To The Finish
...And So It Begins

Assassination [DM Jerry]
Friday October 21st, 2005 10:15:50 AM

Eberyon stands, looking leaner and more stately by the moment now that his mind and strategy has been changed by the persuasive Ambassador of Peace, The Mighty Valdor!

He wipes his hand off and then smiling guiltily, casts a clean cantrip on himself. Then he accepts Valdor's hand. He smiles. Then he declares his toast, "Long live the Platinum Dragons!"

He then takes a sip of his drink, favoring it. Then he looks at it with an odd expression on his face. Shrugging, he then finishes the glass.

Suddenly Eberyon begins to look green in the gills. He gags, chokes, looks up reaching for help from Valdor.

His nose bloodies, his ears follow suit as his ear drums explode. He rears back and vomits pure blood.

"What?"

"Poison?"

Then he explodes. You are mostly ennured to things gross and smelly by now, but the shock of Eberyon exploding is the shock felt by all at the moment.

As the mess flies through the air, everyone feels the sting of something that burns the skin like acid.

[Craft: Alchemy, Knowledge: Nature, or Planes at DC20 to recognize what the burning material is.]

[Everyone needs to save vs. Fort DC25 or suffer 10d4 damage and 1d8 Con damage.]

Valdor is shocked as the regal being retches. He reaches for him only to have him explode. He's disgusted, but then turns angry quickly. He looks around and up to see who or what did this. He tells Cori,"Use your true seeing quickly. If someone or something is here, find it quick. Myrridan, Dahlia, scour this place for someone in hiding. Myrridan in the air, if possible, which for you, I know is. Let's do this people. The rest of us will spread out and block exits. Let's go!"

He sprints, leaping chairs, pews, any barriers in his way toward the stage area to get to that actors entrance.

Cori drops the glass in her hand as she watches the Far King explode. She is casting a spell even as the material that splatters her burns into her clothes and skin. Her eyes light as she searches the area for signs of others besides themselves.

She will report what she finds out and knows about the material that burns them and if she finds anything with her spell. "Do you think the vote did go bad for him?" That may explain the explosion but then again maybe not.

Dahlia
Friday October 21st, 2005 4:36:33 PM

As Ebyron turns green and then explodes, Dahlia is suddenly glad she poured that vial of anti-toxin in her wine.

At Valdor's command she is instantly alert, both for anything hiding and ony of the Platinum's wh might be showing signs of poison. Her next thought is of the servant who delivered the wine and then exited so hastily, so she heads toward where the servant exited and (still invisible) makes to folllow/find him/her.

Myrridan fights off the burning red mist that bellowed from the now fallen and gaping body of Ebyeron (Fortitude 35). He stares down in shock at what had hit him (knowledge/nature: 35). Corialote senses it too! It's Wold's Blood!! Further evidence shows itself as Ebyeron's goblet rolls over to Dahlia's feet. It appears to be melting. Once a fine treasure in itself, the cup quivers and shakes. The jewels encrusted around its rim and base are shattering and popping like corn over a fire. Wold's blood mixed with wine oozes onto the floor. The stone floor also begins to crack and disolve where ever the blood touches.

Myrridan mutters a few quick words of power while he sets his cup down on the floor (Shapechange) and transforms into a multi-eyed Beholder. His dozen or so eyes all whirl around looking in all directions as he effortlessly rises into the air.

Valdor rushes forward to trying to catch a glimpse of the assassin that brought Ebyeron his wine. Its impossible to make out any noise other than the screams, wails and screaks of the crowd. Its total chaos! Bodies of every description are trampling over each other to get to the exit. Some of those with wings take to the air. Many who try to escape and have the misfortune of running into the big, two-headed raging minotaurs and pounded to the floor with deadly gore attacks. While others are thrown into walls and slump to the floor. Those spared from the onslaught of the minotaurs are now bottlenecked at the door. Creatures of every type crawling and climbing over each other to get out. Some scream in fear, while others growl with fury. The doors might be blocked from outside.

(No ones tried to make spot or listen checks. You can opt to try and use any skill you wish to use on your own. So no one sees anything special except what I mention below.)

Corialote, with help of her spell, is able to notice that most the creatures dont appear as they are meant to be. Polymorphing and other transmutation magics seem to have been employed. The spell makes Ebyeron appear to be completely bathed in bright light. To such an intensity you must look away to keep from becoming dazzled. All others who look upon Ebyeron notice that that even though his body is mostly mutilated from the explosion, his hands and legs still twitch and his eyes are wide open. His expression frozen in complete terror.

Mordrid (cats grace, bulls strength, neut poison, prot elct)  d20=3
Tuesday October 25th, 2005 11:11:22 AM

Mordrid twists reflexivly to avoid the splattering of the late king. Then the ranger springs toward the king, grabbing his twitching hand.

Leaning over into Ebyron's ear, "On my honor, we had nothing to do with this assassination. Go to the next world peacefully, and harbor no ill will toward the Platinum Dragons."

Mordrid leans ever-closer to the kings lips to see if he has any final words.

Mordrid rears his head up like a dog baying at the moon, "KORRIG! You son of shame! I smell your presence you dog! Come out and fight like a man."

Valdor
Tuesday October 25th, 2005 11:46:19 AM

Valdor hears 'Woldsblood' and says,"I suppose it could be Korrig, but that stuff is almost impossible to transport. How would a person carry it without it destroying them?"

(Changed post as Jerry said the area was already cleared, it made Valdor's post unnecessary)

Onrad
Tuesday October 25th, 2005 11:55:37 AM

Onrad pulls out a healing potion and tries to find a place to pour it into Eberyon.

He stands there, pivoting in a circle looking for clues.

[OOC: the crowd is gone. Eberyon had them exit a few posts ago. So we will go with an empty room. Just Eberyon and you guys and....possibly whoever caused this.]

Tuesday October 25th, 2005 4:50:56 PM

Cori shakes her head and looks to the gore in a little bit of horror, one word escapeing her lips. "Woldsblood." She can tell that there is magic at play with those few that are left and the Fae King as well. "Magic is here but it is not that bad...transformation type stuff really...some not wearing true forms." She glances around some more trying to spot anything out of the ordinary...magical or mundane, her elven ears twitch.

A rod has reappeared in her hand and she looks to the whole room trying to gauge how large it is and if she can contain the inside with a spell that will stop anyone else from leaving. Raising her hands she brings them sweeping out and around herself as the words flow from her lips. She brings forth a wall of stone that will block off as many of the furtest doorways first as possible.

[Wall of Stone - 70 square feet of wall]

[listen 6 and spot 22]

Was not sure how tall the wall would need to be to block the exits or how long I could make the wall to reach as many exits as possible. :)

Dahlia
Tuesday October 25th, 2005 5:08:27 PM

Quickly reaching into her left front belt pouch Dahlia pulls out a clearish gem and throws it to the ground, smashing it. Suddenly appearing before her is an air elemental.

As it floats in front of her Dahlia tells it to find the person or creature that is trying to hide from us and may smell faintly like the Wold's blood on the floor.

Sorry for the wait. We're working out a little confusion :) We'll have a post for ya today (Jerry or I). As you can see, this is a confusing situation.

The Bag [DM Jerry]
Thursday October 27th, 2005 12:29:28 PM

As Valdor looks up at the ceiling, just for a moment, he sees a piece of ceiling chip off directly above them and drift downwards.

Then he sees a sack thrown over the edge of the amphitheatre ceiling and begin to float slowly downwards.

Eberyon slowly begins to heal. Sinews begin joining, liquid messes begin to coalesce in a pool sorting themselves out. His skull cracks as it pieces itself back together. Then reaching the limit of the healing potion, it stops.

[Horror save (Will) DC20 due to the violence of the scene. If you fail, you stare at the scene for 2-5 posts, branding it upon your brain and memory.]

Valdor, seeing the movement up high, is so intent that he misses the disgusting transformation. He says into his earpiece,"Cori, look up at the roof and see if you can see something. I saw movement. Mordrid could be right. If Wold's Blood is involved, there aren't many who would be brave or crazy enough to carry it. It could be Korrig. I'm going up."

He activates his Cloak of Arachnid and climbs the wall as fast as possible, all the while watching for any movement.

"Not alone you're not!" Mordrid says as he almost begins to follow Valdor.

Then he sees the bag, tumbling as if in slow motion, towards the floor.

Moving with as much speed as he can mustard, he darts thru the air to make a reception of the bag in mid air (60 feet?) Reflex save [29+9] of 38 if something arises.

Mordrid shouts "seek cover!"

Dahlia  d20+14=20
Friday October 28th, 2005 9:20:09 AM

Still invisilble Dahlia is intent upon the search of her elemental and does not see the action onthe floor, though some of the popping and gurgling is registered on some level. As Valdor make his announcement Dahlia directs the elemental upwards to help him and then moves herself off to one side.

Cori looks up as the others mention someone in that direction. She hopes that he true seeing spell will give her some indication of who might be there. She draws a wand from the pocket of her pants and slips the other rod back. "Give me a target." She hisses through her teeth.

Onrad
Monday October 31st, 2005 10:47:16 AM

Onrad overcomes his horror (DC 23) at seeing the body of Eberyon begin to regenerate and shakes his head to clear it.

Seeing Mordrid diving for the sack, he runs to soften the fall if he does indeed fall or to catch the sack if necessary.

Bag of Tricks! (DM Stephen)  d20=3 d100=48 d100=75 d100=5 d6=4 d6=6 d6=3

The bag lands soundly on the floor with no grand magical explosion. It makes a crunching metalic sound, much like a bag of coins, but is muffled by other small softer objects from within. Myrridan scurries over to the Fey King and applies his own healing magiks (Heal spell). His will is strong and doesn't lose himself to the horror of the scene (He only needs to roll better than 1).

Corialote notices instantly that all the fine decorations are nothing but a powerful illusion. The structure is simply an ancient ruin. Bare, cracked walls covered in countless centuries of grime, old bird nests, cobwebs and so on. She also sees the presence of many holes from which the bag could have been dropped through from outside. Beyond the holes, she can see fleeting images of countless large, winged creatures excitedly swarming about outside. However they move so swiftly by, it is virtually impossible to target any one creature in particular. It would be like trying to single out the queen bee from a swarm of thousands. Whatever is going on outside, you get the feeling that its much safer inside the theater.

Others like Valdor and Dahlia, who dont have the benefit of magical sight start to notice something strange about their surroundings. While everything still pretty much looks like it did before the attack, the magic of the illusion seems to waver a bit. Tiny bits of daylight pierce the magical vale giving the rest of you a chance to resist the illusion (Will save 28 vs. illusions. If you save, you see what Corialote sees, but not as clearly.)

Onrad and Mordrid are in range to retrieve the bag. It remains motionless on the floor. Its made with a green cloth with a fine gold draw string at its opening.

Myrridan's heal spell doesnt regenerate any missing limbs, bones or organs, but it seems to feed Ebyeron's natural regenative abilities and speeds up his recovery. As his jaw snaps back into position, he forms a slightly appreciative expression.

Corialote [true seeing]
Monday October 31st, 2005 11:11:31 PM

Cori locks her eyes on the forms moving outside and makes herself a little dizzy, until she shakes her head. "This is all illusion...the way the building looks and all of it." She glances to Valdor and nods her head to the outside of the building. "Seems that most of the disturbance is outside...things flying around out there but I cannot get an idea of what." She simply shrugs her shoulders as she cannot explain it further or better than that.

She does glance to the bag and then takes a few steps back, while she waits. The wand is still in her hand and she sees no other targets of anykind. "Do we move outside and do I need to bring down my own wall?" She is not sure she wants to know what is going on outside really.

Onrad
Tuesday November 1st, 2005 8:55:55 AM

Onrad waves Dahlia over to examine the bag. "You're the hero for this job."

He then keeps his eyes on Valdar and Mordrid above.

"Find anything?"

He checks to see that his potions of fly and levitate are where they are supposed to be in his belt pouch and ready to imbibe if needed.

"Has anyone noticed that all our magic has been working normally here this trip? No wild surges. No null magic zones?"

He ponders that against Cori's statement of illusions being present.

After looking around up on the walls and upside down on the roof, Valdor makes his way down and says,"I don't want to head outside yet...Good grief, what happened to Eberyon?! That's even more disgusting than he looked before!"

He shakes his head at the weird things he has seen since being around spellcasters.

DM Jerry
Thursday November 3rd, 2005 11:50:40 AM

A mechanical bird flies in heavily damaged. He makes his way for Onrad and lands on his shoulder. It then whispers something in Onrad's ear which makes Onrad turn absolutely purple in the face.

"This messenger informs me that my family has been murdered. I'm off. I'll return when it is appropriate."

He hugs everyone in turn and then blinks out with the ring.

Shortly afterwards, the bird, fixed and in better shape returns and lands on Mordrid's shoulder. Wrapped up in a package is a new and improved teleport ring (10 people, unlimited use) and a note.

::Beware my friends, I smell a rat. This was found on the murder site.

Holding it together for now for my uncle Onrad,

Konrad::

Taped to the back of the paper is a green dragon scale.

There are dried tears on the note.

Cori looks to Onrad as he comes over to give her a hug and returns it ten fold. "I will look after them...you take care of your business." Before she pulls away she whispers in his ear one last time. "Call on us if you need help...with anything." Her eyes flash with a hard glint as she lets him go.

Looking back to the bird as it reappears she glances around, the wand still in her hand. "Next move?" She does not move too close as she is not sure if this letter is personal as well. "More trouble?" She inquires slightly quieter than she had intended.

Valdor
Friday November 4th, 2005 12:50:22 AM

Valdor, still invisible, waits for Onrad to hug everyone else, then wraps powerful arms around the warrior. He holds him for a few seconds, then whispers into his ear,"You be careful, my friend. and call us there if you need us. Know that you will be missed, and we welcome you back as soon as you are ready.

The dragon scale could have come from anywhere, and this could be a ploy to get you away from the group. Individually, we are powerful, yes, but together, almost unstoppable. Remember that and don't do anything crazy before we are together again.

May Domi guide your sword arm in battle, and Alemi your heart."

Valdor is glad that he's invisible. Cori might have noticed tears on his cheeks, but he turns away and wipes his face dry.

When Onrad is gone, Valdor says aloud,"Where did Nonam go? We are shrinking like crazy here. Noone else needs to have a tragedy for a while. We need to stay together. We have Mordid, Cori, Myrridan, Dahlia, and myself...if we can't find Nonam, that is. Where is that loud mouth, anyway?"

Sunday November 6th, 2005 11:49:32 PM

Dahlia makes very little work at opening the green bag. Her elemental friend hasnt returned with news from above as of yet. Inside the bag contains an odd assortment of trinkets. The hilt of a great sword wrapped in a string of colorful beads. The blade had been broken off. Several signet rings. A lock of hair with a fine jade decorative comb. A bundle of cloth that is stamped with a red hand. Inside the cloth is a slightly mummified, skeletal hand. Slender and human in size and shape. On its finger is a fine, gem-encrusted, gold ring. The kind reserved for nobility. There is a dagger. There is also a pint-sized mug. Its handle looks meant for smaller hands. Dahlia's to be exact. In fact, it looks quite familar to the halfling. Last but not least, a few copper and silver coins.

Eberyon continues to regenerate. Myrridan maintains his watch over him. But his eyes go wide when he sees the hilt wrapped in beads. Its a look of shock and disbelief.

From what Corialote can see its easy to assume that the large winged creatures she sees darting past the holes in the roof are the same as all the large winged creatures they passed when they came here.

Valdor sees off Onrad. Blesses his journey and advises him to be cautious. With their numbers becoming more and more diminished, he takes stock in all who still remain. Where is Nonam? Good question!

Mordrid
Monday November 7th, 2005 12:06:11 PM

Mordrid leans heavily on his sword as he watches Dahlia go thru the sack.

He looks up at Valdor with concerned eyes that also have taken stock of their diminishing numbers.

Corialote [true seeing]
Monday November 7th, 2005 11:17:47 PM

"Valdor...I think the forms outside are those gargoyles we pasted getting here." She looks to the others and shakes her head not really sure what is next.

She has seen thier numbers go down with emergencies and is starting to get worried. "I can get us help in the form of other creatures...it will at least free us to deal with threats easier." She goes through her spells that she has left, only missing two really.

Will attach a spell list to my next post.

Valdor
Monday November 7th, 2005 11:47:42 PM

Valdor watches Dahlia's work, and is impressed, as always. He says,"You have a real gift, my small friend."

He watches Myrridan's reaction to one of the items and he says,"Is there one you like, Master Druid? I'm not particular when it comes to treasure and such. I am interested in knowing where that sack came from...or more specifically, who it came from. If anyone wants anything specific, let's hear it. I don't really care if I get anything. It can go into group funds, unless someone really has there eye on something.

Maybe if Eberyon wakes up soon, he can tell us about it...or maybe not. Cori, maybe we won't have to fight our way out of here...we'll see pretty quick, I'd guess."

He smiles at Mordrid and nods. It's that,'We'll be fine' look that normally gets them into a tight spot.

Mordrid
Tuesday November 8th, 2005 12:19:13 AM

"First off... it's not treasure. It's a 'bag' that someone who means us harm... has thrown down here for us to rifle thru. Touch at your own risk."

He turns to Corialote, "summoning allies is not a bad idea."

"I for one do not normally bring my friends into harms way..."

You notice, maybe for the first time, that this ranger doesn't have a traveling animal companion.

Mordrid acknowledges the look, "This line of work is too dangerour for animals."

"But, this is an emergency." The ranger prepares to cast a spell.

Dahlia looks over the mug and finds the name of a tavern, "Boars Beard Pub ... Brinkwater." And the memory suddenly rushes back. This is a mug that belonged to her foster father.

Myrridan springs forward and grabs the hilt of the broken sword. "This, this be the property of my dearest childhood friend." He points to the hilt showing an inscription in a strange language. "This is his name, Torq. These beads were once mine, back in the days when I was known as Mobay, before I became the Myrridan. They were buried with him! I broke his sword myself. A custom of my people. I buried him with it." Anger begins to burn in his eyes. "Someone has desecrated his grave!!"

Mordrid notices that the coins look to be from Osto. Other than that, there is something familiar about them. The amount looks to be 23 silver, 55 copper. The wages of his very first bounty. A fortune in those days.

Valdor notices a very distinctive 'V' on the comb stuck in the lock of hair!

One of the rings look very elven in style. The ring is black as pitch and studded with several shiny opals. Corialote can not mistake its origin.

The ring on the boney hand (that was wrapped in the cloth with the red palm painted on it) suggests a king owned it, but its feminine in size and style.

(Help me out a bit. Im not privy with everyones history. Pick something and go with. :)

Valdor face screws up in confusion. He looks at the comb and says,"This is really nice. But why would someone engrave my initial in it? And why would they get one just like the one I used ten years ago? This is weird. The hair is even the same color as mine. I lost mine some time back. I think it was in the fight with the Black Dragons. I forgot it was still in my pocket. But then, where is that one, I wonder?"

He looks confused. He shrugs his shoulders and, as if it always belonged there, puts the comb in his back pocket.

Cori moves over and slowly take the ring that had rolled out of the bag. Her mouth is agape as she looks to it and then her visage hardens. "My mentor wore this ring...he was burned in a mage duel...nothing of his was rumored to have survived that fight." She looks to the sky and tears seem to well in her eyes. "He saved many that day." She says no more as she holds the ring in her clenched hand, whipping away tears with the other.

With some effort she does compose herself enough to study the ring further and shake her head.

Clarifications (DM Stephen)
Wednesday November 9th, 2005 2:43:19 AM

(clarification: the comb with the "V" is a woman's decorative comb that's worn in the hair. The hair is the same color as Valdor's but its more shiny and silkier to the touch. Like a woman or young ladies hair. Someone that has Valdor's hair color, possibly his eyes as well. Same blood type too. Younger. Hint, hint. Sorry if I wasnt clear. :)

(Stephen, I know, but Valdor is a bit 'thick' at times not relating to fighting, strategy, etc., so I'm playing it as such. He's also a bit 'self confident'in his appearance and would have a comb like that. I gave him an Intelligence check to figure out it was his daughters, but he missed it. It was close enough that I'll give him another chance down the line a post or two)

Mordrid
Wednesday November 9th, 2005 2:36:17 PM

Mordrid picks up an Osto silver piece and holds it to the light. Turning it slowly between his fingers, he stares in wonder.

Stooping down the ranger runs his fingers thru the remainder of the coinage. "23 Silver... 55 copper... in Osto coinage. No strange coincidence that was my first bounty. What's this about?" as he scoops up the change and throws it back into the sack. Out of sight; out of mind.

Valdor  d20=15
Thursday November 10th, 2005 11:12:01 AM

Valdor is watching the others, when all of a sudden, he says,"That's my daughter's comb! Mordrid, it's Korrig. He's sending us a message, for sure. In the past we really just crossed paths, but never had a reason to chase him. It seems he's giving us a reason to do just that. Noone else that I've heard of would have the skills to collect this material.

I'm not overly concerned for my daughter's safety. I would think he wouldn't want to cross Caeroldra by killing her. But, I think it's time for Mordrid's old buddy to leave the lands of the living. He's made it personal to all of us now. Any disagreements?"

Setting the broken hilt back on the floor with the rest the items, Myrridan speaks up with an idea. "I have divinations that Ive prepared, that can possibly uncover who did this or where they are, but I need a natural pool of water." He looks to Corialote and asks, "What about you? Do you have similar divination magics? If we work in tandum, we can possibly break through any wards our foe may have in place."

Corialote remains clutching the black ring. Suddenly she hears a familar voice in her head. Highlight to display spoiler: {corialote ... my body iss noo morre. but i still exist within thee woollddd! trapped, imprisonedd, noo hope, noo restt.}

Valdor hears a ghost-like voice within his head. Highlight to display spoiler: {father ... help mee.}

Dahlia looks down in the mug. Its slowly fills with ale. In the bubbly liquid, the face of an old man appears looking back up, where Dahlia's reflection should've been. You're only distracted long enough to feel your elemental friend return. It mutters a few words his Auran and evaporates into nothing.

Mordrid ears are assaulted by a taunting laughter when he picks up the coins. Then suddenly ... From behind the party, Ebyeron speaks again. His regenerative abilites have almost healed him completely. "Hmmm Myrridan. A natural pool of water you need, a natural pool of water you shall have. Hmmmff, one of my favorite spells I see is still being used after all this time. Its my own creation. You druids have a long memory." He snaps his fingers and pieces of stone floor begin to fold away exposing bare earth underneath. The soil sinks into a hole and a crystal clear water begins to fill it.

Dahlia

a few tears roll doen the halfling's cheek as the image in the brew appears. Having just aparently taken a dose of anti toxin unnecessarily, Dahlia rises the mug and drinks it down in one gulp.

Looking up at Valdor's comment, Dahlia gets a grim look on her face. Valdor he could not have done this by himself. I will put all I own on the bet that he had a little halfling help. And I owe that certain halfling a near death experience.

Corialote

Cori's eyes harden as she hears the voice in her head. She has no idea if it is the real thing or just a implanted voice in her head. She looks to the others and nods her head. "I have a divination spell loaded...but only one." With the arrival of some clear water she moves over to take a seat upon the ground near it...her eyes still full of pain and maybe a tinge of hate. Really it is hard to tell with this drow as she hides it rather well.

Valdor

Valdor's face goes white. He stands stock still not saying a word.

Mordrid
Monday November 14th, 2005 7:20:42 PM

The voice taunts at the ranger, as Mordrid slowly spins in a maddening haze. He watches his friends and companions going thru a myriad of emotions.

The ranger shakes his head. "This is heavy medicine."

Mordrid looks at Valdor, standing with comb in hand. Making the connection; he knows what the warrior must be thinking. And the others... all with similar delimmas... must be in equal pain.

"Damn you Korrig. Do you think pride is leverage with me? Do you not know that my frends are motivation enough? You will die."

Myrridan looks to the mage and nods. "I'll get started and you can join in with your own spell. Im unfamilar with arcane methods." Myrridan looks back anyone who wishes to help. "Ok, for this to work, I need to know something about this Korrig. Mordrid, you seem to have been acquainted with this Korrig fellow in the past. Tell me what you know. The more knowledge you feed me will only hasten and strengthen the sensor." Myrridan gathers the items including the green bag they came in, and places them around the pool. "Everyone, please speak up and tell Corialote and I about your loved ones represented by these items. All living things in nature leave behind an aura, an essence. You empower these auras by thinking of them. Giving them a life of their own with your energy. Your loved ones energy still exists within you as long as you remember them. Nothing in nature never truly dies. As long as you exist, they will also. Its like a thread that binds us all in the grand tapestry of life. Think hard about them." Myrridan gives Corialote one last nod and he begins to chant. Placing herbs and incense in his hand, Myrridan mutters a few more words in druidic and his hand engulfs in flame. The contents in is open palm burns, and the smoke billows upward and swirls around. His voice continues to chant the melody in a low deep tone. The calm clear water of the pool begins to ripple and swell. The items around the pool slowly begin to faintly glow.

Ebyeron looks on and smiles with pride at the use of his spell. The druids hadnt forgotten it. Even the arcanist have devised their own versions. His lips silently mimic Myrridan's chant.

When Dahlia drinks from the mug. Memories of her time with her "father" rush suddenly back. She can even smell his tobacco. they got me ... they finally got me.

Valdor remains quiet for now. The true weight of the situation becoming evident.

Valdor
Wednesday November 16th, 2005 10:15:34 AM

Valdor hears Myrridan, but doesn't respond. He stumbles over by the pool, still holding the comb in his hand. His face is still pale as a ghost...and he looks close to some kind of breakdown. He looks less than a warrior for the first time in years. His arms are slack, his shoulders stooped, and his back bent over like an old man.

Cori simple nods to Myrradin as she takes a seat across from him. She lets him get into his own casting for awhile and then she closes her eyes and lays the ring by the water. Her voice takes on a life of it's own as she starts the hissing and rumbling language of the dragons. She can feel the power swelling in her whole body as she calls upon magic in an older form than most she has used in a long time. She passes her hands gently over top of the pool of water as they start to glow, three passes over it to be exact.

As she chants she calls upon memories of her former master, all the little details that a mages mind would not let go of. A light smile appears on her face and then is replaced by a more somber look. She slowly opens her eyes to stare into the water a low chant still being spoken but under her breathe now.

Dahlia
Wednesday November 16th, 2005 10:39:33 PM

Sighing as the memories and the last words come Dahlia watches in silent dread as Valdor moves away shrinking and closing off for the rest. Knowing she was not going to be wanted and ready to fend off the rebuffing she knew was about to come, the little halfling makes her way over to Valdor, activating her boots of flying so that when she reached Valdor she rests her hand on his shoulder and gives it a squeeze.

"Valdor, It is past. Neither you or I can change that. But we can make damn sure it happens to noone else. None of us here are alone in their grief and no one knows more about grief than us, unfortunately. We took that manlte upon ourselves when we became dragons. We made ourselves and our families targets. They knew it as we do and like us they would have had it no other way. It is and will be hard but we will learn how to channel this in to energy that will wreak havoc among those that are responsible together. And don't ever forget that you have other family around you here as well."

Valdor manages a weak smile at Dahlia and replies,"Thank you. I needed that. However, it isn't past. He has my daughter, you see. I was planning on letting Mordrid kill him, even if I got there first. But now, well, I swear I'll slice every limb from his vile body while he still lives, just to know his pain. He's not a dead man...he's got to live long enough to squeal for me now."

His eyes have an almost feral look, as if he's gone slightly insane.

Valdor, you do not know that he has your daughter, just that he stole her comb and a lock of her hair. It could have been any time but it is definitely meant as a threat at the least.

If Korrig is responsible for my foster father's capture and death, that makes a second score I have to settle with the Blacks and I will stand with you until I am dead or they are, I swear on the the only thing I know to pure and true and that is the love that Joe has for Claudia.

Many images begins to form in the water. They come in and out of focus. One moment a stone wall, next a strange tree and a pile of freshly dug soil. A door with a stylized metal knocker made to look like a grimacing goblin. Then a darkened hallway with a flickering green flamed torches along the wall. The sensor seems to stablize here. No more shifting of locations.

(Those observing this with ranks in spellcraft make Spellcraft checks.)

The sensor slowly starts moving down the hallway. The green light from the torches create erie dancing shadows against the rough stone walls and floor of the hallway. The hallway isnt very tidy. Thick layers of dust. Spiders and cobwebs can be seen hanging off the ceiling and walls. You're all somewhat startled by a zombie-type creature limping by as the sensor travels deeper through the corridor. It was dressed in rusted fullplate armor. Looked like a soldier. Bits of a tattered vestment still partially covers the breastplate. Its color and insignias are almost completely faded away. (Make Spot checks) The undead soldier seems completely oblivious to your spying eyes. There is an another, and another! Then two more! The sensor just keeps moving on past them. (make spot checks) After passing a small army of undead along the way, the view in the pool shows the hallway coming to an end at a set of two massive metal doors. Multiple bars stretch across it. A rather complicated-looking mechanism seems to keep the door securely locked. Much like a great vault. The sensor tries to penetrate the door but is held back by a mysterious force. (spellcraft checks). Myrridan casts a spell through the sensor. His eyes squint as if staring into an intense light and he quickly looks away. "Yes, I detect a rather powerful Abjuration protecting the doors. Very intense aura! Corialote, you think you can attempt to dispel it while I concentrate to maintain the sensor?"

The rest of you look on. You dont know why or how you feel it, but you all know something dreadful, yet dear to you, is on the other side.

(Everyone feel free to make any skill check you wish to make. Anything that could possible help. I only ask that you explain why you're making the skill check. For example: "I make a Knowledge Nature check: 25, to identify the type of vermin climbing the wall.")
