Toros targets the last-remaining fey-orcs in the battle field with his magic missiles. The first two arrows hit the one in front (O5, 9 hp damage), and the last three, the one behind (O2, 8 hp damage). Then he cannot help but curiously have a look at what Dreana is writing next to him.

The battle is nearly over with only three of the fey-orcs still standing.
Xenia shuffles closer to the rockface in order to bracket a fey-orc between herself and Appolo. She manages to injure the fey-thing pretty badly, leaving it as easy prey for Appolo.
Nauthiz'Ull takes advantage of the fey-orcs leaving to switch to his bow. His arrow doesn't injure fey-orc O2 but the flame does. DM JohnP - You didn't designate a target, so I took the closest not engaged in melee.
Appolo ignores the weakened fey-orc next to him. Instead, he steps towards the fey-orc that injured him and hits with his longsword. Again, the thick hide of the fey-orc absorbs most of the damage.
Garrett charges into combat, drawing upon his training to pull all of his momentum into the sword swing. He nearly cuts the fey-orc in two.
Toros uses his wand again, hitting the last two of the fey-orcs. One drops and the second is barely standing.
Thora draws and fires her bow at the sole remaining fey-orc. Her first arrow lodges in the hide of the creature but the second strikes true. The fey-orc collapses to the ground.
No opponents remain standing. Dreana comes forward from where she remained during the combat.
"Congratulations! You are quite efficient in combat, are you all? And who is this here?," pointing to Nauthiz'Ull.
"You seemed to know him. Do you? But enough of that. We should get going before the noise of combat draws more patrols."

"Uhh, ya. Probably has something to do with that secret that Alemi won't talk about. Doesn't it?"
"No matter. What matters is that we got through that scrape pretty much unscathed. Although a couple of you were injured, weren't you?"
Looking about at everyone, and turning her head away from Appolo killing the injured and dying fey-orcs, Dreana continues to speak.
"What exactly were your plans for getting into Gargalus' lair? Dreana and I can't go in, but you should agree on how you were going to do it."

Especially as we are going now to the Gargalus' lair" welcomes Toros his friend, while hiding his hesitation about this endeavor behind his cheer. He has no plans or whatever for this, and wait for others to suggest something.

The he suddenly rounds on Xenia with a finger pointing.
"You! You rock hun! Nice work with that chain. I cannot understand how you do that."

Then she gets down to business.
"First, I think we need to scope the scene. Like me Da always says, 'What you don't know can kill you.'"
"We need to know the ground we're moving into. If we gotta go inside, it would be nice to know the layout of the rooms. And most of all, I think we need to know what we're after."
"All we know right now is that it's an object of power. It could look like anything, and it could be anywhere. If it's on Gargulas at all times, we might have to try and snatch it from him. But, if we're lucky, it will just be stashed for safety or mounted for use and display."
"That means finding a place nearby where the main party can sit safely while one or two move in to scout. If any of you have a way to talk between the groups from a distance, that would be really good."

In the aftermath of the short battle the party gets reacquainted with Nauthiz'Ull, Toros first and most effusively. Nauthiz'Ull is more interested in the fighting prowess of this companions and their guides, particularly Thora.
After that interactions, the party briefly discusses their options for entering Gargalus' lair. Xenia is the only one who suggests a course of action. No one responds to hre request for comment.
Thora and Dreana stand back and let the party decide. As usualy, Dreana is the only one who speaks.
"That might work, who knows. We have to keep our eyes out as we move closer to Gargalus' place. He has little scouting parties like this one farther out, and bigger ones in closer. They're supposed to spot people trying to sneak in and either capture them or call in backup. When this group is missed there will probably be bigger sweeps by more parties."
Not waiting for more discussion, Thora leads off into the woods again. She leads the party to the west, now staying away from paths and spots where they might be observed.
After an hour or so, the party reaches another clearing and Thora motions them to a halt. Dreana starts murmering with Thora.
This seems like a good spot for the party to further discuss strategy before they get too close to Gargalus' lair.

The ranger pats Toros on the shoulder as the group starts onwards. HIs feet quickly, instinctively, guide him forward with Thora as much as she permits.
Thoughts are reverted to that of the wolf as his always are when stalking this way. His eyes are iced optics scanning the mintute and watching for any signs of danger.
As the group holds up again Nauth offers his opinion;
"I really am not sure what is going on here, so I nothing to offer. Give me a little to readjust and I will be back to norm, mind brewing." .......................... Move Silent-21 Listen-26 Spot-31

"Yeah. I betcha Gargulas knows about us. Or at least knows about some group that put the smack on his little army. But, that doesn't mean he knows where we are or what we're up to. I mean, he knows about them elves too. The one's who came in to clean up at the end of the battle. He knows about Alemi and Domi too. I bet he's got a lot to be watching right now."
"Maab coulda tipped him off to us. But the way she was talking about him, I don't think they talk much. 'Course, you never know. Some women are just, like, Evil, you know what I mean?"
"Point is, talking, and knowing stuff is free. And you don't turn down free stuff when you can get it. We gotta talk as if Gargulas doesn't know we're here otherwise there's no point in talking at all. And if he is scrying on is right now, we're just as stuffed as though we went in blind anyway. So we might as well talk."
"So, Dreana, sounds like you and Thora have been this way before. If you know where Gargulas has his place, I'm thinking that you know what it looks like. At least from afar. What's he got? A mansion? A cave fortress? A compound like Oshirr House? What's the main entrance like? Big door? Small door? Any other entrances?"
Xenia kneels. From her haversack, she draws a quill pen and a sheet of paper.
"Here." She offers the writing implements to Dreana then to Thora then to Dreana then to Thora. "Um ... can you draw a rough map? Something for us to go by. Don't worry too much about detail. We don't know nothing right now. Just a little bit of something will get us a long way."

The party takes advantage of the short break to consider strategy. Nauthiz'Ull sits back and tries to learn what has been happening.
Appolo and Xenia seem to agree that Gargalus knows that the party is in the valley. And they agree that scouting and intelligence is the way to proceed. Xenia asks Dreana and Thora about what information they can provide. Toros perks up at the mention of a map.
Thora and Dreana put their heads together and quietly murmur. After a moment, Drean reaches out for the drawing implements that Xenia offers. She starts drawing a map and providing commentary as she does.
"Here," pointing towards the top of the map. "This is Oshirr House, here."
Then she moves her pen over to the left side of the map. "Over here is Maab's place and up here is Eberyon's cave. I labelled it Castle Fey but it's really just a cave in a hill. I think it is, anyway. He cloaks it with illusion most of the time so it's hard to tell."
"Here to the southeast is Gargalus' lair. We're about here," pointing about halfway between the road and the southern hills. "As I said before, expect patrols to be out and looking for you. Especially when the ones that we rescued your friend from doesn't come back."
"We, uhhh, did go call on Gargalus a while back. Just to try to get his story, you know. His place is a converted cave from the looks of it. Creepy is what it is, actually. It's big inside but it's not comfortable."
She looks about at the party and continues. "Gargalus greets people upstairs. He's got a pretty throne there and stuff to impress them. Mainly monsters that he's captured, tamed or created. We didn't see more of it, but there are stairs off the throne room."
"So, that's it. That's what we know. What are gonna do?"

Listening others, Toros tells what he has to offer, "Xenia, as you have asked, I still have a couple of scrolls for whispering 'message' within distance". Also, I have got philters that can help us speak with animals or plants. Those trees near Gargalus' Lair could be good to ask what has been happening recently around, if we could..." While talking, Toros shows the trees that are drawn on the Valley Map in front of the Gargalus' compound, which is converted from a cave.

"Fram ... " the rogue swears to herself. "Look at all those monster cages."
"That's a good idea, Toros. If Gargalus has been out front of his own place, maybe the trees know if he's got an unusual object of power with him."
She studies the layout.
"I'm not sure I'll be able to sneak in," she says, and she points to the first corridor off the entrance. "See these cages on both sides. If I were setting this place up, I'd put critters that can smell in here. Anyone trying to sneak on me, would get smelled, and the critters would growl up."
"Alright, so far, I'm thinking this is a bad spot, and we're mostly blind. We got, what? Me, Toros, Garrett, Appolo, and Nauth'Ull. Syr and Oni Magic Guy both look like their suffering from Time Lag. That's five against a God and lots of cages of monsters."
"Biggest problem is finding the Power Thingie. If we're lucky, Gargalus has it near him, and I think that means it's in this Throne Room place. Until we hear from the trees, that's all we have to go on."
"Looking at the way this place is set up, we got no choice but to charge straight through to the Throne Room, snatch the Power Thingie and get out. If it ain't there, we're all frammed up. We gotta play it by ear. No way to think of nothing else before hand. Gotta hit and move. Stay out of their way when we can, maybe by flying and stuff, if you can. Anybody have stuff that can delay them? That Entangle stuff was good back at Oshirr House, Toros."
"Wonder where the other stairs go?" Xenia points to the stairs at A and C.
"Dreana, do these go up or down?" she asks.

Looking over the map with Xenia and Toros Nauth wonders how they are going to do this.
"What I am curious about is where is the back entrance? Even the cave dwellings in the Vein had another route of entance or escape, depending on how you look at it. I bet there is another way in. It will be in the encompassing mountains....an area I know quite a bit about. That way we are not walking into the ulf's mouth."
Undecidedly, Nauth looks to the others for their reactions to his proposal.
"Garret, wunjo, did you honestly think we would get away from caves and climbing?"
The fur clad scout pats a heavy hand on his native brethren's shoulder and continues to study the maps.
"I bet that one of those other stairways will eventually lead to the throne room."

"Good points." Xenia looks up from the map to address the rest. "Means we should do some scouting before we even get to the front of Gargulas' cave.
"See this here," she points to the words Monster Sanctuary. "That worries me. Unless I read it wrong, it means we probs won't have a lot of time to hand around the outside of Gargulas' place." She sums up her point it two words, "Roving monsters."
"Tell me, Dreana, when you went through last time, were there roving monsters? And did you ever get up in this area behind Gargulas' place? Up here?" And Xenia points to the hill drawn in the lower right corner of the map.
"If it looks possible, we'll find a place to hole up while a couple of us search around the hill for another entrance. But be ready, just in case that's not possible, 'kay?"

Appolo studies the map and listens to the others."Ok I think we should look for a back way in.Swing around to the otherside of the mountian.As Nauthiz'ULL says most places do ahve at least one escape route,We should also look for air shafts and such.Just need to be careful.I gaurentee after losing so many creatues in the last battle Gargulas has probably been turning out new creatures for the last couple of days."

Dreana and Thora sit back and listen as the players plan. Dreana speaks up to clarify things.
"This is just Gargalus' lair, the old cave. You have to approach it through a compound that he had his creatures build."
Dreana quickly draws a sketch of the compound, showing the entrance to the cave and the buildings.
"When we were there, there were three low sheds. From what we saw, the sheds were barracks for the things he had made. It's surrounded by a rough wall of stones and timber. Nothing as good as Oshirr House."
Listening to the questions of the party, Dreana continues. Nodding to Toros, she mentions that there were trees pretty close to the compound walls.
After Xenia asks about the stairs, she indicates that all the stairs that she remembers led downwards.
When both Nauthiz'Ull and Appolo ask about back entrances, Dreana looks to Thora. The silent ranger shrugs.
"Don't know, really. But we never saw all of the cave."
"We better get going. Decide what you want to do and we'll get going."
"Stairs lead down, huh?" Xenia swings along with the rest of the party as they move out toward the Compound of Gargulas. She plays the maps through her mind in light of the new information. Especially the revelation that there is a compound outside the entrance to the lair.
"You know, 'Ppolo, I don't think there's a back entrance to this Lair. There's no sense building a compound to protect the front entrance if there's a back entrance that can be rushed and broken into."
"Now, there might be a secret back escape route to this place. Maybe. A lot of places have them. But, if there is, I don't think we're gonna find it before we get found ourselves."
"Fram," Xenia swears as she looks down on the map of the compound. "I hate to start a fight before we get in and find the Power Thingy. That'll alert the whole place. I mean, then we'll have a God breathing down our necks."
"Also, with only the one entrance into or out of the Lair, they can easily defend it against us if we're on the outside. And they can easily seal it up if we're on the inside."
"Alright, here's a plan. A distraction combined with a snatch and grab. First step is to break into the compound. Maybe get someone in and open the gates or all of us climb the wall. Outside we take on the minions in the barracks. Whoever's inside should come out to defend too. While that's happening, one, maybe two of us sneak in, find the Power Thingy, grab it and run. That's probs me and Toros. We could take more, but the more that go in, the fewer there's gonna be to fight off the critters outside."
"Once we're out, we all head for Oshirr House at a run."
"What say to that?"

Garrett listens intently to everyones thoughts on the matter. and thinks to himself for a few moments before speaking.
"It seems that we all agree that facing Gargulus himself would be a very bad thing. It would seem then that anything we do would be dependent upon stealth, or at the very least, ensuring that anything we encounter is unable to report back or raise an alarm."
"Perhaps scouting out the inside would be our best option. As you say Xenia, the creatures in the area likely can smell. What if the smell that they smelled was just the same as the rotten stench of the beings that they smelled every day."
"These orcs are dead, and we have their clothes, which coincidentally enough smell like orc. what if you were invisible, and or flying, wearing their clothes? Could you pass undetected for a look around?"
"We were told that Gargalus's creatures sleep during the day, except for a few patrols and guards, most of the place should be asleep. We could move relatively close, wait while you take a quick look around, and then make a quick plan.....Or I'm also okay with your idea Xenia, a frontal assault combined with one or two really sneaky people. We would all need to be able to communicate with each other durig the process, or we would not know who was where or doing what, or if our sneaky friends were in trouble."

Nodding in agreement with the still formulating plan, Nauth lightly pounds his chest with fist.
"I too can stalk, find and hide like the ulf. I too can stay in the shadows and Gargul himself grants me the powers to meld with the Realm of Shadows. I have also been blessed with the ability to sense spirits. There will most likely be some sort of spirit element within the stronghold."
Nauth looks around at the others, hoping that they understand the immense pride he takes at his abilities to stalk with the beast of them.

The party discusses their options as they move through the woods. Xenia suggests a diversion to allow their stealthier members of the party to secure the object created by Gargalus.
Garrett remembers that they were told that Gargalus' minions sleep by day, so that's the best time to go in. He also suggests going back for the clothing worn by the orcs to disguise their scent, in case any of the minions hunt by scent. DM Note: If you choose to use the clothing, everyone waits while someone returns for it.
Toros would rather that everyone stay together but the approach suggested by Xenia seems necessary. Nauthiz'Ull reminds everyone that he can hide with the best of them.
The others remain silent as the party moves forward. Finally, Thora hunkers down behind a bush and motions everyone to come forward. When they do, they can see the compound ahead in the middle of roughly cleared area. Some tall trees are still close by but closer to the walls only stumps remain.
It's pretty obvious what the trees have been used for. There are far more barracks constructed now. And the newer ones are taller, as if there was a second floor in the building.
Dreana whispers to the party, "We won't go in any closer. We'll stick around to take word back if you're captured. Or worse. Hopefully you'll make it out because I'd like to learn your story."

Pulling a scroll, the liontaur casts a "mage armor" on himself, and offers the same for his friends, before they go any further."Do you want the protection of the mage armor spell?The force field of the spell should protect for one hour, more or less." If any one wants, Toros will get enough scrolls to cast the spell on them one by one.

Garrett leaves the decision on scent and orc clothes to the people who plan on going in, for they are experienced at what will work and not work for them.
"I agree with Xenias plan. We will need to split up. No more than two of you should go inside though, the rest will be needed out here to help with the diversion, and to keep us from getting swarmed while we buy time."
"As a thought, Nauthiz'Ull is likely unknown to them, while the rest of us were seen at the battle of Oshirr house. If both Xenia and Toros are not present for this "diversion", even their primitive little minds may suspect something. I think Nauthiz'Ull should go, as well as either Xenia or Toros. It may be harder for you Toros to sneak around if the cave gets confined or tight. In my mind, it would likely be best for Xenia and Nauth to go."
"Whatever it is will likely be guarded, and hopefully not on Gargalus. If you encounter him, it would likely be best to leave. We will keep them busy for as long as we can, but be quick. the longer we are here, the more reinforcements will arrive."
Garrett will wait until the two members of the infiltration team go in, and then cast "shield of faith" upon himself.
"When we go in for the fight, I am going to cast righteous might, and increase my size, and my reach. If I take point, I may be able to get some free shots in on the ones that move in on you guys if you are close on my sides."
"Alright. Good." Xenia eyes the compound from their position. "I like your idea with the Orc clothes, Garrett. I mean, I don't like the idea of wearing Orc clothes. But it's a good idea. Lets do it."
The dark rogue stands for the trip back to the clearing where they had left the dead orcs.
"Think about this too, if we can start some of those barracks buildings on fire, we could maybe get rid of some of the orkies at the same time we create one fam-dram of a diversion. I don't got no more oils. But I got four more Alchemist' fire and some torches. Must be something burnable. And if they're mostly asleep and we can slip past their guards, we can have us a real cookout before they know it."
"Before I go, I wouldn't mind one of those spells, Toros. I got armor, but it'll help if there are any ghosties inside. I kinda doubt it, but it couldn't hurt."
Then Xenia takes a potion from her pouch and drinks it down. Her stride grows longer, and she heads out for the clearing.

Eyes of ice begin flashing back and forth between his companions as a plan is formulated. Nauth eagerly nods at the suggestion of backtracking for the orc clothing and smoothly draws out a scroll from one of several pouches on his belt. A quick reading and some mumbling of words and the scroll melds from parchment to magical energies that rush into the legs and feet of the dark human.
"We should go Xenia. Quick and quiet like our ulfen brethren. Let our feet grow pads and our instincts guide us."

Nearing the Compound (DM JohnP) Sunday April 2nd, 2006 10:28:12 PM
Everyone agrees on the merits of using the orc filthy clothing to disguise their scent. If nothing else, it will provide one less method for any means of detecting them.
Toros reads a scroll to give himself some added armor. He offers the same spell to others but only Xenia accepts his offer.
Garrett suggests that Nauthiz'Ull enter the compound since he was not present during the defense of Oshirr House. He also proposes a strategy for the diversion.
Xenia and Nauthiz'Ull complete their preparations and lead the others towards Gargalus' compound. They quickly reach the treeline where the last significant trees stand. Only stumps and low bushes lie in the 100 feet between the treeline and the compound.
Everyone gets a closer look at the compound now. They have approached near a corner of the compound but can see the front gate which stands open. There are no guards evident ... it seems the information that Gargalus' minions sleep by day was correct. The wall is barely 10 feet high and seems to be more a rough pile of stones to mark the boundary than a real defensive work.
The barrack huts can be seen, too. The walls look to be rough hewn logs and the roofs seem to be bark. Alchemists' fire would probably ignite the material.

Everyone agrees on the merits of using the orc filthy clothing to disguise their scent. If nothing else, it will provide one less method for any means of detecting them.
Toros reads a scroll to give himself some added armor. He offers the same spell to others but only Xenia accepts his offer.
Garrett suggests that Nauthiz'Ull enter the compound since he was not present during the defense of Oshirr House. He also proposes a strategy for the diversion.
Xenia and Nauthiz'Ull complete their preparations and lead the others towards Gargalus' compound. They quickly reach the treeline where the last significant trees stand. Only stumps and low bushes lie in the 100 feet between the treeline and the compound.
Everyone gets a closer look at the compound now. They have approached near a corner of the compound but can see the front gate which stands open. There are no guards evident ... it seems the information that Gargalus' minions sleep by day was correct. The wall is barely 10 feet high and seems to be more a rough pile of stones to mark the boundary than a real defensive work.
The barrack huts can be seen, too. The walls look to be rough hewn logs and the roofs seem to be bark. Alchemists' fire would probably ignite the material.
From here, the stealth party can choose to enter the gate or try to scale the wall. The assault team has the same choice.

"Quiet," she comments. "Spooky quiet. That's either really good or it's not good at all."
"Why don't you guys follow us to the entrance to the lair. No sense starting a ruckus before we need one. Maybe there won't be anyone in the compound at all."
She shakes her head.
"It's hard to figure that. But could be."
"Why don't Fur Gu ... Nauth and me scout ahead. We'll move to the wall first and tell you if it's clear, then you come on across."
"You still got that Message thing, Toros? That would help a lot."
Sneaking over ain't too hard. But Xenia jumps up to get a peak over the wall, and then misses her grip. With a small *eep* she falls back, tumbling to a safe, but embarrassed fall down below.

After doning the rank, musty smelling rags that the orcs called clothes, the ranger nodded silently to the amazonian lady and then to the dark girl with the bright teeth. He removed two glass flasks that contained a liquid the same color as the four that Xenia had given the others.
Suddenly he lept with the grace of a deer and took stride towards the compound with his companion.
Crawling, leaping, slinking, stalking his was closer to the the cave enterance. Blue eyes flashing as quick as the pixies flutter throughout the Giggling Ghost, where all of this began. Eyes trained by father, friend and survial instincts. Eyes trained to spot food, shelter or prey through the white-washed plains of ice.
Nauth will watch the Shadowdancer as he goes, playing off of her movements and hoping to lead as much as follow. .................... move silent.30 (NAT 20!) hide. 25 listen.30 spot.26

Up to the Wall (DM JohnP) Monday April 3rd, 2006 9:52:55 PM Xenia and Nauthiz'Ull make their fianl preparations before crossing the open area between the wall and the forest. The dark rogue hands her four vials of Alchemist Fire to the others.
Toros scratches absently under the fey-orc garments slung over his back. Apparently being turned into fey didn't improve the orcs' hygiene any. Besides the smell, Toros and the others think that they may have acquired some fleas or lice.
Appolo mutters some final advice on srategy before the two stealthy ones leave. Garrett and the others are waiting silently.
Xenia and Nauthiz'Ull silently cross the cleared area, carefulyl dashing between stumps and clumps of bushes. The reach the corner of the wall and can look in both directions. No guards can be seen outside the compound.
After a moment, Xenia leaps up to the top of the wall. But she misses her grip and gracefully slides down. Still, it was enough for her to see something of the interior.
The groundskeeping is no better than it is outside, for the most part. Except for some paths worn into the ground between the buildings, the inside of the compound is almost overgrown with grass. There are several piles of logs and building materials in the corner where she peered over the fence.
Xenia only saw a couple pairs of guards wandering inside the compound. They looked like the fey-orcs that the party has faced before.

Garrett sees how deserted things seem and speaks to the others with him. "Perhaps we need not even create a diversion. If everyone is sleeping except a patrol or two, we may actually cause more problems by waking up the entire compound."
"Toros, can you talk to them now? Can you find out if they still want us to attack? If everyone is asleep inside also, they may be able to get Gargalus's toy without any disturbance at all."
Garrett waits for an answer and quick thoughts from the group, still ready to move into the compound should the original plan carry through.

Watching as the girl scales the wall Nauth immediately begins to climb as well. Once to the top he looks around and decides that he woul dbe better suited on the ground like the ulf. Xenia can stay high, like the graceful bird that she is.
Upon landing the ranger grabs a quick handful of dirt and rubs it between his fingers before starting out. crouching low he begins across terrain not familiar to his land, but an animal never forgets how to survive.
The ice blue eyes begin flashing around again, as usual when his surroundings are his life. Cautiously but quickly he makes his way into the stacks of lumber and other amassed supplies. ................................ hide.25 move silent.24 spot.26 listen.26 climb.18

Xenia scales the wall and crouches on top. From here, she can see several pairs of the patrols inside the compound. Nauthiz'Ull follows her up and then drops to the inside of the wall.
Xenia reports back to Toros that the wall is under 10' high and is easy to climb, so everyone in the party should be able to make it up and over. Climb DC 10
Both Nauthiz'Ull and Xenia realize that the fey-orcs are nearly blind in the daytime. And they're not very vigilant so the two stealthy types should be able to sneak nearly all the way into the cave.

"So far so good, Garrett," responds the liontaur to the protector, and reports all of which Xenia has told to him. Then asks, "Do you want me to say anythingelse to her?"
Realizing that the two sneakers will separate, just before Nauthiz'Ull diappears behind the wall, Toros casts another Message spell and establishes another contact so that he can speak with both.
"Nauth, you can also whisper and talk to me, as Xenia does, and I can carry the message to the others... And, be careful!"
"Xenia, I can also talk with Nauth now, if you want to say something to him you can also do this via me"
Then Toros tells anything that Garrett or Appolo wants to talk with Xenia and Nauth and the vice verse.

Things start happening more rapidly now that the stealthy people are inside the compound. Toros casts another Message spell so that he can speak to both Xenia and Nauthiz'Ull inside the compound.
Impatiently, after receiving word that Xenia suggested crossing at the north end of the wall close to the hillside, Appolo sprints across the open space. There are no guards looking over the wall, so he makes it quite easily.
Meanwhile, Xenia has carefully picked her way northwards so that she is nearly to the same spot on the wall.
Nauthiz'Ull decides to scout in a different direction that Xenia. After studying the movement of the guards, he moves to the west and is able to remain in the shadows.
Both Xenia and Nauthiz'Ull relay what they see back to Toros. Each of the buildings has doorway at both north and south ends. The are windows on all sides but are currently shuttered, probably to keep it dark enough for the occupants to sleep. Strangely, the two story buildings have doorways on the second floor but no stairs up or down. There is a bell at each end of every building.
There is enough loose equipment, boards and unkempt shrubs most places inside the compound to allow people to hide. The beaten paths are clear and it's not possible to hide there unless the character has exceptional abilities.
All told, the two stealthy types see five pairs of guards. Two pairs walk circuits around the buildings on each side of the central path. And another pair trudges up and down the central path.
Garrett elects to remain with Toros. And it was a good thing, too, because when Appolo scales the wall he sees the fey-orc patrol. Still, he manages to get over the wall and hides himself before they spot him.

Using the Message spell Toros hears and tells what his friends want him to do so. He also lets others know that Appolo is coming after them, while Garrett and he still maintain their positions.
Then the wemic decides to cast a Protection from Evil scroll and offers another one to Garrett. Actually, if the Protector casts himself the spell from the scroll, the impact would be longer-lasting.

"Toros, can you tell them that if they want to scout do it quick. The longer they are in the compound, the greater the chance of being discovered. Gargalus' power source is our main goal. Once the alarm is rung, if they are not already inside, there will likely be a stream of people coming out that they will have to work past. We will move on their word, as they can see what is occuring much better than we."
"When we do go in Toros, we need to stay together, and fight side to side or back to back. We don't want to get swarmed and completely surrounded."

Appolo moves quickly and silently to hide behind the building nearest him.{He arrives at AC21}He keeps his eyes and ears open as he moves on the alert for trouble.
Who builds a wall this low? Don't even need to tumble off it.
Cloaked in her own private shadows, Xenia leaps to the ground and moves quietly around to one end of the building.
"Toros, there's Alarm Bells at the ends of all the buildings. I'm gonna take them out."
"I think there are also flappy guys stationed on the second floors of the buildings. Burning them out don't look like such a bad idea after all. If we need to."
From her haversack, the rogue removes a kit in preparation to muffle the bell.

Hearing reports from both Nauthiz'Ull and Xenia, Toros has a good idea of the situation and relays that to Garrett. He reads a scroll to cast Protection from Evil on himself and offers another copy to Garrett.
Garrett declines the offer, for the time being, in order to enchant his weapon. He suggests that Toros advise both members of the stealthy group to act quickly.
Appolo moves across the overgrown area inside the walls towards the wall of the nearest building. One the fey-orcs happens to be looking at just the correct time, and raises the alarm!
Still, Appolo is able to make it behind the nearest building and hide beside it. Fey-orcs Spot = 3, 20 (natural) And, AC21 would put Appolo inside one of the buildings, so I placed him alongside the nearest one.
Xenia moves towards the nearest of the buildings and prepares to muffle the alarm bell there. She is still hidden and, as far as she can tell, unobserved by the fey-orcs.
Nauthiz'Ull remains crouched beside the wall of the building. A pair of guards are coming towards him and he doesn't move.

The fey-orc (O1) who saw Appolo runs towards the end of the nearest building, grasps the cord hanging from the bell and begins ringing it. All the while, the creature is shouting.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
"Intruders! Raise the alarm! Intruders!
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
It keeps ringing the bell, announcing to anyone inside the compound that enemies have been spotted.
It's companion (O2) moves towards where Appolo was spotted. It approaches where Xenia is hiding but doesn't spot the skilled rogue.
Anyone hiding alongside the buildings can hear creatures inside beginning to stir. Xenia can see one poking its head from the nearest building.

If that plan is shot down during the next few seconds while Nauth removes a scroll from its respective pouch. With a look at the approaching orcs he flashes a wink and sprints back towards the piles of supplies where he first scaled the wall.
I am going to use a scroll. I will be able to understand what they are saying, amybe we can cheat them of any suprises. ........................... Spells Prepared 1) Entangle, Entangle 2) Cat's Grace
If there is enough time, Nauth will active the scroll of Comprehend Languages.
Xenia steps away from the door of the barracks and draws a potion from her haversack. She fires some quick information at Toros through the Message spell.
"We're made, Toros. They've seen someone. We gotta move quick now or be ready to kill every single last orkie around. And Gargalus too. I don't think we can do that."
"Burn down the barracks. Tell Nauth that I'm going in. I'll be flying."
Then the dark rogue gulps the potion and eyes her target ... the Front Door of the Lair.

Xenia backs away from the doorway, expecting enemies to come boiling out any second. She takes a potion from her pouch and gulps it down. He feet lift off the ground a short distance as she remains hidden beside the building.
Appolo no longer bothers with stealth, running along the outer wall of the building towards its south end. He is able to round the corner andreach the doorway but doesn't have time to throw the Alchemist's Fire inside. Free - draw weapon (alchemist fire) while moving, then Full round Run action to move to the south doorway, but still not able to throw the Alchemist fire
Garrett runs towards the compound, his armor making a clanking racket as he does so.
Toros remains in the undergrowth, relaying messages from Xenia and Nauthiz'Ull. Make a post early enough, and I'll include your actions for this round.

The fey-orcs who first spotted Appolo charge after him. The first one (O1) stops ringing the bell because he is confident that he has roused his fellows. It runs to the bell just beside Xenia and begins ringing it. The second runs past Xenia, not even suspecting that another enemy is hiding by his feet. Spot = 4

Other guards also run to ring alarm bells at the buildings.
Fey-orcs start to exit from the building where the first alarm bell was rung. Some of them see Appolo and start yelling.

Xenia flies. Literally. Thief's kit still in hand, she streaks though the air toward the doorway to the Lair. Low to the ground, speed is the important thing now.
Once inside, first thing is to start thinking of the way back out. The rogue spares a glance at the door to the Lair. Her eye looks for the way it closes and the way it locks. What sort of strength is it gonna take to open and close the sucker? Wouldn't be good to get locked in.
Cloaked in darkness, she listens up the way for the sound of running feet. Have the orkie's in the Lair caught on yet? And could she fly over them if they have? She looks up at the ceiling to guage the height.

Xenia flies off towards the entrance of the Lair, zooming in through the open doors after avoiding the fey-orcs. DM JohnP - More below in a spoiler post.
Garrett and Toros both keep running for the compound. Toros relays the advice that he received from Nauthiz'Ull, so the pair run for the front gate.
Appolo tosses the vial of Alchemist's Fire inside the tall building. He has the satisfaction of seeing the vial break against the floor, splashing a pair of fey-orcs inside the building. A pool of fire is burning near one of the walls of the building.
Appolo then sprints off towards the southeast between the building and the wall.
Nauthiz'Ull decides to run from the two fey-orcs rather than fighting them. He moves off to the north, allowing both of the fey-orcs to swing at his back. Only one of the fey-orcs manages to hit but it was a good swing. O3 misses AC 15 O4 hits AC 22 (threat), not confirmed AC 17, 10 damage
After moving away from the two fey-orcs, Nauthiz'Ull reads his scroll. DM JohnP - I parsed this exactly as you posted, only moving you first before reading the scroll. That way, at least the spell goes off.

The other pair of guards (O5 & O6) at the south end round the corner and see that their fellows are fighting a human. They run to the north and catch up to Nauthiz'Ull.

Xenia only - Highlight to display spoiler: {The dark rogue flies into the entrance of the lair. Just inside the cave opening are a pair of great bronze doors that could be swung across to bar the entrance.
Swung, that is, if Gargalus had several ogres or giants to serve as doorkeepers. In addition to the weight of the doors, it's obvious that they haven't been closed in a long time. The hinges look extremely corroded and there are piles of dirt in front of the doors.
Xenia moves 15 feet further into the entrance. She sees a set of stirs ahead of her that goes up approximately 30 feet. Beyond it, she can see something of the front portion of the cave. No guards are visible. }

Toros hurries to the entrance, drawing his magic missile wand, meanwhile. If he can see an enemy, he will activate the wand, the first three missiles to hit for one (13 hp damage) and the last two missile for another (8 hp).
OOC: Toros has a base speed of 50 ft now, I do not know, if two-three full rounds are enough to get to the entrance and attack with this speed. Feel free to position him appropriately.

The running battle continues inside the compound as everyone tries to attract the attention of the fey-orc guards.
Outside the compound, Garrett sprints to the front entrance of the compound.
Toros runs up to the entrance and fires his Wand of Magic Missile at the nearest two fey-orcs. That happens to be two of the fey-orcs attacking Nauthiz'Ull. One (O3) falls to the ground dead while the other (O4) is badly hurt.
Toros is close enough to see that the ranger is surrounded by the fey-orcs. Nauthiz'Ull wants to run towards the gate. He doesn't need to bowl over fey-orc O3 since Toros put that one down. So he withdraws, moving away from the two fey-orcs that have surrounded him. Nauthiz'Ull is able to make it to the gate, joining Toros and Garrett. Fey-orc O4 AoO misses AC 4 Fey-orc O5 AoO misses AC 5
Inside the compound, Appolo is dealing with the fey-orcs chasing him. He whips his two swords out and swings at the fey-orc. His first attack misses fey-orc O2 (AC 17) but the second bites deeply into the fey-orc. Appolo stands there, looking over his handiwork. He does see some smoke coming from the doorway where he hurled the Alchemist's Fire. DM JohnP - First attack missed as fey-orcs have AC 17. I rolled the crit confirmation for the second attack. You didn't indicate which one of the weapons was the bursting one and didn't roll the damage. And you didn't indicate where you wanted to move, so you're standing there for the fey-orc hordes.

Missiles from the magic wand hits the three fey-orc that Toros feels the direct and closest threat, trying to finish the badly injured one first. (first missile gives 5 hp damage to O4, which should be enough to drop it, the next three ones give 12 hp damage to O5, which should also be enough to drop conscious the fey-orc, and the last missile 4 hp damage to O6). Then Toros will draw a scroll and get ready for any attack. As much as possible, the Taur will stand close to, but behind Garrett to benefit from his Protector abilities without being in direct contact with the enemy.
Thinking that the ranger himself is not badly hurt afterall Toros asks him about the other friend, as he climbs up the wall: "Nauth, can you see Appolo?"

Seeing the damage that Nauth has taken, Garrett chooses him as the target of his interpose ability. "I got you covered Wunjo" Garrett says to his longtime friend. "Both of you stay within 5 feet of me, and I will make it much harder for them to hit either of you in a moment. Let's bring them all here to us as long as we are able, and give Xenia time."

The fey-orcs are all now screaming about killing the nasty humans and the cat-thing outside the wall. DM JohnP - Didn't notice this before, but it should be 2d10 for the burst. And the extra d6 for flame is still rolled even on a critical.
Toros fires off his wand again, dropping one fey-orc and nearly dropping another. He retrieves a scroll and tries to stay close to Garrett.
Garrett steps into the gate opening and then grows in size. He nearly blocks the doorway after casting the spell. He wants to protect Nauthiz'Ull but the ranger is too far away.
Appolo swings his swords at the fey-orc that earlier hit him. He manages to land both blows but cannot get through the supernaturally tough hide of the fey-orc. Still, the electricity coursing down the blade of one sword damages the fey-orc. DM JohnP - I rolled the damage for the Shocking Burst effect on one weapon

The fey-orcs move to surround Appolo, both to take every advantage they can and to prevent his slipping away. The first fey-orc (O1) barely misses but the second (O9) lands a solid hit. The third (OA) slips behind Appolo and slashes him lightly. The fourth one (OB) moves in and slips as it swings. Having dodged the first attack of the enemy easily with the luck of Wardd, Toros tries to think...
He knows neither what the Lair is like nor how Xenia is doing inside the Lair at the moment, but now having an idea of how the compound is settled and where Appolo could be, Toros gives his first priority to look for the Pirate. However, the entrance is blocked now, and the number of the enemy is increasing second by second inside the compound...
Toros first directs his wand to the location of where Appolo should be in order to get the attention of the Protector and show him where their friends can be "Garrett, we have to find Appolo, he could be trapped on that side." Then the taur uses his wand to show his friends the smoke cloud billowing from the North, "...and we had better watch this smoke too".
For a second, the wemic waits for any response from his friends, in the form of actions or words, in order to determine what he should do next...

It is good to hear from Xenia, and Nauth is dealing with the flying feys, and Toros makes his decision without losing any more time... "Garrett, I am going to bring Appolo.., hope we will be back soon."
Relying on the guarding of Wardd and the Protector, Toros activates his scroll (Reduce Person) and the fey-orc attacking him sees a Taur diminishing in size. Then, the reduced Taur swiftly blends with shadows to retreat (Hide, 21 (4+17), Move silently, 29(12+17)), pass Garrett and Nauth, and climb the wall (50ft movement, natural 20 for climb!, position at 60 AE AF). With four legs the wemic finds it easier to balance his weight (Balance, 24 (15+9)) and starts walking on the wall to the corner... (spot and listen, both 11 (7+4))

After doing so, he stands back to consider his options.
From his vantage point on top of the wall, Nauthiz'Ull spots the two winged fey-kobolds approaching the group. He fires off four arrows but only the first two fly true, the third just barely missing a kobold. Both fey-kobolds crumple with burning arrows sticking from their bodies. DM JohnP - While it wasn't needed this time, you should also roll the d6 fire damage for each hit.
With every side blocked, Appolo concentrates on fighting defensively. DM JohnP - I'm assuming Total Defense, with +4 to AC
Toros decides that he should go rescue Appolo, so he recites the words written on a scroll and shrinks himself down. Despite not taking any efforts to protect himself, the fey-orc cannot hit Toros. The small liontaur now runs to the east and then scales the wall, hidden in the shadows that linger there. Fey-orc OF misses AC 5
Intent on holding the gateway and protecting his friends, Garrett swings his longsword twice at one of the fey-orcs and drives it to the ground. But he's still surrounded by five other fey-orcs.
The smoke is now billowing from the building in the northeast corner of the compound.

The Taur moves on the wall with ease (balance, 23 (12+11)), seeing the smoke and the crowd of the feys at the North East. Appolo should be there.
Coming to a proper position (AQ 60), Toros becomes visible and activates his wand. The magic missiles drops the orc OA (14 hp damage) and injures the kobold K4 (3 hp damage), providing a space for Appolo to retreat.
"Appolo over here," Toros shouts to attract the attention of his friend. He is also ready to warn the Pirate, if any of the feys try to trap him, while he is retreating. Toros is too busy with Appolo now that the wemic cannot respond to Xenia.

Then the Taur lets Nauth knows what Xenia told him about the monsters... Garrett and the ranger should be ready for what is coming next.

Appolo is playing defence when he sees and hears Toros.When the Orc falls he irst Jumps then tumbles past the enemy moving quickly through the gap.Coming up he sprints toward the main gate.{Run Feat Mobility,Dodge Uncanny Dodge and Evasion.

The liontaur triggers his wand and sends Magic Missiles arching towards the fey-creatures. One of the fey-orcs drops and a fey-kobold is badly hurt.
Also up on the wall, Nauthiz'Ull draws back and fires at the two fey-kobolds that are approaching. By doing so, he ignores the fey-orcs that are below him. Each of the fey-kobolds drop to the ground. DM Note: Roll the 1d6 for fire damage. It's not needed for fey-kobolds, but essential for fey-orcs
Garrett concentrates and calls upon his ability to turn or dispel fey. Again, the answering surge of power is different but somehow familiar. Around him, the fey fall to the ground as their fey nature is ripped from them.
The breathing room provided by Toros allows Appolo to get away. He tumbles past the fey-kobold, baring his back to the clumsy fey-orcs. None of them manage to hit him. After finishing his roll, Appolo gets to his feet and sprints towards his companions. He is able to make it into the piles of building materials.

The fey-orcs clustered around Appolo take up the chase but are unable to keep up with the rogue. Other fey-creatures take up the chase.
Fey-orcs A and B charge Garrett, yelling and swinging their falchions. Neither can hit him, even if they are still standing. DM - Garrett, take an AoO if you choose against AC 15 Fey-orc A misses AC 23 Fey-orc B misses AC 7
Fey-kobold K3 runs towards the shrunken Toros and stabs at him with its spear but misses. K3 misses AC 18
More and more of the fey-creatures are appearing from the buildings.

The ranger watches as his wunjo casts aside the fey with ease.
"That is my wunjo! I am going to block them up a bit now."
Nauth reaches a hand towards where the three orcs are currently at, between the building and the wall, and, with palm upwards he wiggles his fingers and some faint sounds of magic spew from his lips. The vegetation begins to writhe and spring forth in life, entangling the orcs. ................................. cast: Entangle on 58AE

Garrett takes his AoO at the orc. AoO (Power attack by 5): Hit AC 23 Damage: 26hp.
Garrett then focus's his remaining swings at the orc still standing before him.
Attack 1(still Power attack by 5): hit 21 ac. Damage: 27hp.
Garrett yells to Nauth. "Nauth, I am clearing the gateway. Let them know that it is clear if they wish to regroup here. If not, then I will head in farther after deal with these others nearby." Garrett smiles at Nauthiz'Ull. "Just like back home eh wunjo? At least these little piggies don't have any Sne Kjempe with them."
With no opponents remaining before him after his first swing, Garrett moves into the compound and prepares to clear the gateway by engaging the group of four to his left.
Garrett moves 20' to R+S/58+59, and prepares to use his 10' reach to start killing fey orcs.

Appolo follows Toros advice adn heads directly fo the waall and Toros,he climbs the wall quickly with the help of his friend and drops down to the otherside.There he rests a bit,still smarting from his wounds.

Toros fires his wand to prevent the feys following Apollo. (hit K7, 9 hp, and O7, 12 hp damage, enough to drop both). Helping the rogue to climb the wall both drop down together to the other side, and the taur takes his healing wand on his other hand to heal Appolo's wounds. The flying kobold attacking him is left to the skillfull hands of Nauth.

Heartened by the ease with which Garrett destroyed the fey-orcs, Nauthiz'Ull decides to block their approach on one side. He invokes a prayer and casts an Entangle spell in front of the nearest building. The trampled grasses and plants inside the compound begin writhing and extending upwards, winding their way around the legs of one fey-orc but the other two manage to evade it ... for now. The spell's area extends up and over the wall and extends outside the compound too. Even the caster is caught within the spell area. Nauthiz'Ull - DC 14 Reflex save to avoid becoming entangled. Half movement even if you're not entangled.
Toros yells some encouragement to Appolo while waiting to help him get away from the fey-creatures.
Garrett easily chopped down both of the fey-orcs that charged him. Seeing that no other fey-orcs are close by, he moves to attack the ones clustered outside the building to the west.
Appolo dodges away from the pursuing fey-creatures, looping around the nearby pile of building materials. He approaches the wall just east of Toros and the fey-kobold. He clambers up and over, resting in the shelter of the wall.
Toros acts to assist Appolo, dropping two of the fey-creatures pursuing him.

The fey-creatures pursuing Appolo keep up the chase, at least to the base of the wall. The fey-orcs are rather clumsy so they simply wait near the base of the wall, waving their swords at Toros.
The fey-kobolds clamber up onto the wall, however, so that Toros is now boxed in. Of course, the cat could simply jump down.
The other fey-creatures detour around the Entangle spell cast by Nauthiz'Ull. One of the fey-orcs begins carefully picking its way through the area. But the other two are trapped.
The fey-orcs near Garrett close with the Protector to do battle. The first gets inside Garrett's swing by making a 5' shift but cannot hit the cleric. The second has to move further, allowing Garrett a chance to swing. Garrett - AoO, please. Maybe make your AoO roll with your post. F misses AC 12 G (if it survives) misses AC 9
The next fey-orc gets a better swing, somehow getting through the Protector's armor and protective magics. It's flachion slices into Garrett. H hits AC 24 (natural 20, threat), not confirmed AC 17, 8 damage
More fey-orcs pour out of the buildings and fey-kobolds are launching themselves through the air.

Nauth watches as the ground grows from his will and recalls a lesson taught to him years prior. The hunt is easy when they prey is slow and dumb.

Speaking the same magical words over again the ranger watches as another patch of ground springs forth to life.
"These things will be held for a while wunjo! Now it is time for Ull'Heimdall to speak!" ................................ cast: Entangle centered on 43V to basically cover the entire area between the two buildings.

Toros heals Appolo for 16 hps with the CMW wand and moves closer to the entrance as suggested.

"And you see, the monsters in the entryway, they haven't been changed yet. It's the ones in the cages off the Throne Room that have had themselves changed by the Power Thingie. So, looks like the Power Thingie is downstairs somewhere."
"I'm gonna try and pick the lock on the cages in the Entryway. If you can, get everyone moving toward the Lair, this has just become more than a snatch and grab. When the monsters start coming out of the Front Door, you can make your break."
