Harvest
Wednesday May 17th, 2006 3:57:07 PM

"Madam Dulcet, if I may speak on a different subject." Harvest stands from Any's side. "We have been to the encampment of Elves, refugees from Parnoth's campaign against them. To our eyes, they appear lacking in food. Worse still, Madam Dulcet," Harvest Moon's voice is high and clear, her eyes shine with forthright intentions, "they appear also lacking in hope."

"Has the Council given consideration to offering them settlements? Or perhaps seeking gainful employment for them?" The black velvet cap dangles in one hand. The crest of brown hair hangs over one eye. "I do not think that it can be healthy for the town of Jarlwolf to have such a camp nearby for a long period of time. There is no right or wrong of it. Only tragedy and misunderstanding."

"Perhaps I could go among the elves and as them what they might wish to do, but I must also have ideas of what they can do. Would the Pitchfork Council help in this?"

Later on at the inn, Harvest sits next to Anthos in her new clothes. Her eyes are far away, teasing at the problem, like worn fingers teasing at a hard weather beaten knot. What to do? How to ensure that children here do not grow up in the same situation that she did?

Any  d20+7=17
Wednesday May 17th, 2006 7:18:10 PM

Any goes with Harvest to the refugee camp. Something must be done here! harvest addresses the issue with Madam Dulcet, but Any is not sure what can be done short of restoring these people to their rightful lands.

He can tell that this issue is weighing heavily on Harvest, as the little monk is very subdued as they sit at their table of the Inn.

Suddenly, Any hears one of the bar patrons remark on Harvest's newly acquired attire. He rises quietly and approaches the individual. Trying his best to be as diploamtic as possible, he asks the man to refrain from speaking of a lady in that manner.

Evidently, the man is not as drunk as Any first thought, for he spins and shoves the Bard away. Not expecting this response, Any's balance fails him, and he goes down hard onto his back.

Throughout the bar is heard a sickening crunch, and although the man has now risen from his seat to continue the fight, Any is paying no attention to him. His face has gone an ashen gray, as he looks down at what was his treasured Lute. He slides the Lute's scabbard from his back, hoping against hope that the damage is not as bad as it first appears. If possible, his face pales another shade as the full realization sets in--the precious Lute is uuterly destroyed.

Arminas (Lyle sub)
Wednesday May 17th, 2006 7:28:44 PM

Arminas spends his days relaxing, working on his sword play, and enjoying the companionship of Ewan. He will visit the shops around to see what is going on, and to see if any have an interesting item which he might need.

He decides to join Any and Harvest at the Inn for dinner, having seen tham enter a short while before. As he enters, he is greeted by the sight of Any standing stunned over a strange pile of kindling. He addresses the bard in a cheery voice,

"Hello friend Any! What's good for supper this evening? What have you been doing?"

He then looks between Any and Harvest with a questioning glance.

Bralin  d20+9=11 d20+9=21
Wednesday May 17th, 2006 9:05:56 PM

Bralin waits in the bar for his comrades, considering what to do about the leadership position of the group.

All too soon, Any gets into his altercation. Seeing the elf lying striken at the loss of his instrument, and that the human intends to continue, Bralin steps into the fray.

He clamps onto the man's collar with a grip of steel. The man has no choice but to stop. Holding the human with his left hand, he turns his head toward Any, obviously waiting for a signal.

Shocking and senseless. How such a little thing can turn to the destruction of a thing of beauty.

Something bright explodes at the back of Harvest Moon's brain. It's hard and sharp, like the shatter of crystal struck at just the right spot.

Fists, knees, and elbows rain down upon the man, blind, missing as often as they strike. Heedless of Bralin Stoneminder holding the man in an unyielding grip, needing only to fight through to some measure of justice, righteousness, equity, a sane order to the Wold. Fighting through the blur of her bitter tears, listening to her own voice hoarse and full of desperate fury, shouting over and over the single word, "Why?"

DM Kathy
Thursday May 18th, 2006 1:25:49 AM

You speak with Dulcet about the conditions in the refugee camps, and she looks troubled. "What you say is not news to me," she says sadly, "but it is good to be reminded that those poor folk suffer day by day. There is some talk of founding a new settlement for them, a town that would be all their own. Where the funding for such an endeavor will come from is a knottier problem."

After your meeting with Dulcet, you repair to an inn to share a meal and a few drinks. Any overhears someone making disparaging remarks about Harvest, and leaps to his lady's defense.

In the ensuing altercation, Any stumbles backward and lands on his beloved lute. The instrument is shattered

Bralin leaps to his friend's defense and collars the attacker, waiting to see what will happen next.

What happens next is a firestorm of fury. Harvest launches herself at the man with devastating effect, landing several punches and kicks.

As Arminas walks in, all unwitting, the man goes limp in Bralin's grasp. Other patrons begin to gather around, protesting.

"Wardd's sake, lady, calm down!"

"Two against one. Cheats!"

"Three, counting the minstrel."

"Hey, slick, do you always let your girl fight your battles for you?"

Nobody makes any overt moves against any of you, but it's pretty clear that your stock has plummeted in this place.

Lorth
Thursday May 18th, 2006 7:42:37 AM

Lorth moves across the room to Harvest and pulls her off, he is totally shocked by her outburst. "Harvest, this is not you", he says. Placing himself between her and the man.
He then gives Any an icy stare, "Just what did you think would happen, confronting someone in a bar. A few slanderous words, which you could of easily ignored, did they really damage you or Harvest? This man is no threat to you, fighting in here, shameful."
Lorth touches the unconscious man and prays to Gargul. (Lay on hands 18 points) He keeps himself between the man and Harvest, and does not ask Bralin to put the man down, lest he try to attack when he awakes.

Harvest
Thursday May 18th, 2006 10:27:07 AM

The brown girl's face is streaked with tears as she collects the shattered remnants of the lute. In silence she holds up the broken remains of the once beautiful instrument for Paladin Lorth to see. In her lip there still remains a quiver, the muscle at the side of her jaw still jumps, taut and restraining.

She turns back to Anthos, his instrument held out like a dead child. The levy of Harvest Moon's restraint bursts its bonds and again silent tears roll down her face to fall like rain from her upturned face.

Any
Thursday May 18th, 2006 6:10:53 PM

Any stands, stricken and unmoving, until Harvest turns and addresses
him, the remnants of his instrument in her hands. Then he seems to awaken with a start, as if from a nightmare, and turns to see what is going on.

"Harvest!"

He gathers the young monk into his arms, then addressing the Paladin--his lips white with barely controlled anger,

"I did not mean for this to come to blows, I only asked this man to
apologize to a lady. Your holier than thou attitude did not need to be added to this situation. You talk as if I attacked him." He calms slightly then continues, "Perhaps we have been in too many battles lately. We are all on edge." Turning to the man he says, "I am sorry,
Lorth is right. I should not have begun this. Let me buy your drinks and food this evening."

So saying, he releases Harvest from his embrace, hands the proprietor 5
gold pieces, and turning, he walks slowly out of the Inn, almost in a
daze, leaving the shattered Lute in Harvests hands.

Arminas (Lyle sub)
Thursday May 18th, 2006 6:12:07 PM

Arminas cannot believe what happens. Everything is calm, then suddenly
A whirlwind strikes across the room! Harvest! He starts to move to stop her when Lorth intervenes. Seeing the attitude of the crowd, he instead fades back into the wall of the Inn, his cloak wrapped about him, his bow coming to his hand under the cloak--just in case.

As things calm down, he quietly moves back out into the room. He still
does not know what really happened. He intends to ask Any, but Any
walks by as if Arminas is not there, and leaves the Inn. Puzzled, he turns back to his friends still nearby.

"What in the name of the creator is going on here?"

Bralin
Thursday May 18th, 2006 7:59:23 PM

Harvest's attack is totally unexpected, and Bralin spends several seconds watching her thrash the human before he realizes he has the man securely in his grasp.

Lorth steps in and brings the man back to consciousness, and Any apologizes.

As the bard and paladin exchange words, Bralin wordlessly hauls the man back to his seat. The reaction of the bar patrons is of little import. His companion was attacked, Bralin went to his aid. By the Stone, the proper outcome would be for the man's companions to come to his aid. And the matter would be resolved by strength of arms.

Instead, everyone merely hurls insults and epitaths at everyone else, friend and foe alike.

An expressionless, albeit bewildered, Bralin returns to his place at the table, sits down, and resumes drinking his ale.

Tis a puzzlement, he thinks.

Harvest (2nd Illegal Post)
Thursday May 18th, 2006 9:44:08 PM

Harvest sniffs at the tide of salty tears.

"Please, Paladin Lorth," she thrusts the shattered lute into his hands, "hold this for us. I will try to mend it later."

Then she races after Anthos, out the door and into the evening air. Running swiftly across the ground, she catches up the the bard and walks quietly at his side for a time. Her hand reaches out, seeking his. And she accompanies in silence, linked by hands and possibly more than hands.

DM Kathy
Friday May 19th, 2006 1:49:44 AM

Any's uncharacteristic flash of temper leaves his companions scrambling in his wake.

Lorth pulls Harvest off the unfortunate bar patron, then heals him of his hurts. The man blinks and looks around, bewildered. "Wha-what happened?" he says.

Bralin leaves the little altercation and returns to his table, reflecting on the strangeness of human ways.

Arminas takes up a watchful position near the door, and keeps an eye out for further trouble.

Harvest bursts into uncharacteristic tears and hands the ruined lute over to Lorth.

Any apologizes and leaves money as recompense, but his mind is clearly elsewhere. He flees the building, with Harvest close behind him.

In the bar, things begin to settle down somewhat. A couple of bar patrons help the man to his feet. "Excitable fellow, ain't he?" the man asks, watching Any leave.

"C'mon, Trun," one of the others says. "You don't want any trouble with his friends. You know." His voice drops and he shoots a sideways glance at you. "Adventurers."

For his part, the innkeeper merely pockets Any's coin and directs one of the barmaids to begin clearing away the mess from the brief struggle. The inn appears to have gone back to normal. Or the closest it's going to come tonight.

Lorth
Friday May 19th, 2006 8:42:24 AM

Lorth gives Any a disappointed look then turns his back on him, "I was born and raised in this town, Anthos." is all he says.

When Harvest hands Lorth the lute he takes it, being sure not to drop any of the pieces. He removes his cloak and wraps it carefully.

Any
Friday May 19th, 2006 5:58:35 PM

Any walks with Harvest in silence for several minutes, then, finding a convenient rock he motions for the two of them to sit down. Once seated he begins to talk, his voice quiet and calm,

"My master helped me to make that Lute almost 20 years ago. It was not magic, but contained much of the spirit of that old man. He and I sang as we shaped each piece. Many words of power were buffed into its surface. He showed me how to make the first set of strings ever put upon it, and we tuned it to his voice. I have carried it with me ever since. When I first saw it broken there on the floor, it was as if he had died all over again, and I felt that MY life would surely follow.

Then I turned around, and you were there, and I realized that my life contains more than just one old man and a Lute. As we have been walking, I've been thinking about what I should do now. I have been recalling a song of power my master taught me once, which I have never used. It is a song of mending, and with it I could repair the Lute. However, I am not sure that I should. Another thing that my master taught me, even as he was dying, was that all things have an end, and a beginning. Perhaps this should be the end of that Lute, and the beginning of a new phase. In reality, I can summon a lute that plays as well as that one, and dispel it when not needed. For that matter, I do not need the Lute at all to make my magic, only the words of power and my voice.

I have felt that this is a type of sign--whether from the gods, my master, or whatever--that my life needs to follow a different path for a while. My music will stay with me of course, but as a companion, not as my whole life. The recent battles have shown me that in order to face the trials the Wold is bringing us lately, I need to improve my neglected skills in battle, and so -- for a while -- I will walk the fighter's path. It has been a minor part of my life before, now it will share equally with the Bard.

Come, let us go in, and see if I can draw out the poison of my over hasty words, and perhaps we can finish our meal."

He smiles as he rises, drawing Harvest up with him into an embrace and a kiss, then leads the way into the Inn.

Arminas (Lyle sub)
Friday May 19th, 2006 6:00:17 PM

Arminas takes a seat with Bralin, and says,

"Tell me what happened here."

He listens to Bralins account, then shakes his head,

"I knew something like this would happen when those two got together. Getting to close to people does tend to cause problems. Now Animals, on the other hand, once you get to know them, are as true as the day is long. Dwarves, I have not figured out yet. They seem to bite as often as some animals, and are harder to get to know."

He grins at Bralin, then excuses himself. Leaving the Inn, he sees Harvest and Any returning, arm in arm. He thinks to himself, 'Ah, she has tamed him, perhaps now he will settle down', and smiling broader, he joins Ewan in the tree for the nights rest.

Bralin
Saturday May 20th, 2006 8:07:53 PM

Tell me what happened here

The dwarf raises an eyebrow at Arminas' command. He remains silent perhaps a moment or two longer than would be expected, but then complies with a terse description of the events.

The elf's comparsion of dwarves to animals earns him the Bralin Cold Stare. Arminas makes another impolite comment, this time about Harvest and Any, and leaves.

HE cannot be leader, Bralin confirms to himself. Andrath has left the group. Mayhap my oath no longer holds?
While the warrior contemplates the happy thought that he may no longer be bound against drawing Arminas' blood, Any and Harvest sit.

Bralin unabashadly looks from one face to the other for several moments before speaking. One would expect he'd talk about the bar fight, but the black bearded dwarf has already set that aside as unimportant.

"We have need of a spokesman," he begins without preamble. "One face, one voice, for the Pitchfork Council to treat with. I would that it be you (he nods to Any).
Again, we have need of a voice in battle. One to coordinate spells and arms for maximum effect. I would that it be me."

Harvest
Sunday May 21st, 2006 12:47:46 AM

"I am content, Anthos," Harvest replies as their lips draw apart, "as long as your path lies along side mine."

"Pasix Mixmindor, the man who cared for my mother and I, once told me that change brings bitter blessings. It is what he told me the day he left, shortly after my mother died."

Harvest Moon draws close to Anthos as they make their way back to the inn. She lays her head against his arm. "But I will keep your lute anyway. If you do not mind. Maybe someday we will mend it. Together."

"But now, I must apologize to that man. It was wrong of me to have harmed him." Her words are calm, yet her hand in his is hard with tension.

They re-enter the inn, and as they make their way to their former table, Harvest Moon's eyes scan the crowd for the face of the man who she had beaten. In her chair, she fidgets, her eyes rising to the room from time to time. It is Bralin Stoneminder who provides a temporary distraction.

"We have not worked this way before, Bralin Stoneminder," she comments. "I understand how such a way can be useful. And I understand that you most likely raise the discussion of such a way as Andrath Silverhand has chosen to follow us no longer. But tell me how is such a thing to work? Do we say nothing, letting Anthos speak our minds for us? Do we refrain from our own action, instead performing those that you direct? I am not sure that I understand, Bralin Stoneminder."

Any [Lyle]
Sunday May 21st, 2006 9:27:22 AM

Any enters the Inn with Harvest. He too searches those around, but the face he is looking for is Lorth. Upon finding him, he leaves Harvests side and approaches the Paladin.

"Lorth, forgive me for my hasty words. Shock was speaking through my voice more than reason. In truth I would not have been here to say such vileness if not for you and the path you have chosen to follow. Again, forgive me."

He bows away, then returns to sit by Harvest as Bralin approaches to speak with the two of them.

"I understand Bralin. This is exactly the way of the troupe. We chose a leader to speak for us, but counciled together what he would speak. No decisions were set to paper, or handshake, no oaths given or taken, untill the group had the chance to hear the proposal and vote. If all agree that I be voice, I also agree.

As for leadership in battle, if there is time to discuss strategy, then by all means I will follow you. You have proven yourself in battle to me--but again all should agree."

DM Kathy
Sunday May 21st, 2006 11:58:50 PM

Any explains the history of the lute, and why its loss was so upsetting to him. Harvest asks to take possession of the broken lute, perhaps to repair it in the future.

The two return to the inn, where the others are still feeling the aftermath of the incident. Bralin and Arminas are once again failing to see eye to eye, and Lorth is disturbed by Any's conduct.

Reunited, the group makes up. Sort of. You still have much to discuss, however, including Bralin's suggestion about new leadership.

[OOC: As long as we are in the Interlude, please feel free to multi-post as your characters discuss things.]

Lorth
Monday May 22nd, 2006 10:20:35 AM

When Any speaks to Lorth he replies, "There is nothing to be forgiven, friend. Let us put it behind us."

He decides not to offer the lute back until asked for it by Harvest, as she asked him to hold it. If asked he will return it.

He then joins his friends who are discusing leadership of the group. "I will abide by whatever the group decides for leadership, although I have some suggestions. Bralin for battle tactics, Harvest for diplomacy, and Anthos for day to day decisions, after of course consulting the rest of us. But Anthos could make the final decision. Things like where we will go, and when we shall go, for example."

Bralin
Monday May 22nd, 2006 10:46:18 AM

Bralin nods in agreement with Lorth and Any, before turning back to Harvest to explain.
"Leaders are not required when groups have time to reach consensus. Leaders are required when time is not available.
In the heat of diplomacy, as in the heat of battle, there will occur pivotal momemnts. Moments which must be dealt with immediately.
It is these moments in which one must command and the rest must obey."

Its a lengthy talk, and Bralin breaks it up by swigging down some more ale.

"Discussion and agreement are preferred, aye. Discussion and arguement may follow the decision, in the privacy of our rooms. But, in the critical moment, one voice must decide.

All groups are aligned thus. Look to the Pitchfork Council as example."

Harvest
Monday May 22nd, 2006 1:12:48 PM

Diplomacy?!? Harvest Moon colors a bright pink at the words from Paladin Lorth. In her mind she considers the times wherein the urgency of the moment has called for her to speak. And yet, to be called upon for such a responsibility ...

Her eyes wander to the faces around the inn, even as Bralin Stoneminder speaks of leadership. It is important. And yet, thoughts of the man she injured still weigh upon her mind. Still, the brown crest of hair that hangs over her forehead bobs as she nods in agreement.

"I understand, Bralin Stoneminder," she says as he completes his discourse. "And ... and I thank you Paladin Lorth ... for your confidence in my skills with diplomacy. But, if it will not offend, I would prefer to stand beside Anthos and watch as he speaks. If you would not mind."

There! The man's face appears in the crowd.

"Please, excuse me." Harvest rises from her seat. "I must apologize to the man who I struck."

Hurrying across the room, she lowers her head before the man.

"Excuse me. My name is Harvest Moon, and I have come to apologize for striking you earlier this evening. It was wrong to have attacked you. I am sorry."

Any
Monday May 22nd, 2006 6:24:47 PM

Any listens as the other give their views on leadership within the group. Then as Harvest rises, his eyes follow here across the room, where she asks forgiveness from the man she attacked. Inside, Any thinks,'He should be apologizing to her', but he acknowledges that this porbably won't happen, and that Harvest felt she must do this, just as Any felt the need to apologize to Lorth. He watches carefully anyway--if the man does not respond as he should, Any is fully willing to pick up the argument where it started before the destruction of his Lute.

His Lute! The loss is still too fresh, but his decision has been made.

"I believe I can help in many diplomatic instances, but again, as Bralin has said, one person should not decide for all except in cases of extreme need for rapid decision."

Having thus spoken, he excuses himself speaking of retiring, then moves quietly up the stairs to the room he and Harvest share.

Arminas (Lyle sub)
Monday May 22nd, 2006 6:26:42 PM

Arminas sleeps through the night, peacefully, relying on the tree, Ewan, and the peace of the village.

OOC I did not know if Kelly would be here to post today. He can change this later if he wants.

DM Kathy
Tuesday May 23rd, 2006 1:07:05 AM

The rest of the evening passes peacefully. You appear to have arrived at a consensus on the leadership issue, and the bar patron, somewhat bewildered, accepts Harvest's apology.

The next day dawns bright and sunny. With no pressing appointments--and no more envoys to rescue--you have the day to do as you like.

[OOC: I want to be sure we're all wrapped up, including Catacombs purchases, before we start the next module. Please let me know if you need more time.]

Any
Tuesday May 23rd, 2006 8:50:21 AM

Any arises early the next morning, he asks Harvest,

"What magics have we expended that we need to replace? I have 1000 GP in gems to contribute to replacing what we might need. You have kept much of this for the group, I was hoping you might know."

He then gives this amount to Harvest and offers to accompany her to the catacombs, as he has a transaction to complete there also.

Lorth
Tuesday May 23rd, 2006 4:10:51 PM

The next morning Lorth visits the blacksmith looking for a well made lance.
(OOC: Masterwork if possible)
He then visits the tanner inquiring about a war saddle for Tobiasz.
(OOC: Let me know if there is any problems getting such things)
After that he heads back to the inn.

Arminas (Lyle sub)
Tuesday May 23rd, 2006 6:12:59 PM

OOC I will post once more for Kelly. I thought he was to be back yesterday.

Arminas wakes in the morning, and goes into the Inn for some breakfast. He brings some tidbits of chicken liver for Ewan. She prefers fresh, but this makes an interesting change. He goes out into the village, hoping to find his former sword instructor. He would like to continue developing his skills in this area. He also wants to go to the Catacombs with the money he has received from Bralin. Perhaps he will go in the morning, or later today.

Bralin
Tuesday May 23rd, 2006 8:21:05 PM

After giving everyone their share of the spoils, Bralin goes back to the Catacombs. When he returns, the dwarf has a couple major upgrades.

The warrior has turned in his breastplate, and is encased head to toe in full platemail. It is black, of course. Only his round nose and twin-forked beard can be seen beneath the round helm he wears on his head. If possible, the armor is nearly twice as loud as his previous set.

Additionally, Bralin has grown weary of riding around on a donkey. He presents the group with a dappled grey warhorse whom he introduces as "Granite". While not nearly as large as Tobiasz, the sturdy steed has good lines and should serve well.

"Tis time for our next quest," he states.

Any
Tuesday May 23rd, 2006 9:09:28 PM

Any admires Bralin's new set of Armor, then turns and looks at his horse.

"An admirable choice of steed. Put next to Moonshadow, they will look like bookends. I am glad for you. I hope Granite serves you as well as my friend has me."

Harvest
Tuesday May 23rd, 2006 10:07:28 PM

"There are not many things, Anthos." Harvest Moon steps from the bath, pink and bare. "The scroll of Web should be replaced. The scroll to Purge Invisibility. Perhaps another of Silence." She wraps a towel about herself. Harvest reflects upon the smell of the towels at this inn smell. They smell fresh, like the sunshine. Standing in only a towel, she looks through her haversack.

"I do not think there are many more things that I could use. You should spend the money on things for yourself ... " Harvest pauses, her eyes look down upon the thing in her back. She draws it forth from within the biggest pouch in her bag. It is the handaxe given to them by Meg Thistleburr.

"Do you know what I would wish to buy, Anthos," Harvest asks. "A home." She sighs. There will be no home. The road calls. On the road will be many people who need help as much as Meg Thistleburr had. There is a need, and where there is need, she must go.

"There are a few things that we need. But, I have money for them." She replaces the handaxe within her bag and begins dressing for the day. Today would be another day of shopping. This time, however, she will know something of the things that she wishes to buy.

Arminas
Tuesday May 23rd, 2006 10:56:15 PM

Groups change, dynamics change, and leaders change. Change is natural, and Arminas does not mind. Andrath seemed too quiet to lead. Now though, apparantly nobody is comfortable with leadership and it is divided. His comments he shares with the group during the idle time.

"Any is the best choice as diplomat. He has charms that are coming to light. Bralin seems to be steady in battle, though I do worry about his tactics."

Looking at Bralin he adds:

"I will support you, but please realize that there are a few of us who prefer to do much at a distance."

When the loot is divided, Arminas spends much time researching what to do. He has not yet decided, but will go to the catacombs on the morrow.

OOC: Back, but back logged. I will try and catch up.

DM Kathy
Wednesday May 24th, 2006 2:04:49 AM

Fresh from your adventure, you have money to spend, and things to spend it on.

Lorth acquires a masterwork lance and a military saddle for his mount.

Bralin returns from the Catacombs with new armor and a new mount. Granite will undoubtedly serve his new master well--but what will you now do with Carrots?

Any receives a delivery from the Catacombs--an ordinary-looking backpack and a very lightweight buckler.

Harvest and Any discuss the magical needs of the party, and Arminas is still contemplating what his funds may buy him.

And, as Bralin said, it is about time for your next adventure. It is better to get prepared sooner than later.

[OOC: We'll start the new adventure tomorrow, unless someone says they need more time.]

Lorth
Wednesday May 24th, 2006 8:02:32 AM

Lorth summons Tobiasz while he is waiting for his friends, and outfits him in his new warsaddle. He also hangs the lance on Tobiasz's left side.

Any
Wednesday May 24th, 2006 8:48:05 AM

Any watches in appreciation as Harvest rises from the tub.

"Then let us go shopping. You for the things you have mentioned, And I for something more to help in battle."

So saying, he offers his arm to Harvest, opening the door, and leading the way downstairs.

Harvest
Wednesday May 24th, 2006 12:24:27 PM

Harvest takes the arm proffered by the handsome bard. It is a comforting thing. And, at the same time it is so very odd to walk arm in arm. It is so very odd to have such a connection to, such feelings for a man who shares such feelings for her. It is odd by virtue of its very normalcy. When compared to her life in the camps and then upon the road, a life that has driven her to self reliance and solitary pursuits, when compared to this, the simple act of taking his arm is strange to such point at which she would almost believe that she were viewing someone else's life.

Harvest looks up at his face. Strong, noble, handsome. There is something within her that soars at the sight of him. It is near to a wild thing, that wishes more than just the look. It wishes his touch. It wishes to take him into her and consume him, to make him hers.

Harvest Moon stands outside herself and examines the feeling as though observing a feral creature. It purrs and snarls, ever active with primal self-centered desires. And it shows no sign of wishing to leave.

But then Anthos' words melt the pensive look upon Harvest Moon's face. She holds the warmth of his arm and pushes the feral creature away.

"I know some arcane magic," she says as they walk out the door. "But a true practitioner of the art would be a welcome addition to our group."

[ OoC: I think we may be able to conclude our Catacombs orders shortly. ]

The dwarf nods at Arminas' reminder. He does not reply. The elf's penchant for distance has been demonstrated repeatedly.

As for Carrots, Bralin simply drops the burro off at the Temple of Alemi as an offering. The priests will find use for him.

Arminas

Arminas goes to the catacombs and comes back with a wand and some scrolls (hopefully). He contemplated buying a warhorse as Bralin did, but thinking of Darkfire and his service to Arminas during the past week he decides against it. He tells the group:

"Darkfire has been a brave and noble mount. I will keep him and claim him as mine, as Bralin claimed Carrot as an offering to the temple. I will ask Darkfire for his permission."

Arminas then casts 'speak with animals' and talks to Darkfire in the language of horses.

You are brave and noble. The dwarf gives away the mule, and seeks out a horse trained in war. You are a better horse, you know the country, the sights and smells. I will not exchange you. Will you agree to stay with me?

Arminas then tells the group.

"I am ready to travel, I tire of this town."
