DM Bob and Carla Monday April 17th, 2006 9:33:26 PM
The Chosen of Domi assemble on the wharf as instructed. The tide is out and the Sea Hag is anchored furthest out to sea of all the ships in the harbour. Two small boats soon appear, their rowers making for the party. As they approach, the rowers are recognizable as some of the very same group that partied with the taurs the previous night. A half-orc orders the small crew about and they make quick work of stowing the party's gear on the two boats. The party is divided into two groups, with three Chosen in each of the smaller boats.
The outgoing tide gives speed to the rowers, and the party soon comes round the prow of the small ship, adorned with an intricately carved form of a witch. The ship is a 3-masted Xebec. Her low slung lines and triangular sails are worn and stained by the salt air. The ship looks like it hasn't seen a coat of paint in many a year. The mixed crew of humans, half-elves, elves, and the half-orc, help the taurs aboard, and show them where to stow their gear--six large wooden chests, each with a good lock. The half-orc hands out a net-like affair with metal rings attatched at each end. He looks at Flat-Top and Winterglade with a puzzled look, then shrugging his shoulders, gives them each a hammock as well. "Cap'n will be on deck shortly. Better see 'im 'bout where ye be headin'," he volunteers, and then with a duck of his head, the first mate is gone.
Winterglade Tuesday April 18th, 2006 4:20:33 AM
The centaur chews on the lemon seaweed with an unhappy expression on his face. When handed a hammock, he holds it unrolled in front of him for a moment.
"Yeah, Winterglade has once visited a party in Isumbre where women wore dresses made out of this."
He opens the chest assigned to him and stows most of his gear in it, including his armor, shield and saddlebags.
"Just so that you know, Winterglade can't swim much better than a rock."
When the half-orc shows up he adds: "You will have to handle that navigation stuff without me... The waters look all the same to Winterglade. Threatening."
The centaur closes the lid of his chest with a loud bang and decides to spend the next hour snooping around the ship, both out of curiosity and as a precaution to locate good places to hide in case of a storm. Soon a cheerful song can be heard from below the deck.
"Six dead Taurs on the Sea Hag's deck, Yo ho ho, and Green Gnomish, Leaving port and never coming back, Yo ho ho, and Green Gnomish..."
Flat-top Tuesday April 18th, 2006 8:10:47 AM
Flat-top give the seaweed to Wintergale "Now when we get to the ship and out to sea take one, it will help your stomack!" Flat-top watches his buddy take a little of the seaweed when he got on the row boat.
Now it was Flat-top turn to board the row boat, enjoying the trip to the ship, Flat=top wonders if he could talk to the Captain in painting the ship, He watches the sails and now readies the boarding.
Flat too will put his weapons, armor and personal stuff into the chest, only keeping the Amulet and his tattoos. Now he's trady for work. Untill he is handed a roll of cloth?? He look to Winterglade "Woaen wear this stuff? what is it? A blanket? Oh! by the way, witch wall do want to lean on when we sleep with our blankets??
Coming from the Deck is a song, Flat-top smiles "Oh! what a good luck song! Don't you think? Wintergale as the young center leaves for the deck.
Brahmah Tuesday April 18th, 2006 9:02:24 AM
Brahmah finds the captain and says. "Need to go to the Taur Isles." He says simply. "Yes. I know." He says vaguely. "I hear the rumors too."
"Where are we bunking? We prefer something close to deck."
Brahmah (additionally) Tuesday April 18th, 2006 9:03:01 AM
"... and private." He adds.
Toros Tuesday April 18th, 2006 11:25:56 AM
"Six dead Taurs on the Sea Hag's deck, Yo ho ho, and Green Gnomish, Leaving port and never coming back, Yo ho ho, and Green Gnomish..."
This is a wonderful song, Glade! Toros shows his appreciation in his heartful attempts to contribute to the melody as best as he can.
"Six dead Taurs on the Sea Hag's deck, Yo ho ho, and Green Gnomish, Leaving port and never coming back, Yo ho ho, and Green Gnomish..."
The melody will be whereever the wemic is for some time...
Zeoll Tuesday April 18th, 2006 8:20:43 PM
The liontaur gets ready to go, hammock in hand. He waits for the Captain and wonders if the group will have to work for passage or pay.
"Did we everr worrk out that detail?" he asks.
DM Bob & Carla d3=3 Tuesday April 18th, 2006 10:18:43 PM
"I'm a fair man," volunteers the captain when confirmation is sought regarding fees for passage. "'Tis dangerous waters in dangerous times," he says, looking out to the wide Lotophagi beyond the harbour. "100 GP and stay below decks out of the crew's way, or 50 GP and work the decks. There be no private compartments on the Sea Hag!"
Gesturing to Brahmah to follow, Captain Ross ducks through a low door muttering something about "maps".
(Brahmah, and any who choose to follow him, Reflex Save DC 10, or strike your head against a low beam in the captain's room for 3 pts. dmg. and a nasty lump!)
Winterglade Wednesday April 19th, 2006 4:12:51 AM
"Winterglade will pay one hundred gold." The centaur hands the bag of coins to the captain. "He brought his own work with him; anyway he would be next to useless on the deck."
"Thank you, Flat-top. I hope it will last me the whole journey."
"How long will that nightmare last, again?" The expression on Winterglade's face leaves little doubt that he would like to have the journey end as soon as possible, one way or the other.
Zeoll (-3 hp) d20+11=19 d20+18=35 d20+6=7 Wednesday April 19th, 2006 7:15:21 AM
Zeoll bangs his head hard as he enters the cabin. He glares at the captain as he wipes away a trickle of blood. (Rolled a nat 1 on the save!)
He is even angrier when he hears the price.
"100 gold each or 100 gold total?" asks the liontaur. "The forrmerr might be rreasonable, but the latter would be mad! It would be rrobberry to expect us to pay 100 gold each!"
The liontaur flexes his claws and looks very angry. But in fact (Bluff check 19), he is trying to bargain the captain down.
"You can just turrn arround and set us back on drry land!" the liontaur exclaims. "I wouldn't pay half that to sail in this so-called ship of yourrs, captain!"
Diplomacy check to haggle: 35.
Flat-top Wednesday April 19th, 2006 7:43:34 AM
Flat-top gives fifty gold to Zeoll, "Here's my fair, Zeoll! I'd rather work with the crew than smell the residue that Winterglade might make." He smiles at Zeoll as he follows Brahmah into the captain's cabin, "Watch Out! (BANG!**) Oh! It's too late to tell you to look out for that beam! This ship is not made for Taurs."
Brahmah d20+10=19 Wednesday April 19th, 2006 12:04:10 PM
(Reflex 19)
Being used to human sized ships, Brahmha deftly avoids hitting his head and his horns don't even scrape the ceiling.
"Several of us can work the decks, but most aren't surefooted on the decks of ships. Please allow the wemic to stay below? Flat-top and I were professionals. I once served on the Nightengale. It was a 'merchant ship' too." He grins. "I'll pay for the group. 50 gold you say? We can do repairs if you like, but that'll cost you." He winks at the Captain.
DM Bob and Carla Wednesday April 19th, 2006 11:42:48 PM
"100 GP each! Now thar' be an idea!" pronounces the gruff captain scratching at the stubble on his chin, his glass eye staring wildly off to one side. "Like I says, I be fair and square. 60 GP and those that be able bodied works with the crew." Bringing his good eye close to Zeoll's angry puss he laughs, "and the rest goes below decks and prays for us sinners!"
Moving around a table in the center of the small room, Captain Ross smoothes out a scroll of parchment on it's surface so that Brahmah can see it. Using a candlestick holder and a heavy metal compass to hold down the curling edges of the simple map, he stabs his finger to the left of the Lotophagi Ocean in the general area of the King's Channel below the Bay of Elenna. The map is not nearly as detailed as the one held in secret by the Chosen of Domi. "Which one?" he asks, "this 'ere Minotaur Island? 'Bout three days if the weather is fair and thar be no diversions!"
Winterglade doesn't stick around, but quickly finds a quiet spot below decks. The ship rocks on the light outward current, tugging gently at it's anchor. Flat-Top happily returns to the deck, where the first mate hands him a large, soft cloth and a tin of polish. The warm salt air plays with the centaur's mane.
Toros Thursday April 20th, 2006 12:14:25 AM
Already doing some stuff with the staff on the board, Toros does not ask for money for helping the crew on the deck, or did he mis-understand something again, this time about the golds to be paid to the Chosen!!??
Winterglade d20+1=17 Thursday April 20th, 2006 5:01:57 AM
Winterglade, enjoying the last moments of relative stability while the ship is still anchored, makes his own entertainment. At the moment he is conversing casually with two sailors, large half-orcs.
"...Winterglade kids you not. Rats are a tasty treat for them, no difference here between cat and wemic. If you have trouble with rodents below deck, then our Zeoll over there is your cat-man." [Bluff 17]
Zeoll Thursday April 20th, 2006 7:14:06 AM
Zeoll pretends to grumble, but underneath, he feels that his haggling accomplished something.
"Herre's yourr 60 gold, you old sea dog! Arrrgh! Well, at least I'll have some time to worrk on my cloak."
Zeoll casts Comp Lang and Read Magic and looks at the captain's map. He indicates the place the group wants to go. [OOC: Shipwreck Shoals, right?]
Flat-top Thursday April 20th, 2006 8:22:48 AM
Flat-top takes the rags and the can of polish, "Ah! Yes! Spit and polish. I Also if you need mending I'm also a fair smithy!"
Flat-top is on his way to polish anything that can shine, First the ship Bell, He goes to work on washing then rubbing the polish on the bell, and rubbing it {with the rag) to a high shine. (He had not forgotten his First mate yelling at him "Both outside and inside, Scrubbie!") Ahh! Those were the good old days. As he polished the bell in side and out side.
Brahmah Thursday April 20th, 2006 10:59:57 AM
Brahmah nods, understanding the rough map.
Gecktar Thursday April 20th, 2006 6:57:55 PM
Gecktar as no skill to offer to the crew. And they seems sufficiently trained... He looks at the far coast hoping the journey will be without problems.
DM Bob & Carla Thursday April 20th, 2006 11:37:42 PM
The fare is settled at 60 GP (OOC: each player subtracts 10 GP from total wealth) with those who enjoy the salt air heading topside. The crew are friendly, and soon there is singing as the anchor is weighed and the captain sets a course for the King's ChannelFlat-Top's hard work and genial ways make him a favourite with the crew. Toros also attends to his chores, having been provided with a large needle and course thread, and a worn sail to mend. Captain Ross invites Brahmah to take the great wheel. The sun shines brightly in a blue sky, and the light wind if favourable to the Sea Hag.
Below decks, Winterglade spins a yarn to a gullible audience. The two crewmen stare in horror and awe as Zeoll joins the newest member of the Chosen. When Gecktar seeks out his companions, the crew members depart to join theirs. With Gecktar available, Zeoll might consider working on his wonderful cloak, but (Due to bad light, rocking boat, and cramped space, a Concentration Check vs DC 15 is required to be successful at any activity being undertaken by those below decks.)
(OOC: Please post how you spend the day, up to sundown.)
Winterglade Friday April 21st, 2006 1:54:51 AM
Winterglade finds himself a quiet corner below the deck where he won't be distracted by the activities of the crew. Then he opens his saddlebags and retrieves a large bit of high-quality cloth, a ball of black thread, and a shiny, new needle.
"Well, then, this will be something new for me, no?"
He spends the rest of the day industriously jabbing at the cloth with his needle. Every now and then tiny blue sparks fly from under his fingers, suggesting that more than mere housework is going on. In the evening the centaur takes a final glance at his new creation - a cloak - and then flods it and puts in his chest.
[Take 10 on Concentration: 21. Crafted a Cloak of Comfort.]
Gecktar Friday April 21st, 2006 3:23:20 AM
Gecktar join Zeoll and asks him if he still needs help for his cloak. If yes he will cast the requiered spell to help his friend.
After that he will observe his shield and begin to think what can be done to enhance its protective ability.
(Take 10 on concentration: 21)
Brahmah Friday April 21st, 2006 5:45:02 AM
As a deckhand, Brahmah really never learned to navigate, but he takes the wheel for several hours.
For the most part, he'll steer clear of the crew if possible, but will do his best to be polite.
When he starts getting bored with the wheel, he'll hand it back to the Captain and then head to the side of the ship watching the sea pass under them.
Flat-top d20+4=24 Friday April 21st, 2006 8:04:49 AM
After the polishing every thing that needed polishing, it was time to leave port, So the centaur takes the ent od the ancher line (Or chain) with all his strenth (24 natural twenty) will help way ancher then stow it away (tie it down or side of deck).
The rest of the day ask if he would mend some ropes, Flat-top will take some long dowel sticks and mend some ropes for the rest of the day.
At days end and after eating, he'll either go down to where the rest of the taurs are, pick up the cloth that the first mate gave him, throw it over his shoulders and body, then lean on a wall and go to sleep.
Or If ask to keep watch, he'll take part of the night watch and then go down to the Taurs to sleep.
Zeoll Friday April 21st, 2006 10:38:31 PM
Zeoll sheepishly hands over his 10 gold. He still thought the captain meant 60 each.
Oh well.
He spends the day working on his cloak. His concentration (taking ten) is a 18. He thanks Gecktar very much for the help.
Toros Sunday April 23rd, 2006 1:45:06 AM
Toros takes his time to mend the sail, meanwhile chatting with the crew and Flat-top. He goes down to check how his friends are doing for a couple of times. Getting to know most of them during the work, in the evening he thinks to get drunk with the crew, and talk about issues that would not be proper to talk in other times... some private pirate stories, gossipping about captain, girls, saving the Wold etc...
DM Bob and Carla Sunday April 23rd, 2006 11:42:26 PM
Winterglade and Zeoll make the best of their time below decks. Gecktar joins them, and provides the magic required by the wemic.
Brahmah takes a turn at the wheel and does a commendable job, until he is relieved by Captain Ross. Toros and Flat-Top apply themselves to the tasks at hand, and thus endear themselves to the crew.
Meals are hurried affairs, with rations of bread and cheese handed out, and taken where folks are working at the time. At sundown, Flat-Top and Toros are invited to join the captain and the crew for a tot of rum 'round the main mast. Flat-Top is assigned a watch early in the evening, and is able to get a good night's sleep. Smooth sailing ensures that even Winterglade sleeps well. Only Zeoll is plagued by nightmares of Vargas, wielding a black sword of doom. The dark taur opens his mouth to laugh and spews flames.
In the morning, the sun is slow to rise, sitting heavy and red at the edge of the dark sea.
Gecktar Monday April 24th, 2006 3:06:21 AM
Gecktar always loved dawn at sea. Waking early in the morning, he goes on the deck to admire the rising sun.
Fully refreshed by the sight he tries to find a place where he culd pray Domi an prepares himself for the day.
Winterglade Monday April 24th, 2006 5:13:57 AM
Winterglade emerges from below the deck, still half asleep, stretches, yawns, puts his right legs over the railing and jumps overboard.
There is no splash.
Soon the centaur can be seen galloping away from the ship, his hooves leaving tiny splashes on the rolling surface of the ocean like a startled school of flying fish [Water Walk].
Winterglade is back in about an hour, his morning run complete [standard selection of spells, but Water Walk in all 3rd level slots]. With some effort and help of two ropes he climbs back to the deck.
"One would think the ocean and the Great Plain have nothing in common, and yet there is a similarity. Something about the horizon all around you makes you aware that your whole life is in your hands, ready to be shaped as you see fit, ready to be taken in any direction. One finds strength in such solitude."
"Not that you folks crowded below decks with Shiver Me Timber mob would have a chance to notice, though."
Toros Monday April 24th, 2006 5:24:19 AM
With his meditation at dawn, Toros receives a great enlightmenent, regarding a concern that has been keeping his mind busy for a long time. Thanks to Domi (and PTB) finally, he has got the missing piece and here it is: A new spell that he would call Taur's Try. He quickly tries the spell on himself, and seeing it works very well, he runs to show it to his friends. The sleepy Taurs may find this mood of their friend a bit strange, but Toros believes that the Chosen will share his enthusiasm.
The wemic will teach how to cast the spell to any Chosen that wants to learn. He hopes this spell will be a token of gratitude to all who have been trying their best for the unification of Taur races (and creation of the new Taur rules)

And, thank you so much Cayzle for your help!!
Zeoll d20+7=16 Monday April 24th, 2006 7:50:57 AM
Zeoll congratulates Toros and is eager to learn the new spell.
When he sees the dawn's red sky, he tries to recall the bit of folk-lore verse that he heard once. "Is it Rred sky take warrning? Sailor's delight? Night is a frright?" Bard Lore check 16.
Speaking of fright, the liontaur worries about getting to Vargas in time. "We need to go fasterr," he confides to Brrahmah. "Time is shorrt, I think."
He ponders calling water elementals to help speed the boat, but they would not last long enough to make a difference. And although he knows the tongues of air and earth creatures, he has not yet mastered the language of water. Soon, though, he thinks he will master it.
Shrugging off these worries, with good Gecktar's help, he continues to work on his cloak.
Flat-top Monday April 24th, 2006 8:34:16 AM
Flat-top stays with the crew and the Good Captain Russ, Flat-top sing a see song, BUT found out that he can dance much better than singing.
He made his watch with out any danger, watch over Flat-top is ready for a good Nap!, Sleep until early Morning, When the watch call out "Center Over Board!"
Flat- top rushes on deck, slides to the railing, Look out to sea. It was only Winterglade galloping around on top of the water. "Oh! That's only our Magic User, He's only taking his morning Excersise. I'll help pull him in when he's done running around the Ship."
When Toros slide next to Flat-top's side, He Tell's the center about This Spell of his and want to share it with his friends, "That's Great! Toros! Thank-you for the spell, I hope that someday I can Save your life with it. Now Help Me With Winterglade!"
Brahmah Monday April 24th, 2006 10:25:20 AM
Brahmah takes anyone who hasn't had their tattoo done and works on it. He spends time on details.
DM Bob and Carla Monday April 24th, 2006 9:47:38 PM
Although knowledge of the sea if not Zeoll's forte, the wemic bard has spent enough time in coastal communities to have heard the oft quoated adage; "Red sea at night, sailors' delight. Red sea in the morning, sailors take warning." As if to echo his thoughts, the half-orc second in command mutters,
"Like a red morn that ever yet betokened, Wreck to the seaman, tempest to the field, Sorrow to the shepherds, woe unto the birds, Gusts and foul flaws to herdmen and to herds,"*
under his breath.
Unaware of the meaning of the bloody sun, Winterglade goes for a magic inspired run across the glossy water as Gecktar admires the morning. Flat-Top offers a hand to his centaur friend, asking those about to also lend a hand at landing a rather large catch.
Toros shares some newly gained insight with his companions, rejoicing in a new closeness an old and deep magic provides.
(Sense Motive Check DC 18 Highlight to display spoiler: { to pick up an uneasiness amongst the crew as they cast worried looks at the ominous sunrise.} Zeoll, Brahmah, and anyone else Concentration Check vs DC 15 is required to be successful at any activity being undertaken on board the Sea Hag.)
The crew go about their usual business, as Captain Ross studies the sky.

Zeoll d20+8=13 d20+20=38 d20+15=16 Monday April 24th, 2006 11:32:35 PM
Sense Motive 13 for Zeoll.
He tells his friends about the little rhyme he once heard warning of bad sailing after a red dawn. Having been warned by his bardic lore, Zeoll turns to his druid side and tries to get a taste for how the weather will turn (Survival check to predict the weather, assisted by a Guidance and a brand new Taur's Try spell (+2 Survival cast spontaneously as a bard): a natural one! Alas, Zeoll's intuition fails him!)
Zeoll approaches the half orc and compliments him on his verse. The bard asks where he learned it, or if he created it. [Diplomacy 38]
The liontaur spends the day working on his cloak (Take ten ont he concentration check is an 18).
Flat-top d20=20 d20=15 Tuesday April 25th, 2006 8:46:46 AM
Flat-top knows the meaning of a Red Sunrise, After pulling Wintergale on board, Flat-top tell him "Get down and lash yourself to any thing sturdy! That red sunrise means a strom is heading our way! Oh! and take the seaweed for your stomack!"
He then turns to Toros, "We're in for a bad storm, Pal. Look at that Red sunrise, it will be here soon.
"Captain Brahmah! Are we finist with the Tattoo? A bad strom is ion the way!" Flat-top ask.
Flat-top knows that the crew is uneasy, but things has to be done before the storm hits. He'll help as much as he can, then he'll look fo a place to lash himself on (like a mash or something sturdy)
Winterglade d20+4=18 Tuesday April 25th, 2006 8:51:55 AM
[Sense Motive 18].
The centaur is visibly excited over the new spell and learns it with enthusiasm. A moment later his good mood is shattered.
"What is that thing Winterglade hears about red sun? Is the storm coming? I knew it, just my luck."
Just to take his mind off the possible danger, he hides himself below decks. About half an hour later he emerges with a large package. On the bottom of it is his shield, and to that he tied a sack and a large plank of wood [assuming he can find one].
"Winterglade is too attached to his armor and shield to risk losing it in case of a shipwreck. He has put his belongings in the sack. At least they will not sink now."
He spends the rest of the morning and the afternoon, too, working on another Cloak of Comfort [Take10 on Concentration: 21].

Gecktar d20+6=13 Tuesday April 25th, 2006 6:56:28 PM
Gecktar will help Zeoll to craft his cloak if necessary. (take 10 on concetration DC21) He doesn't notice anything about the mood of the crew
DM Bob and Carla Wednesday April 26th, 2006 1:14:59 AM
The sun rises, and moves across the sky, its red tinge turning to a coppery orange. Grey clouds trail behind the angry orb, like a cape behind a rider. The wind picks up, and the choppy waves take on the grey colour of the sky.
Flat-Top picks up on the unease in the crew and advises his friends. Winterglade takes some precautions hoping to ensure the safety of his gear. Gecktar follows Zeoll below decks after the later enquires as to the provenance of the first mate's rhyme. "Jus' somethin' I picked up from a wench in Vandiset. Said she was an actress, but she was waitin' tables at the Golden Cup." Later, the wemic works quietly below decks with the minotaur in attendance.
The captain of the Chosen becomes convinced that there will be stormy weathr before the day is out, however, he can not tell if the Sea Hag will be able to outrun the storm.
As the day proceeds, the swells grow in height. Fortitude DC 12 against sea sickness (feel ill at ease, stomach queasy, unable to complete any projects or be of use, but not fully sick...yet.)
Winterglade d20+7=12 Wednesday April 26th, 2006 5:43:44 AM
[Fortitude 12]
The centaur's sour mood increases with the size of the waves. Just before noon Winterglade finds himself a nest at the very bottom of the ship, among the ballast, where the rocking of the ocean is a bit more gentle, and refuses to move. The normally chatty centaur is now silent; the only sound coming from his hiding place is a furious chewing on the weed from Flat-top. [Was he able to complete his work?]
Zeoll (Seasick) d20+3=4 Wednesday April 26th, 2006 5:52:32 AM
Zeoll, who is not usually so bothered by sea travel, finds himself miserable -- just miserable (rolled a nat 1 on the save!). All he can do is lay down and moan. He is just glad that he has not heaved up his guts ... yet!
Flat-top d20+8=16 Wednesday April 26th, 2006 7:10:08 AM
Flat-top will stay on deck, checking the ropes, watching the mast, looking for trouble with the sails, lashing down anyting that can move. Hoping the Neptun is not going to play with this ship, or send them down to Dave Jones.
Flat-top helps the crew as much as he can, but will tell them that if the storm get any worst, they'll have to either lash them selves to something solid or go down below.
Now Flat-top will tie his body with a rope, then to a mast. But with a leash of five feet for now. Later he migh have to shorten that leash.
Gecktar d20+9=15 d20+8=17 Wednesday April 26th, 2006 12:12:33 PM
Gecktar is not particulary at ease with this weather but not affected as Zeoll can be. He tries to find something to help his friend (Heal DC17).
Brahmah d20+12=32 Wednesday April 26th, 2006 2:02:23 PM
Brahmah smiles at Glade's plight. "Well, friend, you'll get your sea legs yet... four of them even." ;) (WOW! Nat 20 for 32 fort save!!! One stable sailor!)
Toros d20+11=16 Wednesday April 26th, 2006 8:33:04 PM
Toros, coming from a oversear merchant community is not so much troubled with the sitauation of the ship and weather yet and continues to do what needs to be done as normal.
DM Bob & Carla d3=2 Wednesday April 26th, 2006 9:42:08 PM Brahmah takes note of Winterglade's retreat, but he, Toros, and Flat-Top remain on deck with those of the crew who don't succumb to sea-sickness. The wind blows roughly through fur and mane, but the two manage to prove themselves useful as they stow loose gear, tie down items that are too big to stow, and with guidance from the crew, manage the large triangular sails. Contrary to what might be expected, the xebec makes good time, and in the right direction, although it appears the storm may overtake them.
Below decks, Zeoll reacts uncharacteristically to the pitch and roll of the boat. Curled up in misery, he abandons work on his masterpiece. The sick wemic is tended gently by Gecktar, who feels his companion's discomfort acutely. In the bowels of the vessel, Winterglade waits nervously. Hastily he puts the finishing touches on another cloak.
Things don't get any better as the day wears on. The water takes on a sick greenish tinge and the Sea Hag is buffetted violently by wind and waves.

Zeoll (Con 7 of 9) d20+3=7 Wednesday April 26th, 2006 10:49:49 PM
Zeoll gets worse! He empties his stomach into the bilge and then suffers the dry heaves when there is nothing left to toss! The weather and seasickness take a painful toll on him.
Winterglade d20+7=16 Thursday April 27th, 2006 4:13:41 AM
[Fortitude 16]
<Groan>
Winterglade is lying down on the cold, wet planks of the ship's underdeck, his eyes closed, his hands on his stomach.
<Burp> "Sormweaver's Silver Hoof this journey is!-"
There is a moment of silence broken occasionally by a grunt and soft moaning.
"Ouch, this is getting really bad, and the storm is just opening up. Were he not a centaur, Winterglade would start crying like a little girl."

Flat -top d20+8=26 Thursday April 27th, 2006 9:32:55 AM
As thing get roughfer, Flat-top tries to help the sailors down the hatch, telling them "If you sick then your not much good in working,, So go down and settle your stomic!"
He goes to the mast, starting to lash himselg in. "I hope we stay ahead of that storm!" then he prays "Domi! Hear me! Help your chosen!"
Gecktar d20+9=10 Thursday April 27th, 2006 12:18:08 PM
Gecktar's heart is trying to get out of his chest taking his stomac with it... Sick as the weather worsen he tries to sleep inside the boat but soon realizes that it's even worse than being outdoor.
He decides to stay outside
Toros d20+11=17 Thursday April 27th, 2006 2:21:46 PM
Maintaining his composure, Toros stays where he is needed most, either on the deck helping the sailors or inside the cabin trying to make the sick Chosen feel better.
DM Bob & Carla d6=5 Friday April 28th, 2006 12:18:19 AM Zeoll succumbs to full fledged sea sickness. Witnessing his friend's discomfort, the bad smells in tight quarters, and the vigorous pitching of the boat sends Gecktar topside where he seeks a place to be sick. Brahmah watches with sympathy, while Toros and Flat-Top work at a feverish pitch alongside the crew of the Sea Hag.
Winterglade is able to stave off the motion sickness, but his dislike of the mode of travel sends him to the bowels of the boat, where he gives in to his distress.
The burning orb drags the ominous storm clouds behind it and soon the sky is so dark it is hard to tell if it is day or night. The wind no longer blows east to west, but seems to come from all the cardinal points at once. Those of the crew that are not incapacitated by sea sickness work alongside the taurs to take down the sails and tie them up as tightly as possible. Prayers to Domi, are uttered by elf, human, and taur alike.
A cry from a skinny elf clinging two-thirds of the way up the middle mast draws attention to a large wave bearing down on the xebec. With little time to react by the Chosen the Sea Hag is hit broadside.
If tied off or holding onto something, you must make a Use Rope DC 15 or Strength DC 12 check to avoid damage. Otherwise (or if you fail the check above) Dex DC 15 or be thrown against the sides of the boat or to the deck for 5 pts. dmg.

Zeoll, too sick by far to keep his balance, falls against a bulkhead when the boat is rocked by the great wave (Reflex Save 9). The liontaur hits his head -- blood flows from a scalp wound. Now the smell of yet another bodily fluid pervades this already reeking portion of the hold.
Zeoll lays on the floor, moaning. He tries to get up and back into his hammock, at least -- and summons up enough concentration to achieve that (Concentration 24). Encouraged by one small victory, he tries to cast Cure Minor Wound to close the cut on his head, but alas, the effort is too much, and he collapses into the hammock, spell wasted (Concentration check 11).
Spells cast today: CMrW, Guidance, Taur's Try
Winterglade 46(51) d20+5=13 d8+5=8 d8+11=13 Friday April 28th, 2006 6:14:17 AM
With an almighty crash the body of the centaur is hurled into the side of the ship. There is a sound of wood breaking and a cloud of flour from a sack that got accidentally ripped open [Reflex save 13].
<Cough, cough>
"Winterglade wants out of this hell-hole!"
The centaur unentangles himself from the debris and approaches Zeoll, his legs supporting him uneasily.
"This one's in bad shape. Can you hear me, fuzball?"
Winterglade administers what aid he can under the adverse conditions [CLW over Bless, heals 8 hp, Concentration 13].
"Gecktar, any of them getting hurt on deck are yours, 'cause Winterglade is NOT GOING UP THERE!"
Flat-top d20+4=13 d20+3=16 d20+2=15 Friday April 28th, 2006 7:25:20 AM
Flat-top is about to help with the sail, when the wave hits, Thank goodness he's tied to a rope and his strenth keeps him from going over-board (str - 13 - rope - 16), he's about to go back to work when some thing hit his body? He quickly grabs and look at what it is (dex - 15)
It's the elf that warn them of the wave, Flat-top smiles at the Elf, yelling over the noist of the strom "Domi has smiled at you just now!" They both will try to go back to work is the ship is not too badly damaged.

Growing complacent of the ship to the point of distraction, Brahmah finds himself under a mass of rope and lumber. "Ouch!" Embarrassed, he stands and looks at the rigging. "Um, seems that the ship has seen better days."
He moves to help with the ship, rather than watching everyone. (Pro sailor 18) He ribs ache from the crate that hit him. Pulling a nail from his side, he continues to move around the ship, securing items down and boxing up non-essentials.
(Knowledge nature 15) Is this storm unnaturally strong or is it simply what should be expected this season?
He just notices that his golden eagle hasn't been seen for a VERY long time! He begins to worry. In this storm, even a dedicated bird like Pah'caw could get lost.
Toros d20=7 Friday April 28th, 2006 1:11:39 PM
The wave and following swing at the deck is a good reminder to find a good place to hold tight. There is some pain in his arm but he does not have time to worry about that (-5 hp). The storm will end at the end, but when!? And it seems there is yet to come...
Flat-top d20+3=17 d20+4=17 d20+2=7 Saturday April 29th, 2006 9:19:54 AM
Flat-top is lashing down some fresh water barrels (Rope 17), he has to use all of his strenth to secure thos water barrels. Another big wave hits the ship and Flat-top slides on hind butt(Dex 7) all the way into Brahmah, "Opps!" Flat-top tells Brahmah, "This storm is not natural! Do you think the our dear High Clerics are behind this storm? I do!"

DM Bob and Carla d6=5 Sunday April 30th, 2006 10:14:22 PM
Below decks a sea sick Zeoll takes a beating while the distraught Winterglade doesn't fare much better. The centaur manages to pull himself over to the wemic in an attempt to cure his hurts.
Above decks a courageous Flat-top manages to tie himself off and keep all four feet steady. Looking up just in time to witness the Sea Hag's look-out come tumbling from his post, the centaur deftly saves him from smashing onto the deck. Bramah and Toros fare no better than their companions below, as they are dashed to the floor amidst heaps of tumbling sail and rope. Brahmah senses nothing unnatural about the storm, but it does seem be more violent than he has ever experienced before.
Another wave rocks the boat. (If tied off or holding onto something, you must make a Use Rope DC 15 or Strength DC 12 check to avoid damage. Otherwise (or if you fail the check above) Dex DC 15 or be thrown down again for 5 dmg.)
Lightening branches across the sky, followed by the booming of thunder. (Spot DC 12 to Highlight to display spoiler: { see a rocky reef just off the bow.)}

Winterglade 41(51) d20+5=8 Monday May 1st, 2006 8:21:15 AM
[Reflex 8]
Crash!
The cetaur is thrown into the thin wooden wall separating the compartments below deck. Winterglade leaves a centaur-shaped hole in it.
"Hell's blazes! A storm straight out of Koshe-Marr it is! Never in his life did Winterglade feel so helpless!"
The centaur looks around. He's no shipwright, so the broken planks of wood tell him nothing about the extent of devastation done by his weight being tossed about. He feverently hopes there has been no structural damage.
There are wounds to be tended to, but as long as the ship is tumbling about every attempt to move is an exposure to even greater injury. Winterglade looks around trying to see if there are any sailors about who look seriously hurt. Assuming he sees nobody requiring immediate healing, he lodges himself firmly in one of the doorframes and holds to a wooden beam with all his strength.
"Zeoll! If you get so hurt you'll think you're 'bout to keel over, you give me a shout! Otherwise Winterglade is staying put!"

Just staying upright, Brahmah sees, to his horror a jet of reef just above the water. "Reef off the bow! Captain, the reef!!!" Not sure weather the ship can handle hitting a reef; not many ships can, the ranger moves fast and prepares for collision. He hopes the wheelman can turn in time.
Toros (-5 hp from the first wave) d20=18 Monday May 1st, 2006 2:10:05 PM
Learning his lesson from the first wave, Toros holds his ground firmly for the following one (d20, 18). His ears and eyes wide-open upon the call of Brahmah for the reef. While the Captain of the Chosen and others do their best for the safety of the ship, where is that supposed-to-be the Captain of the Sea Hag !! Now this is a worried wemic, hoping Domi will save all.

Shaking off his head he sees another one coming brodside of the ship but this time the wave roll him form one side of the ship to the other.
Standing up as he can and still stunned, he reaches the mast and try to take a grip on it.

DM Bob and Carla 2d6(4+1)=5 Monday May 1st, 2006 11:43:03 PM
Flat-Top and Brahmah call out warnings as Toros and Gecktar prepare for possible impact with the jagged reef. Another branch of lightening shows the Chosen on deck that all hands are working to clear the debris and keep the Sea Hag right side up.
"By the Powers, but the black spot is upon us if'n we don't clear those reefs!" volunteers a white faced Captain Ross, as assisted by the half orc first mate, he fights with the great wheel that controls the rudder and manages to steer a course that parallels the reef.
There is a creaking and a groaning, and the little elf look-out points upward just as a spar breaks off the main mast and comes crashing to the deck. (Flat-Top, Brahmah, Gectar, Toros, please make a Dex Check 14 to take half damage (2 vs 5) from falling debris.)
Alone in the bowels of the ship, Zeoll and Winterglade share their misery.
Gecktar hp-7 d20+2=22 Tuesday May 2nd, 2006 3:53:05 AM
In an instinctive move, Gecktar avoids a large bunch of wood that nearly hit is head. Only small debris hit him in his face but nothing hard as he manages to close his eyes and protect it with his raised arm.
Winterglade 41(51) d20+4=8 Tuesday May 2nd, 2006 6:56:50 AM
[Listen 8]
Unable to hear the warning shouts coming from above over the roaring of the storm, Winterglade remains unaware of the approaching danger. He holds to the beam of wood with all his might, his knuckles going white; his eyes are tightly shut.
"Brawler! You should've chosen a triton for this quest, not me! WINTERGLADE! HATES! SEA! TRAVEL!"
Flat-top (AC 23 86/96 HP) d20+3=7 d4+1=5 Tuesday May 2nd, 2006 7:55:42 AM
Flat-top is tied to the mast, heputs his hand to his temple to see how badly his wound is, when the Elf points up to something coming down? That mean trouble! Flat-top tries to quickly untie the ropes, but too late. He gets allot of debris hit him on most of his body. For 5hp of damages.
Brahmah (hps 86/93) d20+2=15 Tuesday May 2nd, 2006 10:09:21 AM
Still upright, dodging a small crate which still hits him in the shin, the ranger starts stacking the sails back into their crates. (OOC: I'm assuming no right-minded captain would be sailing with sails aloft in this weather!) Sails are NOT something we need sliding around the deck or blowing away into the water for that matter. He thinks to himself. When the sails are stowed, he cuts any over tight rigging and chucks overboard any broken crates or bits of debris.
Toros (-7 hp) d20=18 Tuesday May 2nd, 2006 10:14:13 PM
Toros manages to dodge most of the damage of the debris (-2 hp damage), left wondering how long will this terrible storm last.
OOC: Bob and Carla, this is a great storm, well-done! I mean well-doing :-b
DM Bob and Carla Tuesday May 2nd, 2006 10:14:54 PM
General panic sets in when the little look-out points out to sea at yet another monstrous wave. "Avast!" gasps Captain Ross, "we be for the Shadowlands, by Ward!" The Sea Hag rides the crest of the wave, only to be dashed onto the reefs the captain had struggled so valiantly to avoid. There is just enough time for folks to grab hold of something (Flat-Top, Brahmah, Toros, Gecktar--Strength DC 12) to avoid being swept over the rail.
Below decks Winterglade and Zeoll hear a sickening crunch as the reef punches a hole into the side of the xebec. The boat lurches towards the rocks, then slides down the back side of the wave, revealing the enormous hole below the water line. As water pours in, the centaur and wemic realize their predicament.
(For those washed overboard, Spot Checks please!)

Gecktar hp-7 d20+3=17 d20+3=12 Wednesday May 3rd, 2006 3:18:42 AM
Gecktar is violently knocked down by the next wave and blowed when the ship hurts the reefs. Struggling to stay on board he catches a piece of rope and grip it. (Str check 17)
As he tries to stand up in this torment he looks around to see what really happened when he heard this great crakling noise. (Spot 12)
Winterglade 41(51) d20+4=11 Wednesday May 3rd, 2006 5:58:32 AM
Winterglade manages to hold on to the beam and avoid taking further bruises from the impact. Cold water gushing into the hull of the unfortunate ship manages to quickly shake him out of the shock.
"Zeoll! We're sinking! Let's get out of here!"
Winterglade looks around to see if any sailors have been trapped below decks (but since the whole crew has been working above it's not likely he finds any). Assuming Zeoll needs no assistance getting out of the hold Winterglade snatches up the bundle with his belongings and climbs above.
His first thought when wind hits his face is: where there are reefs there usually is land, too. He strains his eyes to see the land - any land - nearby [Spot 11, low light vision].
Looking around he spots Brahmah in the chaos that has broken out on the deck. He stumbles over to him and grabs his shoulder to get his attention. Shouting to be heard over the roaring wind, he cries: "Captain! There's a hole below water line the size of a barn! We'll need to abandon ship! Winterglade can make twelve people walk on water for ten minutes! If there is no lifeboat we and the six strongest of the crew will have to carry those who are wounded or can't swim! Can you make this sorry lot get their act together? How many of the crew there are still on board?"
"Chosen! Gather round! Winterglade will do magic, but needs you within his touch!"
Zeoll d20+7=21 d20+7=27 d3=1 d20-2=13 Wednesday May 3rd, 2006 7:39:31 AM
Zeoll tries to get a grip. He knows that his life and the lives of his friends are at stake. He concentrates with all his might and casts Speak with Animals. Then, as the waters flood the hold, he casts Summon Nature's Ally II (concentration check 27), calling a Porpoise (rolled a 1 on my 1d3) just outside the boat. The wemic looks around for Winterglade, but the centaur is gone. He had been concentrating so hard he did not hear or see the centaur go.
Grabbing his belongings and hoping Glade is well, Zeoll leaps through the breach and into the water, shouting to his dolphin as he does so, "Help me swim! Please help me swim!"
Untrained swim check with no Str adjustment and -2 racial penalty: 13.

Flat -top d20+4=20 Wednesday May 3rd, 2006 8:19:59 AM
Flat-top is still tied to the broken Mast, with a crash like that the ship got to have a few holes in it.
Flat-top tries to untie the rope around him (str 20), he find it hard to handle and he look to the end of his rope.
There at the end of his rope is Gecktar! And he's holding on for dear life. Flat-top will pull the minotaur next to this bleeding centaur. "It's OK! Gecktar! I got you."
Look on his belt, trying to find his dagger to cut themselves free.

Brahmah stuggles to hear Glade over the seas, but manages to get the idea. "Damn hole! Okay. Get everyone together! Everyone.
Can you give that water walking to six people for 20 minutes? I don't see land!!
Summon up some water creatures too if you can?" He yells.
He grabs his gear. He picks up a bunch of stuff from the deck... rope, belaying pins, grapple hooks and throwing them into a crate, he turns to Zeoll and Glade. "Let's go below to see how bad it is!!" Grabbing the crate of supplies, he meanders below, however briefly, to see what may be done. (Can the hole be mended using spells like mending? Can we push the water out for a few moments to mend a hole? How large is it and is the keel in good shape? Can we even make below?)
Toros d20+4=14 d20+5=13 Wednesday May 3rd, 2006 4:59:30 PM

Realizing it would not be in his best interests to remain below decks, Winterglade scrambles out of the hold. Yelling above the noise of the storm, he informs the captain of the Chosen of the damage below and volunteers his magic. Captain Brahmah attempts to ascertain how bad things really are down below. The quickly rising water below decks convinces him that the ship is in dire peril [Spot vs DC 12 to see the chests containing the Chosen's gear].
Zeoll also recognizes the peril he is in and begins to cast his magic, calling first upon his ability to speak with animals. He then immediately starts a second spell [porpoise comes next round].
The Sea Hag lurches, but Flat Top, Gecktar, Toros, Brahmah, and Winterglade all manage to hang on. Unfortunately, the crew of the Sea Hag are not as fortunate. Flat-Top is able to save the little look-out, and the half-orc first mate and a thick dwarf are able to withstand the battering. Captain Ross and the remainder of his small crew are lost in the dark churning waves.
As if matters couldn't get any worse, lightening zigs across the sky once again, thunder booms overhead, and a driving rain starts to pour from the dark sky. Another wave strikes the ship and she tears free from the reef. Listing to one side, her foremast broken and dragging her sails and rigging, she wallows dangerously alongside the jagged reef.
(All the Chosen need to make Balance vs DC 15 to maintain their footing on the heaving, slippery decks. Anyone abandoning ship must make a Jump vs. DC 10 to clear the ship or take 6 points of damage. If anyone jumps, please make a Spot vs. DC 12 to locate debris on which to cling and a Swim vs. DC 15 to swim towards it. Anyone casting spells will need a Concentration vs DC 15+spell level .)

Winterglade slips and skids. His fingers scrape across the deck as he tries to hold on to something - but in vain. Thankfully the railing stops his sliding before he vanishes into the dark depths of the ocean. A verse from the song he has been singing not so long ago returns to haunt him: "Six dead taurs on the Sea Hag's deck, leaving port and never coming back-"
He scrambles back to his feet and, his voice carried away by the wind, shouts out the incantation of the Water Walk prayer, doing his best to share the spell with as many people nearby as possible [Concentration 25, can affect up to 6 people, not sure how many are within touch range, duration depends on the number of characters affected].

NOW JUMP AGAINST THE WIND!The wind will push you away from the haul."
Flat-top will jump into the water with the barrel(his and Toros Stuff in it). After he's in the water will try to spot (between the lighting flashes) anything to swim toward anything he sees.

"May we have Courage!"
Then without pausing, he tightens his gear and jumps head first off the deck over the side. What looks to be a good swan dive, ends with him crashing HEAD FIRST into a floating piece of mast. After a couple of seconds, he first comes to and grabs the same floating lumber.
