DM Kelly Wednesday September 7th, 2005 6:02:23 PM
Airin has a sweet reunion with Erwen, who has been flying around above the square. She offers him bread crumbs, which are met with a confused look. Erwen then launches himself off her fist and takes a rat that just scurried from around the corner. Tearing out the soft tissues of the abdomen, the eagle has a contented look.
Kendry and Nezamil suggest you first go back and check on the Market place near the temple of Gargul. It is just a short walk, when you get there you see that the fire is completely out. Tueful is salvaging what is left, discarding the burned items and drying out the wet ones. Upon your arrival, he says:
"Ruined, everything is ruined. I suppose you were found innocent, as you were released by the guards. I hope they find out who did this, my livelyhood is gone."
Corelas motions for Gilan to come over: "The red eyes, they came around after you left, laughing. Tueful did not see them, but I did. They are gone for now. Be careful."
Then she reaches out and grabs Gilans hand, and places a kiss on his mouth.
"Thanks, I owe you more than you can know. If you are ever back here, well, come see me."
After goodbyes, you excuse yourselfs and head to the temple of Alemi, after stopping by the gate of the city. Gilan calls for his animal companion, which quickly joins you.
As you walk towards the Temple of Alemi you see no signs of the Red Eyes. Soon you are at the entrance. Kendry has cast a spell that allows you to speak in whispers, even when far apart.
You enter the temple and are immediately hit by the contrast between the temple of Gargul and Alemi. Where Gargul's temple was dark and filled with incense, Alemi's temple is brightly lit. Light streams through windows and is caught and reflected by countless crystals.
As you enter, you see an young priest near the entrance.
"Hello, for what purpose do you pay a visit to the Temple of Alemi? I am Aralius, and am on duty here serving Alemi."
OOC: I am gone for the rest of the week, and have asked Al to sub.
Bralin Wednesday September 7th, 2005 7:56:42 PM
Bralin takes Nezamil's offered hand. "I am Bralin Stoneminder," he answers the greeting.
Other than that, the dwarf never says a word. He simply trails the group around the city and into the Temple of Alemi.
Podo Wednesday September 7th, 2005 8:42:31 PM
Podo follows the group. He notices how Corela has taken a might be fancy to our Gilan. Good for her...and him... Podo thinks to himself.
Podo, upon entering the temple of Alemi stands in awe. "OH! AH! So this is what a temple to my Master's Master is like." Podo says to himself aloud. Podo then meanders over to the priest called Aralius to interact with him. "Hi! I'm Podo Danderfluff Pipewood from teh Crescent Valley. I am a humble Monk of Domi. My Friends and I are here visiting. My you have a lovely Temple. Nothing at all what I thought!" Podo says with excitment in his voice. "So, what are some of the major points of interest within the temple, Father Aralius?" asks Podo of Aralius.
Patterton Thursday September 8th, 2005 12:18:09 AM
Patty looks at the Temple Gaurd and nods a greeting. "Patterton Cloverturn Burrows, at your service," he says without a hint of humor.
Gilan Thursday September 8th, 2005 12:31:12 AM
Gilan is happy to be back out and when he is caught by Corela he nods to her and glances around. "They will be dealt with by the guard or so the Captain said." He smiles at her till she grabs his hand and brings him back around for a kiss. He does not hesitate but returns it in kind, urges filling his body. When at last she tears herself away from him he cannot help but meet her eyes with a smile. "If I get the chance I will most definitely look you up again." His voice is husky with other ideas and going to the temple of Alemi is not at the top. "May Mother Wold watch over you as you sell her bounty and we will watch for trouble as you warned."
Looking to the others of the group and catching some of the looks he just smiles. He moves off some with the others be be joined by a large wolf who he drops his hand down to run his fingers over her head. "Behave yourself with the cat...a friend Shaylin is." He scratches behind the ears of the large wolf as he smile to Peerimus.
The temple is way different from the last one and he finds that he likes it better, though the crystals do turn the light into a pain if you look the wrong way. He looks to the priest and drops his hand to the wolf's head again to keep him calm. "Easy friend." He lets the others take care of the talking as he watches and looks around.
Airin and Erwen Thursday September 8th, 2005 4:09:22 AM
Airin's pleased when all start to walk towards the temple of Alemi.
As the young Priest greets them at the entrance Airin makes a short bow and returns his greetings : "Well met sir. My name is Airin Moondancer Turnbell. This eagle here is Erwen ... she dislikes temples, but I hope she will behave herself. Is she allowed to enter with me ?"
Then she strokes Erwens' featheres gently whispering to her : "Please be calm this time Erwen. This temple is not as dark and smelly as that other one. You will still see the sun in there ... trust me my friend."
Kendry [sub Inge] Thursday September 8th, 2005 8:37:33 AM
[with Kim's preface]
As Kendry sees Tueful mourning his loss, Kendry tells him, "It was the Red Eyes, sir, who did this." He explains what happened at the guard station. "Look, I cannot address your problem this instant. But I will do what I can to get you back on your feet, Mister Tueful, as soon as I can. After you have gathered together and stored what you can," he concludes, "calculate what it would take you to get going again. If there is justice in this Wold, I will do what I can to recover at least some of what you have lost from those who stole it - the followers of Marteaus." After saying that cursed name, he spits, to remove the distaste from his mouth. "Take this very small token as my pledge," he says, and gives him three platinum pieces.
After casting the message spell, he asks his companions - "Might we not swing by a city gate, either now, or after we visit Alemi's Temple of Light, that he might call his wolf?" And, just after he asks this question, the need for the side trip is obviated. "Oh, uh, oh! Your wolf came, Gilan!" The halfling eyes the wolf, the cat, and the eagle, to see how they negotiate each other's company.
===============
ooc : Kim if you can post after all just delete this ... no one can have Kendry rambling the way you do ;-)
"Nice to meet you Sir Aralius! My name is Kendry Leafwin Pipewood and - like Airin, Patty and Podo - I come from the Crescent Valley. We would love to visit the Temple of Alemi - would you be willing to give us a little tour?"
Kendry does not take out the tapestry they received in the temple of Gargul yet. First some small talk - then business.
Wilfire Ironhouse d20+11=27 Thursday September 8th, 2005 9:11:57 AM
Wilfire muttered a short prayer to Alemi as he entered the temple.
"Greetins! Me name's Wilfire Ironhouse, but me frens call me Wilf. As yue might be able'ta tell, I'm a cleric dat pays a fair bit a worship'ta Alemi... Anyhow, it be appreciated if yue'd show me frens around da house dat Alemi built".
Peerimus and Shaylin d20+17=27 d20+13=31 d20+13=15 d20+6=24 Thursday September 8th, 2005 9:42:03 AM
Peerimus follows the halflings and a small smile crosses his mouth at the company he is with. They must be quite a sight in the city. He and Gilan tagging along with a bunch of halflings and some dwarves.
Shaylin's claws dig slightly into his chest and his thoughts snap from thier drifting to focus on his senses. [spot 31] The city is already distracting him and he doesn't like that fact. His keen vision picks the source of the cats discomfort, a powerful wolf is heading thier direction. The mannerism in which the animal pads along conveys quickly to Peerimus that it is no threat.
Peerimus' left hand reaches to give the leopard a reassuring touch, "Magnificant friend brother" He says to Gilan and then to Shaylin, "Now Miss Mischief you are not to tease him and expect me to save you. Understand?"
The group reaches the temple and is greeted by the cleric. Peerimus remains silent behind his fellow heroes, mostly becasue he is still trying to catch up. He knows the big picture, it is the details and challenges along the way he is unsure of. But since the others know, it is not that important that he know and the druid is quite satisfied with that. he too remains more vigilant to without then the goings ons within. [spot 15, listen 24]

The Cleric of Domi bows and says his respects to the priest of Alemi
DM Al Thursday September 8th, 2005 4:54:31 PM
Introductions all around.
Bralin, Patterson, and Nezamil are clipped and to the point.
Gilan and Peerimus wait silently while the preliminaries commence.
Podo and Kendry are effusive in their praise and questions. They along with Wilfire all hint at the possibility of a tour of the temple.
Animals of all sizes crowd in through the door along with the crazy mixed bag of humans, dwarves and halflings. And in the mix Airin's question gets completely lost.
The young priest, an acolyte by the markings of his robe, stares blankly at the group of thunderous visual cacophony.
Voices die, and still the priest stands. He says nothing, filling the room with an uncomfortable silence.
"You want ... a tour?" he finally asks. "Are you ... " he breathes a deep sigh of infinite tolerance " ... sure you don't want something else? Something more ... important? Because if you don't have anything more ... important in mind, then I most certainly have more important things to attend to."
"By the perfect teeth of Alemi," he mutters and rolls his eyes, "What a day. At least this bunch is civil."
Kendry Thursday September 8th, 2005 6:05:14 PM
"Yes, we have something more important in mind. Which we will not stand and discuss at the public entrance," Kendry says amiably. "Bless Alemi, we bring news of his enemies, both ancient and contemporary, and request an alliance and mutual succor. Is that important enough, Aralius, servant of Alemi?"
Podo d20+5=12 Thursday September 8th, 2005 10:45:38 PM
Podo stands behind Kendry to show a unified front to the priest. In addition, he will look around at the ceilings to see if there is anything he can spot that might help in their investigations. (spot=12)
Not moving his body, but just his head, Podo looks around but doesn't see to much due to all these crystals projecting weird lights throughout the temple.
Airin and Erwen d20+11=22 Friday September 9th, 2005 3:16:02 AM
Airin's keen ears heard Aralius's muttering and could not help but hear something about a ... second group ...
"Excuse me Master Aralius, what do you mean by a second group ? "
Hopefully Erwen will sit quietly on Airin's arm not pulling a stunt like the one in Gargul's temple anymore.

Peerimus and Shaylin Friday September 9th, 2005 12:26:33 PM
Picking up pieces of the puzzle, well we are expected then it seems here. Gargul and Alemi seem to then be working together in this. interesting. I wonder if others are and if there is a divine conspiracy then? The druid makes a further mental note to speak with Gilan further on this matter.
Peerimus remains still, allowing the others to still take the lead in the matter. Shaylin purs in his ear from her position across teh humans broad shoulders.
Gilan d20+8=20 d20+8=16 Friday September 9th, 2005 3:30:35 PM
Gilan keeps his hand resting upon the head of his friend and listens to what is said. The idea of a tour being brought to an abrupt halt did not bother him any...buildings were not much to his taste. He was more at home in the wilds, especially the tall grasses of his home.
He moves closer to Peerimus and speaks to him in druidic. "Another group he says...what do you make of that?" He tries to keep his eyes and ears open for any trouble. Speaking again in druidic he poses a question that would stop most in thier tracks. "How many of the gods and goddesses do you think are working in this...the Dark One involved?" His arched eyebrow tells you that he thinks this unlikely.

Nezamil patiently surveys (d20+5=19 spot ch)the the inside of the temple of Alemi as Kendry takes charge of talking with the young priest
Making sure his anvil pendant is visible "good brother of Alemi we certainly have more important things to discuss .....our good friend here (points to Kendry)is right, is there someplace more discreet we could talk " inquires the dwarf
Wilfire (by Kim) Friday September 9th, 2005 8:07:32 PM
"Well, did doze uders, doze uncivil uders, wear red circly eyes on deir shirts?" Wilfire asks the acolyte.
DM Al Saturday September 10th, 2005 7:09:51 AM
Kendry replies that the group does indeed have something important to speak about. And Nezamil reveals his religious affiliations. Both request a change of venue, somewhere that they might speak with more privacy.
Nezamil looks about the temple. Podo, next to Kendry, does as well. It's The Temple of Alemi. Magnificent in Light and Air. Nothing lurking about. No mysterious darkness. No surreptitious listener who turns away suddenly when noticed.
Nothing.
Patterson makes a comment about the acolyte's attitude.
Peerimus speculates upon conspiracies of the Divine. While Gilan broaches the subject to his fellow druid of the priest's brief mention of another group.
Airin and Wilfire have also noticed this, and they inquire of Aralius about it.
"Yes, yes," the priest replies, "red and eyes and everything." The man flutters his hands. "I tell you, the way they crowded around, the questions and the pressure. I thought I was done for. But, such is the power of Alemi! I stood my ground and sent them packing with a stout word and the golden dragon of Alemi at my back."
"But I'll tell you," he says in confidence, "I nearly wet myself."
"So, what was it that you wanted? Talk, yes? Discreet. Enemies, Ancients, and Contemporaries. Er ... Right."
Aralius' eye turns dubious once again.
"You wouldn't mind telling me a little more of what this is about, would you? You're ... you're such a rabble. Animals in the temple ..."
"Many pardons, fellow brother," he says as an aside to Nezamil.
"By the Bitter Teats of Jancassis, at least give me a hint before I embarrass myself by bringing you lot in where someone might see us!"
[Thanks guys. Monday you get Kelly back. It was fun. -- Al.]
Kendry Saturday September 10th, 2005 5:54:47 PM
Kendry sighs. He takes a deep breath. "Well, it is well that you showed courage in the face of the red shirts. And, you want a hint. You've heard of Ebryon, King of the Fae, perhaps? Excessive plant growth? Floods? Chaos? Perhaps you can take us to discuss these matters with someone here interested in helping us to solve the problems that my cousin, Ebryon, is causing. Or, you can leave us here, tapping our toes. Look, Aralius, I don't mean to be rude, but as you worry about some momentary embarrassment, more people suffer and die. We would like to change things for the better. Are you willing to risk a little, that the Wold might gain a lot? You showed the courage that Alemi granted you earlier today. May he grant you the courage, and the wisdom, to make a simple request of your superiors in the order. May we speak with them? Now? Please?"
Patterton d20+11=29 Sunday September 11th, 2005 4:51:30 AM
Patty contemplates punching this fool in the gut and dragging him into an alcove where he can be questioned more discreetly, but he holds himself in check.
"Must we stand here listening to you prattle on all day? The "rabble" is getting restless and we haven't the time for your nonsense. Lead on." (Intimidate = 29 if necessary)
Gilan d20+8=27 d20+8=9 Sunday September 11th, 2005 3:09:33 PM
With a sneering smile to the young priest he speaks. "I will wait on the steps then...animals are not welcome it would seem." He turns and makes for the door not wanting to soil the great temple of Alemi.
The outside is more to his liking anyways and he settles into a spot on the steps with his friend at his side, now laying on the stone. "Will be a good day to leave this place." He absently rubs the head of the large wolf as he dreams of the grasses of the Plains.

Bralin Sunday September 11th, 2005 5:20:36 PM
The dwarf patiently waits. He is still and silent, his stonelike face betraying no emotion whatsoever.
In his past, Bralin has sat in contemplation in The Chamber for many days without effort. And in his recent explorations of the Wold, he has found that a great percentage of the noble races enjoy this idle chattering, sometimes for many hours, before coming to the crux of the issue.
Out of long habit, he wills his mind back to The Chamber, and waits.......
Peerimus and Shaylin Sunday September 11th, 2005 7:17:36 PM
Answering Gilan in Druidic, "I was thinking the same thing. It is obvious Gargul and Alemi are together and there may be more. We will be getting a very slanted depiction of Fae Kings return and reasons for his slumber. We may need to intercede brother."
Peerimus remains where and takes in a bit of the grand open feel of the temple from his current postition. Everything seemed rather pleasant enough to him, but then oh no. the most sure fire way to not get through a beuracracey Peermius's head turns as Gilan leaves with the wolf to wait on the steps and the various members of the group lay into the acolyte.
Peerimus makes eye contact with the Alemi follower, "Please excuse me a moment." Taking a step back, he turns and lets Shaylin down. Moving a few steps out side Peerimus retrievs a waterskin and prcedes to give the leopard a drink. Maybe when they are done
Airin and Erwen d20+10=28 Monday September 12th, 2005 6:53:37 AM
There's not much for Airin to do while the others more talkative ones talk to Aralius. What worries her more is the red eyes.
Where did they went ?!?
If this temple is high enough for Erwen to fly in, Airin whispers to the bird :
"Erwen, fly up to the roof of this temple and try to look for the Red Eyes we saw earlier. When you see them, come back to me, and point us in their direction ... do you understand ? ... hurry my friend."

DM Kelly Monday September 12th, 2005 5:21:57 PM
OOC: I'm back, thanks to Al for covering for me!
Outside, Gilan and Peerimus await with their animal friends. Looking about, all seems calm. Then, a deep fog forms in a small area near the temple grounds. Stepping through the fog, you see a woman followed by a crocodile. She is talking to the creature, and then seems to talk to a small lizard on her shoulder. It is clear now that she is human, and dressed in robes. She walks toward the temple entrance.
Inside the temple: The young acolyte stands firm, bombared with questions about 'superiors' and 'the Fae King'. Meanwhile, it seems like his authority is eroding away.
The group is getting upset, and all he wanted was to know their business. How better to help than to know what help is needed?
Erwen flys about inside the cavernous temple, but does not report any sighting to Airin. (OOC: Are you using 'speak with animals'?)
"Look, I stand here and try and help those who seek solice in the temple. Yet you come in here, with your pets(gesturing to the eagle), and demand to see my superior without so much of an explanation, at least not one that makes sense. Talk of prattle, you are wasting your time. I'm a servant of Alemi, not some street urchin you can push around."
As he vents, his voice gets high and his face gets red. Behind him, a white robed woman approaches. She has the bearing of someone who is calm with her authority.
Her voice is soft, yet carries well.
"Aralius, I see now why you are still an acolyte. You must remain calm in stormy times. If you cannot be calm and civil to visitors, how will you bear up during trying times? Go to your prayers, now."
Aralius has a look of shame in his eyes, and with a quick glance to the group he then nods to the woman.
"Yes Sister Silvyre, I will go pray."
He is soon gone, and then the woman turns to you.
"This is no way to welcome visitors. All are welcome inside, Alemi loves the creatures of the Wold as well as all people. Please, tell me what you need."
Those waiting outside hear the welcoming tone and invitation from the woman. Your searching has not revealed any priests of Marteaus, nor anyone else who looks suspicous, save the strange woman with the reptile friends.
Peerimus and Shaylin d20+17=34 Monday September 12th, 2005 5:40:23 PM
Peerimus views the woman moving towards them with the two animals, A wizards as well then. Standing and giving Shaylin a route to climb aboard to her spot upon his shoulders, [handle animal 34] Peerimus plants his staff against the stone with a powerful Whack!
Witha a slight incline of his red and black paited face, "Daughter of Mother Wold. I am Peerimus and my brother Gilan. This is my ward Shaylin and his companion. Welcome. The little ones have just cost an acolyte some time to his position, but is sounds as if more patience has arrived." With a slight wink, "I feel any dealing with them shall need it in great abundance."
Peerimus starts to move inside, "Brother are you coming? You should you know, It's good to meet as many of the others as possible."
Patterton d20+2=13 Monday September 12th, 2005 10:28:29 PM
Patty smiles at Sister Silvyre and gives a short, polite bow. "Please forgive me for the rude way that I spoke to your acolyte, ma'am. I do not care for the young man's attitude, but I can see you are a woman of refinement. We have come to speak with you about a matter of great importance. May we have a private audiance?" (diplomacy 13)
Kendry d20+10=17 Monday September 12th, 2005 11:35:17 PM
Smiling, Kendry says of Aralius, "He reminds me of one of my brothers. I trust, with seasoning, he'll come along fine."
Once Patterton has asked for a private audience, Kendry adds, "Ma'am, we do come on a matter of some urgency. There are those who would oppose Alemi, as well as what we strive to accomplish. As discretion is... recommended, might you have an area with wards against scrying? We should be pleased to let you, and any of your wise sisters and brethren, know our aims, request your counsel, and see where we go from there." [Diplomacy 17]
Podo Tuesday September 13th, 2005 12:03:43 AM
Podo nods to his friends and Welcomes the new arrival, Sister Silvyre. He stays silent allowing his friends to do that talking.
Gilan Tuesday September 13th, 2005 1:41:56 AM
Gilan watches the human woman approach and takes in the animals with her. He figures a druid and wizardess from the looks as few druids travel with two companions. He stands slowly as Peerimus greets the lady and he nods to her, giving a slight bow. "Well met." A smile touches his lips but does not go any further as he does not want to frighten her with his more...primal conditions.
He turns his head to regard Peerimus and nods his head in understanding. "You maybe right...I have taken too much to the way of the animal it seems...my patience is so thin now." He waits for the lady to get closer and then let her pass to enter the temple first. It is a show of respect for him that he grants few...other druids being among them.
With another smile at Peerimus he shakes his head. "They will need the new ladies patience in there for the little ones...though I am sure that caution is kind of moot at this point." He looks back out to the streets for signs of those redeyes. "I am sure they know much that we do and maybe more...I also do not trust the gods to tell us all of the GreenOne." He has his suspicions on how favorably the gods will talk of the Fae King and how much they will push to have him killed or put to sleep as a last resort.

ooc to DM Kelly : no I'm not using a speak with animals spell. I'm hoping for the Eagle to somewhat understand what Airin talks about - that's what I rolled a handle animal for. But it's at your willing of course :-D
Airin's not the one to talk much. Instead she prefers to wander around the temple ...
She watches the group, where they are going, and wanders of to the side of the temple. There, she tries to keep a constant line of sight to her friends, and then follows the temple walls. Observing, listening, sneaking, no weapons drawn , almost like someone who is praying as he walks. Only Airin's mind is not at all set on prayers to this God.
She looks up to the roof, hoping to catch a glimpse of Erwen as she flies through the temple. The fact she has not returned to airin comforts Airin - no sight of the Red Eye's then ...

Tishe' Tuesday September 13th, 2005 12:43:47 PM
The plain-faced woman steps from the cloud and looks around in momentary confusion. She seems equally concerned that she's wearing her formal beige robes rather than her normal travelling clothes, but there are other matters more important, like where is that Oakclub Walker?
Turning brown eyes to the reptile at her side, "looks like we weave our own threads now, Snout", she says. "Which way to go?"
The crocodile gives a toothy grin and swipes his tail at the large white temple nearby. "Sharp needle!", she says brightly, and walks towards the temple only to be stopped by two familiar faces. She pushes the hood of her formal robes away from her face.
"Peerimus! Gilan! How wonderful to see you here!" Tishe' tosses her brown ponytail over her shoulder. "You are so sweet to be so formal, but not necessary this time. Many Shadows", bows the short human towards Shaylin. "If you are seeking answers in the temple, perhaps I can weave some help as well?"
She moves in line to accompany Peerimus and Gilan, a desert toad on her shoulder and the crocodile waddling after.
DM Kelly Tuesday September 13th, 2005 6:18:04 PM
Patty mentions the young acolyte's poor attitude and asks for a private meeting.
Kendry also asks for a private meeting, and mentions he thinks that Aralius has rough edges that will likely be rounded with time.
In response to these comments, Sister Silvyre says:
"It is I who should apologize. That is no way to be greeted. Aralius has the mistaken idea that serving a god makes one important. If he can only learn it is not so, then I believe he will make a fine priest one day. Only time will tell. Yes, we could talk privately. We have a chamber for just that purpose."
The druids meanwhile greet a newcomer, crocodile and all. When they first saw her coming from the fog, they mistakenly thought she was wearing a robe. Now that the mist has cleared, it is obvious that she is wearing a traveling outfit. The wolf and jaguar at first are uncomfortable around a creature who could bite them in half, but are soon calmed by their druid companions.
The dwarves seem content to let the halflings do the talking, craving action over discussion.
Airin is trying hard to communicate with her eagle, and seems to be able to command it to search. Hopefully it is searching for the Red Eyes and not a rabbit.
Silvyre again invites all into the temple, and then leads the party down a short hall into a nicely appointed room.
"This room will cancel all scrying spells, or communication spells of any kind. What we say here will be private."
As she shuts the door the whisper spell seems to fade to nothing.
Podo Tuesday September 13th, 2005 8:35:41 PM
Podo stands around wondering. Ah, allow there, Miss..? I'm Podo Danderfluff Pipewood of Crescent Valley, Monk of Domi. Erwen probably enjoys a flight through the temple ...
Airin keeps low profile. Hiding behind pillars, benches, anything she can find in this temple of light. Hoping - well ... maybe NOT hoping - to catch a glimpse of the Red Eyes that entered this temple before her.

"I agree with you brother, I fear our role may change in regards to the Fae King and our companions."
Peerimus moves into the temple and follows the priestess. as he passes Airin, "I will let everyone know." Once inside, the druid finds a location against a wall to lean where he is out of the way and can listen.

Kendry Wednesday September 14th, 2005 2:30:55 PM
Airin gets his attention. "All right, sweets," Kendry whispers to her. "Remember, though, that we were told that the Red Eyes were turned away at the door - so I'd be surprised if you find any here - but it's good to have you watching out for us. Take care."
As the others enter, Kendry introduces himself, "Kendry Leafwin Pipewood, at your service," as well as his friends and companions to Tishe'. "Oakdale sent you? Welcome."
"Thank you, Sister Silvyre," he says as all (save Airin?) are ushered into the chamber.
"I will try to make this succinct. Though some of my words may raise ire, I pray patience, as I serve as a truthful reporter. My cousin, Ebryon, King of the Fae, at whose rebirth as a satyr I and my good friends here - Patterton, Airin, who is with her eagle, and Podo - were present, slandered the good Alemi. He claimed to be older than Alemi, having known him when he, that is Alemi, was a mere mortal. He claimed him to be greedy. He said that he went insane for a time when he took the form of the dragon Lemtrovex. Many other dark things he spoke of, shortly before he attacked a multitude of druids, and we subdued him momentarily.
"Forgive my repetition of these things in your presence, good sister. But it is about Alemi, and Gargul, and Ebryon that we come to speak with you - as well as the Dark Lord, Marteaus." The halfling moves to spit at the mention of the latter, but, remembering where he is, refrains, and swallows.
He reaches in to his quiver and withdraws a scroll case. "The Temple of Gargul recently received a delivery of books and records from the Temple of Light. Among them," he says as he opens the case and carefully removes and unfolds the ancient tapestry, "this was found."
He turns to his companions. "Perhaps someone else here might wish to state what the priest of Gargul surmised?"
Tishe' Wednesday September 14th, 2005 4:45:18 PM
The brown-haired woman steps up the temple and follows Peerimus into the white halls. She tries to keep out of the way to observe and learn, but the seven foot reptile following her is hard to miss.
Snout grins at the small halflings in the room. If he stretches up, he could look at them eye to eye, he thinks.

At the sight of the lady and reptile Nezamil takes a half step back ....arching an eyebrow at the 2 newcomers as he hears Oakclubs name mentioned .
As the dwarf towers over the halflings he nods a welcome to the lady " good to meet you....so Oakclub sent that is good we welcome more help on this quest......i'm Nezamil of the brotherhood of Domi " as the dwarf introduces himself " welcome to you and your friend as he looks at the reptile"
As the others mill about Nezamil takes a peek at his boots then back to the reptile " hmm

DM Kelly Wednesday September 14th, 2005 6:08:04 PM
Sister Silvyre listens as Kendry explains the complexity of the situation. Talk of the tensions between the gods has her nodding.
"Yes, there are those who would slander Alemi, claiming past weakness and petty sins. Once I would have been upset, as our dear Aralius gets, at such insinuations. Yet it is the destination that is important, not from whence you came."
When the tapestry shown to her, she shows a strong interest.
"May I?" She gestures, taking the tapestry into her hands. She holds it up, so that it is well illuminated.
"We know Gargul has had a change of heart, one which the followers of Marteaus do not agree with. It is clear that he was involved with the delivery of souls to the monsters. Alemi prevailed, but at a high cost. As to the involvement of Eberyon, this may provide a clue."
Looking at the group, she adds:
"You say that this came from here? Aralius mentioned that the Red Eyed priests came here demanding a tapestry fragment. They were turned away. Perhaps this is what they sought. Wait here, I think there is more to learn from Aralius."
Sister Silvyre steps from the room and comes back with Aralius in tow.
"Please explain to the folk what you know about the tapestry, and the inquiry of the Red Eyes."
Aralius looks at her and nods, but his glare given to the group is one of anger.
"Yes, I found the tapestry when I was going through some old books. When I saw Gargul's name on it, I sent it to his temple. Apparently they did not want it, as they gave it away. I guess I should have kept it. The Priests of Marteaus came looking for it. I suppose they have a claim on it as well, as they worship the old Gargul, the one depicted on the tapestry. Had I still had it then I suppose I would have given it to them. Unfortunately, when they came and found it to be gone they were very upset, and threatened me. Imagine, threats against a chosen follower of Alemi. They are lucky that they were not struck dead by Alemi himself."
Airin, highlight to display spoiler: Highlight to display spoiler: {As you look around the temple, you see that several Red Eye priest of Marteaus have come to the temple door. Kendry d20+10=28 Wednesday September 14th, 2005 6:51:09 PM
Just before Silvyre goes to find Aralius, Kendry quickly interjects, "Might someone here know the text written along the edges of the tapestry? Perhaps these words can tell us something, as well, about those days.
"One thing, too, is this orb. Do you know the nature and provenance of the sphere?"
When she returns with the prideful acolyte, the hobbit listens to his words, and considers his emotions.
"Aralius, please, quell your anger. We are not your enemies. We simply sought a private place to speak. Forgive me, please, for my inability to make clear enough to you the need for privacy and discretion in this matter. The followers of Marteaus you mention would use this for evil. You may feel that you were not treated by us with the full measure of respect and deference due an acolyte of Alemi.
"Remember, please, Aralius, I have not once threatened you. And I am short, and small, and am no threat to you. Can we be friends?
"Think, too - by your action of passing this on to the Temple of Gargul - you have saved the tapestry from the hands of the Red Eye priests. This old cloth may help us to check Ebryon and his wild ways. It might be that Alemi, therefore, has made you one of his instruments in thwarting the King of the Fae, not to mention the Red Eyes. But, if such be so, let that notion fill you with grateful humility, and not with pride. Pride puffs up. Love and humility build up.
"If it is anger you feel, let it be toward the followers of Marteaus, and not toward us. I am a believer in Alemi, and to him I pray. We are, therefore, brothers, Aralius. I am Kendry. Though brothers might wrangle, we ought to present a united front against those who oppose Alemi and his ways, ought we not? Please, temper your anger. Can we be friends, and not opponents?"
Kendry holds out his right hand towards Aralius to shake, waiting to see whether the young man will relent of his anger, and see him and the group not as obstacles, but as allies.
========== Regarding Kendry's question about the text along the borders of the tapestry, he is literate in: Auran, Celestial, Common, Draconic, Duncan's sign language, Dwarf, Elfish, Giant, Goblin, Halfling, High Woldian, Orc, and Sylvan. Does he recognize the lettering, the words, the meaning? If it helps: Decipher Script: 28.

Gilan Thursday September 15th, 2005 2:51:26 AM
Gilan could have been knocked over with a feather as he notices that the woman is Tishe'. "I must be getting daft...not to have recognized a fellow pack member." He does take the time to give her a hug and then let her pass as before. "Good to see you again." He follows along.
Gilan had walked into the room as much of what is said and he waits to hear about the tapestry. He is glad that at least they are going to get some information but he still wonders how skewed it will be. When the lady goes off to find the young acolyte they met earlier he rolls his eyes, but says nothing.
When at last they return and the young one has a chance to speak he shakes his head again. "Pride and anger." Though this is muttered under his breathe he fixes the young man with a steely gaze, his hand upon the wolves head all the time. Then a nice speech is given by Kendry and he cannot keep his mouth shut any longer. "Do not presume to speak for all of us...I have not agreed to side with or against this Fae King...I seek only unbiased knowledge of him." His eyes narrow ever so slightly and he knows that this could have been handled better...but he is still irked with this acolyte.

Since Airin is the only one who stated she was staying outside the meeting room, she is the only one outside the meeting room. All the others were invited into the room. Let me know if you have a strong disagreement with this.
Kendry Thursday September 15th, 2005 12:12:32 PM
The halfling responds to Gilan's clarification with a nod, and this comment. "I spent hours in Ebryon's company, questioning him, observing him, and learning first hand of his capricious, wicked cruelty, as he murdered scores of druids, whom he deemed failed stewards of the Wold. He is my cousin, born of my cousin. You want knowledge, Gilan?" He pulls from his haversack a scroll case, and withdraws a small bound booklet. "This is a record of his very words and actions, along with five sketches of the satyr Ebryon."
[This is a record of all that happened and was said in the Crescent Valley game, mainly focused on the period from DM Stephen's post of April 19th through May 31, 2005.]
Peerimus and Shaylin Thursday September 15th, 2005 1:03:07 PM
Peerimus remains a silent observer. So the Dark One is also involved in this As Kendry answers Gilan and produces a small book, Peerimus cocks his head slightly and then moves to have a closer look as well. "Failed stewards, maybe the exact words many of my brothers would use."
Peerimus will begin reading the account as written by Kendry.

Kelly: I think you are correct that the group came inside the protected chamber (as stated in your earlier post). If, however, Podo wants to be outside the chamber, that, too, might be allowed. At least, that's my vote - you, as DM, may decide as you choose. :-)
Tishe' and Snout Thursday September 15th, 2005 4:00:10 PM
Snout turns his unblinking gaze towards Nezamil as he curls protectively around his human's legs. Wait! Was that a... wink? The Dwarf may never know...
Tishe' listens to the clerics, Kendry, Gilan, and the others with an intense air as if trying to learn many things in a short period of time.
"A Druid may be a steward, but I've never been holding the land for a king. Protecting and managing the land for a Queen, maybe, if you want to give a face to the Wold." She considers her words seriously. "I am also undecided, and there is so much to learn."
DM Kelly Thursday September 15th, 2005 5:32:39 PM
Aralius seems to relax as it appears he is not on trail.
Nezamil's words of praise bring a contented look, which is tempered by Kendry's caution of pride.
"I'm sorry, I was under the assumption that you were angry with me for not doing your bidding. You must understand that the Tapestry has brought me trouble that I did not expect. Something so small, yet apparently important."
He takes Kendry's outstretched hand.
"I will try and quell my anger. It is just my mother was so proud that I joined the priesthood, and now it seems that I do nothing but trim candles and clean floors. I wish I could do something important, something to make her really proud."
Sister Silvyre seems pleased with Aralius' words, yet cringes when he adds that he only cleans and does nothing important.
"Aralius, all who serve are equally important. Alemi would not desire an unclean temple."
The druids seem to have a different take on the quest, and finally Gilan can stand it no longer. The search for knowledge not a preconceived action is what he stresses. You remember back to Oakclub's words, and the old druid gave similar advice.
Kendry gives a history of his encounters with the Fae King, and perks the interest of Peerimus.
Meanwhile, Wilfire cleans both of his ears. The dwarves are ready for action. Words seem to waste the day, as time is measured in action.
Looking at the Tapestry Sister Silvyre adds:
"I do not know the meaning of the orb or know the writing along the edge. Perhaps there is someone else who can give you more information. Come, let us seek him out."
She opens the door and you hear a commotion at the temple entrance. You see several Priests of Marteaus demanding to search the temple. Two old priests are confronting them, not allowing entrance without cause. The Red Eye priests seem ready to reach for their weapons.
As you leave the room, your eyes meet those of the Red Eye priests. You recognize them from the temple of Gargul.
Sister Silvyre says: "Come quickly, there is a back way. They can deal with them."
Airin is not visible.

This temple is her charge, and so Bralin moves to obey.
Gilan Thursday September 15th, 2005 9:48:59 PM
Gilan meets the eyes of Kendry with a glimmer of challenge. "You speak of being there which I will not dispute...but not all druids are the same...or even good." He looks to Peerimus and shakes his head seeing that he will not bring one so biased to see the need to see all side of the issue. "I will hold my judgement till I have all the facts...not your account of the events or anyone elses will sway me." With a look around at the others he cannot help but wonder how many have already made thier decision and have forgotten that they are on a search for knowledge not a mission of destruction. "I would very much like to talk to Elbryn as well...get his side so that I can get all the facts...though I doubt that noone is going to give me unbiased facts."
When at last it is time to seek out one that would give them more information he is quick to go. "I will read your account but not be swayed with just one side presented." He exits through the door to spot the redeyes as well. His hackles raise but the priestess's voice cuts through any thoughts that he may have had. Moving along with the others he keeps one eye upon those that will most likely be met later. He silently mouths his own oath. "Till we meet again...nature's wrathe will not be denied long."
Gilan knows that nature is a choatic thing and not to be held in check by anyone. Maybe that is the failing for druids of this age. His musings do not settle well with him as he mutters to himself. "Is that our problem...have we failed Mother Wold...have we tried to tame her and control her." His eyes mist over as he thinks back to his own life with Mother Wold and wonders if he has been using her for personal reasons...molding her to his own needs.

The druid misses Gilans quiet musings on the possible failure of the druids of the Wold.

Kendry d20=6 Friday September 16th, 2005 7:40:33 PM
"You are right, good Gilan. Some druids tried to kill several young halfling mothers giving birth, and innocent babes just born."
"A competent judge does weigh the evidence before rendering judgment. I was inclined toward goodwill toward the Fae King, until I heard his words, observed his dissembly, and witnessed his deeds. At that point, further forebearance would have been wickedness on my part. Take whatever time is granted you - but, does it not show a measure of haste in your own judgment to state, before you even acquaint yourself with information, that it will in no wise sway you one direction or another? Is that not a prejudgment on your part? Just a thought, there, just a thought," Kendry answers Gilan in a light manner. "I suppose it is important to ensure that we do not allow facts and evidence to confuse us," he adds affably. Then, more seriously, he finishes, "I appreciate your desire to be equitable. And, one of my prayers is that Ebryon will temper his ill-considered actions, as he begins to see some of the, perhaps, unintended consequences. Should he acknowledge and repent, and seek to repair some of the harm he has caused, I am open to the possibility of forgiveness. His former partner Gargul changed for the better."
Before they leave the chamber, Kendry carefully returns the tapestry to the scroll case, and then into his quiver.
As they come out of the chamber, Kendry, in a stage whisper, calls out, "Airin - Airin! Let's go!" He does not see her [Spot 6+?]. He will not leave until...
Crash! Oof!
"Ah, there you are. Come, sweets. - Whoa - don't shoot me with that thing!" He helps her up, and hurries with her to catch up to the others.
DM Kelly Saturday September 17th, 2005 4:56:29 PM
Prior to the door flying open, Gilan and Kendry are having a discussion about Ebryon the Fae King. It seems that all group members do not see eye to eye. The problems of bringing druids along on an adventure is becoming clear. They do not see things the way others do.
As you exit the room, each of you see the Priests of Marteaus and utter words of warning of a coming battle. It seems that they are at your heels every step of the way. Clearly they have a strong interest in obtaining the tapestry, and it seems that they also desire to stop your investigation.
Podo wonders where Airin is off to, when she comes running around the corner and crashes into Kendry. Her crossbow cocked, she looks to have been ready to do battle with the Red Eyed ones alone. Erwen, comes flying after, and manages to avoid the collision.
One of the Priests of Marteaus calls out as Airin comes running.
"There they are, you are harboring criminals. Stop them or get out of our way!"
At that, the Priests of Marteaus come rushing through the entrance. The old Priest of Alemi who was confronting them raises his staff and a brilliant flash lights up the temple entrance. The Red Eyed priests seem to be blinded, and several of them fall to the ground covering their eyes.
Sister Silvyre urges you on:
"Come quickly while there is still time."
She leads you down into the interior of the temple, and then ushers you into an office where a priest is looking over a manifest.
"Brother Servante, this is the group sent by Ursis about the tapestry. We need information, and I'm afraid we don't have much time."
The old priest looks up from the manifest, and says:
"I will do my best to help. I have been researching the tapestry since it came to my attention a short time ago. I am in charge of maintaining contact with priests who are far away, and so I have sources of information not available to all. I also follow Ffloy, God of Trade. Let's just say that Ffloy has means of knowing the transfer of certain articles. The tapestry came back from an ancient temple of Alemi that dates back to the first age. The temple was originally found by a group of Pirates of Jack known as the Swords of Redemption. The city is now empty except for ghosts and other dangers. It is the former capital city of the Empire of Aisildur when it was called simply Isildur.
"May I see the tapestry?"
He carefully looks it over as Sister Silvyre explains what has been speculated about the meaning. She voices Kendry's questions about the sphere and writing along the edge.
"The sphere may be what was called the 'Fey Stone.' A device that allowed the transfer of souls from one creature to another. It is believed that Gargul used it to transfer souls into monsters, but it seems that he may have had help in doing so. As to the writing, it is from the first age and would require much time to decipher.
"I concur with Ursis now that this IS involved with the current goings on with nature attacking all manner of civilization. So, I have arranged for a gateway to be prepared to take you there. I must urge you to not speak of this gateway again as it is.....not known to the public.
"Good luck and know that the enemy you have faced this day, these Red Testers have backing from the HIGHEST places among the Gods of Testing. Beware.
"The gate is deep in the temple, you should hurry. Have you any questions before you go?"
Kendry d20+3=19 Saturday September 17th, 2005 8:20:34 PM
As the priest examines the tapestry, Kendry works hard on memorizing as much of the written script along the edges as he can (int check 19), so as to be able to reproduce it when not looking at the old cloth.
"A priest of Ffloy? I prayed a few weeks past a blessing of Ffloy over my newborn cousin, Clara - who is sister to Ebryon, though not otherwise, as far as I know, of his ilk. She is a true halfling, and he a strange satyr, born of halflings. Also a blessing of Alemi. Thank you for your aid, good Brother Servante, and you, Sister Silvyre.
"Have we questions? Yes: The gateway will take us to where? And we should expect to find what, or whom, there?" Kendry asks. "And, if by some good stroke the Fey Stone should fall into our hands, what might - what ought - we do with it?"
Wilfire (by Kim) Saturday September 17th, 2005 8:22:06 PM

The dwarf continues to allow the others to lead. Bralin is still very confused, and has yet to find a quiet moment to ask the leader of this band just what it is they are attempting to accomplish. By the Stone, determining who is the leader is proving troublesome.
And by the halfling's question to the Alemite, it seems no one is aware of what they attempt.
Podo Sunday September 18th, 2005 3:28:14 PM
Podo keeps quiet and follows Kendry to the gate, if not through is as well.
Podo tries his best to be alert and ready for whatever might be on the other side of the gate, especially if it/they are hostile!
Gilan Sunday September 18th, 2005 11:22:05 PM
Gilan looks to Kendry and shakes his head. "No actually I am keeping an open mind...I hear what you say and read what you recorded...now I will hear the other side of it." He shakes his head as all this thought is starting to wear upon his nerves...he has become a creature of action mostly, but he also knows patience. "I have learned the ways of patience from my animal brothers...I do not believe that this is a time for zealous action but contemplation on our part." He nods again as Kendry mentions the one idea that he can agree with. "Your last point is more to my liking really...if the Fae King can repent than I will see him live...I believe that in that case he will be beneficial to nature...I will not expect him to do anything radical though to prove his change as he may not be in full control right now." He tries to brings his thoughts together into one coherent explaination. "I believe that his imprisonment has left him seething with anger...he reacts to all that around him without thought or purpose but maybe revenge...even the gods it would seem had turned thier backs on him...took away his birthright though he may have worked evil at first...who is to say that he had no choice in the matter...I know instincts all too well and they are hard to fight at times...he may see this as survival...his survival." He smiles lightly to Kendry and then shakes his head again as the travel to the inner sanctum. "I do not make excuses for anything...just thoughts as you did."
Gilan listens with interest to all that is said and then just nods his head. Another dead end as far as he is concerned that leads to something else. He silently wonders when he will get the answers that they were sent to get.
He laughs lightly as the older priest mentions the gods of testing. "Gee...even the gods are against us in this and all we seek is information." He shakes his head and then moves in the direction indicated that will lead to the gate. "Let us see what we will find."

Patty listens intently to the scholar, often glancing over his shoulder at the direction that the Red Eyes are undoubtably pursuing them from. As the man speaks, he becomes enthralled in the tale.. 'Trials, gods, magical gates, ghosts and all!' he thinks, 'This should be a spot of fun!.'
As the telling comes to a close, Patty turns his attention to the office door, prepared for trouble if it should feel the need to kick down the door.

The gods of testing will be on their tails the entire way, the Fey Stone may be involved and it really does not appear that anyone has more than just a taste of what they are supoosed to be trying to accomplish. The dwarf follows Sister Silvyre and the others into the office with the elder priest and listens intently
At the mention of Pirates of Jack he speaks up " aye the tapestry was found at the ancient temple of Alemi... that i can confirm as a member of the Swords of Redemption myself "
"i'll hafta reflect back on me experince and see what details i can recall but with the red robes at our heels i'd say we should try and lose them quickly and get a good head start on them " the dwarf turns to Wilfire " with them dogging our heels in this quest we will undoubtably meet them again but lets do it on our terms not theirs "
