Pointing The Direction (DM/Al) Wednesday November 30th, 2005 7:13:59 AM
There are various reactions to the newcomers.
Firn'gaer notes the tattoo on the back of the elderly man's hand, and draws the Vision of Noxnyx from it's place. Again the Children of Chaos stand out, brightly colored against the background of moving shapes and flashing tracers. And the elderly man shines with color as well.
Sly approaches the elderly man and holds up his hand in peace. He speaks to him in elfish, on the chance that he is the elf Prionel who's well-being he has been petitioning.
Instead of replying, the man approaches the desk at which Lord Malneth sits. He removes his hood to reveal that he is not an elf, rather, a human. The elderly human announces himself as Jasper Remos, a priest of Alemi. He claims that for unknown reasons, his god has sent him to this place. And he offers his services as a healer.
Jaeden, like Firn'gaer, spies the tattoo. He bares his own hand for a comparison, only to find that the tattoo on his hand is now not the stylized depiction of a fist that it was only yesterday, but a tongue held within a mouth.
Upstairs, Lady Silverhand curls up with the animals. They accept her into their fold. Luke lifts his head from his paws. "Lady smell good," he says.
"My Lord Malneth," Lorbius begins, "may I introduce Dulcet of the Coven of Weal," the silver-haired human woman dips in a respectful curtsy, "and her half-sister Schedar," the half-elven woman pays no attention to the introduction, continuing, rather to listen, as though to voices. "They are witches from The Windbourne Hills, Lord Malneth. I came upon them as I was leaving House Ursidae. Lady Schedar insisted that they accompany me as, she claimed, I would lead them to ones to whom she must deliver a message. How they knew my destination, I can not guess. On the way, we encountered this Jasper Remos. And again Schedar insisted that he accompany us. The reasons for this are unclear."
The woman introduced as Dulcet again curtseys. The cat on her pack appears to incline it's head in respect as well. "Your Lordship," the witch begins, her voice is soothing, but with a hint of bedrock that speaks of command, "My half sister and I are indeed witches of the Coven of Weal. We have legends of the Five who embody the spirit of our faith and our craft. To these Five Elder Crones we call for guidance. The ways and values of these Five we seek to emulate. They are our past and our future. To the lucky ones they come in dream."
"Your Lordship, we have traveled here because my half-sister has received a dream from ... "
Dulcet's voice is cut short by a keening wail from her half-elven half-sister. Again, her hand sweeps across the room to include all of the Children of Chaos, Jasper the priest of Alemi as well. "The Tongue of Wisdom has spoken to me. Her Chosen are far from her. Far and away. Beyond the hand of Justice. Beyond the magics of Mercy. And so they call to Schedar!" The witch's cackle is touched with silver. "For the Chosen, Schedar will point the way. To find your way home, oh Chosen of Chaos, you must find that which longs for you. It lies in the darkness."
And Schedar stretches out her hand yet a third time. The sleeve of her dark robe falls away as she points to the northeast. "There! You will find it there.
Lord Malneth turns his head, following the direction of the witches pointing finger.
"But ... in that direction lies nothing but the open waters of the lake."
Savin Wednesday November 30th, 2005 7:14:33 AM
Savin listens to the new people and is gracious up to a point. When he can get his hand on his arm he will gently disengage the Lord Lubruis and lead him away for a private conversation. He shows him the amulet and asks, "Please sir, this is most vexing. I need to know what you know about this artifact. What are its powers and side effects? I feel the need to try and wear it. It could be my own desires to try it or something else calling me. What is your opinion on the matter?
Jaeden Ohm Wednesday November 30th, 2005 7:14:57 AM
Jaeden takes note of Savin's side conversation but is unable to hear the details with all that is transpiring. Instead he decides to see what answers can found from the witches. He doesn't expect to get much that is intelligible from the cackling witch so he approaches the silver haired woman.
"My lady, if I might... We all," he indicates the children with a gesture, "have been subject to many dream visits by these 'crones' of yours. I admit that I don't know enough to place these visits in any sort of context."
While speaking to the witch Jaeden tries to catch the eye of the newcomer, Jasper. If he is able to make contact he motions the man nearer.
He continues to question the lady. "If I understand correctly your path correctly I'm guessing there is much you could tell me of these Crones. Would you be willing?"

Sly furns to The Lord, Why am I not suprise! Father Jasper turns out to be a new member of the Children of Chaos. We will be expecting one more soon!" Sly tell him with a force smile. "You see SIR! When the man did not understand Elvish, my native language, I then knew he was not the elf I was looking to talk to!."
Now with all playing around, Mai I talk to this Elf your holding in you Err! . . . Err! . . . Jail? You see SIR! it makes no differance to me. Soon I will be leaving with me People here, With either the knowledge of this elf, first hand or I will report my suspisions to the Elders in Sun City. The choice is yours!" All the time Sly is looking the lord in the eyes.
Peerimus Wednesday November 30th, 2005 9:59:27 AM
Peerimus shortly inclines his head in greeting to Loribus and the others and places a hand on Sly's shoulder and gives him a reassuring squeeze, but also in hopes of calming him slightly.
Quietly Peerimus offers to Sly "Lord Malneth will look into it Sly, raising his ire and your own will not help here. Perimon holds the Elder and Malneth will send to learn more."
Savin, the Bane is to Bind the beast of Chaos when we summon him. I advise against putting it on. My guess is that it is a tool of Law and upon the neck of the Beast, it will strip him of many powers and abilities. Like the inability to shift from a form, or perhaps focus your Ki or me to open myself to Mothers call and channel her power.
Talk of Crones, dreams, witches and another questor gain the druid's full attention. Peerimus is not sure how he feels about witches, other than they make him nervous and he involuntarily takes a step back. There is something wholly unsettling about the craft, something dark to his mind and soul. Perhaps that is yet another reason Mother and Father set him upon this path, after all the Crones were very powerful witches. Peerimus forces himself to return to the conversation. More names, Wisdom and Mercy and the tattoo is altered. Justice has been done then with the reclamation of the Bane. We are now to see to Mercy.
The druid follws the finger and hears both her and Malneth and is sure he does not like the implications. "Perhaps the great shadow we have seen in the lake recently is this darkness. The Shields mentioned great turtle ferries." Peerimus turns his attention to Loribus and Malneth. "Can either of you secure such transportaion for us in the cities current state?"
He also holds a staying hand to the new member as if to say all conversations in thier time.
Jasper d20+14=33 Wednesday November 30th, 2005 10:59:38 AM
Jasper sees Peerimus hand raised and waits quitely hoping to find out more information on what the gods have placed him here for, he waits for a few minites and the " asks I beg your pardon my lord but there are wounded and sick in your keep I wish to take my left for the moment and save some your your people is there some where that i can leave my stuff and maybe rest later, I also wonder is there a shrine or temple that to Alemi in your wonderus of a city I wish to speak to my god... If given his leave jasper will have someone show him the way to where he can leave his things and then to the wounded men, (heal 33) if there are any that are above his skills to heal with normal means and skills he will use all healing spell and if needed sack any or all spells to save the livesof the wounded, Jasper will heal all he can starting from the most sever to the minor cuts and bumps. When he is done with the people as best he can he will slip away to the temple/shrine if there is one if not he will head back to where they said he could leave his things.

Various Lines of Inquiry (DM/Al) Wednesday November 30th, 2005 10:00:13 PM
Lord Lorbius steps to a quiet corner of the study with Savin. "I am sorry, Savin," the Ursidae replies, "though understanding your interest, I have asked about the Bane of Tosden, there is little that I can tell you of powers or side effects that you do not already know. I can tell you that it has been in my family for over one hundred years. Since before the Ursidae came to Floating City. How it came into our possession, I do not know. But my grandfather vaguely recalls legends that say the Ursidae are guardians of the artifact. That is rather than possessors."
"Though," he adds, "if your desire is to wear it, perhaps a better question than it's powers or side effects might be the question of whether you can remove it once it is around your neck. Perhaps it is as Master Peerimus suggests. It strips powers from the wearer. From that, the question naturally arises, will the powers return after the wearing? To answer that question, a talk with Lord Tarleth may serve you better."
=====
"Willing to speak of the Five?" Dulcet answers Jaeden with a motherly smile. "Why of course. There is nothing sacred in what is known about them. Though few, I'm sorry to say find interest enough to ask. We sometimes pray to them for guidance. They embody five enlightened states. Watcher is the eye or the ear. Justice is a fist or iron hand. Wisdom is the speaking tongue. Mercy is the open palm or the wooden hand. And Sorrow is the dark empty void."
"But I could go on about them to a tiresome extent." The corners of the witch's eyes crinkle as she smiles. Schedar wanders to a nearby window and stares out into the morning light. "What is it that you would like to know?" Dulcet asks, keeping one eye on her half sister.
=====
Lord Malneth gestures to the lone remaining aide as Jasper, failing to catch Jaeden's signal, inquires about the wounded left by the swinging of the city.
"Tomar will guide you to the room on the third floor on which the others are staying," the Lord replies. "The Temple of Alemi is on Gold Level. However, it is in the northwest corner, and we are at the southeast. It is not a long trip. But I would feel more comfortable if you waited for a guard to accompany you."
=====
As Jasper leaves the aide, Tomar, Lord Malneth returns his attention to Sly and Peerimus.
"It is as Master Peerimus says, Bladesinger Foxx." The Noble's eyes hold nothing but honest truth. "We do not hold the elf, Prionel. It is Lord Perimon who holds him. He does not appear to be in the common jail on Barracks level. Nor is he in the courthouse jail here on Gold Level. I know two or three places where Perimon may have hidden him, and I will set an investigation into motion for you. If you have not left by the time information has returned, I will have you notified. Fair enough?" The large and grizzled red-headed Lord smiles.
"As for the Turtle Ferries, none are docked at the city at the moment. All water going craft were used to evacuate the city. Now that the movement back from the beach has begun, I can imagine that finding a turtle or a sizable boat could be difficult. You are a party of ... seven, with two large animals and a sizable dog as I understand. You will require at least two turtles, most likely three. Even a large boat may not hold you all. But I will see what can be had. There are some advantages to being a Lord. Though, understand that it may take a few days. In the meantime, you may consider preparing for such a voyage. The open water can be a formidable force in and of itself. Even more challenging still, if you should be forced into it's depths. I have not heard reports of a darkness in the water. But I know that there is very little but water to the northeast of Floating City. The thing you search for is either very far away, or it is somewhere under the waves. If you wish, we may be able to place a limited amount of funds at your disposal."
=====
Tomar leads Jasper back through the mansion. Wounded men and women lie on palettes on either side of the open halls. The two return to the entry hall, and then climb two flights of stairs to the third floor. They enter a pair of double doors and emerge into a large room, open to the light of the sky. In the corner a red-headed woman in a green dress lies sleeping with a large dog and a bear, while a horse stands nearby. (I've taken note of your desires for the day, Jasper. But, in order to keep the timing of events on the same plane, I've only taken you to the room to store your things. Yes, that is Selena sleeping with the animals.)
Savin Wednesday November 30th, 2005 10:32:07 PM
Savin sighs a heartfelt sigh. "I talked to him already. He really wasn't very enlightening. Do you know if he has been able to assume his other form? Still my skills aren't based on chaos. Well at least the skills I can control. Who knows about these tattoos. Hmmmm maybe it would free the curse. I doubt it but it is a pleasant thought."
Savin will pause for any answers that Lord Lubruis might give and then thank him for his time and wander to join the other newcomers.
"I am sorry but I only got parts of your conversations. Did you say you worship the Crones? Are these the same ladies that keep depositing us all over the Wold? Tall thin and not very attractive. Well if memory serves they were attractive once or twice."
Savin will move over to the possible newest member of the Children of Chaos. I see you also have the tattoos. Will you be joining us?"
Sly Thursday December 1st, 2005 7:24:34 AM
Sly feel the touch of Peerimus on his shoulder, sly calms down. "Thank You, Boss! my temper was rising." Sly will smile (something he has not done in a while) "Yes! My Lord, That is fair, I will wait for you message. If for some reason that I have to leave before your Message can reach me? A duty to the Children of Chaos! I will leave with then, taking no action on my own. Then I must be true to my Oat of A Blade-Singer, I will send a message to the Elder in the Elven Capitol, That an Old Elf is being held here and I could not Talk to him. This is not a treath, it is a promise I made to my Sister. Now I shall retreat to our Rooms and await for a word from you, Good Night My Lord." Sly bows his head in grasous honoring his title. To Peerimus he tell him "I will try to sleep up stairs, Wake me if any thing happens and you should need me."
Sly will take his leave, he will follow a servent to his room. once there Luke opens his eyes "Oh! It's You!" With out moving from his soft warm spot with Selena, he goes back to sleep.
Jaeden Ohm Thursday December 1st, 2005 7:33:32 PM
Jaeden continues his conversation with the silver haired witch.
"There is much I wish to know about the crones. For starters," he holds his tattooed hand up for the lady to see, "is this the symbol for Wisdom?"
"More importantly, can you tell about the Crones relationship to the forces of Law and Chaos. Also, do you know of any connection between the Crones and Ebryon the Fey King?"
Jasper Thursday December 1st, 2005 8:14:11 PM
Jasper notes the young red head but does not stop to chat, he drops his pack, opens it up and comes out with his healing supplies and the starts to the wounded men,

Comings And Goings (DM/Al) Thursday December 1st, 2005 10:03:43 PM
Lorbius grows very still. He remains quiet without answering. And when he raises his head, he looks first at the two witches, noting whether or not their attention is directed toward the conversation between himself and Savin. His next look is toward Lord Malneth. Here too, he seems concerned that the Head of House Stizein might have overheard them. When he speaks, his voice is soft and low, pitched to carry no further than Savin's ears.
"You speak of dangerous things, Savin," he replies. "Suffice to say, that we are now within the city. Do you understand? It is my great hope that you do."
======
Savin wanders to the place in which Jaeden is speaking with the two witches. Dulcet listens to both of their questions. She nods as Jaeden holds up the hand which bears the tattoo.
"Yes, the tongue is the symbol of Wisdom. Wisdom tastes the truth. It is said that she can taste the difference between a great lie and a small one. She knows the nature of both truth and lies. And she knows their direction."
"Witches can be both wise and fair," she replies to Savin. "And the Five appear in many forms to those of us who call them. We do not worship them as such. We worship the same gods worshiped by all. Domi, Alemi, Gargul. To the Five, we call for guidance. I do not know that they have a particular attraction to either Law or Chaos. Though, they have answered our call, and many feel close to them, we, in truth, know very little about them. There is more written, for instance, of the legends of Ebyron the King of Fey than about the Five. In all of the collected lore, I do not believe that they have been seen outside of dream. And, unlike Ebyron, Gargul, Alemi and such, who have been said to have had dealings with each other, the Five have never been known to have had dealings with any."
"I have never thought of them in such a way before." Dulcet smiles. "A very interesting thought."
"If you have been touched by the Five, you are very fortunate," she says to Savin. But Savin has already turned in search of the new priest of Alemi. Jasper, unfortunately, has already left the room.
======
"I understand the depth of your devotion," Lord Malneth says to Sly in his rumbling voice. "And I will try to expedite matters such that you may at least be informed of Prionel's condition before you are forced to depart."
The Lord of House Stizein turns to Peerimus as Sly departs for the room upstairs.
"In addition to funding, you are free to use the compound of House Stizein for a base from which to plan. There is a great deal of open water in the direction you must go. And, unless you have special means by which to find what you are looking for, it may take a long time to find it. I will speak with my House treasurer to determine how much we will be able to spare. Our gratitude may be boundless, but with the destruction caused by the attack of the Crying Woods, our resources must be directed toward rebuilding. We will give as much as we are able."
"Is there anything else that you may need at this time, Master Peerimus?"
=====
Sly leaves the study and heads back through the mansion toward the entry way. On the way up the stairs, he sees the new human. Jasper, the priest of Alemi. The man is headed down the stairs toward the many wounded below. As Sly reaches the third floor, and enters the large open room, he sees Lady Silverhand curled up with Luke and Yorrick with Dalek standing nearby. Luke wakes briefly and speaks to Sly. It's still early morning, but Luke goes back to sleep. Such is a dog's life.
No sooner does Selena settle back, than another person enters the room. This time it is Sly Foxx, the Bladesinger who had died in the dream. Luke speaks to him. There seems a bond between the two.
=====
As Jasper descends the stairs, he passes the half-elven Bladesinger that he had seen in the Manor Lord's study. Sly Foxx was the name he heard. The Bladesinger is headed up the stairs, possibly to the very same room in which Jaspers possessions are stored.
In the entry hall, Jasper begins an examination of the wounded men. They have all been expertly bandaged. In fact, there is something of the hand of Alemi about the style of bandaging. The Manor Lord had mentioned a Temple of Alemi in the area.
Savin Thursday December 1st, 2005 10:31:59 PM
Savin eyes go wide as he realizes what he was talking about and where he is. He looks stricken as he says, "My pardon my Lord. You are correct. Please forgive my thoughtlessness."
Savin stops and thinks for a minute. He then calls out to gather everyone's attention. "Excuse me! I am going to perform an experiment." He holds up the Bane of Seribone and continues. "I am going to try this on? If I start acting stupid, insane or evil. Please remove it."
Savin then shuts his eyes, winces and places the artifact over his head and around his neck.
Sly and Luke Friday December 2nd, 2005 6:17:29 AM
Sly goes to his corner of the room, takes out his magic spell book and reads for a while. When Sly start's to feel sleepy, he roll out his sleeping bag (of Comphert), leaving the flap lose for Luke to enter the bag.
He Fall asleep "ZZZzzz!"
Firn'gaer Friday December 2nd, 2005 8:37:30 AM
OOC: sorry for the lack of posting
Firn'gaer finds himself with the witches listening about the Five Crones. "Does your knowledge of the Crones also extend to the Destroyer as well?" Firn'gaer says. "In our contacts with the Five, that has been our task. With so little information about either, I wonder if you have more you could tell us?"
Peerimus and Yorrick Friday December 2nd, 2005 12:35:27 PM
Peerimus has been listening so intently it suddenly seemed to dawn on the man that he had not said anything for some time. AS if breaking from a trance at Savin's declaration of intent, Peerimus blinks several times and turns his attention to the lord of the house.
"You're offer is most generous, especially in these times of your city. We are grateful and in your debt." Peerimus nods again and then continues, "I believe we will be in need of your resources and influence to aquire surface passage to the northeast and, "Glancing at Firngaer, "We have a maeans to keep us on course. Our past experience though, tells me I must make you aware we may not be able to return the crafts."
Peerimus cautions Savin again, but the monk is obviously intent on putting the dangerous artifact on, so the druid merely stansd by and watches, a small prayer to Mother on his lips.
If all goes well Peerimus will retire for a while asking that everyone join him. On his way tot he room he will atttempt to track down the Alemi Cleric and bring him along. The journey across the lake and possibly to its bottom is going to require some fore thought and everyone should be there.
Selena settles in and Yorrick cracks an eye and gives her a sniff before returning to slumber. When Sly enters and Luke wakes up, the great bear pays little attention, instead relishing these quiet moments too long in the making.
Jaeden Ohm Friday December 2nd, 2005 9:34:09 PM
Jaeden listens intently to the witches answer regarding the destroyer. Once done, the warrior asks another question of his own. "When seeking the guidance of these Crones, is there some method or practice through which you establishe your connection? Are you able to directly communicate with them or is it something more subtle?"
When Savin makes his announcement regarding the Bane Jaeden looks over, startled and in shock.
"What!?! You've got to be kidding..." he mumbles.
looks like it's not only in combat that these guys like to charge ahead blindly... looks like this tattooe is basically a death sentence. He thinks to himself.

Upstairs, Sly reads a bit before falling asleep. Though, perhaps not really asleep, Lady Silverhand does nothing to make anyone who might be watching believe otherwise.
Down in the entryway, Jasper continues to tend to the sick. So far, he has not used any of the magic granted to him by Alemi's grace. All of the injured have been well cared for. But many would heal still faster with the touch of magic. As Jasper wends his way from one palette to another, he counts 14 men and women with the physique of people accustomed to combat, most likely guards or fighting men and women. 22 of them appear less attuned to the physical side of their bodies. Clerks? Cooks? Of other occupations. And, in a back room, six children lie on beds. (Jasper, please post a spell list for the day.)
Guards: 3 Wounded, 8 Severely Wounded, 3 Near Death Civilians: 7 Wounded, 12 Severely Wounded, 3 Near Death Children: 1 Wounded, 3 Severely Wounded, 2 Near Death
(Tell me if you want to use any magic on any of these.)
=====
Dulcet gives a puzzled frown when Firn'gaer mentions the Destroyer.
"I'm sorry. I've not heard of such a thing as The Destroyer. I do not envy you your task if it is to find such a thing. Truth be told, we ourselves have little true knowledge of the Five. Most of what passes for lore these days, I would, in my own personal estimation," she winces at the admission, "superstition and quackery."
"There are many witches outside the Covens. And many follow their own strange ways. I've even heard of some who seek audience with the Five by sealing themselves in smoke filled huts." Dulcet's laughter is like the sound of chimes in the wind. "But The Five have come to so many of us that their existence is undeniable. And, perhaps that is the way of things," she says to Jaeden, "they seem to come to us far more often than they come at our behest. But, then isn't that the way of all beings that are worshiped or revered?" She places gentle hands upon the shoulders of her half-sister. "I am near certain that Schedar did not seek them out. And yet they have used her as a vessel by which to point your way."
"The Circle Knows the Way," Schedar mutters. The witch, though young of face, is bent of back. She places a finger against Jaeden's chest. "He knows you," she says. "He knows you already. Far and away. Far. Far. Far and away."
Then, in the presence of the witches, in the presence of the Lord Lorbius, and in the presence of their host, Lord Malneth, Savin experiments with the Artifact. Whether in the dream, or through some power of its own, the leather cord of the Amulet of Seribone is once more whole. And before anyone can stop him, he settles it around his own neck.
Nothing happens.
Savin inspects his body. His feelings. His thoughts. Everything is as before. Absolutely nothing has changed.
Peerimus excuses the group and retires. On the way back to the third floor, Peerimus, Savin, Jaeden, and Firn'gaer find Jasper tending to the wounded in the entry way.
Firn'gaer d20+7=21 Sunday December 4th, 2005 8:42:43 AM
"I'll see what I can muster." He says to Peerimus regarding arranging travel in Firn'gaer's homeland.
He listens to the witches of their relationship with the Crones. "No it would be impossible to deny their existance with our experience with them. I do have one more question if I may." He says to Dulcet. "I know you know little of the Crones or the Destroyer, but what of legends about Eternal Champions? I'm curious of past exploits that may give us even a small bit of additional information or incite into our quest."
"Savin next time you get crazy ideas in your head like that again look to me and remember the Knot of Druis. It doesn't work on you because you do not have multiple forms. I suspect that the Destroyer will be very similar to Lord Ebryon with regard to his shapeshifting nature. The Amulet of Seribone will stop that. I suspect it can't do much more than that. With some down time, I'll do a proper Identify to determine any other properties."
On passing Jasper, Firn'gaer takes time to stop and speak to the aged cleric. "Father Jasper?" He begins. "I must appologize for the rude introductions when we first met. When you have time, please see me. I'll explain what that symbol signifies and fill you in on the path that destiny, and the Crones have set you on.
Later, Firn'gaer takes out the Vision and begins to look into its mirrored surface. "Show me our next location. I know it's northeast." He focuses his concentration on the kingdom of New Ehlenna and tries to see a Chaos hotspot. Maybe, he thinks, he can get some general idea of how far their next destination is.

Sly Foxx and Luke Sunday December 4th, 2005 9:28:16 AM
Sly is unable to sleep, he tosses and turns unable to get the image of the old elf out of his mind. "I must do some thing or I'm don't deserve to be a blade-singer." he tells himself. Then he gets a small idea, "My sister's unicorn? I wonder if I should call her, woulds she come to me? and bring the note to the Elders in the Capitol? It's worth a try!"
So Sly taked out paper (the kind to write spells on), ink pot and quill. Sly write's a long note to the Elders, Telling of this Elf that is being held in this city, About who's holding th old elf. Pleades with the Elders for their help. and the Mission that he has to go to next. then he sign the note Sly Foxx. Closes the note and seals it.
"At the first moment I have free, I will call Ruby's Unicorn. If the flying horse does not answer! Then I will take to the Elven Highway to the capitol." He tell himself.

Jaeden Ohm Monday December 5th, 2005 2:24:40 PM
Jaeden returns to their room feeling a bit dissapointed. He had thought this would be his chance to get his bearings, but this was not be so.
The warrior has some plans for the day but for now he sticks with the group to hear what Peerimus wants to talk about.
***** OOC ***** OOC *****
IF he has the chance to get away sometime Jaeden will ask Malneth if he can supply him with the following:
* Large sack (waterproof if possible)(large enough for his armor) * Rope 20' (silk if possible/lighter is better) * Empty Barrel, sealed with tar and painted a bright color. (floatation device)
IF he has more time after that he will take Dalek out to stretch his legs a bit. If we're going to be here multiple days Jaeden will do this each day.
Savin Monday December 5th, 2005 2:58:08 PM
Savin will experiment for a few minutes, throwing punches into the air, a couple of spinning kicks and finally sigh, "Well that was sort of anticlimatic. He will take the artifact off and stow it in his haversack.
He will then head over to Lord Malneth and bow, "My Lord, you offered help a few minutes ago. This group isn't very practical sometimes but it seems to me that if we need to cross a large body of water, we will need access to a boat or small ship. Since none of us really has the skills to sail a ship, we would also need sailors and a reliable captain. If your help could also include these things, I think we would be better served than just asking for money. Throw in some healing magic and provisions and I would be deeply grateful. I am sure with your many contacts you would have a much easier time accomplishing those tasks than we as strangers would."

Peerimus Monday December 5th, 2005 4:52:32 PM
Peerimus gives a small chuckle at Savin and smiling all the while, "I hope it does not offend you that I was praying quite hard for the anticlimatic event that just took place brother."
Peerimus gets the group together in the small section of rooms they have been given. "Well, we now know why the Bell has not rung. Our next goal is within striking distance of this place, for good or ill. To recap, Lord Malneth will be looking into getting us 2 or more of these turtles and or vessels that we could use to head to the northeast. He also knows we do not know how to operate them, nor may we be able to bring them back."
"The wiches proclamtion of a great darkness and the vast shape we saw from the dock area and in th water have me believing we are going to need to descend into the depths of this lake. For me, but I have no intention of journeying alone. Lord Malneth will also, hopefully, be fairly successful in raising some monies we might use to access the catacombs. Pearls of the Sirens would be ideal, though he surely will not be able to raise such funds for all of us if at all, as well as Helms."
Catching that everyone is keeping up with him, Peerimus continues, "So we need bare minimum plans, this in the form of potions and scrolls with pure environmental survival in mind. To this end I believe Firngaer will be our best chance. A water breathing spell from him can be placed on all and will last a considerable amount of time, though he may need to cast more than one. Even with this, everyone incapable of breathing water should by a potion or two for emergencies."
"Yet another point that needs made is I do not think Luke, Dalnek or Yorrick should accompany us if indeed we all believe that under the waves is where we are headed. Since we don't want to inindate Malneth with requests, we should see what he can provide and compose a singular list if we are not able to aquire all we believe we need."
Savin illegal post Monday December 5th, 2005 6:29:08 PM
Savin listens to Peerimus and smiles, "I don't know if I agree with leaving some of our friends behind? Especially Yorrick! He is our friend and has saved our bacon on several different occassions. I am sure he would be able to function underwater as well as the rest of us. Besides we really aren't sure if we are going under the water. Could be an island out there or a ship. Maybe even another Floating City.
It is my understanding that this city hasn't been here all that long. Only a couple of years. Maybe they haven't explored the entire lake yet. Doesn't make sense to include our all our friends in our water breathing magical plans?"
Sly and Luke Monday December 5th, 2005 8:55:44 PM
Sly is about to doze off when Selena, He smiles and sits up, "Well, I came up here because I had wanted to talk to that Elf that was being held prosoner some where That good LORD! is keeping. After all the stories i have eard tonight. I'm sure of that that lord wikk never let me talk to that old elf. There is a witch that came along to tell all the Children of Chaos, that the five whitches want us to go north east, so they sent her to tell usthe good news... Oh! By the way there is a new member of our little party, His name is Farther Jasper,he seen to be a healer. He does have the Tattoo on his arm. Yours is on your ankle? I belive? and mine is in the palm of my hand. I wonder if Luke has a tattoo some where on his body??"
Sly looks around and listens to see if the party is coming up stairs, "The rest of our party will be up soon, then we'll know more!"

Three Days (DM/Al) Monday December 5th, 2005 9:48:12 PM
Dulcet tips her head to the side and gives it a small shake. "I am so sorry. I wish I could help you. We have groups. Adventurers such as you. But none of them called the Eternal Champions. I sympathize with your frustration," she adds. "I've often found the lore surrounding the Five to be confusing and vague. As though they come from the other side of the Wold."
"If a Turtle Ferry is available," Lord Malneth says to Savin, "it may indeed be better to provide a Handler. Less so because the turtles are difficult animals, than the Handlers are quite jealous of their mounts."
The orange haired Lord nods at Jaeden's requests. "Waterproof bags can be had. A wise precaution for any journey out onto the water. Rope and empty barrels are similarly available. As to other provisions, we shall see what can be spared." He settles into his desk and writes the three items down on a piece of paper just as one of his two aides returns.
=====
Jasper barely has time to acknowledge the gnome's welcome. The same gnome he saw in the study belonging to the Lord of this manor. The cleric of Alemi moves among the wounded performing miracles of healing. Terrible wounds of the head, shattered limbs, internal bleeding, all draw themselves into patterns of health.
As Jasper finishes his ministrations, a white robed priestess enters through the tall entry doors. Her eyes are wide as she looks about the hall.
"You!" her eyes alight upon Jasper. "You have done this. This is your work." She strides across the marble tiled floor toward Jasper. Her staff is clutched in one hand. As she reaches old Jasper, priest of Alemi, she throws her arms about him. "Bless you. Alemi bless you for the healing work you have performed here today. My name is Fiona of the Floating City Temple of Alemi. We have been so busy since the attack of the Crying Woods. And we lost many of our own number when the city was released and shook like the Wold in a bottle."
"You are a follower of Alemi, are you not? I must speak to Lord Malneth on behalf of the temple. But later, please, visit us. The Temple of Alemi is across Gold Level. It is called the Shrine of the Chosen. And it is off King's Way." Then the woman passes on.
=====
Sly Foxx wakes with an idea. He fetches pen and parchment and writes a note. Perhaps if he himself cannot fulfill his obligation to save the elf named Prionel, then he can discharge his duty by informing others. Yes. That just might work. Somewhat satisfied, the half-elven Bladesinger returns to sleep.
=====
Also upstairs, Selena sits up from her faux nap. It seems the others are coming back from their audience with the Lord of the Manor. She shakes Sly who lies next to her trying to sleep. While scratching Luke behind the ears, she implores Sly to explain what this is all about. She, Jasper, the priest of Alemi, and Jaeden Ohm may have to be told more about the fate of the universe, and the destiny that binds the group. But ... what truly does the group know now anyway?
=====
With everyone congregated up in the large roofless room, Peerimus and Savin discuss different views on preparation for the journey and debate the nature of what they might encounter.
As they speak, Firn'gaer takes out the Vision of Noxnyx. Pointing it to the northeast, he wills the view to expand outward. Passing the intense colors that are his comrades, he expands further. As the view expands in a cone shape, it encompasses more and more area. The detail becomes finer and finer. So too, as the view expands, it's progress outwards becomes slower and slower, taking in more and more area. Out past the grounds of the Compound, out past the City wall. Out into the expanse of the lake. The view now crawls slowly, expanding only inches by fractions of inches. So much space to see. So much space to try and pick out the signal.
The wizard wills the view to speed up, and suddenly the view flashes outward, covering leagues at a bound. Things fly by, indistinguishable. Unidentifiable. To spot anything at all in the vastness of the view, and at the current speeds of progress, one would need very sharp eyes indeed. (Spot vs DC35 to see Highlight to display spoiler: {A blip of intense color flash by. At these speeds, and with no landmark to provide perspective, there is no telling how far out it may be.})
=====
A knock comes on the door again. This time it is Lady Celine.
"Thank you for what you have done for our Houses," she begins. "For me, and my brother. And for me and Lorbius. My father has sent me to appraise you of the situation. With the return of people from the shore, we will not be able to secure craft for you for three days. By that time, though, the logistics agents believe that enough people should have returned to free up enough Turtle Ferries to bear you and your animals out onto the water."
"Father has also been able to free up 10000 gold from the coffers of House Stizein for your use. I know that it is not much. Especially after all that you have done for us. And so I have persuaded Lorbius and Tarleth to add in moneys from their own personal accounts. I have contributed as well, bringing the total funds available to you to 39650 in gold. I hope that it will be of use to you. There is not much in the way of commerce in Floating City yet. But the local branch of a store called The Catacombs has reopened their doors. You may be able to purchase the things that you need at that place."
"While you wait, you may remain here in House Stizein. The use of this room is yours."
"And, my father says to inform Sly Foxx that agents have been sent to three locations to search for signs of your friend, the elf Prionel. They are combing the shore, they search again the Barracks Level detention facilities, and they investigate the personal residences of Lord Perimon here on Gold Level. If Prionel is found before you depart on your journey, you will be informed."
"My father sends apologies for the three days that you must wait. But at this time, the safety of the people is uppermost on his mind, and they must be brought back. It is his most sincere wish that this does not inconvenience you too greatly."
=== OOC ===
(BTW, Jon, no problem. First priority is to take care of your yet to be born baby. If you could say a few words for Selena when Kristel can't, I'd appreciate it.)
Oh, and also, Firn'gaer, BTW, New Elenna is actually Southwest-ish from here. The map on the site showing Floating City is out of date. I was surprised too.
Firn'gaer Tuesday December 6th, 2005 8:40:10 AM
"No, thank you, Dulcet, for the conversation and your patience in answering our questions." He says to the witch.
Staring into the mirror, Firn'gaer sees nothing. He was aware that it was a longshot. [Can't hit DC35 with Spot check] After a while he gives up his search.
During the hours they have during the three days, Firn'gaer takes inventory of his equipment and makes an useful discovery. "I have a Swan Boat." He says to the others, but in particular to Peerimus and Savin. "It should carry everyone where we need to go, including our four-legged friends. It doesn't go underwater, though." He says. "Are you sure we're going underwater. It doesn't seem likely that two pieces would be in such close proximity to one another. In any rate, it will get all of us to shore."
The wizard takes advantage of the three days of down time to scribe three spells into his spellbook (mass enlarge, resist energy and invisibility).
Savin Tuesday December 6th, 2005 4:03:05 PM
Savin thanks both his host and the Lady Celine. Thank you for the funds. Though I would like to say that they are not needed, I am sure we can find profitable uses for them.
Savin will turn to the group once they are all gathered and ask, "Do we want to divide this share of money evenly or use some of it for things we think we might encounter in the next few weeks. Sounds like gettting some scrolls, potions or even a wand of water breathing could be useful. I need to get some more healing potions as well. Any suggestions?
Savin will take the 3 days to restock his healing kits, spices and cooking supplies and make a catacombs run.
Peerimus Tuesday December 6th, 2005 4:54:57 PM
Peerimus takes a seat in the room and tries to get comfortable, "Yes I know Savin they are. But while Luke can decide for himself, I must think for Yorrick. He would follow if I asked I am sure. I am just not sure I should ask. Despite everything he is still a bear." Peerimus lets an almost exasperated exhale blow from his mouth. "I just don't know, but on the topic of under the lake Firngaer, yes I beleive that is exactly where we will be going. There is almost nothing as dark as a lake floor so far beyond the sun and I feel this is deep. Tomorrow morning I plan to commune with Mother, perhaps something will come of it."
Peerimus gives a small smile and chuckle, "I would not say an object lying at the bottom of this vast stretch of water to be close. If you do not have one in your books already I would say we take the monies Firngaer needs to purchase the spell and scribe water breathing into his grimoire. Then split the remainder evenly."
"That should be 375 for the scroll and another 300 for the 3 pages of a spellbook leaving 38,975 among the six of us or 6495gp and 83sp. I personally would suggest a potion of water breathing."
Jaeden Ohm Tuesday December 6th, 2005 6:24:48 PM
"I agree Peerimus." Jaeden says to the druid. "Unless anyone has need of me I'm going to go walk about the city a bit. See if any ideas come to mind. I'll be back in a few hours."
With that Jaeden leads Dalek out onto the gold level.

I don't like to go to the Catacumbs, Just take it out of my share." Sly seals the letter, telling Peerimus, "In a few days I may have to leave all of you for about a half hour or so! Unless some one wants to come with me?" He tell Peerimus loud enough for every body to hear him.

Day One (DM/Al) Tuesday December 6th, 2005 9:45:56 PM
Celine withdraws to leave the group to fill the next three days. The mid-morning sun shines down through the rent in the roof, marking the time of day, as well as shedding it's welcoming light throughout the room.
Firn'gaer spends the day with one of the scrolls previously purchased from the Catacombs. He studies each word. He studies the relation of each word to each other word. And he studies the whole in context. His understanding of the spell must be perfect in preparation to scribe it into his book. (Firn'gaer, please choose a spell to add to your book. Then roll Spellcraft against the DC of the spell: 15 + Spell Level.)
Savin scouts out the kitchen of the manor. The cooks are busy preparing food for all those staying at the manor. With the wounded, there are many more to prepare food for. There has been no time to sort the mess that has become of the spice racks in the pantry. The cook watch Savin with guarded eyes as he pokes about in Their kitchen. The remnants of smashed containers stand arrayed upon a shelf in the pantry. One is clearly salt. Another is pepper. The others are mixes of various spices. Some are mixed with dust and dirt as well. Nearby, are strainers of various fineness. (Savin, you may sift and sort one spice per hours. Roll Profession Cook vs DC15 to identify what it is: Your choice. Even if you cannot identify it, you may still find it pleasing and add it to your collection.)
Peerimus takes the planning of the journey upon himself. He announces that on the morrow he will Commune with Nature to see what she will reveal to him.
Jaeden Ohm walks Dalek down the three flights of stairs. He draws stares from everyone he passes. It isn't everyday that a horse wanders through the halls of the manor. On the way out, he sees Dulcet and Schedar, leaving the building, their message delivered. Schedar, apparently, sees him as well.
"I know you. I know you. I saw you in the dark," she chants. "These eyes they see. They saw you there as you passed on through the ring." She laughs, as though terribly pleased to know this little secret. Dulcet sighs heavily and smiles apologetically at Jaeden.
Sly Foxx informs all that he may have to leave for a while some time in the next few days. To accompany his cryptic statement is a mysterious letter that he holds in his hand.
The rest of the day is uneventful. The Children of Chaos debate the nature of the journey that they are about to make. Why are they sent to the northeast? What will they find there? For what should they prepare? And ... what was that large shadowy thing that they saw the other day under the water?
Firn'gaer announces that he has a swan boat. Those who know such things, are aware that it will last no more than one day. Surely that should be enough to cross to the far shore. And, perhaps, one day will be enough to find the thing that they seek.
Outside, Jaeden finds more activity on the streets than the day before. Guards stand outside of buildings. Runners move between the Houses. Crews of workers clear rubble and carry it to unknown destinations. The city is organizing, returning to life after the ordeal.
Jasper tends to the wounded. And Lady Silverhand, still lost within the cogs and wheels of this great quest spends time with the animals. Surely they will not be left behind.
The night is also uneventful. For the first time in a long while, the Children of Chaos have their dreams to themselves.
The next morning, a knock comes on the door again. It is a messenger with word for Sly Foxx.
"His Lordship understands the Bladesinger's concern," the messenger announces, "and has sent word to keep you informed of the search for the one who's cause you champion. He says, that he regrets to inform you that there was not a single trace to show that your elf was ever in the Gaol on Barracks level. That is confirmed."
"He also says not to give up hope. Agents are still searching places on the shore, and places here on Gold Level."
The morning of Day Two begins.
=== OOC ===
If you haven't twigged to it yet, I'm taking this one day at a time. If you have something that you wished to do on Day One, feel free to back post. If, that is, your actions will reasonably fit in the day.
Sly and Luke Wednesday December 7th, 2005 6:38:54 AM
Sly comb Luke fur, "Look how beautiful Your fur gleams, Your going to have all the females eyes on you. Now you can go and play with your friend Yurrick, until it is time to leave, Tomorow!"
Luke smiles (as much as a dog can smile)"I can go now? HEY! YURRICK! Wait for me!"
Sly is cleaning the hair brush as the messenger arrives, Sly stands to hear the what he has to say. Sly knods his head to the message, then answers the the man "Very Good! thank His Lordship for the effort he is putting in the efford, I don't blame him for his comserns, but I dought if you'll find this elf, Something is not right. I will wait one more day, then I will forfill my oath as a blade-singer. I thank you for keeping me in touch, I hope you have better news for me tomorow," Sly bows his head as he slips the letter into the folds of his armor.
Sly goes to Peerimus. "Friend Peerimus! If you don't need me right now, I'll go to help our new member to this party! and help him as much as I can."

Savin has a horrified look when he sees the state of disrepair on the spice rack. The young fighting man happily spends the day sorting spices, chatting with the cooks, dicing vegatables and marinating meats. He fails on only one of the spices, but simply asks the other cooks what it is. After spending 8 hours in the kitchen, Savin returns to his room to announce to his friends that dinner is on. A wonderful fish chowder, spicy fried prawns and freshly backed rolls,which are crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside.
When he sits down with the Children of Chaos, he will seem a little glum. He looks up and says, "Today was a good day and I made some new friends but these people have all suffered badly in the last week or so. Many have lost loved ones, homes, and lively hoods." He glances over at Sly and continues, "Your concerns for the village elder is good but their is a strong and justified feeling of resentment. I hope he doesn't become the focus of the surviviors wrath. Things could get ugly fast."
Savin takes 8 spices oregano bay leafs mint paprika red pepper tyme ginger and a dm surprise.
Didn't take regular salt and pepper on purpose since they are more common and should be able to get them at the market place.

[OOC: Spell scribed is Mass Enlarge Person. Spellcraft check is DC40.]
Smirking back at Peerimus, "Compared to the distance to Ice Veins, a league or two is pretty close." He says. "I'm glad you want to expand my spellbooks, but..." He pauses to accent his next statement, "Wizards don't like being underwater. You better pray as hard as you did for the anti-climatic ending to Savin's experiment that we don't run into that big dark shadow. Won't be much I can do."
Firn'gaer spends the next day working on the next scroll. He knows that he may not have much time and he wants them done before the Bell tolls and they're gone again. He decides to scribe Resist Energy, Spellcraft DC43.
During the evenings, he finds the others and being as he's been a hermit while working the last two days. The one thing he wants from the Catacombs is a large pouch of pipe weed. His supply has dwindled since leaving for the Ice Veins and he has a pouch in his Haversack just for his restock. He will make mention that evening to any of the others going to Catacombs to purchase him some.
He enjoys the evening with the others hoping to finially get the oppotunity to talk to the newest members Jaeden, Selena and Jasper
Peerimus Wednesday December 7th, 2005 5:43:48 PM
The druid gives another light hearted chuckle, "When you put it that way, it does seem close." After mulling it over for a bit, he gets up and informs everyone he is going to the catacombs. "I am going to get another swan Baot, a couple magical anchors and a scorll of Water Breathing for Firngaer to pen into his book.
He returns later that day, just before dinner. One which he is delighted to see Savin having had a hand in.
After dinner as the the sun begins to set, he finds a quiet place and casts Commune with Nature. Asking Mother and Father to show him the presence of any aberations, magical beasts and buildings, encompassing 11 miles in all directions
Day Two Going On Three (DM/Al) Wednesday December 7th, 2005 9:59:54 PM
Sly spends some time with Luke. Taking, perhaps a brief moment out from the duties of the Bladesinger. Sly's doubts are plain in his words as he receives the progress report on the search for Prionel. There his always the letter. He holds onto the small hope that that this brings as he helps Jasper tend to the wounded.
Savin spends the entire day in the pain-staking, back breaking process of sifting and cleaning the kitchen spices. The reward at the end of the day is a sumptuous repast. Over dinner, he expresses his doubts to Sly Foxx. The possibility of resentment against elves is very real. And Savin brings up the thought that Prionel's physical well-being may be in jeopardy.
As complex as the Mass Enlarge spell is said to be, Firn'gaer instantly grasps the essence of the spell. From then on, to copy it to his book is child's play. He begins on a less challenging spell designed to Resist Energy, and completes the task with equal skill. During a break in his studies, he speaks of a wizard's dislike of being underwater. The verbal components of his spells would be useless, as speech underwater is impossible without certain magic items or the ability to speak Aquan.
The whole group gathers for dinner. Lady Silverhand is, as she has been for the past few days, quiet. Jasper as well, perhaps from fatigue. The Temple of Alemi here on Gold Level proved to be small. Nothing like the splendor of the Temple of Light in Plateau City. Still, as humble as it might be, all of the Shrines to Alemi radiate a sense of well-being that cannot help but touch the cleric. And the head of the temple, a tall woman by the name of Healer Janus, had been courteous and welcoming.
Peerimus spends his day gathering supplies. After dinner, he settles into a comfortable position, and places his consciousness into the care of the Mother and the Father. The first thing that he is shown are Luke and Dalek. The next is the building that the group is currently in. Then the druid's consciousness is flooded by the thousands of buildings that crowd Floating City. Many are tumbled down and barely rate the name of 'building', and yet all of these, Peerimus sees. There is a blink dog on one of the levels below. Further out, all trace of things goes dark. In the lake there is nothing. Wait, a paladin rides above the water upon a griffon somewhere to the south. There are no aberrations. But, at the very edge of the spells awareness ... is a kraken. In the vast expanse of the lake it appears very small. But, steeped in the lore of the things of nature, Peerimus knows different. And the druid wonders what in the Wold a Kraken might be doing in a fresh water lake.
=====
Again, the night is comfortable and filled with no more than private dreams. Day three begins. The sun shines brightly through the rent in the roof.
It is Lord Tarleth who knocks at the door this time. He apologizes for being the bearer of bad news. The agents have returned from the shore. There has been no sign of the elf, Prionel. And it would be unlikely that the elf could be hidden so close to the Crying Woods without the Crying Woods itself knowing about it. It is unlikely that Prionel is being held on the shore either. There is one more place that Prionel may be. The agents of House Stizein have maintained a low profile as they have snooped, inquired, and spied at the various residences that Lord Perimon maintains on Gold Level. Perimon, despite his rashness and his unfortunate ideas, is still a powerful Lord. House Stizein cannot afford to confront him directly. They are still waiting for the reports from these undercover agents. There is still hope left.
Good news is that the people are returning in great numbers from the shore. Over half have made the short journey already. Three Turtle Ferries should be available tomorrow morning.
Lord Tarleth motions to some men behind him in the hall. They bring in ten large waterproof sacks, sewn from the stomach lining of some large animal. They also carry in five small casks, painted white, yellow, red, orange, and bright green. That, and a fifty-foot coil of rope. He asks if there might be any more questions, things that the group might wish to know before they leave on their over the water journey tomorrow. After answering all questions, he leaves the day to them to prepare.

Last Day to Prepare.
Savin Wednesday December 7th, 2005 10:21:24 PM
Savin will make sure that he gets to the Catacombs today to pick ups some supplies. Other than that, he will try to engage the newest members of the group, Jasper and Selena in conversation. Find out something about them, ask about their families, where they were born etc.
He queries the group, "Do we want to leave while this Pirionel thing is hanging over our heads. Why don't we just go to Lord Perimon's house, ask him to release him, if he doesn't, punch him in the nose and free this elf that Sly is so worried about. Then we can go turtle riding." Savin sometimes has a very simple view of the wold.
Sly and Luke Thursday December 8th, 2005 8:27:32 AM
Sly tases the food, and give a little bit of an sample to Luke. To Sly's suprise Luke like the food, asking for more. Now the half-elf will eat full potion, and Luke is right, it is very good. "Friend Savin! You have out done yourself?? Both Luke and I would like another plate full, Please?" Both Elf And Dog praises the food, "Muff! Theek! Goop!" said Sly, Luke replies with "Woof! What he said goes for me too?"
The door opens, the Lord Tarleth enters telling the party of the suplies and the bad news about the old elf, Sly bows to lord Tarleth "You have been most gracious, in supplies and serching for the Elder Elf. I have to leave with my Party tomorow morning. I will wait untill then to do what I have to do. Thank-you again Most Noble Lord! I will see to it that your house is not involved."
Sly move to Savin "Friend Savin! Not to worry about Elder Pirionel, I have a plan to let the Elders in the Elven Capitol, Know of this Old Elf Plite. The trouble will befall on the House of Lord Perimon. The Elders Do have their way of dealing with these Problems. I will be going with all of you tomorow, Not To Worry!" Sly tells Savin.

Peerimus Thursday December 8th, 2005 5:12:08 PM
The druids eyes pop open and he sucks the air into his lungs though his teeth. A Kraken? Here? "and likely right where we are to be headed" he finishes the thought out loud. Looking over to the slumbering Yorrick he ponders his decision. Ask Yorrick to accompany him to the very depths. It seemed an absurd thing to on both sides, of course Yorrick would and of course Peerimus should not ask him all at the same time. "Be bothered." he snorts as he stands. "The others are likely still in the dining hall or likely near by discussing and this is something we to discuss."
Peerimus gives Yorrick a pat and lets him lie as he heads off through the manor, looking to round everyone up as they finish dinner or drinks.
Peerimus finds them as Savin finishes his thought, "No Savin, I do not think that a wise course, deserving as Perinon may be." Peerimus pauses as Tarleth enters and the things are brought in. "Thank you, your generousity is appreciated Tarleth."
After the lord departs, Peerimus turns back to his companions and has a seat. "As you know I was communing with Father and Mother and have learned a rather disturbing bit of information. At the edge of my vision a saw a Kraken. A massive squid like creature possessed of incredible strength, intelligence and cunning. They speak our language and have been known to take slaves and cast weather controlling magic."
I have purchased a couple water breathing potions, an additional Swan boat and a pair of magical anchors. I would suggest we use teh cities transportation to get there and our own to get back. That is assuming the Bell does not ring and whisk us off when we are through."
Jaeden Thursday December 8th, 2005 6:39:26 PM
At some point in the day Jaeden too pays the catacombs a visit.
Come night he joins the others in their enjoyment of Savins splenderous meal. He nods his acceptance of Peerimus' plan.
*** ooc *** ooc ***

Firn'gaer d20+23=36 Thursday December 8th, 2005 9:06:22 PM
Firn'gaer also makes a trip to the Catacombs very early the next morning and is hoping to be back in time to scribe the Waterbreathing spell.
The rest of the third day is spent in seclusion scribing the next spell, Waterbreathing. He comes out very late only with enough time to grab some food and head to bed.
Guess I didn't get to speak to the Infants of Chaos. *chuckling at his own pun*
That was horrible...
What do you know. You've been crabby ever since we arrived.
Have not...I just don't like this place, never have.
Right...the garbage and the smells have nothing to do with it?
...
That's what I thought.
You don't like this place either...
True...but where we go next is a lot worse...
I know...underwater...you're not leaving me here are you!
I didn't think you wanted to be wet?
I don't, but I don't want to be left here more.
Alright, I won't leave you here. Maybe I'll get a better pouch sewn into my robe so you'll stay in.
Definitely a good idea...definitely...
...
The wizard smiles down at his tiny friend and companion before he goes down for the night.
Good night, Rufus.

Day of Departure ... And Breaking News (DM/Al) Thursday December 8th, 2005 9:35:29 PM
The Children of Chaos settle in on the third and last day, to a serious planning and provisioning of the coming sojourn over the waters. The news from Peerimus, that a kraken lurks in the waters is an eye-opener. Clearly something queer and unusual is happening.
Jasper requests a healer's kit of one of the guards in the House. That and two potions of curing. Later that evening, a package wrapped in waterproof gut is delivered. Apologies are made. There are no potions available outside of the Catacombs. But the healer's kit is his, complements of House Stizein.
Lady Silverhand and Luke become greater friends. The woman, at least seems quite fond of the wardog. Later, the quiet rogue wanders through the rubble outside the compound, searching for a violin, and perhaps some books. There are many books. Many are ripped to shreds. Even more are water damaged. Two, however, are in good condition. One is titled The Battle of Paladia, and the second Lost in the Desert: Under the Darksun. There is no violin. In fact there are no stores open at all outside of the Catacombs. The city is still shattered and in the process of rebuilding.
Firn'gaer returns with a scroll from the Catacombs and proceeds to study the spell in preparation to scribe it into his book.
=====
Another night of peace passes by. This time, it is Lady Celine who knocks early in the morning. She announces that the Turtle Ferries are ready. But before the group leaves, her father would request their presence in his study. He would like to personally bid the group fair winds and fortune. Lady Celine leads the way down the stairs. The wounded no longer occupy the entry hall. All of the sleeping palettes have been cleared away. The thud and buzz of carpentry can be heard throughout the mansion. People are back to work.
"Once again, I thank you for the service you have done the Houses of Floating City." Lord Malneth stands behind his great desk. Two aides stand, quiet and respectful at either side. "It is my hope that we, in return, have been of help to you in the quest that you have so clearly undertaken."
"I am sorry, however, that we could not help you find the elf, Prionel." Lord Malneth turns his grizzled visage on Sly. "Our agents have scouted all of the properties known to be owned by Lord Perimon, and they have found nothing. I am aware of the code of the Bladesinger. And I know the disappointment that this must be to you. Perhaps if you had more time. But the Turtles are ready. And I do not believe that we can hold them for you much ... "
There is a knock. But before Lord Malneth can acknowledge, the door opens and a man slips through.
"I found him," the man announces, breathlessly. He is one of the rogues from Trash Level. "Through a woman shacking up with one of Perimon's guards. The reason we missed him is because Perimon's men keep moving this elf around. I know which house he's in, though. I found him."
Lord Malneth leans forward, fists planted on his desk. The grin on his face is feral, a predator's joy of the hunt.
"Good work!" And then the Lord's face falls. "But we cannot afford to move openly against Lord Perimon. All energy must be devoted to the rebuilding of the city. We cannot risk a war between the Lords of Floating City. No one who has, or will be associated with any of the Noble Houses can be involved. We cannot mount a rescue effort at this time. We cannot."
He puts a finger to his lips in contemplation. And then he points at the Children of Chaos. "But you can. You are not known here. And you are leaving. From what we know, it may help our relations with the Crying Woods to free this elf. And it would certainly not hurt to put a sting in Lord Perimon's britches."
"We can hold the Turtle Ferries for the better part of a day, at least until evening. Will you do this? Will you rescue the elf?"
=== OOC ===
I'll need spells for the day from Firn'gaer, Jasper, Peerimus, and Sly.
Peerimus Friday December 9th, 2005 2:51:55 PM
Peerimus, nods as news of the elf's location is revealed and the that fact unless they went, no one would. "You are quite right and, of course, we shall. Just try and hold those ferries, we will also need him." Peerimus points to the rogue who revealed the information. Looking to his fellows, "It seems we are going to see to another task here first. This will likely require more stealth than force. Let us remember the guards who hold Perinon are not evil monsters, we should use non lethal force when able. I also will point out the terribly obvious, myself, Firngaer and Jasper should use as little in the way of magic as possible. If it is indeed a Kraken we are to face we may not be able to replenish our spells."
"Selena, you and Savin are going to be our stealth approach. Use a relay to get us information as we approach the area. One of you stays the other returns to report, so a plan can be organized if we are indeed need to assault the building in which Perinon is being kept."
Peerimus spell list. The druid will consult before selecting all of his spells. If any suggestions are out there, lets hear them. Notice I almost max out at 4 freedom mvmt spells. leaves alot of people flailing underwater.
Spell 0: Detect Magic x2, Mending, Purify Food and Drink, Read Magic, Light Leve 1: Calm Animals x2, Faerie Fire x2, Shillelagh x2, Speak with Animals Level 2: Barkskin x2, Hornet Nest, Bull Str x2, Level 3: CMW, Daylight x2, Greater Magic Fang, Dominate Animal Level 4: Freedom of Movement x3, CSW Level 5: Animal Growth, Freedom of Movement, CCW Level 6: Mass Bear's Endurance
Jaeden Friday December 9th, 2005 6:59:14 PM
Jaeden pays close attention to all that transpires. His thoughts are echoed out loud as Peerimus warms of using non-lethal force.
"I willing to help, but I'm wary this mission. There is no way for me to know if what we are doing is right. What am I going to if we are discovered and assaulted with lethal force?"
The warrior ponders his own words...
Sly and Luke Friday December 9th, 2005 7:36:24 PM
Sly listens to the Lord Malneth as he tell the group, that the Turtles Ferries are ready to leave. When a knock on the door and the news of Prionels where about. Sly's heart beats faster, as he listens to Peerimus plans to go get the Elf.
Sly put a hand on Peerimus shoulder, telling him "Leader Peerimus! Please think of the back lash that would befall Lord Malneth here. If it should be known that he befriended the Children of Chaos. This Lord Perimon is just as sly as any fox around here, just the fact that he is moving the Elder Prionel is what I'm thinking about. Lord Perimon want something from this Elf, that will make him either richer or stronger. There is another way to consider! (Sly takes out the Letter, opens it and add to the letter. Seals it again, putting it on the desk) Just before bording the Ferries, I was about to call apon my sister's unicorn, to take this letter to the Elven Capitol."
Sly pushes the letter to toward Lord Malden, "My Lord Melden, this is the letter I was to carry to the Elder in the Elven Capitol, by way of the Elven Highway. And yes there is an entrance to the highway on this Float, it is in the Crying Jungle, I saw it myself. It is old and has not been used much, but it is there. Now Sir, if Leader Peerimus want to go and get the Elf our selves, I'll go with them. If He (Peerimus) want to go to the spot that the witch told us to go, I will go with the Children of Chaos. And if we don't come back. Then I must ask you one more favor! Would you give this letter to any elf and tell him or her to take the Highway, the elf will know what you mean." Sly pushes the letter toward the Lord's hand.
Sly now turn to Peerimus and the others in the party,"The choice is yours to make!" Sly will wait for an answer.
Savin Friday December 9th, 2005 11:37:58 PM
Savin interlaces his fingers and cracks his knuckles loudly. He then rotates his neck and more popping sounds can be heard. "I agree we need to be careful in our use of force but we still need to keep ourselves and this elf Prionel safe. It really will come down to the mages. We who use force of arms can always pull our punches. How does a good mage here pull his fireballs and magic missiles. It might come to using them. Still I understand your concerns.
Selena, you should take point. I can move between you and the party more quickly and easily. Is this agreeable to you?"
Savin will look around and then at the guide, "Please take us to the house but let us know a few minutes before we arrive. We might want to cast spells and other preperations."
Firn'gaer Saturday December 10th, 2005 8:43:54 AM
"I would have been nice to know the location a little sooner, but no matter." He says thinking on his spell list. "I will conserve as much as possible."
Details From The Scout (DM/Al) Saturday December 10th, 2005 11:33:37 AM
Lord Malneth picks the sealed letter up from off the desk.
"We will deliver the letter if we are able, Master Foxx. Though I must warn you, the things that you speak of are ... things of myth to us. If necessary, we will search the Crying Woods for your Elven Highway. Lord Lorbius knows well the ways of the Crying Woods, and I'm sure that he would spare no expense to aide you."
"However, I do not think it wise to allow Jus Waxen to accompany you outside of this room. Your name is Jus Waxen, is it not?"
"Yes. Yes, Your Lordship," the rogue replies. Surprise at the fact that the Lord of the Manor should know his name after such short association is writ clear upon the rogue's face. "But, I can show you where the house is on a map. And I can tell you all that I seen from the outside. Then there's the little bits that Lissa, that's the girl what's shacking up with Perimon's guard, I can tell you what Lissa let drop about the place."
"Oh. And I think you oughta know something about this situation right off. They gots orders to kill him. Perimon's guards do. You see, looks like they're expecting some group called the Crimson Shields to come wanting him. And, rather than give him up or let him escape, they gots orders to kill him."
"The building's a two story In-Town-Home type affair." Lord Malneth points to a shelf, and one of his aides pulls down a map and unrolls it onto the desk. (Map) "Here's us here. And here's the Town home. It's off Shutter street here. Someone watching from the windows, both front and back of the place. Four guards outside too. Two out front and two in back. I didn't see no one on the roof, but that don't mean no one's there, if you get my meaning."
"And Lissa said something about two shifts of guards in the place. So maybe there's a group resting somewhere inside while the others are a watch." The rogue shakes his head. "Tough nut to crack, this one is. I had to stay pretty far off just to get this much on it. I'm sorry, Your Lordship, but I couldn't risk getting any closer."
"You did the right thing, Jus," Lord Malneth replies, then he turns his attention back to the Children of Chaos. "If you can rescue the elf, take him to the docks on Fence Level. I will have an agent waiting there who can point you to both your Turtles, and a boat by which Prionel may be taken back to the shore."
"Are there any further questions?"
=== OOC ===
More time to discuss strategy. Monday, I'll place you on the street near the Town Home.
Sly and Luke Sunday December 11th, 2005 9:03:45 AM
Sly smiles at his Lordship, telling him "I sorry But unless Lord Lorbius has elven blood, he'll never find the tree. Remember the Highway was build by Elves. But if he should take a Elf or a halv Elf, He should find the tree. The tree is a big, odd looking with almost tranparent leaves on the canopy. Then He should feel the bark all around the tree. When his hand disapears into the tree, He is at the entrance of the tree. In side the tree is darkness, but he'll feel himself rise to the top of the tree. Once there, He'll see a open arch-way. There he'll step on to a platform with no railing. Once there he'll be on top of the wold, he'll see thing that he thinks never exested, But no road! That where He'll have to take the leap of Faith! He'll Have to take my word that nothing is will happen to him, but to step out into space. He will not fall but his feet will hit the road. Once on the road he must tell the road where he want's to go, Thats when he'll see the rainbow colors road leading the way to the Elven Capitol."
At this point Sly goes into his pouch, taking out Niobe's Holy leaf Pin. Sly now slides the pin to his Lordship, "Because Lord Lorbius is not an elf, have him where this pin. If he meets Elves and he will. He will be chanledge by the elves, they will want to know as to what He is doing there. Have Lord Lorbius tell then that he has a letter from a blade-singer for the Counsel of Elders. Once he meet the Elders, He will be welcome! But the tales he come bach with, will be all true. Thank-you my gracious Lord. You have been very kind to me." Sly bows and return to his friends.
Luke replies, "Good Luck!"
Sly ask of Luke, "The Man has a title, Luke!"
Luke replies, "SIR!"
Savin Monday December 12th, 2005 7:55:54 AM
Savin turns to his spellusers and asks, "Is there anyway to scry for the elf? Getting his exact location will definitely help in formulated a battle plan.
I don't mind going in for a recon if you want. Selena can go as well but if I get into trouble, I can run away much faster. Can anyone cast invisibility on me?
We need to think about an exit strategy. Maybe create a diversion. Set a fire or maybe summon some animals to distract them? Any thoughts?"
Peerimus Monday December 12th, 2005 9:10:50 AM
Peerimus nods at Lord Malneth when he talks of the rogue not accompanying them, ther was no argueing the point, though it is pretty obvious Peerimus is disappointed with the desision. "Very Well then. Turning back to Malneth, "I will need someone to escort Yorrick to the docks where he might wait. This will not be for him"
Looking to Sly, "There s no need to send to the capitol, The Destroyer has waited eons building his power, he will surely be building it for another few hours. So lets make some plans and volley a couple ideas."
"Unfortunately rescuing an elf on Trash Level was not on my mind during my preparations this morning and I do not think Firngaer was thinking about it either. I do propose that i slip into the house as a cat and locate the room he is in. though I admit aside from freeing him myself I am at a lost on what to do from that point. If Selena and or Savin can become invisible that would definately help. I do not like the idea of setting a fire down there,I also do not like the idea of running into the Shields. This will be hard enough without thier," Peerimus pauses catching himself, "assistance."
"Any thoughts on how we might coordinate an inside and outside strike. Two of us slip in, locate Perinon while the outside group strikes the main door. In the cofusion and call to reinforce to repell the attack, the inside group slips out again with the elder?" Peerimus looks quizzically at his fellows on the idea.
Firn'gaer Monday December 12th, 2005 11:03:58 AM
"If they are expecting the Crimson Shields, then based on our understanding of that group, they will expect a frontal assault of the compound. I would say a multi-front assault. Several smaller groups coming from different directions. That will also keep their sentries from expecting anything with only a couple of people wandering from any one direction. As far as spells, I prepared a lot of Silenced spells; lots of Magic Missiles and Enfeeblement spells along with some Lightning Bolts. I could create the diversion at the front with some bolts at the front door while a smaller stealthier group sneaks in the back. As Peerimus said." He says. "Jaeden and Sly with me while Peerimus, Selena and Savin sneek in another way. Now when you find them, Savin should *step* to a predetermined location with the elf if possible. Then at that point everyone breaks and moves off taking different directions. I'll lay down Walls of Fire to cover our retreat.
Jaeden Monday December 12th, 2005 3:43:33 PM
"Sounds good Firngaer," Jaeden responds to the Gnomes fleshing out of Peerimus' plan.
With that the warrior finalizes his own preperations.
Sly and Luke Monday December 12th, 2005 4:14:03 PM
"Hmm! sound good to me, I do have Lightning Bolts as a spell and a few fire ball slso, But remember the lord here said To Kill The Elf, that means if He cannot have him no one else can have Him.!" Sly thinks a little bit more, "Does anybody have any amonia and some clean rags? That combination should quiet them While we go in!" Sly replies.
Luke ask Sly, "Can I go with Yurrick?"
Sly replies, "If you want to! you can go with your friend."
