Tobias
Monday April 10th, 2006 11:01:28 AM

"No, he would probably have a field day in this place..." Tobias says to Kendry.

"Oh, and Dwight, I have a sealed scroll from the druids for you to give to Bella." Tobias says as he hands the scroll over to Dwight.

Dwight
Monday April 10th, 2006 2:58:13 PM

Finding Tobias, looking for him, Dwight stops walking up and down the many aisles for a moment. "Oh a scroll you say."

Dwight takes the scroll and almost wishes it wasn't sealed. Placing it in a secure place inside his clothes, "Thanks."

Dwight then checks around and continues his search on ishgara, foxglove, fey and woldblood.

Keeping Time

Podo and the gang wander the stacks looking for knowledge and information.

While Podo looses himself to find himself he suddenly remembers they had a time limit. He runs looking for Kendry to remind him of our time and the promises made.

Kendry
Monday April 10th, 2006 11:07:53 PM

"We should leave by tomorrow, Podo," Kendry answers him. "That should get us home with two or three days to spare, so we can join Bella in the tasks she has for us. On such a long journey, it's good to pad the time a bit, just in case."

Selithe
Monday April 10th, 2006 11:17:48 PM

Selithe hangs out with her brother and others before heading to look for the books she is interested in and looking them over some before listening to what Kendry says and smiles as she nods, "It's going to be nice to get back out and moving again. I don't mind the time to relax but just feel like getting on the move again."

Stacks and books and scrolls and such (ADM Kim)
Tuesday April 11th, 2006 4:46:27 AM

As the halflings wander the stacks, librarians guide their charges, answering questions as they might, directing them to books, scrolls, maps, even drawings, sketches and paintings that address their interest in magic, botany, plants, cosmology, Lawni's Lens, the Telperiën clan (with genealogical information stretching back 300 years, but the book was written 30 years ago, so no more recent information is disclosed), the Ishgara tree (one group of adventurers claimed each to have received a benefit from the tree, some stronger, or quicker of wit, or more nimble, more healthy, after having slept beneath its branches), foxgloves, dressing a fox ("Oh, not what you're looking for?"), fey ("A vast subject"), WoldsBlood, a brief biography of the legendary half-elven ranger-cleric Lars Tokasis, Hero of Annun Far, Scourge of the Dark Lord, Liberator of The Last Fortress - and founder of the WLA.

Having overheard the young adventurers talking, another librarian delivers to Tobias' hands an essay marked Think like a wolf, and join the pack. Written by a shapechanger who lived for a year among wolves as one of them, it has much useful information on lupine ways.

Some of the 17 volumes of "Journye to the Moones" by Lord Karlton Pobberington-Whyte III are on the shelves, though volumes 3 through 6 which treat on the "Mystikal Maidens of the Moone" are all checked out. Volume 1, 2, 7, 9-11, and 16 and 17 are on the shelves. The librarian informs Kendry that 8 and 12 through 15 are being read by others in the library at this time. "Lord Karlton claimed to have visited the moons, lofted above by a round globe and a basket. Fanciful, I dare say, yet some find his prose, if not entirely scholarly, then at least rousing in parts. And none yet have successfully disputed that his cartographical representation of the Wold is the most comprehensive and accurate to date. Not the most locally detailed, but, for the general outline of the continents and isles, quite useful. We've a few copies - there's one on yonder wall, in point of fact." With a pleasant smile, he points to the map.

Podo is shown a thin monograph entitled, "First Steps of a Walker - How Our Journey Leads to Life," by Jon Seederman. Authored half a century ago, it tells of the early stages of his lifelong journey to travel the Wold, planting seeds of fruit and flower wherever he stopped to rest.

Selithe is shown a sketchbook of jewelry, as one of the librarians noticed the representation of the sun and two moons on her necklace. Within the book is a bracelet with the same symbols. "Ianialiya's lucky bracelet" is written beneath it. "She counts eight catastrophes averted by the bracelet. Who knows whether she is right?" Many other charms and items of ornamentation are illustrated, some only in black pen sketches, and a few in full color.

If any desire copies of certain texts, scribes will make copies typically for five gold pieces per page - including materials and labor. Maps and pages with drawings and such come in at higher prices. Lord Karlton's map, a small version such as fits on a standard piece of parchment, can be had for 150 gold pieces.

Elsewhere? ADM Kim

But one can keep one's nose in books only so long. Stomachs rumble, and Selithe clearly has had enough of dusty tomes.

Does the group wish to linger in the library, or do something about their stomachs?

Kendry
Tuesday April 11th, 2006 5:20:21 AM

Ecstatic to learn about Lord Karlton's trip to the moons, Kendry spends a good hour or so covering as much ground as he can in the first volume of the 17. He inquires as to whether and where one might buy a complete set. "And what's the going price?"

But, yes, he does feel hungry. "What say we return to the WLA and join them for dinner - or find out whether we can raid the kitchen if we're too late for that. In the morning, we can catch the carriage from here to Windhorn Hamlet, then work our way home from there."

Airin
Tuesday April 11th, 2006 6:37:44 AM

Airin checks the Telperien books but as they do not give any recent information Airin wonders if she will ever find them at all.
Maybe she can find where they used to live. After all one of the rings shows "Let the Deed show"

But then her stomach definetely begins to growl and is ready to go to find a bite.

Tobias
Tuesday April 11th, 2006 11:38:12 AM

Tobias reads the essay on living with wolves and picks out the interesting pieces. It's quite fascinating. He inquires about how much it will be to scribe the full essay.

ADM Kim - quick answer for Tobias
Tuesday April 11th, 2006 11:58:32 AM

The essay on wolves is 20 pages in length; therefore, 100 gold pieces. They can have it ready by sunrise. The Royal Library is open day and night.

Tobias
Tuesday April 11th, 2006 12:53:05 PM

That sounds good. Tobias will request to have the essay scribed and hand them 100 gp.

Selithe
Tuesday April 11th, 2006 1:18:57 PM

Selithe chuckles as she feels her stomach rumble and also makes note of the charm in the book.

On the way out she listens to everyone before making a comment to her brother, "Hey Kendry. I think when we can afford it I should see about having my necklace idetified that I received after the fey king fight. If we could buy a peral sometime I could cast the spell, that might save some money." Selithe shrugs and smiles, "But it should wait alittle longer, I got a package coming in from the catacombs that took some of my money but now maybe I can help out more in certain circumstances. I'll have to show everyone what I got."

Kendry
Tuesday April 11th, 2006 1:59:37 PM

"Didn't you mention that you thought it gave you an extra prestigitation spell, Selithe? The necklace, I mean?" He reaches out to finger the necklace, feeling the texture of the crystal representation of the sun and the moons Wardd and Ffloy.

"But, yeah, it would be wise to have someone examine it to learn more of its intrinsic powers. Quite a gift, that!"

Dwight
Tuesday April 11th, 2006 6:27:51 PM

Looking through each book he finds of interest, Dwight tries to linger in the many aisles hoping to find an informative piece of information. As others begin to stroll out, Dwight realizes he library treat is drawing to a close, per his empty stomache and aching eyes (not having read so much ever in his life at one time).

"Okay, we should all probably leave together to make sure we don't get lost in these vast aisles."

"I'm glad to have those two or three days of buffer when travelling, I'd hate for my scroll to be delivered late."

ADM Kim (filling in for JP)
Wednesday April 12th, 2006 12:08:17 AM

Dwight was able to pick up a bit about the Ishgara tree he had not known before (see above in the first sentence under the 'Stacks and books...' post), as well as a drawing of the tree, and a detail of leaf and bark.

The library security staff has the group go through the scanning process before they are allowed to leave. Initially there is a bit of consternation as the sealed scroll tube is found among Dwight's effects, but when it is pointed out that Tobias brought it in, and this accords with their records, that matter is settled to no one's harm.

The party makes it to the WLA, passing a fire juggler enroute through Adventurer's Square.

Though dinner is well underway by the time the party arrives, there still is plenty of food to enjoy. Tewdwr is pleased to see Tobias return, and quickly plants himself by the ranger's side. He is cautious around the other halflings, though.

"Your wolf - wolfs? - wants to be the boss of the dogs here," Gray, Linalel's husband, tells Tobias. "Had to have a talking with him, separate them for a bit. Gra got a pretty good nip on her left haunch from the more aggressive one, but was ready to give it right back.

"It'd be good if the dogs' masters - Selithe and Kendry, right? - and you, Tobias, spent some time with them tonight, let them figure out who is boss among themselves, without killing each other. After that, there should be more peace among 'em. It's just a dog-wolf matter, y'know. They gotta know that you all are dominant over them. Always a good game among friends," the elf concludes.

Bill Troublefinder lets the party know that the carriages bound for Windhorn Hamlet leave at ten o'clock in the morning, and he has confirmed their reservations, unless they want to reschedule for another day.

Tobias kind of chuckles at Gray's description of Tewdwr's antics, "Sounds like the first few weeks of travel with Tewdwr is going to be interesting."

He introduces the rest of the party to his wolf companion: Kynan and Dryw (the two-headed wolf). And, Tobias spends time with them and the dogs and Selithe and Kendry - making sure they play nice and get to know each other. We don't want Tewdwr harming any of dogs, ponies, or hawks... As they spend more time together, hopefully the dogs and wolf begin to calm down and warm to one another.

Handle Animal check: 15 (+4 if it's for Tewdwr)

Dwight
Wednesday April 12th, 2006 4:46:39 PM

Back at the WLA, Dwight checks all of his belongings in his room and then makes for chow, leaving everything except Bella's scroll. Leaving others to play with the dogs, and the wolf-wolf. While Dwight has never seen one before, food is calling him and he has learned enough new information for today.

After eating a hearty meal, Dwight sits back and listens.

"Food!" Kendry barely can wait for all his friends to sit down he wants to eat so much. But his folks taught him to wait for the whole family - which practice helped the siblings 'encourage' one another to be there on time. "Thank you!" he tells the kitchen staff. And, all seated, he digs in. "So, after dinner, it's canine fellowship time, eh?" he asks between bites. "Airin, maybe the dogs and wolf should get to know each other first - then we'll see about your hawk. Should we just wait until we're on the road. Then there are the ponies. Say, let's talk later tonight."

He is willing to spend time with Tobias' new friend. What a marvel! A wolf with two heads! And three names... "C'mon, Selithe. Let's help Cheann, Gra and Tewdwr get to know each other."

[Handle animal: 26 - While working with his dog Cheann, 16 with Selithe's Gra, and 17 with Tobias' Tewdwr.]

Before retiring for bed, Kendry wants to spend some time with Airin. "I don't know about you, but I'd like to do something that stretches us. That draws us out, but makes us stronger, too. Well, whatever we end up doing, I just want you to know that I am glad to be with you, Airin." He kisses her on the forehead, and then on each cheek. He lightly touches the tip of her nose with his finger. "'Night, love."

In bed, he spends time writing in his journal the events of the last day or two.

When each of the adventurers retires for the night, his bed is short sheeted. Her bed, too.

OK, JPW: Your turn.

Selithe  d20+4=7
Wednesday April 12th, 2006 10:43:28 PM

Selithe tries to work with Kendry and Tobias to get their animals to work together better but finds that she has some trouble and frowns as she gets alittle disappointed since she feels she personally isn't working well with Gra at the moment, "Dang, just ain't having much luck here." She is happy for her brother and Tobias though which seem to be handling the animals much better then her. (Handle Animal:7)

Selithe enjoys the food and gets ready to call it a night after this, yawning and stretching as she heads to her room.

Kendry, addendum
Thursday April 13th, 2006 1:48:50 AM

"Hey! Who shorted my sheets? Podo? Patterton? Who?!?" Kendry undoes the linens from his bed, and remakes it, after jamming his feet only a little ways under the covers.

In the morning he sings quiet songs as he takes advantage of the baths, enjoying the fresh feeling as he towels his body dry.

Airin
Thursday April 13th, 2006 10:56:01 AM

Airin greatly enjoyes dinner that evening and marvels at Tobias's companion. Never before did she see such creature!

"Yes let's wait for bringing in Fioni. To be honest, I'm not sure where she's hanging out! I haven't seen her when we left the ibrary. I just hope she will remember the location of the WLA and return to us later this evening..."

When Kendry talks to her and kisses her goodnight Airin's not entirely sure what he was trying to say. She's also more than happy to be with him and can't figure they would ever be seperated. Oh drat... Kendry's always been a man of words... sometimes too many... and Airin is but a simple lass that seeks affection and love.

Later in bed Airin wonders long what Kendry was trying to say and checks if selithe is allready a sleep.

"Selithe? Are you awake? ... pssst ... Seliiithe... You're brother, do you know what he meant by this : "I don't know about you, but I'd like to do something that stretches us. That draws us out, but makes us stronger, too. Well, whatever we end up doing, I just want you to know that I am glad to be with you, Airin." ... it's got me puzzled."

Tobias
Thursday April 13th, 2006 11:18:47 AM

Tobias enjoys a hearty dinner after a long day and is soaking everyone's stories. He spends some more time with Tewdwr after dinner before retiring to bed...

Dwight
Thursday April 13th, 2006 2:49:18 PM

Enjoying the meal, but his mind shifting through his information, Dwight lies in bed on top of the covers for a long time wide awake.

"None of my business really," answers Dwight so that others know he is listening, "but perhaps she wants a litte more adventure. While the first day or three i joined up, it was quite intense, since then...well its been less. We have accomplished some important things, like getting the tower fixed, but its not the same as defeating the king of the fey."

After a brief pause he chuckles, "but then again, maybe its not about US, its about ya'll, the two of you. I'll not pretend I have the slightest idea what she could mean if its about ya'll. Though I suspect if you are puzzled, its working." Dwight smiles in the dark and tries again unsuccessfully to get some sleep.

Selithe
Thursday April 13th, 2006 7:01:39 PM

Selithe looks to Airin when she speaks to her and smiles as she stops her humming mainly to herself and nods, listeing, "hmm, if I had to guess Airin he is seeing if your relationship advances farther or something like that but I'm not really sure."

Selithe rolls over on her stomach and looks to Airin as she just chats with her, "have to give me alittle break on that type of advice, kind of new to the whole love thing to. Beside, Patty has been making himself awfully hard to find lately." Selithe sighs and shakes her head, "Guess I just don't have no luck with men you know." Selithe smiles and thinks of something she gets a candle a lights in and casts a simple presidigitaton (misspell probably and I think the spell will work to cause this) to make the flame of the candle turn purple (and if it's possible) a second presid spell to make it dance around alittle and smiles as she looks to Airin, "Might not be the best magic but intertaining none the less huh?"

(I know the spell should beable to change the color of the candle flame but not sure about making it dance, it sounds more like a control flame or such spell but figured since it was mainly for rp purpose the DM might allow me to do it.)
