Kanchana Friday September 9th, 2005 2:45:04 AM
Kanchana isn't on the pirat ship, and as it starts to sink there is nothing that can make her get onboard it now either, she still remembers the shark vision vividly.
Brahmah Friday September 9th, 2005 9:04:52 AM
Brahmah hovers, still confused what has happened in the last few seconds. "There was something. Something!"
Flat-top Friday September 9th, 2005 2:25:55 PM
Flat-top yell to Brahmah, "Captain! I will follow Zeoll. OK!" Then tell Zeoll as Flat-top tries to catch up with the Liontaur, ' "Wait for me??"
Sink er swim. (DM Jim) Friday September 9th, 2005 3:18:06 PM
Brahmah is suddenly hit by the fact that they are looking for a map. Brahmah spots Rill by Kanchana on the merchant ship standing a little ways from the edge.
Kanchana stays on the merchant ship and then looks to the boarding planks from the ghost ship. They look mighty solid to her and they are attached to the deck of the merchant ship.
Gecktar, Toros and Zeoll all head down through on of the holes in the deck as it is quicker and they see no other way into the lower part of the ship. You all find at about the same time three chest in a small room down in the hold. In fact this is the only room that seems to be dry and without mold. The rest of the lower part of the ship stinks of decay and mold, with a foot of water layering the floor.
Flat-top calls out to Brahmah that he is heading into the hold with Zeoll. He has to race to catch up and only is able to find them in the small room with the gasps of surprise from his three friends.
Kale is still on the GossamerWing watching for the others to come back, but noone has showed up yet.
Solgrin floats above the ghost ship and keeps an eye out for other things that may decide to take advantage of the situation.
Phaerill is stunned by the sudden turn of events and seems unable to move. Even the sinking ghost ship is not enought to jog her out of her state on the merchant ship.
Sorry, storms kept me from getting all my posts in yesterday. Will make up Fridays post on Saturday if most of you are ready to go. :)
Toros d20=4 Friday September 9th, 2005 8:30:22 PM
Toros asks Gecktar and Zeoll, Flattop "should we check only the map here or take all the chests to GossamerWing and search them there?"
If it is decided to carry the chests back, taking the risk that there could be trap, Toros will take the chest on the left, leaving the other two to his friends.
At the same time, he will look around to see any worthwhile stuff other than the chests in the small room. (spot 10)
Zeoll Saturday September 10th, 2005 1:07:27 AM
Zeoll is keenly aware that the ship is sinking. "No time to check," he says to Toros. "Grrab a chest and rrun!"
That's exactly what Zeoll does.
Flat-top Saturday September 10th, 2005 8:54:24 AM
"No time to serch or open the Chest!" Flat-top tells the others, "Zeoll is right! Let's us just gran and get off the ship. We'll let Kale check for traps lazter."
Flat-top helps with the chest if need be.
OOC: Ceil Saturday September 10th, 2005 8:56:41 AM
Dear DM Jim
Sent some of that rain to me, Flat-top is getting thirsty!!
Gecktar Saturday September 10th, 2005 2:08:31 PM
Gecktar grabs a chest. He asks some help if the chests are too heavy and then fly back with the chest to the Gossamer
Brahmah Monday September 12th, 2005 10:09:28 AM
Brahmah goes DIRECTLY to where the Captain's Cabin would be.
He suggests to Flat-top to find the Quartermaster's office, thinking the map might be there.
Grab that bootie. (DM Jim) Monday September 12th, 2005 5:00:30 PM
Toros finds nothing else of interest and grabs the left chest. He makes to leave with the others who have most likely grabbed a chest as well.
Zeoll grabs the middles chest and makes all haste to get out of the room and back to the deck.
Flat-top has no reason to help with the chests as thier size is not limiting to any of the taurs that grab them. Instead he grabs the door so that they may get out easier.
Gecktar reaches down and pulls up on his chest only to find that it will not budge. He pulls and pulls but cannot get it to leave the wooden floors of the room.
Brahmah heads to the captain's cabin, that has already been searched by Zeoll and rummages around. He finds nothing of interest in the room at all, though in one corner he finds a bottle with some foul smelling purplish liquid in it.
Kale continues to watch and wait for the others to make it to the GossamerWing. They have not shown up yet and he is starting to get a little impatient.
Kanchana and Phaerill notice that the deck of the merchant ship is starting to tilt ever so slightly as the ghost ship sinks further into the water.
Solgrin circles the ghost ship looking for anything out of place. He finds nothing of interrest, except that the sharks seem to have abandoned the area.
The chests are each a foot and a half long, half a foot wide and half a foot deep. They have no discernable cracks to indicate a way to open them. They appear to be made of some kind of black wood though with just a glance you are not sure what kind it would be.
Sorry Ceil...all we got was some thunder and lightning and no rain. That is the way of it here lately so I do not think you would have wanted any of that. :)
Zeoll Monday September 12th, 2005 6:51:55 PM
Zeoll sets down his chest and shouts to Kale. "Kale, come quick! We need yourr help opening a chest! This way!"
He leads the rogue to the chest that will not budge.
Then he sings a song to inspire the minotaur with confidence in his chest-opening skills ...
Inspire Competence (Su) A bard of 3rd level or higher with 6 or more ranks in a Perform skill can use his music or poetics to help an ally succeed at a task. The ally must be within 30 feet and able to see and hear the bard. The bard must also be able to see the ally. The ally gets a +2 competence bonus on skill checks with a particular skill as long as he or she continues to hear the bard's music. Certain uses of this ability are infeasible. The effect lasts as long as the bard concentrates, up to a maximum of 2 minutes. A bard can't inspire competence in himself. Inspire competence is a mind-affecting ability.
Toros d20=14 Monday September 12th, 2005 10:05:04 PM
Bringing the chest back to the GossamerWing Toros tries to help Kale to open the chest. (Aid another 14>10, +2 bonus to Kale's skill check)
Then Toros turns his attention to the sinking ship again.
OOC: Dear Jim, there was a pile of people on the ghost ship. Could you tell a bit more about this.
Kale d20+12=21 d20+12=30 d20+12=26 Tuesday September 13th, 2005 6:49:25 AM
not really wanting to go onto the ship, even for treasure, Kale none the less goes over and tries to open the first chest(search for traps chesk of 21, disable device check of 30, oven locks check of 26)
Brahmah Tuesday September 13th, 2005 8:16:43 AM
The minotaur snags the vial of purple fluid and leaves the ship, helping anyone with chests or other bulky loot. "Did anyone find the map? Anyone!?"
Gecktar Tuesday September 13th, 2005 11:40:24 AM "HERE ! This chest is heavier than anything I can carry. I need help to take it back to the Gossamer !"
Gecktar will not stay long near the chest. If nobody comes rapidly he will leave the chest where it is and hurry out of the hold flying if necessary to avoid being catch by the water...
Toros - Tuesday post Wednesday September 14th, 2005 9:31:51 AM
Realizing Gecktar is still in the ghost ship, Toros rushes back to help him.
If they can lift the chest together he will help Gecktar to carry it back.
If not, he will return back to the Gossamer together with Geckar. On the way back, he will stop by to pick up the bows of the skeletons and any other worth-taking stuff that his eyes can catch.
Down, down, down. (DM Jim) Wednesday September 14th, 2005 10:11:22 AM
Zeoll makes it back to the Gossamer with his chest and is quick to bring Kale to the other chest that will not budge. *Spot DC 8 to spot the chest that you layed on the Gossamer deck is now sporting a seem and lock*
Toros makes it back with his chest as well and then moves back on the merchant ship to take in the sinking ghost ship. He notices that is laying rather far in the water now and the deck of the merchant ship is tilted about thirteen degrees with the two ships still attached by boarding planks. The pile of merchant and sailor bodies that you saw earlier, most likely from this very merchant ship, are gone. Thinking back you realize that they melted away about the same time the rest of the ghost ship crew did. A search of the deck of both merchant and ghost ship reveal an assortment of weapons but in no condition to keep. Most are rusted and rotten in so many places that it makes you wonder how they serviced the ghost crew like they did. *Spot DC 12 to spot the chest that you layed on the Gossamer deck is now sporting a seem and lock*
Kale not really liking the idea of going into a ship that is sinking, finds himself doing just that. As he stops by the stuck chest he is struck by the fact that this chest appears to have no seem to open it, no lock to hold it shut and no traps at all. This is an interesting puzzle that he would very much like to have time to examine, but time is of the essence...unless he wants to go down with the ship.
Brahmah calls out to see if anyone had found the map but is met with only the comment about two small chests. Might the map be in one of them and what about that bottle he stashed away.
Gecktar yells for assistance and then Kale is there looking over the chest with a critical eye. Flat-top had also moved back over before Kale had showed up and tried to help Gecktar pick up the chest but even between the two of them it still would not budge. This is the sight that greets Kale as he enters the dry room, two mighty taurs straining to lift a small chest.
Despite the tip of the ship, Kanchana and Phaerill have not moved from thier spots. They watch the ghost ship and the return of everyone from that ship.
Solgrin feels the heaviness coming to his body and lands lightly on the deck of the merchant ship before the spell ends.
NOTE 1) The chests are each a foot and a half long, half a foot wide and half a foot deep. They have no discernable cracks to indicate a way to open them. They appear to be made of some kind of black wood though with just a glance you are not sure what kind it would be.
2) All of you have suddenly felt a lot heavier and if anyone was flying they have a nasty fall in their future.
3) There is about 6 rounds left till the ship totally sinks.
Ceil - Got rain this time around and caught a whole five gallon bucketfull for ya. :) Power went out about eight times yesterday so it was a nice quiet night that you could not even read to entertain yourself.
Brahmah Wednesday September 14th, 2005 10:56:28 AM
"Everyone back to the ship! Its going down."
He looks at the bottle carefully and wonders if he should open it. (What does it look like?)
Zeoll Wednesday September 14th, 2005 11:41:52 AM
A flash of memory illuminates the situation for Zeoll. He hears in his head the words of Captain Dead: "Ifn ya beat me crew, ya also be gettn two of three treasure in me hold."
Zeoll shouts, "We'rre not going to get this thirrd trreasurre. The ship will not give it up. And we don't have time to take it. Let's just prray that what we came forr is in one of the otherr two chests."
Zeoll urges his friends to return to the merchant ship and remove the gang planks binding it to the undead ship. "We must leave herre with two ships! Don't let this victim merrchant ship go down, too." Zeoll works to make sure both mortal ships sail away from this watery graveyard.
Gecktar Wednesday September 14th, 2005 3:15:47 PM
Gecktar looks at Flat-Top and then says we do not have to take this one we must let it in the ship . He then drop the chest and goes back to the Gossamer.
Toros d20=17 Thursday September 15th, 2005 9:17:31 AM
By any means, Toros makes it to the GossamerWing and starts watching the sinking ghost ship, making sure that the ship is not connected to GossamerWing and the Merchant ship any more.
He also spots the lock and stuff on the chest (spot 17>12 DC) Was it there before?!?
Brahmah Thursday September 15th, 2005 2:56:03 PM
Brahmah watches helplessly as the ghost ship sinks.
Kale d20+12=28 Thursday September 15th, 2005 4:07:09 PM
"Ill be damned if I leave without this treasure. You all dragged me over here, now ill find a way to open it." Kale says as he looks for a way to move the chest rather than open it(looking for a trigger or device that may move the chest, search check of 28). as an afterthought, he tells the others "Go back to the other ships. I have a potion that will let me breathe underwater. Ill be ok."
A rogue must go down with the ship. (DM Jim) Thursday September 15th, 2005 9:28:20 PM
All fo the Chosen have made it back to the GossamerWing, well not all. As you look over the chests that have suddenly sprouted locks and the like you seem to have a feeling that something is missing. (spot DC 10 to notice that Kale is missing)
Both of the boarding planks have been removed by the Chosen that leads from the merchant ship to the ghost ship. Now that they are free the merchant ship has come back to it's level position.
Brahmah has once again pulled out the bottle he found in the captain's cabin. It is like most normal bottles that would hold a fine wine. Clear in color is the bottle that allows you to see the liquid inside that sloshes as you move the bottle ever so slightly. A wooden cork is set in the top to hold the contents inside of it and the bottle is still half full or half empty, depending on how you look at it.
Kale meanwhile has stayed in the small lower cabin to have a look at the last chest. He is so engrossed that he does not notice that noone is around to hear him talking. His search turns up nothing that should be holding the chest down. There is no release lever of any kind around nor a button that would do the same thing. Despite pushing, pulling or lifting the chest just refuses to be moved from it's place on the floor. You notice that where the other two chests have been the floor is spotless, even though a thin layer of dust outlines where it once was.
4 rounds of above water ghost ship left, then it sinks
Those on the GossamerWing and Kale on the ghost ship find that thier eyelids are seeming to of gotten heavy. With all that had been going on you find that you want to just fall over and sleep. Yawns start with all those on board the GossamerWing and the full impact of this need is starting to hit hard. (Kale Will DC 14 or fall asleep : Everyone else Will DC 16 or fall asleep, if you happen to notice that Kale is missing than -2 to that check)
Jay B Friday September 16th, 2005 1:00:06 AM
OOC: Umm, call me wrong, but I think Kale (Sam) was infatic about staying OFF the ghost ship in the first place. I believe he's on the Gossemer with everyone else.
Jay B Friday September 16th, 2005 1:02:05 AM
OOC: Oops, nevermind, its seems greed has gotten Kale, again.
Toros d20=7 d20=13 d20=20 Friday September 16th, 2005 1:53:50 AM
"Where is Kale?" Toros asks everyone (spot notices Kale's absence, 12>10, DC)
Resisting to the urge to sleep (23> 16+2, DC) Toros tries to understand where Kale could be and how he can reach there... (wisdom check natural 20) Can Toros still fly to the ship?
Gecktar d20+7=24 Friday September 16th, 2005 3:12:49 AM
Gecktar resist the urge to fall asleep but looking around sees that Kale is still in the Ghost ship.
He turns to Kanchana, and asks "Kanchana, is there anything you can conjure to help Kale in the water ?" Then looking at the Ghost ship "I just hope that he is not imprisoned by the water"
Gecktar looks at the sinking ship powerless. With his armor he will sink like a rock into the water and even without he is not a great swimmer.
Brahmah Friday September 16th, 2005 8:25:51 AM
The minotaur opens the cork and smells the fluid. If there is no odor, he'll ask Kanchana or another Chosen to detect for poisons or the like.
Kale d20+2=7 d20+2=20 Friday September 16th, 2005 8:57:27 AM
with his eyes getting heavy(saving throw of 7, hero pt reroll of 20), Kale decides whatever is in the chest isnt worth it, so he goes back up top and tries to see if his flying is still active, trying to go up, not forward.
