Just before leaving, Savin will drink down a potion of enlarge and activate his tattoo of shillegah and finally his ring of blinking. He will be set to engage the closest spelluser if possible but will strike any opponent in range.

"Peerimus, put us right among them. They might be expecting an attack but can't know the precise timing of it. I want first licks."

Ready strike hits ac 30 for 23 points of damage.
If I can take a flurry of blows, Savin will but the highest # I rolled is a 4 so I don't think I hit anything. Made blinking roll if I was successful in hitting

By Peerimus' count he is going to use 60 from the beginning casting of the scry spell, target 'Yorrick'.

The scrying finishes and Peerimus nods to Jaeden, "The southern most target on his own sounds good to me on all those reasons."

The last crucial second tick down. Jaeden chooses the spot, targeting the dot lowest on the screen. Peerimus concurs.

Savin invokes some preparatory magic.

Peerimus casts several spells including the summoning of a large brown bear. Then he himself turns into a bear, leaving Jaeden in command. Peerimus can no longer speak.

Then the Wold blinks. Each being taken up by Faraday feels stretched long. It is not an uncomfortable feeling. It is a warm, lax and lazy feeling, like soft candy being pulled and pulled and pulled to its limits.

*snap*

There's a gut hurling sense of sudden compaction, and the Wold blinks into being again.

Small rough homes of wood stand in the foreground with a dark stone temple above and behind. The sky above is blue and cloudless. The space about is clear for yards around, weed strewn dirt. Foothills rise to the north, east and west. Behind is a line of trees. Beyond the trees the forest streches on.

And there, at the nearest small house, standing before the door are three figures. To the right is a saddled horse. To the left is a sleek black leopard. And in the center, an elf. Sensing a presence, the elf turns. The face. That face hits Sly, Savin, and Peerimus. But it hits none harder than it hits Luke. The elf, it's his old master. It's the Ranger, Trace Jacobs.

After tracking this group that had been killing innocent people to these buildings Trace is supprised to see a large group materialize behind him and shadow and yet not really supprised to see Sly, Savin, and Peerimus standing there. :::cast magic fang on Shadow::::::

Without saying a word just smiling, Trace draws his swords.....

My tatoo has faded a bit, I think it is time to darken it a bit with some fresh blood. I've been tracking some terrible evil. Im done following, I mean to not let them leave this area ever again.

Trace smiles again, "Do yall have a plan or is it just kill them all?"

"60! We jump now Luke. Come!" Bothe Sly, Luke and the others jump into Taraday.

"POOF!" They are sll transported (Not with out a little pain!) to this place. Sly being the first to see Trace, His jaw drops to his chest! But recover quickly, He Yells at the Ranger "TRACE! You Old Drow! Stand still if you value your life! I'm sending Luke to make sure to really sure that your NOT the enermy!"

Sly (with out taking his eyes off Trace) tell Luke "Luke! Go see if that elf is the real trace?" he will now draw his sword.

Luke (when told) Will jump into the ring. When every thing clears for him, is suprised to see the familure faces of the horse and his old master (who went hunting with)

Over comeing his suprise and on the request of Sly, will slowly creep to where his old master is and keep and eye on that CAT! Luke will sniff Traces boots to make sure it's the right Elf! "Master Trace??".

Finally getting used to the sensation of being wisked around by way of magic, Jaeden recovers quickly this jump. He gets ready to shout commands but gives pause when Sly voices his recognition.

Peerimus recognizes Trace's Horse more than he does the elf. With a grunt to Yorrick, he moves to the left. Yorrick steps forward to the summoned bears left and Peerimus steps up forming a front line just to the left of Yorrick and the other bear. Looking to Jaeden he nods his head up and down several times and paws the ground.

Yorrick can sense the approach of battle and his nostrils flair. The scent on the air is familiar, but distant in his memory.

Luke sniffs cautiously at the elf, an extra wary eye out for the Cat. Then his tail begins to wag and his tongue lolls out in a smile. "Trace! It's Trace." Luke barks.

The wary eye, however, never leaves the Cat.

Identity is confirmed. And with the uncertainty and suspicion of the past few days, this comes as a relief. But what would bring Trace to this place? When last he was seen he had dropped off the wagon during the Great Race. And, from Trace's point of view, where did his former group suddenly materialize from? Who are these new others? And where is Shiraz? Ilsidur? The halfling Barnum?

But is this the time to answer such questions? Trace may not know it yet, but evil beings of great power walk this place. No attack has come yet. But the colored dots on the screen of the vision moved in a roughly circular pattern.

And then, what is this place? Just north of the group is a line of small one story wooden buildings. Their shallow peaked roofs rise to a rough 20 feet in the air. Over the line of the roofs the dome of a temple of dark stone rises to almost three stories. The streets are of rough packed earth, and up what appears to be a wider central street, Peerimus and Savin can see the entrance of the temple. Framed between the buildings, the main entrance is open, up a short flight of stone stairs. The interior is dark.

The smaller buildings, though made of rough planking, have small touches to their manufacture, a craftsmanship that both Sly and Trace would recognize as elfish. All of the windows are shuttered. So many buildings and yet not a sound. If these homes are of elfish workmanship, then where are the elves? All of the animals move about, uneasy. Peerimus, Trace, Jaeden and Firn'gaer all receive impressions from their friends and familiars. The impressions are dark and somber, dark as death.

Then the wind shifts and the stench wafts over the group, the putrid gagging stench of rotten meat.

Father Jasper and Magog are both silent and withdrawn. Both share extremes. Is the eldest and the other is the youngest. Perhaps it is that age in them that shuts down their faculties with deadly peril nearby. Cause regardless, it has already been shown that this can have dire consequences. And without cooperation, perhaps this time for others aside from themselves.

Trace moves over to the edge of the buildings (at section ap,09) after the hey how are ya and how ya doings are over and and looks and searches the area with his eyes while listening for any movment. He pulls Shadow up to him and turns to the others, "If yall want I can send her ahead a bit, she is pretty good at flushing out the prey with out getting herself into too much trouble?" While shadow sits and waits she listens and watches the nearby corner for anything out of the ordinary.

Sly ask Trace "Just one question Friend! How did you get here? Were you pulled here? If not? Then How DID you get here? Trace please answer that question! I'm am now a Bladesinger and would hate to take a blade to you, If you were controled by this evil we are fighting!" Sly ask Trace with his sword in his hand, hope in his eyes that trace made it here with his own magic!

Sly will call Luke to his side, t6hen look around to get his bearing. "Alright Jaesen! Where to now? Follow the Cat?"

Savin will say in an almost conversational tone, "Trace, I don't know how you got here or if your aware but there is a really nasty group of adventurers here that are trying to kill us and we are trying to kill them. I guess we will see very quickly if you have been turned by them. If you haven't, then prepare for battle. They have no mercy"

Savin will then activate his boots of speed and dart over to the building on the right. He will pull himself up to the roof (climbing in a hurry, took minus 5 climb check 29)

He will summon his spiked chain from his glove of storing and look around for the enemy. (spot 23)

Ive been wondering the land on my own. You know rangers arnt much for company for too long so I needed to stretch my legs and move about by myself for awhile. On the outskirts of Dremoria I caught wind that bands of mercenaries have been hired to move large quantities of weapons into an area on the eastern frontier. I found the trail of one of these bands and tracked them through the forest.

In a small secluded vale with a peaceful gurgling stream, I found their camp. The parts of at least seven men and women lie scattered and decomposing across the area. They may have been dead for several weeks. The crates of elven bows lie broken apart, their contents ruined, as though from the simple joy of destruction. There is evidence that some of the men and women have had their flesh eaten by other than the wild animals of the area.

There are new tracks to follow. This trail is not as easy to read. The killers are clearly much more skilled than their prey had been. The trail leads into a group of foothills, winding up at a small plateau on which a rough frontier town lies. I hid out in the brush watching the town from a place of vantage. The town is a cluster of one story buildings that surround a two story temple of some sorts. Nothing moves in the streets. The town appears deserted. Finally, after a time, I decided to investigate. Thats when you poped in and for some reason I wasnt too suprised to see you. Yall allways seemed to run into trouble. I suppose you drug along these poor folks with you? Real nice to see you though, I have missed the scrapes that we got in allthouhg like your friend suggest, I sense this might be a fight ahead. I have never shirked away from a fight but I was begining to wonder if I was going to bite off more than I could handle. I would say yall poped in just in time.

Them watches Saven climb the wall, Sly replies Trace, "What he said is true, it seems that their are our counter parts, mercyless and evil. As you saw back there! and I think here too. Well you wanted action? Your going to have action! Like Savin said 'No Mercy' because they really don't have any.
Now let's go!"

Peerimus and Sly confirm the identity of the ranger. Firn'gaer is still unsure. He's sure of his identity, but his reason for being here...he hasn't made up his mind. Considering chosen involved and the familiarity of their opponents with Savin, Trace would be a prime suspect.

"Shall we." Whispers the gnome. "I'm going to be invisible to gain the advantage of surprise."

Softly as possible, using the rod of extend, he casts Invisiblity on himself.

Comfortable for the moment with the re-appearance of an old member Jaeden begins to formulate a plan. Savin darts off and for a second the warrior frowns. He notices the monks destination however and approves.

"Let us know if you see anything Savin. And don't get too far ahead"

"Firngaer, check the rooftops directly behind the ranger. Stay close and let us know if trouble comes. But don't give up your location."

"Sly, Magog, Jasper and Luke, take that street and keep pace with us" He points the alley to the right of Trace [starting at AV108]. "Jasper keep behind the line they create and support as necessary. Listen for my call in case I need to reposition you."

He looks at the Ranger. "Not sure if you want to do your own thing or coordinate with us, but if you want to coordinate move with me."

He turns to the bears. "Peerimus, all bears down the center lane with me. You and Yorrick each on one side of me. If something comes from the cross streets, use your summoned bear to block them off. Trace, hang back a bit and support us as necessary."

"Dalek will stay here and keep watch on our backs. Trace if you want to leave your mount with Dalek he can watch over him. If trouble comes Dalek will lead your horse away."

"Everyone stay alert and try to advance in tandem."

With that said Jaeden moves to position [AM107].

Once everyone is in postion he'll begin a steady advance towards the temple.

Peerimus for the moment is content with the explanantion given by Trace, it seemed plausible and the look on his face when they appeared helped. The others had always seem to expect them, Trace was certainly not. He also was not about the Abbey.

Jaeden starting directing and Peerimus grunted a reply. Would have to alter the order a bit but until the Summoned bear had to return there would be no harm. Mention the shared spells aspect to Jaeden The druid mentally notes and the three bears move forward.

Peerimus urges the summoned bear to the right side of Jaeden at the point. He takes the left side and keeps Yorrick directly in his wake. Peerimus is not sure how the warrior will feel about it, but since all three can easily be at teh first crossroad and have is secured befor the others funnel into the street, he decides he will.

Magog stands there watching and listens to what is being said, " What tanden??" He ask scraching his head. Magog put's his club on his shoulder "Now! Have Fun!" He follows Sly, Fr. Jasper and the talking dog.

Jaeden notices that Yorrick hangs back while the summoned bear takes his right. He nods towards Peerimus, assuming the Druid knows how best when it comes to his animals.

Trace seems to satisfy the group as to his identity and intentions. For the most part. He moves quickly past his black leopard companion and peers around the corner. He sees the broad empty street with the dark temple looming at it's end. Over the doorway is a balcony. The door opening onto the balcony is black and empty as well.

(BTW, Trace, Search is for a focused seeking of a specific area, such as looking for traps or secret doors. It could involve touch as well as sight. Spot is a more general looking about you. You cannot Spot and Search at the same time.)

Sly looks about and questions Trace further as he awaits instructions from Jaeden.

Savin slides quickly across the street and vaults up the side of one of the wooden buildings. He looks out over the tops of the buildings. All is still. From his position, though, he can see that the houses spread out around the temple, most likely wrapping around the back of the temple as well.

With but the softest of whispered warnings, Firn'gaer fades to invisibility.

Jaeden points out positions to group his companions into formation. Then he moves directly into the middle of the street himself with a trust in military discipline that may or may not be warranted in his companions.

Then Peerimus the bear and his two massive friends, take up positions ahead of Jaeden, filling the street.

The town appears empty. It would be an otherwise pleasant place were it not so empty. The wooded foothills hold a natural beauty. And yet the town is eerie still ... And empty. The stink of rotten meat grows stronger in the nostrils of the three bears.

Trace barely catches the sound of a voice with his keen elfish hearing. Even though faint with distance, its character is angry and ranting. It appears to be coming from the temple up ahead.

Savin will look down at Jaeden and say, "Don't you think we should be checking the buildings as we go. We could be leaving enemies behind us, who could spring a trap. Everything is to quiet. They must know we are here and have set a trap. Can we find a way to scout ahead? Send an animal before us? We need some information."

Savin not seeing much from his vantage walks to the other side and drops to the ground keeping in contact with the building using his slow fall feat. Savin will try to look into the building he was climbing and then dart forward to the next and look into it.

After his movement he decides to stop his boots of speed to save their magic since nothing seems to be spring out at them yet.

Trace tilts his head, "Quite, I hear raised voices in the temple, too faint to understand. I'm going to move over one row with shadow to keep us from getting ambushed. All of us going down the middle dosent seem right. I'll send shadow up to seek out if there is anyone waiting to ambush she'll find them."

Jaeden notices that Trace runs off on his own and he grimaces, memories of earlier battles flashing before his eyes. "Trace stop. We're not all going up the middle. Sly, Magog, Jasper and Luke are all going to be heading down that street."

The warrior wonders if death and severe injury are the only true teacher in this world...

"Certainly keep an eye out Savin, but I don't think we have to worry too much unless Firn warns us. Remember we have some idea where they are."

He calls out loud enough for Firngaer to hear were he either where they started or in the position he called for. "Firn I'm assuming they're in the temple. Tell me if you can tell otherwise."

"Peerimus, go slow until the others reach their positions."

He moves to the end of the first intersection [AM101] paying close attention to the details around [spot 12 listen 12].

Dalek continues to keep watch behind [spot 19 listen 13].

Peerimus and the bears move further down the street. The druid well understands the need to stay relatively closer together, but they also need to close on the enemy. He will however stay with the group.

Savin crosses the roof and drops over the edge, floating feather-slow to the ground. He looks at the building for a window. There is one, but it, like all of the others, is shuttered. (Savin, please post a running total of how may rounds you've used off your Boots of Speed. So far, you can consider each DM post a round.)

Trace warns the others of the voices he heard. Then he directs his horse to join Dalek. The horse lifts its ears at the ranger's words, but does not move. (I need a Handle Animal check greater than DC15 to make your horse respond to a verbal non-ride command, Trace.) Trace and Shadow leave anyway, passing around the eastern corner of the house and north up the side-street. Trace stops at one corner, commanding Shadow to proceed further. Trace and Shadow have as special bond that the horse does not. Shadow understands the command to Seek, and stalks further up the street. She makes it 80 feet. (Leopard has a Speed of 40, Trace. Only enough to get to AU96) Blocked by the bulk of the houses, Trace ceases to hear the voices anymore.

(BTW, Trace, no sense making a Spot and Listen checks for the horse. It can't tell you anything anyway.)

Jaeden notes cracks appearing in his carefully crafted formation. He calls after Trace as the ranger leaves. Maybe he will come back. The warrior give a few words on caution, then moves forward through the canyon of bears.

Father Jasper casts aside his hesitation and follows the others. The old man is slow and noisy in his armor. But he tries the best he can.

Firn'gaer flies, silent and invisible around Traces horse. The only thing that marks his progress are his whispered words.

Sly and Luke make their way around the same corner that Trace had gone around. Something catches Sly's eye, but he can't tell what it is. The experienced Bladesinger knows, however, that it is the sign of an Invisible creature nearby. Luke scents the air, and pinpoints the invisible creature directly to his right. But, from the smell, he can tell that it is Firn'gaer and Rufus. There are other smells here too. Some of them the same smells as back at the Abbey. But the scents are old.

Magog follows Sly. His singing fills his own ears and he hears very little of what is going on. It's a wonder that Sly can hear with the distraction.

The Wall of Bears continue down the street, they move to the next cross-street. Now closer to the temple, Peerimus can hear the voice that Trace heard earlier. It's faint, muffled by the stone of the temple. But it is angry and declarative. (Peerimus, Wisdom Check, please.)

Aside from the voice that Peerimus and Yorrick hear, the town is still ghostly silent. Nothing moves. As the bears draw near, the smell of rotted carrion grows even stronger. It appears to come from the large building to the northwest.

Small houses have a door and window on opposite sides. Usually the Doors are on the South side and the window is on the North. All doors are closed. All windows are shuttered. Both doors and shutters appear sturdy. (Same as a Good Wooden Door for the purposes of bashing. PHB page 166.)

BTW, We're in pseudo combat rounds right now. You can make moves of greater than one round. But that means that your opponents get an equal amount of time for me to do whatever they are doing. Oh, I didn't tell you? They've been moving about all this time too.

Seeing that those assiged to the right hand street have yet to approached the interection Jaeden shakes his head in frustration. He can see the urgency in the body language of the Peeriumus-Bear but has trouble deciding what to do. Does he forget about the others and re-plan based on the group at hand or does he try to salvage the original plan?

He decides to make a last ditch effort to push the laggers but to continue forward with those at hand. Dalek, can you see the others still? The horse responds in images and feelings but it is enough for Jaeden to know what he needs. Give them a nudge for me will you? Get them moving.

Dalek moves towards the group consisting of Sly, Magog and Luke. He drops his head and nudges into the back of each, urging them forward. Who knows if these two-leggers will get the idea?

With naught else to do about it but hope for the best Jaeden signals Savin and Trace to move forward down their respective lanes while he does the same himself [hustle to AM98].

Trace holds postion and waits for the others to catch his postion and calls back shadow. While waiting, Trace looks over the area and listens, ((listen 17, spot 10)).

After nudging the others Dalek moves to Traces horse and lightly butts his head against the rangers mount. Communicating how horses do Dalek urges the horse to stay close and to follow him if he moves [command animals of his kind].

Meanwhile, Jaeden pays close attention to whatever happens around him [spot 24 listen 6].

Sly will move up fifty feet almost to the corner (AU/97) listening (or try to) and looking all the way.

Luke will again track any scent that he pick up, but cannot hear anything with Magog humming.

Savin so wants to dart forward, tumbling into the main square, activate all those traps, have the enemy look foolish missing him. He longs for those days. Instead somehow wisdom creeps into his head and sees Jasper lagging behind. He decides the old man needs a ride. He darts over to his location and scoops up the older cleric murmering, "Let me help you get across the street. My Master always said to help out your elders."

He then darts over and deposits the cleric dropping him at AN98. Savin will be standing right behind them at AM/AN 99/100

Savin will just run to Jasper and pick him up this round then. He will be in the square that Jasper is in and be ready to move next round.
