Dropping In (DM/Al) Friday February 24th, 2006 8:58:21 PM
Plans change. With memories of Lord Perimon's routed guards, the prospect of Floating City seems less inviting.
"Hey, Noxy! Buddeeeee!!! How've you been? Long time. I've missed you."
Indeed in an odd way, the plain bronze mirror on a tripod seems happy, in it's own way, to see the talkative ring as well. To Firn'gaer's eye the patterns on the screen are livelier, more animated.
"Magic, huh? Oh, another bad one? Yeah. Luck of the draw. Some people just don't handle power very well."
"So, how've they been doing so far? Yeah? Really? ... " And the beat goes on.
It turns out that the Vision's range is incredibly extensive. The problem with the Vision is one of convention. It knows nothing of either the names or places that sentients use so freely. Neither does it have the same concept of distance or scale that others take so much for granted. But, when asked where the other Chaos Artifacts are, two darkly colored motes appear on the screen.
"Er ... Noxy, he says that's Xaos. The other high density probability node is another one of you." The Circle's voice is framed in hesitation. The two colored motes move across the screen as the group crowds around to see. They are near each other, but clearly not on top of one another. Though Faraday seems to know which is which, they both appear exactly the same as far as anyone else can see. As they near the edge of the screen, the view jumps, centering them again.
"He, um, says that Atman is in a place that he can't see. I don't think there's ever been a place into which Noxy couldn't see. Of course I've never asked him, but he's never complained about it before. He, uh, he doesn't like it."
"But that's Xaos. Right there. And I can take you there. Now. Quick as a wink."
There doesn't seem much rush, though. The boat will last until the afternoon of the next day. Many spells have been expended for the underwater expedition. The fourth Artifact appears as safe as it can be for now, and it is decided to leave the following day instead, early in the morning.
The rest of the day is spent under the blazing sun. The sky is cloudless and crystal blue. Food is Kraken rations. Chewy and tough, but with a satisfying salty taste. Faraday talks all day. The third night passes upon the water, with the sky full of stars. Faraday talks most of the night as well. Morning comes. Kraken? Again? Spells are renewed.
"Alright. Ready to go? Quick as a wink."
The Circle has no eye to wink. And it's conception of time must be quite different from other more short-lived creatures. A minute passes in silence. Five minutes. Ten. A half hour. Forty-five minutes. An HOUR!
*wink*
It is morning here as well. But where before there was water, there are now green and rolling hills. Clumps of trees and small stands of woods dot the distant landscape. A road rolls away beneath the party's feet. Everyone's here. Standing in the same places they had been standing in the boat.
Not 30 feet away is a contingent of men, women and horse drawn wagons, a caravan. They are ten strong, with one more, a gray bearded man in more wealthy attire. Their small campfire is cold. From the status of their equipment, it appears they are in the midst of packing to continue their journey. They stand frozen, watching the group of men, women and animals who had just appeared soundlessly from thin air. One man has a cup in his hand, agog, his mouth is half open, caught in the act of drinking.
Then the tableau breaks and they are all movement. The sound of steel sings in the air as weapons are drawn. The guards pull back, forming a protective cordon.

Here's your entrance, JK. Welcome.
BTW, I'll be available to post responses all weekend, so feel free to post at will. - Al
Savin Friday February 24th, 2006 9:59:03 PM
Savin holds up hands, fingers splayed wide, in a peaceful gesture. He says, "We are sorry we startled you. We mean no one any harm. Strange and powerful magic just moved us here. We didn't even know you were going to be here. Please relax.
In fact, if you can tell us where we are, we would be very grateful. Last place we were was on a large lake in a boat. Wow is that food? Maybe we can purchase some from you. We have been surviving on Kraken for the last few days. It tastes OK but it is really tough.
I am sorry, I am rambling. Let me introduce myself. My name is Savin and I am a monk of Domi. Pleasure to meet you." Savin gives a low bow, keeping his eyes on the strangers.
Sly and Luke Saturday February 25th, 2006 8:15:06 AM
"NO! I'm not>>>>ZIP>>> Ready?" as Sly stand in frount of the Caravan, But when the gusrds draw their weapons. Sly draws his weapon, then takes the fighting stance, "I'm called Sly the Blade-singer,I'm not here to fight Women and children, I only fight Chaos!"
As Sly talks to the guards, Luke come around Sly legs and his back hairs raises. Luke bears his teeth, then ask "Do you people have an extra Soup Bone? That Kraken is tough to eat!"
Father Jasper d20=17 Saturday February 25th, 2006 1:07:34 PM
Jasper follows Savin Lead with hand held open palms turns up (Diplomacy 23)Hold on there folks (as they draw) slow down, we mean no harm at all as my friend here has said we are not here to fight nor steal we work for a higher power, I am Father Jasper priest of Alemi. If there are any people that are in need of care Jasper offers his services as a healer.
Standing Down - DM Addendum (DM/Al) Saturday February 25th, 2006 10:31:06 PM
The cordon of guards remains unmoved. One, a red-headed woman, keeps both ends of her two headed mace in constant motion. There are longswords, shortswords, a Hand-and-a-Half sword. There's an eagle eyed bowman. And, and older guard who carries no weapon at all. All appear exceptionally competent.
"Hold off! Hold yourselves off!" The gray bearded man in more wealthy attire warns the Children of Chaos away. "I'm Silus Destin, master of this caravan, and in such capacity, I will have you hold yourselves apart for now."
"If, as you say, you mean no harm, then a few more minutes while we take your measure won't be any hurt for you at all. I hope you understand the care we take when a body appears from out of the grass, with talking animals and foreign gods on their lips."
"If you don't mind now, we'll be taking the measure of your souls." He turns to the guard with the heavy bastard sword. "Marten? If you would, please." The man, in woven armor, sheath's his sword and draws his hands up and out as though offering himself to the Children of Chaos. His eyes narrow as the group comes under his scrutiny.
"They do not carry the taint of Evil upon them, Silus," the man answers. He remains in the cordon, but he does not again draw his sword.
"Alright. Perhaps you are as you say. Stand down, all. You can stand down. But keep a sharp eye about you. We're almost there, but almost won't bring you the bacon in this business."
The guards break up, and slowly return to the process of readying for the day's journey.
"Maybe you can call off your Chaos fighter there," the caravan master points to Sly Foxx, his blade still drawn. "You're in the Gateway Downs on the Trade Road, two days south of Heranmar by my reckoning. We're bound there from Hook City with a load of magic lentils."
"And, may I ask where from you've just come not to know where you are? It's a curious thing, I think you'll admit. And, I'd like an answer, if you don't mind. A curiosity can be your downfall in this business if you simply let it lie at that."
Thank the gods. At least the Circle hasn't complicated things further by yammering on.
Sly and Luke Sunday February 26th, 2006 7:33:12 AM
Sly sheath's his sword, then bows inrespect of Master of the Caravan, "As you wish, Elder Silus Destin." As all the Children of Chaos stand still, Sly call to Peerimus.
"Peerimus we're HOME, Gatewaydowns is our home! We were first became adventures Children of Chaos in the port city near Heranmar. We are now on Trader Road! North of here is Ice Vain, remember that adventure? East of here is the Dre Moria, That the Elven Forest, that's another Good adventure. South of here is the Hask River, spanding that River is Hook City, Witch leads to the Plains. Peerimus! We own a warehouse there in hook City, a BIG one, I think I still have the Papers. Do You Know What This Means?? We're All Most Home!"
For the first time In a long while Sly Smiles, his heart beats quicker, he's thinking that there might a chance to see his life mate once again.
Luke pants and sits looking up at Sly, "Do You have Soup Bones in wearhouse?"
Savin Sunday February 26th, 2006 8:27:44 PM
Savin hears Sly's joyous tone and is a little despondent. He really doesn't have a house that he calls home. The monastary was wonderful and the senior monks nice but it wasn't home. He wonders if he will every have a place that he can call home. A wife and kids....not while he is wearing these tattoos anyway.
Savin watches the situation but remains quiet. He decides to let Peerimus take the lead in this situation.
Father Jasper Monday February 27th, 2006 2:33:06 AM
Welcome home my Friend Jasper Claps Sly on the back I am glad to hear that you have returned Alemi Blessing I hope to find home again too Beutiful place were you born near here ???? How long have you been away from home friend?? I would love to her some of your adventures Sly, you seam to have had a few, Turing to the caravan master Is there anything that we can you that might help you friend?? We can eplain everything to you but it will take time its a long story, intresting but long, one that would be best told by a warm fire with a cold ale.
Firn'gaer Monday February 27th, 2006 7:44:39 AM Back in the frigid south...fun...
The wizard is pleased for the others that they are coming home, but inside he's envious. His home, far to the north, maybe something he'll never see again. Still if he can keep this Destroyer from awakening, his home and loved ones will be safe. Maybe it's a sacrifice worth making.
The gnome steps forward. "I'm Firn'gaer Gyddyn a member of the Star Mages Guild. We have not the taint of evil as you see. With the dangers on the road, perhaps we can both benefit from each others company. If you would permit then we would travel with you to Hook City. Increased number would surely deter attacks. Is it a fair arrangement"
Jones Monday February 27th, 2006 8:04:46 AM
After the short little showdown, one of the guards approaches Savin. The man is rather short and more than a bit balding. He looks fit and healthy, but he doesn't look much like the stereotypical guard... maybe more like an inn keeper. Except, inn keepers don't smile quite so much as this little man.
"Did I hear you correctly? You said you're a monk of Domi? Not too many of those around here, are there?" He fingers the hammer shaped necklace he's wearing, "I'm one of Domi's faithful myself." He turns to Jasper and adds, "Not too many priests of the true gods in these parts either, so if you want to chat some theology later let me know. Better yet, let me know if either of you want to wrestle or box."
He pats Savin on the arm, "And tell that puny wizard friend of yours that we're going to Heranmar, not Hook City. Well, it's been a pleasure."
Jones flashes another smile and heads back over to the guards. As an afterthought, the guard spins around and adds, "Excuse my manners, the name's Jones."
Firn'gaer (second) Monday February 27th, 2006 8:25:25 AM
"My mistake, Master Jones. Excuse me, but correct me if I'm wrong. Does Domi consider size a measure of one courage?" He says to the Domi priest. "Don't mistake my size for weakness. It is a tactic that works well on dim-witted opponents who think size is a measure of ability."
[OOC: misread the direction of the caravan.]
Peerimus and Yorrick Monday February 27th, 2006 8:26:40 AM A day on the Lake and morning on lush rolling fields of grass. Peerimus lets out a small sigh of pleasure and looks about with a smile. The caravan reacts as only could be expected, but the 'taint of evil' comments draw an odd perplexed look fromm him and his habit of cocking his head sideways. iLikely a Detect evil spell and I just wasn't paying attention. No matter
At learning of thier location several thoughts hit the druid. His is happy to hear that he is close to home, though it is not actually his home any longer in the normal sence of the word. Familiarity with surroundings always does one good. Hook city and the confrontation with Shiraz was a differnt memory, but ends pleasant enough. "Yes Sly, it is good to be in the familiar countryside again. Perhaps it is a good time to sheathe your blade friend"
Firngaer steps forward and introduces himself and Father Jasper has done likewise and Peerimus adds a bit as well, speaking loud enough for the entire caravan to hear. "We have just arrived here from Turtle Lake about the Floating City via a kind of Teleport. We came here, because one in your caravan shares bond with us and a truly adventurous and remarkable destiny. One filled with wonder, danger and mystery. Peerimus then falls quiet and waits for what he hopes is the individual bearing the chaos mark to step out.

Sly and Luke Monday February 27th, 2006 9:04:51 AM
"Sorry! Peerimus" sly sheth is sword. but to Br. Jasper "Brother Jasper You don't under stand, when I said Home, I meant That we Own a warehouse and house behind it! It's our Home Base. As long as your a Children of Chaos you own part of it. It say so in the Will. Some where near Heranmar is the Home base of the Witches!" Sly Tells the party.
Turning toward The one Called Jones, Talking to retreating Jones. "I'm sorry about my manners, I'm the one call Sly Foxx the Blade-singer and wizard. I glade to meet you! and this is my dog Luke." Sly tell Luke "Say Hello. Luke"
Luke Look at Jones, "Hello! Have any Soup Bone?"
Mutual Recognition - DM Addendum (DM/Al) Monday February 27th, 2006 10:16:56 AM
Luke's continued request for soup bones draws stares from the caravan guards as they go about their business. Could have sworn that dog just said 'soup bones'.
The Children of Chaos, however, have their attention draw elsewhere. For, as the guard, known only as Jones, raises a hand to pat Savin on the arm, he reveals a tattoo on the back of his hand. His, however, is in the shape of a sphere, a dark round pearl. Tattoo, though it may be, it radiates an emptiness as though an artist, inspired by the vastness of the cosmos, had been able to capture the essence of the Void.
Each member of the group exchanges a knowing look. A look that say to each other, "This is the one. He is the one that we saw." At this moment, they see that their own tattoos have changed once again. They too reflect the Void.
And Jones, his sharp eye catches the tattoos worn by these new and startling strangers. They bear the same mark as he, changed yet another time for reasons as mysterious to the wandering monk of Domi as its origin.
Peerimus and Yorrick Monday February 27th, 2006 11:06:43 AM
I apparently posted at the same time 'Jones'
A wrinkle crosses his face as the apparent guard speaks. He looks back down at his noble friend, once a tall and proud human, now a tall and proud gnome.
"Savin, if you would be so good as to correct your brother in whatever manner Domi would see fit."
Father Jasper Monday February 27th, 2006 12:11:17 PM
Master Jones I would love to discuss the teachings of Alemi with yo and make myself at your disposal Life is to short not to discover ones faith. Are there anyone here that needs my help, I hope not but there is striff and suffering everywhere we go and I am sure here is not diffrent. " shaking his head" Violence is not answer to everything and in life my friend but if you are looking for a contest of strengh try sparing with savin or with a impish smile Yorrick, I think they would be a beter choice for that kind of thing the the aged priest.
Jones Monday February 27th, 2006 1:09:21 PM
Jones stops and stares a moment, "I must confess that it's strange that we all have the same tattoo." He shrugs off the wonderment and adds, "Pray, just call me Jones or Brother Jones if you find it neccessary to add extra words to it. I'm not master of anything, just a caravan guard."
He flashes a smile at Firn'gaer, "As you can see friend, I'm quite small myself. I apologize if you found my remark to offensive, but most wizards don't enjoy the physical pursuits that Domi relishes. And Good Father," he looks to Jasper, "I don't enjoy violence, just good sport."
Savin Monday February 27th, 2006 6:45:03 PM
Savin's eyes gleam at the challenge he hears in the voice of this Jones. "Brother Jones? Are you also a monk of Domi? Did you study at a monastary too? Is yours a wandering order?" Savin's voice sounds with glee as he ponders the implications. Yes all his friends are skilled in their own way but everyone knows that being a monk is the best! To find another monk to train with and pit oneself against is like a dream come true.
He then notices the tattoo and his joy is suddenly gone. He will reach out and say, "My brother, it looks like you have been marked like the rest of us. You have been picked by the fates for great adventure. These ever changing tattoos mark you as a Child of Chaos. We are champions for good and our ultimate ambition is to foil the Avatar of Chaos. Like it or not, but it looks like your fate is joined to ours.
Still once this caravan stops for the night, I would find it an honor to match my skills against yours. I am looking forward to it."
Traveling With The Caravan (DM/Al) Monday February 27th, 2006 9:25:27 PM
"Do I hear a contest brewing here?" Silus the Caravan Master speaks up from the place from which he has been watching and listening. "Well, if you're going to be traveling with us, we might as well make an entertainment out of it. I'd be happy to officiate. Bare hands. No magic."
A buzz goes up amongst the guards.
"Five silver pieces on the newcomer."
"I'll give you a gold on Jones."
"Hey, Marten, does your code let you bet on fights between outland mysticals?"
"I'll take the newcomer," this is the tall red-headed woman. She examines Savin with an interest that goes beyond his fighting prowess.
"Haha, go get him, Reena." There's raucous laughter from all the guards. The Caravan Master chuckles as well.
The fire pit is buried, and the wagons brought around onto the road. The Children of Chaos are allowed to range wherever they wish. But the Caravan Master assigns his guards in pairs. This is a thing that Jones may note he has never done before, but a sensible precaution when traveling with a group who have appeared from nowhere only this morning.
Jones is paired with the very quiet and straight laced Marten. He is watchful, as usual. And he is not very talkative, as usual.
It's a beautiful late Spring day. Pleasant to be walking. Even more pleasant to be paid for it.
As the Children of Chaos wander about, they notice that the cargo consists of containers filled with large gray-green beans or peas about the size of a large man's thumb. Magic Lentils did the man say? Magic or not, ten highly trained guards appears a bit much for such a cargo.
The day upon the Trade road wears on. Other merchants pass on the way south. Some hail. Some even know Silus by name. Occasionally a horseman, or group of horsemen will thunder by, catching the caravan and then passing it by on their way north.
"I've been from Turak Nor to Rattledam to the every edge of the fields of Ice Vein." Silus calls down to the Children of Chaos in general from his seat on the lead wagon. "You seem well versed in the lands here. But I've never heard of Turtle Lake nor of the Floating City. Must be handy. That teleportation."
"We should be making Heranmar by late evening tomorrow. What say I treat everyone to magic lentils tonight? They're considered a delicacy. We've no soup bones. But we can at least do that much on the night before we arrive."
The day is unrelentingly normal. This in contrast to the crushing weight that destiny has just dropped on top of Jones. Talking dogs. Teleportation. Avatar of Chaos? And he, supposedly a part of it all. Fate may have been more kind to Jaeden, Lady Silverhand, and Father Jasper. They, at least, had not choice but to adapt to their situation. They had the distraction of danger and the necessity of everyday survival.
=== OOC ===
Are you up for a Competition between two Monks? If so, I'll lay our the rules tomorrow.
Savin Tuesday February 28th, 2006 8:27:04 AM
Savin will try and engage Silas in conversation. "Magic Lentils? How do you prepare them? I have some cooking skills and would like to help you if that is agreeable. Must admit, I never had magic ingrediants before."
He tells the caravan leader of some of their journeys. We were in the Ice Vein for a short period. It was very cold there. We even got a chillier reception. Crazy mage who liked to build golems. Never seen some many statues running around trying to kill me."
OOC Savin doesn't mind a friendly competition but really don't want it to consume to much time. Can we so how do it in one night? Make multiple rolls or something?
Sly and Luke Tuesday February 28th, 2006 8:48:12 AM
Sly smiles at his friends as the though of having a Home Base all their own, sinks into their minds. "Some day soon, WE have to go to Hook City, if it is only to pay the Taxes!" Sly winks at all his friends.
When the idea of having a wrestling match between Our Savin and their new Member Br.Jones, the betting beging, Sly shouts "Two silver on the Children of Chaos, BOTH of then!!"I better stay on their good side, the both of them. He He! Luke speaks up, "Me Too!"
But when the Gypsie woman placing her bet on the match? Sly turns at the sound of her voice, He only see her hair is red like his sister Ruby use to be, But when he hears one of the men call her name 'Reena', his heart starts to beat faster, he start to sweat, he turns to look at the woman again. But she is gone. I must find out who she is, chances are She is not My Ragina. But I must ask the Wagon Master Silus tonight.
Luke ask Sly, "See Ghost? You Pale?"
Jones Tuesday February 28th, 2006 9:16:19 AM
Jones doesn't seemed concerned about the new arrivals in the least, "Avatar of Chaos? Sounds like fun."
Jones tries talking with Savin throughout the day since he is certainly more engaging in conversation than Marten.
"I don't know that I'd say I'm a monk. I've not had any official training in a monastery. I just studied with a wandering priest for a few years. His lessons resonated with me, and I've let Domi guide me the rest of the way. I do aspire to be one of the Hands of Domi though."
[ppc: I concur. A contest sounds like fun, but I hate to take a long time for it.]
Firn'gaer d20+7=21 Tuesday February 28th, 2006 11:27:57 AM
Firn'gaer responds to Jones' appology. "No appologies are needed. It's a sore spot for me. You see I wasn't always a gnome. Originally human, I met an unfortunate accident with a druidic artifact and this is the result. I didn't mean to be harse in my response."
Firn'gaer address the current mark bearers. "I didn't realize that your home was here. I guess I was under the assumption that, like myself, you were drawn in by the Crones from places elsewhere, interesting. I was heading for Hook City when I arrived here, but as you know I never made it. And a house and warehouse you say, very nice."
"A contest?" Firn'gaer says. "A friendly sort of sport would definitely be nice to see."
Dinner first then contest... Comes a squeak from the folds of Firn'gaer's robes.
"Don't be rude Rufus. In due time."
I'm hungry.
"How about a bit of dried nuts or bread."
No I want magic things...
"You'll have to wait. You must forgive my impatient friend here he get food on the brain and cen think of little else." After years together, Firn'gaer appologizes for Rufus as if the other could understand him as well.
Firn'gaer does however sit down with the vision in a quiet place, as there can be with the commotion, and tries to see if he can talk to and understand the Vision of Noxnyx.
[Int check DC21]
Peerimus and Yorrick d20+15=26 d20+19=36 Tuesday February 28th, 2006 2:17:53 PM
Peerimus will move about the caravan and idly chat with anyone wanting a new voice to hear. He will also see if he can barter or buy his way into a Quarterstaff. Barring any success, Peerimus will take a wander through any nearby wooded areas the caravan passes to try and find a suitable piece.
The day is spent in blissful nothing, a nice change. A chance to reflect on what has happened and what lies ahead. Yorrick, back in a element so much more familiar is also much happier. Grass beneath his paws again, as the group starts to set up camp for the evening, he lopes over to Luke and tackles him. [ac 26 Grapple 36]
Jaeden Ohm Tuesday February 28th, 2006 3:35:32 PM
Disoriented by the still unfamiliar teleportation, Jaeden follows along quietly. He tries to piece things together from listening to the others but has difficulty.
and things were just starting to make sense...
By the time they stop for the night Jaeden is feeling quite lost. When Peerimus comes by he waves for the Druid to join him and questions.
"Peerimus where are we. Not only do I not recognize this place, but it feels... different. What does Sly mean that we're home? Where is home?"
Peerimus (2nd) Tuesday February 28th, 2006 5:17:10 PM
Peerimus sits with Jaeden and can not wipe the grin from his face. "Sly has several meanings in that my friend. I can tell you we are on the Southern Continent in a relatively peaceful area between Hook City and Heranmar which are all considered part of the Gateway Downs. And yes I realize that none of these names may mena anything to you. Suffice it to say we are in 'civilized' lands of sttrecthing fields and farms, dotted with small villages and thorps upon trhe Southern Continent. Sly and myself and," Peerimus pauses a moment, "I think Savin spent our youths essentially nearby. Myself, my birthplace is within 30 miles or so. Sly also means that as a bearer of the 'chaos mark', a well established house and wharehouse in Hook City it technically part owned by you, by all of us. Hence 'Home'."
Peerimus looks steady at Jaeden for a moment then asks, "Our meeting was not under good circumstances, or at least pleasant." the last is added with mirth, "Tell me Jaeden where do you originally hail, where is true home for Jaeden and Dalek?"
Father Jasper Tuesday February 28th, 2006 9:17:58 PM
Jasper spends his time walking and keeping Lady Silverhand company, It seems that the magic trip and dangers of being a chaos child has affected her more then the others. He spends numerous hours talking of the teaching of Almei to her and about faith hopping the confused and scared Silent Lady will maybe to get her to come out of her shell and talk.
Evening's Festivities (DM/Al) Tuesday February 28th, 2006 9:56:53 PM
"Magic lentils? Ahh, but that's a secret." The caravan master winks at Savin from his seat on the wagon. "No. I'm joking. They almost cook themselves. They take from the cook, the essence of his wishes. Tonight, I'll make a dish from my childhood. You'll see."
Sly joins in the spirit of the betting. The tall warrior woman, Reena notices his stares. She smiles in reply. But it's a confused smile that wonders at the intensity in this strange half-elf's eyes. She shrugs and walks away. Certainly she is an attractive woman, dressed in plate armor within which she moves with grace.
Jones occasionally breaks away from his partner, both Marten and the caravan master frown. But they say nothing. He is of an odd outland religion, and they are almost to Heranmar. Why stir up waves? He speaks of his training, comparing notes. Possibly in preparation for the evening's contest.
Rufus squeaks from within Firn'gaer's robe. Food and food and food and food. But, there is the day's march to wait. Firn'gaer hitches a ride on the tailgate of one of the wagons as it rattles down the road. He brings out the Vision of Noxnyx and endeavors to understand how it might communicate. The artifact must have some way to understand him, as it responds to the views that he wishes to see. It may somehow read the unconscious signals of his mind that he himself never even thinks of when looking about. If that is the case, then it can read him. But how to turn that into communication? And even more daunting, how to understand the Vision in turn without it's ability to read such feelings? The Circle appears to have such an ability. But how can one develop it one's self? A difficult and time consuming project, if it is indeed possible at all.
[ BTW, who has the Circle? ]
The caravan has no weapons for barter or sale. And none of the guards wields the quarterstaff. But a stand of wood encountered in passing, yields a suitable quarterstaff for Peerimus. Slightly crooked, it is hardly a masterwork of craftsmanship. But the wood is hard and sturdy. And it's appearance is natural, fitting for a druid.
Jaeden is in a quandary, and seeks guidance from Peerimus. The druid, tells the warrior of the lands that they now find themselves in, and about how some of the group is connected too it.
Father Jasper councils Lady Silverhand. So far, she has said nothing. She watches with clear and open eyes. And yet she does not speak.
Evening comes. The Caravan Master places a large pot on an iron tripod over the central campfire. He fills it half full of the large thumb sized magic lentils. Then the rest he fills with water. As the water comes to a simmer, he makes a soft dough with some flour and fashions it into shapes. Flowers, lions, dragons and other animals, long banners, all forms of humanoid figures, rings, stars, and some simple balls. As he throws each into the pot they take on color, changing from plain white to pink and green, purple and orange, blue, red and yellow. Soon the air is filled with a mildly sweet smell. After a while, the pot brims with a thick green broth of lentils and sweet colored dumplings in various fantastic shapes.
"You see," the Silus the Caravan Master explains to Savin, "it would do no good to explain to you how the lentils are cooked. Because they respond to the will of the one who does the cooking. This is a dish my mother made at special times of the year. It has many memories for me. And the magic lentils have taken their flavor from my memories. Try it."
The broth is sweet, but not too much so. The lentils have a nutty flavor, complemented by the many colored dumplings.
"Alright! Now to the competition!" Silus Destin calls to the caravan after the evening meal has finished. "Champion against champion."
The guards are in a festive mood, they crowd around, calling out bets. Soon a rough circle is formed.
"As I do not wish any of my guards injured before they have satisfied the conditions of their employment ... (You're not getting out of your duties so easily, Jones.)" Silus Destin winks. "As I do not wish any of my guards injured, this will be a contest of counting coup. Touch with hands or feet. Dodge and block. You will fight for thirty seconds. The man who scores the most touches in thirty seconds wins."
"Hey, Greatsword," a brown face with a broad grin looks up at Jaeden from below. "My name is Kon. You have ten gold you want to lose? I'll give you even odds. Jones takes your man. What you say, Greatsword? Eh?"
=== OOC ===
Here's how this will run. Savin and Jones. Make 6 Dex rolls. Straight Ability, please remove any magic item bonuses. Then make 6 attack rolls. Again, remove any pluses from magical augmentation. Finally make 6 d2 rolls.
That's it. I'll paint a fight from it tomorrow.
BTW, if anyone else wants to bet on either of the combatants, there are guards who will take your bet. You may win a few gold, you may lose a few. No bets over 50 gp, please.
Father Japer Tuesday February 28th, 2006 11:45:16 PM
Still taking the time with the Lady Silverhand, When asked if he want to bet he will, put 5 gp on Savin as a token of faith in his friend not realy caring about the outcome, but more for the well being of the fagile ladys mind. He spends as much time with her as he can, If he is able he talks to Luke asking if he can spend a bit of time watching, and keeping the lady company as he seen that she opened up, or show affection to him in the past and it might help to open her back to the world . He also after seeing Peerimus and his love of nature when he can get the druid aside he gives him the small feather token " Here my friend I found this in my travels and I think that you could find beter use of it the me I am told that is will make a great oak to spring into being before your eyes, I have had it for a while and never found use but maybe you can so please take it as a gift my friend" He will also check with the wagon driver and see If there is anyone that that requires medical help eather magic or non if not he will go back to lady silverhands side.

Selena packs her armor and most of her weapons in her pack again putting on a silk green dress placing a dagger (her silvered one) in a string down her back. Selena spends many hours but herself, She allows the Priests to follow her and talk to her but is reluctant to speak, only direct questions that seem important does she answer, If approched but anyone other then the priest she retreats away, Selena looks ( but does not speak) to see if there are any of the caravan members that has a instrement, if there is someone playing anything she will spend time listining to the music again as silent as a mouse.

Sly Takes a portion for himself and another for Luke. Smells good. looking around for Luke, Sly spots him wrestling with Yurrick, "Yurrick!, Peerimus has food for you..." Sly had not even finish the sentance, that the bear ran toward Peerimus.
Sly sits and eats the stew, Very good food for a vegitarian stew, the dumpling are out of this wold, Hmmm! But his though turns to the female called Reena. I must find out who she really is, I must ask the wagon master Silus If she was born into his tribe?? and if he could speak to her.
As Luke eats his stew, Father Jasper pats him on the hear, asking the dog to go to Lady Salina. Luke eats on (in a barbarian way Sloppy!) He finishes his meal, drop th bowl next to Sly, run to Yurrick side (But Not too close after all the bear Is Eating!) Luke tell his friend about being petted by Lady Salina would be nice after the meal. Luke run to Lady Salina as she was dressing, taking the shape she's in (before she's in her dress) Luke Think I must be getting more human/ because I like what I see!!

Savin enjoys the stew very much and sits down next to the pretty redhead Reena. "Hello pretty lady. Do you always eat this well?" He will strike up a conversation with her flirting lightly until it is time for the contest.
When the time comes, he will stand up and call Jaeden over. He will slowly strip down to his leggings while appraising his opponent. "See anything in the way he walks that I should be worried about?" Savin then pulls out 5 gps and hands then to his fighter friend. "Go make a wager on me. My master always said gambling is bad but this way I won't be doing the gambling right?"

He enjoys the lentils. Then he takes off his shoes and gloves to ready himself for the contest. He really looks like he thinks the whole idea is really fun.

During the March...
While Peeriumus is correct that the names mean nothing, having an idea of his whereabouts in relation to the familiar is still helpful.
"Ah, I've heard mention of a 'continent' to the South. Never given it much thought though. This is truly a grand adventure we find ourselves on."
Their conversation continues and the Druid asks about his origins.
"Yes you're right. Kind of funny how circumstance has bound us together and yet we know next to nothing of each other."
He gives Peerimus an appraising look and seems to make a decision. "I was born and raised in Plateau City. My family was exceedingly wealthy and like most children of wealthy families I spent my youth going from teacher to teacher. Unlike most however, the bulk of my studies revolved around this," one hand reaches back to pat the hilt of his greatsword. "There was not much more to my youth as my father was quite obsessed with blades and did his best to pass that obsession to me. In the end his obsession came around to bite him in the ass. He and my mother still live in Plateau City and to my knowledge are healthy. They are, however, no longer wealthy."
For a while he walks in silence but the Druid's probing has opened something inside the man and begins speaking again.
"When my family lost it's wealth I was forced to make my way in the world. What I knew best was fighting. So I earned my coin with my blade. I realize now how fortunate I was with my first mercenary company. They were called the Ebon Dawn and the Commander was a man of good character. He was very picky about the commissions he took and as a result I never had reason to doubt my own actions or those of my peers."
"Unfortunately it didn't last. He died in a campaign and his death led to us being folded into a larger company. This new company was not so picky. Before long I was forced to confront the wrongness of our actions and I left... deserted in the middle of a stormy night. That was the most difficult thing I've ever had to do."
The conversation continues but Peerimus is sure that what he has just heard is the cornerstone of this warrior.
At camp...
Savin calls to him and he obliges by joining the monk while he's preparing. "Anything in the way he walks? Well, he moves as a man well balanced." He shrugs. "Approach with care."
He accepts the five gold from Savin and looks around for someone to wager with but in the end its someone else who finds him.
"Hey, Greatsword," a brown face with a broad grin looks up at Jaeden from below. "My name is Kon. You have ten gold you want to lose? I'll give you even odds. Jones takes your man. What you say, Greatsword? Eh?"
"Sure 'Kon with big smile'. I've got ten on it. Savin for the win." He motions to his longer time companion as he says this.

Firn'gaer Wednesday March 1st, 2006 4:10:34 PM
Rufus eats as much as his belly can hold. Satisfied, he lays belly up near Firn'gaer.
Ooo...that was good. I want to eat like that every day.
"The food was very good. Rufus gives his compliments to the cook." Rufus says after dinner.
While other talk of the up coming contest, Firn'gaer still spends his time with the Vision. This time, however, he gets the Circle as well.
"I've spent the better part of the day trying to decipher the patterns of Noxnyx and although there is method, I cannot determine what. Can you teach me how to communicate with Noxnyx?" He says to the sentient artifact.
Winners and Losers (DM/Al) Wednesday March 1st, 2006 9:51:57 PM
Flashback to the day. Father Jasper makes a present to Peerimus of a magic Feather Token, a symbol of the Druid's devotion to Nature. The Caravan Master later informs the outland cleric that none of his guards are injured at this time. Though, if they have ailments not acquired during this trip, he would not know of them.
Jaeden unburdens himself to Peerimus as well.
Then, over dinner, Savin chats up the very attractive and muscular Reena, while Sly speculates as to whether she may be someone else entirely. Reena appears to enjoy Savin's attention. She sits close to him as they dine. Her hazel eyes are dark and glistening, and her hands touch his shoulder, his arm, and his thigh as they exchange pleasant conversation together, both understanding that there is more there under the surface.
Jones appears a little potty, confusing Firn'gaer with Luke. Or, perhaps it's Luke with Firn'gaer. Or, maybe neither and both at the same time. Maybe his confusion has been caused by his many years with the tattoo. Or maybe it's just because of his many years. He is older. But certainly not as old as Father Jasper. Maybe he's just strange.
Firn'gaer spends the time with the Vision and the Circle.
"Well, I'm not sure, Firn'gaer Gyddyn," the Circle replies in a low voice clearly designed not to be heard by any but the wizard. "That is to say, it might be possible to teach you to speak to Noxy. If, say, you had a natural telepathic or empathic ability. Even then, it's not like your verbal languages. Those are easy. All they take is a few years a piece to learn. Could be better to try and teach him to understand you. Not that he can hear in the sense that you and I do. You know, no one has ever been interested in talking to Noxy before. Sometimes they aren't even interested in talking to me. You're a unique bunch. I think I'm going to like this."
Then the noise level in the camp rises by several degrees as everyone crowds around the circle of competition. Once again, Silus Destin lays down the ground rules.
"This is a contest of counting coup. Touch with hands or feet. Dodge and block. You will fight for thirty seconds. The man who scores the most touches in thirty seconds wins. I'll judge whether a touch counts or not. If you have something to say about it, talk to me later. But I charge for consultation time." The man grins.
The two monks enter the circle, stripped of their magic items.
Jones reacts first. A hand flashes toward Savin. Savin lifts his arm to fend the touch, but he isn't fast enough. First touch to Jones. 0 to 1
Savin counters immediately. Both men reach out and tag each other, Savin landing a touch across Jones' thinning hair and Jones coming around to touch Savin's shoulder. 1 to 2
The two men break. They weave. Then Jones darts in again and a flurry of exchanges ensues. Again Savin attempts to block. This time, he almost makes it. Almost. 1 to 3
Both men drive on to the offense. A double slap cuts the night air as both men catch each other across the face with the flat of their hands. A roar goes up from the small crowd that rings the circle. 2 to 4
Jones moves in, striking straight to the body. But Savin turns and the blow slides by. Savin's own blow goes over Jones' head as the shorter man, and the two cross, passing each other by. 2 to 4
The two men watch each other from across the circle. Thirty seconds is almost up. Savin leaps forward. He tags Jones with a clean thump to the chest. But at the same time, Jones clips his fellow follower of Domi near the groin. Not a solid blow by any means, but enough to count.
Final score Savin 2 - Jones 5.
With a wide grin, Kon wends his way through the crowd. "Ten gold?" he asks Jaeden. "You're man's a good fighter. But he's built more for strength, yeah? Sometimes a single punch is all you need. Thanks for the gold, eh? Better luck next time."
Father Jasper also loses five gold.
Sly loses two silver and wins two silver. There's something to be said for playing both sides.
Reena slides through the crowd to deliver Savin a consolation prize. She takes his hand and draws him to a place some distance from the main camp. There on the ground is her bedroll and her plate armor, neatly stacked. The clothing she wears does not take nearly as long to remove.
== OOC ==
Just in case you were interested, here are the rules of the competition.
Each round begins with an Initiative roll. If you win, you get +2 to your attack. But you cannot block. If you lose the Initiative, there is still the option to turn your attack into a block.
Each round has an Attack Roll. This represents the potential for your movement, whether it be attack or block.
Each round has a Disposition Roll. This represents the split second inclination toward Attack or Defense.
Attack with Init = Attack with +2 bonus Attack w/o Init = Attack as normal Defense with Init = Attack as normal. Defense w/o Init = Block /Use 1/4 your Attack roll to add to AC
Savin Wednesday March 1st, 2006 11:01:03 PM
Savin loses with grace and bows to the newest member of the Children of Chaos. "I am pleased to make your aquantaince. I believe I can learn a lot from you. Thank you for the session."
As Savin is led away by the beautiful Reena, he wonders what would have happened if he won! Still he enjoys his reward to the fullest, only having a slight pang when he thinks of Niobe. Still he is a young monk, so his memories of Niobe quickly fade.
Sly and Luke d20+1=20 Thursday March 2nd, 2006 7:13:14 AM
Sly watches the match, cheering for Savin touch and Jones attack on his part. "Hmm! He's a good fighter, he'll do well in this party!" Sly will collect his winnings, then goes to see the Wagon Master Silus , Bows then hand him his winnings, "Wagon Master May I have a few answers about the Female red hair guard in your caravan? The one you men calls Reena. Is she a member of your tribe? or did you just hire her? My last question Is May I speak to her in privet? With your permision of course. I think I have seen her before but I don't remember where!!" (Sly uses all the charm and deplomacy(rolled a 20) he can muster.)
Luke is still wrestling with Yurrick, The bear rooars, and the dog tell him, "Ahh Come you can do better!." Then bothe dog and bear runs into the woods.
Jaeden Ohm Thursday March 2nd, 2006 12:17:10 PM
With a shrug and smile Jaeden hands over ten gold to Kon, the man with a now even wider grin (5 gold of his own and 5 of Savins).
"Now that the entertainment is over," he askes the now 10gp richer caravan guard, "where can a man get a good drink?"
Jones Thursday March 2nd, 2006 2:28:17 PM
Jones grins again after the match and reaches out to shake hands with Savin, "Outstanding, you're very good. I'm glad you weren't swinging fists. I'm quite certain that would have hurt quite a bit. I have to say, you're gathering is most interesting too. Human gnomes, talking dogs, and druid bears. It all seems a bit surreal, but I've seen stranger things in my wanderings. Why, once while near the Crystal Mountains or was that it near the Red Hills, oh I can't remember, someplace with lots of climbing up and down I met a talking squirrel who insisted that he was a dwarf that drank something a funny little halfling had given him. I recall lecturing him a bit on taking drinks from halflings and..."
Jones keeps on blabbing as long as anyone will listen... maybe even a little longer.
Peerimus and Yorrick Thursday March 2nd, 2006 4:38:24 PM
Peerimus listens with interest to Jaeden and nods approvingly when the warrior speaks of his leaving of the company, but does not directly comment on it.
When Father Jasper presents him the oak tokken, Peerimus accepts it with a deep bow. "My thanks Father. I am sure a use will present itself."
Dinner is delicious and he makes sure that Yorrick gets all he wants. "A very interesting and delightful meal master Silus Destin." With the new found Quarterstaff, Peerimus with set about casting SpellStaf after dinner. Placing Commune with nature in the wood. he watches the contest and applauds both men in the sprirt the match is intended. All memory of the misread slight earlier gone.
Peerimus will find a spot by the fire as eveing turns night and will mostly listen to the stories of the others.

Firn'gaer Thursday March 2nd, 2006 7:17:29 PM
"I can't see why they wouldn't want to talked to you and Noxnyx. The things one could learn of the past would be amazing." He says to the circle.
"So what your saying is that if I were to have a spell that gave me empathy or telepathy then with your assistance I could learn to read Noxnyx and thus be able to communicate with it." he says with a little excitement in his voice. "Oh, this is right up my alley. Circle I think the three of us will be having talks in no time at all."
Firn'gaer finds the contest very amusing. As he sits watching the contestants he thinks of the others and their homecoming. His mind drifts back to his own home. He must have spent nearly a decade traveling the roads of New Elenna. A new place every few days or so. He stayed in just about every type of place one could imagine. A slight smile grows on his bearded face. He could remember how many bars and taverns had similar contests. He would watch with a mug in one hand and his pipe in the other. So vivid is his memory he can almost smell the sweat and ale of the contestants. Afterwards the winner would wobbled his way back into the bar while the loser slept off his hangover outside on the ground until his friends left and carried him off. Fond memories...
Drift Into Night (DM/Al) Thursday March 2nd, 2006 8:47:29 PM
Kon takes a sly look about for Caravan Master Destin.
"No drinking on duty." But the little man's furtive looks belie his words, and reveal his intentions. "We are here to stand watch over his caravan!" Kon gestures for Jaeden to follow as he moves away from the fire and into the night. "This is a sacred duty, as we have already accepted monies." Facing away from the fire, the dark faced man draws the top of a bottle from the breast of his armor, just enough to allow Jaeden to see.
They make their way to a small stand of brush, the little man preaching the virtues of devotion to job and loyalty to employer every step of the way. Fortunately, it is in the opposite direction from that in which Reena had taken Savin.
"Glass grass wine," Kon whispers, when they're out of earshot. He brings out the bottle. "From the Sargrass Plains." He pops the cork and takes a drink. Then, with a satisfied Ahhhh ... he hands the bottle to Jaeden. The drink is smooth, with a warmth that builds slowly, growing to a fiery burn. It is several seconds before the effect rises to Jaeden's brain, wrapping it in a hazy heat. They make good stuff down here.
On the other side of the camp, Savin discovers that Reena is even stronger than she looks. She is passionate and aggressive, soft skin over hard muscle. In the morning, he will find her teeth marks upon his shoulder where she had bitten down to keep from crying out.
Sly Foxx, meanwhile, broaches the subject of the very same woman with Caravan Master Destin.
"She ... " He presses the silver coins back into Sly's hands. "She is no more than one of my guards. Reena Marin has a reputation as top notch guard and fighter. But this is the first time I've had call to hire her."
"You don't need my permission to speak with her. She's a guard. No less than any of my other guards. More so, I'd say, as she could probably put down near all of the other men in the column." Silus looks out into the darkness.
"Though, I think it might be better if you spoke with her tomorrow. She's a striking woman. If you've seen her on the street somewhere before, I wouldn't doubt you'd remember her."
Peerimus, Firn'gaer, Father Jasper, and Lady Silverhand remain within the camp. Jones begins one in a series of stories, sparking tales from other guards as well.
The moons rise over the Wold. The night of early spring is quiet, the insects of summer have yet to be born. Soon comes time to retire. Some guards head for bedrolls, others for their shift at Watch.

Sly takes out his bow, string it and with a quaver of arrows, then climb the tree. Set himself on a sturdy branch, And keeps watch.(he only need four hours of sleep.) At sun rise, Sly see Savin comming out of the wood and start to make breackfast. Sly knows what has happen, smiles to himself,"If he was with Regena! Savin is going to remember this night for the rest of his life!"
But Sly will stay on his perch until he see her come out of the woods, He know better to go over to her when she's sleeping, she'd would try to take his head off!. He Smiles at old memories and waits.
Luke grows tired, now tries to locate Sly. "Sniff Sniff" he finds the scent that leads him to the tree. He look up and sure enough there is Sly on guard duty. "Oh! Well! I'll sleep right here then." Luke curl himself into a soft ball of fur, then slipps off to sleep.

As is often the way of fighting men the evening hours are whittled away with talk past campaigns punctuated by the occasional shot of drink, in this case Glass Grass Wine.
Firn'gaer Friday March 3rd, 2006 5:52:09 PM
[OOC: Jon, glad to hear everyone is doing well. Congratulations!]
Firn'gaer begins to contemplate a spell that will allow him to learn to communicate with the Vision of Noxnyx with assistance from Circle (does it have an actual name?). He does for a good part of the evening before he looks to settle in for the night.
He moves next to Peerimus and Yorrick and finds a spot next to them on the ground. "Do you mind?" He says to the druid before sitting. "I think I might be able to learn to speak to the mirror." He says getting comfortable. "I guess speak isn't really correct; communicate is more of what it is. From what I understand, when I concentrate on a moving that view in the mirror, reads my thoughts and moves the view as I request. The Circle is able to read Noxnyx's thoughts and therefore understand. I think with a spell of similar nature, I'll be able to learn how to understand Noxnyx and thus communicate," He says and there can be heard a bit of excitement in his voice, "Very exciting stuff."
"I have to admit, when I first got captured by the orcs and met you and the others, I was a little upset. I mean I was swept into this whole destiny thing with the Crones and the marks. It was a little overwhelming as I'm sure it is for the newest members right now. But as time has passed and we survived the things we've seen, it becomes easier. Then earlier this evening during the contest and I was remembering my homeland, I remembered what it was that I really enjoyed. It was exactly what I've been doing. Seeing new places, meeting new people, handling new challenges all the things I did when I traveled the roads of New Elenna and I think I realized that maybe this isn't a curse after all, but just another opportunity to see new places and meet people. Maybe, just maybe, I'm where I wanted to be all along." He finishes and just continues to stare at the sky until he falls asleep and dreams. Dreams of places he's been and of places he'll go.

Arrival In Heranmar (DM/Al) Sunday March 5th, 2006 9:12:29 PM
The land holds a stillness all its own. And this night holds a warmth that speaks of the coming summer.
As quiet settles over the camp and the moons climb to apogee, the group beds down for the night. All forgo the Watch, leaving things to the caravan guards. They are, after all, paid for such duty. All forgo the Watch, except that is, for Sly Foxx. Excitement burns within his brain. They are home again. Soon to approach Heranmar. It was very near the city that he first met this group, the group that would become the Southern Lights, and then, as Destiny took up their trail, the Children of Chaos. It is a homecoming. And Sly sees home in all things.
Savin wakes next to Reena who had returned to bed after a midnight watch. A hot spiced breakfast tempts the entire camp from their bedrolls.
Reena appears from between the wagons. Her hair is damp from a brief washing, and water still glistens upon her face. There is the creak of leather fastenings as she walks in her heavy plate mail. She turns with a startled look, waylaid by the half-elven Bladesinger.
"Speak your piece, Sly Foxx," she replies, her eyes level and candid. "Though I can't imagine where I'd have met you. It's not everyday that one meets half-elf. And unless I was blind drunk, I think I'd remember."
"By the by ... that's Ree-na," she says, breaking the name into syllables. "Reena Marin."
(You may backpost if you'd like to pursue this, Sly. But, to tell you the truth, Reena is a name I took from a character in another completely unrelated game.)

After breakfast, the caravan packs up and moves on. The day is much the same as the day before. At times, the even blue line of the sea can be seen over the hills to the west. As the group passes other caravans and small parties bound both north and south, it becomes readily apparent that the Caravan of Silus Destin has a superabundance of highly competent guards. To Jaeden's practiced eye, many of the guards are at least as competent as he. And from the display the morning before it is clear that Marten is something entirely special. All this, for lentils? Magic or not. Could this have to do with the second Chaos signature?
With the Children of Chaos along as well, the Caravan seems almost a procession.
The day passes on the road. Noon comes and goes. The sun is half way on its descent to the horizon when the caravan emerges from a small stand of woods, and there, against the sparkling backdrop of the great ocean, is the walled town of Heranmar. The road winds past a run down abbey. A pretty blond girl stands at the back of the Abbey, a distant figure shielding her eyes to watch as the caravan passes.
The group enters the city walls just before dusk. They make their way through the streets to the center of town. Various shops are closing their doors for the night. Warm lights come on in the windows of a nearby inn. The caravan stops before a stable.
"Alright. We're here, and you have my thanks all of you for the getting here." Silus Destin stands at the seat of the wagon and holds our his hands. He smiles. "But, I expect that you'll be wanting more than just my thanks, eh? I'll not be needing your services any longer. So why don't we see to the good part, eh? Your wages."
The guards crowd around the lead wagon.
Reena seizes Savin by the arm and pulls him in for a fierce kiss. "I'll see you at the inn later." She winks and then she's gone.
Hands emerge from the stables. One by one the guards wander off with their pay. Most wander in the direction of the inn. Marten remains with the wagons. The sun rides low on the horizon. Night comes to Heranmar.
[ Jones, you receive 750 gold in wages. Note that this is many times a years wage for your average commoner. ]
Lady Silverhand (sub jon) + Father Jasper Monday March 6th, 2006 8:55:52 AM
Lady silverhand spends some time watching the guards take there pay and then heads into town with a few things on her mind that she needs The Ladys heads first for a market to see what she can find, if there is one she will stop and look for someone seling animals ( forgot the right name) if anything is found that she like she will haggel the price as much as she can. Her next stop will be to a weapons smith to see if anything she likes ( looking a daggers and bows for the most part) .. Depending on the time she will walk to the inn and see what is going on there.
Father Jasper . As always with any town that Jasper stops his first stop will be a temple . as he is not sure what temples are here he ask for directions to the nearest one .. if none then he with try to find a hostital or place where the sick gather. Along the way Jasper will see if there is a shop selling potion compounds but will only note the shop and continue to the temple .
Jones Monday March 6th, 2006 9:38:18 AM
Jones wonders Silus was carrying that he was able to pay so much. Then he lets the thought slip away. After all, caravan guard was a more honorable profession than many others.
Before heading to the inn himself, he asks the Children, "So where are all of you planning to go from here?"
Sly and Luke Monday March 6th, 2006 12:58:24 PM
Sly replies to Reena, "Then I'm mistakes! The maiden I'm looking for is a Gyspy Girl with the most beautiful eyes. I shall bother You no longer!" Sly finish his breackfast, then readies himself to go to Heramnar, "I wonder if it is still as friendly as the last time we went in, We chase away their elbino Vampire!"
Luke ask sly "Who She?"
Sly answers "Some one I though I knew!"
Off they go to the town of Heramna, evry thing seem all right, nobody notices them, So Sly will walk threw the town, Just to see if things has change or aare they still have a dislike for strangers.
Answering Bro Jones,"There's a little tavern about a little way before the City gates, I don't remember the name. They are known for Good Food, Good Ale and Clean rooms. Come I'll show you. I hope they are still there?"
Peerimus and Yorrick d20+17=24 d20+21=25 d20+10=23 d20+6=12 d20+13=27 d20+6=20 Monday March 6th, 2006 3:09:40 PM
"By all means," Peerimus replies to Firngaer as the wizard strolls up. "Lovely sky tonight, we have seen so many as of late. Ever wonder why the stars above us now are so different than those above Turtle Lake? My mother, my birth mother now, used to tell tales of the Immortals and Powers and their homes. Always the tales were linked to the stars. I, of course, thought them just fire stories, but now seeing the great differences...I wonder agian."
Peerimus listens to the gnome and can not help but smile as the excitement builds in Firngaers voice over the prospects of not only working on a new spell but of being the first to 'speak' withthis ancient artifact. As the conversation turns to the 'Curse' or 'Destiny' depending on your view, Peerimus again found himself in heightened spirits at Firngaers' 'discovery'. "That is an interesting point. I myslef sought out the others and I think I am unique in that manner of joining into this grand adventure. I was not whisked away, or pulled in or anything like that. Yorrick and I heard the whispered calls of Father and we followed to divine the source and where he wanted us to be. Champion against the avatar of chaos I may now be, but I am also champion of the natural wold. Between the poisoned vampire tree, the assault on Floating City and the rest. Father has placed me in a position of great importance I think."
Morning's rays find Peerimus strecthed upon the dew covered ground, a rare sight of oversleeping. Groggily he stretches and sits up. Yorrick shifts, rises as well and heads directly to Savin and the food. Peerimus chuckles, 'Silly ol'e bear' and then clams his mind and prepares the divine rituals as set by his cabal.
The number of men guarding the caravan and the high level of skill they all seem to posses has the druid on edge, but it takes him a while to place it. After breakfast while the wagons are hitched he approaches Firngaer, "If you have discreet moment and only if you have one, See if The Vision can pinpoint the artifact in this caravan. Just before we arrived I thought you said you had 2 right on top of each other. Now that we are this much closer..." he lets the thought hang there.
Arrival a the town brings memories back all right. It was at this gate that he and Shiraz came to thier mutual understanding of each other. "Go with Sly and Luke my friend, I will be along later." Peerimus bids Yorrick to guard Luke and then finds an out of sight street to shift into a hawk. A few quick flaps, puts him up over the parked caravan where he hopes to spy the caravan master and any others that might happen along. Peerimus plans to ride th evening currents until dark and then continue his impromtu stake out in cat form near the wagons. spot 25 hawk Hide 23 cat MS 12 cat Spot 27 cat Listen 20 cat
Savin Monday March 6th, 2006 4:32:11 PM
Savin accepts his kiss and smiles as the strong redhead heads out, thinking with pleasure at the night ahead. He hears Jones question and shrugs his shoulders. "I don't make the big decisions. Peerimus is our leader and normally gives us our diretion....Firn'gaer, what does your magical friend tell you. Are we close to any of our goals?"
Firn'gaer d20+7=19 Monday March 6th, 2006 8:18:57 PM
Firn'gaer wakes the next day refreshed and with new purpose. "Today is going to be a good day, I can feel it."
"Give me a second. I'll get it out in one second." Firn'gaer finds a place out of the bustle of the wagons and takes out Noxnyx. He checks the immediate area and then asks Noxnyx if it can show him a view of the next piece. If it works he'll see if Noxnyx can pan back to show him the piece in relation to their location.

All Roads Lead to The Inn (DM/Al) Monday March 6th, 2006 10:14:28 PM
Lady Silverhand wanders out into the deepening dusk. Doors are closing for the night. The carts of vendors are already rolling away down the street. The few that turn her way, say nothing. They merely give her an appraising look and turn away. There is no place left to go except the inn.
Father Jasper finds things equally unrewarding. There are no temples. He stops a man in the street to ask direction.
"No temple," comes the man's brusque reply. "We don't hold no truck with your outland gods," he says, and pulls away without another word. Without a temple to go, there is only the inn.
Jones falls in with the tattooed group. "Where to go from here?" The question of the hour. None seem to really know for sure. Right now though, the inn beckons. Sly knows where it is. It's the same old place. The lamps are just being lit inside and the smell of food drifts from within the doors. Luke and Yorrick are up for it as well. Peerimus slips away, and up a dark side street, becomes a hawk.
Before they proceed to the inn, Firn'gaer draws the Vision from his haversack. It makes no response to his speech, but where the wizard's eyes move, so appears to turn the view upon the screen. The view moves swiftly as Firn'gaer looks up and down. Jones glows bright with color. Firn'gaer's own hand as well. Savin and Sly are both extra bright because of the things they carry. Then, suddenly, the view pans back taking in the square and the small colorful cluster of figures that represent the Children of Chaos. At different points are Lady Silverhand and Father Jasper, they are both visible in the lowering gloom.
And there is one more. The Caravan Master, Silus Destin, he lights up as brightly as any of the Children of Chaos.
Up above, Peerimus sees the wall circling the city. The vast ocean stretches out to the west with the sun sinking swiftly below the horizon. To the east is the stand of woods from which the caravan had earlier arrived. Against the dark stand of woods is the abbey. All seems peaceful. The Caravan Master speaks with the a man who must be the stable owner. He oversees the storage of the cargo. This does take some time. And soon, it will become too dark to safely land.
Peerimus descends and becomes a cat. Peerimus the cat sees nothing untoward. No one appears to pay him much heed. Sitting quietly nearby he overhears the Caravan Master stating that he will need to board his horses for four days. Then, Silus Destin, the Caravan Master, leaves his horses and wagons in the care of the Stable Master, and he heads for the warm yellow lights of the inn. Raucous laughter drifts out from inside.
Sly and Luke Tuesday March 7th, 2006 7:13:34 AM
Sly, Br, Jones, Luke and Yurrick Turn down the little street. There is the Oak Leaf Tavern, it has grown since Sly was here, But a welcome sight none the less.
Sly speaks to Br Jones, "This is the place we were when the witches came to tell us of the bell, What bell you ask? The Chaos Bell the we prevented the Fea King from ringing it, That's when Lady Justice told us that WE were now the Bell, that we were both Saviors and Distroyers. That became our job , we put down the Chaos in this Wold where ever we find it. Now let's go in, have some thing to eat and a place to sleep. The others will be along shortly, because It's the only Tavern and Inn in town!" Sly smiles to Br Jones.
Luke ask in his own lovable way, "Soup Bone for me? and Yurrick?"
Sly looks up and see Yurrick walking behind his friend Luke. Sly laugh telling Yurrick, "Come over here, you big nut! You cannot hide behind Luke? He's not big enough YET! Some day He'll be as big as you." Now they all enter the Inn.
Savin Tuesday March 7th, 2006 8:34:13 AM
Savin wanders around town for a couple of minutes but quickly becomes bored, he heads over to the Inn. He askes for a private room, thinking of Reena and the pleasures to come. He will then head to the tap room and order an ale, sit down and look at the other patrons.
Firn'gaer Tuesday March 7th, 2006 9:44:32 AM
"Are you sure? Very Good." He says aloud to Noxnyx.
He will make a quiet comment to Peerimus before they leave. "Silus has an item. I think we should find lodging and then discuss how we are approach him to acquire it. Explains Jones' presence here. Try and learn if he plans to stay in the area for long. Gives us a time table."
He finishes his conversation and moves off towards the town. "Alright, I want a hot bath hot food, fresh pipe weed and some quiet time."

Peerimus and Yorrick Tuesday March 7th, 2006 11:53:58 AM
The large Kodiak follows Luke across the deserting streets to the Tavern. He pulls up short at the door however, a minor complaint about entering on his muzzle. It definately seems that he prefers to stay out on the front porch
Peerimus watches and listens to Silus and then springs off to find a private shifting spot. Back in human form, Peerimus moves to the tavern as well to met with the others. Arriving he scoops Yorrick with a wide arm, 'It will be all right friend, I remember last time as well.'
Peerimus moves across the tavern with Yorrick on his left heel, his staff in his right hand, he sits with the others. "You will need rooms for 4 nights to start with." The druid has dinner, orders a triple portion for Yorrick. "I recall a nice small glade in the wood with a stream just a mile out of the main gate and just north. Yorrick and I will be there and will meet you again here in the morning. We can discuss things then. For tonight we are merely unwinding and relaxing after a few days on the road."

"Witches? Chaos Bell? Fae King? Saviors? Destroyers?"
Jones looks a bit perplexed.
"I have no idea what any of you are talking about, but it sounds like more fun than walking beside a wagon all day."
Savin "illegal post" Tuesday March 7th, 2006 9:10:40 PM
Savin hears Jones' comments while drinking his beer and spits beer through his nose gagging and coughing. When he finally gets his composure, he will say, "Well first thing creature we fought when I found myself with this band was a red dragon. Then vampires, golems, crazy mages and many more. Hope you like the excitment."
Jaeden Ohm Tuesday March 7th, 2006 9:14:32 PM
Leaving the Caravan...
There is much in the Wold that Jaeden Ohm doesn't know, but appropriate wages for hired swords is not on that list. Witnessing the seemingly rediculous sums the guards are paid Jaeden calls his new buddy over.
"Hey Kon, looks like you're off duty now. Care to join me and my group at tavern for a few drinks?"
Regardless of the answer the warrior decides to ask about the wages without guild. "So ah... I noticed the Guards were getting quite a bit more then I'm used to seeing this kind of work pay. Is this normal for this place or is there something special about this journey?"
Arriving in town...
Arriving at the town Jaeden follows the group going to the Tavern. If Kon is along he continues in companionly conversation during the trip.
Jaeden Ohm Continued Tuesday March 7th, 2006 9:20:58 PM
At the tavern...
Jaeden looks at Jones and smiles, fairly certain that the man doesn't yet understand the situation he's landed in. "You know, Jones, that tattoo you've got isn't an accident. Nor is it coincidence that we all share the same. I'm not sure I'm the best to explain all this... but now you're one of us, for better or ill."
He pauses in his talk to take a long pull of beer. When the mug thuds against the table he looks around to his companions. "Anyone want to tell the whole story? I could stand to hear it again myself."
Restless Natives (DM/Al) Tuesday March 7th, 2006 10:07:24 PM
"Sure. Be along in just a bit," Kon replies. Then the little man lowers his voice. "Easiest job I've ever had," he whispers. "Who's going to want a few wagons full of beans? Old man Destin must have something else. But for this money, I can pretend I'm not curious." He smiles and disappears down the street.
With tales and a light air that comes with being in places well known, the motley group makes it's way to the inn. Savin rushes ahead. He's in the door and across the room before any of the patrons seated around the room can turn their heads.
The innkeeper looks up, startled to see a man at the bar who had not been there just a moment ago. Other heads at the various tables around the room also begin to turn.
"A room, sir?" the innkeeper replies automatically, the surprise still not washed from his face. "A room's five pieces of silver, sir. In advance, sir." Before the innkeeper can say more, there are five silver pieces on the bar, and he can do no more than look down and count them with his mouth still hanging open.
The rest of the group arrives with Firn'gaer in the rear. The Vision gives no reply to his attempts to speak.
The Children of Chaos make quite a sight at the door to the inn. Yorrick fills the entire doorway. Savin and Jaeden are on their first mug.
The rest of the common room is unnaturally silent. All eyes, in fact, are turned unabashed in the direction of the group. In one corner sit a dozen men. They wear worn working clothes and their skin is browned by the sun, the wind and the water of the docks. They stare with sullen dislike at the newcomers. The innkeeper as well looks up from the five coins on the counter.
"I'm sorry," he calls across the common room. "We can't have animals inside."
There's the scrape of wood against wood as a chair is pushed back, and from the midst of the group of dockworkers rises a man nearly as tall as Shiraz had been.
"We don't like your little elves and short gnomes in here either," the large man says with a slur to his voice. There are multiple squeaks and slides as a dozen chairs are pushed back and all of the men come to their feet. Sibilant whispers are exchanged between the men and they stare at the Children of Chaos with suspicion and dislike.
"Crispen, get you men out of here night now or I'll no longer allow you in here!" the innkeeper shouts.
"You lot," he points at the Children of Chaos, "I said no animals inside. I run a clean peaceable place. You're welcome, but if you break that peace, I'll call the watch and throw you out of my tavern!"
Another man, with a sour distrusting face, detaches himself from the knot of men. He glares at the Children of Chaos, but he gives no word for his men to disperse. They square off, without an inkling as to the danger they face.
Firn'gaer Wednesday March 8th, 2006 7:05:48 AM
"Very well." He says not really to anyone in particular. "I have a shelter spell left," He says to the others, "I'll stay with Peerimus and Yorrick for the night and perhaps tomorrow we can find more suitable accommodations. If that's alright with you." He looks at Peerimus. "Luke your more than welcome to come with me. I plan on picking up a few things in town before settling in. And you can come too, if you wish, Sly." He gives a smirk to Sly. "I guess for that matter anyone who wants can come stay in the cabin."
"I'm relieve to hear that, Crispen. We don't like gnomes and elves either. So if you see any let us know and we'll deal with them. Here for you and your men." He reaches into his haversack and pulls out a hand-full of coins. Moving to the counter he places the coins, about 10 gp, "This should keep them in ale for a while." Turning back towards the drunks, "Next time you think to speak ill of gnomes remember the generocity of the little folk."

Savin Wednesday March 8th, 2006 7:20:38 AM
Savin sighs ands stands up. He saunters over to Crispen with a smile and says, "Good Sir we can handle this in either one of two ways. The first is I can stand you all a fine meal and a pitcher of ale. We can sing and dance and enjoy each others company. We can tell tales and see if some local wenches are feeling randy tonight.
The second way is we fight. I am sure you are strong and know you weapons well but we as a group have fought many foes. Vampires, dragons, golems just to name a few. So once we mop the floor with you, throw you out and drop a few coins on your heaving chests for a visit to the local healer, we will go one with plan A without you. Now my only concern is we might attract the attentions of the watch. We would have to answer all those pesky questions which might make me late for my date tonight.
I have a date with a beautiful redhead named Reena. I would be very put out if I had to miss it. We just met last night, but the relationship is one filled with promise." Savin's eyes go soft for a second. Then suddenly go very hard. "Yes I would be very put out if I had to miss that date. So put out, that I might find it necessary to look you up tomorrow. I would have all these pent up frustrations you see and I would have to take them out on you." The menance in Savin's voice is real. He steps back and says, "So what is it gonna be, some song, wenches, beer and food or broken bones and a jail cell?"
Savin will step back and smile at the bartender. "Sir, I will make a wager with you. If my dog friend can stand up on his hind legs and ask for a beer, he and the bear get to stay. Is that agreeable?"
Savin keeps an eye on the group for any actions

Firn'gaer (Second) Wednesday March 8th, 2006 7:29:53 AM
Savin tries to convince the innkeeper to let the animals stay. "Honestly, Savin, it's fine. I have quite a bit of work that I've neglected for far too long and I can use the peace. Besides I'd like at least one day to pass before trouble finds us." He glances at the drunks, "Ok, find us and gets worse."
Sly and Luke Wednesday March 8th, 2006 8:35:46 AM
Sly smiles at both of his friends, He rises to his feet, talks to his friends first, "Hold your money for a second. These natives has forgoten their history."
Then he turns to the bad tempered dock workers, he will remind them of the days when the Childern of Chaos was born here in this very tavern. "When I first came here to this town, It was the first time I left home!, I was told by the Lady Justice ans her four Sisters, to go to the old church and bring back the people in there to this Inn. I did so and it started to rain!
Remember that? you dock workers blamed us for that bad weather, because we were diffrent and you all wanted to kill every one of us. As the bunch of you threw rocks There came a voice that told you people to Stop! And the rock stop in mid air!
Do you remember that? It Was Lady Justice with Lady Wisdon and Lady Sorrow. She told all of you that she was here to WELCOME both the Saviors and the Distroyers, and pointed to our party. She then look at the leader of the unrully mob, a big man much like you Sir!(Sly points to the leader of them) he was frozzen to his spot and then before your eyes a lock of his turn white for ever more!
You better remember that man, because WE are here again to save your Port, we are here to see the Five ladies again to get our orderd."
With out turning his back on the angry mob, he tells Luke, "Luke go order me a BEER, will you please!"
Luke get up and truts to the bar, putting his big frount paws on the bar, asking the bartender, "Beer For Master Sly!"
Sly tells Luke,"Maners Luke, Maners!"
Luke look the bartender in the eye, "PLEASE!" With an edge in voice.
Peerimus and Yorrick Wednesday March 8th, 2006 9:18:18 AM sigh, the wonders of civilization Peerimus looks over to the men standing and then to the bar keep. Apparently the recent events of the Wold have not taught these men much. It was a wonder any of thier ilk lived through it. Peerimus finds his mood souring, but dismisses many of the more rash thoughts in his head. Firngaer and Savin both begin to try and smooth the situation, the druid feels both attempts wil likely not avail them and may even make things worse. Informing egotistical drunk locals you will pound them to sand backed with boasts of dragon slaying is not a good move in Peerimus' book.
The druid stands and holds up his hand towards the barkeep, "You are quite right sir, my apologies. I have been in the wilds too long and this druid sometimes forgets." With a pat to Yorricks head, Peerimus moves to exit the tavern. He pays no heed to the drunks. Over his shoulder "Luke, you to and no argueing."

"Sly it is all right, I had no intentions of staying anyway. They are plyied with ale and a hard days work. No others I have met have been too much different."
Jones Wednesday March 8th, 2006 11:45:32 AM
Jones walks up beside Savin and pats him on the shoulder with a grin for the men at the table, "Good evening gentlemen." He gives a quick little bow. "Has it been a long day? I suspect that it has. Physical struggle is a fantastic way to release some of that tension. While a bareknuckled, chair swinging, glass breaking, table smashing, mirror shattering bar fight might accomplish that goal and be a good bit of fun besides, it wouldn't be doing the proprietor of the establishment any favors. However, if any of you would like some excercise, I'm sure that Savin or myself would be happy to step outside for a friendly little contest. Plus, if you'd like to bring a chair to smash or a mug to throw, I'd even be happy to pay the tavern for it before we go outside."
Then he adds to nobody in particular, "You know? That dog can talk."
Jaeden Ohm Wednesday March 8th, 2006 11:53:31 AM
With everything going on in the tavern Jaeden Ohm, alone in his realization of true priorities, sits and drinks with a smile.
"Ah this is great." He says to no one in particular. "So many taverns I've walked into I see this reaction.. finally I can sit back with my drink while others take care of it."
"Hey Savin, how about you and the big guy go outside for a scrap?"
He eyes the big man. "Surely you can handle a little fella like Savin here."
His wide grin shows plainly what he really believes.

Some Things Change. Some Stay the Same. (DM/Al) Wednesday March 8th, 2006 9:24:06 PM
The Iron Fist within the Smiling and Generous glove. The Children of Chaos play things out both together and in their own distinct fashion.
The dock workers eye the group with which they had picked a fight, several fighters more than they had anticipated. Several turn and glance nervously to either side, searching for other allies. Finally, the man identified as Crispin gives a sneer and brushes by Savin and Jones on his way out the door. The others follow suit, filing out one by one.
And so the resolution of this conflict resonates through time, echoing a scene from years gone by in which a small group, newly arrived from the north, encounters their first difficulties in the lands of the south. The people of Heranmar may ever be godless and leery of strangers.
The innkeeper stands staring at Luke, tongue lolling from his mouth. (Luke, not the innkeeper.) Then a curious look comes over his face. He looks at Luke, then turns his eyes to the Children of Chaos, searching for someone.
"Where's the other one? The woodsman? I remember this dog." The innkeeper shakes his head. "Alright. Your animals may enter. But I trust you have them trained not to leave their droppings indoors." He looks at Luke as if the thought has crossed his mind to ask the wardog to his face. Then he gives up on the idea. "And I won't have them up in the rooms. The stable's for animals."
Some things stay the same. But it looks like some things do change.
At that moment, Silus Destin appears. His head turns to follow the last of the dockworkers as they exit out the door. Behind him Reena and Kon enter, each carrying one end of a long wooden crate. Marten takes up the rear.
"Master Destin!" The innkeeper greets the Caravan Master with enthusiasm. "Welcome. Welcome. I heard that you were due in."
"And I've come bearing magic lentils." Kon and Reena take the crate behind the bar. The Caravan Master grins and hooks a thumb in the direction of the door. "Crispen causing trouble for my friends here?" he asks.
A startled look once again overcomes the innkeeper's face.
"Your friends?" he asks. "You know Crispen. If he looks to liking anybody it's a sure sign he's not well. And any friend of Master Destin is welcome under my roof." The innkeeper gestures to the Children of Chaos. "But I still can't have animals up in the rooms, if you don't mind."
"Food and drink for the entire lot," the Caravan Master declares. "And I'll need a room for four days, if you have one."
"The usual room is open," the innkeeper replies, and hurries off to fill the order for food and drink.
Reena slips in beside Savin, and Marten and Kon find a seat at different table.
"So, what are your plans from here on out, my teleporting friends?" Silus Destin asks in a jovial manner. "If you need to resupply, I know a man with local branch of a trading company called The Catacombs. He serves all of the local needs, and I can take you there tomorrow."
A tense situation has cleared, and once again the night is filled with homecoming. Food and drink arrives. The moon rises over Heranmar.

Alright, down time as you are used to it, begins now. It's generally my policy to force you to make your own downtime, because who knows when things are truly safe? Crisis comes when it wants. But, for now, I promise not to spring anything on you for at least three days, game time. That's three days to role-play, catch up all members of the party on the story as you know it, resupply, rest, study, whatever you need.
Of course, I have left some loose ends hanging. Feel free to go about investigating those over the course of the next few days as well. I will respond to all investigations IC.
You're also all due for some XP. I've been planning this for several weeks, but haven't had the time to put it together. Hopefully between now and Sunday. Great Role-playing all. ^_^
Savin Wednesday March 8th, 2006 10:06:54 PM
Savin looks at Reena and smiles. He is trying to think of something witty to say but a grin keeps slipping over his face and the words just won't come. Finally he asks, "Can I get you something to drink? You know this establishment better than I do, is their entertainment at night? I would like to dance. Haven't danced in a long time."
OOC...we really didn't get any loot this time right? Know we got another artifact but no new money correct?
Sly and Luke Thursday March 9th, 2006 7:19:57 AM
Sly goes to the bar, but he does not turn his back on the mumbling Dock workers. "Thank you Luke! for ordering my beer, Now I want you to relax and have fun while were here. So why don't you go and have a good time with Yurrick?"
Luke listens to Sly, ask "Rest? with Yurrick? Yes! You be Good? Me go!" Luke runs after Peerinus and Yurrick.
Sly watches Luke going out the door, turn to the Inn Keeper, Puts a gold piece on the bar "I'll be staying for rour days! Give this beer to the dwarf, I drink Elven Wine, If you don't have any then give me Goats Milk.
And Yes when we were here Last! the dog was much smaller and he did belong to Trace the Archer, We lost him in the Great Race a few years ago! I'll be sitting with the rest of My Friends."
Sly sits with the Children of Chaos who are staying in the Inn, Sly kooks aroung then tell the others, "This place has changed very little, except the traffick around here!"
Jones Thursday March 9th, 2006 10:26:06 AM
Jones makes a mental note to start up a conversation with the dog at the next available opportunity and takes a seat. "Water for me and some food. I'm starving. You'd think I wouldn't get hungry since I'm so short, but I think I use a lot more energy up than tall people. I have to walk twice as far as they do."
Jaeden Ohm Thursday March 9th, 2006 12:52:00 PM
"You may be right there Jones..." Jaeden says with a laugh. The warrior is sounding a bit louder then usual. "Always seems like its the little guys that can out eat everyone else. Guess now we know why."
He turns to Peerimus, "Peerimus, do you mind if Dalek comes with you? I think he'd be more comfortable out with you then in the stable."
Would you prefer that Dalek?
A mental touch of affirmation is his answer.
"Well then... back to business."
Another pull from his beer...
Firn'gaer Thursday March 9th, 2006 4:12:38 PM
"I'm still coming with you." He says to Peerimus. "I'll need the quiet for some work I've put off for too long and the break is what I need for catch up. First lets eat and relax we'll head out in a little bit. How's that sound."

Peerimus and Yorrick Thursday March 9th, 2006 4:41:11 PM
Peerimus stops as more and more of his friends step up to defend Yorrick and then he casts another look at those across the way. So wary and untrusting of strangers, but so quick to alienate and make enemies of them. Pity The situation resolved even to the point of Yorrick being given blessing to stay gets Peerimus's head bobbing. The bar keep has reminded him that not all men are weak.
Peerimus sits back down and gives Yorrick a pat, "You have nothing to fear of a mess from any here good man. While you accomadations are surely wonderful, I meant what I said about staying outside. Yorrick and ,yes Jaeden i would be happy to watch over Dalek as well, will be with me."
Silus's entrance and composure hits the druid a bit sideways. Noxnyx had placed the next artifact sqaurely with this man and all the others they had encountered thus far had most certainly not been very stable. Perhaps a visade, perhaps not. After ll they were walking about with the artifacts and none of them were insane wizards or such. But what noee? Just bring it up in conversation right here? Why not? Because it may start a powerful confrontation and destroy the local countryside. No right now we sit on it and enjoy an evening without violence.
Peerimus puts on an easy face and smiles, "Where to from here? Don't rightly know. Our journeys are not what you would call well planned out as far as where we go. Firstly I think we plan to spend some time and money here. I know Firngaer is itching to do some personal work with his studies."
For this moment with Silus, Kon and Reena about, Peerimus is not going to go into the entire story of the Chaos avatar and their role in his hopeful defeat. INstead he hoists a glass into Jaeden's mug, "To business then." The druid commences to sending the entire mug of Ale down his throat.

Entertainment (DM/Al) Thursday March 9th, 2006 9:51:37 PM
Eat, Drink, and be Merry. For Tomorrow ... will be Tomorrow.
There's elven wine in addition to the ale. Reena orders a drink called a Green Gnomish. She laughs when Savin asks about entertainment.
"In this town? We'd be lucky to get a smile." Reena takes a pull from her gnomish and her eyes roll for a moment. "But watch this," she says after she recovers.
"Kon? Did you bring your drum?"
A broad grin spreads across the little man's face as he turns from his conversation with Marten.
From his pack he pulls a small hourglass shaped drum, and an even smaller tambourine on a stick. The brass chatters on the tambourine as Kon waves it in the air.
ton, ton, ton, ton
The small man begins with a simple rhythmic beat.
ton, toka, ton, toka, ton, toka, ton ton, toka, ton, sshik, toka, ton, toka ton, toka, ton, toka, ton, toka, ton
tik-tik tik t-tik tik t-tik t-tik tik tik t-tik tik t-tik
Alternating between a thumping of the drum head and a taping of the wooden drum body Kon varies the rhythms. Then, dancing in circles, he adds the sound of his feet in stomps and shuffles. He adds an occasional slap of his palms against table or bar. Spinning in circles, the small man creates a multi-layered tapestry of rhythm and percussive sound.
Some of the other patrons clap their hands, adding to the weave. And the night rolls on.
There are plans for later in the night. The grove to the north waits to nestle those who would sleep, but until that time, the moons rise on their way to meet Midnight.

Savin grins as he sees the drum emerge and pulls out a beautiful set of ivory pipes. He winks at Reena and says, "Found these in a dragon hoard. Big red one. Nasty. Ask Sly about his ferret he found there but don't let him show it to you! Its cursed."
Savin then puts the pipes to his lips and musical notes pour forth. The are a counterpoint to the drum and enhance the music. Skill roll of 23
(Al I only took 4 ranks for now. +1 for charisma and +2 for a masterwork item.)
Savin will put down his pipes and then pull Reena to her feet and lead her to the dance floor. He will start dancing with her but stumble over her feet and land on his butt. He will look up at here with a embarrassed smile and say, "Guess you would never know I was a fleetfooted monk. Guess your beauty just knocks me off my feet!"

As the beat progresses and infuses the souls of the inns patrons Jaeden stands and dances the small and limited steps he's comfortable with. His motion is more like a cross between marching and stomping then dancing but the man is happy so who cares.
Each time Kon puts emphasis on a beat by elongating the following silence Jaeden thrusts his arm (mug still in hand) into the air and gives a shout. "EYH!"
Despite the warriors earlier show of self control, it is clear he's feeling the beers effects. His next actions leave no doubts to the fact.
He puts his beer down, grabs both of Luke's forelegs, lifts until the speaking dog has no choice but to stand on his hind legs, and proceeds to dance with him.
Life is grand in the magical Wold.
Peerimus and Yorrick Friday March 10th, 2006 3:18:39 PM
Peerimus will spend just about all the money he has (20sp) on food and drink. Any sort of vegatable and meat he can get his hands on he buys and most of it goes to Yorrick. While the music is going, so is the druids foot, tapping out soft even measure with the drum. I diddy starts to form in his head, but he can't quite put the ending on it. The song will have to wait.
Peerimus will not be too long into the night before taking his leave, Yorrick and Dalek trailing behind him. The druid makes his way towards where he remembers the small stream and soft woods to get some sleep
Sly and Luke Friday March 10th, 2006 6:12:47 PM
Sly pour himself a little wine and is enjoying the music, when Jaeden grabs Luke and dances with the Dog.
Luke does not want to dance, he want to go with Yurrick, "Let go! Want to go with Yurrick!"
Sly would have let it go, But he knows Luke, when he want to do something, Luke has his own way to deal with borthersome Problems.
Sly goes to the Dancing Couple, "Friend Jaeden, Let Luke go with Yurrock and Darter, don't make him make a mess in here. Here I'm a better dancer anyway, dance with me instead!" Sly will dance with Jaeden, and Luke takes off to be with Peerimus and Yurrick.

About Town The Next Day (DM/Al) d100=38 Sunday March 12th, 2006 6:16:41 PM
The night passes. There's some music. There's some hijinx. There's some romance.
Reena laughs at Savin's circumstantial clumsiness, taking it as an intentional comic pratfall. The heat of the green gnomish swimming in her head, goes a long way toward making it appear so.
Father Jasper and Lady Silverhand take little part in the festivities. They wander the streets of Heranmar instead. The streets are dark and near all the buildings are shuttered and closed.
Peerimus collects the animals, and with Firn'gaer and Lady Silverhand, makes his way out the northern gate. The wooded glade is as he remembered it, with the stream running through. Firn'gaer conjures a small cottage, the mate of the one he had produced in the frozen canyon in Ice Vein.
One by one, the rest of the recent caravan retire to their respective rooms. Reena weaves her way up the stairs with Savin. The quiet of the town of Heranmar comes to the inn at last.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
The next day comes soon enough. Most especially to those who had indulged themselves in drink and dance the night before. The weather is clear, and a cool breeze comes in off the ocean.
Firn'gaer begins a day of intensive study necessary to prepare his mind to pen a new spell into his book. He is unlikely to budge from the magic cottage all day.
Silus Destin arrives in the common room with a smile and a hearty Good Morning for all. As promised, he directs the group to a shop along the southeastern edge of the city wall. Within, he says, "They are a gateway to the Catacombs." A strange turn of phrase to those who do not understand, but the words that he uses none the less. Over breakfast, he tells Reena, Kon, and Jones that his next trip is back to Hook City. Unfortunately, he cannot offer the same wages for the return trip. Considerably less, only a fraction of what they made on the way out in fact. But they are welcome to sign on, none the less. There would be safety in the numbers if nothing else.
Those who find themselves out and about, and those who are inclined to notice such things, might later see a young lady approach the Caravan Master as he arrives at the stables. Her hair is dark and tied back in a loose braid. Her clothing is as dark as her hair, and, as she turns, a generous expanse of flesh is revealed by the low "V" of her outfit.
It is Niobe.
Savin Monday March 13th, 2006 7:20:09 AM
Savin greets the caravan master and passes him a cup of coffee. He gives him an intense stare almost like he is trying to read his soul.
"Sir, If I may have a moment of your time. You know little of our group so if you will allow me a few moments, I will explain our purpose to you."
Savin will quickly go over thier history from when he joined the group, telling how the crones move them around, and the good they have done batttling evil creatures. He will then explain that they are searching for 6 artifacts that will help them defeat the avatar of chaos, who if left unchecked would destroy the Wold as they know it.
"Good Silus...for some reason, our research has led us to you. We know you are a good and fair man and we would never take the item we search for by force from one such as you. Still the aquiring of this artifact is of utmost importance. Can you tell us anything of it?"
Later...When Savin sees Niobe, he will dart over to her and give her a huge hug. "Niobe! Your back! It is wonderful to see you! You must tell us of your adventures."
Sly Monday March 13th, 2006 7:20:48 AM
Sly is the last to go up stairs, He will sit out side the common room where the others are sleeping. Because he wants to keep an eye of those sleeping, either in the big room or the ones that have privet rooms. He'll sleep with his sword on his lap and his back to the wall, So that anybody coming either up the stairs or down the hall, He'll wake up to see if it is not trouble. He keeps guard not because he was told to, but because he knows these people and they have not change.
The next morning Sly is off to a streem to take a bath to wash down the last adventure, just like a good elf would do.
Now he's ready for breackfast, he headd for the Inn, when he sees A figure of a woman, she has dark hair and ofcourse the V in her outfit. As she head for the wagon master Silus, she turn to look back, That's when Sly reconises her! It's Niobe!
Sly call to her "Niobe! Niobe! I'm so glade to see you. You look more beautiful then when I last saw you! Come Have Breakfast with Me?"

Peerimus and Yorrick Monday March 13th, 2006 4:58:11 PM
Peerimus exits town with a veritable entourage trailing him. Quite a sight, I must be making he smiles to himself on the thought and soon arrives in the wood. "To your needs of solitude I trust Firngaer and while the gnome creates a small cmfortable cottage for himself, Peerimus finds a soft moss bed near the stream and drifts off to sleep by the babbling brook.
With the morning light, Peerimus awakens and takes a bath in the stream. Yorrick propmtly moves upstream and takes a small dip himself. Feeling rejuvenated, Peerimus checks on Dalek and gives the horse a good morning brush. Peerimus will head back into town by mid morning. "Firngaer, I am heading in, everyone else is staying here, see you tonight." Not waiting for aor really expecting an answer, he strolls to the gate an then to the tavern.
"Greetings and morning all. I trust everyone slept well." Peerimus notices Niobe, but other than sitting with everyone else he does nothing. "A side of ham and some eggs this morning good sir."

Niobe (DM/Al) Monday March 13th, 2006 8:56:27 PM
Silus Destin listens quietly and with attention as Savin describes the outrageously fantastic history of the Children of Chaos. When the monk is through, the Caravan Master steeples his fingers before him. He looks both Savin and Jaeden squarely in the eyes.
"I'm glad that we have a mutual respect that places us beyond the use of force. Marten has a gift bestowed upon him by his devotion to good that has told me that you are not evil in nature. But even those good of heart can find the justification to force their will upon others at times."
"Suffice to say, though, that I'll have to disappoint you. I'm sorry. I don't know how your research lead to me." He stands, and walks out heading in the direction of the stables.
+++++++++++++++++++
Outside the stables, Niobe stands very stiff and still in Savin's arms. Then, with a firm hand, she detaches herself from him. Her eye moves from Savin, to Sly, and then Peerimus in the distance.
"Hello," she says. Then she looks away. "I heard there was a caravan here that might be going to Hook City. I'm going home." Niobe turns and walks down the street, but stops after a few paces. "I'm sorry," she says. "Sly, your sister is here. Somewhere. The five Crones are teaching her to become ... real again."
Peerimus, Lady Silverhand, Jones and Jaeden witness all of this from afar. All but Peerimus know little of Niobe. Jones nothing at all.
Niobe stands unmoving. The need to speak wars within her, the need to say something, anything to provide closure.
Sly Tuesday March 14th, 2006 7:45:46 AM
Sly takes Niobe hands into his, "I'm so happy to see you again, You look so beautiful, I'm soory that Luke is not here to see you. You said that your going home to Hook City, Are you goint to the House or the warehouse? Do you know where the keys are? Oh! If your looking for your silver Dagger! Jarden has it in his back pack." Sly tell her in a friendly way.
"I knew if I call on my sister Ruby, that she would know just the one to heal you. The Witches think highly of you, because there are giving you the life to go back to your home.
I'm Happy to hear that the Witches are teaching her to live again! So if I should ever go back to Hook City! I hope to see you again, until then Good By Sweet Niobe."
Sly watches her walk away. Now he has sunshine coming back into his heart once more, "Ruby some how I'll find you!"
Sly goes back to his friends, to Jarden "Niobe is back! She's more beautiful than ever!" Sly sits at his breackfast, watching The paladin face Glow.
Jaeden Ohm Tuesday March 14th, 2006 12:58:30 PM
Having nothing to say to Niobe, Jaeden instead follows Silus into the stable. He warrior is perceptive enough to understand that he needs to be careful of making Silus uncomfortable so he keeps a distance from the man as he enters.
"Master Silu a moment please!" His hands are held up and out so they can be clearly seen. "Please, wait to speak with Peerimus. Savin is young and a bit rash but his heart is true. Peerimus will be able to explain our need to you more clearly. Even now he's out front. Won't you speak to him?"
Peerimus Tuesday March 14th, 2006 5:32:50 PM
Peerimus watches Niobe start down the street and is not real sure if he should get up or not. Suddenly he wishes he had brought Yorrick back into town instead of letting the bear get some rest in the glade. It was how he had connected with her and he felt he could use that about now. Peerimus may not be the best at underlying emotion and especially those of women, but when someone fails to leave they mean to talk. With that in his own mind Peerimus excuses himself from the others and briskly colses on Niobe.
"I could not help but hear, you are heading back to Hook City." Peerimus moves in close to offer a farewell small hug. But upon the small embrace his whispers into her ear, Do not travel with Silus Destin, a chaos mark is upon him Knowing to linger longer would be ackward, Peerimus leans back from her and hands her the Tree Token. Place this in a courtyard near your home my friend and may it remind you of nature's beauty and old Yorrick. He will be sorry he missed you." Peerimus adds with a wink. "You two got along so well." the druid holds the straight face for the smallest of moments before it spreads into a great grin at some of the memories of Yorrick and Niobe.
"Perhpas, you could join Sly Savin and myself for a private farewell dinner tonight in the glade. Luke would likely wish to say farewell as well."

Savin is distracted by Niobe and misses the caravan master slip away. He will be taken back by the pretty rogue's cold shoulder. "Niobe I am glad you are going home. We only wish you the best. My the calm of Domi guide your travel and keep your safe."
He will look at Peerimus and say, "I think I might have blundered with Silas. You better go talk to him." Suddenly a thought pops into his head. "I wonder if Niobe confused Firn'gaer. She is a Child of Chaos and maybe his artifact picked up on her."
Day Passes Quickly (DM/Al) Tuesday March 14th, 2006 9:52:21 PM
Niobe nods to Savin in silence. She looks at the ground. She looks off toward the ocean. She looks anywhere, but into the faces of the Children of Chaos.
"My family is from Hook City, Sly. I don't remember if I ever told you that." She sighs. "But that's where they're from. My father is a gem cutter, and my mother hires out to guard caravans."
She gives a bitter laugh. "I left that for more excitement."
She accepts the token from Peerimus, even going as far as to return the shadow of a smile. From the corner of her eye, she takes in the Caravan Master, and she shakes her head.
"I don't know. I have to get back somehow. Even if I have to walk the whole way by myself." She turns away and holds up her hand. The mark is still there, depicting the Void. "I don't have to get involved. Just go with the caravan."
"Thanks for the offer of dinner, Peerimus. ... Maybe." Niobe walks away, turns a corner, and is gone.
Savin watches the dark haired rogue as she leaves. When he turns, Reena is watching. She leans against the wall of a building, arms folded across her chest.
"Ser Ohm ... Jaeden," at the stables Silus Destin's grin is open and honest, "I would be glad to speak with Peerimus. I'm willing to speak to anybody. That's how business is done. That's how friends are made. But I hope you don't expect too much from it. I just don't know what more I can tell you."
The sun rises. Noon comes and goes. The town fills with people. Some eye the Children of Chaos, wary looks when they believe they themselves cannot be observed. No one is overly friendly. Then, as the sun descends, the town empties once again. Shopping may wait another day.

Firn'gaer works until he begins to tire. After a few short hours of rest, the gnome wizard wakes and continues. This time a new scroll. He decides Invisibility would be a good choice. He'd have scribed the Telepathic Bond had it not been for it's need during the incident with the Kraken.
Oh, well. Things happen. He thinks.
Rufus enjoys his down time. In a mound of blankets on a bunk, the rodent sleeps all day in the dry, warm blanket. He only ventures out every few hours to sample some trail mix or dried meat before disappearing.
"Are you enjoying yourself?" Oh, yes, very much. Do we have to leave. I do enjoy this so. Reminds me of our days at home. "Yes it does. Save the magical structure, but yes like home." He smiles at his rodent friend as they remember fond days far to the north. "As soon as I finish, yes. Must find the next piece...but how to convince Silus to part with it. Perhaps in return for something he needs or wants."

Savin Wednesday March 15th, 2006 9:40:32 AM
Savin darts up to Niobe with a perplexed look on his face and asks, "Niobe, Why don't you just use your teleport boots to get home. Did you sell them?"
He then turns and walks over to Reena and says, "That was Niobe. She was once a member of our group, but decided she couldn't handle it anymore and wants to retire or at least take a break. Not sure if the Crones will let her but I can't blame her for wanting a rest."
Savin looks at the pretty redhead and continues, "Where do you call home? Do you come from here? Was wondering if you knew why the people are so unfriendly? Never seen such a dour people."
Savin will grab her hand, give her a peck on the cheek and start pulling her along. "I have to go to the Catacombs. Wanna go shopping with me?"
Sly and Luke Wednesday March 15th, 2006 10:18:51 AM
Sly watches Niobe walk away, he silently wishes the half elf all the happyness she so deserves.
Sly will go into the woods so he can find a tree to the elven highway, He has to learn more about being a Blade singer. He has to go back to the Master Elf that is teaching him.
Sly will make sure that he is back in time for breackfast.
Luke is happy playing top dog with Yurrick, and hunting for his own food.

Jaeden Ohm Wednesday March 15th, 2006 2:49:55 PM
"Thank you Master Silus. I'll get Peerimus right away." With that Jaeden goes back to the courtyard to grab the Druid.
"Peerimus, can you come with me? I need you to talk to Silus now, the chaos signature and our background was dropped on him a bit abruptly but he's agreed to speak with you. He's in the stable."
He leads Peerimus back to the stable.

Al, I'll try to figure out if Jaeden needs a trip to the Catacombs... been super sick the past few days so haven't had a chance to check it out.
Peerimus and Yorrick d20+15=26 Wednesday March 15th, 2006 4:53:34 PM
Yorrick rolls over and opens an eye as an over exhuberant dog bounces around him. Yorrick gives him a small playful bat and then gets up. It was time for a little fishing and a drink anyway. The big kodiak lumbers to the streams edge to see if dinner was coming by...
Peerimus takes the money and assures he won't let Firnaer starve or anything, "And I'll see about some good pipeweed for you as well."
Peerimus gives a half wave to Niobe as she leaves. She's quite capable of taking care of herself Peerimus turns as he hears Jaedens voice.
The druids eyes close and his fingers move as if to ward off an onsetting headache. "We really need to stop doing that." he more mutters than says aloud. With a long exhale that ends with a smirk and a gesture towards the stable, "Shall we then?" Just as he leaves he mentions to Savin, "I personally don't think so. The signature was on top of Silus while we were still on the road, but I will talk to Finrgaer again tonight and," he ends with a shrug.
At the stables, a dark thought touches the druids mind, but he dismisses it. Annoucing himself, he enters, "Master Silus, It is Peerimus." He walks in and assuming Silus is easily locatable wanders over. If Silus is doing anything with an animal, Peerimus assists. Otherwise the druid locates a bucket or bench and has a seat. [Handle Animal 26]
"Silus, I am sorry if you were overinformed just not to long ago. The more simple matter is, a magic item in our wizards possession seemed to indicate you were the current owner of an ingredient to a greater magic item we are building if you will. Now it is possible you do not even know you have it. The nature of the pieces we have been seeeking suggest they are not even detectable by normal means. What I would like tis to simply end all dobht by having Firngaer run another detection at breakfast tomorrow with you in attendance. What do you say?"

The Day Before (DM/Al) d100=18 Wednesday March 15th, 2006 9:45:31 PM
Looking back on the day ...
Studying the entire day, with breaks for nothing but the food the Peerimus had brought, Firn'gaer finally seated himself before his precious spell book. And with specially prepared ink, he filled three pages with the spell of Haste. The spell was beautifully penned, truly a credit the wizard's craft.
Savin had called a final reminder to Niobe as she disappeared around the corner.
"You two look pretty *friendly*," Reena had replied, but accepted Savin's kiss. She pulled Savin in with one arm and gently closed her strong white teeth down on the side of his neck. "Bet I'n frie'lier," she continued with her mouth full. She took his arm, and went on to tell Savin about being born in Rattledam on the Sargrass Plains, but traveling with her parents in various caravans. She explained that now, though, home is wherever she finds herself. Mostly Hook City. Hook City is a hub for commerce. But lately, travel has been getting more and more difficult, she said. Tensions rising between the different demesnes within the Gateway Downs, the Sargrass Plains, even the gnomes of Zaran City. The people of Heranmar, though, have always been unfriendly, she added. Probably from being so close to ... The Dark Lands.
Tagging along behind, a third wheel, Jones had inquired, "Who are the Crones?"
Outside the door to the shop that contained the Catacombs, the pair found Father Jasper standing about as though hesitant to enter, unsure as to how to proceed.
Sly strode off into the woods. The grove near the old abbey had contained the trees by which he had once entered the Elven Highway, oh so long ago with Trace, Sir Thomas, Alec, Guardian Solomar, Neko, Pip Goodfellow, and Cirg. On this day, the trees would not take him up. Strange. And not a good sign. And yet the connection was there. The Bladesinger could feel it. It filled him with peace and knowledge. He felt a sense of himself, and a connection to his people. All day, he spent practicing in the grove.
At Jaeden's insistence, Peerimus had met with Silus Destin. The Caravan Master was engaged in counting out inventory, moving crates of lentils into piles for distribution. He seated himself on a pile of stacked boxes and listened in silence, waiting for the druid to finish.
"That sounds fair," Silus Destin had replied. "Simple. And fair. But, if you'll excuse me, somewhat incomplete. As a man who involves himself in such things, I have to tell you that it's not what you have that matters. It's what you do with it. Lets say we do this test tomorrow. And lets say that I have what you want. What are you going to do?"
"Don't get me wrong. I don't necessarily mistrust you. Marten says you're alright and the Five Ladies have granted him the power to know the difference ... "
"But I don't know you. I'll say it again. It's not that I mistrust you, understand. I've no reason to disbelieve your fine and fantastic tales. But I just don't know you. You think on that. I've got to get these crates delivered around town. Maybe I'll see you tomorrow."
That had been yesterday. The sun rises again to a clear blue sky and a soft sea breeze. Savin rises again with Reena. Breakfast is served downstairs. Silus Destin is not yet up and about. But he had appeared briefly the night before, and then departed early for his room.
Firn'gaer decides that today ... Invisibility.
Savin Wednesday March 15th, 2006 10:19:18 PM
Savin gets up early and slips out of his room that he is sharing with Reena. He is enjoying her company and companionship but he is starting to feel a little used and abused. He decides to find out if his new friend Jones is a morning person. He will go to his room and wake him and ask if he wants to work out.
If he accepts, while stretching and performing kata, Savin will say, "You have inquired about the crones and we have been remiss in answering you. I am sorry but Reena is very distracting." He rubs at a bite mark and smiles..,"Yes very distracting. Anyway the crones. Really I don't what or who they are. They are very powerful, yet they seem to be limited too. We seem to be their instruments. The flit us around the Wold, to battle various monsters or beings of power. They seem to have some ties to our tattoos. It seems we are either chosen every couple thousand of years or reincarnated to perform some task. We are now collecting these six artifacts to battle the Avatar of Chaos. Who or what that is...I don't know." Savin looks up at Jones with a wry smile. "Wow I never knew I was so dumb. You might be better off talking to Sly. He has been with the group longer."
Savin will find time today to go off to the Catacombs and make some purchases.
Sly and Luke Thursday March 16th, 2006 3:44:09 AM
Sly arrives at the tree, tries to enter, BUT to his suprise he cannot?? He can fell the magic! but can not got to his master elf for more training in blade singer. "then I'll fast and go through past lesons."
Sly strips to the waist, goint through is training, stoping only to drink water and small rest.
When night falls he dresses and goes to the Circle next to the Old Abby, There are the five old crones statue. They died so many years ago, they are now just five stump and a lot of dust. But Sly touches all five stump, "Rest well My Ladies, you have earned your place among the stars, the five new ones are doing a good job."
Sly will climb the tallest tree, sleep the night. In the Morning he wakes, goes through his rightuals, then makes his way to the group, "Good Morning! All!" He greets then, "I'm hungry! Let's eat!" Sly is smiling, and back to his old self once more...
Luke is with Yurrick all day, where the bear goes Luke follows. Luke even sits on the bank of the stream, he'll sit there quiet when yurric fishes, He knows that the first four fishes he catches are for the bear the next two are for him.

sorry about this lame post....
Peerimus nods to Silus, "If you do indeed have the item, my friends and I would be looking to purchase it from you. We have healthy funds and our own, how would say, skills that a caravan master might find very useful."
"as you say, you do not know us and we are a far wandering group by nature and therefore you couldn't really ask around about us locally. But I can offer you is my word as a druid and Protector of the fertile earth our intentions are honorable. I can offer a cleric of Alemi's word and that of a Bladesinger. You mention Marten was gifted or blessed by the Five Ladies. It is the same five likely that set us upon our journey and I wonder if our good wizard missed the mark. Can you bring Marten with you tomorrow?"
Peerimus stands, "But you are busy, I will help if you like, or no as it is your business. I hope you will meet with us tomorrow. Blessed evening and a peaceful night to you."

Jaeden Thursday March 16th, 2006 8:44:51 PM
Jaeden rises to another morning, feeling strange that an entire day has gone by in leisure. His step once again light and smooth, having drank far less the night before. He grabs whats available and takes a seat at a table, waiting for the others and hopeful Master Silus.
Tomorrow Then (DM/Al) Thursday March 16th, 2006 9:42:17 PM
Savin explains the crones to Jones. Then he, Reena, Lady Silverhand, and Father Jasper spend the day at the Catacombs. It's a strange and magical place. Savin, Peerimus, Firn'gaer, and Sly all know this. It can appear in the most unusual places. Time seems to run a little different there.
Peerimus and Jaeden wait at the inn for the appearance of Silus Destin. Sly appears and joins them for breakfast. The Caravan Master never shows his face.
The day wears on, and at it's end, Firn'gaer reaches again for his spellbook. In it, he fills another two pages with beautiful calligraphic script.
It is evening. Silus Destin finally arrives. From the outside. It seems he left early and has been away all day. He approaches the table at which Peerimus, Jaeden, Jones and Sly sit. Today, his eyes are less affable, more wary. They become more so as he listens to Peerimus.
"I'm here. You wanted to detect something. Now you want me to bring Marten tomorrow, and do your detection on both of us?" His mouth pulls into a straight and serious line, and he eyes each of the Children of Chaos now seated at the table.
"Alright. I'll see you tomorrow morning. We'll be here." And the Caravan Master leaves for his room.
It is evening on your second full day in Heranmar.
Sly and Luke Friday March 17th, 2006 5:28:05 AM
That day is spent in relaxing, Studing his spells, Sparing with Jaeden and they both get a good work out, Sly will eat the last meal of the day with his friend, then it's up to bed for him, he misses Luke.
But the next morning Sly is waken at sun rise, washes and dress himself, BUT he feel different some how. He goes down to breakfast, but every body in the dinning room ia acting funny, they give Sly an odd look??
As the rest of his friends come down to eat, They see a strange looking Sly?? He now has Green hair on his head and what's that on his chin?? By gosh! it's green fuzz??
Sly look up at them and greets them "The Top Of The Morning To Yee!"

"By the gods, you are persistent, druid." He says to Peerimus. "Alright, I'll come into town, but there better be no leprechaun remarks today." :)
"I'd like to pick up a few things anyway." He says as he packs his things in the morning.
Firn'gaer heads into town and to the inn for the morning with Peerimus, Yorrick and Dalek.
At the inn he will use Noxnyx to look at Silus to see if he has an item or a signature. If he doesn't, Firn'gaer will look through the village looking for the signature he say when they first arrived.

Peerimus Friday March 17th, 2006 4:15:16 PM
Firngaer finds the druid smiling triumphantly when he opens the door at last. "It's important Firngaer." Looking to the bear getting ready to follow, "No you don't you big lug. You stay here and mind the glade. Relax and enjoy the sun friend."
The druid strolls slowly as to keep next to Firngaer as they head to town. "I trust things are going well." As Firngaer starts to inform him about how well things WERE going, Peerimus puts on a dour face and attepmts to parrot the wizard for a time before again giving him a large smile.
At the table, the druid notices the change and decides he does not like it. There was 'not sure I trust you' turning into 'you're not getting my moss covered 3 handled family gradunza.' All Peerimus could do was sit and he did not like, not one little bit.
He turns an expectant eye towards Firngaer, the question left unasked
Jones Friday March 17th, 2006 6:55:08 PM
Jones has come to a conclusion, "I'm starting to think that all of your stories are nothing but stories. So far since I've met you all, your lives seems as mindnumbingly dull as mine. Actually maybe even more dull. I'm pretty sure that I'd have managed a bar fight if I'd been alone. Honestly, the way you all carry on in your stories, I expected vampiric dragons to have burned down the village by now causing us to leap into a magic flagon of ale to hurtle through some secret dimensional portal to find some powerful artifact with which to cast said vampiric dragons into the depths of the abyss... but instead we've puttered about town a bit."
Savin Friday March 17th, 2006 10:23:48 PM
Savin hears Jones complaint and starts to laugh. He will pat the monk on the shoulder and say, "Careful what you wish for my friend. It might just come true.
These are the first peaceful days we have had in a while and I am thoroughly enjoying them. Did I tell you the story about the Kraken? How about the weretigers? I didn't look before I leaped and suddenly found myself surrounded by hordes of the vile creatures. This was only a week ago..the kraken a couple days....iron golem a week maybe. Enjoy the peace...it won't last."

Confrontation (DM/Al) Sunday March 19th, 2006 8:31:07 PM
This night, Sly sleeps in a bed at the Inn rather than up in a tree in the woods. Jaeden, Jones, Savin, Father Jasper and Lady Silverhand keep rooms at the Inn as well. Jones expresses his incredulity at the adventures told by this odd group of twelve odd beings. Though they share his tattoo, and though this tattoo has certainly been odd over the years since he's been old enough to consider things odd, things have sure been normal. Even teleporting into the middle of the road is not too far out of the realm of imagination.
The next morning, Peerimus and Firn'gaer return from the grove outside of town.
Waiting in the common room, breakfast upon the table, are Sly, Savin, Jaeden, Lady Silverhand, Father Jasper, Jones, and Reena. At another table sit the Caravan Master, Silus Destin, Marten, and Kon. Silus and Marten stand as the two enter. Kon remains seated with one arm slung over the back of the chair, his foot tapping a gentle rhythm on the floor.
Good mornings and civil pleasantries are exchanged. Then Firn'gaer takes out the Vision. The view fixes immediately upon the space in which the two men are standing. The Vision seems to understand Firn'gaer's desires. Marten is as bland an colorless as the rest of the strangers breakfasting this morning. Silus Destin himself is equally colorless. More of the traveling lines of light seem to flow through them, but there is no Chaos signature.
At least not within their bodies. At the waist level of Silus Destin, comes a strong bright glow. Chaos Signature. What could it be but another Artifact?
As Firn'gaer works, the Caravan Master watches the gnomish wizard's face, and from his face, Silus Destin reads the results.
"Marten?" he asks over his shoulder. The Caravan Master never takes his eyes off of the group of strangers. "Have you ever known your gift to be wrong?"
"No Silus. I have faith in the goodness of the Five Crones. And they have never broken faith with me."
"They sure don't seem the Sly Guys to me, Boss," Kon pipes in. "Straight up and down from what I see."
"I don't think you have anything to worry about, Silus," Reena adds from her place at the far table next to Savin.
Silus Destin turns his gaze from Peerimus and Firn'gaer to the table with the rest of the group. He takes in their faces. And then he returns to Peerimus and Firn'gaer.
"Then I'll have to ask you what you intend to do, if I tell you that this is not for me to give you. And if I request that you desist in any further inquiries."
=== OOC ===
We can continue this discussion, but I need to know what each of you intends for the rest of the day. Morning, Noon, Evening, and Night.
Jones Monday March 20th, 2006 11:15:06 AM
Jones struggles a bit between prattling on about things he knows absolutely nothing about and keeping his mouth shut. His impulse is to chat everyone up a bit, but at times he has the common sense to avoid speaking.
Firn'gaer Monday March 20th, 2006 12:23:16 PM
"Well I would have to say," The wizard says, "Whose is it to give then?" He continues. "Your object and the others like...well...not to seem nihilistic but without all of the Chaos items the Wold will be destroyed. The occurances of the past several weeks will be nothing in comparison. We have been given the task of preventing this by the Crones. I don't know if given is the proper term, but." He says stopping to let everyone catch up. "So, Silus, if it is not yours to give then we need to know whose it is to give and how do we contact them."
Father Jasper Monday March 20th, 2006 12:28:07 PM
Jasper desides to spend the time relaxing in the inn with the party that is there hoping to learn more about the group that he has been thrown into by faith. If he is able he will strike up conversation with them all in some form or another about any topic that comes up
Lady Silverhand on the other hand is still closed mouthed as ever prefering the silence of a dark corner of the inn and a drink to her self if ask anything she smiles but says little hoping to pick in information a diffrent way -by people forgetting that she is there.. if the inn gets to crowned or noisey she retreats to the camp where the luke and the rest are staying for the the quite.

Sly and Luke Monday March 20th, 2006 4:38:45 PM
Sly takes his gloves out of his poketand lay them on the table, he then raises his hand to show the tattoo, "I not only have a tattoo, but a scarr on my neck form a vampire (Sly shows is scar, hoping to have the wagon master think twice about our request.) Now let's see who was there at Oh! Yes Peerimus, Yurrick the bear, Savin were you there when we had that run in with the Vampier?"
Sly will finish his breakfast and go out into the Forest. He'll be back thoward night fall.
Peerimus Monday March 20th, 2006 5:00:54 PM
Firngaer has pretty much answered the question as far as the druid is concerned. The assemblage of the artifact as a whole to combat the Avatar of Choas to prevent the entire Wold from being thrown into a Age of Chaos far outweighs individula concerns over the matter of property. Though the druid also believes he knows Silus is about to say, he waits for the man to actually utter it.
Peerimus has no plans of anykind of the rest of the day. hanging out and thinking of tastey waves hu huh jya
Savin Monday March 20th, 2006 7:06:32 PM
Savin listens to the conversation and adds, "I know this is going to sound dumb and naive, but is there any possibility of borrowing the item?
Peerimus, why don't you bring out Circle of Far and Away. Maybe it can convince our friend here?"
The Honorable Wait (DM/Al) Monday March 20th, 2006 9:05:46 PM
The Caravan Master listens in silence, as Firn'gaer leads with the questions. Jaeden shows Marten the tattoo, the mark of those Chosen. Sly pulls up his sleeve as well, adding to the veracity of their story.
Marten says nothing in return.
Silus Destin frowns in thought, and then he speaks.
"If I did not think that you were worthy of trust, I would say nothing at all. I want you to understand that. I also want you to understand, that I do not lightly take on a commission like this. But when I do, I honor it. Completely and to the letter. A trader prides himself on reading people. And I hope that I read you rightly, and that you will respect the commitment I have to my commission, and the need to follow it through. The measures I take ensure security and confidentiality and I never vary from them. I have the trust in my clients to provide this much for them. And in turn it prompts a trust of me."
"One thing that I will do for you, though, is to pass on your story and your desires. If you are who you claim to be, and I do not question that you are mind you, then as long as you make yourselves available, I cannot see why they would not contact you."
"I am sorry to be abrupt, but that is all I am prepared to say on the matter, and I have work to do today. I'll bid you a good morning, and I wish you good luck."
And he leaves.
Sly spends the day in the forest. On his way, he spies the blonde girl once more in the vicinity of the old Abbey. She waves to the distant figure, and then is on her way.
Jaeden spends the day honing his body, the temple of his martial skills.
Lady Silverhand retreats to the glade where Luke and Yorrick spend a lazy day near the stream.
Father Jasper spends the day in conversation with Kon. The little man is affable, well traveled, and surprisingly well versed in a wide variety of subjects. I is a bit irreverent, but that more often brings a smile than not.
Peerimus spends his day dreaming of sun, waves, and white sandy beaches.
Evening comes. Sly returns from the woods. Only Lady Silverhand remains away, still in the glade with Luke and Yorrick. Silus Destin and Marten pass through the common room on their way upstairs. They say nothing, and do not stop. Kon and Reena play a game with colored chips upon a complicated spiderweb patterned board.
Evening draws to night. Kon stretches and yawns, then heads upstairs. Reena pulls on Savin's arm, coaxing him to bed.
Time, perhaps, to discuss plans, and then off to sleep as well.
Sly and Luke Tuesday March 21st, 2006 7:20:01 AM
Before heading for is room and while playing with Luke and Yurrick, Sly see that the druid is sleeping and he does not want to desterbe him.
So Sly will go to Lady Salina, "Good Evening, My Lady, Would you do me a great favor? When Peerinus wakes, give him this message,'If the Artifact cannot be aquired, then Why not follow it to the party that ordered it?' I will come back tomorow to get an answer from either you, I it pleases you or from Preemus himself." Sly bows to Lady Salina, "Until the Morrow!"
Sly pets Luke tellin him that he and Yurrick is doing a great job and to keep an eye on the Lady. Then sly is on his way.
But on his way Sly spots this Blond girl, this time he takes a longer look at this beautiful creture (Right now All females are beautiful to him!) and waves back to her, but goes on her way. "Ahhh Gee!" Said Sly, "she's was too far away for me to run to her, But it was a good day Dream."
Then back at the Inn Sly make his presenrs known, "Goog Night Savin, Good night Renaa!" Then up stairs to bed.
Peerimus and Yorrick Tuesday March 21st, 2006 5:24:25 PM
Silus gets up and leaves and Peerimus puts his chin upon his fist as he leans onto the table with his elbows. The druids face wrinkles a bit, "Hmmm, and that is that as far as Silus is concerned then." Looking sideways towards Firngaer, "Well that is an advantage we have with Noxx there. WE can simply wait until Silus leaves town and then locate the new owner and start this again. I do not believe we really need to rush anything here. Agreed?" Peerimus gets up and goes to the glade to spend the day with Yorrick and the natural world about him.
later that evening he returns to meet the group for dinner and to socialize inot the night. After Silus and Marten pass through an all too familira scowl appears on his face. "I do not think I like the change in tone" the druid remarks to Sly. "We were thinking along the same lines. If it is not Silus's to deal, there is no harm in finding out who should talk to and as long as we do not badger Silus into telling us, he keeps his reputation. firngaer, Perhaps tonight you should use Noxx again. With some of us in the tavern you could use them as a starting point. Silus may have already made his delivery."
Firn'gaer Tuesday March 21st, 2006 6:18:46 PM
"I was not making light of you reputation, Silus. I only wanted to know to whom we would need to inquire with about the item you are transporting. That's all. My illustration was only just that; to make you aware the value it." He says to the merchant. "As far as trustworthy, you know nothing of us other than the few conversation we've had. I'd not say more either. If anonymity is your concern then so be it, but please do tell your employer of our interest in that piece."
Later that night "He's cautious and doesn't trust us." The wizard says to Peerimus. "Can't fault him. We have bragged a great deal of our power and deeds. He thinks we can take it if we'd have a mind for it. He's probably right, but I'd rather not have actions and harse words get us into trouble."
"Let's give him the benefit of the doubt, then should we need to resort to Noxnyx we can." Firn'gaer says between puffs on his pipe.
Savin Tuesday March 21st, 2006 9:13:30 PM
Savin listens to Peerimus and Firn'gaer and nods his head in agreement. "I have to agree. He seems to be an honorable man who is well respected in the town. Pushing him will only have him set in his heels and this town doesn't seem to friendly. Let's not antagonize anyone."
Savin then strolls over to watch the game trying to figure out the rules. He will decline any invitation but amuse himself by massaging Leena's neck and every once in a while erotically brushing the back of her ear where he knows she is sensitive. He is trying to see if he can distract her from her game.
When she pulls him upstairs, he will grin in victory. After making her happy and relaxed (the rated G version), he will engage in some pillow talk. "Reena how long have you known Silas? He seems an honorable man. I like him quite a bit. I just hope we can come to an understanding with him."
Silent Night (DM/Al) d20+15=25 d20+15=18 d20+15=27 d20+15=33 Tuesday March 21st, 2006 10:20:15 PM
The curtain of night falls on Heranmar. Concerned over their discovery of what appears to be the fourth artifact, in the possession of the Caravan Master, Peerimus and Firn'gaer abandon the glade for this night and take up rooms at the Inn.
Sly, after a day in the woods also returns to the Inn.
Upstairs, Reena leans up on an elbow. With a finger, she runs an idle finger along the ribs in Savin's side.
"Everyone in the business knows of Silus. He's one of the best that you can hire up with," she says. "He gets a good price for his work. He pays well. People respect him because he knows what he's doing." Then she rolls over on top of him, and that's the end of the talking.
Jaeden, Father Jasper, and Jones are also asleep up in their rooms. Lady Silverhand has remained in the glade with Luke, Yorrick, and Jaeden's mount, Dalek.
All is quiet. In a certain room on the second floor, Reena wakes at Savin's side. Women and their bladders are an age old problem.
"I'll be right back, Lover," she whispers. Savin feels her lips press against his cheek near his ear. Boards creak as her weight moves away. Silence returns again to the night.
The quiet blanket of night gently massages Savin back toward a dream filled sleep. And at the edge of the dream, something is bumping. Something is thumping. Voices call over the noise. It's uncomfortable. You wish it would go away.

Jaeden Ohm d20-4=11 Wednesday March 22nd, 2006 5:09:07 PM
While the noise goes unnoticed, Savin's voice does not. Jaeden lays still in bed, eyes alert and darting around.
A quick glance to his bedside to make sure his blade is still there.
The Still Of The Night (DM/Al) d20+24=34 Wednesday March 22nd, 2006 8:25:06 PM
Savin wakes. Suspecting that something is amiss, he shouts out. A ruse, and loud enough to wake the undead. Creeping to the door, he listens. He hears nothing. But, then again, there is a door muffling the sound between himself and the hallway.
Father Jasper wakens at the sound as well. He takes his mace in hand, and considers a spell. But there is no one to cast it on. There is only himself within his own dark room.
Sly, Jaeden, and Peerimus wake at the sound of Savin's voice. Each have different reactions to the outcry. Jaeden remains in bed, but on the alert. Sly rises, but has trouble remaining upright. Peerimus rolls back over and goes back to sleep.
Neither Firn'gaer nor Jones wakens at all.
Off in the distant glade, Lady Silverhand wakens on her own accord, a bad feeling, perhaps. Or perhaps just restlessness. After checking on Luke, Yorrick and Dalek, she lays back down to sleep.
The silence is palpable, like a breath waiting to exhale. From his place on the floor, Sly, with his elfish eye-sight, can see a light shining through the crack beneath the door.
=== OOC ===
Those of you who missed the check may awaken now that Savin has raised his ruckus. You are all in separate rooms with the doors closed. Except for Firn'gaer and Peerimus, who somehow wound up sharing a room.
None of you currently have a light. Listen checks are made at -5 penalty if your door remains closed.
You are now free to make several rounds worth of actions, all within reason, of course.

Sly and Luke d20-4=15 Thursday March 23rd, 2006 6:53:57 AM
Sly gets up from the floor, mutters a few choice words, now he sees the light coming from under the door. 'Some one out there? I hope it's a friend.' But just in case Sly puts his armor on, (Quitely ofcorse) Aproches the door, give it a gentle push (so when he turns the knob, the metal latch will not click)
Sly wiil slowly open the door just a little crack. Look to see what is in the hallway, muttering to himself (again) 'next time I'm sleeping in a common room. No one can sneek up on you there!'
He readies his sword, Yanks the door open and jumps out into the hall way, with his chainmale shirt on, sword in hand, BUT no pants on.
Luke Sleeps with Lady Salina and Yurrick, but when the Lady get up and check the camp. Luke wakes and follows her. When she goes back to bed, luke will sleep next to her.

Peerimus has gone back to sleep
Jaeden Ohm Thursday March 23rd, 2006 3:18:39 PM
Hearing all the ruckus Jaeden wonders at the cause. Sunddenly a troubling thought occurs to him and he bolts out of bed. He takes the time to put on his gauntlets and grab his sword but his armor remains in a pile in his room.
He bursts into the hallway where Sly and Savin already stand. "Savin, is the Lady Reena still with you? Quick, ask her if she knows where Master Destins room is. May be paranoid here but I've got a bad feeling all of a sudden."
Firn'gaer Thursday March 23rd, 2006 7:49:02 PM
The noise from the hall finally wakes the gnome wizard from his slumber. He looks over at Peerimus and sees he's gone back to sleep. "Rufus go see what's making all the noise." He says getting comfortable under the covers.
Go...do it...yourself...I need more sleep...than you... The rat squeeks back.
"I'm sure it's alright. Savin can handle it I know I heard his voice...I think."
Fir'gaer rolls over and covering his head with a pillow sets his mind to go back to sleep.
