his eye. "Though the Dark One's gifts are usually double edged."
Captain Lira looks to Brahmah as the talks start to wind down and then yawns. "You are all welcome on my boat for the night if you wish." She looks to some of the Chosen and smiles to them. "Though I suspect that some would like to keep their hooves and paws upon the ground for just a while longer." Slipping the dagger back into it's sheath at her waist she nods. "Lets say meet at the ship at nine tomorrow...anyways those that want to stay on land till then." She waits for a few seconds and then moves towards the door of the tavern.
Master Grith slips out of the chair and yawns himself. You notice that he only stands about four foot five inches tall and cannot weigh in at more than one hundred and ten pounds. "Prepare accordingly Chosen as I do not think this Ghost Captain will be an easy fight...remember that you will be fighting him on his homeland...his ship." That seems to be a fair warning and one that would be wise to take heed of...though anyone could have thought of it.
Ceil, took note of your note to me. Have made arrangments for JayB to take over Flat-top during your absence. You will make a good showing in the ghost fight. ;)
Cayzle, will check my yahoo mail for your email as it was not in my lycos one.
Brahmah Friday August 12th, 2005 1:25:06 AM
"The sword is the goal now, I know that." He also covers his mouth hiding a yawn. "But first, we're hunting a ghost!" He looks happy at this prospect.
Phaerill Friday August 12th, 2005 2:39:48 AM
Rill beams a smile at Brahmah, "I would be honored if you would train me!" her voice is filled with youthful exhuberance.
She nods after all is said and done. "If you don't mind, I want to sleep on the ship-I think ships are just facinating!"
Solgrin Friday August 12th, 2005 2:58:39 AM
Solgrin looks to Phaerill then says "I would be interested in finding out what magic you can do so that I can prepare spells to compliment yours. Gecktar is right I am a mage but I also am a very minor fighter compared to our Captain Brahmah."
Turning to Brahmah Solgrin tells him "I will sleep here on the ship so that I can get accostomed to it."
Gecktar Friday August 12th, 2005 3:22:19 AM "So we will make a wagon for those sleeping in the ship" he says to both Phaerill and Solgrim. "I'm coming with you."
Toros Friday August 12th, 2005 3:38:01 AM
"I miss your ship a lot Captain. Let me know if you need anything on the board, but first I just a little time to finish some unfinished business. "
Email follows...
Kanchana Friday August 12th, 2005 5:37:33 AM
After Kanchana greeted Rill she had only has eyes for the ship - it hadn't been nearly long enough since last she had to sail!
Thus Kanchana made a terrible social blunder and forgot to greet Master Grith. Once the gnoat gets all irritated at been pet she sheepishly turns his way.
"Forgive my rudeness Master Grith! I was overwhelmed with dreadful memories of sailing the seas once again," Kanchana blushes feeling ashamed of her unintentional rudeness towards the gnoat, "I am Kanchana, a Warden and Green Mage of Mother Wold and a Chosen of Father Tomi. Inspite of my rude oversight I am pleased to meet you."
Kanchana muses over just how much dead wood a ship is built from as she waits in hope that Master Grith accepts her long-winded apology.
Kanchana shares in no way Rill's fascination with ships.
"If I am not needed elsewhere I would like to spend the night among the trees. I will be here just after morning meal tomorrow."
Kanchana does not add that she feels she will be of little use in this diversion, nor does she add that she has a nasty feeling that Vargas may very well be gaining ground while they are off looking for phantoms.
Kanchana will spend the night outside of town, 'sleeping' in her tree-form. Kanchana would not be going to find some ghost ship if she had a choice, she shudders at the thought of spending many, many months at sea and away from her beloved earth-bound kindred.
Because she is reluctant to go sailing and even more reluctant to go hunting for a ghost ship Kanchana will be the absolute last one to arrive before the ship makes ready to set sail.
Kale Friday August 12th, 2005 7:06:17 AM
"Goat taurs and ghost ships. What next?" Kale mutters to himself as he orders another drink. he glances at the others as they make plans to leave. after finishing his drink, he gets up and asks the captain where her ship is. once he's told he says he'll meet everyone there in the morning. after glanceing at Phaerill for a moment, he leaves the bar.
Phaerill Friday August 12th, 2005 12:12:51 PM
Rill grins and nods at Solgrin. "Well, I can detect and read magics, I can perform mior tricks, create light, slightly bolster resistences, I can make someone's next attack strike true, um lets see...ah I can create a magical protective armor, shoot flames from my hands, charm people, um...what else? I can cause one's form to blur and be harder to hit, and can greatly bolster one's strength with the spirit of the bull. " She tilts her head in thought for a moment, then nods. "Yes those are the magical spells I can cast. What kind of magic can you do?" She asks with open curiosity, but then adds quickly, "Oh! I can also scribe magic onto parchment, I have only recently learned this wonderous ability, so perhaps I could later make some for us." She seems to grow excited when talking about magic, indicating her love of it, next to her ambitions to become a great warrior.
She glances at Gektar, still smiling, "That is wonderful, that will give us a chance to get to know one another on the ship before we set sail." She looks between Solgrin and Gektar, "Perhaps we can all sit and talk later on board?"
Rill returns Kachana's greeting with a frindly one of her own, but grows slightly puzzled. "You do not like sailing upon the ships? Wht is this? It is such a unique and exciting experience! To feel the gental sway, or sudden jolt as a wave hits!" She gives an excited laugh and dances her hooves a bit in place. She waves when Kachana leaves, "Be well Kachana and see you soon!"
Rill answers Kale's rehtorical question, "I know! Isn't it exciting?" She flicks her tail across her back, sending an annoying biting fly away as she raises her hand in a wave for him as well, "See you in the morning."
OOC: DM, yes I will take the feat suggestion, I missed that one. :) Also just wanted to say a quick little aside that I am having an absolute fabulous time RP with you all and you guys are great! :)
Toros - OOC Friday August 12th, 2005 10:08:50 PM
Jim, do we have the chance to visit Catacombs to get a little bit more prepared for fighting a Ghost at sea?
To find a ghost. (DM Jim) Saturday August 13th, 2005 12:28:51 AM
Master Grith looks to Kanchana and smiles at the liontaur. He takes her hand in his own and kisses it lightly. "You are forgiven child...I could never be mad at you." It seems that despite his age, this little gnoat is also a charmer when needed.
The night is spend uneventfully for all of the Chosen as well as the crew of the GossamerWing. Everyone shows up at the dock to find Captain Lira waiting for you. She is seated upon a crate on the docks cutting slices off an apple. "Morn to ya Chosen." She looks to her boat and those that are not already aboard. "The ship is ready....when you are." She will be the last one upon the boat before she starts to give orders.
Soon the ship is sailing to the east and your destiny...well hopefully.
Cayzle, congratulations on your memory about the sword. Make a Willpower Check DC 14 for Zeoll. If he passes then he has broken completely free of Marteaus and remembers all that he was told by both gods he met. Do not think that the followers of Marteaus will give up all the secrets...they would have lied about some things anyways. :)
I may let those that want to visit the Catacombs and buy stuff. Be aware that I may not appove all that you buy though for use before the battle. You will of course need to let me know what you are buying as you may not get a transaction done before the battle.
Zeoll d20+9=13 d20+9=14 Saturday August 13th, 2005 9:47:23 AM
Zeoll has been standing silent. The words of the Grith the Gnoat have opened up memories in the liontaur.
[Rolled a 13 on my save, then burned a hero point for the reroll -- a 14! Just made it!]
"Now I am beginning to rrememberrr," Zeoll says. "When He allowed me to rreturrn to the living Wold, Garrgul himself spoke to me. He charrged me with destrroying the Black Sworrd."
A smile flashes on the liontaur's face. "Good thing that's what we intended to do with it anyway!"
Brahmah Monday August 15th, 2005 6:37:37 AM
In the morning, Brahmah meets at the ship.
He looks around at the crew and Chosen, happy that there are so many friendly faces around. He's especially happy to see Rill stayed through the night and was not frightened away. A true Chosen.
She's even beautiful in the morning. He thinks.
He moves among the Chosen and greets them with good morning, then approaches Rill. "When would you like to start your training? I thought the trip aboard ship would give us time..." He pauses, then adds quickly. "... for training that is."
Kale Monday August 15th, 2005 6:41:01 AM
seeing Brahmah's infatuation with Rill, Kale moves to the other side of the ship so he doesnt have to see their "training".
Phaerill Monday August 15th, 2005 4:27:32 PM
Rill smiles brightly at Brahmah. "And good morn to you, friend Brahmah! I would love to train with you whenever you have the time to spare for me." She paws the ground with one hoof and adds, "I have been learning to blend my magic with my combat skills...I think that perhaps magic and combat together would be stronger then either apart."
Solgrin Monday August 15th, 2005 6:36:57 PM
Solgrin sleeps his normal 2-3 hours then spends the next couple of hours studying his spellbooks preparing his spells for the day (will post preped spells later). Once Solgrin has prepared his spells he will find an open area on the main deck of the ship and practice with his spiked chain while working on mixing spells and weapon attacks.
"I have a variety of different spells that I can prepare each day. I normally like to have some combat and defensive spells ready each day. Normally I can give myself a magical barrier around myself that acts like armor, a fan of fire that spreads out from my hands, I can make myself become invisible or send a ball of fire to explode in a group of opponents. I do have several other spells that I can prepare aswell." Solgrin explains to Rill.
Kanchana Monday August 15th, 2005 7:10:45 PM
Kanchana will reluctantly board the ship and will keep to herself for the most part (partially due to hyper-queasiness); she isn't trying to be anti-social.
Most of her time will be spent meditating since this would seem to be the ideal time to spend on such solitary activities.
Weapons practice generally doesn't interest the druidess and over-enthusiastic discussions on sailing the seas might just make her stomach lurch! Rill will probably not get a favorable impression of Kanchana during this journey...
Kanchana would like to speak with Master Grith some more, if he deigns to speak with her that is. Most of the Chosen should be generally used to Kanchana's "ship board behaviour".
A pirate ghost ship. (DM Jim) Tuesday August 16th, 2005 12:20:14 AM
Captain Lira soon has all the Chosen aboard her boat and sets sail. After they have made it out far enough she has the ship turned to the east. The crew goes about thier daily work as the day wears on.
Brahmah finds himself working on swordsmanship with Rill and finds her capable if not a little weak in weapon use, but that tends to happen when you focus on magic. Soon though he has her holding her own at least one out of five times against him, though Rill has an idea that at times he is holding back.
Kale has found a nice spot off to the side of the ship and watches the sea. He spots whales swimming some twenty feet from the boat, playing and calling to each other.
Solgrin has found a clear area to play around with his chain and work his spells into his combat. He finds that a few hours into it he is starting to get a little tired but feeling good with his progress.
Kanchana finds herself below deck in the room that they stayed in on the first trip. Master Grith is also there, when she finds him he is meditating and looking a little green. "Please join me...it may help to talk some to keep my mind off this ship and rocking." He is seated upon the floor and trying his best to remain as motionless as possible.
Zeoll finds a spot at the front of the ship and also watches the sea. Most of his mind is turned to the things that he remembers about being brought back to life. It dawns upon him that what he has done in Marteaus's name was beyond his control...he is a god after all. This brings him a small measure of peace and the gentle rocking of the ship helps lull him.
Toros and Tunc are talking near the main mast of the ship. They have been trying to come up with a battle plan that will help them in this coming up battle. They know at least partly what they will face...but how much protection and the like the ghost ship will have is unknown.
Flat-top has not been seen on the deck of the ship or for that fact all day long...or that morning. Anyone that thinks about it will realize that Yanadana has not been seen for some time either, till just a few minutes ago.
As the day wears into late evening you hear a yell from the crowsnest and see a drow pointing out to sea. Then you hear the sound of battle in the distance, carried upon the waves. Anyone that races to the front railing or is already there notices the outline of two ships in the distance. One seems to be on fire and near the other one. The other one draws your attention though as the sails are tattered and almost unusable. There also seems to be an appearance of gloom around the ship or fog.
The GossamerWing is still some distance from the ship but should be able to pull up on it with a half-hours time. The ship the Chosen sail on must fight the wind to a percentage to reach the other ships. If that is a merchant ship will you be able to save it from the ghost ship...or will they become part of the crew?
Gecktar Tuesday August 16th, 2005 3:36:18 AM
Gecktar seeing the ship on fire in a distance realize that many men should need help and courage. He turns to captain Lira hoping she will tell her crew to hurry to save as many people as possible.
Some of them are certainly in the water now and should be rescued as soon as possible.
Flat-top [sub Jay] Tuesday August 16th, 2005 6:27:11 AM
(OOC: Sorry about not posting for Flat-top, I forgot, don't tell Ceil.)
Flat-top finds duties aboard ship to do. He glances at Rill and Brahmah talking and stamps away in a huff. Though he seems as happy as last night for some reason.
Brahmah Tuesday August 16th, 2005 6:33:33 AM
The Captain of the Chosen does indeed hold back from Rill, however, several times she managed to make a great defense on her own.
He tells Rill, "You'll get there soon. Your finding the zone, but dropping your right flank when you swing and that'll open you up for harm." He doesn't have the heart to tell her that he knows all too well about centaur fighting techniques, having studied them very carefully.
Brahmah seems to be able to 'read' her movements prior to her making them. He seems TOO good against centaurs to be coinsidence.
Kale Tuesday August 16th, 2005 6:48:13 AM
already sitting up front, Kale is one of the first to spy the two boats. he'll pull out his bow and ready it, just in case the captain decides to take a closer look.
Brahmah Tuesday August 16th, 2005 8:37:05 AM
Having not noticed the ship initially, Brahmah now takes notice of Kale. He pulls and strings his own bow and prepares.
He looks around for a vat of tar or oil to rig up a flame arrow of sorts.
Phaerill Tuesday August 16th, 2005 1:21:44 PM
Rill wipes sweat from her brow and shivers her hide slightly. She takes a deep breath as Brahmah pauses to explain her dropping of her flank. He is more then good, it's like he can read my thoughts and knows what I will do before I do it.
She tilts her head when another thought suddenly hits her, but this she voices out loud, "You have much experience fighting agains't centaurs, don't you Brahmah?"
Watching his sudden turn, she looks towards Kale as well, and then further to the ships. Her eyes widen and she quickly takes up her own bow, but sets is aside. When the ship gets closer her hands start to weave a complicated series of gestures even as she softly mutters an encantation.
When finished she steps up beside Brahmah, "When we get closer, do you wish me to cast a spell to greatly enhance your strength, or to blur your form?"
OOC: Casting Mage Armor upon myself.
Zeoll d20+6=12 Tuesday August 16th, 2005 3:03:07 PM
Zeoll spends the day in prayer and meditation, trying to put together the memories of his interactions with gods.
Then he sees the two ships in battle. There is nothing Zeoll can do but watch in frustration as the GossamerWing gets slowly closer.
He scans the waters looking for dolphins or sharks or any other sea animal in the water (spot check 12).
When the ship is about a minute away, he casts Barkskin on himself.

Toros Tuesday August 16th, 2005 7:19:03 PM
<<Jim, Thanks for the post, I love it! Sorry to be late, a bit busy nowadays>>
Toros and Tunc realizes there is not much time left so they leave talking aside and try to get ready with what they have at hand at the moment.
Toros takes an Endure Element scroll and casts on himself. Tunc helps the liontaur check his equipment one last time, wishes him good luck, and tell him to be careful before he leaves.
<How long does the activation of a seal, for instance seal of flying, take? I do not know well how we activate it...>
Tunc, you are looking at a free action really. I may allow the activation of two seals in as free actions, but not more than that. :)
Toros, addendum Tuesday August 16th, 2005 8:03:27 PM
And Chosen, these were the items from the last loot.
Have we determined yet who would keep which item? Any suggestions?
Kanchana d20+5=7 d20+4=17 Tuesday August 16th, 2005 8:06:13 PM
Seeing that Grith is looking a tad greenish Kanchana will brew up some of the tea she makes to abate the worst effects of queasiness. She will pour two cups and offer the gnoat one.
Kanchana will also make polite conversation and will share what little she knows of the oddities in Nature with Master Grith if he shows any interest for the subject. She will also happily discuss herbalism if given half a chance.
Kanchana has not been paying much attention to any shipboard sounds or activities; her only clue to any trouble brewing will be if someone comes down to tell her, or if the ship makes a dramatic change in course!
(Rolling spot just in case I needed it to see the greenish pallor (rolled 7!). Listen 17. I presume that she will not hear any sounds of far off battle while within the bowels of the ship.)
((Toros I think I remember that there was a suggestion that anyone who could wield a healing wand would get one of the party ones (I don't know if type of wand was mentioned).))
Engagement. (DM Jim) Tuesday August 16th, 2005 11:02:44 PM
The GossamerWing gets closer as the fire spreads upon the deck of the merchant ship. Brahmah finds that there are not vats of oil or tar upon the ship deck, but there is a bucket of dirty water. Most of the Chosen rush to the front rail of the ship to get a better look and get ready for what is to come.
As the ship closes to within ten feet of the merchant vessel, putting the other ship some thirty feet away, you are struck with the sudden stinch. It is overpowering from even this distance. Dead lay about on the deck of the merchant ship as several men fight on with small groups of skeleton warriors. You notice that a few dead bodies have been taken over to the other ship and lay in a pile of maybe a dozen. The water around the merchant ship is awash in tinges of red and you notice fins running the water. It would seem that some have jumped in to escape one form of death and into the jaws of another one.
The other ship is a mess of mold and holes from old battles. It is amazing that it would even be able to float at all and that fog that hangs around it is unnerving. The stench of death is even worse and you have the feeling that light is being sucked away from the area as you get closer and things get darker.
Kanchana below with Master Grith has made a lovely tea. Master Grith is quick to take a cup and nurses it as he feels the effects settle his stomache, he gives a wane smile. "Thanks for that...my race is more at home in the mountains than at sea." He falls into talks of nature, magics and herbalism with Kanchana. She finds out that there is a small stirnging plant that use to grow in the mountains in the Taur Islands, maybe it still does, that was widely used in making healing drafts. The gnoats have also come up with a antitoxin that is based upon other poisons that will indeed cure most poisons, but some of the ingredients are hard to get...very dangerous to aquire really.
The GossamerWing is soon within range of the merchant ship, eight feet, and planks are started to be dropped by some of the crew. Captain Lira shows up at the side of the ship with her first mate. "Yondana...make sure that as many of those people over there are saved as possible." Looking to a few of her crew she nods her head and they come forward. Yandana starts across with five of the crew in tow, as she speaks out. "Ladies...do not engage the enemy unless you really have to...save those that are still alive and closest first by getting them aboard the Wing." She looks to Brahmah and gives him a smile and nod as she moves to the other ship. "This is the Chosen's mission on the other side but we can try and save this crew."
Gilles, before this you could have bought as many as four holy waters from the ship...20 gold apiece but from the god Alemi. You could get some silver shaved down if you want or do it yourself for free...otherwise it will cost 2 silver to shave down 25 coins if you provide them or 27 silver if they are provided by the GossamerWing. :)
Map will be coming tomorrow. Have to see about putting one together that I like and is easy to ready.
Toros Wednesday August 17th, 2005 12:00:49 AM
Toros activates the seal of flying, enabling all the Chosen and other friends ability to fly for 10 minutes (as in the description of the Fly spell) and waits to see what his friends will do
Kanchana Wednesday August 17th, 2005 1:38:19 AM
Kanchana feels the ship stop moving; in fact it bumps into something! Her stomach feels like it has knotted itself up and her skin turns cold as she immediately has a nasty feeling that something is not right. (She is of course ignorant of the boarding for the moment).
"Master Grith, please stay here. I am going to hear with the others what is happening," Kanchana disappears up the stairs.
The first thing she sees is practically everone crowded to on side, immediately there after she smells the apaulling stench of dead things. Kanchana holds a hand to her mouth and takes deep, calm breaths to steady her stomach. 'Brilliant!'
Without seeking any further information (every one seems too busy to ask questions of) she goes back down the stairs and tells Grith of what she has seen, she also adds that knowing the Chosens' luck it will most likely result in a fight.
Gecktar AC 20/22 HP 54 Wednesday August 17th, 2005 3:51:36 AM
While the Gossamer Wing approaches the fight, Gecktar mutters some prayers to Domi so as to have better chances for the coming fight.
First of all he takes his shield and draw holy symbols of Domi on it. It suddenly appear brighter and more polished than ever. Second he takes his holy symbol and raise it above he head while saying prayers to Domi. Sparkles of light emerge from the symbol surrounding him in a large circle of protection. Third, he takes three pebbles and scribe strange writings on them and they seems to warm for simple stones. Fourth he takes from his backpack a flask of holy water, open it and with prayer to Domi and Alemi and incorporate some silver in it. Then the material component for the last spell is ready.
When he feels that he has some flying ability he knows that the time has come for the fight. They must eliminate those aberrations !
He turns to Kale an with a touch of his hand give him some of the strength of Domi, and then follow the first liners when they start.
"Think to retreat near me when things are going wrong. They should not be able to reach me and those near me !" he says to the Chosen "And their skills will be lessened when I will cast the last spell !"
OOC 1 Spell cast : magic vestment (+2 to the shield), magic circle against evil (10' radius), magic stones, Bull's strength to Kale who has now +4 to his strength for 5 minutes.
OOC 2 Spend the 80 gp for holy water and 108 gp for 4 silver 'doses'
OOC 3 dear Chosen, remember to show your current status to help healer's work.
Kale AC 22, Hps 66(Fly, Bulls Strength) Wednesday August 17th, 2005 6:49:56 AM
feeling power infused throughout his body, Kale takes off and begins to fly over the ghost ship. "What am I looking for?" Kale yells to the others as he rises from the deck.
Brahmah (AC 25, 83/83 hps) d20+4=22 Wednesday August 17th, 2005 11:24:38 AM
He doesn't look at Rill, but replies. "Nah, thanks though. Save the spell for yourself." He seems to be focused all of a sudden.
Brahmah looks up at Kale as he flies over. "See if you can find a good grapple hook, would you?" Once he has a grapple or a gaffer hook, he snags the other ship. (Profession check sailor 22, to remember how things go when boarding a ship on open water.)
Flat-top [sub Jay B] Wednesday August 17th, 2005 11:26:40 AM
Flat-top helps Brahmah with the sailor duties, as he was a Royal Marine years ago. "This is what I like... the uncertain ghost ships and adventure." He turns and winks to Kanchana and then Rill.
Phaerill (AC 22, HPs 53/53) [Mage Armor] Wednesday August 17th, 2005 12:47:25 PM
Rill nods to Brahamah. She quickly begins a new incantation [Blur] upon herself. When finished she uses the flying ability to leap into the air (leaving the bow on board) and flies to the beleagered ship, looking for those she may save, while using her spear to threaten anything that may come her way. She will allow the sailors to slip up upon her back so that she may bring them back over to the ship and saftey.
Solgrin (AC18, HP35/35, Fly) Wednesday August 17th, 2005 4:35:17 PM
Solgrin casts hasteon several of the Chosen (Brahmah, Kale, Toros, Gecktar, & Flat-top)
Solgrin then starts to ready himself for what looks to be possibly a fierce battle.
Toros AC 29 HP 61 (Fly, Mage Armor, See Invisibility) Wednesday August 17th, 2005 9:16:41 PM
Toros will also get ready for the upcoming fight by first drinking a mage armor potion and philter of see invisibility. Then, having started flying, the Taur will follow after Kale to the ship.
OOC: For the healing wands, I suggest then Zeoll to take one CMW wand. Toros could also take the CLW and CMW, if everyoneelse would agree. The CL 12 scroll would be best with Gektar, I think. What about the neutralize poison wands and potions?
Zeoll (barkskin) Wednesday August 17th, 2005 9:50:35 PM
Zeoll flies into the air over the merchant ship. He looks for undead. If he sees any, he starts to cast a Summon Nature's Ally II (spell will finish at the start of his turn next round).
If he does not see any, they he start singing a song to encourage the crew of the merchant ship as well as the Chosen.
[OOC: Zeoll already has a party wand of CLW]
Battle on the high seas. (DM Jim) Thursday August 18th, 2005 12:59:20 AM
Master Grith agrees to stay below deck and sips his tea as Kanchana leaves. He knows that this is not his battle and he has been charged by the council to not use his magics unless a dire situation. Kanchana comes back down a few minutes later to let Master Grith know that the Wing is helping out a merchant ship under attack by what appears to be a ghost ship.
Those on the ship make thier own preparations and then start to move out onto the merchant ship. Yandana leads her five crew members to start helping those remaining merchants that can be gotten to easily back to the Wing.
Toros activates a seal on his body and waits to see what the others will do before he makes a move of his own.
The minutes tick by as Gecktar sets up his defense for the coming fight and then lets the Chosen know what he has done. He has one last trick to play as well but it will need to wait.
Kale takes off and flies a little ways out over the merchant ship, but stays above water. He calls out to see what he is looking for.
Brahmah waves off the spell from Rill and then looks for a hook to get the other boat but finds that the crew of the Wing have already done so and are boarding the other boat already.
Flat-top is ready for a little adventure and a battle and is not afraid to say so, which is what he does. He then prepares himself for battle.
Rill sets herself up with a pair of spells and takes off towards the merchant ship, that they are now attached to. She moves to get merchants further away from the ones that Yandana can get to easily.
Solgrin is able to just move himself to get those he wants within the effects of his haste spell. He waits to see what he can do next as he scans the deck of the merchant ship.
Toros sucks down a pair of potions but finds that one does not work the way he wants it too. (mage armor will not stack with normal armor bonuses, they are the same bonuses)
Zeoll also takes off to fly over the merchant ship. He takes in the events unfolding upon it and starts a spell of his own.
You all can see at merchants, totaling nine, being stalked by a group of skeletons. The skeletons are spread out across the ship and seem to be trying to drive the merchants into corners. A quick count puts the skeletons upon the merchant ship at twelve, armed with longsword and shield...they also wear mixed armors as well. One merchant has crawled out onto the long beam that sticks out the front of the ship and is clinging on for his life.
Please refer to the map that I am sending out as it will help you out greatly and provide some information that I may not.
Everyone can fly because of the seal that Toros activated that allows everyone to fly.
Jay, will send you a copy of Flat-tops CS as well. It maybe a little out of date as I am sure that Flat-top has made 8th by now. Seems that I do not have an updated one for that though. :(
Spells in Effect: fly(10min), magic vestment, magic circle, bull's strength, mage armor, blur, haste, see invisibility. Please give me lengths on how long spells will last so that I can keep track as well. :) Remeber 6 second rounds of combat and all.
Kanchana Thursday August 18th, 2005 3:28:30 AM
"You will be staying here Master Grith?" Kanchana asks the gnoat; concern for his safety evident in both her tone and her body language.
"I have to join the others topside, though I won't be much good at this ship to ship stuff. Surely something I can contribute might come in handy." (She is not referring to her role as party bandaid of course)
Kanchana goes back up the stairs. Once she can see the scirmish she takes time to study it to see if there is anything she can do to help the beleaguered merchants out. Her spells are not all that useful for this type of situation.
Kanchana asks Mother Wold for assistance from her children (summon nature's ally lvl2; burning her flaming sphere spell). Kanchana asks for asistance from one of the denizens of the plane of water.
(summoning a small water elemental (11hp), MM 3.5 pg 100; attack: slam +4 melee (1d6+3), spec attacks: drench, water mastery, vortex (DC 13, 1d4, 10-20ft high/deep vortex), power attack)
((P.S. I haven't recieved any maps yet, so I have no idea about range.))
Toros AC 29? (+3 Fight Defensively) HP 61 (Fly, Mage Armor, See Invisibility, Endure Elements) d20=3 d6=1 d6=2 Thursday August 18th, 2005 4:15:25 AM
Toros flies to K3 taking his holy symbol to his hand. Standing just next to the long beam, he attempts to turn the skeletons. It is his first attempt to turn undead, he is already so much excited with everything going on all around, and he feels there could be something wrong with his attempt...
(Oh well, nice start with a d20, 3 + 2 charisma, +2 synergy from knowledge of religion = 7 as the turning check result. The Max HD of turnable undead is 1, as Toros is a level 2 cleric! If this is enough to turn any skeleton total turning damage is also 7 (2d6, 3 (1+2) + 2 cleric level + 2 charisma bonus!!))
Meanwhile, he calls to the Merchant crawling out onto the long beam "Hey, dont worry, you will be safe! Can you ride on my back, I can carry you to a safer place." Floating on the air, the Taur equals the level of his torso and the ship so that the Merchant can easily side step and sit on his back.
spells duration: endure elements 24 hours, mage armor, 1 hour, see invisibilty, 30 minutes, fly 10 minutes after the DM post "Battle on the high seas"
Brahmah (AC 25, 83/83 hps, FLY) d20+13=15 d20+8=28 d20+8=21 2d4(4+1)+7=12 2d4(1+4)+7=12 Thursday August 18th, 2005 5:55:20 AM
Being rather slow on the uptake, he realizes the others are already boarding.
He draws his weapons and moves onto and over the plank to the other ship. (Moves to L10) He strikes at the skeleton. [AC 15 and 28, for 12 and 12 damage]
Flat-top [sub Jay B] (AC 22, 85hps) Thursday August 18th, 2005 5:58:24 AM
The centaur moves in behind Yandana, pulling his morningstar.
OOC: Dominic Thursday August 18th, 2005 10:36:06 AM
don't forget that some of you are hasted.
[OOC: Great map, Jim! My only quibble -- us Taurs should take up 10x10 spaces on it, right?]
Finishing the spell he started last round, Zeoll summons a large dire bat to squares O-P-5-6, 15 feet above the deck level. Zeoll points at the skeleton at 5J and shouts to the dire bat to attack.
The dire bat attacks the skeleton, diving (+1 to hit) and charging (+2 to hit). It dives down to K-L-5-6 and misses the skeleton (hits AC10! Darn!).
As his Dire Bat is attacking, Zeoll uses his Pearl of Power to recall a second level spell and uses it to cast another Summon Nature's Ally II. This time Zeoll uses his Metamagic Rod of Extend on the spell. That means the creature he summons will appear not next turn, but at the start of the turn after that! (metamagic effects lengthen the casting time of spontaneously cast spells.)
Spells in effect: Dire Bat (AC18 (due to charge) HP30, round 1 of 3. Barkskin lasts 300 rounds
Gecktar AC20/22 hp 54 d20+2=18 2d6(2+1)+5=8 Thursday August 18th, 2005 4:25:02 PM
Gecktar fly into the melee going L8. There he draws his holy symbol and call for Domi's might to crush those abominations.
"By the power of the true Gods retunr to the hell you leaved" he says
Turn check 18 for max HD = 7 Damage 8HD of undead with 7HD are turned
Magic vestment +1 (5 hour) Magic circle against evil (49 min & 9 rounds) Bull's strength on Kale (4 min and 9 rounds) Magic stones (29 min & 9 rounds)
Phaerill (Ac 22, HPs 53/53) [Mage Armor-5 hours, Bulls Strength-5 minutes, Blur-5minutes] Thursday August 18th, 2005 10:02:49 PM
Rill flies over the ship, towards those Merchants that the crew won't be able to immediately help. She lands near a merchant (N18). "Quickly! On my back, I shall carry you to safty!" She offers the man a hand to climb up onto her back. She keeps a nervous eye on the very near flames, as well as the skeletons not too far away.

Kanchana comes back up on deck to find the Chosen making thier way over to the merchant ship. She steps to the railing and begins the call to the plane of water for assistance of a water elemental.
Toros pulls out his holy symbol and presents it before the skeletons with a purpose. He finds that despite his best efforts the skeletons closest to him do not even seem phased as they do not turn and run or cower.
Brahmah comes flying in on the skeleton right before him. His weapons humm as he brings them to bear upon the skeleton. He finds his falchion grazing thin air just barely missing the creature but his kukri finds its mark.
Flat-top pulls out his morningstar and follows along behind Yandana who reaches the first merchant.
Zeoll brings his dire bat into being and directs it at a skeleton as well, trying to aid the crew of the merchant ship. His bat dives at the skeleton and misses but comes up on the other side still within range of the skeleton.
Gecktar pulls out his holy symbol as well and calls upon the powers of Domi. He sends two of the skeletons closest to the railing running back across the ship. They stop at the halfway point and then seems to consider, then turn back around.
Phaerill flies across to the merchant ship near the back to help get merchants off to safety. She calls to the merchant who turns and runs in her direction, a skeleton following.
Solgrin seems to be stunned by all that is going on as he just stands there and tries to figure out his next move.
Kale is likewise stunned with the horror before him or maybe it is the stench of the undead. Never the less he floats in midair looking around at the merchant deck.
------------------------------------------------
The merchant(K1) out on the front of the ship listens to Toros and tries to turn around but loses his grip and falls the fifteen feet to the ocean below. The water is soon a churning area of white and red as the sharks converge upon his helpless form. You hear a gurgled yell before it is cut off.
The two merchants(H7&I7) find themselves cut off by the skeletons in front of them and the fire behind them. They have nowhere to go and look on frightened as they brandish clubs at the undead.
These two merchants(F14&F15) find that they are on the wrong side of the ship to be gotten to fast. They look behind them and see the ghost ship behind them and sharks in the water, they suddenly seem resigned to the idea that they are about to die. They both swing clubs at the skeleton before them hoping that maybe thier luck will change.
A merchant(F18) finds himself backed into a corner by the slow advancing skeleton before him as well. He knows that he has little room left to run and that his number is about up.
The other merchant(M18) runs to get to Rill as she hollers at him. He cannot see a way for him to get upon on her back though as the fire and the side of the ship prevent that. He does not notice the skeleton that has stalked up behind him.
One merchant(R13) has made it safely upon the deck of the Wing and slumps to the deck in exhaustion. He seems unworried about anything right now but his own hide.
The last merchant(M13) catches a break as the skeletons run away and he is able to make his way up by Flat-top.
------------------------------------------------
Skeletons(J7&I8) bring longsword in at the merchant before them, leaving two long slashes in the merchant...though he does not fall he does not look to be in good shape.
Skeletons(H8&G7) also slash into thier merchant, who suddenly does not look to be in the greatest of shape.
Skeletons(J9&J11) turn and run away from the fight but stop and turn at the masts of the merchant ship. It would appear that they have had a change of heart.
Skeleton(J5) turns slightly and stabs his sword at the dire bat that just attacked him[hit: 27 and damage: 5].
Skeleton(G14) stabs at the merchant before him drawing a line of crimson blood from the man.
Skeleton(G15) also stabs at the merchant before him but finds his weapon turned away by a lucky block.
Skeleton(G18) stalks his merchant down and slashes at him as the man turns to try and defend himself. The man's hand is lopped off and he is now screaming in pain.
Skeleton(L16) moves towards the stairs that lead to the lower deck.
Skeleton(L18) drives his sword throught the back of the merchant that had reached Rill. A spray of blood smacks onto Rill's blurred form, but the merchant seems to still be alive...if barely.
Sorry Tunc but mage armor does not stack with regular armor. It is the same thing with a bracer of armor as well. They both give the same type of armor bonus. It says this in the PHB under armor. Sorry.
Cayzle, yeah I know but it makes it easier to have only five foot squares on the map. I always take into account the size differences with you taurs but right now nothing is causing a problem. :)[b]
Zeoll (AC19 HP53 Barkskin) and Dire Bat 1 (AC20, HP25 of 30) d20+5=16 d8+4=12 Friday August 19th, 2005 7:06:48 AM
[OOC: Good answer on the size thing, Jim. I got no problem with that!]
Zeoll continues to cast his Extended Summon Nature's Ally II. The spell will be complete at the very beginning of his next turn.
Dire bat 1 bites at the skeleton in J5 -- hits AC16 -- just what he needed! -- for 12 points!
[OOC: Jim, do these skeletons, like standard skellies, have damage reduction 5/bludgeoning? Since a bite is bludgeoning damage, the full amount of the dire bat's damage should apply.]
Spells in effect: Dire Bat (AC20 HP25 of 30), round 2 of 3. Barkskin lasts 298 rounds
Brahmah (AC 25+1hasted, 83/83 hps, FLY, HASTE) d20+11=18 d20+11=21 d20+12=28 d20+6=7 d20+7=8 2d4(4+3)+7=14 2d4(4+4)+7=15 d6+4=6 Friday August 19th, 2005 10:53:06 AM

She turns around and gives a halfhearted kick towards the skeleton (not sure if she can, but rolled a 11 so guess it doesn't matter:) ) Rill jumps into the air and flies back towards the ship, to deposite the wounded merchant at Solgrin's feet.
Kanchana Monday August 22nd, 2005 1:33:32 AM
Kanchana asks the water elemental to put out the fire on the merchant ship.
She then burns another spell to summon yet another water elemental (summon nature's ally lvl 2).
(See elemental stats from my previous post.)
Kanchana has little talent with animals and does not want to swim with the sharks so she does not try to influence them in any way.
Brahmah (AC 25+1hasted, 83/83 hps, FLY, HASTE) d20+12=31 d20+12=20 d20+13=15 d20+7=23 d20+8=16 2d4(4+2)+7=13 2d4(2+1)+7=10 d6+4=8 2d4(2+2)+7=11 d6+4=10 Monday August 22nd, 2005 4:02:31 PM
Brahmah continues his attack. (AC 31(hasted action), 20, 15, 23 and 16, for 13, 10, 8, 11 and 10 damage)
He will break up the attack if a target falls.
Battle at high seas, 3. (DM Jim) d20+10=19 d20+10=29 d20+10=29 d20+10=18 d20+10=19 d20+10=16 d20+10=17 d6+3=5 d6+3=7 d6+3=6 d6+3=8 d6+3=7 d6+3=6 d6+3=8 d6+3=4 Tuesday August 23rd, 2005 1:37:50 AM
Zeoll starts the process of summoning up another creature that can aid him and the Chosen in battle. His dire bat makes another dive at the skeleton, smacking it in the head as it flies by and leaves teeth marks in the skull.
Brahmah moves forward and brings his weapon to play upon the skeleton, hoping that he can deal it enough damage to break it to pieces. His falchion strikes true twice and his kukri once, tearing pieces of bone off the skeleton.
Gecktar drops his shield and launches one of the little bullets he has in his hand at the closest skeleton. The little missile connects, dealing a nice amount of damage.
Solgrin flies a little higher and then launches a volley of magic missiles into one of the skeletons.
Kale dives down to land upon the deck of the ship near one of the skeletons that threatens a merchant. The positioning allows him a good shot at the things back that is turned to him.
Toros is stunned and does nothing as he watches the one merchant fall into the water. The sharks had made short work of him and it is not a pretty sight for him.
Flat-top moves and blocks the one skeleton from coming down the stairs. His morningstar leads the charge and scores a bonecrushing blow to the undead.
Phaerill pulls the merchant onto her back from the railing side, so as to not burn him in the flames. She decides to retreat instead of anything and soon has the merchant upon the upper deck of the GossamerWing.
Kanchana calls out commands to her elemental wanting it to put out the fires on the deck. The elemental goes to work upon the nearest fire, becoming a whirlwind of water that smothers the flames. As that elemental goes to work she starts to call upon another one to be of even more assistance.
------------------------------------------------
The skeleton(J5) swings his sword a the dire bat again with single-mindedness(hit: 19 and damage: 5).
The skeleton(G7) stabs at the merchant before him but finds his attack blocked by the merchant who seems to be defending and hoping the Chosen can save him.
The skeleton(J8) moves down and then throws himself off the upper deck at Brahmah, his sword leading the way(hit: 31 and damage: 12).*Brahmah has an AoA*
The skeleton(K8) moves down and stabs his sword at Kale intent on killing and adding another dead to the crew(hit: 29 and damage: 7).*kale has an AoA*
The skeleton(J7) turns and stabs at Kale though it is looking to be in pretty bad shape, bones cracked and all(hit: 18 and damage: 6).
The skeleton(K10) moves around the mast and comes at Brahmah with his own sword(hit: 19 and damage: 8).*Brahmah has an AoA*
The skeleton(J11) moves away from his merchant captive to help in the fight against the Chosen.
The skeleton(G14) moves to the side slightly with his sword brandished at the two merchants. He does not attack though as he keeps them trapped.
The skeleton(G18) stabs in at the merchant before him, striking a blow that tears the man's stomache open. Guts spill out upon the deck of the ship and the skeleton turns slightly sword raised.
The skeleton(L16) moves to the stairs to find them blocked and receives a wicked morningstar attack for his troubles. Undaunted he thrusts his sword in at the centaur before him with all the strength of the undead(hit: 16 and damage: 7).
The skeleton(K16) moves away from the corner that he had the merchant trapped in, untill a flying centaur rescued him. He thrusts his sword at Flat-top as well as he nears the steps(hit: 17 and damage: 6).
The skeleton(J9) is torn to pieces by the blades of Brahmah and the bullet tha was thrown by Gecktar finds only remains to strike.
Skeleton AC 16
------------------------------------------------
The two merchants closest to Kale find themselves getting a little aid. The fall into total defense and keep the swords at bay.
The two merchants(F14/F15) find they are still menaced by a skeleton and holler for help that they see upon the deck of the merchant ship.
Another two merchants make it to the deck of the GossamerWing and are safe...for now.
The merchant trapped in the far corner finds that his light is fading. He only has a moment to look down at the entrails that pour out upon the deck and then he slumps to the deck.
Sorry for no Friday post and this one being so late. Got a call from a friend that needed help with twelve scouts on a camping trip. Spent Friday night, Saturday, Sunday and at least half of today with twelve nine year old boys that wanted to earn badges. :)
Kanchana (51/51HP, 19AC) d20+6=10 Tuesday August 23rd, 2005 3:19:53 AM
Kanchana asks one elemental to extinguish the fire burning at NM17 and the other to extinguish the fire burning at LM7. She really doesn't want the fires to jump to the Gossamer Wing.
Kanchana makes a mental summary of her spells and realizes that they aren't all that useful against skeletons; neither is her bow.
Kanchana whips out her scimitar and will afterwards fly over towards the single skeleton (G14) attacking the two merchants.(Hits AC 10 - a miss I would think!)

With holy fury Gecktar hits the Skeleton (in K8) trying to do as much damage as possible with his hammer he now holds with his two hands.

Toros AC 26 (+1 Haste) HP 61 (Fly, Mage Armor, See Invisibility, Endure Elements) d20=18 Tuesday August 23rd, 2005 4:57:06 AM
Shaking the impacts of the horrible scene Toros gather his wits again to see what he can do to save the other still-alive merchants. Then with the help of Solgrin's haste, he speeds up towards the skeleton at G14. Approaching from G13 Toros charges the skeleton for bull rush, trying to push it back first 5 ft then further to the fire at G16. (Bullrush check result is 25 with haste I guess)
Ih his bullrush attempt is not successful he will activate his ring of force shield for further protection. (+2 shield bonus)

Zeoll's second summons concludes with the appearance of a second dire bat above the decks at H5. Bat #2 makes a charging dive at the skelly in J5, flanking it with the other bat. Bat #2 gains +2 charging, +1 att from above, and +2 flanking, for a total of +5. It attacks and hits (AC28) for 5 hp damage.
Dire Bat #1 (who is missed last round) also attacks, with a +2 flanking bonus. It misses. It will disappear just before Zeoll's next turn, but until then it holds its space, keeping that skelly from Solgrin, maybe.
Zeoll casts Speak with Animals and flies (40 feet) down and over sharks. "Stop! Please do not eat these! I will give you fish if you stop eating people." (Wild Empathy 9 is a natural one! Darn!)
Spells in effect: Speak with Animals, round 1 of 30 Dire Bat (AC18 HP30 of 30), round 1 of 6. Dire Bat (AC20 HP25 of 30), round 3 of 3. Barkskin, round 4 of 300

Zeoll sends both of his dire bats after the same skeleton. The one succeeds with its bite while the other one flies by harmlessly. Zeoll then speaks to the sharks that are circling in the water but for his trouble a pair of sharks launch themselves out of the water snapping at him, but missing.
Brahmah once again tears into the skeleton that came up beside him. His weapons knock large pieces out of the skeleton and leave it in much worse shape than it started in.
Gecktar brings his hammer smashing into the skeleton and neatly crushes most of the bones that it passes through. The skeleton falls at his feet in many pieces and powder.
Solgrin continues to circle above the merchant ship looking for an opening.
Kale stabs in several times upon his own skeleton but finds that backstabbing is impossible, this thing is already dead and has not vitals to hit. Still his damage is enough to drop the one skeleton, though his attack upon the other skeleton is not possible as it is now on the lower deck.
Toros flies but finds that he cannot reach his skeleton at this time.
Flat-top slams his morningstar home several times and turns the skeleton before him into a pile of broken splinters.
Phaerill stays with the merchant for a few seconds as he calms him and gets him off her back.
Kanchana calls up a second water elemental and sends them into a flurry of putting ut fires. Kanchana then starts he flight across the deck to the aid of the two merchants that are on the far side of the boat. As she reaches the half way point she feels a chilling touch in her bones as the temperature drops several degrees.
------------------------------------------------
The skeleton(J5) takes a swing at the same dire bat as before(hit: 25 and damage: 8).
The skeleton(G7) finds his sword blocked again by a merchant that is starting to lose hope.
The skeleton(J9) finds himself standing in the spot that one of his companions fell at. He does drive his sword at Brahmah(hit: 25 and damage: 8).
The skeleton(K8) is dead again.
The skeleton(J7) is dead again.
The skeleton(K10) brings its sword back at Brahmah with a single minded purpose(hit: 26 and damage: 4).
The skeleton(L14) moves to the backside of Flat-top and stabs at his rear(hit: 21 and damage: 5).
The skeleton(G14) continues to hold the two merchants at bay but presses an attack upon the one merchant.
The skeleton(G18) stagges towards the stairs that Flat-top is coming up.
The skeleton(L16) is dead again.
The skeleton(K16) cuts in at Flat-top as his partner falls in pieces(hit: 26 and damage: 9).
The skeleton(J9) is dead again.

Toros AC 26 (+1 Haste) HP 61 (Fly, Mage Armor, See Invisibility, Endure Elements) Wednesday August 24th, 2005 3:36:57 AM
Toros will first try to save the Merchant being pushed back to the open sea, if he can. If not he will complete his action as stated in the previous post.
If he succeed his bull rush attempt he will call the merchants to escape from the opening he has opened for them by pushing back the threatening skeleton.
Kanchana (51/51HP, 19AC) d20+6=7 d20+5=8 Wednesday August 24th, 2005 3:56:31 AM
When Kanchana feels the wave of unnatural cold hit her she lands; in a spot without any flames. (No new map so I cannot give you coordinants James sorry).
She calls to the first elemental to put out another flame (the closest one to it, no map no coordinates) and then to the second elemental to put out the flames closest to it (same problem as stated before).
Then provided her way isn't physically blocked by a part of the ship; and provided she isn't already being attacked (spot 8), she approaches the skeleton (G14?) attacking the two merchants. And misses... (hits AC 7)
((I have no idea how many attacks she might get so I only rolled for one))
Phaerill (AC 22, HPs 53/53) [Fly, Mage Armor, Bull's Strength, Blur] Wednesday August 24th, 2005 4:27:02 AM
Rill leaps back into the air and races towards the skeleton that is menacing the two merchants (G14), providing herself as a target hopefully instead of the merchant.
OOC: Sorry I missed a day...I'm really sick and sleep most of yesterday away.

Flat-top brings the morningstar down again at the skeletons. He's happy with his last attack.
(Hits AC 37, 20 and 32, for 15, 11 and 15 damage)
Zeoll (AC19 HP53 Barkskin), Dire Bat 2 (AC20, HP30 of 30) d20+8=12 Wednesday August 24th, 2005 7:33:05 PM
Zeoll's first summoned dire bat blinks out of existence, leaving the second to carry on the fight.
Zeoll sings as he draws his sword and flies to the place the first bat had been:
Come frriends! Be brrave and fight with me! These bones will soon be historry!
(Bardic Inspire Courage grants a +1 to hit and damage)
Zeoll does not have enough time left in the round to swing his greatsword, but he does offer a flanking bonus to the dire bat.
Together with the Inspire Courage Bonus, that puts the bat at +3 over its usual +5. But that is still not good enough, as the bat only hits AC12.
Spells in effect: Speak with Animals, round 2 of 30 Dire Bat (AC18 HP30 of 30), round 2 of 6. Barkskin, round 5 of 300 Inspire Courage (1 of 3 today) -- continues while Zeoll sings.
Solgrin (AC18, HP35/35, Fly, Invisible) Wednesday August 24th, 2005 8:42:36 PM

Gecktar steps upon the bones of the skeleton before him and smashes his hammer into the still standing one. He smashes it into a multitude of small pieces, leaving it once again dead.
Toros comes flying in over the head of the skeleton confronting the two merchants. His hands grab out for the man as he passes trying to save him from being pushed over the side. *grapple DC 20 and reflex DC 18 to grab and not drop the merchant into the water* You contine on another ten feet before stopping your flight.*you feel a sapping of your strength at this distance: -2 to hit and all checks*
Kanchana lets her two water elementals put out more fires as she races across the ship to the aid of merchants. She gets there but finds her weapon falling short of the mark.*you feel a sapping of your strength at this distance: -2 to hit and all checks*
Phaerill takes flight as well following the same idea that Kanchana has, to save those merchants. She does not make it as far as Kanchana but she can feel the cold flooding her body...it gives her goosebumps.*you feel a sapping of your strength at this distance: -2 to hit and all checks*
Kale moves up and engages the next skeleton that is harrassing the merchants. He does not see the one the dire bats are attacking as turning his way too.*you feel a sapping of your strength at this distance: -2 to hit and all checks*
Brahmah tears into the skeleton at his side, his falchion taking it down in one swat. He turns all his other attacks upon the skeletong that jumped off the upper deck at him, he leaves it hurting bad.
Flat-top smashes the next skeleton into powder and laughs with the pure fun of it all. These things are holding no real challenge to him and he is getting bored.
Zeoll moves to help out his remaining dire bat, moving to the side. He sings an inspirational song as he goes helping raise everyones courage in this easy battle. His dire bat dives again at the skeleton but finds the boney thing moving slightly to the side.
Solgrin casts a single spell and then speeds towards the ghost ship. He wants to pull a little recon on what they might be facing.*you feel a sapping of your strength at this distance: -2 to hit and all checks*
------------------------------------------------
Not even paying attention that Zeoll has come up behind him the skeleton once again strikes at the dire bat(hit: 23 and damage: 5).
The skeleton seems to not even notice that the merchants have left as it slowly turns to Kale. It's sword strikes out at the rogue with the skill of a warrior, but long since dead(hit: 32*crit14* and damage: 9*crit14*).
The grim set of the skeleton before Brahmah or at least as you would picture it does not change. It comes on with it's sword leading the charge, not caring or feeling anything(hit: 16 and damage: 7).
The two skeletons that flank Flat-top weave their swords as the both bring them in at the poor centaur(hit: 23 and damage: 6 / hit: 18 and damage: 7).
------------------------------------------------
The two merchants nearest Kale and Gecktar find thier way open and with Yandana yelling to them they race to the stairs. They are soon started across the boarding planks.
The two merchants on the other side of the ship find they have help, but is it effective or too late?
The other merchants are laying on the deck of the GossamerWing having injuries look at. The one that Phaerill brought over is near death and the cleric on board is fast working to save his life.

[b]SolgrinHighlight to display spoiler: {You see the deck of the ship though not well as the magical darkness, as that is what it must be, cloaks it in dimness. You do see at least seven shapes moving on the lower deck and one on the back of the ship, on the upper deck. You hear a voice call out to you. "I be the captn here...name your business on me ship." You are sure that the presence cannot see you but with a ship such as this it is hard to be sure.}
Toros - for previous round d20+16=23 d20+9=22 Thursday August 25th, 2005 2:40:33 AM

Toros carries the Merchant to GossamerWing, although he feels a bit strange (-2 to hit and skill check) and tries to understand the reason for this. Then he raises again to the sky one more time to go to the Ghost ship after Solgrin, as he can follow the mage with the help of magic. Does he see some other things that are not visible to normal eye?

Toros finds that his snatch and grabs has worked out perfectly. He flies back towards the Wing with the merchant dangling in his hands.
Gecktar moves up to help out Kale and though he knows that his aim was on, he finds that he falls short with his attack.*you feel a sapping of your strength at this distance: -2 to hit and all checks*
Kale takes another two hits upon the skeleton that had just injured him. Both sword strikes hit but the skeleton does not fall.*you feel a sapping of your strength at this distance: -2 to hit and all checks*
Brahmah finds himself slightly distracted as he had wanted to show off a little for Rill. He cannot see her anywhere and that sends his attacks wild, still he is able to drop the skeleton...he sighs.
Flat-top smashes on the skeleton that he had struck earlier, yawning as he does. This skeleton falls as well and it is still boring.
Zeoll finds all of his own attacks to fall short of the skeleton before him. His dire bat though once again finds a flyby attack striking the thing.
Kanchana takes a swing at the skeleton that had just seen a merchant fly away with Toros. She finds her scimitar passing between ribs and she pulls it back having done nothing...except bought time.*you feel a sapping of your strength at this distance: -2 to hit and all checks*
Phaerill finds herself momentarily stunned by the aura that smacks her in the face and sucks some of her will to fight away.*you feel a sapping of your strength at this distance: -2 to hit and all checks*
Sogrin finds himself momentary distracted as someone seems talk at him from the ship. He knows that whatever it is cannot see him but it is still unnerving.*you feel a sapping of your strength at this distance: -2 to hit and all checks*
------------------------------------------------
With a turn the skeleton brings it's sword in at Zeoll, ignoring the dire bat this time around(hit: 24 and damage: 6).
Taking another biting swing at Kale the skeleton seems to not care that he is on his last legs(hit: 17 and damage: 8).
Taking another stab at Flat-top's exposed rump the skeleton seems to not have a problem with dying...again(hit: 26 and damage: 8).
The skeleton does not turn but instead charges at the last remaining merchant.
------------------------------------------------
Only one merchant still remains upon the deck of the merchant ship and he takes no head of nothing as he brings his club around, leaving him totally unprepared for the charging skeleton. As the skeleton hits him he tumbles back over the side with the skeleton in tow, both of them hitting the water.
Six merchants are soon to be safely upon the deck of the GossamerWing, being tended by the ship cleric.
------------------------------------------------
The aura that is striking those that I indicated is not a penalty to your strength persay. It is sapping your will to fight and put up a struggle. It is the dark powers of death as they claw and scratch at you, trying to get you to surrender yourselves and serve as crew for the ship.
Solgrin (AC18, HP35/35, Fly, Invisible) Friday August 26th, 2005 1:45:12 AM
Solgrin flies over near Brahmah then tells him "Captain, there is atleast 7 or 8 moving around on the ghost ship."
Kanchana (51/51HP, 19AC) (Inspired) d20+5=16 Friday August 26th, 2005 2:51:22 AM
(James that -2 is a set -2, not a new -2 each round? Also Kanchana has favored enemy: undead what relevancy does that have to the "will not to fight" penalty?)
Kanchana cannot see what the water elementals are doing now as her back is turned on them.
She calls to them to put out any other fires still burning.
Kanchana attempts yet again to dispatch the skeleton... (Hits AC 16...)
((Geez! Can she just pick the darn thing up and pitch it overboard out of pure frustration??))
Phaerill (AC 22, HPs 53/53) [Fly, Mage Armor, Bull's Strength, Blur] 2d20(5+3)+6=14 Friday August 26th, 2005 6:41:25 AM
Rill shakes her head and stamps a hoof, trying to shake off the strange feeling but completely unable to do so. She looks over and sees Kachana fighting with the skeleton, and how her sword did little to the thing. She gallops over to lend aid to the wemic. She rises up on her back legs and viscously kicks out with her two front hooves, but can't seem to connect with the skeleton at all (2 hoof attack 11 and 9).

Zeoll and his dire bat attack their skeleton again.
Dire Bat hits AC22 for 10 hp.
Zeoll hits AC21 with his sword for 12. His paws miss.
The bard keeps singing as he attacks.
Spells in effect: Speak with Animals, round 4 of 30 Dire Bat (AC18 HP25 of 30), round 4 of 6. Barkskin, round 7 of 300 Inspire Courage (1 of 3 today) -- continues while Zeoll sings.
Brahmah (AC 25+1hasted, 59/83 hps, FLY, HASTE) Friday August 26th, 2005 8:17:53 PM
Brahmah's eyes dart to Solgrin. "Really?!" He looks at the other ship and then back at the battle on deck. "Well, lets move over to that ship then." He then rises straight from the deck and calls to Flat-top to 'stop playing around' and follow him.

Toros prepares the CMW and heals their captain for 12 hp, while he heads for the other ship.
Feeling better again (no -2 penalty was stated for this round) he looks around to spot anything worthy with his eyes that can see even the invisible. (spot 23)
Battle at high seas, 7. (DM Jim) d20+12=13 d6+3=7 Saturday August 27th, 2005 9:58:59 PM
Solgrin flies back to land near Brahman and indicates the ghost ship, letting him know that there are at least seven to eight things moving upon it's deck.
Kanchana orders her elementals to put out the last of the fires on the front of the merchant ship. She makes it to the edge of the deck and is able to see the last skeleton and merchant near her hit the water. She does not continue to watch as she sees fins split the water.
Phaerill comes up beside Kanchana and looks over the side grimacing as well. She looks about the deck and finds only one skeleton, she can see anyways, back near Flat-top.
Kale counters with a pair of thrusts of his own and yells to Gecktar to help out the others, he has this one easily.
As Zeoll sings on he finds that his big sword find thier mark this time as his dire bat swoops in from the other side. They both have great luck this time against the skeleton, though Zeoll would have been happier if his paws had found a mark as well.
Brahmah smiles and acknowledges Solgrin and then checks around. He calls to Flat-top to quit messing around and heads for the ghost ship.
Flat-top despite the skeleton behind him moves to his leaders orders. He runs away from a fight that he could have most obviously won. Maybe it was too easy.
Toros finds that he feels better now with the merchant upon the GossamerWing and himself out of that aura from the ghost ship. He heads to heal the captain but finds that he has already raced towards the ghost ship. He will have to hold it till he can reach him.
Gecktar is confused by the sudden issue of orders from Kale and just stands there dumbly. He cannot figure out the rogue...he does not usually do that.
------------------------------------------------
The last skeleton alive strikes out at Flat-top as he retreats towards the ghost ship(hit: 13 and damage: 7). It then chases in Flat-tops wake and around the mast of the ship(I14).
All the other skeletons are dead now.
------------------------------------------------
All of the merchants that are still alive are now on board the GossamerWing and safe as can be for the situation.
Yandana will start to move to the ship also when she sees that everything is ok.
------------------------------------------------
Everyone but Zeoll and his dire bat are feeling the effects of the ghost ship's aura upon them: -2 to hit and all checks. The penalty is a one time shot and not cumulative, though Toros could tell you that the aura does not work once you get far enough from the ship. Your favortism does not help in this instance except in ofsetting the penalty for fighting undead, sorry Eunice. It is not undead of itself but an aura that is being exuded by the ship itself which is magical in nature not undead.
Toros AC 29 (+1 Haste +3 Fight Defensively) HP 61 (Fly, Mage Armor, See Invisibility, Endure Elements) d8=1 d8=8 d8=1 d8=4 Saturday August 27th, 2005 10:27:34 PM
Toros reaches for Brahmah and heals him for 15 hps before the Captain encounters any further danger. Being closer to the ship, he again starts feeling that sapping feeling, but for now Toros can resist to it. The Taur then waits for Flat-top, perhaps to heal him or hear from him or others some encouraging words for what to do next.
Gecktar AC18/20 HP54 Sunday August 28th, 2005 4:45:15 AM

after kicking at the remains of the skeleton, Kale stays where he is and waits for Gecktar to heal some of his wounds. "Dont get ahead of us!" he yells to Brahmah and Flat-Top
Kanchana (51/51HP, 19AC) (Inspired) Sunday August 28th, 2005 5:46:07 PM
Kanchana backs away from the side of the ship as the skeleton suddenly goes over the side taking one of the merchants with it.
Phaerill (AC 22, HPs 53/53) [Fly, Mage Armor, Bull's Strength, Blur] Monday August 29th, 2005 11:08:04 AM
Rill backs up from the side, a grimace on her face. She wheels around and moves towards the others, intending to cross onto the ghost ship with them.
Zeoll d20+9=11 Monday August 29th, 2005 3:00:35 PM
Still singing, the bard/druid and his bat fly towards the ghost ship. They take a close look for enemies (Spot 11) but Zeoll, unused to flight, is a little distracted.

Battle at high seas, 7. (DM Jim) d20+12=13 d6+3=8 Monday August 29th, 2005 11:29:50 PM
Brahmah, Flat-top, Solgrin, Zeoll and his dire bat move onto the other ship, the ghost ship. Once there the darkness seems to lift if ever so slightly and they se a group of skeletons and ghouls before them. Solgrin is able to get a better count of them as he is still in the air as is Zeoll, but farther away.
Gecktar and Kale stop at the ramp that leads to the ghost ship. Gecktar summons up a simple spell that will aid the group in combat and then lets Kale know that he will heal him next round.
Kanchana and Phaerill take a step back from the side of the merchant ship. They did not really want to see much more of what was going to happen.
The two water elementals at the front of the merchant ship stand where they are and look around. They do not see anymore fires to put out and figure their job over, but do not leave yet.
------------------------------------------------
The last skeleton comes up behind Kanchana and stabs his sword at her back(hit: 13 and damage: 8). It seems that someone forgot to put an end to one of those nuisances. It misses badly and digging it's sword into the deck.
Skeleton AC 16
------------------------------------------------
On the ghost ship you see what must be the Captain of the ship come to the edge of the upper deck, near the wheel. He looks to you and gives a smile. "Wat ya be doin on ma ship?" The rest of his crew stand their ground waiting for the order that will send them into action. The Captain once again addresses the group at large. "Ya be killn me crew...be ya havn busness on me ship?" He waits to see if you have anything to say for yourselves as he motions his crew to stand their ground awhile longer.

Toros AC 28 (+3 Fight Defensively) HP 61 (Fly, Mage Armor, See Invisibility, Endure Elements), Ring of Force Shield and Brahmah's Tattoo of Enlarge Person is active Tuesday August 30th, 2005 8:52:16 AM
Toros activates his tattoo and hastely enlarges in size, while he replaces his healing wand back.
OOC: Where is Toros in the map, I could not find it, is it one of the RIPs ?!?!
What is the minimum amount of healing that the CMW wand provides (2d8+5?)?
Consider yourself right behind Brahmah on the boarding plank leading to the ghost ship. I think that in changing people's positions I might have forgot you, though I could make you one of the rips :). As for the healing wand, it would be able to heal 2d8+5 as you stated.
Brahmah and Flat-top Tuesday August 30th, 2005 10:45:03 AM
Both warriors fly through the riggings and sails toward the Captain? at I16. They stop overhead to access the situation.
"What do you think?" Asks Brahmah.
"Captain, I think we can take them!" Flat-top grins.
Brahmah just smirks at the young centaur.
(Is the 'captain' the ghost captain or the merchants captain?)
That would be the ghost captain. Should have added a little description to aid in that or just said for sure. Sorry for the confusion. :(
Toros - OOC Tuesday August 30th, 2005 3:48:00 PM
So there are three captains!! This would be very confusing for Toros!! ;-b
Solgrin (AC18, HP35/35, Fly, Invisible) Tuesday August 30th, 2005 6:56:45 PM

Zeoll flies a little closer and speaks for the group.
"You see that we arre forrmidible foes. We would be glad to destrroy you all. But we have a grreaterr goal. We need something that you may have. Perrhaps we can come to an underrstanding."
Diplomacy check (includes a -2) 23.
Battle at high seas, 8. (DM Jim) d20+12=27 d6+3=6 Tuesday August 30th, 2005 11:47:27 PM
Gecktar sends healing into Kale with a tap of his wand.
Kale charges the skeleton that had the nerve to attack Kanchana. His sword snakes out and knocks chips off the skeleton's bony body. It still appears to have a fair amount of fight in it though.
Toros taps a tattoo and starts to grow as he replaces the wand in a pouch. He finds that the plank is now a little too small for him and he feels his balance leaving him(Reflex DC 16 or topple off the side of the plank and towards the water).
Brahmah and Flat-top fly among the rigging and tattered sails towards the ghost ship captain. The can see him a little better now but hold their ground as they talk it over.
Solgrin stays above the ship's deck at all times as he continues to search the deck.
Zeoll moves forward and speaks to the ghost ship captain. His diplomacy sounds pretty good to his own ears and what he says makes sense...now if this captain will just listen to terms. He only takes slight notice as his dire bat pops out of exhistance from its position behind him.
Kanchana and Phaerill are both stunned by the fact that a skeleton was left behind. The fact that it has attacked Kanchana also leaves her thanking the Wold Mother that it missed.
------------------------------------------------
The skeleton yanks it's sword out of the deck of the merchant ship and takes the hit from Kale. It does not seem to notice it too much and does not turn its' attention from Kanchana. It could feel her hatred for it's kind and the life that serves...it's sword dove back in(hit: 27 and damage: 6).
Skeleton AC 16
------------------------------------------------
The ghost ship captain turns to the new voice and calls out. "Ya be thinkn to scar me?" A wicked laugh issues from it's mouth at that point and you see the bobbing of a large hat with a single partly rotted feather in it. Two red points of light burn inside the empty eye sockets and you are able to make out black skin, drawn so tight upon the bones that it is hard to tell which is which. "Ya be gettn not...but maybe a game." His eyes burn brighter as he continues. "Me crew ya be beatn...dan we be leavn for twenty yars ta da bottom of da sea." With a rather dark look to Zeoll he laughs again. "Ifn ya don make it...ya be joinn me crew." He lets you think it over as he waits for an answer to his demands. With a thought he shrugs his shoulder as if the game will never work this way but makes the terms anyways. "Ifn ya beat me crew, ya also be gettn two of three treasure in me hold."
The ghouls and skeletons seem to be prepared for a fight with an assortment of weapons at the ready.

Zeoll (AC19 HP47 of 53 Barkskin) (Inspire Courage) Wednesday August 31st, 2005 11:55:57 AM
Zeoll can only watch amazed as his diplomacy is ruined by a premature attack! maybe Brahmah misinterpreted his secret message? maybe Brahmah thought that Zeoll's desire to accept Captain Dead's bargain was in fact a command to grapple the undead thing?
Or maybe this was Brahmah's way of expressing his disapproval for any bargain?
Well, there's nothing for it now but to attack!
Zeoll sees that there are lots of holes in the ghost ship. Maybe big enough for a shark to swim through. He casts Charm Animal on a shark (Will DC 16). If it takes, then he uses his Speak With Animals to ask it to enter the ghost ship and attack any undead things it sees.
Zeoll also looks to see if there is any kelp or aquatic plants nearby on which he could cast Entangle.
Spells in effect: Speak with Animals, round 7 of 30 Barkskin, round 10 of 300 Inspire Courage (1 of 3 today) -- Round one of five, since Zeoll stopped singing to talk to Captain Dead.

Gecktar flies on a little and then stops to cast a spell upon himself. He feels Domi's power settle over him as he takes stock of the situation.
Toros casts yet another spell upon himself and just barely keeps his balance upon the boarding plank he is standing on(Reflex DC 16 or topple off the side of the plank and towards the water).
Zeoll had given his opinion that the deal was a good one, but finds that it might be a mute point as Brahmah makes an attack against the ghost ship captain. He finds no plants that would be usefull for his entangle spell and despite the holes in the ship he sees no water in them, just darkness.
Kale sends his sword into the skeleton a couple more times wondering what is happening with the others on the ghost ship. He finds two solid hits but finds that they caused very little damage.
Brahmah races forward towards the ghost ship captain. About a foot away from him he slams into an invisible barrier, that sparkles blue faintly(Fortitude DC 14 to not be knocked senseless for 1d4+1 rounds).
Flat-top had started his downward decent after the ghould and skeletons when he was caught in one of the falling sails. He finds himself caught up in it and needing to cut his way out or be cut out as the case maybe(Strength DC 14 to break free in 1d4+1 rounds or cut way out sail AC: 12 HP: 18).
Kanchana and Phaerill are both still confused by the presence of a skeleton on the merchant ship or maybe they want to be saved by Kale. At this time their true emotions are not known.
Solgrin continues his aeriel view of the ghost ship deck. Nothing has changed to his eyes but that Brahmah and Flat-top have started the fight(if you look down you will notice that you are lined in purple flames).
------------------------------------------------
The skeleton takes the hits from Kale in stride but does not turn his attention from the druidess before him. His sword once again cuts in, looking for vital spots(hit: 23 and damage: 4).
Skeleton AC 16
------------------------------------------------
The ghost captain does not even flinch as he sees Brahmah barreling in towards him. He does not pull a weapon or make any other moves that would indicate he was going to defend himself. Unfortunately for Brahmah he knows about a field that protects him and Brahmah does not.
A ghoul(K10) had pulled a rope right before Brahmah and Flat-top had made thier own move. It dropped one of the sails upon the two taurs and then started forward to attack.
The other two ghouls(N12&N14) move forward and take up positions that will put them into a better striking range, if their opponents will come down.
Two of the skeletons(M9&M10) pull up a crossbow and fire them at Solgrin(hit: 24/21 and damage: 4/8).
Two skeletons(L13&L14) pull up their crossbows and fire bolts at Zeoll(hit: 19/30 and damage: 4/8+5 unholy damage).

Battle at high seas, 10. (DM Jim)*Ammended for Cayzle's post.* Thursday September 1st, 2005 10:49:23 PM
Phaerill ggets one of her attacks to strike upon the skeleton. It does not appear to do enough damage though.
Solgrin calls up a armor to surround his body and allow him to withstand attacks better. He then takes off towards Kanchana and her healing abilities.
Kale rips into the skeleton again as he yells at Kanchana. It was not needed he notices as the skeleton crumbles before his eyes.
Toros finds the skeleton trapped in his grip and the crossbow flat against his side, unuseable.
Brahmah finds that he is still standing before the captain of the ghost ship. He can still see the shield sparkle for a few minutes but cannot be sure if the spell is ended.
Flat-top finds himself hopelessly stuck in the sail of the ship and hanging some fifteen feet in the air.
Gecktar finishes the spell that he had prepared earier but finds that it is wisked away to a point some ten feet behind the ghost ship captain.
Kanchana is once again unable to protect herself but at least the threat is gone.
Zeoll gets his spell out and looks across the deck but finds no hidden doors, passages or anything else that would indicate a hidden spot. He can still see all those holes in the ship deck and figures that the undead have little use for doors or stairs.
Willpower DC 26 for everyone on the ghost ship, fail and you are rooted to your spot unable to move.
------------------------------------------------
The ghost ship captain can feel the power building on his ship and he stares wide-eyed at the Chosen.
All the other monsters upon the ghost ship seem to come to a standstill. They have more or less frozen in place.
------------------------------------------------
The skeleton in front of Kanchana crumbles under the assault that is brought against it.
This battle maybe ending a little sooner than expected. Sorry for the boredom for all with combat...which mostly came about due to the CrossOver and all. The werecreature battle was but a throw in because of it. Will watch that in the future and all.
Gecktar AC18/20 HP43/54 d20+7=16 Friday September 2nd, 2005 4:29:12 AM
Gecktar sees the power of his spell annihilated and stares desperately at the deck where the Ghost Captain stands... and is rooted on his spot unable to move
Brahmah (AC 25+1hasted, 59/83 hps, FLY, HASTE) 2d4(1+4)+7=12 2d4(4+2)+7=13 d6+4=5 d6+4=5 Friday September 2nd, 2005 9:53:37 AM
(OOC: This is absolutely NO way for Brahmah to make the save AT ALL. He fails.)
Brahmah is rooted firm. He starts hacking and the floor boards surrounding his feet. He's VERY p***ed off and is cursing.
(35 damage to the deck boards!!)
Flat-top [sub Jay](fly, haste) (-15 hps) d20+17=37 d20+12=28 d20+17=18 d8+8=11 d8+8=10 Friday September 2nd, 2005 9:57:58 AM
(OOC: Same goes for Flat-top. There is no way for him to pass the save!)
He becomes rooted and simply continues fighting the skeletons. (AC 37 and 28 (hasted action missed), for 11 and 10 damage) He hasn't quite realized that he's stuck yet.
Cayzle OOC Friday September 2nd, 2005 1:25:24 PM
Note: A Natural 20 ALWAYS saves, right?
Cayzle is absolutely right. A natural 20 will always win a save. It is the one saving grace of a game. :) But don't be too discouraged for those of you that do not suceed, there is a reason for a high save.
Zeoll (AC19 HP47 of 53 Barkskin) (Inspire Courage) d20+9=28 d20+8=22 Saturday September 3rd, 2005 1:21:16 PM
Zeoll resists the magic easily. But he is not sure what to do!
He sees his friends and his enemies freeze in place. And this spell affected undead as well as mortals. Something strange is going on here, he deduces! There is a Third Party on the scene!
What to do? What to do? Zeoll decides to try some trickery. The liontaur freezes in place, PRETENDING the magic worked! [Bluff check 22 with the -2 penalty]
Maybe when it is clear what is going on, Zeoll will have the advantage of surprise!
Spells in effect: Speak with Animals, round 9 of 30 Barkskin, round 12 of 300 Inspire Courage (1 of 3 today) -- Round 3 of 5
Spells Typically chosen out of doors: Level 0: Guidance, Light, Cure Minor Wounds x2 Level 1: Entangle, Charm Animal [cast], Produce Flame Level 2: Barkskin [cast], Flaming Sphere [cast twice]

Zeoll extra Saturday September 3rd, 2005 1:23:50 PM
Note: Even if the -2 penalty applies to saves, Zeoll still saved with a 26 -- exactly what he needed!
Battle at high seas, 10. (DM Jim) Saturday September 3rd, 2005 6:34:16 PM
Brahmah is held in place by this newest spell or aura.
Zeoll finds that he can move but waits to see what surprise he maybe able to use in this battle. He stays fronzen for the time being.
All the other Chosen, but Flat-top who is held in the sail, find that they cannot move either. Maybe it is the spell or maybe it is fear but they do not move.
None of the monsters are moving either or anyways those that are ghouls and skeletons.
Brahmah looks up into the twisted face of the ghost ship Captain and sees his right hand decend towards him. It seems to pass through the armor over his chest and then his world is a burning fire that racks his body. The hand seems to be burrowing through his chest and towards his heart, with nothing that he can do about it. The minutes seem to slow to mere seconds as the pain is not dulled and the creature seems to be taking great delight in what it is doing. "Ye thought ta win...on ma home ground." His smirk is all consuming as he pushes his hand further towards your heart.
Zeoll is the only one able to move but in his heart he realizes that he cannot get to his Captain in time to save his life. Is he going to see Brahmah parish before his very eyes?
This is more of a roleplay time people. Have fun with it before the combat is over.
Jay, do I have you worried yet? ;)
Flat-top (AC 22 ??/96hp) d20+12=13 d20+8=20 Sunday September 4th, 2005 7:52:28 AM
Flat-top cannot figure as to why he cannot get out of this position?? He kicks with his frount hooves, twice (attack AC 13 and AC 20) But it seem that it does no good. "I'm going to get out of this ^%##@*! trap, Even if it takes me all day!"
Toros d20=1 Monday September 5th, 2005 4:23:58 AM
Toros seems to be pinned by his own move mostly due to the overwhelming supernatural mental effects at work, as well as his chance. He is neither aware of his surroundings nor can do anything for the moment (*natural 1*).
Phaerill (AC 22, HPs 53/53) [Fly, Mage Armor, Bull's Strength, Blur] Monday September 5th, 2005 6:43:44 AM
Rill wonders what the heck is going on, noting that neither side is moving. She swishes her tail in agitation and looks around, looking to see if she can see anything out of the ordinary, or someone or something that does not belong.
OOC: Rill is still on merchant ship..is she also infected with the no move?
Brahmah Monday September 5th, 2005 7:05:44 AM
OOC: Welcome back Ceil!! Flat-top is down 15 hit points from this battle.
Brahmah thinks about the three Warrd coins in his backpack and how nice it would be for them to be more lucky at this point. His face twists as the ghostly hand touches him. "So, you enjoy fondling people?! Were you keel-hauled for that?" Brahmah isn't panicked or even scared, he's simply frusterated.
Flat-top (AC22 15/96hp) d20+13=26 d20+8=9 Monday September 5th, 2005 8:08:53 AM
Flat-top cannot understand as to why his hoves are not affective?? So He'll try again. (Attack Ac26 and Ac9.
He does not know (just now ) that he is hurt.
Jay to Ceil Monday September 5th, 2005 8:40:27 AM
OOC: I may have confused you. Flat-top has only lost 15 hit points.
Gecktar Monday September 5th, 2005 3:06:46 PM "NO !" says Gecktar seeing the scene. "You cannot win this fight ! You're a damned soul and this is not your place. Just tell us what you need to find the eternal rest and I will try to fullfil your wish"
Zeoll Monday September 5th, 2005 6:46:49 PM
Waiting for the best time to act, Zeoll waits and watches. There is nothing he can do for now. Maybe Gecktar will distract the undead captain.
Battle at high seas, 11. (DM Jim) Monday September 5th, 2005 9:41:16 PM
Brahmah can feel the hand push farther and the up to the first digit of the hand slips into his skin.
Toros finds himself completely immobilized with the undead in his arms.
Flat-top kicks out again at the sail and finds that this time it gives under his hooves but does not rip.
Phaerill wonders what is going on with the other ship as she cannot see across.

Brahmah can feel the hand push farther and the up to the first digit of the hand slips into his skin.
Gecktar pleads his case with the ghost ship captain but feels that he is getting nowhere.
Zeoll knows that he cannot reach either one in time and hopes that Gecktar has better luck.
The rest of the Chosen are immobilized or unaware of the troubles surrounding them.
------------------------------------------------
The ghost ship captain smiles as he looks to Brahmah. "It will not matter...soon you will join my crew." He presses his attack upon you with an ever widening smile.
------------------------------------------------
In the back of your mind Brahmah you feel a presence start to fade in. You see those eyes from many days ago in that dream...the Fae King you believe it was. His voice speaks into your mind as you feel another presence there as well. "Brother...nature lover...let me assist you in your fight...undead are unnatural to all of nature and even I cannot allow them to survive." The other presence seems to linger further back though he does speak to you. A peace and warmth fills you from this entity as he speaks to you as well. "My son...have faith and hold true to your course." You get the feeling that neither of the presences are aware of the other. To reach out to either would help you and to both would be natural...you feeling no malice from either one. The nature power seems choatic but also willing to help as the other presence reminds you of your god...you are sure that it is he but as if he is working from too far away. It has become decision time.
Kanchana Tuesday September 6th, 2005 1:50:34 AM
Kanchana is rooted to the spot and still being introspective, she doesn't seem to "see" anything going on...
((Jim can I get a save attempt to be released from this - I ask because I have been away due to serious illness all last week.))
Brahmah Tuesday September 6th, 2005 9:27:13 AM
With a renewed sense of faith and courage, Brahmah looks into the Captain's eyes and says, "I will NOT fall to your will creature! Get to know me, Domi!" With all of Brahmah's mental power, he tries to fend off the ghost. "YOU WILL FAIL TO HAVE ME!"
Mentally he calls to Domi and the land, 'Fathers, I willing take your power.'
Kale AC 23, Hps 66(Fly, Bulls Strength, Haste, Bless) Tuesday September 6th, 2005 11:50:17 AM
Kale turns from the fallen skeleton and watches the exchange between everyone on the pirate ship.
Zeoll (AC19 HP47 of 53 Barkskin) d20+7=9 Tuesday September 6th, 2005 3:16:53 PM
Zeoll does not sense the underlying struggle that is going on in Brahmah's mind (Sense Motive 9). But he does see that Brahmah is about to die. He also sees Flat-top struggling. So abandoning his ploy, Zeoll flies to Flat-top and helps free him from the entangling sail. He cuts away at it with his sword, careful not to hurt his friend.
Flat-top -- we all have the power to fly for a little while more, thanks to someone's seal. Zeoll says to his friend, "Should we trry to save ourr frriends who arre parralyzed or trry to save Brrahmah?"

Gecktar Tuesday September 6th, 2005 3:43:08 PM
Gecktar looks powerless to the struggle between Brahmah and the ghost
Toros d20=2 Tuesday September 6th, 2005 9:56:45 PM
Not much improvement on Toros's side, as he stands still with the skeleton as if for a life long and after...
Battle at high seas, 12. (DM Jim) Tuesday September 6th, 2005 11:44:52 PM
The hold continues on all those present of the Chosen but Zeoll. He races to the aid of Flat-top who is held in the sails. He cuts him loose easily and grimly looks to his friend.
Brahmah feels the presence of those other two entities keenly and he lets them slip in. The nature one is far more powerful and he feels the flood of the Wold slip into him. The timelessness of the very earth itself and the mountains. He feels the slow changes of nature as they occur and is fully alive, though he cannot move still. A bright green light seems to surround him slightly, tinged with a dull white, that pulses with power.
------------------------------------------------
The ghost captain's face loses the smirk and is replaced by sheer terror as he tries to pull his hand back. To his shock green vines are slowly traveling up his hand and he lets out a scream that freezes everyone's blood in thier veins. Finally he is able to pull back his arm but the hand that had been touching Brahmah is gone...only the wrist remains. "But....how?" He staggers back into the large black idol behind him and it flashes. The ghost captain is gone from all sight.
------------------------------------------------
The ghouls slowly howl as they seem to turn to vapor and disperse on the wind. The skeletons crumbles into dust upon the deck of the ship and then sinks into it. The ship shudders slightly and everyone is free once again to move as they wish. The ship gives another shudder and you feel it sink a little in the water. It is quickly becoming apparent that this ship is slipping back into the waters that spawned it *Intelligence DC 8 to realize that this ship will only stay above the water for maybe a minute*.
Kale Wednesday September 7th, 2005 9:46:02 AM
not wanting anything to do with the sinking ship, Kale will fly back over to his ship and await the others
Flat-top Wednesday September 7th, 2005 10:20:42 AM
"Thank-You Zeoll! Remind me that when I return to the Catacumbs! To buy myself a good dagger. Now where is this Lowly Captain of the Dead? I want this thing we came after!! And before we sink." Flat-top yell after he get out of the darn sail, but there is nothing there??" "What happen? Where's the enemy? Captain Brahmah? I think we are sinking back to davy Joins locker??"
Brahmah Wednesday September 7th, 2005 10:23:02 AM
The ranger slumps over slightly, unsure what just happened, but slowly rises intot he air and avoids the riggings. Brahmah silently thanks who ever, or whatever, helped him and the Chosen just then.
Zeoll d20+2=8 d20+2=11 d20+2=16 Wednesday September 7th, 2005 4:49:46 PM
Zeoll shouts, "Rrememberr what Masterr Grrith said! -- 'Parrt of a map that leads to the sworrd Varrgas is looking forr lays in the ghost ship Captain's hands.' We HAVE to get that map beforre this ship sinks!" (Just made Int check to tell the ship is sinking!)
Zeoll starts to look frantically for the map. First near this odd idol. Then in the captain's quarters. (untrained Search checks 11 and 16)
"Come ON everrybody!"
Toros Wednesday September 7th, 2005 6:10:53 PM
"Yes, we have to find the map, but where could it be..! The captain had said we could take 2 most valuable items from his treasure but where is his treasure..." Toros casts Elven Vision (If he can cast it as a spontenous Bard Spell) to help him find a clue. "Could it be something to do with that large black idol that swallowed the Captain?"
That sink'n feeling. (DM Jim) Wednesday September 7th, 2005 11:59:45 PM
The Chosen go into save mode as the ship rocks. Some are not onboard the ghost ship so they are not present for the constant tremors. They can see from the merchant ship that the ghost ship is starting to lay a little lower in the water though as if getting closer to it.
Zeoll tears through what must be the captain's quarters but finds nothing that would even remotely be a map. The idol had turned up nothing as well that would even hint at treasure of a map. *Did you touch the idol in anyway?*
Toros remembers that the captain had mentioned that if they won the battle they could have two fo the three treasure chests on board the ship. He ponders the black idol that sucked up the ghost ship captain.
Kale has returned to the GossamerWing and awaits the return of the others with mild interest.
Flat-top informs the others of something that most have already realized...the ship is sinking back into the ocean.
Brahmah takes to the sky and scans the deck. He knows that there is something that he should remember about pirates and loot...but what???
Wisdom or Intelligence DC 8 to think of the hold as being the best place to find pirate bootie. +2 to this check if you have knowledge about pirates or ships.
Gecktar d20+3=20 d20+2=15 Thursday September 8th, 2005 2:54:54 AM
Gecktar realizes that the hold may be the best place for the pirate to keep their treasure. So he rushes into the hold and begin to search for the map
(WIS check 18, Search 15)
Gecktar errata Thursday September 8th, 2005 2:55:20 AM
Wis check is 20 not 18
Brahmah d20+1=15 Thursday September 8th, 2005 5:54:13 AM
Brahmah can't quite think straight, but somehow manages to think about the pirates and bootie(treasure that is!). His head is still swimming with the echoes of voices.
He glances about, looking to see if he can see Rill.
OOC: Jim, what was it we're were supposed to do on the ship again? ;)
Flat-top d20+1=9 d20+4=22 Thursday September 8th, 2005 8:40:12 AM
Flat-top is frustrated, so he kicks the nearest thing closes thing to him, when he lands on the deck. He will now start ti search around and in at the same time tries to think as to where Pirats would stash their treasure, before hiding it?? "Gee thinking give me a head ache. Wait a minute? How about the hole, you know the dark smelly hole?? Since they are all dead in one way or another, They will not attack us unless that Captain tell them To??" Flat-top tries to make sence of things.
Wisdom 9 (just squeek by) serch 22
Toros d20=11 d20=14 Thursday September 8th, 2005 9:51:52 PM Where are these treasure chests?? Toros looks around the board and hold to find them. (Wisdom check, 14, Search check, 16)
Zeoll d20+3=20 d20+1=11 Thursday September 8th, 2005 9:54:56 PM
Zeoll realizes that the Hold is the best place to search, so he heads down there pronto to search.
