A new dawn

DM Kelly
Wednesday February 1st, 2006 5:50:20 PM

Few answers come about those who commanded the monster army. That it was a well-planned attack there is no doubt.

Everyone finds a place to rest. The night is short, but the horns do not sound at sunrise. Everyone is given a chance to sleep in, and about two hours after sunrise the call for breakfast is given. You make your way to the dining hall, and a large but humble meal is place before you. Breads, cheese and sausages are laid upon the table, with plenty to eat.

Alemi and Domi are sitting at the long table, surrounded by students. When you enter, Alemi rises and greets you.

"We owe you a great debt. The Northern wall was the only that was not breached by the monsters. Your help on the East and West wall was also crucial. You are indeed great heroes. Please, sit with us and eat."

While you are eating, he makes small conversation, but deflects any questions from the students about who you are and where you are from. When you are finished eating, he simply asks:

"Where do you go from here? I will gladly give you any directions you need."

Kendry
Wednesday February 1st, 2006 8:56:47 PM

"Our druids performed master work, my lords. They laid down a band of spiked growth that served as an invisible yet painful barrier to the goblins' approach. My Airin's eagle, Erwen, shed great light on the approach of the enemy. Peerimus and Shaylin were fearsome at the front, and Gilan provided both reconnaisance and unusual combat prowess. Was that you, Bralin, who fired a lighted arrow towards the group that appeared approaching the east side of the north wall?" he asks. "Or did you, Nezamil, fire it?"

"I did not see as much of what went on upon the ramparts, except at the end. Oh, Tishe's spells helped me greatly. And Podo, from what I hear, helped quite a bit on clearing the area of kobolds. And provided comfort to one who breathed his last."

Kendry sighs.

He then digs in to breakfast, though.

"To seek the source of the monsters, Lord Alemi," Kendry answers.

Tishe' and Snout
Thursday February 2nd, 2006 4:16:17 AM

"Do we?" wonders Tishe'. "Don't we want to find out about the thing on the tapestry?"

She looks at Snout, distracted by the terrific breakfast and the light off his green scales. "We'll find answers wherever we go, sweetie", she tells the croc, while rubbing his eye ridge.

Snout grins and slaps his tail. He glances at Nezamil and Podo, the two nest members of his human who seem to be able to fight pretty good. Oh yeah, scratch that scale, that's it...

Kendry
Thursday February 2nd, 2006 4:22:11 AM

"Yes, we do," Kendry answers Tishe'. "Both."

Peerimus and Shaylin
Thursday February 2nd, 2006 9:45:34 AM

Peerimus is not necessarily sleeping after the sun rises into the courtyard, but he is in no hurry to get up. shifting to catch a little shade for his eyes, he and Shaylin doze in the cool morning air a while. The mid morning routine is basically the same, Peerimus moves about and stops to smell the flowers, grass and soil and then picks a sunny spot to clear his mind for spell preparations. Then it is onto break.

Peerimus hits the bread and sausages as if he had not eaten in days. Shaylin too, gets a good meal of the sausage. Peerimus speak if directly talked to, but for the most part he is busy eating and drinking. At Kendry's mention of himself and his brothers and daughter Tishe and Airin, he pauses to give a nod of appreciation for Kendry's words and hoists a glass. "To Father and Mother." the glass gets drained.

Airin and Erwen
Thursday February 2nd, 2006 11:09:41 AM

As Airin wakes up the next morning she feels quite refreshed. Not having been injured at all makes her really happy, knowing all her friends survived even more.

Instead of putting on her armor she takes out the beautifull green dress she once received from the druid Clover and she wore it for the first time in the Gold Dragon's Castle. Freshly bathed, dressed in the green dress and her increased charisma boost (thanks to the mirror encounter) should make quite an appearance of Airin now.

She leaves her weaponry in her room, not expeting any trouble here in the castle and goes down for breakfast and to meet her friends.

As she enters the dining room she walks straight up to Kendry and gives him a long hug and a kiss. Then she takes a seat next to him and listens while Alemi starts to talk.

No trace of Erwen so far. The predator bird most likely went out for a hunt at the early dawn. She'll turn up somewhere soon.

Bralin
Thursday February 2nd, 2006 4:38:29 PM

Bralin rolls in for breakfast. Like Peerimus, he's never met a meal he didn't like. The dwarf dives right in, shoveling in biscuts and meat just as fast as he can grab them. Utensils merely slow down the process, so he doesn't use them.

"Nezamil," he replies to Kendry between mouthfuls.

Bralin leaves it to the others to determine where to go next.

DM Kelly
Thursday February 2nd, 2006 6:13:04 PM

Alemi eats some biscuits and sausage, and washes it down with some hot herbal tea. Brushing the crumbs from off his mouth, he smiles and says:

"The source of the monsters you say? Well, the monster sanctuary is by Gargul's compound to the Southeast. I don't know if he sent them though, but it would not surprise me. Eberyon lives in Castle Fey to the Southwest. I never quite know what he is up to. His motives are difficult for me to understand. Maab also has a palace Southwest of here, on the way to Eberyon's place. She is the Fey Queen but seems to be at odds with Eberyon as of late."

He takes another bite and adds:

"Of course, I don't know your purpose here. Only you can decide where to go from here. If your purpose if finding who sent the monsters or where they came from, you need not worry. I have already sent scouts to find what they can. I will not sit here and await further attacks."

Gilan and Ciaran
Thursday February 2nd, 2006 8:42:02 PM

Gilan is up earlier than most the next morning. He can be found at this early hour seated outside, facing the direction of the rising sun, with his eyes close and waiting. When the morning sun finally tops the walls and he can feel it full upon his face he falls into a low mournful song. He is soon joined by Ciaran with his own lamenting howl.

With his morning ritual over he falls back into the fort and finds the dining hall. He is fast to notice that most are already there ahead of him but he does not care as he takes a seat. As he scoops a large amount of sausage, some cheese and a hunk of bread onto a plate. He feeds himself and Ciaran as he listens to the conversation around them though he does not participate.

Tishe' and Snout
Thursday February 2nd, 2006 9:44:33 PM

"You know", begins the plain-faced woman musingly, "perhaps Maab can weave us some more answers." She sits tailor fashion eating frugally of melon and chai, while Snout dines on fish a little ways off.

"She has affinity with us, and seems to have knowledge and grudge both against Ebyron. At the very least Mother to the Wold is another piece to the puzzle."

Podo Danderfluff Pipewood
Friday February 3rd, 2006 8:30:20 AM

Staying humble and quiet, Podo nods when quesitons are asked perfering our "General" to enage in dialog with Alemi and Domi.

Podo will try to avoid enagaging in direct dialog as he feels the lost of the students a great loss.

Nezamil
Friday February 3rd, 2006 4:48:36 PM

The dwarf wakes up and takes a early morning stroll onto the walls they just defended the night before, finding a nice quiet spot he kneels down and quietly meditates in the brisk cool morning air.

Afterwards he heads down for breakfast taking a seat with the students who bravely defended the eastern wall and listens to their chatter as he eats his eggs and sausage with a little fruit on the side .

Nezamil also peeks over at Domi and studies how he handles himself , trying to glean bits of wisdom from the prescense of Domi

Peerimus and Shaylin
Saturday February 4th, 2006 1:38:23 PM

Peerimus agrees with Tishe and has not much else to add.

Kendry
Saturday February 4th, 2006 5:22:12 PM

"Yes, Tishe'," Kendry agrees, giving a nod toward Peerimus as well. "It might be wise to seek the counsel of the Lady Maab."

He jots down a few notes.

Bralin
Sunday February 5th, 2006 3:26:53 PM

Everyone else is still talking, so the dwarf has time to eat.

He takes advantage.

DM Kelly
Sunday February 5th, 2006 10:35:41 PM

The short conversation with Alemi has led the group to a decision, to visit with Maab. Perhaps she will know what is going on.

Domi finishes a small breakfast, and stands:

"I have heard great things about your help in this battle. I only hope my students can develop skills such as you possess. The morning is getting late, if you will excuse me I must go check on the welfare of my students."

Domi then bows, and leaves.

Alemi adds:

"I too must get about my business. Thanks again for your help. You should be able to journey in safety. The monsters took a terrible loss, and will not dare show themselves for a long time. They prefer to have odds in numbers and in darkness. Travel safely, it is about an hour's journey to Queen Maab's."

Tishe' and Snout
Monday February 6th, 2006 2:07:26 AM

"What a wonderful tapestry our threads and shuttles weave." states the brown-eyed mystic. "To speak with Alemi and Domi when they were (are?) but mortal, and now we go to see Queen Maab; the Mother of the Wold herself!"

Rising gracefully, she readies pack and Snout for a small journey. "Oshirr House." she says again in wonder and a touch of awe, turning around and around to capture every last memory of the place she can.

Then, with a gleam of adventure in her eye and a smile on her rather plain face, she moves towards the gates to the Wold. "C'mon, packmates! Let's get shuttlecocked!"

A grin on his huge head, Snout moves behind Nezamil and nudges the dwarf towards the gate, then hurries to catch up to is human.

Airin and Erwen
Monday February 6th, 2006 3:41:38 AM

After breakfast and the final agreement on their next plan, Airin retreats to her room, puts on her armor and prepares for the next phaze of their adventure.
A quick prayer to Mother Nature helps her to refresh her spell list.

Peerimus and Shaylin
Monday February 6th, 2006 9:22:17 AM

Peerimus too seems to have a glint in his eye. the prospect of coming face to face with Maab and perhaps Ebyron sets his skin afire. With a pat and scratch to Shaylin's muzzle he is up and following quickly out the door behind Tishe.

Bralin
Monday February 6th, 2006 4:53:23 PM

Bralin wordlessly trails his comrades out the gate.

Gilan and Ciaran
Monday February 6th, 2006 7:21:32 PM

Gilan stuffs down another eight sausages as he feeds a like amount to Ciaran. He nods his head and then toes his pack. "I am ready to go...when do we leave?" When the rest of the group makes to leave he is right along with them...well maybe a little ahead of them. Really he is in a hurry to be outside and under the true roof...the sky.

Ciaran seems to be in better humors as well...being outside. He seems to be ready for a little trip, despite the amount of sausages and stuff that he ate.

As you leave you see Domi and the students out in the yard, practising martial arts. Though the numbers are fewer, they carry on.

Traveling out through the gates, you are saluted by the guards. It is now late morning, and the air is warming. Few clouds are in the sky, and you walk into a mild breeze from the West.

The road to Maab's place is uneventful. After an hour of travel you see a small road turning South, just as the map showed. You turn, and can see a palace in the distance. Trees and flowers grow in abundance, and get thicker as you get closer to the palace. Movement can be seen in the thickness of the forest.

Spot check 25 Highlight to display spoiler: {You see many fey creatures in the forest. Unicorns and sprites seem to be playing at a game. Gnomes sit upon the branches of the trees watching the game.}

Kendry  d20+6=21
Tuesday February 7th, 2006 3:40:13 AM

Kendry takes leave of Alemi and Domi and the Oshirr House in the company of his companions of these last few days, somewhat better appreciating their skills, talents, character qualities, and personalities. Brave in action, sharp in strategy and tactics, and willing to do what needs to be done.

He is so glad that his cousin Podo is here. He heard from one of the students how Podo had helped to clear the west wall of kobolds, and how he comforted the dying student.

And Airin - how he would hate to be separated from her for too long a time.

To meet Maab, face to face. Oh, he has heard often of her, down through the years. He has even received more than one dream from her. But, to meet her... what an awesome occasion that could be.

Working on composing fresh songs in his head, he fails to notice more than the beauty of the lush flora [spot: 21] as they draw near the Lady's dwelling.

Tishe' and Snout  d20+8=13
Tuesday February 7th, 2006 5:57:08 AM

The pleasant day is marred by Tishe's memories of the terrible fight and the ambushes that were on the road the day before. She keeps a hand on her crossbow, and watches the forest. Though noticing movement, she has no idea what it is (Spot: 13)

Snout trots on beside.

Airin and Erwen  d20+10=19 d20+16=28
Tuesday February 7th, 2006 5:58:43 AM

(Airin spot 19 / Erwen Spot 28)

Airin enjoyes the trip to Queen Maab. The expectance of meeting this powerfull lady renders Airin invisible to the obvious things in the forest. Erwen however, flying above the brave adventurers, seems to notice something!

The bird shrieks above Airin head making the halfling lady to look up to the sky. Erwen seems to circle above one specific place up ahead.

"Something is out there friends... I don't know what, but Erwen seems to be aroused about something. Keep your eyes open!"

Hopefully Airin's warning will help her friends look more closely (does this qualify for helping others to spot better?)

As Airin feels something is not right, she takes her crossbow of her shoulder preparing for whatever lies ahead.

Peerimus and Shaylin  d20+13=23 d20+8=25
Tuesday February 7th, 2006 8:57:23 AM

Peerimus and Shaylin move along the road side by side. The warm breeze and sun lift the druid's heart and his step is light. In such company it would be a real challenge to not be in a good mood. Never before and likely never again will his road lay out before him with his brother and two daughters of Father.

The eagles cry echoes across the area and Shayin gives his thigh a bump with her head. The cat sees something but does not seem to care and so either shall he. "I do not think it is anything we need be concerned with daughter." Peerimus stride remains easy, his weapon at his side.

Gilan moves along with the rest of the group, enjoying the trip more now that they are outside. He does not notice anything out of the ordinary as they pull up on what would appear to be the home of Queen Maab. He slows his pace as goes now...a little bit of worry and excitement running through his mind. "I once met Elbyron and now I am to meet his wife." It is a mixture of awe and maybe a tinge of fear that enters his voice as he speaks more to himself.

[Spot 13]

Bralin trails the group in a rear guard position, his accustomed place.

Airin calls his warning, and Peerimus makes his reply.

The dwarf looks but sees nothing. However, he knows animals have keener senses, and remains alert.

DM Kelly
Tuesday February 7th, 2006 6:20:50 PM

Shaylin and Erwen both see or sense something, but are not able to communicate it to the group. Weapons are grasped by some, but Peerimus tries to calm the group. You continue forward, where you can see the palace over the tops of the trees.

The grounds about the palace are beautiful. Hundreds of different plants, many hanging heavy with fruit and flower, fill the grounds. Birds, some plain but many colorful, seem to be busy gathering nectar and eating the fruits and seeds. Small animals also are in abundance, busy feeding.

As you walk down the trail, it seems that the vines are reaching out towards you, but shrink back to allow you to pass. Eventually, you reach the palace door. It is carved with ruins of nature, and seems very lifelike.

You pause by the door, and the forest becomes silent. Looking about, you see many eyes of the forest creatures looking at you with curiosity.

Kendry
Wednesday February 8th, 2006 2:30:37 AM

'Hello, friends,' Kendry greets the curious eyes in sylvan. 'We're here to meet your mistress.'

"I wonder if it is permitted to pick the fruit, here," he says aloud. "Perhaps best to ask, first."

If there is a knocker or a bell, he uses it. If not, he just gives a three-tap rap with his knuckles on the palace door.

Tishe' and Snout
Wednesday February 8th, 2006 3:54:22 AM

What a wondrous place! Tishe' has to twirl around in delight at the bounty that is displayed around Queen Maab's domain.

She sees the animals, but then again, isn't that only natural? She is much too preoccupied with worrying about knocking on a door.

"Oh look, a yellow butterfly!"

Snout rolls his eyes and grunts at Nezamil.

If Erwen seems to be more relaxed now, Airin calls her down. The eagle quickly descends to sit on her forearm.

"What was that all about you crazy girl?" Airin says to erwen (without a speak with animals spell so no reply is expected), "You had us all worried back there"

Once last time Airin glances back at the forest behind her, still having an uncanny feeling that something was or is wrong.

Then she looks at the Castle and at Kendry's remark she also noticed the eyes looking at all of them.

"Hello there!" Airin says in Druidic "We've come to see her Majesty Queen Maab"

When Kendry speaks in sylvan, there is a stir in the forest. The stir turns to many small gasps when Airin mentions in druidic that they wish to see the Queen.

Stepping out from a large oak trunk near the door is the most beautiful creature you have ever seen. She is grace and beauty and stands just over 5 feet tall, with very feminine features. Draped over her is a sheer covering, which seems to be made of delicate webs. Her features show through.

She steps toward Kendry, and speaks in Sylvan:

Gilan looks to the dryad that just appeared and is teasing, well maybe not, poor Kendry. He has a feeling that Kendry maybe on the losing end of this if she decides to use her true charms. With Peerimus moving forward to take care of it he shakes his head and grins.

Moving over to stand by Kendry he lays a hand upon the little man's shoulder. *in sylvan*"This little brother is spoken for...but my brother there is available for you to "play" with." He indicates Peerimus with his other hand. He keeps up his own defenses as he watches her closely not at all worried for his own safety at this time.

Glancing to Tishe' he gives her a slight smile as he lets his hand slip off Kendry's shoulder. He brings both hands up to his head and using his fingers makes what appear to be little horns poking up. *in druid*"Want me to see if one is about?" [Fort 24]

Bralin's eyes scan over forest creatures and forest alike. His nature bound comrades are most intersted in the girl from the tree, but as they are all speaking in a tongue he doesn't understand, he gradually loses interest in the conversation. The dwarf examines the girl. She is very attractive. For a non-dwarf.

Mayhap if she had a beard.....

Bralin mentally shrugs and continues to scan about for possible dangers. The nymph/dryad/whatever appears under control.

Kendry (2nd post)  d20+6=22
Friday February 10th, 2006 10:09:31 AM

In the halfling tongue, Kendry says to Airin, 'Not to worry, love. You yourself hold me under your spell, Airin, and I'm not available for others. I told the nymph her eyes are dim indeed if your beauty she cannot see. I think there's no need for swords, though, dear. Let us not shed blood at Maab's doorstep. Who knows? Perhaps this Nymph is the Lady herself, come to test our hearts.' He gives her hand a squeeze, and knocks again, importunately.

[Spot 22 for general purposes - does he notice Podo's blindness?]

Tishe' can't help but notice the blinding beauty of the nude woman before them. "Would put my sisters to shame." The sight of the fey tugs at her eyesight, but Tishe' looks away. (Fort: Cha: 17, 21 with Nature's Lure)

And gets even more red faced on seeing Gilan's motion of two fingers sticking up like horns on his head. She is all so embarrassed and pleased, and frightened that someone else remembers what Tishe' has gone through with fey creatures! She is only able to stand, red-faced, unable to say anything.

Snout is a reptile, completely different from a human form, but the magic is such from the nymph that he is struck blind with her beauty.

Gilan watches the dryad as she turns on the real charm. He finds that he is unaffected by her charms, much like he expected, and a low growl starts in his throat. *in sylvan* "Would you really like to play my lady?" He once again smiles showing off his pointed canines as he eyes her up and down.

Ciaran drops to the ground and lays there. He is getting bored of all this and is no bothered in the least by the charms of this...well female.

The beauty of the nymph is without equal, and all look upon her with wonder. Yet though her beauty is great, none are affected save Podo. Never before has he seen such beauty, and his eyes stop working. No point in sight, as all will disappoint in the future.

Perhaps it was the comments about Airin, but the nymph's beauty dims somewhat in the eyes of Kendry. He knocks upon the door, calling yet again for 'Mother'. He states to both the nymph and Airin that the nymph does not hold sole title to beauty.

Gilan offers to play, as did Peerimus (rolled his save). The nymph looks the group over, and is shocked that all eyes are able to meet hers, save one.

In common, she says:

"Where are you from, that you are not blinded by my beauty? Surely you have looked upon others who are even more beautiful than I."

A look of sadness comes to her face, like she has just discovered that her beauty may not be as she thought.

"Why do you seek Mother?"

She does not make eye contact with Airin, afraid that she may find beauty in a small and simple girl.

OOC: All notice Podo's blindness, as the nymph's look confirms he cannot see.

Tishe' and Snout
Sunday February 12th, 2006 10:35:55 PM

Almost too embarrassed to endure, Tishe' sits down and tries to breathe normally, putting her head between her knees. A twelve foot length of crocodile wraps around her and provides support, its large triangular head resting by her knees where the human absently scratches an eye ridge.

Obviously, she's not paying too much attention to the non-threatening situation. :)

Kendry
Monday February 13th, 2006 3:02:02 AM

"I' truth, lady of the water, pulchritude of your sort is rare." Kendry looks over at Podo. "There's an old saying: 'Beauty is as beauty does.'" He returns his attention to the nymph. "If you use your beauty to harm those who mean you no harm, then some might deem that a wicked thing, something that shows a darkness of soul. And if not wicked, then at least, capricious, and showing no discretion. We, though men and women who know war, have come to this place with peaceful intent.

"If you would have beauty that goes deeper than skin and bone, then I would counsel that you seek beauty of soul, and beauty of the spirit. Seek peace and pursue it. Learn what kindness means. Understand that though love can wait until the right time to give, lust can never wait to get. Learn patience and forebearance, and search for wisdom and knowledge. And find out what justice and equity mean."

Then, placing his hand on Podo's shoulder, he says, "And, if you harm one who meant you no harm, see if there is something you might do to make things right. Beauty of character shows forth in deeds."

Though Kendry could try to answer her question about why they seek 'Mother,' he already has told her something about this, and so will leave it to others in the group to choose what, if anything, they will share with her in this regard.

And, he is pleased that Airin possesses a fair measure of this beauty of character that he speaks of. Come to think of it, she's pretty nice to look at on the outside, too...

He realizes of a sudden that he is aroused just thinking of her, and tells himself that he'd better heed his own advice about love vs lust. He blushes, and decides to sublimate the surge in energy by focusing on the needs of his friend and cousin, Podo, and trying to think how he might help him.

Airin and Erwen
Monday February 13th, 2006 8:40:35 AM

Airin is relieved when she hears Kendry's words and removes her hand from the hilt of her sword. Instead now she waits for the doors to open.

She does look straight at the Nymph daring her to challenge Airin again.

Peerimus and Shaylin
Monday February 13th, 2006 8:56:05 AM

Peerimus drinks in the Nymph's beauty, though he knows it is terribly dangerous to do so. His pleasant thoughts are quickly dismissed as Kendry continues to add insult to injury and the druid's eyes darken. Shaylin can feel the change instantly and the hair across her neck bristles as a throaty growl rolls in her throat.

Peerimus turns looking down towards Kendry. "I will not stand by while you insult angels and prattle on about mortal views and moralities to one of Mother's true children. You fall about yourself to drink in every word and movement committed by Alemi, Domi and all they touched and knew. You WILL treat Mother and Father and Their children with equal respect and homage."

At this point he looks over at Podo, "You say beauty was used to casue harm, I say such beauty should not be forever restrained and hidden, but shared. It is our frailty and weakness as mortals which create the harm, not the beauty and not the creature blessed by it."

Peerimus looks back again to the nymph a more calm look upon his face. His eyes begin to light again as he speaks, "We are from a distant land and believe that we can help Mother's deeply troubled and foul state. I am Peerimus, blessed son and I can tell you with all honesty that I have never before nor likely will again have seen such perfection as you have shown to me. I thank you for your generous gift." Peerimus ends with a deep bow.

Monday February 13th, 2006 10:15:00 AM

Peerimus is upset, but for the life of him Bralin can't determine the cause. A possible rift between his companions has the dwarf nervous, all the moreso because he doesn't know which side to take.

Podo's blindness is a tangible problem, and Bralin concentrates on it.

[Knowledge Religion check - 23]
"Tis a divine spell which will remove your blindness," he states to the halfling. "Yet I have not the ability. Mayhap Nezamil?"

Kendry
Monday February 13th, 2006 10:28:53 AM

Kendry looks up at Peerimus and listens to his rebuke. "I am willing, Peerimus, to give honor to whom honor is due, and respect to whom respect is due. Angel? An angel is a messenger. When faced with an angel, one ought determine whom the angel serves, and whether the message given matches the character and purposes of the putative sender.

"So, one should not seek wisdom or betterment? And we are not all children, and can we not speak with our siblings? And is instruction on what is right and good, as opposed to what is inappropriate, to be kept from others?

"I have no want of respect toward Maab. She is worthy, indeed, from all I have gathered. And I would have us do what we can to her benefit, Peerimus."

DM Kelly

An argument breaks out between Kendry and Peerimus, and the beautiful nymph looks back and forth between them. The short one considers her beauty only skin deep, and her actions wicked or thoughtless. The wild one knows though. She cannot help being what she is. Only by sheer will can she hold back her beauty. Is it her fault that some cannot abide her? Maab made her such.

Yes, the wild one knows.

She smiles at Peerimus, and says in a gentle voice:

"You are wise, and know Mother's creations well. I am pleased to meet you Peerimus. I am sorry that the short ones do not see as you. Clearly I have done nothing, save given some kind words to this one. I now see that he is blinded by love and allegiance to those who would be gods. Alemi and Domi seem to be building up followers and power, I fear they have great ambitions. Do they not see that Mother has created all?"

She gestures around, and many creatures come from the trees to look at the strange visitors who argue among themselves. Dryads, gnomes, sprites and all types of forest animals watch.

"You say you can help Mother's foul mood? Would you like to meet her?"

Tishe' and Snout
Tuesday February 14th, 2006 2:03:16 AM

As nothing else does, the nymph's words penetrate Tishe's embarrassed reverie. That and the fact that there seems to be less, well, sexual tension filling the air, allows the mystic to get back on more familiar ground.

"Meet the Mother?" she asks with brown eyes alight, "The true embodiment of all nature?"

Snout remains curled about her.

Gilan and Ciaran
Tuesday February 14th, 2006 3:24:30 AM

Gilan just shakes his head at the play between Peerimus and Kendry. "My brother is right little one... I once met a dryad near her tree with my pack... she had the same problem that the young nymph has here." He looks to the nymph and gives her an incline of his head and a smile. "For her to hold back a gift given to her by Mother Wold is unconceivable... it takes great restraint, much as I feel when the urges of my more primal form take me." He looks around to the woods with a longing that sets him to shivering. "Even now I feel the need to take to the woods... to shed my human form and live out my time as one animal or another."

He reaches out to take the nymph's hand and he brings it up slowly to kiss it. "Please do not hide your beauty that Mother Wold gave you." He looks to the others with a genuine smile. "My friends can talk to the Lady... would you show me around?" He figures that anything he misses will get back to him and he would do much to aleve the nymph's feelings. "What of your water... is it cool and clear?" His eyes sparkle as he asks a few more questions of the area around the house.

Ciaran seems to roll his eyes as he lays down upon the ground. He makes no move to do anything else as he cannot understand human ways.

Airin and Erwen

Airin listens to Peerimus and Gilan and has to admit that there is at least some truth in their words.

Airin's puzzled and thoughts race through her mind: "Maybe I should have given her the benefit of the doubt, after all she can't help it that Mother Nature made her this way... but she made Goblins and Kobolds as well didn't she?"

Not able to respond to any arguments Airin waits and can only nod slightly when the Nymph asks if they want to meet Mother.
Airin's not immune to this considering she "Half a rogue half a druid".

At the mention of Domi's name by the wild one the dwarf chimes in " yes a meeting would indeed be useful "

Peerimus and Shaylin

Peerimus's hear tinges slightly as Podo asks to be lead about due to his loss of sight. Unfortunately he could not fix it then and there, like the cleric he had to wait until morning. Turning his head slightly towards Podo he offers, "I too have to wait until morning, but will do so." Peerimus does not respond to the comments on Alemi and Domi, such things might simply create more questions and discussion on the topic. The druid wanted neither.

Instead he says, "I have been blessed in many ways." his head turns to look and offes a smile to the animals and other creatures looking upon the meeting. "To meet with Mother would be the second grandest thing I can think of doing."

Kendry
Wednesday February 15th, 2006 10:23:30 AM

So as to soften the tenor of the conversation, Kendry again turns his attention to the nymph. "Lady, we should introduce ourselves. I am Kendry. This is my lady love, Airin. It's just that... where I come from, marriage and fidelity are honored, and the joys of intimacy reserved for one's life partner. Children then have both father and mother them to raise, and train, and love and nurture.

"You are beautiful, indeed. And, though you spoke ill of my love moments ago - and I answered your words, I would that there be peace between us. Pray, tell us your name. And, yes, we would see Mother, if we might."

DM Kelly
Wednesday February 15th, 2006 11:21:20 AM

Tension subsides as the talk of meeting 'Mother' comes up. The nymph drinks in the compliments that come to her.

"Oh, my grove and spring are without equal."

She looks between Peerimus and Gilan.

"You would find it lovely indeed. Let us play, Mother is busy anyway."

Then a murmur comes from the dryads and sprites, and the nymph says:

"Forgive me, I get distracted easily. My name is Arethusa, I am among the first of Mother's children. They sense what I have forgotten, that your visit here is of importance. They will seek her, and let her know you are here."

The dryads, sprites and gnomes suddenly disappear into the forest garden, calling out softly as they go.

Arethusa touches the door, and upon her touch the wood changes and grows. Soon a handle appears on the door. With a turn, she opens the door.

"Please, come in, we will wait."

You enter a large room where the pillars that support the roof look like living trees. The carpet is soft moss, and a natural spring creates a small waterfall and stream that flows through the room. Seats are made of carved wood. One seat sets apart from the others near the waterfall. It is carved depictions of every creature you have ever seen or heard of. Staring at the chair, the figures seem to shape and shift, although it is very difficult to concentrate upon one part of the chair.

"Mother should be along soon. You may drink of the spring if you are thirsty."

Kendry
Wednesday February 15th, 2006 3:31:55 PM

Kendry guides Podo along the way. In a quiet voice he describes what he sees, trying to capture some of the wonder of it all. "Thank you, Arethusa," he says when she invites the party to drink from the spring. Kendry does so, scooping up the water in his hand and bringing it to his lips, and into his mouth.

Tishe' and Snout
Thursday February 16th, 2006 1:00:17 AM

Entering the House of Maab, Tishe' walks in like she moved through the grand temple of Alemi. Her eyes are never still, taking in everything and she becomes enraptured by the chair, watching the figures change and dance in front of her eyes.

"Oh, theres a unicorn, and a badger... an eagle, no wait vulture. How cute, its a hyena!"

Snout needs no second invitation. Here in front of the reptile is the first body of water he has seen since his human found her friends in that city! Without breaking stride, he walks up and immerses himself in as much as he can, eyes closing in ecstasy.

Peerimus and Shaylin
Thursday February 16th, 2006 8:57:04 AM

Peerimus smiles again as the door opens and he moves inside immediately and even though a 12' crocodile lies in the water, he lies on his stomach and dips his hand in to take a drink. Shaylin sits like a coiled spring not remotely calm about what he is doing.

Rolling onot his back, Peerimus then sits, "Arethusa. You said you were among Mother's first children. Could you tell me more of her and possibly Father?"

Then Airin turns around, waiting to see what will happen next. Preparing for the one called 'Mother'

DM Kelly

Upon the invitation of Arethusa the group settles into the room. As soon as you enter Snout waddles over and slips into the pool of water. Arethusa raises an eyebrow, but does not say anything. Instead, she walks over to the waterfall and cups her hands, letting them fill with water. She brings her cupped hands to her mouth, drinking in the water.

Those who drink of the water find it very cool and refreshing, somehow it tastes unspoiled. Never before had you thought that water tasted spoiled, but from now on you will never be satisfied with any other water you taste.

Peerimus asks Arethusa of Mother and Father. She finishes her drink, and says:

"There is so much to say, yet looking upon the throne says it all. Creatures of all kinds call her Mother and Eberyon father. Without them, we do not exist. Yet of late, he has other mates and Mother is angry with him."

As Arethusa speaks, the waterfall begins to glisten and sparkle, like countless diamonds and silver. Arethusa glances, and says:

"She comes."

Queen Maab steps through the waterfall, droplets of water hang from her as though she is encrusted with diamonds. The jewels fall to the floor, and yet her gown remains embedded with silver and diamonds. Droplets sparkle from her skin, almost looking to be part of her. She looks both young and ageless.

She steps into the room and moves gracefully to the throne. Sitting upon it, the creatures carved are even more animated, moving about the chair in an endless game of life.

She looks at Arethusa and says in a song-like voice:

"I am told we have important guests, who have you brought into my home?"

Gilan and Ciaran
Friday February 17th, 2006 12:05:16 AM

Gilan enters the building but does not partake of the water there. He has a feeling that water would lose it's taste to him unless it was this water and he cannot chance that.

As Maab enters he drops to one knee and bows his head. "An honor to at last meet Mother Wold." He does not raise his head until he is bidden to as he has the deepest respect for this woman.

Ciaran lets his tongue loll out as he watches the woman enter. His tail is soon wagging and he seems to be meeting someone that he remembers from before his real birth.

Kendry
Friday February 17th, 2006 1:34:20 AM

"Podo, I already described the throne to you, and the waterfall, and the water" [subsumed in prior post]. Kendry fills his water flasks with this water of waters after he takes his first drink.

He listens to Arethusa's explanation of the domestic life of these two creators. It's not a good domesticity. And, as she explains the pain that Eberyon's infidelity brings - his 'other mates' - Kendry wonders that she, the nymph, does not understand his own reluctance to cause the sort of pain in the one whom he loves that 'Father' causes in 'Mother.' He does not think of Eberyon as his father. As creator? Well, yes, in a sense. But, still, is he The Creator, or a subcreator? Who is behind this all? It doesn't make sense to Kendry. Besides, Eberyon is his cousin. Or, will be.

And then comes Maab through the waterfall, as the halfling tops off his second water bag, then moves and sits herself the throne.

He rises, holds out one hand for Airin, takes Podo's arm in his other, and whispers, "Lady Maab now sits on the throne of life I told you of." Kendry's body tells Podo what to do, as he moves forward and kneels before this Queen of the Fae. He does so in a way that allows both Airin and Podo to choose whether they bow or not with him before the throne.

"Kendry shouldn't you ask mother if you are allowed to take her water with you?" Airin says as she feels this water is very precious.

"Airin Moondancer Turnbell, humble halfling from the Crescent Valley." she says softly to Mother as she introduces herself.

The arrival of Maab breaks the girl's reverie of the throne. Taking several steps back, she uses all the charm school ettiquete her mother tried to hammer between her ears to execute the best possible curtsie.

"Mother", she says, and becomes unaccountably tongue-tied.

Snout becomes animated when Maab enters, and though he doesn't leave his pool, he slithers to the closest side to where the Mother is and is attentive to whatever she says.

Arethusa looks down as the Queen speaks to her, and those who look towards her see that her beauty is somewhat diminished in the presence of Maab.

"I do not know them, save it is told they helped Alemi and Domi survive an attack of the monsters. They have come her, and speak many of the words that are known to only a few. That they are strangely dressed you can see. They seek an audience with you."

Queen Maab looks carefully at the group, who are before her with heads bowed. In a calm yet powerful voice she says:

"Arise, you need not bow before me. Please, tell me who you are and from whence you came. Most importantly, why have you come here seeking me."

She nods towards Airin as she introduces herself, and then awaits the answers to her questions.

Kendry passes a flask to Podo, who drinks deeply from the new water. Feeling almost as if electricity was flowing through him, he looks towards the Queen and is amazed at her beauty. Though it takes but a moment, he realizes he can now see.

Tishe' feels that Maab knows nearly everything anyways, and can easily understand time travel and the current troubles. And so she plunges ahead.

"Mother," the brown-haired mystic begins, "much of our knowledge comes from learning about you and your creations. We are from a time far in the future and are having difficulties with Ebyron. "Lady Maab, we are honored to meet with you. My name is Kendry Leafwin Pipewood, and it is as Tishe' has told you.

"I have many questions," he says, "but would not burden you overmuch with my own curiosity. I shall go to the one that I believe concerns us the most. " It is as Tishe and Kendry have spoken we seek answers from the past to help solve some issues in our time "

"we only have bits and pieces of infomation which at this point isn't enough to fairly make a choice to guide us in seeking answers in how to resolve the diffrences of our time " adds the dwarf

Gilan slowly stands and gives Queen Maab another bow of respect. "My name is Gilan DeKasparl EnVosh...one of your children my Queen." He lets the others do the talking as he takes in the room they stand in for the first time.

Podo thanks the Queen for restoring his sight. She looks at him with a kind look, but shakes her head.

"I have not restored anything to you. You have drunk of the first water, which restores that which has been lost. You are young, but stay here and drink of the water and you will never grow old."

Queen Maab looks intently as Tishe' describes where and when they came from.

"So it is as I have heard, you are from the future. How far into the future is your time?"

Kendry mentions an orb, and she looks directly at him, with somewhat of a shocked look.

"So, you know of the Feystone. Gargul possesses it, and it is he who created it."

Nezamil introduces himself, mentioning the Brotherhood of Domi.
"So, it is as I have thought. Domi seeks to gain status, and is remembered well in the future. How do you regard him? Do you also know of Alemi in the future? Perhaps they have taken my place, and Eberyon and I are lost to the ages. Is it not alway so? Those who create are forgotten, while those who gather are remembered."

She acknowledges all greetings, and then says:

"Why come to me? What do you expect to find out?"

"The First Water?" Kendry quietly repeats.

"Nay, neither you nor Eberyon are forgotten, Lady Maab," Kendry answers her. "Does not the honor we show you assure you that your name, and your presence, do continue?"

"Uh, Lady, was it Gargul who made it - the Feystone, or your husband who did so? I was under the impression it was the latter, who gave it unto Gargul." Maab's wording and pronoun choice were such that the bard is unsure which person it was that she said made the fey stone. The tapestry would indicate it was Eberyon who made it.

He does not add that her words confirming that Gargul now possesses the stone answers one of their questions. "Do you know how he now uses the stone?"

He also wonders to himself how Maab learned that the group has come from the future, before Tishe' revealed that to her. What sort of communications does she have? Would Gargul and Eberyon also have heard likewise? And just what sort of games might they be getting themselves into?

As to how far in the future their time is compared to her and her contemporaries, Kendry himself is unsure, as he has heard differing timelines from differing sources - not to mention the moments of re-creation in intervening years. But he thinks it may be in the order of millennia.

Tishe' and Snout
Tuesday February 21st, 2006 1:00:56 PM

The brown tressed girl looks a little puzzled, thinking back on all her history lessons. "Truely, Mother," she begins, "I do not know how far away in time we come from. Several ages have past, for sure."

Tishe' doesn't wonder how Maab knows of rumors of their coming, but she gives Kendry a look of understanding. What one Power knows, so too will the others be able to know. Certainly, the group can't assume thier presense is a secret.

"You are honored and revered, though not alone in the Wold, Mother. I seek knowledge through arcane studies and your secrets that you have left us to find, and then blend them together for new wonders."

Snout just smiles fondly at his human and returns his admiration towards the Queen of Nature.

Gilan and Ciaran
Tuesday February 21st, 2006 4:02:12 PM

Gilan shakes his head as if he had been slapped in the face by Grymash. "As my sister and fellow packmate says, My Queen, you are not forgotten in our time nor will you ever be." He seems to be at a loss for what else to say when the next set of words just seem to flow out. "As long as the Wold herself exhists, along with all her creatures and wonders...you will exhist there." A low growl escapes from him as his eyes narrow. "None can change that...you will always be in my heart."

Ciaran who's tail had been wagging has since stopped and he lets out a menacing growl of his own. Though he cannot understand his brother, he does know his feelings and he agrees.

Gilan drops a hand to his brothers head and rubs it lightly. "My brother agrees." He has taken in all that has been said and he finds that some of the blame has shifted from Eberyon. He glances to Peerimus to see what he might be thinking.

Peerimus and Shaylin
Tuesday February 21st, 2006 5:22:40 PM

Peerimus remains sitting and looks up with a smile at the asking of introductions. "Peerimus." he simply states with a nod and by placing his hand upon the leopard next to him. "She is Shaylin." It certainly is no surprise to him Maab, Mother Wold has known of thier precence and actions. After all, they were walking upon the natural land. The plants could and would surely talk to her as much as they to him.

As Maab ruminates on her falling from the Wold and that of Ebyron, Peerimus can not help but think of the story as he knows it places Maab in control of Ebyron's fateful sleep. The elves awoke him and the Wold is in tormoil and now he finds himself in the physical presence of Maab and why did they seek her out. Guidance, counsel, warning? Peerimus was not precisely sure.

He decides to back the play of his fellows, "It is as the halfling Kendry has said. We are on the trail of the Feystone." Peerimus looks to Gilan and then to Kendry, "Show her the tapestry."

Kendry heeds Peerimus, conditionally
Tuesday February 21st, 2006 7:47:46 PM

Kendry retrieves a scrollcase, and pulls the tapestry forth. "Lady Maab - before I open this, I tell you that it is, to our understanding, from your time, and found by us in our own. Shall I show it to you?"

He knows how Alemi refused to look upon it. How will Maab decide on this matter?

If she tells him she wants to see it, he unfurls it for her to gaze upon. If she declines, he returns it, unopened, to the scroll case.

Bralin

DM Kelly
Tuesday February 21st, 2006 8:28:51 PM

Answering Kendry, she says:
"Gargul stole the rings of ascension and created the Feystone."

Queen Maab brightens as she finds that she is not forgotten.

"I had feared that in the future that people would take Nature for granted, and that greed would cause the land to become spoiled. I am glad to know that Nature is revered, and that I am not forgotten."

"So you seek the Feystone and have something to show me."

When Kendry speaks of the tapestry, she says:

"I cannot answer your questions if I do not know of what you seek. Show it to me."

Kendry produces the tapestry, and Maab looks at it intently. A shocked look comes upon her face.

"What you see is the hand of Gargul holding the Feystone, putting fey souls into the monsterkind. Eberyon looks on smiling, he knows what Gargul is doing and does not look to care. Eberyon creates Fey at will, he is past caring. A mother cares though, the souls are taken from those whom I have birthed."

An angry look comes upon her face.

"Eberyon and Gargul have gone too far. I was afraid that Nature would be forsaken in the future, and I have not looked at my own time. I have been foolish, looking for things in the distance and not seeing that which is near."

Kendry
Wednesday February 22nd, 2006 1:22:06 AM

Although Kendry agrees inwardly with Maab in her evaluation of Eberyon, as he has personally witnessed his cavalier attitudes towards people, his lasciviousness and adulterous ways. Based on recent statements, he surmises that Peerimus holds Eberyon in higher regard. The halfling distains the wanton use of power unrestrained by law, or goodness, or even basic ... kindness. A creator unworthy of his creation. What a shame.

However, what a wife may say of her husband, she may not appreciate from another's mouth.

Once Maab looks away from the tapestry while digesting its import, Kendry carefully rolls it up, and places it again within the scroll case.

"What would your counsel be, good Lady?" Kendry asks. "Shall we remove the feystone from Gargul's possession? Have you insights that would accomplish our purpose, to check the Fey King's ... destructive exuberance in our time, as well as to help you to protect the souls of your children in this day?"

He also turns to Peerimus. "I am concerned about your take on things."

Tishe' and Snout
Wednesday February 22nd, 2006 5:06:59 AM

"You are best able to deal with what goes on in this time, Mother." Tishe' seems thoughtful, carefully considering her words. "Our quest has led us here to find a way to help our own time. How to best help is where we are in contention. Can we retrain Ebyron from his excesses and retain his benefits? And how can this tapestry and the Feystone help us in our goal?"

Airin and Erwen
Wednesday February 22nd, 2006 8:25:20 AM

As Tische and Kendry do a fantastic job, Airin quietly sits down next to the fountain looking into it ... caught in day dreaming...

Peerimus and Shaylin
Wednesday February 22nd, 2006 10:13:04 AM

Peerimus sits back slightly as Kendry speaks of the tapestry and Maab asks for it to be opened. His face seems to be linked with that of the Fey queen, falling and tightening in harmony with her own. The druid falls into though. Gargul, god of the dead. Feared, loathed and often hated in the Wold, yet i have met some heros that followed him, claimed him misunderstood. A striking similarity to Ebyron and now it is confirmed the two have quite a history. Ebyron is far older than Gargul, than almost anything. Is that the trap of immortality then? One in which Ebyron would save his creations from? Perhaps, perhaps no.

kendry and Tishe's voice pull him from contemplation and he found himself nodding as Kendry introduced the idea of acquiring the Feystone. "I believe Kendry is correct Tishe. Our path leads against Gargul for the Feystone. I wonder what we may do with it if it win it."

Kendry's question elicits a raised brow from and a sideways cocked look from the druid. "My take on things? You're question likely is much more direct. I am undecided, but I am certain that this discussion can wait for a more appropriate time."

Peerimus continues then, "Mother, has said Gargul is in possession of the Rings of Ascension and created the Feystone. Removing the Feystone from him will likely not be enough. We may actually need to wrest the Rings from his grasp." Peerimus falls silent to let the weight of the possibility sink in with everyone.

Bralin
Wednesday February 22nd, 2006 11:42:18 AM

Bralin waits and listens. The next course of action is not clear, and the dwarf is content to stay outside of the discussion while putting his mind to the issue.

Gilan and Ciaran
Wednesday February 22nd, 2006 1:23:58 PM

Gilan continues to listen intently as he strokes Ciaran's head. His eyes never leave Maab as she pours over the tapestry piece and then gives her own verdict on it.

He lets out a small snort and laugh as Peermius speaks up about wresting the rings from Gargul. "That should be fun." He does not comment further but he is still undecided as to what to do with Ebyron. It is true that most of the fae get bored rather easily and it might be that Gargul offered him something that he could not refuse.

Nezamil
Wednesday February 22nd, 2006 3:22:55 PM

The dwarf listens not so intently to the discussion and looks about the room and its contents until he see's the shocked look on Queen Maab's face and the next words that tumble from her tongue...... "What you see is the hand of Gargul holding the Feystone, putting fey souls into the monsterkind. Eberyon looks on smiling, he knows what Gargul is doing and does not look to care"

"That is madness " blurts out the Cleric of Domi " that is why they hid the tapestry and all its learnings"

Nezamil stands frozen ....suddenly at a loss for words as his mind spins with this new insight of what has happened in the past

DM Kelly
Wednesday February 22nd, 2006 9:34:23 PM

Talk turns to Eberyon and his "excesses and exuberance", and it is plain that Queen Maab is upset with her estranged husband. Maab calms herself, and soon her dignity sitting in the Throne of Life shows no trace of turmoil.

"Eberyon is my husband, and one side of me has fond memories of our time together. The passion was intense. But I was created to feel that way. Now, however, at the same time I feel the positive memory, I burn with anger over what he has done to me and to the souls that he allows to be taken by Gargul. You say that he has 'excesses and exuberance' in your time. I can see how that would happen.

His Chaotic nature is more an indirect thing. It happens because he lives. It builds up within him. If allowed to come out slowly, it is manageable. However, if it becomes bottled up, then it would come out in a burst as if an overflowing cup was spilling over. Stange and wonderful things may happen, but the results would be difficult for a mortal to live with.

He can focus it and direct it if he has a great need. However, his moods are fickle and he can usually only focus on a source of anger for a short time. This is how Gargul got away with first stealing the rings of ascension used to create Feyworld, and using them to create the Feystone. I think though that Eberyon has underestimated Gargul. While the souls are taken from the fey to put into monsters, it weakens Eberyon."

Peerimus speaks, and Maab listens intently.

"They Rings are no longer in Gargul's possession. Alemi has rescued the Rings from Gargul, and has been trying to use them to contact his creator, The Jericho. I fear the old gods do not listen anymore. As for what to do with the Feystone if you are able to get it, that is difficult."

Maab sits and thinks, the life carved upon the chair seems to go in fast forward, and still she sits and contemplates. After a long silence, she says:

"You could bring me the Feystone."

Maab now has a look upon her face that is difficult to decipher, but the peaceful look she had a while back is gone.

"Whatever you do, do not let Eberyon have it."

Kendry
Wednesday February 22nd, 2006 10:49:05 PM

"If we somehow obtain it, we shall do our utmost to ensure that it does not come under the King's control," Kendry answers her. He looks to each of his companions, to see if they countenance this assertion. "Are we agreed on that?"

Tishe' and Snout
Thursday February 23rd, 2006 5:39:58 AM

"Or Gargul", states the plain-faced woman.

"And it looks like we are going to have to weave into Gargul's stronghold and pick the stone. But what do we do with it then? And how do we get shuttlecocked to our own time?"

Airin and Erwen
Thursday February 23rd, 2006 9:12:49 AM

Airin swims in the clear crystal blue fountain of the very first water, surrounded by the most beautiful creatures Queen Maab ever created ...

euhm... hey looks like the discussion just got to a closing point. let's pay attention...

Peerimus and Shaylin
Thursday February 23rd, 2006 4:21:55 PM

Peerimus gives a half hearted chuckled to Gilan's comment. "Oh come now brother, how hard could it be." Maab then informs that Alemi has them, he smiles and adds, "There you see? One task done."

Maab falls into brief thought and then offers herself as a keeper of the stone and warning against giving it to Ebyron. Peerimus falls silent in contemplation, looking at an imagined distant point in the water and does so through Kendry's statement. To Tishe's words he nods, "It would appear that is what we must do, though..." he pauses and then turns back towards Maab, "With the Feystone Gargul can transfer souls, Fey to the monster kind, can it reverse and are Fey the only possible target? May I be bold enough to ask why it would be so dangerous in Ebyron's hands?"

Shaylin tenses at the druid's side as if sensing the danger laid within the question and to whom it was directed.

Nezamil
Thursday February 23rd, 2006 9:33:23 PM

The dwarf regains his composure and listens intently to Queen Maab and the others talk.

When Queen Maab requests the Feystone "And of what use will you make of it?" inquires Nezamil "Wouldn't it be better to destroy it?"

DM Kelly
Thursday February 23rd, 2006 10:57:30 PM

The Queen has said much, yet still questions arise.

"I do not know if the Feystone can be used to reverse the process, or exactly how it might work. It was not until I saw the tapestry that I completely understood what was happening.

Eberyon will gain power from the stone, and will be even more uncontrollable. I would use the stone to, let us say, calm Eberyon. I do not know if you can destroy such a thing."

Tishe' and Snout
Friday February 24th, 2006 4:34:04 AM

"Again, I think we need to go walker and weave some shady picks in Gargul's lair to get the Feystone." She pauses expectantly, then fills her own silence.

"And for that we need to scout, gain information, get a plan to get in, get the 'Stone, and get out without getting killed."

"Planning like that isn't my strength, so who is our warleader?"

Snout is not interested in this conversation and continues to adore Maab.

Gilan and Ciaran
Friday February 24th, 2006 6:12:23 AM

Gilan gives a smile to Peerimus and then shakes his head. "Oh it could be real fun...but a little bit more dangerous than we might like." How often does assaulting the lair of a god sound interesting and exciting to that degree. With a sigh he can see where this is going and than again with the knowledge they have of the future...Eberyen is sealed away to sleep for some time.

Ciaran lays upon the floor and closes his eyes. He figures that he might as well get a little sleep.

Podo Danderfluff Pipewood

Peerimus and Shaylin

With a bow, a very low bow, "We are indebted to you Mother, as in all things. By your leave then."

Kendry
Saturday February 25th, 2006 12:47:30 AM

The halfling listens to the Queen and his friends. He is happy to see Airin enjoying the water, and thinks a dip in it would be rejuvenating.

Then, a thought occurs to him. "What if, dear Queen, the stone were brought to you, and your husband calmed. Might you then return it to us, that we might 'calm' him in our time, as well? Also - have you other means of calming him?" he asks.

Bralin
Saturday February 25th, 2006 11:44:12 AM

Bralin remains silent. The next task begins to take form - Retreive the Feystone from Gargul. The woman Tishe asks who is to be warleader, but no one responds.

The dwarf will not volunteer. With this group of comrades, few would listen to a leader anyway.

He waits, and listens.

Kendry
Saturday February 25th, 2006 5:09:20 PM

"Oh, another thought occurs, milady," Kendry says. "Have you visited Gargul's place? Is there anything you could tell us about it that might help us in our attempt? Layout, defenses, inhabitants, and the like?"

DM Kelly
Sunday February 26th, 2006 6:26:40 PM

Queen Maab accepts the thanks and bows offered her with a grace that you have seldom seen. Then right when she thinks her guest are ready to leave, Kendry asks another question.

"Well, it seems that the inquisitive one has another question. Kendry is it? Yes, well I have visited the temple of Gargul. It is not at all pleasant like my home. He lives East of here, about half a days journey. Fey creatures and animals tend to avoid the area, so as you travel you will see fewer of my offspring and more of the monsterkind. Gargul has been attracting more of them, and they have become more bold recently. Now I know it is because Fey souls have been put into the monsters. The souls seem to be corrupted in the process. Most of the activity at his temple is at night, they seem to rest during the day. As far as his temple, I don't know what I can tell you that will help. His throne is at the back of the temple, and he keeps pets about."

She frowns just a bit.

"Are you sure you are up to such a task. I think it could be very dangerous. I do not know what will happen if you die in your own past, before you were even born."

Tishe' and Snout
Monday February 27th, 2006 11:24:09 AM

Though loath to leave, Tishe' knows that she can't stay with the Wold Mother forever: there is more yet to be done.

She prepares herself to be ready and makes sure Snout wants to come along instead of resting in the sweet water.

The crocodile rolls his eyes off of Maab and to his human. Yes, she's getting ready to go, most probably into danger again. For a second, Snout looks at Nezamil and wonders if the dwarf will guard his human's back while the croc can stay with Maab. But no (shaking himself and getting out of the blessedly clear water) he will follow his human once more.

Airin and Erwen
Monday February 27th, 2006 11:40:08 AM

With the new heading in sight Airin prepares to go on the road again. They came here to do a job and Airin's willing to. Erwen seems eager as well.

Airin lets Kendry finish his talk with Queen Maab, and then as he to prepares to leave she goes over to him and puts her arm around him as they exit the palace. "Let's go love..."

Peerimus and Shaylin
Monday February 27th, 2006 5:55:09 PM

Peerimus looks to Maab, "There is no fear that the likes of Gargul and his filthy spawn can put into us dear Mother. I and my brother and your two daughters shall look after the others." Peerimus adds with a smile at the end looking towards Bralin and Nezamil with a wink, "and if all else fails, we'll sick the dwarves on them."

"Let us to our quest comrades, Mother surely has more important matters than entertaining us to see to." With another low bow, Peerimus turns and with a sharp pat to call Shaylin, heads out.

Podo
Monday February 27th, 2006 6:16:55 PM

"I'm in, Cuz! Let's go!" says Podo.

Bralin
Monday February 27th, 2006 8:34:23 PM

sick the dwarves on them?

Bralin wordlessly muddles through that unfamiliar phrase for a bit before deciding Peerimus is making a joke.

He says nothing, but follows his comrades out the door.

Mayhap an opportunity will appear later.

Nezamil
Monday February 27th, 2006 9:41:18 PM

" well looks like we know our next step on this journey " muses Nezamil " Thank you you for your assistance "

Nezamil steps over to the water fall and takes a drink then fills his waterskin up and prepares for the journey to Gargul's temple

Kendry
Monday February 27th, 2006 11:48:42 PM

"Well, I've heard of people born ahead of their time, your majesty," Kendry answers her. "If we don't make it, perhaps we were just born after our time. Thank you for your help and direction."

DM Kelly
Tuesday February 28th, 2006 12:03:08 AM

Snout waddles out of the clear stream, he seems somehow younger than before.

Peerimus takes leave of the Mother of all that is good, and tells her not to worry. She smiles as he mentions the dwarves.

"Yes, I'm sure these stout folks could set things right."

Podo is eagar to go, and Nezamil also takes leave of Queen Maab.

"Do be careful my children, the Wold seems to have become more dangerous as of late. Arethusa will see you safely out of my forest, and set you on the correct path."

At that, Arethusa stands. She seems to have been forgotten of late, but with the Queen present she is accustomed to such.

Arethusa touches the door, and again a handle forms that she turns and the door opens. You see many curious animals and fey creatures watching you.

Arethusa says:
"Back to your frolicking, they are just leaving."

She leads you back down the forest road and back towards the road that led you from the Oshirr house. When you get to the main road, she says:

"Continue East past the road to Oshirr house. Another 3 hours journey will lead you to Gargul's temple. It will be dusk as you get near. Best to find a place to spend the night, unless you mean to enter his temple at night."

She says goodbye and you travel east. It is as Queen Maab says, the natural creatures diminish as you move East, and once you pass the turn to Oshirr House, you see very few animals and no fey creatures.

There are still two hours to travel by your estimates, and the sun is sinking on the horizon.

Tishe' and Snout
Tuesday February 28th, 2006 4:22:10 AM

It takes most of the walk to the road before Tishe' notices that Snout looks like a lighter shade of green, that he has more bounce in his step, that his eyes are brighter, teeth fresher. "It looks like your stay with the Mother has done you good!" she tells her companion, who only grins back.

At the road, Tishe' understands it is time for a war footing again. Spells and wands in her satchel ready for Wart to rummage, check! Twelve foot crocodile to protect her back, check! Loaded crossbow, check!

"Time to teach Gargul to play nice with others. Remember, in this time he is not a god, and he is not partially good. This is not the Gargul that we know in our own time."

Airin and Erwen
Tuesday February 28th, 2006 5:02:13 AM

As they leave Queen Maab's Castle Airin takes a bow to the mother. "Pray for your children Mother"

Then of they go again.

Airin questions the group:

"Do we ride all the way to the Temple or should we go on foot once we get closer. Queen Maab warned us that the closer we get to teh Temple of Gargul, the more monsterkind we will find. I will send out Erwen once we're almost halfway to scout ahead."

With that Airin takes her crossbow and rides with the group.

Peerimus and Shaylin
Tuesday February 28th, 2006 2:42:00 PM

As the group begins to pass Oshire House towards the area where Gargul lives Peerimus speaks up. "If Gargul is more active at night and we are still 3 hours away, wouldn't it be better to just stay in the relative comfort and safety of Oshire House and strike out again at first light? We should not head into enemy territory to his guards strength merely to sleep in the open."

Kendry
Tuesday February 28th, 2006 3:06:17 PM

"'Twas a signal honor to meet you in this time, good Lady," he bids farewall to Queen Maab. He thanks Arethusa for her escort and directions. Not that he wants to rouse jealousy in Airin, but he kisses the nymph's hand as they depart from her. "May you live many years and golden," he tells her.

Once they are a mile out of earshot of Arethusa, Kendry says to Airin, "And may you and I share many years and golden, ourselves."

He hears the words of Tishe', and Airin's questions. "Most of us are on foot already - save our feathered friend," Kendry observes. "Erwen's scouting is helpful indeed."

"Excellent plan, Peerimus!" Kendry responds to the the druid's idea that they stay at the Oshirr House for the evening. "Let us do as our friend suggests," he encourages his fellows.

If such is agreed upon, Kendry is interested in seeing how members of the house are faring.

DM Kelly
Tuesday February 28th, 2006 8:52:31 PM

Upon Peerimus' suggestion, you decide to go back to the Oshirr House for the night. Upon entering the courtyard, you see that they have been busy cleaning up from the fight the night before. After a day of traveling, and the small amount of sleep you had the last night, everyone is feeling very tired. You are greeted as heroes, and offered a meal and the same rooms as you had before. Word is given that Alemi requests an audience with you before you leave the Oshirr House.

Gilan and Ciaran

Gilan has been quiet for some time now as he goes over his own plans in his head. The little comfort he has is that Gargul is not a god yet but still powerful in his own right. This is not going to be as easy as some think or he is a bloody human.

When the suggestion of going back to the Oshirr House he nods his head. "During the day would be better than...when his full force is not up." He does have a thought that does not settle well. "Then again...if he is even half as aware of us as Queen Maab he may know when we are coming."

This time he will settle down in the courtyard and drink in the time with nature, though it pales to what he has seen. When the morning comes he will be there for the meeting but tonight is for the outdoors and watching the night sky.

Kendry
Wednesday March 1st, 2006 12:32:47 AM

"Surely some of the opposing forces who managed to escape," Kendry concurs with the thought that Gilan expressed, "though their number be few, would have gotten word to Gargul - I keep on wondering, by the way, why the tapestry refers to him as Gargulus, but everyone here calls him Gargul?"

Kendry assents more than willingly to an audience with Alemi, whether after dinner or in the early morn. "We'll just want to be on our way not too long past sunrise, unless his Lordship have some intelligence - information, I mean - that would change that notion."

Kendry takes advantage of some of the downtime to jot some more in his journal, including some sketches of the Oshirr House, some of the students, and Alemi and Domi, too.

"Is Flower anywhere around these days?" he asks.

He'll take a walk with Airin. "How is all this sitting with you, Airin? What an amazing time for us to be here, don't you think?"

When time for the audience with Alemi comes, he will as a question similar to that he offered to Maab - looking for information about the layout and defenses of Gargul's place, and, while he's at it, he'll ask about Eberyon's dwelling.

Airin and Erwen
Wednesday March 1st, 2006 11:20:08 AM

"That sounds like a wonderfull idea Peerimus. Best thing to catch a good and safe night sleep before dealing with Gargul..."

Once back at the Oshir House she relaxes while some are on audience with Alemi once again. Later she enjoyes the walk with Kendry. Going up on the wall of the Oshir House once again where the battle was raging last night... this time they can quietly stroll around the castle that gives a great view of the surroundings... the traces of battle are still very real, but a peacefull feeling runs through Airin's body.
As they walk Airin crawls in Kendry's arms as the talk.

"It's been a fantastic time so far love. We make a good team don't we? Just be careful tomorrow...
I'm still somewhat confused that the Gods from our time seem to be just ... humans in this age. How then did they become Gods? At the same time it's confusing and interesting... You asked about Flower... what about the others? Where did the others came from?"

Tishe' and Snout
Wednesday March 1st, 2006 11:46:12 AM

The mystic and her croc (and the shy desert toad) move with the group back to Oshirr House for the night.

In the morning, she carefully selects spells out of her book arcana and meditates on the wonders of Mother Wold. Then, when the others are ready, she goes to the meeting with Alemi.

Tishe' fans herself and drinks large quantities of water at breakfast. "Is it just me, or is the breakfast unusually spicy today?"

Peerimus and Shaylin
Wednesday March 1st, 2006 12:09:11 PM

Peerimus spends the night with his brother Gilan in the courtyard. As the evening deepens and the the deep azure sky fades to black, Peerimus gazes up into the endless sky. "Brother? Have you thought on the fact our very actions appear to be the cause of Ebyron's slumber and thus awakeing and the reason we are here? It seems we are caught within a ring entwining upon itself."

Peerimus pats Shaylin at his side, as the leopard is gets up. "Time for hunting my love?, go on then." Looing back to Gilan, "The halflings are here for Ebyron and now Gargul. They claim relations and if true some indifferent acts at best evil most likely acts on the part of Ebyron and that is where I am torn. Ebyron IS the creator. He is Father Wold and created Mother. I have always looked to both of them, though until recently I knew not thier names. Ebyron for power and strength and Maab for protection and guidance. But now to see them such and to learn more first hand." Peerimus fades off and shakes his head.

The following morning Peerimus meditates upon his haunches atop the East wall as the sun splashes across the horizon. The night was long, but the hunter of the deep jungles of the Southern Continent has steeled his own resolve in the course of the future. Peerimus applies a thick red mud-like paint to most of his face, save a two finger wide stripe running from his left brow to his right neck jugular vein. Peerimus skips breakfast with the others and any meeting with Alemi.

OOC: Early post as I am traveling all day to a conference.

You awake early, and Alemi calls Kendry to meet with him before dawn. Any others who wish are also invited.

"I apologize for such an early meeting, but I understand you plan to leave soon. I have found that Gargul is adding souls to monsters. He once had possession of the Rings of Ascension which I have rescued from him. I have studied those rings yesterday, and have found that they have a residue of use that bear his mark. They also show he has created another object from them. That object I believe is how he adds the souls to these monsters. Please, if you acquire the device or know about it share that information with me. The souls let the monsters level up and increase their abilities more than ever before. I am afraid that in time we will not be able to repel them, and the monsters will extinguish us and our kind."

Kendry

Walking with Airin

Kendry enjoys the company of the engaging druidess and rogue. He is happy to draw her close as they lean on one of the parapets. "Yes, we do. My heart trusts in you." He considers her observation. "Yes, I've been thinking the same. Theology is not my strong suit, but it seems odd to have such a - uh - whimsical creator as Eberyon. If he is our creator - or co-creator with his wife, Maab - then who created him? Is he self-existent? We know he is not all powerful. Who is above him? And, yes, it is odd that the gods of our day are men and women of ancient times. Who knows? Under such an arrangement, perhaps some of our contemporaries may one day be gods, themselves. Then there's this Jericho. He's a power, a creator in his own right, from what I've gathered - but seeks none to worship him. Why not? Is there someone even above him? Some ultimate maker of all things? Or are we in some endless cycle? As most things seem to have beginning, middle and end... was there ever a time when only one was? These are things I think about sometimes, but I don't find clear answers, Airin. What ultimate purpose do we serve? What difference does what we do make?

"But, you know, though in some respects I can't grasp the answers to these questions - I believe - I in some sense know - that there are answers. The fact that we have a sense of right and wrong - though perhaps we make mistakes in the details from time to time - implies to me that there is right and there is wrong. And that therefore there must be some sort of ultimate law maker - a law giver. But who? And where? Why not make oneself known? Sure, we know some of the laws taught by the priests of Domi and Alemi, and others. But, since they - the gods, I mean - are people, in some respect, people like you and me - though I do not mean to make myself their equal - they are certainly superior in most respects - but they are born of a human father and a human mother, just as we were born of halfling parents.

"Then there are the gods of this time - of whom we have heard that they seem detached from the activities of this present day.

"What good are gods, if they care not for people?"

Kendry is silent for a time after making this last query. Then he adds, "Perhaps some would consider such words blasphemous. That's not my intent. I just really want to know."

What's up, Podo?

"You've been pretty quiet, cuz. Anything bothering you? Or do you just like to serve as counterpoint to my mouth?" he teases him.

Time with Alemi

Kendry makes sure that all are invited. He takes in what the Lord of the Oshirr House reports.

"If none of my companions now object, I am fully willing to let you know what we learn, Lord Alemi." He turns to his friends and companions and asks, "Have you questions or cautions on this matter?"

Gilan and Ciaran
Thursday March 2nd, 2006 12:35:35 AM

Gilan looks to Peerimus with a sigh. "I know not really...but Father is given to odd behavior...as much chaotic as nature herself. Mother is as you say, nurturing and caring but I feel that she could be worse than Father if angered...it is just slower to build." He lets his hand rest upon Ciaran's head as he tries to get his thoughts in order. "As for the halflings, they must go by their own experiences...but I will agree, it would seem that we will be responsible for Father's sleep in our future...what bothers me more is what Father says that will lead us to this decision." He stops rubbing the head of his brother and then gives a smile.

"Maybe Father asks for this as atonement for what he has done..." In a much quieter voice he adds something that he thinks could also be possible. "Maybe some of those that go do not support the idea of sleep...maybe some what him to be allowed a chance to make ammends for his misdeeds." He holds onto that last sliver of hope as he lays back on the grass.

The next day he decides to stay away from the meeting as well. He cannot bring himself to do more than spend the better part of the morning in prayer to Mother and Father. His song this morning is more mournfull than in the past...due in part to the conflict he feels.

Airin and Erwen
Thursday March 2nd, 2006 8:15:30 AM

The time upon the parapets with Kendry has been very comforting for Airin. She and Kendry apparently share the same feelings about the Gods from out time. Perhaps one day they will find those answers they are looking for... and who knows what will happen then...
After that she remains in his arms without saying a word. Cherishing the moment but she also feels an inner struggle as she herself is partly a druid...

The next morning she prepares to join Kendry in his meeting with Alemi but notices the druids Peerimus and Gilan are unwilling to join the audience with Alemi.
"You go ahead Kendry, I need to talk to them - I will join you a bit later."

Airin walks over to Peerimus and Gilan and first meditates with them. She senses a dark vibration of negative thoughts surrounding them. Why then are they here? Where do our Gods come from?

She adresses Peerimus and Gilan in druidic.

"Peerimus... Gilan... why do you guys look so sad? Have we not come to the very origin of nature itself? Are we wrong to persue on this quest? I have witnessed the power of the jewell our Queen talked about. The one we found on that tapestry...
We did not see the Father - and the one who claims to be the father is no longer what he used to be. Queen Maab did not see that... maybe your eyes a closed to see this too?
I am but half a druid... not a pureblood like you guys are. Maybe this does cloud my own judgement. Therefore I whish you will speak to me..."

Podo Danderfluff
Thursday March 2nd, 2006 9:33:25 AM

Teasing Kendry

"Kendry, you know someone has to be your shadow to counter most of your statement of reason!" teases Podo to Kendry in return.

"If it wasn't for me, this group would have such a dry monologue for I had spice to any conversation" elbows Kendry as he grins.

Fog of War

As if emerging from a Fog of War, Podo looks around for what seems like the first time. "Oh! Where are we?"

Peerimus and Shaylin
Thursday March 2nd, 2006 4:22:14 PM

Peerimus nods to Airin as she approaches. He stands upon the eastern wall looking into the rising sun and his gaze remains there as she speaks. His left hand grips his ahsen staff, lean muscles tight as she continues. His right, seems at ease, stroking the top of Shaylin's furred head. The leopard is quite relxed and as Airin talks, she looks over at her.

A long moment of silence fills the morning air behind Airin's last words. Perhaps a full minute passes before Peerimus turns his head and looks down at Airin beside him. His face is hard and his angular jaw and high cheek bones are set even more by the paint and morning sun. "Closed? If only they were."

The lean muscular human drops to his haunches and his look softens. "Were they, we would not be speaking now Daughter. My world would still be righted and I would be clad with both armor and staff." Peerimus looks at Airin for another moment and then speaks, "Tell me. Who are the two most important souls in your life? What then would you do if I told you Kendry ordered the death of an innocent or cause undo pain to others and delighted in it? How quick would you take arms and the fight to his doorstep? How quick to even believe me?" Peerimus shakes his head, "It matters not. But know that Ebyron is the Father the creator of Mother Wold and all her gifts. No we have not come to the beginning, but well into the story."

"As to the quest, Gargul crafted the FeyStone with stolen rings of Ascension, tools to godhood. Tools Alemi now has and that we know he suceeds with. Taking Domi with him likely. Gargul is seeking his own path and his lies through the corruption of souls. Maab says Ebyron knows and does not care. The weaver of the Tapestry would have us believe Ebyron relishes in corruption of his creation. Which is the truth? What if neither are? Maab maybe lashing out, hurt by Ebyrons other interests. Ebyron may not stop Gargul because he can not. A creator is not all powerful, he merely creates"

"But that matters little as well as to our quest. We are moving directly against Gargul to remove the FeyStone from his possession. While not a god he is surely as powerful as Alemi and Domi have demonstrated. Alemi altered the very fabric of time when we arrived at Oshire House. Allowing us to rest and rework our spells for the battle that was to come. He could have slaughtered the whole of the opposing force."

"Gargul will likely show less retraint of power when we attack his very home. Some of us will likely die and then be put before Gargul the god. A god that will have the knowledge and memory of that soul trying to steal what was rightfully his by the very act of creation. I do not think a pleasant after life awaits any who find them self there."

"You ask what concerns me and you now have the most of it Airin, Daughter of Mother Wold. I am concerned to discover the truth and I am concerned for the souls of those I have come to protect."

Peerimus stands with the last and moves away from Airin down the wall. Shaylin watches him go, looks back to Airin and then follows the druid.

Bralin
Thursday March 2nd, 2006 9:12:42 PM

The dwarf wordlessly follows the company.
They fret endlessly, he thinks to himself in wonderment.

Bralin is unconcerned. What they attempt to do now is already accomplished (or failed) in their own time. Had Gargul, or any other god, held antipathy toward him over the coming events, the warrior/cleric would not have survived his own birth.

Gilan and Ciaran
Thursday March 2nd, 2006 9:54:06 PM

Gilan listens to Peerimus as he explains it to Airin...better than he could at least. He leans upon the stone battlements as tears come to his eyes unbidden. "That is the big problem...all that I believe in is turning upside down...for druids it is our faith in Father and Mother that supplies the powers we have." He looks to Peerimus and than Airin in turn. "My beliefs are at the head of all of this...we have a saying back on the plains...put simply, "The Land My Life"." Tears touch the battlement as he feels things being stripped from him a layer at a time. "I have served the land on the Plains for most of my life...I have put my very life on the line to protect all life." He shakes his head with a sudden dawning of understanding.

As he lets a hand drop to the head of Ciaran he cannot help but stroke the powerful neck muscles as well, taking comfort from that solidness. "We know that we will succeed in our mission here and in the process Gargul will end up turning over a new leaf...no, he will not judge us harshly if we die here and now...but my major concern is what led Father to this." His other hand waves out at the ground, though clean now had been covered with monster corpses some time earlier. "What would you do sister if you were wrongly accused of a crime and then not killed but left to suffer in sleep...betrayed by those that you had a hand in creating...possibly those that you could not save due to something that Gargul had to hang over you." He straightens with his hands clenched in fists as he searches his own heart and knows that he would be filled with anger. "I would strike out that is for sure and nature would follow as the waves of energy rolled from me...the chaos would be nothing to me as I vented my anger." He looks again to Airin and shakes his head as he reaches up to wipe away tears. "Nature would feed of my emotions...how could it not as I would be so close to it...I would be Father...a spurned Father." With a sad little smile he moves to follow the direction that Peerimus is going though he will not follow him but turn to go to the gate. Ciaran stands and pads along with his brother, walking stiff legged and feeling the anger/pain/indecision of his brother.

Tishe' and Snout  d20+4=24
Thursday March 2nd, 2006 10:52:47 PM

Meditating with her spellbook and Snout in the grass and greeting the morning sun, Tishe's brown hair is cast back and her plain-looking face full of warmth. Yet words echo down to her from the battlements. (Listen: nat 20). All this talk about Ebyron the Father of the Wold, and Gargul, and what people may or may not think in times long to come. It makes her head hurt.

Opening her eyes, she spies the silent dwarf stalking the battlements. "The man of stone has already made up his mind", she notes to Snout. "We do, and that is enough for him."

She ponders that and her relationship to the Wold. It had only been recently that Tishe's druid side even knew there WAS a Father. She had ever contemplated the Mother. And so she shall continue to do so, she decides. Firmly.

"Be he Father of creation or of only some," she continues explaining to Snout, "be he with Gargul or away, it is certain that Gargulus and Ebyron are bullies and against what is pure and good. We'll get the Stone and deliver it to Maab."

Snout only grins and follows his human. Protect what is yours, ignore what is not, thinks the small croc brian, and be.

Airin and Erwen
Friday March 3rd, 2006 9:45:18 AM

Quietly Airin listens to both Peerimus and Gilan. As they speak tears roll down her cheek as well. They clearly know so much more about nature then anyone she has ever met.
Maybe they are right... maybe it is foolish to pursue on this quest... the way Peerimus and Gilan speak of it it's a betrayel of all she has ever loved. Did she not claim in the Mirror that she was a Lover? A creature who loves nature... yet she's willing to betray the Father as Gilan and Peerimus call Ebryon.

Silently she watches as the druids turn their backs on her. Only a simple thank you can cross her lips. Then she turns around and looks over the parapets. "What if they are right?" Airin asks Erwen, but the eagle only looks into Airin's watery eyes.

After a few moments Airin goes down and marches to meet Alemi. She enters the room and walks up to face Alemi ignoring her friends that stand there as well and speaks directly to Alemi. Her eyes fixed on his.

"Why are we here? Why are we about to betray the maker and going from our present why will you or us or anyone else put the Father to sleep? We are here because he returned to our time more angry than ever... because he was betrayed in THIS age by those HE created! Because those he thought were loyal to him put him to sleep..."

Airin feels the anger and sadness that she saw in Peerimus and Gilan and swallows the lump in her throat.

"Father was betrayed by Gargul. He was fooled into making the Feystone and handing it to Gargul. Should we not try to attone Ebryon in this age, avoiding trouble in our present? "

Airin then stops and breaths rapidly. Alemi is a God in their own present, but he's not in this age. He's a common man. Powerfull, but a plain human.

Where do our Gods come from and why did they become the Gods they are? Why was Ebryon put to sleep if Gargul was the one to abuse the Feystone?

Kendry
Wednesday March 8th, 2006 4:24:18 AM

As the discussions with Alemi draw to a close, Airin comes in to the counsel chambers, brimming with questions and observations and the evidence of recent tears in her eyes. About to rise and offer her comfort, he decides to remain still and allow her to pour out her passionate queries.

He notes that she ascribes the creation of the fey stone to Eberyon, whereas Maab says that Gargul himself created it through the agency of the Rings of Ascension - which Alemi now possesses himself - and his story matches with Maab's. He does not yet disclose this, but rather waits to see how Alemi answers. The thought flits through his mind that Eberyon - at least in Kendry's native time - is now his cousin... And he thinks again of the story that Eberyon spun about the creation, and diminution, of the halfling race.

Surely, in his acquiesence to Gargul's twisting of faeish souls by incarnating them into foul monsters, Eberyon has something to answer for. But is he fully aware of what Gargul does? The tapestry would so indicate. Is it a fair representation? And what laws are there concerning redemption in this age, or any age, that a Maker should be in need of atonement, or even qualify for such? Pah! Too many unanswered questions.

"Has Gargul guards or wards or strong allies we might need to be aware of before we darken his dwelling?" Best deal with practicalities.

He notes that he needs to find out from Airin herself just what it is that pushed her to her present action. What have their companions been telling her?

ADM Adam
Thursday March 9th, 2006 3:06:26 PM

OOC: Trust me to get Alemi Himself on my first ever DM post! On my lack of posting: sorry for the delay folks. I severely misjudged the amount of reading from September to date. I'm happy to announce I made it - read every post - and had fun too (excellent characterisation!).

Inside:

Kendry and Podo seem to be the only members of the group who meet with Alemi at the specified time. OOC: please let me know if this is not the case.

When Kendry mentions he is now willing to share all of his findings with Alemi, the would-be-deity stiffens ever so slightly. In a steady voice he responds with a warning similar to the one he gave at their initial meeting. "While I appreciate any information you choose to share regarding the device, I again remind you friend: you must keep your knowledge of the future to yourself and to those of your own time."

Kendry asks Podo if he has any further questions but, before Podo can reply, an emotional Airin enters the room with a barrage of her own - blurting out a few choice bits of information in the process.

"Please. Cease!" Winces the now standing Alemi. However, much of what she intended to say, she has already said (in fact, all of it). Alemi composes himself and, for a moment, he considers her words. Sighing quietly, he gestures she sit. "Airin, you have many questions. And, I am sorry to say I do not entirely follow your reasoning for some of them. Also, others seem to be answers to which I may yet pose questions." He pauses. "I do not mean to speak in riddles, but these are puzzling times. As to why you are here, I can honestly say I do not know. However, I am grateful for your assistance. We all are." He again pauses, seemingly in thought. "Unless you have any other questions, I think I must meditate on this further. Perhaps we can continue this discussion upon your return from Gargul's encampment?"

At Kendry's question regarding guards and suchlike, Alemi responds: "There may be scouting parties roaming the perimeter, but you will have an advantage if you travel during daylight, as evil is usually most active by night."

Before Elemi sees them to the door, he adds: "If you discover how Gargul is infusing souls into monsters please let me know. That could change the momentum of the war and is something we search for anyway, so hopefully it won't change the future in an undesirable way." With that said, he wishes them well.

OOC: Airin, is Erwen with you, or making lazy circles outside?

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

Outside:

Bralin paces the battlements lost in his own thoughts. From where he stands he can see Tishe and Snout enjoying some sun, and Peerimus and Gilan making their way towards the front gate with their animal companions in tow.

Elsewhere, Nezamil also finds himself lost in thought. He passes many injured students, some of which he recognises. Eventually he makes his way to the ramparts, and is presented with the same view as Bralin.

Peerimus and Gilan reach the front gate and idly wonder where the rest of the party is. While they wait, Shaylin and Ciaran investigate the plethora of lingering scents in the near vicinity.

OOC: I'll be posting regularly until Kelly returns now - and without all of these 'out of character' notes too. Sorry.

Kendry, lightly confused
Thursday March 9th, 2006 6:32:09 PM

"Um yes, Lord Alemi," Kendry replies. "Thank you for your time and counsel. If we learn what you have asked, I will do my utmost to let you know," he promises.

"Time to go," he says to Podo and Airin. "Miles to go."

He accompanies his cousin and his amour out of the room, gathers his things, and joins those waiting to leave.

"I think it's that way, friends." Kendry begins to walk briskly toward Gargul's home.

Gilan and Ciaran
Thursday March 9th, 2006 8:41:49 PM

Gilan has found himself a little more withdrawn lately as he has more things to think about. Oh yes...there are many things to consider that he did not really want to think about. He was learning too many things about the past that had effected the future...his future...than he ever would have wanted. "This bites grass."

Ciaran plays around in the grass and plants around. He is not searching for anything but just haveing a little fun now that he can.

Tishe' and Snout
Friday March 10th, 2006 2:20:59 AM

Seeing her companions moving towards the front gate, the brown-haired mystic feels it is time to go. "Let's weave, Snout", she tells the croc, and the two move to the gate.

She bows a greeting to Peerimus and Gilan and waits for the others to arrive. "Though great is the danger, this seems a simple pick. We get shuttlecocked, go Walker on Gargul, and pick this FeyStone, and out we go."

"Now, does anyone else want to discuss a plan for doing it?" she waits with curiosity painted on her face.

And Snout just smiles.

Airin and Erwen  d20+16=26

Airin realises she may have said too much to Alemi, but if mistakes can be avoided and change the outcome of our present, it could be worth taking the risk. Of course changing the course of history could mean neither of them would ever been born...

On her exit from the Oshir House Airin is very silent. He mind raging with thoughts of all kind.

Erwen joins Airin as she leaves the House and once they are on the road again, Erwen flies up to the skies, flying in circles above the group.

After some time she rides along side with Peerimus and Gilan: "Alemi did not give me the answers I wanted as maybe he doesn't know them either. I wanted to know why we are here... why are you guys here? ..." But without waiting for an answer Airin continues: "Oh well, let's wait and see how this unfolds. Maybe I'm just too young to understand."

and she leaves from their sides again to ride with her Halfling friends. She nods to them to show she's allright.

Peerimus and Shaylin
Friday March 10th, 2006 8:50:01 AM

The druid stands stoically at the front gate, his face as if etched in stone. His mind was still working on several issues the most forefront of which was getting the Feystone. Tishe's question causes him to blink several as if he just noticed everyone else was there. He responds with a clipped nod and a small smile. "I really have no idea what you just said daughter, but then that is not new." His smile broadens. "Though I know the thought. Yes simple enough."

"As to a plan, I would say move with speed and stealth. But I do not think this group capable of such as a whole." The group gathers and the journey begins. "We should send out a scout. The farther ahead and faster the better. Does anyone have a message spell?"

Airin moves up and Peerimus slows his greater strides to match her pace. He says nothing to the rhetorical statements, but her last catches him slightly. Why are we here? Peerimus begins to mull it over. It all began trying to discover the meaning of the tapestry and what I felt was a move against the Wold by the gods. Now this Feystone, a creation of Gargul. Possible it is the largest threat to Father and Mother ever devised. Could it be used as a weapon against them? Should Maab have it? Should anyone for that matter?

The druid moves to walk with Gilan, "Brother, any thoughts on what to do with the stone? I am unsure if Maab or anyone is the right choice. What are you thoughts on destroying it?"

Kendry  d20+10=25
Saturday March 11th, 2006 12:00:46 AM

"Yep. I've got a message spell," Kendry says in answer to Peerimus' question." We'll probably want to wait until we're closer to his place before we use it. It's what, another couple of hours till we get there? Say a half hour out - or even when we get within sight of it, then I'll cast the spell. It'll last about an hour and a half. And it's good for a distance of 190 feet away from me. And I can include all of us - people, at least, in the spell."

As Peerimus moves forward to talk with Gilan, Kendry strains to hear [Listen: 25]. Hearing the gist of his question, he hustles ahead to join in the conversation.

"Yeah, Gilan. What do you think we should do with the stone? If we get it, that is." He's not shy about joining in. They're a united group, right? "Don't know if you noticed, but I didn't promise Maab to take the fey stone to her. We need to think this through, carefully."

For those outside, the morning sun has been quite pleasant, and has made for a good opportunity to relax and reflect on what has transpired in the last few days.

In particularly good spirits is Snout, who is positively radiating with enthusiasm. Tishe notes with some satisfaction that his tough hide is still a vibrant hue of green.

Soon a light wind picks up, and Bralin, Nezamil, and Tishe decide to make their seperate ways to the front gates with Peerimus and Gilan. Kendry, Airin, and Podo join them a few moments later.

On the main road heading South from Oshirr House the striking group discusses their immediate travel plans. Most of them recall Maab mentioning a three-hour journey from the road that leads to Oshirr House to Gargul's encampment. However, the detour to Oshirr House for the night took them a few hours out of their way, and they now estimate the journey to be around half-a-day in total. Peerimus raises the idea of sending a scout on ahead, and Kendry offers his services as a spellcaster, with his Message spell. Soon, however, discussion gravitates to the Feystone, and what the group should do with it should they manage to obtain it.

Stopping short a few minutes down the road, Bralin, Peerimus, and Podo note dark clouds forming on the horizon to the South and to the right of Ice Mountain. High above, Erwen also notes the grim looking weather with a high pitched shriek.

OOC: Any last minute actions at Oshirr House, travelling order, finalised travel plans, and anything else you'd like me to note, if you please.

Tishe' and Snout
Monday March 13th, 2006 4:26:13 AM

The cavorting of a much more energetic Snout has Tishe' wondering anew at the special properties of the water from Ma'ab's home. "Keep that water safe, Kendry, for it may help us in the near future." she tells the halfling whist pointing at the crocodile.

Tishe' is certainly NOT a fighter or scout, and is perfectly willing for others to make the plans, as long as there are plans that are made.

"Perhaps we need a battle leader to direct the infiltration?", she asks. "Kendry perhaps. While not a warrior, he has a good head on his shoulders."

"And I also think that the scouts should look for a place where we can hole up before getting to Gargulus'. Preparation spells before going in and all that."

"I also have Message, and we can hold one in reserve for if the pick lasts a long time. Most of my spells are enhancements for us like Haste, Cat's Grace, or my flying spell, or conjurations for battle."

Snout is just happy and easily keeps up with his human.

Monday March 13th, 2006 11:05:25 AM

"I'm willing to move ahead of the group. Half a druid half rogue remember," and she smiles at the group.

"Maybe my short legs can speed me ahead of you all, or else, I will fly out there together with Erwen. I won't be able to speak in bird form, but once I get back to earth I will take contact with you again."

Airin waits to see if there are others who would volonteer to move ahead of the group. If no one takes it, she will accept Kendry's message spell. The dark weather will offer us concealment, though it will also help our opponents.

Can any of our druid friends cast a speak with animals spell? In that case I don't need to change back to human. Then we can speak like eagles do! This allows me to fly back and forth untill I really need to take cover.

If the group accepts Airin's offer, she waits for Kendry to cast the message spell (she gives him a good kiss and asks him to be careful), shapeshifts into an eagle and then she flies together with Erwen (with whoom she will be able to communicate freely now - and hopefully someone knows how to cast a Speak with animals spell) to the maximum of the spell range. (They can now both fly 80ft at normal speed.)

Should the weather get worse adn thus making it dangerous to fly, Airin and Erwen will fly lower seeking a place to sit in a tree before they get down to the ground.

Peerimus looks down at Kendry as he breaks in and does manage a small smile, "I noticed Kendry. What came of you meeting with Alemi?" his tone is even and calm. "What do you think of destroying it?"

As the group travels, Peerimus tells Airin that Yes indeed he has the spell speak with animals. Peerimus also agrees that until they are much closer there is no need of too advanced a scout but thought now before the group was under duress a good time to begin such conversations.

Peerimus looks at the sky with some concern [Survival 36 weather] "If Gargul's guard prefer darkened skies, they will have them long before we arrive." Before Airin leaves however, the human druid cautions her. "Many survived the Oshirr assault and word has surely spread about the eagle upon the battlefield. Any monster you see will likely not think you or Erwen a mere raptor on flight. They will try and kill you."

Bralin
Monday March 13th, 2006 4:26:32 PM

As is his custom, Bralin drops to the rear of the group, and maintains a vigilant watch over their backtrail.

The dwarf notes the clouds and nods wordlessly in agreement with Peerimus's assessment. As the druid doesn't press the issue, and as the halflings have displayed past difficulties in heeding the obvious, Bralin is compelled to complete the observation.

"We must seek shelter and continue with the morn."

Kendry
Monday March 13th, 2006 10:30:07 PM

In answer to Peerimus' questions, Kendry answers, "Well, I jotted down some notes." He extracts some from a scroll tube, then reads. "Alemi said:
"'I have found that Gargul is adding souls to monsters. I am afraid that in time we will not be able to repel them, and the monsters will extinguish us and our kind.'
"Then, Airin came in with lots of questions - I guess after she talked with you, Peerimus. She seemed very upset - tears in her eyes, even, and she asked lots of questions. She spoke so fast, I didn't get down every word, but, here is the gist of it.
"'Why are we here? Why are we about to betray the Maker and going from our present? Why will you or us or anyone else put the Father to sleep? We are here because he returned to our time more angry than ever... because he was betrayed in THIS age by those HE created! Because those he thought were loyal to him put him to sleep...

Father was betrayed by Gargul.'
"Uh, then she said something about the Feystone and Gargul. And she asked about, something like, I think, seeking atonement for Eberyon in this age, so as to avoid troubles in our present. Their future.

"Well, Alemi still seemed reluctant to learn of us anything that is likely to occur in his future. Airin's questions were - well, he seemed quite reluctant to take in the implications of her words, lest reported future events color decisions he takes at this time. He did say that he does not have answers to all her - all our - questions. Oh, and I remember he said, 'Perhaps we can continue this discussion upon your return from Gargul's encampment?'

"Why didn't you come to the meeting? Gilan, it would have been good to have you there, too. For all your talk back in the Temple of Light, Peerimus, of wanting to make up your own mind on things, it seems your mind may be made up already, and you don't want to be confused with sources of input that may disagree with how you wish to conclude things. I speak honestly, and maybe my words will anger you - but, based on Airin's comportment following her conversation with you, I wonder just what it was you told her? I'm guessing you are reluctant to take any action - now or in the future - to check Eberyon's behavior in our native time. If I'm wrong, then tell me. If I'm right, then, well, I'd appreciate it if you were to tell me.

"Look, I respect you, and your power, and knowledge. And we come to this venture with different backgrounds and relationships. But if there are areas of difference concerning what paths we should take, then, let us discuss them, as companions, and not conceal them as opponents. Perhaps, in time, we could be friends," he offers tentatively - because for the moment, he senses Peerimus' attitude toward him, and his halfling friends, is as a superior to a lesser - as a sophisticate to a rube. Well, maybe I am a rube in some ways, he thinks to himself.

Kendry answers Peerimus' second question, "I'm not sure whether or not we should destroy the Fey Stone. Whoever wove the tapestry communicated that Gargul is using it with Eberyon's knowledge and, at least tacit, blessing. The author also wrote that fey souls are transferred via the stone to monsters. I'm puzzled as to why Eberyon would not care about this warping of those whom he has created.

"Also, it's worthwhile noting that the tapestry weaver wrote on the edges of his work the following:
Eberyon fashioned creatures noble, and created creatures fey. Eberyon opposed Alemi and to overcome him sought. So unto Gargulus gave he the fey stone. And through the stone granted he to Gargulus fey souls, and then did Gargulus pass fey souls into the bodies of beastly monsters. And then came to pass a great war.
"Now, Maab tells us that Gargul fashioned the Fey Stone, and Alemi's words seem to confirm this.

"If such be the case, then the tapestry artist was not fully apprised of the facts. For the moment, the only thing I can conclude is that the provenance of the Fey Stone is in question. I'll tell you one thing - I'd love to meet whoever wove that tapestry. It was through its power that we were returned to this time! Near as I can tell.

"Peerimus - I am not opposed to destroying the Fey Stone - if it is within our power to do so. But I'm not saying I support its destruction, either. The short-term or eventual disposition of the stone will tax our wisdom, I've no doubt. And, to whom does one pray for such?"

Then, as an afterthought, he adds, "Oh, Alemi told me, too, that there may be scouting parties roaming the perimeter, but we will have an advantage if we travel during the daytime, as evil is usually most active at night. And he also asked, if we discover how Gargul is infusing souls into monsters, to let him know. He said, um," and Kendry clears his throat, trying to echo the timbre and intonation of Alemi's voice, "'That could change the momentum of the war and is something we search for anyway, so hopefully it won't change the future in an undesirable way.'" Kendry resumes in his own voice. "Then he wished us well."

On travel time and planning

"Who thinks it's going to take half a day? Nonsense, if this map is right. Shelter? We're used to rain in Crescent Valley. We started out about eight in the morning, and the map we have shows that the distance between Oshirr House and Gargul's place is equidistant to that between Maab's and Gargul's.

"From Maab's to where the road forks between Oshirr and Gargul's is exactly the same distance as from Oshirr to where the road forks between Maab's and Gargul's.

"Three hours, still, or a wee bit more if the way gets muddy, perhaps. Now, on the map there are trees near his place, and it says here 'Monster Sanctuary' - that the pathway goes through. That ought to be interesting.

"What if, as we drew near the Monster Sanctuary, you, Airin, sent Erwen to fly above the trees? Now, what Peerimus said is well worth considering. Some will recognize your noble bird as our ally. So, there is a risk in that plan.

"And I do have some concern about sending you out well in advance of us. On the whole, your plan has real merit. But how about if we make such a decision as we get closer?"

He rubs his hands together. "I'm glad I have such a brave lass for my best friend." He gives Podo a wink, fully expecting Airin to slug him in the arm or something for referring to her only (only?) as his 'best friend.'

After she commits any mock violence she wishes to against him, he'll laugh and accept her punishment. If she hits him real hard he'll wince appropriately.

Laying out further resources for planning purposes, he says, "At some point, I may be able to cast clairvoyance to examine some spot we deem worth scrying upon. Or clairvoyance to listen. But it takes ten minutes of focus to cast either. I have a scroll of greater invisibility. Also scrolls of alarm, diminish plants, hold portal, identify, knock, mending, protection from chaos, and touch of idiocy." He waggles his eyebrows at the mention of the last scroll. "Just what someone needs to go on a trip like this!"

"Thanks, Podo," Kendry answers. "Oh - you know, if the coming storm cooperates as we approach - it might help to mask the sounds we make, and any scent we may put out, aiding us in the matter of stealth. Then again, we might just get wet."

Airin - Illegal second
Tuesday March 14th, 2006 4:04:13 AM

Airin listens to everyones remarks, and as they seem to prefer to wait a bit longer before sending out a scout, Airin waits to do anything.

The offer still stands, and whenever she needs to, she will do as she offered.

Peerimus and Shaylin
Tuesday March 14th, 2006 1:49:28 PM

'If I'm wrong, then tell me. The druid cuts Kendry off, his brow furrows and a dangerous light seems to glint deep in his eyes, "You are wrong." Peerimus looks up again briefly and then back to Kendry. The look before replaced with his normal visage. "Kendry, My mind is far from decided in the greater consequence of this. Airin asked what was troubling me and I told her. I asked if she would kill you on word of others that you seemed to not care of another's suffering. And to you I say the same, would you send Airin to eternal sleep if I told you she delighted in pulling the legs off of frogs? What if I said the same of Alemi? As a daughter of the Wold she was entitled upon the asking and by right of companion so are you. I have decided very little. What I have decided on is that Gargul can not be allowed to keep the Feystone."

At Kendry's mention of Alemi and the meeting his reply is a little cold. "I did not meet with Alemi because I could not at that time." With a small almost resigned sigh Peerimus adds, "Friendship is not the point and while you are acknowledging our differing backgrounds your empathy to such does not." To the insightful bard it is very apparent Peerimus is keeping his emotions close to him and certainly not sharing all he is thinking or feeling.

"But as I said, in the end it does not matter. Gargul can not keep the Feystone and I will see him relieved of it. To this point, that is my quest."

Peerimus continues to listen, "I am not advocating its destruction yet either, even if, as you so rightly mention, we can. Until I know who created the tapestry, I am giving it little weight. Your concerns and those of the others of Culverwood and what you have said have far more impact than it does on my views and what I may feel necessary to do." Not having much else to say apparently, Peerimus stops talking.

Tuesday March 14th, 2006 3:47:36 PM

The dwarf shakes his head in resignation. Not three breaths before, the halfling just pointed out the advantage of travelling by day, and then dismisses the storm because it will make them muddy?

"Tis not the WATER," he growls, irritated at the need for such explanations. "The storm brings DARKNESS. The forces of Gargul have the advantage. Seek shelter. Resume 'pon the light of the morn."

Gilan and Ciaran
Tuesday March 14th, 2006 8:17:21 PM

Gilan moves over to walk by Peerimus and listens to his question. He ponders it for a few minutes as he looks at it from several points. "Though Mother is just...I feel that it might not be wise to give it to her." He shakes his head as this is making him a little nervous. "I am not sure who should hold it after we get it from Gargulus." His eyes take on a slightly more keen look as he ansers the second part. "As to destroying it...I am not sure how but there are few that I trust to hold it...fewer still that would not seek it out if we hid it." With a shake of his head he makes what some may call a snap decision. "I would destroy it if I could...unless it is not a choice." As Kendry pulls up beside them he laughs lightly. So the little one is starting to think a little bit of his companions...maybe question there loyalty or ability to think.

As the move along and he lets Peerimus talk he nods his head several times. "We only give our feelings on what has happened and as Peerimus says...she asked and it would not be right to withhold thoughts to a sister...we do not ask that she follow them blindly...we are all reasoning creatures and more than able to make out own choices." As the talks go on he snorts in disgust with the whole idea. Some hold too much faith in things and though he would hate to do it he would not give something this dangerous to Mother. "Lets worry about getting this stone...then we can think of dealing with it...one problem at a time."

Recap...

While deferring to Kendry and the others for a plan, Tishe does suggests they seek shelter a suitable distance from Gargul's encampment - for the purpose of casting preparatory spells. She also mentions she too can cast the spell Message. Snout simply grins.

Airin volunteers to fly ahead with Erwen as scout, but not without warning from Kendry. Still, the wind is light, and she is confident it will not bother her if it remains so. She suggests one of the druids cast Speak with Animals upon themselves, so that she too may communicate via the Message spell. Circling above, Erwen wonders why the group has stopped, when they obviously should be heading back to the temporary nest.

Kendry replies to Peerimus' query with as many facts as he can muster. He recounts much of the knowledge and advice Alemi imparted him. And, also recounts Alemi's response (or lack thereof) to Airin's questions. Soon Kendry finds himself with questions of his own, such as why Peerimus and Gilan did not attend the meeting themselves - sparking a debate, and only just managing to contain some very raw emotions.

Taking his cue, Podo discreetly pats Kendry on the back and quickly finds something else to catch his attention - not too far away though.

Finally the group seems resolved to address the issue of the Feystone when they actually have it, and they turn their attention to its acquisition. According to his map, Kendry re-estimates the length of their journey to be closer to three hours than a half-day. He also suggests they travel to the edge of the forested area marked "Monster Sanctuary" before sending scouts on ahead. Finally, he offers to cast Clairvoyance at some stage.

Peerimus eyes the darkening clouds on the horizon, watching them slowly roll over one another. Inhaling deeply, he let's years of experience under the great canopy guide him. Concentrating, he first checks the direction of the wind (North-West), gauges the drop in temperature, and tastes for moisture in the air. All the while watching the sky for seemingly hidden signs. After a moment, he understands the cooler weather is settling in for the next two to three days, and will probably rain lightly for most of that time. He also recognises the rain will be upon them within the hour. For the moment, Shaylin is content to eye the circling bird and the large reptile, having made a truce of sorts with the wolf.

Gilan keeps step with Peerimus for most of the discussion. When they stop he is the one to punctuate the decision to carry on with their journey, and worry about the complexities of future events later. Twice Ciaran nudges his hand during this uncomfortable debate. In support, or impatience, Gilan cannot readily tell - perhaps both, he decides.

In the background, Nezamil quietly thinks to himself.

Meanwhile, Bralin is adamant about seeking shelter, and hoping the weather passes. In fact, if the dwarf's comrades were to give him their attention for just a moment they would surely note his cheeks turning a purplish hue in frustration.

Moving forward...

Just under an hour later the first raindrops splatter in the dirt - heavy drops, and icy to touch. Ten-minutes later the group finds themselves in a shower, and trudging through a thin layer of mud. Another hour-and-a-half later they find themselves drenched (if without wet-weather clothing) and facing a turn in the road heading East and to the South (roughly the centre of the map).

Here the terrain changes, becoming somewhat rockier. However, the road has been decently cut and, asides from the slight mud, movement is not hampered.

Nearly an hour later the group arrives at a fork in the road. To their left is "Ice Mountain". To their right is "Monster Sanctuary", which they now see is a large, yet thinly forested area. A low fog hangs just below the tips of a needle-like grass that is prominent throughout the forest. Closer inspection reveals it is about half-a-foot deep, and dissolves at the forest-edge.

Please make Spot rolls (-4 rain).

[OOC: Ouch! Hope your daughter's noggin heals up, and that the injury was not too bad. Was there a concussion? -Kim]

Kendry's adventuring gear does its job in shedding the rain. Living in the verdant Crescent Valley, he and his halfling friends are not unacquainted with steady precipitation - nor of slogging along rain-soaked ground when necessary.

He takes in the words of his companions on this quest. He is pleased that Peerimus confirmed that Kendry was wrong in his estimation of the druid's position, and does not at all mind his quiet vehemence. "Perhaps - and I don't mean to place words in your mouth - perhaps you are saying we ought to grant Eberyon the benefit of the doubt while weighing our decisions. Do you suppose we should visit the Fae King, so that we can understand better his position on things in this time?" he asks.

To Gilan's last words, he answers, "My grandmother used to tell me not to borrow trouble from another day." He pauses, then, with a bemused smile, he says, "I'm not sure that I always succeed in taking grandmama's advice."

To Tishe's advice, Kendry pats the pocket of his pants and answers, "Oh, indeed I intend to keep the water safe until needed." When she suggests that Kendry figure out the battle plan, he says, "Well, I'm willing to put my two coppers in, at least. I think Peerimus and Airin are right, in that we need more information in order to formulate a plan. Perhaps," he says optimistically, "we'll figure a way to recover the stone without having to resort to battle." Then, thinking of the way ahead, he adds, "Though we may encounter some folks on the way to Gargul's."

He spends some time along the way with Airin, and he suggests they walk with Tishe' for a while, just asking her about her own life, family (halflings love to hear about genealogies and relations and such), and her normal adventuring companions.

"Bralin, if the storm is dense enough to bring the darkness of night in the midst of day, then I concur with your counsel. But if it's just the grayness of most storms, then I would hope that we would press on. Every night that passes without intervention, Gargul will make more of his monsters, I fear." He hopes this reply does not anger the stout and stalwart dwarf.

As they arrive at the forest, Kendry notes something out of the corner of his eye (Spot: 18 (22-4)). He holds up his hand in a signal to halt, and points toward the scattered weapons. He looks upward in the trees to see if he can see anyone, and listens as well (but not very well - Listen: 9).

Tishe' and Snout  d20+7=26
Wednesday March 15th, 2006 1:55:31 PM

Thinking that her voice is going to help Bralin get his (very few) words across, Tishe' is slightly non-plussed that they continue to march. Yet as Kendry said, if it not be too dark, speed may count for more than the waiting. "So too is the possibility that the storm is intended by Gargulus to hamper us."

Thoughts turn to action, and the mystic weaves her hand to Detect Magic in the clouds. (Concentrate for a minute (10 rounds) just to make sure)

And then they trudge on. Snout has no problems in the rain (it's water after all), but Tishe' is from the parched Sargrass, and this is VERY unusual. It helps that she has the halfling companions about to keep her mind off the unnatural sky-water. She soon tells them of the Sargrass Plains, where there are no trees, no open sources of water, and in fact where you can die by spilling water on the ground. "The bugs and animals will home in on water like a child to a sweet."

At the crossroads, Wart bumps Tishe' from his place at her satchel; the familiar's sharp senses have Spoted something (Spot: 22 with rain) "And there are tracks leading from the weapons into the forest.", she points out to her compaions.

Peerimus and Shaylin  d20+13=15
Wednesday March 15th, 2006 2:03:51 PM

Peerimus looks back to Kendry, "You must forgive me some for this will sound worse than I intend and I have little experience with Halflings. You talk a great deal Kendry." Peerimus fails to answer Kedry's last voiced expression bringing his full attention back to the task at hand. With the rain so close Peerimus advises against Airin flying off and will hold off on the Speak with animals spell

The rain begins to fall, "We are to be wet for several Days. Bralin, we might not be able to wait her out."

Shaylin leans further and further into the druid as the rain begins and eventually several pitiful cries come from her. Peerimus looks down at the big cat "Pitiful, you practice that look don't you. Absolutely pitiful cat." With a touch Peerimus casts Endure Elements and shares the spell with Shaylin. As the rain thickens and the terrain starts to change the druid continues preparations, casting Long Strider and shortly thereafter Myrridans Blackthorn.

Kendry points out the weapons and the druid drops to a crouch with Shaylin, his staff pulling across his lap. "To much rain to make anything out diffinatively. Can anyone see anything?"

Instead, Bralin waits for one of the more sure sighted scouts to investigate.

Airin spot (at +6 due to heavy rain) = NAT 1!
Erwen spot (at +12) = 17

Due to the heavy rain and Peerismus's advice Airin waits to shape change and remains with the group. as she tries to see what's in front of them a thick drop of rain falls right into her eye blocking her vision while she wipes the water from her face...

Her leather armor becomes more and more soaked but once her eyes are free she turns her face upwards allowing the rain to splash on her face. In this foul day Mother nature is ready to swipe away evil from this place... hopefully

Erwen does notice something on the ground and picks in Airin's shoulder. Only then the Halfling lady see there's something hidden in the fog.

"We need to make a place friends. Let's quite bickering and decide later how to act once we are confronted with the decision what to do with the Fey stone. We need to go on. This rain will also conceal our movements...

Any one got a suggestion what way we need to go?"

Thursday March 16th, 2006 11:34:02 AM

Since no one else does so, Kendry cautiously approaches the place where the weapons lie, especially alert to potential traps - such as a tripwire or pit covered with leaves or the like. One step at a time, probing, and also looking about. [Two spot checks, 16, 19.] He may not have noticed the tracks unless Tishe' first had pointed them out.

He tries to see, as he draws close to the weapons, if he can figure out what happened here. Oh - a dead kobold!

Are the tracks made by bare feet, or by shoes, or is there a combination of shoes and bare feet?

Tishe concentrates on the clouds for a full minute, but does not detect any magic - foul, or otherwise.

A closer inspection of the kobold reveals two large and widely spaced puncture wounds as the cause of death. Kendry also notes long flaps of skin that extend from the kobold's wrists all the way down to its waist, running the length of its inner-arm and chest. With its arms extended, he imagines the leathery skin would resemble the wings of a large bat.

Examining the tracks, he, Peerimus, and Airin realise they were made by a group of a dozen or more creatures, with a mixture of medium-sized boots, and smaller bare feet. Of the smaller prints, they note tiny claw indentations at the tip of each of the toes. Apparently the group, or groups, briefly stopped and, judging by the soil that has been kicked up in places, it appears there was a commotion involving the fallen kobold. It is difficult to say for sure with the rain, but Peerimus seems to think the tracks are fresh - possibly even made within the last hour.

Shaylin's ears twitch and her large feline head jerks upwards, peering into the trees. At the same time, a sapling (a small tree) near Kendry shakes violently, emits a high-pitch wail, and disappears - leaving a small goblin in its place. Beady eyes hone in on Kendry, and it weaves it's hands together as it mumbles something under its breath (Kendry, please make a Will saving throw). It then reaches for the morningstar clipped to its makeshift belt.

Suddenly the other saplings surrounding the group don't seem so harmless.

Please make Spot rolls (again, in the rain).

Round 1

Peerimus notes the use of a spell-like ability, similar to Tree Shape.

The materialised goblin (g1) points its stubby, clawed hand at Kendry as it mutters something, but the halfling easily shrugs off the effects of a Deep Slumber spell. Peerimus, Shaylin, and Bralin comes to his aid, and together they make short work of the goblin. Shaylin considers dragging the dismembered carcass up a tree, until she realises Peerimus is wheeling on other foes - her fur suddenly bristling with enthusiasm.

Thinking quickly, Kendry also looses an arrow at one of the hidden kobolds (k3), dropping it from its tree perch.

Casting Mage Armour on herself, Tishe prepares for battle to the comforting hissing sounds emanating from the 12-foot-long reptile at her back.

Airin expertly fires two bolts at one of the orcs (o1). Both of the bolts strike true, but what certainly should have been two fatal shots yields little more than a grunt. With a bolt still embedded in its chest, and another in it's gut, the orc charges on towards Tishe and Snout.

Gilan and Ciaran assume defensive positions and scan the area. Their keen ears sense enemies moving towards them from the South and the East.

Podo shakes himself as he realises the group is under attack. For a moment he feels slightly disoriented, but he soon notices the goblin being cut down, a kobold falling limply out of a tree, and an orc breaking cover with two of Airin's bolts stuck in it's torso. At the advice of the others, he keeps alert.

Nezamil scans the area to the North and the West, but does not detect any foes.

Round 2

Map update: view Round 2.

{ OOC: Apologies for the delay. }

Close by, three saplings suddenly begin to shiver. From each of them a hideous wail rises up, merging in a cacophony of sound. Then, in a blur, they shake violently into the twisted forms of goblins. Nearest Peerimus, one of them (g2) utters a series of words in Goblin and flings its clawed hand out in his direction. Similarly, the goblins nearest Podo and Gilan (g3 and g4) also cast spells.

{ OOC: Peerimus, Podo and Gilan: you do not need to make Will saving throws vs. Deep Slumber (DC13), as I will assume you successfully shrugged off the effects of the spell (so as to maintain continuity with the following posts). }

At the same time, the remaining two kobolds launch themselves from their tree perches. Leathery bat-like wings extend along the insides of their arms and, in a glider-like fashion, they swoop on the group.

Honing in on Bralin, one of them (k2) attempts a flyby attack. It dives to around seven-feet above the ground, and jabs downwards with its spear, but misses wildly (AC4). It then lands a short distance away and reaches for a sling attached to its belt.

Landing at Gilan's feet, the other kobold (k1) lunges widely with its spear, as it yaps something angrily in Draconic (AC7).

Realising her bolts have had little effect, Airin drops into a crouch - taking advantage of the low fog - and hides. Erwen, on the other hand, takes to the sky.

Then bursting from the undergrowth and fog, the group notes four brutish orcs charging towards them. Their greenish skin is mottled with patches of black, and covered in a glistening layer of sweat. Protruding from their heads are fierce looking horns that curl once around their pointed ears and jut forwards. Unlike their noisy counterparts they don't say a word - such is their focus.

Baring down on Tishe, the first orc (o1) leaps and swings with its ugly-looking falchion (AC24/Dam9). The blade slashes across her shoulder and chest, tearing into her flesh. Taking a step back, she stares into its completely bloodshot eyes, and notes a grim look of satisfaction staring back at her.

Having lost track of its initial target (Airin), the second orc (o2) side-steps and slightly lowers its horned head at Tishe.

The third orc (o3), makes a sweeping attack at the wolf, Ciarin, with its falchion (AC12). However, it doesn't connect and seems more intent on reaching Kendry.

Leaping over the fallen kobold, the last orc (o4), a female, charges towards Peerimus (NB: Shaylin gets an AoO first). Raising her falchion high above her horns, she swings downwards with all her might (AC13), but only connects with the dirt at his feet.

Pulling another arrow from his quiver, Kendry swiftly turns on the hideous fey-goblin behind him (g3) and fires. Flying straight and true, the arrow pierces the beasts' eye-socket, breaching the other side. Crumpling to the ground, its body lies still, save for the occasional twitch. Kendry then swivels on the spot and aims his second arrow at the goblin weaving its magicks on Peerimus (g2). He misses - possibly startled by the sudden appearance of a girallon at his side.

{ OOC: Kim/Kendry, I've left you in your current position (N13) - as it seems to be a strong one. However, please advise if you still want to take your 5 ft. step. }

Dropping her crossbow (on square: J16), she takes up her cold-iron bastard sword and intercepts the orc nearest her (o2) before it can attempt a gore attack on Tishe with its horns. Beating it at its own game: she spills its guts with her first attack, and decapitates it with her second. From on high, Erwen considers the intestines a potential snack.

Rattled by the near-miss, the goblin Kendry fired at steps backwards and vanishes into a tree. With his keen hearing, Kendry notices it reappear on the other side of the road, facing Tishe and Podo. Airin also notes the sudden appearance of the goblin.

Bralin ignores the kobold to his left (k2) and arrives at Peerimus' side, providing some welcome support. Together, they smack and slash at the female orc (o4), and are genuinely surprised at her resilience. Eventually, she falls to her knees and Peerimus deals a fatal blow to her face.

{ OOC: I factored Shaylin's attack of AC29/Dam9 as her AoO vs. the orc (o4). }

Reeling from the blow, Tishe puts some distance between herself and the fey-orc. With her shoulder-wound burning, she resolves to wipe the smirk off its ugly face, and launches five magic missiles from her wand. Each one burns deep into the orc's flesh, and it soon falls, writhing in agony. Before it hits the ground, Snout clamps onto its upper body in one swift motion and squeezes tight - easily separating the orc in two.

Smiling wryly, Gilan wild-shapes into a large girallon and watches with amusement as the kobold in front of him (k1) takes a 5 ft. step back in fear. In fact, so entranced by Gilan is the kobold, that it doesn't notice the orc (o3) moving up beside it. Furious that a puny kobold would hinder its path to Kendry, the orc head-butts it - its horns tearing into the little draconic creature's chest. The orc roars and flings the limp body aside with a flick of its head, where it lands at Bralin's feet. Seemingly unfazed by Gilan's new appearance, it continues on towards Kendry.

Podo whispers a few encouraging words to himself as he eyes the advancing enemy. When he hears more wailing to the West and the East, he realises two more goblins have shaken themselves out of their tree-like hiding-places (g5 and g6). The one nearest him, to the West (g5), is suddenly joined by another (g2) who magically steps out of a tree. They both weave their hands together, and point at Tishe and Podo respectively.

{ OOC: Tishe and Podo, please make Will saving-throws vs. Deep Slumber (DC13). }

The fourth goblin (g4) retreats (to square P18), and again tries its spell on Gilan.

{ OOC: Gilan, please make a Will saving-throw vs. Deep Slumber (DC13). }

The remaining kobold twirls its sling for all its worth at Peerimus (AC20/Dam3), and sends a bullet flying into his knee.

The newest goblin to tree-shape in front of Peerimus (g6) hurls its javelin at him (AC22/Dam1), and grazes his side as it fades to the right.

From further down the South-East path, a larger, uglier, darker fey-orc emerges. In a gravel-like voice he calls out to the group in broken Woldian. "Argh! Yuz dedded myz bitch! Yuz bastards!" He spits on the ground, before looking up again. "Yuz s'randed! Nut ya ken doo! Fro yuz weppuns dan an' we'z takez yuz t'Lod Gargul! Uvawize, we'ze KILZ yuz!"

Upon hearing their leader's voice, the others pause momentarily, allowing a response. However, each of them remain prepared for battle.

"Your dead kobold there started it," Kendry replies. The arrow in his bow aims for the chest of Ogre 3 which, up until an instant ago, was charging toward him. "We'll not lay our weapons down for such as you. You lay down your weapons if you want the least chance of surviving! So far, we've gone easy on you." In sequential draconic, goblin, and orc, he says, "Surrender - Surrender - Surrender!"

If Ogre 3 - or any other opponents, so much as twitch in his direction, he lets fly, and again. [Hit AC 26 for 10+10=20 hp, and AC 25 for 9+8=17, total 34 hp damage to Ogre 3 - if condition is met.] [Spot 12; Listen 28] (All this likely will happen if his companions continue their attacks.)

[And if Ogre 3 still approaches following the two arrows, he tumbles [Tumble 26] to P16, and takes aim at Ogre 5, figuring that his friends who surround him can finish off Ogre 3.]

Dealing with Pesky Goblins

Seeing the two Goblins materialize behind him, Podo turns to face them. Its only then that he sees them cast spells toward him. Trying to stave off the effects of the spell, Podo concentrates (Will = +12 +2 against Enchantments; DC13, roll is 19)and safely avoids the effects of the Goblin flung spell!

Attacks abound -- Flurry of Blows

With Darkwood Quarterstaff in hand whist still wearing all his magical equipment, Podo charges into the frey 10 feet to engage the spell chuckers(from I14 to F12)to beat those two with unarmed Flurry of blows. Striking Goblin(g2) (DC:20; damage:(2d6+2) 12), 2nd strike on (g2) (DC:32 (NAT20); second roll to see if crit DC:13; Damage: 8 if not crit / Crit=16); 3rd attack on (g2) -- (DC: 16+12 = 28; Damage:5).

Spinning like a top striking with a combination of feet, elbows, & knees while balancing with the quarterstaff Podo deals a most devistating barrage against his ENEMY! "How dare you interrupt my thoughts...." shouts podo at Goblin (g2). Pivioting to face Goblin (g5), Podo grins an most vicious smirk saying, "You're next! Don't even try to run..."

A lethargy settles over Tishe' making her blink sleepily. A stir of angry fire comes from inside her and burns off the spell and she turns bright eyes on the two goblins. (Will save: 22)

"You should know it is difficult to overcome a spellcaster's mind, you of the stolen soul. Try this instead." And five more magic missles fly from the wand towards g5 (17 damage)

Snout spits out the disgusting orc body. Ugh! Worse than kobold! And then watches his humans back so nothing sneaks up on her from behind.

Airin and Erwen  d20+25=42 d20+20=38
Monday March 27th, 2006 1:58:35 AM

Airin hears the Orc leader but doesn't understand a word he says. Never the less, he's to be taken care of...

Going at double speed, Airin hustles towards the Orc Leader ending up in Q21.
Thanks to her Woodland stride ability Airin's not hampered by the thick undergrowth, however she does take -10 on both Hide and Move Silently.

(Hide: 42 - 10 = 32)
(Move Silently: 38 - 10 = 28)

Now she's only 15 to 20ft away from the Orc leader who hopefully did not see her just yet. Next turn... haha next turn...

Peerimus notes his companions' reactions to the call for surrender, hardly surprising and the druid certainly had not given thought to it at all. While the leader of this party is within easy striking distance the opponents are not all they appear. The Fey infused monsters are damage resistant and wielding spells. The druid decides for a bit of caution and casts Barkskin, sharing the spell with Shaylin. A quick rune is traced with one hand and the druid speaks a pair of words in a strange tongue, 'Baba Mlinzi' and for an instant his skin and Shaylins fur seem to stiffen and crack.

If Bralin has not already killed the goblin (g6) Peerimus and Shaylin move forward "Shaylin, Kill it." The words again are authoritative and cold. Shaylin is on the goblin in the blink of an eye. Claws and teeth rend and tear at it. [Handle Animal 27 Claw AC 26/ 25 Bite 26 Rake 21/19 Dmg 4/4 bite 7 rake 4/4 total 25]

Shaylin moved to R-15 and Peerimus to Q-15, regardless if Bralin already killed the goblin.

Round 4

Map update: view Round 4.

Kendry notices the large fey-orc's face contort into a foul grimace as he realises his bluff has been called. Hefting his double-axe, he clicks his thick neck from side-to-side, lowers his horns, and charges at Bralin. His blade just misses.

At that moment, the enemy continues it's attack with earnest. And, Kendry is quick to note the fey-orc that had him marked earlier (o3) has not forgotten. Slightly annoyed, the halfling looses an arrow straight into the fey-orc's chest. Surprised by the attack, it doesn't even notice the large shadow that grasps it with four powerful arms and tears its body apart in one swift motion.

Gilan throws the bits of fey-orc to the ground.

In a blur of movement, Podo knocks his enemy (g2) to the ground, unconscious. The halfling monk quickly dismisses it as a threat - with it's legs and ribs surely broken. Before he turns towards the other fey-goblin he notices dark blood pooling under its head, and its breathing becoming more shallow.

Meeting Podo's challenge, the other fey-goblin (g5) attacks. It swings it's morningstar high, aiming for the halfling's head, but before it can connect there is a flash and its chest explodes with a volley of magic missiles.

Tishe lowers her wand.

Bralin swings his axe and connects with such force that, even as the first fey-goblin falls (g4), he is able to take a short step and carry through with his attack, cutting deeply into the rump of the other fey-goblin at his side (g6).

Peerimus and Shaylin easily finish off the-fey-goblin-with-a-most-pained-expression (g6).

The fey-kobold that had previously fired at Peerimus (k2) steps towards a tree and begins to climb.

Meanwhile, Airin sneaks through the undergrowth and fog. In front of her she watches Bralin face off with the large fey-orc (o5).

Gilan gives no thought to anything as he throws himself at the orc that just ignored him. Through his rage he does not even feel the spell that rolls over him and then just... goes. That orc should not ignore him and that is the truth... now he will show it why.

Kendry fires his arrows this time at the boyfriend of the dead orquessa. What with Bralin quite close though, his aim is not as accurate as earlier, but he steadies somewhat for his second shot at orc 5. [Hit AC 17 for 14 hp damage, 2nd arrow hit AC 20 for 20 hp damage.]

[Spot 21; Listen 28] Figuring that Bralin, if not Peerimus and Shalin, will finish off the boisterous orc, if his arrows have not done the job, Kendry looks about to see if there are more foes hidden about. He also listens with care for signs of enemy movement. He moves down to P20 to gather what he might gather.

Except for that climbing flying kobold. If any escape, their chance for sneaking is completly over. "Piggie dumps", she mutters as Tishe' activates her wand one more time, putting five into the back of the kobold. (19 damage)

"We've got to be ready and move quickly through the sanctuary" she tells the others "if this is how the little mosters get tougher, how much more impressive will be trolls or giants?"

She prepares to move out, and a young Snout just grins.
