Jake  d6=5 d6=1 d20+4=8
Wednesday February 8th, 2006 2:44:54 AM

(Forgot to roll damage last round, 6.)
Jake hears the sound and sighs. A fight! And the insects are not too far off! Or maybe the big thing will take care of them...ohhh doh what to do!
Jake thinks to his knowledge of the plains and can't figure out who these guys are. Could be anybody, he thinks to himself. But it's probably bad since they shot my buddy...
Jake sighs and drops his torch. Readying his shield, he moves up towards the enemy. (20 feet towards them) Still gauging them.
"Hey, ya dirty grassbiters, get ready to get yer butt baked!"

Tishe' and Stripes  d20+7=25 d20+2=9 2d6(5+1)=6 2d6(4+2)=6
Wednesday February 8th, 2006 3:49:23 AM

The opening of the mouth looks huge, but Tishe' can't get out! The acid burns her skin and clothing and she looks in despair at Gilan, Cirian and Stripes when, behold! The large form of Mac arrives and grabs for the two humans. Tishe' clings desperately to the strong minotaur and lets him carry her out.

Jostled and hurting as she is(6 damage), she concentrates on Stripes (Concentration: 25) to lift him in the air with thier shared spell and fly him out of the mouth. It is obvious the hyena can't make it out himself (Jump: 9)(6 damage)

Anuk [HP 52/52, AC 22 (AC 23 vs raider he aims for - dodge)]  d20+12=23 d20+11=28 d20+16=30 d20+11=27 d8+4=5 d8+4=10 d6=6 d6=2
Wednesday February 8th, 2006 10:40:37 AM

Mac's in there with Gil and Tishe'...he'll get 'em out, thinks Anuk, but the feeling in his chest from the tear tells him the situation isn't good. Gry's battlecry rings in his ears and Anuk sees the raiders coming down the beast's wake.

That's it, he thinks, keep comin' at us right out in the open where I can see you, you stupid treadles. Two arrows whiz from his bow toward the same raider that Gry attacked, crackling with energy as they go.

"We're with you Gry!" He calls out to his friend.

Trellus (Ac 23, 38/67 hp, Air Walk, Spt Wpn 1/8, -9 STR)  d20+7=27 d20+11=13
Wednesday February 8th, 2006 10:51:39 AM

"OW!" Trellus yells as two crossbow bolts slam into his back. Swinging away from the Ranthom, he looks at the group behind it, and him.
[Knowledge 27]

"RAIDERS!" he calls out in warning to his pack. He also yells out a the general numbers of the raider group to give his packmates an idea of what's coming.

There are truly WAY too many sunbaked picks going on here. The man sends a quick prayer Domi's way that Mac can get the others out of the Ranthom. In the meantime, one of these treadles with the crossbow needs a lesson.

Trellus sketches a spell, causing a glowing hammer to appear and stike the dude with the good aim.
[Spiritual Wpn - attack the crit producing crossbow guy - hit ac 13, yuck]

The cleric runs downward to ground level, falling in behind Grymash and Jake. He pulls out his CSW wand as he descends.

Gilan looks up to see Mac moving in his direction. He then feels the large taur grab and toss him over his shoulder. Making no struggle to stop him he looks to Ciaran and nods his head in the direction of the way out of the ranthom's mouth, he just hopes that he is able to get out.

Ciaran is unable to get out of the things mouth and whines as he struggles to get free.

Grymash is upset as he sees Trellus get pelted by bolts from behind them. He pulls out his own bow and delivers a pair of arrows at the closest crossbow wielder.

Flea is to her feet in an instant and pulls out a wand. She slips further into the grass and stalks forward as he free hand clutches the new amulet around her neck.

Jake turns at the sound of combat and sighs. He prepares himself for combat as he moves up closer to Grymash. He yells out to them...an insult really and promise.

Tishe' is overjoyed to find that Mac is there to help them out. She had been just about ready to give it up as a lost cause. Still the acid burns her as Mac throws her over his shoulder and then moves to grab Gilan as well. With a little concentration Stripes is flying out of the mouth of the ranthom.

Anuk turns to the commotion behind the group, secure in the knowledge that Mac will get them out of the ranthom. He quickly sends off a pair of crackling arrows at the crossbow wielder that Grymash shot at.

Trellus is able to tell exactly who these men are and it does not set well. He knows that they will be take alive if possible and sold into slavery. He casts a simple spell that brings up a hammer that takes a wack at one of the crossbow wielders. He then begins his decent to land behind Jake and Grymash, drawing a wand as he does.

Gilan notices Mac moving in his direction and sighs inwardly. He hates the bite of the acid and the jolt of being thrown over a shoulder is painful to say the least. He watches as Ciaran struggles and tears appear in his eyes as he watches his brother.

Mac grabs ahold of the two packmates that he can reach the easiest. With both of them over his shoulders he jumps back out of the ranthom's mouth and lands on the ground. He falls into a roll that saves him a little damage but leaves Tishe' and Gilan rolling into the grass.

Ulgren gets his belt done up and calls out for the range of the enemy. He has a two different spells in mind but needs to know which would most likely reach.

A raider near the front(R3) had dropped his crossbow shortly after firing off his one bolt. He reaches out with his free hand and deflects the first arrow that Gry shot and it slams into the ground. He is not as lucky as the two arrows from Anuk slam into him and he grunts under the impact. Gry's other arrow flies wide of it's mark and is lost in the grass. The raider then races forward with blinding speed.

The raider(R1) in behind the main line has dropped his crossbow as well and his hands start to weave out a spell. You are sure from the smile on his face that whatever it was has taken effect. The magical hammer that appeared near him goes wide of it's target as the centaur steps out of the way.

Raider(R4) lazily spins a flail as he starts to move in the general direction of the group. He seems intent on facing off against someone.

Raider(R5) set a double flail to spinning as he too moves forward towards the group. He seems intent on taking the fight to the group as well.

Raider(R2) was hidden by the raider in front of him and he smiles as he notices the group. His hands weave in a complicated fashion and he points his finger at Grymash.

You hear a large intake of breathe from behind or off to the side of the group. Suddenly this air is forced out of a nice tight space and you hear the desperate howl of a wolf. Anyone that looks to see what is going on will see Ciaran shooting thirty feet into the air and sailing in the opposite direction of his brother, Tishe' and Mac. The last you see of him is his body slipping into the grass on the side of the path that the ranthom has cleared, you hear nothing else.

Raiders1&2 are roughly 90 feet from the group. raiders3&4&5 are roughtly 65 feet from the group at this time.

GrymashHighlight to display spoiler: { - Will DC 20 or be frozen in place, though you can still hear and breathe.}

Rolling in the 'Grass, the average-looking woman tries to avoid as much damage as possible (Untrained Tumble: 15) and then sends a heart-touch to the others telling them that she is all right.

Tishe' stands and tries to assess the situation, just now noticing that the ranthom wasn't the only threat to the Bloodpack.

Flying out of the ranthom, a acid-scarred, ugly-headed, mangy-furred hyena yowls and yips a storms of hyena profanity. He lands and, head hung low, scampers for the protection of the grasses to hide.

Anuk sees his arrows reach their target and he smiles with grim satisfaction. "Here," he mumbles, "have some more."

Two more arrows streak toward the raider.

"Any chance we can lead 'em back to the water?" he calls out to the pack. "Maybe let 'em have a little swim with the bugs?"

Jake (AC 28, 53/59, Prayer)  d20+8=23 d4=1
Thursday February 9th, 2006 1:19:46 PM

Jake eyes the opponents over the field of grass. It's still noisy in the background, what with the chomping monster heading off, the yelping hyena, and all the movement of everyone, but he cuts that out.
The raiders look skilled, confident, and well-organized. Jake doesn't like that last part, especially, and their weapons make him yell a warning back to his companions. The arrow-blocker looks like a fast striker, and he can't let that guy get near the mages, especially. The centaur's a priest or mage, but he's too far in the back. The minotaur and half-orc are probably attackers, but those chains look tricky. Probably make me lose my sword, Jake realizes with a twinge of concern. And the last one is probably also a caster, but too far back.
"These raiders are a team, guys..We gotta ruin their tactics." Jake draws a dagger and with a flash throws it across the grass. It twirls end over end, and despite the distance, gets pretty close to his mark (the drow).
(Hit AC 23 - 8 from distance (90 feet away = - 8 10 foot increments of dagger) + 1 from prayer = AC 16. Not sure if that'll hit, but considering he looks like the unarmored type, I'll try. 6 damage if it does)
"Don't charge them, let them come to us..."

"Everything happens at once!" he mutters as he walks up to beside Ulgren (30' move) whilst drawing his bow (free action as a part of a move) and follows Anuk's arrows with one of his own (same target - R3), hitting AC:25 for 16 damage.

A hero point of my very own! I'd almost forgotten what they looked like : )

Gilan [HP: 47/69 - AC: 19] Ciaran [HP: /80 - AC: 22]
Thursday February 9th, 2006 7:28:00 PM

Gilan is thankful to be out of the ranthom and rolls onto his back in the grass. Then he hears the intake of air and the sudden expulsion. To his horror he sees Ciaran go flying into the air and away from him. "Ciaran...." He gets to his feet slowly with worry and tears on his face. He starts to move in the direction of his brother with a serious look of worry.

Ciaran is not sure what happened till he finds himself flying in the air. He knows that he does not have wings and this will not end well. Then he feels the rush of air as he is falling and all the things he did not get to do go through his lupine brain.

Friday February 10th, 2006 12:54:42 AM

Tishe' rolls and comes up on her feet after Mac jumps out. She sends out a heart touch to the rest of the pack to let them know that she is ok. Stripes slinks off into the grass not wanting to really be a part of this right now.

Anuk fires off a pair of arrows at the raider he shot at earlier. They crackle and humm as they fly through the air.

Trellus calls out to his pack to stay ready and watch for tricks. He stays in his position near both Grymash and Jake with his wand still in hand. His hammer takes another shot at the one he figures to be a cleric.

Jake takes in the distance between himself and the enemy. It is really a desperate shot but he throws a dagger at the caster in the back anyways.

Mac moves up to stand beside Ulgren and pulls out his own bow. He lets fly an arrow at the raider that Anuk is shooting at.

Gilan is quick to his feet as he watched poor Ciaran fly through the air. He is more concerned at this time with getting to his brother than anything else.

Grymash fights off the spell that threatens to take hold of him but it also enrages him. He races forward towards one of the nearest raiders, the one that just happen to have a heavy flail in his hands. He strikes out at the minotaur with all his strength and rage.

Ulgren tries to call the pack together so that he can make use of his haste spell and then start with other things that will help out the group as a whole. He does cast a simple shield spell upon himself and then asks Mac about his own protection or enlargement.

Flea stops in the grass as she listens to what is going on around. She is uncertain as to what she can do at this time...weapon or arrows.

The human raider(R3) who now holds no weapon moves forward he picks off the first of the two arrows that Anuk fires at him. The second arrow misses as the man bends in a most ackward position, but continues to move. The arrow fired by Mac though finds an opening in his defenses and thuds home.

The centaur raider(R1) feels the hammer slam into him but does not loose his focus as he moves to catch up with the three that are moving forward.

The drow raider(R2) brings his hand up and together as he chants in a low voice. With a smile he starts to pull his hands apart. A blazing wall of fire appears, cutting Grymash off from the rest of the pack. The thrown dagger flies by him not even making him flinch and is lost to the grass.

The minotaur raider(R4) sends his flail at Grymash as he pulls up close on him[AOA - hit: 21 and damage: 18]. The double axe still bites into the large minotaur with a mighty blow, that sends blood spraying over Grymash. The minotaur smiles as it is now his turn to deal out some damage[hit: 30/17/26 and damage: 20/26/26]. "Try not to die on me...you will make lots of money at the auction."

The half-orc raider(R5) smiles as he see that this one was foolish to come to them so fast. He moves up on Grymash's side but not flanking with the minotaur. His dire flail is sent into a spin at the open side of Grymash[hit: 27/30/33/31 and damage: 6/10/9/9].

Raider 1 - centaur - AC 20
Raider 2 - drow - AC ?
Raider 3 - human - AC 22
Raider 4 - minotaur - AC 20
Raider 5 - half-orc - AC ?

The centaur cleric also cast Prayer. I guess the two will cancel each other out, but only once the groups get within 50 feet of each other. Unless the spell is only does it thing on the initial casting and then will not effect anyone even if they move into the casting area. Not sure if that is how it works or not.

Anuk [HP 52/52, AC 22 (AC 23 vs R3 - dodge)]
Friday February 10th, 2006 11:38:10 AM

When the wall of fire appears, Anuk stows his bow and concentrates on the area where the raiders were before the wall went up. He mutters a few words of incantation.

(Casts entangle, centered on last known position of R1. Reflex save DC 15)

"Hope that holds 'em for a bit while we get over there to help Gry," he says. "Mac, wanna toss me over that campfire they set up?"

Spell info:
Range: Long (400 ft. + 40 ft./level)
Area: Plants in a 40-ft.-radius spread
Duration: 1 min./level (D)
Saving Throw: Reflex partial; see text

Grasses, weeds, bushes, and even trees wrap, twist, and entwine about creatures in the area or those that enter the area, holding them fast and causing them to become entangled. The creature can break free and move half its normal speed by using a full-round action to make a DC 20 Strength check or a DC 20 Escape Artist check. A creature that succeeds on a Reflex save is not entangled but can still move at only half speed through the area. Each round on your turn, the plants once again attempt to entangle all creatures that have avoided or escaped entanglement.

The wall of fire is down.

I would think that the arrows would only do electricity damage unless they actually hit.

Mac moves 30' (3 steps diagonally and 2 up) and lets tear another arrow. He no longer has a line to R3, so he shoots at the drow (R2, not Ulgren!) 95'-100' away.

The shots hits AC:31 (Nat20!) Crit check hits AC:30 (oh my...) for 11 points damage or 33 points if a critical.

"Still smirking you schmuck?!"

Gilan [HP: 47/69 - AC: 19] Ciaran [HP: 43/80 - AC: 22]  6d6(6+1+4+6+2+2)=21
Friday February 10th, 2006 9:06:09 PM

Gilan hits the grass on the other side to find Ciaran laying in the grass. He drops to his knees as he lays a hand upon his brother. "I am so sorry Ciaran...here." He starts a low chant that will allow him to channel healing into his brother.

Ciaran lays upon the ground trying to gain his strength back. To his mind he feels like crap and does not really want to move...but he also knows that he has a job to do.

Jake (AC 28, hp 53/59, prayer)
Saturday February 11th, 2006 6:15:18 PM

The fire's down! Time to go in and take 'em on, at least, Gry gives no other choice but that. And, Jake realizes, he can sneak up and take care of those spellcasters, maybe... Jake figures he can't get close enough to fight anyone this round, so he might as well get up and get close to those enemies who are the least protected. So he cuts loose running towards the very rear of the enemy, past the two fighters, right near the drow mage and centaur. (I estimate it's about 80 feet, so I think I can get nearly there in this round by running).

Ulgren: Mage Armour(extended), Mount. Shield Hps:20/33 AC 24  7d6(2+4+3+3+4+6+3)=25

Ulgren nods at Trellus' words and moves another 30' forward. The drow then raises his right hand and a small glowing bead springs from his fingertip and flies directly at R1. A fireball explodes at the raiders feet and engulfs the area. (Damage 25 reflex 20 for half)

Ulgren casts a spell upon Mac and then moves forward to the combat and the flame wall.

Trellus watches as Gry charges forward into the fight with the raiders. He then watches as a wall of pure flame comes up. His only idea is to bring it down with a spell of his own and he succeeds.

Tishe' hears the call for help and casts a spell of her own that will bring into being a host of friends that should even the odds...or she hopes.

Anuk stows his bow as the wall is brought up and then he sees it go down. He casts a spell of his own on the position of one of the raiders...one that he hopes will slow them down.

Mac races forward with his bow and an arrow nocked. He lets it fly at the mage as he pulls up close. He does taunt the mage as he fires off the arrow.

Gilan finds Ciaran laying in the grass and very hurt. He plans to pump some healing into his brother as soon as he has the time. Otherwise he comforts the wolf as best he can.

Flea sends a barrage of missiles from a wand that she pulled out. The unnervingly head towards the mage but seem to detenate upon a blue barrier that flares as they should touch him.

Gry does what he does best as he taunts the minotaur. He tears into him with the best shots he has in his arsenal.

Jake races forward to reach the melee combat as he sees the wall go down. He hopes that he has enough time to get there and lay some punishment on the casters.

The cleric(R1) starts to speak another spell and his hands gesture as he gives a smile to the pack that they face. With a gesture of his hand he sends out his own spell. Even with the damage from that the spiritual hammer is causing the cleric still looks to be in fit shape.

The mage(R2) pulls up the rod that he has in his hand and smiles at Mac as he gives him a little salute. The motions of his hands and the way he speaks leads you that he is casting another spell. A new wall of flame springs up but this time it runs right through both Jake and Mac. Just as quickly he is back into casting another spell and a marble sized pee flies out to slam into the ground just a little behind Ulgren, that expands into a full blown fireball.

The minotaur(R4) is not looking so good after the last barrage of hits from Grymash but he is still standing. His eyes flare as his muscles bulge, he begins to foam at the mouth and he seems lost in a bloodlust. With little thought to tactics he sends his own heavy flail slamming in at Grymash with a vengeance[hit: 36/13/35 and damage: 23/21/18].

The half-orc(R5) moves forward so that he is in the way of Jake and Mac, though he does not move close enough for Mac to hit him. He is on purposely staying out of range as he twirls his weapons, causing it to spin before him, with a large smile upon his face.

The human(R3) also moves to get within range of Jake and Mac if they step the rest of the way through the flaming wall. He seems more than ready as he bobs lightly on his feet, still not holding a weapon.

Soon Anuk, Trellus, Ulgren and Flea notice something odd as the very grass that they stand upon starts to writh around them. It shoots up in all directions and tries to grab at you with a mind of its' own. You get the feeling that something is not right here but what is it.

It appears that the group that got caught in the entangle spell are not effected for some reason.

Stephen - please only count the first two hits from the half-orc raider(R5). The second attack is due to a spell.

Jake and Mac - 19 fire damage from the wall of fire.

Trellus, Anuk, Ulgren and Flea - Reflex DC 19 or take 29 damage or 14 damage if you pass. You will also need to make a Reflex DC 15 or be entangled.

Jake - Willpower DC 20 or be held in place.

Stephen - Sorry about the mix-up with the attacks from the other raider. I was trying to get that post in before it got too late. Will be more careful in the future but if I miss something or mess something up please let me know.

Ulgren - Please repost your fireball so that I can make it part of my next post. You will get the spell off despite the entangle, if you get caught.

Her pearl of power flares (saved spell), and the spellweaver again summons forth her magics to call allies to the fight. (Summon III)

Jake (hp 31/59, prayer)  d4=2 d4=1 d20+3=23
Tuesday February 14th, 2006 4:22:28 AM

(Kinda confused about the map. I assumed Jake could easily run all the way to R2 when the wall of fire was down. Kinda wastes a round of running...but them's the breaks)
Jake is on fire... ouch. Again. Ouch.
Jake sighs, as the enemy has manuevered in his way... So, he does the tactic he did last round.
Seeing as the enemy isn't close enough to the wall to feel the heat, so to say (just an assumption I'm guessing, because everyone with 20 feet takes 1d4 fire damage, everyone within 10 feet takes 2d4, and the enemy doesn't seem to be singed by the fire, though wary of it), Jake steps the rest of the way through the fire and high-tails it over along the fire's warmth, taking some more fire damage, but not getting close enough to the two guys waiting to beat him and Mac up. (In the process, I'll take 2d4 fire damage, by staying close to the fire... 3 more damage) He skirts the wall heading west, behind Grymash, then comes up on the west flank of the enemy.
Then Jake uses the rest of his movement to get to his desired location. The drow wizard's square. He figures he's gonna be hammered for all this...but at least it'll make him the focus of some spells, and try to mess up with the enemy's persistent tactics.

(Will save, natural 20! yay!)

There would be no extra damage taken by Jake. The hot side of the wall is pointed away from the raiders.

Mac - AC:20, HP:50/84, Prayer, Blur  d20+16=19 d20+16=17 3d6(1+6+5)+13=25

Mac drops his bow beneath him (in the upper-right cell of the four he occupies, out of the WoF) as a free action, takes a 5' step in the same direction as a move action, with which he combines drawing his great axe, and attacks (with 10' reach), hitting AC:19 [Spend my newly gained Hero Point for a retry] ...hitting AC:17 @$#@$#@%$#@#! for a very unlikely 25 points damage.

Anuk [HP 20/52, AC 22 (AC 23 vs R3 - dodge)]  d20+9=17 d20+9=15 d20+12=32 d8=8
Tuesday February 14th, 2006 10:37:20 AM

Fire, fire everywhere. Flames erupt around the ranger, searing him with intense pain (reflex 17). When it disappears he glances around to survey the damage and sees Ulgren lying in a heap, his body quickly being surrounded by plant growth (spot 32-nat 20). Twisting and turning to avoid the writhing plants, he makes his way to the drow (reflex 15 - move half speed), grabs a stoppered vial from his pack and pours the contents down Ulgren's throat.

(potion of CLW, restores 8 hp)

ooc:As I recall, Ulgren does not have the tear in his chest through which to give hp - is that correct? JimW - thanks for the info on the arrows!.

Preoccupied with the reappearing fire wall, Trellus never sees the pea green bead until the world explodes in fire about him. [Reflex 8]
"Yearrgh!" he cries in agony as the flames sear his flesh.

The only positive coming out of the situation is the cleric is now focused on his immediate surroundings and quickly spots the encroaching grass. He steps upward into the air to avoid that spell [Reflex 18]

These dudes are good, he thinks to himself. A twinge of fear makes its way up the blond man's spine. He suppresses it. There is too much work to do to give in to fear. Focus Dude!

Ulgren is down. So he's first. Trellus reaches over and taps his packmate with his healing wand.

Then he moves forward toward the fighters, climbing up the air to get over the fire wall.

Grymash (ac6, hp-28)
Tuesday February 14th, 2006 7:29:48 PM

There is a slathering spray of crimson in the air. Then suddenly and sickenly, Grymash the barbarian cleric of Gargul, splits in half. His upper body twists and contorts in a way that is very unpleasant to look at, and then falls to the ground. His lower half soon follows. There he lies, in pieces. The creepers revel in their bloody banquet. Grymash is dead, with his double axe still clutched tightly in his hands.

Gilan sends healing into Ciaran with a spell given to him by Mother Wold. Then he feels the searing pain as Gry goes down. He clutches at his chest as he sends some of his own life into the half-orc. "Gry...hold on."

Ciaran slowly gets to his feet and nudges his brother. He is more than ready to get into the fray now...if his brother is ready.

Wednesday February 15th, 2006 1:34:47 AM

Ulgren finds that the fiery blast that rolls over him is too much and he collapses to the ground. His life force is nearly spent and he wavers on the boundary to the other side.

Tishe' completes her spell from last round and a celestial hippogryph appears some fifty feet from her. She gives it orders to attack the mage and it flies off to do her bidding. She then starts to call upon another ally for the group as she sends healing to Grymash. Stripes is still in hiding from his earlier ordeal and does not make an appearance.

Jake steps on through the wall and is scorched a little by the flames that make up the wall. He then moves in past Grymash and then moves in the direction of the mage. He is happy to note that he is able to skirt all of the nasties...at least for the time being.

Mac also steps out of the wall and with what is not really up to his standards he launches an attack at the half-orc from a safe distance. He just wishes that his axe had found a hold in the raiders flesh instead of air.

Anuk is able to avoid the worst of the flames from the fireball and then the grasping grass. He moves to kneel by Ulgren and administers a potion to the downed drow that almost brings him back to his senses.

Trellus is not so lucky as he takes the full blast of the fireball and the new wall is troubling as well. Luckily he is able to float up and away from the grasping grass and then over to Ulgren. He applies a tap of his healing wand tot he downed drow just shortly after Anuk administers the potion. His hammer takes another strike at the cleric and hammers home for a little damage.

Grymash can feel the flail slam into his body and then all he feels is nothingness. He does not feel the pull to Gargul's realm or much of anything else. He is just hitting the ground and then nothing.

Gilan pumps healing into his brother and then sacrifices some of his own hit points for the good of Grymash who he felt slip into nothingness. His chest burns as the half-orc he calls friend falls and it is all he can do to get the healing to him. Ciaran is back up and wondering what is paining his brother but he is ready to do a little fighting. Both move a little ways back into the eaten grass path.

Flea is suddenly very happy that she is a rogue. The fireball wraps all around her but does not touch her at all. The grass is equally ineffective against her. Having dropped to the ground she crawls through the grass to reach Ulgren and touches him with her own wand, sending more healing into the drow.

The centaur(R1) takes another strike from the hammer and is starting to get annoyed. He sees the enemy half-orc go down and smiles as he moves in his direction. Pulling off something from his side he slips something onto Grymash's prone body.

The drow(R1) finds himself being attacked by a hippogryph. He moves in the direction of the cleric with all haste but is unable to do much of anything else.

The human(R3) moves in on Mac with a nasty grin. He sends a fist flying in at the minotaur's belly[hit: 27 and damage: 7].*Mac has an AoA*

The minotaur(R4) moves back around the cleric and cuts off Jake from his intended victim. He is able to get off a single attack with his flail upon the man[hit: 15 and damage: none]. Still he is far enough away that Jake knows that he will have to move into his range to hit him and that will allow the large taur to smack him around first.

The half-orc(R5) sees no option and moves into Mac's range and then closer. He brings his dire flail smashing in at the taur[hit: 24 and damage: 6].*Mac has an AoA* From out of nowhere a series of little missiles slam into the half-orc, this time they hit flesh and not a shield.

From the left side of the grass comes a pair of arrows that race towards Flea where she is taking care of Ulgren[hit: 33/26 and damage: 10/7]. You can only guess that there is another raider out there hidden in the grass.

Stephen - I can only guess from your post that you never got either of the two emails that I sent to you. All of the damage that the minotaur has been doing was non-lethal and only the single hit from the half-orc was lethal. NOTE: Anyone that gets hit by the minotaur will take non-lethal damage unless I state otherwise. I was holding that card for a suspense thing and that is why I emailed Stephen seperately about it.

AoA vs R3: Hits AC:32 for 24 damage.
AoA vs R5: Hits AC:25 for 23 damage.

Have to ask: Did the human and half-orc make the additional concealment check to hit Mac? (20% miss chance due to Blur)

Gry fell down! Pity the taur when he gets there. But first, two here to deal with. With both in reach, he strikes at the human first, and if he drops then at the half-orc.

Attack 1/Attack 2/Horn Gore hit AC:31/15/28 for 22/25/8 damage.

And in the vain hope, Cleave can follow up after one of AC:23/18/17 for 20/20/12 damage.

Am I right in assuming that if I roll lower than 20% than they miss? Or did we want to say anything above an 80% on a d100 is a miss?

Tishe' feels the pull of her magics and fifty feet in front of her appears another Celestial Hippogryph. "Kill the drow!", the mage commands in Celestial.

The first Hippogryph does a Wingover, turning in midair and strikes at the drow sorcerer (AC 16/12/15) all missing. The second wings in, flanking around the Shield spell and a claw digs in with a mighty Smite, scoring the black elf for 12 points of damage.

A third time, this time calling on the power of Mother Wold, Tishe' spontaneously casts Summon Nature's Ally II instead of Cat's Grace. The weaving of magics continues.

Panting and still shaking, the well camoflaged Stripes begins stalking back to his human.

Seeing that Ulgren is back among the living, Anuk charges out of the entangled area and towards the wall of fire, when he spots the figure in the grass. Figuring it's not a packmate and so must be a raider, he fires an arrow at the figure.

Ulgren spots the three raiders standing in a semicircle and quickly raises his right finger sending a small bead toward them that lands at their feet. Things like that happen out in the Sargrass. The heat plays funny tricks on the senses. What may have looked like the death of a friend, the spray of blood, the severing of a torso ... all just an optical illusion. But that is unknown to all. All except the minotaur and centaur raiders. For what the others had just witnessed, Grymash has shed his mortal shell and gotten caught up in the torrent currents of a woldsblood river. Well on his way to see his master, Gargul. However, Grymash begins to see light return to his eyes. He starts to see a dark shadowy figure standing over him ... putting something on him. "GRRRRAAAUUGHHH!!" roars Gry, as he springs back to life, reaching for the centaurs legs.

(Grapple check, HitTouchAC: 29. Strength check: 16, to pull him down to the ground for a pin.)

The barbarian cleric does his best to wrestle the four-legged beast to the ground. If he gets his pin, he pulls a dagger from a scabbard and readies to bring it down on his victim. (You can draw a light weapon while grappling, as a move-equivalent action.)

(Also, trying to be fair with the healing, I doubt the healing magic from Gilan would differentiate between lethal and nonlethal damage. So I distributed his healing equally between both the lethal and nonlethal damage Gry has taken. So Gry is near full hitpoints, but he'll fall unconscious if he takes 2 more nonlethal points. Im continuing to research this to see if it's correct.)

One thing Jake has learned from fighting alongside Grymash is that you never get up close with the big guys. This minotaur, who has smashed Gry up, is definitely one of the big guys. Let him get one or two hits in by chasing Jake around, Jake figures it's better to do this than to slug it out with a much stronger opponent.
So, Jake just rushes right by the minotaur, letting him get another swing at him. (I think I get a +4 to my AC on this swing?)
And charges right at the drow!
(Spent a hero point to reroll that first attack of natural 1)
He moves in and almost trips on some stalks of grass. Luckily, with the grace of a rogue much like Flea, he dances out of their grip. "'scuse me", he apologizes to the minotaur, tipping his hat to him as he rushes by. Then, he comes up to the drow, who is still looking over his shoulder worriedly at the hippogriff.
He rushes right into the drow, bringing his sword in for a deep side slash and satisfyingly cuts through his protections and spells. It's not his best slash, but still quite vicious. (Power attack for 2, so I did 2 (sword) +2 (specialized) +4 (strength) +2 (PA) +1 (prayer) +1 (+1 sword) +1 (freezing damage) = 13 damage. Those little modifiers add up!)

Mac sends out a pair of blows at the two raiders that move in on him. He finds that all of thier attacks land upon his body and he hopes the blur will work better next time. Two of his attacks hit but is not enough to drop the human out of the fight.

Tishe' calls up yet another hippogryph and sends it after the drow. The first one finds that he cannot get a beak or claws in edge wise. The new one though finds that it is able to hook with a single claw. Tishe' then begins to summon up another creature.

Trellus makes it up to the side of the wall though he keeps far enough away to not feel the effects of the heat. He taps himself with the healing wand he holds as he figures to make his go the next round. The hammer slams into the centaur once again.

Anuk is out of the entangled area as he sees that Ulgren is ok now. He spots the figure in the grass and sends off an arrow at it.

Ulgren fires off a fireball at in the direction of the raiders that are all clustered together. He then moves to escape the entangled area.

Gilan uses the magic that Mother Wold gave him and brings the wall of fire back down. Ciaran is now standing beside his brother that is not that well off.

Gry finds himself on the ground and he grabs at the centaur cleric as he fights him off from slapping him in irons. He attemps to pull him down and pin him to the ground.

Flea feels the pain of biting arrows, but she is not able to spot who shot them. She rolls out of the magicked grass and comes up pointing that wand again. She fires off another series of missiles at the half-orc.

Jake sacrifices his own health to get around the big minotaur and at the drow. He tips his hat to the minotaur as he goes by and brings himself in close to the drow.

The centaur(R1) smiles down at Gry as his size gives him the advantage in this little fight. It is followed with a hoof that kicks out at Gry, though you get the feeling that it is pulled[hit: 22 and non-lethal damage: 5]. With the man in his grasp now he slaps the irons, in his hand, upon the unconscious half-orc.

The drow(R2) looks down at the sword that is in his chest and then falls foward. Those nearby can hear a sudden crack that is followed by an explosion, that throws the drows body through the air and into the grass.

The human(R3) lets fly a flurry of blows that rain down on Mac[hit: 19/21/22/24 and damage: miss/7/miss/8].

The minotaur(R4) was about to turn after Jake when the fireball went off. With a stagger step he falls to slam hard into the grass.

The half-orc just smiles as he launches as series of attacks with his dire flail. Each blow is aimed at Mac's poor body[hit: 28/21/34/24 and damage: 13/9/8/9].

Off to the side of the grass, Anuk has spotted another raider(R6). This raider pulls up his bow and fires off another flurry of arrows at Ulgren[hit: 16/14/32/34*crit28* and damage: 5/11/7/7*crit22*].

From the opposite side of the grass comes another flurry of arrow that streak at Flea[hit: 28/21/26/24 and damage: 15/3/7/5].

Jake and both hippogryphs need to make a Reflex DC 22 or take 21 points of damage or half if you save. This is from the explosion from the drow when he died.

OOC: Did the drow's spell overcome each Celestial Hippogryph Spell Resistance? (SR8)

Ending her spell, Tishe's efforts coalesce the form of a huge bat fifty feet in front of her. Since it is from Mother Wold and Tishe' doesn't speak bat, she lets the 20 foot wingspan take it to where it will.

The Dire Bat flies fifty feet to the nearest seen enemy (R3) and stoops to bite, missing. (AC17)

The first Hippogryph fails to avoid the dying magic of the drow(nat 1) and takes 15 points of damage (damage reduction). Looking for the nearest enemy, it flies to the centaur (R1) and strikes with two claws (AC 13/21) and scoring once across the raider's hindquarters (9 dam).

The second Hippogryph also is struck by the dying black elf magic (15 with dam red), and also launches an attack on the centaur (flanking +2 to hit) striking with two raking claws on his ribs (16 damage)

Tishe' once again sees her taur friend go down in battle, and she's getting tired of bullies picking on his gentle body! Raising her hands with a pinch of mica dust, she flings it into the air while pointing in between the human and half-orc. Instantly, a 10 foot radius column of brightly glittering dust surrounds them, impossible to hide, impossible to see! (Will Save DC 17 or blinded)

Stripes remains in the tall Sargrass nearby his human. Getting his nerve back, he knows her pack is in a fight. Not liking this kind of fight with fire and swallowings and flying, Stripes will stay hidden and ensure no one sneaks up on his human. Yes, that is the best course. (Hide: 21) He will hold his attack until someone he doesn't know rushes Tishe' and then will jump and bite.

[Not posting was excellent for me, as I hadn't received the map by the time I could post, and so it allowed me a chance to have an action that round. :-D]

Jake is very satisfied that the drow falls before him. One down, ...and the minotaur fell too! Four to go. But then he's caught in the blast, completely off guard, and he staggers back slightly in pain. He's nearly down, he knows, but he can't fall, not now.
What can I do? he thinks to himself. He looks to the others...
Dangit, Gry is down and Mac is down. And he's barely standing... Can't like those odds. And there's archers all over the place. Gotta take some of these guys down, but which one?
He spots the guy in the grass and figures, if there's one thing he can do well, it's engage an archer. Hopefully knocking the archer outta combat will make things a bit easier on the rest of them.
Then again, those guys are hit by Tishe's dusty spell. If they look blinded and disoriented, then Jake can get in an excellent advantage right now...

(This is one of those if's situation)
If either of the half-orc or human that are surrounding the unconscious body of Mac are blinded, then Jake rushes in to attack that one.
If not, then Jake goes after the archer in the grass that he has spotted.

(If I go after the guy in the grass, I power attack for 5, 'cause archers need to be smashed. Hit AC 18... But with my +1 from prayer I hit! Yay!!! Did 5 sword +3 freezing + 4 str + 1 magic + 1 prayer + 5 PA damage = 19 damage)
(If I go after the blinded guys, then this is SA time! I think they lose their dex mod. But they're still fighters, so I'm gonna not use Power Attack on them, but just get my sneak attack damage. And... I miss. AC 17. Gah. Well, I hope they both made their saves vs. blindness... sorta.)

Gilan [HP: 2/69 - AC: 19] Ciaran [HP: 71/80 - AC: 22]  d20+8=23 8d6(3+6+5+4+3+2+2+4)=29

Gilan shakes his head and is thankful that at least the wall is down. Pulling once again on the power given to him by Mother Wold he summons up a stike of fire from the sky but he has to pick a target first. He spots both of the men on the sides of the path and the two standing over Mac still. Without further though he calls it down so that it will slam into both the half-orc and human near Mac.

Ciaran stands near his brother to keep an eye upon him and keep him safe. He growls lightly as he does.

Flea is quick to fall into the grass's embrace and protection as the arrows thud into her. She feels the sudden safety and then applies a little healing to herself.

Ulgren fires off a pair of rays that both strike the cleric, but neither is able to drop him.

Grymash lays upon the ground, motionless and helpless. Now in manacles and chains.

Mac finds that the he cannot do anything else but submit to gravity and fall to the ground.

Tishe' spell goes off and she summon up a dire bat that flies off own it's own. The dire bat is unable to hit the target he is after. The two hippogryphs both find that they are able to get ahold on the cleric. She then sends out a flash of light towards the two raiders that just hit Mac and dropped him.

Anuk sends another barrage of arrows at the raider hidden in the grass. Only two of his arrows get through to hit the man in the grass though.

Jake takes not that one of the raiders is blinded by the spray of color as he grasps at his eyes. Still he decides to move over in the direction of the archer in the grass. He has a nice shot but finds that fighting in the grass is not easy to do as the grass helps to turn his blade away.

Gilan takes stock of the situation and calls down a pillar of fire down upon the two raiders by Mac. Ciaran stays by his side to give him protection and wait for them to move in.

The half-orc(R5) is left smoking and hurt. You see him bring something to his mouth and then he throws somethig away. He seems to be waiting for you to make the next move as he stands over Mac.

The human(R6) looks to Jake as he closes and just smiles at him as he steps out of the grass and draws a pair of weapons. He sends both of his scimitars cutting in at Jake with deadly intent[hit: 25/27/28 and damage: 7/7/5].

The elf(R7) looks upon the battle field with a sinking feeling but knows that he cannot retreat. He pulls his bow back up and fires off a series of arrows[Tishe' - hit: 31/14 and damage: 12/9][Ulgren - hit: 19/31 and damage: 7/13][Gilan - hit: 21 and damage: 10].

The brown-haired woman smiles at seeing her spell affected at least one of the two beaters that took Mac down. Her smile turns to a start of surprise as she feels a sharp pain in her side. Looking down, there is an arrow sticking out of her.

"Oh", says Tishe' matter-of-factly as she slumps to the ground unconscious and bleeding. (One hit 12 damage, 89% to stop bleeding)

Changing targets since the last one is dead, the Dire Bat attacks the half-orc (R5) and stoops to bite, missing. (AC17)

The first Hippogryph has another enemy fall to his claws and looks for the next closest one. Finding the half-orc (R5), it arrives in one beat of its wings, flanking the enemy, and striking with two claws (AC 27/15) (Dam 10/9)

The second Hippogryph follows its companion, also flanking the half-orc to tear him to pieces. Two claws strike out (AC 12/24) (Dam 7/7)

Seeing his human struck down by a flying stick, Stripes moves to stand over Tishe' protectively.

This just totally bites grass all over. Everybody is dropping around him and the cleric can't do much about it.

He can feel Tishe down, and he sends a wave of healing through the stone in his chest to stabilize her.
[send 1 hp to Tishe - standard action]

Then he directs Domi's Hammer at the half orc. [Move Action]
[Hit ac 23 for 5 hp damage]

Feeling Flea's touch, he responds instantly with a command.
"Flea!" he yells from his spot about 15' in the air. "Missile THIS dude!".
The cleric is pointing at the thrice baked half orc monk.

Grymash, Mac, Tishe', Ulgren and Gilan are all out of the combat right now in one form or another.

Jake finds that he cannot get a good shot at the human that has stepped out to face him. He suddenly wishes that he had stayed a rancher back in Rattledam as he takes a few steps backwards.

Flea hunkers in the grass and wonders if those that are down are dead or just unconscious. She does tap herself with the healing wand she has as she tries to keep quiet and hide.

Trellus finds that so many are dropping around him that he cannot even hope to keep up with it. He uses the stone in his chest to at least stabilize Tishe' as he hollers for Flea to bombard the half-orc with the dire flail. His hammer slams into the dude about that time and he can feel a little better about that.

Anuk knocks another two arrows and sends them streaming at the half-orc. He seems to be the biggest threat right now and the other one that he can see is in melee with Jake.

Ciaran sees noone in the grass so he changes direction and instead comes in at the back of the man that is attacking Jake.

The half-orc raider(R5) finds himself being assaulted from all side and he cannot take it anymore. Even with the healing potion he drank he cannot stay standing and he collapses to the ground as one of Anuk's arrows slams into him.

The human raider(R6) advances on Jake with a single-minded purpose. You can tell that he pulls all his attacks as to stun you[hit: 28/18/25 and damage: 6/4/3].

The elf raider(R7) on the other side that noone has seen yet takes a quick look at the situation and is soon moving through the grass.

Now Gilan's down. Trellus sees the other Raider weaving away, but truly doesn't care. It means there is only one treadle left to deal with.

And the best available person to do that is Jake.

In a few quick strides, the cleric drops down behind his half elf packmate, and taps him with the healing wand.
[CCW - heals 26 hp]

"Flea! Help Gilan!" he calls out, unaware that the gnome has already made a different move.

From beneath his mithril hood, Trellus' blue eyes lock onto those of the last raider. The dude is toast. Trellus really, really hopes he knows it.

The Dire Bat shrieks in annoyance that it has yet to taste the enemy. It doesn't see the retreating raider(Spot: nat 1), and so flies to the last one alive (R6) and plunges to bite, sinking fangs in flesh. (AC 26, Dam 12)

Last man in the grass. (DM Jim)  d20+18=30
Wednesday February 22nd, 2006 12:41:46 AM

Everyone sighs a great bit of relief, well those that are still standing and not dying, as the last raider pitches forward.

The raider lands first on one knee as he drives his right sword into the ground to hold himself up. With a look of horror on his face he looks up at Jake, but then it settles into peace as he falls at the Jake's feet. His one scimitar is still stuck in the ground but the other lays beside him.

The last bandit has eluded the hippogryph that is chasing him. Though if you could talk to the beast it would let you know that he kept going away from the group.

No problem Mike, glad to be of help to a player when it counts.

"Oh, Gilan," she whimpers as she wipes a long strand of dark hair from the man's pale face. "Domi guide me," she prays as she activates the wand in her left hand (UMD=27). A blue glow from the wooden stick tells her she has been successful. (8 HP restored to Gilan)

He looks around and sees the bodies of his friends lying about as Trellus continues his ministrations to the pack. When Trellus passes the body of Ulgren without healing him, Anuk realizes what has happened. Kneeling over the drow's still form, Anuk quietly says, "I...I'm sorry, my friend."

(I mentioned in a previous post that I was looking up how magical healing heals someone with both normal damage and nonlethal damage, this is what I found. Players Handbook, pg 146, Under the heading: Healing Nonlethal Damage: "When a spell or magical power cures hit point damage, it also removes an equal amount of nonlethal damage." So that solves it for anyone that might be confused about it, like myself. :)

Grymash snaps out of his slumber in time to see Trellus dart off to his next patient. His head looks around wildly and sees many others also lying about the field of battle. He notices the chains latched to his neck, hands and feet for the first time. Before he has a chance to inspect them, his hands are slapped away by Flea crouched down next to him. Gry looks up at her with eyes saturated in sorrow. "Sorry Flea ... sorry Gry gots all da Bloodpack dead! Gry sorry dat Flea be dead too! See wit eyes, Gargul put Gry in chains!"

With trepidation Flea abandons Gilan to Trellus' ministrations as she makes her way to the bound half-orc. A glance over her shoulder confirms the druid is likely in better hands then hers.

Dropping her pack on the ground, Flea shoves her wands back into her belt. The rogue fishes for her special tools, and selects a slender metal object before going to work on the manacles binding her pal's ankles. "Easy big guy," she croons to the distraught worshipper of Gargul, "I don't think you're done doin' his work on the Plains yet." (Open Lock=24, 17, miss, try again 28) Flea works up to the collar around Gry's neck. While working on the lock, (Open Lock=25) she feels a tickle on her hand, and spys a critter crawling back into its hiding place in the barbarian's hair. "Geez, Gry!" You've gotta see Trellus or Gilan 'bout those creepers!"

Finally the rogue starts on the dark metal bands around her pack-mates wrists. (Open Lock=10, 27) Mumbling to herself as much as to her prone friend, she continues, "some folks have started their voyage to the Shadowlands Gry, mostly them that works for the barons, but one of our'n, too, Gry. One of our'n."

Flea stands, holding the black metal rods and chains used to bind captured slaves, then lets them drop at her feet as her gaze turns to the crumpled form of Ulgren and the distraught ranger hunched over him.

Gargul gives him a salute as he turns and walks away. As he opens his eyes he sees Trellus over him and gives a weak smile. "Did we win?" He sets up just a little and then cradles his head in his right hand. It feels like someone is pounding it with a large hammer and he notices the arrow that lays near him. "How bad?" That is all he is able to get out as he coughs a little congealed blood and then spits it out.

Ciaran cocks his leg and completely soaks the back of the one raider with urine. As he turns to go back to his brother he kicks a little dirt on him.

Jake
Thursday February 23rd, 2006 1:43:11 AM

"Poor Ulgren..." Jake sighs, looking at the dead dead drow. He crouches next to his fallen comrade and looks at him, realizing he never did get the chance to talk much ot the dark elf. Not much to talk about, he guesses... Well, the lanky fighter thinks to himself, ah coulda asked him about wizard pick up lines, but that mighta not gone too well. 'Hey baby, check out my wand...' or 'I've got a spell that detects sexy and you're practically glowing!'...
Maybe he coulda asked him about elven stuff. Jake's always been confused about that part of his heritage, especially since the whole elven god coming back thing. All the destruction since has made him wonder if that elven side is to blame for a lot of this. Then again, as a dark elf, how could he give Jake any advice on that?
Jake sighs and turns his attention elsewhere.
Jake can't help but feel that Gry is to blame too, and he looks over to the dumb half-orc to see him looking mourning. Scratching his head, the half-elf goes over to Trellus, the group's mediator. He says quietly to him, so that Gry can't hear, "Y'all think ya should try tellin' Gry not to charge into battle, or want me to? Ah'm thinkin' he knows he did somthing wrong but needs some direction for next time. Ya know... he never is too concerned about group tactics."

Tishe' (AC 17 31/53) and Stripes (AC 16 17/31)
Thursday February 23rd, 2006 5:28:30 AM

Trellus has a little bit of a problem approaching Tishe' as the girl's ugly dog is growling and standing guard. After some assurances from the cleric, Stripes reluctantly gives back a pace and allows the blonde human to come near.

On the first healing spell, the arrow is expelled, and Tishe' blinks herself into awareness. At the second, she sits up. "Oh, that is so much better! Shady picks, Trellus!"

Giving reassureances to Stripes and the others, she moves to the still form of Ulgren. "We need to preserve his body until we are able to find a way to restore him", she states with finality. "If there is magic that was able to restore Mac in the hills after the trolls, there should be some on the Plains to help."

Having her, Gilan, and Mac separated from the others because of being swallowed by the ranthom makes Tishe' feel guilty that she wasn't with the Pack when the fight started. She tries to focus on Ulgren and lays him out to make him presentable to help and take her mind off her failure.

Trellus (Ac 23, 55/67 hp, -1 STR)  d4=4 d4=4
Thursday February 23rd, 2006 11:55:46 AM

Trellus claps Gilan twice softly on his shoulder. His words are confident, but his tone his subdued,
"We always win, Gil," he says quietly, looking at Anuk over Ulgren's body. "We always win."

Jake poses his question, and the cleric responds quietly again. "I'll say something," he says doubtfully. "But, c'mon dude. It's Gry. Try telling the Grass not to grow. The rest of us gotta be ready for it."

Rising, Trellus casts a couple more spells on himself (Lesser Restoration 4 and 4 STR points back). They almost serve to recover the strength he sent Tishe when the ranthom came through. Close enough anyway.

While he's at it, he casts DETECT MAGIC on the collected equipment and treasure.

He comes to stand over Ulgren. Tishe's conviction rings in his ears. "Truly," he agrees. "We're done losing packmates. Let's wrap him in something and bring him along. I can cast a preservation spell on him in the morning, and we'll find a way to visit Lord Gargul again."

Moving on and the loss. (DM Jim)
Thursday February 23rd, 2006 3:43:13 PM

The group gather themselves together and mourn the loss of Ulgren in their own way. Tishe' is the first to suggest bringing him back as soon as the get the chance. Trellus lets the group know that he will be able to cast a spell on the body in the morning, till then they will need to wrap the body for travel.

Flea has Gry out of the manacles with minimal trouble but she is still at a loss about thier newest drow companion...Ulgren.

Trellus does take the time to have a look to see if any of the stuff they pulled off the raiders is magical. His spell shows many glowing items in the stuff...but it is getting late and the bodies may soon draw attention.

TreasureItems in bold are magical.
5 sets of manacles
large heavy flail
dire flail
longbow
2 scimitars
large warhammer
quarterstaff
2 rings
pair of boots
2 amulets
14 sheets of paper
10 vials

6 gems
60 platinum pieces

I will give specifics on what auras you get from each item with my next post or maybe I will update this one with that information. Have to look this information up in the DMG.

Mac
Thursday February 23rd, 2006 4:52:00 PM

Mac gets to his feet and joins the gathering. Only then does the realisation hit him.

And only when the move is made to wrap Ulgren up as protection against the bugs we're likely to run into tonight does the taur finally speak, saying: "I'll carry him... I've done it before."

Grymash
Friday February 24th, 2006 12:59:29 AM

Grymash sits up after being set free. He doesnt say a word. Removing his helmet reveals signs of torment etched in the lines of his face. After pulling off his gauntlets and dropping them to the ground, he simply buries his face in his large calloused hands. Open Eyes, holy symbols to Gargulians, tattooed on the back of each hand gives him an erie facade of staring straight ahead. Where are the voices ... where is his god? He searches his soul, alone in the darkness.

Friday February 24th, 2006 4:28:40 AM

A few words and gestures, and Tishe' casts Mending, sewing up Ulgren's body in his own cloak for ease of transport. For having so many spells at her fingertips, she has very little to help preserve or carry the body.

The brown-haired woman lays a fond hand on Mac's forearm as her large friend readies to carry Ulgren. Her brown eyes are brimming with unshed tears as well as a determination to restore thier newest friend who gave so much to the group. "He gave his life for the Pack and the Sargrass. When we get him back from Gargul and back to Rattledam, he needs to be part of the Second Circle." Tishe' doesn't contemplate any possiblity of not getting the dark elf back.

Standing, Tishe' drinks a CMW potion, sharing the spell with Stripes to get more healthy (14 hp), but now it is time to move. She has no interest in the loot found, surely someone will take control of that stuff. Sadly, she shoulders her belongings and looks to see where Trellus will lead.

The short girl is surprised to find Grymash still sitting in the grass. He is obviously not too hurt, or Trellus would be there. Curiosity is piqued, and Tishe' moves to where the half-orc sits, unblinking eyes staring from his hands. "Grymash? Sweetie? Do you need help?"

Friday February 24th, 2006 11:16:49 AM

While watching Tishe' and Mac work to protect Ulgren's body, Anuk says, "Well...first thing to do is to make camp for the night, but then what? Do we continue on to where the Manfri said we're needed or try to find our way home?"

After a few moments' silence, he continues, "I suppose we should continue on...seems we're as likely to find our way to Lord Gargul out here as anywhere. Last time, we were out in the middle of nowhere and we were shown a way. Could happen again, I guess."

Gilan [HP: 44/69 - AC: 19] Ciaran [HP: 71/80 - AC: 22]
Friday February 24th, 2006 9:23:29 PM

Gilan stands slowly as Trell speaks. He then notices Ulgren's body and turns just in time as his stomache empties onto the grass. With a sad look he shakes his head and stands back up. "We won...but Ulgren paid the price." His voice is almost a whisper as he looks to Ciaran who comes trotting back over.

"I don't think we should stay here." With a look to the others he once again shakes his head and says a prayer to Mother Wold. "Wold Mother...please let us get through this...let us get Ulgren back as he is still needed." He looks around and will let others take care of what was found on the bodies. Maybe some of it will help in getting Ulgren back, when they reach that village.

Travel and the Long Rest. (DM Jim)
Saturday February 25th, 2006 1:03:37 AM

As the group pull themselves together, the plan out what they are going to do. The first is to get to this village and then see if they can get help for Ulgren there. First they know that they will need to stop soon and get some rest.

Moving along the group comes across an area that would make a suitable area for a camp. It appears that the ranthom has already been through here as the grass has been eaten down. Despite the fact that noone feels that they will be able to move much further.

Those that remember the general distance to this village on the sea knows that it is still maybe half a day off from your current camp. A somber mood has settled over the pack as they break down to camp.

Will need a general idea of watches.

Trellus looks on at the exchange between Mac and Tishe. Upon reflection, the man wonders if the taur is twisted about more than just this battle and Ulgren's death.

And Grymash is hurting too. The cleric nods to himself. The pack's wounds go beyond physical. He starts with the half orc. Trellus moves beside Grymash, standing and waiting patiently to be noticed. He does not touch the barbarian. Trellus' nose is slightly bent to the left. It healed that way - a distinct reminder of the first (and only) time the man inadverantly surprised the half-orc.

"Dude," he says finally, softly. "You're shady. We'll all stand in front of Lord Gargul in our time. You 'n me still got more picks to weave on this side is all."

The pack moves to its camping spot, and Trellus casts some more healing spells.
Grymash - 30 hp [CCW over Freedom of Movement]
Mac - 21 hp [CCW over Spell Immunity]
Gilan - 33 hp [CCW over Summon Monster IV]
Tishe - 9 hp [CLW over Endure Elements]
Anuk - 11 hp [CLW over Endure Elements]
Trellus - 13 hp [CLW over Endure Elements]

"Let's go with me and Mac, Gry and Flea, Anuk and Tishe, and Gilan and Jake for watches" he suggests.
"Flea, when you get a chance, can you look at these gems?"

Trellus casts READ MAGIC on himself, and looks over the scrolls.

He also looks over the potions
[Spellcraft 16, 21, 13, 26, 15, 19, 21, 25, 20, 18, 12], before passing over those he can't identify to Tishe.

During his watch, the cleric waits for a decent moment to open up with Mac.
"What's twisting you, dude?" he asks in a concerned tone.

Gilan trudges along with the others, remaining rather quiet as he does. He cannot help but think about the loss of Ulgren and how he was partially to blame. He had went to help out his brother when he needed him and left his pack to fend for themselves. Tears come unbidden from him as he tries to come to terms with his role with the Bloodpack.

Later that night he eats in silence as well. He moves off to the side of the camp, just at the edge of the light. Ciaran is laying by his side, pressed up against him. He absently rubs his brother's head as he relaxes and lets the shoulda, woulda and couldas' ramble through his head. "I am lost Mother Wold...what am I doing...how do I keep both of my paths connected." None may hear him as he whispers this but most will know that he is a little more reserved than normal.

His watch with Jake that night is filled with him just sitting and staring out into the grass. He does not talk unless asked a question and then keeps even that short. Ciaran is by his side trying to comfort his brother, not sure what is exactly wrong.

Mac
Saturday February 25th, 2006 6:43:34 PM

"Twisted? Aye!"
He looks over the sleeping Pack, thinking they should all remain asleep.
"I don't know much about the ways of the Plains, dragons, vampires and the like. I don't know a whole lot about magic, 'cept as it applies to weapons thanks to the family business. I believe myself to be a loyal follower of Domi, but I don't relate to him on the same level as you." Mac pauses for breathe and too reorganise his rambling train of thoughts.
"We are Pack, and I will risk my thread to save others, but I don't think all this makes me stupid."

Tishe' and Stripes (both fully healed)
Sunday February 26th, 2006 3:03:02 AM

Grymash doesn't seem to need or want the small woman, and Tishe' knows enough that sometimes people want time alone. With the approach of Trellus, she thinks, maybe it is time with long-time friends, longer than herself.

The rest of the day is passed in quiet with Stripes at her side. Looking around, the others are quiet too. Maybe they all feel the closeness of capture, the death of Ulgren, the guilt of not being able to do more. Alone with her thoughts, Tishe' doesn't really know.

At camp, Tishe' announces that she will learn as many Identify spells as she can in the morning to help with the magical items. She helps Anuk with making the shelters that they hae done before, and also vows to memorize an arcane read magic to check any arcane scrolls that Trellus may find.

That night, alone with Anuk, they both seem to be in a quiet mood. Well, Tishe' thinks, I am anyway. Anuk seems to always be in a quiet mood.

"I wonder how we can have some plans that we do if we are surprised like that again", she opens the conversation bluntly. "If we have time to plan, Trellus or Gilan come up with some good picks, but when we don't have time, we weave on our own, and it hurts the Pack."

"I'll bet even holding back for a couple of seconds to set a defense and some spells, the Pack could have done much better."

Flea  d20+9=21 d20+5=23 d20+9=12 d20+11=30 d20-1=9
Sunday February 26th, 2006 10:35:30 AM

Flea is sad that the cool drow guy is dead, and she wonders if getting him back will be as easy...or as hard...as when they got Mac back. The gnome isn't too keen at the idea of standing in front of the god of life and death again, and having him look into her soul.

When Trellus asks her to check out the gems, she gives them the once over (Appraise=21) to get an idea of their value. The rogue will inform the leader of the Bloodpack what she learns. Tugging the edge of his cleric's robes, Flea will try to get his attention. "Um, Trellus? You think maybe we can pray to Domi 'bout Ulgren? You think maybe Domi can...like...give him back to us?"

Flea doesn't like how some of the group are kind of upset and closing off their emotions and going off by themselves. There is just too much thinking going on. She really likes Mac, but when he is in a mood he is kind of scary...and Gry is just plain dangerous. Tears well up in her eyes when she spots Gilan alone with his wolf at the periphery of the clearing. She wishes Bohdi were there. He would know what to do. He would put his arms around her and that would make everything better.

Suck it up, Flea! Pull yourself together!

Flea trails after Trellus and does as he bids. She sings sadly (Perform=23)in a thin soprano:

You are not bound to loss and to silence
For you are not bound to the circles of this Wold.
All things must pass away
All life is doomed to fade...
Sorrowing you must go, and yet you are not without hope.

During their watch, she just sits close to Gry, collecting warmth from his big body. If the big guy wants to talk, Flea will listen, and wisely (Wisdom Check=9) keeps her mouth shut. (Rolls for watch, Spot=12, Listen=30)

Grymash  d20+9=17 d20+9=18 d20=3
Monday February 27th, 2006 12:36:35 AM

Later that evening, after a full day of travel and quiet contemplation, he walks up to Tishe and puts a hand on her shoulder. In a low, almost whispered voice he explains, "Sorry Gry not says anythings back theres. Gry be prayin' ta Gargul. An Gry no feel gute also. Gry shamed to speak then, but Gry knows now whut Gry must do."

A little later, he answers Trellus in the same low whisper, "Gry understand. Gry think Trellus be shady too. Gry got things figured out. Gargul will bless da Bloodpack again. Gry knows it!"

When they start to make camp, Grymash does his best to help the pack find a suitable spot. (Survival 17). He then takes out his bow and announces to who ever will hear it, "Gry goin' ta hunt uh little. Will be back befores supper." He steps off into the grass and goes a little way. Making sure he's taken the precautions to find his way back. Leaving markings here and there. When he gets to a spot where he feels is a proper distance from camp, he drops down to his knees. He begins to pray once more. Blessing everything and everyone that Gargul has given him. He begs for forgiveness. Its not until this point when tears begin to drop from his eyes. The first time for that to happen since he can remember. When his prayer is done. He mutters to himself. Gry knows whut must be done. Gry must pay for bein' bad. He removes the breastplate section of his armor and sets it to the side. He then opens his backpack and retrieves a 3-ft long strap of leather that he's tied his tooth collection to. He originally thought it would be a shady necklace when finished, but he has realized a new purpose for the item. Maybe its what Gargul had planned for him all along. The necklace was an object of pride. Little trophies of past battles, victories in his name. A pride that he feels has put his friends in danger. Today he was bested, by the first combatant he faced no less. Now all his victories were meaningless to him. It's time all those he had defeated to take back the pride they had given him. Grymash was not deserving. They should be the last to draw blood. Da last ta draw blood be da victor. An Gry no want no more. Gry no earn dat right no mores.

Grymash takes a deep breath and sudden whips the leather strap, laced with teeth, over his shoulder and across his back. The pain startles him at first. He wasnt expecting to hurt so much. But then he thought, more da better! Again, and again, Grymash whips the toothy strap across his back. Each slash digs a little deeper into his flesh. The pain is exquisite. He begins to grunt with each strike. One after the other. In his mind he screams, there yooz go. take it, take it! taste gry blood. it be yoorz! He can hear their growls and screaches. He can hear their laughter and their cheers. He only waits now for Gargul to tell him to stop. That he is forgiven. The minutes go by and Grymash continues to flog himself. One after the other. He no longer tries to keep count. He collapses before he ever hears his god. He just lays there in the grass with his back torn and bleeding.

The half-orc soon wakes up to the stings of a few creepers and from someone singing in the distance. The sun is almost gone now. So he agonizingly puts back on his breastplate. He was glad that it hurt. It helped dull all the other pain he felt. He then turns to follow the singing. Luckily, the song led him back to camp!

After arriving back to camp, Grymash tried not to let on to what he had done to himself. "Sorry, Gry no find no piggies dis time." (Bluff 3). He just sits down for the night and tries not to flinch too much from the cuts on his back.

Tishe' (2nd Post)
Monday February 27th, 2006 11:16:49 AM

The vibrant brown eyes look up at the half-orc with warmth. No words, no heart-touch is necessary. Tishe' lays her hand over Grymash's larger one and gives a short squeeze. "Packmates", she says. And, to the slightly round woman, that says it all.

Anuk  d20+14=25 d20+12=19 d20+12=17
Monday February 27th, 2006 11:44:10 AM

Anuk does what he can to help find a campsite and food for the pack (survival 25), but his mood is sour. While foraging, he hears strange grunting sounds (listen 17) and investigates, only to discover Gry hidden in the grasses and flailing himself. (spot 19)

It's not you Gry...it's all of us...we are not weft and web as we ought to be when battles come, Anuk thinks. He knows better than to disturb the half-orc, but his heart aches at the pain his friend...all of his friends...are each bearing alone. Doing the only useful thing he can think of, he sends out a small heart touch of comfort to all the packmates who can receive it, then recedes quietly into the grasses to leave Gry undisturbed.

That night, with the pack on his mind, Anuk sits quietly through his watch with Tishe'. He's taken a little by surprise by her sudden question, but then realizes it's him that's been silent all night. He looks at her and breaks out a big grin, which looks extra-large given his dirty face and halo of matted, curly hair. "I'm sorry 'bout being so quiet tonight, Tishe'," he says. "Sounds like you've been thinking 'bout the same stuff I have. I think we all have. As soon as something surprises us we seem to be all about 'kill first ask questions later'. Me especially. I dunno...maybe there's some kind of shield spell that could give us a moment or two to get plans ready? Maybe we just start walkin' everywhere in some kind of formation? When I was in the militia before I came to the Rattledam we had to do that all the time...kinda hated it, though," he says, chuckling to himself at the memory. For the next while he becomes animated as he trades ideas and stories with the plain girl, and it feels like maybe, just maybe, a little of the weight on him is lifted.

A loss of thought and reason. (DM Jim)
Monday February 27th, 2006 8:56:32 PM

All of the pack fall into thier own little musings over the fall of thier packmate, Ulgren. Camp is quickly set and supper made for those that hang around or for when they come back.

Gry is the first to leave and though he makes it a hunting trip...the only thing he plans on hunting is himself and faith. As he lays into himself with his own trophies he feels the warmth of not just his own blood and the pain that washes over him...but also another warmth. It is kind but yet stern as he atones for what he feels is a mistake on his part in the battle. It is clear to Gry that his god is happy with his thoughts and the devotion that he is showing. To change ones thoughts and actions for future battles is a sign of his devotion to Gargul.

The night is uneventful for all those that stand watch. Some talk and come to conclusion that they will just need to do better in the future and that this time around they had no time to plan. The though of facing Gargul once again fills you with dread but also with a sense of purpose as you know that you owe this much to Ulgren at least.

The morning dawns with the hum of insects and the light touching the grass. For some reason this morning seems to be full of promise for all of you. You feel that you were touched in some way last night by some force that eased your fears and pain. Something is going to turn out right and you can feel in down to your toes.

~MikeK - Let me know if you are going to be taking over the rest of this module during my vacation in March? I will send you the additions for the module that you will need to take care of a few little items. I am also waiting for the approval of the next module that you will be needing at least a small piece of.~

Jake
Tuesday February 28th, 2006 1:58:21 AM

If anyone's his usual self, it's the half-elf. Can't win every battle, he thinks to himself. And this wasn't even a loss, so much as attrition. At least, that's the way it is logically. And illogically, the loss of a packmate may be tough, but Jake knows how to get through it. With humor and good-natured tricks.
Take breakfast, for example. Innocent little noodl-ish grassies, boiled. But when one bites into the red grass, one receives a BIG surprise.
Yes, it's the famed 'Woo-HAH!' grass-dish, as Jake calls it. Or soon to be famous, as soon as Jake tests it out.
How else can you cool your mouth but with some water? But amazingly, water does not kill these grasses, only spreads the heat of their spicy-taste to the other buds, who soon scream in pain as well.
And it's even worse, because this is not water he is serving with the meal, but it is spiced cider! It is deceptively clear, though, so unwary (or overeager) consumers may be caught by surprise.
By now, it becomes apparent that something must kill the taste, and so you might reach for the last item on the plate; the bread. Innocuous, plain-grown bread. But, it has been cunningly sprinkled and roasted with hot peppers as well!

Jake also tries a few other tricks, things he hasn't used in a while. Switching people's items, so that Anuk's pants are in Tishe's pack and so on. Adding glass grass to some of the packmate's waterskins secretly. Putting sleepy crawlers in people's socks. Handwritten notes attached to people's backs asking for various forms of physical abuse. A very ribaldy song, sang a bit too loud as they walk along, involving a very evil girl named Rikketytikkety Tin. And so on.

Tishe'
Tuesday February 28th, 2006 4:15:50 AM

The talk with Anuk last night felt good, Tishe' decides, as she awakens for a new day. Just knowing that Anuk was thinking the same thing makes her heart lighter as she meditates with Mother Wold, her spellbook on her lap.

Communing with nature, Tishe' claims a mug of the clear cider which, while spicy, helps to clear her thoughts. And piques her hunger, so she is ready to eat the good smelling cooking of Jake. "Grass noodles, and so colorful too!" Munch, munch, mu--- "Hot, Hot!, HOT!!!"

Her mouth feels like the island that blew its top and any minute Tishe' wouldn't be surprised to see lava come out of her mouth. Keeping whatever wits she still has about her, the plain-looking girl knows that the cider won't help, and so drinks greedily from her waterskin.

Unfortuneately, the fire in her mouth makes Tishe' unaware that her 'skin is filled with glass-grass squeezins. All too soon, the spellweaver is flat on her back, Plains spinning so she can't stand up, panting and sweating.

It took six raiders to take Tishe' out of the fight yesterday. This morning, it takes one Jake.

Stripes noses his human and whines, having no idea why she looks so ill.

Anuk  d20+12=24
Tuesday February 28th, 2006 10:32:51 AM

Anuk wakes, feeling a little lighter. The sun is still low on the horizon and so is not boiling yet. The morning air makes him grin, though he's not entirely sure why. Maybe it's just not having been attacked for over eight hours? He sits quietly for a while, thinking and meditating (prepares entangle and magic fang).

When he's good and ready he gets up in the low light and begins to dress for the day. But...something's wrong. He twists and turns, but things are just not fitting right. Straining, he manages to close the button at his waist. This is so odd. Concerned about what it might mean, he finds Flea, knowing he can trust her with something so delicate. Looking about to make sure know one else can hear (spot 24), he turns himself halfway 'round and asks, "Flea...do these pants make me look fat?"

Gilan and Ciaran
Tuesday February 28th, 2006 12:57:10 PM

Gilan is up early in the morning as usual. He slips off to and sits as he goes through his morning prayers and song to Mother Wold. Ciaran is in his usual place with his brother singing along.

Through his time spent thinking over the battle he has come to many conclusions, the least of which is that noone was to blame. The Plains and fate had played against them in that last one and it could have turned out a lot worse.

Once back at camp he gets a pair of plates of the noodles that Jake has fixes up. He has his spoon almost to his mouth when he notices that Ciaran is not eating but whines at his plate. With a knowing look to Jake he pulls out some of his dried meat and gives some to Ciaran as he takes a bite of the noodles. They are pleasant at first with a fire that sneaks up on you with a lot of heat.

At least he does not have to worry about his water as that is something that he does not let out of his sight. He drains a big mouthful that he uses to wash the heat away. "Jake?" That simple statment is enough to let the man know that he had better be a looking for some kind of payback in the future.

Trellus  d20+5=15
Tuesday February 28th, 2006 9:33:50 PM

Trellus remains silent for a few moments, considering Mac's words. The taur has obviously been harboring some slight, but the man can't recall any. He takes the cautious approach. Taking pains to avoid the Plains slang that might reinforce Mac's possible annoyance with the long time pack members, he replies, "I don't think anyone thinks your stupid, Mac. Light, when we were up north there, you were the only one who knew what a cow was. You do kinda keep to yourself most of the time, so its hard to know what you're thinking. But if we've left you out...if I've left you out, I'm sorry. Just let me know what you need. I'll help."

In the morning, Gry returns with his totally twisted story about not finding food.
[Sense Motive 15]
Sensing the half orc wants his privacy, Trellus says nothing. But he does give Gry a raised eyebrow, just to let him know that HE knows the dude ain't playing straight.

Unfortunately, all this paying attention to Grymash and Mac means very little attention is paid to what Jake is doing to his breakfast.
The piggie is bad enough - "Aw...DUDE!"
But then he reaches for the water - <gasp> Light!
And the bread....."Jake, you thrice baked Baronspawn!"

It's only after devouring an entire meal of very bland standard rations that the young man can feel his tongue at all.

Trellus spends the early part of their march to the village planning his revenge.

A coastal village. (DM Jim)
Tuesday February 28th, 2006 11:07:49 PM

The pack moves through the grass as most plan a revenge on Jake, who is use to this as his antics always get him into trouble. Suddenly the grass breaks and you can see nothing but flat rolling grass for as far as the eye can see. It feels strange to be this open as you continue to look out of this barren area.

Walking is a lot easier though as there is not tall grass to pull at you and block your view. About lunchtime you stop for a rest when some catch a strange scent upon the air*Int DC 8 to smell water and Int DC 10 to tell that there is a salty presence to it*.

With a little step you all head out after a filling lunch, that Jake does not have a hand in. As you top a small rise in the land you look down upon a small coastal village and beyond that...water and more water. You can also see a lot of activity in the village but not what it is.

MikeK - Will post till Friday and then you can take over Monday if that is ok? I am also going to get Jerry to make an appearance to play Gargul for the resurrection of Ulgren. Sound good to you?

Please, everyone add 1200 XP to your sheets and only send updated ones to me if this make you level up.

Grymash  d20+12=30
Wednesday March 1st, 2006 12:56:17 AM

Grymash's mood is somewhat more at peace. For the first time in a while, he feels that Gargul is with him. After trying Jake's cuisine, his ears perk up a little more! (Fort 30) "Hmmm ... dis gute!? Hmmm, dis ready shady," says a ravenous half-orc!! He looks over at the others. "Uhh, yooz gonna eat dat?" Grymash cant help himself from sampling his other packmate's bowls. Especially if no one is willing to fight off his oncoming spoon.

The next day. Grymash looks out over the seaside village. He seems bewildered by it being here. "Any of yooz knows whut dis place be?"

Anuk  d20+1=4 d20+1=4 d20+12=13 d20+12=18
Wednesday March 1st, 2006 10:37:01 AM

The wide expanse of low grass interests Anuk, and he spends so much time observing how it changes in the breeze that he doesn't even notice the ocean until they are nearly upon it (Int 4). When he does see it, he breathes the salty air deeply and is reminded of the pack's journey with Shady and Grandma. He smiles as he recalls the grand feeling of flight he'll always associate with this smell.

While he observes the village during their approach., his thoughts are elsewhere (spot 13 - nat 1, Listen 18). "Anyone else remember sailing over the oceans? Light, but I miss that feeling sometimes."

Tishe' and Stripes  d20+4=12
Wednesday March 1st, 2006 11:40:55 AM

Nursing a hangover and a burning mouth, Tishe' casts dagger glares at Jake whenever he is in her sight. She thinks about the time that she stuck Jake to the wall of the Druidwood ship and smiles, thinking of how she's going to get back at the smiling elf.

Stripes yips a question, and Tishe' sniffs the air. "It smells like the big water that Grand Maw and Shadee flew us over. I wonder if we're near the village with ash and tree problems?"

The brown eyes turn somber with Tishe's quick turns of temper, and says quieter, "I wonder if they have anything to help us get to Gargul and ransom Ulgren."

Mac  d20+2=22 d20+2=14 d20+5=14 d20+1=14
Wednesday March 1st, 2006 4:06:16 PM

Mac smiles a little and continues his conversation with Trellus. "We have to keep each other better informed about what we are getting into - like the Kall'A'Tek. As a pack we also need to know how we best contribute to a situation - combat in particular, but not only."

"And people should be learning something from the Dragon's Tears: The life of everyone in the pack is precious. We shouldn't leave a packmate where their life is at risk, and we shouldn't risk our own without out a plan and back-up to keep our threads from getting too frayed. These Tears mean a whole Wold of hurt for those left left behind by those that die. That said, we should extent the same courtesy to all that travel with us, Tear or no."

...in the morning...
Mac is cudding the last of his trail rations for Galea when Jake's breakfast surprise goes off. He shoots him a look with one raised eyebrow, but then raises a smile - maybe that is what some of us need.

He walks with Galea on his shoulder. She gets a good grip on the woven armour with her claws and wanders from one side to another saying hello to anyone walking nearby. The taur's nose picks up early on the scent of water or the slightly raised humidity. "Is there a salt water lake in the plains?" he asks, well prior to finding the village and shoreline.

Looking over the village, he tries to gauge the reason for the hubbub. [Spot: 14, Listen: 14]

Absentmidedly replying to Tishe, Mac says, "Maybe, but not the same one - we'd have seen the tree dam by now."

OOC: Mac falls 60XP short of leveling up.

Gilan comes to the top of the hill and looks down upon the village. He takes a deep breathe and can smell the water, a large amount of it at that. He notices the movement in the village as well and then looks to the others. "Shall we go down?" He takes a few steps down the side of the hill and towards the village though it is still some distance off.

Ciaran does not seem to be bothered by anything as he too starts down the hill with his brother. Though he does stop to look back at the others with that lop-sided smile of his.

Trellus
Wednesday March 1st, 2006 9:34:49 PM

As Mac speaks, Trellus frowns. The taur is going somewhere, but the cleric still isn't sure exactly where.
"Well, I agree we're not talking or planning real well right now. But the Kall'a'tek was unexpected, and that vampire and the ranthom came out of nowhere, and we didn't see the raiders till I had a crossbow bolt in my back. We keep running into stuff with no time to discuss or prepare."
The man sighs.
"And if you talking about Gry taking off, I'd say we all know about that, including him. Its been a bad week, truly."

In the morning, Trellus learns a spell to preserve Ulgren. He uses his rod to extend the duration to two days [Gentle Repose]

He also casts protective spells on his shield and armor, also extended.

At the sight of the village, he nods vigorously. "Shady, maybe we can get some help. Or at least figure out where we are. Everyone keep warped down so they don't mistake us for raiders or baron's men."

Trellus moves to the front of the group, making sure his various symbols of Domi are very visible.

Jake  d20+2=17 d20+2=21
Wednesday March 1st, 2006 10:05:51 PM

"Oh, shade! It's one of those Big Waters, like we saw on the dragons!" Jake excitedly says. He almost wants to run towards it, but...that'd be stupid. "I bet it has boats...not grass boats but those other boats, the ones that are made to float on water!"

Flea  d20+3=14
Wednesday March 1st, 2006 11:37:08 PM

Flea sniffs the air, and recognizes the salty tang as signifying that the pack is close to a great body of water, likely an ocean. (Int=14)

"There are often communities along the shores of such great bodies of water," she volunteers. Her observation is soon confirmed when they crest the hill and spot the small coastal village.

The Village. (DM Jim)
Thursday March 2nd, 2006 12:22:47 AM

With a slow pace the group makes their way down to the village on the coast. As they get closer the scent of water and salt becomes stronger to those that are unaccustom to so much water.

As you get closer you notice that the people you saw moving are actually villager, with a few militia mixed in, with strange looking three tonged weapons in thier hands. The do not seem to take a lot of notice of the group as it moves closer and then to the boundary of the village. Some look but they do not seem to see you as a threat.

In the distance, about thirty feet into the village and nearer the water, you notice about three to four houses that have been literally torn to pieces. A larger building near the center has a sign hanging from it that shows a overflowing mug upon it. The rest is pretty much grass houses with a few places mixed in that are most likley trade shops...blacksmith, net making and repair, boatmakers and the like.

As you stand taking all of this in, a pair of what appear to be young militia men start to pass by you. They only give you a moments glance though the one does point to the Domi symbol worn by Trellus and the Gargul eye on Grymash.

Anuk  d20=20 d20+12=25 d20+12=21
Thursday March 2nd, 2006 10:47:23 AM

Anuk enters the town with the pack, a broad smile on his face in what he hopes will seem a friendly manner. (diplomacy 20 - nat 20!) Despite all the armor, weapons, and adventuring gear, he doesn't want to seem any more threatening than necessary.

He watches the young men of the militia go by and tries to see if they seem to be part of the town watch or if they seem to be marching off for a battle (spot 25, listen 21).

"Odd," he says in a low voice, "they don't seem too wary of strangers in these parts, do they?"

Trellus  d20+7=22
Thursday March 2nd, 2006 9:01:23 PM

"This is sunbaked," Trellus replies in agreement to Anuk.

Taking matters into his own hands, he calls out to the two militia men in his bestest easy going style.
"Hey Dudes! What's going on around here? We're kinda looking for some help. Can you point us toward one of your beaters?"
[Diplomacy 22. Added +1 on assumption they follow the Woldian gods. Check is 24 if they follow Domi.]

Gilan and Ciaran
Thursday March 2nd, 2006 9:19:36 PM

Gilan stops and watches the guards going about thier business. With a shrug of his shoulders as others take the direct approach he sighs. "Maybe they have bigger problems than strangers." He does not speak too loud so that the guards can hear but that all the pack can.

Ciaran stays close to his brother as he watches with interest. He otherwise seems to be at ease as if there is not danger at this time.

Tishe' and Stripes
Thursday March 2nd, 2006 10:28:43 PM

While completely at home with the Bloodpack, Tishe' agrees with the others that being ignored was the last thing she thought would happen. With Mac, Cirain, and Stripes in the group, and Raiders close by, she was afraid the villagers would be hostile, not oblivious!

"Perhaps all their threats come from the sea," suggests the brown-eyed girl, pointing out the destroyed buildings. "And in every section of Hook City, the best place to get information was the tavern. Perhaps they will have news of a way to contact the Lands of Rest." She points out the mug on the sign, but waits for someone else to make the first move.

Stripes has rarely seen so many humans, and such strange dens! He sticks close to his own human, very close indeed.

Thursday March 2nd, 2006 10:51:15 PM

Grymash notices the stares he gets and pays them back with his own. Though he tries his best not come off as brutish. Instead of his normal sneer, a simple flash of tooth and tusk, the half-orc gives them a nod, although a serious-looking nod. A slight attempt at diplomacy, nonetheless a concerted effort for a barbarian. (diplomacy 4)

Grymash ponders his first thoughts out loud, "Gry wonders whut dat house wit da spilled drink be?" (Int check: 0, Wis check: 9)

Jake  d20+15=28
Thursday March 2nd, 2006 11:39:09 PM

Jake sees an interesting new town, a lot of soldiers, and that amazing saltwater. He breathes it in excitedly, smiling to himself. "You can even taste it..."
While the others busy themselves with asking the townspeople what's going on, Jake takes a personal approach. He looks for the most pretty woman he can near the edges of the throngs of people, and wanders up. Taking off his hat, he throws a charming smile her way and asks, "Pardon me, ma'am, ah was wonderin' where a thirsty man might get a drop of water and other-" he stops, looking at her smiling, suggestively, "refreshments."
(Perhaps a bit too lewd. Diplomacy 28)

Flea  d20+13=21 d20+9=19
Friday March 3rd, 2006 12:03:23 AM

Flea hangs at the back of the pack and looks about the town. The rogue is thinking along the same lines as the rangy fighter, but addresses herself to the big minotaur. "Hey, Mac," she asks, "you figure they have a bar in this town?"

The rogue wonders for a moment if the party should be looking for a temple where they might find a god who would help out with getting Ulgren back, but then thoughts of Flaming Gnomish drive the good intentions from her head.

Talks and trouble. (DM Jim)
Friday March 3rd, 2006 12:53:29 AM

One of the militia men, the older of the two, stops and comes back to the pack. The other moves on searching for something as he moves. You notice that most of the time he is looking towards the sea as if expecting something.

The man smiles as he leans upon the strange speak. "Name is Haks...sorry for ignoring you there, figured you would move on over to the Mug." He points to the large building with the foaming mug on it. "Don't get many strangers around here but you seem an ok lot...better than the crabs anyways." He scans the sea again as if the mere mention of them will make them appear. "Those destroyed houses over there...flattened by those crabs...must have been at least fifteen feet tall." As he ponders the many questions that is put towards him he smiles openly.

Jake catchs one of the young woman's eye as he stands around. She had wandered over to have a look at the strangers and found she liked this one. She gives a shy smile as she looks to Haks and then takes Jake by the arm, leading him in the direction of the Mug. "You can get a drink here and maybe a little more." She has already moved Jake twelve feet from the group, snuggled against him.

Haks looks on with a shake of his head. "Better watch your friend...that there is Luz and she has been trying to find a husband for the last couple of months." He laughs at the look that will most likely appear upon your faces. "A beater....a beater...ya mean our chief?" He points to the Mug and a large fellow that is standing in front of it argueing with a pair of militia men. "That would be him...Graze by name...though dependin on what you need?" He kind of leaves it hanging and you notice a small shrine off to the side...well actually it is more of a small monument with some offerings near it.

As you shift a little he notices the bundle that Mac is carrying and shakes his head. "Lost one in the grass?" You think that there is a little bit more than just a question there but also some regret. "Our village holy man will be of little help to you and we have noone else that could bring back your friend." You once again notice the regret on his face as he has to give you the bad news.

From behind you and from the hilly area that you just left you hear the piercing scream of a rapke. Though it sets your teeth to rattleing, it does not seem to be used as an attack. On the hill and coming down you can see three riders on rapke, from the looks all of them are Barons.

"A drink would be nice, but only once Ulgren is seen to."

...then only to overhear that aid for Ulgren is in short supply here.
"So, about that drink then?"

...finally, to the sounds and sight of the rapke and their Barons. The drinks will clearly have to wait.
"Haks? Do you 'know' these people?" he asks, wondering what if any side the villagers will support if this is going the way of bloodshed.

Tishe' (AC 17 53/53) and Stripes (AC 16 31/31)  d20+4=17
Saturday March 4th, 2006 5:09:08 AM

Tishe' listens impatiently and doesn't notice Jake's romantic interlude; she wants to know how to get Ulgren back! At the mention of no help from thier priest, Tishe' siezes on the only thing she can think of to help: the shrine. (Know Religion: 17) Recognizing the symbol of Wardd, she sends a heart-felt prayer for some luck to find a way to access the Lands of Rest.

And then the bone-chilling rapke screams.

Tishe' sees the three Barons riding down to the villagers. "Prairie Piggies! Just what these people need. First crabs (whatever they are) and now bullies!"

A word and gesture and touch weaves a graceful spell upon Mac. "Get ready to kill some more Barons, sweetie.", she tells the minotaur.

Jake
Saturday March 4th, 2006 6:10:12 AM

Jake is on his way to the tavern, amiable companion included, when the sounds reach his slightly pointed ears. "Dusty turds!" he curses (well, actually his curse is a bit more profane, but let's keep this civil). "Pardon me, ma'am, but ah've no doubt mah companions will shortly be in trouble, and ah hate to miss out on something like that." He smiles to her, and takes her hand, giving it a gallant kiss, though it's really just to catch a better view of her bosom, and then he draws his sword and shield and rushes back to his team.

Trellus  d20+7=11
Saturday March 4th, 2006 12:25:26 PM

There are a lot of picks weaving here. Trellus gives the small shrine a quick glance, but he's got so many other things going through his head that nothing registers. [Knowledge religion check 11]

He didn't really expect help for Ulgren in a small town like this, but still sighs audibly at the confirmation.

The comment about Luz brings back his grin. "The two should have quite a contest then" he chuckles.

The cleric is about to suggest seeing Graze at the Mug and getting a little more detail on 15' tall giant crabs - whatever that is - when he hears the telltale sound of rapke.

And Barons are riding in like they own the place.

Maybe they do, the man thinks, reevaluating the number of villagers and their potential combat capability.

Jake comes back quickly, and Mac and Tishe are alreading moving. Trellus nods. These treadles aren't catching anyone by surprise.

He speaks lowly and quickly as the Barons approach.
"Everyone keep shuttlecocked, but don't attack yet. We don't know the weave here. Gry you watch the middle one, Mac left, Jake right. 'Nuk and Flea, keep an eye on the villagers."

Jake has drawn steel, and Tishe has cast her spell, and Gry pulling his axe is a virtual certainty. Trellus agrees with them. They've finally got some prep time and he's gonna use it. He reaches over and taps Jake on the shoulder. "Just in case"
[Bulls Strength cast on Jake]

As the Barons approach, the cleric of Domi skips his traditional 'Many Shadows' greeting and goes straight to a very blunt and unfriendly sounding -
"What do you treadles want?"

A Unforseen Twist. (DM Jim)
Saturday March 4th, 2006 8:34:52 PM

Haks looks up with an unconcerned looks and shrugs. "Some of them come in here every once in awhile to buy fish and other bounties of the sea from us." He looks to the tall grass that is still a long ways from the village and leans upon his trident. "They have a village of thier own or a fortress in the grass of to the northeast or something like that." He takes not of the group getting ready for something worse and sighs. "Don't start any trouble unless someone else does it...this village has enough problems."

During this time the riders have reached the village and are ten feet from the group as they stand with Haks. The one in the middle who you can now recognize as a female takes in the lot of you and the drawn weapons. "Be at ease Bloodpack...we come for other things today." She slides off her rapke and then hands the reins to the man on the left. She moves forward to about five feet from the group, while looking you all over still. "You would be Trellus and the leader of this little group...but you are missing one...we were told that you numbered a drow in you party now." It is obvious that she has already noticed the human bundle that Mac is holding over his shoulder but she does not make any mention of it. She holds out her left hand, palm towards the group, and you notice the eye of Gargul on it...but it seems not like the one that Grymash wears.

A smile slips to her face as she tries to make a show of peace. "It seems that we can barter for the service that we seek from the Bloodpack." She motions with the Gargul eyed hand to the body that Mac carries with a knowing look. "This village lost thier cleric a month ago when the giant crabs attacked and he was pinched in half...still I maybe willing to cast the spell that you need...for a price." Her eyes never leave Trellus's now as she speaks and puts forth the deal, though she is still waiting a little to give the...CATCH.

The two men have by now dismounted and stand by thier own mounts though they seem to be totally at ease. Neither has made a move to thier weapons though they do not look happy about what is going on. Finally as the small amount of time passes the one on the right speaks up. "Come Rayka...this is a waste of time and we will get our own back from the Oglian. This time we just need to make the party that goes in a little bigger and stronger to get back the missing kids." With a look of fury Rayla turns with fists clenched. "You will keep your mouth shut Bikle...the council has decided on this action...this threat to the Plains cannot be ignored...it is something that we all must fear." She turns back to Trellus with a apologetic look. "Please do not mind Bikle...he has lost a sister when the Oglian tunnel was discovered by them. We have since lost two rescue partied who went to rescue the missing youngster." She once again waves the two men silent as the other one was about to take this time. "So we offer the ability to bring back your friend...if you will get back our missing kids and discover what happened to the rescue party." You notice that the two men are most likely brothers, in fact twins at that.

The twin brothers are missing a sister to the Oglian and Rayla is missing a brother so they have an interest in getting the Bloodpacks help."}

Trellus scowls as his eyes flick from Baron to Baron. Haks' caution against starting anything ring in his ears, as well as the startling announcement that he considers them nothing more than traders or something. AND she says she can open the way to Gargul. Still, these are Barons. It don't weave true.

And yet....
His eyes flick over to Ulgren, and to the taur carrying him. Mac complained about not knowing enough.
"The eye on her hand is the symbol of Gargulus," he announces. "Gargul before he joined the Woldian gods. The Oglian are a story my dad told to keep us weaving straight. Smart bugs that lived under the Plains and ruled over everything on the Grass hundreds of years ago."

Out of long habit, the young man reaches for the back of his neck, stopping when it his mithral mail instead of his stubbly hair. Almost apologetically, he lets the hand fall.
She says she can cast the spell

"What do you know about these crabs?" he demands mistrustfully. "And how do you know who we are? And why do you think we can find out about your families when you can't?"
She says she can cast the spell.

Even as he asks his questions, the man's voice becomes less sure, less hostile. There simply won't be any other options short of going home to get any help for Ulgren. And even then...when's the last time the Monks offered to bring anyone back?

Jake
Monday March 6th, 2006 12:31:26 AM

Blackpack team huddle up!
"Help out the Raiders? That's totally baked. Who knows, we could be causing bigger problems by any contact with them whatsoever. And what do ya think the Druids back home would do if they found out we did anything for them?" Jake shakes his head and regards the Raiders. "How come they're so different than the other slavers anyhow??"
Jake also does a once over of the woman leading the evil guys. There's always a bit of something interesting about chasing the enemy, as he knows from the packs back home...But is she worth it?
(Aka, charisma/general description of the evil gal?)

Tishe' (AC 17 53/53) and Stripes (AC 16 31/31)  d20=6 d20+13=19
Monday March 6th, 2006 2:57:52 AM

Stripes is beside her, hackles up and bared teeth, sensing the anger and fear of his human, but then the hi-eena is unsure and looks up into his human's face.

Tishe' looks crushed between to very strong emotions, to punish these bullies and restore Ulgren. She drops her hands to her sides and away from the spell she had been planning and stares dumbfounded at the woman dismounting from her rapke. She said she would do anything to get Ulgren back. Does that include helping Barons?

She doesn't recognize the significance of the strange Gargul symbol(Know Rel 6), but she's heard of the Oglian(Know Arcane 19), and reluctantly nods at Trellus' words. "My mentor in Hook City told me of them as well. Used people for food and lived underground. But they haven't been heard of for hundreds of years." she says in a distracted manner.

Tishe' is still wrestling with her promise and suspicion. To give herself more time, she latches onto the most outlandish thing the Baron has said

"Since when have Barons worried about what is good for the 'Plains?" she spits venomously.

Hackles still raised, Stripes whines and growls, standing close to his human.

Mac
Monday March 6th, 2006 2:58:14 AM

Mac takes in what people say, nodding in understanding with what Trellus tells him about the old Gargul and the smart bugs. The things parents tell their kids!

To Jake he replies, "They're different b'cause they really need help and they ain't lookin' to take the advantage. The slavers worked well together, but they were lookin' so hard to take advantage of us that they failed to notice there weren't much advantage to take."

Anuk  d20=1
Monday March 6th, 2006 3:03:52 PM

"Help the slavers?!" Anuk asks, incredulously. He looks the raiders over and exclaims. "Hardly seems like the way Ulgren would want to come back. I mean, he certainly had no love for these white-handed treadles. Uh...no offense intended."

(diplomacy 1)

Flea  d20+6=22
Monday March 6th, 2006 11:51:04 PM

Flea's eyes narrow as the female tells her tale...and makes an offer.

"Can we trust 'em?" she asks, moving between Gilan and Trellus. "These bugs sound a lot like the ants we fought back in the mountains. Ya think they've burrowed this far?" The rogue is incredulous, and yet she thinks there is some truth to what the enemy says, (Knowledge History=22, would this be good enough to know about the creatures?)

"Can we trust 'em?" she repeats, wondering if the one speaking really has the power to bring Ulgren back.

Grymash  d20+4=14
Tuesday March 7th, 2006 12:41:55 AM

Grymash just stands there, stoic and foreboding, arms across and bulging. He finds this interesting. A priestess of Gargulus! The old ways! In the time before. A baron. Grymash isnt surprised. To see that mark on her brings back memories like a flood. He cant help but crack a slightly crooked and menacing smile from underneath the shadows of his helmet. He hadnt seen or heard that name since the time he was liberated from the orc horde. A secret he has neglected to tell his closest friends about how and why he became a cleric of Gargul. The 'change' apparently hadn't touched this one.

"Why yooz think Gargul no claim da souls of yooz kin already? Why da creepers keep them any longer than it takes ta eat thems? Yooz sure thayz not given over to da creepers. Gry knows all 'bout da evil deals beaters have wit those dat live in da dark!"

The Offer stands (ADM MikeK)
Tuesday March 7th, 2006 8:43:37 PM

Trellusdemands to know how the Baron's know the Bloodpack, and why they've made this offer.

Jake mistakenly identifies the trio as Raiders, but does insightfully ask how news of such a bargain would be received back home.

Tishe and Anuk voice their mistrust of the Barons, while Mac notes the trio appears in real need this time around.

Flea, like most of her packmates, is torn. Grymash cuts right to the heart of the matter. Who's to say the kin of these Baron's are even alive?

As the Bloodpack make their demands and voice their mistrust, the faces of the three Barons grow more and more clouded. The two men go so far as to take a couple steps toward the group, while their hands slide toward the weapons secured on their waist. Their two rapke fixate on Grymash, sizing the half-orc up, gauging the distance.....
Without moving her eyes from Trellus, Rayla spits out a warning to her fellow Barons, "you two take another step without my authority and I'll have you flayed."
The men darken even more. But they stop.

The female Baron stares at Trellus for several long heartbeats. Her stare moves from the cleric to Grymash, then Tishe, Jake, Anuk, Gilan, Flea, Mac, and the wrapped form he carries. Her hard stare is reflected in the equally cold eyes of the Bloodpack. After some moments of heightened silence, she begins speaking.
"We are not raiders. We are Barons. They are slavers. We are lords."
Her words are curt, terse, but she does continue to answer the questions.
"The Bloodpack has faced, and defeated, Barons three times. You are among a very few living souls who can make that claim."

Her announcement shocks the two men. "Rayla," one breathes. "You can't tell them...."
"Shut up," the woman shoots back. "I follow the will of the Council." Again, she doesn't turn to address him, keeping her face on Trellus. She continues.
"Eberyon offered us your name and yourselves for the second Kall'a'tek. But again you defeated us."

"You are strong, and we have need of your strength. You work well together, and we have need of a small team. The tunnels are narrow, and a few succeed where many would fail. For have no doubt that the Oglian are real. You must find them. For your own safety and that of your town, you will need to find them, to learn of their strengths and weaknesses, their numbers, their goal. Your masters will pay dearly for that knowledge, even siding with a Baron."
She lets slip a half grin. "After all, they've made such pacts before. They are quite a practical people, your masters."

"And as for your trust, we have no need of it. I will cast the spell. You will watch and know what I have cast. You will get your friend from Gargulus. And then you will find our children, or proof of their deaths. We believe them alive. The Oglian will breed them for labor and food."
The jaws of the two men are clenched so fiercely it's a wonder they don't snap their teeth.

"Trellus, I will have your oath, taken in the name of your god, that you will seek out our children and find our rescue parties. That is all I need to cast the spell."

"What say you?"

Grymash
Wednesday March 8th, 2006 12:59:59 AM

The sound of the woman scolding her underlings is like sweet music to his pointed ears. The half-orc subtly mocks his objection to the men's advancement with a slight shake of his head and a disapproving finger. He can feel their blood boiling and yet the unrulely duo can do nothing about it. His crooked smile grows even wider, exposing more of his teeth and tusks. Grymash amazes himself for showing so much restraint. He would have never had a chance to enjoy this so much if he had gone with his instinct and attacked them. As for the rapke, he gives a ravenous stare. A slight lick of his lips tells the three reptilian creatures that they are coming very close to becoming his dinner tonight! The jawbone of a rapke hangs from around his neck, along with a collection of other tooth and bone. A grisly hallmark of the barbarian for all to see.

Other than that, he awaits to hear what Trellus has to say.

Trellus
Wednesday March 8th, 2006 7:52:23 AM

Trellus rips his eyes from Rayla and looks back at his friends.
"I'm in if you are," he says quietly.

Anuk
Wednesday March 8th, 2006 10:56:51 AM

"Light, I dunno," sighs Anuk. "But, the woman does say she'll pay up front. If she brings Ulgren back, I'll go. If not, well..." He looks the men over for a moment. "I suppose we'll cut that thread when we come to it."

Jake
Wednesday March 8th, 2006 1:09:43 PM

"Well, if you say so, Trell... But ah'm still pretty sure this'll be bad for our reputashun, but what the heck, reputashun hardly matters compared to our packmates, huh?"

Gilan and Ciaran
Wednesday March 8th, 2006 2:27:29 PM

Gilan watches with some interest as the display goes on. He does perk up as she mentions the Father and shakes his head. Oh that one is still a little miffed at his defeat.

When Trel speaks he nods his head once. "We have the means to make sure she casts the right spell and we do outnumber them...though for the spell she has offered...they would be a powerful enemy to have." He looks to Anuk and gives a slight smile and another nod of his head. "As Nuk says...it is for a packmate...we promised Gargul the first time to think of the pack and not ourselves...to be all you can for the good of the pack." He shrugs as he looks back to Rayla and the two twins. "I am in Trel."

Mac
Wednesday March 8th, 2006 5:03:56 PM

"In!", says Mac with the beginnings of a grin.
"Jake, maybe in the near while, but not so in the long while I think."

Flea
Wednesday March 8th, 2006 5:32:47 PM

The rogue looks at the female baron and her jaw drops in astonishment.

"I follow the will of the Council."

She yanks on Trellus' robe. "What does she mean? What do the Barons know of the Council? The Rattledam Council? The monks?" she whispers incredulously. Then the woman drops her next bombshell.

"Eberyon offered us your name and yourselves for the second Kall'a'tek."

Flea's mind reels at this new information. Was everyone in league against them? The Barons? The Council? Nature itself? The rogue doesn't know what to think. She places her hand over the gem embedded in her chest, but sends no message to her packmates. Confusion is written on her face as she tries to make sense of everything.

"Just get Ulgren back," the rogue's eyes search those of her friends, "whatever it takes."

Trellus
Wednesday March 8th, 2006 8:11:33 PM

The cleric responds to Flea, "Surely she means some baron council. She can't mean ours." The words are almost, but not quite full of conviction. Trellus isn't sure what to believe anymore.

He grasps onto the now. And in the now, its time to get Ulgren back.

"We agree," he tells the woman. "I swear by Domi that should we return with Ulgren, we will discover the fate of your children and the rescue party that went after them."
