Erwen flys from the battlement, circling to gain altitude. She then heads North, searching the ground before her. To all on the ground, she looks to be hunting rabbits.

After about half an hour, darkness becomes deeper and twilight fades. Erwen returns, and lands next to Airin. Erwen seems very excited, and speaks in screams and squaks to Airin. Casting her spell, Airin begins to speak with the same sounds.

Airin Highlight to display spoiler: {Erwen says: "Many creatures, foul creatures. The come from all directions. They cover the land. They carry large sticks. Many come. Flee with me."}

You see the glow of torches get brighter, and can begin to see creatures move beneath the torch light. Suddenly, you hear a scream as a sapling suddenly snaps upright. A creature is swept off its feet. Screams and cries come from the area as more trees snap upright.

Soon you see a mass of the creatures appear at the treeline, 500 yards from the keep. They appear to be goblins.

A terrible scream comes from the goblins. You can hear an answer as creatures make battle screams on all sides of the fortress.

Kendry asks Airin what Erwen tells her. "Well flown, good Erwen, well flown!"

The Bard Thing

As the torches first appear, Kendry says, "Friends, we are well outnumbered. Our foes are creatures of darkness, and they come in the darkness of night.

"But we hold the advantage. Those who come are twisted creatures, who no longer reflect the glory of the Creator - because their nature has been corrupted.

"Are we not creatures of light? In addition, we stand in a fortified structure, made of stone. We stand behind cover from incoming missiles. We stand higher than those who attack us. And we can stand together in unity, to a common purpose. Hard work and development of the talents granted us have made us into tough combatants. Each of us shall defeat a hundred. And together, we will defeat thousands.

"Their motives? Hatred of freedom. Hatred of truth. Minds that are bent to destroy what is good. A penchant for degradation, for depravity. And mutual fear and hatred.

"Our motives? Love for freedom. Love for truth. Love of humility, and nobility, and honor. And high regard for one another.

"Here we are - humans, halflings, dwarfs, and our animal friends, ready to stand side by side and back to back against our foes.

"Tonight, we shall stand. We shall stand, and fight, and sweat, and bleed. But, come the end of battle, we shall be victorious. For Oshirr House. For Alemi. For Domi. For the Wold, who is our Mother. For The Jericho. For one another. We shall stand. We SHALL stand. WE - SHALL - STAND!"

Battle Commands

Kendry waits for any answers from his friends and companions, and from any others in the Oshirr House.

Then, in a few moments, he calls out: "Those of us with bows, crossbows, slings and the like - begin firing when in range, at will.

"Save the better ammunition for when they are in closer. Let's see if we can't get warmed up, and, perhaps, dampen their enthusiasm a bit.

"Spellcasters, prepare and cast as wisdom guides you."

[OOC Note: Slings can go out to 500 feet, short bows to 600, composite short bows to 700, long bows a thousand, composite long bows 1100, light crossbow to 800, heavy crossbow to 1200. Can go up to 10 range increments out - each multiple greater than the standard range increment gives a -2 penalty. So, with a 100 range, firing at 500 feet would give a -8 attack penalty - the first 100 no penalty, and 4 times -2 for the next 400 feet.]

Kendry fires

Kendry's first arrow, launched at close to a 45° angle, flying out to the first goblins now just beyond the edge of the forest at 480 feet, flies true, hitting a goblin with AC 19 {1d20+15-12), for 8 points weapon damage, and 6 additional points of bane damage (total 14) versus fae creatures. "Howdy Do!" he yells as his first arrow strikes home.

Excited with this initial success, Kendry draws his second arrow. In his haste to follow up, though, he fails properly to nock the arrow. The string snaps forward, the arrow shaft jumps to the right, and the dry-fired string stings his forearm. "Ow!" [Nat 1 adjusts to -1 on attack (1d20+10-12), followed up with extra roll to see how badly the natural 1 was - rolled a 2, adjusted to 0.]

He takes a deep breath, and draws his next arrow. Breathe in, breathe out. Settle, aim...

He will wait until their foes draw within 500 feet of the catapults to call out coordinates.

Nezamil standing in the center tower looks out over the battlefield as the goblin horde appears and announces itself with a scream

"well looks like it's gonna be a busy night " growls the dwarf.

Nezamil hears the bard's voice as it wafts thru the night " Aye we shall stand strong together " shouts the dwarf back in the bard's direction.

pulling a piece of glowing moss from a pouch Nezamil prays " shed Domi's light into the night" and crumbles it over his heavy crossbow touching the bolt in its firing position(casting light spell on bolt) " well let's get a better look atcha " growls Nezamil as he carefully takes aim firing it at a spot 300 yards out in front of the center tower " gonna light their path so they can'r hide in the darkness " grumbles Nezamil

With a peek over to the right side " hey Bralin when they git closer i'll come down and cast a spell to make ya bigger " shouts the dwarf to his bethern

Bralin looks out over the ramparts at the approaching foe. He endures Kendry's speech without comment, but does raise his arm in acknowledgement of Nezamil's comment.

500 yards is a very long way (1500 ft). The dwarf waits.

Gilan had slipped off with Peerimus and was now sitting with his brother druid in the woods. His feral smile returns as lights dance in his eyes. "The first strike seems to be ours." Looking to his brother druid he asks a simple question. "Do we let them pass and then hit them in the rear as well?" He seems over eager to join in the fight at last as he rocks from foot to foot. He does take the time to cast a simple spell under his breathe as he holds a single rod in his hand. The smile widens as the spell takes effect.

Ciaran had remained behind in the temple as he had no way to follow his brother out. He now lays upon the ground of the courtyard out of the way and watching.

Note: Peerimus and Shayin are not at the wood line, they are only 400 feet from the north walls. The woods should be a further 800. Peerimus would have waited for Kendry's return before moving out.

Peerimus and Shaylin remian on their haunches, looking to Gilan and blink several times and Peerimus then starts to shake his head back and forth. Pointing a paw to the distant torches Peerimus nods and then opens wide his mouth as if to roar, but no sound comes forth. The leopard Peerimus then points to the Oshire House and makes an arcing motion over his head to end in the darkness towards the wood and repeats this a total of 5 times. Lastly he makes a mock lunge back towards the North wall and nods at Shaylin and repeats the lunge.

Shaylin has already returned her heightened vision to the north during all of this and crouches a bit lower in the grass. [Hide 16]

OOC: Looks like the druids are North of the spike growth. Peerimus and Shaylin have Airwalk active. How did Gilan move across the spike growth? Woodland stride does not work for unnatural spikes and thorns.

Vision, no daylight spell yet, that I know of. Dim light supplied by the stars and the full moon rising over the horizon and the distant torches held by goblins is the only light.

Airin translates what Erwen has to say to her friends: "Erwen says: "Many creatures, foul creatures. They come from all directions. They cover the land. They carry large sticks. Many come."

She does not mention the fact that the bird also urged Airin to flee with her. No need to get all stressed up about a couple of hundred creatures of the night!

Creatures of Darkness...

Airin stands and waits side by side to Kendry whenever he stands still for a chance. His speech was great and warmth, pride and braveness swell in Airin's heart.

"Tonight we stand" she says, repeating Kendry's words.

"Erwen," Airin says in bird tongue, "Do you understand the little coin here? Soon I will cast a spell on it and make it shine bright like daylight. You will be able to fly over the enemy with this illuminating ball and cause them to panic. You think you can handle that? ok? Sure? No remarks? Great!"

(ooc to DM Kelly : I'm kinda hoping Erwen will think of the fact that the light beneath her will cause her to be blinded as well ;-) I did not think of it, so I can't change my mind about that... if YOU are willing to make Erwen think of that than I can only be happy about that :-D - Thanks ;-) )

DM Kelly - Goblin attack round 1

Peerimus, Shaylin and Gilan move out to the North to await the goblin horde.

OOC: I have conflicting comments on your location, please clarify.

From the wall, the others can see that the goblins have initiated a plan for the attack. Through the flickering torch light, you see the goblins gather in a column 40 feet wide, stretching far back into the woods. The column is pointed right at the West side of the North wall (H,I,J,K on the grid). In the dim torch light, you see many ladders, each carried between two goblins.

A chant goes up from the goblins, and they start to move toward the fort at a slow jog (60 feet/round). They are now 1400 feet to the North, and they close steadily on the fortress.

You hear similar chants from the other compass directions, though they sound more like orcs and kobolds.

Airin casts her Daylight spell upon the coin that is attached to Erwen. She speaks to Airin in the language of eagles Highlight to display spoiler: {Yes, light is good. Shall I fly low and scare them with my talons? Where do you wish me to go? OOC: I need location and height info.}

The light from Erwen's coin cast the brightness of daylight along the wall, and dimly illuminates to a distance of 120 feet.

Gilan looks to Peerimus and nods his head as he is pretty sure they will return and not mount an offensive from here. He still feels that he will be able to get into the thick of things soon. With the rod still in his hand he casts yet another spell upon himself as he waits in the darkness.

The Leopard blinks again at Gilan and turns his full attention to the formation heading towards them. how far are they still, wait just a little more The bobbing torches mark the enemy well, but the druid is concerned that it seems to be merely a goblin charge. Where is the real attack coming from? They throw fodder at the walls. The druid is highly tempted to alter his plan and decimate the opposing force himself. No we shall trust in the others and hold to the catapults. Peerimus gets comfortable and slinks down lower into the grass with Shaylin.

Airin and Erwen

To Erwen Airin continues to speak in bird language, "See Peerimus and Shaylin out there? Fly North West from this wall about 300 ft from this point. Then keep on the west side of the enemy and try to herd them straight towards the spike growth... see, right there... see those spikes? Those will badly hurt the enemy. Try to huddle them together and into them spikes.

"Try not to illuminate the spikes though as it would ruin their effectiveness. Once the enemy is there you can illuminate it all as they will most likely panic from both the spikes and the light. This string is 15ft high. If you fly 25ft above the ground the coin will be 10ft from the ground. It will have a 60ft radius so you will illuminate a spot on the ground of roughly a radius of 59ft! So that's quite a lot of light dear!

"You understand the idea? If you can herd them all together and lead them into those spikes we may stand a chance! Then if you see they go too much to the East, fly east and send them back... you understand? Go my dear... good luck! You have a very important task to complete... we're counting on you. Go now proud Eagle! Rule the skies and bring chaos among those creatures of the night. Do not fly too low and avoid getting shot please! GOOD LUCK!!"

Then Airin sends Erwen high into the sky, the bright daylight ball dangling beneath the Eagle. If all goes well she flies at an altitude of 25ft, due North West towards column F. From that point she will fly due north hoping to send the enemy a little further towards the rows I to R where the spikes are...

Suddenly airin feels very vurnerable... did she just send her companion away on a suicide mission? "Good luck Erwen" Airin whispers.

Now, all Airin can do is wait to see how the enemy battleplans will unfold. Her crossbow and blade are of little use here. Let's wait for them... together we stand...

Erwen squawks in answer to Airin's instructions. Highlight to display spoiler: {Yes, I go scare them away. They do not harm you.}

Erwen takes off into the sky. When she looks down the brightness of the magic coin causes her to fly erratically. Luckily, the goblins are far away and she becomes accustomed to the bright light trailing beneath.

Meanwhile, 400 feet North of the wall Peerimus, Shaylin and Gilan await the goblins as they rush towards the fortress. Just to the West of their location the eagle flies, the bright light illuminating the ground beneath her. Long shadows are cast from the three as the sphere of light passes by, briefly illuminating them as they crouch in the short grass.

The eagle flies fast, yet by the time the Erwen has come upon the goblins they have moved 400 feet, and are now 1000 feet from the Oshirr House. The brightness of the light startles the goblins, but a large goblin near the front shouts out.

"It is a bird, kill it."

With that, five goblins nearest the eagle throw javelins into the air. Three of the javelins strike the bird. (7 HP damage)

OOC: Please post AC and HP for everyone, animals included. Will adjust damage to Erwen if her AC is above 15.

Also, if Gilan moved past the spike in a different form, I need to know what it was. If you ran upon the ground, we have spikes to deal with.

If anyone had actions between rounds 1 and 7, please post those.

How is everyone as far as posting over the next week?

Round 1 - Kendry uses the message spell to whisper to the student who oversees those manning the catapults. "It will be a few minutes before they arrive. Can you send up three students and have them grab the polearms designed to push ladders back? Just have them practice for a few moments." He realizes that such will soon be needed.
Round 2 - Cast Cat's Grace on Airin with wand. [+4 to dex, lasts 30 rounds]
Round 3 - Cast Cat's Grace on self [+4 to dex, lasts 30 rounds]
Round 4 - Show students pole arms, have them look at oncoming ladders, figure out how to work in concert, or individually.
Round 5 - "Yes, if you please, Tishe' - that is very kind," he answers her, willing to receive the fly spell.
Round 6 - Receive Fly spell [60 rounds]. Answer Nezamil's question. "The catapult range is 500 feet, Nezamil. Still a little time left."

Depending on the DM's courtesy, Airin will of course be very thankful for the mage armor spell Tische is willing to cast on Erwen. The bird will soon be in a lot of trouble...

Erwen's AC is 16 without Mage Armor - 20 with Mage Armor

Airin is shocked as she sees the Goblins throw Javelins at the small bird. Hopefully Erwen will understand flying a bit higher, or more to the West would be advisable. As long as they are hindered by the light Erwen's goal succeeds.

There's nothing else for Airin to do than to wait to see what happens.

Gilan cannot keep the smile off his face as he hunkers down lower to the ground. He is literally drooling as he thinks of what he could be doing about now. "This is hard." He whispers so lightly that he is not even sure he spoke.

He intones a few mores words and feels the effects of magic was over him. He smiles again as he feels even more ready for the fight to come.

Used the form of a barn owl to get to his current position with Peerimus and Shaylin. Being a druid himself, Gilan would not have tried to pass that spell without some type of aid or flight.

DM Kelly - Goblin attack - round 8

Erwen pierced by the javelins quickly realizes the danger she is in. She also is accustomed by instinct to determine the extent of the danger. The javelins had barely managed to reach her, she adjusts her flight and is soon flying about 50 feet over the head of the goblins. She screaches in anger and the horde heading toward her friend. The light illuminates the goblins beneath the eagle. It is clear that they are many, and that they carry ladders.

The druids and Shaylin sit and wait. When the light passed over them, they saw several goblins point and shout towards them.

The goblins are now about 950 feet away, slowed some by the eagle and the light. Still, they come.

Bralin watches out into the distance on the East side, yet does not see anything but the horde of goblins running in a column on the West.

OOC:Sorry, could not wait for more posts. Erwen is without the spells, though she is only wounded and has learned her lesson.

Noticing Erwen has understood the threat of the javelins, Airin is very proud of the Eagle. With great pride she continues to watch Erwen and hopes the bird will manage to avoid exposing the two druids out there... Airin fears Erwen might have been a bit careless after all...

OOC: Sure, we can slow this down. I really didn't need anyone elses post to finish with Erwen, so I did the last post without waiting. I will now wait for everyone to post. I will probably do a fast forward post next time, so that this speeds up. I think it will be based upon what the druids decide to do. So let me know, the goblins are running towards you.

Peerimus and Shaylin are 400 feet from the wall of Oshire House.

Goblins have spotted them, and that of course is just fine. Actually is was part of the plan. For now the two leopards simply remain where they are. Roughly 450' still seperate them from the oncoming forces, there is still waiting to be done. A part of the druid's mind wanders back to Bralin and the others on the wall. Would they be dissapointed if the horde never made it? The spell which lies a few hundred feet behind them is completely undetectable to the stupid creatures. The kobolds, from earlier, seemed of the normal lot. No more powerful than any other Kobold. If the goblins were relying on pure numbers to mount the walls, they would never get close. Peerimus lets a little Leopard giggle at the thought of Bralin and the others stomping about cursing that all the foes were taken out and they never got to swing at anything.

The Spike growth spells are cover Col I to R Row 6 and 7 which means they are 120' from Oshirr House across the entire north face.

Kendry calls up the catapult students to practice with the pole arms while the goblins are far from the fort. Tishe casts a protective spell on Kendry while Nezamil casts a spell on Bralin.

The goblins continue running, while Erwen slows thier movement some and causes some breaks in the ranks as some continue to throw javelins at the out of reach eagle.

The druids wait, and now the goblins are 150 feet from them, 550 feet from the fortress wall.

Erwen does her best to harrass the goblins, but she cannot tell who is in charge.

Round 10 - Flying "Kardon: Prepare one on H440, two on I440, two on J440. Wait for my mark. It'll be about half a minute or so."
Round 11 - Arrives at I120. Arrows ready.
Round 12 - Look left (Spot: 22), look right (Spot: 23).
Round 13 - Fires two arrows. Hit AC 17 (should have rolled d20+3, not straight d20) for d4+6=8 and fae bane 2d6(3+5)=8 (18 hp total), AC 12 for d4+6=7 and fae bane 2d6(5+4)=9 (16 hp total).

Peerimus remains where he is, the goblins need to be a little closer. A small growl escapes to Shylin form Peerimus, the leopards are preparing for something. Getting up from their haunches they wait for another few seconds. As the goblins close another 100 feet, the pair of leopards let loose with resounding roars and then turn to run towards the North wall. Thier feet just running on top of the ground.

Kendry flies out towards the goblins with bow in hand as the Goblins rush the fortress (rounds 9-15). Aiming high to get maximum range, he lets 5 arrows fly at the onrushing goblins. The arrows glance off the leather armor and shields of the goblins, none finding their mark (AC goblins = 19). Seeing that the goblins are closing in on the range of the catapults, Kendry flies back to the Oshirr House fortress to give commands.

Two leopards and an owl await the goblins, who seem intent upon their first kill. The goblin howl and snarl as the close upon the animals. Suddenly, with a roar the leopards turn and run back towards the fort, led by a large owl. Curses arise from the goblins as they see the creatures start to outdistance them. With a command from a large goblin near the front, the column picks up speed.

The first goblins are 420 feet from the walls when a faint voice says the word "Launch", followed by a loud whooshing sound. Within seconds, boulders fall from the sky (landing across the goblin horde at a distance of 440 feet). Cries come from goblins, and soon the light cast by the eagle shows that perhaps three dozen goblins are crushed. Many more are injured, and there seems to be confusion in the ranks. A new leader comes forward, and the goblins again form a column. Though slowed, the goblins again advance upon the fortress.

The lead goblins are now 420 feet away.

OOC: Please let me know what you would like to do between now and when they hit the spikes. That would be for the next 5 rounds. Catapults can be launched every other round.

"Fine job, students! Got three dozen or more!" Kendry passes on to Kardon. Assuming the goblins maintain their current heading (straight along the H-I-J-K columns), moving at roughly 60, Kendry whispers the new coordinates H360, I350, I360, J350, J360. 'Launch,' he whispers to Kardon, going for some of the following ranks.

And again, at roughly the same speed and bearing continue, and adjusting for those hit, the next coordinates he gives are H290, I280, I290, J280, J290. If their speed or direction alter, then Kendry will adjust the coordinates appropriately.

Lining up for the next shot - Kendry assumes there will be some scattering once the goblins hit the spiked ground. "Prep a spread at H150, I140, J150, J140, and the left side of K150."

Meanwhile, he fires more arrows each round, hoping to take out or slow down a few here and there.

And, between calling out the coordinates, Kendry whispers to Podo via the active message spell, "Doublecheck the pole arms - looks like we'll have some ladders to push away. Can you start slinging bullets at these guys?"

And, a few moments later, via the message spell, he inquires, "Domi, Alemi - Lots of goblins coming our way. What opponents do you face?"

Shortly the pair stops and the druid calls another spell into the front of the 40' column. pitifully stupid creatures The grasses at the head of the column writhe about the foul creatures.

Looking for other goblins that maybe trying to sneak in on the fortress. He also is checking to see if he could slow down any other enemies. Not sure how many battle rounds we are going to go through so made multiple spot checks.

As the goblins continue towards the fortress, the leopards keep pace in front of them. Turning to face them, Peerimus lets out a roar, enraging the goblins. Curses are uttered, and the goblins rush forward. Grass and vines twist upward and grab at the ankles of the creatures, the entire front of the horde is entangled by the spell Peerimus weaved. Some however are able to slowly move through the plants. Kendry, shoots an arrow and kills one goblin who is escaping. Though it is his whispered word 'launch' that does the most damage. Again the catapults sling massive rocks toward the goblins, who this time are held in place by grasping plants. The students have found their range, and all five catapults strike the target. Few goblins in the entangled area survive, perhaps 50 have died.

Confusion reigns among the goblins. The leaders in the front have all been killed, most of the ladders are destroyed. Erwen flies overhead, her light shining down upon the dead and wounded. With screams of rage, the column breaks. Goblins spread out over the Western half of the open field and run towards the fortress. Kendry sings an inspiring song as he kills 5 more goblins with arrows, and has the students launch 2 more catapult attacks. The goblins now are spread out, so the catapults while deadly kill fewer goblins. Perhaps three dozen goblins die in the last two attacks.

The goblins are now within 140 feet of the fortress, and gain courage by the sight of the wall with few defenders. With a yell, they surge forward. Howls of pain come from the goblins as they encounter the spikes, and most of those that continue forward fall dead before they move 20 feet. The goblins watch as their companions die upon the grass, a look of confusion on their faces.

Nezamil fires upon the goblins but misses, and Bralin awaits upon the wall. Tishe casts a protective spell and also waits. Podo is ready to defend the wall if any reach it. Airin, afraid her friend may be trapped below lets down a knotted rope.

A pair of leopards spring about the break up of the Goblin ranks. Sprinting in from the dark they hit and then in seconds are gone, tore and bloody goblins in thier wake. Each leopard descends with a viscious screeching of a great cat upon seperate goblins. The following round they spring towards another pair at lest 30' from the previous set. To spread the terror around and hopefully get the dim witted creatures more confused.

From the walls, Tishe' pulls a stray lock of wavy brown hair behind one ear, and brings up her crossbow. The lady moves into a repetitious load-aim-shoot and gets off many bolts with her light crossbow (Rapid Fire; reload as free action), but only hits once for 8 damage.

The dwarf looks upon the battlefield seeing the onrushing goblin horde "eh Bralin the wait is the hardest part.... first is like they move so fast getting here then... well... then is like it becomes slow motion.... just waiting for something to happen" adds the dwarf as they wait on the western side of the northern wall

Gilan knows that he will need to get this information to Kendry and the others as fast as possible but he figures to have a little fun and buy them some time as he flies over the area. A series of aerial maneuvers and light hoots and he has a large area of the area in front of the goblins covered in spikes.

Gilan flies in to land lightly upon the crenel nearest Kendry and cocks his head to look at him. He gives a light thrill as he hops off the crenel to land upon the battlement walkway.

As his form slowly begins to melt back into that of Gilan he shakes himself lightly. "We have goblins on the eastern side...about three hundred feet out." He shakes himself lightly as he looks out to the battle and wonders how Peerimus is doing. "But some of them will have hurting feet before they get here." He jumps back up on the crenel and then hops off of it to freefall towards the ground. His change takes him and he is able to pull out way before he would have smacked into the ground.

Airin watches as her friends run back to the Wall and waits with the knotted rope should they need it to climb back up the wall.

While waiting, she observes Erwen who continues to fly over the Kobolds with her ball of light beneath her. "Maybe she should have made a fly by around the Oshir House Airin thinks to herself, but fears the predator in Erwen will not think of such a plan.

"Time for another bonnfire" Airin thinks wickedly as she summons a Flaming Sphere for the second time...

The Kobolds running in front of the horde suddely notice a tiny spark that lights up in the darkness about 30ft in front of them... but the tiny spark quickly grows to a roaring fireball! Horror strikes the Kobold horde as the Flaming Sphere races towards them crashing into the ones in front dealing 10Hp to the one it crashes into!

(the flaming sphere ignites all burning material, so there could be running torches around the battlefield soon ... whuahahaha)

The sound of song coming from Kendry inspires courage to the defenders, while likewise enraging the enemy.

Screams and howls of pain rise from the goblin horde as the encounter the spiked area. The column breaks, and goblins spread out looking for a way across. Commanders bark orders, commanding the goblins to run across the spike regardless of the pain. Some do, with many falling dead before they cross. Peerimus and Shaylin run in and out of the chaos, leaving dead goblins in their wake. From the battlements, arrows and bolts rain down upon the goblins. Kendry kills two, Nezamil kills three, Tishe kills one while Bralin kills another.

Kendry sends messages of success to Alemi and Domi, and finds in return that Alemi has ocrs to deal with while Domi is defending against kobolds. They are also using the catapults to deal massive damage to the enemy.

Suddenly, an large grey owl lands upon the battlement near Kendry. Soon, in its place stands Gilan. Giving a report of more goblins coming from the eastern side of the North wall, he then drops over the wall. No thud is heard, instead a ghostly owls floats off to the North.

Podo and Kendry look towards the east, but it is too dark and the goblins are too far. Ahead, directly North they see that dead goblins are strewn about, like stepping stones across a river.

[Keep in mind that Kendry is flying, up about 120' in the air at G120 at the start of the round. Gilan, though, should have been able to communicate with him via the message spell.]

Learning from Gilan of the additional gathering to the east, Kendry flies off that direction, parallel to the north ramparts of Oshirr House, all the while singing aloud, continuing to inspire courage [again, +2 on all attacks and damage, +2 on saves vs fear, charm].

and on the last line, his voice drops to a whisper, that all who are joined in the message spell can hear, but none others:

As he comes closer to their position when he can get a good fix on their location [using spot roll of 22 for this round from earlier post], he'll prepare to call out in his song upcoming coordinates for the catapults. He hopes that the message in the song will be clear enough to Kardon and those manning the heavy launchers that they'll perform at least a general re-aiming of their weapons more towards the east.

[Kendry will be at about M120 by the end of the round, I think.]

Noticing her friends are starting to fire with bolts and arrows, Airin picks up her Crossbow and starts to fire away. Kendr's Cat's grace spell greatly increases Airin's aim! (right now her Dex is 26 for a +8 modifier!) Not to mention the inspiring songs!

Hearing the General's message the dwarf turns and looks eastward "well lets put a light light on the area "

Pulling a little piece of glowing moss from a pouch the cleric rubs it on the loaded bolt " Domi bring light to the darkness....may the hidden be revealed " intones Nezamil as he then touches his anvil holy symbol(casting light spell on crossbow bolt)

The crossbow bolt flares with brightness and Nezamil then carefully takes aim following Kendry's co-ordinates and launches the lighted crossbow bolt in that direction and waits to see what it reveals

"lets whats sneaking up on us eh Bralin " chuckles the dwarf " as they try and climb the walls i'll make ya bigger.....don't want to cast it too soon this it only last a short time "

Not being a tactician in any sense of the word, she stays where she is, her companion Snout at her side.

The pair of leopards continue striking targets at random throughout the goblin surge of attackers. The calls of the large cats are quickly drowned out by the pained screams of goblins. Upon word of another group of goblins, Kendry flies off to the Eastern side of the North wall. Nezamil, deciding that seeing is believing, casts a spell causing a crossbow bolt to glow brightly. Soon it is sailing to the North where it lands 250 feet from the wall. Goblins scatter and attempt to hide, but it is plain that they have been discovered. A word in a song from Kendry soon has rocks flying through the air towards the new goblin party. The rocks crash down upon them, killing many and causing the rest to scatter.

Peerimus and Shaylin still attack those goblins unlucky enough to stray, and they are quickly silenced.

Tishe wounds a goblin who howls in pain, yet advances with his comrades.

Airin kills two more goblins, taking advantage of the illumination that Erwen provides.

Lit by the light Erwen carries, you see that many goblins are grabbing dead goblins and carrying them to the area where the spikes have been found. The dead bodies are thrown to the ground, where other goblins walk on top of them to throw more dead goblins. They are building a path of dead to walk upon.

Sheepishly, Tishe' looks at Airin, "Oh...yeah. I must have been shuttlecocked to forget."

Seeing the goblins building a bridge of bodies gives Tishe' an idea. "What if we let them build the bridge and then when there are a whole bunch crowded on the narrow strip, we put a barrier on the far side? The catapults would cut a lot of goblin threads!"

Aiming carefully, she lets fly another bolt, striking true (AC 17 , Damage 5)

She continuously scans her field of view for invisible creatures or anything not looking like hordes of goblins attacking from the front. (Spot: See Invisible: 10)

The pair of leopards are on the goblins where the body bridge is being constructed in a few heartbeats. Claws and fangs tear into the hapless creatures.

Kelly - Forgot to put it actually in my post that Gilan dropped a spike stones on the eastern side in front of the goblins. I am also unsure if the message spell would work while in an animal form. Could I get a ruling on that so that I know if I needed to use a shapechange to take back the owl form?

Got spike stones. Message spell only works if they speak owl, since it is a whispered message. Also, not sure if owls are so good at whispering. - DM Kelly

Raising his crossbow the dwarf takes aim at the now illuminated goblins on the eastern side. "Stay still ya squirmy beast," grumbles Nezamil as he fires two shots at the approaching goblins.

"HAHARRR! That corridor they are making is PERFECT for a little bonnfire!!!"

Airin waves her hands and summons a Flaming Sphere for the second time!

About 20ft directly in front of the Goblins who are making a bridge a tiny spark lights up. Quickly it becomes a roaring sphere of fire! The light flickers dangerously upon the razor sharp spikes and illuminates the Goblins that are trying to cross the spikes by making a typically ant sollution to a problem...

Slowly and steadily the Flaming Sphere starts to roll towards the corridor crashlanding into the ones in front setting them ablaze!

Erwen shrieks madly enraged above the goblins and greatly enjoyes this battle. Accustomed to the bright light below her she flies from left to right over the battlefield. Trying to see if nowhere else they are building such bridges to cross the spikes.

Rolls:

Tishe sees the death and destruction of the invading goblins with a great insight. Why everyone cannot treat each other equally and live together is a question without an answer, even when the answer seems easy and obvious. For some reason, the attack of the monsters correlates to the putting of souls within the creatures. Prior to that, they behaved much like most animals, killing for food and territory. (OOC: great message in connection with MLK day!)

Tishe, as dismayed as she is in the destruction, does what she feels she must. Another bolt flies, striking a wounded goblin and dropping him to the earth.

Peerimus and Shaylin again strike fear into those goblins who stray, and are quickly upon two creatures, instantly killing them. This time however there is a shout from a goblin, and soon six javelins fly your direction. They all miss.

Gilan flies toward the goblins on the East, dropping spike stones in front of the group (OOC: let me know which area is spiked).

Nezamil fires two bolts at the Eastern goblins, hitting one and dropping him cold. The fear in the goblin's eyes at having been found so soon is clear.

Kendry flies toward the East singing as he goes. He pulls up and shoots with his bow, killing two goblins with arrows. He takes note of their position, and the sound of catapults cranking can be heard from behind the walls.

Podo, poor Podo. He is so deadly in close combat, he waits for something to do.

Bralin becomes nervous with waiting, and marches off through the air to meet the goblins on the field.

Airin does the most, seeing that the goblins are making a bridge of the dead, she sets her Flaming Sphere down upon them. The front goblin has no choice but to veer to the side. The burning sphere and the spikes he runs to are too much, he drops to the ground dead. The bridge seems to be blocked by fire.

Carefully positioning the Flaming Sphere and rolling from left to right Airin makes sure the Flaming Sphere keeps any Goblin from crossing the "bridge".

So far they have managed to keep the Goblins from getting close to the Oshir house, but with fear Airin gazes at the long steadily marching Goblin Horde and dispite Kendry's inspiring songs, Airin thinks to herself: "Oh dear Mother Nature... such foul creatures... so much hathred... how must we live through this dark hour..."

"I'm not going to waste all my spells and keep some till they break through!" Airin says to those standing close to her."

"We need to consider how our last line of defence will look like. Just take a look how outnumbered we are. Do we have a way to create an illusion that these walls are extremely well defended by countless men? Anyone?"

Then, Airin takes off her backpack and takes out the two oil flasks and both tanglefoor bags she holds. Then she takes two pieces of cloth, drenches them in oil and puts them like a cork in the Oil Flasks, ready to be lit and thrown later... should things go wrong... She places both 'molotov cocktails' and the tanglefoot bags in front of her.

there no chance she can even think about firing a bolt at the moment :-)

"Would we be able to create the illusion of a well defended wall with hay, helmets and bows? Do you think it would resemble a guard, wearing a helmet carrying a bow?!?" she asks to no one in particular...

Throught the dying gurgle of the goblin in his claws, Peerimus hears a far more commnading shout. Soon after, six javelins sink into the area about him and Shaylin. Sharp eyes and sharper ears single out the one who gave the order. [Listen nat 20,26 Spot 24 Handle animal 22]

Two leapords bound across the air in quick strides before pouncing on the latest would be commander.

With a loud TWANG the catapults release and rocks fly over the wall towards the Eastern goblins. Crashing down upon them, the secret second assault team is almost decimated. Less than half remain alive, and those who run find the ground is turned to spikes. Many run less than 20 feet and fall dead with injuries.

Kendry flies toward them singing his song of courage, and pulls his bow up to fire arrows. In the nick of time, he realizes what he thought to be a giant is really Gilan in owl form. He adjusts his aim and drops two more goblins with arrows protruding from their chests.

Tishe, saddened by the goblin's hate tries to kill yet another. She misses.

Airin seems distraught by the magnitude of the onslaught, yet is able to keep her flaming sphere positioned to keep goblins from crossing upon the dead. The sphere hits a goblin who attempts it, and he falls upon the spikes.

Peerimus and Shaylin look to see a large goblin who is barking orders. They decide to rush him, and find he is well defended. Javelins fly as they move toward him. Three javelins hit Peerimus (10 HP damage) and one hits Shaylin (2 HP damage). Nevertheless, they reach the creature and are upon him. He crumbles under the attack. Four nearby goblins swing morningstars, and one connects with Peerimus (2 HP damage). Goblins start swarming towards the leopards.

Podo is lost in thought, waiting still.

Bralin continues advancing towards the decimated Eastern goblins. There are perhaps a dozen left alive, but many seem wounded.

Nezamil makes quick work of one of the wounded, who drops with a bolt through the neck.

With the Eastern goblins almost destroyed and the Western goblins having trouble passing the spikes, it seems like victory may yet come.

"Airin", says the brown-haired girl, "I've can cast a spike growth to create another line if need be, as well as conjure several creatures for a short time to man the walls. Though I confess that I've never been able to cast even the simplest illusions."

"The greater fear that I have is this is too easy. With only goblins before us, I think that Gilan, Peerimus, and Kendry alone could stop these goblins. What if this is only a diversion?"

Thinking about her words, Tishe' turns around and scans the courtyard with her darkvision and invisibility sight. (Spot: See Invisible: 21)

Airin maintains mental connection with the Flaming Sphere and makes it advance very slowly an inch at the time as a menacing force prepares to slowly eat its prey.

"I can not hold on to this sphere for ever friends. Soon it will vanish and then the Goblins will be able to cross the bridge after all." (occ, sphere round 3 out of 5)

"Tische you could be right. This IS too easy... what about those tunnels we saw earlier? Do you reckon these evil forces have found a way to sneak into the Castle through tunnels??"

Like Tisch does, Airin turns around to check the inside of the Castle. Any chance they can contact residents of this place?

Gilan comes in low to the ground when he spots the trouble for his fellow druid. He is changing into his human form as he hits the ground, putting enough distance from himself and goblins to buy time.

His eyes flash though as his body begins to ripple again and soon in his place will be an 800 pound form armed gorillon. The grin that takes in his face is transfered almost perfectly to his new form and he will begin to launch himself towards the fight.

Podo, torn between being a pacifist or a fighter waits for events to unfold. Perhaps events will choose for him.

Thoughts turn to diversions and tunnels for Tishe and Airin. Tishe scans about the courtyard, and can see that those upon the other walls are fighting for their lives. Ladders appear over the top of the battlement, and are quickly thrown down. A few orcs and kobolds have made it to the top, and are ferociously fighting with the students there. You see that there are a few wounded students, and one who is down and not moving. A dark crimson red has spread through his robes.

Airin keeps an eye on the flaming sphere, keeping goblins from moving across the spikes. Meanwhile, she asks about tunnels, and the students with the catapults yells back.

"No tunnels, least none that I know of."

Kendry kills two more goblins, and now Bralin has appeared walking 30 feet above the ground. The few goblins that survive are running about below him, looking for cover.

Gilan, concerned about the attacks to Peerimus and Shaylin lands and turns to a gorillon. Ready to attack. Meanwhile, the damage to Peerimus and Shaylin is prevented by Stoneskin, and they continue to attack.

The intense brown eyes don't see anything wrong with the courtyard, but plenty happening on the other walls!

"Our companions have the goblins well in hand", she tells Airin. "I've got to help the other walls. C'mon Podo, let's get shuttlecocked!"

She turns and moves with all possible speed along the battlements towards the Western Wall. Dropping her crossbow at her feet, she takes out her wand of Magic Missles to help clear some monsters off. (Double move 60')

Snout gamely waddles in his human's wake, grinning at the thought that kobolds are small enough, I wonder if they taste like chicken?

Constantly keeping an eye on her flaming Sphere (two rounds left), Airin watches Tische leave this part of the Oshir House to help defend the rest of it.

"Tische maybe indeed this wasn't a diversion, and our friends back there have done a fantastic job in keeping the enemy away from here. Just be ready to return should things go wrong. I'll give cover with my crossbow..."

The dwarfs eyes follow Bralin's advance his crossbow ready.

As Nezamil stands on the eastern side of the North wall he hears the sounds of battle to his left on the eastern wall and turns and looks as blood spills onto the stone. "i can't leave this side unattended but i fer sure can help dem out," growls the dwarf aloud.

Nezamil Clicks his heels of his boots (activating boots of speed ,free action)and quickly turns his heavy repeating crossbow to the eastern wall and fires at the attackers ...3 bolts streak out towards the attackers on the eastern wall with one findings its mark (d20+5=15 2nd shot)(d10+4=11 damage).

"Stat still so i can get a sure shot at ya," growls Nezamil in frustration.

The old adage 'druids protect nature, and nature protects druids' has never been more true. Try as they might, the goblins cannot get within 130 feet of the North wall. At least half of the goblin horde is dead, and the secret assault team is decimated.

Bralin walks down among the goblins to the East, and kills two as they attempt to flee. They don't even bother to attack.

Peerimus and Shaylin move through the goblin horde on the West, killing them at will. While they attempt to kill the leopards, rumors of magic killing beasts is spreading through the horde. Though blows have hit the leopards that should kill them, they move as though they have not even been hit. Again javelins fly at them, and two strike Peerimus, yet they glance off as if hitting a stone wall (damage 3 HP).

Airin keeps the flaming sphere going, preventing any goblins from crossing the invisible spikes. One goblin tries, and again the fire forces him upon the spikes and to his death.

Kendry kills two more goblins on the East, and now there are only 8 left. They run to the West, hoping to blend in with the larger horde.

Tishe, seeing that the battle is kept from the North wall decides to help on the Western Wall, wand in hand.

Nezamil kills an Orc on the Eastern wall with his crossbow.

More kobolds top the Western wall, and students fight them hand to hand. The kobolds seem clumsy by comparison, but on occasion they strike a student and blood soaks into the robe. Orcs are doing the same on the Eastern wall.

Nezamil observes the last remants of the goblin secret assault team flee towards the western side of the North wall " yeah ya gonna be cat food and ya don't even know it yet " chuckles the dwarf and then he quickly turns and his quickened by his magical boots he hurries to the Eastern wall to help the students defense againist the Orcs .

Running along the walkway atop the castle walls the dwarf stops behind the students and invokes Divine powers " Domi bless these couragous souls with your strength and courage " prays the Cleric of Domi (casting "Prayer" for on all those on the eastern wall)

Sliding his shield off his shoulder and drawing his mace in one smooth motion the dwarf wades into the chaos of the battle " have heart my friends we will win the day ....stand strong" roars Nezamil as he tries to rally the students

Tishe' slows(move 20'), and allows 12 feet of low-slung reptile to move ahead of her on the wall (Snout move 30'). They continue to advance against the kobolds on the Western Wall, and Tishe' lets fly five magic missles from her wand to strike five kobolds close together (dam: 5, 3, 5, 3, 4)

"Keep fighting!" she encourages the students, "Help is on the way!"

Still the sphere does a great job in keeping the Goblins from crossing their bridge. But only 1 round remains. Soon the flames will dissapear...

Peerimus does not understand goblin, but he does understand terror and fear. A great roaring bellow erupts from not too far away, ahh Gilan, glad you could make it brother With a fierce shriek, Peerimus spins about, claws and fangs flashing at any goblin near him. The goblins don't know what to expect. The whole tactical plan was to reach the wall on the Western side of the North wall, gather defenders on that side and have the Eastern contingent scale the walls before defenders regrouped. Not being able to reach the wall wasn't even discussed in the strategy meeting.In fact, most it was scale the walls and kill those inside, then rape and pillage.

Or was it rape, pillage and then kill?

Gilan turns into his gorillian shape, and savagly attacks goblins, killing two. In turn the goblins fight back with morning stars, but are unable to connect.

Peerimus and Shaylin continue the assault, each killing a goblin. A few of the brave goblins manage to attack, and a javelin flies at Peerimus missing him. A goblin also swings a Morningstar but misses also. Shaylin is attack with two morning stars, but they also miss.

Meanwhile, Kendry kills two more with his arrows. He also targets the goblins on the west side with catapults. Rocks whistle overhead and crash to the ground, crushing those beneath. Two of the catapults are off target (see the 2's rolled), and crash near Peerimus, Shaylin and Gilan (each roll reflex save for half damage, otherwise take 21 HP damage each).

Tishe moves toward the Western wall, and kills 4 kobolds with magic missles. Snout leads the charge. The students are able to push the ladder away after Tishe kills the kobolds upon the wall.

Nezamil moves toward the East wall, and blesses those upon the wall. It seems to help, but still two more orcs make it to the top.

The catapult rocks seem to have caused great commotion, but with orders shouted from a leader deep inside their ranks, the goblins start to form up again. It has come to the knowledge of the goblins that the orcs and kobolds have gained the wall, and they have not. With a sudden awareness, they as one start to push together, reforming the column. They run right at the ball of fire, several goblins fall upon the spikes dead. One is burned to death, but they do not break formation.

Gilan senses the incoming boulder and is able to spin with it as it connects with his shoulder. Though it hurts he channels that anger into his next set of attacks as he uses the spin to lead him into more goblins.

With renewed furry he tears into the goblins with teeth and claws. He does search the battlefield for more targets or things that mean the goblins are coming together.

With the misfire of the catapult, Kendry has the students aim at those lined up farther back, so as to make misfires less likely to hit allies.

Podo rounds the corner to the west. He looks at the kobolds, savage reptilian cries issuing from their throats as they attack the students. Peace?

He sees the bloodstain spreading on one of the student's tunics. There is a time for peace, certainly. But, for now, to regain peace, and ensure that these young students of Domi and Alemi find more than the peace of the grave, it is time to fight.

Podo leaps in to the midst of a grouping of kobolds (boots of striding and springing assisting), and strikes out with fists and feet, elbows and knees. His blows hit four. But he lands his blows so as to do non-lethal damage, aiming to disable, to render unconscious, rather than to kill - except, perhaps, for the first kobold, whom he kicked in the chest while the reptilian humanoid crested the parapet, and whose stunned body now falls down the ladder others try to scale.

"Mother Wold, hear my plea, let grasses below entwine for me!" Words are woven with gestures, and a little ways out from the wall, grasses grab at ankles and toes, entangling the kobolds below [Entangle Spell Reflex DC 14]

Snout does a savage jerk of his head and lets the kobold fall to the ground. "PThhhhah!" NOT like chicken! If there is another in range, he'll charge and bite (AC 25 Dam: 13)

Airin feels the strength of the Flaming Sphere is withering. No matter how hard she tries, gradually she feels her connection to the flames is passing. With one last effort she makes the sphere advance as far as possible in the Goblin Horde, setting as many goblins on fire as possible. After that the sphere dissapears as quickly as it appeared...

the bridge is open... Goblins will soon cross it and swarm passed the spikes and traverse the last 150ft that keep them from getting to teh Wall.

"TISCHE! PODO! BE CAREFUL! THE FLAMES ARE GONE AND THE GOBLINS WILL CROSS THEIR BRIDGE!!"
Airin shouts to her friends who are fighting on the East Wall now.

She recognises the signs Tische makes and realises her friend is trying to spot the enemy by Entangling them! "Dear Mother Nature, you have thought me that spell as well!" she thinks to herself, "Let's take away all their hopes to ever close range on this Wall!"

Airin makes identical incantations as Tische did on the East Wall, and just opposite of the Goblin Bridge (between I and J, 90Ft North of the Wall) all grasses and weeds start to crawl up entangling all Goblins that attempt to cross the bridge!

OOC: Sorry for missing Airin's attacks, was focused on the Flaming Sphere and was thinking that was her action. Then I read it and realized that if you don't move it, you can do other things.

Gilan catches a glancing blow from a boulder, but manages to avoid the direct hit. He tears apart a goblin, and shrugs off two attacks.

Peermus and Shaylin are also hit by rocks, but the magical Stone Skin protects them from damage. Each of them also tear apart a goblin. They are attacked by two goblins each, but they cannot be hit.

Airin kills two orcs with arrows, and warns of the end of the Flaming Sphere. She is also able to cast Entangle, and the goblin horde is once again slowed, many of them stuck fast by the grabbing grasses.

Kendry gives instructions to shoot farther back with the catapults, and is able to kill two goblins with his arrows.

Podo runs to the West wall, and kicks and spins sending three kobolds over the wall crashing upon the kobolds below. He also drops one to his knees, where he gasps for breath.

Tishe entangles the kobolds at the base of the wall, preventing them from making it to the ladder. The result is amazing. With the kobolds slowed and many entangled, the students are able to push the ladders back and dispatch the kobolds upon the wall. Snout helps too, and finds that kobolds taste no better than they look.

Nezamil wades through the orcs and kills three. More orcs are coming over the wall, and students there are engaged in hand to hand combat, unable to push the ladders away. Two orcs attack Nezamil, but they don't even come close to hitting him.

To the North a chant rises up, and the goblin horde rushes forward. The last of the flaming sphere stops some, as they burst into flame. Two of the goblins make it slowly through the twisting grass, but most are held fast. A scream of rage is heard.
Meanwhile the catapults crank.

Gilan, in girallon form, dances away from the goblins that attacked him. His smile widens as he goes through a series of hoots. Within a few seconds his muscles bulge as a spell takes effect upon him, enhancing his strength.

The next two arrows he sends toward the pair of goblins who are managing to move through the grass: AC 32: 18 hp; AC 20: 14 hp. Hmmm... if I were hasted, I could increase my attacks by 50%! he thinks to himself. Maybe later, should some get through to the wall. How is Airin now? Of course, she's fine. Did she not just let us know of the ball of flame?

The swift little hobbit thinks to himself that he wishes there were something he could do to help heal those wounded.

But there are more kobolds to deal with, he thinks grimly. He again leaps forward to the next grouping on the wall, and in a flurry of blows, does critical damage to the first (AC 32, threat, AC 27 crit) of 8+14=20 hp, as the kobold goes flying up in the air. The second kobold ducks Podo's spinning backhand, but the fellow next to him is struck with the same backhand soundly (AC 19) for 13 hp damage. Podo then lifts his knee into the chest of another kobold (AC 18) for 13 hp [if that connects].

The smallish monk sets himself for the next gathering of kobolds, especially wanting to assist whichever student looks most beleaguered.

Tishe' looks around. The kobolds are all off the wall, and Podo is here to help keep them off. The goblins are being kept away as well, but the Orcs! The orcs are surmounting the wall and not even the powerful Nezamil will be able to hold the wall himself.

"Podo, you stay here, Snout and I will help the western wall!" And the mystic runs (x4 speed) to the north wall and over to the east. Snout's crocodilian form raising up and racing after her.

The catapult rocks thunder in and both cats take damage, but the protection of Mother sees them through. "Stand fast Shaylin. We are the break wall." Both big cats continue their flurry of swipes, rakes and bites. A deadly combination of magic, agility and power.

Pleased to see the effect of the entanglement, Airin continues to fire at every Gobline that starts to cross the 80ft filled with grappling weeds.

Druids, several druids. Usually they don't travel well together, yet here they are in the past looking for answers and finding themselves defending a fortress. Others look on, amazed that a few can do so much.

Erwen flies above, casting light upon the goblins who attempt to cross the spikes and then find themselves entangled.

Peerimus, Shaylin and Gilan shake off the effects of the rocks. They move through the goblins kills as they move. Peerimus and Shaylin each kill a goblin. Peerimus is struck twice by morningstars (9hp damage), while Shaylin proves difficult to strike. Gilan attempts to cast a spell, and brings upon himself two additional attacks (AoO Hit AC 21 - misses). The spell works, and he gains the strength of a bull. Again the goblins try and strike him, but he is difficult to hit.

Kendry sings a tune, which instills courage to his friends and causes fear in the hearts of the goblins. Looking for those who manage to move through the entangled area, he quickly kills two.

Bralin rushes to help the druids and Kendry, yet rushing for a dwarf requires a new definition of the term 'rush'.

On the West wall, Podo and Airin have turned the tide. Podo is able to dispatch the last three kobolds on the wall. Airin kills a kobold who is slowly moving through the entangled area. With a whistle, she summons Erwen to her.

Tishe and Snout decide to help upon the Eastern wall beset with Orcs, and move towards it.

Upon the Eastern wall, Nezamil is beset by several Orcs (roll your attacks for this round later). Three Orcs attack him, and one is able to connect with his crude sword (3 hp damage). Nearby students kill two Orcs, and more Orcs take their place as they climb up the ladder.

The goblins' attempt to rush the wall has been foiled by the entangle spell. Great cries of anguish are heard from the North.

Gilan's grin widens as the spell he cast takes effect and it takes only a moment to react. Launching himself at the nearest group of goblins he once again becomes a dervish of claws and teeth. "RRRROOOAAARRRRR!" A primal roar is all that alerts the goblins to his presence and he does not slow a bit.

Always liking to mix it up, Kendry pulls from out his haversack a smaller sack. He upends the contents--five flasks of alchemist's fire, giving an ever-so-slight wave of the bag so that the flasks fall down in a rough line over the goblin-lined footbridge made by the bodies of their comrades, at I125 to I140 from the walls (the little g's on the map).

The missiles fall in a slight parabolic arc, gaining speed, then shattering with the sharp sound of breaking glass, and the sudden whoosh of bursting flame, bits of the flammable liquid sticking to those adjacent the hapless recipients of the direct hits on heads and shoulders.

[I'm rolling unmodified d20s for the ranged touch attack, as he is not throwing them so much as dropping them: AC 7 (probably missed a direct hit, but will do 1 hp damage to all in adjacent squares); AC 14, 18, 19 and 19 all should be direct hits, doing: 3 hp, 8, 8, 8 damage, each on a different goblin. Each directly hit goblin takes an additional d6 fire damage next round (rolled 4(+3=7 total), 4(+8=12), 5(+8=13) & 1(+8=9) for next round's additional damage). All in splash range take 1 hp damage. Due to the height of the fall, it's up to our dauntless DM to decide whether there is any additional damage due to the speed of the flasks when they hit.]

Podo recalls that there is something he might do to help staunch the flow of blood. The monk approaches the student who is bleeding, and pulls forth from his gear a healer's kit. "Here, let me clean that wound, and apply some ointment, and a bandage." He does what he can to stabilize, and give him a chance to heal. [Healing, untrained, 24, using masterwork Healers Kit.]

As Erwen flies back to Airin the druid casts a spell so she can speak with Erwen.

"Erwen, fly around the castle. Fly to the east wall first so the orcs scaling the walls are dazzled by your bright light. It will help the students defending the wall. The fly onwards to the south and west and report back to me. Try to see what goes on on the other sides of the castle. We may be doing a good job here, but we need to know what goes on elsewhere. Hurry Erwen, hurry!!"

With that said, Airin sends Erwen back up in the sky and watches the bird as she prepares for her tour around the Oshirr House. (don't know how long this will take her)

Then she looks to the field of entangling weeds and once again fires at any Goblins that attempt to cross the field.
