Lightning highlights the rocky reef as the Chosen of Domi struggle to stay upright. Flat-Top shouts out a warning, and whether of their free will, or fate, almost all the taurs find themselves in the water.
Zeoll surfaces and gasps for air. As the wemic flails about, a paw brushes against a rounded snout and grasps the low triangular dorsal fin of the summoned ally.
Toros jumps from the Sea Hag with what gear he can muster. Despite the weight of the wemic, and the trunk he carries, he doesn't sink! The taur's feet don't even break the surface of the water!
Brahmah looses his balance and falls off the boat, scraping a shin badly. The minotaur makes for the nearest trunk floating amongst the detritus, Heaving his chest over the wooden box, he kicks for all he is worth.
Flat-Top shoves a trunk overboard, and jumps clear of the rocking boat. Once in the water, the centaur uses the trunk as a flotation device and distances himself from the sinking ship.
Winterglade has the satisfaction of seeing the effects of his magic, as Toros, and two of the crew, scrabble upright after jumping into the Lotophagi and make tentative steps across the heaving seas. The centaur feels his own body suffused with power. Galloping across the water is no longer foreign to the cleric, but the wild conditions will make it a challenge to make much progress.
Gecktar looses his balance and is slammed to the deck as the ship lists to one side. Before the minotaur knows what is happening, there is a sickening groan, and the Sea Hag's bow dips below the water. The stern rises until it is almost vertical, and the unfortunate ship starts its slide into the deeps.

As soon as the ship starts going under Winterglade makes a tiny anvil sign on his chest [activating Feat of Strength] and jumps overboard, landing on the surface of water with all the grace of a sack of bricks [Jump 18]. The heaving of the sea makes it impossible to normally walk, so the centaur resorts to jumping from wave to wave, feeling a bit like a mountain goat.
Seeing that some of the party are swimming for dear life he shouts to those who can walk on water: "Gater'em together, Winterglade's got one more spell!" Not being a sailor he does not really know what this undertow is, but it doesn't sound too friendly, so he wants to set off his second Water Walk as soon as possible.
[Winterglade will move to the nearest swimmer and wait for the others to gather. Once whoever responded to his cry is close by he casts second Water Walk - Concentration 23.]

DM Bob & Carla Monday May 8th, 2006 10:41:11 PM
Gecktar and Winterglade jump overboard at the last minute. The cleric clears the danger created by the sinking boat, and lands with all fours on the surface of the roiling sea, as if it were firm ground. Alas, Gecktar is not so fortunate. He is struck by an errant beam and thrown wildly into the sea. His breath knocked from him, he struggles as he sinks under the surface.
Cognizant of the danger posed by the sinking Sea Hag, Brahmah and Flat-Top try to distance themselves from the disaster. Zeoll's magical ally helpfully permits the wemic to cling to it, and swims away from the ship, but not far from the other Chosen.
As Toros strides across the water in search of the unlucky Gecktar, the rest of the party witness the horror of the sinking. With the boat nearly perpendicular to the water, the stern breaks off just past the main-mast and drops with a splash, just as the rest of the aged xebec slides from view. There is a large wave that sends the Chosen bobbing like so many apples in a barrel.
(Those in the water (Brahmah, Flat-Top, Zeoll) Strength vs DC 12 to hold on to your wooden chest, barrel, or porpoise, Swim vs DC 15 to regain your flotation device. Those on the water (Winterglade and Toros) Dex vs DC 12 to remain vertical. Gecktar Swim vs DC 15 to break to the surface, Spot vs DC 12 to locate floating debris, Strength vs DC 12 to grab hold of Toros' glaive.)
As if the sinking of the Sea Hag was a sacrifice intended to pacify some deity, the storm abates a little. The swells are not so angry, and the thunder, lightening, and rain stops. Alas, the moon and stars remain hidden. The phosphorescent luminescence of tiny and harmless sea creatures floating on the waves outlines the shapes of the survivors. As best Brahmah can tell, the ship sank in waters somewhere off the Shipwreck Shoals and there are still many hours before sunrise.

[Dex 21] Winterglade manages to keep standing vertical. With horror he watches as the outstretched hand of Gecktar vanishes under the surface of the sea. With his spell active he is unable to immerse himself in water, so instead he looks around, and moves to Zeoll. "Gecktar's going under! Can you conjure some other animal to help or something? I can hold you over the water if you want to do magic!"
[I assume I didn't manage to cast the second Water Walk last round and it is still available?]
Remembering that his spell won't last forever, Winterglade looks around, trying to spot his equipment tied to a beam of wood [Spot 24].

Zeoll holds onto his dolphin (Str check 18). But he can't hold on for ever (nor can he keep making DC12 Str checks!), and the summoning spell that keeps the dolphion here is about to end (last round of 3) -- so Zeoll's first priority is to get to shore, or to a sandbar or reef or something he can use to stand up. The ship must have hit *something* that made it founder -- presumably land.
Zeoll asks his Dolphin to take him to shore.
If Zeoll must help with a Swim Check, then the check is an 18! That's a natural 20!
The liontaur's heart breaks when he hears Winterglade say that Gecktar is drowning! The liontaur prays to Domi that he will have solid footing next round, and that he will be able to cast a spell to help his friends.
Brahmah struggles to try to make it to Zeoll or Glade. (if he can, he'll take 10 to get to one of them) If he can get to them, "I think we are near the Shipwreck Shoals, but I need to know where north is first!"

Toros remains calm and vertical to drag Gecktar to a closest safer point. "Hold on Gecktar, we are almost there!!" He catches the minotaur with free hand and helps him to hold tight.
DM Bob and Carla Tuesday May 9th, 2006 11:27:01 PM
As if the hand of Domi himself was pulling him up to the surface, Gecktar moves through the dark water and breaks through the surface. Flat-Top is nearby, his barrel under one arm, preparing to dive. When Gecktar surfaces, the pie-bald centaur shouts encouragement as Toros extends his reach towards their friend. Gecktar grabs hold and is secured for the moment.
Winterglade notices most of his friends have hold of wooden chests and barrels. He recognizes they are the very same containers in which some of his friends have stored their gear. His gear is nearby as well, lashed securely to a broad wooden beam. The centaur sees that the two crew are busy working together. The elf has a rope and appears to be tying two broken beams together, while the half-orc moves towards him, some net over one shoulder and pushing a large barrel before him.
There is no ground underfoot for Zeoll, but he does spot some large pieces of debris within arms reach.
Tales told about the Shipwreck Shaols run through Brahmah's mind. He remembers how ships avoid the area, arcing north-west of the taur islands, or creeping through Defiles Channel and the Upper Kings Channel rather than go too close to the Shoals. He remembers stories of ships that got too close to the dangerous reefs that encircle the mysterious islands of the Shoals, ran aground or just disappeared. Few were known to survive, and those that did were never the same. 'Touched in the head', it would be whispered because when they spoke it would be of terrible beasts, and hideous monsters and their eyes would go wild with the terror of their memories.
It is hard to orient oneself, but Brahmah gets the sense the group is moving with the tide towards some destination.

Winterglade AC11 HP41(51) Wednesday May 10th, 2006 7:27:30 AM
The centaur sighs with relief when he sees the head of Gecktar back above the surface of the water. Noticing that the crew is busy assembling a makeshift raft, he splashes over and lends his hand, warning the sailors when the duration of his spell is about to run out [we probably have about 10 more minutes left?].
[Take10 on untrained Craft: 11]
Being aware of the weight of taurs he realizes that it will be hard to assemble a raft strong enough to support the Chosen above water, so he just suggests making a tightly strung-together pile of flotsam everyone can tie themeselves to. Winterglade, fearing that party will get separated, helps to guide all those who would follow to the floatation device. He also makes sure to collect all chests containing Chosen's equipment before they sink to the bottom of the sea.
Flat-top (AC 23 86/96 HP) Wednesday May 10th, 2006 8:41:04 AM
"Good Job, Toros! but look at me I'm glowing like a torch!! Anybody needs a light??" He smiles and start to swin toward Winterglade.
"Come on over here! I can almost see what they are planing! Captain! Can you make out where we are yet? And where we're drifting to?? I'm just courious??" Ask Flat-top while swiming toward the builders of the raft.
Flat-top mumbles to himself "Now I woun't have to shower for a whole week!"
Toros Wednesday May 10th, 2006 10:03:21 AM
"You look like a big star Flat-top, which has fallen into the water of world in a space storm! Do you remember that song of Winterglade about Six Taurs on a ship..."
Yes, the wemic feels an urgent need of relaxing and encouragement after all these troubles, and some joke and songs would do well for this. Gecktar seems to be allright for now, he hopes the same for all the others too.
Brahmah Wednesday May 10th, 2006 11:28:41 AM
"Not a damn clue Flat-top. Keep looking! Your a royal sailor! You know this area too!!!" Breathes the very wet and perturbed taur.
"Where is that damn bird of MINE! If I needed here more now than ever before! PAH'CAW!" He shouts for his once loyal and likely gone a stray eagle. "$%&!?"
Gecktar Wednesday May 10th, 2006 12:10:12 PM

DM Bob & Carla Wednesday May 10th, 2006 7:46:38 PM
The porpoise rolls his eyes sadly when Zeoll fails to activate the magic necessary to extend the creature's life. The wemic gets a sense that the sea mammal wished most genuinely to be useful, but alas, was not provided the opportunity to do more for the bard or his party.
Gecktar is safe, but beseeches Toros to bring him closer to safety. The wemic obliges, and tries to make light of their situation with Flat-Top. Catching on to what the surviving crew of the Sea Hag are doing, Winterglade works feverishly to gather as much rope and floating debris as possible in the minutes that the magic of his Water Walk spell remain. Deciding that quantity over quality is necessary to support the combined weight of the taurs and their gear, the cleric accumulates a prodigious amount of floating detritus. The half-orc and elf from the ship work frantically to lash Winterglade's haul together to form a rather large but flexible raft.
Brahmah is starting to loose patience, but realizes that it would be futile for his companion to seek him out in the inclement weather and in the dark of night. The taur gains some small sense of satisfaction that the water is warm, and the party remains together amongst the flotsam and jetsam discharged from the sunken ship.
(No check required to hold onto the raft. Climb or Strength DC vs 10 to climb onto the raft. Rope checks to ensure some degree of stability to the assemblage. Spot checks everyone, please.)

[Take10 on Use Rope: 11]
Winterglade is not very comfortable with tying knots, fortunately there are several sailors around who will do better job than him. With so little time to work with the construction can't be more than a makeshift affair anyway. Feeling the magic slowly drain from him he mentally prepares himself to be immersed in the dark waters of the ocean. The fact that the water is warm is little consolation, as thoughts of squids, octopuses, sharks, were-sharks, dire sharks and tiger sharks immediately enter his mind. A soft moaning escapes his lips. "See, Winterglade did tell you sea travel was a bad idea, no? Look at us now, stranded in the middle of blue nowhere, barely hanging to dear lives..."

DM Bob & Carla Thursday May 11th, 2006 11:54:35 PM
The castaways struggle in the rough seas to gather enough debris to fashion a makeshift raft.
Toros and Flat-top help the half-orc push the last of the barrels under the netting and Brahmah and the elven sailor manage to lash the entire mess together. "They be nice knots... like ye was a sailor!" the elf congratulates the leader of the Chosen on his work. Winterglade bemoans their fate with an "I told you so" and draws a sour look from the same elf.
Toros manages to help Gecktar aboard the raft as the Waterwalk spell comes to an end. Winteglade, Flat-Top, Brahmah and Zeoll cling onto the raft. Mixed in with the barrels and planks, and other debris that forms the raft, are the chests containing the equipment of the Chosen.
Over time the seas change. The waves turn to swells with long deep troughs. The raft repeatedly rides up one side, crests, and then slides once more down the backside of each swell. If a taur were to let go, he would soon be separated from the raft and have little chance of being spotted again.
The night seems interminable, and the taurs begin to feel the effects of exhaustion. Even though the water is relatively warm, it is cooler than their own body temperature, and when added to the exertions of surviving the storm and building the raft it begins to take it's toll.

DM Bob and Carla Monday May 15th, 2006 11:09:58 PM
Zeoll's friends come to his rescue, with Flat-Top grabbing him by the scruff of the neck and hauling him onto the rickety raft and Winterglade restoring some of the wemic's lost endurance.
Despite the dreadful night, the taurs are sufficiently alert to spot the danger circling 'round their assemblage of flotsam and jetsam. Brahmah notices a red stain spreading in the water about 40 feet from the raft where a large shark can be seen just below the surface. The attention of the other two focuses on what the first has. Toros and Gecktar can see the carnivorous fish, about 12-15 feet in length pass on either side of the raft. Gecktar does not get a sense that the creatures are motivated by any evil.
As the sky grows lighter the Chosen of Domi witness a feeding frenzy that leaves little doubt as to what will befall them if they do not make landfall soon.
(OOC: The sharks will be busy for about 10 minutes. Post what any PC could reasonably do during that time.-DM Carla)

"Uh, you better hold all of it for a moment, Winterglade has a business that urgently needs to be tended to. What's this shark eating, by the way? I never thought there were fish in the ocean with that much blood in them."
Winterglade moves about the raft, healing wounds [Brahmah CMW over Silence heals 21 damage, Flat-top CLW over Detect Evil heals 12 damage, Zeoll CLW over Comprehend Languages heals 6 damage (both lethal and nonlethal)].
"Does anyone see any land?" - asks Winterglade. There is not much hope in his voice. "What about that special map, does it show anything?"

DM Bob and Carla Wednesday May 17th, 2006 12:18:43 AM
The Chosen of Domi watch in horror as the sharks tear apart the unfortunate who was plucked from the edge of the raft by the first of the sharks. Alas, there is nothing they can do, but hope his death was quick. Toros marks the passing of the little lookout.
Winterglade wastes no time, as he tends to his companions and performs the handiwork of his god. Brahmah, Flat-top, and Zeoll, all benefit from his healing touch. Gecktar manages to stabilize himself on the floating wreckage, and prepares his bow.
The golden eagle rests but a moment on the ranger's arm. Brahmah senses the creature's fatigue. Through the link they share, the ranger has an impression of land, as seen from the sky, but not the landmass the party had left earlier. Not South Harbour or New Elenna, but rather a crescent shaped island shrouded in fog. There is a sandy beach punctuated by large rocky outcroppings, and the dark shapes of rounded hills draped in dense forest, moving towards the interior. Slowly the eagle returns to the sky and takes a route north; north-west...the very same direction the tide is taking the rickety raft. One of the sharks disappears, however the other two resume circling the raft, while Zeoll tries to improve the attitudes of the unfriendly creatures. (OOC: Wild Empathy requires Zeoll and the sharks must be withing 30 ft. of each other.)
(OOC: Flat-Top, Zeoll, and Winterglade CS all approved. I need to talk to Bob about Toros, Gecktar, and Brahmah.-DM Carla)
Winterglade Wednesday May 17th, 2006 8:13:20 AM
The centaur watches the dispersing stain of blood in silence. Somehow he knows that from now on it is going to return to him in his dreams every night for years.
Finally he turns to the last remaining sailor and inspects him, checking for wounds.
"What is your name, lad?"
Later, he mutters: "Stormweaver's Silver Hoof! But Winterglade did warn you. And what happens now with our quest? It was extremely time-sensitive, was it not?..."
Flat-top Wednesday May 17th, 2006 8:47:55 AM
Flat-top watches the Eagle flight, "Captain! That's the way the tide is going, If we had a oar or some thing to paddle with, we could go faster with the tide?"
Flat-top whispers to Winterglade 'Don't for get to you see weed!' smiles at him as he passes out the food he found.
Brahmah Wednesday May 17th, 2006 12:41:54 PM
The captain can't help but glancing at the sharks. "Well, there is land in the direction. If we can wound or kill one of the sharks, the other will likely turn on his companion and we could make our escape. Stay here on the raft and rest Pah'caw. Well done friend!" He rubs her head feathers.
Gecktar Wednesday May 17th, 2006 4:09:44 PM
Gecktar looks around and stays alert, his bow in his hands. "Well, with sufficient rest I would be able to provide us some food and water. So if we can rest we will not die from starving."
"But for now those sharks are our main problem..."
Toros Wednesday May 17th, 2006 7:43:28 PM
The wemic tries to reach the chest containing his items, which is now a part of the raft, looking for some useful items. The only stuff he can reach is some water, foods, bow and arrows. While he delivers the food and water to be shared, offers the bow and arrow if they want to wound the sharks. He actually should have a magic missile wand, if he can find out where he has put it...
(OOC: Thanks, I think I can assume Toros can use some of his equipment in the new CS)
Zeoll Thursday May 18th, 2006 5:59:01 AM
Zeoll stays alert -- if the sharks get closer, then he will use his charm and wild empathy abilities.
He is just glad that there is some indication of land. He's confused though -- what the heck did the ship crash against?
Flat-top Thursday May 18th, 2006 8:04:32 AM

Flat-top strings the bow and will use it as soon as he spots a big mouth shark in his sight.
Brahmah Thursday May 18th, 2006 10:52:04 AM
He sighs. "Sharks."
DM Bob and Carla Thursday May 18th, 2006 10:50:06 PM
The Chosen of Domi worry about the circling sharks, but the thought that the tide may be bringing the rickety raft towards land gives hope to some of the party.
Winterglade tries to draw out the half-orc survivor from Sea Hag. "M'name's Flud," he says, in answer to the centaur's questioning, adding in a pained voice, "he was jus' a boy..." The first mate of the defunct ship looks away.
Toros rummages aground in the barrels and chests looking for the party's gear. He locates his stuff, and is happy to note nothing is missing. Gecktar worries about his need for rest, and advises his friends he can provide sufficient food such that the party won't starve. Flat Top tries to get a bead on the carnivorous creatures circling the raft, and notices that there is now only one.
With the rising of the sun, the last of the fog burns off. Zeoll notices the tide is taking the party away from the reef that had snagged the Sea Hag. He sees the foamy heads of the waves to the south where the rising tide now hides the ridge of rock and coral. Looking in the opposite direction Brahmah notices a dark, and very solid shape on the horizon, maybe half a mile away. A narrow strip of pale beach, with a dark, wild green rising up and back against the grey-blue of an unsettled sky.

Winterglade Friday May 19th, 2006 8:06:55 AM
The centaur's eyes light up when he sees the dark outline of the land looming against the horizon. Indeed, after a night spent watching sharks he would welcome the sight any shore, even the cliffs of Koshe-Marr.
"Looks like we just might be able to make it. Winterglade has one more Waterwalk left, but with that nightmare still circling around us it's probably better to save it until we really need it."
"Does anyone have any idea what this land might be?"
Brahmah Friday May 19th, 2006 11:06:15 AM
"Chosen, I'm making a run for the beach over there. The tide is behind us. I'm swimming." He draws out his kukri, grasps it in his teeth and makes for the beach with haste, wishing he still had his boots.
Brahmah Friday May 19th, 2006 11:07:44 AM

DM Bob & Carla d20+7=8 Sunday May 21st, 2006 11:37:49 PM
Flud the half-orc is the first to correctly identify that the raft has cleared the reef and now drifts towards an island protected by the coral outcroppings. He tries explaining this to the taurs aboard the raft but is interrupted by the leader of the Chosen diving into the water. "Oy" he shouts at the minotaur. "There be blood in the water and sharks about! Get back aboard."
Flat-Top and Gecktar ready their bows and Zeoll prepares to cast a spell should the wake of a dorsal fin be spotted. Toros and Winterglade keep an eye out for danger.
Only Flat-Top spots the dark shape of the shark as it cruises beneath the swells. Whether attracted by the blood in the water or the thrashing of Brahmah, the shark flicks it's powerful tail and shoots towards Brahmah some 20 feet ahead of the raft. The taur feels the creature brush against one of his legs as it somehow misjudges it's attack [Hit AC=8].
[OOC: Brahmah looses his dex bonus to armour class while in the water and must also make swim checks as per the PHB; Attacks against the shark with missile weapons suffer a 20% miss chance due to refractory nature of the water]
Winterglade Monday May 22nd, 2006 4:00:51 AM
The centaur's eyes open as wide as saucers when Brahmah jumps into the sea. "B... b... b... but the shark! Why did he do that? Winterglade does not understand? That Taur's got Char's Temper and no two words about it. If the shark gets hold of him and drags him underwater-"

Zeoll casts a Summon Nature's Ally 1 to call a dolphin. Of course, it is a full round casting time. Next round, he will conjure it as close to shark as possible so it can charge and attack.
DM Bob & Carla d20+7=16 d8+4=11 Monday May 22nd, 2006 11:49:41 PM
Arrows flit by the shark leaving small trails of bubbles as they are slowed by the water. Only one arrow strikes home, just as the shark turned back on the helpless Brahmah. The shark lunges at the minotaur and clamps down with it's powerful jaws [Hit AC=16 for 11 HP]. Without armour and barely able to keep his head above water the leader of the Chosen is easy prey for the shark.
Zeoll begins his incantations while Toros searches for a wand. Wintergalde can only stammer at the Monotaurs plight.
[OOC Brahmah needs to make swim checks of DC 15 to make any progress, DC 10 to keep his head above water - also we will use the underwater combat rules in the DMG so pleae ignore my 20% rule - I will adjust the AC of my sharks accordingly]
Zeoll (Inspired, SNA1) Tuesday May 23rd, 2006 1:00:07 AM

Porpoises are mammals that tend to be playful, friendly, and helpful. A typical porpoise is 4 to 6 feet long and weighs 110 to 160 pounds. The statistics presented here can describe any small whale of similar size.
Blindsight (Ex): Porpoises can "see" by emitting high-frequency sounds, inaudible to most other creatures, that allow them to locate objects and creatures within 120 feet. A silence spell negates this and forces the porpoise to rely on its vision, which is approximately as good as a human's.
Hold Breath (Ex): A porpoise can hold its breath for a number of rounds equal to 6 x its Constitution score before it risks drowning.
Skills: A porpoise has a +8 racial bonus on any Swim check to perform some special action or avoid a hazard. It can always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or endangered. It can use the run action while swimming, provided it swims in a straight line. *A porpoise has a +4 racial bonus on Spot and Listen checks. These bonuses are lost if its blindsight is negated.
Winterglade Tuesday May 23rd, 2006 2:55:17 AM
The centaur, having recovered from initial shock and surprise, moves quickly over the raft, giving a gentle pat on the shoulder or back of everyone present: Flat-top, Winterglade, Flud, Zeoll, Gecktar, and Toros are all under the Water Walk effect [duration 10 minutes].
"Just so that you know, there is now an option of walking over to Captain and pulling him out of the water. Not sure if he would accept help, though? Winterglade still haven't puzzled out what he is trying to achieve, and he doesn't want to ruin his plan. Or his fun. Must be a minotaur thing. Sigh."
[How far is it from the raft to the shore?]
Flat -top Tuesday May 23rd, 2006 5:31:24 AM
Flat-top answers Winterglade, Thank-you Glade! But I'm going to see what the Porpoise is going to do! You see the the porpoise is not a fish, it's a mamaul, it also hates sharks. They have been known to kill a shark twice their size, by ramming into their sides, breaking every rib that shark has, and he's quick enough to get away from the sharks. They also been known to drag sailors to shallow waters."
Flat-top look dencly at the scene, if the porpoise cannot help the Captain, this Center will dive in to get that Minotaur himself. Weather he want to be saved or not!.

"We could lead it with wooden oars !"
DM Bob & Carla Tuesday May 23rd, 2006 11:11:46 PM
The Chosen react quickly to Brahmah's plight. The large minotaur is out of his element with a ferocious carnivore bearing down on him. Tendrils of blood spread in the water from his wounds, sure to attract more of creature's bretheren.
Zeoll's dolphin appears and begins accelerating towards the shark, trying to cut off the beast before it's next attack.
Winterglade casts his spell on the raftbound members of the Chosen, gifting them the ability to walk on water.
Flat-Top and Gecktar await their chance to take action, but Toros sends five balls of energy streaking towards the shark. On impact the creature writhes and contorts as the energy wracks it's body.
Brahmah turns and lashes out at the creature with his blade, cutting it twice. The taur knows he has inflicted much less damage than normal as the resistance of the water impedes his swing [OOC slashing and bludgeoning weapons do half damage underwater]. Nevertheless, the shark goes limp, turns on it's side and slowly spirals downward into the darkness, a whispy trail of blood marking it's passage to the depths.
With the shark dispatched the Chosen now see that they are still some 300 yards from a green cloaked island that juts abrubtly from the sea. A narrow beach marks the transition from sea to land. Much of the island remains cloaked in cloud.
Toros Wednesday May 24th, 2006 3:23:53 AM
Toros water runs to their captain to convince and give a hand to him to return to move on together to the island before the sharks return.
"Captain, lets move on together, more of these sharks will come soon. You see, we are almost there at the island."
Winterglade d20+4=13 Wednesday May 24th, 2006 3:56:11 AM
"Come, let us drag that raft to the beach before more sharks show up. We can collect the Captain on the way."
Winterglade gathers whatever lengths of rope were left unused in the construction of the raft , ties them around his torso and starts dragging the floatation device towards the beach like a horse would a carriage. His eyes are already scanning the shore in search of any danger that might pop up its ugly head [Spot 13].
Zeoll Wednesday May 24th, 2006 5:53:27 AM
Well, now that he can walk on water, thanks to Winterglade, Zeoll gets off the raft, and starts pushing it to the island! As he goes, he keeps singing, not because there is any foe in sight, but just for fun.
Flat-top Wednesday May 24th, 2006 8:29:50 AM
Flat-top Jumps onto the water, ask Winterglade "Very Good Idea! Give me a piece of that rope and we'' both tow that raft to shore faster, before we get more visitaurs?"

The taurs make for the beach, their attention consumed by the thoughts of the sharks that lay out to sea, and the safety of the beach. None of them notice the two dull gray forms that rise out of the mist that swirls low over the water.
Bloated and partly decayed, their flesh hangs from their bodies, water dripping from each and every crack and orifice. Clearly once humans or at least humanoid, the two undead flail their arms at the two taurs pulling the raft towards shore [D1 hits Flat-Top AC=20 for 20 HP - Flat-top is not wearing armour and is flat-footed: D2 hits Winterglade AC=28 for 13 HP - Winterglade is also without armour and flat-footed].

The air remains thick and heavy with water. No feat of strength can tear the watery envelope of air that suffocates all those within 30 feet of the 'drowned'. Winterglade calls forth the power of his god to turn away these new foes, but to no obvious effect.
Flat-Top swings at the nearest of the two undead and his morningstar strikes deep into the sodden flesh sending another spray of watery mist into the air. Toros sends 5 balls of energy slamming into the second undead causing it to momentarily shudder before it swings again with its massive bloated arms.
Brahmah readies his Kukri but cannot reach the creatures from his perch atop the raft. [Brahmah would have to swim over to the two undead creatures some 15 feet away or paddle the raft in that direction to take part in the battle]
Zeoll feels the water laden air enter his lungs and he gasps unsuccessfully for breath as the 'drowning aura' begins to overcome him. He can feel the first waves of panic welling up in him as he struggles for life's breath [Fort vs DC 11 or fall unconcious]
Gecktar rushes in to the aid of Flat-Top and brings his warhammer down hard on the shoulder of the undead [Hit AC=24 for 12 HP; Fort Save = 20; does anyone know when Gilles is back?]
The two drowned lash out again with their arms hitting Flat-Top and Toros for 37 and 33 each]
Everyone but Zeoll must make a Fort save vs DC 10 to continue holding their breath inside the area of water-laden air.
A low throaty humming begins to sound through the mist. At first it does not seem like words but after a moment it becomes clearer. "Come...come and join us below. You have disturbed our solitude, now you must join us..."
Zeoll (AC16 HP33, Water Walk) d20+3=7 d20+3=15 Monday May 29th, 2006 9:54:33 PM
[OOC: I assume I can take no other actions while drowning? Did I attack with my sword last round? No?]
Zeoll tries to cough up the water in his lungs. (Fort save 7.) But then he makes a heroic effort to remain conscious. (Use hero point (1 of 3) to reroll: 15.)
Zeoll stays on his feat, gasping to breathe. If he has any chance to act, he withdraws and moves 80 feet off (water walk), hoping to get out of the range of this watery attack.

Toros is surprised to be found by the undeads, even he was trying to hide in the shadows.
While the arms of the undead hit Toros, the wemic's animated item feels the opened wounds and heals Toros to some extent. (14 hp heal) Meanwhile, the wemic sends another flurry of missiles to the undead (18 hp damage).
Then the wemic tries one more time to sneak into the shadows (hide, 25, move silently, 32) while holding his breath (Fortitude, 30) and moving towards the place that he has left his healing wand.
Flat-top (AC 23 6/96 HP) d20+10=16 d20+9=27 d20+9=19 d4+2=4 d4+2=5 Tuesday May 30th, 2006 7:12:48 AM
Flat-top is knock back, this time he's really hurt. He staggers back just enough emergy to hit this blobb with his hind hooves. (no special shoes, just two hooves!) Flat-top is now on the brink of Darkness.
Attack with plain hooves, Right hoof hit AC 27 - damages 4hp. Left hoof hit AC 19 - damages 5.
Fort save 16.
Winterglade AC11 HP38(51) d20+3=14 Tuesday May 30th, 2006 9:11:11 AM
[Ceil, one of the undead attacked Toros, Flat-top should have 33 more hps left.]
[Dear DM's, last round Winterglade used a move action to move away from the undead. As his speed is 50 he should be out of the suffocating aura. If this is not the case please roll a Con check for me (at +2) and override the actions below if needed.]
"TAURS, IF YOU WANT HEALING YOU NEED TO GET OUT OF THE WATER! WINTERGLADE CAN'T CAST WHILE HOLDING HIS BREATH!"
Now, if he only had a wand, he wouldn't need to-
"Flud! Find my wand of healing in that sack! Black stick with silver runes!"
Winterglade keeps about 50 feet away from the undead. For now he tries to summon holy power once again, but is unable to channel enough of it to affect the drowned dead [turning check 14].

{Winterglade, I read the DMs post again and it clearly said "Two drowned lashes out(To me that means TWO MONSTERS) hitting one on Toros and one on Flat-top. Doing 37 and 33hp to each of the children.} So that meand only 6 points left for Flat-top, look like he's going down, because he cannot hold his breath forever.
Toros - OOC Tuesday May 30th, 2006 10:22:16 PM
If it is as Flat-top thinks, Toros's hps is also 14/70.
Also Toros is fighting defensively, with +3 to AC.

Zeoll does not hit with his sword. Drowned AC 19. Please post AC and HP.)
The raft pulled by the taurs provides a platform for Brahmah and his arrow follows Toros' missiles into the bloated corpse (D2). Flat-Top strikes his opponent, leaving impressions of his hooves in the sodden flesh of the creature from the deep (D1). Gecktar supports his friend, and attempts to beat back the enemy.
Zeoll struggles, making a heroic effort to remain conscious. He, and Winterglade move away from the aura of suffocating drowning. The cleric directs the half-orc from the Sea Hag to find his healing wand, but wisdom is not the fellow's strong suit. "What sack?" he cries back, looking at the flotsam and jetsam of barrels and chests assembled into the rickety raft.
Waves beat on the shore 100 yards behind the Drowned as they block the way of the taurs and their raft. Bulging pale eyes spot the liontaur (Spot=36) and sodden limbs swing out. One connects with Toros, while the other misses. (13 pts. dmg.) His partner is equally effective in his attack on Flat-Top as one arm connects with the centaur. (16 pts. dmg.) Their injuries do not deter them as they moan, "down a thousand fathoms...the Night-mare Life-in-Death with skin as white as leprosy...come...she waits for you!" The deadly threat of the creatures' suffocating aura looms for those within their 30 ft. radius. (Flat-Top, Gecktar, Toros, and Brahmah, Fort save vs DC 11 to continue holding breath.)

OOC: Soory! I misunderstoud, I though that there was two Enermy and they hit with two blows. Making that much damages, I would not be suprised because DM Carla is singing her Christmas song again!.
Flat-top turns (still holding his breath), faces the blob of a sailer again, let's him come to him. Flat-top twurls his MorningStar as he lets the mindless blob walk into his area of attack. Down come the weapon on one side of his enermy, then then swings up on his enermy's body again, Now flat-top is getting light headed (From holding his breath, more so than useal.)

Second attack hit AC 25 - Damages 15hp.

"That sack tied to the saddlebags! Right over the black chest! Left pocket, black wand! We need it NOW Flud!"
Even though the battle is concealed by the showers of water the centaur can see that several party members are badly wounded. He bites his lip, but there isn't much he can do until somebody comes out of the shower.
"How about we race to the shore and fight them there! They wouldn't find water there to drown us out!"
[Winterglade delays until all other members of the party have acted.]
[If somebody wounded comes out of the water and asks for healing, he will apply Cure Moderate Wounds on him: cures 2d8+6 hp, cast over Remove Paralysis.]
[If nobody asks for healing, he will try to Turn Undead once again. CL6, turning check at +3, turning damage 2d6+1. Either way please roll for me.]
Brahmah fires twice more. (AC 23 and 20, for 11 and 15 damage.)

Toros responds one more time with his magic missile, wounding the undead. (20 hp damage)Then, he reaches to pick up his healing wand (move equivalent action), as hiding in shadows seems to be useless, even if holding the breath, and defensive figthing is not (fort., 37, +3 to AC)

The tide seems to be turning as The Chosen begin to rain blows on the two undead. Flat-Top and Brahmah both connect with the first undead. Flat-Top's morningstar tears a slab of undead flesh from the creature, and Brahmah's arrows sink deep into it's hide.
Toros sends another volley of magic missiles into the other. The Wemic finally realizes that hiding from the undead is futile, especially when you have just drawn it's attention by wounding it [OOC See Hide Description in PHB p. 76 "It's practically impossible to hide while attacking, running or charging"]
Zeoll manages to recover enough to escape the drowning aura and begins to cast a spell. Gecktar manages to tap Flat-Top with a wand, and the warm glow of a healing spell is transferred to the injured Centaur.
No-one steps out of battle to accept Winterglade's healing and the Centaur calls forth the power of his god to force back the two undead. A brilliant pulse of light streaks out and slams into the first of the two undead. It falters mid-swing, stunned by the power of the centaur's divine power. Without further sound it slips beneath the water leaving it's bretheren to fend for itself. [OOC rolled a Turning check of 21 and damage 18 to turn a single creature].
The remaining undead lashes out wildly with it's sodden arms striking first Gecktar and then Flat-Top for 20 and 14 HP respectively.

The centaur flings his fist up into the air. "Yeah! Rest in peace or rest in pieces!" This is the first time in his life he had to channel so much divine energy in such a short period of time, and he feels at the same time exhausted, spent, and strangely exhilarated. There is now very little force left in him, but he gathers whatever's remaining and flings it at the remaining dead one more time [Turn undead: turns the remaining foe if he is 9 hd or less. BTW thanks for spotting the error I made in the damage calculation!].

The battle wages on. Zeoll stands at a distance frorm the fight, continuing to cast his spell from outside the watery envelope of air. Winterglade reaches deep within himself to find a last reserve of divine strength, but despite his best efforts cannot repeat his last effort and the drowned persists in it's attack. Flat-Top and Gecktar both strike at the creature and wound it, but it continues it's relentless mission to gather souls for the deep. [OOC Undead creatures are immune to criticals]. Brahmah manages to send another arrow into the grey corpse but it bats a second arrow away.
The drowned is nearing the end. Large rents are obvious on it's chest and shoulders. It's ear and part of a cheek have been torn away. Despite the damage it flails it's arms at it's agressors, sending a shower of water droplets arcing through the air. It no longer calls the Chosen to their death, but its massive arms both find their mark and pummel Flat-Top and Gecktar again. [Hit AC=28 and 22 for 14 HP damage to Flat-Top and 17 HP to Gecktar]. The centaur crumples before it. [Flat-Top is at -1]

With Flat-Top prone at his feet, Toros retrieves his wand and is able to use it once. [The wemic is unable to fight defensively since he is not actually attacking]. Flat-Top immediately jumps to his feet and provokes an attack from the 'drowned'. Even in it's weakened state, the creature strikes true and sends the centaur back into unconciousness [Hit AC=21 for 17 HP].
Brahmah fires two arrows at the abomination, missing both times, However Zeoll's dolphin manages to ram the drowned from behind. Gecktar, severely wounded, [OOC Gecktar is without armor at the moment] manages to stay standing, but fails to connect with his hammer.
The drowned seems unsteady on it's feet. It gathers it's strength for one last swing at Gecktar, smashing it's sodden limb into the taur just before disintegrating into a shower of spray. [Hit AC=14 for 14 HP; Gecktar is also unconcious at -1].
With the undead vanquished the taurs can see to tending their wounded. Winterglade is able to retrieve his wand from the raft. The drowning aura dissipates and all can breathe normally, although the vigorous battle may have left some winded. The beach lies some 100 feet away through the surf zone.

"Oh for the love of Brawler, what a mess. Come, there should be no need for swimming, as Winterglade's spell will still hold on for a bit. But, given the welcome we have just received from this land, maybe we should consider taking our chances with the sharks?"
Winterglade pumps some of his healing spells into Gecktar [3xCMW, heals 32 damage], and then moves over to Flat-Top and uses up the rest of his healing on him [5xCure Minor Wounds, heals 5 damage].
"That's it, Winterglade is all out of healing spells. Not sure how much healing you have left, Gecktar? Might be a good time to use the wands, but let's hit the shore first, no?"
Winterglade resumes his position in front of the raft and starts to haul it towards the shore, the wand he just retrieved safely tucked in his pocket just in case it's needed soon.
"Good thing everyone's alive - and what's this talk about pretty wing centaurs? Flat-top got whacked on the head?"
DM Bob & Carla Tuesday June 6th, 2006 7:35:41 AM
Toros and Winterglade manage to get everyone back on their feet and Winterglade metes out his healing. A dazed Flat-Top puckers and coos, hoping for a kiss from an angel? That angel is definitely not Toros.
Winterglade begins hauling the raft towards the rocky beach, now some 50 feet away. The beach is littered with debris from the Sea Hag which has been thrown ashore by the pounding surf.

Dizzy, Gecktar open his eyes and the sun hit them hard. On the beach he stands up and go away from the water. "Sorry guys if I don't help, I need some time to retrieve all my head"
Winterglade Wednesday June 7th, 2006 5:24:00 AM
Once on the shore, Winterglade puts on his armor, straps his shield to his back, and retrieves his saddlebags and the rest of his equipment, making sure everything is in its proper place.
[What time of day is it?]
"Right, let's see. We are still badly beaten. Since we know nothing about this land it would be a poor idea to wander around vulnerable. Winterglade will use wands. Who needs healing?"
[Folks, damage check please? If anybody still has healing that costs nothing this looks like a good time to use it. Winterglade is 38/51.]
Flat -top Wednesday June 7th, 2006 6:12:44 AM
Flat-top still low on hit points, Staggers around trying to salvage any thing that floats. "Where's my Barrel with my armor and stuff in it?"
He'll go over to Winterglade. "Hit me one more time, I'm a little low on the life line!"
Flat-top is 14/94
Toros (sub Ceil) Wednesday June 7th, 2006 6:19:37 AM
Toro's head snaps up when he hears Flat-top looking for his armor. Toro yell to centaur "Over here! your barrel is with mine!"
Toros will see to his armor, if dry will put it on. "Ahh! That feel better."
Zeoll (unwounded) Wednesday June 7th, 2006 6:56:11 AM
Zeoll and his dolphin help move the raft to shore.
DM Bob & Carla Wednesday June 7th, 2006 7:54:47 AM
With the raft finally ashore, the Chosen drag themselves onto the beach and begin to get organized. Winterglade heals those that are still bruised and battered. Flat-top, Toros, and Winterglade search out and don their armor. Gecktar lies on the beach, his head pounding from the heavy blows he absorbed.
Judging by the position of the sun it is now mid-morning. The tide is still rising and the taurs can see a line of driftwood, uprooted seaweed, and other debris some 20 feet further up the beach, marking the apex of the previous tide.
The makeshift raft is now showing the wear and tear of the surf and a night at sea. As the Chosen recover their belongings it soon becomes nothing more than loose lengths of rope, broken boards and a few barrels.
Brahmah Wednesday June 7th, 2006 3:14:44 PM
Brahmah grabs several odd lengths of wet rope. Then the former sailor takes them to the nearest tree, if there is one nearby, and hangs them to dry. He collects large bits of boards and barrels and puts them into piles. Then the ranger sorts out dry drift wood and wet planks and builds a fire, the more smoke, the better.

Given some time to recover, Gecktar stands up and looks at each Chosen trying to evaluate their wounds (heal check 13). He will begin with the frontliners. "Flat-Top ! come one, I have some healing spells for you". Praying Domi an thanking him for still being alive he spontaneously cast to spells (heal 40hp)
He then goes near Brahamah while he is still lighting the fire "Captain, you're wounded, let me look at this." He then casts a spells to heal him (heal 22hp)
"Toros ! Glade ! Come one men, I've some healing left" (heal 25 to Toros and 21 to Winterglade)
"I'll just keep the last for myself..." (heal 14hp)
"Now it's time to go to bed..." says Gecktar seemingly tired.
(Gecktar is 15/61 Con-2)
Toros Thursday June 8th, 2006 3:37:08 AM
Toros helps organize things as soon as possible so that they have some more time to rest and recover from the weary consequences of the sea. Meanwhile he tried to make sense of what has happened, being alert of another strange welcoming party...
OOC: Thank you very much Ceil for subbing and donning Toros!!
Toros-hp Thursday June 8th, 2006 3:39:27 AM
Toros is fully healed after Gecktar's divine energy is channeled in his torso.
Toros-healing d8+1=9 d8+1=5 d8+1=7 d8+1=5 Thursday June 8th, 2006 3:50:38 AM
Toros also has some healing energy left and uses them on his friends to close the remaining wounds.
(3 CLightW 9 hp, 5 hp, 7 hp - please ignore the fourth one and 3 spontenous casting of CMinorW, 3 hps)
Winterglade d8+1=7 d8+1=9 d8+1=9 d8+1=9 d8+1=9 d8+1=4 Thursday June 8th, 2006 6:22:10 AM
Winterglade takes out the party's lesser wand of healing and finishes the job [assuming Toros's healing went to Gecktar, Winterglade's next spell heals 7 damage on Gecktar, leaving him with only 1 point of damage; then he heals Flat-Top five times restoring him to full health. That's everyone taken care of by my count.]
The centaur stretches his arms. There is a cracking of joints. Then he goes over to where Brahmah is to help with collecting firewood.
"Might be a good idea to take a look around before nighttime. Who knows what lurks in the jungle? Besides, we might find some kind of settlement or something, no?"
Flat-top Thursday June 8th, 2006 8:10:21 AM
Flat-top feels better after Gecktar heals him (of40 hp), He begines to strech with a few pains and cracking of bonds. Along come Winterglade, he heals Flat-top to full health.
Now Flat-top feels his oldself again, the pain is in his stomack, Yep! He's hungry. If flat-top is hungry, Then he thinks to hinself, EVERYBODY is hungry!
Flat-top yells at Bramah "Captain! I'm going into the jumgle to see what I can find for a few snacks before bed time, OK?"
Not waiting for an answer, Flat-top will go into the jungle (A few Yards), Kick a few palm trees for their coconuts, look for some kale (a kind of spinich), berries and a bread tree (kind of palm tree, their fruits taste like bread). If nothing happens, hopefully come back with some food.
Brahmah Thursday June 8th, 2006 1:57:22 PM
"Gecktar, tend to the others first. This is not that bad. You look like you could use it more!" He pushes the cleric away. (Please use the 22 healing on another character)
Zeoll d20+9=26 Thursday June 8th, 2006 4:52:01 PM
Zeoll helps Winterglade scout the area. A trained druid, he moves easily through the natural surroundings and leaves no trace. His spot check is a 26.
Are there any crew from the ship who made it to shore?
